Gigabyte H81M-DS2 running a DDR3 2133Mhz

Question: Gigabyte H81M-DS2 running a DDR3 2133Mhz

Hi,

As the title suggest, can you clarify to me if I can run a ddr3 2133 on Gigabyte H81M-DS2 which according to the website (Gigabyte) that it supports only up to 1600 of DDR3. I have a 4GBx2 of DDR3 2133 G-Skill, others say I can use XMP to use the advertise speed of the ram which 2133Mhz. Currently my ram is running at 1600 which the defualt speed. Will it break my system?

Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Gigabyte H81M-DS2 running a DDR3 2133Mhz

Anything over the specified limits will create room for error and instability. You can technically run the RAM at the rated speeds from my understanding, but it's not guaranteed that it'll work without any problems.

Answer:Kingston HyperX Plug n Play 8GB Kit 2133MHz DDR3 PC3-1700 Non-ECC CL12

The maximum supported RAM speed (Intel Xtreme Memory Profile or XMP) for the T430 is 2133MHz, for the T420s 1866MHz is the (XMP) Max.Although the Ivy Bridge memory controller is able to handle memory running up to 2800MHz, it wil probably never run that high on a Thinkpad, I'm not aware of any profiles, at that speed that are supported. Both the Core I5 and Core I7 processors support Intel XMP-profiles.

I wanted to upgrade my RAM with a 4GB stick running instead of old 2 GB DDR3 stick

bought a new ram for my Gigabyte GA-G41M-Combo motherboard, when i plug my 4gb ram the pc doesnt boot
This 4GB DDR3 RAM Kingston Technology Company - Kingston Memory Search - Search Results for: KVR13N9S8/4

It says in my motherboard specifications on Gigabyte's website tht my motherboard "Support for DDR3 1333(O.C.)/1066/800 MHz memory modules"

how am i supposed to make this RAM work on my motherboard

Please Help Me

Answer:how to make DDR3-1333 DDR3 4 GB work on my Gigabyte G41-M Combo mobo?

I'm afraid that RAM is not supported, I downloaded the Memory Support List from: (and attached)

GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-G41M-Combo (rev. 2.0)

Also, you are better off getting 2 sticks, since:
Your motherboard:

Features Dual channel memory architecture, best to use two sticks to take advantage of the Dual channel, should be identical RAM sticks.
Multi-channel memory architecture - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
That motherboard supports very few 4 gig sticks at all and fact you have to overclock to handle 1333, I would just buy one step lower: 2 * 2 gig 1066 sticks.

Hi all.

This might not be a question for this forum, but I'm keeping my options open. I have 8GB (4 x 2GB) of Kingston HyperX RAM in my PC (model: KHX2133C9AD3T1K4/8GX) and I can't seem to get it to work well in XMP profile 1 (2133MHz 9-11-9-27). When I run either Prime95 or Memtest, I get errors occurring. I also get BSOD's as a result when playing games or doing intensive tasks.

I have it currently set at 1866MHz (9-9-9-27) and can run Prime95 and Memtest all day long. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do about this?

Many thanks

Rob

Answer:Problems with RAM running at 2133MHz (9-11-9-27)

Its obviously not stable.

1 reason could be the RAM itself.
Have you tried running a Memtest86 test at those speeds?
RAM - Test with Memtest86+

This will test just the memory, where as Prime will be stressing CPU as well.

The motherbaord will support such speeds, but its at the upper end and considered a OC.

Since i7s have the memory controller integrated into the CPU, its possible its to much stress at those speeds if running stock.

So, it may take more voltage to stabilize.

I would NOT go adjusting these values however if you are not knowledgeable about Overclocking or Voltages/Heat ranges.

Gigabyte United is set to introduce its "Bearlake" motherboards at Computex 2007, powered by Intel's P35 and G33 Express chipsets

Gigabyte United is set to introduce its next generation Ultra Durable 2 series motherboards in early June. The new motherboards features ferrite core choke coils, low RDS MOSFETs and all-solid capacitors for increased reliability and longevity. Gigabyte United claims the ferrite core choke coils offer higher frequency operation for improved overclocking capabilities, lower temperatures, lower electromagnetic interference and resistance to rust.

RDS MOSFETs minimize conduction and gate charge switching losses while delivering lower temperatures, in a small package. All solid capacitors solve capacitor leakage problems that plagued previous motherboards from all motherboard manufacturers. The solid capacitors promise higher heat resistance and performance while being more environmental friendly than electrolytic capacitors.

Gigabyte United expects to launch its Ultra Durable 2 series motherboards with Intel?s next-generation Bearlake family of chipsets. There will be five Ultra Durable 2 series motherboards powered by Intel?s P35 and G33 Express chipsets ? the P35-DQ6, P35-DS3R, P35T-DQ6, G33M-D2SR and G33-DS3R in full and micro ATX configurations. Gigabyte United pairs all five Ultra Durable 2 series motherboards with Intel?s ICH9R south bridge for enhanced I/O connectivity.

Hi!
I want to know how good is this video card for gaming(at an entry level,i'm not a good gamer ) and how long will support new games.
Thanks alot for all replies from now!

Answer:How much does Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 6670 2gb ddr3 is good for gaming?

well depends on how much of a sacrifice youre prepared to make to game settings in order to make them play.
as it stands that card will not allow you to max out current games on their highest settings at 1080p youd be looking at low to medium.

basically its not a great card for modern games, when it was released 2 years ago it wasnt great then.

whats your budget? as you could get a very good modern card for little money.

I cant see anything in my bios related to ram, so I got this from CPU-Z.

it says that the 6GB DDr3 in my laptop is running at 675 MHz. Maybe its just me, but I didnt think DDR3 was supposed to run that slowly. it concerns my because im using a Liano APU and fast memory is a big deal. I was thinking of upgrading to 8GB and was just wondering if it was maybe a motherboard limitation (which would suck) or its somehow just slow ram..any thoughts on this?

Answer:Laptop DDR3 only running at 675 MHz

DDR stands for Double Data Rate so you need to multiply that by 2.

Building a pc to host a database. The boss wanted the most ram as possible, so I purchased everything listed. When I threw everything in a box, the ram will only run at 1066. Trying to change the DRAM Frequency, it says it can only be 800 or 1066 if the cpu is locked. A buddy of mine says that the BCLK Frequency is a multiplier for the DRAM Frequency. Since the BCLK is set to 133, the RAM will only run as 1066. He said to up the BCLK to 200 in order for the RAM to run at 1600. I do not see an option in the BIOS to increase the BCLK. In fact, it is grayed out.

I have attempted to manually set the RAM to 1600, the UCLK to 3200 and allowed the power to increase automatically. But after the reboot, I receive the "Overclock failed" message.

Any help on this what-so-ever would be greatly appreciated since my boss is coming down on me about it.

Hi There,

I decided to upgrade my pc by adding a new kingston 2G DDR3 1033 kit .. I Bought it and placed it in the same slot color with the old one (kingston 2g DDR3 1033) .. when i turned on the pc it just gave a black screen without any beeps .. i removed the new one, it worked well .. i changed the clock freq. from the bios from AUTO To 667 and 553 and aslo they didnt work .. BUT when i changed the freq. to 400 .. the new kit worked well with the old one

This is my pc spes. without the new ram installed

With the 2 rams installed it Reads 400 MHZ

What should i do ?! Is the New kit is bad ?

Note the old one Model is KVR1333D3N9/2G
and the new one is KVR1333D3S8N9/2G

Answer:New kingston DDR3 1333 running at only 800 bus speed..

Load bios defaults and try again? Its just ram, your system wont be faster because of it running at 667 vs 400mhz, it will be faster because it has more memory installed.

I got a new Lenovo Y450 with the following hardware: T6500, 3GB DDR3 1066 and GT130M. My memory running on 800 only. CPU-Z and Everest  are showing the same situation. I flashed the latest BIOS and nothing changed. Any ideas?

Answer:Lenovo Y450 DDR3 running on 800MHz

Your ram is running at maximum speed because your cpu's front side bus is 800Mhz. Lenovo plays games with their advertising so although you do have DDR3 1066Mhz as long as your CPU has a FSB of 800 it is limited to that. If you got the higher model with a T7450 or P8700 which has a FSB of 1066Mhz then your ram will run at full speed. The only good thing is that the ram is somewhat futureproof in that if you decide to upgrade the cpu in the future with one that has a 1066Mhz FSB it will be compatible. I learned all this the hard way after I made my purchase and even called Lenovo to tell them to add an astrick in the ram section stating this limitation but it fell on deaf ears.Message Edited by pcrayz on 08-18-2009 02:14 PM

Hi everyone!

So I bought this Toshiba laptop 2 weeks ago
http://pt.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-L500-1TU/1082331/toshibaShop/fal...

Sometimes I notice it has some hicups when im gaming or on youtube, like the sound loops for around 3 seconds then its normal again.
I was worried it was some ram defect and ran memtest and CPU-ID

But even though the memtest didnt get any errors, i noticed something, both the mem test and CPU-ID say the ram is running at 800 mhz when they are both DDR3 and should be running at 1066mhz...

Here are the CPU-ID screenshots
http://img63.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=96346130.png

As seen on CPU-ID, the laptop is running with 2 slots of these:
http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/individualOptions.do?service=UK&OPTION_ID=1059...

I also went to the BIOS and there is no way to change the RAM frequency.

Also, all drivers, including the BIOS are up to date.

Could it be a defect from the laptop?

Answer:2GB x2 DDR3 1066mhz sticks running at 800 mhz on Satellite L500-1TU

>... and CPU-ID say the ram is running at 800 mhz when they are both DDR3 and should be running at 1066mhz...
Why do you think they should run on 1066 MHz?
If the FSB speed of mainboard is 800 MHz the faster RAM modules will be slowed down to run on 800 MHz only.
Believe me everything is OK with RAM modules.

well it's DDR3 so it's running at 1600MHz which is the highest default setting the board goes. To get 2000MHz you'll have to increase the ram speed in the BIOS.

Hello folks!

Just needed to know if I can I use a second DDR3 1600 RAM with an existing DDR3 1333 RAM on 32-bit x64 system running Win 10 pro?

I have looked around on the net about this and some places mentioned that the new RAM frequency must not exceed the motherboard frequency. Is that something I should look into?

Answer:Can I use a secondary DDR3 1600 with an existing DDR3 1333?

Sometimes it will and sometimes it wont work. What should happen is the motherboard should under-clock the 1600mhz DIMM to run at the 1333 of the other DIMM.

As long as both are DDR3, they will physically fit in the motherboard. Try it and see.

Hello guys!
I have a H81M-S2PV motherboard. My current specs are: i5 4440 and GTX660. I am thinking of upgrading to a i7 4790k and GTX970, in addition to a better PSU, SSD and a CPU cooler. My question is:
Will my motherboard limit my better CPU/GPU. I know that my motherboard is a very cheap board, but I am asking if the CPU/GPU would run better on lets say a £300 motherboard? I am also thinking to overclock my new CPU from 4.0GHz to 4.5GHz, will this motherboard allow me to do that? And achieve the EXACTLY SAME effect as I would on an expensive "gaming" motherboard?
Another question would be:
I have a 8GB stick of ram running at 1330MHz, software like CPU-Z or Speccy shows that it runs only at half of that. Checking in the BIOS it said my RAM is 1330MHz indeed. Is my RAM not running at full potential then?

Answer:H81M-S2PV motherboard

Your Gigabyte H81M-S2PV motherboard does support Core i7 and overclocking - have a read of this REVIEW but also wait to see what others have to say on this. I don't think you need to pay £300 for a motherboard as you can get perfectly decent boards for a third or less of that price which would do the same job.

Answer:Am I messing up my motherboard H81M-E34

Only concern I have is what your running for a power supply to power all this. The system has a power hungry CPU and GPU where prior it was lightweight.Additionally just verify that the system temps are staying cool and nothing is running HOT. If temps are good and you have a power supply adequate for the power demands then you should be all set.Video card calls for 300 watts or greater power supply, and this card is the newer GTX card that doesnt require the additional 12 volt direct power, so all power is through the power pins of the PCI Express slot. This card runs heavy on the PCI Express slot with 75 watts draw which is the maximum draw for a PCI Express 16x slot. Most video cards which are lighter weight run in the 40-60 watt range. You should be fine with this video card at the maximum wattage as long as the board was manufactured to proper maximum load spec for PCI-E power. https://www.asus.com/support/faq/104406/I picked up a GTX 1050 just like this one for $120 about a month ago and had to return mine because it doent have analog video support for older monitor with VGA connection with DVI to VGA adapter, then DVI-D are digital, so I returned the card and went back to using my GTX 780. My GTX 780 requires the 12 volt direct power, whereas this GTX 1050 didnt require the additional 12 volt direct power.  I wasnt able to test the GTX 1050 SSC 75 watt video card against my GTX 780 which requires the additional 12 volts direct power to see if the GTX 1050 SSC has ... Answer:Running 2 PCI Express cards om Gigabyte P55A-UD4 rev 15

Welcome to TSG,

I've edited your post as you completely misspelled Nvidia, in fact it resembled a completely different word...I assume it was to get around the language/swearing filter so please be aware that this is a family oriented site and that's why the filters are in place.

Many new cards support 3 monitors from one card these days, some support up to 6. Older cards generally support two. How many monitors do you want to use?

And yes, you can use two PCI-Express video cards on your motherboard and even though it supports SLI and CrossFire you do not have to use them to use multiple cards.

Wonder if anyone could suggest graphic card cpu, for this.....already decided on 8G ram only taked DDR3 as I understand it, hopefully this isnt too limiting.....going to have windows 10 64 bit installed

thanks in advance

Answer:Asus micro atx H81m 1150

First off what processor does it currently have and what is the output on the power-supply??

Let me give you my PC specs...

Antec Tru Power 430 watt Power Supply
WD 160 gig hdd IDE connection
WD 160 gig hdd Sata connection
Lite on Cd Burner
Ben Q DVD burner
2 gigs Corsair TwinX2048-3200C2
Antec Case Fan Rear

I just recently put in the Corsair ram, and the WD 160 gig sata hdd. I have plenty of air flow space and am running 1 antec 80 mm fans, plus a cpu fan/cooler.

I am getting a reading of ...54 degrees Celsius one one drive(way too much), and 31 degrees celsius on the other(well within normal specs).

What is going on? Should I add another rear case fan? Is this an accurate reading. The inside of the case does not feel hot at all, I actually have the side panel off.

The case I have, has room for 2 rear fans, but I do not know where I would hook up the 2nd fan. The first fan is running off my PS, I looked for a fan connector on my board but could not find one.

Could anyone offer any ideas, or suggestions on where to hook up a 2nd fan on my mobo, or just what may be causing this?

Thanks
Alan

Answer:Hard drive running hot(Gigabyte KNS 939 Ultra board)

The likelyhood of your HD temp being 54c is extremely low, the bearing in the harddrive would be so damaged the harddrive wouldnt work, the only other way it can get so hot would be induced heat from a nearby component the chance of which is very slim unless your hardrive is above the cpu or video card, what cpu and video card do you have? Also without the manufacturer and model number of your motherboard its impossible to point you toward a system fan header.

What temp monitoring program are you using,I would suspect its an error in either the detected temp or the indentification of the harddrive as having the high temp,at 54 degress the drive will feel very hot to touch,if you touch it and your first reaction isnt 'wow that feels hot' its a sensor or software error.

Try using speedfan to check temps, also click the smart tab, select the drive in question and note its fitness and performance

Is that a G41M-Combo Rev 1.3?

If so, it supports both DDR2 and DDR3.

But you cannot mix DDR2 and DDR3. All RAM must be one or the other.

The specific RAM you mentioned is not listed on the qualified RAM list, but that doesn't mean it won't work.

From the Gigabyte web site for the G41M-Combo Rev 3:

DDR3:

2 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory (Note 1)
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 1333(O.C.)/1066/800 MHz memory modules

DDR2:

2 x 1.8V DDR2 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory (Note 1)
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR2 1066(O.C.)/800/667 MHz memory modules

(Note: Mixed mode, populating DDR2 and DDR3 memory modules simulta- neously is not supported. Go to GIGABYTE's website for the latest supported memory speeds and memory modules.)

Does anyone know for sure wether my rig will support 2133Mhz RAM?
According to mainboard/cpu documentation the mainboard supports it, but the processor doesn't.
My current RAM runs at 1600Mhz though and it seems to work.

More info about my current setup: https://i.imgur.com/lQE2CX5.jpg

According to ark.intel.com not even 1600Mhz memory should work...

Answer:2133Mhz RAM together with an i5-2500k

I don't know.

The QVL (qualified vendors list) for the board lists RAM up to 2400 MHz, but run at 1333. Support for high frequency RAM, but only after a fashion.

I guess that anything over that would be overclocking. All that I can suggest is trying it (may require manually setting the memory frequency in the BIOS) and running a memory test to see whether it is stable.

I have a Asrock H81m socket 1150 motherboard and have 8gig 1600mhz of ram , my question is I have just purchased 16gb of 2133mhz will this have to go back to the store or can I still use it ..thanks

Answer:Ram 1600 to 2133mhz

The ASRock H81M motherboard has 2 DIMM slots and supports a maximum of 16 GB(8 GB X 2) of DDR3 RAM.

It supports these DDR3 speeds:
DDR3-1066 (slowest)
DDR3-1333
DDR3-1600 (fastest)

You should've bought DDR3-1600 modules instead of DDR3-2133 modules.

Is a CL=13 DDR4 SODIMM compatible with the P50? I'm planning to get the Kingston HyperX Impact DDR4 2133MHz CL=13 32GB (Kit of 2x16) for my P50. However, on checking manufacturer's websites (Intel, Lenovo, Crucial, Kingston, G-Skill), compatible sodimms for the P50 have CAS Latencies (CL) of 15, 16, or 17. Will the Kingston HX421S13IBK2/32 work on my machine? Hi all,

Having issues with a ASUS H81M-C motherboard which shows no signal detected on boot.

Equipment
ASUS H81M-C MOBO, CORSAIR XMS3 4GB RAM 1600MHZ, INTEL G3258 1150 CHIPSET, 120GB SSD, BE QUIET 300W PSU

notes
no error bleeps on boot
no signal detected on screen
cannot access bios
reset CMOS - no success
moved all parts over to gigabyte mobo and all works well.
removed RAM from board and booted but no error codes from this either??

Whats frustrating is that I returned the mobo to the buyer who tested and showed as working correctly.??

Im thinking it maybe a RAM issue?
Does anyone have more experience with the ASUS mobos? Are they funny on RAM types/spec (checked QVL and Corsair RAM that i have picked is not showing)

I knew i should have stayed with Gigabyte

any thoughts/comments welcomed

thanks for viewing

Alright guys...so newegg just informed me that I won the following memory in a Facebook contest: Crucial Ballistix 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 with heat spreaders and built in thermal sensor

The wording on the contest is vague, so I'm not sure if I'm getting 4 or 8GB of it. Right now, I have 6 GB of Crucial DDR3 1333 RAM in my comp. I was just wondering how much performance, if any, I would lose by replacing it with the RAM that I won (assuming they only send me 4GB).

Answer:4 GB of DDR3 1600 or 6GB of DDR3 1333?

It depends what your doing with it. If your not doing anything memory intensive then probably hardly any, 4GB is about the sweet spot with Win 7, and the access speed on that RAM is quicker

Hi Monster212

According to the manufacturer's website specs on your motherboard (MSI Global ? Mainboard - P55M-GD41), your computer should support the faster RAM (when overclocked apparently), and therefore theoretically should acquire faster performance in the 5 - 10% range..

Hope that helps!

Hello Lenovo CommunityI use the Lenovo Yoga 520 for 2 months from now and I'm very happy with it.And since I want to extend my life with it, I prefer to upgrade its components to maximum setup. Unfortunately, the RAM is only one slot and it has samsung 8GB 2400MHZ which is not enough for my multi tasks So, I decide to upgrade it to 16GB. So, I bought RAM from Gloway 16GB 2133MHZ and replaced the 8 GB. I turn on the power but, it won't turn on. The keyboard lit is on for 5 second then it off and nothing happen. Only the cooling fan is spinning. It is not defective RAM due I installed into my ACER F15 and it works perfectly. So, since the maximum RAM for Yoga 520 is 16GB , where is the problem? Is it not recognize the RAM brand or the RAM speed is low?Note , I replaced the Samsung ram with crucial 8GB 2400mhz and works perfectly. So I need help Regards

I have a GA-EX58-UD5 motherboard with 6 memory slots. I've read so many different views on this and just need a definitive answer and this forum has always provided me with a wealth of knowledge, so thanks... With what I am working with, what is my best option? Should I stick with the 6x2GB modules at 1600 MHz or switch to the 4x4GB modules at 2133MHz? OR if you have other options, I'm more than willing to listen. I know I should have posted here before purchasing the new ram... but I'm here now. I can always send it back. If you need more info on my system, feel free to ask. Thanks for any and all help.

Answer:6x2GB 1600MHz vs 4x4GB 2133MHz Memory Modules

well in my experience ram clock past some limit doesnt have much visible benefit (well benchmarks may say othervise) but real experiencie is not noticeable. I dont do extreme oc so i dont know if that helps in ocing cpu.
in my opinion main reason for upgade would be you use less of your ram slots

i think 4x4 is better than 6x2..

DDR2 & DDR3 in Motherboard Memory Support Specs ... Aren't DDR2 and DDR3 keyed differently to disallow use of DDR2 into a DDR3 slot etc?   I have seen some boards from asrock that allow DDR2 and DDR3 but it has both DDR2 and DDR3 memory slots. This one only has what looks like DDR3 slots.I looked at the specs here to see if they have a 1600Mhz DDR3 list of supported RAM because I have a 8GB Stick to use. Motherboard calls for 1333Mhz which is all the memory controller will run at. And it looks like the 1600Mhz DDR3 stick should underclock to 1333Mhz. But the DDR2 listed as supported caught my attention. I havent seen any DDR2 with the same keying as DDR3 as well as I am not aware of a DDR2/DDR3 optional RAM slot.  http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=856#memorysupport

Answer:DDR2 & DDR3 in Motherboard Specs ... Aren't DDR2 and DDR3 keyed differently

They are keyed differently. I took a picture of some of the RAM modules I have. (Top to bottom: DDR3, DDR2, DDR, SD-RAM, EDO)My understanding is that boards that claim to support both would have separate slots for each. Similar to how some motherboards supported both SDRAM as well as EDO RAM SIMMs.I think the Memory support for that might be referring to the chipset/Memory controller support? The specs at the top of the page specifically mention "Support 2 DIMM of DDR3 1333MHz up to 32G maximum capacity" with no mention of DDR2. Or perhaps the memory support is listed for a wider model set where some models have different module slots?

Hey guys!

Help me out in jumping down on a final decision.. Now let me give you some info and specs about my Rig!

- i5 4670k
- ASRock Fatal1ty H87 Performance (CrossFireX Ready) SLI not supported
- 4GB G.Skill (will upgrade later)
- Cooler Master GX 550w
- Samsung LCD Monitor (1440x900 Native)

Here are 2 cards I would like you guys to choose from and why?

GIGABYTE - Graphics Card - ATI - PCI Express Solution - Radeon HD 7000 series - GV-R787OC-2GD
GIGABYTE - Graphics Card - NVIDIA - PCI Express Solution - GeForce 700 Series - GV-N760OC-2GD (rev. 2.0)

Also I know the GTX 760 is newer and has PhysX Support but it's costing $80 more than the HD7870 also my motherboard does not have SLI Support but it's CrossFireX Ready and I wanna play all new games at maxed out settings (if possible) and I have LCD that has a 1440x900 Native Res. There are chances that I might get 1080p Monitor in Q1 or Q2 next year. The 7870 is available for $280 and GTX 760 for $360 in my currency and country. These are the least prices I can found and now you have all the info please help me choose which one would be good for me in terms of Price, Performance and most of all Power Consumption as we have frequent black outs and my UPS has little backup time to turn things off especially when gaming while system is running at PEAK!

Personally I'd to for the 760.

I have a Western Digital 1 TB USB 2.0 that I have connected to a computer that has Gigabyte connection to my NAS which can handle Gigabyte speeds.

I am only getting 30.1MB/s.

Is there any settings I can do to windows so that it can send faster?

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit.

Answer:USB2.0 HD Transfer over Gigabyte Network to Gigabyte NAS

You're doing well. Large file transfers on my system via USB 2.0 are only about 24 MB/s. I did notice when I plugged my Seagate USB 2.0 external into my SIIG USB 3.0 card, sequential reads and writes were about 15% improved. I just plugged the USB 2.0 drive in while I was waiting for USB 3.0 docking stations.

If you have a free PCIExpress slot you may get some improvement plugging the USB 2.0 into the USB 3.0 card. But using SIIG USB 3.0 docks and WD caviar black internal drives I find the drives run at full speed. Only thing is now the price bubble is preventing me from increasing my stock of internal drives.

OK.. So, what would benefit me more? Two GIGABYTE GV-R927OC-2GD Radeon R9 270 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 Crossfired together OR one GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-4GD GeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-bit GDDR5. It's my first build and have been running one R9 270 OC GPU and I get 50-80fps on ultra.. The R9 card is 256bit 2GB DDR5 and the nvidia 770 is 256bit 4GB DDR5 (770 has higher MHz as well).. Which setup would yield a better image and higher fps?

--Side Question: If I would Crossfire there would be 1 PCI slot between the two cards on default cooling. Liquid cooling is only on the CPU with the H100i. Right now my current GPU doesn't go over 111F (44C), would the second GPU that close to the other cause a drastic increase in temps? Also the second GPU would be rather close to my PSU, but the PSU is upside down with its fan on the outside of the case so no additional heat from the PSU..

Correct, only DDR3 RAM can be used, any other type won't fit the slots anyway. If you have ECC ram now, you may be able to use non-ECC.

Possibly if you don't plan on using the old stick
You'd have to post the Mainboard section and google the mother board model to see what is compatible with it.

Just a quick question that came up in my head while I was reading the chapter about RAM in my hardware book... assuming that I'm building a gaming computer for myself with an i7 CPU and x58 chipset, what would give me better overall performance.... installing 4 memory modules of 2GB each and running on dual-channel mode or installing 3 memory modules of 2GB each and running on triple-channel mode?
thank you

Answer:8GB DDR3 (dual-channel) x 6GB DDR3 (triple-channel) Which is better?

Depends a lot on how much RAM your applications need. Triple channel is slightly faster, but if you. Err. Run two instances of Crysis, then you might need 8 GiB so the other solution is 'better'.
My vote goes for 3x2...

OCZ 4GB (2x 2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666 Reaper HPC Edition Dual Channel Kit Memory
my motherboard supports this so i guess it's just a case of getting warm and fuzzy feedback from people who might recommend it before i shell out 150 quid for it, as i could get the ddr2 1066 ram instead if the warm and fuzzy feeling isn't there.

thanks in advance for any replies!!!

Answer:to ddr3 or not

You will only see the difference when running benchmarks, just save your money for your next big upgrade.

I recently found out that my laptop supports DDR3. I installed Hwinfo and was exploring the features of the program(Great Program!) and noticed that my Motherboard supports DDR3. Im thinking about upgrading from DDR2 to DDR3, but my question is where can I buy DDR3?
DDR3 Frequency Support 400MHz (DDR3-800)
FSB Frequency Support 200MHz (800 QDR)

Answer:Where can I get DDR3?

It support both DDR2 & DDR3?

With DDR3, it really will only be a benefit if you can get DDR3 1333 or higher.

In the 800/1066 range, DDR2 will perform better due to lower latencies.

But to answer your question, any online retailers such as Newegg, Tigerdirect.

Question: 8GB DDR3 CL7 Ram

Hey guys i currently have a gaming rig but only 4GB of ram in there Clocked at 7
ive just ordered 8GB of exactly the same ram for a good price will this effectivley make a difference to performance in any way shape or form ?

Answer:8GB DDR3 CL7 Ram

For gaming, probably not enough that you would even notice. You also have to remember that most games are still only 32 bit and as such, unless they are large address aware or 64 bit they are limited to 2 GB total address space,

Hello everyone,
My desktop's specification is at http://valid.canardpc.com/2569693

Accordingly, I am using a 400 MHz DDR2 RAM. I researched on my mainboard and found out that my mainboard support a 667 or 800 DDR2 RAM at http://www-aws.deltron.com.pe/modulos/productos/items/postsql.php?item_number=MBECSG41T-M
I am about to attach a new RAM.
I wonder whether I can have a 667 or 800 DDR2 RAM on my mainboard or not.
Thank you very much.

Answer:Should I buy a DDR3 ram?

Go here and allow the Crucial System Scanner to load and run.

After it finishes and it displays a report, copy-and-paste the link to that webpage here so we can go there and view it.

Question: ddr3 ram help

hello guys im a bit confused about my ddr3 ram is it possible to upgrade my ram to 6 giga ram.. i have a lenovo g550 and it has 2 ddr3 memory one is one gig and other is two gig... i would like to upgrade it remove the one gig ram and replace it with 4gig ram but i dont know if the 4gig new memory will not conflict with my old 2 giga... how can i know that i would not conflict.. heres my ram specs (2048 MB DDR3-SDRAM (1067 MHz)) what would be the best type of 4 giga ram that will not conflict with it...! thanks.. have a nice day....

Answer:ddr3 ram help

I'd suggest going to one of the major RAM suppliers like Crucial. You can plug your computer info into their "memory advisor tool" and it will tell you exactly what your computer is capable of handling. Generally speaking it's usually better to not mix and match but to get matched pairs of RAM (2x2GB, 2x4GB, etc.) Once you know what your computer can handle and the exact memory specifications, you can shop around for the lowest prices. Just as an example, a few days ago Newegg had 8GB DDR3 RAM (2x4GB) for under $50.

Question: Ddr3 ram

While browsing the specs on several motherboards I'm considering, I noticed in the RAM specs, that some listed 1600MHz DDR3 (over clocking). What does the parenthetical note mean? Does it mean that this speed of RAM is only needed if the rig is over clocked?

I also noticed that one board listed ECC or non-ECC in the specs. I'm sure that ECC is more expensive...is it worth it?

When you overclock your system there are several ways of doing it. One is to increase the speed of the Bus, meaning it's a synchronous overclock. This means that all the devices controlled by the Bus speed are going to run faster than they were intended to, including the RAM. If your RAM was barely fast enough to keep up at the regular clock speed it would likely give you errors when running at a higher speed. One way to solve this is to buy RAM rated faster than necessary. When you overclock the Bus the RAM has no trouble keeping up.

This also avoids the possible downside of an asynchronous overclock, one where CPU end of the Bus gets boosted but the rest of the system stays at stock speed.

ECC memory is used mostly in servers. Unless something has changed (or I'm just flat-out wrong ) it actually runs a tad slower than non-ECC RAM, mainly because it needs an extra step to check the data passing through it before it gives it the okey-dokey. Unless you have a specific re... Read more

Question: DDR3 Upgrade

I was recently given an 8GB DDR3 @1600MHz. In my computer, I had 2x 4GB @1600MHz + 4GB @1333MHz. What should I do to maximize performance? Since I have 4 slots, do I ditch the 1333 or do I keep them all in for a total of 20GB RAM? Also, when removing the 1333MHz unit, WEI stays at 7.6. I know it`s a horrible benchmark but it is still cool to brag about WEI. I`ve heard that Sandy Bridge processors by default keep RAM at 1333MHz. If that`s the case, how can I get my computer to take advantage of the 1600MHz? I have an i7-2720QM processor.  Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

I currently have 3Gb of DDR2 memory, in 2 slots (1x 1GB, 1x 2GB) - however i wanted to increase this to 4GB or even 6GB. Basically i was wondering if the following factors would affect my choice:

1-Is there a limit of how much RAM i can have in my motherboard?
2-Can i cross between DDR3 and DDR2 memory in the two slots, or do i have to keep the same type in each? - (and also, whats the difference between the two)

Thank You

Answer:Can I use DDR2 and DDR3 RAM together?

If your motherboard currently supports DDR2, then you can only add DDR2. They're not slot compatible.

Which motherboard do you have? Most modern motherboards should support 4 to 8GB of RAM.

The SL only support DDR2, the intel X4500 is a graphics card, it is just integrated into your Northbridge chip, rather than been a discrete unit.

Question: 8500GT with DDR3?

I have a 300W PSU and I am going to buy a 8500GT graphics card. I know someone who has same spec computer I do and is running a generic stock 8500GT with DDR2. Should I buy the 8500GT with the gDDR3 model? Do I need a higher power PSU?  In reading reviews, particularly on newegg.com, some people said it had no problem while others have said it gets hot quickly and that the fan isn't too good. With my AMD64 computer that has the cool'n' quiet technology, would that be a problem? The gDDR3 model is overclocked versions compared to the stock. I play Age of Empires 3 now and then. So 8500GT would be fine, unless someone can recommend to me a better card that doesn't require me to buy a new PSU for now since I don't need a higher powered graphics card.

A larger power supply is always a+

I'm contemplating upgrading my computer piece by piece since I don't have money for a full overhaul right now. I definitly want to get a new intel core duo 2, probably the E6750 processor model. I also want to go for a P35 chipset motherboard (i dont care for the brand, as long as its a decent one e.g. gigabyte intel asus etc).

My problem is that i am not sure whether i should spend the extra money to go for DDR3 as of this moment or should I wait and buy a board that has DDR2 support and go for DDR3 way later like the next upgrade (which I can just upgrade the motherboard if i ahve to).
what are your opinions?
thanks, adam

if i was gaming would it be better to get DDR2 or 3? i will be getting 8 gigs

Answer:DDR2 vs DDR3

It depends on what you're gaming. DDR3 is the faster memory. Most games you play except for the newest and most demanding aren't going to have any problems at all on DDR2 tho. You'll pay a little more for DDR3, but then on the other hand you'll be better future-proofed. If you've got the mobo to support it and plan on playing some intense games, I'd say get the DDR3.
