I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi Shahed. Intel virtualization technology can be found in the BIOS settings of your pc. Just hit f10 when you boot your pc and it should be in there somewhere. -Hpestell

Hi, Rapidly tapping the ESC key after power on should get you to Startup Menu and from there you can select Computer Setup (bios). If you can't get to the Startup memu using the ESC key then you will need to take a longer route to get into the UEFI settings.  Review this procedure. The below image is reflective for the Leeds motherboard in your PC. There is not a lot of differences between the below image and that which Paul had posted.  You will need to change the Disable to Enable and then save the settings. The other changes will require Windows 8 Pro or higher and also to enable the function under Turn Windows Features On or Off.

T570 (Type 20H9,20HA)VT-x and VT-d was enabled in BIOS, but in Windows10, system still says  Intel Virtualization Technology not enabled. And VirtualBox only can create VM with 32bit. I have tried BIOS Ver 1.19 and Ver 1.21.

Answer:T570 cannot enable Intel Virtualization Technology

Hello and welcome,

Have you previously enabled Microsoft Hyper-V?  That will mask the Vt-x setting from other virtualization software.

Is there any way to enable the Intel Virtualization Technology on A100-847?
I try to run the VMWare Server to host 64 bit OS but it tells me that the CPU(T7200) VT capable but the VT is not enabled.
Is there any reason not to enable this processor feature?
The same is true for the execution bit.

Answer:How to enable the Intel Virtualization Technology on Satellite A100-847?

As far as I know ?Virtualization? option, if available, you can find in BIOS settings. I am not 100% sure but this option is not available for Satellite A100.

Like you know it depends on used CPU in the unit (Virtualization must be installed in the CPU). My Qosmio has this option on first page in BIOS settings. I am not processor expert but just to compare, my unit has Intel Core 2 Duo (Merom),Processor T7400.

Hi All,

I have a Satellite Pro P100 P/N PSPA4E-00X00HEN on which I have just installed Windows 7 RC.

I desperately need to run Virtual PC 2007 (other versions won't work) on it but it wants Assisted-Hardware Virtualization enables in the BIOS (Phoenix Technologies V4.70).

I have just updated to the latest BIOS version but it doesn't have the facility to enable AHV in it.
I have checked the processor specifications and it does have the Intel Virtualization Technology facility.

From what I have read up on the internet, although the Processor is capable the manufacturers on the computers/notebooks, in this case Toshiba, program the BIOS to their liking which will either enable or disable certain features.

What I would like to find out is, is there going to be another upgrade to enable Virtualization or is there another way to do it.

Many thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite Pro P100 - How to enable Intel Virtualization Technology

Hi

From my knowledge the usage of Virtual PC 2007 does not require a virtual technology supported by hardware (CPU).
I used Virtual PC and Virtual Machine on PC without the VT capability.

But you are right. The Intel CORE2 DUO T7400(2.16GHZ) CPU supports the VT
http://ark.intel.com/cpu.aspx?groupId=27256

Unfortunately from my knowledge the P100 BIOS does not support the option to enable/disable the VT.

There are different U500 models on the market with different hardware and virtualization is depending on BIOS and CPU. Not all Core2Duo CPUs are supporting Intel VT technology.

So before we start a long discussion what U500 model you have exactly? Can you post the exact model number please?

I have struggled for the past few days to enable Intel VT-x on my Y400 (9454-43A) laptop, a feature that I'm in dire need of to enable 64-bit virtualization and compatibility with the latest virtualization software solutions available. I am happy to share this seemingly simple step to enable VT-x on this model/series and give credit where it's due. For starters, read up on xtrondo's post here at the OpenSolaris Forums. You need to be able to follow the steps by having the mentioned tools, meaning you need to have a copy of symcmos as well as the other programs suggested. I deviated from this though as I used a FreeDOS environment on a USB FDD (drdflash.exe from bootdisk.com) and the shareware DOS text editor EDIT! - although you don't need a DOS text editor, this will be the quickest way to do it. So to cut it short, what you need to change is this token: (031B) [0000] ...and with a simple erase and replace to turn into this: (031B) [0001] ...eventually enabling you to use your previously VT-x unsupported machine into a fully compliant one. Thanks to xtrondo on this one, I just followed his hunch of changing the token after the [0005] and in the order that he suggested. I actually got this on my first "try/guess".

Is there a way to enable virtualization?

There's no option in the BIOS. I already updated to 1.40, but it still doesn't have it.

Is there any plans to add support?

The CPU has support for it, a P7350, says so in the intel site.

I'm quite disappointed about it =/. Just bought the note.

According to this Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 spec website the Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile Processor P7350 supports the Intel Virtualization Technology.

From my knowledge if the CPU supports the "Intel Virtualization Technology" then it is enabled by default.
There is no point in the BIOS to change the setting.

In the BIOS there are two options for Virtualization Technology (under CPU).  These are disabled by default.  When should these be enabled?

Answer:Intel Virtualization Technology

My understanding of these settings is they will be helpful if you're running virtual operating systems.  I.e., if from Windows you are running VMware instances of Ubuntu, or MacOS, or other Windows instances.  The chipset offers this kind of virtualization software some shortcuts, but unless you need them regularly and are a power user you can leave them off.

I recently started using Oracle VM VirtualBox to run other operating systems within Windows 7 (for running old games). For this, I have virtualization enabled in my bios (instructed to do so in the VirtualBox manual).

I also use digital multitrack recording software and hardware to create music, which I like to devote as much system resources as possible to when running (disable Internet connection, turn off firewall and anti-virus, close real-time defragmenter, etc.). Multitrack recording really pushes hard drive access, and the sound processors place heavy demand on the CPU.

My question is: Does the virtualization technology take up any resources, or slow my system down any? Would there be any benefit in disabling virtualization in the bios when I'm recording?

Thanks!
~Syn~

Hi, I have just bought a Lenovo Thinkcentre E3 Product Code 10AU003BMS and updated the BIOS. There is no option to enable Intel VT! The processor fully supports it. Is there another way to enable it or a hacked BIOS I can use? Has the option moved from CPU as I cannot find it any where else? Any help would be great. This is a business machine which needs to run hyper V so I can do Lab support work. Thanks Keith

Hey all, I just wondering, do you all have activated the " Intel Virtualization Technology" ? on ideapad ? since I can't use vmware and the root cause maybe from there. I wanna install 64-bit OS on OS guest into vmware workstation 6.04. And it's says that the host CPU is not cappable running 64-bit virtual machine. So I search the error on vmware and they say like this "Intel CPUs require EM64T and VT support in the chip and in the BIOS." Well I'm quite sure my chipset is EM64T because i using Y450 on P7550 platform, so and then I see they(vmware) write "Firmware/BIOS support is required to enable Intel Virtualization Technology. Some systems (particularly laptops) do not have the necessary firmware/BIOS support to enable Intel Virtualization Technology, and cannot run 64bit guest operating systems." So know i'm very confuse how to activate this Intel Virtualization Technology, since my BIOS only can set wireless LAN, start up, and time... LOL Are there any upgrade on Ideapad to activate this thing ? Thanks & kindly regards, George Felix

Answer:lenovo G510 Intel(R) Virtualization Technology

Hi,

A couple of things that can cause that to happen:  on most machines, it's necessary to fully cycle power (shut down, power up) after changing the VT setting in BIOS.  Also, having Hyper-V enabled in Windows Features can hide the VT status.

Hi
does anyone know if Intel VT is really supported by an M5? I have enabled it in the bios but starting a xen kernel would indicate that VT has been disabled in the bios. I updated the bios to 1.70 but still the same.

Answer:Tecra M5: Is Intel virtualization technology really supported?

Hi

As far as I know to use this technology you need additional software like Xen, VMware or Microsoft Virtual PC.
Well, most Intel CPU supports this technology.

As far as I know this CPUs use it:
Intel Core Duo: all models apart from T2300E
Intel Core Solo: Ultra Low Voltage model
Intel Core 2 Duo: all models apart from T5500
Intel Core 2 Extreme: all models
Intel Pentium 4: 6x2-models
Intel Pentium D: 9xx-models, apart from 915, 925 and 945
Intel Pentium Extreme Edition: 9xx-models
Xeon DP / MP: all models with "Paxville-MP"-core and 7xxx-series
Intel Itanium 2: "Montecito" 98 model

I'm struggling to enable VT-x on Lenovo X1 Yoga despite having executed a lot of troubleshooting steps. When I go to BIOS I see two options:- Intel (R) Virtualization Techonology- Intel (R) VT-d FeatureThe weird thing is that when I set Enabled on the first one, the Intel Processor Identification Utility and haxm_check.exe tells me I don't have VT support! If I disable "Intel (R) Virtualization Techonology" in the BIOS then the tools tell me I have VT support. Problem is, despite the tools saying it is available (but only when it is Disabled in the BIOS), the intelhaxm-android.exe setup fails with the message:"This computer meets the requirements for HAXM, but Intel Virtualization Techonology (VTx) is not turned on."The "Hyper-V Platform"  on Turn Windows features 'on or off gets greyed out too, which may indicate the VT is not enabled. I have Hyper-V disabled; Performed multiple cool shutdowns; Updated BIOS; Nothing worked.Any help would be appreciated.Thank you.  The only way to make Windows 10 recognize VT is to disable it on BIOS!!!Having it disabled on BIOS Intel tools say it is supported (otherwise it shows no support)However, it is seen as disabledAnd HAXM does not install The BIOS version is up to dateHyper-V is disabled

Hi all.

Does any Satellite Pro A300 have BIOS option to enable or disable Intel Virtualization Technology?
It is mentioned on this page: http://www.toshiba-europe.com/easyguard2008/EN/manageability.aspx

I have A300-1AM (usual Satellite, not Pro), but its T5850 doesn't have VT support, so there is no BIOS option. Just wonder what's the difference between Satellite and Satellite Pro BIOSes and can I try to use Satellite Pro A300 BIOS for my A300-1AM. Sure I'm afraid that I cannot :(

Thanks, Andy

Answer:Satellite Pro A300 - does it have BIOS for Intel Virtualization Technology?

Hallo Andy

As far as I know BIOS is not a ?universal? boot program and is adapted for specific hardware architecture. Because of that Toshiba doesn?t offer one BIOS for several notebook models.

If your notebook doesn?t have Virtualization option then there is nothing to do. BIOS update will not help at all.

I have a T60P laptop and I am trying to get Server 2008 Hyper-V installed and working on it. I set the virtualization Technology to enabled in the bios (version 2.23) and when I tried to start hyper-v it failed.  I found out that you need execute disable bit enabled also.  The problem is as soon as I enable that, it disables the virtualization technology through the software.  What I see is that they are both enabled in the bios, but the Intel Processor Identification Utility shows the virtualization techology as No.  If I disable Execute disable bit, then it shows virtualization technology as yes.   Any ideas??? Thanks  Moderator note: Type added to subject line for clarity.Message Edited by Agotthelf on 04-05-2009 07:06 PM

Not sure the best place to ask this but the past 3 days we've had users receive an unusual message at boot up. For no apparent reason, and through no initiation by the user, the BIOS start up asks "Activate virtualization technology?" With the option to either accept or reject.

While we know what virtualization technology does, we don't know what's causing this.

Our Windows machines are all 9470 / 9480 Elitebooks but they come in various configurations (ie different bios versions, a mix of W10 and W7). So far all the machines coming up with the issue are Windows 10. No data on firmware version.

Any ideas what could be causing this problem to appear out of the blue?

We aren't about to enable the technology without knowing what's causing this so we are just telling them to reject it.
Thoughts? Please advise.

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

May I know the Lenovo model that you're using (eg. IdeaPad U310 / U410 Touch)?

AFAIK, for units preloaded with Windows 8 / 8.1, these machines uses Expresscache for data caching.

Links and Guides:
- Reconfigure Expresscache
- Expresscache v1.3.110
- eccmd commands

If successful, typing eccmd -info on an elevated command prompt will give you this result:

It's been a while since the release of the Y410 and they now have the Santa rosa refresh processors. I was wondering if Lenovo will provide a bios update to be able to enable "Intel VT" support. I am currently using a y410 with T7300, 4GB ram. I believe the chipset and processor supports the use of Intel VT (hardware Virtualization) option. I use my personal laptop to run Virtual PCs. One Major reason for my choice of the y410 is that I use a ThinkCentre 8811 with Intel VT option and had a chance to use a T61p (A month with a Nvidia Quadro. =) ) again with Intel VT enabled. Note: I learned my lesson. Always check the Bios aside from the OS setup. I was pondering an XPS 1330 but ended up with the Y410 as I was able to buy a 19 LCD TV with the saved money. Still wishing a bios upgrade in sight as I don't want to think of it as a bad choice. I saw the XPS 1330 and it had an "Intel VT" option. *SOB* ='/Message Edited by jojo_b2 on 05-05-2008 02:28 AM

Answer:Lenovo 3000 Y410 enable "Intel VT" support in Bios (Hardware Virtualization)

Since no one replied to my post. I just replied to my self. lol! =) Anyway. I found good news. I just flashed my Bios due to a Critical Bios Patch posting on the Lenovo Support site. My Lenovo Y410 was on of the affected systems. After patching, I went back to work on my Virtual Server. I support Sharepoint Servers 2003-2007 and have scaled down copies on my laptop. For some unknown reason, I can now enable the "Enable Hardware Assisted Virtualization" check box on the Virtual PC 2007. Eureka! In my excitement I tried looking at the bios by restarting my PC. But in amazement there was no change on the BIOS GUI. everything was the same no option was there to enable Intel VT. I then went back to windows and checked my VPC and the check box was still there and still modifieable. I don't know who to thank be this might only be a glitch on the patch. But, Thank you! I am proud to say I can now fully utilize my laptop for Play and WORK! As I use VPCs any performance gain is a real bonus for me. =) Note:I am using a Lenovo Y410 with Model 7757-35A: Intel T7300, 4GB, 160 GB, Nvidia 8400M GS. I am not sure if Intel VT will be enabled on other Y410 models. I guess only Lenovo can answer this one. But if this is the case for the Y410 with T8300 processors and Nvidia 8600M VC. This would be another good reason to buy these systems. =) **Intel VT is only available for some T2xxx, and T7xxx series processors and above (e.g. T2300, T710... Read more

Hello All,I am new to the commuity I have a Lenovo z510 laptop with a 'ST1000lm014-sshd-8gb'  hard drive with 8GB SSD cache. It is a hybrid drive i believe. My question is , can i use the built in 8gb SSD to enable intel rapid storage or intel rapid start technology. I checked in bios and did not find any options for intel rapid start. Also i do not find 'acceleration' option in Intel rapid storate technology software for acceleration. I have no idea if my 8GB built in SSD is being utilized or not. Please help.

Answer:Enable intel rapid start technology on Lenovo Z510

hi ebinscaria

You're right, the Seagate ST1000LM014 is a hybrid drive that uses a standard HDD with a built-in 8GB NAND flash memory as a cache. Unfortunately you can't use the 8GB built-in cache to enable Intel Rapid Storage Technology or Intel Rapid Start Technology as Windows will detect the hybrid drive as a single unit. The caching algorithm is also embedded on the drive's firmware.

To know if the SSHD's cache is being utilized, you should run a benchmark and compare its advertised speed (see these benchmark tests).

In addition, as per this article, a SSHD will function as normal Hard Drive when the SSD Cache wear out (or if not being utilized), thus, you will see poor results than its advertised speed when running a benchmark test.

Upgraded to Windows 10 version 1511 build 10586.545 on Dell 15z 5523 and attempted to defragment c:/ drive (HDD). Noticed that both (c:/ - HDD & d:/ - SSD) drives were read as SSD so unable to Analyze or Defrag.
So, I attempted to install the latest drives from Intel site. Unfortunately, crashed my system. Required a new clean install.
Once new install, went to Dell site and installed SRT driver and Chipset drivers. Restart - checked bios - RAID drives and SRT enabled. Save & exit.
Went in to Cmd Prompt (Admin) - Diskprt - Clean. List Disk showed 2 drives both online with available space on both.
Went to Disk Management to initialize disk - Disk 2 setup - MBR style of partition.
Then on disk 0 (HDD) last partition chose “Shrink Volume…” from menu & shrank. Once completed, Extend Volume on disk 0 (HDD).
Ran SRT program - Enable Acceleration - selected total drive - Maximized Mode. Restart.
Finished.......but noticed the following.....

As you may have noticed, and my 2 questions - where is the 2nd drive (SSD) that is being used as cache - why is it not showing up in Device Manager, Diskpart, Disk Management and Defrag software??
Yet SRT shows everything working!!
And 2nd question why is Disk 0 type still showing as SSD??
BTW defrag last run shows a time b/c I defragged in Cmd Prompt - defrag c:/ u/v/.
Please note that I did not install Intel Rapid Start Technology b/c Intel no longer supports it & Windows 10 (Power Options... Read more

Hi,

Right now, I run dual boot with Windows XP Pro and Gentoo Linux. I'm building a new rig and I was considering going with just Windows Vista Business and all of the Linux apps running through some virtualization software. I'm no IT tech or anything just like that, just more of a hobbyist who does some biomedical research on the side with linux. Apparently all of these new Intel and AMD chips have some well advertised virtualization features, but I'm not exactly sure how well they are supported. Hopefully this isn't asking too much, but what is the current state of virtualization technology?
Regards

Answer:How far has virtualization technology gone?

3D support isn't really there yet in the most popular virtualizations software packages, but performance overall in them is pretty good. Make sure you upgrade to a processor with some kind of VT support (which most new ones include), and you'll be fine.

R7 Graphics (supports VT) , but I cant enable VT from BIOS ...It is not in System Security .... there are only two options there :1. Data Execution Prevention;2. TPM Features; The BIOS Version is E11 vA0.11I've Googled that problem but without result ...I've Googled for new BIOS version, but the latest on the net is A0.07 ... So how can I use my workstation for real work with virtual machines ? RegardsIliya

Answer:Enabling Virtualization Technology on HP 285 G2 with AMD A8 ...

That is a very good question. The AMD A8 PRO-7600B  APU does have virtualization technology as a feature. According to the Maintenance & Service Guide on page 56, that feature can be enabled in the System Security tab. The manual does say that the options are hardware dependent. I am not certain which hardware options make the features available. Maintenance & Service Guidehttps://cdn.cnetcontent.com/af/fb/affbb112-b54d-42df-acc9-b7073c138863.pdf In the manual System Security(these options are hardware dependent)NOTE: Available options are displayed depending on system configuration.Virtualization Technology (VTx/VTd) (enable/disable) - Controls the virtualization features of theprocessor. Changing this setting requires turning the computeroffand then back on. Default is disabled.Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX) (Software controlled/enable/disable)TPM Features ? I am trying to do some thing in VMWARe and they require you to go into the BIOS and Enable the Intel (R) Virtualization Technology setting.  I find the setting in the bios and I see that its disabled.  I also see that the Enter is greyed out and it will not let me access it.Does anyone know how to get this setting to work?

Answer:T60 Virtualization Technology Bios

Check if your chipset really supports Virtualization technology. I have a T61 and it can be enable over the Core 2 Duo Centrino Pro chipset enabling from Bios. Check directly your chipset ans specs in Intel page. I had a Window XP over Virtual PC and works very fine. Good luck! C'ya around. Ebert
