Dell monitor webcam not working Windows 10

Question: Dell monitor webcam not working Windows 10

Ive tried to reinstall everything. I dont have the original CD. Where can I download the drivers or get the webcam working?

In Device Manager, under Monitors, it shows Dell S2340T (HDMI), but does not show anything under videos. I updated my Windows from XP to 7 as it crashed and now Ive updated it to Windows 10, and I think I lost all the drivers then.

Preferred Solution: Dell monitor webcam not working Windows 10

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've owned this laptop for quite a while and had been using Webcam Central to control the Integrated Webcam on my Alienware M17x R4.   I never had any issues using Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or even Windows 10 until my system updated on 8/20/2016 with a scheduled Windows 10 update.
After the windows 10 update my system restarted and the next time I went to use my webcam I noticed that I couldn't control the pan / zoom / or tilt or alter any of the settings in webcam central.  If I attempt to change anything it automatically changes back instantly.  For example of I move the slider to zoom, or attempt to change the pan, it auto goes back to where it was and will not allow me to change the settings.
I also notice that my mouse pointer flickers over the webcam central GUI, meaning, there seems to be some issue with the GUI after the windows 10 update, I assume is also whats causing the settings not to be changed.
I have tried uninstalling both the drivers and software and reinstalling to no avail, same problem is present after reinstallation of both drivers and the webcam central software.
Wondering if anyone else has run into this and whether there was some type of resolution.
I was able to get the pan / zoom / tilt working with 3rd party webcam software, however I would prefer to go back to using webcam central.

I was also already running Win10 and it didnt mess with Webcam Central - till yesterday when I gave the reboot necessary to install the update files.Pan/Zoom/Position Arrows show as available to be used but if you try to use then, nothing happens and back to full zoom. Only thing it allows me to do is to change to Face Tracking.I called Dell Suport Center and for about 2 hours I ran diagnostics and tried possible solutions with the tech assistant but he wasnt very helpfull at all. All diagnostics came back with positive/OK/passed results and they offered me a paid support to fix the problem. Not exactly a good solution, is it?It was clear though MS updates messed up with the webcam driver - I checked myself at Devices/Imaging there was an update for the driver done exactly when MS updates were done. Unfortunatelly, the rollback option wasnt available. For that matter, I decided to uninstall the whole Windows KB3176938 and CAPICOM (what ever that is) updates done using Control Panel/Updates but no-go. Inspiron 1525 Integrated WebCam not working in Windows 7 64-bit.  I have tried reloading drivers and software. Uninstalled and re-installed multiple times. Making sure that WIA is turned on in services. Tried compatibility mode. Downloaded various driver versions from Creative's website and from Dell. Re-installed the A16 bios upgrade (as suggested by Dell). I used msconfig to make sure that no other applications were started or running. Uninstalled Live Messenger. Device Manager recognizes the camera and says that it is working properly. Despite all of that I still get the message "Camera is not available. Please make sure it is not in use by another program" when using the Dell Web Cam application or Live Messenger. When trying to acquire image with ArcSoft or HP Photo suite I get "Camera is unavailable" as well.  Even in Safemode with all drivers disabled I get the same message. I used the camera just before doing the clean install of Windows 7 64-bit so I know that it is not a hardware issue, but it does appear that there is some type of hardware incompatibility issue with "7". Any ideas? Possible OS settings I'm missing?

After upgrading from windows 8 to windows 10 my webcam is not functioning properly. The webcam was completely green and non funcitonal.
I uninstalled the old drivers and installed the recommended lasted drivers, but now the webcam is just entirely blurry.
The webcam is the Intel RealSense 3D Camera F200.
The two drivers I have installed are:

Intel(R) RealSense(TM) 3D Camera (Front F200) Depth
Intel(R) RealSense(TM) 3D Camera (Front F200) RGB
Intel(R) RealSense(TM) 3D Camera Virtual Drive

What can I do to fix this? Has anyone had a similar issue? Is there some sort of camera setting where I can tweak the quality or is this just a driver issue with windows 10?

Thanks in advance,

This monitor cam with the Studio XPS system some years ago. It seems I've always had a pop up that a USB device can't be connected after the second wake up from sleep mode but never had any device that wasn't working.

Never used my Webcam ever and discovered that error just lately is from the Webcam which "after" said error doesn't appear in device manager other a yellow triangle device. Before that at power up, I have a working Webcam under Imaging Device but after the pop up, I have no Imaging Device. Rebooting doesn't help only a complete power down and up solves the issue.

hello, new to the forums and rather than (hopefully) reinstalling everything again which I have done several times already I want to see if there is actually anything some one might be able to do. basically as the question explains I keep constantly getting BSOD any time I plug in my usb cord from my monitor having it to install the webcam drivers which makes It crash. It used to not be like this so that's what makes me confused.
Please anything will help! I've had this problem for a long time and although its definitely not mandatory I would like to use the functions of my monitor again (I.e. I have a couple more usb plugs as well bedsides webcam).

Thanks in advance.

I'm retiring an old, slow computer on which we had hooked a Dell SP2208WFP monitor. It included an embedded video cam, which is working fine on the old PC.

The replacement PC can't seem to recognize the webcam, the monitor itself works fine. Dell tech support has been less than useless..their first answer was flash BIOS. I tried explaining to the guy that this wasn't limited to 1 PC 3 PC's can't see the monitor (By for the sake of clarity, I'm going to deal with only one of the PC's).

Some hot shot over @ Dell forums thought that he might get Kudo points or something by telling me I needed both the monitor driver files AND the Webcam apps file. I knew that already.

What it appears I need is a driver for the webcam. Creative made the webcam, but since it's embedded in the monitor, they can (or wont support it).

I'd really like to get this camera operational on the new PC. Both old and new systems are runnign XP Pro, SP3. The camera shows up as Unknown Device under DevManager.

Hey all,
First of all I know this problem is rather specific to Dell XPS 17 (L702x), but I keep having problems with my webcam. I've tried quite a lot of things, and I am running out of ideas.

Now, what I have tried doing:
1. Uninstall and install driver,
2. Uninstall and reinstall Dell Webcam Central
(both from Dell website)
3. switching off computer, taking battery out, holding the power button for half a minute, then on again
4. I have disconnected the camera and connected it again
5. I have manually checked connections, (seemed ok)
6. I have tried installing and uninstalling, in all combinations that I could think of, safe mode, run as admin, nothing worked.
I have however found something. No matter how i try updating the driver, i always have the one from 2006, version 6.1.7601.18208
As far as I've seen the one on dell website is from 2011.
I am guessing this is the problem and I am actually not updating the driver. I have also unintalled old driver, updated new one, then restart. After it restarts i get the "found new hardware" message and install the old driver for the webcam (2006). So I do not know how to make windows not to install the driver automatically.
I must also mention that this happens once every 3-4 months, and before I managed to solve it with reinstallation of driver, now nothing.

Also, my mic is on the same board as the webcam, (on top of the screen). Since on skype the mic works well, but the camera not, I suspect it is only a software is... Read more

Answer:Dell Webcam not working

The Dell Latitude D620 is an old laptop, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't come with a built-in webcam.

Is an external USB webcam being used?

If it is, describe it.

So I decided to format and reinstall Windows Vista Basic 32-Bit on my Dell Vostro 1400 laptop.  After reinstalling Windows and all the drivers for the devices, I find that the integrated webcam doesn't work for some reason.  Going into Dell Webcam Center, I set it to any of the modes (video, photo capture, etc.) and while the blue light next to the cam lights up, no picture appears, only a black box where the picture is supposed to be shows up.  The microphone works, and Windows' Device Manager indicates the driver is working properly with no driver problems.  I update the driver for the webcam through Windows Update, and it still doesn't work.  The webcam is manufactured by Creative Technology Ltd.  I didn't check if the webcam worked before reinstalling, so I don't know if the webcam is physically broken or is it just a driver problem? Thanks for any help.

I have a Dell E5530 using windows 8.1 Been using laptop for 5+ months.
For the first time today, I clicked the Camera panel and received msg

?Connect a Camera?.

Ran Dell PC diagnostics, no errors were found.
I do not have a Imaging Device folder (that stores the Webcam) in Device Manager.
Installed Dell Webcam Central, but when launched, I get msg
"Please plug in a supported device" I am not able to run this application either.

Any suggestions.

Do I need to load any Webcam drivers for win 8?

Answer:WebCam not working for Dell Latitude.

Isn't there something called "Youcam" installed? It wold have been installed by Dell as an APP, not MS. On every Dell laptop Ive ever had, that program has always been installed.

Check your Desktop, or go into "all apps" on your Start Screen and look for "Youcam" - If it is there, use that instead.

Hey guys i'm new to this forum and I'm not sure if i'm posting in the right section.

Anyways,here are the specs .

OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Version 6.1.7600 Build 7600
Other OS Description Not Available
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Name FAMILY-PC
System Manufacturer Dell Inc.
System Model Inspiron N7010
System Type x64-based PC
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M 380 @ 2.53GHz, 2533 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)

So I bought this laptop about 2 or 3 years ago and the webcam was working fine till about 8 months ago.I don't know why but I somehow screwed up Dell Webcam Central by deleting some stuff from it without a proper removal installation and now whenever I try to install it,there's a message saying I got a newer version in my PC still and I tried uninstalling and removing everything related to it.I'm not sure but I think there is some kind of registry still in my laptop.I think this problem relates to my integrated Webcam not working, because when I go to a video chat website or skype the Webcam light would turn on for about a second and then turns off again. And when I try to open Webcam Central It doesn't even open and there is a Webcam Central icon in my taskbar.

I tried downloading and updating the drivers but no solution.

Answer:Drivers Not Working For Dell Webcam.

I don't see a web cam driver listed on the Dell downloads for Win 7 64 bit. However I'm looking at the general downloads and not specific for your service tag number. Also the My Dell Downloads will have additional software.

It could be that specific web cam is not fully supported in Win 7.

My integrated webcam suddenly stopped working. Inspiron-15-5559-laptop. It displays a blank screen both for image capture or video capture. At times it suddenly works, however, I see horizontal or vertical lines. (not pixels but lines)
I  uninstalled the driver and  let windows 10 update it.  This did not solve the issue.
I ran the dell diagnostics tools for webcam. It said webcam is functioning normally. However, in the details section it said RGB color dept test WARNING. I am sure the lines that I see at times does indicate something is wrong  with RGB.
I do not know if the above is software issue or hardware? Yesterday I just pushes my screen to greater angle and made it almost flat. Webcam starting functioning normally. But today again the same issue has started.
Any kind help to resolve this issue will be highly appreciated.
Unfortunately my warranty has expired last month only.

I have Dell Inspiron 5558, running on Windows 10 64 bit, version 1703 with 8GB RAM
The integrated webcam simply would not work nor the in-built mic.
When I raised the issue with Dell, they have tried to troubleshoot. Dell diagnostics F12 could not detect any issue.
They have changed the webcam and cable and it was still not working.
They changed the Motherboard and again no luck.
They asked me to reset the system to factory and I did. Now, the Webcam is not there in the Device manager.
In fact, the Imaging Device is not listed there. I have checked under hidden devices and still it was not there. Now they are asking me to take it to the service center for a checkup.
They can't figure out. I am sort of feel that it is a problem related to OS, but I am not sure.
Can one anyone tell me exactly what is the issue? All my drivers are upto date. Believe me, I have done every troubleshoot under the sun!
Your help will be most appreciated.

As the subject suggests, I have a Dell Precision M3800.  I have always used dual monitor with no issue.
My previous screen was an old Samsung 23 Inch (don't know the model exactly) and connected via Mini DP to HDMI.  Worked a dream.
Manage to find a buyer and though - "Let me upgrade - get a Dell Monitor - Dell plays well with Dell".
So got the Dell E2416H Monitor - with a Min DP to DP cable - for the past month I have not been able to fix an issue where by the screen does not refresh itself when you type or a sql comand finishes processing - just looks like it's still process even though it completed minutes ago - but the screen did not refresh the basics of what a monitor should display.
This is such an irritating that I have even gone to the extent of buying a USB 3 docking station and running through DisplayLink - with joy.
Please let me know if someone has a solution that differs from my all my colleagues - their advice is to go buy a Samsung monitor.

I have a Dell Latitude D800 laptop.

I'm having a problem with the monitor.
The display is barely visible. I have to use an external monitor.

When I start the laptop, the monitor works for just 1 second and then it just suddenly becomes very very dim. Its so dim that I can barely see anything. I have to really strain myself under a light to see.
The display is there, but very dim. Its like the stand by mode in cell phones.
I thought it was a virus, so I formatted the hard disk and re installed windows. But it still didn't work.

Now I think I might be missing some driver update. So I went to the Dell website to check for drivers, but it didn't show any display drivers.

Any ideas?

I recently purchased a new Dell Laptop. I have a monitor I use as the second display for all my previous laptops.  It's older but still new enough to use an HDMI cable to connect from the monitor to the laptop. It's a Samsung Monitor.  So when the monitor is used as the 2nd display, the image on the screen is too big.  My task bar at the bottom is cut off and when an application is open, you can see the buttons in the top right and top left to use them. I've tried playing around with the setting but they just make the resolution to grainy when I reduce the size of the icons.  Not sure what else to try?  Thanks!

Hello All, again
I got a dell monitor from a friend because he got a different one because this one wont work. It is a Dell 1908FPC and i plug it into my laptop and i turn on the power.
When it turns on i can see my background so i know it works but after 3 seconds it stops displaying. The green power on led turns orange so i am guessing that it goes into power save or standby mode for no reason. It does this every time. why is it doing this. I know it is not my laptop not working, so it has got to do with the monitor. I tried changing the input from analog to auto to digital, none of them work. It does not work on any other pc either. It either does that or it displays my background for 3 seconds but then it stops displaying it but it is not in power save mode it just is black.

I am not sure I am in the correct forum but this problem is related to an XP upgrade I did for a friend's Dell 4100 which had Win ME on it. This friend lives an hour away from me and I am trying to trouble shoot this problem from my home.

Before the XP upgrade my friend gave me his PC box only (no monitor, mouse or keyboard). I hooked it up to my old Gateway 17" Trinitron, mouse and keyboard and the XP upgrade went fine on my equipment. Since I had no problem with my 17 " Gateway monitor I did not download the latest XP Nvidia driver from their website.

My friend picked up the machine yesterday and when he tried to hook up his Dell Trinitron monitor and run it, he got a message that goes something like "monitor is in power standby mode and needs to be reset by a command from the PC". At this point you can not see anything else on the monitor so he is dead in the water and does not have an alternate monitor or my monitor at his home to fix this problem.

We played with it over the phone by turning it on and off several times to no avail--I think it is hooked up correctly and this monitor was working fine before the upgrade.

Called Dell and they recommended we download the XP driver from Nvidia which I did and which I will burn to a CD. I can not get to his place till this weeked to bring my monitor and the CD.

Was wondering if there is some interim fix to this problem I could tell my friend over the phone to try to get this monitor running without... Read more

Simply put, could somebody please post a link to the GENUINE Dell Webcam Central software for Windows 7, where ever it is on the Dell Drivers Website?

I don't mean some hokey, 3rd rate Vista (or earlier) version of the program, but rather the true 32-bit OEM Windows 7 version that Creative Labs developed specifically for Dell notebooks and netbooks (and please don't refer me to the "Application" CD which came with the computer, because it's nowhere to be found).

Dell has been selling notebooks with the Creative Labs integrated Webcam and the Windows 7 operating system for a good couple of months now, and I know they would not have included the old Vista (or even XP) drivers for use with Microsoft's newest operating system.

I have looked high & low and read just about every post I can get my eyeballs on, but everybody seems to advise loading the old, outdated Vista or XP drivers rather then the new Windows 7 ones, which obviously had to have shipped with the computer, since it had Windows 7 on it from the get-go (and I'm not talking about the "upgraded after-the-fact" scenario, either).

So just a link, please, to the OEM Dell Creative Labs Webcam Central program for Windows 7.

Hi xmetl, the drivers you require are :-
(R216115) R216115.exe - Webcam Drivers
(R230103) Dell_SX2210-Monitor_Webcam SW RC1.1_ R230103.exe - Webcam Central
do a google search on the "R" # and it will take you to Dells' download page for them , these definately work with Win7 64bit so should work with 32bit as Dell supply a generic version for both OSs'

I have just bought a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 15.6" Laptop
...and I want to use my Dell u2412M monitor, to extend the screens for my workspace ( or simply use the bigger monitor screen).
To achieve this I am using an HDMI cable with an HDMI to DVI adaptor to plug the cable into the Dell monitor.
I've tested the cable on my old Sony laptop using HDMI to DVI and it recognises the monitor and works (my other laptop was running Windows 7).
However the new laptop won't recognise or see the monitor at all when I plug in the HDMI cable?
I have checked under "manage my devices" and the graphics card driver seems up to date on the laptop.
Is there something I need to download to make the monitor work please as I assumed it would plug and play.
Many thanks!!!

Hi, I can't seem to get anything higher than 1920x1080 in the list of available resolution options when I connect my Dell U2713HM monitor to my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop. I've run this monitor at 2560x1440 on another laptop over HDMI in the past but that was with Windows 8. The Intel HD Graphics 530 Control Panel doesn't offer any resolutions above 1920x1080 for the external monitor and adding custom resolutions results in the error "the custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity". I'm using the same high speed HDMI cable that worked at 2560x1440 with this monitor on my previous laptop. I'm fully up to date on all of the drivers for the laptop.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not sure what else to try. Could this be a Windows 10 issue? Should I try the standard Intel HD Graphics 530 drivers from the Intel website?

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15 7559 connected to Dell U2713HM monitor over HDMI can't do 2560x1440 resolution in Windows 10

Hi JonoBloo,
The hardware on the system supports the 2560x1440. It should be a software issue. I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the video card driver from Dell website as these drivers are tested on the Dell system. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the video card.

Press the Windows key and Start typing devmgmt.msc and then press enter.
Select the Display adapters listed and right click on it.
Now select properties.
In the properties window, under Driver tab, click on Uninstall button.
Check “Delete the driver software for this device.”
You want to delete the driver click OK.

After the uninstall finishes restart the system. Then reinstall the Intel video card driver for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the video card drivers from Video section onto the system and install it.
Please let me know if this helps.

I recently bought my Phoenix and decided I wanted a monitor from dell, the Gaming S2716DG 27" Screen LED-Lit Monitor with G-SYNC. I tried connecting them together with the USB and DP cables provided and then connected them to a power source. My Dell monitor turned on, but then it said it was entering power save mode. I checked the input, and it was on DP. I asked a friend and he told me it might be my Phoenix, not being set up right. I have connected a laptop to my XPS2720 via a HDMI cable but I cannot see the laptop desktop on the XPS2720 screen.  The laptop is connected to the HDMI in port on the back of the XPS2720 and I have selected the laptop to project to an external display.  I am running latest version of Windows 10.
The problem seems to be that the third OSD button which allows you to switch video input sources does nothing when pressed.  The two OSD brightness buttons work but not the video source select one.  I have downloaded the latest OSD driver (Which is for Windows 8!) but no change.
I was able to connect before with this problem but I have forgotten the work around.  Can anyone figure out a work around that does not involve the OSD button?

Hello - i have recently purchased a new computer for office use. It is a HP PC. I didn't bother buying a monitor because i already have a Dell 22" wide-screen Monitor; however, when i plug it into the computer it doesn't recognize it is there and the monitor goes into 'sleep mode'. Please note that the computer doesn't have a dedicated graphics card, and only a VGA connector, so i have purchased a DVI to VGA connector in order to plug the monitor in.

Any help or referals will be appreciated, thanks.

I know I am not the first one asking this question, but unfortunately my brand new XPS 2720 has this problem! My company bought 5 or 6 XPS 2720 for the senior management staff, I noticed that problem too, you touch the eject light at the right bottom corner on monitor, nothing happened; you use the button on keyboard nothing happened?
Feel really strange, this is something so obvious a problem, why there is no solution, did I miss anything? It is very inconvenient, can somebody help me with this?
Thank you!

Answer:Dell XPS 2720 Disk Eject Not Working, on Monitor and on Keyboard?

Hi all from Spain, I had the same problem with my new XPS 2720. The eject led in the monitor was always on and didn´t work, didn´t eject. At least in my case the problem began when I updated de DELL OS app to the last version (007) available in the Dell Download Drivers page. I uninstalled the new version, reinstalled the previous one, 006, and the led began to work again as it should (light only when a disc is in, and when pushed the disc is ejected). I hope this will help to all of you.

Dear all,
Wonder if you can help me solve a problem. I have just received an XPS13-9350 from the Outlet last week. It was certified refurbished.
I've tried to connect a VGA monitor to it via a USB-C to HDMI, then HDMI to VGA cable. The HDMI to VGA cable works perfectly on my Inspiron 15. The setup also works if I full power down the XPS13, attach USB-C to HDMI to VGA to monitor, and then boot up. The external monitor then works almost perfectly (with the exception of Netflix's video player which makes it flicker blue - Youtube and local video are completely fine).
What I cannot do is plug in this monitor whilst the XPS13 is on already - which is inconvenient as I move on and off desk a lot, and powering down the computer every time is unhelpful. Oddly, the monitor will also not be recognised if I simply Restart from Windows. I have to fully power down and plug everything in before switching the computer on again.
I have updated BIOS, video card and Thunderbolt drivers since and none of these has solved the problem. My system info is:
DELL XPS13-9350
Windows 10
Core i7-6560U, Intel Iris 540 graphics

I've browsed several forums with this issue, and cannot get a fix.

I upgraded a Dell Inspiron 1545 from Vista 64 to 7 64. Everything went off without a hitch (boy was I surprised).
Now that I have it all up and running, I cannot get my webcam working.

I have attempted to install the drivers off the Dell CD that came with the laptop. These are Vista 64 drivers, and they don't work. I have downloaded the drivers from the dell website - they are the same drivers as the CD.

Someone told me I could 'run the webcam in compatibility mode', but if the computer isn't even recognizing the webcam, how would that work?

Device Manager says the webcam is working properly.

I'm at my wits end with this. I really don't want to have to downgrade to Vista, but it's pretty important that this camera work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Cannot use micro phone and cannot use webcam in my dell inspiron 14r 5420 windows 10 64 bit

Hi there, the 5420 doesn't officially support 10, with that said, it might be worth trying the steps at this link under 10. You might be able to force the system to get the driver by removing it from Device Manager and restarting the system. Also on a side note, the drivers for this cam were built into 7/8 so there is nothing separate to download. I hope this helps some. Best regards,Brad

my laptop specifcation here : ( [A300 - 1G5|] ) for any needed details ..

The problem simply is, the webcam stopped working for some reason, an error messeage says "Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer".

I noticed that whenever I put the computer in sleep mode I was getting on the icon tray a notification says "USB device unrecognized"... I wasnt aware what it was - thought it becasue of the USB mouse being plugged... but I think its related to the camera...

software is installed but camera is not working and cant enable it .. I did download the latest driver from toshiba site , but still not working ...

Currently my laptop runs Vista HP SP2 32-bit, Windows defender enabled, Windows Firewall Enabled, Windows UAC enabled, Kaspersky Ani-Virus 2009 Enabled. I only use Windows Live Messenger (which up to date I think , version : 14.0.8089.726) which i used camera with, I quite using face recognition long time ago and rarely use the webcam ... I didnt install or update any drivers and used to have the laptop running perfectly..

So what happened now ?!

Answer:Satellite A300-1G5: webcam stopped working - Webcam driver open fail

I have had a similar error message and could solve this by disabling the webcam software from startup.
In msconfig -> Start Up tab I have unchecked the Chicony webcam software.
This prevents it from automatic loading.
I don?t use MSN but Skype and the Chicony webcam software is always disabled (not executed) if Skype is running.

Maybe you should try this too.

Furthermore you could try this:
Go to device manager, mark the webcam (imaging devices ? USB video device) and deleted it from the device list.
Then reboot the notebook and wait until the webcam has been recognized again.

Then test it.

After trying to load the webcam i get the message: "Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer"

I have tried updating the Driver software for the camera, and updated the BIOS.

This message still keeps coming up. Is it worth uninstalling the camera completely then attemtping to reinstall it?

Sorry if some of this doesnt make much sense, im not entirely "computer savvy"

I hope somebody can help,

Answer:Satellite A300-1MC: webcam not working - webcam driver open fail

Of course!

You should firstly go to device manager and should uninstall the driver.
You should also remove the software from control panel -> Software

After that you should clean the OS and registry using CCleaner. It?s free tool? google?
Then reboot the notebook several times and install the webcam software again.

I have no clue why it wont' work anymore. I checked under device manager and under Imaging devices its called "facap, FastAccess Video Capture".
I enabled it, for some reason it had become disabled, and it wouldn't work. And it seems no Driver updates are available. Also have tried reinstalling the driver but it didn't work. I then uninstalled the old driver and tried to install the driver and it failed. So I used Windows Restore Point feature thing. Now its just disabled.
Any ideas on how to fix it?

Apparently FN+F9 will enable or disable the webcam!
It seems that I had done this inadvertently at some point and turned it off, and while messing around for a solution the other day, II tried the combo it turned back on the webcam!
Quite a powerful key combination I have to say if manually enabling the web cam and reinstalling the web cam driver don't do anything.

before i re-install windows 7 ultimate, built in camera was working properly. and now my webcam is nowhere to be found, oh and ASUS hotkey utility also not working properly after i re-install it.

i've been searching all over the web for the last 4 days
tried by uninstalling n installing the built-in camera driver but it's still not working.

i checked in device manager, imaging devices, properties in the general tab and it says something like this in the location info:

0000.001d.0000. and it says "this device is working properly"

out of curiosity i also tried another cam/ plug-in usb webcam (it's still work properly in my friend laptop) and the result still the same, nothing happened in my laptop. the location info also says something like i mention above.

it's like my webcam is lost somewhere in my laptop, I hv no idea why windows won't detect it?

Also, I would suggest you to restore the system back to previous operating system to check if webcam works.

I've finally found a way to resolve the inverted / vertically flipped / upside down webcam issue with the Chicony camera in the X220T and others when viewed with the Windows 10 Camera App.  FIrst, install the Windows 7 webcam driver for the X220T. This will create an error in the Windows 10 Camera App.  Then install the ThinkVantage Communications Utility. In the Windows Control Panel, click "Hardware and Sound", then "Lenovo - Web Conferencing". In the "Advanced Camera Settings", check "Flip" until the webcam image is the right way up.  Now, in Device Manager, go to "Imaging Devices", then right click on "Integrated Camera" and click "roll back driver". If this option is greyed out, click "Update Driver", "Browse my Computer", "Pick from a list", select "USB Video Device", then click next.  The webcam driver now in use should be the default one from Microsoft. However, if you go back to the Windows 10 Camera app, the webcam image is the right way up! Hooray! P.S. Considering the solution is so simple (probably due to some entry in the registry), I wonder why Lenovo hasn't already issued a permanent fix for this?

I can't seem to get my webcam to turn on.  My Privacy settings are all open and I have run the software and LSC scanning.  LSC says it's ok and passed the tests.  But when I look in Device Manager it does not list there.  I downloaded the software from Lenovo and installed it, it still doesn't show in Device Manager.

WEBCAM NOT WORKING. I have a Toshiba DX730 All-in-One desktop PC running Windows 10. Since I upgraded to Windows 10 my integrated webcam has not worked. I have unsuccessfully tried the following:-

1. Checked the BIOS to ensure the webcam is enabled - it is.

2. Uninstalled/installed the appropriate drivers from Toshiba Support numerous times, including after a clean boot.

3. Uninstalled the hardware from Device Manager numerous times. An interesting point here is that the webcam does not appear in Device Manager under Imaging Devices, but is shown under Other Devices as USB 2.0 Camera, next to which is the dreaded yellow exclamation mark. Right clicking this and selecting Properties always shows that no driver is installed. I've run Driver Update and pointed it to the appropriate folder, but Windows always fails to find the driver.

4. Uninstalled Skype, just in case it was causing a conflict.

5. Run the software in compatibility mode.

None of this has worked!! When I open the Camera app the following error message appears "Something went wrong. Make sure your camera is connected and not being used by another app". Skype cannot detect a webcam.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Answer:Webcam not working after upgrade to Windows 10

- did you uninstall the USB camera as well?

Good afternoon everybody, hope you had a great Christmas.

Unfortunately, one of the gifts I received this Christmas, a webcam (specificially, this webcam), refuses to work on my Windows XP Home computer.

The drivers appeared to install fine (although there was a warning about a missing streamci.dll, which I later put into my system32 folder), however when I try to view the webcam by going into My Computer > Webcam, it gives the following error message -

I realised that it may be a hardware problem, but the product works fine on a friend's Win XP Home laptop with similar specification. To make sure it was a fault with my computer in particular, I tried the webcam function of a conventional digital stills cam and the result was the same - worked fine on the laptop, but the same error occured on my computer. Consequently, I posted the problem here, suspecting it was related to my Win. XP installation as opposed to a hardware fault.

If anyone has any idea how I could go about trying to fix this problem, I would be hugely grateful. Is there any part of Windows I could reinstall or repair relating to its webcam support?

A massive thanks in advance to anyone who can give any help whatsoever.

PS: Service Pack 2 is installed on both systems.

Answer:Windows' webcam component not working(?)

First go to the device manager and check you’re USB for any flags. If there is a flag, remove the device that it is beside and restart the computer and have windows replace it. If there is no flag go into the BIOS and check and see if the USB port is enabled or disabled make sure that it is enabled.

Some weeks ago after a windows update or something, the webcam stopped working under windows. It isn't a hardware problem, as it works fine under Ubuntu.

Laptop Model: Toshiba Satellite L50-A-18R
Webcam Hardware ID: USB\VID_04F2&PID_B41A&REV_2960&MI_00

Uninstalling & Reinstalling the driver in the Device Manager
If I try the "On-line search" option, it fails to find the driver.Installing Toshiba Web Camera Application [doesn't work either]Reinstalling Toshiba System Settings app.Searching on-line by the hardware ID for the drivers.

But it's no use, i'd need the driver files to make it work again.

Thanks in advance for the help.

So recently my computer was re-installed with a fresh copy of windows 7, and not the packard bell windows 7 previously installed.

Everything works perfectly except my webcam, which doesn't seem to work at all or with any program.

I think this could be because I don't have the webcam driver installed as this driver wasn't included in this version of windows 7.

I have scoured the download section of the Packard bell website and there is no webcam driver listed with the other drivers for this computer.

I can't even find the driver after doing a google search :(

What do I do???

My computer is a Packard bell Easynote TK37.

Thank you :)

Answer:Re-installed windows 7, webcam not working :( help!

go to packard bells website and download it from there. It is not in the driver section, it is in the application section.

My computer is a Dell Latitude E6520, with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit edition. I couldn't agree more with the above statement - Dell's "support" (and I use the term loosely here) is practically non-existent.

Hi, I recently upgraded my OS to Windows 10 on my HP Pavilion x2 10-n018TU, but now the webcam is not working. And I was not able to update the "Doritos 1.0 - Ambient Light Sensor Driver - Win10 x86". I tried several times but it still failed to install.  Please help... Thanks.

Answer:Webcam not working on Pavilion x2 (Windows 10 upgraded)

Hi @Bongskie?,Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion x2 - 10-n018tu Notebook and issues with the WebCam drivers. I would go into the Device Manager and remove this Doritos 1.0 driver and software. The Ambient Light Sensor driver is located here: sp72639.exe Then try installing this sp72640.exe  Here is a document that will help troubleshoot the WebCam on Windows 10 using Youcam Software. Restart the Notebook and try the WebCam.Please let me know how this goes.Thanks.

Have you r-installed skype?

Does it do the same thing when booted in safe mode (F8)?

is the driver installed and working (in device manager)??

Please go to start>search>type device manager.
Are there any "unknown devices" with yellow triangles on them?
Is you driver there , listed, and working?

If your driver is missing, or there is a yellow triangle on it, you will need to update it.

what driver did you install? was it win 7, vista, or??????

Could somebody possibly help me out? I've just upgraded from windows 7 to 10 and my webcam (inbuilt on laptop) doesn't seem to be working. I've checked the settings within the camera app and they seem fine. Also have an issue with viewing YouTube videos on Edge - I can't view them (?). Help/pointers appreciated - thanks!

Answer:Why isn't my Webcam / camera working after the upgrade from Windows 7 to 10?

Regarding camera, check device manager. If there is exclamation or x mark there, you probably need to install a driver. Get the driver from the laptop website. You should be able to use windows 8 driver if 10 is not available.

I have a Logitech C250 webcam. As soon as I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista, I was no longer able to connect to people through Logitech Vid or Skype. I plugged the camera into my second computer with XP and it works fine.

I have uninstalled the drivers and software from my Windows 7 machine and got new software and drivers from Logitech's site specifically for Windows 7, but it still won't work. Logitech support is worthless. They blame my connection but it works just fine on other machines.

Any help would be great!

Answer:Solved: Logitech Webcam and Windows 7 Not Working

Open Skype, go to tools>options>video settings, from the drop down menu at the top you should be able to set your webcam, if not it has not been installed correctly

What firewall, antivirus are you using. Current version of WLM?
We could also use the system specs (lower left corner) filled in so we know what hardware you have. 32bit or 64? clean install or upgrade?

I've just bought a Samsung R580 and the built-in webcam is working fine on skype and everything else except for msn messenger. When I connect on video chat with someone, I can see myself but they can't see me and I can not see them, checked my firewall settings- using Mcafee and windows live messenger has full access. I also tried it with my Logitech Quickcam, downloaded softwares too... same thing, I can see myself - webcam is working but people can't see me and I can't see them. Funny thing is it worked once briefly.

And on another chat platform, video is connecting fine but unable to connect to server. It occasionally connects briefly then logs off in 2 minutes.

Answer:Windows 7- webcam not working properly on windows live messenger

OK after spending hours trying to fix it- webcam on windows live messenger, was falling asleep and it dawned on me found the webcam in device manager, uninstalled the drivers for built-in cam then restarted the system, they got reinstalled automatically and now it is working fine!

My computer is fairly new...that's why this issue is driving me crazy! I use skype and messenger a lot because I'm currently stationed in Europe. When I first arrived everything worked great. Then, the voice went out on Skype so we started using Yahoo messenger..then the camera went out on messager...I went and bought both an external webcam and microphone and neither would work at the same time but every once in awhile one would work. Currently I can get voice on skype and that's it. Skype doesn't even give me the option of a webcam anymore and when i try with messenger it says no connection found. I'm not a computer smart person and I've tried and tried to get the camera working. I have no idea what to do about it now..I'm almost to the point of just buying another computer. I would love to be able webcam and talk at the same time!! Please help!!
