Preferred Solution: lenovo ideapad 100 15ibd bios update issues

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,I have cloned the old 1TB HDD that came in this laptop, to a new Samsung SSD 850 Pro.I have installed the drive, and it won't boot. Before trying all the usual cloning issues, drivers etc, I went into the BIOS, and the BIOS is not seeing the SSD.I updated the BIOS to the latest version, and still nothing.I have installed the SSD in another laptop, and its fine, I have put it in a caddy and onto this laptop with the original disk booted, and it sees the disk - it just doesn't like the SSD installed on the sata port.Does this version of the BIOS not support SSDs? Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello Lenovo community.I have purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 100-15ibd with :- Intel Core i5 5200u 2.7 gHz- 4 GB RAM- nVidia 920mI have already upgraded from 4 to 8 GB of RAM ( which is the highest value supported by this processor ) and now i want to upgrade 2 more things. 1. Buy a SSD.2. Install an eGPU.I want to install GTX 1050 TI 4GB and 128 bit on this laptop but i was not sure if this will work as good as i was thinking.I want to know if the GTX 1050 TI 4GB 128 bit is supported by this laptop and if i can install it with that eGPU adapter which is placed in the Wi Fi place. Not thunderbolt. Should i do this upgrade? If i shouldn't upgrade to this graphic card, there is another model better for my laptop ? Thank you!

I was wondering if anyone has upgraded or swapped out their hdd for a solid state drive on the Ideapad 305 15IBD? My specific model number is 80NJ00F5UK, I have been able to find an mSata ssd drive which says its compatible with the 305 IBD, but not the exact model number above.  To be honest Im pretty happy with the performance of the 1TB hdd that i have but just want to confirm whether its possible or not to swap out for an ssd if I wanted to in the future.  The main reason would be to squeeze a bit more battery life, as its one area where the laptop is a bit weak. mSata SSDhttps://www.ipc-computer.eu/notebook-spareparts/lenovo/300-serie/ideapad-305-15ibd-80nj005j/hdd-12

Hi! Does this laptop model with InsydeH20 rev 5.0, Lenovo BIOS version EOCN61WW BIOS have any hidden options in it? I can't run some games with it to it's full potential, because the PL1 power limit it locked and set too low so it throttles if I don't cap my fps. I already undervolted it to get the powers down a little bit, but it didn't make enough difference. So I'd like to increase the power limit if it is possible somehow. I found some discussion on the case in point with other laptop models, but I'd like to know if it's possible with this specific device, before in dwell deeper into the matter. From what I gathered, I should tweak the EFI partiton variables with a Linux system for example. Am I on the right path here? You don't have to warn me about the riskyness, I know it and I have some experience in tweaking devices like this, not a guru though. E: I found out that I need some additional hardware to modify the BIOS (SPI Programmer and a SOIC clip). Do you have any other suggestions on what to do to stop the throttling?

Your macine does not match with this BIOS." - BIOS"No appropriate driver to be installed" - LAN Driver"NVIDIA Installer cannot continue. Had the same problem. Tried to install Win7 in  hope of making the HDMI output project my screen on external monitor, but gave up as got the same error messages as you did. Then installed Win 8.1 and made the external screen work...for about 5 minutes. Then installed Win 10 but external screen still ot working, tried at least 4 different VGA drivers, updated BIOS, etc. My conclusion is that there are serious driver issues with this laptop, Win 7 do not even bother trying.  Try Win 8.1 or 10 and let me know if you can use HDMI to project screen ,and the driver version you use! Thanks

Hi there, Somewhere 3 months ago, I bought the new laptop (which came with Linux installed on it) and then I set up the BIOS password and now I can't remember it. So, I can't enter into the BIOS setup and can't change the boot priority that I need in order to boot from either the Windows 10 intstallation CD/DVD or the installation Flash Drive. Any suggestions plz? My notebook in detail is: Lenovo Ideapad 100 15IBD (80QQ012CUA)/179698. I thought you may know some default password for this BIOS build. I don't want to open the notebook as it's too new for that  Thank you

Just purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 100-15id yesterday for simple work and a little gaming, but when I try to play games on it the framerate sporadically plummets even on the lowest settings.  I have tried updating the drivers, changed the in game settings, adjusted my power settings for best performance, and even changed performance settings, but nothing has changed. The games ran very well on my old computer.  I am running Windows 10 and my system is as  follows:Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-5200U CPU @2.20GHz 2.20GHzRAM: 4GBSystem Type: 64 bit Operating System, x64-based processor Any and all help would be appreciated.  Thank you Edit: Apparently it also can't play a youtube video without the same problems along with the audio being affected.

Hi Snafu,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

As per your information, you can upgrade your GPU to NVidia 920 with 2GB memory & 8GB DDR3L for better performance.

Secondly, if the YouTube is not working in your system, you must make it a point to check whether the Flash Player is enabled. Also, Disable ActiveX filtering & Update the browsers.

If you are using IE, settings->internet options->advanced->  Select: "Use Software rendering instead of GPU rendering"

Hope this helps. Please let me know your findings.

Shashi

Hello All, I have a problem with my new Ideapad 100-15IBD that I received today. Wireless or Ethernet connection is horribly slow - I have 50Mb/s connection and laptop is using 4-5Mb/s max (just to mention even Chrome download takes about an hour with this connection speed/quality). I have it with W10, but also formatted and installed W7 to check, if maybe it's faulty Realtek drivers (I tried both from Lenovo Support website and Realtek ones). On both versions of Windows the problem occurs. I am now back to W10, so it's as fresh as it gets. I tried different settings of Network Card, tried looking through forums about similar problems, but can't find anything, so I was wondering if anyone, preferably Support Team, has any tips or ideas why it's like this. The Network adapters I see are:Bluetooth devices x2 (not important for me at this point I believe)Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller (tried meddling with this one, now working on default as it's fresh installation)Realted RTL8723BE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NICI of course got it from retail, it's brand new, so I do not see how it could be broken already (talking about network adapter), so I thought that it's maybe software problem? Also - I noticed it's working even worse on 802.11n only than mixed. Thanks for any tips,c. PS. Sorry for my English, I'm not native speaker (Polish).

My Yoga 500 ideapad totally loses it when I plug it into power. The CPU slows down imidiately and runs at 100% usage every time I make an action (opens Chrome takes like 30 seconds). In Speccy, I can see, that the CPU runs at a speed of approx. 500 Mhz (Core speed). If I unplug the laptop, the speed goes up to like 1,9 Ghz when I opens chrome (chrome opens instantly) and CPU usage maxes out at 40% or so. I can now close Chrome, plug in the laptop once again, and if I open chrome now,it maxes out at 500 Mhz speed with 100% CPU usage. I have just completely reinstalled windows (10, 64 bit) hoping that this would solve the problem. But it haven'tI have downloaded ALL the drivers and software possible from Lenovos own support page for my laptop, I have ran numerous tests from Lenovo, and other thirdparty applications, no one in which finds any problems. What should I do? I have done everything in my power to try and fix this problem. I have tried every possibly advanced power options, I have even changed the "when plugged in" power options to match the "on battery" ones, but without any change in performance. I cannot figure out, if this is a problem with my power supply? Or the CPU itself? And no tests suggests any problems...  Anyone able to help me out with troubleshooting? I bought this laptop refurbished back in June 2016. Since then, only a handful of updates were succesfully installed and after that every updates released by Windows always failed to install. There are currently 2 updates that is being shown on windows update :Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3205386)Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607These 2 updates have been repeatedly downloaded and try to install on every reboot with no success. What I have tried thus far is Running Windows Update Troubleshooter, which found and fixed several issues but doesn't fix the update failing to install.Any suggestion would be appreciated. It is pretty tiring getting your the notebook to reboot and try to install an update for 20 minutes and never got through. It goes up to 100%, and then starts showing "update couldn't be completed, undoing changes".

Didn't realize the laptop was unplugged and went completely dead sitting there for a month. Went to plug in to power up and nothing. Thought maybe cat chewed on charger cable and tested it and was only pulling 4v vs the 20v it's supposed to but tried new charger that Lenovo sent and still nothing. I've heard battery could be un-chargeable if left to completely die and sit for a while but still don't get why laptop won't boot up when plugged in.  Am I dealing with something else internal in addition to a dead battery?

Lenovo Ideapad z580 Win10 64 I updated the bios with the private update (I know now that I should have used the public update) Then it showed this menu:http://i.imgur.com/kZaO2tf.jpg Whenever I selected HDD, the screen would go black for a couple of seconds and return to this menu. I fixed it by going into BIOS and changing bootmode from UEFI to Legacy. it booted but now everything is slow. It takes 5 mins to boot up and a further 15 minutes to reach usable speeds (I only have 4 startup programs). I tried changing it back to UEFI and it gives me the same problem as shown in the picture. I tried installing the public update, but it says that I cannot update as the current bios version is the same or newer. I went into BIOS and enabled BIOS back flash, and now when I try to start the public update, it just crashes. I also cannot access the start menu (this problem may be seperate and unrelated) I have backed up files and am prepared to do a clean reinstall of Win10, but I feel this won't work as it's a BIOS issue. The computer is unusably slow: what should I do? Thanks

Hi.I have a problem with my battery not charging (at 1% left and power connected) and get an error message that my battery is not recognized by Lenovo, even though it's the same battery I've had for 4 years (the laptop is as good as new, and I don't want to change it).Apparently, a BIOS update should work, according to several web forums, and it worked when I had the same problem some time ago. But since then I have updated to Windows 10 and I can't find any BIOS updates for my laptop which is compatible with windows 10. And those that are compatible with windows 10 are not compatible with my laptop. Will there ever be an update, or do anyone have another solution to my battery problem?INFO:Windows 10 Home 64 bitIntel Core i5-3337U 1.80 GHz8GB RAMCurrent BIOS id: 7ECN19WW

Hello, yesterday I tryed to update the bios of my 450p but at part 9 of 37 the computer hang up.Now when I turn on the pc nothing happens... Windows do not boot and the monitor is black. Can you give some ideas what I can do now?

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad U450p - Bios Update failed

Looks like you have phoenix bios, so you can look at this topic https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-and-Z-series/Lenovo-ideaPad-Y560-BIOS-Recovery/td-p/37791... .Though it's for different laptop model, technically these bioses are similar and that restoration method should work for you. NOTE! that doesn't mean that you can take bios file from y560, you should download updater for your laptop, open it with 7-zip and use bios rom file from here. Flashing bios from different model will DEFINITELY BRICK your laptop. Also, look at this:http://www.bios-mods.com/bios-recovery/phoenix-bios-recovery/http://www.google.com/search?q=phoenix+bios+recovery

Hello,I have a Lenovo Ideapad G460, I am trying to upgrade my bios but it failed. What I did is I had downloaded the bios update from the lenovo site and run the update program and followed all the instructions. During the process of flashing, the application encountered an error. I restarted the laptop and tried Insyde Bios Crisis Recovery using the Fn + B. After several attempts to find the correct filename, the last attempt to flash gave me a series of beeps while flash disks reads, then afterwards, it had powered down the laptop. When I tried to turn on the laptop, the screen is still blank, and now I  am trying to do the crisis recovery again, but now when I press the Fn + B combination, no beeps occurs and flash disk doesn't blink, the fan is spinning at full speed and shut itself down after 10 seconds. I already tried many times already and still gave me the same result. I had already exhausted all methods for flashing but no luck on it. Any help would be appreciated to save my laptop.

My Flex 14 1480 is a week and a half old when the system update application prompted me to update my BIOS. As i recall it wanted to update my bios from 1.04 to 2.0 I clicked yes, and the bios update ran and initiated a restart of the computer. Unfortuatnply now my computer does not start up and i am greeted to LEDS being on but a black screen without a lenovo logo.  I then tried to go on the Lenovo website and for the bios version that i just installed, there is no 2.0 version listed, specifically 2SCN20WW. There are no bios updates period. Was this update pulled, and if so what can I do to recover it so it boots again.  http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Flex-Series/flex-4-1480?tabName=Downlo...  thanks

Answer:Yoga 500 - 15IBD - Bios update went wrong

What you can see there is a Boot menu. Your laptop can't boot from disk and display boot selection menu. Try to enter BIOS (can't say how to do it, as you didn't told which Yoga model do you have) and try to change boot settings from UEFI -> Legacy (or in other way) and/or disable Secure Boot. Check if after these changes your laptop will be able to boot.

Hi.About half a year ago, I bought the Lenovo ideapad 720S-14IKB. Since day 1, I noticed this problem where the mouse becomes invincible for a few seconds after I open a new tab in the webbrowser or start a new program. Here is a video of it: https://i.imgur.com/FSR05gs.mp4 Futhermore, after installing the latest BIOS update (4VCN41WW), the laptop has started to freeze for a couple of seconds on me every once in a while.  Are these, things that can be fixed by myself? Or should i talk to the store where i bought it about sending it to repair? I live in Denmark, so I have 2 years warrenty.

So I just bought this laptop, and I installed windows 7, and it should have Intel HD Graphics 5500 + nVidia Geforce 920M 1GB. However, I cant find nVidia Geforce, and when I try to install driver, it says that driver cant find the hardware. Also, when I open device manager, I do not have nVidia under Display adapters section, only Intel HD Graphics 5500. Anyone knows whats up here? I have seen many solutions that involve changing .inf files but I cant even see the nVidia so that does not work for me.

Hi Lenovo Forum,I wanted to ask for help and advice on whether there is a need for my Flex 4 laptop to update its BIOS.It's my first time opening the Lenovo companion app that came with the laptop and I noticed that there is one critical update.  Here is the installation history: Here is the system info from the companion app Now my question is, do I have to update this or simply ignore it?Just to clarify, I'm not really a tech savvy person. I am unsure if this is safe or not. I read from other sites that updating the BIOS may have risks of bricking the laptop and make it unusable. So, I really need help if I should proceed with the update or leave as it is. The current situation right now is, everything seems to be working fine. I am near my warranty expiration. The only complaints that I have is that whenever I leave my laptop and set it to sleep by 11PM, I open it the next morning and the battery is all drained to 1%. This does not happen all the time, but for it may happen quite frequently. Here is my battery information And one other complain is that, even if I set it to sleep mode, sometimes, I do hear the laptop fan go really loud. I am also not sure why that happens. But I hope all my additional information would be helpful on determining if my computer has issues and if I do really need to update the BIOS. Any type of help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello my friends ! A time ago i bouhgt two Lenovo ideapad 100 14 IBY (FreeDos Version) and install Windows 10 on it with UEFI and GPT Partition Table. All works fine until i want to play around with Linux and install UBUNTU Mate in UEFI on one of them. The install was easy but the Performance on Ubuntu with Bay Trail and the don't working Bluetooth was a reason to switch back to Windows 10. After that the Problem beginns. The Bios don't let me save changes anymore (only time and date !). There was no UEFI ESP and GPT Support since i install UBUNTU and the Bios Menu looks like that:Bios Entries on a blank DiskBootingThe Disk is Blank there is no ubuntu on there (Don't know waht the EFI Entries are no Hardware is connected). And when I boot also go to Network Boot there.(No Matter a USB Stick is connected). So what i did: # I Dismantle it and disconnect Battery and Cell and wait half an hour. # Nothing changes !# I change the HDD. # Nothing changes !# Reflash the BIOS by edit the plattform.ini - CheckByBios=1 - Error Cannot mount EFI Partition. # Nothing changes !# Install Windows 10 - Make mbr2gpt.exe and bcdedit and bootrec. # Nothing changes ! I can install and run Windows 10 in MBR and BIOS Mode on it. But no USB Stick was displayed in Boot Menu. So now Iam on my Limit and the Question is there a way to put UEFI and GPT back on it or does the BIOS locked in this State. For me UEFI is MALEWARE so why can a simple UBUNTU damaged my BIOS and ... HI, Please skip to paragraph six for the actual issue I am having--the preceding paragraphs include info that may help to identify how to fix this. I am posting this using my HP desktop running Windows 7 as my Lenovo Ideapad 110 cannot connect to internet as explained below: Firstly, Sorry if I am breaking community guidelines in any way with this post. I did multiple searches but only came up with "forgot my BIOS password-how can I reset it" type posts. I am looking for urgent help to get back into the "BIOS" of my Lenovo IdeaPad 110 running preinstalled Windows 10. Everything was running fine until yesterday. This is when I made the mistake of thinking I knew more about the system than I actually seem to lol :/ So, yesterday--I entered the "BIOS" screen upon startup using F2 (function key+F2). I went on to disable wireless connection ability (to test something unrelated), and also switched Boot from strait UEFI boot mode to legacy/UEFI boot-with UEFI being the default boot option.  I don't know if any of the above have to do with the issue I am now having but I wanted to share it just in case. Here is the real issue as of now: Also yesterday at the same time while in "BIOS", I also went on to set an "admin password", the one you must type in before you can even get to the lenovo splash screen to enter "BIOS". Basically I believe this is referred to as a POST password although I am not an expert cleary (hence asking for the experts' he... Read more

Answer:Where is my HDD Ideapad 100-15IBD

Hi lamradnane ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you have the machine number (check on the machine number from the sticker or check it from here ,just keep your serial number confidential) .  It would appear similar to this 80QQ00CQUK  .

Physical devices detected by the machine should show in the BIOS . Turning off the system and using the Novo key to power on would give Novo Menu that offers BIOS set up as this can also be verified within windows under device manager if recognized.

The parts lookup page would also be able to verify the devices /parts using the machine number or SN.

Update us as soon as convenient.

I have to report also 3 issues with my Lenovo Ideapad U410:1. WI-FI issues since I bought the notebook, end of February 2013.    - I tried updating the wireless drivers, but did not help.2. Left hinge detached from the lid 3 months ago.3. The LCD screen remains black after starting the laptop, it takes several reboots to eventually display the image. The left hinge detached from the lid apparently because of poor design, the plastic keeping the screws in place broked in small pieces... There are still pieces of plastic around the screws... No way to place the hinge back, unless passing the screws through the LCD lid... Being a desktop support technician, A+ certified and Dell technician certified, I supported IBM laptops, then HP laptops, and now Dell laptops. Never had this kind of issue with other laptops. I have an 16 inch HP laptop since 2008, and still no issues, also WI-FI works wonderful. I bought the U410 to have a smaller notebook, as the HP is much biger, thicker and much havier, but unfortunately after only 2.5 years of use, I cannot use the Lenovo Ideapad U410 anymore. I would invite Lenovo to replace the lid, fix the display issue, and also fix the WI-FI issue. Thank you for reading this.

Answer:Looking for a Ideapad 100-15IBD DC Jack

Hi beckent. Welcome to the forums.

In my experience I found it very hard to find just that "DC Jack" replacement from Lenovo. Lenovo usually change the complete parts, and on the this case will be the whole mainboard.

Lenovo has available the parts list of the computer to the public (page 60), but not at a that low level. If the machine is under warranty or if you are going to take it to a Lenovo shop, they will replace the complete part.

If you only want to fix the component the only chance you have is trying to find who sells the same or similar electronic parts on the market.

Hello! I am new to Lenovo and picked up my 1st laptop yesterday when my HP died. I have always had HP and grew tired of how easy they break & poor battery life, so I wanted to try a different band. I love the computer, the keyboard, track pad & screen are amazing. I bought the ideapad 320-15IAP for about $330 (Including tax) The specs at the store advertised 4.5-5 Hours of battery life, but I have not been able to get a charge better than 2 hours. For someone that uses my laptop at work and on the go, this will not do. Can any one offer up any advice? Does lenovo sell stronger batteries for ideapad that I can replace with this current battery?  My next issue is the Windows 10 update that you are forced to do, I have been trying to install it since 9PM last night, it is now 9PM tonight, a full 24 hours, and it has not fully installed. I have done my fair share of google searches and many people have had these same issues too, but no good solutions outside of deep computer hacking, I don't want to have to do that on a brand new computer. Thanks for any and all help!

I want to update BIOS, so I downloaded D5CN47WW. In text file it is written that this is BIOS for my computer.
Everything seems fine but when I execute BIOS exe file it says that this is BIOS for Lenovo Paris 300 notebook!
What Paris now? I tried to google but only can find Paris in France.
I am user of Lenovo notebooks for many years (from IBM ThinkPads to this days) but when txt Readme file said
this is update for your computer, it was! This is confusing for me so I cancelled update.
Can anybody explain this mistery?
Thanks in advance

Hi all. Just taken delivery of a new ideapad 305-15IBD. Am finding the mousepad very hard to control. Many times when i try to move the mouse key around the screen, having to touch the pad a couple of times before it moves and even then its quite erratic. Also when tapping on anything using the pad i have to press it 2,3, or even sometimes 4 times before it is recognised. I have bben using a Samsung R519 for years and necer had this issue. Is ithis common to newer laptops, Lenova laptops or is there any way of adjusting? Will surely have many more questions if i can get over this one, if not it may be going back.

And when i open and close the lid, that part of the laptop pretty much pops out. I don't want that the crack to get bigger, so i was thinking to replace the whole palmrest. Is that what should i do or there is any other fix? And if not, where i should find a palmrest to buy? Sorry for the bad image quality

I have just installed Windows 7 (Ultimate 64bit) - got the drivers from; http://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/100-series/100-15ibd/80QQ/00CQUK?linkT...Everything works except the Bluetooth & Camera. The supplied Camera Driver contains two drivers one is Realtek Driver and the other a Genesys Driver - using the universal installer package you get a message that says "No appropriate hardware found" - using the individual folders containing each driver there is a Setup.exe file - either will seem to install but neither works. I have found various drivers on the web but nothing that gives me a working Camera in Windows 7. Bluetooth similar - by the way neither show in device manager as devices with exclamation marks. Any ideas (HaHa) would be well received. Thanks

I have brought a crucial mx300 525gb sata ssd drive as would like to install this inplace of the hd that is currently in the machine, i want to clone everything "make exact copy" from the hd to the ssd but there is a windows C: drive and a lenovo D: partition which i believe is for recovery! what software and hardware would i need to be able to do this so i can just insert the ssd without any problems! thank you

Answer:How to upgrade from hd to ssd on ideapad 100-15ibd 80qq

Hi jamienffc ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can use the hardware manual for disassembly guide (page39) and likewise follow the steps advised on this thread:

" 1. Install the ATIH on the HDD2. Insert SSD into the external USB box. Yes, this advice is in opposite of goretsky's one. That box costs 10...20 bucks3. Launch the ATIH, select the clonong process:a)the whole driveb)in manual mode (leave the size of partition System_DRV as is, partition C: will be resized in proportion, as well as the Q: )4. The app will reboot the laptop for the cloning process.5. Wait several hours . After finish replace the SSD and the HDD. Boot from the SSD.6. If you have Factory Recovery media already you can delete Lenovo_Recovery partition on the SSD. Resize the system partition (add the free size from the Q: ), even make the new partition7. Reinstall Lenovo R&R applicationn in order to get working ThinkVantage button at the laptop boot stage."

Some vendors have their own cloners offered free with the SSD , on this thread Acronis True Image 2014 (Home) was used but you can freely choose one that you are more familiar with.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards

Answer:IdeaPad 100-15IBD Scan problem

Hi  ornella2904 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

What Windows version would you be using?
Assuring that you have already installed all remaining updates for Windows can assure that there are no current downloads or installations currently being processed in the background.

Technical Support are the best guys to consult regarding WWF00F008-UL7VBE as it would need specific tool to decode it and if this would relate to current slow performance.

You can try safe mode and clean boot to isolate if running processes are causing it. Start up options to disable non essential process can help as well disabling hybrid sleep on power setting.
Setting the power option not to save power on the properties of the wlan card under device manager can help maximize wireless usage.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

My lenovo idea pad 100-15ibd ran into a problem while I was on it, not allowing me to do anything. So I turned the laptop off, and tried to turn it back on. When I did this it went into an auto repair, trying to fix disc errors. I let this run for more then 40 hours, before finally stopping it and turning the laptop off. When I did this, anytime I tried to turn the laptop on it would just sit on the Lenovo splash art, and I couldn't bring up a console with f8.

At this point I started looking up support on the forums, and found something about cutting all power, and removing the battery. To do this with my Ideapad, I had to take it apart, some. I DID break a lenovo sticker, that was hiding a screw. I assume that is how they would know if it had been opened. Cutting the power didn't work, so instead I took it to a nearby compute repair store. They told me it would likely cost more then half the laptops worth to fix, because it needed a new hard drive, and to be completely reset.

So I'm really just trying to see, if the one year warranty that IS still active, according to your website, had been fully voided; And if I'm just going to have to suck it up and drop the benjis.  Or if there is a chance that I could still have it fixed through its warranty. Any help is appreciated.

Answer:Ideapad 100-15IBD - Voided warranty?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry hear of your problem.  Most Lenovo Service Centers realize that folks will open their laptops in order to upgrade the various components.  Although opening the cover on a model like yours will void the warranty, the service center at times overlook that fact provided no damage was done.  The best I can say is contact Lenovo Support and explain the situation to them and get their opinion.  Regardless of what I write here, they will have the ultimate say as to whether the warranty is voided.  You might also check to see if there is a service center in your area where you could bring the machine in and explain the problem in person.  You can use the Service Locator below to see what is in your area......
