250 G4 Touchpad, enable/disable

Question: 250 G4 Touchpad, enable/disable

Our organization recently invested in a large batch of 250 G4 notebooks. I'm wondering if there's a way to quickly enable/disable the touchpad, modify something in our group policy, or distribute a driver update or something to allow for this option. Due to the environment many of our staff are working in (frequently out in the community or even operating off of mobile hotspots in their parked vehicle), many users don't use a mouse, but would like the option to turn the touchpad off while typing to avoid misplacing the cursor. Naturally, they'll need the ability to easily turn the touchpad back on without the use of a mouse in this case. As a result, I don't see navigating to the mouse settings to disable the touchpad as being a viable option, as they wouldn't have the ability to turn it back on when they were done typing. I'm used to seeing a Fn + F key option to disable the touchpad, but this doesn't seem to be available on this model. Is there a solution that would result in functionality with that level of simplicity? If not, what other options are there?

Preferred Solution: 250 G4 Touchpad, enable/disable

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Purchased Flex 2 15  end  of December 2014.  The PC Settings says it is an IDEAPAD U430p..It has a TouchScreen, a DVD Drive, OS 8.1  Product # 20405 Touchpad currently causes cursor to jerk all over the screen and inserts type all over the document.  I don't want to disable the touchpad permanently - sometimes I find myself without my mouse. All other F keys work as they should.  I desperately need to be able to enable / disable the touchpad with F6 Would appreciate help....................thanks.

Answer:FLEX 2 15-F6 KEY DOES NOT ENABLE / DISABLE TOUCHPAD

I too have Lenovo Flex 2-15. To disable touchpad, I just press F6 key - NOT Fn+F6, just F6 by itself. Press F6 again to re-enable. So it works as advertised. There are lots of crazy solutions out there (TouchFreeze, playing with Device Manager etc) but I don't need them.

Hi,

I recently used a projector that plugged into my computer. Once I got the projector to work, my touchpad mouse on my laptop stoppd working, but I didn't think anything of it and just plugged in a wireless mouse with USB and my mouse worked again.

Now, I can't figure out how to get my touchpad working again, so I am thinking it is just a simple enable/disable option.

Help?

Thanks.

Hello, I have bought new Lenovo E550 with preinstalled Windows 7. It is working fine but there is missing hotkey for turn off/on touchpad.UltraNAV driver is installed, but there is not quick option for turn off/on touchpad. Before ( other models Lenovo notebooks ) there was Fn+F8 key but now F8 key is for WIFI on/off.There is only one way how to do it: START\Control Panel\Mouse\ULTRANAV and manualy check/uncheck option for turn on/off the touchpad. But this is not comfortable. The question is: Is there any other quick option for turn off/on touchpad?Thank you Mathieu

Answer:Hotkey to enable/disable touchpad on E550

Hi Raven450,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums!

You could consider disabling the synaptic pointing device in device manager while you have a USB mouse attached or if you are using the trackpad.

Also you can look into the below given link for further steps:
https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht075599

Please write back, whether the above steps helped you.
Thank you, have a good day.

Hi,

I like to do maths exercises from online portal; so i keep my exercise book on the palmrest of my laptop and practise. But it presses keys and touchpad clicks. I use a external mouse to scroll the web page.

So I need a small utility which will allow me to disable/enable the built-in keyboard and touchpad only, with a mouse click.

Is there anything that can suffice my need?

I'm using dell inspiron 7537 with win8.1.

When writing a lot on the keyboard on my T560, I keep getting into situations where the cursor just jumps around wildly and all of a sudden I find myself on a completely different line in the paragraph than where I'd like to be. It's really very annoying and lowers productivity. It's even worse when I find myself in a spreadsheet application such as Excel.  My previous laptop had a button on top of the touchpad that easily allowed me to turn the touchpad on and off, mitigating such problems. Unfortunately, the only way I could find to turn off the touchpad on my T560 is by going through the control panel or to turn it off permanently in the BIOS. That's not at all convenient.  Do you know of some easier way to turn off the touchpad temporarily? A key combination or a tray icon would be my preferred solutions.

So I needed to use my touchpad instead of my external wireless mouse and went in to setting to enable it. Under setting in Mouse and Touchpad .. there was nothing even referring to a touchpad and when I clicked on additional mouse options the only thing it gave options for is my wireless mouse. So I checked in Device Manager and under Mouse  the only thing it shows is HID compliant mouse. So I realized the driver was gone for the touchpad. I checked in programs and it showed the Synaptics touchpad in the list. So I uninstalled it ~ Restarted the Computer and came to HP to download the correct driver. I downloaded it and allowed HP to help in the process. Restarted the computer as it asked. Once again it showed in the programs list but not in Device Manager under Mice nor in Settings under mouse and touchpad.  So I again Uninstalled it. Went back to HP drivers for Mouse and saw that it had an option for previouse version. I downloaded it allowing again HP to guide the installation and restarted the computer. This time It showed up in programs, device manager, and settings. However in settings there was no option to enable or disable it even under additional mouse options. So I went to Device Manager right clicked on the synaptics driver and chose update driver. It showed that it was updating the driver and once done to restart which I did. Once again synaptics showed in programs but not in device manage and no touchpad option in settings again. Can som... Read more

Q. How do you get the little button bellow the spacebar to work on a Port?g? R830-13C laptop?

There is a button bellow the spacebar on Port?g? R830-13C laptop; that seems to indicate its ability to enable and disable touchpad. It does not work.

Pressing FN + F9 (buttons together [F9] has the same icon) - Works!

Answer:Portg R830-13C (touchpad enable/disable button)

its built into the fn key functions using the toshiba flash cards utility. download and install the latest version of flashcards and see if that cures it

the fact that it works through fn f9 combo tho makes me think you have a faulty button unfortunately

for reference, mine works fine under both fn f9 and the dedicated button

do the two buttons on the top of the keyboard work? they are also flashcard controlled iirc?

It has all gone well except the Windows install has left me to find the drivers myself. Does anyone know where to find the touch pad driver that allows you switch it on and off (using the button under the space bar)?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

All Toshiba drivers can be found on the Toshiba EU driver page.
I assume the button near the touchpad is controlled by Toshiba Value Added Package as well as the touchpad driver.

I just ordered this laptop and got it today. Powered it up tried to use the touchpad for the setup stuff, saw no pointer, got no response using it, so just hit enter for everything to get me through everything. Once it was ready for use I plugged in my wireless mouse. It works, went and downloaded the latest touchpad driver for windows 8, still no luck. Went to the control panel, I cant even click on the option to enable or disable the touchpad. Tried contacting lenovo support, was on person number 4 and just gave up because none of them seemed to understand what was going on or how to connect me to the proper person. I simply want to do the equivalent of "Disable IMAPI Service (Work's in most cases)" back in the days of Win XP

So in Win 7, I found the above link, and the title says How to Disable a CD Burning Group Policy

but at the bottom, it says ENABLE

Is microsoft saying "Enabling Remove CD burning feature"?
Or is disable means really disable CD burning feature?

Answer:Does Disable CD burning policy at Win 7 means Enable or Disable?

The option is "Remove CD Burning Features" and the selection you want is Enabled which means ""Remove CD Burning Features are now enabled" hence they are removed and burning is not allowed.

Yes, I agree, Microsoft does choose some rather stupid terminology to do some things, especially the file copy/overwrite dialogues which can be truly confusing for some people.

It would have been more efficient and simple to name the option "CD Burning Features" and that is either enabled or disabled, but no... they gotta make it twist in on itself with semantic bullshit.

The whole enabled/disabled thing would be better served with simple yes or no choices.

I'm certain I'm not the only person with this problem.
Bluetooth is installed on my Samsung laptop running the latest version of Windows 10. Here's the problem: every so often a routine Windows update totally disables Bluetooth, or rather, prevents it from being discovered. It's there, but isn't recognised in Settings. It's hidden in Device Manager. So it's gone, dead, unusable, can't be made to connect or even to be visible.
Then another Microsoft update comes along after a few days or a week or a month, and suddenly all is well again! As if by magic, Bluetooth reappears in the systems tray and works like a charm, as if it had never gone away.
This is happening constantly. It's flip-flopped like this about five or six times. Windows update, no Bluetooth. Next Windows update, Bluetooth is back. Another Windows update, Bluetooth is gone again.
This is ridiculous. Windows needs to solve this anomaly. Look online and you will see that many people are experiencing it. Oh, and by the way I've followed every fix, every tutorials, nothing works. The only thing that works is to wait for the next blinkin' Windows update to fix it.
And, since opening my computer this morning after the most recent update, to find Bluetooth has once again vanished, that's what I guess I have to do -- wait for the next update and hope it includes a fix. (Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.)
This is NOT a problem with my laptop or with the driver or anything like that. This is a Windows update problem... Read more

Type "synaptic"
Double Click "SmartSense"
Slide the Slider all the way to "Off"
Click "Close" and then "OK"

This will Disable the Anti-Palm detection which prevents simultaneous Keyboard and Mouse use. I recommend you re-enable this feature when you're not gaming as otherwise you risk problems while typing.

I'm so frustrated I'm about to throw the laptop into the wall. I keep disabling the touchpad tapping from the mouse ultranav settings on this t430u but it doesn't get disabled. As I keep working, the mouse keeps getting tapped and destroying everything and slowing me down.  Even tried disabling the touchpad altogether but it keeps on working.  Whats wrong? Answer:Can't disable the tapping on the touchpad or even the touchpad itself on the T430u?

What I do is install ThinkPad touchpad driver and uninstall thinkpad touchpad utility.  You may need to go to an older version of the driver, as Lenovo obviously doesn't bother with regression testing when releasing updated drivers.

Dell 2-in-1 3147:
The "DELL Pointing Devices" dialog shows a "Disable Touchpad when USB Mouse Present" checkbox. If this checkbox is clear, the touchpad works properly. When this checkbox is marked, the touchpad does not work at all.
I have tried both USB and Bluetooth mice, and neither one allows the proper action: the touchpad should be enabled without a mouse, and the touchpad should be disabled with a mouse.  That's how it works on other systems.  It just doesn't work at all on this system.
I suspect there is some interaction between the touchpad and the touchscreen that is interfering with this setting.  But I have another laptop with a touchpad and a touchscreen, and the mouse detection works there (it's not a DELL).
Yes, I have toyed with the idea of deleting the DELL touchpad control application and installing a "stock" Synaptics touchpad driver.  But I don't want the DELL  "update" app to overwrite it with the DELL touchpad control app every time it sees "the wrong driver" loaded.  And I don't want to take the chance that the touchpad driver and the touchscreen driver are somehow linked together, thus disabling one when I disable the other.
Any ideas on how to get the "Disable Touchpad when USB Mouse Present" action working would be welcome.

I just got my W540 last week, and the touchpad and trackpoint were both working fine.  However, I came in this morning to find that the touchpad was unresponsive. Going to the "ThinkPad" section of the mouse properties (Windows 7 Enterprise), showed all of the TouchPad settings greyed out, with the enable checkbox deselected (but, again, greyed out so I couldn't enable it).  The TrackPoint settings were still clickable, except for the enable/disable checkbox (selected, but greyed out so it couldn't be deselected). I verified that the TouchPad was enabled in the BIOS.  I've also now updated both the UltraNav driver and the BIOS to the latest versions available on the Lenovo site.  The UI for the ThinkPad tab in mouse settings is now different, but the result is the same.  The TouchPad portion is all greyed out and the only options for "Pointing Options" are "Use Classic TrackPoint Mode Only" and "Use TrackPoint Only".  I assume there should be more options there that enable the TouchPad. The two-finger scroll and zoom work still, so the touchpad is physically working.  I just can't get it to control my cursor... I need my TouchPad working to be productive.  Any suggestions? EDIT: booting to a live Debian USB has a fully functional touchpad, so I don't think it's likely to be a hardware issue.EDIT2: I've also tried completely uninstalling the untranav drivers, rebooting, then reinstalling them.  Also, I've do... The problem is that there is a slight latency after I pressed a certain key, so that when I try to use the touchpad right away, I can't, I have to wait a little. It is extremely annyoing, and I don't know why Lenovo came up with this by default without introducing an option to disable/enable it. If I press alt+tab, for instance, the touchpad is blocked and I have to take my hand off of it in order to use it again. It's quite ridiculous.I've been searching in the mouse driver of course, but haven't found anything related to this (in linux, for instance, the option exists - in Ubuntu is on by default, for instance, but you come across the option right away if you enter the mouse configuration). Do you have any suggestions? Thanks

Answer:Enable Touchpad while typing

All right, have found a solution into the mouse driver after all. I've searched the forum and found out that PalmCheck did the trick and there's a sensitivity bar that can be modified according to how fast you want your touchpad to react after you struck a key. Sorry for post unnecessary, but I did search for some time, and only now did I find what I was looking for.

Answer:How do i enable scrolling on touchpad

Have you downloaded any touchpad-associated software from the Dell site? They may have adapted the Synaptics driver themselves."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Pink Floyd

On my Dell Alienware m14x it seems that I can not find a way to disable the feature that enables a delay between the time you can click or move on the touchpad to when you can press a key. Meaning, if I quickly stop typing and attempt to move my touchpad, I must wait a couple of seconds before my touchpad enables itself again. Very annoying. This feature was added to stop people from accidently pressing the pad while typing.

Answer:How to enable use of the touchpad while typing

Touchpads are always enabled all of the time. If it is a Synaptics Touchpad, you can tweak the various settings.

Hi all, I'm new to sevenforums, so I'm sorry if this is not the right place for this question. Basically, I just got a new laptop and started doing a little gaming (KOTOR and Battlefront II), the only problem is those games use awsd to move and the touchpad to look around and I can't use the touchpad while using the keyboard. Is there any way to enable touchpad use while using the keyboard? And an external mouse would do no good as I have no where to put it.

Thanks.

Answer:How do I enable my touchpad while using my keyboard?

There is a option in the touchpad settings called "palm check" that disables touchpad input while typing. Disable it, and you should be all set.

Answer:How to ENABLE touchpad while typing?

What you want to do is move the PalmCheck settings to minimum. You will need to go to Start, type "Mouse" in the Search bar, click on Mouse in the search results, click on the Device Settings tab in the Mouse Properties window, Click on the Settings button, click the expand for Pointing, the expand for Sensitivity, Select PalmCheck, and move the bar in the upper right window down to Minimum, then click Apply!

I have Avasta security and for some reason my firewall is diable and I can't seem to enable it.Problems will programs wanting update that I don't seem to have. Then computer did a correction restore and disable my firewall and I can't get it enabled.

Answer:Firewall disable can't enable it

When you install Avast Internet Security it automatically disables the Windows Firewall because Avast has it's own firewall and you don't need them both. If you have two firewalls running it can cause conflicts and internet access problems.message edited by phil22

Hi Guys,I've got a Dell Latitude D830 laptop that has a built in (officially undisclosed) microphone that I want to be able to enable or disable with an icon to a simple batch file. Right now the only way to disable it is by going into the BIOS or going in the Device Manager and disable it there.I only need it when I want to use Skype, otherwise I want to turn it off i.e. disable it.Can someone tell me how can you enable or disable a device from the command line?Geza

Answer:Q: How to disable/enable a device on the fly?

Double Clicking the speaker icon in the system tray and muting the microphone is not good enough? Why on earth would you need to disable the microphone?By disabling it in the BIOS, you are completely removing the microphone from the start-up procedure. You cannot do this 'on the fly' within Windows.

Hi,

My IE has been really alow lately. I cleaned out my temp files, ran a couple spyware/malware programs but it still seems a little sluggish. Somebody had mentioned to me to disable plug-ins that you dont need, but I am not sure which ones are necessary/unnecessary. Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Thanks

Answer:How do I know what IE Plug-ins to enable/disable?

Well that is down to the individual.

Ask yourself what plugins do you use?

Could you post a screenshot of your plugins?

I use my Win Vista laptop at home and the office.

I use wifi at home and wired lan at the office. My laptop does have any settings in the TCP/IP properties. Everything is at default.

Every time I I try to use it at the office I have to disable and reenable the Lan connection from Manage networks, otherwise I do not get Net connectivity (except local lan).

No problem at home.

Since everything is default it picks up my IP from DHCP and gets other settings same way.

Why do I have to Disable and Enable the Lan connection before it starts accessing the Net.

Answer:Enable /disable Lan connection

If you put the laptop to Sleep or Hibernation before disconnecting the cable that may the cause. Try disconnecting the cable first.

The adapter/computer may not be "signing off" the network properly. Make sure you have the latest ethernet driver.

If the laptop is not rebooted from one day to the next, and
the work router or server is reset while the laptop is away, and
the lease time is long enough for the computer to think it still deserves the "old" IP, then that is a problem. Ask the network administrator to shorten the lease time, or shut down when you transport the machine, or live with your work around.

Is there any way to enable/disable each USB port in motherboard in Hardware level.

Please Help

Answer:How to enable/disable each USB port

Many motherboards allow you to do this. Check the BIOS. Press DEL or F1 or Esc when you first turn on your PC. If it is not a name-brand (Dell, HP, etc) , its always DEL.

But USB ports are wired in pairs (usually), so you'll disable 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8

Hi,

noticed the other day when I was trying to minimize what I have on my C drive ssd that the pagefile took up around 11GB and I did a Google search but I don't feel that the answer I got from there enlighten-ed me at all, I'm still wondering what to do.

/BTA

Answer:Disable/Enable Pagefile?

You can easily change the size of the page file to something a lot smaller than 11 GB if you are concerned about space allotted to it.

Discussing whether or not to eliminate it entirely is useless. You can find opinions on either side, with each side positive that the other side is composed of morons. "I did X and haven't had any problems...........".

Would you spend much time trying to convince someone of anything about religion? If you would, then Google and experiment all you wish with the page file. Put it on some other drive, some other partition, make it any size you want, or do away with it entirely.

But don't expect to be "enlightened". Do what you want. If you don't like the results, do something else.

Hello, So my laptop has keyboard functionality to adjust brightness and etc with using F1...F12 keys. I actually like that. The problem is: when I play video games, I need to press those F1...F12 buttons quickly, but I need to press Fn key ALSO to use F1...F12 keys' normal functionality and it really annoys me. And YES, I KNOW THAT BIOS THING, but as I mentioned I like that functionality when not gaming so I don't want to restart everytime I exit/start my game. I have seen that some manufacturers' laptops have software support to disable/enable that feature temporarily without restarting and changing something in BIOS, but I haven't found anything like that on my HP LAPTOP, I AM REALLY TIRED OF THIS HP CRAP, MY LAPTOP HAS PROBLEMS IN EVERY STEP. if you can suggest something, thank you.

Just recently I disabled my internal mic in favor of an external mic. I tried to disable it the normal way but every time I kept disabling it, it would re-enable. I went to the administrator section to disable the internal mic that way and it worked, but it worked a little too well. Now when I go into my sound menu, it says no audio devices are installed. I can't simply right click and show disabled devices to re-enable it. I know this trick and it's not helping me. No devices are showing up either way. Now that I've done this, my external mic is not even working. Usually I can figure these types of things out on my own but this one is a whole different story. Please help!

Answer:Can't re-enable internal mic after disable

Turns out I actually got it working. By typing "internal" in the start menu search box, there is an option to find and fix problems. Luckily, it recognized shutting off your internal mic as a problem and it fixed it.

Ok, so at my job we just updated one of our servers. This server runs 2 websites in IIS, in addition to other things. The server currently has 3 nics in it. 2 onboard and one PCI-X. (I thought the problem I might be having would possibly be a flaky onboard nic, but that apparently is not the case. ) The PCI-X nic is used for external traffic to the 2 websites running in IIS. The server is Windows Server 2003 Enterprise if this helps.

Anyway, for some reason, at least once a day the sites just stop working from outside the network. From what I can tell the sites still work from inside the network for some reason but noone else outside our network can access them. The only way I've found to fix this problem is by disabling and reenabling the nic. Once I do this everything goes back to normal. But since I am able to access the site constantly at work, I never know when the sites are down unless someone complains to me or I check it myself.

Any ideas what would cause the inability to access the sites unless you disable/enable the nic?

(Sorry if this post is incoherent, will provide more details if asked)

Hi, a quick question. I've got an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe running an AMD 2800XP. The board features ASUS' CPU Overheating protection (C.O.P.). Can this be turned off/on or is it constantly on? I don't want to turn it off, just check it's enabled as I've had the CPU temperature jumping from the normal 53C to 61C today and the mobo from 32C to 40C.

I hope I am not duplicating something here. . . . I did look - Honest!

I ran into an interesting problem and found an easy fix.

First: I wanted to ENABLE AHCI because (supposedly) it improves HDD performance. (It also enables a host of other interesting features.)

I discovered the trick of setting the START paramater in the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\msahci
from "3" to "0" - and then making the switch in the BIOS.

I tried to switch back, and simply resetting this start value to "3" doesn't work.

The issue here is that there are actually TWO keys that control the IDE/AHCI interface choice:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\msahci
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\pciide
When the system is in IDE interface mode, the respective start values are:msahci's START value is "3"
pciide's START value is "0"
When the system is in AHCI interface mode, the respective start values are:msahci's START value is "0"
pciide's START value is "3"
It is entirely possible that setting the START value to zero in the key representing the interface type you wish to use, may cause the corresponding key in the other interface type to automagically switch to "3". I do not know this, nor have I tested it.

What works for me is setting both START values to the values that correspond to the interface I wish to use.

It should be trivially... Read more

Answer:Enable and/or Disable AHCI

Hi jharris. Welcome.

Quote:
First: I wanted to ENABLE AHCI because (supposedly) it improves HDD performance. (It also enables a host of other interesting features.)

For me, the reasons to enable AHCI are Native Command Queuing and Hot Swapping, hot swapping being the most important to me.

As far as switching back and forth, I could imagine issues arising from that (including confusion as to what mode I was running in at a given time...).

But if I needed to do it as a utility to convert drives to vhd's, I would consider a dual boot, with the AHCI disabled boot just a simple OS with whatever utilities I needed to get the job done. Keeping it simple would mean a quick boot to desktop and a small partition.

When I go to the Control Panel > Mouse, I get an error message that says that my laptop is not recognizing my touchpad.

It still lets me open the configure window if I hit "no," and when I go to Device Settings > Scrolling > One-Finger Scrolling, it does not let me check the "Enable Vertical Scrolling" box. When I click the box, nothing happens.

My Synaptics driver is enabled to turn on at start up, so I don't know why this problem is happening.

I think I must have disabled something in msconfig without realizing it, because one day when I turned on my laptop I just wasn't able to use vertical scrolling. Any ideas? Advice would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Answer:How do I enable touchpad vertical scrolling?

Hello moonlightxmania and welcome to Seven Forums.

If this issue just recently started you may be able to roll back your computer to a date/time prior to when it first began. See if you have a restore point that goes back that far.

System Restore

Another possibility is to see if you can update the Synaptics driver. Just as an example, my computer uses the Alps pointing device. When I go to control panel > mouse I get this:

When I click the Hardware tab and then double click on Alps pointing device I get this:

Click on the Driver tab and see if the "Update Driver" button can be clicked. (Mine is grayed out because I have the newest available driver.) If you can update the driver, do so. Please post back if your problem gets resolved.

Hello,

I just newly installed Windows 7 on my C850-1F2. To get the installation to complete, I had to disable all unneeded devices in the BIOS, including the internal pointing device/touchpad. After this, the installation went smoothly and I subsequently installed all corresponding drivers (downloaded from Toshiba) manually.

All devices could be installed and are functioning correctly - except for the touchpad.
If I enable the touchpad in the BIOS again, Windows won't boot. It just stops at the "Windows is starting" screen - it's not even freezing (the animation keeps looping), it just won't continue. Booting in Safe mode, it will also stop after loading all drivers. I had the laptop running all night to see if I was just being too impatient, but to no avail.

The system also won't detect the touchpad. The device manager only displays the USB mouse I connected or nothing at all. When accessing the 'Mouse' settings, the system will first ask me whether I want to deinstall the existing Synaptics drivers. I tried that as well, reinstalling both Toshiba and the Synaptics generic driver, but no touchpad.

If I use FN+F5 to enable the touchpad (while previously disabled in the BIOS), I merely disable the keyboard. The touchpad won't work. However, I have to disable it again, then put the laptop into standby and wake it up again in order for the keyboard to work again.
Furthermore, if I reboot after using fn+f5, the touchpad is enabled in the BIOS again and Win... Read more

Answer:Satellite C850-1F2 - cannot enable touchpad

>To get the installation to complete, I had to disable all unneeded devices in the BIOS, including the internal pointing device/touchpad.
I have installed Win7 many times but I never heard about something like this and I?ve always installed it after BIOS was set to default settings so I don?t understand this ?theory? and cannot understand why you have done this.

Anyway, if nothing works well I strongly recommend you to set BIOS to default settings and then install own Win7 version. I hope you use original Microsoft installation disc and not some ?self made? stuff.

I don?t think there is some magic trick that can solve your problem.

Hi

I recently bought a new Satellite Pro A200-1mi (psae7e). Thing is that while I was using it initially there was this assist in the beginning which enabled us to use the hotkey (fn+keys) on the screen.
It was at the top of the screen.

So I clicked on the tab to disable my touchpad but now I can't seem to enable the touchpad and accidently closed this hotkey assist also.

So tried everything to enable the touchpad again; driver reinstalled, tried installing touchpad on/off and everything...

Please help me.
If there is any questions please do ask..
I am really hoping that someone would find a answer for me.

Thanks in advance,
Sabil

Answer:Satellite Pro A200-1MI: How to enable the touchpad again

Hello Sabil

You can start Flash cards again: Start > All Programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Settings for Flash Cards. Open these settings and remove check mark in front of disable option.
I hope you will be able to use Flash cards again.

I'll make the question at short and sweet as possible. I have two programs (FaxTalk and WinPage) that both use the modem. I keep FaxTalk running in the background most of the time.

During the day, I need to use WinPage to send text pages to co-workers. To do this I have to close FaxTalk, start WinPage and send the pages, Close Winpage, and restart FaxTalk.

The reason that I must do this is because FaxTalk "grabs" the port and if FaxTalk is open Winpage gives me the error, "Error Opening Com Port! Port Id=-3". It does not work the other way around (ie have WinPage open 1st, then open Faxtalk and get an error from Faxtalk). I assume this is because Winpage just sits there and does not lock onto the modem port until it actually goes to send the page, and FaxTalk continuously is monitoring the port for incoming calls. So I was just wondering....

Is there a way to maybe assign an "alias" port id to the modem for one of the applications, temporarity disable the lock that FaxTalk has over the port, give WinPage priority over the port, or something similar. Any Ideas or suggestions.

Thank you,
John R.

Answer:Solved: Enable / Disable Modem ???

Ratman,

I think that the way you are handling it presently is the way that you are going to have to do it. It appears to be a shortcoming in the way the application was written.

Does anyone knows how to solved this? I couldn't even change any of this settings here in this tab. Please Help

Answer:Unable to disable or enable Enhancement Tab

Do you have generic, MS drivers for Realtek or Realtek's own ?
You can find newest and older drivers here: Realtek
With Realtek drivers you will have it's own settings in Control Panel where everything can be set more precisely.

Anyone know of an easier way to disable or enable bluetooth on the Y2P?   Possibly a shortcut?   I wish they still had the toggle key on the keyboard.  Switching from my bluetooth headphones to laptop speakers is such a chore... and I do it several times each day.  Any help is much appreciated

Hey, Because i have a question like a topic said, so i don't open the new post to asking for, There i have the case that i needed is disable all the USB port and only leave one for use. I have been pay a long day to search a way to do this. I mostly found out the way is disable all of that. But my case is just for one, so it is not matching my requirement. I already try out the USBDeview, But is seem like to disable the device that your won't let it connect to your computer, and i is not want all the USB Storage connect for. And as Phantom010 mention to disable the USB Hub, it also seen nothing happen when i disabled.

I also know the method to turning off via the physical way for example to disable on BIOS, or unplug the USB hub. But those not i want to. i just need a software or window OS method to disable the USB port. Do anyone can help?

Sorry for my terrible English.

Answer:Re:Can I disable/enable a single USB port only?

I moved your thread here while the topic is really the same the reasons are different and you will get better response from a new thread rather than dragging back am old one.
Sorry I am really struggling with your English and I know you are trying but there really is no effective way I know of to close 1 usb port. You probably can disable all the Usb ports in the bios or pull a plug off the motherboard that is clearly marked "Usb" to disable the front ports.

My computer started acting funny after watching videos online and getting tons of pop-ups. Some of which claimed I could have a potential virus. Now I know this came from a site and I should never read into it. but it had me wondering.
Then i noticed all of sudden some of the websites I was looking at like would stop opening and would be unavailble.
Now I have AVG Virus Protection on my computer. It is letting me know that my PC health is not good cause the administrative share is enabled and it says I should disable it.
i do not fully understand what this means and why this was an issue in the first place. What should I do? Do I enable or disable and why?

I'm running Windows 7 with a GTX 480. It has three connected monitors but only two can be enabled at any given time.

Are there any command-line (or GUI) tools to enable/disable my monitor configuration? For example, I want monitors 1 and 2 enabled and then with a hot-key change it to monitors 2 and 3.

UltraMon does this but it has a ton of features that I don't need/want. I just want something simple...

Answer:How can I enable/disable a third monitor in Windows 7?

Windows key and P key?
