I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I got this laptop for 2 years and it has never done this before. Two weeks ago it started turning off when I played games like Skyrim or Europa Universalis 4.The laptop is hot at the place where the graphic card is located but the fan seems to be working...and PC doctor has no error. I disassembled the laptop and cleaned it from dust but it did not work... I tried different drivers (for quadro fx 2800m) and now I have installed the 326.80 beta, but it's still the same... I don't know what to do, I'm so angry that i'm considering to buy a Dell Alienware... can someone help me, please?

Hello, I have a question. My Lenovo Yoga 720 15.6" doesn't overheat, although I've noticed something rather odd. When I play Fifa 17 with the charger plugged in, the fans are very loud and the laptop gets pretty hot. When I play Fifa 17 on battery only (charger not plugged in) the fans are quite silent and the laptop doesn't get hot at all. Why is that? For all I know, I would expect the exact opposite...Thanks in advance!Kind regards,Tijs

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 720 15" : hot when playing games on charger, cool when playing games on battery???

The CPU runs at full speed when it is plugged in and runs more slowly on battery to save power. Faster = more heat.

Hello, new to the computer hope community and the forums look great. My computer suddenly turns off when playing certain games like Shadow of Mordor, Nosgoth, and also Civilization. After around 1 hour of playing is when it turns off. It doesn't turn off on all games though like Fallout or TF2 though. Checked to see if my fans are working properly which they are, and I know my drivers are up to date. I'm thinking it starts to heat up with graphic heavy games but im no computer expert when it comes to this. Any suggestions would be great, thanks. My specs:OS ? Windows 7 UltimateProcessor ? My computer specs are:

Windows XP SP2
MSI K8T Neo m/b
AMD 64 bit 3400+ cpu
Powercolor x800 XT Platinum video card
Sound Blaster Live!
Western Digital 120 GB IDE HDD (Master, WIN XP installed on it)
Western Digital 40 GB IDE HDD (Slave)
Western Digital 200 GB SATA HDD
Lite-on CD burner (LTR-52246S) - Master
Pioneer DVD-RW (DVR-107D) - Slave
1 GB of ram (Kingston)
Thermaltake 420W Power Supply

Everything was fine till about a week ago. Lately when trying to run a 3d game such as Quake 3 or Guild wars, you can play for 5 min or even 2 hours and then the comp will just turn off without warning. It then won't restart immediately. Often you have to wait 5 to 10 min before you can re-start it.

Possible causes:

(1) Power supply is underpowered. I wouldn't have thought so, everything was fine with this configuration for about a year till now.

(2) Power supply is faulty or damaged. Its possible. I had a couple of power surges a few weeks ago. My comp wouldn't turn on again for about half a hour.
I've installed a surge protector since but may have been too late.

(3) Video card is faulty. A few weeks ago I installed one of those ATI Silencer heat sink and fans. My original fan was rattling and decided to change it. Maybe I damaged some component on the Vid card when I switched heat sinks? I was trying to be careful but maybe I stuffed something.

I can't think of any other reasons. Nothing is overclocked on my system.

Any thoughts?

Answer:Computer turns off by itself when playing 3d games

That's a lot to run off a 420W power supply IMO, I would try upgrading that. Even if that's not the cause of the problem, it's probably a worthwhile upgrade looking at your system specs.

The only other thing I could think of is the cpu temps, have you checked them in your BIOS yet?

no expert in this bit I once had a similar problem, I left the cover off the PC to keep it cooler and it worked. I later added more cooling fans, put the cover back on and never had the problem since !!You spend hours checking configs etc but it could be as simple as that !!good luck.

What you describe does suggest a heat issue even though you believe you have enough fans. I suggest running GPU-Z to monitor your graphics temperature before shutdown: http://majorgeeks.com/GPU-Z_d5796.html

Have you looked at the Windows event log to see what events are recorded at the time of shutdown - report these back here.

Hi my computer recently started to turn itself off, without warning, whenever I play an even remotely demanding game. I can play something fine from anywhere between 10 minutes to half an hour before my computer will shut itself off. I don't get a blue screen error so I have no idea whats causing it. I first figured its probably an overheating issue but I've tried cleaning my computer and it doesn't seem to help at all.

When I first got the video card I have now, I had no problems playing stuff like Crysis on near-full settings for hours at a time but now I can't even play something low-end like Combat Arms for more then 20 minutes. Please help!

These are my basic specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 GHz
ASUS P5N-D Motherboard
4 gb ram
650w Coolermaster PSU
BFG GeForce GTS 250 (512mb)
Windows XP Pro

I have a Qosmio F50-12W laptop with 4GB RAM and Nvidia Geforce 9600m this should be able to handle the new games.

Recently I updated my nvidia Geforce and every time I play any game within 15mins my laptop turns its self off, it used to do that before I updated but that was after a long time and once in a while. Also I prefer the updated version because my games run faster is there any way I can keep my updated driver and stop my laptop from turning it self off every 15min when I play any of my games.

Answer:Qosmio F50-12W - Turns itself off while playing games

Hi,

Playing modern games makes a Cpu and Gpu run hard. Your laptop turns off because of overheating. Check the power plan settings and perform cleaning with the compressed air spray.

This is going to be a long winded one to try and explain what happens:

PC turns on fine in the morning and will continue to work fine all day if I don't play any games, (however I must note that previous to this problem my computer worked fine all day every day pure gaming or not).

More in-depth sometimes when I play games after an hour or so maybe less maybe more depending on how "demanding" the game is my computer will turn off.. I thought the first time it did this that something overheated BUT... When I go to turn my computer back on nothing will load, and I mean NOTHING. All that happens is the fans spin on full speed as they do when the computer turns on normally but doesnt return to normal speed after, the computer doesnt even do the "beep" sound after you turn it on. Nothing comes on screen as far as I can tell nothing loads as it wont even beep.

If my computer does this it needs to be turned off with no power going in it for 2 hours roughly.. If I try and plug it in and turn it on before the 2 hours is up it will mean I have to wait another 2 hours (I found this out through trial and error).

I've been putting up with this since November time 2008 and its been bugging me every day but for some reason I never posted this on any site.

Quick recap: Play a game for a while, PC turns off instantly, try to turn on but all that happens is the fans go full speed and LED's in case/fans turn on no beep, have to wait roughly 2 hours for ... Read more

Answer:After playing games for a while PC turns off and wont turn on for a while

It's a long shot, but it could be a faulty PSU; if you have access to any other PC try borrowing the PSU from that and see if it solves the problem, otherwise try testing the PSU with a digital multimeter.

It could be that the power supply is failing if it only crashes when playing games or the video card is going bad. Can you install the video card in a friend's machine to test it? Then you can either include it or not as the culprit. Do you have any yellow warnings in device manager?

Answer:Computer screen turns black when playing games

More than likely a faulty graphics chip, the mobile Nvidia 8/9 series which you have are notorious for this especially in laptops with less than perfect cooling which allows them to get very hot.My advice would be firstly to clean the heatsink and fan thoroughly, secondly try a fresh install of Windows with the latest Nvidia drivers. Trying to troubleshoot an installation that has had a lot of random tweaks and settings applied by a dubious program isn't going to go far. If you still have the same problem with a fresh install, it's likely the graphics chip is toast.

My laptop just started to shut don when I play certain games.
This started when 1 or 2 months ago we had a power blackout for a part of a second.

After that power blackout the laptop wasn't charging its battery anymore (it was plugged in while this happened) so it ran out of power.

After that I weren't able to charge the battery correctly anymore because the charging progress stoped after a while which i were able to fix by unpluggin and plugging the charger again.

After the battery was charged to 100% again it worked fine for the 1 or 2 months.
But yesterday the laptop started to crash without warning.
And it is not because it runs out of power. I just want to know what the problem could be.

So here is something else what might help:
I use two screens (of which I might think of that it is the problem but I hope its not)

Answer:Satellite L750D turns off by itsself playing games

> And it is not because it runs out of power. I just want to know what the problem could be.

If you would read some threads here in the forum, you would find mostly one main reason for that: high temperature.
The notebook shuts OFF automatically to prevent the hardware from damage.

In most cases your cooling modules are clogged by dust and debris and this increase the temperature.
So what to do?
I think you need to clean the fans. Compressed air spray is a good tool to get rid of dust.

Hey, I have Qosmio X305-Q701 and I used to play alot of warcraft 3, and it used to work perfectly fine for me, last few week my computer started acting up, and when i enter the game, withing 5-10 minutes my screen turns completley black, and the sound that was playing in last second keeps repeating itself, and there is absolutley nothing I can do but turn the computer off manualy.

Same thing happends when I play game: battlefield heroes
But I can play some games fine, such as world of warcraft, and all the other battlefield games with no problems.
I have updated everything I could for the laptop, automatic updated windows everything I could, and automaticly searched for graphic card drivers, and it told me that drivers are up to date.

I havent touched anything regarding BIOS, but somehow I think that there might be some conflict in something somewhere that triggers in some games and the screen goes black and i cant do anything.

Any help would be appreciated.....

Answer:Qosmio X305-Q701 - Screen turns black while playing some games

Are you using Graphics Drivers supplied by Toshiba? Or have you installed drivers directly from nVidia or modified drivers?

Have you updated the BIOS?

Have you checked for dust in the heatsinks? Maybe its overheating.

So I ve encounterd this issue while im playing video games (mostly Tera), in the middle of the game the computer screen goes black (sometemies even other colors), but my computer is still running, although my Hard drive indicator isnt blinking.
I have a:
Intel core i5 3570k, Asus gtx 770, 8 gb of ram, 1TB HDD, 650W Psu,
I dont think its because of overheating, because when i look up the temperatures the max on my gpu is 75? on full load what is fine for the 770, and my cpu is on full load at about 54? max.
So could it be a software problem or my HDD is not working properly.
If anyone could reply i would be thankful.
Thank you!

obviously the game is causing your laptop to overheat, most laptops are not meant for gaming.you maybe able set your cpu to throttle when it gets hot, rather than sut down, that may be done in the bios settings.you may buy a cooler plate for the laptop which blows extra air to keep it cooler, make sure you place the machine on a board or hard surface to keep the vent and van holes clear..i hate computers!but cant help myself....

When I don't play the temp is around 55. I try to play CoD Black Ops 2 and the CPU temp grows in an instant and I can't play the **bleep** game. The only moment I could really play the game was when I used it outside, its winter, so the laptop was really cool. A cooling pad wont help with more then 10 degrees but it really is not enough. I've seen many people have problems with this processor i3 2348. GPU is 635m nvidia. It's so frustrating for a laptop to seem to be so good but actually be quite weak fro its price. The specs mean nothing if you can't use them. Since I don't think I can fix it I would like to know what kind of different processor I could update to.

hi robjacks,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

You can try setting the maximum Processor state to 99% This can Prevent your system from triggering Turbo boost, which I believe is one factor of your system over heating and throttling down.
Follow this guide on how to get to the settings.

For your CPU upgrade.

Hi I have a serious problem and need some help. I have a Lenovo ideapad y560. It was working great until last days. It started to shut down suddenly while playing games like call of duty 5 or fifa 11. Interestingly, while the battery in and ac adapter is NOT plugged in there is no shutting down or power off, everyting is perfect. However, While I plugged in(whether the battery is removed or not), in any case, pc suddenly shuts down in 5 minutes. I have formatted my notebook but nothing has changed. I have not updated Bios, I do not know the version but it must be the first version. I tried to use it only with plugging with the adapter and removing the battery but it did not work as well. As I said, while the battery is in and ac adapter is Not plugged in, it works fine but when I plugged in it just shuts down suddenly in 5 or 7 minutes. The problem can be associated with the ac adapter, I do not know..Any ideas? Should I send the notebook to the Lenovo technical service?

Answer:Lenovo Y560 suddenly shuts down while playing games

you may need to clean the fan and/or try to update/reinstall graphic card drivers.also, please, check the bios version that you have:( press windows + r, type "msinfo32" then enter )as i know, the latest one is 71.

I might also suggest checking with headphones to see if the sound operates normally with headphones. If not, then it is likely the driver, or the audio chip (but more likely the drivers).

If it works fine with headphones, but not speakers, then maybe there is a pinched wire shorting out the speakers.
In that case, I would contact service - they should be able to fix it and would be able to identify what the problem turned out to be. If it is just one or two random cases, then perhaps exchange makes sense.

Update us how it goes.

Answer:Lenovo Y700 hang/Freeze when playing games

Seems like this is a windows file and the reasons could be as wide as corrupt registry entry to a corrupt windows installation.

Usually to check for windows errors, click on start then open CMD with admin rights
Type scannow /f
See if any error pop up

Since its a new laptop, you can try to Reset the PC to factory settings and install softwares carefully. Its possible the some software corrupted this file.
To Reset the PC (Note - This will delete all personal data) -
1) Shutdown laptop.
2) Press One key recovery button
3) Select (Advanced options) Troubleshoot > Reset this PC

I've tried setting the battery settings to high performance, disabling the other graphic card (Intel HD something) and changing the Processor Power Management settings, but nothing seems to work. I don't know if this is entirely on-topic to this specific forum, but help would be appreicated regardlessly. Thanks.

Answer:Why does my Lenovo Ideapad Y510P lag (whilst playing games), when it's not plugged in?

I'm not an expert, but as far as I know if the power cable is not plugged in then you cannot use the SLI, so only one card is working. But I may be wrong, correct me this case.

I have also faced a similar problem with games like dota 2. I have already tried updating the NVdia drivers and setting the games to run on the Nvdia GPU. Can someone please give a solution cos I really put quite a it of money into it and its not working as I want it to. Being my first Lenovo product this is really a let down. Please assist ASAP.Thank you

Answer:lenovo z570 stoping while listening music aur playing games

hi larikrohail,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Your system might be experiencing Freezing lagging issue.
Sometimes it is caused by a background program that's using too much process.
You can isolate this by performing a clean boot.

I would suggest disabling the antivirus first and check if it going to improve. Some times a monthly or weekly Virus scan of the PC can cause slowness or freezing.

Best Regards,
Solid Cruver

My R9 M375 in my lenovo y700 laptop seems to have a problem, while in game and under load, the GPU keeps going from 820mhz to 1005mhz, this manifests as stutter in games and annoys me quite a lot. Here is a picture of gpu-z while playing a game. And also why does the gpu usage vary that much under the same loadIt is supposed to stay at a 1005 mhz at all tims under a game.

When I first had this problem it would only freeze once a day. Now it happens everytime I try to play a game. I have seen some other posts on this forum to try to fix my problem but I still haven't found a fix. I have reinstalled windows, moved some games to my ssd, updated BIOS, updated graphics card drivers / downgrade drivers, etc and the problem continues to happpen. This it what actually happens: Im like 1 min into the game and then all of a sudden the whole laptop freezes and the audio from the game keeps on repeating. The laptop doesn't let me alt + tab, alt + F4, the mouse and keyboard doesn't work at all, I'm forced to do a force shut down. This problem only happens when I'm using the AMD grahics. If I play a game on the intel graphics it won't freeze but the game is barley even playable.I really want this problem fixed! Please help me.

Hello, I have been experiencing a very frustrating issue with my new Ideapad Y510 which I had purchased just a few days ago. Minutes into playing games, my screen would suddenly turn black and my system would restart. I have been conducting extensive research into this problem and notice that many others experience the same. As far as I know, all of my drivers are updated. Please look into this problem. Unfortunately, I am very close to sending this PC for a refund. Daniel.

Answer:Brand new Lenovo Ideapad Y510 crashing while playing games

Hi Daniel,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that your new Y510 Laptop is restarting while playing games. Please let me know if the system is restarting because of increase in CPU/GPU temperature increase also would suggest you to check using the Laptop on a Flat Surface to make good air ventilation and check if there is any Dust/Foreign particles stuck in the air vents. Please let me know the findings.

Hope to hear back soon

My Lenovo Ideapad Z710 (Windows 10) works just fine most of the time, but when I try to play games, first some individual pixels and as time goes on the entire screen starts flickering until it?s almost impossible to play. If I turn off my graphics card, a NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M , it worked fine again. Now first of all, it would be nice to know whether anyone knows what the cause of this first problem is and how to fix it, as I would like to be able to use my regular graphics card when playing (enables me to play on a higher resolution). Added to that, I?ve now noticed that on other games, there is a flickering, without the pixel flickering first, no matter whether or not I deactivate my graphics card. Anyone have an idea where this problem could stem from?

I have lenovo y410p. While I was playing dota2, it has message alert "display driver stopped responding nvidia" this game will shut down and also in csgo game. How to solve this problems.

Answer:Lenovo Y410p display driver stopped responding nvidia while playing games

Hi God,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing.

Firstly, which operating system is running on your laptop?

This error occurs when Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR) feature detects that the graphics card (GPU) does not respond within a period of time and reinitializes it with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM).

Reasons could be:

The display driver is outdated, missing, corrupted or broken.
Your video card is very old and there isn't a fully compatible video driver for your Windows OS.
There are too many programs running at the same time in the background, which causes conflicts.
It takes more time than permitted for GPU to display graphics to your monitor.

Please refer to the below link for better understanding.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Regards,
Shashi Kumar

I have a lenovo laptop,Z580 Today out of nowhere the whole screen turned white. I shut down the laptop but when i tried to reboot,The screen was still white.Something told me to just remove the battery and see if that would at least get it to boot and here i am,However, the battery is currently out. What could be the problem? Will it happen again? I only have a month left until work starts again,Can't have it breaking </3

Answer:Lenovo Laptop Screen Turns White Upon Boot?

Hmm sounds like you may have a monitor problem mate - can you get into safe mode?? if you can run these
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Disk Check < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2

NB SFC best run for about three runs

if no go then do these
SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!
Malwarebytes | Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium
AdwCleaner Download
ADW download from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
(NB If one is running Kaspersky security it may rant about ADW - just ignore it or disable Kaspersky while the ADW is being used)

One last thing try leaving the battery out unplug form the power source and hold down the power button for around 10-20 seconds and then power up again.

Hello, I'm actiza. I bought this laptop last Christmas and have been quite happy with it, but I know it must be capable of more. A friend of mine has an older laptop and much worse one but for some reason he has the same/higher fps playing those games than me. Everything should be updated, Nvidia drivers, windows updates etc.
For example, when playing League of Legends at maximum, it says that my FPS is at 40-48 but I can see clearly, how it lags. When lowering the shadow quality, everything becomes fine, but Nvidia experience, sets everything to Very High when optimizing. My battery is plugged in whenever my laptop is working. And it is set to maximum performance.

Problems:
1. Games lag
2. Kind of slow start up in my opinion
3. Performance is way too bad for such a laptop in my opinion.

Laptop info:
Asus N56VZ
I hope you can help me increase my laptop's performance because I'm sure there's something misconfigured.
Also should this be a problem:

Why isn't the laptop display above GT 650M?

Answer:A quite new laptop lags when playing almost any games

I think my BIOS version could be outdated though.
Current is: N56VZ.211, 21.08.2012.
Newest downloadable is: 216 2013.01.09.
But if I need to update it, I need step-by-step instructions on how to, because I'm not really sure how to. I downloaded something called the "WinFlash" from Asus's support site.

I have applied thermal paste several times, recently applied shin-etsu thermal compound. I have checked the fan. Its dust free and is functioning properly. Tested the temperature with various softwares, such as HWInfo64, HWmonitor and GPU-Z. The temperature reaches ~95C while playing games. No FPS drops, I get very good FPS with games such as assassins creed unity, GTA V, Bioshock infinite. The surface above the touchpad doesn't feel too hot, but the surface just above the fan(near the side of keyboard) feels hot. Never experienced BSOD while playing games. Sometimes the temperature reach 98C but the laptop never shuts down. Room temperature is 38C right now.
I have all the drivers installed up to date. My CPU consumes no more than 50-60% while playing games. With GPU-Z, I can see that the nvidia gpu doesn't get overheat. It stays ~78C while playing games, but when I click on the intel gpu 4600, it shows about 93+ celcius.
I use nvidia gpu for games(Checked it with nvidia control panel), and intel gpu for other things. Its set in the nvidia control panel.
Today I performed another test using prime95. Ran it for about 1 hour with no issues.
I think the fan is not blowing at a high speed while playing games. Today, while using prime95, the fan was blowing at a high speed. I don't get this amount of speed while running games.

Edit- When the laptop is in idle state, and the charger is not plugged in, the temperature is around 48-50C(intel gpu core clock speed 600MHZ).... Read more

Answer:Laptop gets overheat while playing games..about 95C

Room temp of 98C? I think you mean 98F. If ambient temp is that warm it will be very hard for the laptop to stay cool. You need a good cooling pad.

Hi,

So i have a problem with my laptop. Idk why but it shuts down whenever I play graphic-intensive (kinda) games. It completely shuts down literally after 5-10 seconds of play. I recently tried to disable my graphic card then tried to play, and it worked. It didn't shut down. But I get less than 10 fps. I've tried uninstalling my graphics card then reinstalling it again but the results are still the same.

Info:

AMD Radeon HD 7600M Series with Intel Core i3-3120 [email protected]
4 GB RAM (3.90 GB usable)

Thanks!

Hi there.I have a laptop and would like to connect my Nintendo 64 and Gamecube to it for my son as to save room rather than getting a seperate TV for it.I was wondering if I bought a USB TV card would I be able to play the consoles through that, or is there another way of connecting the consoles to my laptop.Any help greatly appreciated.Thank you.

Answer:PLAYING GAMES CONSOLE ON LAPTOP

Why would you want to do that?If you use a TV card it's going to introduce a slight delay which will make the games unplayable. You could use an emulator on the laptop if it's powerful enough.Or just use a cheap telly like it was designed for in the first place.

Hi,I posted this question on the microsoft fourms. "My connection in games has been very bad lately and I don't know why. I don't believe it is my wifi as I checked it on my fathers computer and his connection is fine.Basically I came home on Thursday (which is when the problem started happening) and my ping in games has gone up far above what it usually is. I tried updating some of the network things and diagnosing them but nothing helped. I also did some things with my internet security which didn't help either." Basically I believe there is a problem with something in my laptop that is effecting the ping in games, as I tried sitting right next to the router and the problem still existed. Also, I tried to manually update the network adapter on my laptop and nothing happened. The guy who was helping me in the microsoft fourms said that it could be a "adapter such as a hardware problem." Any help is appreciated. The microsoft fourm link is: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-networking/bad-connection-on-my-laptop/...

Since my friend is too stressed as well as not the type to go on places like this I am asking for him.

He has a AMD Athlon II P340 Dual-Core 2.2Ghz laptop with 3 gigs of ram and a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series 1.5GB, the thing is 4 years old. Well he has been having issues with games and since I own a desktop I only know so much about what its really capable of...

Anyway, he wants to play games like Warframe, War thunder and not need to lower the settings all the way just to in some cases barely play. Also seems he cannot run Just cause 2. Now another friend I talked to briefly said sounds like something is eating his resources but again only know so much about laptops.

So is it his CPU? video card? ram or is it all the junk that might be on his system?

He did note that his laptop does seem to run hot and with only one fan vent it coudl be the reason for all I know, he said an I quote here" its hot enough to melt the glue of the foot pad in the corner, and cause my hand to sweat."

he would love to get a desktop but sadly funds for him are quite limited.

Answer:Laptop has issues playing games

It is quite obvious that the problem is temperature and I also think that laptop doesn't meet the recommended specification requirements of the games he wants to play.

ello I recently got this laptop (about a month ago) and i have been dealing with heating problems with my CPU while playing games. i know this is not a gaming laptop but i expect it not to overheat (when i say overheat thats like 80C on the CPU cores)when playing on medium graphic setting during the first 15 minutes in world of tanks :\.

I've been reading into ( http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1800828/intel-temp... ) and other source and i know my CPU shouldn't be consistently 80C when playing games

Any help would be welcomed im just really annoyed cause this is fairly new laptop meh. By now i suspect i just bought a bad laptop lel.

for my system specs and real temp https://ibb.co/i5p0L5

Answer:CPU overheats while playing games (Laptop)

That's slightly high but not SUPER hot, I mean on a laptop the temps are going to be much different than on a desktop computer, especially if you are playing games.

What's the temps sitting on the desktop while idle?

Hi. I have a lenovo ideapad yoga 11s. While surfing the web it never gets hot only when I play league of legends and especially pokemon tcg online itll get even hotter. I heard theres something that you can change in power options in processor power management but i dont understand that. Should I be worried that my laptop gets hot?

Answer:While playing games my laptop overheat, hat do I do about it?

Yes. Heat can shorten the life of your laptop. Normally the laptop takes care of the problem. The fan is controller by a heat sensor. But if it really gets hot it will shut down. Has that ever happened? What do you have under the laptop? It should be a smooth surface that allows air flow. You can get an external fan to help keep it cool, but that shod not be needed. You can just use a cheap desk fan to help cool the back of the laptop. At Walmart you can get a little fan the runs off the USB.From Walmart.com: Desk Decor Plastic Shell PC Desktop Cooling USB Mini Fan Pink DC5V 2.5W now just $11.34 on sale.Does that answer your question?

First off, hello and thanks for taking the time to read my post and help me out with my issue!

So a few weeks ago (I think) I got home, grabbed my laptop, booted it up, and the screen kinda freaked out for a quick sec and went back to normal (might have been due to how I grabbed it which is probably the source of most of the trouble I'll list). When I finished loading up and tried using applications, that application would freeze and give me the "Not Responding" bull-crap after showing no signs of response for 2-3 minutes. This was for every single thing I tried to do and would sometimes start giving me a message saying that Windows is not responding and gave me two options: stop it or cancel.

However, that issue got resolved. I got my computer wiped and installed Windows 7 Ultimate. The freezing stopped and everything was back to normal after updating a few drivers until I booted up a game. The first one I did load up was League of Legends. After a few minutes, my whole computer shut down and I found out that it was because my computer overheated. Keep in mind that this was a game that my computer had no problem playing and would never make my comp crash due to temperature problems. I tried other games (such as metal gear rising and dark souls) and the result was pretty much the same.

So basically, my laptop ran into an originally very bad but easily solved problem but upon being fixed was not able to cool itself sufficiently enough while playing games th... Read more

First, of all i read the instructions in posting BSOD, the problem is can't find the zipped folder (not in the desktop) though it says it is already made, but i will attached my minidump file that i zipped 082615-35193-01.zip.

Also I'm having problem with my minidumps file this is the only time that my laptop was able to generate a minidump file.

Regarding the problem my old laptop an Asus K42J has been getting BSOD. I tried performing CHKDSK but did not find any problem, i also perform an sfc /scannow (not sure is this the integrity check sorry not quite knowledgeable with this things), i also use a memtest but i didn't encounter with any problems using it, also furmark, i tried doing a repair install (not sure if that's the proper term) but i still get BSOD. I've been getting it for quite a time now but i tend to ignore it just got frequent these days.

my common BSOD code are 0x0000000f4, 0x000000007a, ntfs.sys

I don't know what happen, my laptop was able to run lots of games smoothly now they all got laggy and it's crazy. When my laptop was running them smoothly it was rated 4.9 for gaming graphics in the rating thing ( don't remember what it's called). Now it is rated as 4.2, . I've tired everything, registry cleanup, defragmenting, stop process while playing and change game priority. I am using a Vista 64 bit OS. Thanks too.

Hey all,

First, this is my first post on this forum, I found this forum when looking for a solution on my problems with the laptop.

The laptop is a Dell xps L10701X (nearly one year old)
The specs are:

CPU = i7
GPU= nvidea 445M (3gb, non shared ram)
HDD = 2x 500gb
Ram = 12 gb DDR3 1333
OS = windows 7 64 bit ultimate (clean install just 2 hours ago)

2 out of 3 times i boot, the computer just freezes on booting, always happens during the windows logo.
When it boots it just takes a game or a video to totally freeze the notebook, the screen turns black when that happens.

Yesterday I have someone from Dell to replace my mainboard, but that didn't fix the problem.

Any help would be greatly apriciated.

Jory

Hi,
I recently bought the Talos Principle from Steam. I was playing, with no problems, for about half an hour. Suddenly, the picture began to stutter, and my sound became distorted / crackly. After about a minute or so my computer shut itself off. I rebooted it back up, got a bluescreen, and had this cycling for a little while. After holding the power button with no power cable connected, and then rebooting with my power output attached, my computer powered back up. A little digging in the Event Viewer threw this up:
The system was shut down due to a critical thermal event.
Shutdown Time = ‎2014‎-‎12‎-‎16T20:05:50.416683400Z
ACPI Thermal Zone = _TZ.TZS0
_CRT = 371K
This has happened before - last year while playing FIFA 14 - Acer offered to replace hard-drive. It happened again with FIFA 15 (I should probably stop buying FIFA ) and now today with Talos. For context, I have about 26 games installed on Steam at the minute, and they all run perfectly fine. I've downloaded and run RealTemp, and everything seems to be fine when I am just browsing the internet, working, listening to music, etc.
Any idea what the problem might be / how I could fix it?
Cheers.

I am deciding to play video games using steam on my laptop. I have windows 8 and I am wondering should I switch to windows 7 or keep windows 8?

Answer:Win7 or Win8 which is best for playing games on laptop

This article may help you decide: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews...Don't even consider downgrading to Windows 7 unless your laptop manufacturer has Windows 7 drivers for that model on it's website. Windows 8 drivers will not work on Windows 7 so you must check laptop maker's website first.Too many laptop owners rush into upgrading or downgrading the OS without checking what drivers are available, then they wonder why half the hardware doesn't work.

Hi,
after installing windows 10 (clean install) my laptop completely freezes, so far happend only while playing games. This is possibly related to nvidia gpu, because basicaly nothing else uses it. I dont get any error or bsod and nothing in the event log, it just hangs with the "bzzz" sound and i have to restart.
Games a tried playing are heroes of the storm and rocket league, got freezes playing both. Time it takes to freeze is random sometimes 10minutes and sometimes 3 hours.
heres some hw info http://pastebin.com/qAhLZSc3 any help appreciated.

Answer:Laptop completely freezes while playing games

Hi there! This new operating system is indeed causing a lot of problems. Which is why I have temporarily stopped gaming on PC to opt for mobile instead. It?s funny how something as simple as this arcade app: https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/elec...963759829?mt=8 does the job! I am not sure if you can find it on the windowsphone.com store, but it definitely is worth a looking for. If mobile gaming is something that you are considering in the wait for a fix to all these bugs, you can always check platforms like Gameloft.com or http://en.softonic.com/S/windows-7-pc-app-free-download. They all have really cool titles for iOS, Android or Windows Phones! Hope that helps and enjoy it all!

Any thoughts on why this might be? Is it a graphics problem? CPU? Should he be re-installing his OS?

Hey guys, just three days ago I ordered a new-condition HP Pavilion 15 Liquid Platinum laptop. Since the beginning, I've noticed that when playing different video games, the arrow keys don't respond properly. For example, when playing a racing game, the vehicle in the game may not turn if I press down on the left or right arrow keys. If the vehicle does turn,
if I let go of the left or right arrow key, the vehicle may still keep turning. Also, sometimes by only holding down the up arrow key to tell the vehicle in the game to move forward, without letting go of the key at all, the vehicle may start to decelerate as if I did let go of the up arrow key. These problems don't only occur in just one game, they happened in almost every game I have tried so far, with some games responding better to the keyboard keys than others. I am pretty new to using Windows 10, so if anybody could give me some advice as to how I can resolve this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

I have a HP Probook 4545s with AMD A4-4300m 4 GB of ram and AMD Radeon 7420g.The CPU temp suddenly increases from 35 ?C in idle to 85 ?C in a few seconds and drops back again to 35.This is really annoying cause the fan gets really loud for a few seconds. Also when I use Skype,or playing games after 15-20 minutes it shuts down(actually it hibernates). When i turn it on again it shows that the max cpu temp was over 120 ?C .Also lately I started getting BSOD KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR - 0x0000007A.The laptop is three months old and it was used for browsing.
Any suggestions?

Answer:Laptop overheating,BSOD while playing games

HP laptops are well known for over heating , I had to send mine back to HP because after just 6months from new because it wouldn't stay on for over 5 minutes it just over heated straight away so I think anyone who has a HP laptop needs a can of compressed air to keep the fan and fans vents clean, HP website/ signs of overheating and using compressed air to clean the fan and vents so my advice would be before you deal with the error message clean the fan and vents so hopefully your laptop will stay on and not over heat and then you'll beable to run CHKDSK without the laptop cutting out half way through ( which would be bad for the CHKDSK process and the laptop )

hi everone.

for the past week my MSI GT783R gaming laptop have been shutting down when playing games.
after starting a game within a minute or 2, the laptop will shut itself off without warning, then start-up again.
after that it usually shuts off again mid-boot or just after it loaded windows.

a few things i have noticed and tried:
1) it only happens when the AC charger is plugged in, both when battery is hooked to the laptop or not.
2) GPU and CPU temps are below 80c when the shut down happens
3) i already suspected an overheating issue, opened up the laptop, cleaned both CPU and GPU and their heatsinks + fan and applied new thermal paste (Arctic MX-4).
4) tried using a different AC charger, from my brothers GT780DXR laptop.
5) i formatted my pc and did a clean windows 7 64-bit install.

despite all of the steps above the issue yet remains.
i scoured google for the past week with no luck.

please help me! :cry

thanks in advance

Answer:MSI GT783R laptop shuts down when playing games

Do you know the wattage of your brothers AC adaptor? Have you felt the side of your ac adaptor as it's running, does it feel very hot to the touch?

When you run on battery your laptop will automatically lower power consumption and performance so to rule out a power problem I would recommend you disable all of these features, some will be in control panel, power, select maximum performance or select advanced settings and disable each one, there may be others also that MSI have installed that you will also have to disable.

To test stop using games and download a benchmark such as 3dmark, heaven benchhmark ect. you need something that will give you a performance score at the end of the test for comparison to be sure the laptop is working at maximum performance while only on battery, then google for scores similar to your cpu and vid card, alternatively if you see a review that benchmarks your laptop see what test they use and run that instead to compare the scores. I use speedfan and msi afterburner to monitor cpu and vid card temps in graph form. Now run your laptop only on battery to try and get it to shutdown.

Run a seperate cpu test to try and isolate the problem such as intel burn test, this will run your cpu at it's hottest temp and give you a Gflop score at the end, google your cpu and compare with other gflop scores to be sure you cpu is running at maximum performance while monitoring temperatures, listen for you cpu fan speeding up it should sound like a hai... Hi Guys

I have a Dell latitude ES5500 which is a recon model
It works fine and on start up I hear the fan going. (so I don't think this is the problem)
All of the airways are clear.
When the laptop first arrived I could get 4-5 mins of video or game time before it shut off, it is now down to virtually straight away.
The laptop does not feel hot to touch either and when turned back on will perform any other function ie e mails word processing database and excel etc without a problem.
I can go on facebook and read post search the internet with no problems but as soon as I try to run a video or play a game it drops straight out.
I have to hold the button down to shut the laptop off and then it will restart with no bother.
This is fairly frustrating and I was wondering if anyone had any advice/ solutions to this?

Answer:Laptop keeps turning off when playing video's or games

It's worth installing HWMonitor or SpeedFan to check temperatures when you are playing video. My laptop fan doesn't kick in until the GPU temperature gets to 60c and it then drops rapidly to about 50c whereas your fan is working from start up.

I have this laptop: Amazon.com : ASUS A55A-AH51-WT 15.6-Inch LED Laptop (White) : Laptop Computers : Computers & Accessories, with additional 4gb Kingston ram aftermarket.

I am getting BSOD crashes whenever I play video games, like league of legends. They happen randomly and with seemingly no direct cause.

Windows has given me solutions to update my graphics card drivers, but whenever I "update" it gives me the same one I have and continuously says to update the driver.

I have tried solutions online, and including updating to the generic Intel Iris graphics drivers, but it still crashes. Attached are the dumps.

Answer:Asus Laptop BSOD When Playing Video Games

Reports aren't complete. You're missing the Systeminfo.txt file.
Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs.

Let it run for at least 15 minutes - or until the app itself says that it's done. Then zip it up and upload it with your next post.
While waiting, ensure that you have ALL Windows Updates. It may take several trips to get them all.

I noticed that you don't have Secure Boot enabled. If you were having problems with it and changed it, please let us know.

It's not necessary to enable it now. But, should you reinstall Windows at some point in the future, please enable it first.

I mention this because it may happen that (one day) the system won't boot. This can be caused by a program changing your UEFI settings, or an update of the UEFI resetting it to default values.

To test and see if this is the cause, boot into the UEFI and see if the settings have been changed. If uncertain, try with Secure Boot both on and off (and the UEFI on UEFI or Legacy (CSM))

If it still doesn't boot after trying this, then move on to other troubleshooting tools as it's not likely to be due to this.

You have HWMonitor installed - what are the GPU temps running when under stress (such as running a video game)?

You have Furmark installed - what were the results of testing ... Read more

my laptop shut down while i was gaming and a blue screen came when i rebooted it what is causing this

Answer:Windows 7 laptop restarted with BSOD after playing games

It's impossible to say what caused it from the scant info you've given us.At a bare minimum we need to know what appeared on the BSOD, such as the fault description at the top and the error code lower down. That would at least give us a few clues. To ensure that the next BSOD stays on-screen for you to read and write it down, you need to disable the automatic restart feature:Control Panel > SystemClick the Advanced tabUnder Startup and Recovery click Settingsuntick Automatically restartClick 'OK'Next time a BSOD occurs it will stay on screen.

Hi,

My laptop crashes everytime i put it in Gaming Mode - a button i press on the keyboard that will automatically overclock my cpu/gpu, this was made by the manufactures and i have never fiddled with it - and then proceed to play a game. The time it takes to BSOD seems to be entirely random anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour and a half. It also doesn't seem to scale with how intensive the game is; a relatively light game like Trine 2 was the first to cause me this problem and usually BSOD'd me very quickly while Arkham Origins will usually BSOD from half an hour onwards.

I finally got reliable high speed internet two days ago and updated my AMD drivers from the horribly outdated 13.2 (i think i stupidly got the drivers from my backup hard-drive instead of just downloading them) to the current version 14.9

This helped immensely and i thought the problem was solved until just now when my computer BSOD after having played Tera for 3 hours.

Possible Issues:

Age/Gaming Mode. I have had the laptop for 4 years now, even though it has never been a problem before perhaps it can no longer handle being overclocked. However as most modern games require the power i get from Gaming Mode to be playable this is my final alternative.
Hardware. I clean out the heat sink and replace the thermal paste every few month or my laptop would run too hot. Issues first appeared after a complete reinstall and clean. Maybe i ruined something this time ?
Any help you can give me with this issue ... Read more

Hello, on my laptop I've been having horrible lag spikes while playing any sort of game. This problem was not present about 10 months ago and i used to be able to play games very smoothly without any problems.

My Laptop is a Gateway NV52, 4 GB ram, and 320 gb hdd.

I think there has to be something in my backround processes that is eating up so much memory.

I also have a picture of one of these cpu usage spikes, i believe it is pretty bad lol.

Any help to solving this problem would be greatly appreciated, it is such a hassle to play games and just having my fps go down the drain and my laptop running so slow

It may not be a "very small issue" if your laptop fell, it may have damaged something. However, let's assume it hasn't so try this:Go into your Control Panel > Display > Advanced Settings and increase the display resolution (drag the slider to the right).

I've got a new laptop (Dell Inspiron 17r special edition) for 1 week now, and last night I've been playing Devil May Cry and I started noticing lag. Normally, I would play Devil May Cry and Resident Evil 6 on highest settings with google chrome and utorrent running in the background and it would not lag.

Does anyone have an idea what might have caused this?

Answer:My new laptop suddenly starts lagging when playing games.

It could be one or more of the following..

1) your system is overheating

2) Windows may be running maintenance in the background such as updates or defrag. This is most prevalent the first few days or so of starting windows and has many updates to catch up on.

3) spyware, malware, virus, etc... Get rid of the 30 day free trial AV and purchase a full version or use Free AV such as AVAST FREE.
I use AVAST FREE and malwarebytes antimalware and I have absolutely NO problems with such things.

There may be other programs that run scheduled tasks such as scans or updates, When I gamed I used to use GAMEBOOSTER, its a free program that temporarily shuts down all programs and services that are not necessary to run windows and stops automatic updates as well.
It is configurable to allow some preferred services that you dont want to stop, the best part is you can restart all those services and programs again with one click and without rebooting the computer.

My current laptop is a hp pavilion dv6 us3040 (not the best laptop to game with but it does what it needs to at a point thats good enough for me at the moment. Recently my laptop fell off of my desk (about 2 1/2 feet off the ground, and yes I know this is what caused the problem). After this happened, whenever I attempted to start up my laptop with my dual screen setup it would start up fine, but after a few minutes (just beginning to open up some browsers) the main laptop screen flickered rapidly and then shut off, this problem continued a few tries afterwards but when I unplugged the dual screen I was able to open up my browsers like normal. Opening up a simple game such as minecraft though would start the problem. A few days later I fixed the problem by taking the entire laptop apart and checking to make sure everything was plugged in (everything looked fine). When I tested the laptop it was back to normal. That was a few days ago, the problem has come up again, just not as bad. I am able to run my computer normally with my dual screen setup but when I try to run something like lets say Team Fortress 2 or a simple game of minecraft while in a skype call, the problem arises again.
When flickering the screen goes from white to black to normal and repeats slowly gaining speed, stopping momentarily then gains speed. Depending on the game I am playing the moment the screen begins to flicker it begins flickering rapidly and the entir... Read more
