Question: Random Crashes with loud static sound - DM Log included

Hello,

I have reached out to Win10 "Contact Support" and they had me do a complete update to my OS. I thought I was in the clear because I had a couple days go by with no crashes, but now they're back. I continue to see these 2 entries in my event viewer and can't help but think it's part of the problem. So far I have not had any luck trying to troubleshoot it. I've tried the driver verifier but my PC can't boot after I make the selections in the utility. I have to go into safe mode and delete the verifier settings in order to get back to normal. Also, please see the attached dm_log file.

Here are the events:

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi mattsonberg,

It seems this driver, Driver Reference Table - SaiMini.sys, caused problems with driver verifier.
I'm not sure what it is related to, but I would suggest to update the software/drivers or remove the related things.
On a side note, it is quite interesting to see how much data a minidump can have

Hi. My Toshiba laptop has been randomly crashing/freezing with colorful static on the monitor and loud static noise from the speakers (usually if I'm on youtube). This has been happening on and off for months. Sometimes it just crashes to a black screen and restarts but often it does the dramatic crashing. I don't have a good connection to go downloading troubleshooting stuff and I have no idea if its the battery, the video card, a virus (because rarely on boot-up the microsoft security essentials is turned off or malwarebytes has an error about root-kits that doesn't come up again when its restarted), or what. I don't know what to google to even start finding answers to this problem and I need help.

I bought a Gateway NV53 refurbished laptop a couple years ago and got completely ripped off. Dead pixels in the middle of the screen in the shape of a bonzai tree -__-' bowl shape and random crashes/freezing all the time.

I found the sound it is doing on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RayMBLFYRtQ#t=16

I thought it could be a battery/heating issue so I bought two of those fans (http://i.imgur.com/OEvrExd.jpg)
Nothing helped, I could be watching a movie or simply browsing the internet using Google Chrome and it would crash randomly. I tried removing the battery and using the charger only and I got the same result!

Any help on what could be the cause of this?

I have a dell xps 420 and it HAD vista home premium 32-bit, but I upgraded to the 64-bit version of home premium and that's when the problems started occurring. At least once a day my sound randomly does a very loud screeching sound and afterwards my sound doesn't work for a few minutes. I have X-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card and I was pretty sure it was compatible with 64-bit, but now I'm worrying. I've already tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver in device manager. Is it possible I have to turn off my computer and unhook and rehook the sound card so it reads it properly or something?

Are the drivers you are using for the X-Fi the latest ones available for download from the Creative site? Check here: http://support.creative.com/Product...laster&prodID=15853&prodName=X-Fi+XtremeGamer

My brain hurts. HP Pavilion a430n with realtek ac'97 int sound. Problem appears to start on xp loading screen. I see the loading bar freeze for a split second and speakers pop and static starts. I have uninst/reinstalled realtek driver, checked speakers, checked volume levels, used a clean boot via msconfig, downloaded kcodec and installed......no luck. All sounds are affected. Maybe the card is dead? Motherboard Manufacturer name: ASUS A7N8X-LA, HP name: Focus-UL6E XPsp3 pro
Thank you for any reply

Answer:"Overlaying" loud static and squelches when system plays any sound. Realtek ac'97

That computer from 2003 does not have a sound card. The sound is delivered through a chip on the motherboard.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c00063027

You might be able to use an external sound card that connects through a USB port.

Hey all,

I recently built a new computer, and I have been having a sound issue once in a while when playing a game/watching movies. The sound will be going okay, and all of a sudden i get this loud static sound, which goes away after a few seconds when playing a game or just ffwding/rewinding watching a video.

Any ideas? I mean, it isnt a huge issue, but it is a bit of a nuisance.

Cheers

Answer:Random Static with sound?

What is the name of the audio device? Is it onboard audio or a sound card? You should tell us this info.

Are you using the latest drivers for your sound device? Outdated drivers can potentially cause the problem.

An equally likely culprit for this problem is bad speakers. What speakers are you using? Are they plugged in to the right jack?

My computer is a few years old, but it has NEVER crashed until today. I was in a game of League of Legends, and out of nowhere the screen froze, and a loud buzzing started coming out of my headset, I couldn't alt+tab or ctrl+alt+del. There were no signs of it coming (such as lag). I thought oh well, that's odd and turned off my PC by the front button and then turned it on again. I finished that game without any problems...
An hour later I am trying to launch the game Aion, and my computer freezes again during the launch of the game. This time, the monitor shut off when it happened too... I turned off my PC with the button and left it off for around 30 minutes... I turned it back on, but unplugged my headset to see if maybe for some reason that was the problem. (I read to do that online by one person).. I got on Aion, played for 15 minutes and them boom, crash again out of nowhere.
As of now, I am just on my computer again and I haven't tried to play any games, because that seems to be the only time when my computer crashes... I am not super tech savvy, but I am willing to try anything you give me instructions on how to do.
What I have tried: I have tried upgrading drivers, as that is what everyone in different forums was saying to do, but they were already updated. I also tried playing without my headphones in, that didn't work.

Hi All,

Basically I am getting this super annoying problem that only started to occur recently , possibly related to updates but I'm not sure.

What happens is that say I'm playing music or watching a video (not necessary , just example) the PC will sort of stutter / freeze and loop the sound into a glitch kind of noise for a few seconds, this might happen a couple times over a 5 second period , and then stop, It might happen again 20 minutes later or whatever. There's loads on the net about it from other people but no definitive answer. I have re-installed graphics drivers and tried a few different versions etc. The other day the PC actually crashed, no BSOD just rebooted with no warning at all and I think I got some crash dumps if anyone can analyse them.

Any help majorly appreciated .

Thanks

So the title says it all, haven't noticed a pattern and my temps have been around 90-95C when it happens, I'll either get a random shut off with no bluescreen or a bluescreen that does a dump before I'm even able to read any of it.
Running windows 7 home premium 64 bit with 4 gigs of RAM. I use Fruity Loops (Digital Audio Workstation) a lot along with Traktor Pro for DJ'ing (separately of course), so I'm wondering if it's taking up too much of my RAM/CPU and I should upgrade?

I ran minitoolbox and here are the results along with my minidump files.

When I turned on my laptop this morning, it started making a long, loud static noise that would randomly pause for a few seconds then start back up again. I tried playing music to see if that was affected and it came out garbled and fuzzy. I updated my audio driver, and for a while the problem seemed entirely fixed.
Now the speakers emit a few seconds of static at random intervals when all sound is off. The loudness of the static is unaffected by changes to speaker volume. Music plays just fine for the most part, but sometimes one speaker will turn off and back on again so the sound kind of jumps. Right now, the laptop has been behaving normally for about ten minutes, but when static events start they kind of occur in groups that won't go away for a while.
My laptop is an Inspiron 11 - 3147, it's less than two years old and it recently updated to Windows 10 without asking me first and has been a little bit glitchy ever since.

ok so i have been having thi sprob for a long time, like ever since i got the card, actually. tried looking thru creative forums, even contacted creative customer support several times. it happens when i am playing a game, or even just playing music, but not as often.

here is what i have done to try and fix: change pci slot of card, change audio settings in creative audio console, change latency settings, change all types of bios settings, uninst/reinst drivers 100's of times/manually delete registry entries/installshield entries/use drivercleaner pro, etc; close ALL background processes except the ones you can't close, probly more but i cant remember off hand.

this doesn't happen during any particular game either. it happens during the elder scrolls 3: morrowind quite frequently though. other games : wizardry 7, wizardry 8, i DO play a lot of "older games" (1999-2002) and there is no compatibility mode built into the sound card or creative software. i have tried running the games under windopws compat mode, no help either. any ideas anyone?

p.s., my specs in my profile are up to date. thanks

Hi there,
I see you have tried a lot of things.
It sounds weird, I do not think sound cards need any compatibility mode.
With older titles it's direct sound only isn't it so they SHOULD work ....

Is onboard sound disabled in BIOS?
What entries do you have under sound video and game controllers in the device manager?

So i listen to music on itunes and I put it on max volume, then like 20 min of me listening to music it suddenly freezes and makes a LOOOOOOOOUD sound that I can't exactly describe, its like a horn sound?? Well anyway's its very loud and the laptop gets frozen so there isn't anything I can do except press the off button to restart my laptop. Whats wrong with it? I barely got my laptop 4 months ago! And this problem only happens when I'm listening to music please help? :]]

Also I have enough ram because I barely install anything and I don't have many files like music and pictures saved on my laptop either :)

Answer:Whenever I play loud music, my laptop freezes and makes a LOUD sound??

Your computer may be overheating. Blow all the fans out with a can of compressed air. Consider a laptop cooler.
Does this happen if you listen to music through headphones?

Question: loud static noise!

My computer is constantly making a loud static/rushing/electronic interference noise, all the time apart from when I play a CD using the Windows CD player - but if I try and play a CD using Windows Media Player I still get the noise, and the CD volume is so quiet you cannot hear it over the interference!

Any suggestions? I have a USB broadband modem and the problem started shortly after I installed this. I only have integral sound that came with the motherboard, I don't have a soundcard.

Any help welcome!

Not sure if anyone can help with this but recently, as in sometime in the last few days, my HTPC audio has gone spastic.
When trying to watch live tv or previously recorded tv (still in the media centre tv format) there is really load static over the top of the audio stream. When I say loud I mean take those warehouse clearance ads (Mr bankrupt for example) and multiply by 100. It has got to be the maximum audio output and I thought it was going to kill the tv speakers!
Watching video in any other form (AVI, MKV, h264, mpg) is fine and all other audio I have used (mostly mp3 or ogg) seems to work too.
PC info below;

CPU ? 3Ghtz Athlon 64 X2 6000+
MOBO ? Gigabyte MA78GM-S2H
RAM ? 4 GB DDR2 RAM
TV Tuner ? Compro E750F
OS ? Windows 7 (Media Centre 7)
Has anyone encountered this before or have suggestions?

just a short idea: Did you recently change any cables? It sure sounds like defective/insufficient shielding of some sort.

So I recently upgraded my psu, GPU, and cpu on my rig, triple checked all compatibility for this and ensured that my motherboards bios was upgraded as I hadn't upgraded that.
Keep receiving random restarts (at the oddest moments see below).
Kernel power error/reboots
Probably caused my AuthenticAMD (windows debugger)
Weird parts are, I can play assassins creed unity at the ultra graphics setting with no delay no error and it will not crash out at all. However on the desktop it will crash randomly (no specific tasks) and it will always crash out when playing mount and blade Viking conquest within 10 mins or less.
Specs are since upgrade (will be more detailed later)
Motherboard - M5A78L-M/usb3 (upgraded bios to version 2001)
Cpu - amd fx 8350
GPU - asus radeon r9 290 dc2oc
Psu - Evga 600b 80+ (also troubleshot with corsair psu 650w)
Cpu cooler - Evo hyper 212 with just one fan and an exhaust for more cool and hot hair relief on chasis.
Ram 16gb ddr3
Win 7 64x home basic
DVD/cd rewritable standard sata
1tb standard sata hdd
Like I've said I've tried the old hardware one by one same error repeating.
Troubleshooting -
Tested each hardware with memtest86, furmark, cpu stability, occt etc. Works fine. Only crashed on cpu stability once.
Tested with different psu/cpu/GPU same again.
Heat is fine GPU ranges from 50-68 Celsius (depending on game) and cpu idle is 28-30 and 40-50 during games (Celsius). GPU idle is 40 normally. Used with speed fan and afterburner.

I specifically bought the Toshiba Satellite (my fourth in a row) to take advantage of the lovely harmon/kardon speakers.

I find that the volume is going loud and soft all the time, specifically going softer when there appears to be something in the music (or whatever Im listening to) that would normally go louder. It's almost as if it is trying to 'normalise' the volume. Whatever is happening, it sounds terrible.

I've done a quick search on thee forums and I can't see a solution. I have seen on the greater internets (simply google Toshiba loud soft" and it pops up) someone else with the same problem.

I've messed around with the sound for hours at a time and had absolutely no luck.

I'm at my wits end. Can some please help me?

Hi everyone, I hope i'm posting in the right place. I joined this forum because i need some help. Less then a week ago i purchased a new sony laptop model number sve151a11w. My problem is almost every time i play a game (i only have dawn of war 2 + expansions and minecraft at the moment) after a couple of minutes of playing there will be a loud static sound from the speakers then the computer will freeze, the only way to unfreeze it is to hold down the power button until it shuts down. Ctrl + Alt + Delete doesn't work, the windows button doesn't work and i'm starting to get worried about shutting my computer off like this all the time.
Any help is appreciated.

I have a HP Pavilion 15-n020nr andfor no reason at all my laptop started making this noise. At first it was intermittent static, almost like static beeping, but then it became steady. I restarted my laptop, but it started up again once I turned it back on. I also heard it through my headphones at first but after I unplugged them and plugged them back in now it's just from the speakers again. At first it started as soon as I played any audio, and would stop about 30 seconds after I stopped playing the audio. Now it starts as soon as I start up my laptop. I tried updating my Realtek driver, and my graphics driver (amd radeon hd 8400/R3 Series) but as soon as I did my laptop wouldn't turn on at all. I had to completely reset it from the menu you get when you press esc while booting it up. While that did allow me to use my laptop again, the static noise is still there.

I would really appreciate anyone with any idea how to fix this.

Okay so I have installed WIndows 7 x64. After having HUGE Issues getting the proper sound drivers I had to resort to a fix that someone made for windows 7 and the soundblaster's (x-fi). When I'm either on skype or ventrilo I hear LOUD static when other people have their microphones queued (on skype this is all the time, ventrilo is hotkeyed) Even if their microphone is physically muted, when they queue their microphone i hear LOUD static. I have no other audio issues but I cannot solve this and its becoming frustrating.

The weird thing.. is that in games like Heroes of Newerth or Counterstrike Source I hear no static when people queue their microphones.

Anyone? I managed to fix this error last night by installing the drivers on the creative site in combination with Daniel K's fix. the static was gone. I log on today and it's back. When someone has their mic muted I hear static, and when we're currently in a conversation i hear the static, the only thing that subdues it is when we begin to speak, it dissapears.

Also with my OWN mic now, when I hit "listen to this device" and unplug my mic attachment I hear the same static.

Hi! Here's the problem:

Brand new pc crashes at random times. Screen freezes, leds on keyboard and mouse black out, and the sound loops kindof fast. Reset button resets, but that's all it responds to when this happens.

No BSOD, no event viewer logs on anything.

Here comes the worst part: I keep having my tech guy take it away to fix it, but it doesn't want to crash at his techlab. Not in 5 days. Accumulated, the PC has been in his lab for about 3 weeks now. Not once has it crashed for him, even tho he ran all kinds of stress tests. 3dMark, Memtest, and some others i downloaded myself, but don't remember which ones they are. So it's impossible to produce the crash on purpose. He opened, and kind of worked a little most of my applications simultaneously - and i have a lot of applications. Nothing, no crash, no errors. Happened three times now, that he took it away to see what's wrong but after a few days he brought it back to me - because it just didn't crash at his place. I know what you might be thinking: voltage fluctuations... right. I call bs on that, because i have a surge protected extender and it doesn't freeze even when the lights in the whole house are flickering due to fluctuations.

I contacted some other techies for suggestions on the problem, but all of them are saying different things. Some say its hardware related, and the only solution is to swap the hardware up 1 by 1, and see what happens. Some say windows is trash (ofc they use linux or apple or ... Read more

Answer:Random crashes with looping sound - tried everything

Sounds like a hardware problem. My thoughts are RAM, PSU, CPU, Motherboard. Do you have a spare PSU around to test? Have you tried the sticks of RAM individually? Nothing is needed like memturbo to run windows. If you bought the computer recently, is it still under warranty?

Hi,

I currently bought the Tt eSports Shock One headset:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826254008

The microphone emits a loud feedback. Using a program like mumble, the noise suppression feature allows the buzzing to be removed.

I am looking for driver/software that would allow me to put noise supression on the mic at a Windows 7 level, rather than a program level.

Thank you for your help.

Please move this to another subforum if this is the wrong place.

I have been getting a ton of bsods I have re installed video drivers, updated and reinstalled windows 8. Did countless hardware test(Video ram, check memory, Cpu test) all passed temperatures stay around 25-35 c.
Recently uninstalled all video drivers and re installed. The bsods sometimes go away for a week or two but come back. and sometimes when it bsods there is a static noise inside of the computer, and the blue screen becomes distorted
Ive attached the dump files, if someone could help me pinpoint the piece of hardware so I can ship it out for repair please.

Answer:Random BSOD 0x00000124 Hall.dll (Bsod is distorted/static sound)

I recently got new headphones (Bose QuietComfort3) and they work fine with an ipod and one of my computers. However, with my other computer, I get a loud, constant static noise coming out of them. The noise starts around half-way through booting up Windows and doesn't stop until the computer shuts off. My old headphones work fine with the computer (they are very cheap headphones though) and my speakers work fine. These new headphones also play sounds fine, but the static sound drowns everything out. My soundcard is a SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit.

Things I've tried:
1. Updating the soundcard drivers.
2. Disabling the soundcard.
3. Making sure there were no loose connections in my case.
4. Cleaned out my case.

Thanks for any help.

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased the Acer Aspire 5755G laptop for gaming purposes, for the first couple of days it worked just fine but now I'm witnessing random freezes which cause my system to crash for a moment and when it happens, I'm hearing a weird (terminator?) sound from the speakers. I overclock my GPU when I play games but I'm sure it isn't a GPU problem since this happened before I even started overclocking the GPU. I'm not sure but I think that the CPU is the main cause of my system crashing.

Specs:

Intel i5 2430M CPU (with Turbo boost)
nVidia Geforce GT 540M
8GB DDR3 1333 MHZ RAM
750 GB 5400 RPM TOSHIBA HDD
Windows 7 Home Premium x64

Hope you guys can help me out with this annoying problem

Thx!

Think this may be a hardware issue, but since I can't pin down what hardware I figured I'd pick the XP forum.

I'm actually in dialogue with the company that sold me my pc (www.pcspecialist.co.uk), but since so far they've been unsuccessful in resolving my problem I figured I'd try one or two general tech forums to see if an outside perspective might help. So here I am.

First, my system is as follows:
Processor (CPU) INTEL? Core 2 Duo E6600 (2 X 2.40GHz) 1066MHz FSB/4MB L2 Cache
Memory (RAM) 2048 MB CORSAIR XMS2 800MHz (2x1GB)
Motherboard ASUS? P5N32-e SLI PLUS
Operating System MICROSOFT WINDOWS? MCE 2005
320GB SERIAL ATA II HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (7200rpm) (Western Digital I believe)
Graphics Card 640MB GEFORCE 8800GTS
Sound Card Sound Blaster? X-Fi? XtremeMusic 7.1
Power Supply: 600W Quiet Quad Rail PSU

The problem, and I've had it since I got the pc, is that my pc periodically crashes - the exact symptoms of the crashes vary a bit, but generally it freezes/locks up, any sound is replaced by a continuous high pitched tone and then it either reboots itself, or I have to press the reset button. Sometimes there are minor graphical artifacts when this happens, but usually not. Occasionally instead of freezing, the sound gives a short burst of static then all sound cuts out (sometimes the sound is a bit crackly for a little while before this happens). When this has happened I've been able to continue with what I was doing until it eventually locks anywhere u... Read more

Hello and Welcome to TSF

Lets run some tests:

Find the manufacturer of your hard drive and run their Hard Drive Diagnostics Utility.

Try Windows Memory Diagnostic Test
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

The Windows Memory Diagnostic tests the Random Access Memory (RAM) on your computer for errors. The diagnostic includes a comprehensive set of memory tests. If you are experiencing problems while running Windows, you can use the diagnostic to determine whether the problems are caused by failing hardware, such as RAM or the memory system of your motherboard. Windows Memory Diagnostic is designed to be easy and fast. On most configurations, you can download the diagnostic, read the documentation, run the test and complete the first test pass in less than 30 minutes.

Or you can try memtest

Check the error messages by looking in the Event Viewer (Start->Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer).

Is the system overclocked?

Have you gone to the maunfacturers website and checked for updated drivers? This would be for all hardware (mobo, vid, sound)

Lastly, have you changed the psu yet?

Please post back the results of the all tests you performed

Hi everyone,
I'm new to TechSupport forum, just so you know. I registered because lately my computer has been inoperable. I never believed such a generous and helpful site such as this would exist, so thank you in advance for the service you do.
My problems are: Before the following major problems, for months when reaching my desktop on startup, a dialogue box appeared stating a strange WINDOWS file was missing. This stopped whe the following problems arose.
It hasn't happened for several hours, but I often heard random sound clips playing without a program even being opened.
-Frequent Crashes:
During startup, loading windows, my personal settings and at the desktop
When I ask the computer to do more than one thing at a time
When I try to open IE
When using "reset_access_avg8_en.exe" to combat a problem I encountered when trying to uninstall AVG, preparing for removing this virus(es) (uninstalled Symantec Antivirus instead)

Im trying to play a video in Windows media player but with any video all i hear is a really loud static noise, ive tried playing the exact same files in Windows movie maker and the sound works just fine so i know the files are ok.
Ive also tried playing them in DivX and i'm getting the exact same ear popping static noise so the only thing that seems to be able to play them with the correct audio is Movie Maker.
The video file is .AVI but ive also tried .MKV with the exact same results, i know my Windows media player used to work fine so i have no clue whats messed up, Any help would be much appreciated!

It's just done it 3 times whilst I typed the title.

The system will just randomly lock up, the mouse might move but nothing will work, sometimes the whole screen freezes including the mouse, sometimes if there is sound playing as well then that just loops really fast. Half the time it does this after about 5 seconds the screen goes black, and when it comes back I get a message telling me the display driver stopped working.

This is on a 2009 MacBook Pro with an nVidia GeForce 9400M. I just installed the latest drivers after this started happening, rebooted, and it's still happening (so much that it's almost unusable, and I've got lots of coursework to finish).

OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, if you need any other information I'll gladly provide it.

Problem started when I installed DX11, then played Bioshock. The screen froze and the sound looped, and from then on this has been happening. It's doing it a few times every minute, and makes doing work and playing games totally impossible.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Oh, and when I'm on OSX, and run this OS in a VM, there is no problem. And just to make sure, this doesn't require me to reboot, just wait 2 to 10 seconds every time. This might not sound a lot, but if it's freezing every 30 seconds, it's VERY annoying.

Answer:Random mouse freezes, sound loops, driver crashes

Okay, this might have been cuased by DX11. I'm trying to unisntall it now, but, no luck.

Not 100% sure why this was moved to crashes when I mentioned I don't have to reboot. It's basically lag, where you can't do anything for a few seconds, several times a minute.

Hi, my PC keeps freezing randomly, can be while gaming, online or even when it is just sitting idle on the desktop. Iv'e reinstalled windows twice and updated all my drivers but it still keeps on happening.

My Specs are:
Intel Core i5 4430 - no overclock
1 x 4gb DDR3 RAM
Gigabyte B85M-D3H
Nvidia Geforce GTX 770
Cooler Master RS-500-PCAP-I3

When the crash happens there is no blue screen and the screen just freezes. If there is any sound playing it just goes into a buzzing sound and stays like this until I reboot, after this the PC starts like normal. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?

Thanks

Hi folks

I have an odd issue that I have come to the end of my knowledge about and I am stuck to be honest.

My fairly new (6 months) PC has a very odd way of crashing on me at completely random times although it does seem to happen more regularly when playing sound or video content (VLC, Spotify, Streaming Movies or TV etc) and it also seems to happen more often if I have bittorrent running in the background.

What basically happens is that the screen will freeze for a moment but the sound will continue to play, then any audio coming from the PC will slow right down (like dropping the pitch really low on a turntable) until it just sounds like electronic noises. The sound will continue to play until I reboot the PC but the screen will not change. Sometime I can still move the mouse, sometime I can't. The only way out of it is to hard reboot the computer.

I have checked all my drivers on numerous occasions, I have had it all apart and checked the hardware connections, virus checked and done a full clean reinstall of win 7 but still the same problem...

Any one out there had anything similar????

Thanks

I re-installed Win 7 Pro 32 bit from a USB device (I have the product key) after being unable to prevent further BSOD occurrences. User errors were the cause of the failed first 2 attempts of the re-install, but the third time proved to be a charm. No more blue screens, but ...

1) My CPU now sounds like a jet as it roars down the runway. This especially while playing games on FB with Chrome as my browser.

2) After the re-install there were more than 150 updates. Normal? I installed the IMPORTANT ones -- there were 102. (BTW, post re-install I did Updates first and then Drivers. Hope that was correct.)

3) There is a crackling noise emanating from the built-in speakers, even when muted. The static cannot be heard when the head phones are used. The noise is still present, but only the expected audio comes thorough the wires. Also, I don't recognize the sound driver. I am pretty sure it's not the same, but not certain. Can't confirm either way as I erased the backups. Sorry about that.

4) When I ran sfc /scan now, it took forever and the marathon yielded many, many corrupt files. Some files were reparable and others not. Some of the errant files were Chinese Dictionary files. It surprised me, too. Unfortunately I do not have that log.

I really need some help with this. I am going on 24 hours with no sleep and can't see myself soundly sleeping until this is solved. I have no idea how to solve it. Another re-install?

Stumbled upon this trying to fix my static and it helped it out a bit, not 100% though but thought i would share it.

Anyways;

goto your playback devices > click your speaker properties > advanced > and change the default format to a higher setting, such as 24 bit, 48000hz (studio quality)

thats it, and of course you can play around; if you have an alright sound-system you can tweak your eq. settings and such to compensate for playback quality.

I hope someone may be able to tell me how to fix the problem I'm having with my modem. My modem makes a loud humming static noise while dialing to get on the internet or to talk with someone and then disconnects and ends the call immediately after dialing. Sometimes there is no static noise while dialing and then the loud humming starts immediately after dialing and the telephone call terminates after about 30 seconds. On one call, I heard someone talking from the other end of the phone line but couldn't understand what they were saying because of the loud static.
I have an IBM Aptiva computer, with a windows95 operating system and an IBM Aptiva 28.8 mwave Data Fax modem which is located right on the mother board. I bought the computer new about 5 years ago.
I'm not too familiar with technical terminology, although I have looked in every part of my computer. I looked at a lot of things under system, modem, network neighborhood, program manager and communications, but everything looks normal. IBM notified me that they don't stock this modem any longer. I'm at a complete loss of any new ideas on how to fix this problem exept to try a new modem which I'm a little hesitant to buy until I'm sure the one I have is bad. Any help I can get woud be appreciated. Thank you.

My computer is making kind of a loud whistling sound, it doesn't look like I have bad caps(on my motherboard) though.

Also I hear some sort of "disc spinning" or "fan-like sound" that's loud but it's "soft" loud(like a refrigerator/freezer makes a sort of "soft" but loud sound) makes but it's not my fans. I am guessing it could be my hard drive?

Anyone know what problem I could possibly have?

All sound from the PC fades out over the course of ~2 seconds only to instantly return when a new (loudish) sound is made. It almost feels as if the headset is raising its baseline of noise after a bit and things the normal sounds are just nothing until a loud sound comes in and makes it realize there is still noise to be played. Best way to describe it is having poor thresholds set to a VoIP voice detection, you make a loud noise and it will kick on and detect lower noise for a bit before shutting down again.

Headset is a Skullcandy PLYR2 Wireless Headset USB plugged directly into MoBo

I have not had this issue happen when using my monitor's speakers (HDMI into GPU)

There is no sound card on this PC, and I've not been able to find any sort of software to control the audio processor outside of the windows playback enhancements.

Windows Communications volume attenuation is set to do nothing, VoIP programs are off as well so as to rule out those. No enhancements are on in windows playback enhancements.

Answer:All sound fades until loud sound is played USB headset.

When you use a USB connected headphone (wired or wireless) you do not use the PC's sound card, The USB system does the conversion from digital to analog audio. Thus the problem is somewhere in the USB headset system.

All these things happen before any video\audio is starting to play. Static sound also is hearable after audio/video is stopped. And how did you resolve this problem?? Thanks!

I am having sound trouble. The sound is cutting out. Sometime it works fine. Recently, it will just cut out, stay really low are only be static. IT happens with music and also when I am video chatting. Someone may be talking and the sound will just go really low or cut out completely.  I have had technicians reinstall all drivers and it will work sometimes but not all the time. Sound seems to work fine with headphones.

I'm having an issue with my pc showing a static looking screen of colors and then restarting automatically.

I just recently updated to win 7 from xp. I didn't have the issue with Xp so I think it's related to the win 7 install.

I've replaced the power supply and video card just recently to see if that would solve the issue. It hasn't, therefore I'm thinking it's a software issue.

Please let me know if anyone can help.

There are many issues here, none related to win 7

1-asacpi.sys is known to cause BSOD's up untill the 2009 version yours is 2004.

Hey gang,

Thank you for reading through this.

I have posted a question here once before regarding an ailing PSU. It just died and I replaced it with a new 450 watt Rosewill PSU. That didn't work either. I sent it back and got a replacement. I have installed it.

Here are my new issues:

I'm still getting random shut-downs

I turned down the CPU a little and it seems to be a little more stable. I can boot into windows! I can post this message!

Now some questions:

I'm getting a funny high-pitched noise from my computer now that I have the new PSU in it. It seems to get louder when the machine is doing something. There are no mechanical parts involved during idle time so I'm not sure what's causing the squeek. Any suggestions?

With the new PSU installed, when ever I scroll through a window in IE, I get static noise through the speakers. Any suggestions?

I was reading through some help forums and found that there might be a problem with my old Mobo and my new PSU. I got an old ECS K7VMA board that's 100Mhz FSB. Runs a AMD Athlon T-Bird 1000MHz. Might the PSU be putting too much current in, or some such thing? Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot for reading.

Answer:PSU, Static, Noise, Crashes! All in one!

Try running memtest86 from www.memtest86.com

Also download PC Wizard from www.cpuid.com and monitor your temps.

If it isnt too inconvenient, try reinstalling Windows as well.

Hi everyone,

My laptop (about a year ago now) started to crash when I watch youtube or any other video online for more than around 45 minutes (running really slowly, stop-start, speech getting distorted and then finally stopping etc), and now the fan is always on and quite loud. Now youtube crashes after around 5 minutes. My laptop also sometimes runs really slow (but is sometimes okay). I was wondering if I downloaded a virus by mistake, or if there's anything I can do to make it run faster and the fans stop making so much noise and getting so hot! I've done the system info thing below, and also a hijack this - not sure if that's helpful. Would REALLY appreciate it if anyone has any ideas!

Hello,
I'm running on Windows Professional XP SP2. Just yesterday I upgraded my computer with a new motherboard (Asrock G41M-S) and Processor (Intel Core 2 Duo E8400), as well as 2GBs of RAM. For a day or so my computer worked splendidly, but since last night I've had two instances of a very uncomfortable problem.

My computer will freeze and the speakers will start making a loud, loud noise, scratchy and piercing, which continues until I turn it off, and I *must* turn it off: The computer won't respond to any key, and will not reset unless I press the power button. After restarting the computer will function close to normally, except going to My PC leaves me with a flashlight for a few minutes until finally my drives come up (when they do, they function normally). The control panel and system restore act equally slow after the crash.

The last time it crashed I was working on Adobe Illustrator, transforming a vector. Earlier it was during a very specific scene playing a game (a PCS2X emulated Persona 4, to be precise.) Both of these programs functioned before the update.

Could anyone please help me? I will supply any additional information that is required.

Answer:Windows crashes + loud speaker noise

When you upgraded your system did you install the system drivers for the new equipment as well?
Generally you will need to do a repair install of XP and or install the new drivers.

The current computer I use is not able to go as "loud" as my previous computer. My current computer is not new now, but it is a good 5 years or so newer than my previous one, I'm sure, so why the "power" of the sound is extremely weaker than my previous computer baffles me.Previous computer was Windows ME, current one is XP Media Center Edition. There's a good chance I have no idea what I'm talking about since I just do not know this stuff, but what does the "sound card" in a computer do? Is that what determines how powerful the sound is, how loud it can go, in a computer? If the case with me is that my current computer just has a weak sound card, can I/how do I replace it with a more powerful one? This computer was not custom built and I have never messed around with any computer hardware stuff, but it is definitely not beyond me to learn how to do such things, so how difficult would replacing a sound card be?I don't know what kind of stuff my previous computer used, but my new one does have this thing called "realtek hd audio", whatever that is.I have listened to both my previous computer and my current one through speakers and headphones and earphones with the sound being louder across all on the previous, so that is not the issue.Any more information you need about my current computer to determine why it would just have weaker sound than another computer, any other computer, just ask but be sure to tell me how to ... For some reason, when i try to record on my mic or try to talk to someone on teamspeak, my mic goes static randomly. I tried several mics and they go static too, so i know i dont have bad mics. I do have a sound card. But I don't think I ever disabled the on board sound in bios, which I do not know how to do. Is this the reason why I am getting the static. I don't recall ever having this problem, until I got the soundcard. But I believe its working fine. Please help as this is really annoying. Thanks.

Hey, so im trying to set up a Static IP Address following the instructions from www.PortForward.com.

My router is a D-Link WBR-1310 and im using Vista. (http://portforward.com/networking/static-vista.htm)

Im running into a problem where my computer gets the blue screen and crashes when I get past these steps of what I have to do -

(Copied from Portforward.com) Step 9:

You may have several network connections in this window. I want you to right click on the one you use to connect to the internet. Then click properties.

You should now have the above window on your screen. Click the properties button to open up the properties window of this internet connection.

Click Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and then the Properties button. You will now see the following screen

You should see a dot in the Obtain an IP address automatically box. If you do not, your connection is already setup for a static ip. Just close all these windows and you are done.

Pick an ip address and enter it into the IP Address box. The ip address you choose should be very similar to the router's ip addres. Only the last number of the ip address should be different. If the router's ip address is 192.168.1.1, I might choose 192.168.1.10. The ip address you choose should end with a number between 1 and 254, and should not be the same as the router's ip address. Every device that connects to your network needs to have it's own ip address.

So after I finish all of that I press acc... Read more

You have a bigger issue than static addresses it would appear. Let's go for the simple fix first, and see if that gets rid of the blue screens.
TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows Vista.

Start, All Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

Hello,
I have recently bought a secon hand Asus m2n-e sli mo'bo, from a friend.
All was going well, everything was set up with drivers from origional discs.

While playing a game (lost plannet: Extreeme condidtion) my pc crashed and reset itself. Since then i have been unable to get any sound, when sound is played it just makes a static sound. The only slight bit of sound i can hear is when playing the speaker test program in C-media. I can hear the voice slightly under the static sound.

I have tryed:
>All ports.
>Rolling back drivers.
>Latest C-media drivers from Asus.
> Ac97 drivers.

>Sound card:I tryed to use a Creative Audigy Soundblaster (X-Fi XtremeGamer). After inserting into my mobo my computer failed to boot, or even reach bios.

If anyone could provide answers/solution to either of my problems I would be very greatfull.

Thanks Craig

After installing IE6 on NT machines, we've noticed that now any time we're in IE6 we'll randomly get static playing. This has happened on 3 different machines. One machine we were able to fix by repairing IE6, but the other 2 machines are still doing this.

The static doesn't seem to be linked to any action by the user. Just opening up IE6 can cause it to happen. Sometimes, it doesn't happen for awhile, sometimes it's pretty continuous. We haven't found any reason for this but 2 of the 3 machines that have this did have a problem shutting down the first time after IE6 was installed. The user tried to shut down the machine & it just hung & had to be turned off.

We've tried repairing IE6 (only worked on 1 machine) & also uninstalling & then reinstalling - doesn't seem to help at all on these 2 machines.

Any thoughts on what this could be would be greatly appreciated!!

The computer freezes randomly nothing really makes it freeze you could just be browsing the web and then it freezes and static sounds play through the speaks?

I have replaced the video card because the first one we got was just dying? the screen would go black and then the DVI port on the video card wouldnt work so you would have to switch to the other one every time it did it...

That doesn't seem to be the problem anymore after we got the new card just giving you a little background.

Hi all, I bought my Vn7-591g a little over two years ago, and till now it worked like a charm. However, for a couple of days now, the fan kicks in every couple of minutes and runs at full speed for about 30 seconds. I've checked the temperature (idle around 54C) and cpu load (gpu-z, cpu-z, core-temp), ran FurMark (GPU-test, max temp 74C)... nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. The noise appears on both Windows 10 and Ubuntu systems and also when I'm in the BIOS. Any idea what could cause it? It's actually getting quite annoying, and I haven't found software to control the fan speed as of yet...Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

I am having more problems recently with my laptop crashing completely (no power to anything) while playing Flight Simulator X. This mostly occurs only when playing FSX but tonight i have noticed my machine getting super hot and shutting down unexpectantly. The Fans also begin to speed up prior to shutdown. Hi all, I got my Y450 last July. For the most part I've been very satisfied with my laptop's funcitonality. The only issue that is really strange and keeps annoying me is the random static (crackling) noise that occasionally starts to come out of the speaker (think of a radio noise when you are not on the right frequency).  I have not established any particular pattern when it happens. There does not seem to be a particular connection to a specific software, or an event. Sometimes, a g-chat message in the background generates this, sometimes just opening a Windows Explorer window. Sometimes, it starts without any drastic changes to the system (for example, you've been sitting and doing one document editing for two hours, and then all over sudden your speakers start to crackle).  When it does happen even when the speakers are on mute the sound is audible. When I unmute the speakers, the sound gets really loud. I have tried to reinstall audio drivers with no positive result. The only thing I have figured is how to stop the sound when it occurs. The simplest way is to close the lid and let the system go into hybernate mode. Opening a different software program, or a window sometimes does the trick. So does calling up the Task Manager. However, all of these tricks are not "fixes", and the issue is still very annoying. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how have you dealt with the issue? Thanks,Emma

My computer's been doing this a couple days ago, very random but happening more often day by day with a max of three times today.

My computer crashes, goes to black screen with audio cutting out as well. Usually I just press the power button, but today I waited and pressed random keys to see if anything happen. I got the color static as a result on the attached file and link, sorry for bad camera quality. The computer remained frozen after the screen popped up again. Could it be dust or a loose graphics card that's doing this? I have an AMD R9 380 with updated drivers.

Heat should not be the problem according to MSI Afterburner, and I'm not running anything intensive when it happens.

Answer:Recent computer crashes, then weird colorful static pops up

Yes it can be heat, despite MSI Afterburner.  The program only looks at certain sensors - and the hot spot may not be one monitored by a sensor. Also, MSI Afterburner can cause it's own set of problems - I'd suggest uninstalling it. "Could it be dust or a loose graphics card that's doing this?"Yes it could be.  And checking it is fairly simple on a desktop computerBe sure that the system is unplugged when messing around in the case. Also, be careful touching things inside the case- make sure that you're grounded by holding onto the metal of the case- approach components slowly, in case extreme heat is able to burn you (I got 2nd degree burns from a malfunctioning video card this way). Beyond that - wait for the next episode, then recover from it and immediately generate these 2 sets of reports:Let's try looking at these 2 sets of reports:1)  Please run this report collecting tool (even though you may not be reporting BSOD's) so we can provide a complete analysis:  http://omgdebugging.com/bsod-inspector/When done a Notepad document will open with the name of the file and it's location.By default it'll be a .zip file located on your DesktopSimply upload the .zip file with your next post and we'll move on from there. If it doesn't work for you, then please try this:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/2)  Please do the following:- open Event Viewer (run eventv... My computer will crash whenever I open Opera, im not sure what the problem is either, although i have a session of different links on there which may or may not be related to the problem. It just started to freeze and crash my computer after I started opening it. My computer will also freeze up and get extremely slow after at random times, not sure if its random or not since theres no definite trend to it but my computer will freeze, no black screen or blue screen though, but the music in the background will continue playing normally and sometimes if im doing something like changing the window im viewing or the such during the freeze, it will execute that change in windows extremely slowly, taking like a minute or so but its extremely slow after that so i'd have to restart anyways. Also, Opera had a more definite crash than this, being unable to do anything. I'm not sure whether its a virus or not since I have found viruses that do similar things before on my computer but malawarebytes anti-malware and superantispyware free doesn't detect any viruses. Also, this does not occur all that frequently, for example: it doesn't really occur when im playing a game full screen like warcraft 3 or fallout 3 but it usually happens when im playing like a windowed game and viewing websites (these websites probably dont contain viruses or the such) on google chrome or playing a windowed game and viewing a manga via images or the such. Hello all,

recently my windows xp(sp2) has just encountered a massive set of problems that all started appearing all at around the same time.
1. I cannot install/uninstall any programs, ANY programs, be it warcraft 3, firefox, or word processing applications or anything. What happens is the installer starts up, then when it starts to install or uninstall, it just hangs there completely.
2. Programs that are in use on the computer crash randomly. MSN messenger randomly crashes and just locks up itself and all conversation windows. IE sometimes hard locks itself without prior provocation. Firefox, ms word, windows media player... anything and everything hangs at random intervals.
3. Interestingly enough, when any program hangs, even taskmanager (ctrlaltdel) is unable to close the locked up program. It is stated there as not responding, but when i click end task either of two things happen: a) taskmgr ignores my request entirely b) taskmgr ITSELF hangs (the title says "windows task manager (not responding)"
4. Computer cannot shut down. Clicking the shut down icon on the windows menu lags the entire computer and the menu to restart shutdown or log off never appears. As a result i have taken to manually pulling the plug. Obviously this cannot continue.

I have avast4 which is updated and there doesn't seem to be any viruses or spyware. Also when a program hangs, it doesn't take up more cpu than normal; cpu usage always remains the same (around 0 to 10 for me)... Read more

I randomly get BSOD while playing a game or just doing nothing but listening to music and watching youtube videos. My drivers are all up to date. I uploaded a file which i made with SF Diagnostic Tool. My computer specs are written on my profile too. It's getting annoying and I don't have a solution for this because I don't know if it's the software or hardware. I've been in several forums in order to find any solutions... found nothing.

Please help!

Answer:Random Bluescreens - ntoskrnl.exe (Computer is really loud while BSOD)

Hi Blizzii,

I've checked the 'Event Logs' and they look clean. 'Crash Dump' detects BugCheck Code '0x00000124' caused by 'ntoskrnl.exe' driver; please refer to this 'article' and follow the suggested steps: Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

I could also see the following errors in 'Windows Update logs':

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide! I have been fighting off persistent recurring maladies for several months now, running a handful of free anti-virus and malware programs to no permanent solution. Currently several instances of mshta process launch themselves seemingly at random and cause my laptop to max out and the fan to spin louder than conversation. My cursor/characters are lagging significantly behind my keystrokes - not sure what other symptoms to describe. Logs as directed follow:

Hello all,

My sister is having a rough time with her audio equipment.

The sound is crystal clear, and the computer itself works flawlessly.....BUT
every 5-15 minutes the speakers (or head phones..what ever is plugged in) will emit a
quick high squeal at high volume. When she has her sound turned up just load enough to hear the words to music or a game, this sound will come out loud enough to be a smoke detector going off.

She lives out of state, so I don't have alot of hands on knowledge about the machine. I only had a moment to glance at it last time I went through Arizona.

It's a new P4 on an ESS mobo with a VIA chipset and integrated audio. The psu and video card (one of those herculese cards that came out around last thanksgiving) are used. I was able to download the newsest drivers for the onboard sound from VIA but there was no change.

Have any of you gents heard of an issue like this before?

thanks for the help
-
david

**EDIT** there is no mic installed on this pc by the way (I muted the mic channel just incase it could still through something into feedback)

Answer:Random, loud, high-pitched squeal from speakers

When this noise goes off does the computer just keep working as usual? Smoke detector type volumes are often overheating alarms.

I can't seem to find what's causing it, I thought it might be graphics drivers because it prolongs the bsod sometimes when I reinstall drivers and Catalyst Control Center crashes every time I open it, but I'm not sure.

Answer:Random BLSC 0x50 New Computer, New Install; Random Program Crashes.

Test your RAM using Memtest86+. Let it run until 6-8 passes have completed or errors have been found.
RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Enable Driver Verifier. Enabling this should hopefully crash your system and then point to the faulty driver that is causing problems. However before you do, it is advised that you create a system restore point and backup first.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

You have McAfee installed, is that correct? At least to test, uninstall it and install MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) instead.

The following drivers need to be updated:

Code:
athrx.sys Wed Jun 10 04:06:49 2009
Rt64win7.sys Thu Feb 26 20:04:13 2009
These drivers can be found by searching them in Google and then finding the associated software or driver. Finally, find the latest version of this driver or software and download and install it. Some of the drivers may also be found here (if the driver says 'Windows Update' simply make sure all Windows Updates are installed).

You should also update any other drivers you can think of including graphics, audio, chipset etc.

Make sure all Windows updates are installed.

Hey guys, first post on here after about a week of solid research and forehead-to-screen bashing (and a few months of increasingly more frequent issues) trying to figure out what is wrong with this computer.

Here's the specs:

? OS - Vista Home Premium SP2
? x64

? What was original installed OS on system?
-Probably sometime in 2009. Here is what the computer originally was: iBUYPOWER Gamer Gears of War 988 Desktop PC - Newegg.com (iBUYPOWER Core 2 Quad 8GB DDR3 750GB HDD Capacity Desktop PC Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Battle Gear X3 - Newegg.com same one but has some feedback) purchased 6/2009. All of the basic hardware is original, except for the stuff listed in the Other Info section below.

? Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)?
-pre-installed in the computer IIRC

? Age of system (hardware)
-2009?

? Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS?
-2009? No reinstall if memory serves me right

? CPU
-Core 2 Quad Q8300

? Video Card
-Sparkle 9600GT SPARKLE SX96GT2048D2-HP GeForce 9600 GT 2GB 256-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - Newegg.com (may possibly be a 2GB, but I haven't looked at in a long time, I'll double check tomorrow)

Ever since I built my rig a year ago, I've been plagued by these issues:
Random freezing (often times accompanied by a loud, scratching/buzzing noise coming from the speakers/headphones)
Random restarts
Power cycles a lot before POST.
Freezes at "Preparing Automatic Repair" and PC promptly restarts automatically; sometimes freezes at Windows logo (need to manually restart)
Note that these issues don't always appear. Sometimes I can go for a week without issues. Sometimes I get 5-10 power cycles in one day. When they do happen, they cause a minor 2-3 minute inconvenience. But it is annoying since my games work is interrupted.

Things I've tried (not in order):
Set CPU speed to stock, issues still present. No problems running prime95. OC is also stable with prime95. Tested GPU with Unigine's Heaven, temperatures were fine.
Monitored temperatures during freezing using HWiNFO. It's stable, but it's also hard to simulate the conditions for freezing/crashing. It's completely random.
BIOS update to v1.9 aggravates the freezing/random restarts. v1.8 keeps freezing/restarting at startup. v1.7 is what I have and is "stable".
Reinstalled OS, problems still present.
Moved GPU to another PCI slot, no change.
Breadboarded without the GPU, I can see artifacts on the screen when it freezes wh... Read more

Question: loud fan sound

Hey, this has started a few days ago. My computer is making a really loud fan noise. Not all the time but their doesn't seem to be a correlation between what i'm running and the noise. I have a feeling that it's the power supply because when I turn my PC off it keeps on going for a few minutes after the computer is shut down

Answer:loud fan sound

firstly see if you can test all of the fans as they may be dieing depending on how old the system is, if you are having probles with it shutting down it could either be a problem with software, hard drive or power supply, see if you can test those things to determine which is causing the problem

Recently purchased a new system and ran Aida32 to check it out. I installed the codec from the manufacturer's website (Sis.com) and i have an SiS 7012 Audio device. Problem is, the sound is pathetically low, even when i have the volume to the maximum. Please help, ive downloaded other codecs and drivers and nothing, plus the website wont even help... What can i do? This is so frustrating. Thanks

Also, I tried my speakers on another pc and they worked fine.

Answer:PC fan very loud, No sound

- Windows Update is "causing problems" lately.
- Open Task Manager (Processes tab) and let it show EVERY running process. Open Task Manager (Services tab), highlight "Wuauserv", right click, select "Go to Process". Then Task Manager opens the "Processes" tab again and highlights one of the "Scvhost.exe" processes. If that one process uses A LOT OF CPU then you've got a "Windows Update" problem.

Hi everyone,

this is my first post on these boards. I have a problem with my sound card... the sound simply isn't as loud as what it was with windows xp. Back to then I had my old pc I tried to install windows vista (with audigy 2 soundcard) and had the same problem... the playback sound isn't loud... I'm using my headset, everything is maxed and it feels like something is muted, it is nowhere from being loud.

Now I just bought the an Acer PC with Q6600 CPU and Realtek HD audio on-board sound. I formatted the drive and installed my own win vista 64-bit (to remove the 32-bit version) and it's the same, it's not loud at all.

Can anyone help me, thanks!

Answer:Sound isn't as loud as XP

I just got a Toshiba Satellite laptop with the RealTek sound also, and I noticed the same thing. When I use Skype to talk with someone, I have no choice but to attach speakers. I would be interested in knowing if this is a universal problem with Vista. It doesn't seem to be the speakers themselves, because when I go through the diagnostics, the sound comes out fine.
