I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: how to make broadcom wireless g work with vista

OK, good that it reinstalled. A couple of other things to try....Are you sure the wireless adapter is enabled? Try pressing Fn+F2, that will toggle it ON or OFF.Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center. On the left side, click Change Adapter settings. Is the wireless adapter listed there? If it is, click on it & try the selections on the toolbar.

I am a computer technician for a small consulting firm in Boston Mass called Tech Networks of Boston (TNB). I am having an issue with my 3000 N100 0768-E7U running the Pre-loaded Windows Vista Business edition. Original description: T7200(2GHz), 2GB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm HD, 15.4in 1680x1050 LCD, 128MB nVIDIA GeForce FX Go7300, CDRW/DVDRW, 802.11n wireless, Bluetooth/Modem, 10/100 Ethernet, touch pad, Camera, Fingerprint reader, IEEE 1394, 6c Li-Ion, WinVista Business Since I purchased my laptop from TNB back in March of 07, i have had issue with playing audio while using the wireless. Sound get clearly degraded when wireless activity occurs. I though it would have something to do with drivers so i updated the wireless and sound drivers to the latest ones offered by the manufacturer (which are more recent then the ones provided by Lenovo). no luck. I later decided to wipe and install Windows XP Pro on my laptop. Surprise, sound and wireless work great. Now i have reloaded the newest version of Vista Business with SP1. still having the same issue. Does anyone have any suggestions or fixes???

Answer:Broadcom Wireless and Sound under Windows Vista

Fausto,

I believe we need to look into your audio drivers ... Realtek.  What version number driver are you running under Vista?

Also, what mode are you running the network card in?   Are you running in 'G' mode?

Can you explain a bit more about the degraded sound?  Is it stuttering / skipping, or...?

Thanks.

I have been struggling with my both dell machines. Both have Broadcom cards. These cards have similar problems with my router for the past few days. what wireless cards do you have?

Answer:broadcom 1390, broadcom 1370 dell wireless

Even though it appears you're having the same problem, please start a new thread when you have a new issue. It's very difficult to keep two problems straight and who's working on what in a single thread.

I've created a new thread for your issue here.

Note: You will need to post complete details of your configuration and your specific issue in this new thread for us to help you.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Hello, I bought ThinkPad E450 with broadcom 802.11ac wireless adapter about two weeks ago.I experienced blue screen when I tried to use the wireless device as Hyper-V external virtual switch. After the blue screen, the broadcom does not work until I remove the device from devicemanager and reinstall the drive. Any solution?  - My driver version of Broadcom 802.11ac adapter is the latest 7.35.267 as of 15-Aug-2015.  The previous version's  (for Win 8.1) result is the same.  As long as the adapter is NOT associated with Hyper-V, it seems to work fine.- OS: Windows 10 pro 64bit- 16G Memory- Virtual Technology is enabled on BIOS setting.- Hyper-V feature is enabled.  The ethernet adapter is working fine as Hyper-V extenral virtual switch. BTW, I have a sony laptop PC with Intel Wireless adapter, which works fine with Hyper-V. Will the next release of the broadcom driver solve the problem?Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.Regards,ChangeeFrom Yokohama, Japan

Answer:ThinkPad E450 broadcom 802.11ac wireless does not work with Hyper-v external switch (bluscreen)

I'm still suffering from blue screen in the environment where broadcom wireless plus hyper-v are installed. (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA)

So far any updates on my PC including drivers, BIOS, Windows 10 etc. did not solve this problem!

It is obvious that virtual switch associated with broadcom is root cause. It is due to the fact that blue screen does not occur after removing them.

Hello. I made a clean Vista installation from my recovery partion and installed new drivers for all controllers. But the NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet NIC  is pain in the ass.I have to disable/enable it every time after R60 went out from sleep state to get LAN work. NetXtreme's  driver version is 10.39.0.0 which seems up-to-date. Any Idea? P.S. Power managemet  WOL option - Wake up from a Magic Packet - is enabled. May be this is the case?

Answer:R60's Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet NIC doesn't work after standby/wake up in Vista

When I unchecked the 'Wake up from a Magic Packet' option and checked 'Allow to turn off the device for saving power' NIC works with no problem after standby/wake up transitions.  Does anybody use WOL? Before facory reset of Vista WOL function was OK.

I like to think I know my way around a computer a bit and can figure things out but I am stumped! Please help me....

Okay, I have Windows XP home and online for years without issues. I connect with Verizon's modem they sent me, I have DSL.

Got a new HP Notebook with built in everything and with it I ordered a Linxys wireless router.

The problems began with my desktop's tower apparantly. The Linksys's instructions tells me to run the disc first. I put it in the laptop and it DLs and then this great program launches which appears its going to walk me through things (EasyLink Advisor) - (great!) until it basically tells me it doesn't detect internet therefore I realize I needed to be running this disc in my tower first and not the laptop.

I put the disc in the tower and it does DL but all I can get is an adobe like manual to 'read' instructions. In other words where the heck is the nice launched 'walk me through' program, its gone here!

So, I read more carefully the requirements on the disc (in order for the EasyLink Advisor to work/launch). So, even though I was sure I had those requirements, I decided to go to Windows update and be sure I was up to speed.

Then I run into the next snag (of course). I couldn't do a Windows update at all, kept getting an error message. Despite being leary of doing so, I did follow the instructions and made tweaks to my Reg through my Run mode.

To my surprise when I reboot... Read more

Answer:I just can't make wireless work

Hi and welcome to MGs.

I would remove the Linksys software from both computers by using Add/Remove and also reset the router back to factory default. (There should be a reset button on the back panel of the router and by holding this in for at least 10 to 30 seconds depending on the model you should be back to original factory condition.)
Then start over fresh with the wired computer first. Go on from there to the wireless.

SO I have a great little dual boot thing set up over here. At first I couldn't get my lynksys usb adapter to work so I said "screw it" and used my laptop which ran 8 with no issues AND my wireless worked.
Well I gave my laptop away. She's gone to a loving home
But now I cant use the net at all on 8 on my desk top which kinda blows the purpose of having it!
My adapter is a linksys ae 1000. I Have the drivers but 8 wont take em giving me guff over "its not digitally signed" or some junk. One member here tried to help me as we went into the registry etc and checked the binary string and it was ok i guess.
I CANT run cable. If I do my guy will nag and nag like an old housewife.
I gotta go to work but I'll be back around 9pm. If you guys could help me out with some options to get this working it would be VERY much appreciated. I've dug around in the guts of this install till my eyed bled.

ok, here's what i'd like to do (Ignore for the moment that its going to seem really odd, just trust me that i've got a project where this is a desired scenerio):

I have a wireless network (call it wireless network 1) that is your standard run of the mill dhcp network. Inside of that, one of the clients would be anohter wireless router with its own little sub network. I know you can have wireless routers sitting on a wired network without any issues, but how would you get one to connect as a client to another wireless network?

I've attached a drawing in case my description isn't clear.

Thanks for any help

Hi guys,
I am a total novice to this and I might have even posted it in the wrong forum. I own a Samsung ML1865 laser printer and this is connected via USB to my 21" Imac.
I want to be able to make this printer wireless so other members of my family can print from it without having to unplug the usb and keep plugging it into other laptops owned by my family.
I could sell it and buy the wireless version of my printer but after reading reviews of it, the wireless set up does not seem to work well and looks very problematic..
What I would like to do is possibly buy a piece of kit to enable this printer to work wirelessly on my own network. A guy at work who works in the IT dept said it was possible by using something called a print server and then went in to a long technical explanation of how it's possible to use a standalone PC as a print server, or I could purchase one and so on and so on. He totally lost me to be honest, it sounded like it would be easier to plan a new space program than do what he was saying.
As there is always someone on here who can explain in easy terms the ways to do these things, I thought I would ask here for a clear explanation.
I am off to work now but would be grateful for any advice anybody can offer on this subject.
Thanks in advance Al

Answer:Can I make my printer work on a wireless network?

You may bew overcomplicating things. If the otehr members of your family all use wi-fi enabled PCs, then all you need to do is to set up a home network of which your PC and all of theirs are members. Ten, they can 'share' a printer that's attached to your PC simply by adding a printer and looking for it on the network. I'm oversimplifying slightly in case I'm missing the point here, but here at home, I have an HP all-in-one printer/scanner connected via USB to my PC, and all the family use 'my' printer via their wireless connection to the router, and thence to my PC. As your IT friend said/implied, my PC is now the 'print server' for the whole family. No need to do/buy anything special - it's all there in Windows.

And deleted drivers?

My Linksys WUSB45G v4 USB adapter isn't being recognized even with the CD that came with it.

Could I be missing a driver I need to make it work? It's also on a older computer and doesn't have 2.0 USB ports.

Thanks.

First we are going to have to check to see if windows is detecting the wireless adapter. Go to START, Right Click on My Computer and go to MANAGE. When this window comes up on the left go to DEVICE MANAGER. Once you click here you will see all the hardware that is installed on your computer. If you haven't installed the drivers to the adapter you should see something in YELLLOW and that means that the driver is not installed yet. I found the driver you are going to be needing. Are you sure your adaper is the Linksys WUSB45G and not WUSB54G. If its the WUSB54G follow directions below.

Go to the link below and select your hardware version, which is 4.0. Now you are going to see TWO drivers. Download the FIRST driver. Create a folder on your desktop and name it Linksys Driver. Once you download the driver you are going to have to UNZIP it. Extract the files to the folder you created on your desktop.

Ok now you are going to have to go into DEVICE MANAGER again. Go to the adapter in YELLOW and right click it. Click on Update Driver Software. Now click on the option that says BROWSE MY COMPUTER FOR DRIVER. Browse to the folder you creat... Read more

I was wondering if anyone could share with me how to make a SOHO wireless router to work as a plain ol AP or Repeater? Thanks in advance.

Bob2001

Answer:How to make a SOHO Wireless Router work as a plain ol AP

Pretty easy actually. Just disable the WAN port and don't plug anything into it. Turn off DHCP and any other services the router provides, and assign the router itself a unique IP address menually. If your default gateway is 192.168.1.1, then assign the AP an IP of 192.168.1.2 (for example). Simply plug one of the LAN ports on the AP into a switch port on your real router and you're good to go (note that you may have to use a crossover port or cable to uplink from switched port to switched port.

Nothing to it really.

Hello,

I searched, but couldn't find anything "on point."

I have a USB Logitech mouse. For reasons too lengthy to get into here, I want to hook it up via PS2.

So, I hooked it up with an adaptor. On bootup, the computer appears to recognize the mouse, as PS2 detection is enabled in the BIOS and the mouse's red light comes on.

However, when I get to my login page of Vista, the mouse doesn't work to control the pointer, and the red light is off. Even when I used the keyboard to just hit enter and log in as the "guest," the pointer will not respond when I got to the desktop.

Do I need to 'activate' the PS2 in Vista somehow?

Answer:Make my Mouse work via PS2 on Vista x64

ummm,
Ps/2 to my knowledge requires a usb-ps/2 adapter to plug into ps/2 port for USB mice, and are not hotswappable; if you have as you said, already done this; try this:

Turn off computer, plug mouse into ps/2 port, restart

If that doesnt work, try this:
Unplug all devices(USB) then restart computer. Go to control panel, then device manager. Plug the mouse in now. In the device manager screen, 'mouse' appears, high light mouse then right click. 'unknown' device should be highlighted, update mouse driver, restart.

PS/2 ports are designed to connect the digital I/O lines of the microcontroller in the external device directly to the digital lines of the microcontroller on the motherboard. They are not designed to be hot swappable. Hot swapping PS/2 devices usually does not cause damage due to the fact that more modern microcontrollers tend to have more robust I/O lines built into them which are harder to damage; however, hot swapping can still potentially cause damage on older machines, or machines with less robust port implementations.
If they are hotswapped, the devices must be similar enough that the driver running on the host system recognizes, and can be used with the new device. Otherwise, the new device will not function properly. While this is seldom an issue with standard keyboard devices, the host system rarely recognizes the new device attached to the PS/2 mouse port. In practice most keyboards can be hotswapped but this should be avoided.

Hi,

Anyone knows how to make Vista's search function actually work? It is the most retarded thing I've ever seen...
For example, when I search for mp3, it returns nothing (it should return 1025 files...).
It just NEVER returns the results it should.
I've tried with Indexing on, indexing off... and I just can't get it to work properly (like XP!)

Any ideas?

If it weren't for the 4GB RAM and DX10, I'd just take this piece of crap out of my hd.

just to verify, when you are searching for mp3 files you are typing in this as the search:

OK, I decided to go with 64-bit Vista and use 4Gb of ram. Overall, after a week-long learning curve to get aquainted with the system, I like it. I have run into a strange problem though, and I see by searching that other people have been running into it, too.

Quicktime will not work on 64-bit Vista. Period! Not in Firefox, not in Chrome, not in Safari, not stand-alone, not in IE (I even tried out IE8). After installing Quicktime, every time I want to play a ~.mov... nothing. Sometimes, right after being positively sure that I just installed the latest version, it stares at me and it tells me to get the latest version!

Anybody out there, like me, who needs Quicktime for making movies, web browsing QT sites, downloading movies from my digital camera - you name it? Anybody have any idea how to get it to work? MS and Apple both seem to be completely ignoring the situation, pretending that it doesn't exist. What's up?

And... can we get a Forum going exclusively for 64-bit Vista so that we can have a place to help each other with this "less-than ready for prime time" operating system?

Thanks. regards,
~R

Good news is that the new Windows 7 Calculator works on Windows Vista too, if it’s been ported or migrated to Windows Vista.
Windows Vista users who want to use the more advanced Calculator program from Windows 7 can download the following RAR archive which consists of calc.exe with its mui language file extracted from Windows 7 pre-beta build 6801. To Run Windows 7 Calculator :
1. Simply unpack the content to another folder
2. Run the calc.exe to use the Windows 7 Calculator in Windows Vista. To replace existing default Calculator program in Windows Vista :
1. Copy calc.exe to \Windows\System32\, and calc.exe.mui (in en-US folder) to \Windows\System32\en-US\ folder
Overwriting existing file (you may want to backup the old Calculator binaries first in case of error running Windows 7 version). Voila, now the new Windows 7 Calculator has been installed on Windows Vista.
Download: Windows-7-Calculator.rar from WinVistaClub.

Hi, I have a problem with starting the Halo 2 Vista on my Windows 7 computer. I already installed this game, and whenever I try to play it, it gives me this notification saying this, "LIVE Gaming on Windows failed to initialize. This may be because another LIVE Gaming on Windows application (such as the Halo 2 dedicated server) is running on the same machine. Otherwise, reinstalling the game may fix this problem." Now I tried reinstalling the game, gave me the same exact message. I read on some websites that it can work, the only question is how? This is a brand new game, I just got it a few days ago. Please find a solution for this problem. Thank You very much, I appreciate it.

hi,

I am seriously considering buying a PS2 network adaptor but have a few questions on it.
Its about 6 or 7 metres from my router to my ps2 so im going to need to buy a bigger ethernet cable but is a LAN cable the same as an ethernet cable? Are the heads the same size?

Also does the network adaptor work with a mod chip. Some people say yeah works fine but some people say it doesnt.

Is there a work around to make Windows Print Shop Photo Pro work on Vista 7?

Answer:Make Print Shop PhotoPro work on Vista?

Try installing it in Compatibility Mode. Most programs written for Windows XP also work in this version of Windows, but some older programs might run poorly or not at all. If an older program doesn't run correctly, use the Program Compatibility Wizard to simulate the behavior of earlier versions of Windows. Type "Compatibility Mode" into your Help and Support in the Start Menu and this will tell you how to open the compatibility wizard. You list your OS as Vista 7... did you mean Windows 7.. This works on that OS as well

Does Office 2003 work on Vista or do they make you buy 2007?

Considering getting the Toshiba Laptop for 550 with possible rebate from circuit city and it seems like there aren't xp drivers for the mb/power control/function keys so considering just getting it and getting an extra gig of ram.

Does Office 2003 work on Vista or did MS do something sneaky like say you need to buy 2007 that would suck.

Might just get a used xp laptop instead less hassle.

Answer:Does Office 2003 work on Vista or do they make you buy 2007?

Yup 2003 works fine on my laptop running Vista Home Premium (heavy excel and access use).

Hi
I have successfully upgraded to Vista an all Parts have been recognized in the right way.
Now i am searching for a Method to make the Media Control Buttons work with vista.

Do you Know a Laptop which has this Buttons too and for wich are Vista Drivers available?

Kind Regards,
Steffen Schreyer

Answer:Satellite M50: How to Make Media-Buttons on the right work with Vista

Hi

Usually such additional buttons needs a Toshiba Controls utility which is responsible for the properly working of such keys.
Unfortunately, it seems only a BIOS update and BT driver was published for the Satellite M50 PSM53.

But in other sections you could find a Value Added Package for Vista.
This package includes some additional applications.

Maybe it works on a M50. Check several notebooks series on the driver download page.
If it will not works, then you can do nothing ;(

good luck

The type of file system is nothing to do with it. On the machines which do not see the others go to tcp/ip properties and click advanced, then the wins tab.

Set always use netbios over tcp/ip and turn off use lmhosts. This is essential to browsing.

Is there a way to do this without a flash drive? There doesn’t seem to be an option, I can create a temp ad hoc connection which works fine but I want a permanent network with file and internet sharing.

Yes, I don't have a flash drive.

Answer:Vista, make wireless network without flashdrive?

Why would you even need a flash drive? All I've ever used one for (in regards to wireless network setup) is for copying pre-shared keys and/or device drivers. EDIT: this is with XP, never tried wireless with Vista.

What's your network setup? Do you have a router or AP?

I've ready all the other posts that look similar to my problem, however they didn't solve my issue.

Here's my setup:

Cable modem
VONAGE DLINK VWR router serving an HP Pavilion desktop running XP Home (connected via ethernet)

I'm trying to connect my Gateway laptop (VISTA) wirelessly, but I keep getting a message that
"Windows Cannot Connect to...."
"The network is marked as a "hidden" network and is either not in range of this computer or the wireless settings saved on this computer do not match the settings of the network"

I'm in range (sitting in the same room as the router. I've tried manually assigning an IP...no luck.

When I connect via ethernet, there is no trouble. DHCP server communicates just fine...just not wirelessly.

Ive just installed Windows Vista on my girlfriends Dell Inspiron 1300
and the wireless wont work, it says it cant find any networks in range
even though its broadcast... I managed to get it on by inserting the LAN,
fiddling about in Network Connections (been on for 4 hours now) then the
1st time I removed the LAN the wireless connection failed then the 2nd time
i removed it it worked great but as soon as i plugged that LAN cable into the
2nd laptop (where the LAN is normally) the wireless (on laptop1) reported
limited..or no connection and wouldnt work....

Now I cant get the wireless working, even if I broadcast it with no security
OR insert the LAN and mess around... It now reports no wireless in range
tho im right next to it (1.5 meters away) and the wireless card is installed
and enabled...???

Does anyone know what this is? its a Dell 1370 Internal WiFi running on VISTAs
own software/drivers for it (downloaded dell vista drivers but had to restore
vista after installing as it was constantly reading the hard-drive ????

All i ever read about is people wishing that VISTA never came on there 'new'
PC cos it just wont work right with anything...

UPDATE: have got it working again.. this time i just left it and it eventually connected,
I have removed the LAN and its still on, Iam now going to restart the laptop (without
turning on laptop no.2) to see if still works.. if it does. great, but ive a feeling that
it will go off when i turn on no.2 with LAN in...

I have an acer aspire 5000 laptop which has had a new OS installed. XP PRO was the system installed. The oem disk was never made for this laptop so the XP installation is that of a different install disk. All the drivers where installed from Acer America. All seemed good to go except I am not able to bring up the Broadcom utility from all programs/broadcom utility/open, nothing happens. I have gone into add/remove and all the programs show up, from the modem, broadcom utility Yadda, Yadda, Yadda. The activate button on the front of the laptop has been turned on. It seems as though something is missing just not sure what. I have used Dr Hardware, Everest and SIW for information on what is installed on the laptop, all seems good to go, but believe me it's not. I am diffenitly needing help. Thanks from Donk for any help that may be given.

Hello,

I have a Compaq Persario F700 with an AMD Athlon dual core 1.8Ghz and 1Gb ram Windows Vista home Premium.

The Broadcom 802 .11b/g wlan wireless card will not show up or detect in Vista after re-boot.

I did a system recovery back to factory settings from the recovery drive (D)

The Broadcom wireless card works win Vista first loads and goes through the setup information and HP software install, but when you the reboot the laptop it's as if the wireless card was never installed. It does not show up in device manager, if I reinstall the driver from HP web site it still does not work. I went through the recovery 3 times it only works that first time and as soon as you reboot it's gone. The Nivida nForce Networking Controller is there and works just fine.

The laptop is not mine, I'm just working on it for someone. It needed to be wiped clean because of viruses and ad-ware.

I can not figure out where the conflict is, I'm thinking something HP installs blows it away.
Dose anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this I'm at a loss.

Thanks

Ken

Hi, I recently bought a used T41, type 2373-Y22 from a dealer in Germany. I'm looking for a driver for the integrated wireless card. The program Everest finds the following card to be installed: Broadcom 802.11g Wireless Network Adapter (14E4-4320). This seems not to be the original card, so no driver from Lenovo works. Broadcom doesn't even bother to answer the mails. Can Anybody tell me where I can find a driver for this card? Jürgen

Answer:WIRELESS DRIVER BROADCOM

Hello and welcome!Did you already tried out any of the Broadcom drivers which can be found on the net, like this or one from here?Add-on: The key here is, to find out what Broadcom chipset your WLAN card uses, since it's easier to find a correct Broadcom driver, if you know the exact chipset spec name. For your pciid= 14e4:4320  it might be possibly --> BCM4306 <-- but you will have to prove that twice before searching for a suitable Broadcom driver.Message Edited by vkyr on 03-24-2008 01:27 PM

Help!!!! In device manager, Broadcom 802.11 is enable but in adapter settings, it is disable. If enable, it says enabling then enabled but still disabled. My wireless switch at the side is turned on also in function key + f5. I try to troubleshoot using windows and it says there might be a problem with the driver of the wireless connection adapter. The driver I installed is working the first time I installed it. I even try reinstalling it.

This last three days my brother and sister use this computer. They said that we can't connect to the internet. We are using Globe broadband. When I got here, I still can see wireless connection but can't connect with mobile broadband connection. I reinstall the driver for mobile broadband then the wireless connection dissappear. I try uninstalling the driver for mobile broadband and reinstalling the driver for wireless connection but nothing happened.

Answer:Wireless Connection Broadcom 802.11

Hi,

Would I be right in thinking from your reference to the wireless switch and to Fn+F5 that you are using a laptop and the Broadcom wi-fi unit is built into it ? If this is the case, these can fail in ways to have you pulling your hair out and not show up in Device Manager. A simple solution would be to beg, borrow or steal a USB type wireless dongle - and possibly its driver software, depending on your operating system - plug it in and see if you get a wireless connection with that. If you do, then probably the on-board wi-fi unit has failed and by far the cheapest solution is to go and buy a USB type dongle.

By the way, looking at your device driver screenshot, are you aware that there is a possible problem with your DVD drive, it has a '!' symbol over it ?

Hi, I got a new laptop today with this adapter built in. All everything is connected fine but it won't detect my network, it sees both my neighbour's networks, but not mine. £ other computers in my house can detect it, so why not the laptop? The router is a Netgear DG834G and the 3 computers connected to it are all Netgear too.
Any reason why the broadcom adapter would't see my router?
Cheers

Answer:Broadcom 802.11g wireless adapter

What model & manufacturer of laptop, and are you using WEP or WPA on the Router? The simple thing to look for is if the Wifi adapter light is lit up on the laptop. If it is a Compaq/Hp notebook, you would have a blue light that has an icon next to it that looks like a lollipop silkscreen icon. Same color for Gateway.

I would make sure that the Wifi Adapter is Enabled, or otherwise it would never work.

Hello All, I just picked up a refurbished G500 and overall I'm pretty happy with it...with one major exception. The #1 criteria when I was laptop shopping was that it provided 802.11n support (my old laptop was just 'g'). Anyway, long story short, I am not experiencing any connectivity issues however I'm lucky if I connect at anything above 55 Mb/s. I switched over to my 802.11g router and my connection speed dropped down to 5 mb/s... so there is obviously an issue. All suggestions are welcome, but let me rule out the typical initial responses: * I have a Dell laptop that connects to my 802.11n router at 150Mbs so I know the router is fine* I have tried the generic Windows Broadcom Driver* I have tried the Lenovo Broadcom Driver for Win 7* I have tried the Lenovo Broadcom Driver for Win 8* I have tried the Lenovo Broadcom Driver for Win 8.1 Also note that I'm in I.T. but wireless isn't my strong point. When I first got the G500 before I did anything to it (so OEM image) the wireless connected low (Think the highest I saw it was 72 Mbs at one point). I have since wiped that laptop and installed my own copy of Win 8 Pro (and then Win 8.1 Pro Update) and still getting the same speed. So I feel like I have pretty much ruled out any OS issues (since I've been on 3 at this point). Drivers are always a possibility but I've tried everyone out there. And of course Hardware would be my last thought although it works.. just not that fast. I'm also... Read more

Answer:Broadcom Wireless 802.11n low Mbs speed

Just to followup, it sounds like it's the Broadcom Card. Not capable of speeds over 72 Mbs. I'd be ok with that and just replacing the card but dealing with the fact that Lenovo can't seem to tell me the approved "whitelist" cards means I can't. Thinking about returning it... this is why I never buy HP equipment and now I may have to add Lenovo to my personal Black List.

I have a broadcom 440x10/100 Integrated Controller. I just got the Westell 7500. It won't connect for any connection to the broadcom card. Does anyone know if this broadcom is a network adapter? My older westell modem still connects just fine. Have a Dell 521EIs this a driver issue or do I need a network adapter? If a driver problem does anyone know the driver I need? If I need a network adapter, it is for a Dell 5100C and does this disable and replace the Broadcom card? Or in addition to it?

Answer:Can I use Broadcom 440x10/100 IC for wireless

The broadcom is a non-wireless network adapter - it will only connect using a cable. If your old modem worked with the card then your new one will, you just need to set it up in the first place - follow the instructions in the manual, if you don't have them then they should be available on the Westell website."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Hi guys, my friend just got a new Acer 3023 laptop with a built in broadcom wireless 802.11g card. I've installed the included drivers and utility and ensured the wireless card is active but it won't pick up my wireless network. All the computers on my network use netgear cards. I put the laptop right next to the router and it still can't see the network. Usually there are 2 or 3 wireless networks availible in my house but the laptop can't see any of them, the network is 'not connected' in network connections. I'm not sure what to do next?

Answer:Broadcom wireless problems...

I just tried changing one of the computers on my network to an ad-hoc network called 'test' and the laptop found it. I guess this means the card isn't faulty. Why can it see an ad-hoc network, but won't see my infastructure network???

First, the questions: every time my girlfriend boots her Gateway laptop, she successfully connects to the wireless network for the dorm. However, she must release/renew to get any connectivity. The card is a Broadcom 8011.b/g (also has bluetooth... I have been out of the tech loop for a while now and know little enough about laptops to have no clue what the model number or even that company's track record is as far as compatibility and reliability). I have played around with the standard settings to try and fix this with no avail. Also, the laptop take a million years to boot and shut down, and while I am no expert, I have toyed with the common things that might cause this... I know that a tech guy got to the laptop before I did and replaced the OS and did a bunch of tweaks and didn't document it or anything so I have no idea what state her laptop is actually in.

And a bit of mudslinging... I would encourage you all to avoid purchasing your laptops (or desktops for that matter) from Gateway or Best Buy. Gateway does not support your computer in the event that you change operating systems or alter the computer in any way. Also be aware that Gateway does not cover a laptop with their name on it purchased from Best Buy. You actually must call a seperate number that leads to an eMachines representative, waiting a good 30 minutes each time you must push a new automated answering service number. Really poor business.

Answer:Broadcom wireless card

The more recent broadcom mini PCI cards in laptops, several Gateways, Dells, Compaq/HP, really are not that reliable.

Just one example I've run into lately, my bro'in'law's D820 will connect to my Linksys WRT54GS but not his dad's US Robotics AP. It will only connect to about half of the AP's in various hotels.
Drivers have been changed, etc, but I haven't done that much with it myself. He is a pretty good tech in his own right.

Combine that with several of my customers with the same issue and a Broadcom mini PCI ABG card... its faster and cheaper for my customers just to buy an Intel 2915ABG and pop it in there.

Hello everyone. I have one hp tx1320us and a sony vaio laptops. They both have the wirelss draft n card, but the hp has one from Broadcom. My problem is that the hp after being on for about two or three hours, the internet connection starts becoming slow (very slow). I go to speakeasy and run some connection tests, and the results vary from 26k to 54k; my printer icon (lan printer) starts to disconnect and connect back also. The problem is I have a cable modem running at 7mpbs. I go to speakeasy again, but on the sony, and my full connection speed is there along with my desktop pc via ethernet.

After googling, I have discovered that the broadcom draft n cards are no good. Now, is there a possibility of swapping out the card with something else out there? Or is there something that can be done to fix it?

Also, after a reboot, the connection is back to normal and at full speed; the printer icon is also consistent. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I am a student at a University which requires the use of a VPN client to access the internet. When I turn on my internal wireless adapter (Broadcom) it shows excellent connectivity. I also have no problem connecting to the VPN. But when I try to connect to the internet it fails.

I have an external wireless adapter that I use at home and I plugged this one into my laptop and it worked fine. I could always use this but I figure the internal should work so I 'm looking for help.

I have taken the computer to the campus IT people but they were unable to help saying it would connect when it wanted to.

Thanks.

Answer:VPN/Broadcom Wireless Issues

Make sure your VPN client it not configured to use the default gateway on the remote computer

1. Go to the properties for your VPN connection
2. Click on the Networking tab
3. Double click on TCP/IP
4. Click on the Advanced button
5. Uncheck "Use default gateway on remote computer"

After my kid went to some less-than-savory websites, my PC at home was infested with a slew of viruses.

I figured it was time to install 7057 since I had such good luck with 7000 on my netbook.

I installed and everything appeared to be fine, but then, using the Microsoft provided Broadcom 802.11g wireless driver (just as it is labeled in Vista Ultimate, which works PERFECTLY), things started to act flakey with my internet connection.

It's a Belkin branded Broadcom card, but I have never had issues with it. After switching back to Vista it's working perfectly again.

I ran Windows updates, then started to surf the web a little to find some drivers and in the middle of doing nothing out of the ordinary, internet connectivity simply dropped.

It showed me still connected, but only for local access - no internet.

I rebooted - couldn't even connect to the wireless now.

I did a cold boot - connects but local only.

No other PC in the house was having any issues.

I've tried it using DHCP and a static IP - both of which worked on all other machines as well. No joy.

The router I am using is the first generation Belkin Pre-N, which for the past year has needed the occasional reboot, but didn't really have any serious issues. It is several years old.

As I said - no other machines had any problems. They are all running Vista Ultimate (a mix of x32 and x64), along with my netbook running x32 build 7000.

So, can I suspect that there is an issue with the Broadcom driver? Or may... Read more

Hi, I am running a Compaq Presario V3000, windows XP home. It normally has wireless connection through broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN. However, last night an error message saying that there was a problem with the device appeared. I disabled and re-enabled the device through "network connections". Immediately afterwards the connection disappeared from the network connections page. It has also disappeared from the 'Device Manager' except for the "Packet scheduler miniport" which is a 'hidden device'. The HP wireless assisstant has also gone missing. It remains as a control panel icon but it wont open. By this I mean, nothing happens at all when its clicked. I have tried the "add new hardware wizard" and am now trying to download updated drivers. But so far to no effect.

I remember a similiar problem when my computer seems to have forgotten it had a CD-ROM, where all evidence of it had disappeared. that issue resolved itself as if by magic.

Any Ideas much appreciated,
Michael

Hi there,
Not sure if I've got the right forum so sorry if I've put it in the wrong place, but here goes:

I'm running a brand new Lenovo B570 with Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and a Broadcom 802.11n wireless network adaptor.

Earlier today I was managing to connect to the internet wirelessly, though the connection kept dropping out. Then I could connect to the wireless router, but not through the internet, and now I can't connect wirelessly at all. With an ethernet cable internet access is fine, and another computer in the house connects fine to the wireless too, so it follows that the problem's with this machine.

The computer recognises that the networks are there, but it can't connect.

Any help would be appreciated, I've been at this all day.

I have a new Acer laptop with a Broadcom network adapter and can connect to a 802.11b wireless router but I couldn't connect to the router at the village library which I think has 802.11g. How do I know for sure how to set my Broadcom network adapter so it can connect to an 802.11g signal. What settings should I look for. I checked my computer's device manager but couldn't get a model number for the Broadcom adapter. I have windows vista home premium 32bit on my Acer Extensa 5420-5038.

Answer:What settings for my Broadcom wireless card

Getting the right and exact model number for the Broadcom is really key.

Try Everest Home Edition to get the specs.
Download from here and run it
- Click Reports->Report Wizard
- Get a Summary report in plain text
- You can attach the report or just copy / paste the info on your network adapter right into your post as that alone won't be alot of text

btw... most adapters are set for b&g (tho of course won't know for sure till the model number) tho have you check with the library if there are any other connection criteria?

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 running Win 8.1 Today I booted up and no wireless connections.  Clicking the wireless icon gives the message "No connections are Available:. I have turned the wireless radio off and on, rebooted a few times, and checked in the Device Manger.  It shows that the wireless adpter is working properly. I opened the Network and Sharing Center and clicked the change adapter settings.  It shows that the wireless adapter is disabled.  I clicked the enable button, but it does not change from disabled. Any suggestions GREATLY appreciated. Brian

Answer:How to enable Broadcom 802.11 ac wireless adpter

I rolled back the driver version and that seems to have solved the problem.  Not sure how this happened.  I didn't make any changes to the laptop.  The only odd thing going one was the wireless router at my home office was setting and resetting.  I had been at a client office earlier and it was working fine.

Hello,I have an Aspire E1-571G with Windows 8.1x64 (clean install, no upgrade and so on) and I've been having issues with my broadcom wireless drivers ever since I installed it. The troubleshooter showed up that there is a problem with the default gateway but here's what really happens: I can stay connected to a wireless network but after random periods of time I just lose internet access (note that it doesn't show up in the connections page, everything looks perfectly fine there) and I have to reconnect to the wifi to regain it. I have tried on multiple wifi network and it does the same thing. It works fine if I use an ethernet cable but that just makes it more frustrating.I have tried all the possible solutions I could find online like checking the power management settings, reinstalling the wifi card in safe mode, checking the priority of the wirelss connection, virtually anything. There is no hardware issue with it, it worked perfectly fine on Windows 7. I haven't been able to find wireless drivers for 8.1 and even though I have the latest drivers, it still doesn't work right. There are moments when I can keep my connection for more than 2-3 hours but there are times when it crashes every 5 minutes or so.Does anybody have any idea how to fix this instead of waiting for the drivers to be updated ? I've seen that I'm not the only one with this issue and it's a bit common for e1-571g users. For example lenovo users had the same problem and the only fix was to install the def... Read more

boboudrescu  Hello to you!  I just wanted to tell you that your symptoms and troubles are exactly the same as mine.  While I have found some extended ethernet connection by using FIXED DNS Server Addresses (Google Public Adresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), I still have the disconnection/dropped signal at least 6 to 8 times in the day.  So I know it's not a complete remedy by you may want to give that a try and see if it maintains a connection for a bit longer. I have posted information about Broadcom's announcement to get a new driver released and can only hope that it means a complete remedy to the problem with 8.1 drivers.  SOON!! So we shall see!

Hey, I am a long time reader, first time poster - but, I found some drivers that will allow AMD 64 equipped laptops with the Broadcom 54g chipset (ie HP/Compaq/Emachines) to access the internet and network wirelessly in Winddows XP 64 bit edition!!!

Note: these are for 64 bit systems running WindowsServer or XP 64 bit Editions only.

The site is:
http://www.linuxant.com/driverloader/drivers.php

It is the very first link that says generic drivers from Company "all". These are not official drivers, but they work!

Enjoy!

Hi. I am having trouble getting my Broadcom Wireless Network Adapter to work properly. I keep getting this error

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

I have a Gateway MX6027 laptop and i went to their support site and got the drivers. I run the setup and install the drivers, but after the restart, i still get the same problem. I tried unistalling the driver and reinstalling it again but that does not seem to work.

Answer:Broadcom Wireless Network Adapter

Did this device come with a cd with it if it did then just go to control panel then to system and under the hard ware tab click device manager and the name of the device with the question mark next to it well just right click and and click update drivers then with the cd in the cd rom let the windows search for it automatically and it should fix the problem if it didnt come with a disc then go to the website and downlod the drivers if that doesnt work then its probably a bad device thats when you send it back to the manufacturer

whether I am at home or coffee shops my wireless connection speed is very slow.  typically getting 1-2 MBPS download speed where the connection is otherwise transmitting at 20-25mbps. Example today - home router cisco linksys N router when hardwired to my cisco wireless router I get 27-28mbps speed but when I switch to wireless only it slows down to about 1.5mbps.  at the same time I can get 10-11mbps speed on my andriod phone using the same internet speed test.net application. Today at Starbucks - andriod phone ( samsung galaxy S ii ) downlod speed ( wireless ) is @ 11-12mbps, however when I run same speed test on my lenovo G780 ( windows 8 64bit ) i can only get 1.46mbps speed. So in essence there is something amiss with my wireless adapter card ( broadcom 802.11 )  but i can't figure out if it is card/hardware issue, a config issue or driver issue.  I searched the lenovo site for an updated driver but the download section doesn't even list the broadcom adapter driver at all, just intel, liteon and something else. I called Lenovo support and of course they said since my adpater card was in fact connecting then it was fine and they wanted to charge me to fix the problem... Please help !!

Answer:G780 with Broadcom Wireless - VERY slow

WOw, no responses here, must not be a well traveled site/forum. Well, I solved my problem finally, I got a new cisco N750 dual band router and that worked well for wireless connection finally, must have been some incompatibility issues with that older router and the new broadcom wireless card.  Was still having a few problems with overall connection to the internet so i swapped out my old mediacom modem for a new motorola 6121 modem and reconfiged the setup again and now everything is back to normal, well above normal really cause now I am getting 23-28mbps download speed when I am privisioned for 15mbps, but that is during the day mon-fri.  Ill see how it does during high traffic periods.... so far so good !!

I have a machine with an embedded Broadcom gigabit NIC running Vista Ultimate. For some reason, Vista only sees the NIC as 10/100. I have tried disabling auto negotiate on both the switch and the PC. When I try to manually set the speed and duplex on the PC, I only have 10/100 options available. I know for certain this is a gigabit NIC, but for some reason Vista does not enable that speed. I have downloaded the newest drives to no avail as well. Any help?

Answer:Broadcom NIC & Vista

The lack of options could be normal. I see 10 half, 10 full, 100 half, 100 full, and "auto". This is a common set of options, which encourage the usage of auto-negotiation, esp. for gigabit speed. Auto-negotiation is mandatory for gigabit, so there should (in theory) be no reason to require forced 1000 settings. (Of course, it's sometimes better to have the option than not for those cases where things don't work according to theory.)

Now assuming the drivers are fine and the NIC is fine, the next step might be to double-check the cabling (is it handmade or factory terminated?) and whatever's connected on the other side -- the setting should be auto, not forced. Forced gives problems in some cases.

If it's a "server" NIC, I guess the problem could be with the drivers -- I only see official Vista drivers from Broadcom for their "desktop" NICs.

I would like to express my dissatisfaction at how poor the build in WLAN card is on my Z580. I am sitting here typing this using my laptop on a G rated old USB plug in WIFI adaptor receiving full signal with my built in WIFI currently disabled as its the only way I can get a signal, yet sitting next to this laptop is my 3 year old low spec netbook which has full signal to the same router! For a fairly high spec laptop to have such a poorly performing Wireless card is beyond belief. The Broadcom drivers aren't installing the right one but if you can visit the Windows Update Center using a wired connection there is a new driver for Broadcom that works.

Lenovo and Dell both have drivers for the 4352 as well.

Yooooo! I have a Lenovo Y510p with modified BIOS so I could replace the crappy Intel wireless card that came with it (Intel Centrino N2230) for an Azurewave - Broadcom 4352. The experience has been good so far, the only problem I'm having is the low wireless signal with the card. I have other laptops that have higher range and strengths on the same place with older cards.

I've tried verifying (and even swapping) the cables and noted no difference. I asked on another forum and they told me that it could be that the card is not receiving enough power, but I have yet to find a settings in the BIOS or in Windows that dwindles its performance. I have recently updated the driver from Lenovo's website and it didn't improve a bit.

Any suggestions to improve the wireless signal? Thanks.

Hello, I am having many problems with the Broadcom Wireless adapter that came with my acer. Around every hour it disconnects from my wireless router, and I know the router is working fine. I have to disable and reenable the wireless adapter in my lappy to get it to reconnect to the router, and after another hour it does it once again. Along with that, every so often, it doesnt send or recieve packets very fast, its like its working in extra-slow mode.... Ive downloaded the latest drivers for the adapter from the Acer webpage, and they dont seem to help.... Is there any fix for this problem? Another thing, is this a widespread problem with Broadcom Adapter?

Thank you,
Rekar
