I upgraded my Ideapad Z580 i5 to Windows 10. Big m...

Question: I upgraded my Ideapad Z580 i5 to Windows 10. Big m...

I got taken in by all of the messages from Microsoft insisting that my computer was fully compatible and that I should upgrade to Windows 10. It never dawned on me that I should have checked the Lenovo website first to be sure. After the upgrade I noticed two things: (1) the system seemed to be working pretty well, and (2) I couldn't find Dolby Home Theater v4 (one of my absolute favorite programs). When I finally looked at the Lenovo website I found the following page with the heading, "Dolby Home Theater does not work after Windows 10 upgrade" (https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht104006).When" target="_blank" class="invilink">https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht104006).When I checked the "Windows 10 upgrade supported list" (https://support.lenovo.com/documents/ht103535), as the page instructs, I saw that Ideapad Z580 wasn't on it. The page goes on to say that if your machine isn't on the list, "drivers have not been updated for that machine, and Lenovo does not recommended an upgrade to Windows 10." The page continues with possible solutions, but does it make sense to even try them? Then I found another page on the Lenovo site entitled, "Windows 10 Upgrade Guide - IdeaPad and Lenovo Notebook" (https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht103611). The news here wasn't any better. It says, "The following listed computer models include hardware components not fully compatible with Windows 10. Therefore, upgrading these models to Windows 10 is not recommended." Unfortunately, Z580 is on this list.So there are, according to Lenovo, software and hardware issues and two recommendations NOT to upgrade the Z580 to Windows 10. I already did the upgrade. I haven't run every program and I'm not even sure that every program, other than Dolby Home Theater, got through the upgrade (e.g., Youcam didn't). But the system seems to be running pretty well; it might even be running better than it did under Windows 7. I really miss the Dolby program. I have 30 days from July 29 to decide if I want to return to Windows 7. So I have some questions:1. Since the system seems to be running without any major problems (apart from Dolby), should I stay with Windows 10?2. If I stay with Windows 10, should I try the solutions described in "Dolby Home Theater does not work after Windows 10 upgrade" (https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht104006) to restore Dolby Home Theater?3. Since Lenovo says that the Z580 has "hardware components not fully compatible with Windows 10", am I headed for problems if I continue using Windows 10?4. Since there are drivers that haven't been updated, at least for the Dolby program and maybe for others, would it be better to revert back to Windows 7?5. Is it possible that Lenovo will eventually update those drivers? If so, does anyone know when?6. I've heard that going back to Windows 7 can be very tricky. Is it worth the effort?7. If there are missing drivers as well as hardware components that aren't fully compatible with Windows 10, why does my system seem to be running properly?Sorry for the long post. I know there are posts on this Forum that address these issues, but they are from a year ago - literally from August 2015 - and it's possible things have changed since then. Thanks in advance for your help!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:z580 - Which password to use if laptop is in safe mode ideapad z580 ?

hi akshu_13,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you're running on Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1, you should use the same password that you've set on your account.

If you're running on Windows XP, by default, you will see an additional Administrator account and the password is set to none. If you'll be using your own account and not the Administrator one then you should use the same password like in normal Windows.

Note:
Windows 8/8.1 can use a Microsoft Account and a Local Account. If you boot in Safe Mode only (not Safe Mode with Networking), you won't be able to use the Microsoft Account login as it requires internet access to verify your credentials, thus, you will need to use a Local Account.

Let me know if this helps you out.

Hi everyone, i updated my Ideapad from Windows 8 to 8.1 (with windows store), and after the process i noted a lot of problems:1) i can't control screen's brightness, loked to the maximal levels (i tried with the normal buttons and also in the control panel, installed the previous version of intel HD graphics and again the new, but nothing)2) wifi connection (always problematic) does not work anymore at home, but in university yes... (i tried here too reinstalling drivers)3) the center of the bottom of the notebook gets hot in a few minutes (maybe where is the graphic chip)4) one key recovery does'n work, so the backup i've done the first day with my computer isn't usableif anyone can help me...

I am working on a system running Windows 7 Home Professional.  The system will no longer boot to windows and stops at the Lenovo splash screen.  I can access the bios and I slaved the HD to my desktop and found errors on the HD including cross linked files and folders.  My system repaired the errors but still won't boot up.  The main goal here is to get Windows up and running again so that I can save all files and folders in MS Office.  No pst files exist.  I have ordered the complex services support package and it should be here in a day or two.  My question is, can Windows be resurrected in a manor that will not destroy MS Office/Outlook without loosing all files and subfolders.  Should I try to restore the MBR in debug mode?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone, I bought Ideapad Z580 in November 2012 installed with windows 7. Leagally upgraded to windows 8 under windows 8 upgrade programme. Now i am very desperate to upgrade further to windows 8.1, however i came across tons of problems faced by Z580 users regarding power mangement, display issues, wifi conncetivity and other tons of incompatability. I am requesting some system expert to tell me that if i proceed with the upgrade what could be the possible consequences? And wether it is still recommended to proceed with the upgrade?  Also i came across one forum wherein it was written that upgrading from windows 7 has terminated the lenovo warranty. I am holding 3 years extended warranty. Can installing new OS can result in termination of hardware warranty? Sounds strange.

Answer:Ideapad Z580 Upgrade to WIndows 8.1

Hi beats_1989,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Windows 8.1 has just been officially released and just like any other Operating System Patch, updates and fixes will sure to come. Most specially with the drivers, Im pretty sure sable drivers will be created for Windows 8,1 Support.
If I'm in your situation I'll Wait a little bit more until all issues has been resolved by community members and Lenovo.

You may encounter Driver and Software Compatibility Issues. Where in you might need to search in and out of Lenovo for Driver updates and do it manually.

Upgrading the Windows OS will not Void your Hardware Warranty, But their support for Preloaded Windows and Lenovo Software components may not be supported over the phone.

Still Any proven Hardware Defect or Malfunction will be covered by Lenovo through the coverage of your warranty, and there may be times that they will have to reload the Original OS/Software incase the Software / OS upgrade causes some hardware not to function properly. But surely you will be notified prior to making any changes on your Upgraded OS or Software.

Thanks,

Answer:what is best windows for lenovo ideapad z580 ?

Hi jimrako,

This is really a tricky question because it depends on your hardware.

The best way I can think of answering this is by providing you the requirements for each then you can check against your requirements:

Windows 10:

RAM:
1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit
Hard disk space:
16 GB for 32-bit OS 20 GB for 64-bit OS

Graphics card:
DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
Display:
800x600
Cons: a bit of a learning curve as it changes a lot

Windows 8

Processor: 1 GHz or faster processor
Memory(RAM): 1 GB RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
Hard Disk: 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
Graphics: DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
Cons: Without Touch it is not intuitive

Windows 7

Processor: 1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
Memory(RAM): 1 GB of RAM (32-bit)/2 GB of RAM (64-bit)
Hard Disk: 16 GB of available disk space (32-bit)/20 GB (64-bit)
Graphics: DirectX 9 graphics device with Windows Display Driver Model 1.0 or higher driver
Cons: None really, it is awesome

Windows XP

Processor: 233 MHz CPU
Memory(RAM): 64 MB of RAM (may limit performance and some features)
Hard Disk: 1.5 GB of available hard disk space
Graphics: Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor
Cons: No longer supported by Microsoft

Again, this is my opinion, without a touch sc... Read more

Going crazy here and the support so far from Lenovo has been beyond poor so I'm turning to the forums.  I have two brand new Z580 Ideapad's, the only reason we bought them was they were cheap and had bluetooth.  Well I cannot activate bluetooth in anyway on the laptops.  There is no switch, I used the FN+F5 key and all I am prompted with is the Turn Wireless on or Off, nothing about bluetooth.  I've installed, uninstalled and reinstalled the Lenovo Power Management because I saw a number of posts referring to this piece of software.  I checked BIOS and only saw the option for Wireless.  All drivers are installed and reinstalled multiple times.  I see the Aerthos BT stuff running in the background and there are no conflicts in Device Manager, even looked for hidden devices. The laptops are Windows 7 32bit Enterprise, clean installs with only windows updates and ONLY Lenovo drivers installed IE I didn't use the Windows Update drives for anything.  Any help on where to go or what to do is appreciated.  My next move is to return these and never purchase Lenovo again if I can't get this resolved by Friday as my client is not happy at all. James

Answer:Ideapad Z580 Bluetooth + Windows 7/32 Not working

hi jrhaile,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

That's quite a hassle you got there. From what I know, if you press Fn+F5, you will get a "Lenovo Wireless Device Settings" menu.
 Spoiler (Highlight to read)
If you get the menu but you only see the wireless, what you can try is to:
1, Remove the AC adapter and Battery then press & hold the power button for 30secs (this drains the power off the unit).
2. Reconnect both AC adapter and battery and boot into the BIOS by pressing F2, when you're in, press F9 to set BIOS to default and press F10 to save and exit BIOS.
3. Boot into Windows and try to pair a blueooth device

If the same problem occurs you can try to reseat the Bluetooth module by checking the PCI Express compartment on page 42 of the hardware maintenance manual.

Hope this helps.

Hi. I've owned a Lenovo Ideapad Z580 for a few months now. I've noticed that in task manager disk usage is often going to 100% and this is due to "system". I'm guessing that means windows 8 is causing this bottleneck, but i believe there's a problem with windows 8 because it shouldn't constantly be bringing my laptop to a slowdown by using 100% of the disk. It could also be possible the driver need's updating or this is just an issues with my laptop i'm unsure. I've looked hard to find sollutions but can't find anything. If anyone has any help or a sollution please let me know. Cheers!

Answer:Ideapad z580 - Disk Usage 100% in windows 8

Also the post makes it sound like i'm asking for a windows 8 solution but i'm actually wondering if anyone else with a z580 has had this problem too, if the problem has affected other z580 users, and if there is some kind of sollution to the issue.

Hi All,  I have ideapad Z580 notebook (i7-3612QM @2.1GHz) with Windows 7 Home premium Service pack 1 (64Bits). I have troubles in my computer and want to reset windows to factory settings. I don't have any recovery discs, previous system image or OEM files to recover windows. I have tried 'system recovery' many-many times but if also ends up to the error. I had also tried 'Lenovo onekey recovery' but it also doesn't starts properly to reset windows.  Only option I can see (may be) is the windows recovery system with OEM (or recovery media) files (please correct me if I am wrong, and guide with other options).  Can somebody who has the ideapad Z580 with Windows 7 home premium SP1 help to share the initial OEM files (or recovery disc images (ISO files or so) ) so that I can recover my windows from this serious trap. Please advise if my understanding is completely wrong and may be there is any other option which I can use to solve this. Many thanks in advance.

I have a lenovo Z580 pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Basic that I upgraded to Windows 8 around 2 years back and then subsequently to Windows 8.1. Yesterday, I saw that the support.lenovo.com page for my product was showing a BIOS update for Windows 7 and 8. Thinking that it would run on Windows 8.1 also, I downloaded it and installed it, but alas I was wrong, and as soon as the update happened my system stopped booting and was stuck on the boot menu and kept on asking which device to boot from. I then changed the Boot Mode from the BIOS to Legacy and was able to boot into the system, but as we know the boot process becomes slow. The new BIOS version 5FCN95WW. While updating I did not take note of the previos BIOS version and nor did I take a backup of it. If anyone has the same specification as my laptop, please tell me the current version of BIOS. And also if you have not changed your BIOS version please upload a copy of your .WPH file.

Try disconnecting your device first. Uninstall the driver with the yellow mark. Reboot then try connecting your device. In Windows 8.1 usually you don't need to install the usb drivers Windows itself will provide/install the driver.

Hi, i Have recently updated my Ideapad Z580 to windows 8. While using the power management application i came to know it misses out the modes as it was in Windows 7. Its does not even shows up the visual display when you press the Thermal management key.  I have to go to the hidden icon tab to select the Energy management, wherein there are options which i cannot understand what are they use for like Intelligent power saver. The options provided are very different from the ones provided in the Windows 7 version. Also, the function keys & other keypad layout got changed when i upgraded to Windows 8. Like the function for turning the Wi-Fi & bluetooth in windows 7 got changed. To write special character (@) changed. its now typing (") when upgraded to windows 8. Function key feature (Fn+F4) not working in windows 8. Can anyone tell me is the windows 8 Energy management application better than the windows 7 one or viceversa. if not, is lenovo trying to upgrade the features in the windows 8 version of energy management application & other applications like in the windows 7 ones.   Thank you.

Hello, I am having problem with wifi connection on my ideapad z580, win 8, intel core i5 64 bit.Wifi disconnects frequently while other laptop and devices are still connected. So the problem is not with the net connectrion but with laptop. Please some one help me to solve this problem.

Answer:ideapad z580 wifi not working properly with windows 8

hi yashikabajaj08,

Welcome to the Forums.

You're issue might be similar to this thread.

If you have gotten the problem after updating the wireless driver either from the Intel website or windows update, try to  rollback the driver from the previous version or perform a System Restore to undo the changes that were made.

If the above doesn't apply to you, can you provide the wireless driver of your wifi module and try to boot into Safe Mode with Networking to isolate if there's a third party security software that might be blocking your connection.

Let me know your findings,

Dear Team, I bought Z580 ideapad last week with Windows 8 pre installed. I wanted to take backup of my windows 8 OS for safe keeping. If in case my OS crashes or if I change my OS from Windows 8 to other OS and later if i want to change it back to my licensed Windows 8. I heard about this onekey recovery. Is this option available only for recovering the OS during crash ? or Can I take backup of my OS using this feature ?. Please tell me how to take backup of my Windows 8 OS using onekey recovery or by any other method avilable. So that at any time i might be able to have my licensed OS.

Answer:Taking Windows 8 Backup using one key recovery on my Z580 Ideapad

Hi friendLenovo offers one key reocvery to the user to revert to the factory install only. You can create a custom backup of your c drive via the onekey recovery application in windows. However, to use that backup, you will have to boot to onekey recovery by pressing the onekey button next to the power button to power on the laptop. So if somehow the okr breaks( i hope it doesn't), you will neither be able to reset to factory defaults nor use the backup created by you. So you can use the inbuilt recovery options of windows 8. See this threadhttp://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-8/Various-Ways-of-recovery-in-Windows-8/td-p/947369And this linkhttp://support.lenovo.com/en_IN/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT076024Hope this helps

Hi, I bought my Z580 on the 03/04/2013 apart from the keys sticking & seriously long boot times all was fine until yesterday while in the middle of using, it crashed to a screen saying it was compiling an error report due to an issue (didn?t make a note of error as I didn?t think it much of a problem) it shutdown then failed to restart to windows giving the error -"Recovery. Answer:Ideapad Z580 Crashed & wont reboot to windows.

hi Elv,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums

From the looks of it, you may have a bad HDD or a bad memory module that's why you can't do a system recovery or even do a fresh installation of Windows 8. To verify this, you need to run a diagnostic on the HDD/RAM

I personally use UltimateBootCD for the diagnostics. To create a bootable CD:
1. Download the the UBCD ISO
2. Burn the ISO using imgburn
3. Insert the CD that you just created into the defective computer and reboot
4. Upon reboot, continuously press F12 and boot from the ODD/CD-DVD

To burn the diagnostic softwre on a flashdrive, follow this guide.

If you get any errors, you will need to contact lenovo for service.

Hope this helps.

Hey guys,I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 in December, and ever since I have received it, I have not been able to utilize the Nvidia GeForce GT635M graphics included with the laptop. My laptop has Windows 8 64 bit included. I reinstalled the drivers from the Lenovo website (even tried the Chinese website as I read some people have better luck with their drivers). I installed the chipset, then intel hd drivers, and finally the NVidia. I can open the Nvidia control panel, and set preferences to use the Nvidia card. However, no application will actually use the Nvidia card. Every benchmark is using the HD4000 intel graphics, and some games in which I can choose the graphics within the game only show the Intel graphics.I have set the power plan settings to high performance, and every other setting that I can think will affect it, with no success. Is this simply because there are no compatible switchable graphics drivers with Windows 8 as of yet?  Just trying to make sense of this as I bought the laptop for light computer gaming, and cannot use the integrated card at all.

Answer:Ideapad Z580 Nvidia GT635M graphics problem (windows 8)

hi AutoXMan,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

I just want to verify if you have also checked the BIOS to see if the Graphic Device is set to Optimus.

I created a separate partition for installing Win XP Pro.  I labeled it F.  When I run the Win XP Pro install disk, all I see is the full 500 GB partition available.  This has worked on other notebooks with Vista and 7 preinstalled.  What am I doing wrong?

Answer:Install Windows XP Pro as a dual boot OS with preinstalled Win 8 on Ideapad Z580.

The best way to dusal boot a NTLDR os(Win XP) and a BOOTMGR os(Win 8,7,Vista) is to install the ntldr os first and then the windows 8 os. Orelse it could be difficult to use win 8 after win xp installtion though it is possible by using boot sector restoration tool.http://www.google.co.in/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=boot%20sector%20restoration%20tool&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&...Hope this helps

I bought a ideapad z580 3 months ago and thought of upgrading to windows 8 (64bit). it was a pain. finally i had to revert to windows 7 because of driver installation errors & missing drivers. Can somebody tell me why i got these errors (i did a clean install of the os & tried running setup with admin privileges)realtek driver - No driver supported in this driver packagecamera -the setup program for the target device is not foundnvidia-unable to execute the command linetouchpad-setup asked for 64bit exe error also i got 'target device not found' & 'unable to execute the command line' errors for wireless, intel managment driver, vga driveronly chipset and energy management drivers installed properly.   I called lenovo chat support team & they helped me with installing driver by browsing the path in devmgmt.msc..thats not the normal way to install a driver. You click on a setup & it should install. Also i dont get to see 'Lenovo OneKey theatre' software on 'Other Softwares' category.I should call these as buggy drivers for windows 8 and dono why lenovo is pushing it to the support site. Ideapad Z580 users please try installing win8 in a virtual machine before upgrading your pc.am so frustated. spent more than 4 hours on Upgrade & still achieved nothing.

I own a Ideapad Z580, and upgraded to Windows 8 yesterday. I noticed that the Intelligent Touchpad stopped working after the upgrade. I installed the appropriate driver, Synaptics Touchpad Driver for Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit) - IdeaPad Z380/Z480/Z580, hoping it'd work, but to no avail. I also tried reinstalling/overwriting my existing 64-bit driver when prompted by my system to do so.The scrolling, pinching, and sideways scrolling do not work at all; it is quite frustrating. Please help.

The right click button no longer works on my touchpad or mouse. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, among many other fixes. Nothing has worked thus far. Any suggestions?

Answer:IdeaPad Z580 right click function does not work after Windows 8.1 update

If it is some hardware issue it cannot be fixed using synaptics driver installation but if you are talking about 2finger tapping action for right click then here is the solution.install latest synaptics driver for windows 8.1 from lenovo website , then restart your system. After restart , press    (windows+R) then type "regedit" then open registery editor, now use the picture to navigate to that registery entry, then check for the entry '2FingerTapAction'  . if its not there create new dword using right click and then change its name exactly as '2FingerTapAction' and now change its value to '2' , sign out once , then it should work fine

Lenovo Ideapad z580 Win10 64 I updated the bios with the private update (I know now that I should have used the public update) Then it showed this menu:http://i.imgur.com/kZaO2tf.jpg Whenever I selected HDD, the screen would go black for a couple of seconds and return to this menu. I fixed it by going into BIOS and changing bootmode from UEFI to Legacy. it booted but now everything is slow. It takes 5 mins to boot up and a further 15 minutes to reach usable speeds (I only have 4 startup programs). I tried changing it back to UEFI and it gives me the same problem as shown in the picture. I tried installing the public update, but it says that I cannot update as the current bios version is the same or newer. I went into BIOS and enabled BIOS back flash, and now when I try to start the public update, it just crashes. I also cannot access the start menu (this problem may be seperate and unrelated) I have backed up files and am prepared to do a clean reinstall of Win10, but I feel this won't work as it's a BIOS issue. The computer is unusably slow: what should I do? Thanks

Answer:Drivers missing after a Windows 8 Pro x64 UEFI Install on a Lenovo Z580 ideapad

Hello NikosGr, Windows 8 is still a new Operating System, therefore glitches still need to be worked out in future updates. Make sure to go to Lenovo's support website and see if there are any drivers for those devices for Windows 8. Try the Windows 7 drivers too as some of those will work with Windows 8. As for the Broadcom card being slow, they are decent cards, but not the best. I've had issues with mine when I first got my laptop. Hope that helps.

Answer:Z580 Ideapad restarts laptop after 20 seconds of being in windows - How can I stop it restarting?

Doing a factory restore through OKR will result to a state of the os where the present updates are not yet installed thus the restarts after the updates. One way to prevent windows from restarting due to an update is to not connect to the internet.

Hi guys, as with most people on this forum I would guess that my arrival is in the same nature. I have a problem, and I need help. And while most people will also have read the same topics as me regarding this problem (that seems to be quite frequent), I have yet to find a solution. So, my problem is I bought this laptop 3 days ago as it has "1GB dedicated graphics" which based on a search of the Lenovo website was an Nvidia GT635m graphics card, happy with this, I bought the laptop. I have since received the laptop and I can only find Intel 4000HD graphics available and unfortunately they just do not cut it. That said, I have read this forum (and many others) And here is what I have tried:- I have updated all my drivers based on what I could find on the Lenovo support website. Including Chipset, Management Engine and Intel VGA- I have TRIED to install Nvidia Optimus and GT635m graphics drivers. Which would not allow following error; "Graphics driver could not find compatible hardware"- Following another forum suggestion I read I tried looking at the BIOS to ensure Optimus was enabled as the graphics device only to find that there was no Optimus or Graphics Device option in the BIOS at all. And with that I have read all that I think is relevant and now I'm starting to think that the Lenovo I've bought does not have the Nvidia graphics set that I thought when I purchased and I may have spent a lot of money for something that will not do the job for me. Does anyone... Answer:i have a ideapad z580 . i want clean install windows 7 ultimate 64bit . my disk must be gpt or mbr ?

In general, if uefi is enable the disk can be formatted as gpt style partition disk. If uefi is disable the disk can be formatted as an mbr partition style disk. The Win 7 64 bit installer can install Windows in a gpt style disk.

Hello,I just installed the free Windows 10 upgrade on my Lenovo Ideapad p400 touch last night.  I woke up this morning and booted up my computer, and everything was fine until I attempted to change the brightness.  When I tried to do this, my screen went very dim, and now I can't adjust the brightness (and I can't read my screen well, either).  Normally, I would install/reinstall the video driver in order to fix this problem (recommended for other users with similar issues), but I currently do not see a Windows 10 version of the driver I need on the Lenovo website.I was wondering:a) if/when a new driver would be available to install (if that's the recommended solution)b) is there something else going on?c) Windows 10 allows you to revert back to Windows 8.1 within the first month of use.  Should I just do this?d) Is the p400 touch capable of running Windows 10? Why or why not?Thank you!

Answer:Upgraded to Windows 10 on Lenovo Ideapad p400 touc...

If you look in this list -
https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht103535

P400 is not listed as a supported system. I doubt it will be supported in the future but you can always call and ask Lenovo directly.

Why it is going dim?
This is because of the Chipset or the Intel drivers.

What you can do to make it functional?
- Try uninstalling the chipset and Intel drivers --- Restart --- Let drivers install automatically and check.
These can be uninstalled from "Device Manager" and "Programs & Features" in Control Panel

- Revert back to windows 8.1 (This option may or may not work - Did not work on my system)
- Reset laptop to factory settings

good luck.

Hello All, I have a question, I am asking this on behalf of my stepmother. She recently upgraded to Windows 10 with her Lenovo Ideapad P500 Touch. She has informed me that her the touchscreen no longer functions. It acts like your regular monitor now. I was curious if it would be a driver issue, or would it be that the touchscreen is not compatible with Windows 10?

Answer:Upgraded to Windows 10, Ideapad P500 Touchscreen not working

Hi Sledoux,

Welcome to the Forums.

Also check if the touch screen drivers are disabled. If they are disabled, right click on it and click on enable.
Method 1: First try to run Hardware and Device trouble-shooter. Follow the steps.

Press Windows Key +R, type Control Panel. b.Type troubleshooting in the search bar, click on troubleshooting. c. Click on Hardware and Sound, click on Hardware and Devices. d. Follow the steps from the wizard to run the trouble-shooter.

Method 2: I will suggest you to try and update the touch screen drivers and check if that helps.

Press Windows and X keys together. b. Expand Human Interface Devices.   c. Locate the Touch screen driver. d. Right-click on the driver icon and click on Update Driver Software. e. Click on Search automatically for the updated driver software. f. Follow the onscreen instructions to update the touchpad driver.

I hope the above information helps.

Regards,

Hi, I'm looking for a laptop for college that can also run some games.  I'm not hoping to run Crysis on high or anything...I just want to be able to have Portal, TF2, etc. look moderately good and play without lag.  I've found 2 laptops that look promising, but need help deciding. First is the Z580 21512KU model (about $770 on Amazon):-Intel Core_i5_3210M Processor 2.5GHz (3MB Cache)-6 GB DIMM RAM-750GB 5400rpm Hard Drive-NVIDIA GT630M 1GB DDR3 Then we have the Y570 ($750 on Lenovo's online shop):-i7-2670QM Processor( 2.2GHz 1333MHz 6MB)-8.0GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333 MHz-1TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive-NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 1GB Which one will be able to run my games better?  The Y570 seems like a better deal (larger hard drive, more RAM, i7 over i5), but I've heard that the .3 GHz difference in processor speed makes the i5 better.  Is this true?  Also, which graphics card will be better?  All in all, which is a better bang for my buck? Thanks!

Answer:IdeaPad Z580 vs. IdeaPad Y570?

Hi, I was exactly in the same dilemma; they are both priced very similarly. I opted for z580 because of several reasons. Y570 gets hotter overal. The i7 processor makes absolutely no difference in games; it's only useful for video editing. The 555M graphics card in the Y570 is the nerfed version of the card, which makes it performance wise similar to the GT 630M:http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-555M.41933.0.html(96 cores 753MHz (GF108), 128Bit GDDR5, e.g. Lenovo Y570p / Y560p)The hood on the Z580 looks way better (personal preference). The z580 has Ivy Bridge. Also, the screen on the z580 is a little better (AUO vs SEC on Y570). Bottom line: I'm very happy with my choice. Excellent build quality and decent performance. The screen is one of the best 1366x768 screens I've seen.I've played the following games so far:Crysis 2 on gamer settings, average 30 fpsshift 2 on high settings, 30-50 fpsmax payne 3 on medium, average 30+ fpsthe witcher 2, low settings, average 30 fps.modern warfare 3, high 40 fps Hope this helps

Question: Ideapad Z580

Hi, I have purchased an Ideapad Z580 and i need a new partition on it. Obviously Lenovo come shipped with 4 partitions already and I dont really want to interfere with them as it will stop the OKR from working. My next option is to install an additional HDD into the laptop. Before I take it to bits to have a look, does anyone know if there is a spare bay inside that I could fit a new HDD into? Thanks,Harrison

Answer:Ideapad Z580

There isnt a bay for a spare hdd. If you want you could use a hard disk caddy in place of cd rom.

However, I could still use the webcam on skype, I just couldn't install the application that would let me take pictures with cool effects. I was going through the files on the disc and, not knowing such about computers, thought that it might be the software overall that was incompatible...but maybe there's just one file that I could download! Yeah. I'm stupid. I found something that said "64 bit" (I think that's all it said) and thought "Hey! this is a 64 bit! maybe this is what I need!" so I installed it. it looked like things were going fine. Then as I was finishing up, the background (the desktop) went blue. I still had skype open, though. My boyfriend said I probably just needed to restart it. so I did. now I can't get past the login screen. I log in and it's just a black screen.I called support, but I couldn't hear him very well. We tried multiple things. They didn't work. Any ideas? /:

Answer:Please help! Ideapad z580

hi sydthefairebrat,

Welcome to the Forums.

After you login, can you try to:
1. Press the Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys to open task manager. If the task manager opens up, click File > New Task (Run ..) > type explorer then press enter. If you get your desktop screen with all the icons, you can uninstall the camera software to undo the changes.

2. Interrupt the loading of Windows 8 to enterpush-button reset mode (this is like a recovery environment to restore the pc fromr previous working state). To do this, hold the power button while Windows 8 is loading up (you need to do this twice).  From here, you can:
2a. boot into Safe Mode and uninstall the software that caused the problem
2b. do a System Restore to undo the changes
2c  refresh your Windows 8 PC

3. Alternatively, If you have created a recovery drive using this method, you can boot from it and follow the steps 2a-2c.

Hope this helps

Hey Lonovo community.I just purchased a Z580 and I my intent was to upgrade it. It came with the i7 3520M, 500GB hard drive, and 4GB of ram. I can upgrade the RAM and HDD just fine, but I want to upgrade the GPU as well. It came with just the Intel 4000HD graphics. The built-in GPU is alright, but I'd like to install a Nvidia GT640M. I assume that the motherboards are the same across all the Z580s, so am I correct in thinking that there should be a slot open for a secondary GPU in this thing? And if there is a slot, I am having trouble finding a GPU chip to buy. Any help is appreciated!

Answer:IdeaPad Z580 GPU Help

There are no slots for graphics card in Z580. Those Z580s with the GT 640M have GPU chip soldered to the motherboard. Those Z580s without the dedicated graphics chip does not have a slot where you can solder the GPU. Besides, there is no GT 640M that is packaged as an MXM card, and only high end gaming laptops (GTX 670M or higher) have MXM slots in order to upgrade their graphics card.

Dear forum,I recently bought a steinberg ur22 usb audio interface. Whenever it is connected to my aptop wj.dows will freeze sooner or later, sometimes after half an hour, sometimes after one or two hours. I cannot find anything in windows event viewer about it. I was wondering if anyone had similar issues? I have tge laptop for over a year and this was never a problem. Any ideas? Thanks!Z580Core i78gbwindows 7

Answer:ideapad z580 usb issue

Hello everyone, REply to myself. Could not get the problem fixed, returned the unit. Bought a miditech audiolink pro. But I get the same problems. What is wrong with lenovo usb? I have exhausted all options with the manufacturer. Disabled the onboard sound and it still happens. Lenovo technical support won't help because it's 3rd party hardware and it's their responsibility to make sure it's compatible. However the steinberg support said they never had this issue reported before. So it has to be something with the laptop. I cannot find anything related online happening to anyone else. So I hope someone can help me out. I bought this laptop a year ago for 800 euros hoping to use it for music production and it would be pretty bad if that money was wasted. So maybe someone from lenovo reads this and could contact me? Thanks. Regards,

Hi guys, Bit of a peculiar problem related to VPN access. Does anyone know of any software installed on fresh out of the box Z580 that might interfere with VPN connections? I'm connecting into a watchguard firewall using their VPN software and can get a link but it won't receive data (transmitting seems ok). I've tried disabling the Windows firewall but to no avail. I've never had issues installing on other Windows 7 machines so I'm deducing that there must be something Lenovo specific that regulates VPN traffic. Connection is via IPSec. Ta

Got a new Ideapad Z580 today and it doesn't charge at all. It turns on OK with the power supply attached and the batter claims to be at 87% (plugged in, not charging) but that never changes. Even after like 8 hours solid charging (some with the laptop off, some with it on) it instantly turns off as soon as you unplug the charger.  The orange battery light never stopped flashing orange. I don't believe this is anything to do with the energy management software as the same thing happens if it's just showing the BIOS screen or it's running any boot disk / CD based OS you care to mention. I went into the energy management software to see what that said and the battery health section said battery destroyed!

Answer:New Ideapad Z580 does not charge at all

hi NozzaC,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Can you try to:
1. Remove the AC adapter and battery and shutdown the machine
2. Hold the power button for 20secs
3. Reconnect the AC adapter and turn the machine ON
4. When you get into Windows, slide the battery back IN
5. Open Energy Management > Battery and see if you can set the settings to Maximum Battery Life.Spoiler (Highlight to read)
If you get the same error, I recommend you contact lenovo on how to go about replacing the battery.

I got my laptop nearly a year ago, but haven't used it due to the fact my employer bought me a laptop instead to use for business as well as personal. But I left the company, had to give back the laptop unfortunately, and now that I've been on for about an hour I'm having some problems I just don't know how to fix. My wi-fi connection works on every device except for this laptop. It'll work for 10 minutes straight, then stop and when disconnect and then reconnect it'll work for 2-5 minutes then stop working again. So I'll click troubleshoot and it'll come up with "The default gateway is not available," every time without fail and it'll say its been fixed and it'll work but 5-30 minutes later it'll repeat the whole problem and I have to troubleshoot again so it'll work, which never lasts longer than 30 minutes! It's very frustrating, especially since I'm starting to take online classes and now my computer is just completely malfunctioning. Please does anyone know what I need to do to fix this?

Answer:Help! Wi-fi Issue W/ IdeaPad z580

hi LadyAmber13,

Welcome to the Forums.

Your issue might be similar to this thread.

Can you Try to:
1. Boot in Safe Mode with Networking and observe the wireless connection. If the Wi-Fi is stable, download and run the Mcafee Removal tool. When finished, reboot the computer and observe

2. As per jimjam1022's post, disabling Windows Firewal and performing a winsock reset helps solves the issue. To do a winsock reset, run a command prompt as admin and type the following (press enter after each line):

ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset

Hope this helps

A couple of weeks ago I was using my laptop and I noticed I couldn't click physically with the pad, I had to tap in order to click. I then noticed that the mouse pad had caved to the inside of the laptop, which means I can't click anymore; I can click but I have to apply a lot of pressure to the mousepad. Is there an easy fix for this? Please help me, thank you.

Answer:ideapad Z580 mouse pad

Hi JEBeltran,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that the Touchpad Sensitivity towards tapping is not working as expected. I suggest you to change the sensitivity setting for the touchpad and check if the issue persists, below are the steps to access the Touchpad settings:

Please click Start , enter mouse in the search field, and then select the Mouse control panel program from the search results.
Then in the Device Settings tab of the Mouse Properties panel, select the Synaptic TouchPad device and click theSettings button.
Now you can adjust the TouchPad settings for scrolling, buttons, touch sensitivity, edge sensitivity, and gesture actions to suit your personal preferences. Please let me know the findings.

Hope to hear back soon

Hello everybody. I've just bought ideapad Z580 and I'm running it with Win 7 x64-bit.Everything is OK until I noticed something is wrong with the picture. It's a bit grainy/My former notebook was 17'' and with higher resolution so I thought the problem was in me with a smaller screen/resolution.But then again the picture should be crystal clear. It's more visible on white screen and on small thumbnails. It's like very very tiny vertical lines between the pixels.Don't get me wrong - its barely visible but I know it and it bugs me.I probably could live with that but I don't feel very comfortable. The drivers are from the provided CD and the rosolution is 1366x768.I've read about similar problems with older Lenovo models but didn't figure out what to do.So is it just me or the problem is with the LED panel?

Answer:Ideapad z580 screen

Hello Labriss,

Welcome, your query is related to appearance of screen resolution and vertical lines, for that you need to re-install the graphics driver from the below mentioned web link.

http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/in/en/DriversDownLoads/APR_Driver_List.aspx?CategoryID=780080&OS=0

After that restart the system and check whether the is resolved.

Hello,I currently have a Lenovo Ideapad Z580, which has the following specs:Intel i3-2370MNvidia GT Geforce 630M4GB DDR3 RAM500GB ATA Hard Disk.I'm wondering what upgrades are possible...., as far as I know the GPU can't be upgraded since it's soldered to the motherboard. CPU-Z shows that my CPU socket is an 988B rPGA (Pin Grid Array?), which is probably removable? Also here (http://shop.lenovo.com/ISS_Static/WW/EMEA/merchandising/pdf/en/Z580_DS_EN.pdf), it says: Up to 2nd or 3rd gen Intel® Core? i7 processor Which means I can upgrade to say one of the processors listed there (e.g. Intel i7-3612QM?). As for RAM, crucial says an additional 4GB upgrade is available. Am I missing anything?

My basically brand-new Ideapad Z580 has decided to not charge when I plug it in. I registers that the AC Adapter is connected but will not charge. The only way i can get it to charge is by restarting the computer while it is already plugged in. If the AC Adapter gets disconnected at any time, charging does not resume when plugged back in.

Answer:Ideapad Z580 won't charge

This is because of a setting in lenovo energy management, which limits the battery charge to 60% and stops charging afte the level reaches 60%.To change this setting, open the lenovo energy management appliation by using the touch buttons or open it from the system tray icon, then in battery seting change from Battery protection mode or optimize for battery lifetime to optimize for battery runtime.A more easier way to change this is by shutting down the laptop, removing battery and unplugging the charger and then press the power button for 40 seconds(without any power source). Then Reboot the laptop and see if it works.Hope this Helps

Hello,     I bought a Ideapad Z580 here in the US, and would be gifting it to my brother who stays in the UK. Should I register the laptop with his details (UK address, etc)  (or he can register the laptop when he gets it) so that he can get the laptop serviced under the International Warranty Service if he has to? Or can he avail the IWS even if it registered under my name?   Thanks,  nagesh

I just bought a new Western Digital My Passport external hard drive. It works perfectly when plugged into the USB 2.0 slots, but has constant disconnecting problems when plugged into the USB 3.0 slots. It'll disconnect and then immediately reconnect. I tried my brother's harddrive (same model) and it has the same problem. Also, my Logitech MX 1000 works perfectly fine when the bluetooth receiver is plugged into the USB 2.0 slot, but becomes laggy and slow when plugged into the USB 3.0 slot. I updated all the firmware for the devices, drivers for the USB, drivers for the intel chip set, and turned off power saving options for the USB slots. I've searched the web for the harddrive issue and it looks like a lot of people are having them. But my mouse runing slowly worries me because its more than one device. is this a hardware problem? Any possible solutions?

Answer:Ideapad Z580 USB 3.0 Problems

Did you specificaly update the usb 3.0 drivers from the intel website, not just the chipset drivers as they are seperate. My TomTom will not work on my usb 3.0 but works fine on usb 2.0, but i think it`s a tomtom issue. I have a Verbatim 500gb usb 3.0 hdd and it works fine on my usb 3.0 I wonder if you problem is a WD driver problem. John.

Looking to choose between Z580 IdeaPad and T530 laptop. This will be my first laptop. Been a desktop power user most of my lifeThe notebook specifications for the Z580 are: I7 3520M, 2.9 GHz, 15?, Win 7 , 4G Ram, 500 HD.  A couple of quick questions on the Z580 notebook: What would the average battery life, I can expect(from this notebook) given that it has a 6 cell lithium? My web activities will be: Web surfing, Email, Reading social networks occasionally Watching movies. Can I buy/replace the 6 cell battery on the Z580 with a 9 cell lithium after I purchase the laptop? Will a 9 cell fit in this model? In your opinion is the wireless connection steady i.e. minimal dropping of connection? Thanks for your help.TC.

Answer:IdeaPad Z580 Notebook (Q).

If long battery life and wireless connectivity are most important for you, you should get the thinkpad since their batteries have more WHr than an ideapad for the same 6-cell, though the batteries are heavier. Thinkpads usually have better wifi out of the factory, but you can install a much better wifi if you opt for the ideapad which comes with an entry level wifi adapter. One more thing, the battery with the Z-580 only comes with 6-cell while the thinkpad has the option for 9-cell battery.

Hello forums I was hoping I could get some help.

I am overall very happy with the computer except for one thing.

I use Truecrypt system encryption on my computer and not having the ability to utilize the AES-NI instruction set is becoming a bit of a nuisance. I know my CPU (Intel Core i5-3210M) supports AES-NI but it seems as if the microcode to enable support in the BIOS is disabled.
support for AES-NI is verified HERE on Intel's website.

Currently I am running Windows 7 Pro x64 with the BIOS set to legacy mode.
Would running the BIOS in legacy mode disable this feature?

I am a computer technician and am in school for network engineering, so big words are ok.

Any help would be appreciated.

There has to be someone who has either found a fix for this or wants is as a feature.Speaking of which, if this is a missing feature what would be the proper channels to go through to inform Lenovo that it should be implemented in the next BIOS update.

Dear Concern,

I bought my laptop Ideapad z580 (serial: QBxxxxxxx) a year ago for £752. and it had issue of randomly restarting. I installed new windows, tried many solutions but failed. Sent it for repair. Now this is really disappointing from customer point of view that his/her new laptop got repaired within few months. I said ok that is fine.

Within one month of repair, my laptop was not showing anything at all. There was some issue with motherboard (again) and display card. now this is frustrating part. I asked for refund that this is second time in a year it broke and asked for refund. The guy on the phone was really clever and said "sir please send your laptop and if it is a physical/hardware error we will get back to you about refund". No one came back and they sent repaired laptop back.

Now within first 2 weeks i found that i cannot use LAN card which i was able to in the past. I use it for video conferencing and video gaming as well. This constant back and forth caused delay in my web project and i lost £1k. whom should i blame? I called the support and asked for refund and the guy said "sir your warranty has just expired a month ago" is it my fault? this laptop keeps breaking. Again he is clever and said "sir i have told me supervisor about your case and he will call you to ask about replacement unit or possible refund".

Hello, Firstly my apologies for starting a new thread similar to others. I have read a lot of different threads concerning models similar to, but not the same as, my own; the Ideapad Z580, but none of the advice has solved the problem: My battery is failing to charge, either reporting the 'No battery is detected' message, or 'Plugged in not charging' when attempting to charge. When the AC adaptor is unplugged the laptop shuts down within a few seconds So far I have tried: -Shutting down, removing battery, holding down power button for 30 seconds, reinstalling battery, rebooting. -Updating and uninstalling the 'Microsoft ACPI - Compliant Control Method Battery' driver: system won't update because it says it's the latest driver, when I uninstall and restart it has reappeared. -Running a complete gauge reset with the Lenovo Energy Management tools. -Reinstalling Lenovo Energy Management - although I was unable to find the same version so am now using the Z570 software. None of which has worked. Does anyone have anything else I should try? Many thanks, Colin

Answer:Battery Issue with Ideapad Z580

Welcome to the forum! I ran into a similar problem a while back with my Z570.  No matter what I tried the battery would not take a charge or indicate that it was charging while plugged in.  Given the various postings I've seen regarding this problem with the IdeaPads I decided to try different approaches to resolve this buggy behavior.  What finally resolve the problem in my case was using a Linux boot disc to boot up an operating system different than Windows. Once booted, I played with Linux several minutes so the battery would start charging again then I booted the machine back into Windows 7.  Problem solved.  My best guess, there is a bug somewhere between the Windows OS and the hardware of the machine.  That booting the system to a non-Windows environment corrects the problem.

If you bought a Z580 with an 1366 by 768 display that is the maximum it will go, that is called the panels native resolution, and games and software looks best at this resolution, you can set a lower resolution but the image will look very slightly blured , some people get mixed up with the hdmi port maximum resolution which is up to 1920 x 1080 on an external TV or Monitor. John.

Hello,I have a Ideapad Z580 which came pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Basic. When the Windows 8 Pro upgrade was available, I applied the same using the windows upgrade utility. this was over an year ago. However, during this time since I use the laptop for my work, a lot of BI apps have been installed and uninstalled from it resulting in an overall system slow down.I therefore want to restore the laptop to the factory condition. I dont need any of the other pre-installed applications, just the OS restored either Windows 8 or even the Default windows 7 home basic would be fine. The problem is I dont have any of the recovery disks for ither of the versions. Can anyone suggest what can be done here? Thanks,Ashish K

Answer:IdeaPad z580 recovery/restore

Hi Ashish,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I understand your concern, but as you have upgraded the OS (Operating System) without creating the recovery discs for the pre-installed Windows 7. Hence, the OKR (One Key Recovery) button can be used if there are no changes made in the drives in the HDD (Hard Disk Drive). If there is any changes in the Recovery Partition will affect the OKR, the only available option is to contact our Technical Support for Assistance to get guided to exact department of sales for more information regarding the concern.

I recently purchased the Lenovo Ideapad z580 21512KU from Amazon.com for a very hefty discount and have so far been in love with it and its capabilities. Everything is quick and smooth but I have noticed that when I boot up from the computer being in sleep mode and it loads the Windows log in page, it seems to freeze for a short time. I cannot put my password in right away and if I do it does not recognize all of the characters. I was wondering if there was some solution to this problem or if this is just something to live with. Any help would be welcomed. Thanks.

Hey guysYesterday I started noticing that my Z580's screen would go completely black for less than a second then come back. This kept happening all day, ~once or twice every hour. After a while the screen started to sometimes go dark (but not black, like before) while also vibrating and emitting a strange sound, but it switched back to normal after a couple of seconds. After 3 or 4 of these, it has stuck being dark and flickering. The weird sound disappears if I turn the brightness to the lowest setting. Any idea what is causing this?

Really i have regret about purchasing Lenovo. I am old EXPER (Turkish Laptop Brand) user and i was very happy with my old laptop. Now i have z580 and can't play games with pleasure. "i5 3210m cpu" and Nvidia 635m" with "HD 4000 Intel" and "4gb ram"...When i play "Pes 2014" or "Crysis 3" cpu and graphic temperatures are aprox 90°- 95° (Celsius) Yes! I checked with 2 softwares "Everest etc" And i have clean cooler and knowing other things, so don't tell me like clean cooler or don't use on lap etc. It is not because of this. I used extra usb cooler too ,but still same...After 20-30 mins playing , i am having low fps problem etc. Really i have such a regret about Lenovo. No problem while surfing on internet or using softwares or watching movies. And I have latest drivers. Do i must buy a new laptop ? Or any solution ?

Answer:IDEAPAD z580 Heating Problem.

First of all Z580 is not a very good choice for gaming. Regarding your temperatures I think the problem is with bad thermal paste. I can't say for sure, but it has been the problem in many cases.

I have just purchased the Lenovo Z580 two days ago. Its the i3 model with Windows 8 and I have since noticed problems with the internal wireless adaptor. When I'm connected to my router wirelessly my signal is terrible I get five bars initially then two and then one and it remains on one bar thereafter or disconects entirely. My other computers are fine with the range from the router even when in the same room as the Lenovo laptop and the Lenovo is the only one that struggles to maintain a coonection, I have also noticed that the bandwidth recieved by the wireless adapter is also poor in that I am mostly getting 1Mbps. I have tried installing another driver but it didn't help, I have also opened the bottom panal and checked the cables to the antanna and still no improvement. I'm not sure why it has such poor range, the device manager shows its a broadcom card, I've never had a braodcom before I usually have atheros because all of my previous laptops have been Toshiba. I'd appreciate some advice from the community here, are there any known problems with the wireless adaptors for this hardware? Thanks to all who take the time to help.

Hi, I recently purchased a z580 ideapad and I'm quite happy so far but I do have a few questions: 1. I noticed discussion of a Boot Optimizer for Windows 7, but is there a Windows 8 version?2. I've noticed the lack of links for accessories and laptop skins with partner Fathead on the Lenovo shop.  Is the z580 already discontinued and outdated so quickly?3. What the heck is the purpose of "screen freeze" feature enabled by the Windows 8 intelligent 2.0 touchpad software? It's not screen lock, so what's the purpose and also are the other gestures I should be able to enable besides just the "screen freeze"? Thanks in advance!

Hi, everyone. I have a question about my lenovo laptop warranty. There is a small line of dead pixels on my Z580 laptop I purchased about 3 months ago. If I were to guess, there are about 4-5 dead (as in pure black, I used the color tests to check) pixels on the left hand side of the screen. Does this qualify for a replacement? And how would I go about with this replacement?I will post a picture of it as soon as I can. Thanks for your help.

Answer:Dead Pixels on Ideapad Z580

Hi

Welcome To Lenovo Community

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing,

As per Lenovo Dead Pixel Policy your system must meet the following conditions in order for the screen to be considered faulty and under warranty.

3 or more defective / dead / bad pixel - must be visible
System must still be in warranty.

Since your system is meeting the above criteria please all   contact your local Lenovo support to request for service

Do give this a try and let us know

I got a brand new lenovo ideapad z580 about 6 days ago but haven't been able to use it much because of the unbearly slow wireless internet speed! It takes 2 minutes simply to load google and 3 or 4 to load more complicated things like youtube videos or facebook.  It works perfectly fine when I hook it up to the modem physically though. And the wireless internet connection is "excellent" and stable so I'm not sure why it is so slow. Also, I removed the extra programs I didn't want.

Hello there, The screen on my Ideapad Z580 is cracked and unusable. The rest of the laptop works fine (other than the stupid touchpad but a mouse deals with that).  I like this laptop so I don't want to have to buy a new one so could anyone point me in the direction of where I could get a new screen?  Lenovo's support seems to be all about things in warranty and since this was my fault it won' be covered. Thanks

For example this one claims to be compatible with you model. You also need to determine the part number of your screen by referring to the hardware maintenance manual to insure that you have the right part.

I am writing this on behalf of my father, who has recently bought an IdeaPad Z580. He was getting increasingly frustrated at Windows 8, so I suggested for him to downgrade it to Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. After finally overcoming the hurdle of the GPT harddrive, I am now stumped by the fact that now the wireless adaptor wont work. I am able to use the Ethernet cable adaptor, and it is currently plugged into the router and working fine with a wired connection, but let's be honest, what';s the point in having a laptop, if you can't surf on the move? I've tried redownloading drivers and such for the wireless adaptor with no success. Hope someone has a suggestion. Thanks in advance! edit: typo

Hello all, I bought a new Ideapad z580 laptop a few weeks ago: Intel Core i7 3612QM 2.1GHz (3.1GHz with Intel TurboBoost)8GB RAM1Tb HDD2GB Nvidia GT630 GraphicsWindows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.(I'm using the 15.6inch display and a seperate Samsung monitor in a dual screen setup)I've been having some issues with the display. On starting the computer, when the starting Windows logo comes up, several horizontal lines appear across the screen and the windows logo moves around, up and down rather than staying in a fixed place like normal laptops. Upon logging in, the screen looks ok but the bottom half of the screen keeps blacking out for half a second and then returning to normal (it seems to do this more when I first turn on the laptop and then disappears after a bit). Further to this issue, thin green horizontal lines keep appearing on the screen randomly and then disappearing after a split second (I could be just web browsing or I could be playing a game). I have had this issue from day one. I have attempted to fix it by reinstalling the Intel Graphics and NVidia drivers that were stored on the D: drive partition (the ones that came with the machine). I have also tried installing the ones located on the support website but they don't seem to resolve the issue either after restarting the PC. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
