I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A technician unfortunately decided to reformat the hard drive of my Lenovo IdeaPad 100-14IBY (Windows 8.1), and in doing so apparently erased my Lenovo backup partition. Is there any way of restoring it?

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad 100 - Backup partition deleted

Yes you can one time download preinstalled OS from following Lenove site. http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/in/en/lenovorecovery?linkTrack=Body:Box:RecoveryMediaYou need to register yourself as well as need to put your mechine serial no. to create the order. Please be infromed that this process can be done only for one time for free of cost, after getting the email the OS will be available for downloading for next 24 hours to 72 hours and you will need at least 16 GB pendriver. Please cross check with customer support team regarding this. This process is to create boot media and using this bootmedia you will be actually doing factory format. So do save your data before doing this process.

I am totally disappointed in Lenovo's customer support. My lenovo 710s was bought less than 1 year ago (as of 10/6/2017, when I sent it in for repairs) and had 2 years warranty (1+1 year of extended warranty). I sent my laptop for repair due to a white spot issue on the monitor, affecting viewing of webpages and videos. However, the laptop was returned after 3 weeks without any fixes/repairs, as Lenovo claimed that it was a cosmetic issue. I wrote a message on their customer care website on 3/7/2017. However, they ignored me and there was no reply to date.  I thought Lenovo is a reliable and popular brand. However, it turned out to be a horrible decision, much to my dismay!

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 - Crashed and now won't boot past opening lenovo screen

Are you able to get into the advanced boot menu by tapping F8? It might not be listed on the startup screen but it should still be there.

If not you can burn a repair disc from any PC with Windows 7. Theres steps from Microsoft Here.

Hi, my name is Ben and i own a 2 year old Lenovo Y530 laptop with windows Vista Home Premium.Everything was working fine, when one day about a month and a half ago, i got the "blue screen of death".Better known as an error code, where your computer crashes.I then proceeded to re-install windows vista, where then it failed to install the updates, and only after a very short amount of time of actually being in the desktop of the computer, it crashed once more, giving the classic error message of it might be something new that was installed, or new hardware, when in reality i didn't install or add/remove any new equipment whatsoever.I bought this Laptop in the US 2 years ago in late 2008, and then moved to Israel. So here is the real problem, after checking the HDD for bugs, or viruses, it was fpormatted, and put back in, also following a system recovery from Lenovos one click recovery system. And found that neither the HDD, or the OS was trhe problem. So since i live in Israel, i sent it to my local Lenovo shop, where they said they do not fix these types of lenovo laptops! So how am i supposed to get to the bottom of this issue? if my local computer lenovo store does not fix my model of computer?I would like an answer ASAP because i need this computer for school and such, and the information that was lost is irrelevant, i would just like the computer to be functioning and stable again.Thank you, and much regards,Ben.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 Crashed, not working, no tech support, need expert/lenovo technician advice

To be covered by warranty, your laptop must have IWS (International Warranty Service). That's the only way to get covered. http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/UserFiles/IWS/20100909035858_62.htm Best regards.

I had a virus a few days ago. I tried to delete the virus after downloading a scanner. My laptop rebooted and had a blue screen that gave me options to fix, reset to factory, etc however the keyboard wasn't working so I couldn't put in my password. The only option without the password was to reset totally so I did. After a while another screen popped up saying there was an issue with the resetting. Long story short when I reboot only the lenovo splash comes up, F2 and F12 at the bottom of the screen, and the curser in the top left corner blinks a few times and then disappears. I can't get it to boot for nothing. I am able to plug another keyboard in but now all I get is the black screen and have no options to reset. I've read that the bios is probably the issue but have not clue how to get this set back up. Won't read usb flash. Please help.

Hello! I am new to Lenovo and picked up my 1st laptop yesterday when my HP died. I have always had HP and grew tired of how easy they break & poor battery life, so I wanted to try a different band. I love the computer, the keyboard, track pad & screen are amazing. I bought the ideapad 320-15IAP for about $330 (Including tax) The specs at the store advertised 4.5-5 Hours of battery life, but I have not been able to get a charge better than 2 hours. For someone that uses my laptop at work and on the go, this will not do. Can any one offer up any advice? Does lenovo sell stronger batteries for ideapad that I can replace with this current battery?  My next issue is the Windows 10 update that you are forced to do, I have been trying to install it since 9PM last night, it is now 9PM tonight, a full 24 hours, and it has not fully installed. I have done my fair share of google searches and many people have had these same issues too, but no good solutions outside of deep computer hacking, I don't want to have to do that on a brand new computer. Thanks for any and all help!

I have an Asus R558ur which work fast than IdeaPad 310, The quality of my Asus laptop is better than this Lenovo laptop. The Asus laptop cost me 36K and this Lenovo laptop cost me 45K. Lenovo laptop comes full of garbage apps (MC Afee), blah blah, If I run both sides by side. From now on I will never use any lenovo product and will never guide anyone to use lenovo anymore. Done! 1. Asus laptop has a keyboard and better shift key ( In Lenovo it's small).2. VS run faster on Intel 6200u based Asus then Lenovo. 3. Lenovo runs Lenovo.imcontroller and too many s** in the pc. Why the hell Lenovo not even tested the thing they ship. Did Lenovo hardware team even test the keyboard quality before shipping the product? Quality of Lenovo product is worst

Does anyone know the functions of the Lenovo Utility app? I am aware that it flashes up with an on screen symbol when the caps lock or num lock is pressed but what else can it do? I only ask as I want to disable it in order to stop the on screen notification that caps lock is on from appearing everytime I press the key. However I read somewhere that the app also handles the battery management and don't want to disable it if it will harm my pc. When I go into details in task manager it just appears as Lenovo Utility. So can I safley diable it? or will it cause an issue? Thanks

Hello, I need help on my Lenovo Companion app with it's dust removal option.

I just bought my Lenovo ideapad 700 for a week now.

Previously I had the dust removal option in the Lenovo Quick Optimizer widget on taskbar.

After I turned it on, the option never existed anymore in the quick widget and even in Lenovo Companion app itself.

Would really love to see this feature again in my new laptop.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hi everybody i hope you are all doing great. Laptop Details:Lenovo Y50-70 Laptop (Lenovo) 203784720hq512ssd960m16gb ram I made a clean install to my lenovo laptop so I lost some essential applications that came with my laptop. I installed almost all the drivers and apps at lenovo driver support download page without problems but i could not find some of lenovo apps that came in my laptop when i bought it and I really need them. The only one available in the driver download page were Lenovo energy manger. The most importants for me that i need are lenovo onekey recovery app and lenovo updates. For onekey recovery I only need the app, not the files to restore the whole partition, because the recovery partition is intact, I did not format it. So I only need the app that opens it. Th apps I want to get back are:1. Lenovo Onekey Recovery app - The one I am more interested in.2. "Lenovo Updates' (lenovo updates is the name of the app) The scond one im am more interested in.3. Lenovo Settings4. Lenovo companion If someone can guide me to where to download each of them, it would be great. I would need for windows 8.1 64 bit or windows 10. Thank You, I hope you can help me.

Answer:Where do I download Lenovo Y50 Onekey Recovery, Lenovo Settings. "Lenovo updates", Lenovo Companion?

Go to the Windows Store and do a search on "Lenovo."   You will find almost all the apps you need are available there.

Question: Lenovo Ideapad S10

Hi, I've a Ideapad S10 with One Key Rescue System 6.0. Its come preloaded with Windows XP Home. What are my options in changing the OS to either XP Pro or Vista Business? Will One Key still work - additional configuration tasks required? Also, whats the ti-ti-ti-ti sound that comes on system bootup and dies after 2/3 seconds? Regards,Edwin

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad S10

this is just my hunch. since lenovo is offering a licensed OS, the recovery button's software suite might be tied with it. installing another OS with an entirely different license set might not work. but then again, that is just a hunch. by the way, is you s10 heating up? as most people commented?or feared?i am planning to get one but i am not just sure if i have to settle with toaty hot nettie or maybe just buy a samsung nc10 if it won't emit too much heat.

Hello, since I bought my new laptop back in Dec 2016 and aside from the fact that I had to struggle a bit with the delivery process that ended up to be a non-issue, I was happy with this machine... Til about three weeks ago. Unfortunately, the return period has expired and since the whole story is not relevant here (other than just venting my frustration) I will just try to turn this into a positive experience by asking and perhaps offering advise out there. My ask is: Does any one out there know if there is a way for me to have similar functionality that an Integrated Microphone Array via an outside device or anything on this machine? The Ideapad 310 unfortunately does not come with this device which is embeded in the motherboard. Since I had bought HP laptops in the past which bring it as part of the standard build, I didn't even think (nor did I know) of finding out if this machine had this component. am looking at S10-2 2957 and S9 -17114, but other models are ok too... i need a six cell battery i need (mostly) lightweight  want cool running -- but not constant fan use... mostly for word processing, but bells and whistle are ok mostly will be composing text documents (compatible with home docs) and will be showing some pix on the road (good graphics) above all, portability and (lengthy) offline document production is key (lots of menial screen use) my understanding is that unit size is about the same for both models, but  s10 provides larger monitor for same specs what is my pick?

Set OS Optimized Defaults as disabled. Or go to the Boot tab. Set the Boot Mode to Legacy Support, then set USB Boot to Enabled"by the above mentioned method i clean installed windows 10 x64 prof by deleting all the partitions.now when i am trying to update the bios its not getting updated. i am getting error as bios is not in UEFI. in bios when i change to UEFI it stops in boot modehow to update mu bios? how to change to UEFI mode?

Answer:Lenovo ideapad 510 help

You didn't need to set the boot mode to Legacy Support, you should install it without legacy support, but install on the UEFI, so next time turn the legacy support OFF, and install the Windows on the UEFI. If you turn legacy off, it automatically should be UEFI

My father bought a Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t. Does anyone know, if the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t, can be upgraded from Win 7 Starter, to Win 7 home basic or premium? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t

The short answer is "yes".

Check out Jesse Andersen's site on the S10-3t. He's pretty much the expert on that machine.

The relevant section for you is Lenovo S10-3T: Windows 7 Starter vs Home Basic vs Home Premium vs Professional vs Enterprise vs Ultimate

I'm thinking about getting one of these, myself.

I purchased a Lenovo i305 earlier today with an Intel Pentuim processor (n3540), windows 8.1 64 bit.

I found immediately upon using the internet that the colors online were dull in images and in videos on Youtube. I played around with the gamma, contrast, saturation etc. and have found that despite this, the colors are dull, the screen seems foggy/washed out and images and videos and Netflix are grainy and pixelated (the image quality reminds me of a low quality HD TV).  In the intel graphic device, I have put the saturation up to the full 100 and whilst there's color, surely it should be intensely vibrant? I have also found that images are grainy on the Internet, including the webcam camera too. I plugged the laptop into an external monitor, the monitor showed no grain, nor dullness of color. The colors are vibrant and there is no fuzziness/grain on images.
I have also found many viruses and trojans whilst doing scans on a completely brand new laptop. The start up is also slow and the laptop lags, especially on the internet. I don't play any games or have installed any programmes yet. Is this down to the processor or is there further problems? The laptop has also struggled to boot several times.

I am wondering if this is a defective laptop I have purchased, if the screen is actually bad on the laptop I have purchased (I have heard the low quality screens have been common issue with new Lenovo laptops) ... Read more

Answer:Ideapad 305 - Is my new Lenovo defective?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of all your problems.  The simplest solution would be to just return it to the place of purchase since it is brand new for a refund or exchange.

Regarding your comment about the trojans and viruses makes me wonder if the store had sold you a system that had been previously owned and returned.  I have a variety of Lenovo products and never experienced this with a new out of the box system.

We recently (Oct. 29th, 2009) purchased (on my recommendation) a LENOVO IDEAPAD Y550 - after exactly one week of use,  a total system failure ocurred . Thelaptop was brought directly to  the LENOVO office in Turkey. We expected  for the laptop to be exchanged immediately.  This was totally refused - and after only one week of operation, this brand new laptop is now in repair.  Is this NORMAL? We are grateful for any advice on how to handle what we consider  a totally unacceptable situation.

Hi.  I'm looking to buy a netbook, and from what I can tell the Lenovo S12 is the best with it's 12 inch screen, QS OS, nVidia ION, HDMI out, 3GB RAM, and 320GB HDD.  The only problem I have is that it's just to expensive for me right now.  Is there anyway that it will drop in price after Christmas, or when the ION2 comes out? Also I have a few questions:- How do you use the "recovery button" on the keyboard?  Does the system already have a back up when it is shipped and you just have to press the button, or do you have to make your own? - If I were to go with the cheaper version with 2GB RAM and 250GB HDD, and later I wanted to upgrade to 3GB RAM then would I have to buy a 2GB stick or another 1GB? - What software comes preinstalled?

My son hit some key on my laptop that turned the screen dim and I have been unable to make it brighter. Device manager says the monitor and display drivers are up to date. The display says that the screen is at 100% brightness but brightness doesn't change when I change that. Windows 10.

Answer:Dim screen on Lenovo ideapad 500

Perhaps it would be helpful to add that on start-up it is always dim. It is not a case of starting bright and turning dim.

ok here s the problem.... I got a virus (Anti-vira antivirus, and Windows antivirus 2012) both probably the worst ones I can think of, I used Malwarebites to remove them. however now that they re gone I don't have access to half the system files I use to (namely the task manager, built in windows error scanner, and the "properties" page for My COmputer).

now normally this wouldn't be a problem as I can just use my External HD to backup all the files I want and reinstall windows, BUT this is where the real problem starts, Lenovo 1 touch recovery isn't working, and when I try to boot up from CD I get a error saying the CD drive isn't working. There are 4 options on the Boot up menu (the F12 menu when starting the comp)1 is for CD the other is normal boot and there are 2 others that I don't know the name of. is there any way to fix this laptop without paying 80$ for them just to reinstall windows vista?

and yes do have the boot disk, the Driver disk, and it is a legitimate Windows vista copy, I have not installed any "aditional" hardware exept for the External HD which is "plug and play"

almost forgot, the CD/DVD drive works fine, I was using it to burn some files after the viruses hit my laptop >_>

Hey  First I want to apologize for my bad English. Two months ago I had a problem with my computer - it freezes randomly.... When I work with Chrome, Visual Studio or Skype... but really it freezes when it wants... Sometimes I run the computer, then run Google Chrome -> Facebook and after 3 minutes computer freezes. Sound start to buzz (if there is music). Only thing what I can do is to restart the computer from power key or to remove battery. Sometimes I work on computer few hours and afrer this it freezes. So i called to Lenovo Support, they they sent my computer in Poland for service. After 10 days they called me, bacause computer doesn't have a problem. Then continued to seek and they "founded" it. In Bulgaria (I'm from Bulgaria) has added an additional part - RAM 4GB - this was broken part, and they send me the PC with bag with RAM "NO ORIGINAL PART". So the computer worked fine one week. After that it freezes again, after restart again, and after this again... I called to service again, they made alot of tests again and there was no problem.... (I reinstalled Windows 2 times and i had this problem on Windows 7 and Windows 8, also I made FULL format of the hard drive)I don't wanted to send the PC immediately, because I needed it for 2 weeks. For this two weeks, the computer do not give me problems. I can send it again to Poland, but I know - computer freezes randomly and they can't find the problem....Now my computer is ONLY with ... I have had the Y710 for about 4 months now. Here is what I think. 1) The computer is crap.2) There is a hum whenever brightness is decreased.3) The hinges are starting to squeak4) The Lenovo softare hogs to much memory5) The sound plus or minus the subwoofer is subpar to other computers. Experiencing crackling noises when playing audio. Sound driver has been updated to latest version per Realtek.6) FN + PgUp/PgDn(Home/End) keys very hard to use7) Lenovo support is non existent8) Did not come with an image of VISTA on DVD. Requested from Lenovo and received no response. Was told that without VISTA installed Lenovo will NOT look at the computer if the computer is experiencing problems.9) The drivers appear buggy. Problems with Windows XP freezing when resuming from Standby.10) When resuming from standby, screen returns to full brightness. Now onto the minor problems:1) Screen is too reflective2) Bios is buggy. Unplug the power cable and fan will turn on very loud.3) Inconsistent temperature management. Sometimes exceeds 70c without fan turning on.4) Touchpad scrollbar function self disables sometimes requiring a restart.5)  Fan sometimes make a grumbling sound such as the sound of a fan on an old power supply of a desktop. Suggestions for improvement: 1) Integegrate all Lenovo Software into a single control program.2) Fix the brightness issue so that the computer does not resume from standby at full brightness.3) Change policy for technicians to look at... Hi and welcome

the probable cause of all three crashes is NETw5s64.sys, which is part of your Intel wifi driver;
I would update the driver

also run a system file check.
type cmd in

search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow

The P/N on the keyboards are different. They look the same, but I think there may be minor differences that won't allow them to fit.

I been using the ideapad 320 for about one month plus now and today, my laptop is not turning on. I tried to unplug the charger  and press the power button for 30 seconds and putting the charger back on and try to switch it on but still no result. I cannot remove the battery as it is build in battery. The charging indicator is blinking when i insert the charger. I also tried to switch it on using the Nova button but after 3 seconds of switching on, the laptop shut down. What should i do?

I am still using Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t, with its RAM increased from initial 1 Gb to 2 Gb, and i wish to keep it like that. Currently it is run under Windows XP. When Windows 8 was released i figured out that it was not possible to upgrade cause the resolution of my netbook's screen was not supported by Windows 8. I wrote to Microsoft and they replied that that was a hardware problem and the manufacturer could have solved it through some driver development. At that time I was too busy to keep track of that development, if any. So, now Windows 10 is available. Will it run at my netbook so I could enjoy its tough screen opportunities ?
