changing email address and put email back to server (outlook 2013)

Question: changing email address and put email back to server (outlook 2013)

Hello.
I've just found a pst file with all my old email. I'd like to put them back on the server (hotmail) but before doing that I've seen that some of them were not recived (or sent) to my actual address (@hotmail.com) but to an old one (@infinito.it). So I was thinking to export them from outlook 2013 to CSV, modify that address into the new one and then import them back on outlook 2013. The problem is that when I export them to CSV, in that file they don't have the date (received or sent) and so when I get them back on outlook 2013 they miss that info.
Can anyone help me doing this? I've been told that VBA macro should be useful for this, but having a look in it I have no idea of what I sould do.
Ah, instead of outlook 2013 I can also use thunderbird (45.3.0) if it's easier with it, but then I'd have to convert that pst file.
Thanks!

Preferred Solution: changing email address and put email back to server (outlook 2013)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If I eliminate one email address and add a new one in Outlook 2010, will my address book remain unchanged? Thanks

Answer:Changing email address in outlook

It SHOULD not erase your address book but also consider that you can export your address book for backup as well. Backups are important so if you do this, it's a non-issue

I have had to reinstall pc due to it going at a crawl!!

After installing Outlook 2002, I can not get Outlook to auto fill the email address field when I start to type an email address in it.

The address book is there and in tacked after copying the outlook.pst file back to its original location after install.

How do I get Outlook to autofill?

Also when I click the 'TO' button in the new email window, it says that there is no address book!
but when I click the address book icon in the main Outlook window there are email address there?!

Any ideas how I can get this to work correctly again.

Answer:reinstalled pc, now create email in Outlook 2002 does not auto fill email address like before

When you did the re-install, did you erase/format the hard drive before the re-install? If you did and did not save the Outlook auto fill file, then the all the auto fills you had are gone. Did you import the pst file into outlook?

When trying to email to a specific internal email account, my email leaves my system and

Will: No offense, but your post sounds like you're saying you're sending it from one account to another, but it's not being received at the other account, which is the administrator---but the administrator receives it?

I'll bet you have not heard this one before. I was attempting to send an email to a potential client. Everything seemed to work well except that it was returned. The problem was that the address was changed somewhere. His name is spelled with a j but somewhere along the line, it was changed to a k and so there was no such person and therefore was returned to me.

hello:

i have been trying to fix my email/outlook spam issue.  emails are going out WITH my actual email address, sending emails to people in my contacts, etc.
I also have been getting a ton of spam emails myself.

I use:

-Windows 7 Pro
-64 Bit
-Outlook 2010
-I have our own domain name email address, that is hosted by Frontier

Odd thing:  I changed my password for my email, but my outlook kept sending/receiving with the old password.
When I tried to update  the new password in outlook (which I verified by using the webmail versus outlook), it would not accept it.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hi guys heres one that is driving me nuts.
an email account is set up with an isp here , its btconnect.com
so the email is say [email protected]
now joe has two email aliases on his account e.g.

[email protected]
and
[email protected]

now when joe accesses his account through outlook it obviously checks the btconnect account and sends the mail to the correct alias, but it cant seem to do it.
what happens is , it logs on checks one alias then the server errors whilst checking the other as it is still logged on i assume to the main btconnect mail account and so errors out

e.g [email protected] works and roofing.co.uk errors out
i would like to find a way to check flooring first and roofing after but cant figure it out
someone suggested using identities in outlook express but isnt outlook the better program and surely there is some kind of feature for this problem

usually after it gets its bearings it is then happy and says send receive complete but after a couple of tries and leaving an error message at the bottom of the screen
0x800cc0f
as it is trying to check the two accounts on the same email address at the same time.
any ideas anyone
i am even willing to try thunderbird instead
just the managers like the calender etc in outlook

Answer:Outlook Using 2 email aliases on one email address

still no ideas on this one.
maybe using rules in outlook would help.
I could just check mail from the BT account
e.g. [email protected] and filter the mail for the aliases into the corresponding mail box, but how then if a mail is written in outlook could it be send from the correct account.
e.g [email protected] or [email protected] rather than the mail appearing as though it was sent from [email protected] , wow outlook is confusing stuff lol.

With all the problems I have experienced with Bigfoot recently, I have decided not to use them any more. I therefore need to advise a number of people/organisations that I have a new email address.

I am using Outlook 2003 within Windows XP.I have one folder containing all recent emails which have been sent to me via Bigfoot. However, I have older emails which I have filed in other folders within my Personal Folders.

Can anyone help me by identifying a tool which can extract all the emails that have my Bigfoot address in the "to" field, stripping out duplicates from the same person/organisation, so that I end up with a file which contains an alphabetical list, sorted by "From" details?

Hope that makes sense!

I have to change my email address because my ISP has a different provider. How can I send the same email to everyone in my address book? Also how can I export (import?) my address book to my new provider? Will appreciate any help or tell me where I can find instructions to do this. Thanks

I need to clarify. I use Netscape Messenger and want to transfer my address book (also bookmarks)
from my old ISP to my new ISP. I have copied my address book to a floppy but cannot get it into the address book on the Netscape Messenger of my new ISP. I'm frustrated--can you help. Many thanks.

Answer:Changing email address

Hiya

For the importing and exporting have a look here:

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q175/0/17.ASP

and this is about backing them up

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q188/8/54.asp

I assume you're using Outlook express.

I don't know if this will work, as I don't use Outlook, but here goes.

Select the addresses you want in your address book. Click File | Export and save it in My Documents. Write your email, and put the Distribution file name (the one you saved) in the TO or CC.

So I want to change the email address associated with my microsoft account. The only problem is I am currently using a microsoft-enabled account for windows 10. So my old email I want to change from literally has an account on this computer. My question is, when I change my microsoft email, will everything auto-update on my win 10 PC? Will my account name on my PC now change to the new email? Will there be any "remnants" of the old email that will not be able to be removed without having to make a totally new account on my PC?

Answer:Changing my microsoft email address

The physical user account on the PC does not change. It stays in the same folder under users. The Microsoft Account is only a method of logging into the physical user account on the computer. You will have to change the user account on the computer to disassociate it from the old Microsoft account, and then convert it back to a Microsoft account login with the new email address.

Hi,I'm with Wannado Anytime and have an email from the year dot which is used everywhere - to change it would be undoable ! They tell me that the email address is automatically put into a pay as you go dial up account when I leave but now I'm upgrading to a broadband account elsewhere which will be the best way (and fastest) to access the emails? Are there broadband isp's who offer this collection service or is staying with Wannado the best thing to do? I'm sure there are other isp's with a better deal - does anyone have a suggestion ? CheersRichard.

Answer:changing to broadband but email address ??........

if by pay as you go you mean that there is no charge for the service and you just pay for the time online through your phone line then there is no reason why you shouldnt keep the account open and setup outlook express (or whichever e-mail prog you use) to check both your new and your old account. On NTL, during the change from dialup to broadband you can keep the same e-mail address but you have already said that isnt possible.it seems you have three choices1, upgrade with the same isp.2, do as i suggested above if your dial up is a free one (no monthly charge)3, ditch the old e-mail address, upgrade to BB and start afresh (not a good option)

Outlook 2003 email address changing from SMTP to EX. All of the addresses that's changing are within our domain. When it changes to Ex type, it renders the address unreachable, via Blackberry users, Pearl handhelds. It works on other models.

It also doesnt matter if you re-enter the email address. It will revert in to Ex, since it's the users being enter are in the domain.

I'm using Outlook Express 5. Recently because of being sick and tired of all the email spam, I changed my email address. If I had realized how easy it was, I would have done it a long time ago. All I had to do was call my ISP and in 2 minutes it was done.

Here's the problem, when ever I send someone an email, if they just hit reply and send me one back, it defaults back to my old email address which of course is no longer a valid address.

How do I fix this so that when someone replies to me, it comes back to my new email address. I've fished around in OE but don't really see where to do this. Thanks.

Answer:Problem after changing email address?

Sorry, never mind. I was able to resolve this with my ISP. Thanks anyway.

UPDATE #2 - Seems this problem is inherent in Outlook 2013 design - see http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/newmailalert.htm
The "OutlookTools" App does not seem to work with Outlook 2013, but I did change the Registry Key as stated so that the Desktop Message stays up for 5 hours (long enough for me).
I would still like the Envelope Icon on the Task Bar for emails with Rules applied, if at all possible.
I also found this link useful and have implemented the changes. . . http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/newmailalert.htm#allfoldersrule
UPDATE: This fix does not solve the problem . . . http://www.msoutlook.info/question/398
Right click Task Bar and under PROPERTIES / CUSTOMIZE I have checked the box which says "Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar."
But even if I uncheck this box and tell Outlook to show Icons and Notifications, it fails to show up if I have a RULE set in Outlook.

In Outlook 2013, how do I keep the Play a Sound and Desktop Message and Email Alert icon in the Task Bar if I create a new RULE for incoming email?

With no RULE (Filter) in place, when I receive an email in Outlook 2013 I get all three of these. Fine.
These settings are made in FILE / OPTIONS / MAIL under "Message Arrival"

But if I make a RULE for incoming mail, e.g. to redirect it from the INBOX to another FOLDER, I still get a Desktop Message and Sound Alert, but the ENVELOPE ICON in the task bar is disabled.

running windows 10 outlook 2013 and I clicked on an email that was junk or spam. But got a pop up from outlook stating contacting what i can only assume is the email client. Was this an attempt from the recipient to steal info from me. Or is this normal on outlook 2013. Concerned but my computer does not have any secure information on it. Ran numerous scans with bit defender malwarebytes superantispyware. and came up clean.

any help would be appreciated thank you

Answer:outlook 2013 email question

This is going to be very difficult to answer without additional information.

It is not uncommon at all for e-mail clients to download nothing but the message header, but not the message content, until you try to open it.  This saves bandwidth and lets you mark stuff as junk without ever having opened the message or downloaded the message content.

It's also not uncommon, if this is how you have Outlook configured, to get a message if the Outlook client is trying to retrieve the message body from the server and that is delayed for any reason.

If you still have the message and/or can do a screen capture (Alt+Prt Sc) of the message dialog and post it that would be helpful.  I'm willing to bet that the message dialog would not appear again if the content was fetched the last time you touched the e-mail message under discussion.

I have done no changes other than the standard updates thru MS.
Contacted Charter and went through troubleshooting - they say its a MS Outlook issue. I am able to send/receive thru my web based accounts @ Charter.
I have gone through "safe mode" w/ MS tech and wants a ton of money, didn't fix anything!
I am on a hotel wifi network but have been for months and this just started a few days ago.
On a quirky sidenote: The B/G color always wants to default to white. I always had it dark grey, changes back to white when I restart Outlook.

I've found the Windows 8.1 Mail App uses the wrong 'From' address when clicking on 'mailto:' links.

With Outlook.com you can set it up to send and receive email from an external mailbox account instead of from the Outlook.com account. Basically Outlook.com acts as an email client and sends and receives from external email accounts via POP/SMTP. If I create a new email from scratch or reply to emails, everything works properly and it sends all emails from my external email address as it should. However, if I click a mailto: link, it ignores all the settings and uses my Microsoft Account (@live) email address as the 'from' address.

The settings in the Outlook.com account are set to send email from my external email address and also the settings in the Windows 8 Mail App are set to use my 'Preferred Email Address', which is one from my external email account. Other than that I can't see how to change it, so I'm thinking maybe it was overlooked when they made the Mail app?

Realistically, I think maybe mailto: links should use whatever the 'Preferred Email Address' is set to in the Mail App? Unless anyone has any ideas on a work around?

For years I have used Microsoft Office but never used the Outlook part for emails. With Live Mail on its way out I thought that I would try it out. I have set up my accounts and can send and receive with no problems and it is slowly populating all the various Received/Sent/Deleted sections.
I have loads of contacts in the Contacts section but what I have yet to figure out is how to get the To: box to autocomplete the email address as I start to type in the recipients name. I am finding that I have to look up the email address and get that inserted. I am sure that there must be an auto complete but I have yet to find it.
All suggestions gratefully received.

Answer:Using Microsoft Office 2013 OUtlook email

As far as I'm aware, there is no auto complete function on Outlook. Then again, I might be totally wrong. Terribly sorry that I can't be much more help.

Checking a web based email (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail) with Outlook is as safe as doing it using the web browser (Firefox, etc)? I know that using the browser is safe since the connection is encrypted, but I'm unsure about Outlook. Thanks for your feedback.

Answer:Outlook 2013 email security question

Outlook 2013 supports encryption, but this is a question of an advanced e-mail account setup.

To check encryption settings go to Control panel - Mail - Email Accounts - Click on your E-mail - Change - More Settings - Advanced.

Our company uses Google mail for our email service. I have two IMAP accounts set up in Outlook 2013. Recently, all of the old Sent folder contents disappeared for one of the accounts and newly sent emails do not show up in it as well. The sent folder is working fine for the other account.

All of the sent messages do show up in the Sent folder when I access the account with my web browser. Recipients are receiving the emails. If I reply to an email in Outlook some of the received emails show an icon that I have replied, but not all of them. As far as I know, I have not changed any settings in Outlook 2013 or on the Google server.

Do I need to be checking and changing a setting in Outlook 2013 and or on the Google server?

A coworker reported today that they are having the same problem with their account. We are both running Windows 8.1 Pro.

Answer:Outlook 2013 Sent email folder always empty

I would say that this is a change that was at the server level of Google mail.

What are the settings for the sent mail in Options?
They should be in Outlook
File, Options, Mail
Then scroll down to the Save messages and make sure that there is a check mark for "Save copy.......sent file folder"
OK yourself out.

Whenever I create a folder all items that are placed in that folder get grouped by date, i.e. Today, Last Week, Two Weeks Ago... I want to have all items just listed one after another.

I know how to ungroup the items in an individual folder one folder at a time but I would like to have all items start out as ungrouped automatically whenever I create a new folder.

I've done this before but I can't remember how I did it!

Thanks!

Having .iaf type accounts from former Outlook (2000) and Outlook Express, is there a way to import these into Outlook 2013 rather than manually keying them on a restore?

added:
- From what I've been gathering, this cannot be done. That signatures have to be manually recreated. This right? Even when restoring Outlook 2013 to Outlook 2013 - they aren't stored in a retrievable spot?

When I open an email message in Outlook 2013 the image are blocked. these areas display a red x placeholder.

Answer:Outlook 2013 email messages do not contain images

Hi there.
Thats the default for outlook, it's a security feature. outlook will block images to protect against viruses etc.
If you have the reading pane set to on you will see a blue exclamation mark next to that will be the following message "Click here to download pictures. To protect your privacy, Outlook prevented automatic download of some pictures in this message"
If you click that you will then get a pop up that gives you the following options, Download Pictures, Change automatic download settings, add sender to safe senders list and add the domain to the safe senders list.
I wouldn't recommend changing the automatic download settings as images / pictures are one of the common ways of nasties coming in.
If you don't have the reading pane set to on then if you click the email to open it, the blue exclamation mark will then again appear under your name in the email header.
Hope this is of help.

I want to create a custom form to always show the outlook attachment field.

We work with a lot of PDF files and would like to be able to drag and drop PDF pages from Adobe Reader Pro to the message body of the new e-mail. This is exctracting a PDF page directly into a newly composed e-mail.

The described function above only works when there is already one attachment added, when a PDF page is extracted into the new e-mail message body and it is the first attachment Outlook 2013 does not attach the file,

Because of this reason I want to create a custom form for composing new e-mail messages, on this form I would like to always have the attachment field visible, even when empty.

I have been in the form editor, but the field is called "Attached", this field is nowhere to be found. I can add a field "Attachment", but this is a YES/NO field with a tickbox.

Does anyone have experience in how to do the above?

I've never run into this issue before. I went to check email this morning and it fails with the message: "receiving reported error 0x800CCC0F. The connection to the server was interrupted".

My username and password are correct and I didn't change any settings since last night when it worked. I did restart my computer this morning due to Windows automatic updates needing to be installed.

edit: Can't check email from my iPhone either.

Answer:cannot recieve email (Outlook 2013) after updates

Fixed. I went to xfinity.comcast.net to see if I could log in and check my email. It says my password was reset due to unauthorized usage. I made a new password and now my email works.

I guess my issue with emails was bad: http://www.sevenforums.com/system-se...dn-t-send.html

I am using Outlook 2003 and run Windows XP.

When I create a new message I begin typing the name of the recipient and I would like it to match up with an address I have in my Outlook contact list. However, it does not read from there. It only seems to look at addresses that I have already sent to in the past. How can I get it to read from the address book? If I click on "TO" or "CC" it brings up another window with a list of addresses from my contact list. From there I can have it pull from the list. I would like to be able to do it withot the extra step.

Thanks!

Answer:Solved: Outlook 2003 dowes not automatically pull address from address book for email

That is how autocomplete works, from used addresses stored in the NK2 file.
This explanation and keyboard shortcut might help you.

I thought I would try to come into the current century and maybe switch my internet service provider from the one I signed up for in 1992 (wow, the Internet was available way back then . . . ?).

As I begin to shop around, I got to wondering, if I allow my current provider service to lapse, will I still have access to my current email address or will I need to change? I guess I've heard differing opinions on this. It seems unreasonable for my provider to maintain my account, since those inbound/outbound message (or maybe just the inbound ones) reside on the provider's server, until I access them, right? Alternately, it almost seems like more trouble to close that email account, than to just leave it, on the hopes that the customer might return one day.

Clearly, I don't want to continue to pay for two providers, and one just to maintain my existing email address. What's the definitive word on that?

Answer:Changing Internet Provider - Email Address Cancelled?

The definitive word is that it depends. AOL, for example, now allows you to keep your email address. With most ISPs, maybe all other ones, your email, web site, etc., are gone the day you stop paying.

Supanet used to me my main email account but is now a secondary one - following a change of ISP. Since changing ISP I have been able to recieve (into Windows Mail) emails to my supanet address but not to send emails from this address (even if this were posible I would not want to do this as I am migrating all my email activity as Supanet want to charge 3.99 for continuing to use the address.)
But Windows Mail seems to select the Supanet address when I am replying to an email - irrespective which of my email addresses the original message came into. How can I change this?

Answer:Changing email address for replies in Windows Mail

The email address in your outgoing mail is specified in the "Account" settings you set up in the program. If you have multiple "Accounts" set up, new messages will have a drop-down menu from which to select either the default address or an alternative address.
The address on the received email is irrelevant to the address used when replying.

I would like to change my internet service from Verizon to Time Warner, but I?m afraid it will be a big headache. I have 6 years of history with a Verizon email name ([email protected]). I just ordered 100 business cards with my Verizon address on them. How can I change all the sites I have visited but don?t have a record of in my address book ? ex. sites I have given my email address to? And what about all the people I have given my address to over the years who aren?t in my address book ? I can?t remember them all! I know there?s a way to transfer my outlook email to a new address but will it be complicated? These types of things never go smoothly for me!Can I create a new email address and keep it while keeping the Verizon service going ? this would give me more time to get everything switched over to the new address, then down the road I can get Time Warner internet service? I?ve been told that ?gmail? would be a good place to get a new address. Does anyone know anything about this? Can I have 2 different addresses related to my one Outlook?I know that I will have a few months of forwarding from my current service, but I don?t think it will be enough. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Changing internet service providers/email address.

Set it to automatic forward to your new email, setup a vacation message (anyone who send an email to you, will get an automatic message, in that message let them know your new email), talk Verizon about your situation. BTW Verizon Fios is better than TWC. You can have as many email linked to your outlook, why not just get a gmail or yahoo or AOL instead? It's never a good idea to used their email in the 1st place, basically every site you visited, you have to edit it manually or start all over. I suggest in the future you create a personal email like gmail and a junk mail for spam and ad. If you have a smartphone, link your email with your phone, your contact will always be updated.

I have just updated to Outlook 2013 from 2003 a mistake I know.

I always like to have my list of emails above and the individual email open below.

Now with 2013 it uses so much of the bottom pane for displaying stuff I don't want like the photo place holder and the font is huge for the header of the email.

I have looked in the settings and can't find anything to shrink this down more like 2003 and a Google search hasn't turned up anything (probably using the wrong search terms).

Is it possible to do anything about this?

Hello,

Previously used Win XP, Outlook 2003 32bit. We backed up our emails using software called msgsave. This allowed us to select which folders where to be backed up and saved each email as separate .msg files using a naming convention we could choose (eg Received date - Subject - From).

This allowed us to easily search for an email and drag and drop it back into outlook if required.

We have now upgraded to to Win 7, Outlook 2013 64bit and found that msgsave does not work with 64 bit versions of outlook.

Does anybody have suggestions for similar software?

If not, does anybody have suggestions for a different way to back up?

TIA

Send/Receive error message reads: "Sending reported error (0x80042109):"Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail serve. If you continue to receive this message, conntact your server administrator or internet service provider (ISP)."

Checked with earthlink, my email provider, and all account settings are correct. My Outlook e-mail account also stopped working on Monday.
The only thing I can think of is that Microsoft released an update that dissabled Outlook. Has anyone else had this problm?

But I can't find any info on what was changed in that update. The last update before that was on "Patch Tuesday" the 10th, and the Office version didn't change the 24th. It's still 15.0.4693.1002 so somewhat confusing...

Furthermore they are not shown in the File tab of Outlook under the Account Information heading.

If I then attempt to add the extra accounts again I see the message below -

As described in the title. I have a colleague who has to work through a large amount of old emails in his particular folder. Whilst he has scrolled down to look at older mail he finds that when a new email arrives it automatically goes back to the top of the folder to display the newly arrived message.

Is there a setting to turn off so that he can work further down the folder and then manually scroll back up to view new mail rather than it doing it automatically?

Thanks

I use Outlook 2013 at work (Exchange email) and I added my Outlook (formerly Hotmail) personal email as well, expecting to be able to seamlessly manage 2 profiles. Alas, that's not the case as I get duplicates from my personal email into my work email.
I also have Exchange set up on my android phone, and see the duplicates popping up there. How do I fix this? Do I need to set up multiple Outlook profiles? I want to live out of Outlook desktop and have migrated to all Microsoft products, but this is making it a bit frustrating.
My assumption is the following:one Outlook profile = 2 accounts (work & personal)one email loads into Outlook 2013 desktop, regardless of address, and that gets sent to my Android device because it's all on one profile (I'd separate the profiles, but then I'd have to choose a profile during Outlook startup, which is ridiculous)Android device loads everything into singular email client, because it's not smart enough to split things outExchange gets confused and reloads that personal email into my work sent, even though it clearly has a separate email address1 email now shows in my personal sent and my work sent
Let me know if the above is plausible in any way. It's definitely bothersome from a privacy perspective as personal emails are getting loaded into my work PST, and only fuels my desire to move onto a Windows Phone.

Answer:Outlook 2013 Multiple Email Accounts = Duplicates

I dont understand this.
I have in my desktop Outlook 2013, exchange account and Microsoft account (outlook.com). I have no problems. Both emails come to their own folders.
Do you somehow forward/move the outlook.com emails to you exchange inbox in you desktop outlook? That would cause them to be duplicated in to all devices of course.

I had a strange email returned from a colleague today.

He sent me a screen capture of an email from me that got flagged up on his MacBook Pro.

This email was sent only to him and yet had multiple email addresses of people that I know in it too. There was also a line in it showing http://themythoffargus.com/give.php?steve

I ran antivirus and malwarebytes and nothing flagged up.

Has anyone else had strange stuff going on?

I am running Windows 10.

Am beginning to wonder if Microsoft ever launch a product that works with other Microsoft products.

First all the browsers no matter where stopped working in windows 8. I tried command prompt as admin netsh winsock r (worked on 1st computer running win 8 that the browsers failed on) , but this had no effect so I did a clean boot which seems to have resolved this issue (2nd computer with win 8 on that the browsers stop working but internet running fine on them.).
Before this was done all of sudden outlook 2013 decided when starting to display the message: Either there is no default mail client or the current client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft outlook and set it as the default mail client.

Now this I have done in all 3 areas, outlook, control panel and internet options within the IE browser. But nothing changes and they were all 3 set as default anyway.

Anyone have any idea why this happening and if there is a fix as I am getting to the point where I am beginning to despair with win 8 and outlook 2013 respectively, and recommend roll backs till they get their act together and sort them out.

For the first couple weeks I had the program, the saved email displays each individual email size. But after a certain point, all the emails now display "0 bytes" under the size column.

The emails send with no problem, and save into the folder with no problem, it's just that for some reason something changed and that folder now shows each email as "0 bytes".

Any thoughts?

My Dell Inspiron15 runs Outlook 2013 for email and in recent times it is pretty slow to send and receive emails. In simple terms please can anybody suggest how I can improve this? It is slow with all emails not those with attachments.
I have just uninstalled McAfee anti-virus and replaced it with Avast free version but it was running slow way before I changed anti-virus software.

Answer:Outlook 2013 slow to send and receive email

Hi BingoBoy,
There might be several reasons for this issue like internet connection, add-ins conflicting with send\receive function, profile corruption etc.
I would like to ask questions on the issue:

What is the type of email account configured in Outlook (POP, IMAP, MAPI or Exchange)?
Do you receive any error message in Outlook?

Click on "File Tab">> "Account Settings" >> "Email tab", double click on the email account and click on "Test Account Settings" and check if you receive any error message.
Open Outlook in safe mode. Follow the steps mentioned to open Outlook in safe mode:
• Close Outlook.
• Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to open Run window.
• In Run window and type outlook /safe
Note: There is a space between 'outlook' and '/'.
If you are able to work with Outlook without any problem then the issue might be due to add-ins. In order to disable the add-ins follow the steps given below:
• In Outlook, click on "File Tab" >> "Options" >> "Add-ins".
• Under Manage select COM Add-ins.
• Click on GO options beside Manage, uncheck all the add-ins and click Ok.
• Try to open Outlook and check if it works fine.
If the issue persists in safe mode too, create a new profile, configure the email account in new profile and check. Refer to the link mentioned to create new profile
click here hope the above suggestion will help you.

My girlfriend's almost three year old Dell Desktop machine, running WinXP, has recently developed a problem. She connects to the net via a 56K dialup. For the past 4 or 5 days she's been getting a lot of SPAM in her main MSN email box whereas before most of it was getting routed to her bulk mail folder. When she checked her MSN email settings she discovered that some of the boxes she had unchecked to insure that most SPAM would go to the bulk mail folder were now checked. (Checking the boxes in question allows the type of email described after each box to be routed to the user's main email inbox while unchecking a box is supposed to insure that the type of email described will be routed to the user's bulk mail folder. I trust I make myself obscure?!)

She once again unchecked those items/settings but after an hour or two upon examining them again she finds that they are once again checked which allows lots of SPAM to clutter up her "regular" (i.e. "wanted") email.

She has repeated this process about a half-dozen times over the past few days and each time the boxes she has unchecked in her email preferences are again checked when she examines the settings later.

She has up-to-date Norton AV signatures and a full NAV scan shows no problems. She updated her Ad-Aware signatures and ran a full scan and found nothing with that either. What should we try next? HijackThis? Some other anti-spyware/malware program? Anyone seen t... Read more

Answer:MSN email settings keep changing back to allow SPAM

MSN email (Hotmail) is a web based email client. It is very likely not her machine that is the problem here; instead the problem is with Hotmail.

Your girlfriend really needs to bring her system up2date. Problems with Microsoft Updates are most often caused by viruses/malware. Using MS to keep your drivers up2date is not recommended, as more often than not the driver updates cause problems.

Fist do the following:

Please follow the steps below:

- Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

- Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis:

Hi...new to this today! I have a Dell computer using Windows XP. My email address is a TinyWorld address with Tiscali. I would like to keep the same email address but change the server (host). Can someone very kindly tell me in layman's terms how to do this. Many thanks.

Answer:changing email server(host)

Hi mulberry2, and welcome to TSG.

In layman's terms, if you have any e-mail address ending in @tinyworld.co.uk, you are not able to use a different mail server to host that particular address.

The best that you may be able to achieve is if TinyWorld allows you to forward incoming e-mails to a different address on a different host. The incoming e-mails would still pass through the tinyworld.co.uk server.

I have a situation where someone has 2 email addresses. One of them is now redundant and I have deleted it from the People section. However, when I am set to make a new email to that person and type the first letter of their name, in the pop up window (that you can click on) their old email address still appears.
How do I delete this from that list? Can find no way to do so.

Answer:Outlook Email - Deleting Wrong Email Entry when starting new email

In new email, start typing the address you want to remove. When you have enough characters for auto complete to show it (sometimes one letter is enough), use DOWN ARROW key on keyboard to select the address in question and press DEL key.

That's it.

Is there a quick way to create a new contact group containing the email addresses of all of the recipients in the "To" and/or "cc" lists of an email in Outlook 2013?

There are times where I will receive an email from a customer that will have me and a couple of other people in the To list and some more in the cc list. I can do a Reply All to get my response to everybody, but some times I need to start a new email and send to and cc it to the same group of people at a later date. Some of the people may not be in my address book. Some of the cc lists may contain 20 or more addresses for people at 3 or more companies.

I tried to start a new contacts group and then selecting all of the addresses in the cc list of an open message and dragging them to the empty list, but it was not permitted.

This is a weird problem: in outlook 2013, I click New Email and the new email window opens on top but somewhat slowly and the says (for just a second or two) Not Responding, then it is underneath the main outlook window. I click on the new email form to get it on top and start typing the address and then click on the address I want and it goes through the same procedure, ending with the new email underneath the outlook window. I click on it to bring it on top and from then on it is more or less normal, occasionally giving me the Not Responding message on the top bar.

Very annoying as it takes about 3 seconds each time it starts doing its Not-Responding-Underneath thing.

Anybody have any ideas what is going on? You guys saved my bacon a while back so I figure maybe somebody knows!

Answer:Outlook 2013 new email window slow and stays underneath

I archived a lot of emails and after a day or so it seems to have fixed itself. It didn't right after I archived the emails, but I day later it was working fine. No idea what the problem was, other than possibly a lot of emails clogging it up.
