Question: Dell XPS 13 (9350) Screen Resolution

Hi,
I am busy finding my way with a new Dell XPS 13 (9350). Many of the programmes I have display very well, but sometimes they programmes that load are so small that you need a magnifying glass to navigate your way around the screen.
Microsoft Office, for example, has no issues,
but
When I load my Adobe Photoshop Elements, the display is so small that I can hardly see anything.

How do I go about setting up the display so that it is easily readable? The attached screenshots hopefully illustrate the problem I'm having.
Sometimes - even in my browser - one section of the browser will display legibly, but another section of the screen (possibly linked to a java application) will display incredibly small.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I have the same problem. Auto cad tool bars are unreadable. Google Earth has same issues and very large text for state names. The drag icon is very small. Maps program will not show roads when zoomed in. i have heard this is a windows 10 issue, but I don'r believe it. I have two desk tops running windows 10 and all works well.

Just got my XPS 13 9350 with a 3200 x 1800 screen. However the graphics card does not support the highest resolution. Intel(R) Iris(TM) Graphics 540. When set to 3200 x 1800 some of the cursors on the screen are the size of pin head Tried a bunch of things with tech support and they said I just have to wait until there is an updated Intel driver.
Anyone else have this problem or solve it?

I know the screen is working because I can access the BIOS on startup, and I can see the Dell Logo with the rotating dots when it begins the startup, but when it should be showing the Windows 10 login screen it's just black. I've tried typing my password to see if I get any feedback after logging in but nothing happened. Tried running the diagnostic test, nothing. Not sure if this is fixable or I'll have to get it fixed under warranty.

If I'm reading you correctly, you power on the system, you quickly start tapping the F12 key continuously but there wasn't no boot menu to run the diagnostic tool on the system?

Just received the XPS 13 (9350) last week and I've been having some intermittent black screen flickering that normally occurs in short bursts of 4-5 short black outs within a span of two or three seconds. Tech support updated all the drivers and such, but I'm still experiencing the issues. Has anyone had similar issues and possible solutions?
I looked at previous posts and the screen flickering is not where it actually distorts things on screen, it literally just looks like it flashes on and off. Any help is appreciated!

I have that problem and when it starts happening randomly, whenever I click on the Wireless Icon in windows 10, it suddenly happens again. I turned of wireless adapter in settings and to my surprise, the problem stopped!!

Recently, my XPS 13 (9350) with Touch screen will just boot to a black lcd screen. I have a dual boot with Windows 10 and Ubuntu. When I turn the system on, I can get past the dell logo to the operating system select screen. However, once I got past that screen, it just becomes a black screen. The only way to get it to work was to use an external monitor. When I used an external monitor, I did notice that the touch screen still worked despite the laptop lcd showing no image.
Since, it was happening on both operating systems, I suspected a hardware problem. I found a post on this forum that suggested running the lcd diagnostic, which showed no errors. Another poster said swivel/jiggle the laptop screen up and down. When I did that, the lcd screen image came back. I think there must be a loose connection somewhere or maybe a wire in the hinge is starting to fray?
Just how bad is this issue? Will it get worse? I have owned this laptop for almost one year already and warranty is probably still good for 2 weeks or so.

New XPS 9350, been using it for about a month. Except the Thunderbolt connecting to a 4K display issue (sorted out with keeping the lappy in airplane mode and having internet access though USB 3-LAN cable) everything seemed very good. Until yesterday when on an important meeting the screen while working on battery power, the screen went blank. Tried to reset with holding the power button down for about 10 sec. The button LED and the keyboard lights cycled, but the screen remained blank (no DELL logo on boot as well). I connected the power adapter, the screen came on. Few moments later it went black again. Cycled the power, no response from the screen this time. I did a quick browse for solution and found a guy claiming that disabling C-State in the BIOS has fixed similar issue. The problem is that this time no matter how many times I reset though the power button the screen remains blank... Eventually after 20 min the screen appeared and I managed to get the BIOS changed (disabled C-State). The rest of the day the XPS was working fine and I tough the issue is gone. Until this morning, when I opened the lid and the screen was black again. So, back to square 1. After few minutes fighting with the power button and connecting the power adapter, the screen is on again. Obviously this is not sustainable, as I won't know whether on my next meeting the lappy won't let me down again. Seen a few people seem to have almost similar problems. Rather than the whole screen flickering though, it is just the lower third of the screen and its flickering aswell as not updating - i.e. totally useless.
Tried updating the drivers, restoring to before the last system update and no change. Seems like it is not a screen hardware thing since it will briefly stop if I tax the system more.
Any fixes or will I be returning it?

On power-up, the built-in display shows the Dell logo then goes to a black screen.  If I attach an external monitor via a DA200, I can see the Windows 10 login screen and log in. 
The only way to have Windows show in the built-in display is to disable the Intel Iris Graphics 540 entry in Device Manager.  When I do this, I am unable to display to the second monitor/change the brightness of the screen, Windows has no sleep option, and etc...
I've re-installed Windows 10 multiple times and all with the latest drivers from the Dell website.
Can someone from Dell conclusively say whether the black screen is a hardware or software issue?

Since I purchased this laptop under two years ago I've had so many problems with it I've lost count.  It regularly gets bricked after Windows forced updates, most recently a few days ago.  I tried reinstalling Windows and managed it a couple of times but after a while the screen just goes black. The most recent time, the screen went black during re-installation so I now can't even finish the installation (and you can't do this in Safe Mode).  I know Windows is still trying to install as I can hear Cortana trying to set up.  But now I can't see anything in order to finish the installation so I'm stuck, unable to do anything.  I have no external monitor I can use but in any case, if this is a hardware issue, this is not a fix.
I've run diagnostics via F12 a few times and it shows no hardware issues but who knows, it could be.  Since I bought this, Dell have replaced almost all the hardware inc. motherboard and SSD. I'm not sure what else but I noticed today in BIOS in the log dated May 2016 (one of the times it was 'repaired') that it states, "...primary battery is not identifiable...". 
Before the black screen issue there were wifi problems too, none of the available network-related drivers worked.  
I am well out of my warranty now and close to buying a Mac but if anyone knows the cause of this black screen and can help, please let me know!  When this laptop works, it's ama... Read more

It could very well be that you have a "lemon". Just like with cars.
It seems that you have tried every way to fix it and cannot.
I would not put any more money into it.
Chalk it up as a lesson learned.
Your experience is precisely why I tell people with new Dells that do not work right to return it.
Do not try to fix it.

I bought a Dell XPS 13 2016 (9350) FHD, i5, 8GB, 256GB and two weeks ago i received it. It has a great hardware but software is not very optimized and I have a frustrating issue with the display: it flickers everytime i turn the Bluetooth on and stays on. I cannot figure why but I really hope it's a software issue because is very sporadic, at the moment it never happened today, I really don't know what to do.

When I connect my Dell XPS 13 9350 laptop with QHD display to an external monitor through the DA200 USB-C to HDMI connector the external monitors flicker constantly (laptop is fine-no flickering). Sometimes it works for like an hour then starts to flicker or longer so its not consistent. Below are the troubleshooting steps Dell has walked me through (including sending me a new DA200 part) to no avail:
- Dell has sent me a new DA200 USB C to HDMI part
- They have upgraded the Thunderbolt drivers and all other relevant drivers to latest ones (as of June 15 2016)
- I have tried on different monitors (5-6) and tried different HDMI cables.
Dell doesnt seem to know what to do now. THey have refunded my DA200 part purchase and told me to buy a separate HDMI to USB-C cable to test. If that fails it seems they will replace the motherboard. They say it could be an issue with the external monitors not being compatible with QHD, but this is not documented anywhere (they admit) and I havent heard anyone else having this problem on the internet and surprised every single person using this setup has QHD external monitors. This is an unworkable situation for me as I work in PC labs all day connected to external monitors.
Any advice?

My xps 13 9350 laptop screen is just blank but when I hook up an external monitor it shows everything. I went to my display settings and it doesn't even recognize a second display, for some reason it thinks the external monitor is the main screen. When I click "detect" it doesn't detect a second display.
I have booted in safe mode and everything works on the actual laptop but otherwise it only boots with a an external display.
Any help would be appreciated.

I just purchased a new Dell XPS15 9560.  The screen resolution is set to the recommended (highest) level.  However, with many applications (such as Adobe Acrobat reader) the screen resolution is suboptimal, appearing darker and slightly fuzzy.  If I print something from one of these programs, the printed document is also fuzzy.  Likewise, the on screen dialog box from my Canon scanner is also very fuzzy.  This is very annoying, especially since I paid a lot of money  for this high resolution screen.  Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

I have xp on my Dell mini and I have tried everything already... like sliding the bar to the right resolution and it only slides too high or too low, I have tried to do a system restore, I have tried reinstalling the drivers online (I dont have a cd drive) I am at witts end. The manual says it should be set at 1024x576 HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol...

I just reloaded windows 98 back on computer, after formating and partitioning hard drive. now my screen resolution wont go higher than640x480. I have windows xp on seperate partition and the resolution while in xp is fine. when i check the properties of the adapters/drivers, they are different. setup says my display is for a ati radeon mobility but i cant find a adapter/driver that will work in 98.

You have to install your video card drivers. go to www.ati.com and select the "Drivers and Downloads". You should be able to find a copy there. If not, go to www.driverguide.com and sign up. It is free and offers thousands of drivers. You will find it there if nothing else.

We recently purchased a Dell GX270 running Windows XP Professional.

We were hoping to replace our Sony VIAO as a music and ITunes server in our entertainment center.

We have a dennon reciever which brings in HDMI (converted from a DVI output in the video card) and send it to our sony Flat Screen TV

Previously we could run multiple resolutions and screen rates with no difficulty.

When we installed the Radeon 9200 video card, with DVI output, the card was operating great in "plug and play mode" on a regular computer monitor (flat screen)

when we moved the GX270 to the TV, it would only display 720 x 480 screen resolution....

we are not sure how to correct this and have the other resolutions...

Hypothesis 1: change driver from "plug and play" to "default" monitor... we dont see an option for this. we have deleted the previous montors from the configuration and letting it reinstall....

Hypothesis 2: hook up a primary monitor on our video card and the dvi as a secondary monitor.. then make changes using the primary monitor (Computer monitor....) and then switch which monitor is "primary"

Hypothesis 3: there is some known driver issue, etc... and we can get it fixed!

I opened my laptop one day to find my screen is much larger than usual.  I am unable to get into some of my files and some of my email attachments.  I have tried many times to make it smaller by changing the resolution but after it restarts it will change from small to extra large.  I don't know what to do. I have a Dell Inspirion laptop with Windows XP.  Any ideas?

Ok im not sure where to put this question, its not a life or death question but whenever i close the "lid" on my Dell Inspiron E1705 notebook the screen resolution seams to change on me. This is more annoying than anything.

Prior to the latest W10 update today, my 2009 Dell Studio 1555 had a screen resolution of 1366x768. As soon as the update, a build to 1703, I lost the higher resolution and can only display 1024x728 or 800x600.  I went into the device manager and deleted the driver then downloaded the latest driver for the ATI 4500 series and installed it but to no avail. I'm currently restoring my image from a backup earlier this month, but even if that's successful, as soon as Windows 10 installs the latest update, I'll be be looking at ovals instead of circles. Any thoughts on how to proceed other than replacing an otherwise suitable, functioning laptop? Thanks in advance.

My Dell Inspiron 1501 recently encountered a resolution problem. The native resolution used to be 1280x1024, but now i only have a choice of either 1024x768 or 800x600. Can anyone tell me which driver I would have to replace, or where I would have to look to fix this problem?
A friend told me to find my start up disc and just reinstall the drivers through there, that is now my first choice plan of action.

try going into device manager and removing the entry for the video card, then reboot, windows should find and reinstall the drivers for it, do the same for any monitors listed in device manager.

Similar to another post I just saw, I now see ovals instead of circles and the aspect ratio for recommended has everything "squished". Additionally, it will not recognize my external monitor via a VGA connection.
I have tried the recommended resolution and all the others and the video is clearly screwed up after the Windows 10 update. I am now running Windows 10 Pro, Version 1709, OS Build 16299.64 ...

I contacted Microsoft via chat and the tech solved the issue by rolling the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 driver from the latest one (circa July 2017) to an older version (2015) and everything immediately worked. I have a situation very much similar to the one described in this post below.

My machine is Dell E6400 in its lowest configuration and default video card, et cetera.

I got a Dell 2312HM monitor that's capable of 1080 and the highest I see available is 1600 x something with 1920x1080 not even shown. 1600x BTW looks awful. It runs by default the "recommended" 1366x768.

I deactivated the notebook screen, shut down the lid making the 2312HM the only screen to no avail.
I downloaded the driver for the 2312HM also to no avail. What else can I try?

I am running this via VGA port, could this be the problem, should I get the Display Port cable? There is no HDMI in the laptop computer, just DVI/VGA and DP. I was under the impression that VGA can display 1080.
I was also under the impression the stock video card can run 1080p.

I have a Dell Vostro 1000 running Windows XP. If I leave my laptop running and shut the laptop lid and leave it for a while, when I open it back up, the screen resolution has changed. Everything is very large and you can't see the whole screen at one time. But when I go to the display properties screen and check the screen resolution settings, the actual bar setting has not moved to a new setting. I have to move it to a new setting, let it go there then move it back to the original postion and reset it to get it back to my original resolution setting. The original setting is 1280 X 768. The only way I have been able to kind of work around this was to go to display properties, chose screen saver, then power scheme, then the advanced button, then in the box where you instuct it on what to do when you close the lid, tell it to go to standby. It then does not change the resolution when i close the lid but it also interupts the wireless connection so no emails are loaded while the lid is closed and it is in standby mode. I then have to wait evertime I open the lid for it to crank up my wireless connection and then wait for it to load any new emails that have come in since I closed the lid. Any ideas anyone.

After reformatting a DEll Inspirion 1100 laptop (with a generic Dell Windows XP CD, not the one that came with) my screen resolution is stuck on the lowest possible res. Can't change it, it won't let me.

In device manager i have no heading for display adaptors now...a bunch of devices in OTHER DEVICES section with yellow ?s including "VGA compatible Video Controller"

what should I do?

First, of all, I strongly suggest you download and install Service Pack 3 if you have not already done so (you may have to install Service Pack 2 as a prerequisite).

The Dell drivers for your machine are as follows:

1. Chipset - once you install this, make sure you reboot your machine.

2. Then install the Video driver.

Be advised: this thread may be moved to the Drivers forum. Let us know how it goes.

I have recently loaded Windows 7 (Home Premium) on to a Dell Dimension 2400 (32 bit). Installation went smoothly but screen resolution is stuck at 480 x 640 which makes the computer practically unworkable. I understand (but am nor sure) that Dell does not support Windows 7 on this machine and the only solution is a new video card. I badly need some expert guidance.

The 2400 isnt really a good candidate for win 7. Its max memory is 2x512=1024 and the video is integrated using some of the system memory.

The minimum requirements for win 7 32 bit is 1 gig and recommended 2 gigs.

I have an Inspiron 5447 since October 2014. I had no problems with my laptop since then. Yesterday, I decided to change my HDD with a Samsung Evo 850 GB SSD. The installation went great and everything works. I ran the diagnostic tests afterwards and no problems were detected. Though, the Dell Logo splash screen of the BIOS changed. The logo is bigger and with lower resolution than the previous one. How can I change back to the old, smaller and with better resolution logo? I know it is really not a problem, but it bothers me, so I want to fix it!!!!

Question: dell xps 9350 ssd

Hello,

I'm about to pull the trigger on a dell xps 13. Can anyone tell me if I order the 8gb model with the i5 6200u FHD screen which comes with a 256gb SSD, can someone tell me what model of SSD this is? Is it a Samsung SM951 (uk model)? I understand it is PCIE based, but does the controller run in AHCI or NVME? I am thinking of putting a 950 pro in there (I understand these drives are nearly identical in terms of performance but I'd like to be able to use the Samsung magician software and turn on rapid mode and overprovisioning. has anyone used the samsung magician software with a 950 pro drive? is there any difference in real world performance between an ahci drive and a nvme drive under normal usage?

Question: Dell XPS 13 9350

I have just bought this Dell XPS 13 9350 within the past few months. One day the touchscreen started to constantly click on the screen, sometimes without stopping. The only way I am able to get this "ghost clicking" to stop is either restarting the laptop (hoping the problem doesn't persist)or, sometimes I get lucky by just pressing the touch screen on random spots and it seems to stop the clicking. Is this a hardware problem or can I somehow fix this problem other than messing with the hardware?

Hi,
i have some issues with my Dell XPS 13 (9350) and Dell TB16. I connected a 4K Monitor on the MiniDP Port and another 1080P Monitor on the HDMI Connector. I get constant dropout of my 4K Monitor, like every 1-2h min. the screen goes black and after a few moment the video comes back. Updating everything to latest BIOS, TB Firmware, Video Drivers does not working. I tried to disable TB security in BIOS but this doesnt help either.I tested my TB16 with another device, this time it is my company Lenovo P50. I recently got a new Dell XPS 13. I like it very much but I have one single issue with it.
It gets hot when plugged in. I installed latest drivers and bios firmware but it's still annoying.
The main problem is that I searched for fan problems over net, I saw people are complaining about fan being too noisy on XPS 13 but I hear absolutely nothing from laptop. and now I'm wondering if it has a fan and it's working.
How do I know that the fan is working?

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on Dell XPS 9350. To be able to do that, I needed to install the usb 3.0 drivers (the laptop doesn't have any usb 2.0 ports and the usb 3.0 can't be change to usb 2.0 from the bios) into the Windows 7 installation on my usb stick.

The problem is that Windows can't identify the ssd. So I figured it was the motherboard chipset drivers that I needed to install, so that it could identify the nvme controller itself. The problem is that when I extract the driver, there are no .inf or .cab drivers. There are a lot of files without any extensions and basically the driver seems to be installable only on a functional installed operating system.

Any ideas how I could get a readable driver that I could browse to during the Windows 7 installer?

I don't see anything on the Dell downloads for this model for Win 7. They have Win 10 and Win 8.1 drivers. Even if you get Win 7 installed I doubt that all the devices on the laptop are going to work.

I've seen other try to install Win 7 on a new system that is not designed for Win 7 and of the ones I've seen none have been successful and give up and keep their original OS.

Best option, if you can return the Dell, is to buy one that has Win 7 or that you can backward install Win 7 on it (and all devices work).

Does anyone know what the differences between 9350-4846 AND 9350-5132 are?
Both seem to be an entry level i5 6200U, non-touch scr laptop.
Pricing is somewhat the same, but I want to go for the better bargain out of the two.

I have an Inspiron 5547, which was bought on October 2014. I had no problems with my laptop until now. I won a Samsung EVO 850 GB SSD, in a lottery, and decided to change my disk with the SSD. The installation went fine and everything works, except that I do not have the same Dell Logo on the BIOS splash screen as the old one. The new one is much bigger and of lower resolution, like it is in safe mode. How can I change the logo back to the old one, which was smaller in dimension and with better resolution?

Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased a Manufacturer Refurbished Dell XPS 13 9350 (Skylake), and all has not been well.
The laptop constantly BSODs whenever I wake it from sleep. The thing is that it works without a hitch for
hours on end on a cold boot, but as soon as I wake it from sleep or hibernation, I receive a BSOD on wake 80~90% of the time, sometimes instantly and sometimes after 3-4 minutes of use.

I've already done a fresh install of Windows 10, ran memtest86 5 times with no errors returning and also manually
uninstalled/reinstalled all the latest drivers for my laptop and even ran Driver Sweeper in safe mode but the problem
persists. There were even more errors before, but after doing all my driver updates, WhoCrashed points me to ntkrnlmp.exe as the most frequent cause of BSODs.

I've attached the dump files to the thread, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind of an info post & a question.
My new Dell XPS 13 9350 touchscreen started to intermittently fail & within a day or 2 it completely gave up. I also noticed that there was no touchscreen device in Device Manager (under HID section) nor any mystery USB devices there (an Internet search reckoned it could be a power problem). I did notice though that under USB Devices section there was a mystery device that said "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).
Called Dell Support who informed me that since it was purchased from a UK retailer I wasn't eligible for Dell support! So I called PC World...
They took me through a step which I'd already tried (uninstall & reinstall mystery USB devcie) but this time it worked - touchscreen appeared in HID section & mystery USB device vanished. Hung up the phone, moved laptop then the touchscreen failed again. This time, on loading Device Manager, it was unusable. Device Manager kept refreshing over & over again, but I did have time to see that again touchscreen had vanished from HID & the mystery USB (with same message) appeared in USB Devices. This time though the USB device would vanish & then the screen refresh.  
A bit more Google searching revealed that a touchscreen is effectively a mini USB device & I wondered if the issue I was having was due to an intermittent connection. It would explain the constant refreshing of Device Manager since it was like something being conne... Read more

Hello all, I just purchased a 9350, win 10 Pro , 4GB ram, 128 SSD. I noticed that the Battery Icon would stop charging at 80%. Shows Connected , not charging at the 80% mark. I have read on the Forums about this being an issue on this 9350! SEEMS TO ME THAT THE BATTERY SHOULD ALWAYS CHARGE UP TO 100%!
So I innstalled the latest 9350 Bios and Power management drivers updates from the Dell seb site.
I thought that would correct the issue but it didnt!
Dell XPS 13 9350 battery cstill stops charging at 80%!!!
I performed the Dell ePSA F12 Diagnostic tests and the battery results are as follows.
Charge cycles 13
Battery Health 93%
Voltage 8420 millivolts, current 2717 ma. 
I have also read that after some 9350 owners replaced the battery they were still haveing the issue of the battery not charging to 100%.
Anyone have the same experiences?

I'm assuming you installed the latest version of Dell Command | Power Manager (System Utilities) from your Dell Product Support page.....
The battery stop charging at 80% because of the battery settings. Some of the battery settings prevent 100% charge to help extend battery life. Please right click the battery icon, select Dell Command | Power manager, and then Change Settings:

I think I did the worst choice ever... I bought this Dell XPS 13 on last February which was replaced on summer, because I had problem with the grafic card probably ( couldn't connect it to an external display). 
This is an i7 proccesor 6560U, 16G ram 512 ssd... and infinity touch display. running win10 pro
the main reason that I bought it was that the battery lasts up to 18 hours like it says to the dell's site.
I am not new to this of cource I know that 18 hours are unreachable but I was hoping at least to 9-11.
on the contrary the battery does not last more than 4-4.30 hours. with normal use... email serfing on the net , youtbe....
I have the latest BIOS of course ... 
I had even left the laptop on the Bios screen open to check how long it will last with no apps running in the background ... same result ... 5 hours at most .. 
the battery was replaced 2 month ago with no improvment ... same with the new battery as well. 
I have turned the touch screen off, bluetooth as well... everything that I could in order to increaase the battery but with no result. 
I also run the battery test according to the dell's technicians advise, with the result saying that the battery is in good condition.
According to dell all theese are normal... but for me is unexeptable. My macbook pro is 5 years old and the battery lasts 4 hours !!!!
this is my expirience from the top model of dell!! 
any advise before I through it away?

I just bought a Dell XPS 13 9350 QHD. I am trying to disable Adaptive brightness with this patch i downloaded from dell website APP_QHDFW_DBC_W81X64_W10X64_A00_Setup-PWD5K_ZPE
However after I unzip and run the exe file there is no reaction.

Can someone please assist.

Is that a driver update you are downloading? That will not change any settings for your GPU.
Follow the steps below to turn off adaptive brightness:
1) Go to your power settings by left-clicking the battery symbol at the bottom right of your desktop
2) click power and sleep settings
3) click additional power settings then click "change plan settings" next to the power profile you are using
4) then, click "change advanced power settings"
5) Scroll down to Display (click the plus icon) --> Enable adaptive brightness --> then turn it off using the pull down menus.

I've got an XPS 13 9350 with a clean install of Windows 10 on it on Bios 1.2.3.  The touchpad has a couple of issues:
1) Bouncy when scrolling.  In a web browser, when using two fingers to scroll down, upon releasing the screen jumps back up a bit - occasionally jumps to the top of the page again.  This is best described is this post, but with no resolution: 
2) Tap to click sometimes stops working.  When this happens if I wiggle a finger on the pad a bit and try again, it starts working again.
3) Click drag releases by itself.  More often than not, if I click and hold the button on the touchpad to move a file, it releases before the button is released.  Its almost impossible to move emails between folders in outlook due to this behaviour.
Are these common issues?  Could I have faulty hardware?  I've run the Dell update utility, but apparently my system is up to date.Any pointers appreciated!

Hi, I had scrolling issues specifically in Chrome when the XPS13 9350 came out In November. The Windows 10 TH2 update fixed that however. I would assume you have already updated Windows?

Literally anything I do the max is .78 GHz and I can barely watch a YouTube video because I am barely even using the processor. The laptop is so slow because of it. I have tried basically everything, disabling speed step in bios, adjusting power options, updating bios, updating drivers, etc.. Please help me.

They seem to stay at the lower speed more than you might think.  While at this speed do you see the CPU utilization maintaining levels?
You state your tried different Power Schemes, have you tried the High Performance for testing?  If the speed does not increase when you select it you might want to try a reboot.

Was really looking forward to this laptop, but received it late last week and the touchpad appears to be defective on arrival.  Lags and freezes intermittently and two finger scroll barely ever works.  Already called in to tech support and they advised the same given we tried for an hour to resolve.
Seems I received a lemon given that it has a great build and monitor, but researching this issue seems there are many threads and youtube posts with the same exact issues so this seems unfortunately common.  Will be returning it tomorrow (for a full refund) as I can't wait another few weeks for this machine and as I travel a lot I don't intend to use a mouse very often.  Even though I'm more than willing to pay for a decent notebook, it is frustrating it is so difficult to come by.

HeyI'm seriously considering buying the XPS 13 QHD, but i'm a bit interested in what kind of battery life people are getting. If the battery life is much better with the FHD I might consider sacrificing touch and QHD for better battery life. Would be nice if it could last through a 8 hour working day.

-Description of problem-I recently purchased a Dell XPS 9350 (Windows 10) laptop. Often the touchpad completely ceases to function. This happens randomly 10-60 minutes after using the machine normally. Sometimes disabling the touchpad in Device Manager and re-enabling it will fix the issue temporarily. Sometimes this is not sufficient, but a restart of the machine will fix the issue temporarily. Sometimes this is not sufficient, and 5 or 6 restarts are required to get the touchpad to function again.-Attempted resolutions-* Ensuring that all device drivers are up to date and that the latest updates from Windows Update are installed* Installing the generic Synaptics touchpad drivers instead of the Microsoft Precision ones (as suggest in various other forums describing issues with the XPS touchpad). The synaptics driver functions, but the same issue remains.* Resetting Windows - clean reset choosing to remove all programs but keep personal files.* Running the Windows Hardware Troubleshooter - this detects that there is an issue reinstalls the touchpad drivers. Sometimes this also temporarily fixes the issue (after restarting), but sometimes the troubleshooter says that it cannot fix the problem.-Further details-There are various items that show up in device manager. Hi all,
A pretty nasty situation, given that this is supposedly a "premium" laptop.
I have here a one day old XPS 13 (9350) MS signature edition from Amazon, bought new. Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB storage, current BIOS (1.4.4) and drivers (updated right away), windows 10. Everything looked fine until I disabled power-saving features of the graphics (panel self-refresh and power saving mode for games) and then tried to reboot while on battery: it gets stuck right on the Dell logo. Sometimes the rotating Windows thingy appears, but then freezes immediately.
Holding the power button and then cold-starting works. Rebooting does not. Loading BIOS defaults helped reboot once, after which I decided to re-enable the power-saving stuff (thinking that it is what caused it). The reboot after that did not take place either --  got stuck again. I don't know if there's any relationship between these power saving features and what's happening (could be a coincidence).
The problem does not seem to occur while on AC power. 
Any thoughts? As I said before, this is an Amazon purchase, so I can return/exchange it within 30 days. Thanks.

my Dell XPS 9350 does not boot at all. It is a brand new laptop that crashed while Windows 10 Updates were applied so I had to restart it. On restart, all that I got was a black display. Not even the Dell logo shows up so I cannot go into the bios settings or change the boot mode,...
The display seems to work as I run the display test and the colors show up but once the test is done, all that I get is the black screen. 
Dell Support now offered me to send a technical guy to repair the laptop but the problem is that they do not yet have the new XPS 13 in their support list and needed 3 days to update their database. Now it turns out that they do not have some components and will not come until they have everything. Dell is not able to tell me how long this will take (very strange from my point of view). 
Now my problem is that I would urgently need this laptop so that  I would like to avoid the option to simply send it back and order a new one. 
So if there is someone that has a clue if this can be solved by some trick without having to change a hardware I would be glad. 
As mentioned already, I did the system tests that I found in the forums but the only thing that worked was the display test. 
It is the 9350 using an Intel Core i7 and the 512 GB SSD using the PCI slot.

My laptop Dell XPS 9350: BIOS 1.4.18 updated august 20.
From the very next day the dell system detect is showing a BIOS update is required,
But when I download it shows its the latest download is:  older BIOS version 1.0.0  released in 2015.
I did not install and contact dell support right away to verify, end up listening to that I do not have warranty anymore. so they cant support.
My query is whether I should be downgrading my BIOS?
I am not sure this is the right forum to ask, I apologize.

Dell has had several issues with BIOS updates recently.  For several models, recent BIOS updates caused connection stability issues with USB devices connected via the TB16 dock.  Possibly as a result of that, Dell pulled the updates and replaced them with older ones, but that worked rather oddly on the site. For example, the newer XPS 13 9360 recently got a 2.1.0 BIOS and the next release posted was 1.0.7, and for a while both were posted, and now 2.1.0 is back as the only option.  I would hold off on BIOS updates for a while until you see an update that's actually newer than what you have, which will also hopefully contain a fix for these USB issues.

I recently bought this laptop, but yesterday it refused to boot.
The light on the charger is on, however when plugged into the laptop the light on the laptop does not come on.
I already opened the panel and unplugged the battery cable and plugged it back in but to no avail.
Is it now dead? I am still under warranty, but i need my laptop now.

There's a short circuit somewhere in the system - it will need warranty repair.  If it's less than 21 days from shipment from Dell, you can also return the system for replacement.

I have a DELL XPS 13 9350 2016. I purchased it about 7 months ago.
I am getting this issue just today. It takes forever for the laptop too boot after I type my password in. Also, it takes forever to start the starting programs. Its so slow that I can't even post about it using the laptop.
Does anyone know what to do about this?
Also, how long does it usually take to get technical help?

Are there any bluescreens / system crashes? Is there any damage on the system?
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional. Also, run an extended / thorough tests on the HDD and memory to check for any possible errors. 
If the system is under warranty, we can help book a service call if the hardware has an issue and needs to be replaced.

Hello again,

Sorry for the double post, but a new situation has come up. This morning I closed the lid on my laptop without powering it down. My laptop has the "close the lid" action set to "do nothing", so the computer definitely did not sleep/hibernate. When I returned in the afternoon, I was greeted with the Dell splash screen, indicative that the computer's crashed again. I ran Who Crashed once more, and this time the BSOD was caused by a "CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION" with ntkrnlmp.exe once again.

I've attached another zip folder with the dump files, but I am not sure how to delete the dump files, so the ones from this morning are on there as well.

I have recently purchased a new DELL XPS 13 9350 and a Dell Docking Station D3100, this combinations is for enterprise use and i would like to boot latpop over PXE in order to deploy our OS .
I tried to do this and enable all the Bios functions for this but the docking station doesnt recognized when laptop boot up .
Also i have updated to latest BIOS,any ideas or advises on these issue will be appreciated .

My Dell XPS 13 was working fine for about 9 months. Recently, I have to go through a lot of trouble just to get it charging. When I plug in the adapter, the light on the end of the plug turns on, but to get the charge to work, I have to push the cord extremely hard into the laptop. Even when I do this, the laptop usually only stays charging for about 5 seconds. After about 20 tries, I got it to stay charging. The warranty is still (thankfully) active, so worst case, I can just get it replaced. But before that, what can I do to try to fix it?

So i love this laptop, the ram and CPU are starting to become a issue for me. Rather then buy a new one i was wondering if i ordered a i7 motherboard of the same model would i be able to install it without issue?

I have had a XPS 13 9350 and love it except one thing. When i plug in headphones to the laptop I get really bad static on the audio that only goes away when I mute, this condition does not happen with the built in speakers. I have tried to update drivers and all of that and every time i update to the new realtek drivers or any realtek drivers for that matter my laptop will freeze when booting into windows 10. It freezes as soon as I try to use the notification center or start menu and I have to restart and then role back the audio driver to the stock high definition windows 10 driver to get things to work. For the short time I get teh realtek driver to work the audio on both the headphones and speakers is fine but the computer locks up and I am forced to role back the driver to the High definition windows 10 driver which causes the headphone static to come back.
I have had this problem from the beginning but have forgot about it since I really don't use headphones with it much but I forsee me using them more. I have even considered buynig a AudioQuest Dragonfly Dac in order to bypass the stock headphone jack to keep this from happening.

Hello. Did the laptop come with Win10 pre-installed at the factory? If so it would have had a working Realtek audio driver in it when you took it out of the box. You can return it to that state by performing a system recovery -- return to the original factory configuration.
If you installed Win10, you might consider returning to the operating system in which the audio worked properly. There are a lot of audio problems with Win10.

Hi,
I have noticed that whenever the (non-touch) screen on my Dell XPS 13 9350 refreshes (e.g. with the mouse pointer moving, webpage scrolling, etc.) I hear a buzzing sound from the bottom left of the display.
Uninstalling the Intel display driver and using the Microsoft Windows generic display driver stops this buzzing from occurring, but that also stops the screen brightness hotkeys from working so it's not really a solution.
Does anyone know how to resolve?

Hi,
I have a new Dell XPS 13 9350 (only a few months old)... I noticed that the Microphone is not working in any applications I try.  I have gone through the Dell diagnostic as well as the Windows 10 diagnostics but nothing seems to fix the issue.
I am running the latest drivers (6.0.1.7737) from the Dell support web site.  
I have tried to remove the Realtek drivers and go with the native Windows 10 HD Audio Drivers.   This did appear to fix the issue, but then I updated the BIOS to 1.3.3 and now it doesn't work again.  Not sure if the BIOS update broke it or it was just a coincidence and it would have failed after a reboot anyway.  I may attempt to role back the bios and see what happens.
I don't believe it is a hardware issue as I have seen the mic working fine with the Windows 10 drivers.
Has anyone else seen this problem or have a solution?
The problem is I don't know if the MIc was working from the beginning.  The day I got the laptop I update the drivers from the website right away.  I work in IT and always like to have the latest drivers.

When I  click on Diagnostics and I get "testing completed . One or more errors but doesn't say what the issue is. I've run this about 5 times with same results.  
I am using the proper power cord, I run it without being plugged in a lot.  
Now the battery will not hold a charge and only works if it's plugged in and at 1%
I do not want to open it up while it's under warranty

If the system is still under warranty, call Dell for repair.
They'll first replace the AC adapter with a new OEM Dell unit.  If that doesn't solve the problem,
They'll replace the DC power jack:

And if that doesn't solve the problem, it's the mainboard that needs to be replaced.

Hi,
I have noticed that whenever the (non-touch) screen on my Dell XPS 13 9350 refreshes (e.g. with the mouse pointer moving, webpage scrolling, etc.) I hear a buzzing sound from the bottom left of the display.
Uninstalling the Intel display driver and using the Microsoft Windows generic display driver stops this buzzing from occurring, but that also stops the screen brightness hotkeys from working so it's not really a solution.
Does anyone know how to resolve?

Hello, I am having trouble recently with my dell xps 13 9350. The computer starts up from OFF fine, however if I try to wake up the laptop after closing the lid or pressing the power button quickly (which in both cases causes the laptop to sleep) all i get is a blue screen with a loading wheel. The computer does not wake up and must be restarted by holding the power button for over 4 seconds. 
I have had this computer for two months and this is the first issue I've had with it. Hoping someone can help me resolve this issue. Thanks!

I purchased a new dell XPS 13 9350 from BestBuy August 8, 2016 and have several sound problems.  First all sound stopped working about a month after purchasing the laptop but using the Dell.com support site I discovered that 3 Intel drivers had been disabled. Once I reinstalled the drivers the audio began working again but another issue has continued. A periodic static noise.  
The laptop periodically emits a static noise anytime you press a key. When the noise starts it happens anytime you press a key regardless of what program is running and thus far there is no apparent trigger that causes it to start emitting the static noise. Twice I've run the diagnostic "Full Test" on the dell.com support site but the test does not find any problems. Considering the price of this laptop I am surprised and even more shocked to see that other people are also having issues with static sounds. 
I purchased an HP laptop last year for half the price of this laptop and have not had a single issues with that computer.

After a lackluster week with TB15, I have a problem with my Dell 9350 (early 2016).
I noticed that the battery drained faster than it's supposed to be.

When the laptop is charging and being used, its temperature goes up higher than when not charging around 15 Celsius. I have tried monitoring the temperature during charging while playing games, the laptop is overheating and it went up to 94 Celsius then I tried to plug a laptop power adapter out, it went down to around 83 Celsius. It would always be like this. Another problem is the power adapter gets very hot during charging even in sleeping mode or playing games. I can't touch it!. Moreover, my screen is flicker sometimes while I'm playing games and displays that "display driver stop responding and has recovered"
My drivers are up to date. BIOS: 1.3.3

If you still encounter the video driver crashes, then restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. If there are no errors, then restart the system and within windows - run a stress test on the system - http://dell.to/21y9GPi
Restart the system and press f2 to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS.
Test the system with another adapter if possible. For the screen flickering issue, after updates and tests, if the issue still persists, then connect an external monitor and check for flickering on the LCD and the external monitor - this will help isolate if the source of the issue.

I've recently been looking into buying an eGPU Enclosure such as the AKiTiO Node or the Razer Core. I've updated all the firmware and now I am running Thunderbolt Software Version 16.1.47.275. The Node and Core both specify that the computer needs to both have Thunderbolt 3 (which I have) and be compatible with external graphics. What does this mean? I have Thunderbolt 3, so wouldn't it be theoretically possible to run external graphics provided the firmware was up to date?
So in summary, my main question is this: Will/can the Dell XPS 13 9350 be able to use eGPU enclosures over Thunderbolt 3 now (or in the future if there is firmware updates being planned)?

So, my ultimate goal is to connect a Firewire 800 device (medical instrument) via thunderbolt. I got my hands on two Apple thunderbolt adapters, first a TB 3 to TB 2, and then a TB 2 to Firewire 800.

When I connect the TB 3 to TB 2, Windows says "Try improving the USB connection" and it links me to this page. Opening the thunderbolt software shows no connected devices. I have the latest drivers that I am aware of, software package version 16.1.47.275. I have BIOS version 1.4.10. I have disabled the thunderbolt security in BIOS and enabled the boot related thunderbolt options.

What else can I do? Thankful for help!

Hi everyone, I've bought a new monitor for my laptop dell xps 13. Now when I'm hearing sound from my monitor the sound stops working for 2 seconds and then it just goes normal. this happens often. I've already installed the latest drivers for my realtek high defenition. I also uninstalled the drivers and installed them back still nothing. Same thing for my Graphics Card. Hey,
I got my new XPS 13 this week (moving from macbook pro) and it seems I can't work out the monitor resolution.
I'm running windows 10 on XPS 13 (i7 2.9, 16 gig ram, Intel HD Graphics 620To it I connected DA200 and via HDMI cable  u2913wm.I can't manage to get higher resolution than 1920x1080!Never had this issue on my macbook (same HDMI) and the graphic card is displaying on the laptop itself resolution of 3200 x 1800 so, surly, its strong enough.
Updated the graphic card drivers, monitor drivers, reinstalled DDM and googled everything i could think of, eventually, ended up here.
I made sure to buy only DELL's solutions and I was promised I won't have an issue but, well, this is why you never listen to sales people.

I've had a recent problem with my dell xps 13 (9350) since I've updated to the anniversary version of windows 10
So once I start the laptop, sound does not work even though I still here the buzz of the earbuds when I connect them to the laptop. Videos on the web don't work either. I've tried going on youtube and cnet browsing through videos and they don't work. Interestingly I can still browse other sites like normal If I'm just reading or so. 
If I restart the computer everything is back to normal. However, the problem occurs if I fully shutdown the laptop and then start it up again. 
I've been constantly restarting the laptop every time I start it up, it's getting a tad bit annoying. 
I have the latest drivers for the laptop and I do not want to try to reset it without going through any other possible solutions.

I would suggest you to update BIOS, uninstall and reinstall the video card driver and audio from Dell website as these drivers are tested on the Dell system. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the video card.

Open the  search box, Start typing devmgmt.msc and then press enter.
Select the Display adapters listed and right click on it.
Now select properties.
In the properties window, under Driver tab, click on Uninstall button.
Check “Delete the driver software for this device.”
Do the same for Audio also which you will find under 'Sound, video and game controllers'
You want to delete the driver click OK.

After the uninstall finishes restart the system. Then reinstall the Intel video card driver first and then Nvidia/AMD card driver (If system is configured with discrete video card) on the system for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the BIOS from BIOS section, video card drivers from Video section onto the system and install it.

Hi,
I've got a Dell XPS 9350 and the last 2-3 months, I had a bump that gently created itself on the keyboard, I guess it is the battery that has a problem. This also affected the screen, as the keyboard was not flat anymore, I've got spots with dead pixels.
My laptop is sadly out of warranty and my only option when I go to the support is to call the support, but as I bought the computer in Switzerland, it is in German, which I don't speak fluently enough to be able to handle such a discussion.
First of all, did other people had similar problems? What did you do? And do you have any other options I could use to fix this?

In the future, if hardware were to fail, we would use our diagnostics to verify fail, then replace according to the warranty. Hi there,
I have a XPS 13 9350 and a strange thing started to happen this week. The keyboard is getting deformed (!!!) like something under it is getting bigger... It's like my notebook is ***!
My first thought is that the internal battery swelling or something... I bought the notebook in the US but I live in brazil and I found that I can't get my warranty over here (despite being told through a support chat that if I bought the Prosupport I would get 8x5 NBD in Brazil).
Fact is, it has less than a year of use, it was hugely expensive and I simply don't know what to do... does anyone know how to get in touch with their Brazilian support line? Every time I try to get support from the site it redirects me to US support. I would to at least get a quote on fixing it...

Hello everybody,
I have an external USB 3.1 enclosure (Vantec Nexstar USB 3.1, model # NST-270A31-BK) that I am connecting to the USB-C (Thunderbird 3) port of my XPS 13 9350 laptop.  The drive does not start even after using two different USB 3.1 cables.  I have installed all the USB and Thunderbird drivers from Dell's website and activated the port in BIOS, but still have no luck getting the drive to run.
Thing is, when I plug the drive into one of the standard USB ports using a USB 3.0 cable, the drive boots up and is recognised by the laptop with no problem.  So if my troubleshooting was done correctly, the USB enclosure and cabling is not faulty, so the problem must lie with the USB-C port.  Has anybody successfully used the USB-C port to access external storage with any luck?

I am using XPS 13 9350. I have a Kingston Duo Flash Drive which has both USB C and USB 3.0 connectors. When I first bought the notebook, it was able to detect the flash drive, however transfer was very slow. After a series of driver updates, it can no longer detect the drive. However, the drive works when I use the USB 3.0 connector to plug it in the USB 3.0 drive. So I suspect it is the USB C port of my computer which is not working.
I have restored the computer to factory image and redownloaded the drivers, no luck getting it to work. Right now I am intending to send the laptop to Dell to check out.
Do you have any luck making the USB C port work?

Is this common? Have had the laptop for only 7-8 months. It started getting real flakey this past week. Charging and then stopped every so often. Yesterday it just flat out failed. I went into the bios to verify. Battery was excellent but wall adapter said unknown.

Also noticed when plugging in the adapter by itself. The little white light was not coming on. Contacted Dell. Had to do the protocol troubleshooting and they determined it was a faulty adapter over the phone. They are sending a new replacement. I also have a question.

Is it safe to leave the charger plugged in all the time? Or only plug it in when I go to charge the laptop? Btw. Getting back to the adapter. I tried different outlets and surge protectors. Same results. Not working.

But for the heck of it. I tried this morning and the adapter is working again. Crazy. Is it safe to use until Dell sends me the new one?

I recently bought a Dell XPS 13 9350 because i wanted a small form laptop to use on my lap while sitting in my couch. It sits perfect however gets too warm at the bottom so on my legs. I'm thinking about returning it. Really disappointed. I really wish Dell had placed airholes on the side or also used carbon fiber at the bottom to keep it cool.
Are there any good chill mats for this device too hold it stable on my lap that aren't too bulky. I found the vid below about the Targus 15" chill mat but won't my 13" slide off while typing? Any better solutions? They mats all seem to give an angle but i don't need an angle. The angle i have it on my lap right now is just fine. I just need a cool surface that holds it in place when typing.

I have just installed a clean UEFI Windows 10 on my almost brand-new XPS 13 the touchscreen does not seem to work at all.
I have gone to the support website to auto-detect and download drivers. Went through Dell's diagnostic tool for touch screen, which said it could not detect any touchscreen device. There are no unknown/driverless devices in my Device Manager.
After scouring through many forum posts, I am baffled. Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated!

This model is available both with and without touchscreen - check the specifications at support.dell.com to verify your unit does have the touch option.

Has been working with Dell support for the past one month to resolve intermittent SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED - bcmpciedhd63.sys blue screen of death (BSOD)  issue.  So far what we have done:
- re-install Windows 10 twice (tried both; flash from BIOS and USB drive)- perform CPU, Stress CPU, Graphic, Stress Graphic, Memory, Stress Memory, Motherboard diagnostics test- Replace motherboard twice- Replace wireless card once

Anyone has encounter this issue before and how does you manage to resolve it? I have also tried to retrieve the BSOD minidump and send to the support team (hope it will be useful to them):

I bought an USB-C to HDMI adapter cable to connect my Dell XPS 9350 to an external monitor (Dell U2414H).
I connect my laptop with adapter via USB-C, the HDMI port of adapter with HDMI cable and the HDMI cable with the external monitor. After that, the external monitor detected the laptop but it displays error message like that "There are no signal from your computer. Please press any key to wake up it".
My laptop still running, I also changed mode to duplicate or external screen and update all drivers but nothing change.
I checked the Intel Graphic Setting, it also detected the external monitor.
Please see attached images for more information and help me to fix it.

I updated all drivers, bios, ...
I also tried the "siwtching off wireless" suggestion already

Problem is, the monitor goes blank several times each day.

Any suggestions ? Any fixes ?

1. I have update to latest BIOS 1.4.18
2. I make sure using the Dell Baterry comes within the same box when I bought, it's written 45W
What should I do or diagnose ?
It's a new laptop anyway.

With a system this new, if it was purchased from Dell, call and arrange a DOA exchange.  If it was purchased from a retailer, most allow 7-14 days - return it for replacement.  There is little sense troubleshooting and repairing a brand new system that's defective.

I keep getting offered the update to Windows 10 Creators Edition, but each time I accept the update it fails. On shutting down, the update runs to 88% complete and then the computer shuts down. On rebooting I get a message saying, 'We couldn't install all the updates.' In fact, nothing has been installed and the system is unchanged. I have tried updating drivers and I think everything is up to date.

I am completely at a loss. I just purchased a used XPS 13 9350 and am trying to do a fresh install of Windows 10 in UEFI mode. The BIOS is causing me all sorts of problems and frustrations.  I've tried to create a bootable USB,using Rufus, and cannot get the laptop to boot off of it.  First, I can't even successfully add a boot option in UEFI mode to enable USB boot.  I have been successful in getting the laptop to boot off the drive when I create a MBR Legacy bootable USB, and set it in Legacy mode... and it will install Windows.  I want to do it in UEFI.  Can someone please provide me instructions on how to set up a bootable USB in UEFI mode (in case the Rufus method I've been trying...GPT partition for UEFI) isn't right and 2) instructions on how to set up the USB option in the BIOS that will actually work?  Research indicates that I add a new bootable option and select a file somewhere...I've tried everything with EFI extension and nothing works.  Everything I've tried results in a "bootable device not found" error and a shutdown box.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
looking for assistance after a BIOS update on my XPS 13 9350 failed. I followed the normal procedure and was running the update exe from Windows. Same procedure as used many times before.
During the update the laptop rebooted, but will not restart.
Attempting to power on normally results in the front light sequence of 2 x Orange + 2 x White
An attempt to enter BIOS recovery (ctr+Esc when inserting power) results in a front light sequence of 3 x Orange + 4 x White.
Any help appreciated.

Answer:BIOS Update failure: Dell XPS 13 9350 1.4.15

Reset the system:  unplug the system, remove the base cover, disconnect the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec.   Reconnect the battery and plug in the system.
Try powering up again and entering recovery.  If you can get that far, re-try the recovery procedure.
If you cannot, the mainboard is bad and will need to be replaced.

Hi all,
I recently purchased a TB16 thunderbolt dock. Everything seems to work perfectly except for the fact that my XPS isnt actually charging. The battery indicator shows that its charging but the battery continually drains and not indication of charge time shows up leading me to believe that no power is actually going to the laptop.
I have updated all the drivers except for the Thunderbolt 3 Firmware which continually fails to install. It gives me an error message of  "Thunderbolt Firmware installation failed" and I believe the NVM firmware is 8 currently. Im speculating that this is causing the charging issues. Has anyone had a similiar installation problem? Ive tried disabling my antivirus etc but it continues to fail.

(EDIT: The information below pertains to the XPS 15, not the XPS 13 like the OP is using. Apologies for the confusion.)The TB16 is sold with two different wattage AC adapters: 180W and 240W.  The XPS 15 requires that the TB16 be powered by the 240W adapter in order to charge the system. Check the wattage on the AC adapter you're using with the TB16.
