Bluetooth headphone set problems connection

Question: Bluetooth headphone set problems connection

Hi, I am having problems getting a Bluetooth headset to operate. Having connected and paired (I believe), the device shows in Devices and Printers. In Device Manager, there are three listings for it (Aukey model EP-B4). Each listing says there are no drivers installed. Have tried updating each and all but after an age for Windows searching for drivers I had to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to close it.
I have contacted the manufacturer many times but so far no results - they repeatedly requested from where I bought it and item number.
I am using Win7 SP1 with all updates current.

The headset works well with my mobile phone and tablet (Android 5.1).

Any help much apprecitated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi.I've been lurking for a bit and have had most of my questions answered and issues solved bythis fine community. Thank you!My problem is that I can add my bt headphones (I've tried two different sets) in the "add device"option, but once I shut the bt device (headphones in my case) off and then turn them back onagain the sound continues to come from the tablet or stereo speakers (which ever I'm using atthe time) and the sound won't switch to the bt headphones automatically. I must manually go theSound settings in Control Panel options and select the bt headphone to use them again. As ofright now I've got a shortcut to the Sound options on my desktop. Now this isn't a deal breaker forme, but there's got to be an easier way! LOLS!Any suggestions? Thanks! And for the record I have no wifi issues and I've upgraded to 8 gigs of ram so I'm keeping this!!!

I haven't tried using a Bluetooth headset with Windows, but check: 1.  Right-click on the sound tray icon, select Playback devices.  Does it show a 2nd bluetooth headset device in addition to Speakers?  If so, left-click on it and try the "Set Default" dropown menu on the bottom to make it the Default device (or some other option that works better). 2.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933144 3.  http://www.computing.net/answers/hardware/making-bluetooth-headset-default-audio-device/87178.html

I've recently bought a Bluetooth USB Dongle for my Dell Inspiron 1764 laptop so my wireless headphone could connect to it. The dongle connected and installed fine but when I pressed "Add a device", it saw it as a keyboard and when it tried to install the driver for it, it gave me a "No driver found" for Bluetooth Peripheral Device. It is a Ciberspeed Sports Bluetooth Headphone and it has worked for my iPod so I'm not sure if that's the issue. I appreciate any help.

Hi Satellite users,

I recently had a problem getting my Toshiba Satellite P50t-B running Windows 10 to detect (and hence connect) to my Sony MDR-XB50BS Bluetooth Headphones. The symptom of the problem was that the "MDR-XB50BS" device didn't appear in the list of available devices on the Windows Activity Centre "Connect" screen, nor in the Windows Settings -> Devices -> Bluetooth and other devices -> Add a device screen. Since the device never appeared, I couldn't connect to it.

The solution to the problem turned out to be upgrading my Toshiba Satellite BIOS from version 1.10 to BIOS version 1:50 available on the Drivers & Updates tab of the Toshiba Satellite Support site. The release notes mention a Bluetooth issue being corrected in version 1.40 and while I can't say for certain that this is the same issue I encountered, updating the BIOS was the last thing that I tried before the problem went away, and it's reasonable to expect that a relatively new technology like Bluetooth might have had early implementation bugs.

The other point to note is that if you've already paired the headphones with another device, like I had with my iPhone, then you have to hold the power button down for 7 seconds at power on in order to enter Bluetooth pairing mode first time you try to connect it to the Satellite.

I hope this helps someone someday!

Cheers,
Graham

I have just upgraded my laptop to a Sony PCG-Z1RSP (yes, seduced by the looks). The bluetooth function is driving me nuts. I'm trying to connect my Nokia 6310i mobile phone as a modem but can only do so via the standard modem over bluetooth included with the Sony/Win XP Pro which only gives 9600bps. The Nokia supports 28Kpbs and I used to get this speed via my old Dell with a USB bluetooth dongle? I've downloaded the latest Nokia modem but still no joy, it just disconnects immeadiatly?Other problem is getting MS ActiveSync to work via bluetooth in order to sync my Compaq ipaq. I can set up the connection and sync via the usb cradle and I can make bluetooth file transfers to and from the Sony/Compaq but ActivSync over bluetooth refuses to set up a connection?Any ideas out there???

Unable to pair or connect LG phone and Asus laptop.
1. Both bluetooth adapters turned on
2. Both are set as discoverable
3. If I use phone to find other bluetooth devices, it sees computer and tries to pair but it shows me pairing code and the computer doesn't show any code.
4. If I try to add device on the computer, it finds the phone, but when trying to pair the phone pops up message with pairing code but the computer doesn't show any code.
5. Then occaisionally a small pop up appears on the computer telling me another bluetooth device is trying to connect but if I say OK I get connection error.

I have tried connecting other bluetooth devices and never been successful. Is there an alternative generic bluetooth driver or program that maybe will work? Or any suggestions??

I have been trying to connect a laser measuring device (Leica Disto Plus-Bluetooth enabled) to my computer via a Belkin USB adapter. It doesn't want to connect and I get an error message which asks for a pairing PIN number. I am told by the suppliers of the Leica that it doesn't have a PIN and should connect without one. Can anyone help out?I am running Win XP.

Answer:Bluetooth connection problems

I don't know anything about your laser measuring device. But usually, for bluetooth devices, the first time you try to connect with the computer through the USB adapter, you need to "pair" them by inputting any combination of numbers (both on the computer, and on the external device). The set of numbers can be anything you want. It's just to make sure that you're connecting the right bluetooth device. If there's a keypad on the laser device, just enter any PIN, and do the same on the computer when prompted.

Hi - hopefully I can get some help with this problem. I bought a Acer Aspire S7-391 for my daughter and also a Bluetooth Speaker - Sandstrom SSDKBT13. I am running W8.1.The pairing process works OK, but about 10 seconds after connecting, the speaker is shown to be not connected. The only way to re-connect seems to be removing the device and re-pairing, but the connection only lasts for about 10 seconds.I have reviewed the posts on various BT issues and have downloaded and installed the latest BT drivers from the Acer support site. this has not fixed the issue.Any ideas welcome! thanks, Jon

Answer:Bluetooth connection problems Zenbook/Windows 10

Is there a button to pair it on the headphones? In win 10 settings, devices, Bluetooth select More Bluetooth options, in the Bluetooth Settings popup tick the box for Allow Bluetooth devices to find this PC. Click Apply OK. See if it can pair then. If you have a list of music tracks try right clicking one of them and select Cast to device and see what shows up.

Hi,

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate and I'm trying to install a Microsoft IntelliType Pro keyboard and IntelliPoint mouse. The mouse installed fine and works well, however I'm having trouble with the keyboard. The computer detects it and apparently install it OK. It gives me a code to type in on the keyboard and that works fine. However, when it's done, the keyboard won't work. After a few minutes the icon for it disappears from my Bluetooth Devices folder, leaving only the mouse one.

I've tried reinstalling the drivers and I've tried installing the keyboard on another computer, but I get the same result every time.

Please can someone suggest how to get it working?

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Guys,

I am trying to buy a new "sports headphone" to be used at the gym. Unfortunately, where I am, I only either have bluetooth 2.0 + NFC or Bluetooth 4.0 (only 1 or 2 options) without NFC.

I am really keen on NFC, as I have a S4 and really keen to try NFC, would really appreciate any feedback on this? Is BT2.0 with NFC a better option in terms of easy of use or a simple BT3.0 or BT4.0 without NFC be a safer bet?

I am not too sure how stable the NFC technology now is, so thats my only concern.

Would appreciate some feedback on this.

Thanks

Answer:NFC or bluetooth sports headphone?

Since NFC only works up to a few inches, it must be used just for the setup. The Bluetooth would then be used as the link between the headphones and phone.

Answer:Bluetooth Headphone disconnects

Are you using vendor's bluetooth drivers? If so, remove it, reboot and let your system install the Microsoft bluetooth stack. You may have to uninstall your hardware manually too (from device manager)

I can't use my bluetooth headphone and wired earpiece simultaneously. whenever I connect my bluetooth headphone to my laptop, the wired earpiece stops working.I'm having Dell XPS L501X with Realtek High Definition Audio. Is there any way to make them work simultaneously?

Answer:Can't use bluetooth headphone with earpiece!!

I don't think there is because usually when you plug in a headset or turn on a bluetooth headset it disables the speakers, so I suspect that bluetooth essentially does the same to your wired headset - probably nothing that can be done about it unless you happen to find a setting in the realtek control panel that disables the 'feature'."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." I have a Insignia bluetooth wireless headphones that I want to use to listen to my Viso VO37L flat screen TV. So I put a Soundblaster Audigy soundcard in my spare computer and connected the TV headphone jack to the input line of the soundcard. I can now have the TV audio playing through the computers speakers. The problem is that no matter what I try I can't get the signal to the headphones. I have WIDCOMM bluetooth 5.1.0.3900 software installed on the computer and it works fine ,I can hear all Window XP sounds as well as the media player and other software audio. I tried using a few recording software programs thinking I could use the monitoring feature to hear the in-line input, but even though I could record the input and hear the replay I couldn't hear the monitor. This whole Idea seemed so simply but not I am thinking that "you can't get there from here". If anyone knows what I am missing I would appreciate the help. Thanks.

I own a macbook pro and runs windows 7 by bootcamp. The headphone is JBL e40bt.
I tried to use my bluetooth headphone it had always failed and it said there was no driver for "bluetooth peripheral device."
I then downloaded the ASUS driver thing from here: Can't find drivers for bluetooth headset - Windows 7 Help Forums
And the problem was solved.

But now when I connect my headphone, it is only good immediately after I connect it. As long as I play something continuously the headphone won't switch off by itself and nothing's wrong. But if there's no audio input from the computer to the headphone for like a minute and then I start playing music, the audio is skipped. I have to reconnect the device for it to return normal.

Please help me. It is quite annoying. It's okay if I am playing games and stuff but I when I'm playing music I can't let it stop.

The sound quality on paired headphones is terrible. There is a background, high pitched whine being transmitted that makes it unbearable to listen.
A wired pair of headphone works fine. The headphones work fine when paired with my Note 4 & Sony TV. A second pair of bluetooth headphones exhibits exactly the same problem, so it is 100% definitely the laptop that is the problem.
Does anybody know how the fix this please?

I didn't know where to put this, or what kind of problem this is.
I have a pair of Bluetooth headphones and an ASUS bluetooth USB adapter.
When I turn on the Bluetooth headset, I have to manually go into the Sound settings and change the "Default" to the Asus Adapter.
Though ZId love to know if there is a fix to this, it's easy enough to live with. The thing I cant stand though, is when I do switch any default device in the Sound settings, I also have to close all programs that were open when making the switch. Otherwise, the programs (like iTunes and Media Player Classic) will contiue coming out of the computer speakers, or whatever the previous default was. Ive only had the ASUS Bluetooth adapter, and havent been able to try another adapter, but I have used different bluetooth Headsets/Headphones, and they all react the same. The program also exhibited on Windows 7, so I doubt its OS specific.
Is there any way to fix this, because this is absolutely annoying.

Answer:Problem: Have to restart programs when connecting bluetooth Headphone.

Did you ever find an answer? I just found this post and I'm having the exact issue. And agreed; very annoying.

Edit: Just found this page on reddit. It works! Swich the audio playback in iTunes to Direct Sound rather than Windows Audio.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the bluetooth drivers with no success, removed and added the device. I followed a number of the steps in this thread : Bluetooth headset pairs but won't connect, not avail as playback devic , specifically the post from 11th Dec 2014 . Computer has been restarted multiple times.

I've attached an image of what I see. I can connect the headphones to the laptop, but can't listen to music. I also cannot set the headphones to default playback.

Atm, I'm listening through an aux cable, but any additional trouble shooting steps would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

hi huys,
is there any solution for my concern.
my iball pulse BT4 bluetooth headphone is not working with dell vostro 1540

Answer:iball pulse bt4 bluetooth headphone not working with my vostro 1540

Have you tested other BT (bluetooth) devices on the Vostro 1540? What BT device is installed in the Vostro 1540? What operating system are you running? You should check with iball- Chat for support and setup of their product. Assuming you read through its User Manual for troubleshooting steps.

If you connect any Bluetooth Headset or Devices using Audio + Hands-Free Profile with Windows 10 build 10049 Bluetooth Stack, it uses only Audio and doesn't allow Hands-Free use.
I have tested 2 different devices, Windows registers both profiles, but never allows Hands-Free, so it isn't possible to use cortana, teamspeak or any Voip-Application by now.
With different Bluetooth Stacks, I tested Toshiba's, it works, but other issues occur.
Previously used devices may not connect at all, because they seem to be already registered to Toshibas Stack, but not working at all. Any suggestions or ideas?

X220 tablet (about 2.5 yrs old, out of warranty) was working completely fine last night; this morning, no sound is coming from the laptop, either through speakers or through headphones (audio jack).  I am, however, able to get sound through a bluetooth-connected speaker. I had hoped this was a software issue.  Tried uninstalling/installing all sound devices, updating BIOS, updating drivers, system restore to previous date, rebooting a million times, etc.  No joy. When I run the sound troubleshooter, it says that no speaker, headset, or headphone appears to be plugged in.  The sound icon has a little red circle/white X next to it.  When I try to plug in headphones, nothing happens -- does not seem to detect the event.  When I press the mute and volume buttons on the tablet, no response. Also, under Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controllers, it lists only "Bluetooth Hands-free Audio" and "Intel Display Audio".  I don't think either of these is the normal X220 audio driver, is it?  What else should be there?  I downloaded the Conexant Audio Software from Lenovo's site (this is what came up when I searched for audio drivers for the X220 tablet), and tried to install it, but halfway through, it said the install failed because it couldn't locate the device for the driver. This sounds like it's a hardware problem -- any way to verify?  Also, which piece of hardware exactly?  Is it the sound card ... Answer:X220 tablet - sound suddenly stopped working from speakers and headphone (but not bluetooth)

If it doesn't appear in the device manager, it sounds to me like the sound chip (codec) or some support chip has died. I'm not sure how exact you want the answer to be. I think on that model, the codec is a Conexant 20672. If I am correct, the normal fix is to replace the motherboard. Many x220 machines are still under warranty. If yours is, now would be a good time to use it. You can check here:http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-service/warranty-status/default.page?

My keyboard won't stay connected to the Bluetooth. Windows disabled the Bluetooth and gave this messge: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)." What is this and how do I fix it? I can't get my Logitech K810 keybaord to stay connected. It pairs, and works for awhile, then disconnests, even though it says it is connected. Driver update says the drivers in place are the right ones. I've also tried Bluetooth dongles to connect with, but I get the same problem -- connects for a while and then disconnects.

I know I sound really dumb. But I have been listening to music on my PC for a couple of years and the speakers work, but I never tried headphones. Today I did .....and no sound is coming out..

I am using Windows Vista on an unmodified 4-year-old Dell.

The headphone connection is a simple jackplug socket, but it doesn't even give a "crackle" in my headphones when I connect it.

The sound software is Realtek HD Audio Manager. But I can find nothing in this that "enables" headphones.

There is nothing in Device Manager about headphones that I recognise.

What do I need to do to enable my headphone jackplug audio connection please?

Thanx Jonde

Answer:How do I enable headphone audio through a jackplug connection?

If you are using the front headphone jack, try the one in the back. Sometimes the one in the front is not wired properly.
Also, try the headphones elsewhere to be sure the headphones work.

Headphones are plug and play. When the jack is inserted, the sound comes out of the headphones instead of the speakers.

Hi,

I really had not this 'Bluetooth connection' before.
But, I really don't know that pairing my Nokia Bluetooth with my HP Laptop Bluetooth would add this Bluetooth connection or NOT.
I really guess this Bluetooth Connection was listed there when I connected my Lapotp Bluetooh with Nokia Bluetooth.
Thus, I will really not have any problems if I deleted it. But I am asking you what benefit of that Bluetooth Connection.
This is below was not here:

Finally Could please let me know how to use this Bluetooth Connection.(How to benefit from it)? I really use an ADSL Internet subscription, and not Dial-up connection. Also, I am connected wirelessly to a Modem-Router. Thus, what password and username should I type in the fields in the above screen shot?

Answer:'Bluetooth connection' is shown in my Network Connection suddnly.

Pairing a mobile phone will create such an entry and there's nothing to worry about. I don't think you can use it to go online since as you said you are using ADSL and if you want to go online via your modem with your phone just use the wifi connection

Question: headphone problems

Hey, I have my computer hooked up to my tv via hdmi cable. I know that the audio and video both go through that.
But when i plug in headphones, I always assumed it would switch where the audio comes from.
I have a "AMD 780G" sound card. Also, i have a 5.1 speaker system, logitech. hooked up to my tv.

When i plug the headphones in the computer, a pop up says "has been plugged it" and when I remove it, the opposite.
Im just wondering since im using hdmi is there something i have to do so when i plug in headphones it stops sound comin from the speakers and just plays in the headset?

thanks alot

Answer:headphone problems

In most systems if you have the HDMI enabled then that is the "playback device" and you won't get sound from the PC"s speakers or headphone jack.

Question: Headphone Problems

Using Razer Orca headphones with my Satellite. When I plug the headphones in, everything is normal, but when I unplug them I get no sound coming out of the laptop's speakers. I can plug it back in and hear out of the headphones again, but still nothing from the speakers. If I restart, I can hear from the speakers as long as I don't plug in the headphones.

Called Toshiba support two times and the problem appeared to be fixed, but has never stayed fixed. Speakers reconfigured, updated driver installed, updated Realtek installed.

Also, Realtek HD Audio shows the headphones as still being plugged in even when I unplug them. Not sure what is going on.

I need some help, this problem is an extreme inconvenience. Obviously I don't want to have to restart my computer everytime I want to use the speakers, especially when I paid near $1000.00 for this computer.

Help is appreciated.

Question: Headphone problems

Speakers and headphones don't work

I got a pair of headphones but they would not work at first. I played around with "Playback Devices" and the Realtek Audio Manager. At various times I either had the speakers working or the headphones, but never both. Somehow along the way I managed to lose the Realtek audio manager ... nowhere to be found anymore. But before I lost it, I set it to play both speakers and headphones at the same time. That is what I would like to be able to do. Right now, I can't even switch from one to the other. For example, I have Speakers set to "Default" but only the headphones are working at this time. Rebooting may set it back to Speakers again.

I can see the Speakers and Headphones by right clicking on the speaker icon and selecting Playback Devices. Once in that window, it appears that both are working fine. I can hear them both when I select "Test."

I haven't even tried to get the headset microphone to work yet.

I'm going to try to install Vista 64 SP2. Maybe that will help. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. Thanks.

Answer:headphone problems

Try to un-install your sound drivers and update them online once again. This problem normally appears when you are using Realtek sound drivers. With Soundmax audio drivers that are updated by default when you browse online your headphones would work perfectly right.

What you shud try if you are not using Soundmax as your default audio drivers:
1. Uninstall drivers present on your system and boot up your machine once more.
2. On next loggin make sure you are online as your vista will detect a foreign device and it will try to update it automatically.
3. If the above happens give it time to search for a correct drivers for your system.

Good afternoon, My laptop (Toshiba Satellite L650) Stopped playing sound out of the Speakers. I recently fixed this rolling drivers back, and disable/reenabling them.

This resulted in me having to disable the speakers, and restart every program that I wanted sound to play from so I was able to listen to the sound from my headphones.

Now, after almost a week, my speakers are not producing any sound at all. As they are internals, I cannot test them on something else.

I don't know whether there is an issue with my sound card, that is causing it, but my headphones play perfectly fine.

So, basically, I would like to know, how to fix my Internal speakers, and how to make the swap between Speakers and Headphones, automatic, so I don't have to close everything, and then disable the device I do not want to use.

Thank you, and have a great day.

I have a strange problem with my T410, which I recently purchased. The sound coming out from the laptop's speakers are fine, but whenever I plug-in the headphone into audio jack, the sound comes out suddenly distorted, espcially with DD5.1 and DTS encodio multitrack files. The distortion is like karaoke effect, the voice track is lowered down, only the sound effects tracks could be heard. Recently I've been having a few audio problems...
Mainly it feels really random, sometimes the sound in one application doesn't work, etc. For example, I have Windows Media Player open playing something, then I open up a game and the game has no sound. Maybe Windows sounds (eg. Start navigation) don't play when they should.
Or sometimes it's the other way around and I might have sound working fine in another problem, then when I open a file in Media Player it fails and says "Windows Media Player has encountered a problem playing this file". Sometimes if I keep trying to open that file over and over again it eventually works and has sound. Once or twice the sound has gone crackly instead of cutting out completely.
So in short the problem is really random.

After some experimentation I found that disabling headphone virtualization in the Realtek HD Audio Manager fixes the problem. But I can't live without headphone virtualization... anyway, the problem has only started happening recently so it should work properly. I tried installing the latest Realtek drivers but this caused a heap of more problems. System restore didn't fix the problem either. Can anyone shed any light on why this is happening?

Answer:Problems with headphone virtualization

try disabling this from the playback device properties in the volume control if it is enabled:

Answer:Solved: mic and headphone problems

no, they do not have to be vista compatible. Go to the website of your motherboard manufacturer and download the updated audio drivers for your motherboard. Then install them.
You can also try going into Device Manager (windows button + pause break > device manager) and making sure that there is only one active driver for audio. If there are two (or more) active audio drivers then disable one of them. that should work right away, but if not, reboot.

Hello there, my first post on this forum and i hope to be abled to help in any way if possible! I am usually pretty good at solving problems with my pc logically, but. . .

Just the other day, my younger brother managed to break my front headphone jack (green one), it is actually snapped off the circuit board within. since this happened, my rear audio jack, also green, seems to only be playing sounds really quietly, i have tried all the sound properties and options within my pc and have had no success. one thing i managed was to plug my speakers into a blue audio jack on the rear of my pc and change the options on my sound effect manager to make my pc use the blue jack as my rear speakers, doing this i can listen to music but when i play games the audio is messed up, i cant seem to make it use the blue jack as the front speakers.

so. . . im looking for a way or making my pc forget ever having a front headphone/audio jack and just using the rear one at full volume again with all of the sound comming through there, or, i was hoping there would be a way of routing all my pc's audio to the blue audio socket, my knowledge in pc audio is limited so im unsure of what to do next.
if there is software that routs all my pc,s audio to a different socket i would be greatefull for it/a link to it!
Cheers!

hi DontStare,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

The Audio Port is soldered to the Mainboard.

Have you tried using other Headphones? Just to make sure that it is not the Headphones.
Also try Reinstalling the Sound Driver.
Open Device Manager and under Sound and Gaming controllers , Uninstall the Sound driver.
Restart the computer.

If this still fails.
You can try contacting Support team to check about the repair

Answer:Headphone/microphone problems

Check that the audio in and out are not muted. In Win98 you do this by right clicking on the audio speaker at the bottom of your screen and click adjust audio properties, make sure the mic and the speakers are enabled and the check open volume controls and ensure they aren't muted. As an afterthought also check that you have the jackplugs for the headset in the correct sockets as well.

I discovered that my Headphone-Line-In is defect. Therefore I tried to call the service twice and both time the people on the phone just hang up on me!! The first time because I was not finding the M/T number fast enough and the second time because the Spanish of my girlfriend was not Colombian enough! Therefore I am here: Here is a video illustrating the problem:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snWetM4spBU The male part can wiggle just 1mm back and forth in the female part and the laptop looses contact. Consequently the laptop switches between headphones and his normal speakers. But you can hear that the jack locks properly in place and it is even very hard to disconnect again. I guess that the inside part of the headphone jack is not well anchored in his place. My second problem is my pen which did not work from the start:On the 24th of May I got a nice call from the Service and after reinstalling all driver etc. we came to the conclusion that the pen must be defect and they would send me a new one. And now finally the pen arrived and after giving him half a day of charging, he still refuses to work. Therefore I believe that also here the connection from the charging dock of the pen to the motherboard could be defect. Any thoughts? Is there a way that I can request a complete new machine? It seems that my P40 is a "Monday" production and I fear that more stuff will come loose soon! Any Tips?

Hello,

I just purchased a new notebook, and I have a bit of a problem. When I plug headphones into the side headphone jack, the sound quality is downright terrible. Very shortly I noticed that it didn't sound as good/decent as my older notebook.

The speakers seem to sound fine, well you know - as good as laptops can sound.

Right now I have two notebooks side by side:
a friends Samsung Series 3 (NP300E5C), with Windows 8 (upgraded from W7) / Microsoft High Definition audio
my Toshiba L50 Windows 8 / Realteck High Definition

I dont have my older notebook anymore, but I do remember it sounding better. Comparing this Toshiba to the Samsung (both sitting on the desk side-by-side), the Toshiba sounds a little better through the speakers, but there is no comparison with the headphone - The Samsung is pretty decent while the Toshiba makes me cry.

Now granted, I'm not expecting a symphony, but if I cant solve this I'm going to have to sell the Toshiba.

I've tried uninstalling Realtek, but I couldn't get the sound to work.
Re-installing Realtek solved nothing

One thing I noticed, there is no 'headphone' icon in the device manager (Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Sound / or simply right click the audio icon in the taskbar). Are the headphones not high definition or something?

Hello. Sadly, this is my first post on Lenovo forums. I've bought Ideapad Y510P this week and here I have first problem with it. It's a new computer, been only transported in car laying flat in its box. Today was the first day I've tried out plugging headphones in. When I plug them all the way in, only right part works. The left side is all silent. When I try to plug them in slowly, only left side works until I plug them all way in and then only the right side gives out sound. When I plug my headphones halfway in (very hard to achieve and the jack doesn't want to stay in at all), both sides give out sound properly. Tried with 3 different working pairs of headphones.Checked all the drivers (Realtek HD Audio) and it is working. The speakers work wonderfully as well, only the headphone jack gives me problems. What could be wrong?

Since I upgraded to a video ipod and since an ipod touch I've gone through 4 sets of decent headphones - inc Shure, Sennheisser etc. In each case one channel either goes completely or is very faint. It can't be the model (unless I'm really unlucky having it happen to 2 different devices), it can't be the headphones - 4 different brands either. Logic says its the software, I've kept my itunes updated and no-one reckons it can be. Apple have given me a phone number and said that it can be checked out but even if it is replaced it might continue and I'm out of pocket! The only earphones that work, interestingly enough are the ones supplied with it but they are so uncomfortable!Help, anyone??

Answer:ipod/itouch headphone problems

It could well be the headphone socket. I've noticed that on my Touch that I occasionally have to wiggle the plug to get both earphones working. It rarely does it on the Apple headphones but does it on my Sony's.

Hi guys

I got rid of my mic. and headphone jacks on the front of my PC. My sound is hooked up from the back of my PC(onboard sound) to my stereo receiver.

When I have the mic. and headphone jacks unplugged from my mobo, I get a horrible buzzing sound without any PC sound(music and what-not) from my stereo even when my PC is off.

I modded my case and there is no longer a spot to put the jacks except for lying on the bottom of my PC case, Where they are now so my sound works.

Is there anything I can do to get rid of the mic/headphone jacks and still have the sound work on my PC? Can I make a jumper out of the mic/headphone mobo plug or get a sound card to fix the problem?

I'm having issues with my X230 using headphones through the headphone jack both on Windows 7 Pro and 10 Pro with the latest BIOS v2.63 installed. The sound comes out very compressed and quiet when using headphones and those headphones works well on other devices. The sound through the built in speakers and my bluetooth speaker is working correctly so it's just the headphone jack that seems to have this issue.  I have tried several sets of drivers both in Windows and all have the same affect on the headphone sounds. It seems the the Windows sounds (statup, alerts etc.) are fine however sounds from applicaitons such as Skype or YouTube videos are compressed and quiet.  Has anyone else had this issue as I have seen some posts on X230 sound issues but nothing conclusive on what can be done to resolve headphone problems?

Answer:X230 Headphone Sound Problems

Looks like a bad connection on the motherboard as I can move the plug around and the sound comes back for a short time. As this is out of warranty I will have a go at repairing the socket with a small tipped soldering iron as mentioned on this forum previously.

hi !
ASUS X42F, laptop with combined microphone in / headphone out jack,
how can i connect both a microphone & a headphone ?

Answer:Laptop with combined mic/headphone jack, how to connect both mic & headphone ?

I haven't used one that had the port as a combined unit but I would assume you would need a headphone set with mic that has combined wiring, such as sets used for cell phones and such. You can also purchase an adapter that will split the port into 2 ports for mic and headphones.
Hope that gives you an idea

I have Lenovo 3000 Y410 laptop having Windows 7 Home Premium installed on it. Realtek HD Audio latest driver is installed. But from the last 3 days, when I connect headphone through laptop, following things happen : -
1) Headphone connected popup doesn't show up.
2) Mic of Headphone connected pop shows up.

3) When I play video, sound coming from both headphone & laptop speakers.
4) When I mute sound by muting sound icon in taskbar, sound then comes only from headphone.

What I have tried?
1) Installed new Realtek HD Audio Manager.
2) Installed OS again.
3) Tried to change settings in Realtek Hd Audio Manager. But Nothing changes.

When I input headphone & mic jacks into laptop, & then check Realtek HD Audio Manager. The following image shows this : -

The green in realtek hd audio manager is for headphone & red is for mic. In the image, it is shown that headphone not connected & mic connected. But even headphone not connected shows up, sound coming form headphone.

I want to get sound from only headphone when headphone is connected. Is this a hardware problem ?

Please help....

Answer:Sound coming from both headphone & speaker but headphone is not detect

My Realtek HD Audio Manager has more options than yours.

Also, I notice you only have the microphone in the Recording Section of the Sound Panel. RIGHT click in an empty space in that Panel and then LEFT click Show Disabled and Disconnected devices. The Stereo Mix should be shown and you can enable that and make it the default Recording device.

Where did you get the RealTek driver that you installed? If you are not using the Lenovo supplied sound driver, get that and install it as a first step. I have a Lenovo Laptop and it has Stereo Mix and other functions. I haven't looked at the RealTek HD manager so I'm not sure what all it shows.

Hello Eight Forums.

My trouble is the audio output through headphones - background is louder than foreground (especially in music - I often cannot hear the vocals at all; movies however are mostly fine, for reasons unknown to me; but generally, the sound is always different in some way).

I only have one pair of headphones to test it with. However these always worked fine with previous machines, and still do work fine with my iPhone 4. Although they are surely not the case, I cannot with confidence say that if it were a loudspeaker instead things wouldn't have been different.

So this is either a software or a hardware issue.

Software

My computer (details at the bottom) came with a SoundBlaster X-Fi MB3 equalizer program and RealTek High Def Audio drivers. I've uninstalled SoundBlaster hoping it would fix the issue (I didn't need an extra program like that anyway) but alas to no avail. Updating the RealTek drivers did no good still.

The only thing I haven't touched is the ghostly NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (can it be the source of my trouble?) - I only first noticed it now when copy/pasting the Belarc data. I'll try and find out about it in the meanwhile.

Hardware

I wonder if it perhaps has something to do with my audio jack (laptop's brand new, but you can never know). I have what appears to be mic, headphone, S/PDIF and line in jacks... Is there a way to use the microphone or the line-in to test the headphones? To see if the headphone out is broken.

Any help appreci... Read more

Answer:Messed up headphone audio; want to check headphone jack

First, the "My System Specs" is where you fill in what you have.

Does the internal speakers on the laptop work? Is the audio OK on the internal speakers?

The SoundBlaster program(s) is a software enhancement to the basic audio chip (ReaklTek). Many PC's now come with some type of enhancement such as the SoundBlaster or in the case of HP PC's its "Beats Audio".

I have a nokia 920. I had it replaced about a year ago from warranty because of the problem with the headphone jack. This replacement ended up having the same problem. Basically it switches in and out of headphone mode constantly. This drains the battery and makes phone calls impossible. I have lived with this for a year.
My upgrade is coming soon. I want to know if I should look at new nokia phones or look phones? Do new nokia phones still have problems with the headphone jack?

Answer:Do new nokia phones still have problems with the headphone jack?

Headphone jack issues were never that common, so the odds are that you'll be fine. Even with your luck.
