Preferred Solution: how can i get ako attrs jko alms or any government website to work on microsoft edge

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: how can i get ako attrs jko alms or any government website to work on microsoft edge

The certificates on those sites were issued by an old expired CA.
Looks like a bad configuration by whatever gov agency runs them...
Stuff like that normally gets fixed in a day or so without you doing anything.

I cannot download a form from a Canadian Government Website. I just get a blank page with a red x on it. I know it probably has something to do with security settings but don't know how to fix it. Help!

Answer:Downloading Forms From a Government Website!

Start by reviewing this article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q283807

Can you verify whether the site is accessible from another computer?

Can you give us a link to the site where you are having the problem?

Firewalls can sometimes block access. And domain associations in a "hosts" file can sometimes cause this problem. Where this is stored depends on your operating system version.

Give us a copy/paste of a HijackThis scanlog

Create a new, permanent folder for HijackThis and save the file to that. Run it and select "do a system scan and save the log file". Then copy/paste the contents of the log to a reply

I bought a Dell XPS 12 2-in-1 laptop. I can't get Microsoft Edge to work. When I click on the 'e' icon on the desktop, it takes me to a blue screen with the 'e' icon in the middle. At the top it says Microsoft Edge, but there is no address field. No other symbols to click on either. I can't get to any web site.
I am connected to the net, since I can get Win 10 updates and on the start screen the news app will take me to the news.
I read the Get Started tutorial, and Dell Support info on the laptop, but it doesn't address my problem.
Any ideas?

Original Article:Redmond Developer News | U.S. Government Joins Microsoft Against States
___________________________
The 2002 consent decree that partially governs Microsoft's actions about its monopolistic business practices was originally supposed to expire today. But Redmond is currently locked in a battle with a coalition of states that want to see federal oversight extended for another half-decade.

On Friday, Microsoft picked up an ally -- the very same government. The U.S. Department of Justice joined Microsoft in its attempt to persuade U.S. District Court Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly that the consent decree has done its job and should expire this month.

At issue is the antitrust settlement that followed the Court's original finding that Microsoft had unfairly stifled competition through its Windows monopoly. Among other things, the decree stipulates that Windows development is supervised by a technical committee, and ensures that rivals have an even playing field. The current deadline was moved from today until Jan. 31 of next year.

The DOJ's brief argues that the states' rationale for extending the decree are illogical and even contradict their own past claims. The group of 17 states are led, as they have been throughout, by California and New York (called "Movants" in the brief). "The California and New York Movants advance inadequate and mutually inconsistent arguments to justify extension of the Final Judgments; both state groups argue theories,... Read more

Hi, I'm having an issue with Microsoft Edge Flash not working, specifically on Pandora. I want to like it so much, it's close but it's missing some key features and various annoyances.

Anyways, Adobe Flash works just fine with Microsoft edge.

I have tried the solution to "Reset_Microsoft_Edge" via Windows PowerShell Command, which didn't solve the issue. (Also reset Internet Explorer's settings)

And Yes, before you ask, it's turned on in the settings.

What's very odd is that Pandora doesn't even use flash on other browsers, but it uses HTML 5.

YouTube Loads HTML 5 Videos in Microsoft Edge too, so I'm not sure what the problem is....

To be honest, it's a minor annoyance, Surely I can just use another browser, but that's bedside's the point. It's not working as it should, and I just want it fixed.

Netherlands also signs separate deal as countries? public sectors seek more time to migrate from 12-year-old operating system

The UK and Dutch governments have paid Microsoft multiple millions to extend support for Windows XP past the 8 April cutoff date.
The UK extension cost £5.5m but is only valid for a year, after which public-sector users will have to be moved to newer software.
The Crown Commercial Service (CCS), a new central purchasing agency within the Cabinet Office, paid the US software company to provide important security software updates for Windows XP, Office 2003 and Exchange 2003 for the entire UK public sector.
?We have made an agreement with the Crown Commercial Service to provide eligible UK public-sector organisations with the ability to download security updates to Windows XP, Office 2003 and Exchange 2003 for one year until 8 April 2015,? said a Microsoft spokesperson.
That could require the upgrade of thousands of computers. EHI Intelligence calculated in September 2013 that 85% of the 800,000 PCs in the NHS alone were still running on XP at the time. By contrast, 14% were on Windows 7 and 1% on Windows 8.

NHS managers interviewed for that study expressed hope that Microsoft would change its mind on ending XP support, or that there would be a national solution ? which appears to have happened with the CCS intervention.
?The NHS is very grateful for this deal,? said Sarah Hurrell of the CCS, according to Computer We... Read more

Hi guys!

I'm having this problem since yesterday, and I can't find anyone with the same problem.
I have this problem where no microsoft applications work. I can't open Edge, Windows Store or Photos app. When I want to open them, there is absolutely 0 response. No error-message, nothing! When I observe the task manager while starting these apps, they DO appear for like, 1 second. They immediately disappear though.
I don't know what the issue is. I have this problem since I installed the application: SaferVPN (I already uninstalled it).
Ou yea, my Windows search doesn't work either. No reaction from the system at all.

I already tried running sfc /scannow.
My computer is up to date.
There were no windows updates involved at the point of time where the problem occurred.
I tried restarting windows several times.

I run Windows 10 for quite a long time now. Also, when I want to add a Microsoft Account, it give no response either. (I think thats because it usually opens a small Edge Browser Windows for entering the credentials.

Can you guys please help me? I usually find my solutions in already existing forums, but I didn't find anyone who had the same problem as me (perhaps I didn't google the right thing and couldn't find it because of that.)

Thanks for anything in advance.
Kind Regards,

I have a Microsdoft Access application with a feature that uploads/downloads a file to/from a website hosted at an ISP. Using msinet.ocx, this app has worked fine for years in XP, but does not work on some machines in Windows 7 even though "Microsoft Office Access" is listed in "Windows Firewall- Allowed Programs". It appears that a connection is made to the website but the ftp transfer does not take place. What must be done to enable the ftp transfer in Windows-7. Help here would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:ftp From Microsoft Access to ISP Website does not work in Windows 7

Hi there
Why not use this as your client - try and incorporate batch commands into your file transfer mechanism from ACCESS.

WS_FTP LE | Free FTP Client from Ipswitch File Transfer

I think also using Ms Access you can use some sort of OBDC for transferring data. My own view of Ms Access is that it's a HORRIBLE piece of software -- if you need a database application doing this type of stuff look at a robust and FREE system like MySQL or any number of decent alternatives.

I think the filetype .OCX is an ActiveX type of control file - apart from security issues it's probably incompatible with W7 and certainly will be for Win 8/9 etc.

If you REALLY want to keep running this application I'd see if the XP system will run in a Virtual machine either in XP MODE (W7 PRO needed for that) or as a full VM.

This *might* work in W7 though -- try registering the file manually. (I haven't got access myself so I can't test this -- backup your system first in vase it hoses up things).

Answer:Virus/spyware not letting me open microsoft /microsoft update website

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool. When done, DDS will open two (2) logs
1. DDS.txt
2. Attach.txt
Save both reports to your desktop.
Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here or here. Extract the contents of the zipped file to your desktop.
Double click GMER.exe. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please agree to do so.
If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO.
In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...Sections
IAT/EAT
Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
Show All (don't miss this one)

Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
Once the scan completes, click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "ark.txt".
Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries without proper guidance from an expert user.

...when finished, please post those logs back here. Thanks!

I have a website, I am trying to get to work in edge. I made a website, and it is hosted on my internal server via apache running on Mandriva Linux 2010.1, on virtual box, on Windows 10 (which is the physical machine's OS).

I tested this website in Internet Explorer, by going to the main page, opening it in Internet Explorer, and then clicking the hyperlink to go there. It works from there. I tested in firefox and chrome, and it works there too. But it won't work from edge.

I found out the reason: edge is coded to make the page redirect from http to https, and I don't want it to run over https, and it is not set up to run over https. What trick either in my webserver or in edge's configuration can I use to get around this? Or if that's not possible could you tell me how to get the same content working over https, without having to deal with certificates or anything, and no warnings about certificate errors? https is not really needed for this website, because it's just a list of hyperlinks to other pages.

My problem is I find MS Edge does not always react the same to sites that have appear to have website certificate error problems.

The following two url's are basically for the same site, due to a change in the name of the government department at some or other stage.

Daily State of Dams

Daily State of Dams

Both sites offer a facility where one can display data accessed from a database in a map form. One can display the latest data for the most recent date in the data base which always works. But on the one site (the official new site DWS Landing Page), choosing a previous date to the latest on will just display a place holder instead of the map,

yet on the older site, it will display a website certificate error message, which then allows one to proceed anyway and then get the map.

Can anyone offer an explanation why this is please? in other words why does MS edge not routinely display the error message instead of a place holder?

Further, using another browser such as Chrome will offer one an option to display the image in a separate window which then allows one to see the image. This facility is not available in MS Edge. Any reason why not?

Hi.  Brand new computer, 4 days old.  Still loading it up with stuff from my old laptop.  Removed Norton with the removal tool and installed Eset Smart Security.  Very little else installed yet.

I need to go to the Australian retailer Coles reasonably often.  Chrome is my preferred browser.  When I try to get to the website I get:-

www.coles.com.au unexpectedly closed the connection.

Try:
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
Running Windows Network Diagnostics

Connection is fine, can get anything else I want.  Firewall is not on as I'm running Eset.  Diagnostics is as useless as ever and says it can't determine the problem as usual.

HOWEVER, if I use the Microsoft Edge browser, no problem - straight to Coles.
Anyone hazard a guess as to why this is the case?
thanks

Hello All,
Since yesterday I have been issues with Edge, where this happens every 5 minutes where it hangs then auto refreshes than shows the error below (on the left) either that or the page fails to load completely after appearing to load.
On the left Edge, on the right Firefox (which is still a memory hog ).
Any one else having the same issues?
The only thing that changed was I had to reinstall HP's AMD W8 drivers under compatibility mode; furthermore installing the latest WU updates did not resolve this issue.

Answer:Edge - website loading issues

Exactly !! I also have same issues for Edge and really irritated due to these issues.

What could be the issue? Any solutions for this? Ironically, the YouTube site is working fine in Internet Explorer. Please help!

Just recently Edge has been giving me an error message stating "There is a problem with this site's security certificate" when I try to log onto my work site remotely. I know the site well, have spoken to their IT department and have been assured the certificate is up to date. I have verified my computer has the correct date and time. I have tried accessing the site with MS IE with the same results. There is an option to ignore the warning and proceed anyway, but nothing happens when I click it. Fire Fox allows me to get to the website and log in, but then it seems Citrix will not allow me to access the content. I had previously been able to access the site and its content with Edge. I am not aware that anything has changed on my computer and the IT department for the site I am trying to access notes that they are not having any problem with remote access when they personally log on, and have not received any other calls about problems. They note multiple users are currently logged on. They insist the problem is in my computer. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I am currently running W10 Pro version 1511 on a Dell machine with Intel Core i7 920 @2.67GHz and 8.00 GB RAM. 64 bit system. I use both Fire Fox and MS Edge as browsers both of which are up to date.

When using any version of IE Explorer, when viewing a webpage and want to create a desktop shortcut to that webpage I would simply right click just about anywhere on the webpage and select Create Desktop Shortcut from the drop-down Menu and Presto a new icon shortcut would appear on the desktop.

However, when using MS- Edge, when I Right Click on any webpage all I get is a small drop down-down menu with no selection to create a Desktop Shortcut. Please don't tell me that MS has removed this feature in Edge and I am just missing something or there is a flaw in my system. I have tried every which way to create a Desktop Shortcut of something I am viewing when using Edge to no avail.

Answer:Creating Desktop Shortcut To Website When Using MS Edge

I'm with you on this one!
So far the only way I have found is to add the page to a reading list by clicking the Star at top right, selecting Reading List and then Add.
It's not ideal but it's better than nothing.

Another roundabout way is:
While viewing your wepage in Edge,

Click the three dots at top right
Choose Open with Internet Explorer

Now you can create your shortcut as you were used to. The shortcut will open in Edge if that's your default browser.

I ran the recent update for Windows 10 and since then when I click on Edge and do a search it comes up with a list of websites ok. However when I click on one of the links to open it I get "Hmm, we can't reach this page. Try this: make sure you have right address or refresh page." All links were working fine before I ran the update. I have exactly the same problem with my daughter's laptop. All searches work fine on anything not using Windows 10. Any ideas??

Hello everyone,

First post here and thanks for allowing me to be a part of the community!

My first question is while attempting to pin a website to the task bar in Edge I followed the directions and selected the "3 dots menu" and then selected "open with IE" option as instructed.

When I click on the webpage icon in the task bar the site indeed comes up but it is in Internet Explorer rather than Edge. Is there any way I can pin the site to the task bar and have it launch in Edge rather than IE? I understand it opens in IE because I opened the website in Edge and then told it to open with IE.

When I tried pinning the tab to the task bar in Edge I got the universal red circle with the line through it so I couldn't pin it unless I opened it in IE.

Ive noticed when I pin a website to the Start Menu that it will open in Edge. Is it not possible to have this happen by using the task bar?

Thanks so much for your help.

Appreciate interacting with you folks very much.

best,

rick

A friend with a Lenovo i7 P50 Thinkpad with Win 10 factory installed. Creators Update installed via Windows Update a few weeks ago. Called me last week reporting that he could no longer view web pages using Edge, Chrome, Firefox, or IE. I checked event viewer and saw one of his music creation programs was using a proxy server that was failing. I uninstalled the program and he was able to access web sites for a week, then yesterday the problem came back but no related errors in event viewer. Opening up a CMND window I could ping and tracert any web site without problems. His e-mail works. team viewer works. The web browsers will not connect, hang sometimes, and when closed and exited can still be seen running under task manager or process explorer. I get an error message saying the program can not be terminated when I try to kill it with process explorer or task manager. I ran a half dozen or more antivirus / malware programs which only come up with PUP's and one or two malware not related to this problem. NO proxy settings seen in the browser / internet settings. Running ipconfig /flushdns /release /renew doesn't help either. Suggestions appreciated. - Steve

I put about ten shortcuts onto my desktop, such as ones for eBay, Google, Amazon, etc.; however, they all have Edge's standard blue icons. This makes the whole group appear as a monolithic bunch of icons that all look the same and not so easy to read. Is there a way to change these desktop icons to the various websites' favicons, making them easier to see/read/use?

I think that you can right-click a shortcut, then choose "Properties," then click on "Change Icon." However, from there, I'm stuck, because it offers me the option of browsing to the icon I want, but I don't know how to get to any favicon that I might want.

It's easy to find those websites' favicons, using Google images, and I can then save them onto my desktop, but I don't know how to get them from there onto their relevant shortcuts. I think there is a cache, called something like "shell32.icon" or whatever, which holds icons, but I'm not sure if that's anything I want to mess with, because I'm fully aware that messing with those kinds of files can lead to disastrous results, such as the computer freezing up, the 'blue screen of death,' etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The asp.net website is configured to use Integrated Windows Authentication and hosted locally on IIS\localhost.
When I try to access this website the windows authentication pop-up appears.
Moreover no chance to remember my credentials. If I restart Edge and open this website than authentication form appears
again.
At IE and Chrome the user is automatically authenticated without any windows authentication form, no issue.

In addition to that I played with "Internet Options\Local Intranet" and "Internet Options\Trusted sites"
and "Logon options" ("Automatically logon only on Intranet zone", "Automatically logon with current user name and password". Nothing helped.

Any ideas how to suppress this annoying authentication dialog?

still getting the dialog box Do you want to close all tabs. I have searched online and found a post that had information about the Registry Editor and it is missing the Dword ask to close all tabs with a value of 0. I entered that new Dword into the registry,
( I followed the instructions that were in the post, how to get to the Registry Editor, selecting this string:  Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppContainer\Storage\microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdge\Main
I entered the new Dword. But I still get a dialog box stating Do you want to close all tabs. How do I set Edge to close all tabs and not have Edge prompt me to have the repeating dialog box to appear every time I want to X out of Edge?

I've noticed that each tab in Microsoft Edge uses between 13% and 20% of the CPU.
My CPU is: AMD Athlon X4 760K Quad Core.
Does anyone know a fix for this? I've also been reporting it through the Feedback options available.

Answer:Each Microsoft Edge Tab Using About 20% of the CPU

Get a better processor? Intel perhaps? Haha, jk.
What sites specifically?

I am beginning to think that I gave Microsoft Edge a bad Rep. I switched to Google Chrome and now I am still having problems with logging onto web pages. I think that it may be a Windows 10 problem. I use CCleaner every night before I shut down so I know that it is not a "buildup" of excess files on my computer. At first Chrome was a little faster than Edge and I was satisfied but now the same old thing is happening. I have 8 Gigs of RAM. That should be enough to have a speedy computing experience. I do not know much about other Browsers such as Firefox or any other. Can anyone tell me what is going on? I have not tried IE. I can bring up IE with Cortana or just find it in the apps.

Any advice will be helpful,

Jay

Answer:Microsoft Edge Bad Rep.

Have you scanned with your AV for malware, or could it be the AV causing the slow performance ? Disable the AV to check.

Check Event Viewer and Troubleshoot (Control Panel/Security & Maintenance/Troubleshoot

Could software or apps be causing the issue ?

Lots of troubleshooting tips in the tutorials on this site and on the web. If all fails, consider a System Restore or Refresh.

Question: Microsoft Edge

On my laptop which has Windows 10, Microsoft Edge will not open at all.    Can someone tell me what to do please?Judy

Answer:Microsoft Edge

Friend of mine had same issue. He used a restore point to get edge to work again. Somehow it got corrupted. On another friends system where edge stopped working Firefox was placed onto a thumb drive and installed as a browser replacement in which they then were able to download malwarebytes and remove infection that killed edge. So these are 2 methods. 3rd method would be get all your data off of the computer and then perform clean install from recovery media.

Question: Microsoft Edge

My Microsoft edge program tries to open then closes?

Answer:Microsoft Edge

Edge is a "work-in-progress", or if you want to be really honest it is Beta software that MS are getting users to test.

You may want to stay with IE or Firefox until Edge grows up and becomes a mature product.

Question: Microsoft Edge

How do I enable or be able to sync my data on Edge if I format and freshly install windows in future? is this even possible or Microsoft is still working on it because I cannot find it anywhere to sign-in in the browser

Answer:Microsoft Edge

You can sync reading lists and favorites at the moment. Probably need to be signed in with a MS account to the computer, and probably need the latest updates from MS (The major Update everyone is talking about). Edge is still having stuff slowly added to it. Next is probably going to be [expanded] support for extensions.

Question: Microsoft Edge

Any ideas how to make Microsoft Edge good? I ve tried to use it but it keeps freezing up on my HP Envy x360 Convertible. I want to use it but cant deal with the freezing and its a bit lagging. Help please. Also what add-ons area good to run with Edge?

Answer:Microsoft Edge

I find Edge is running great on my HP, but try surfing on IE11, now that has become a piece of crap! I swear MS is sabotaging it so users are forced to use Edge.. its SOOOOOOO bad!!! constant crashes, freezing, slowness and other crap I can't think of.. it used to be so good but now I'm forced to use *swollows* GOOGLE *threw up a bit in my mouth* BUT Edge isn't bad but I do get occasionally some freezing, my moneys on the WEB DEVs are coding these websites to work favorably on chrome and android and IOS, and not Windows... that's why we get the intermittently hang ups and freezes and whatnot... the only thing I can suggest is using adblock and don't use to many add ons as that will slow your surfing a bit...

There is no way and according to rule #13 we're not allowed to discuss ad-block tools/software.

13) No ad blocking discussions. This site depends on ads to pay for the costs of running and maintaining it.

Windows 10 felt in many regards like an operating system that was not ready for release back when Microsoft released it. This was the case for the new system browser Microsoft Edge as well, as it lacked a lot of features.

While it was highly optimized, it felt like a browsing shell more than a full browser in many regards. Microsoft worked on improving Edge, and it did so over time by introducing new functionality such as browser extensions.

Still, a first impression is usually one that lasts, and that is probably one reason why the vast majority of users on Windows 10 have switched over to Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi or any of the other third-party browsers.

So how does Microsoft get people to give Edge another chance? Ads was the answer apparently, as users have started to see taskbar advertisement on Windows 10 like the one spotted by Brad Chacos below.
These ads appear over the Edge icon in the Windows 10 taskbar, even when Edge is not open. They do appear only when Edge is not the default system browser but that covers the majority of Windows 10 systems.

Since it advertises Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Rewards, it is possible that the campaign is reserved to the United States. The reason for this is simple: Microsoft Rewards are only available in the US right now.

This is not the only ad that promotes Microsoft Edge that users may see however. Microsoft is pushing ads in the Action Center as well stating that Chrome is draining battery fast and that switching ... Read more

Answer:Microsoft: use Edge or Ads

Ads everywhere, what seems to be free in reality is advertising.

The solution for Edge no longer saving URL's (and files) in the new Favorites folder, sorting or managing the ones that are already in the Favorites list, or manually managing the Favorites moved the ESE database is, in my opinion and from experience, - USE A DIFFERENT BROWSER. Problem solved, no more headaches, no more frustration, no more lost time, no more lost Favorites.

Question: Microsoft Edge

In Internet Explorer 11 the F11 function led to increase the area occupied by the browser, but in Microsoft Edge that possibility disappeared or been replaced?

I would appreciate an answer.

Answer:Microsoft Edge

Edge is a new browser. Something can't disappear if it's never been there. Edge does not yet have that function, but may in a future upgrade.

Question: Microsoft Edge

Hello,
Since I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10, Internet Explorer has apparently been replaced by Microsoft Edge. I experience difficulty with this new browser, in that it signals security problems for about every second website I want to go to - even absolutely reliable ones. If I click on the "continue anyway" button, nothing happens but the security warning reappearing. This blocks my access even to websites I need for professional use. Does anyone know how to get rid of this problem?
thank you

Answer:Microsoft Edge

Internet explorer is still installed, just use that instead.

IF MICROSOFT EDGE IS THE BEST WHY DO THEY WANT YOU TO MAKE IT YOUR DEFAULT BROSER?

Hi, Curently they have two web browser products (IE and Edge). They want users to use newer product to simplify and save support cost as any business. You can use other browser as default. I use 3 browsers depending on which machine I logon but around  80% Firefox, 15% IE and 5% Edge. I don't know when but one day they may announce to stop one and only support one (can be IE, depending on users reactions / acceptances). Regards.
