Optiplex 9010 AIO BIOS Update Error - ME FW Update Failed: Internal error: FWU_Buffer

Question: Optiplex 9010 AIO BIOS Update Error - ME FW Update Failed: Internal error: FWU_Buffer

Greetings!
I have an Optiplex 9010 AIO. This morning I was trying to update the BIOS of my system, from A10 to A13. During the update process it showed an error: "ME FW Update Failed: Internal error: FWU_Buffer " - please see the photo below. Although the update failed on the Management Engine part, it still boots up and running OK. I tried couple of times to update the BIOS, and each time I got the same error. I tried to flash the A12 and A11 BIOS as well, A12 gives same error, and A11 has the same Management Engine version hence no use.
Any help on this is very much appreciated!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

I've got a system with BIOS A14, and would like to update it to A19 but...
When I run the update, it runs fine, the system reboots, performs the POST (but no updating of the BIOS), and then boots back into Windows with BIOS A14 still present.  No errors or messages anywhere.  I've disableed AV, and bitlocker is not used.
OS: Windows 10 Pro 32-bit.
Any suggestions?

I'm having cursor response issues in a CAD program I'm using (~10sec delay from mouse movement to cursor movement).
Intel have a driver update for the HD 2500 video card (15.33.45.4653), but Dell isn't providing it (their latest is 10.18.10.4425, which is installed).
If I try to run the Intel update, I get an error message "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer."
Since Dell seems to no longer be supporting the Intel HD 2500 video card, how can I update this driver?

If the computer did not come from the factory with a uefi bios, you can not install a uefi bios update and nothing is going to change the bios into a uefi bios except replacing the motherboard with one that has a factory uefi bios.

I got into a mess while I was doing an update to BIOS on my laptop N5010. Running Windows 10, I decided to update my BIOS 9 to a later one. During the update the fan went crazy and then nothing.
Black screen for a few minutes so I decided to turn off the power. When I turned it on,a beep started in two seconds intervals continusly and a black screen stay black for ever. I tried to discharge the capacitors by pressing the power button for half a minute or so without battery or power supply on, but when I restarted it I got the same beep and the black screen.Dell unfortunately doesnt help except reccomendations of the type ''change the motherboard'' like everybody has plenty of cash in their pocket to do so. I appeal to GURUS that know things better than simple people and have a heart for the simple unfortunate peoples. I did noticed that solutions for most beep error codes are posted, but nothing on one beep. I am very dissapointed with Dell and their update programs that ruin peoples lives.
Thank you for any support.

The alternative to replacing the mainboard is to take the system to a shop that can de-solder the BIOS chip, flash it externally, and re-solder it.

Hello,

The BIOS update for the L750 failled with a "VERIFY ERROR". I downloaded the BIOS update again and got the same error.

I wanted to submit a support ticket to let tech support know that the BIOS update doesn't work, but low and behold, the support ticket creator doesn't accept my combination of model number/serial number.

So, apart from picking up the telephone, how do I get a message to Toshiba?

Cheers

Answer:Satellite L750 - BIOS update failed with a verify error

Hi buddy,

May I ask you why you try to update the BIOS? Do you have any issues?

As you probably know BIOS update is always a little bit risky because it rewrites the ROM module and if something goes wrong the ROM module can be destroyed and you are not able to start the computer. So this update should only be done if you have problems with the computer otherwise forget it please.

Remember: Never touch a running system!!! ;)

I haven't been able to do Windows Update in over a year due to error code 80004002. I have tried to re-register the .dll files associated with Windows Update as many sources have suggested to do as a fix... but it hasn't worked for me. I just tried installing SP1 to fix this problem... but I get Internal Error 0x800703F0. One of the suggestions/fixes to this Internal Error is to check Windows Update to see if you are offered SP1 by windows update... but that's the thing... I can't update AT ALL... every time I try to check for updates it gives me error code 80004002. I don't know what to do, this has been driving me absolutely insane ever since this problem showed its ugly face.

If anyone knows how to fix this PLEASE let me know. I will worship whomever can get around this BS. :C

EDIT: Also - I'm running Vista Ultimate 32-bit, and yes it's a legit copy.

Answer:[VISTA] Windows Update error 80004002/SP1 Internal Error 0x800703F0

You install is gone south. You will have to backup and do a fresh install.

Almost all of the suggestions i am seeing say the same thing you said you tried. There is this solution that has about 5 or 6 different .dll's to re-register have you done all of them?

Re: Windows Vista error code 80004002 - TechNet Forums

From a couple of other sites they have returned results of RAM or CPU overheating. So have your run Memtest86 to test your RAM? There is a suggestion to try this app out as well:

Download Dial-a-fix 0.60.0.24 - Dial-a-fix is a collection of known fixes which addresses issues with Windows Update, Microsoft Installer, and more - Softpedia

That might help you. There is also this solution that i have found:

Code:
Go to Start, run, type services.msc <hit enter>
Make sure that COM+ Event System is set to Automatic and is started, and COM+ System Application is set to Manual, and isn't started.
Then - download and install the update from here manually: When you use Automatic Updates to scan for updates or to apply updates to applications that use Windows Installer, you experience issues that involve the Svchost.exe process (WindowsUpdate Agent)
You will probably have to run the above software with the /wuforce switch.
Change to the directory that the update resides in (after you have downloaded it) from a command prompt - and type:
WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe /wuforce <hit enter>
That might help. That is about all i can find right now. Ho... Read more

So my problem here is that the check for updates say that my computer is up to date but when ı go into the update history I can see around 15 failed updates trying to install 1703.

So I run the troubleshooter for updates and it says that there are updates pending and that it's going to add keys to the registry and stuff to download the updates in the background but after 30 minutes I can't see any internet activity in task manager and check for updates still say that my computer is up to date.

Hello All, Hope someone may be able to sort this one out for me; my efforts so far have been useless  I am using a ThinkPad R60e (model # 0657-3LG), running Win-XP-Home Premium - SP3, with BlueTooth built-in; it worked fine until a few days ago, when I allowed ThinkPad SystemUpdate to attempt to update its driver (Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software) to its most current version (5.5.0.6400). For the first time in its over two years life, SystemUpdate STALLED during the update (never done that for ANY piece of software, application or driver!). I had to "brutally" abort it (after several hours of wait), and tried again: same result. I downloaded the update from Lenovo's Web site, and tried to run it manually (not under the SystemUpdate services): again, it stalled eventually. Assuming an incomplete update was performed, I entered the Windows Control Panel, and went through an UNinstall of the software (to clean the area), closed the Bluetooth radio, and done a reboot. Further to which, I restarted the Bluetooth radio, cancelled the Windows' "detected new hardware" pop-up, and tried to install the driver anew (from the file I previously downloaded); complete failure, with a pop-up stating "Internal Error 2753, F84988_btins.dll". Repeated attempts, produced the same result; this time, the software no longer appears however under the Windows' Control Panel's "Add/ Remove Programs" (incomplete install ...) Under the Device Manage... Hi,
Any advice?
I have a 9010 SFF that was working fine, except that it would not install the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.  Repeatedly, about 30% through the update it failed with a BSOD. I tried several times.
Somewhere I read that the BIOS might need updating so I headed over to DELL support.  I let the website automatically detect my system and it found a recommended BIOS update, version A24.
I initiated the BIOS update from the website and it seemed to run successfully but when the PC rebooted it hung half way through POST.
On a second attempt to start the machine - nothing - no display, no light, just will not start.
I tried clearing the NVRAM as indicated on the DELL website here: www.dell.com/.../SLN284985
I tried both the RTCRST jumper method and the battery removal method.
The result - it now continuously reboots but still no POST, no display, nothing.
I should add that during the original BIOS update, the PC had a Quadro 600 graphics card and a LSI 9200-8e SAS adapter card inside. They had both been working faultlessly and were removed when I tried to reset the BIOS NVRAM.
Any suggests on what next to recover my "bricked" desktop?
Andy

Hi All,
Tried to find a similar issue in the forums first. Forgive me if I this is a repeat afterall.
I got an Optiplex 9010 I7-3770 SFF (VPro) used desktop recently to put into my cloud in the lab. Normally I simply check the cover again (AMT #1) and move on with the MBEx selection after F12 during boot. This one is not working as expected. Here is the sequence of events:
1. Power on the computer and F12 to get the boot options/list.
2. I can see the Intel Management Engine BIOS Extensions option there. I select and press ENTER.
3. Screen disappears, but comes back now "without" the Intel Management Engine BIOS Extensions option! At the top is states that "Note, some options have been removed as they are no longer valid.".
I have not seen this before. IF it is disabled, why show it...
But in any case, the question I have is, how can I get this option to work so I can provision this box using Intel AMT/MBEx settings. The machine is enabled for MBEx (AMT #1 on the inside chasis cover).
The BIOS revision for this box is A14. I may need to update it as well. Though I am going to wait for any responses before doing so.
Thank you all.

Hey everyone,
I recently purchased two second hand Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF PCs for my grandparents with the intention of upgrading the memory in them from 4GB to 8GB and swapping out the 250GB HDD with an Intel 535 Series 250GB SSD so they both had a fairly fast/cheap PC.

When they arrived I booted them both up and they worked fine so I added the extra memory and they still plotted along fine but when I swapped out the HDDs from SSDs. Neither of the computers recognised them in the BIOS for some reason which I think was really strange. Though if I plug the HDD back in it works fine. Has anyone came across a problem like this? Here is a list of the things I have tried so far.

·       Updating the BIOS to the latest version (A22)
·       Reset CMOS (removing battery and RTC reset jumper switch)
·       Using a different SATA Port
·       Using a different SATA Cable
·       Using a different SATA Power connector
·        Verified the SSDs in another working PC.

Hi All

Some of our client machine(Windows7) is not taking update from WSUS server. When we verified the WindowsUpdate logs, we could see that WU client version is changed to 7.6.7600.256 from 7.5.7601.17514.Our WSUS server is running with version WSUS 3.0 SP1 on windows 2003 server. So we suspect this may be the reason windows 7 machines is getting the error message 'Windows Update Client failed to detect with error 0x800b0001' when it try to get the update from WSUS server.

So please suggest any steps to change the WU client version on windows 7 back to 7.5.7601.17514

I've tried many times to install the latest critical BIOS update, using Lenovo System Update, and every time it attempts to, it fails after telling me in a popup that I need to turn the system off and make sure I have a fully charged battery. I rarely rely on battery power and use AC primarily, and I used Power Manager twice to do a full reset, just in case. I can't believe I would need to buy a new battery in order to install it, because the battery works just fine. I'm running Windows 7 (64-bit), and exhausted every other update or option, unless there's something else I'm not aware of. Is it just the software toying with me?

Answer:[T530] Battery error message won't allow BIOS update in System Update

Hi there,
Recently I got a Dell Optiplex 9010 AIO running BIOS revision A05. I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7, and flashed the latest BIOS (version A19) from within Windows. System rebooted, it flashed the BIOS, but had an error just like this one.
In the end it said "BIOS Update Successful, Rebooting" but after rebooting, the Dell Logo/POST screen has never come up again. The fans turn on, the power light is solid white, but there's no video output on either the internal screen or a VGA-connected monitor. I've tried opening it up, removing the CMOS battery, using the CMOS clear jumper, when disconnected from power of course, to no avail.
Any ideas or have I just made myself a 23" paperweight? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Anyone can have any solution for OptiPlex 9010 small form factor BIOS A24 to setup three monitor with VGA , display port to DVI and display port to DVI?
Best Regards,
Gan

Answer:OptiPlex 9010 small form factor BIOS A24 not able to setup three monitor

The configurations that support 3 displays are limited to the ones listed below. If any other type of dongle or adapter that changes the input type on a port is used (Single-link passive DisplayPort to DVI, DisplayPort to VGA, for example), the system will automatically restrict the video card to two displays. The supported three display configurations are:Two (2) displays connected DisplayPort to DisplayPort (No adapters) and one display connected through VGA. (Recommended configuration) Two (2) displays connected via active Dual-Link DisplayPort to DVI adapters (Dell Part Number 470-AANW) and one display connected through VGA. (This configuration requires 2 available USB ports) One (1) display connected DisplayPort to DisplayPort (No adapters), one (1) display connected via active Dual-Link DisplayPort to DVI adapter (Dell Part Number 470-AANW) and one display connected through VGA. (This configuration requires 1 available USB port) NOTE: The Dual-Link DisplayPort adapter has a USB and a DisplayPort connector. Each adapter will require 1 dedicated USB port.

Good morning everyone. I've been trying to access Windows Update but only get as far the "Please Wait" box that comes up after clicking on Product Updates. After that a box comes up stating that an internal error has occurred. It mentions the file wuv3is.dll which I do have on my system. It is the correct version and size, too. Should I rename it and Extract a new copy of this file? I believe it is the Windows Update Engine .dll . I took a screenshot of the error box and attached it (below). I performed an IE Repair which went fine with no missing or corrupt files, but alas I still can't get past "Please Wait" because the same error box keeps showing up and then IE closes. I have no problems surfing etc. Any ideas?
Thanks sharon

BTW, I have WinMe IE 5.5SP2

Just got the new Spectre x360 with i7 Kaby Lake processor.  I like most everything about it, but it gets hot in the upper left hand corner, and the temps are in the 80-90 range during normal load.  Researched possible solutions, and one common solution seems to be making sure the Bios is updated. HP Assistant coincidentally popped in a message about an updated Bios available.  Perfect timing, so I thought.  Bios update downloaded ok, but during installation, I got the error message c2-Error: Region is write protected.   Thoughts on how to update the Bios?  I know that one of the recommendations is not to update the  Bios unless something is not working.  Everything seems to be working fine, but I'm thinking I should update he Bios anyway to see if it solves the heat problem.  Thoughts on that? Thanks.

1. Update works if I bypass the router, ie. connect the PC directly to modem.
2. It also works from different ISP, through router (at work).

Hi,

Try to remove the proxy server entry from the WinHTTP proxy configuration for Windows 7:

1.
Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start programs and files box.
2.
Right-click cmd.exe in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.
Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or click Continue.
3.
Type the following command and then press Enter:
netsh winhttp show proxy
Note The proxy setting is listed next to Proxy Server. If there is no proxy server, Direct Access <no proxy server> is shown in the Command Prompt window.
4.
To remove the listed proxy setting, type the following command and then press Enter:

netsh winhttp reset proxy
5.
Click Start, click All Programs, click Windows Update, and then try to download and install updates again.Alex Zhaozx

Answer:Computer screen not turning on after BIOS update failed using System Update

Hello, if your dvd is spinning up, you could try to download your bios as an iso file, burn it to disc, and try to boot and flash from this cd.The last chance is to take out the battery, click power ten times, insert battery again and plug ac in. If nothing goes, call Lenovo support line, youŽll need a new system board.

However, I am able to write CD/DVD's. I went to this page http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=6 and updated Firmware update for Optiarc DVD-RW/CD-RW drive, model AD-7560A. Then, I tried to update the BIOS. But, I am getting the following error message: Cannot load driver C:\Bios\05CN63WW\PHLASHNT.SYS. Please check your accounts, if you have no adminstrator privilege, please log in ! Access is denied. Error code: 5 Today, I called Lenovo Customer Care in the US. The representative asked me to visit http://zeroserenity.com/?page_id=121 and run Upper and Lower Filters Reset (in General Tools Section). I again got the following error message: Error: Access denied. Access is denied. <5> Actually, I have an administrator account. The laptop has only 2 accounts. Mine is administrator account and the other one is limited account. I used admin account to run these operations. I closed Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet security also. The representative suggested to backup all data and run one-touch system restore. She said that this could remove the glitch that the laptop is having. I would like to do this as a last resort. Is there any option available to solve this ??? Thanks in advance.

I just restored my x61 to original settings due to a problem with blue screens, and decided to update the BIOS right afterwards.  I followed the directions precisely and it installed all 21 of the individual components for this model.  I then shut down the computer and turned it back on this morning to continue loading software.  The system started with the fan running at high speed and stopped at the ThinkPad Screen.  However, nothing happened after pressing the ThinkVantage button and F1 or any other button for that matter.  I left it for a couple hours, but finally determined that I could not turn it off or do anything with the machine.  It just hung there.  I did finally remove the battery and replace it, and now there is no power registering when the machine is plugged in and it won't start. Is there something I can do to recover the system?  I suspect the answer is a board replacement.  The BIOS update failed in conjunction with something on my computer.  I am just 2 years into the warranty period in the US, so if I need to replace the board, what are the best options? Thanks for your help and comments....this is a very frustrating turn of events, since it is my work machine.

Hi folks: I guess I asked this question in the wrong area yesterday. But,
I just got a new computer 3 weeks ago and installed avira free on it right away. There wasn't any other anti-virus installed on this system when I bought it, so I didn't have to uninstall anything.
On Oct. 5th during a manual update of the virus definitions, at about 20 to 30
percent thru the update, it quit downloading and reported and internal error.
I have tried updating every day since, and is doing the same thing; even if I
turn off my firewall.
I have windows XP, and super anti-spyware installed
Avira update worked fine for awhile
any ideas short of uninstalling and doing over??

Answer:avira anti-virus internal error on update

Don't use Avira but did you check the about window and see if you need a key or registration number, also was there a trial of other antivirus software already installed prior?

I have, or had a laptop purchased 9 months ago, therefore under warranty. Yesterday the ThinkVantage System Update recommended a BIOS update. After the traditional recommendations about what should not shut down the computer, the laptop is reset and started with the update.

During execution, displayed on a screen command, a message "ERROR XXXX. Press any key to continue." After press the key the laptop was freezedy was completely blocked. After an hour without seeing response and no sign of life, I decided to turn it off to confirm the disaster. The laptop was dead.

The laptop began to beep and would not start. Before the panic generated by the situation, I searched the forums where I found several cases that refer to the same problem and the insinuation that makes LENOVO about the customer's responsibility to avoid recognizing the warranty.

I was not looking for a BIOS update, it was recommended by ThinkVantage System Update, the software executed it and damage the equipment.

Besides being a damage caused by the ThinkVantage System Update, the situation gets worse when the answer given by support insinuates that the customer turn off the computer, so it is a CID (Customer Induced Damage) and therefore the guarantee does not cover it. I do not understand how LENOVO may imply that the responsibility of the customer. Really disastrous.

In conclusion, if you are not needing to make a BIOS update, it is preferable to omit the BIOS update messages given to ThinkVantage System... Read more

I used System Update on my T530 today to update the BIOS.   On reboot, the T530 hung.   With help from Lenovo support, I rebooted the computer.   Now System Update says the bios update was successful to 2.54.1.11, but SystemInfo says that the current bios is BIOS Version: LENOVO G4ET93WW (2.53 ), 2/22/2013.    Lenovo support said that they only support the hardware and this is a software issue.   They had no idea who in Lenovo supported System Update.   They also advised to rarely if ever to update the bios "unless the system doesn't boot properly".   I have never heard that in 30 years of IT.    I would like to get System Update to be consistent with the bios level.   And I believe I want to update the bios.   Can anyone help with either of these two issues? ThanksBarry

If you're sure you want/need the BIOS update, you can download it from your Driver Matrix:

I would recommend the Bootable CD version. I've never had a failed update with that method.

L.S.,

When I try to uninstall my old version of Java via Add/Remove programs it uninstalls all the way through, but at the last moment comes with the following message: Internal error 2330 . 23 C:/programs files/java/jre1.5.0_02/bin/client.

I cannot find anything about this on the web? Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks, KoosHopeloos

Answer:Unable to uninstall Java 5 update 2: internal error 2330. 23

Hi

Thats a Windows Installer error.

"Internal Error 2330: Error getting file attributes: [3] GetLastError: [2]"

Which version of Windows Installer do you have?

You can go into C:\Program Files\Java and delete that folder. It will delete the software from your computer as long as its not running.

Then if you download the latest update 10.. jre 1.5.0_10, it will overwrite the necessary keys and you should be fine.

Latest Java Runtime Environment: J2SE(TM) Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10 has been released
Latest Flash version (if you don't yet have it): Flash 9.0.28.0 has been released

Have you installed/uninstalled new software recently?
Try using CCleaner registry cleaner
If this fails a system restore might help

I have a Pentium 4 system I built about 2 years ago. The system has been stable and running smoothly...until today. There were a number of XP Security updates that needed to be installed, so while I was working on a different PC I decided I had time to install these updates. The update installation routine ran without problem until time to reboot. I gave the okay to reboot, and returned to my work on the second PC.

After several minutes I noticed that the screen was blank, as if the PC had shut down. I started to hit the start button, but noticed that the power light was on. After checking things out (all cables plugged in, etc.), I hit the start button. The PC shut down and then restarted. I got the intel boot screen, heard a single beep from the motherboard and then...nothing. I repeated these steps twice with no change.

Finally, I unplugged the PC, waited 30 seconds, plugged it in and rebooted. This time, after the intel screen and beep I see text that says "Flash Update Failed. Press F4 to continue" or something very similar. I pressed F4, but nothing but a black screen with a horizontal cursor flashing in the upper left corner.

This sounds like a failed bios update, except that I was not updating the bios. There were no disks in any drive and I had not downloaded a bios update. I also keep my PC reasonably secure, running ZoneAlarm, Symantec A/V Corporate, and WebRoot SpySweeper with fresh updates and recent scans.

So....does anyone have any ideas here? Doe... Read more

Window Update failing error code 800736B3

I have followed the SFC, update readiness, and clean boot procedures listed in the thread I linked above. I believe I have a SIMILAR issue (not the same).

Can anyone give me a light in the proper direction?

SFC found nothing, readiness tool ran and installed hotfix but did not fix issue. I also tried to install updates 1 at a time, to not avail, as well as the clean boot.

Based on my checksur log, I have the following:

But I am unsure where to go or how to continue at this point. Any sugegstions?

I have been trying to install the latest windows 7 updates for several days and all of them (14) keep failing. The same error is received for all of them, Error 8000ffff. I researched what the updates were for and it looks like they are for Windows 7 x64, I have Windows 7 x86. Also, just before this happened I started getting an error message that my windows was not genuine. But I ran the activation and it says it is genuine (I have had Windows 7 Professional for a couple of years). I did some googling and ran into several post that suggested uninstalling KB971033 (for the windows not genuine error), so I did that and the error message no longer shows.

The windows Malicious Tool update worked just fine.

Any ideas?

Answer:Windows 7 Update failed error 8000ffff

Uninstalling KB971033 just hides the problem, it does NOT solve it.
Please reinstall KB971033 from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033 and then post an MGADiag report.

Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

I have had SP1 fail every single time since we got this damn laptop.
It's now affecting the rest of the computer, making updates pile up behind it.
I've been unable to update anything successfully since 12/25 and that was Security update for C++.

Besides running around the forums trying to figure this out, I've done nothing.
I've never done a "hotfix" or used a repair tool or anything really besides running a clean boot and clearing out some space in case that was the issue (which obviously it is not). I'm literally starting from scratch. I need guidance, I am so frustrated with this thing and I just don't have the will to go trying to fix it on my own.

I'm pretty tech savvy so I can navigate pretty well.. I just need to know where to go.

Hello everyone!

First:

I'm new in here and not an native speaker, so please don't beat me if not everything is 100% correct. :P
Just correct me, thank you!

About my problem:

Sadly the list was too long for the title, so here is the list:

KBs:
KB2667402
KB2849470
KB2864202
KB2868038
KB2961072
KB2888049
KB2750841

Error codes:
Code 800B0100
Code 8024200D (as far as I know it could mean my PC shut off during an update)

Here some background infromations:

Two months ago someone destroyed my PC, since the beginning of august I'm finally able to build my new desktop PC. In this process I tried to reuse my old HDDs (bothe WD Green 2TBs, both work fine), which was succesfull. Shouldn't be to important but just to be safe.

In the process of preparing windows 7 (Professional x64) I had some driver problems (motherboard) because I tried to use my old boot drive.. in the end I newly installed Win7 on my SSD and it worked. Right now only the old boot drive isn't whiped. But so far I hadn't any problems because of that.

Afterwards I started updating. As far as I know the PC had once or twice a problem while updating. I think it shut off. At least once - I tried to reach the fan control of my pc-case and missed the right button (wasn't used to the new case).

In about this time the problems with the updating started. I think it was before I could do my first backup (sadly).
But I still think there is a solution.. even though it's hard.

HI all,

Just registered after seeing a similar thread on here to the issue I have.

I have a laptop with 7 Home premium 64 bit SP1 that is up to date with the exception of an IE9 update that refuses to install at all.

Have tried various different methods but to no avail including attempting to remove IE9 and then try a reinstall.

Uninstall hasn't been possible. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,
I've tried to install the sp1 update several times now, allways getting the error 800b0100.
I read up on the problem in several forums but nothing has worked for me. I ran the System Update Readiness Tool but I still can't install the update.
Hoping for some help here.

Hello,
I have been having problems installing 4 Important Security Updates and 3 optional updates onto my machine. I have tried to install them several times since they was released, but every time I get the same Error Code: 800B0100. They are the following:

Important:
- Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3021952)
- Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3004375)
- Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3023562)
- Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3031432)

Optional:
- Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2574819)
- Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2592687)
- Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2830477)

I have followed the steps from your "Windows Update Posting Instructions", and I have attached the logs to the thread as well. However, the CBS.log will not allow me to read it so I created a new sfcdetails.txt file on my desktop and included it with the zipped folder instead of the true CBS.log file (I hope that is alright). There were also "CbsPersist" Cabinet Files in the Logs/CBS folder which made the zipped file much too large so I did not include them. Let me know if you do need them and I can put them on my google drive and give the link.

Thanks!

Windows update has not been able to install new updates for a couple of weeks. I first noticed this after getting a notification in my task tray saying that updates could not automatically install. However, updates will not manually install either.

I get the error "Windows Could not Search for New Updates" and error code 8024402C. (See attached screenshot).

I followed all the instructions in the Windows Update Posting Instructions Thread and have also attached my error log.

Please let me know what can be done to restore automatic updates. Thanks!

Answer:Windows Update Failed: Error 8024402C

Open Windows Update
Click on Change Settings
Select 'Never Update...'
Click OK
exit Windows Update
Now open Windows update again
Click on Change Settings
Select 'Update automatically'
Click OK
exit Windows Update
Open Windows Update, and do a manual Check for Updates.
If it still fails, please post an MGADiag report - it may show what the problem is, even if the tool isn't strictly applicable here.
Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

This one has me boggled. I've searched high low looking for a solution to this issue without any success thus far. As the title of the thread say, I've been unable to install SP1.

Link to my CBS directory (zipped): https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resi...6E21F538FA!107

SFC /SCANNOW reported no errors.

Let me know if you need anything else and thanks for the help.

The error message says, "Windows Update encountered an unknown error"

Answer:Win 7 x64 SP1 Update Failed, Error Code 80070002

There's no sign in your CBS.log file that SFC actually ran.
an 0x80070002 error is actually a 'File not found' error, and often means that a registry entry is pointed in the wrong direction, rather than that a file is missing.

Is your machine showing any other signs of problems?

I have an HP Pavilion dv6 running Windows 7 Home. I decided to update to Windows 10. Download was successful, it attempted to install the update I guess, was on the settings part. It got stuck though on a blank screen with just a cursor for two hours so I turned off my laptop. Then it restored Windows 7, and now it's redownloading the Windows 10 update again. Thing is, I got an issue with my laptop. Whenever it boots up, I get an error message about the fan not working properly and I have to hit enter for it to continue with the restart otherwise it will power off. Could that have affected the update to Windows 10?

Answer:Windows 10 Update Failed Error C1900101, how can I fix it?

I get this exact same error. I have the same laptop too. This is really ******* me off. I was so excited to upgrade.

Hi

I started up my computer yesterday and got a blue screen which sayed "Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer". I decided to reinstall windows 8.1 from disk but I am now getting the RegSvr32 error box every time I start the computer. After a while I will also get the BAD_POOL_HEADER blue screen.

Any help would be great and I will certainly donate if the problem can be fixed. Thanks

Hello all. I've been having a similar problem to what has been addressed here already and I was hoping that I could get some help.

I am running IE10 on Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit) and haven't really been having any problems except that Windows keeps trying to update to IE10 and when I let the update run it fails with error code 9C48.

I think the update keeps coming back because (1) in Windows Features it only shows IE9 and (2) in the installed updates it only shows IE9. I've tried uninstalling IE10, but there is nowhere to execute an uninstall command (no version of IE shows up in the Remove Programs menu in Control Panel).

I would like for the auto update to go away because these three features are synched (auto update, windows features and installed updates) rather than hiding the update and running the IE Update Blocker.

I have attached the CBS log and a screenshot of the error.

Thank you in advance.

Answer:IE10 Update Failed - Error 9C48

Both CheckSUR and SFC are free of problems - so we'll have to look elsewhere.

It may be a case of attempting to rip IE10 out by the roots...
command line uninstall IE10 on W7 may help with that.

Please post the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file and all IE*.log files

I got error code 9c48 when trying to install the important update for IE9. Not only has the update failed, but it has caused IE9 to be inoperable, resulting in NO browser. I can't seem to find any solution. Please help.

Answer:IE9 Update Failed - Error code 9c48

Try a system integrity scan
RUN > CMD > SFC /SCANNOW

Also try using firefox to access the net, then uninstall IE & download to install IE9 again.

You can try rolling back to your previous ver as well.

I can't boot to windows, so I am using the freedos USB method, and can't get to update BIOS past A13.  All BIOS's past that up to the one that came out this year A20 start up, and go to "reading configuration" progress bar goes to 100, but just quits without any error.  The A13 one which I was already on keeps going and asks me if I want to flash, and does the reboot thing.  But all the other ones just stop after getting configuration.  I also tried the /s flag which is supposed to override soft errors, but didn't make a difference.  I understand this is an older model, but any ideas?

Checking for driver updates and I find out there is a BIOS update (A15) available for my machine it's currently A5. But when I download and try to install it I receive "flash access denied. Please make sure you are logged in as an administrator and re-start application by right clicking on the icon and selecting "run elevated". When I check the account settings it says I am the local administrator and what "icon" is it referring to.

Answer:Optiplex 780 BIOS update

It's referring to the icon on your Desktop (or in whatever folder you saved the downloaded file) for the BIOS update.  So instead of double-clicking to launch it, right- click it and select "Run as administrator".
You may also need to disable your anti-malware software to run the flash  update, but be sure it's enabled again after the PC reboots once the flash is complete.
Keep in mind that there's always a chance a BIOS update will brick the motherboard, so it's usually not advised to update unless it fixes a problem you actually have.
Since you're only at A5, you may want to read the "More Details" for each BIOS update from A6 to A15 to see what each does, to decide if you really need A15. And check to see if any version has a requirement for a prior version before updating. If not, you can go directly from A5 to A15.
Look for links to all the 780 BIOS versions here:

hi ..., i need help regarding the windows update issue.
i'm using windows vista business sp2 running on lenovo thinkpad sl300.
i want to upgrade my harddrive since i need a bigger capacity. so, i try to move my data on old harddrive to a new one.
i'm already try to migrate my harddrive several ways:
1. i try to clone my harddrive with sector by sector copy
2. i try to use rescue and recovery (utilities from thinkvantage)
3. i try to use backup and restore center (windows complete pc backup)
all of them give me the result, everything works just fine, except i no longer can run windows update and all related to it, for example microsoft security essentials.
i already try to fix the windows update with microsoft fix it
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058/en-us with normal and  aggresive mode, none of them works.
can anyone help me on this?Regards, Ferry Huang

Answer:Windows Update Failed Error Code 0xc8000247

but when i register the dll, there are some error saying the dll is missing or not valid (something like that),
maybe some DLLs are damaged.

Please start the command prompt (cmd.exe) with admin rights [1] and run sfc [2]:

sfc.exe /scannow

Is it able to find and repair broken files (create the txt file shown under [2] and look if all files are restored)?

Hoping someone can help me here. I have seen Noel DP post several resolutions but each seem custom to the errors the other user gets.

I ran SFC/Scannow with no errors. Ran Checksur and got errors.

Answer:Windows Update failed error code: 800F0900

This sounds to me like you may have to try going in and deleting the windows update catalog files and re running windows update and see what happens. If that doesnt solve the issue post back and we can take it from there.

Hello sevenforums, Today I installed 8 important updates one failed - "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2898785)". I use firefox should I ignore the failed update or make sure that it is installed properly so I don't cause future problems. The update is "Important" it says so i the view installed updates.

One of the 8 updates was - "Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems" I uninstalled IE11 because it messed up my weather desktop gadget, and I didn't plan on using IE11.

I tried the standalone installer for the failed updated and got the "this update is not applicable to your computer" message. The only thing I can think of doing now is using system restore and trying to install the updates again. My antivirus was not disabled during the installation of the updates. Should I disable it? It never caused problems with any of my previous updates.

Thank you for any help.

I'm seeing this a few times now on PC that are set to upgrade , including one of my own
ASUS Windows 7 PC

The fix, appears to be to do the following - MS appears to be recommending the link on twitter

1. Go into "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" and delete everything in that folder.
2. Now, run the command prompt as an administrator. Type in "wuauclt.exe /updatenow".
3. Go to your Control Panel > Windows Update and your Windows 10 should start re-downloading from scratch, hopefully without flaws this time.

Some sites also recommend emptying the recycle bin as well before running the Command Prompt

I have been getting help from Arc over on the BSOD section of this forum site for a few weeks now. I figured I'd start a thread here about the update troubles I've been experiencing over the past few days as well. There is one update that won't apply no matter what I try. I've run the amalgamated .bat tool posted on this forum and that didn't solve my issue. I will let my logs and screenshots speak for themselves from here, though.

Thanks in advance for any help!

As stated in the title, error code is 80073712. Also, I can't seem to get my CBS logs to upload. I keep getting an internal server error about the resource not being available. The screenshot attached perfectly fine. I will try to either edit this post to add them or add them as a comment.

Still can't get the CBS.zip to upload. I will attach a screenshot of the error page. I'll try it again later.

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

I recently did a factory restore to get rid of some malware and now for some reason updates aren't going through properly.
Everytime i shut down my computer i have 85 updates and they all fail except two.
But the error code is Code 80071A2D

Almost all the updates are Security updates.

Hello
I'm trying to install this update KB978637 and it always gives the 800B0100 error. I already installed the system readiness tool but I still have the same problem. Can anyone help out? I have on attachment the log files. It seems that some files are corrupted, but how do I replace them? This is a clean install of windows 7.
Cheers.

Answer:Update KB978637 failed to install - 800B0100 Error

Here is a bit sophisticated because you have coruupted not only in C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages but also in C:\Windows\WinSxS\Manifests

I attached to post corrupted files according to path they should be placed

I have a desktop computer that is running Windows Vista. I have Adobe Reader 9 and every time I turn on my computer, Adobe Reader says it is ready to install an update to address customer issues and security vulnerabilities. I click through to install it, and after a few seconds, it gives me this error message:

Error 1325. Documents is not a valid short file name.

I don't know what to do. I tried uninstalling Adobe 9 so that I could reinstall from scratch, but I got the same exact error message when I tried to uninstall the program from the Control Panel. I tried downloading Adobe X from the Adobe website, but got the same error there as well. I don't know what to try next, but this problem is bugging me and I don't know what it means.

Thanks for your help.

Have an acer aspire one with xp home sp3 with avg 2011 free and all was working well until today when it tryed updating and it said 'update failed' and under that 'general error'so it ain't successful at updating as it is downloading but is then not completing successfuly. In overview, looking at all the components, under Update Manager it says 'general error' so it is the update mananger that is not working properly.I have downloaded avast free and turned the wi-fi off at the time of writing to be safe even though everything else says there working correctly.Just before install avast and uninstall avg, want to know if it has everything that avg free has and that i do not need anything more than avast and zonealarm firewall.Avg hasanti-virus,anti-spyware which says it also has anti-malware, linkscanner, resident shield, email scanner, anti-rootkit, and identity protection.will avast have all of these components or will i need something extra as excluding firewall?I have kept trying the update process but am have thought that even if i do manage to, if it has done this with me once, it is gonna do it again so as my mum has advised me to, i wanna go with avast, but want to know if i need any others.

Answer:update failed;general error says avg 2011 free?

Avast & Zonewall will be fine. There have already been many postings here about problems with AVG Free !

I've been getting the 9C59 error for a while with the Windows automatic updater. I've attempted a manual update of IE 10, but had the same error. Not sure where to go from here.

I've attached the CBS file.

Thanks.

Dennis

Answer:IE 10 Update Failed - Windows 7 - Error Code 9C59

CheckSUR found and fixed a large number of errors - but there are still a couple of errors remaining, which it may be able to fix if you run the tool a second time. Please post (just) the new CheckSUR.log file afterwards.

There are a couple of errors in the CBS.log which may relate to the errors outstanding in the CheckSUR - so we need to get those fixed first, and only then see if it's affected the SFC/CBS results.
