Preferred Solution: Password Manager for Chrome

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Has anybody noticed a small key icon which has appeared in the address bar in the chrome browser? It is a link which opens the password manager.
It is a new addition which was not there before and there does not seem to be anyway of removing it.
Anybody come across this?

Hi guys,

I'm just curious what is in your mind the best secured or the lesser evil password manager that can be used with chrome.

As I'm using mostly Chrome OS, I'm looking for a password manager that does not need to install anything on the target PC.

I'm using Sticky Password Manager now and while it's good, it requires me to install it's based software on a targeted PC in order for it to be used. That cannot work on a Chromebook which I used often.

And given that Lastpass had been compromised multiple times, could I still trust them with my data as they're still being rated as the top choice as a recommended password manager?

Many thanks.

P.S. Apologized if it's not in a correct forum.

Hello,
Chrome browser stores my passwords in the "Password manager". However, some sites ask me annually or half-annually to change the password. But it is not replaced in the "Password Manager", it keeps the old password, and when I try to open that site, the old password is embedded, have to change it manually. Chrome does not open a pop-up window asking if to save the password, as it has one saved.
In the "Password Manager" cannot do any editing.
Answers will be appreciated.
Thanks
Motim

Answer:Password Manager in Google Chrome

I believe you must delete the saved password and then chrome should ask to save the new password the next time you log in.

Or set chrome to never save passwords and use a better password manager like LastPass.

I was looking at using the LastPass password manager to keep track of all my passwords, but they seem to have gotten hacked awhile back

I use Google products all the time (just about everything but Chrome) and was wondering if someone could tell me what their built-in password manager is like? Are your passwords encrypted and do your passwords auto-fill on webpages?

Answer:Chrome built-in password manager

Rule of the thumb for better security is "do not save passwords".

Yes Chrome encrypts the passwords. But not the usernames. The encryption is done using Windows API. It makes sure that only Windows user who saved the password can view them. A hacker who steals your password database cannot decrypt them. On Linux machines, encryption is done using Gnome keyring.

Yes Chrome also has auto-fill feature.

Problem: When installing KTS and KPM, KPM doesn't install chrome extension...so I have to manually find it...which is brutal.

I contacted Kaspersky support, they sent me to this link:

How to add the Kaspersky Password Manager 8.0 (Windows) extension to Google Chrome

Unfortunately, the extension on that list is different than the one I had 10 days ago (had to re-install). Does anyone know where I can get the updated (if there is one) extension? The one I had before was more polished looking than this one (chrome icon matched the look of the KPM tray icon).

Found it!

I have a W510, Win 7 pro, 64 I find that Lenovo password manager will not fill the "user name" section of my gmail login in IE10 and Chrome (it only fills the password section and I have to manually enter gnail user name). In firefox it fills both the user and pass of the gmail - so no problem here. Any thoughts how I might be able to fix this problem in IE and Chrome?

My computer was running slow so I went to my task manager and seen a whole bunch of Google Chrome processes running. I was confused at first because I don't even have Google Chrome installed. As I tried to stop the processes one at a time, more only popped up. Then I looked it up on the net, found others yall have helped on this site, and know there's something wrong. If possible, would like to know how and when the malware was installed as I have multiple students that use the pc and this is the first time ever had this happen, would like to know if it was a user doing something wrong by accident or on purpose (is even possible to know, but mainly would like to just get pc fixed!)

I right clicked and Disabled Antivirus AutoDetect (Norton); Downloaded zoek and have result log attached. Required a pc reboot and did that too. Problem is still happening. It also changed my home page to google.com (I changed it back). I also uploaded a picture of my task manager if that helps any.

Thanks!!!

The title says it all! Currently using Norton Identity Safe's standalone password manager, but would like to start using Lenovo's instead. Attempted to import .DAT and/or .CSV files from Norton, but no option for these file types appeared in Lenovo's Password Manager. If not an option to import directly, is it possible to add one of the files to the location Lenovo stores the password manger entries?

Solved!

Answer:W520 - Lenovo Password Manager - Can .CSV or .DAT files be imported from other Password Managers?

Hello,  No you can't import .CSV or .DAT files into Password Manager. It uses a .PWM file format, and uses a 256-bit key AdvancedEncryption Standard (AES) with Microsoft CryptoAPI. You can export your info to be used in another machine with the Thinkvantage Password Manager installed, but not from another password manager. More info here:Password Manager 4 Deployment Guide Cheers!

Which free offline password manager would you prefer (without cloud)?

I already use sticky password premium. Sticky password has improved its windows extensions with new graphical identifier for input fields. This has made it very easy to use and autofill works for all sites now.

But i want to know if KeePass is better, being a open-source & free. Does it's autofill works with every site?

Please share & help me decide.

Answer:BEST Offline Password Manager: KeePass Vs Sticky Password Free?

It looks like you want to use them for online form-filling. I would use neither of them, KeePass does not have good browser integration it relies on external add-ons and opens one port just for form filling. It is good for offline secure storage.Sticky Password free is good but does not offer anything extra other than the passwords(for my use).If you are using Sticky password it is good for onlline auto-logins.

Hello, I received a new laptop for Christmas and, while testing out the keys, clicked on what I now know is the 'lock' button above the numpad. It locked the operating system, as expected. I swiped my fingerprint, but when I do so, it goes to Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro and informs me that it must validate my password. I cannot change the username or location, but it has two fields: New password and a second one to confirm the previous. I tried my Lenovo password, my Windows 8 password, writing nothing in the boxes, and creating a new password with all the usual limitations - numbers, 8 characters, etc., etc.. They all return with the same 'Credential Error' that it cannot validate my password. Windows 8 will not log me in unless I complete the Fingerprint login. Restarting does not seem to work. What can I do to fix it? I'd rather not format my PC a couple weeks after I got it, you know?

Answer:T540: Fingerprint Password Manager not accepting new password.

*bump*  after an update- my fingerprint manager is now saying this error as well.  i can't change my password and the revealed password is incorrect.  anyway to reset this? . im afraid one day my fingerprint reader will not be able to read my fingerprint anymore and i will never be able to login ever again

Cyber criminals have started targeting the password managers that protect an individual's most sensitive credentials by using a keylogger to steal the master password in certain cases, according to research from data-protection company IBM Trusteer.
The research found that a configuration file, which attackers use to tailor the Citadel trojan for specific campaigns, had been modified to start up a keylogger when the user opened either Password Safe or KeePass, two open-source password managers. While malware has previously targeted the credentials stored in the password managers included in popular Web browsers, third-party password managers have typically not been targeted.
While the current impact of the attack is low, the implications of the attacker’s focus is that password managers will soon come under more widespread assault, Dana Tamir, director of enterprise security for IBM Trusteer, told Ars Technica.
“Once the malware captures this master key, then they can use that master key to exercise complete control over the machine and any of the user’s online accounts,” she said.

I have a ThinkPad SL400 with Windows Vista.  I have installed and am using Lenovo Password Manager.  During the install it sets the master password to match your windows login password.  The tools work good but now when I change my Windows Login Password the Password Manager will not work.  If I bring it up and try to login with the new password it appears to accept and closes the login window, but it does not activate.  If I use the old password it give a login failed message. I had to go and change my windows password back to the old value to get it working again.  Now that my passwords are stored inside the software I need it to work, but I also need to change my Windows Password. What is the method to change the master password for Lenovo Password Manager or sync it automatically with my windows password? Thom

When I launch Chrome, I find 10 to 12 "chrome.exe *32" processes running in the background and the laptop can get pretty slow.

Chrome regularly displays "Not responding", as the laptop struggles to process what should be a simple opening or closing of a tab.

This is what I have at the moment, with just one Chrome window and one tab:

I have 64-bit Win 7.

Also, I no longer get the Google page, when I open the Browser for the first time, only "about:blank". It appears from the second tab onwards and for every other Chrome window and tab I open and shows the frequently visited sites, as normal.

What can I do?

Answer:1 Chrome window (1 tab), but 12 "chrome.exe *32" in Task Manager!

Hi,
Obviously you have some corruption most likely a virus or malware,
What type of extensions do you have installed in Chrome,
Review Jacee’s instructions to run Adwcleaner here post #7,

This is what the download button looks like on the BleepingComputer site,

You can use these free tools to see if they find anything,
Manually Update them before running full scans,
Try not to use your computer while the scans are running, (one at a time of course).
See this tutorial on how to download and run Malwarebytes,

Hi, I just found a neat little feature in Google Chrome and I'd like to share it with others who might not have noticed it.

First you'll click the wrench in the top-right of your browser.

Then navigate to the option 'View Background Pages'

Then in the open window you can manage the processes Chrome is currently using. To get a more detailed look click the 'Stats for nerds' option.

And you should find yourself at a page that looks like this:

Hope this helps!

I was hoping somebody could tell me why the new bookmarks manager in google chrome isn't available in windows xp but it is available in linux zorin 9. When i was on my mom's xp computer the other day i noticed she still had the old classic bookmarks manager but my laptop which is running linux zorin 9 has the new bookmarks manager. Both computers are running the same version of chrome which is 42. I've attached an image of the new bookmarks manager for anybody who hasn't seen it before. Note: the image is not of my computer, i found it with google search.

Additional Details: I did a google search i read there is an extension in the chrome store that gives you this new bookmarks manager but i never installed any extensions besides adblock & avast online security & my mom has no extentions on her machine.

FYI, on both my Windows 7 and 8 systems the classic bookmarks manager is still the default.

So did you check to see if there is an extension present on your system? What is the exact version of Chrome you have installed, ie. "Version 42.0.1234.89 m"

So I like to stay on top of things, and that mean at least running betas of browsers, if not dev channels, and what do I stumble on in Chrome? A new download manager. It's not on by default, so you won't see it right away, but if you go to ABOUT:FLAGS, and enable "New Downloads UI" you no longer get that annoying download bar at the bottom of Chrome. I know some may like that, but I hate it, so to me this is a welcome find. I also noticed they added "Smooth Scrolling", but again, it's not on by default, so you need to enable it under flags too.

Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.
Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable. Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!
Right-click on icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
Press the Fix button just once and wait.
If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

Hi , I have been in this forum last month as I was having some problems with my toshiba laptop, it was sent to to the service center and it is now back and I started it using yesterday.
After I did a CLEAN INSTALL as told in this forum , My is working great.
It looks light, loads quick and is quite fast.
Now When I was looking into TASK MANAGER today , I noticed something strange,
I had FIRE FOX open and CHROME too,
Fire fox was 1 service in task manager while chrome was 12 , It looked strange so I ended one process and whole chrome browser shut down, then I re opened it and it again shows multiple services, all using MEMORY too.

Here is the picture when chrome is not opened

and then here is the one when I opened chrome,

Please tell me is this a thing to worry ???
How can I overcome this problem

Answer:Task Manager Shows 12 Process for CHROME

This is a "feature" of Chrome - Each module in Chrome runs as a separate process, so shows up as a unique PID in Task Manager. This includes each Tab that is open, and each Add-on. It is designed this way for stability - supposedly a fault in one process will not "take Down" the whole program.

Its something that can look odd but it's basically a quirk of programming style

I can only assume that either you closed the main process or the system is set-up by chrome to assume that if a user closes one process they wish to close all

Cookies can be used for authentication, storing your site preferences or anything else that can be saved as text data. Unfortunately they can also be used to track you.

You could turn off cookies completely or just shut off third-party cookies. But that would also keep out useful cookies that many web apps rely upon to work (like Google Mail or Calendar).

With Vanilla you can select which cookies you want to keep on a whitelist. All unwanted cookies are deleted automatically (or manually if you prefer).

If you close your browser often, follow the "recommended usage" on the options page to get rid of unwanted cookies whenever you close Chrome. If you seldom close you browser you should let Vanilla automatically delete unwanted cookies after 30 minutes.
By default no cookies is deleted.

All the cookies from visited websites will be in "unwanted cookies" list.
Double click the website that you want in whilelist
Click "Add" to add in whitelist
Website added in whitelist
Similarly add other good websites in whitelist

Here you can choose after how much time the unwanted cookies will be deleted automatically

You can add websites in whitelist as shown below.

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1

Avast antivirus keeps popping up with a message that it has shielded my computer from an executable file named yogozjvdaoeg.exe
I have searched online for references to this, and cannot find a thing.

Chrome had also begun launching itself randomly.
I went into Task Manager and discovered 12 instances of this file running, with a reference to Google Chrome.  I tried ending these processes, and for every one I ended, another one (or more) would start immediately.
I have uninstalled Google Chrome, and still these processes are running, with no way to end them.
I tried using Taskkill, but again, for every instance killed, a whole new set would start up immediately.

I went to the file location (see image) and tried manually deleting it, but it states that Chrome is running, so it cannot be deleted.  Chrome is not running, it has been uninstalled.

Is this a Chrome thing, or could it be malware?  I ran Malwarebytes, and it did not find anything.

Thank you for any help you can give.

Help me make Google Chrome OPEN the Bookmarks Manager.  I have already gone through the menu, Bookmarks, Bookmark manager, but only a blank white page appears.  Nothing else.  The address shown in the browser text bar field is "chrome://bookmarks" .
If the bookmark manager cannot open and show itself, then managing the bookmarks is impossible.  HELP!

Windows 7, Google Chrome  43.0.2357.81 m
I already tried with ABP turned off, and the same problem.

Answer:Google Chrome not letting us open Bookmarks Manager

Note that Google Chrome provides a button next to minimize, maximize and close buttons. This button is used to sign in using the Google account and the browser uses it to manage the bookmarks and other things.
You must sign in using your Google account and then the Bookmark Manager will return to normal.

I have a Windows 7 Lenovo laptop that is running very slow.  I ran virus scans, including Malwarebytes that returned zero results.  I have noticed in Task Manager that there are several processes running with a description of "Google Chrome".

The exe file is in the \userprofile\appdata\locallow\Sun\ folder. This exe cannot be deleted since there is a lock on it. Even if I kill the processes from Task Manager, they regenerate faster than I can delete.

Would you please help me with removing this virus?  Thank you.

I looked in my task manager and saw a number of Chrome processes named Wgvsgnxdj.exe *32 that use about 20% of the CPU. When I end the processes, they restart on their own. The processes are all located in the AppData/LocalLow/Adobe/zqjpwqzm folder.

The native bookmark manager of the Chrome browser is as basic as it gets. All it enables you to do is to search bookmarks, move them to and from folders, and to delete or edit them.

When you compare that to the Firefox bookmarks manager for example, you will notice that it is far superior. From options to sort bookmarks in multiple ways over extensive editing option to the display of additional information about each bookmark in the interface.

Google has released a new Bookmark Manager extension for Chrome and Chromium-based browsers that aims to improve the native bookmark manager.

It replaces the bookmarks manager which you notice when you open the bookmarks in the browser. Instead of displaying folders and links only, colorful tiles and other information are displayed by it by default now.

You find search, edit and import/export options at the top now which is an improvement to the native implementation. The search has been improved by Google as it will include information found on the page itself in the search and not only the bookmark title, snippet and url.

The left displays all folders just like before but with options to display subfolders right away or hide them instead.

The location of each bookmark is highlighted by the tile, and drag & drop operations are supported to move bookmarks around. Tiles seem to be placeholder icons. New bookmarks show a thumbnail image of the site in question instead.

The extension adds a star icon to the toolbar that you ca... Read more

Not sure what this is about, everything was fine then Chrome and other programs started locking up. When I rebooted, the boot process was slow, and everything else was too, and kept locking up. I suspected (but may be wrong) that it had something to do with a third party program that I had just installed called ClassicShell on Windows 10. I wasn't too impressed with it so I uninstalled it. When I tried to uninstall Chrome in order to reinstall it, it kept saying I had to close the Chrome window even though Chrome was closed. I went into the Task Manager and saw Chrome listed several times. I closed all those, uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome, and rebooted. Eventually things seemed to return to normal, but when I look at Task Manager, it still shows Chrome is loaded several times over (see the attached snip).

Answer:Task Manager shows Chrome running 7 or 8 times.

Hi, this is normal, it is by design, chrome loads separate processes for web apps and plugins from the browser process so if a plugin fails or web app the browser is not taken down... much more complicated then this, still you should get the idea.

You can view what these processes are in chrome click on the three bars (far right corner) go to more tools and click on task manager, here you can see the chrome processes detailed. Happens on all machines.

I had been using AVG & found it adequate. I got this computer in fall 2009 with Windows 7 32-bit on it. Since then, I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials. But it never found anything, until this month.Nov 21, I decided to try AVG again. D/Led the 30 day trial version & ran it. It found 4 Trojans in less than an hour. There was a "buy right now" sales pitch - pushy already; I was suspicious. Deleted AVG on 26th.Dec 30, I found right away that my computer is infected with a serious, really active bit of Malware/virus. I don't know its name; it apparently settles into or at least uses a directory in Windows ... C:\\Windows\sysWOW\dllhost.exe is said to be the culprit. MalwareBytes was continuously blocking "ads," I guess they are, generated by dllhost.exe? Try as I may, I've not been able to do anything about it.(Update: I bought & used Malwarebytes in 2014, March thru July I think. It used a lot of CPU while running. Slowed me down. I thoughtlessly deleted it ... at least, I think I did.)The very frequent message that Malwarebytes is blocking outgoing "stuff" must have been generated by the virus itself, as MWB wasn't on here at that time. My CPU was running at=close to 100%. The main user seemed to be C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dllhost.exe.Dec 31, MSE found something!: Trojan:Win32/Powessere.A!reg - "severe, active." I'm trying to fix my mother-in-law's little Toshiba netbook. They were reporting that it ran incredibly slowly, and when I looked in task manager, I saw lots of browser.exe items that reported to be running in Chrome, but Chrome isn't even installed on the computer.

I ran the Malware protocol, but had trouble getting some of the logs. Roguekiller didn't put a log on the desktop as expected from the instructions. I think I messed up the Malwarebytes one because it didn't happen exactly as the instructions said it would and I missed my chance. I didn't want to re-run it because the instructions said not to. When I opened TDSSkiller, it said "Cannot initialize log". I ran it anyway but sure enough I didn't get a log. HitmanPro and MGLogs are attached.

I basically want permission to start all over and run the whole protocol again.

Thank you for your help.

Answer:Lots of Browser.exe's in Task Manager but Chrome not even installed

Try re running both RogueKiller and Malware Bytes please and see if you can get us the logs.

Hi,

I noticed a few days ago that my computer was running slow.  I opened the task manager and noticed that the dllhost.exe*32 was in my Task manager over 20 times.  I ran my antivirus and nothing came up, I have both Malware, and Comodo.  I read through some removal logs and found one that was the same issue as mine basically.  I downloaded the Farber Recovery Scan Tool.  At first, I didn't read ALL the way through it and ended up downloading someone else's fixlist.txt that was part of a reply.  At the time I just figured it was a blanket fix for everyone, didn't realize it was for that specific computer.  So I pressed fix and it seemed to work......temporarily.  I also deleted Chrome but it still pops up in my Task Manager although I don't have the program.

So...now I have read more and am going to do this the right way.  I ran a new scan and am including it in the post.  Hopefully someone can help me fix the problem.  I really appreciate all the help.

I have a HP Pavillion dm4, 64 bit, running Windows 7 Home Premium

Here are my logs:
 Addition.txt   40.46KB
  4 downloads

 FRST.txt   82.95KB
  5 downloads

 Shortcut.txt   81.92KB
  1 downloads

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much,

Mik

Hello, I've seen a few topics relating to my problem but wasn't sure if the steps are exactly the same for each person or if they are customized from problem to problem.

I'm running windows 7 and as other users have stated, my computer was running slowly, freezing up periodically and minimizing programs I was using. I checked task manager and at that time I saw many dllhost with description COM surrogate running, and trying to end the processes they just kept appearing again. At that time I had AVG as my antivirus and malwarebytes. Only AVG detected the file but it could not delete it. I then uninstalled AVG and changed my antivirus to Bitdefender and that seemed to have stifled the symptoms although I don't believe it ever fixed the problem. My computer was running smoothly for about a week and now I have a filename uirrvmzweu.exe with description google chrome. My computer symptoms are about the same as they were when the dllhost process was running. They both act very similar as far as I can see.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

Woke up to a new bookmark's page in Chrome - and I DO NOT like it
I want those tiles or list view to be history.
Is there a way to get the old one back?

Answer:Disable Chrome's new bookmark manager page. Any way to get the old one back?

Best way I dealt with such pages, I created on my hard-drive my own default home page, and "hard-wired" IE, GChrome, FF to use that hard-drive html as home page. From that home page, I can go anywhere anytime. I know of no way to go back into history and use a past page -- unless one can copyNpaste that desired html onto the hard-drive, make a few necessary tweaks, and "hard-wire" that page into IE, GChrome, FF.

I am experiencing the same issues as some of your other users with a Fake Google Chrome process residing my Task Manager screen. My issue on my Laptop began yesterday, after I tackled removing a dllhost.exe issue over the weekend. I thought I had done well to get rid of it, using information from your forum, but then this file showed up the next day.My file is titled "Immytfefs.exe" and it states that it resides in the "C:\Users\User\AppData\LocalLow\Adobe\nmvkurfye" directory. It says it is a Google Chrome process, but I have uninstalled that program, and it is still there. This issue is of no real practical consequence to me other than the fact that it's a bit annoying and also a matter of curiosity as to whether I can alter the settings of my Chrome browser bookmark manager so that it won't open up each time two thirds of the way down the menu and with the same folder being opened with it's list of contents.

I've attached a partial screen clip below to show you that specific area to which it always opens. I have the bookmark manager loaded into my bookmark bar (toolbar) and have the bookmark manager list open as a sidebar. My problem is that I am unable to alter the settings so that list opens to the beginning of the list, and not to the "Reference Information" folder area, and also I cannot stop that folder from being opened each time I open the manager.

I of course have closed the folder and set the list to the top of the selections when I closed out in hopes that setting would be kept, but no such luck. If anyone could inform me as to how the default setting could be altered, I would appreciate it.

Quite frankly, I am uncertain as to whether this is a Google Chrome issue or a Windows 7 issue.

hello I have been playing with this multiple google chrome processes in task manager past few days it is malware but haven't been successful in removing it I have traced file to multiple disguised fake folders it created saved the location in note pad and booted computer in safe mode deleted the folder only to have it reappear in a new folder it created.  done this three times before investigating more on line about the issue. if im understanding correctly it requires a more practiced hand than my own to fully remove it I will post a farbar txt of its findings in this chat and if anyone is available to walk me through how to remove it I would greatly appreciate your time and help I hate  to say this but I really admire this one normally I can handle basic malware but this is really out of my league
I work during the day Monday through Friday 8 to 5 so any time during evenings or weekends I can really spend time and get this removed with a practiced hand

All of the icon of application (.exe) files suddenly become blank , before this problem occured the .exe icons show properly like Nvidia will show Nvidia icon & Norton will show Norton icon.

But now , it's all blank icons ! Take a look at the screenshots .

Google Chrome

Internet Download Manager 6.21 Build 3 (Latest Version)

But it shows proper icon in my Windows Explorer .

I have already :
- Re-installed
- Searched through the internet
- Default File Type Associations - Restore
but still no luck.

I don't know what happened , it occurred recently . I've disabled my system restore so there's no chance I can restore to previous session.

I'm still able to open the downloaded application files but the icon is messing up which is showing blank icon !
But it shows properly in Windows Explorer.

Please help !

Answer:Blank .exe icon in Google Chrome & Internet Download Manager.

Hi PirateCreed,

I came across your problem because I had the same problem you mention with a new install of Google Chrome today. Could have been a problem for me because I used the corporate msi to install Chrome because I did not really want the program to install to the C: drive (yea, good luck with that one). I could probably write a book about that.

So this is what I did:

1. Uninstalled the 32-bit Chrome.
2. Search the C: drive for any mention of Chrome. May have to make sure hidden files are showing. Found remnants in ProgramData, Program Files (x86), and my Windows 7 x64 user profile. Deleted all.
3. Reboot.
4. Search through the registry for Chrome (complete word only). Deleted all relevant keys (gotta be careful here).
5. Reboot.
6. Went back to the download page for Chrome, chose the Alternate (offline) Google Chrome installer (Windows), selected the Alternate installer for all user accounts link, and under the Download Chrome button selected the 64-bit version (not sure if that is necessary but since I have x64, why not).

64-bit - https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/?platform=win64
32-bit - https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/?platform=win

7. Let the Chrome install, since it is for all users it will install in the Program Files (x86) folder, don't ask me why. I always assumed x64 programs installed to the Program Files directory.
8. Reboot.
9. Joy at last.

Hope this helps but of course your mileage may vary.

Chrome Password Remover is a simple, yet efficient application that can retrieve a list of passwords stored inside your Chrome browser, allowing you to remove items individually or all of them at once.

It can be a good addition to your collection of privacy tools, serving to wipe logins in the blink of an eye. It spares you the trouble of manually locating such details and all the more, it is able to delete the information beyond recovery.

The advantage that this application brings is the possibility to erase credentials from a variety of Chrome profiles, as long as you provide the path to them.

By default, it detects the location of the profile belonging to the user that?s currently logged on, but you can redirect it to another Chrome App Data folder if you wish.

Okay the problem is peculiar.
I had chrome for long in my ol ubuntu installation. And that time it worked fine. Lastnight I reinstalled ubuntu freshly, so I had to download and install chrome (the current stable version from their site). Now this new chrome is asking to save password for every websites, except their own i.e. Google accounts.

Last time I also had this same version of chrome but the difference was that i got that version through updates starting from a lower version, so my all settings was saved. Now this new chrome is fresh and not offering to save passwords.

And at an ultimate bad moment, I deleted that lower version .deb package mistakenly '-.- Now all I have this new chrome.

Answer:Chrome not asking to save password.

Open Chrome, go to Settings and click the blue 'Show Advanced Settings' link at the bottom of the page.

In the Passwords & Forms section, remove the tick from the 'Offer to save passwords' box.

Ok, I have Xmarks for syncing bookmarks, but now I need to know how to sync passwords. Anyone know an extension to sync Chrome passwords?

edit: looked at LastPass. Don't really like that approach.
The Ideal would be SyncPlaces ported to chrome.

Answer:Chrome password sync?

Well, I had to give up on SRWare Iron. LastPass appears to be the only game in town for syncing passwords in Chrome and it didn't detect Iron. I installed Chrome Beta. Feels the same and 3rd party utilities seem to work.

Signed into Gmail and Chrome I tried to look up a stored password by going to setting, managae stored passwords, clicking show at which point I receive a pop up.

It's never happened before and I don't have a Windows password. I can't swipe because my fingerprint reader is disconnected, but I don't think that would work anyway.

I imagine more will be having this problem as it just started.

Anyone notice Chrome doesn't even try to send your password when logging into bookmark sync? The button just comes back with no net access.

Also if you try to go the "I forgot my password" route, the letters you have to type in are so distorted you can't read them. So they'll play audio. But guess what? The audio is so distorted it's just a garble.

Why are they locking is out? Is it a jewelry store or something?

Answer:chrome not sending password?

What did they cancel the service? As soon as I hit Stop Syncing on another browser on another machine, now I can't log in. Must be dev. channel bug. Neverming. I'll use XMarks until it goes away.

Hello -
A customer of mine brought their personal laptop to me to look into why large amounts of data are being used up on their Verizon Hotspot.  This is a Windows 7 Home Premium laptop.  I ran multiple virus scans including ComboFix and Malwarebytes that returned zero results.  I then noticed in Task Manager that there were multiple processes running that belonged to Google Chrome.  I then verified that Chrome is not even installed.  I found the running .exe file in the \userprofile\appdata\locallow\Google directory.  Rebooted into 'Safe Mode' and then removed the folder and then scanned the registry for the same .exe name and removed them as well.  I then restarted the pc and the files reappeared, this time in the Adobe directory rather than Google.  I repeated the steps above with the same results.  Would you please help me with removing this virus?  Thank you.

A fake Google chrome file and dllhost.exe 32 file keeps spamming my task manager. I downloaded the real "Google chrome" from Google so I could use the "Google chrome task manager" to get rid of it but it didn't work. I turned my thumbnail preview off and I haven't seen dllhost.exe 32* since but I'm not sure if its completely takin care of that problem. My temporary fix for the fake Google Chrome file right now is when it starts spamming my task manager I right-click on it> open file location> start logging off and when the force shutdown menu appears I click cancel. For some reason it completely vanishes from my task manager for a couple seconds when I start logging off. Then I go back to my "open file location" and quickly delete the file before it starts back up. This stops it from spamming me but I have to do it every time I get on my computer. Still looking for a permanent solution for it.

Greetings! first time posting, though lurking for a little bit. and hopefully this is the best place for this, unless i should split it up.

I have been getting various BSOD's from my computer recently, though most recently it was 0x0000000A. I think it may stem from google Chrome, as I get these when opening multiple tabs. Curiously this only happens on my main profile. My unused profile is fine.

perhaps unrelated, but after these freeze ups and BSODs, my task manager user name section has gone completely blank, save for system idle process. I try to restart terminal services like a older thread suggests, but it immediatly stops. There was another forum that had a termsvcfix.zip, but that did not work either.

Another thing is if i Log out of my unused user, and into the one i use the most, or vice versa, an error window pops up saying logon.exe is in use by another user.

I realize this is pretty vauge and I'm willing to do whatever you need me to to help diagnose. Thanks so much!

UPDATE: I tried turning on my computer today to try and update all the drivers and the BIOS, when after being logged in for about 5 minutes (into the user name that I've been having problems with) I get another BSOD with a stop error of 0x0000008E.

Password Alert helps protect against phishing attacks.
If you enter your Gmail or Google for Work password into anywhere other than accounts.google.com, you?ll receive an alert, so you can change your password if needed.

Password Alert also tries to detect fake Google sign-in pages to alert you before you?ve typed in your password. To do so, Password Alert checks the HTML of each page you visit to see if it?s impersonating a Google sign-in page.

I recently changed the passwords for both my yahoo accounts.

If we call them Dan1 and Dan 2, I believe one of the accounts chrome seems to have registered. The other one, although Dan2 does show up in my dropdown when signing in, if I select that it's apparently using the old password to log me in. How do I make it recognize the new one?

Answer:chrome has wrong password saved

I would say go into the options and under the Personal Stuff tab there is a button to show saved passwords. From there you should be able to find the old password that it has saved and delete it. Never tried it myself but I would think that would work.

Hi

I frequently use i a website called https://www.lectio.dk/lectio/133/forside.aspx. It is a website where i can see what lessons i have the next 2 days and see my homework and such. To get acces to the information i need a login, which i easily can remember. The problem is that i would prefer just to be able to click login when i come to the website, but it does not ask to save username and password

I have checked if the website is listed in the "never save"-list in options, and it is not there. I have never been asked to save the username and password.

PS. the website is in Danish.

Hello there,

I recently noticed my laptop running very slow, especially when using Youtube videos.  I deleted some old junk to free up some memory but that didn't help.  Defragged my laptop and ran several virus scans, but no improvment and nothing found on the scans.  I found a new program installed on my laptop called "Spigot Search Protection" which I uninstalled.  No improvement after this.  I then noticed about a dozen processes running on my Task Manager that appeared to be Google Chrome windows.  They were using up a ton of memory... and I use Firefox not chrome so I thought it was weird.  I uninstalled Google chrome, but they remained open and listed as google chrome programs.  I opened the file location and ran a virus scan directly, and it came back with no threats detected  (I ran Kaspersky). The image name for each process that is running is Lnzdypqnuf.exe*32 and appears as a GoogleChrome file.
At this time I did a Google search and came up with this website (it seems others have had the exact same problem).  I saw that each case should be handled specifically, so I decided to register and post instead of trying to figure it out myself.

If anyone can assist me with getting rid of this problem I would greatly appreciate it.  I have never downloaded a virus before, and do not open ads or clickbait on websites.  I do use Utorrent once in awhile and expect that is how I downloaded this vir... Read more

Question: password manager

Hi Guys, My had to re image my hard drive yesterday and ofcourse I lost all my files etc. which I knew that I would. Now my problem is that my password manager does not seem to be working properly. Before the re image, I could go to any one of my yahoo or hotmail accounts and a password manager window would pop up and I could just click on the account that I wanted to go to and it would fill in the user name and password for that particular account. Now the little password manager window does not pop up even though I have saved all accounts information in the password manager. How do I correct the problem? What am I doing or not doing to cause the password manager window to not come up? Thanks for the help in advance.

it would be helpful if you could post which Lenovo Notebook and Operating System you have, even better post the Type and Model Number this will help members to help you. Please do NOT post your s/n.

If you are able to, please also post the version of password manager you have installed.

Question: Password Manager

I have a password that is apparently still being 'managed' by Windows and I need to delete or change it!
Where do I find it and How do I delete or change????

Answer:Password Manager

There are a few places where PW are stored. Since I'm not sure which one you are referring to, I will list them

1) For Windows Stored Application Passwords - Go To Your Control Panel, then Go into "Users". Choose a Username, then after you have selected a user, on the left side is a menu. Select "Manage My Network Passwords"

2) For Internet Explorer Passwords, Go to your Control Panel, then Select Internet Options. Then Select the Content Tab, then click on AutoComplete.

3) Or If it is a PW that is saved by a Cookie, delete your cookies. Go to your Control Panel, then Select Internet Options. General Tab, then click Delete Cookies.

Were one of those options what you needed?

Question: Password Manager

I am thinking of using a password manager.

Two products seem to be recommended: Keepass or LastPass.

LastPass seems to be far easier to use, but I have difficulty in understanding why people trust a cloud based system with their sensitive information.

My question is Can I trust their cloud?

Thanks

Ps. I use websites that use passwords, I might use it for banking - only if absolutely convinced.

Answer:Password Manager

Hi,

Cloud-based services are usually more secure than your personal PC. So yes, storing information on a server somewhere is going to be more secure than storing that same information on your personal computer.

On that note, I personally would NOT store a banking password, either on my personal computer OR a cloud-based system. Just remember, though, that most browsers now even use cloud-based backup for passwords, etc. as well. So, if you save passwords in your browser, and have the cloud service enabled on that browser, you're already storing those passwords in a cloud environment.

Question: Password manager

Good morning,I would like to install the extension "Password Manager" for Google Chrome. When, from "Client Security", I try to start the wizard, so when I click on "Enable", you open the "127.0.0.1:9001/pmstatus" link in the same browser, but without results.Best regards,Christian2016
