Headset mic recording sounds through headset?

Question: Headset mic recording sounds through headset?

I've searched around a lot about this topic, but after hours and days of searching, I've found nothing to fix my problem. I have a headset that has speakers and a microphone (3.5mm jacks) that work fine, except when I'm trying to talk to someone using the microphone, they can hear the sounds coming from my headset (youtube videos, game sounds etc). I've tried installing the Realtek HD Audio Codec but it disappears after it finishes installing and after I restart (although it still remains in the Programs and Features uninstall page), the program files for it is empty with the exception of RtlUpd64.exe which doesn't do anything when executed and a few other files.
In device manager, the things I have under sound, video and game controllers are Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus and the Intel Display Audio. I've updated everything to the latest. Also, I recently system restored my computer and before I did I had IDT High Definition Audio Drivers, but after updating they were changed.
I think the problem is that stereo mix is enabled somewhere or something to do with my drivers as when I tried plugging my headset into my brother's computer, it worked fine (he has the Gigabyte Realtek Audio Manager thing and was able to adjust the stereo mix settings).
If there's a program or workaround to this, or how to disable the stereo mix like through registry or something, please let me know.
My computer is a HP Pavilion dv6-7040tx running Windows 10.

Thank you in advanced, any help is greatly appreciated!

Preferred Solution: Headset mic recording sounds through headset?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Headset mic recording sounds through headset?

You are correct, that is the usual cause of this problem. And aside from being set in the drivers, it can sometimes be set in the application (used for the communication).

That model does appear to use the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio chipset. The problem is likely in the fact that you upgraded to Win10 and I don't see that HP supports nor supplies drivers for Win10 (I only see drivers for 7 and 8). Which means you are using generic drives supplied by Windows. The generic Windows drivers often work well enough to get hardware functional, but quite often don't support all hardware or all features of all hardware.

Hello

So three days ago I wiped all of my drives and installed Windows 10. I have a Corsair Vengenace 2100 headset. I installed the realtek drivers from ASUS download section for my motherboard and then I installed the headset drivers.

The problem is that my headset does not record anything through the microphone if I set it to be the default device for audio output. If I have my other computer speakers as the default output device my microphone works just fine.

This goes for all the USBs in the back of the motherboard. The headset works just great if I plug in the wireless reciever in the front of the computer.

I have tried to reinstall the drivers multiple times and checked a bunch of different settings in the sound manager in windows but nothing seems to work.

Have also googled all kinds of things but nothing seems to relate to my problem.

I do not have any external sound card plugged into my computer.

Thanks for any help provided!

EDIT: Can be closed as I found the win 10 forum after I made the thread. Sorry!

Hi iBSOADed and welcome to TenForums,

First of all, you shouldn't have had to worry about installing any drivers after installing Windows 10 as Windows should do that automatically.

Have you tried using the Corsair Gaming Headset Setup program in the Downloads section of this page? Vengeance® 2100 Dolby 7.1 Wireless Gaming Headset

Hi All, I have Nokia BH-900 bluetooth headset and X60s laptop, how to use the headset for VoIP calls? The OS is Windows XP. So far I have added the bt device to the device list, but for some reason the device connection does not activate, ie the headset keeps blinking green, not blue. And I can not find the bt device from any settings. I already tried the search on this forum, but the given instructions did not seem to match my case, or I did not understand them  BRJorma

Hello

I'm trying to record some songs (Please do not ask why)
Whenever i try to record, it comes through the headphones which is normal.
The problem now is when i record, Camtasia can't detect the mic has speakers or something
So when i do audio record, it records NOTHING, ( i'm not speaking through mic)
If i move the mic to my speakers, it doesn't record well and sometimes records nothing by static. If i use my original speaker settings (IDT Audio) it records nothing

So i thought that if i disabled my headset, i would hear stuff through my speakers

Now how do i disable my headset WITHOUT pulling off the plug.

I looked through IDT panel everywhere and could not find a way to disconnect the headset.

So how do i disable it without pulling the headset's plug off?

If you can tell me a way to record without disabling the headset at all please tell me.

For the past two days, I've been struggling to record commentary for a YouTube video I am making. My Headset works everywhere else just fine, but if I plug it in into my laptop it creates static and so does every other mic. I called HP, and they said there was nothing wrong with the jack since I could hear everything just fine. Sometimes the static is in the files themselves but other times it's just through my headsets. I have no clue what to do. I've looked at every single tutorial thing and tinkered with every little thing. The problem was solved yesterday then I tried to record today and RIP.
I checked, and it says all my drivers are updated.
The headset came with a cable that splits the audio, and I'm thinking of splitting it then splitting it back into the laptop. I really have no clue what else to do.

Thank you in advance.

I just got my second HP a6863w. I've had only had this one for about 3 days. The problem that i'm getting is that when ever sound comes out of my USB plantronics headset i get a crackling/static noise. When I switch the sound to come out my speakers (uses the 3.5mm spot) there is no crackling issue at all. I don't think its my headset because i have 2 USB headsets and they both get the same problem. I've tried all the usb ports on my PC. I have also tried both headsets on my brothers computer and they work fine.

The First HP a6863w got this same problem within 10 days. So i returned that one thinking it was a mobo problem. Now that the second one does it i'm not sure what it is.

Has anyone seen or know of a fix for this.

More info (Not sure if this helps):
-I have placed a new video card before this happened (PNY GeForce GTS 250 1gig)

-I have placed a new Power Supply before this issue had happened.
Rocketfish? - 550-Watt ATX CPU Power Supply - RF-550WPS

Thanks for taking the time to help.

Answer:USB Headset makes crackling sounds

And I got it fixed...SO far.

So as soon as i posted here i went over to HP's website to talk to tech. I find out they have Support Forums. I did a search and found out that someone with the same problem on a HP laptop. He mention that he updated his bios and it worked.

So I did the same and i can say it works again.

I just got a new headset, the logitech G330, since the side jacks on my tower don't seem to work, im using the USB adapter it came with. It works great, just one tiny issue.. The sounds that the mic picks up are routed through the headset speakers, so I hear my breathing, my voice, how do I disable that?

Answer:Mic sounds coming through headset speakers

Go into Control Panel\Sound on the "Recording" tab click "Microphone" then Properties, then click on the "Listen" tab and Make suer that "Listen to this device" is uncheaked.

As the Title says.

My Speakers and Internal Speakers along with the Microphones are screwing up.

This problem only started today, I haven't got a clue why and I haven't changed any settings whatsoever, Everything was working fine until one moment they weren't.

I've gone into Sound to try and fix the issue, I set my Sounds as Default for the headset, and I still have them playing through both, and I did the same for the Microphone, only on that one.

In Playback Devices, Speakers / Headphones is one and Communication Headphones is another, even if I disable the first, I can't get the second as Default for both, it won't let me have Default Device for only the Communication Headphones.

Under Recordcing it's much the same issue except the first one is Internal Mic, it's allowed me to put the Microphone / Line In as Default, except it won't pick up sounds from the Mic, only the Internal Mic even if it's not enabled.

So any help would be useful, searched your other threads 4 or 5 on here and none have been helpful in fixing my issue as they're different to mine, so please don't revert me to another thread.

Answer:Headset Mic & Sounds Playing At The Same Time

First thing, do you have the correct Dell sound driver. Non-Dell sound drivers tend to not work or not work correctly. This is the correct Dell IDT sound driver:
Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]
The "Speakers" should be the default playback device. In the Recording section along with the mic you should have the System Mixer (could be called Stereo Mix) and that should be the default recording device.

I'm not sure about the IDT, but many systems have a sound device control panel, located in the Control Pane/Hardware and Sound and they can be configured for both headset and speakers at the same time or configured that the headset mutes the speakers.

Today it just suddenly became popping sound whenever I play a round. From volume control and YouTube and any application.

I've tried uninstalling restart then reinstalling driver but to no avail. I doubt it's an hardware issue because even when I plug in or on bluetooth it still sounds this way.

Dropbox - Voice 001.m4a

System is a Asus ROG GL552V Australia set. There's possibly no warranty as I've brought it over to another country

Answer:Popping sounds from speakers or headset

I don't have a google drop box account so I can't listen to your sample.

Download and run the Resplendence Latency Mon program. That may help to pinpoint what is causing the problem. Popping, crackling, dropouts were common on Windows 7, but I haven't seen much posted about the problems on Win 10. Have you recently installed anything or updated anything? But run the Latency Mon program and see what it shows.

I'm having a problem with my headset. Whenever i play a game or listen to music, after about 5-10 minutes the sound turns into gargled crap. Like a choppy, sputtering static noise. I'm using 'Digital Precision Headset' by Logitech. It has worked fine for me on XP, so i don't see what the problem could be. The driver sofware comes with windows, so logitech doesnt offer driver support for it. I did however un-plug/plug-in to see if windows(7) would reinstall the drivers. It did, but i still cant get them to work right. Which sucks for online gamming, because i dont have another mic to use.

little help?

thanks in advance

Answer:Logitech Usb Headset - Sounds like garbage

So.....it works fine for 5-10 minutes? If that's the case it really makes one wonder about heat. I have never heard of a sound card overheating. Have you already tried the latest driver? I would really look for a driver. There is probably one out there. I would do that first and see if there is a change.

Hi.

I have a headset and two computers. Old PC, Acer. Current PC, Cyberpower. Headset, Humlin.

A few days or so ago I plugged my headset into my current PC and it recorded fine and clear. However, the sound suddenly came out the speakers at full volume and it said the headphones jack had been unplugged. It hadn't and it was still in. I twisted it a little and it said plugged back in. I started recording again but had issues with both mic and headphones with the computer telling me they'd been unplugged and plugged back in, but the jacks never moved. Each time the speakers went to full volume. It was fine for a bit and then when I unplugged the jack the speakers went to full volume again.

I plugged the headset into my old computer the other day and it all seemed fine. Did it again a day or two later and it wouldn't record but I had sound. It also took my volume up to full when unplugging the headphones jack, but it's been the one and only time it has done that. Then the next day I could record but had no sound.

I was using the front ports so switched to the back ports and both mic and headphones seemed fine. I recorded what I wanted to today (after double checking mic and headphones, both seemed fine) and then went to listen to the audio on my laptop and there's a really loud constant buzz.

I've plugged my headset back into my current PC and there's no buzz when playing back the recording, but it did say unplugged jack (headphones) and turned... Read more

I use Audacity and I would use WASAPI and did not need Stereo Mix enabled with my old headset. Now with my new headset I have to use Stereo Mix, WASAPI won't work anymore, pretty weird issue to say the least. I installed Asus Realtek Driver 6.0.1.7354 I record in Mono. My mic boost is at +0.0db. I plugged in green jack in headphone port to record system audio and it does not work. I had no issue with my old headset recording system audio. Now I have an issue with this new headset. Any help woukd be appreciated. Here is the new headset I bought from Amazon. If you want to buy this headset for yourselves I highly recommend them, they sound great and mic picks up sound really well.

Answer:My new headset not recording System Audio Help.

If you want to RECORD you use the PINK mic jack for the microphone part of the headset. The GREEN Jack is the Speaker out (for connecting a headset or speakers).

A computer mic requires +5VDC to operate. Only the PINK mic jack has the +5VDC on the "Ring" connection.

Hey everyone,
I'm in real need of a GOOD headset that will also allow me to record high quality voice recordings. I'm currently using the BlueSnowBall microphone which is really really good but when I'm either recording live games or streaming the microphone picks up my keyboard which is abit annoying.
My doing voice overs/commentaries/guides its fine but when I'm streaming it's abit annoying.
My youtube is starting to do well so the quality needs to be good. No price range maybe a min/max would be good to give me a good idea of how much etc...
Thanks all,
Al

I have an Asus Intel core i5 laptop with Windows 10. I use a GXT 784 headset. While talking with friends, my headset suddenly stopped working and they couldn't hear me. I can't figure out how to fix this. I noticed that, when I'm watching a video, my headset's mic will relay the audio coming into my headset. Disabling Stereo Mix doesn't fix it. The physical controller that's on my headset cable doesn't stop it from happening, as even if I turn the volume knob all the way down and flick the mute switch, it's still picking up the audio. Muting my headset from within the computer stops the mic from hearing it, as does switching to my speakers that are plugged into the front jack. My headset is a 3.5mm jack type plugged into the back of the computer, directly into the motherboard.

Hey,

the topic pretty much says it. I bought myself a new headset(C-media headphone set or something) which uses a USB-port instead of an original sound-port-thing. The problem is, whenever I plug the headset in the USB-port pretty much nothing happens and I can't get the sound in the headset, it just stays in the speakers...

It used to be no problem when I used a headset with the sound-port on the motherboard to just change it. Anyone have any suggestions on what I might do? :(

edit: forgot to say that it works just fine after rebooting the computer.

Thank you

Answer:Problem with USB-headset(Can't switch between headset and speakers without rebooting)

Hi Foonksh,

Try going into the Control Panel and go into Sounds and Audio Devices. From there you can pick the default device for recording and for playback. In the playback section, set the headset as the default device instead of your speakers.

HELLO TO ALL !

I am knew on the board. Greetings

I installed a NEW Logitech USB Headset 350 onto my Winows XP Service Pack 2 generic 'puter.

I now have no speaker sound and no option shows except the headset and "Modem #1 line ".

It sorta looks like I have no speaker drivers .

Unplugging the headset does not help.

Anybody know how to fix this problem so I am not forced to wear a headset for audio ALL OF THE TIME ?

HELP !

(ME)

Answer:Installed new USB Headset NOW no speaker audio even if I unplug the headset

Yeah, my USB headset was a little weird at first as well.

Try going into your volume control (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control):
1. Click Options
2. Properties
3. Change the mixer device from the USB headset to your speakers.

Should work.

Also should note you can change the output settings in most audio software (for example: Windows Media Player, Winamp, etc.) so if you can't hear anything from your speakers when using those programs, try fiddling with those settings as well. I know for Winamp it's Options > Preferences > Plug-ins > Output > double-click the plug-in you use (mine is out_ds.dll) and again change it to your speakers using the drop down menu.

Hello there,
I just bought the Plantronics M70 headset to use with my Lumia 640 LTE (WP 8.1 Denim). My problem with it is that when the two are connected, all the notification sounds (email, chat apps, anything) goes ONLY through the headset and not on headset and phone speaker at the same time.
My previews bluetooth headset that recently died (a truly old Sony Ericsson) was able to let the phone ring the sounds through the speaker too. The main difference was that the Sony Ericsson only supported voice and the Plantronics supports music streaming too.
How can i enable app sounds on headset and phone speaker at the same time? I can't seem to find any relevant choice within the setting area or anywhere else. Is there something that can be done or am i stuck with it?
Thank you for your time.

I recently got a new headset, a Logitech G230, and instantly noticed that it sounds like all audio is bass boosted. This was not the case with my previous headset and the only controls on the wire for the headset is a mic on/off switch and a volume slider.

Answer:New headset sounds permanently bass boosted

Most headsets do not sound the same. Have you used/listened to that headset before? You may want to connect the headset to another computer/device and see how it sounds. That will at least confirm it's the headset or if you have a PC issue.

My mic keeps playing not only my own voice but the sounds coming from everything producing sound on my computer, its not an issue that I can hear it its that people I am talking to can hear it on whatever application Im using its been doing this for the past 2 headsets and it started happening when I switched from the first pair.

I have windows 10 and have been trying all kinds of settings changes in attempt to fix it but it still picks it up.

extra info - Stereo mix is disabled and "listen to this device" is unchecked

even when I turn my pick up sounds on the physical headset control itself to "off" it still picks up the sounds that are not going into my mic

I uninstalled my mic driver and the issue is still there

My old broken headset that worked before is also having the issue now that I just plugged it in.

Edit: I also just noticed if I blow into the mic I can hear it also if im loud

I'm extremely confused as to why it's still doing this. I tested my microphone and it doesn't work with my voice. It just plays sounds from my computer. I played a youtube video and I could hear it but not my voice, so its playing sounds from my computer and not my voice.

I've tried everything now. Reinstalled drivers, mic is unmuted, made sure it isn't the steromix selected.. etc.

I have my microphone selected as default device and my headphones set as default. I've been through all the properties and still not luck, need help.

Answer:Headset Microphone is playing sounds from computer

How can a microphone play sounds? Microphone is an input device, so make sure it is set as such.

Good day.

I have a very weird problem and I've only found 2 threads about it on the web and they don't really lead to solutions. Here is my Problem...

So one day I'm trying to hook my headset up so that I can talk to fellow gamer's when playing online games, and it came to my conclusion as I was struggling to set the headset up that my mic on the headset is not recording the sound and it is actually my headset's speakers. I don't even understand how this is possible. This is very strange and I would GREATLY appreciate some advise and possibly a solution to this. (I even bought a USB sound card and that's doing the exact same thing)

Thank you sooooo much in advance!!!

Hey guys,  I'm really having issues here with my headset. I purchased a teknmotion headset like this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001FY7LBQ/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Come to find out that it had two plugs to my P500's single combo audio jack. So to solve this problem I decided to buy this splitter http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004SP0WAQ/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The headphones work perfectly when I put the setup in. The mic however won't pick up. My computer keeps using my internal mic and won't pick up the mic on the headset.. I really need some help trying to figure this out.

Hi,

I've been reading on this topic for days now and not getting anywhere.

I have SoundMax and want only voice communication to go to my headset at *all times*. Everything else I want going to my external speakers at *all times*.

I'd like to not have to plug and unplug the 3.5mm jacks each time.

I've read up and saw that installing the latest Realtek drivers would solve the issue but it hasn't gotten me anywhere and now after finding this website today and registering I see that Realtek is a major problem spot.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction here?

Thanks.

p.s. system specs are updated.

Answer:All sounds to external speakers *except* Skype and Voipwise to headset

Maybe your voice comm software is not being recognized as a voice comm software, and thus not being redirected. I know Skype has audio out settings where you can set where to ring, play and listen, but I have no idea about Voipwise.

With my old headset i used to have a blast recording sounds/music coming out of my comptuer directly using wave out. Often for MSN voice clips and such.

I haven't changed anything, but now that i have this new headset, the only recording i seem to be able to do is voice recording in sound recorder, i can't seem to record wave out mix on sound recorder, and can't record anything whatsoever in msn voice clips.

I can hear voice clips sent to me though, strange thing is, when someone invited me to an audio conversation earlier, i got the annoying ringing noise alright , but i couldn't hear anything.

I checked my volume controls nothing is muted.
Any help would be fantastic! Thanks in advance

I recently bought a Philips SHM7110U/10 headset to hopefully get better audio than my laptop's current microphone while recording with Fraps.

Fraps is currently using my laptop's default microphone, which can be changed by setting another microphone to the default. I read several articles on how to do this, but it turns out my headset does not appear on this list, only my laptop's default microphone.

Here is the recording devices list. The microphone seen in the picture is the built in microphone, which is not what I want to use.

Is there any way to fix this problem? I hope I have explained well enough. Thanks for reading.

PS. The headset is analogue if that helps. The site I bought it from can be found here: Buy Philips SHM7110U/10 3.5mm Stereo Overhead PC Headset and Microphone from our Gaming Headsets range - Tesco.com

Answer:Headset's microphone is not appearing on the recording devices list.

You should have more than just the microphone. RIGHT click in an empty area in that panel then LEFT click show disabled and disconnected devices. Does the headset mic show up now? Also does the System Mixer (could be called Stereo Mix) show up? If it does, make that the default recording device then whatever input you have should be heard. The System Mixer (or whatever its called in your PC) is also needed if you want to record streaming audio from the Internet.

Hello! (First post.)
I have the Logitech Precision PC Gaming Headset, and recently it started dropping off sounds from games. When i switch to the speakers, everythings okay. I played with the Windows 7 sound configuration and figured out that it only drops off 1-channel sounds. And to make it weirder, when i take it off my head, it works.

Suggestions?

Hi all,

I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to 8.1 using the same hardware as before, and have encountered a strange problem that I can't find the solution to.

I'm using an Alesis IO|2 usb audio interface (which my speakers are connected to) and a Razer Megalodon usb headset. Both are completely functional when used independently (ie. if I'm not using my headset, everything plays through my speakers fine, and vice versa).

However, there are many situations where I'm used to having audio coming through my headset and speakers at the same time. For example, if I'm on a Skype call I'm used to having the call audio coming out of my headset while still being able to play music etc out of my speakers.

The problem: Since using Windows 8.1, when trying to do this, both my speaker and headset audio breaks down completely into sporadic glitchy & loud crackles. If I want to listen to music while talking on Skype I have to disable my speakers (in windows playback devices screen) to force all audio out of my headset.

Neither of my USB devices has drivers associated with them, and I have the latest firmware on both, leading me to believe this is some problem with Windows. Has anyone got any ideas? I've spent hours trying to resolve this and have yet to even find someone with the same problem...

Answer:Broken audio when playing sounds through speakers and headset at the same time

I guess this problem really is a rare one huh?

HI! I'm just new here. I purposely registered to ask about a problem my laptop is having now. I originally have a Vista OS, but it's now XP because of many problems I had with the first one. All thing is good until I was surprised that my laptop, Compaq Presario c700, is not reading my headset. The sound is okay with the laptop's own speaker. And I thought it was only the headset, but now even the microphone jack isn't working. And I really need to do recordings for my project. My sound manager, or what you call it, is Conexant High Definition Audio . I already searched some sites, but I can't still figure out the real answer.

Please..please...please...Help me with this one. I am not that much of a techie..

Thanks...

Answer:Headset and Recording problems w/ Conexant High Definition Audio

if you could provide me with the sound full propeties that might help. as a quick test though you could try going to device manager by right clicking my computer and clicking propeties and check that the sound card drivers are corectly installed and working.

I have a almost broken headset, but the microphone still works fine, The microphone is connected on the wire right before the headset, Its not actually touching the headset itself.

Would this microphone still work if the headset was cut off?

Sorry but I can't manage to take a photo but

Answer:Will a Headset microphone still work if I cut it off the Headset?

Is the microphone actually supported by the headset, by that I mean when the set is on your head is the microphone carried close to your mouth so you have both hands free. If this is the case then cutting off the headset will mean the microphone will not have any way of being held near your mouth.
If you cut it off you will have to be very careful you don't cut the wires for the microphone & it's possible that there is a common return wire for the earpieces & the microphone in the form of a shielded cable, so it would be very difficult, but if you have skills in this area it could be done.

I have 2 headsets both from different companies, one from Andrea the other from Altec Lansing. I have them plugged into the front ports of my tower. My computer detects them both and says that they are working. However, I can hear out of them, but I cannot say anything. It does not hear me at all. I've tried various testing procedures and it doesn't detect anything.

What do I do?

Answer:Headset detected, not working (2nd headset)

Hi Cdn, The Vista default setting under audio and microphone is rear line in. Right Click the speaker
icon in your task bar or system tray. Click on the Recording tab at the top. Make sure that Front Mic.
is enabled and has a green check mark next to it. Click Apply and Okay. Try it now.

Hey guys, I made a thread a few years ago about me recording with a Plantronics 380 while using a dolby 5.1 usb soundcard to make the volume louder so people can actually hear me and getting a bit of static issues while recording as heard by the attachment I added with this post.

Now recently at PAX AUS I won a Corsair H2100 wireless headset but whenever I plug it in I get static/snow sounding interference and I have no idea on how to solve it while using corsairs software. They've
told me to send it in as they think it could be a defective product but im doubtful. But if I got a replacement and the same issue occurs I don't think I would be able to sell the headset on something like Ebay.

http://img03.taobaocdn.com/bao/uploa...pg_310x310.jpg -USB Dongle im using

http://www.gamingcapacity.com/wp-con...com380-911.jpg -Plantronics 380 headset

Any ideas? I would prefer my first issue to be solved first before the corsair if possible thanks

Answer:Static when recording as well as a new wireless headset "snow" problem

A wireless device is a digital device and its up to the support software, e.g. the Corsair software to amplify or do whatever to the signal. The PC's sound card is not used with digital (the sound card converts analog to digital).

As its wireless, there are possibilities for interference from other wireless devices or even wireless/cell telephones.

e.g. I bought a Logitech Wireless mouse and keyboard. They had interference problems and did not work well. I replaced that with a Microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard, which apparently works on a different frequency and it works OK.

Question: Which headset?

So, right now im using a Logitech headset to play WoW on. Its alright, it has surround sound and stuff. Very uncomfortable, and tired of the cords getting underneath my chair, obviously isnt the best headset, considering it was only $30. So what headsets would you recomend me buying? I've been thinking about buying the WoW Wireless Headset. Just dont know if thats the best deal.

Anything wireless and anything under $200 you recomend.

Answer:Which headset?

Don't think wireless headsets are really as big a thing as marketing people suggest. They are prone to noise, heavier, and generally not as good as their wired counterparts at this moment.

Whatever it is, don't ever think you'd get away with a cheap pair. The noise alone will make using them unbearable.

My suggestion is to actually try it out for yourself: earphones can be a pretty personal thing, unlike asking about the best CPU or graphics card (kinda like asking someone whats the best restaurant in town).

GHooper, welcome to the forum. If I understand your situation, you want to setup your headset and microphone.  If this is correct, you go into the Control Panel / Sound and check to assure that your headset and microphone are set as the Default.  You would have to install any software or driver that came with them before beginning. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Question: New Headset!

Hey all, I've been without an actual headset for a few months and I really miss it, lol. I've decided to get another and would like to spend <$100.

So far I've been looking at the Razer Carcharias and the Creative Sound Blaster Arena, so something at around that price would be cool. The headset I do purchase will be used for music and gaming, so comfort/good sound would be nice. Anybody have any suggestions?

Hi everyone,So I've decided to go and buy a new headset after my current one is getting a bit dodgy in some aspects.I am limited to buying from this website: http://www.pccasegear.comand I am quite confident in buying one of two Corsair headsets. I'm completely indecisive of which one though. One is a direct USB connection, and the other one is analogue that I would use with my Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card.First option: Corsair Vengeance 1500 v2 Dolby 7.1 USB Headset(Note that this is virtual 7.1 surround sound with Dolby software)Second option: Corsair Vengeance 1400 Analog Headset(Note that this is stereo only)My main concern is whether or not it is better to get the more recent 1500 model or the older 1400 model that I could use with my sound card.I'm also open to suggestions of other headsets, although they need to be worth less than $110 on the website I mentioned. I'll be using the headset for the entire range of things from gaming to movies to music. I will be using the mic every day as well.

Answer: Looking to buy a new headset

i dont know if this is out of your price range but i can recomend the Corsair Vengeance 2100 iv tried them and i know a happy custome that used them for a long timeand i can also recomend the Logitech G930 ones if the price isint a problem (those are siting on my head right now)the reason i have for recomending those are that there wireless and for me thats a huge bonus as i have about 10 expensive wired ones all broken and eavry time its the same thing, that the wire just where it goes into the headpones started glitching and thay brakeplus its a huge bonus that i can walk aroung my whole house with the headphones on and chat with ppl and lisen to musicbut incase these arent in your price range id recomend the Corsair Vengeance 1500 v2 one out of the 2 you were looking at and dont worry about them having a usb and not using your sound cardid recomend the Logitech G35 Headset aswell as a wired alternetive becos thay are almost exakly like the G930 exept wired and both these have exelent sound and the best thing i like is that the ears fit into the headpones so the pads on them are not presing on you ears and isolate sound frome the outeside realy well plus the pads themselves are realy soft and therefore enables long time use of the headphones without geting sore and iritated earsid also like to recomend the Logitech G430 Headset and the for the same reson i recomend the G35 it has good sound and those nice soft and big earpads for extended use  these are all recomeded w... Answer:Which headset?

Can't say for sure, though I don't think it matters that much. You'll get the best opinion if anyone happens to own one.

The http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826106069 gives you more information on the product, while the other one doesn't.

personally, it wouldnt matter to me - I doubt the quality is that drastically different if you compare the two together.

If you don't like one, return it to Newegg, then get the other one. You have a 1 year warranty with them.

Note:

If you keep going through a few headsets in a while, you should invest your $$$ on a good headset that'll last you a long time. It just makes sense.

Question: Headset Help

Hey all, I'm looking for a new headset. It would be mostly for gaming. I'm not to sure what the advantage would be for USB vs 3.5 for connection. I think I want surround sound headset so I can play late at night without waking the Miss, Unless you tell me otherwise to stick with stero type. I'm willing to spend around 150 bucks or more if it will get me agood pair. I do have a seperate sound card with surround sound. Plus I would still like to keep me existing 5.1 surround speakers. Is this a problem? Do I have to manually go behind PC and connect speakers/headset every time I want to swtich them back or fourth? Thanks

Answer:Headset Help

getting one with a usb connection will mean that you won't have to disconnect anything, and 3.5mm will only give you stereo sound unless you get a headset that can emulate surround sound

if you have front panel audio ports then you could quite easily be able to plug a 3.5mm pair in without disconnecting your existing speakers

shop around on pc or audio specialty websites and see what you can get, newegg.com is a good one for pc parts but i don't know if they have a/v equipment on there as well

Question: USB Headset

A Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000, to be precise.

Hearing is no problem. Both earpieces are fine.

It's recording that's giving me problems right now. Windows Sound Recorder apparently doesn't know I'm making any noise into this thing. I've been trying all kinds of things; setting it as default sound recorder in audio properties, pressing this mute button thing (If anyone knows, when the light turns on, does it mean it's muted or unmuted?), all for nothing.

I did, however, load up Steam to try its microphone tester, and, surprisingly, it picks up a ton of white noise. That's not the strange part. Nothing I do will make any more noise...

...Except for tapping this control panel thing. I tap it, and about a second later, I can hear the tap echo among all the white noise. I tried opening the thing to see if there was anything blatantly obvious to fix, but I didn't see anything.

Any ideas?

Question: USB Headset

Ok well I just bought a new usb headset. I plugged it in and I am completely satisfied with it. I have creative stereo speakers which I use all the time more than the headset but...I wanted to know if I could somehow direct my sound from my headset to my stereo speakers while the usb headset is plugged in? And another question is that my usb headset only seems to work when i have them first plugged in and i turn on my computer or restart my computer. If I have my computer on and i plug them in they will not work. Anyone have a clue?? THanks

Answer:USB Headset

Just keep them plugged in...you are asking your puter to reinstall the device to a USB port for which it is already assigned and you would then have to reboot with it connected to be recognized. All you need to do to patch to your stereo is to use a 1/4" to RCA
http://www.trianglecables.com/255-055.html

Then direct into your stereo via RCA Cables. Capice? The headset is unaffected by the soundcard out and patch cables.

I just bought these a week ago, great for gaming and easy on the pocket (unless your looking for an expensive set), real comfortable and the mike is very strong and clear, I can always speak over anyone when using TS. Plus, they sport the vibrating speakers, so when they pick up large bass frequencies they vibrate on your ears, real fun when playing games, late and in the dark.

Just an idea...

Question: Aux to usb Headset

So my Axentwear headphones finally arrived today (1.5 years since I participated in the crowd funding). They are 3.5mm auxiliary with microphone capability. Unfortunately, my Aux port is broken on my pc, but i know that the usb ports are working just fine for my usb headset. I was going to buy this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rue&ref_=ox_sc_act_image_3&smid=AKU6PB9W05OXH
and this
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rue&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER.
What I would like to know is will this work for what I want to accomplish?

I am using a eDimensional AudioFX Force Feedback Gaming Headset. The sound works great but i can not get the microphone to work on it. I have tried everything i can think of. It is currently in the front audio and mic jacks and that is the only way i can get the sound to work on it. I have tried them in the rear jacks and i get nothing. I have also tried changing my default devices and still nothing. I am running Vista Home. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Need help with headset

You might have to get into the "Sound" settings and see if you can enable the rear sound jacks from there

Question: New Headset?

I bought the Turtle Beach Earforce Z6A thinking I was getting a good headset for about $100. However, within a couple months of having it one of the hear pieces has almost broken off where the ear muff and over-the-head strap connects. I'm looking for a reliable, good quality headset that'll work with the following case and motherboard (onboard sound) :

Mobo: (Only Full ATX instead) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131658

Case: Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER HAF X RC-942-KKN1 Black Steel/ Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

I've been looking at the Astro A40 by the way, please share your thoughts and opinions.
Recommendations are always appreciated!

VR Headset for the PC

With the Oculus Rift coming out, I?ve been interested in getting into the 3D craze. I know 3D is something that?s been akin to a fad in that it?s a nice novelty to mess with every now and then. However, I much prefer a 3D TV over a 4K (not that I wouldn?t want both; but, should I buy one, I?d like to keep the purchase under $1k).

A VR headset adds to that. Aside from being in 3D, you get to look around in the 3D space. I like that kind of emersion. As such, anyone know of a cheap VR system that will work with a PC? I?d like to keep the purchase to under $200. However, I?m not going to be optimistic about that price range. As such, anything up to $1k.

Question: New Headset.

Just wondering what you guys think about my choice. My Astro A30 mic is starting to break after a 1 and a half - 2 years, rather than replacing the boom mic, I decided it was about time to get some new headphones (want some over ear ones).

I decided I would go with a pair of normal headphones as apposed to 'gaming' headphones and just buy a separate mic.

Thinking about this combo, any input?

Mic: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...pf_rd_i=468294

Edit: If it wasn't obvious this is primarily for gaming, although I will be listening to music.

Answer:New Headset.

If I had to rebuy my headset I definitely would have done what you're doing... These ones with integrated mics just don't have the same sound quality.

Hey guys so long story short my headset went kaput one day but it was old so I saw this coming, got a new headset and plugged it in, it was working fine for a short while then this one went kaput for seemingly no reason (while it was working i did some set up and noticed some sporatic static not sure if its relevant or not). I opened up device manager and it showed two unidentified devices, one under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". I tried to update drivers, uninstall then scan for hardware changes and it seems like nothing I do works. When I try the latter immediately after I get a (what I would describe as) whooshing noise and then the sound audibly cuts and it pops back up in device manager as an unidentified device I'm at a complete loss as to what to do in this scenario, I tried a couple of other ports on the pc but the scene played out the same way. I have also gone so far as to have dont a restart of windows with deleting all of my personal files but the problem persists, the sad part is that I guarantee the headset works as well as the usb port because other devices in the usb port work and the headset on other devices works. I'm completely out of ideas at this point and would love any help :/
FYI I tried out the headset on another computer and it got the same error oddly enough but the first time I plugged it into my computer it was working just fine albeit with a slight amount of static. The headset has one 3.5 mm jack that plugs into a contr... Read more

Question: Usb Headset

My friend was looking into getting a nice headset like this one : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16826504004We were wondering since he has a pci slot sound card, that doesn't have any usb, if the sound card will just be a waste/no use? He bought the sound card because he couldn't find the drivers for his sound (newegg never sent the disc with motherboard after he rma'd it) so his integrated sound doesn't work, but would it work if he used usb? Thanks for reading the post!

Answer:Usb Headset

You should be able to get the correct drivers for onboard sound from the motherboard's mfg. support site What make/model is it?

Hi everyone,

So I've decided to go and buy a new headset after my current one is getting a bit dodgy in some aspects.

I am limited to buying from this website: http://www.pccasegear.com
and I am quite confident in buying one of two Corsair headsets. I'm completely indecisive of which one though. One is a direct USB connection, and the other one is analogue that I would use with my Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card.

First option: Corsair Vengeance 1500 v2 Dolby 7.1 USB Headset
(Note that this is virtual 7.1 surround sound with Dolby software)

Second option: Corsair Vengeance 1400 Analog Headset
(Note that this is stereo only)

My main concern is whether or not it is better to get the more recent 1500 model or the older 1400 model that I could use with my sound card.

I'm also open to suggestions of other headsets, although they need to be worth less than $110 on the website I mentioned. I'll be using the headset for the entire range of things from gaming to movies to music. I will be using the mic every day as well.

Question: a new headset/mic

I just bought a new headset with mic and I plugged it into the holes with the icon for each. I restarted the computer and have no sound nor able to record voice. I tried switching holes but it still doesn't work. I really am not sure just how to check it and the only instructions that came with it are troubleshooting but the trouble I am having doesn't fix with what they have listed.

Answer:a new headset/mic

Welcome to TSG!!

Is it mic and ear phone in the same plug? if so, you need a spliter so you can plug them into their appropriate jacks. They are about 50 cents or so at radioshack. (many things such as phones use them on the same 1/8 in mini plug)

Question: Headset

I've had this head set for a while. It a Sound Blaster Arena Surround headset. Normally I have no problem switching between my main soundcard and my usb soundcard (headset).

After restarting earlier today i am not able to switch the default audio device. Certain programs only use the default sound device to emit sound.

Is there something that im doing wrong, i goto my sound devices, click on my head set, then use as default. When i hit ok and go back to that window it says my speakers are back to the default device. When i select my headset the apply button doesn't enable.

Whats wrong?

Answer:Headset

Go to the Control Panel then click on Sound. You should see the Realtek HD Audio Manager icon there. Click on that. When it loads up, double click on the two jack images below "Analogue" and you'll get a choice of headphone or line out.
See if this resolves your issue!
