Beats Audio makes sound crackling

Question: Beats Audio makes sound crackling

It started 2 months ago... If my laptop is making instant internet-activities (like multiplayer-games, YouTube, or downloads), the sound is crackling. And it's because of the Beats Audio driver.I found out, because, when i'm using microsoft standard sound-drivers or realtek drivers without HP Beats modification, the crackling disappears. Where can I get an older Beats Audio-driver for my laptop? Or how can I fix it but still use Beats Audio? Others have the same problem: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Crackling-sound-on-Pavilion-X360/td-p/3849598 HP Pavilion 17Windows 10 (clean installed + necessary drivers) Best regards,Angela Merkel :3 :* <3

Preferred Solution: Beats Audio makes sound crackling

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,I have a HP-Pavilion m7-1015dx. It's 5 yrs old. My speakers were working just fine when suddenly I saw that the beats audio left speaker suddenly started crackling. I then checked and I found out that when I increased the bass in the beats audio control panel, the crackling increased. I tried troubleshooting and disabling and enabling the audio driver but nothing happened. What should I do?P.S. The right speaker is working just fine.

It's a new Dell and it has been making crackling sound since I got it.
I spent an hour on the phone with a technician who restored the laptop with Windows 8.1 to an earlier point in time and it stopped crackling for the rest of the day, but the next day, the noise was back.
The worst are "ding" sounds, they have more crackle than ding. Video playback is bad but at least we can understand what is said. Youtube is bad. mp3 audio is bad. Crackle is there with earphones too.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 11 (3147, Mid 2014) makes crackling sound whenever sound is played

lelouIt's a new Dell and it has been making crackling sound since I got it.
Hello. If it made the noise right out of the box you probably should have returned it as defective during the brief return period.
Does it make the noise only when running on battery power or also when plugged into house current?

product number is G6R97UA#ABA My computer does not play very low frequency sounds through the headphone jack. When using the same headphones or speakers on my phone I can hear lower frequencies. When I go to the Beats audio control panel and turn off beats audio, it just removes all bass whatsoever. It also has some kind of automatic volume thing that turns the volume back up on applications when i turn the volume down. These are interfering with my  music production. Is there any way to turn this "feature" off and use the default windows sound equalization tools?

I have an audio problem, then before upgrading to Windows 10 or the anniversary update the audio working properly after updating I noticed right away that the sound is cracklingthis problem it is tied to the bass itfor example it happens when I'm watching a video on youtube and step to another video without pausing the video the other videos that I will see will have this problem of crackling and the only way to "solve" this problem is to stop Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation (audiodg.exe).But after the problem recurs. happens very often and it is very annoying my sound system is IDT DTS Sound + I tried to reinstall the drivers with the latest version and I also formatted the pc but no dice the problem persists ...I only noticed that the problem is more "feel " when the bass setting is higher or when I change the audio setting to my likingespecially the problem plaguing the 62Hz and 125hz channelsI kindly ask for help has also become really annoying because without my custom settings is really horrible. Also here are not the only one with the same problem since it's full of people who complain, please push the update to sp71717 driver to a solution.Thanks.

So I just recently uninstalled some unwanted apps and services on my laptop, when I was done I noticed the sound quality was awful for my music (It sounded perfect before this).  After trying to figure out what was wrong i noticed my beats audio wasnt on my task bar anymore.  So i searched for it in my computor and noticed it was gone.  I believe this is why the sound quality is so bad.  I have been trying to find a driver for this on google and couldnt find anything.  I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get this back.  Thanks for any feedback!

I have a HP Zbook 15 G3 along with a HP Envy 24 inch IPS monitor with Beats Audio.  The sound comes out of the laptop 95% of the time.  I bought the monitor because of its internal speakers.  I have tried everything and have called HP support and then it works where the sound comes from the monitor,  but then after I turn off my computer or restart it, the sound then once again comes from the laptop.  It is frustrating.  I do have a HDMI cable plugged in.   The normal trouble shooting has been done.   Any help would be great?

Since my upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 (64-bit) I have absolutely no sound what so ever from my laptop. This is a recently purchased:  HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p245sa (ENERGY STAR) with built in beats audio speakers. The laptop does not recognise that there is a sound problem, my speaker shows as Realtek High Definition Audio. Shouldn't this be Beats Audio? I can access Beats Audio but on right clicking to show sound devices only Realtek appears and is the default speaker. My HP assistant doesn't recognise any issues either and I'm now worried I've lost Beats Audio. Windows 10 has been a real hinderance so far- No sound, no Netflix, No YouTube and no iTunes.

Answer:No Sound or Beats Audio after Windows 10 update

having the same issue here... I lost sound in windows 8.1 a few weeks ago and thought this might fix it. I get sound during start up...then nothing. Is it the same for you?

Hello,Wondering if anyone can help me: recently my desktop just developed sound crackling/distortion through headphones and speakers (all audio devices work perfectly on other devices such as phones, laptops, other desktops...).The crackling worsens when more work is being done, especially when playing a game e.g. Subnautica, Overwatch... or watching 1080p 60fps videos whilst performing other tasks such as updates. The lastest GeForce Game Ready driver is installed. As well as crackling and popping sounds, the audio will sometimes stutter, speed up or slow down.I recently upgraded from a 300W PSu to a 450W Psu, because I realised the instructions that came with EVGA Nvidia GT740 GPU advised a minimum 400W PSu and I was under the impression that maybe the PSu was straining. No improvement. Was any damage already done? I was using 300W with this GPU for about 4 months before switching PSu's. The problem started about a week ago.I've heard of a range of possible causes - from drivers being executed for too long, to the motherboard being on its last legs. I'm not sure how to go about this though... I'm sorry if this should be in Software instead of Hardware.  Hope this was informative. If you need anything else, please ask. All desktop specs are listed on my profile summary. Many thanks,

Check that either in the bios or in a program that start with Windows, that no cpu throttling is happening.

(Commonly called Speedstep, Cool n Quiet or things like that in the bios.)

Every time I reboot it seems I lose my audio on my sound blaster x-fi titanium pci express sound card. Also; it seems like every time I turn my audio controller off for awhile then back on; i get at high pitched hum sound and then when i try and play something I get crackling audio. What the heck is up with windows 10 and these issues? Ive never had these problems with my sound card under windows 7. Why cant creative get off their duff and come out with the new software and drivers for these cards? I mean they had months before w 10 came out to prepare for this but did they do it......nope! its really driving me nuts!!! anyone have a workaround for this until creative gets their crap in gear?

Answer:constant audio crackling and no sound!

Do you have the proper drivers installed for your card?. I have a Creative card too (built-in Sound Blaster Recon 3Di) and I had to install the w7/w8 drivers. According to Creative webpage proper w10 drivers will be released around end of august/september.

Answer:AUDIO: Sound crackling/distortion

From dictation.Hello, I see that this thread has been posted in hardware. Crackle snap pop noises in sound almost always come from some kind of hardware problem. So some questions about your hardware needed to be answered. Is this computer one that you have built yourself? Or did somebody else assemble it for you? Either way, did this problem always appear from the beginning?Let's just say that your video card is the problem. If so, then removing the video card and going back to built-in graphics should resolve the issue. Would you like to give that a try?Now let's consider another way to prove that it's not software. If you're using Windows 10, you can make a portable Windows 10 operating system that sits on a USB drive. That option is called Windows to go. Look around and you should find it somewhere on your system. If you can use that, reboot your computer and have it boot up Windows to go from the USB device. Then try listening to some music or watch a video. You should be able watch videos without doing any installation of anything. The Windows to go will have a slightly different set of drivers than your standard Windows. The Windows to go drivers should be as good as the drivers you are already have. If it is a software issue, then the problem should go away when you boot up a slightly different version of Windows. Well, at least that's what I think. But let's say that neither of the above resulted in anything positive. So now some questions a... Read more

First of all, the problem occurred after upgrading to Win10. What I noticed first was that strange looking audio driver(FIRST PICTURE BELOW). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver but it only dissapeared and appeared looking the same. Another thing I have noticed was that I don't see the Beats audio icon to adjust some settings. I did installed it and maybe I heard a slight difference. But the sound was low. I tried solutions I could find here(HP forums) that were related to my problem. But none of them fixed my problem, only installed the Beats audio drivers(which is good). After opening device manager I saw this(I opened it after all the installations I made)The properties of High Definition Augio Device It would be great if someone of the experts here could help me out. Or maybe some customers have encountered similar problem and fixed it.

Answer:Cannot hear sound from the main speaker(Beats audio)

Hi: The High Definition Audio device is the Intel HDMI audio device that needs a driver installed.  It has nothing to do with the Beats Audio not working. Here's what I recommend you do to install the Intel HD audio device with the ! mark. Download and install this free file utility.  The 2nd file on the top of the page is for 64 bit. http://www.7-zip.org/ After you install 7-Zip, download and save, but do not run the Intel graphics driver on your notebook's support page. This package provides the driver that enables the Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72370.exe Right click on the sp72370 driver file you saved. Select 7-Zip from the list of items on the menu. Have 7-Zip Extract to:  and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp72370). Once 7-Zip has created the driver folder, go to the device manager and click on the problem HD audio device. Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder 7-zip created.  Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.  Then restart the PC. The only suggestion I can... Hello All, I have owned a HP Pavilion DV6-6C57NR with Beats Audio for over a year. A Couple of weeks ago my computer crashed in a big way so I reinstalled Windows 7. I figured out all of my drivers and my Sound Works fine (Except that [Fn] + B Doesn't Turn on and off Beats). The only problem is that I no longer have access to the Enhancements Tab in Windows Sound  I use the Volume Equalizer in loud rooms all the time. Any help to get it back would be appreciated. Sincerely,H

Answer:IDT Audio (Beats) Missing Enhancements Tab in Windows Sound ...

Hi, Whether or not you have the 'Enhancements' tab is down to the particular audio driver that's installed - some allow this feature and some do not. Try the following. Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55094.exe When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall. When complete, restart the notebook. Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, check if you have the Enhancements tab back. Note:  If you want the fn+B combination to work correctly, you'll need to download and install HP Quick Launch from the link below. HP Quick Launch Buttons. When the installation has completed, restart the notebook before checking. Regards, DP-K

I've been suffering with this issue since I bought this laptop.  I've tried all of the "troubleshooting" suggestions, updated drivers and BIOS, did a plethora of research, and even waited for Windows 10 to come to hopefully get a updated driver with a fix for it.  However, the fluctuation in sound quality as well as muffled bass and overall terrible sound quality is never fixed.  THIS IS DEFINITELY A DRIVER (SOFTWARE) ISSUE! The question I have is, will this issue--which has been recorded in this forum since 2011-12--ever get fixed?!  Of course, I can go to Device Manager and choose the "High Definition Audio Device" driver of the sound section from Microsoft and remedy this issue, but Iose most of my internal speakers' power and quality on my Envy 15t laptop.  I lose the play of the subwoofer as well as two of the four other speakers.  It's like I have to choose external sound quality over internal sound quality, which I shouldn't have to AT ALL. So, one more time, the question: Will this issue ever get fixed?!

Hey, well my audio suddenly started crackling a few days ago. I reformatted around the same day it started crackling, so it SEEMS that's what caused it. This has happened to me before, and I remember fixing it, but I don't remember what I did.

I have reinstalled the Realtek audio drivers to the latest from my computer manufacturers website (Acer) and Realtek's website too. Both without success. Though, after reinstalling from the Realtek's site, it worked for the whole uptime of that session. Then this morning it started crackling again. It's very ironic that as I'm writing this the sound has miraculously improved, i'm sure my computer likes making me think i'm crazy XD (but it's still crackling).

I'm just stumped with what to do next.. I've disabled all enhancements via the "Sound" place on Windows, and adjusted settings in Quicktime. (Though I don't know if their correct now.. any way of knowing what Hz my speakers best support, and what Bit? Thanks alot).

So any solutions would be very very helpful. My system is also up to date with all updates from Microsoft. Service Pack 2 as well. (That took a few days alone to download them all:P)

Here are my specs if needed:

OS: Microsoft Windows Vista SP2 32 Bit

Processor: Intel Core Duo T2350 @ 1.86GHz 46 ?C

First - that temperature looks fine to me - slightly high but still fine.

Second - that crackling you hear is probably hardware related.

So yeah, my audio has a tendency to crackle lately, and sometimes Windows Media Player stutters, slows and glitches up, particularly when running something like Windows Live Messenger. I'm assuming its something to do with my sound driver/audio device, since I only just formatted my PC and reinstalled Windows. Is there anything I can do to improve it?

My driver is the ALi Audio Accelerator WDM driver, if that helps.

Answer:Improving my sound driver/audio crackling

Other than checking your soundcard manufacturers website for an updated driver, I'd check your volume levels. just DOUBLE-Click the little speaker icon down by the clock to bring up windows volume controls and click Options then properties and make sure all boxes are checked on that window then click Ok. now all available volume levels for your card will be displayed on the volume control window for you to adjust. also if you click the options menu again and click Advanced Controls then click the Advanced button that will appear under some of the volumes you can adjust bass and treble and other things. just mess around with them a little.

good luck

Problem description: Something is seriously going wrong with my computer. I've been using Ableton Live (A digital audio workstation for creating music), and usually I have absolutely no problems whatsoever. However, I decided to look through some old songs that had VST plugins I uninstalled, and when I started doing this the audio start to slow down intensely. I'm running all audio on the DAW through a Line 6 UX2. So, I decide to restart my computer. However, it wouldn't turn on at all. After about an hour of poking around inside the computer, airing it out and cleaning the dust, it finally miraculously turns on. However, now the audio problem has spread to my other soundcard, an HTO Striker Omega. Whenever I watch a video or listen to something, if I do a task that requires a remote amount of processing power, everything slows down and gets extremely choppy, starts crackling or popping, or the sound stutters. This happens on Winamp, VLC, and any other program that uses sound. Seriously, since today I can't listen to a song in Winamp without hearing stuttering if I change tabs in Firefox. It especially happens when I'm listening to something and I click on things in the control panel. Also, Ableton has become completely unusable. I can't listen to anything without hearing about 5 seconds worth of noise for every 1 second of music. It's absolutely frustrating, and I need to fix this soon because I have some incredibly urgent projects I need t... Read more

I have checked every other week researching. I've been in the properties and drivers, I even did a Windows Update at the time of installation and have kept it current to see if there is a fix; to no avail! HP Doesn't find any updated drivers for my computer for audio. I have just recently encountered a problem where my speakers are playing/making crackling/popping sounds. However, I know this is because of my computer because I hooked my speakers up to my phone and it worked perfectly fine. I'm also aware that if I play a sound over bluetooth the sound doesn't happen. I've run the trouble shooting program 10 times, and after it caused my system sounds to termporarly stop working (fixed by restarting computer) I stopped running it. I believe this is being caused by the Realtek High Definition Audio driver, however im not positive. I've tried going to Device Manager and updating it but it doesnt solve the problem, in fact while trying all this it actually got worse. Before 5 days ago I had never had this problem, and my computer came with Windows 10 installed. I have also noticed that it mostly occurs with my left speaker and hardly at all with my right. I have a HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop, and i've had it for around a year. Any reccomendations on what to do?

I was wondering if someone could help out on an issue I have with playback via WMP .

My computer is an HP pavilion and has WMP and Beats Audio built in .

The beats audio looks like it is just a glorified equalizer to me but WMP does not work without it.

My problem is that I have WMP on shuffle and just listen to whatever track plays. Which works fine.

What occurs is the track will play loudly for a few seconds and then lower it's volume itself and continues to play but the volume seems to increase up and down as it plays not to deafening levels just slightly but it is noticeable when playng.

I have disabled volume leveling in the player and re set it but the issue still occurs .

Has anyone come across this issue ?

Alright, so it's a well known annoyance that HP's built in Beats Audio Control Panel has automatic volume leveling, but unlike other companies (Acer, Asus, and all generic replacements under the sun) They provide no way to disable it without removing the hp drivers and using the generic, the problem with this is the generic ones do not offer the proper equalizer meant for the speakers on the computer, and that they un-tie the Headphone jack and Internal speakers as a single output device, meaning programs that do not support switching need to be restarted, or programs that to support switching need to be switched over one-by-one, this simply isn't satisfactory. I'm looking for a way to disable auto volume leveling without having to resort to generic drivers, it's a feature which has been requested by more than 300 people at least on these forums, and I would like to see it happen. Solutions that include "Uninstall beats and install this update from HP (Realtek Generic Driver replacement)" or "Disable beats inside the control panel" Will not be accepted as they are not satisfactory either. Every other company can include a toggle for volume leveling, why can't HP? I spent over $900 on a laptop I believed was going to be at least the same sound quality as my previous $280 laptop. So far I'm left with a sour taste in my mouth. For now I will stop recommending HP to friends, family, and businesses I am contracted with. Get on it HP!

Answer:HP Beats Audio / Shipped Sound Drivers.. REMOVE VOLUME LEVEL...

and yes im aware of http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72094.exe containing a "Loudness equalization" toggle and that does "Fix" the problem for now but it would be nice to still have a volume compression toggle button on the beats one so people dont have to resort to uninstalling drivers and removing software so it isnt automatically replaced and then installing this, not all your customers have any experience with driver installation

So I had some problems with using speakers and plugging in headphones. I did find out that my front panel audio jack just doesnt work, so I plug my headphones into the back panel. The sound of the left speaker is strong and sounds good, but the right doesnt sound good. I made them both the same volume level, but it seems that the right side of the headphones crackle and the sound falls flat. I am using audio-technica m50s, (which sound just fine in any other device). When I use a usb transmitter for wireless gaming headset, the audio is fine. But I would like to use my m50s and buy an attachable mic for them so the sound quality is superb.

Answer:Solved: Audio has slight crackling and sound falls flat

Sounds like the back panel audio port is dirty or failing.

Hi there @exrxfillr, May the Forums be with you!  It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I understand that your audio volume is fluctuating in playback.   I am happy to help with this. It is possible that installing the audio drivers and/or Beats Audio again could help, but first you can try: 1) Right click on the volume icon Image in the System Tray2) Select "Playback devices"3) Double click on "Speakers"4) Click the Enhancements tab5) Check "Disable all sound effects"6) Click OK Test again and see if there is a change in the sound volume. Otherwise try using this: HP PCs - Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8), to reload the audio drivers and the Beats Audio software. Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

MODS: I post this thread to isolate the most important problem from my previous thread and to make it clearer and easier to answer. I hope that's alright.

I have this on onboard Realtek HD audio card. And no matter if I connect the AC'97 or HD audio adapter to the motherboard, the sound that comes out of the frontjack is cracking. I have no phones or anything the like near my pc, the speakers are turned off and I reinstalled the drivers. Still I have this sound. Any suggestions how to fix it?

Thanks in advance

Answer:Realtek HD audio - Front jack makes cracking sound

If you really want a better sound output, check if your speaker or headset are plugged tightly.

But you can also lower the sound quality in the settings but this can eliminate the crackling sound. First, close the programs where sound comes out such as media players. Believe me, I had this problem on Realtek in Windows 7 too but I lowered the sound quality to 16 bits 44100 Hz, CD quality and the crackling sound was gone. I posted a screenshot. After you are done with that, refresh the desktop and play an MP3 file and hear if the sound got any better.

But if you really want some better sound, you need to buy a sound card that is fully compatible with Windows 7.

First post, hope I'm doing this right.Hi guys, about 3 weeks ago I purchased a Lenovo ideapad 110. It's a great laptop, however, about a couple weeks ago, the laptop started making a loud grinding/buzzing sound when playing audio. The sound only lasts for second, but it's quite jarring, to the point where I have to take out my earphones and take a break from what ever I was watching/listening to. It also happens without earphones, so those aren't the problem. YouTube is when it mainly occurs, however other sites with audio have it too. I've tried playing with the audio settings and updating the drivers, it worked for a few days, but the sound has returned. My previous laptop, a hp did this too, but never this frequently, so what exactly is this? I'm not very tech-savvy, so I have no idea. Here are the spec if it helps.15.6-inch (1366 x 768 pixels) TN displayIntel Pentium N3710 Processor (1.60GHz 1600MHz 2MB) with Intel HD Graphics4GB RAM (up to 8GB), 1TB HDDWindows 10 HomeBuilt-in DVD Recordable DriveStereo Speakers with Dolby Audio, 3.5 mm Combo Audio JackUSB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI, RJ45 Ethernet and 4-in-1 Card Reader (SD, SDHC, SDXC, MMC)Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 acDimensions: 378 x 265 x 22.9; Weight: 2.2 kg24WH batteryThanks.

I?ve had my Dell Inspiron 1100 for over a year now, and it?s recently started to make crackling, static-like noises in the upper right corner of the hard drive where the fan is. This only occurs when the fan is at a reasonably high speed, and when I tend to be demanding more than usual of the CPU. There?s not an overheating issue since the laptop is in the same place on my desk as it always was, and there?s not an air blockage problem. Is there any way to fix this without taking it into the shop and replacing some parts? Could it maybe just be a small issue of needing to clean the fan?
Note: this has nothing to do with my speakers or any audio, and is definitely being caused by the fan.

Answer:Fan makes a crackling, static-like noise

try playing around with some compressed air. i blow out me whole laptop once every 3 months, keeps it running quiet and cool. it that dosent work, describe the sound a bit more, like something hitting something?

I just got my second HP a6863w. I've had only had this one for about 3 days. The problem that i'm getting is that when ever sound comes out of my USB plantronics headset i get a crackling/static noise. When I switch the sound to come out my speakers (uses the 3.5mm spot) there is no crackling issue at all. I don't think its my headset because i have 2 USB headsets and they both get the same problem. I've tried all the usb ports on my PC. I have also tried both headsets on my brothers computer and they work fine.

The First HP a6863w got this same problem within 10 days. So i returned that one thinking it was a mobo problem. Now that the second one does it i'm not sure what it is.

Has anyone seen or know of a fix for this.

Answer:USB Headset makes crackling sounds

And I got it fixed...SO far.

So as soon as i posted here i went over to HP's website to talk to tech. I find out they have Support Forums. I did a search and found out that someone with the same problem on a HP laptop. He mention that he updated his bios and it worked.

So I did the same and i can say it works again.

Hi I recently bought a 500W power supply and its been working great for about 5 months now.But recently, I've been hearing this crackling noise and it took me 2 days to find out where it came from, and I found out that it is coming from my power supply. My power supply comes with this little knob which controls the speed of the PSU, and I decided to give it a try and slow it down, and as expected the sound died down with it. But, the crackling noise stays. Not too loud, but still annoying.Out of fear that my computer would overheat, I turn up the speed every once in a while. Proportionally the sound would get a bit louder. It goes something like this: CRACKLE -CRACKLE -QUIET -CRACKLE CRACKLE - QUIET. And theres an occasional quiet squeal along the middle. Any solutions guys?

Answer:Power Supply Makes a Crackling Noise

sounds like a bad fan. here are some solutions...1. return the PSU if it is still under warranty2. buy a new PSU3. replace the fan in the PSU *Notes:* should only be done if you are qualified. PSU's are dangerous to dismantle even when unplugged.

I am trying to video chat with my girlfriend over the computer. She has a Satellite M305D-s4830 with a built in camera and mic. Her mic seems not to work correctly. It makes loud crackling noises that make it extremely difficult to hear her. Skype, too, keeps displaying a popup telling her that there is a lot of background noise.

It makes this noise regardless of whether she is speaking or not, or ether there is any ambient noise in the room. It does however, seem to be worse when the laptop is resting on her lap.

We are looking to rid that terrible noise coming from the mic. Any suggestions? IS there some sort of software that allows her to calibrate the mic at all? Or is it just faulty?

Answer:Satellite M305d-s4830 - microphone makes loud crackling noises

Tell here to right click on the speaker icon in the task bar, select recording devices then go to properties of the microphone set as default, adjust the volume settings, max out the volume settings then add about 10% boost, that is what i did when i had similar problem with skype. In skype tell here to go to options then audio settings and make sure the right device is selected under microphone then save, everything should be working ok now.

bball 1561 i also have a problem and was wondering if you could help, recently i reinstalled vista to the same laptop that you gf has but i could no t locate the mic drivers, so i was wondering if it would be possible if you could ask you or your gf to send me a copy of the drivers they aren't big so they won't take long to send

After having my motherboard, graphics card and RAM replaced due to a power surge, I have been experiencing high audio latency, along with very poor sound quality which includes static noise, crackling. The sound is similar to that of an untuned radio.
http://puu.sh/c5qgz/e691d9d8c7.png
The sound quality is decent when I am running limited audio programs, but when I run multiple (Such as Skype + Youtube), the sound quality starts to become poor.
The sound quality also becomes poor quite frequently when I am only running one audio program.\

I've already tried going into Device manager and disabling/reenabling drivers to see if they were the cause of the problem.
I've also tried updating the drivers to the latest version.

Not really sure what to do now, help is appreciated gratefully.

Windows 8.1
Intel i5-4570 @3.20GHz

EDIT: Searched online, pretty much have 0 dedication to fix this myself, and decided it was time for a fresh windows 8.1. So I reinstalled windows :3

Answer:Audio issues (Static + crackling) and high audio latency

FWIW, the DPC Latency Checker is not fully Win 8 compatible (there is notice on their web site) and it can give you false latency hits.

The Resplendence Latency monitor is Win 8 compatible.

Dear readers,

I'm the owner of a toshiba l665D and there is a problem.
Every time i have to use something involving
sound it sounds rubbish.
The sound isn't played smoothly there are pauses and there is a big cracking
sound sometimes in it.

This is not because of the speakers, I have also tright it through the headphone tube.
Could this possilybe because of a damaged soundcard.

It's sound really rubbish and the laptop isn't even 2 years old yet.

What could it be?

Answer:Satellite L665D - sound isn't played smoothly - crackling sound

Hi

I think this is not related to faulty sound card but due to old iRST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) driver.

I found an thread about very similar issue.
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=60231

Update of the iRST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver) to version V10.1.0.1008 or higher should solve this problem.

I recommend trying this out!

You need to check the HP downloads for your specific model. If nothing is there, contact HP about getting the Beats Audio download.

I'm not familiar with how HP controls added software such as the Beats Audio. Dell has a "my downloads" download page that customers can download the additional software if needed. If you are lucky HP will also have something similar.

Not sure where to put this one, so if a moderator wants to move it, feel free to. This is for anyone that has any HP laptop with Beats Audio integrated in it. I have an HP ENVY dv6 with Beats Audio. Does anyone else with these laptops have anything weird going on with their volume. I can play a song at a normal level and then all of a sudden the volume seems to go lower for a minute, then comes back up. I have played around with the sound settings, as well as the Beats Audio control panel. It has done this since I got it last year. My laptop has the subwoofer in it and I wonder if it has anything to do with it. It also does it when I have headphones on so I don't think it's anything with the actual speakers or the subwoofer. Nothing critical, just annoys me sometimes. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Adam

Is this the same laptop that you are having trouble with the power adapter? If so, did you do a full purchase from Aarons or on contract? If contract, I would return to Aarons and have them make it right. I have always had good luck with their repair policy.

Question: Beats Audio gone?

Here's my issue:I replaced my daughter board recently due to a broken audio port.  After replacing it, my sound from the audio port to my speaker lacked bass entirely. I don' t know the issue, as this is a new daughter board. I'm hoping that I messed up my audio in the Beats Audio mixer, but I cannot find the Beats Audio program at all. It's not under my Control Panel in Hardware and Sound where it should be. I tried finding the direct file that has the Beats Audio program, but there's nothing inside the main file but the Beats Icon and a file caleed "Category". The file's programming and such should be under my :C drive -> Program Files -> HP -> HP Utility Center -> Beats but contains only the two files listed above. There's no drivers on the HP website that will replace the missing files. Someone assist me please.

Answer:Beats Audio gone?

Hi: The Beats Audio software is included in the IDT audio driver found on your notebook's support and driver page. Install and restart the PC. This package contains the driver that enables the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe If you explore the driver folder after you run the driver, you will find several files that are for the Beats audio.

Hi.My laptop model is hp 15g009ax.When i stop hearing song or any audio in earphones, after approximately 6 seconds I hear a quick crackling sound. The crackling sound comes after any sound that ends or After the specific application that is playing the audio is closed). I will tell you what is did to stop this.1) I updated the sound driver from hp support website specific to my model. Didn't work2) Tried the earphones in other phones and lapotps. Working fine.3) Thought the problem is with windows. So dual-booted windows with Ubuntu 14.04.1. When I tried Ubuntu without installing it, earphones seemed to work fine without crackling after sound ends. But after installing Ubuntu and checked, the same problem repeated, but this time crackling sound started coming before the sound starts and after the sound ends. This is very irritating and after reading some articles about this problem, Some said the problem is due to interference(Not sure) of motherboard with soundcard. Can you please specify the source of this problem and a solution to it.Thanks In Advance

Hi folks,

Recently I was setting up a VPN client (PacketIX), and the setup wizard suggested some Audio/Video Streaming "Optimization" tweaks. I didn't pay attention and confirmed.

Since then, I often hear some crackling / popping noises. For instance, this systematically occurs when I Alt/Tab between a running game and my desktop.

An obvious guess is that the damn VPN client messed up some sound settings, but I can't figure out what to do.

I've found a good deal of DPC latency workarounds around here which I tried in vain.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Answer:[Sound crackling ] VPN client messed up my sound settings

Try a system restore to before you installed the VPN client. (System Restore)

Then reinstall the VPN client and don't let it fiddle with the audio settings.

Hello, about 3 days ago i bought a sealed brand new HP OMEN 17-W03np which comes with Windows 10 Home (64-bit), i noticed there were some problems with the sound which have been a constant problem since day one. Before and after any sound plays there are these pops/crackling sounds that are noticable (and pretty irritating), the sound appears to play fine after it starts but in a few occasions the sound actually started breaking and there were random pauses while playing sound. There was also this one time the volume randomly went up and down on its own when pausing a sound (in this case it was a video) and then playing it again.Random pops/crackling have also happened while i was on my browser on web pages but there was no sound sources in the web page at all. I've attempted to use earphones while testing sound, and while using them the pops/crackling sound sometimes come out through the earphones, but sometimes they also come out through the notebooks built-in speakers despite the fact the sound is then played through the earphones (which i found pretty strange). This is my first experience with HP and i have to say i am feeling quite dissapointed, could this be a software problem or will i have to send my notebook back? I'd also like to point out that no major program/software installations have been done as this is a brand new notebook so most of the programs/software in it right now are the ones that come pre-installed with the notebook. I will a... I've been having issues since February's windows updates with crackling sound typically in DirectX games and some video playback such as Steam. In an effort to isolate the problem out I've gone over all my drivers and dust contamination yet again this month. I removed both the 3.51 and 4.01 Klite packs and the VLC player I had been using. Registry cleaned and defragged.

My sound card is an Audigy Fatality champion series with the front panel breakout box.

June 3 2009 driver for it #6.0.1.1373

Dxdiag attached as well.

Next on my list is to see if maybe there's new drivers for my tv tuner capture board which does have sound card resources apparently.

As a side note, I use Ventrilo daily. When ever I launch it after a fresh reboot and connect to a server it locks the PC up for like 90 seconds before behaving normally and displaying the MOTD. It's done this for maybe 6 months. Whenever I have bad game problems I can generally disconnect and reconnect from the vent server without that little annoyance. I want to lay the blame at DirectX, but I've tried several forced updates of it without any improvement.

Playing in the APB beta as well, and thru tips from those players disabled multimedia network throttling in the registry which improved in game performance there a ton.
I really do not want to reload this machine as it takes an eternity to get everything back the way I like it.

Hello, Due to a software malfunction re Windows 10 I have had to install a new hard drive in my laptop. I didn't have a recovery disc so installed Windows 10 again from scratch.  I notice that the only audio that I seem to have is coming from an external monitor. My laptop came with Beats Audio but the laptop does not seem to recognise this.   I am wondering if I need to download a driver for this but I can't seem to find anything on the HP website. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, Try the following. Download the Realtek HD Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72139.exe When done, hold down the Windows key and press R Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter. In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the Realtek device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall. When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72043.exe When the Chipset reinstallation has completed, shutdown the notebook. Unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter. Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f9 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f5, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the Realtek installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this... Hey  I've recently reset my laptop as it was slowing down. Now that all the applications have been removed, the sound wasn't working so I installed the correct drivers from :   http://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-6-1200-Ultrabook/5330919/model/5347070 I tried downloading the IDT audio drivers for all versions available windows 7 - 8.1. None of these had installed the beats application with the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver, eventhough this has fixed the problem for other users. Are there any other drivers I could install to revive the beats audio feature, since the reset my sound has been flat sounding and nothing like before. I would appreciate any help given. Thanks in advance

This is my fault, to get the audio of a game to work, I spoke to the help group at EA and they talked me through basically deactivating Beats Audio in order to allow their audio to work.  I can't even remember the settings I went into to do it, but now the listening experience does not work.  The volume and everything else does, but nothing in the listening experience makes any difference in adjustments.  I don't care about the game anymore and now I regret messing with it.  Please help!

I have build version 10240, and still no fix for HP Beats Audio.  It is virtually useless at this point

Answer:Beats Audio on Windows 10

Greetings, It is possible to fix this problem. Takes a little patience. Try uninstalling the current driver using Control Panel, Device Manager. Tick remove driver from this PC. Reboot and see if Microsoft (MS) gives you a better driver. No? Find the latest HP driver for your PC (the one installed on your previous operating system version) , repeat above but install this driver. Then try updating the driver. There are many IDT chipsets and drivers. The one that worked for me was to remove the .6496. driver, install the HP .6486. driver (Win 8.1), and then update to .6504. using MS update. TomP
