Pan / Zoom / Tilt, other settings not working on Integrated Webcam - Dell Webcam Central after Windows 10 updates / Alienware M17x R4

Question: Pan / Zoom / Tilt, other settings not working on Integrated Webcam - Dell Webcam Central after Windows 10 updates / Alienware M17x R4

I've owned this laptop for quite a while and had been using Webcam Central to control the Integrated Webcam on my Alienware M17x R4. I never had any issues using Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or even Windows 10 until my system updated on 8/20/2016 with a scheduled Windows 10 update.
After the windows 10 update my system restarted and the next time I went to use my webcam I noticed that I couldn't control the pan / zoom / or tilt or alter any of the settings in webcam central. If I attempt to change anything it automatically changes back instantly. For example of I move the slider to zoom, or attempt to change the pan, it auto goes back to where it was and will not allow me to change the settings.
I also notice that my mouse pointer flickers over the webcam central GUI, meaning, there seems to be some issue with the GUI after the windows 10 update, I assume is also whats causing the settings not to be changed.
I have tried uninstalling both the drivers and software and reinstalling to no avail, same problem is present after reinstallation of both drivers and the webcam central software.
Wondering if anyone else has run into this and whether there was some type of resolution.
I was able to get the pan / zoom / tilt working with 3rd party webcam software, however I would prefer to go back to using webcam central.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

---------My laptop model is Inspiron 17R 5720 and Im having the exact same problem after the Microsoft Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607: August 31, 2016 - KB3176938, done Sep 4th. I was also already running Win10 and it didnt mess with Webcam Central - till yesterday when I gave the reboot necessary to install the update files.Pan/Zoom/Position Arrows show as available to be used but if you try to use then, nothing happens and back to full zoom. Only thing it allows me to do is to change to Face Tracking.I called Dell Suport Center and for about 2 hours I ran diagnostics and tried possible solutions with the tech assistant but he wasnt very helpfull at all. All diagnostics came back with positive/OK/passed results and they offered me a paid support to fix the problem. Not exactly a good solution, is it?It was clear though MS updates messed up with the webcam driver - I checked myself at Devices/Imaging there was an update for the driver done exactly when MS updates were done. Unfortunatelly, the rollback option wasnt available. For that matter, I decided to uninstall the whole Windows KB3176938 and CAPICOM (what ever that is) updates done using Control Panel/Updates but no-go. Next step was to google for that problem which leaded me to other Dell Forum threads pointing to reinstall Webcam Central which also didnt work at all then I bumped into your threa... Read more

Recently my webcam has just stopped functioning. This laptop is brand new however and I just got it on the 14th.
I have no clue why it wont' work anymore. I checked under device manager and under Imaging devices its called "facap, FastAccess Video Capture".
I enabled it, for some reason it had become disabled, and it wouldn't work. And it seems no Driver updates are available. Also have tried reinstalling the driver but it didn't work. I then uninstalled the old driver and tried to install the driver and it failed. So I used Windows Restore Point feature thing. Now its just disabled.
Any ideas on how to fix it?

Answer:Webcam Not Working. Alienware M17X, Intergrated Webcam.

I found my solution!    Though... it kinda is a "Doh!" kinda thing.
Apparently FN+F9 will enable or disable the webcam!
It seems that I had done this inadvertently at some point and turned it off, and while messing around for a solution the other day, II tried the combo it turned back on the webcam!
Quite a powerful key combination I have to say if manually enabling the web cam and reinstalling the web cam driver don't do anything.

I have a Inspiron N4010 laptop and can't get the Camera to work. Its listed in Device manager under The Imaging etc. but I uninstall and reinstall and reboot but still not listed in All Programs. I acess the Dell website application Third Party to Reinstall but the Checkbox won't let me check=it the checkbox is a dull color. Please help

Answer:Dell Integrated Webcam (Central)

Hi Thadoctur,
Thanks for posting.
Apologies for the issue with your webcam.  Have you been able to determine if the camera works at all?  If not, please use this program: http://download.cnet.com/WebcamViewer/3000-12510_4-75324168.html
If you are able to see your camera, then it's not a hardware issue, but rather a software issue.  You would need to check the settings in the software you are using and maybe reinstall it.  If the camera is not working at all, then if you are under warranty contact Tech Support.  If you are out of warranty, you can contact our Out of Warranty department to purchase additional warranty, or get it fixed at a local repair shop.
Contact me privately if you need additional assistance.  Thanks.
Regards,Robert

I like my netbook alot but thanks to this design error about camera placement it bothers me a lot when using video chat apps where I have to slightly adjust the netbook in an ankward positon to the left then the image is just not right. Its unusable in using chatroulette for example. Its even worse when you use it in portrait mode. Youre either upside down or laying on left or right side. Please make an update to the software to get the pan/tilt, flip, rotate and zoom on the webcam! UPDATE! I took apart the pinhole covering the webcam and tilted it as far left as possible using a very fine flathead screwdriver. Now it is in perfect focus without having to shift the whole computer. Only downside is you cant use the webcam cover anymore. You could if you can scratch off the black border without scratching the plastic otherwise its not that of a big deal without it.  Hope this helps everyone with the same problem.

Inspiron 1525 Integrated WebCam not working in Windows 7 64-bit.  I have tried reloading drivers and software. Uninstalled and re-installed multiple times. Making sure that WIA is turned on in services. Tried compatibility mode. Downloaded various driver versions from Creative's website and from Dell. Re-installed the A16 bios upgrade (as suggested by Dell). I used msconfig to make sure that no other applications were started or running. Uninstalled Live Messenger. Device Manager recognizes the camera and says that it is working properly. Despite all of that I still get the message "Camera is not available. Please make sure it is not in use by another program" when using the Dell Web Cam application or Live Messenger. When trying to acquire image with ArcSoft or HP Photo suite I get "Camera is unavailable" as well.  Even in Safemode with all drivers disabled I get the same message. I used the camera just before doing the clean install of Windows 7 64-bit so I know that it is not a hardware issue, but it does appear that there is some type of hardware incompatibility issue with "7". Any ideas? Possible OS settings I'm missing?

Hey guys i'm new to this forum and I'm not sure if i'm posting in the right section.

Anyways,here are the specs .

Code:
OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Version 6.1.7600 Build 7600
Other OS Description Not Available
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Name FAMILY-PC
System Manufacturer Dell Inc.
System Model Inspiron N7010
System Type x64-based PC
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M 380 @ 2.53GHz, 2533 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)

So I bought this laptop about 2 or 3 years ago and the webcam was working fine till about 8 months ago.I don't know why but I somehow screwed up Dell Webcam Central by deleting some stuff from it without a proper removal installation and now whenever I try to install it,there's a message saying I got a newer version in my PC still and I tried uninstalling and removing everything related to it.I'm not sure but I think there is some kind of registry still in my laptop.I think this problem relates to my integrated Webcam not working, because when I go to a video chat website or skype the Webcam light would turn on for about a second and then turns off again. And when I try to open Webcam Central It doesn't even open and there is a Webcam Central icon in my taskbar.

I tried downloading and updating the drivers but no solution.

Thanks.

I have Dell Inspiron 5558, running on Windows 10 64 bit, version 1703 with 8GB RAM
The integrated webcam simply would not work nor the in-built mic.
When I raised the issue with Dell, they have tried to troubleshoot. Dell diagnostics F12 could not detect any issue.
They have changed the webcam and cable and it was still not working.
They changed the Motherboard and again no luck.
They asked me to reset the system to factory and I did. Now, the Webcam is not there in the Device manager.
In fact, the Imaging Device is not listed there. I have checked under hidden devices and still it was not there. Now they are asking me to take it to the service center for a checkup.
They can't figure out. I am sort of feel that it is a problem related to OS, but I am not sure.
Can one anyone tell me exactly what is the issue? All my drivers are upto date. Believe me, I have done every troubleshoot under the sun!
Your help will be most appreciated.

Although the subject line indicates a software title I believe this is a hardware issue. My problem is, I have 2 identical laptops (Dell Inspiron 1545) that came with Windows Vista. On one of laptops in the Dell webcam central software the gamma setting can be changed in increments of 10, on the other laptop it only changes in increments of 100 & the picture quality is not very good. I recently reloaded both laptops with Windows 7 and I reinstalled webcam central from the disc that came with the laptop where the cam works well. I still have the same issue with the cam.
They are still under warranty but upon chatting with Dell they said they could not help me because the laptops have been reloaded with windows 7. I firmly believe this is a hardware issue. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

I currently have 2 PCs connected to one Dell webcam monitor via a KVM switch. My older PC is a Dell Vista with the Dell webcam Central program that came pre-installed and still works perfectly fine. My newer PC is an HP that came with the free upgrade to Windows 10 which I have done. I really like the Dell webcam monitor, but my dilemma is when I switch over to the HP PC, it doesn't recognize the camera or mic on the monitor. I have tried to transfer the webcam central folder to the new PC and install there, but it won't install or work. Do you think it has to be on a Dell PC to work? Or do you think it's a Windows 10 compatibility issue? Any suggestions?

I have a Dell Studio 1747 laptop with Windows 7.
I had to delete all my partitions and re-install Windows due to a virus, now I am trying to re-install Dell Webcam Central and it won't let me. I updated 2 drivers that were available on dell.com and tried using different links to install it.
Everytime I try to download it I get the same message:
Setup could not detect any Dell Webcam Central on your system.
Please ensure that your Dell Webcam Central is properly installed before running this setup program.
I know it is not installed because that is what I am trying to do, what am I doing wrong?

A few weeks ago my dell laptop crashed because of a power failure and I had to have my hard drive replaced and my OS re-installed. So I lost most of my basic utilities and applications. I think I managed to get most of my drivers back (not sure) but I can't seem to get my webcam working (using skype or otherwise). I've tried to install the Dell Webcam Central but it keeps throwing me an error saying Live! Avatar Creator is not detected. I don't understand. Why do I need Live! Avatar Creator in order to install Dell Webcam Central? I didn't have it before. Someone please help. I've tried the online Dell drivers support but nothing has worked so far. Help!

Answer:I can't install Dell Webcam Central

Hi

What model Dell do you have and a Service Tag code helps to find any drivers you may need at Dell HERE

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using?

The Live! avatar creator is likely due to the webcam in some Dells being from Creative and its a component, some info HERE

Also check Device Manager for any yellow ! marks by any devices and let us know what they are?

Do make sure your Windows version is upto date also.

I would have put this in Software & Hardware / Digital Photography & Imaging - Multimedia or All Other Software but I am trying to alter the registry/configuration so I believe in here is better placed.

In my "wifey's" laptop (XPS 17) the Dell Webcam Central while useful is limited to a meager 3 second timer. This is a Huge drawback of the software. She always complains about how hard it is to snap shots for me when travelling because of the lack of time to take a picture. I have searched the web on a few occasions for software that works on Windows 7 that includes an adjustable timer. I have probably tried 5 programs and while most don't work (and don't allow me to ever install/run it to even get to the point of running in XP compatibility mode) the ones that do aren't a breeze to figure out how to set it.

I came here because I was hoping someone who knows how to adjust/alter programming could tell me how to simply change that 3 to a 10 or 15. I have searched the registry and see no such setting for this so I believe it is actually in the config somewhere but have no idea how to proceed. Some people are good at making minor adjustments to software like this.

Otherwise, can anyone recommend a more suitable alternative? Avacam is the best thing I found but I do not see the option for timer/interval capture. Consider me a webcam n00b.

I'm not sure where to post exactly so let's try this out.  I have the Studio 1737 running Vista 64. It came with Dell Webcam Central preinstalled and in that program there is a tab for audio effects to use during video chats (I used it during Skype calls). However, my HD crashed and Dell sent me a new HD. I installed Vista on it and all of the drivers/applications from the disks that came with the laptop.  Now, Webcam Central does not have the tab for audio effects anymore...and I can find no information anywhere about this program such as what the latest version is, where to download from, etc.  Creative customer service points me to Dell, and Dell had me download Webcam Manager-which by the way is not supported for my system- so I figured they know something I don't. So after the 140 mb download and install, I open it and - big surprise- it tells me to install the correct drivers for my webcam. I already have the cam working in everything else, so I'm not about to mess with all that when it clearly says Webcam Manager is for the Inspiron.  Anyway, I'm just baffled at why Webcam Central is now missing a menu option and I'm getting pretty frustrated not being able to find out ANY info about the cause.   BTW, Webcam Central is v1.01.05.  I've tried reinstalling from the disk and still no change.  Also, the My Dell Downloads site doesn't work for my system, so I'm completely lost now.  Any help at ... Answer:Studio 1737 & Dell Webcam Central

Malcom0,

To install the version of the webcam you're looking for, go to Drivers & Downloads, enter your service tag number. Look under input devices and download the Creative labs drivers. This will have what you're looking for. My version is 1.01.05 and has the tab.

Second problem...

To use the Dell download manager you must have the Windows .net framework installed (use Windows update).  Though it's not made clear by Dell, you DO NOT need the manager.  Go into your browser settings and delete all Dell cookies (or clear all your browser cache).  Then go back and choose "download using my browser" when you select the file for download.  You will then not need the Dell download manager at all.

If you have recently purchased the system, and assuming it came with windows 10. The camera app in the startmenu is a replacement to the webcam central, unless specified in the purchase order. Though the Native windows app may not have all the functions of the webcam central, it is the native app in windows 10

I've already been to the Dell articles, but need to double-check that this is going to work. I did a repair reinstall of Win 10 with in-place upgrade, keeping Windows.old. No problems. I need to reinstall the Dell Webcam Central software. Instructions for Windows 10 are to go to device manager and uninstall Integrated Webcam. Once I restart, Windows should install drivers. However, I also read that webcam central doesn't work with Windows 10, and use Skype instead. Before I did the repair reinstall my webcam worked fine with Dell Webcam Central with Windows 10.

I need a confirmation this is how it will go before I go uninstalling the Integrated Webcam - don't want to cause any more problems for myself.

Thanks in advance! barb

The DELL webcam central is not working...it is not taking pictures or recording videos. The last time I was successfully able to record a video was Friday, September 2. I tried using the webcam central today and no luck. The webcam central records no audio and no video.
There has been a major software update from Microsoft and/or DELL within the past few days. Not sure if that's what is causing the problems.
Can anyone offer any suggestions or advice to get the DELL webcam central software working again?

Answer:Dell webcam central not taking pictures or recording videos

Always include your model computer and operating system when posting a question. Also mention what program you are using to record video or take pictures.

Anyone know how to get Dell's Integrated webcam to work? I have drivers install apparently (according to device manager), yet I'm unable to access the webcam.

Any ideas I'm open to trying!

Thought I would add this screen shot as well. Hoping someone knows how to fix this!

I would like to point out that I do have the driver installed for the camera, but I can not load the camera with Dell's software, but if I go to website like chatroulette then the camera loads.

Answer:Cannot find settings for Integrated Webcam - Satellite C660D

Hi Emma

If you use original preinstalled OS this should be shown. By default ?Web camera Application? starts with OS. What you can try is to start it manually.

Start > All Programs > Toshiba > Utilities Web Camera Application.

Please try to start it on this way.

I have a Windows 7, Dell Inspiron N1410 laptop with integrated webcam. While talking on Skype, the user at the other end suddenly stopped receiving my image. Skype had turned "My video" off. Whenever I tried to start my video up on skype, the webcam light would turn on for just a second, then it stopped again.

I tried restarting, doing a system restore, uninstalling webcam drivers and reinstalling them from the CD, then uninstalling the Dell Webcam Central and reinstalling it from the CD, nothing worked.

In the Webcam properties, it says "Device is working properly." And now when I'm opening up Dell Webcam Central, there's a message "Please connect a suitable device."

I contacted Dell, and my product is beyond warrantly. They advised I try a system reformat. But is there any way to get the webcam working again without a reformat?

After much shopping around, we had settled on getting a Dell Studio 15 laptop for our 13 year old. One problem... it seems you cannot order this from Dell WITHOUT the integrated webcam. Really disappointed that Dell won't let you deselect the integrated webcam option when configuring a system using their online shopping. I even called their 800 number but the sales representative could not offer this laptop without that option. Ridiculous! Personally, I don't think it's a good idea for a young teen to have a webcam... too much chance for mischief or lapse in better judgment. But everything else about this laptop fits the bill for what we want. Dell support not helpful in resolving this delema (maybe this is a sign that I should shop elsewhere... but that's another question).
Is there a simple way to disable the integrated webcam, short of physically destroying it? e.g. a coworker told me to put a bead of opaque epoxy across it, but I would be reluctant to irreversibly damage the unit.
Forgive me if a similar question is addressed in a previous thread, but I can't seem to use the forum search tool to be based on ALL key words and if I put in a bunch of key words to try to narrow down the search, it seems to flag all strings that contain any of the words. That brings up too many to browse through, hoping to find something helpful.
In case it matters, the new laptop would be set up with Vista Premium.
Thanks,
HMS

Hi there,

I had some work done on my laptop (several pieces of hardware were replaced) this week.

It is a:
Dell Studio 1555, Intel Core 2 Duo, T6500 @ 2.10GHz 2.10GHz, 4.0 GB ram, Vista (sp2) 64-bit

The tech had to unplug the integrated webcam to replace something. When he plugged it back in, my laptop did not recognize it. It recognized that something was there - and installed it!! - but the cam doesn't work and I can't find it in my list of devices. The webcam is the original. Nothing was done with any software/drivers; the thing was merely unplugged.

The tech recognized that this had happened because he had seen it happen once before, so he called Dell. Dell told him to have me call them and they would help me download the right driver for it. I did chat instead of calling (not sure if it makes a diff) and they said they had no driver for this webcam. ??? But even if they did, would that even help since this device doesn't show up in my list?

Help, please! We need the vid. chat feature to be able to be able to see overseas family.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Dell Integrated Webcam connected but not recognized

I think I found the device. In the USB section in the device manager, there is an unknown device.

TIA for any help you might be able to offer, since Dell seems to be clueless about it.

There must be some preinstalled webcam software in there supplied by Dell.
I would check in your Programs. It might be Dell Webcam Central. The Inspirons had that, can only assume it would be similar to the Vostros.

Were you using something like 3G USB dongle which you recently uninstalled from your laptop?Uninstall all items under Universal Serial Bus controller by right clicking each item and select uninstall from the menu. Also do same for the webcam. Reboot the laptop. If windows 7 came pre-installed with your laptop, did it also have HP updater installed? Because that updater BIOS and drivers. If you have the laptop motherboard CD, you can check by installing the driver version from the CD.

Please read thoroughly before you reply.
The webcam problem is strange.
Can one anyone tell me exactly what is the issue? All my drivers are upto date. believe me, I have done every troubleshoot under the sun!
Your help will be most appreciated.

First and most obvious is a driver issue. Please go into device manager and look to see if you webcam driver is installed and working
Please go to start>search>type device manager.
Are there any "unknown devices" with yellow triangles on them?
Is you driver there , listed, and working?

If y our driver is missing, or there is a yellow triangle on it, you will need to update it.

Let us know if you need further assistance

Hello all, I hope this thread is posted in the correct place. If not, mods please feel free to move accordingly. I've got a newish HP notebook and I frequently use skype for voice and video chatting with friends and family; however, It recently has stopped working for no apparent reason. I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but I did notice that the webcam stopped working after I updated skype recently. The microphone also now works intermittently.. If I initiate a call with skype, my microphone will not work, but if I make a test call to the echo test service it works, and then works subsequently on my call afterwards. If I go to initiate any type of video exchange, a picture of youcam displays as my webcam image asking to start my webcam as seen here in this picture from my skype webcam settings

This also shows when trying to use my webcam on chatroulette, omegle, etc.

Here, when I start the youcam program itself I get this error message

If I go to tools and settings in the youcam program (which I can only access when I start the program via skype?) I click the dropdown menu to select my webcam device but no options show.

Here is a picture of my device manager, which suddenly displays no evidence of the hardware, even after scanning for hardware changes.
I spent 45 minutes on the phone with someone from HP support and got no where. They tried to remote connect to my computer using some sort of HP support software instead of windows remote connect. ... Read more

Hello,

I recently did a system restore of my HP G60-125nr. I checked the webcam to see if it is still functioning via "CyberLink YouCam" and it says "Cannot connect to this video device(USB Camera)". The cam was working perfectly fine before the system restore.

One thing I noticed, it's not a USB Device, so why is it being recognized as this? It is integrated not hooked to a USB Hub. I'm guessing this is the way it is supposed to be?

In addition, I've been reading every topic across the net that has different solutions to fix the problem. NONE have worked. I reinstalled/updated drivers, installed service packs, updated BIOS information, NOTHING WILL WORK! I'm very frustrated with it.

Anyone have any suggestions? I have an HP G60-125nr with Windows Vista 32-Bit OS. Any help would be amazing, as I'm about to rip the lid off my computer and smash this tiny integrated webcam. Thanks!!

My webcam is not working. It was working fine 3 months ago. When I try to start it, nothing happens....no error codes or anything. It just doesn't work. I've been to the Dell Product Support site to try and download factory installed software (using IE b/c it wouldn't work with Mozilla) and it tells me my service tag is not supported so I can't download factory installed software. I've gone to device manager and it shows up there. It shows up under my program files. I checked it for updates and it says it is up to date. grrrrr...

So all night i have been up trying to fix it with various solutions on google. I have tried installing driver after driver and nothing helped. After all the different methods nothing has worked and i think i made it worse. The webcam no longer appears in the "Device Manager." What on earth do i do now?

Hi,

I hope someone can help me.

My integrated webcam on my Toshiba Satellite R630 spontaneously stopped working in the last couple of weeks.

I have tried:

- Checking whether it is activated in BIOS and there's no option to select a webcam here.
- Restoring my laptop to an earlier state when the camera was working. This didn't work either.
- Updating the webcam driver - this installs the driver but then it disappears and nothing happens.

A few things that it might help to know:

- In Device Manager, 'imaging devices' is missing, so I cannot find the webcam driver here.
- I used to get a pop-up every time I turned on my laptop that was trying to load a bluetooth webcam but saying it couldn't. This has stopped happening; i think i turned it off in msconfig.
- It's not a hardware issue
- Yesterday I had a weird breakthrough moment - I'd downloaded an app to my phone to try and use it as a webcam via bluetooth. I'd turned on bluetooth on my phone and laptop. I plugged in my phone to my laptop and the bluetooth camera pop-up (see previous point) came up, but this time worked without the error message. However, instead of my phone working as a webcam, the blue light came on next to my integrated webcam and that started working. I thought it was fixed so closed everything and ejected my phone and the webcam stopped working again. I've tried to repeat this sequence but with no joy.

I'm out of ideas and really frustrated. Can anyone help?

Answer:Satellite R630 - integrated webcam not working

Hi

If imagine device isn?t listed in device manager, then this means that the module could not be found. Even if the driver would not be installed, the module should be listed in BIOS as imagine device, unknown device, etc?
But this isn?t the case?

So I think there are two possibilities: the module is fault or the connection between the module and the motherboard (controller) isn?t established.

As far as I know the internal webcam module is connected to the USB controller.
If the connection drops (loose cable) the module will not be recognized in device manager?

So from my point of few it must be some hardware related issue?

Dear all,

the integrated webcam on my Satellite T130 isn't working.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium and already re-installed the 64bit webcam drivers through this website. Nevertheless, when I click on the webcam application, simply nothing happens - program doesn't open at all or shutdowns instantly. Skype also doesn't recognize a cam. Also, there is no webcam in the device manager (one undetected USB device though) and no cam symbol in the Toshiba quicklaunch ribbon, which is how the camera is started according to the "manual".

Anybody got an idea of what the problem is? Seems like a common problem according to Google, but no suggestions other than reinstalling drivers. Maybe some other application blocking the camera? Firewall settings?

I'd appreciate any support, thanks.

Regards Florian

Answer:Integrated webcam on my Satellite T130 isn't working

>one undetected USB device though

This might be the webcam since the webcam is connected to the internal USB controller on motherboard.

It looks like a webcam driver is not installed properly.
Try the webcam driver released for the satellite t230 or other Satellite series.
The versions are newer?

Furthermore recommend checking the BIOS settings.
In some cases the BIOS contain an webcam option where the webcam can be enabled and disabled.

Hello,I have a Thinkpad X200 and am using Windows Vista. My webcam was working just fine, but then all of a sudden it was no longer being detected. I've tried re-installing the drivers and that hasn't worked. Funny thing is, a week ago the day my warranty expired I called to get the problem fixed. The guy remotely accessed my computer and I was paying attention for the most part - all it seemed like he did was turn on the camera center and repair the driver.. and it worked! But here I am, a week later (I never checked the webcam since I saw it work) and my webcam no longer works. I tried doing what I thought he did, but it didn't work.Any ideas?!

Answer:X200 Integrated Webcam not Working/Detecting

hey moey,go to the device manager, uninstall the camera driver, disable the camera. restart the unit.back to device manager, enable camera. since this is vista, i'm not certain if it has built-in generic drivers; if it has, then vista will install generic webcam drivers.once that is done, test the camera again.do try the camera drivers that is available at http://support.lenovo.com

Hi, Just bought the Y500 that comes with the GT750M on it and found out that the webcam is not working at all. Patched the system with the latest win8 updates from Microsoft as well as latest Webcam's driver from Lenovo but nothing seems to work.Webcam or Imaging Device was not been listed under the Device Manager(Far left of the image below), however when going thru the Driverguide detection software, the site/program actually detected the webcam(hardware wise) but it was been placed along side with the Card Reader under a category  called => "UNPLUGGED"(Far right of the image below)For the card reader, I can understand that why it was been placed under the "unplugged:" category as it will only be activated or switch to "Plugged" mode when you insert a SD/MC Card into the reader. But as for the Webcam, I have no method/ways to trigger or switch on the camera thru the use of either Hotkeys or  via software integration.   Would appreciate if anyone here in the forum can provide me with some assistance on the webcam issue. Thanks

I know the topic heading isn't detailed so here goes:
I've had this laptop for about 9 years now and finally upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate N (laptop was factory shipped with Windows Vista).  Prior to the upgrade all systems fully ran and the only reason why I upgraded was because the system was running slow and after reading a few forums I decided it was time to get with the rest of the world (I was still using Internet Explorer).
Windows 7 Ultimate N is downloaded and running, I've even optimized a few performance features and it's almost like a new laptop still a little sluggish but manageable.  I noticed within the "Windows Updates" however that 3 drivers under "Other Devices" would not update so I went to investigate.
After attempting to look online for a solution of getting these drives I gave up, but it got me to thinking if there were any other unnoticed faults on the laptop.  The first I found was the microphone.  It was detected in the Device Manager and enabled but it was not working; this was checking through the "Sounds" and "Recording" feature.  Did a lot of digging through videos and forums online and finally found that the original driver for the laptop being Sigma Tel wasn't updated even though "Windows Updates" said it was.  While reading one forum stated that the microphone and integrated webcam are connected so I checked it as well.  Though "Windows... I?ve got a U400 too and I?m using the internal webcam with the Skype.
It?s working perfectly!

But my software does not load automatically. I have disabled it in the msconfig.
The software doesn?t need to be loaded automatically in order to se it in MSM or Skype.
So I would recommend disabling the automatical startup.

Computer: Toshiba Satellite L830-10N
Platform: Windows 7

Hi guys,
I am having problems with my integraed microphone and also the webcam. Suddenly out of nowhere, it didn't want to work. I have tried to restore the system from a previous point where I knew it worked, I installed several anti-virus programs to clean the computer just in case of viruses and still nothing.

The Sound Recorder was also checked but when I try to record, an error message comes up and says "An audio recording device cannot be found."

I have also tried going to the Control Panel > Sound > Recording, but a message says that can not recognize anything.

Also, the system tels me that I have a problem with the WD SES driver, which seriously, i have no idea what it is but just in case it could be related.

It has been working before without any problem and I have not dowload or do some kind of suspicious action, but now it won't work.

I have checked previous answers related with the topic but none of them work for me.

Thank you so much.

I recently bought a Lenovo Ideapad S300 running Windows 8 and initially had difficulty in getting it to update but, with help from several websites, managed to resolve this problem. However, I never managed to get the integrated webcam to work. The application would launch but the camera screen is blank. Device Manager advises that the device is working properly and the drivers are up-to-date. Incidently, this particular notebook does not have the hotkey (F9) to switch the integrated camera on/off but, I understand, on later versions Fn+Esc is supposed to perform the same function; it does not. The system has two associated programs, Lenovo EasyCamera and Lenovo YouCam.

More recently I have updated to Windows 8.1 but the integrated webcam still does not work. Can anyone please advise what I might be doing wrong or what I could do to get the webcam to work. I'm a bit of a newbie, particularly as far as Windows 8 is concerned. Regards.

Answer:Integrated Webcam on Lenovo Ideapad S300 not working.

Have you tried re-installing the webcam driver? I have a Lenovo at home and mine was ok when I upgraded, but I removed all the Lenovo drivers for the webcam. (As I hate all the rubbish companies put onto new equipment)

Also when you run the camera app does it detect a camera? Usually Windows 8 will ask for a camera to be plugged in. If it shows a blank image does the white light next to the lens turn on?

I've bought HP Pavilion dv6-6c 16nr laptop 2 months back and the webcam was working perfectly. Try plugging in a webcam into your computer now. If you are using an integrated camera, make sure that it is turned on."
Because it was working fine just one day ago so I think it might be some windows or other application update which has caused the problem but havn't found any solution yet. Please give some solution.

I am using a video surveillance program (webcamXP), and I would like to use both my integrated webcam (laptop) AND my logitech webcam (C310) as sources; however, it looks like my integrated webcam is not accessible when I plug in the UBS webcam. From the program's perspective, there is only one source which corresponds to whatever webcam is available (integrated webcam when USB is unplugged, and vise versa).

I would expect both sources to be available. I'm thinking somehow the computer is seeing the USB webcam and just overriding the integrated webcam. Is there anything I can do to verify this and/or change it to make both available?

It's totally possible that it could be the program, but I was unable to find any settings to get it working.

I'm running Windows 7.

Answer:Dell Studio 1537 Laptop(Vista) w/ Integrated Webcam Problems? Driver?

Your second problem mentioned maybe the cause of your webcam problems. If your Device Manager does not show a device with a problem (exclamation mark) under Imaging Devices or you have no such category at all, then your integrated webcam is not being detected as conected to the computer. The integrated webcam is in fact an internal USB device, so the sound of USB connecting or disconecting when you move the computer might be the source of all your problems. It is rare but the internal connection might be loose or the cable runing form the LCD top section to the bottom where the connection is on the mainboard damaged, causing your webcam not to appear.
Attempts to reinstall a driver will be useless if the device is not listed in Device Manager to start with. If  you get the device to appear on the Device Manager and have a driver issue, please attempt to download and install the original dirver from the link below. Windows Update will show an updated driver available for Creative Laptop Integrated Webcam if you check for updates manually in Vista, I recommend not to install this "updated" driver, it does not work properly.
Download original Creative Laptop Integrated Webcam from here:

In Device Manager, under Monitors, it shows Dell S2340T (HDMI), but does not show anything under videos. I updated my Windows from XP to 7 as it crashed and now Ive updated it to Windows 10, and I think I lost all the drivers then.

Hi there.

I have a Toshiba QOSMIO X500-10W PQX33E-00R00CIT.

When I format my laptop and reinstall the operating system Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, the webcam works perfectly.
After I update windows through windows update the webcam stops working. Also with Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB. What I have to do? Thanks.

P.S.
I think is just a software problema and not hardware. The webcam works perfectly until I do the windows updates! "****" Microsoft!
