I upgraded to Windows 10 last night and I've been having problems with Dolby sound since then, I've reinstalled multiple times and followed all advice I've found on here, but my problems are currently:If I turn on Dolby Digital Plus in Sound > Playback > Properties > Dolby, after a song, or any audio has finished playing (goes idle) it will turn itself back offDolby Home Theater (with the equaliser, etc) doesn't work at all, the spectral visualiser at the top of the application remains blank all the time, turning it on and off or changing settings in it does nothingI've tried lots of different methods to fix this, and I'm currently using the latest Realtek/Dolby sound driver from the acer support site (6.0.1.7040 for Windows 8.1). I'm using an Acer Aspire V3-571G, Windows 10 x64. I'd be grateful of any support.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Dolby Digital Plus has miraculously started working, though it looks very different to the last time I used it (it used to be a lot smaller and said Home Theater rather than Digital Plus) but its better than nothing.

Hi,I'm now using Ideapad Z510. After upgraded to Windows 8.1. I'd went to the Lenovo website searching for new driver update. But, after i install the "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.7023", the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is not running(audio sound not playing through). And, the "Dolby Digital Plus" is running instead of "Dolby Home Theater V4".Then, when I try to reinstall the older version "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.6954" from Lenovo website, the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is running again.Truly, the "Dolby Digital Plus"'s sound is crisper and louder than "Dolby Home Theater V4". But the sound of "Dolby Home Theater V4" has more bass and more function (like Graphic Equalizer, more Intelligent Equalizer etc.).Is this an update or what? What should I choose? The newer driver (for Windows 8.1) or older driver (for Dolby Home Theater V4)? Thanks. (confused now) @@
I only installed audio driver ver. 6.0.1.6798 which includes Dolby Home Theater V4. Since no issues are encountered I have not updated to the latest version for my unit (ver. 6.0.1.7027). Does this Dolby Digital Plus mentioned by you better than V4 in some aspect aside from the ones that you already stated?

Hi Guys,
I recently upgraded a W520 to Windows 10 with the Dolby HT installed. Of course it no longer works and the audio is horrible again, especially from the internal microphones.
Has anyone come up with a way to install the Dolby Digital Plus on the Conexant based systems? I really need the improved audio for my softphone ASAP.
Thanks.

Hi @iiiiirahuliii, Welcome to the HP Forums! It is a terrific place to find answers and suggestions! For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More I grasp you are having an issue with the installation of the Dolby home theater V4. You were able to uninstall the old driver but not install the updated driver. As Dolby does not have drivers, I am assuming you are trying to update a driver from the HP website. Dolby Home Theater v4 Here is a link to the software and driver page for your notebook. Here is a link from the WindowsSevenForum that may help. "PCEE needs to be installed" when trying to enable Dolby Home Theater. 7 more repliesAs you can read in the title, my Dolby Digital Home Theater works as software (means I don't get an error message) but I can't hear an effect like normally. I'm using an Ideapad Z500 Touch runnning Windows 8.1. I resetted my computer last week and updated everything. Without doing anything Dolby doesn't work anymore. I tried insalling all drivers I had found but it didn't work with any. Help would be great! Pinolpier
Check in device manager to see if under Sound, Video and Game controllers your audio is listed as High Definition Audio Device, instead of Realtek High Definition Audio Device. If so Windows update has replaced the driver with Microsofts generic driver. One Key Theater and Dolby need the Realtek driver. You can roll back or reinstall the current Realtek driver. However I use my laptop for professional editing and the Microsoft driver is better, with higher performance. I get stuttering on audioscrub with the Realtek driver. The loss of One Key Theater and Dolby EQ for me is of little importance as I consider them only marginally less than bloatware. I have been involved with Dolby products both professionally and as a consumer for many years and I find their noise reduction and matrix solutions of dubious merit, plus their aggressive pro licencing is incredible. You can find just as much EQ control in Windows Media Player for example or other software, should you need it. The JBL equipped laptops have good sound anyway and the Microsoft driver has more pro control anyway than the stark Realtek one. I realise that you may notwithstanding still want the Dolby and OKT, so the first para is the solution. Hope this helps

On my Lenovo Edge 15 (BestBuy Exclusive model), I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and found that the Dolby Home Theater V4 software does not work. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and software and still cannot get the program to work. The program will open and shows the different options available, but the equalizer does not move (like it used to on Windows 8.1) and it does not make a difference in the audio output. This all worked before my Windows 10 transition. The audio quality is very tinny and hard to hear without this software, hopefully someone has a solution. Thank you for your help!

hi VrataCZ,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
The Dolby Software and the Audio driver should match and sync.
This normally happened after upgrading the system to WIndows 8.1 that updated the driver but left the dolby Software on original Version.
I suggest you Open Device manager and Uninstall the Audio Driver. (make sure to place a check on delete driver software prompt to rid of the driver completely from your system).
Then Open Control Panel / Uninstall a program and Uninstall all Dolby Component
then delete the Driver Backup under C: / Driver folder.
Now Download the WIndows 8.1 Audio Driver and Install it
for your Systsem, Here it is Realtek Audio Driver for 64-bit Windows
After Extraction and Installtion completely,
this will Creata a new back up under C: Driver folder.
Open that and find the DolbyGUI folder Open that and you'll find the Dolby Install that matches your Audio Driver
Hope this helps

Dolby Home Theatre was not working on my computer when I upgraded to WIndows 10. I asked for the solution on Lenevo's website and got it too. It said to uninstall the audio driver and everything related to Dolby. After, installing it again and installing Dolby Home Theatre, when I open the application it says- "The current Dolby Digital Audio Driver Version is 7.6.4.9 the software application expects the driver version 7.5.1.1. Please install a valid driver and software application combination. If anyone has answer then reply quickly.
More repliesI recently received the new Alienware 18 with Windows 8.1. Not liking that OS I installed Windows 7 Professional. I downloaded all the appropriate drivers from Dell's website for my specific computer. For sound I was given Realtek HD audio with Dolby Home Theater v4. I like the program well enough, but I'm having some issues. As the title says, Dolby only works for 1 program at a time. Say I'm listening to iTunes, Dolby will work with it, but if I open up Teamspeak, it continues to work for iTunes but not Teamspeak. If I was to pause iTunes and my friend started talking in Teamspeak, Dolby will switch to Teamspeak and everything else (iTunes, games, YouTube) will go on using default audio. With my Alienware m18x I had previous to this, I had IDT Audio. I miss that software, it would work with everything at the same time.
Things I've tried:
1. Going into sound options/speaker properties/advanced/ and disabling "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device."
2. Updated LAN driver (someone in another forum said it fixed it for them)
3. I have a Realtek driver downloaded from their website, I haven't installed it yet because after reading their disclaimer, I am under the impression that Dolby is not included.
So if y'all have any ideas, please let me know. Thank you.
Sounds like the way it should work? Dell has a special forum section, on their forum, just for Alienware users. May want to post there.

Hi smansur, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!

The X1 Carbon Gen 3 comes with Dolby Digital Plus Home Theater, currently at version 7.6.3.1.
Hello, I'm using Lenovo Z50-70 with Windows 10 and since the new audio driver, Dolby Home Theater v4 had been replaced with Dolby Digital Plus. I honestly don't like the sound of Dolby Digital Plus and I would like to replace it with the older version for the quality of sound. Hi there,
I just upgraded to Wndows 10 Home from Windows 8.1; everything went smoothly except for the fact that Dolby Home Theater v4 does not work. I had to reinstall it using the .msi file found in the Realtek Audi folders. I chose v4 over any of the other versions because I like how I can tune the equalizer to my liking and different uses. Anyways, the regular audio works and Dolby is turned on but there is no activity appearing on the equalizer and my music does not change once adjusted. Had this problem when doing an optional audio driver update in the past when I was running 8.1. I do not have the option to rollback the driver after upgrading to Windows 10. Does anyone have a solution to this issue or know what the correct Realtek driver is to make Dolby work? This is one of my favorite features of my laptop and I really want it up and running again!
Thank you in advance!

For those of you still struggling to find the solution to get your Dolby Home Theater v4 equalizer back on Windows 10, you are in luck. Warning: I highly reccomend cresting a backup before starting this process in case anything goes wrong. There are multiple ways to do that and I usually create a restore point and a system image.Step 1: Install Dolby Home TheaterIf you know that it is installed already skip to Step 2. Look under the control panel to see if it is listed there, if it is go to Step 2, if not go to C>Drivers>Realtek Audio Driver>PCEE4>DolbyHomeTheater.msi and double click and install the software. Restart your computer!Step 2: Uninstall Realtek High Definition Audio speaker driverGo to the device manager and expand Audio inputs and outputs. Right click and hit uninstall where it says: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio). Hit scan for hardware changes. If it still shows the speakers listed, right click and uninstall again. Hit scan for hardware changes and it should be gone. Do not restart your computer!Step 3: Install the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver that is compatible with Dolby Home Theater v4Go to D>Drivers>Audio>Setup.exe and double click and follow the process. If it asks for a restart after uninstalling the driver go ahead and do so. Then it will install the compatible driver and ask for a restart again to finish, do it.Step 4: Install DolbyGo to this website:http://www.thewindowsplanet.com/3765/dolby-home-theater-missing-a... 9 more repliesI had upgraded my Y500 from Windows 8.1 to 10. Before, I had One Key Theater installed and it worked perfectly fine. I didn't have the Dobly Home Theater app. The Windows 10 Creator's Update came to my laptop and I upgraded last week Wednesday. On Friday, my laptop wouldn't boot up, not sure if this is related to the Creators update. I couldn't perform Start-up Repair, System Recovery nor a PC Refresh. I ended up having to reinstall Windows 10 from a recovery drive I created a while back. My laptop is now recovered except for the tedious part of reinstalling all my apps. I've been trying to reinstall One Key Theater and I keep getting an error message saying that this application does not work for this version of Windows. Furthermore, I noticed the Dolby Home Theater application but it does not work. The icon appears in the notification area of the task bar but whenever I try to open the application fully, it crashes.I've seen posts about these very same problem for Dolby Home Theater and they all recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the audio driver and also reinstalling Dolby Home Theater which I've done a couple times now but this still does not work. Will Lenovo be releasing a version of One Key Theater that works for Windows 10 Creators Update? Will a fix come out for this problem with Dolby Home Theater?Has anyone found a solution?

Download and install both Conexant and Dolby packages from the same page. If possible, with similar release dates. That should do the trick. But being a 420s owner... May I ask why do you want it? The conexant driver it's much worse than the Windows default. And Dolby doesn't work so great. You can achieve better sound using software Dolby filters. Good luck.
If I helped you, please give me some kudos! ^^
I have problem with OneKey Theater. As far as I know it contains dolby home theater v3. When I change OneKey Theater mode from normal to movie left channel is playing louder(speakers or headphones). I can't find any settings for Dolby home theater or OneKey Theater to adjust it. When I change voice levels in Realtek HD Audio driver or windows after I made it balanced right channel has more bass(is muffled) and left has more sopranos. That doesn't solve my problem Intelligence mode also doesn't help - same problem with sound. Only normal mode works fine.any ideas? how can I fix it?? ps. I have just reinstalled both drivers still same problem.edit. I have Y560
hey erisen, curious, after uninstalling both drivers.. have you check the sound quality of the Y560 when windows installed its generic sound drivers ?was the right channel muffled ? was the left channel still louder?

I am currently using windows 8.1, everytime i play my game (CS:GO) Dolby Home Theater automatically turns off and everything becomes soft. My computer model is Acer V3-471G
More repliesHi,Have a DVD-R drive installed with no analog or digital audio cable. The sound from CDs or DVDs somehow comes through anyway through the ribbon cable, running XP.Have an Audigy 2 sound card hooked to my home theater receiver using a mono 1/8" plug to RCA plug cable between the digital out on the sound card and digital in on the receiver.Getting excellent stereo sound from the receiver this way. From what I've read, I should be able to get Dolby Digital on DVDs passed through the sound card to be decoded by the receiver using this hookup and PowerDVD to play DVDs. No Dolby Digital is being detected by the receiver.Think it would do the trick if I added a digital audio cable between the DVD-R drive and the sound card? I think there is a hookup for a digital cable on the back of the DVD-R drive. No hookup for a standard analog audio cable though. Anything else I might be doing wrong? Thanks MUCH for any help!!! Roy
your sound card can decode the Dolby Digital sound by itself , the sound it send out is already decoded, and all you have to do is hook it up to a digital amp

6 more repliesHow do you unistall this? I have a Y580. The reason for wanting to unistall this is because from looking around the net, I saw that it's the cause for realtek sound effects tab not to show up and I find that far more useful than the dolby home theater.
type add and remove in the search box and then click on the result then select dolly home theater 4 , but make a restore point in case you want to get it back.

what do you mean by upgraded? You need to inform members which operating system you had installed and which is now installed.
If you happen to have upgraded from 8 to 8.1 you'll find quite a few threads about this by using the search function.

I recently bought a y480 with Windows 8 but this probably applies to any laptop with Dolby Home Theater v4. My Dolby Home Theater loads at startup like it's supposed to but always in the off position. I'll turn it on and restart my computer and when everything finishes loading, Dolby is set to off. I like using it so it's a real pain to have to manually turn it on each time. Does anyone know a hack to tell it to load turned on at startup? Thanks!

Hi pandorica42Welcome to the forumsGenerally, it should load after every startup.Could you open msconfig(Press win key+r and type msconfig) then go to startup tab. You should see dolby home theatre in the list like this I have realtek so that is why it isnt showing. Please ensure if it is checked if it isn't, that would very well indicate why it wasn't starting at startup/ If it still doesn't start, you can try re-installing the drivers once from herehttp://support.lenovo.com/en_IN/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&DocID=HT073632 or herehttp://support1.lenovo.com.cn/lenovo/wsi/Modules/Driverdownload.aspx?SearchType=1&LogicType=0&Machin... Any thoughts on how I can get this?

There are no DOLBY drivers available for your laptop from Lenovo, where are you installing them from?
DOLBY Home theatre is only compatible if the laptops support it, like an OEM. Not sure about Y50, you should call Lenovo Technical support in your country.
Does anyone know how to fix the problem with DHT on Lenovo Thinkpad S430? I haven't found a solution on the internet. When will Lenovo release a new driver? Thank you
Dear Jinsan,
Welcome in lenovo community,
DHT is related to the Audio driver, so you can right click the audio driver from the device manager and choose update driver software.
Also you can try to install the driver from Realtek website.

hi lenoob,
It seems that your concern is similar on this thread.
Upon checking the thread these are the steps that they were able to make it work.
1. Uninstall your drivers (Dolby & Realtek),
2. Use quantensprungs instruction from page 9 to unlock some device manager options,
3. don't delete any system drivers!
4. From IN/OUT AUDIO delete Digital Output (ofc in device manager),
5. DO NOT RESTART YOUR PC!
6. Install This realtek drivers,
7. DO NOT RESTART YOUR PC!
8. Install This dolby soft,
9. NOW YOU CAN RESTART YOUR PC!
10. Enjoy with working Dolby Home Theater soft! = ]

Open Control Panel and set the View by: Option on the top right of the screen to small icons And it should have an Icon for Dolby Home Theater
Refer to this thread on how it should look like,
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/Dolby-Home-Theater-v4-lower-sound-quality/...
The Windows 8.1 upgrade issue about Dolby has been resolved,
-You will have to uninstall the Audio Driver from device Manager and Uninstall Dolby under Control Panel
- Install the *.1 Audio driver from Lenovo support site
- Open Drive C:driver/Conexant/ DolbyGUI folder and it should have a Dolby HT Installer to install back Dolby Home theater app
Hope this helps

hi Jalari,
Welcome to the Forums.
For Dolby Home Theater v4 to work, it must match the required version by the Realtek Audio Driver. If this was working before, try one of the following:
1. Rollback the driver
- open Device Manager, navigate to Sound, video, and game controllers
- right click on Realtek HD Audio > choose Properties. On the "Driver" tab, hit Rollback Driver then reboot.
2. Re-install both Realtek HD Audio and Dolby Home Theater
- open Control Panel (large icon view) > Programs and uninstall Realtek HD Audio and Dolby
- open Device Manager, navigate to Sound, video, and game controllers
- right click on Realtek HD Audio and choose uninstall (check the box that says "delete driver software") then reboot.
- download and install Realtek Audio Driver v6.0.1.6559, reboot the PC and test
- if the Dolby Home Theater v4 interface is missing, navigate to C:\Drivers folder.
- on the drivers folder, navigate to the Realtek HD Audio then Dolby GUI folder and Install the Dolby Advanced Audio.

I suggest running a system restore to jump back few days jus prior to the date when you ran the EE Boot Optimizer.
Just Press Windows +R to open a run command
type in rstrui then hit enter
Hopefully you will see a date or just click on show more restore points.

HI, I have an Acer v3 572g. I upgraded from win 8.1 to win 10. Everything is working fine except that the upgrading process completely removed the Dolby Home Theatre application and its drivers and automatically installed the Realtek high definition drivers, after I found out about it, I tried some tips I found online , this is what I did: Downloaded the audio drivers from the Acer website, uninstalled the default audio drivers then, I installed the acer drivers followed the installation process restarted my computer after that, I try to run the DolbyHomeTheater installer found in the PCEE4 folder but after I open the setup file it says: DHT cannot be installed. it doesn't explain why it cannot be installed whatsoever. I can't get this app installed no matter what I do, I've tried different things like installing and uninstalling multiple times, running the setup in compability mode... I don't know what to do now Any help will be very appreciated.
download this Realtek drivers:http://www.station-drivers.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=353&func=startdown&id=1654 run the exe, when it ask where to extract add \realtek to the string, so it will create a Realtek folder, browse inside and run the setup.exe

More repliesHello, I have reinstalled win8.1 on my laptop since I gave it a SSD upgrade. I have reinstalled all the neccecary drivers from the Acer website. However, it appears that my audio is not using the Dolby Home Theater. When I play music and I start a game (lets say Black Ops II) the audio output is almost half. I can hear this in the music and the game volume as well. What I used to do to fix this problem is to alt tab to the desktop and then right click on dolby to turn it on again. (when i start the game the dolby turns off) So with the problem that i have now regarding Dolby Home Theater, I can not use my speakers to their full potential. Which is very anoying and upsetting. Uninstall the audio driver from Device Manager, checking delete software and reboot.

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
First make sure that the Audio driver and the dolby will be in sync.
Open Device Manager
Uninstall the Audio Device Under Sound and gaming controllers / Make sure to place a check in the Delete driver software prompt.
Now make sure you don't have any dolby components
Proceed to Control Panel / Programs / Uninstall a Program
Uninstall all Dolby Related programs
Restart if Prompted
Now install this software driver
https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/audio143w81.exe
When you install this software it will show you a directory path whre it will extract, Make sure to Remember the path
This next xtep is important
Open the directory path where the Audio driver installer extracted the Audio driver.
Check all the folders inside it and find the Dolby Installers, Install the Dolby either Advanced audio or Digital plus.
ANd you should now get your dolby back
Hope this helps
Cheers!

Hi, so I'be had this laptop for a while and I can't seem to figure out how to set up thhe Dolby Home Theater to my liking. The bass is very weak, I cannot find a place to adjust it because I want bigger bass. I'm currently using Razer Surround for my sounde enhancements because the bass is stronger, but I want to know if I'm not setting up the Dolby properly? It's currently on music. The quality I'm getting right now is very loud but it's crisp to the point where it's cracking and the bass is very low. Any help setting this up please?

I've got y580 and without DHT music sounds a lot better, but I miss the old Realtek's equalizer. With DHT sounds are like in phone earpiece. Any advices how can I restore old equalizer or fix DHT?
hi tro7e,
Thanks for posting!
You should be able to create or customize the DHT Equalizer for fine tuning
If you are not able to access the custom settings
Follow this steps to reinstall DHT with audio driver
For us to make a Clean and proper install, Follow this guide

2 more repliesHi, After every startup I get an annoying pop-up message of Dolby Home theater that the Dolby-audiodriver was not able to start. This phenomenon just started popping up since I upgraded from W7 to W8. Dolby Home theater came with the Ideapad so is there a W8 update for this issue?Or perhaps I should just uninstall Dolby, but what are the consequences when I do so? Lenovo U310 - i5 - Windows 8 pro
