IE11 won't open .mht files (created with IE11)

Question: IE11 won't open .mht files (created with IE11)

I have a number of .mht files created some time ago (approx 2 years) with IE11 (.mht files are a specific IE format for saving a web page as a single file).
Now IE11 won't work with these files. IE just gives the message "Internet Explorer has stopped working".
But if I load the files onto an old XP machine (with IE7), they load absolutely fine.
I'm guessing that some (security) changes have been made to IE11 that have affected its workings.
I've googled for a solution / ideas, but no joy. Anyone here got any thoughts?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I had started a thread earlier here, called "Cannot change name of New Folder. Can't add Search Provider".

Well, I reset the system to a System Restore that was quite old, and the renaming of folders problem seems to have gone away (at least for now). However, what is really bothering me is that IE11 is keeping track of every file I open on my computer, and when I click on the entry in History, it opens the file!

I have disconnected the computer from the internet, but desperately need help in terms of what to do!!!

I have 7 email accounts on our Exchange server for different business and personal roles.  I have always used OWA instead of Outlook to segregate accounts on my desktop.  For quick logins I have been using "Keyboard Express"
Macro program  to insert USER and PASSWORD into OWA.   With some update applied in December 2015, Keyboard Express no long works on most of my Macro hotkeys because the IE hotkeys have taken precedence.  Such as ALT-H and other.
This same think happened to IE11 when I ran the Windows 10 upgrade 2 months ago, so I restored Win7 with a disk image to get rid of Window 10.
Is there a way to assign precedence between a Macro Program and IE11 Hotkeys ?

anyone seen this one?
on booting up 8.1, lenovo z410, the first few attempts to use IE11 from the desktop fail. "cannot open page".
connection troubleshooter produces nothing.

go to APPS > IE and it works fine.

after using chrome and the tile app for awhile, IE11-Desktop will gain coherency and start working.

is there a way to reinstall the desktop side?

this is a clean install with little/nothing loaded on it, about to be deployed for real work so its important.
I've never seen this issue before on 7/8 so kinda lost/bewildered

Answer:IE11 Desktop fails connection. IE11 Tile App succeeds

Maybe can not get that page immediately, try setting blank page for start-up. (about:blank) and than as a start page.

The first solution than I tried I use the method beginQuoteFileUnquoteUpload1 it created me a good boundary and good Content-Type but when I receive the file. The file is corrupted :(

var formData = new FormData();
formData.append('file', document.getElementById('file').files[0], document.getElementById('file').files[0].name);

function beginQuoteFileUnquoteUpload1(data)

Good Afternoon,

I am running into issues trying to upgrade to IE11. It looks like there are several issues in my CheckSUR Log, but I am not sure how to fix them. I have ran SFC /scannow a couple times and no errors have been identified. I have been having this problem for a couple months now and have just been using Chrome. I have also had several issues with the Aero Effects and Themes as I have to troubleshoot that multiple times a day.
I am receiving error code '3FD' from Windows Update regarding IE11.

Attached is my log.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Answer:IE11 Update/Install Issue - Trying to Upgrade to IE11

hello and welcome skohon now personally I would download IE11 Download Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 from Official Microsoft Download Center - it says on my machine I already have it if yours does the there is something quite wrong.

If it is not on your machine then you save the above to downloads and then do what is in this Install or uninstall Internet Explorer - Windows Help

I have done this myself on odd occasions and it saves you having to muck around with updates.

First you might like to run this though in safe mode if necessary
Disk Check and run the /f and /r switches if necessary.

Hi there

This post might be a bit "Geeky" so skip if you aren't interested.

I downloaded a FREE Laptop trial version of SAP (a great learning tool for perhaps one of the largest ERP companies out there) to test and learn a bit about the programming language used by SAP (Called ABAP). The software is FREE and the licence can be automatically renewed for 90 day extensions "ad Infinitum" so this is in NO way "Mickey Mouse" software.

Since some independent consultants who have any knowledge at all of this stuff can currently earn anything from 700 - 2,000 EUR a day it seems a good platform to do a bit of Home training on.

The download (ABAP 7.5 Netweaver) can only run on a Linux Host but it installs essentiallly with "1-click"

SAP Development Tools

Now you install the front end (or the GUI --SAPGUI) on a Windows system --no problem there either.

problem is when I use any application that requires launching the web browser - I get Certificate error --not a problem as you can skip that although strange that it regards my local intranet - i.e the Linux system where I've hosted the SAP system as having a potential security problem with the certificate.

OK you can click go to website -- no problem.

Windows 10 just pops a login screen but won't do anything -- with a message in the status line "Javascriptvoid(0)"
Windows 7 works fine

I'm trying to retire my W7 VM - so any idea how to enable the javascr... Read more

I am running Win 7 Ultimate x64 and IE11. Asus motherboard, Intel I5 processor & 8gb Ripjaw RAM.

When I try to open IE it flashes for a brief second then goes away. Firefox is working fine as is all other MS software currently installed. Below is a list of what I have tried by reading forums and searches. I have attached screen shots of the errors/results of each try.

1) Uninstall in elevated cmd prompt - "Operation failed - 0x80070005"
2) Uninstall IE11 - Error has occurred - "Not all updates uninstalled"
3) Turn windows feature on/off - "Error has occurred - Not all features were changed"
4) Install IE11 - "Operating system not supported"
5) Install IE10 - "IE10 already installed on the system"
6) Tried MS FixIT software - It runs with no result.

I have tried all options listed in Safe mode as well. Have also run windows update and restore to previous point.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your input! My next thing to try may be a baseball bat!

Hello!

I'm running Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I suspect the cure will be the same inrespective of Windows version. When I click on a download I get the prompt to run, save or save as (for executables). If it is not executable I get open instead of run. But only save and save as is possible. When I click on run or open (depending on file type) nothing happens, as I didn't click yet. The same issue happens whether I get the choice at the bottom of the screen or in the downloads window (depending on link, some give the choice directly, others open the download window). I have already reset the security settings and the advanced settings to default, nothing changed. Flash, Shockwave, Java are all updated. The "do not save encrypted pages" box is unchecked. I saw something about a corrupt iertutil.dll file. I'll try restoring that from backup or using the sfc command. Anything else I should try?

Thank you in advance.

PS: This is in the office PC, not the PC in my specs, but I have full administrator access, so I can try repairing stuff. And no there is no access or download restriction from any administrator. I can download everything in Chrome.

Newbie here having an intermittent problem with IE11. Coupla' times a day I have to restart
Windows 10 because I can't get it to open IE11. Sometimes it's when I click on a link in an email, sometimes just clicking on the Explorer icon the basic framework of IE11 comes up, but with no URL and it refuses to take a URL. So I restart everything and it works fine. What's the problem here?

Answer:IE11 sometimes won't open with Windows 10

No guarantees. Do a browser cache cleanup. If that does not help, then do a Reset of IE11.

Browser cache cleanup :
Open Ie11 > at the top, Tolls < Internet Options > at Browser history, click Delete > make sure the top 4 items are checked > click delete again > click OK when done.

IE 11 Reset :
Back to Internet Options > at the top, click Advanced tab > at the bottom, click Reset > follow the prompts.......

I have tried all manner of fixes for this wretched problem from sfc chldsk to dragging and dropping and trying to find a fix in the Advanced tab in IE Tools > net options and nothing but nothing works I either get the screen opening "maximized" meaning it opens in a slightly smaller area than the screen with the toolbars showing or have to hit the max button and it will open with the double square max button (see pic) and it will for while open in that manner before reverting back.

I know how to make it open full screen but that is not what I want.

My email (WLM) also opens with this double square max button and it is driving me nuts - any ideas anyone please?

Answer:IE11 will not open maximised

This is a problem had by many. Give this a try. Go to search by the start button. Type internet explorer. When you see it pop up, right click the properties then run maximized. You have helped so many, hope that we could do the same for you.
If that does not work
Open IE, stretch to the size you want, then hit the max button close. Now see if it works right.

Question: IE11 and pdf files

Having some issues with pdf files. I already posted one question but this is more related to IE11 I think.

Using IE11 in desktop or Modern I get a prompt to open or save a pdf. Isn't there a way to automatically open it? I do use the default Reader app.

On my Win 7 computer using IE9 the pdf open automatically using Adobe Reader. But the point is they don't prompt me to open or save like IE11 does.

When I go to my Yahoo mail page, it doesn't respond to any key clicks - I can't open any item of mail, nor any of the various links down the left hand side of the mail page.

As far as I can tell, other Yahoo things (all of the applications which appear above the mail's main window) work correctly, including links within those applications.

Yahoo mail works correctly in both Chrome and Firefox.

Why does it no longer work in IE11 ?

Answer:Can't open Yahoo mail in IE11 / Windows 8.1

I believe the problem is with Internet Explorer as I have exactly the same issue with IE9 in Windows 7. It's so slow that it seems unresponsive. I have to wait minutes at a time to go from reading an email to deleting emails. In Mozilla Firefox everything works fine.
I now check my Yahoo Mail using Mozilla Firefox, or I receive the messages with EssentialPIM.

I'm using Internet Explorer 11 and Windows 7 Pro. Recently, many of my selections in the Favorites drop-down menu either don't open at all and just 'hang' - or they open onto a blank page which indicates it's trying to go to whatever website I've selected but never does. Links produced when putting a subject into Google also appear troublesome and frequently won't open. I've tried temporarily disabling IE11 add-ons and all the usual tricks without success and just wondered if someone might be kind enough to offer some advice Pete

Answer:Many Windows 7 IE11 Favorites Links won't open

Run these two freebies in the order given:AdwCleaner:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run the program. Use the "Scan" button, followed by the "Cleaning" button.Junkware Removal Tool (JRT)http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run JRT. It might appear to have stopped at times or flash the screen but sit tight until it has finished. The above are focussed on browser malware. If they find anything please copy/paste the logs on here.EDIT:Also let us know if you get the same issues with an alternative browser, such as Firefox.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek

It seems using file explorer to navigating to the internet ftp location is the only way to do this this in WIN10. It will not work from within IE11.

After I launch IE11 and then close it(with all tabs), then I open the Task Manager on the Processes tab and there are 3 IE11 instances still open and no matter how many times I end these tasks, they'll immediately open again, consuming my ram AND CPU.
That's why I started using Chrome. Still, I'd like to know what causes this bug with IE11 in 8.1.
Any ideas?

I completely removed IE11 from my computer...no reason except I want to use Firefox and want the clutter removed.

This appears to be the only unwanted result of having removed IE11.

Apparently there was a setting stored in the IE11 software that held the information to make Win Explorer open each request to open a new tab do so in the same window.

I believe there has to be a key in the registry that can be set to enable opening tabs in the same window but obviously I don't know what it is so I am in hopes that someone here can identify the appropriate key and tell me what its value needs to be to enable this function. I have no problem with editing the registry.

I have already tried to set the "open in same window option" in the control panel folder options applet but no joy.

Thanks very much if you can help me with this issue.

Answer:Removed IE11 - now Win Explorer will not open new tab in same window

Win Explorer, to my knowledge, is not natively multi-tabbed.

Visio files are received as attachments in Outlook 2016. Visio Viewer 2016 and IE11 are also installed on Windows 10 (1607).
Previewing the Visio file (VSD in this case) is successful. However, when you try to open the Visio file, IE11 attempts to open it (as expected) but only displays a blank page.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for this issue?   Other articles suggest that Visio Viewer 2016 does not support IE11.

I'm having an issue with IE11 on both my Win7 and Win8.1 PCs.

When I click on a .PDF file in a website to download or view, IE11 either freezes or gives me a message that it blocked a potentially malicious download and won't let me access it.

This happens on legit. websites (Dell, HP, etc.). Although I can get around the problem using Firefox, I'm curious as to why this happens.

Answer:IE11 blocks .PDF files

You may need to enable third party browser extensions in Control Panel, Internet Options, Advanced. If they aren't disabled in Group Policy Editor, or through the registry.

With Internet Explorer ?Enhanced Protected Mode? switched back off, the shortcuts open as expected.

Was OK before Anniversary Update, so something in the update breaks compatibility with Internet Explorer ?Enhanced Protected Mode?.

Hello,
we are soon to rollout IE11 (currently IE9 is in use). One question came up while testing the IE11 configuration: When you download a file (for eg pdf or docx) sometimes you can choose between "save, open, cancel", sometimes only "open, cancel",
sometimes only "save, cancel".
Which group policy is responsible for the possibilities? Even in local intranet zone we sometimes don't have all three options?!
Thanks for any help
Jan

Answer:How to configure download options in IE11 (save, open, cancel)

Any idea why?

The way I see it:  You say you don't want it cached, so the only thing you can do is save it; otherwise it could be reused for rendering.

is there a way to allow a specific extension to launch an app automatically?

Today, I did something that I had said I would never do; I installed Google Chrome. WHY???
It is very Simple; I have had a Gutfull of the issues IE 11 has been having in recent times - I tend to think after Updates, but not certain.
I last used IE 11 to open my Router Login Page (192.168.0.1) 9/03/2016, with no issues. Today, 27/03/2016, I needed to go into my Router again. When given this URL it just shows "Cannot open Page". I will point out here that Firefox does not have
this problem; Bang, straight into it and up comes the expected Login Page. Google Chrome is the same as Firefox.
I checked my Wife's Win 10 Laptop, IE 11 and after some Security chasing around, it finally presented the Page. Her Firefox returned the Page in seconds.
So it seems there is some conflict of interest between IE 11 and Win 64bit Pro.
What the hell is Microsoft doing in these times; They have become Experts in stuffing what were once great systems; In fact these hideous seem to have come to life since the advent of Win 10.
Is the same Win 10 Mob who are hellbent on destroying Win 7, so that we will go Win 10. I can assure you that will not happen. If I have to lose my Win 7 Business PC; Then it will be to Apple, a Company that has something that actually works.
Can anyone throw any light on this issue, as I have not found a fix that works on the Forums that I have searched.
Thank You
Owen Carlton

We have a mission critical program that now crashes because of the patch KB3160005 that was uploaded to all of our Windows 7 Professional computers on 6/14/16. When the employee tries to open a PDF in this program, IE11 hangs and the PDF will not open either.
IE11 must be shutdown. Our work around is to remove KB3160005 and then check for the updates and when it appears to hide it and this fixes the problem.

This update is shown to be critical according to TechNet and so I would like to know which one of the 5 patches incorporated into the patch is actually causing the problem and what we can do to fix it and not lose the update by removing it.
Windows 10 Professional will sometime exhibit the same issues with the same mission critical program, but the patch KB3160005 is not on any of the systems I have looked at, so I have to merely reset the browser and then all is well after that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated because this is taking up all of the helpdesk's time resetting this patch and making our employees efficient again.
Thank you,

Hello:

Does anyone know if it's possible to "tell" a pinned site on the Windows 8.1 Start Screen to open in a new IE web browser window? In this way, it would work much more similarly to how site's perform when they're pinned to the taskbar in Desktop
mode. It would also perform much more like any other app (that can be resized in Modern App mode, etc.) than just a glorified website bookmark.

Thanks.
P.S. I am not an IT pro (though I'm not opposed to dabbling with certain system files), but I was asked to post my question on this forum by one of MS's Support Engineers.

My work laptop is running Windows 7 and IE11.  Multiple times per day I have to go into Internet Settings because something is changing the "Check for newer versions of stored pages" from Every time I visit (my preference) to Never.  I do a lot of html/JavaScript/ColdFusion development and it is frustrating when I think some code that I've changed isn't working...only to find out that the browser has changed to Never again.

Our desktop team doesn't know what is going on - and claims there isn't a policy setting this value.

Any suggestions?  This was happening before when using IE9 as well.  It seems to happen 4-5 times per day for multiple days in a row...and then it will stop for a week or more before starting up again.

As you can imagine - it's difficult to do web development when your environment keeps changing.

Is there a way to "lock down" the value?  Is there a way to determine how/when it is getting changed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you!!

This is a internal Website, has two AP server.
production server : Windows Server 2008 + IIS 7.5
test server : Windows Server 2008 standard + IIS 7
both use .aspx and ,aspx.vb, and all applications are same version, use Excel file to be report template.

When I use Win7 + IE8 (or Firefox, Chrome) on both Website to generate report, all can download or open. when I upgrade to IE11, some step to generate report, but some report can not be download, only on production server, on test server, every report
all can download.

1. when finish generate report, on bottom will show a status bar, and have three button [Open] [Save] [Cancel]
2. Click Open or Save, status bar will show can't download and button change to [Retry] [Cancel] [View Download]
3. Click Retry, file can be download, but content was wrong, all will be replace by Web Page.

I try to do this on another PC, same result.
Is application need to modify? or change IIS setting? or need do anything?

I have an odd problem with IE11 that manifested itself recently. I have been coding a new website that uses php pages. The files are stored locally yet in IE11 once the files is opened in does not display and a download prompt appears. I don't have any problems with previewing the files website in firefox. I messed around with security settings and a few other things but no change occurred. Does anyone know a work around to get these pages to display?

When I start IE11...it seems to start up audiodg.exe which proceeds to open near 75 or more files. They all seem to be labeled for an AMD system and reference some Microsoft KB article.

This causes the PC to all but stop until audiodg.exe has finished processing all the files that it thinks it needs.

Why does it think it needs stuff for an AMD processor? Registry setting?

Audio device is a Delta 66 PCIe card with attached interface box.

Thanks in advance.

kjedrusiask

Answer:IE11->audiodg.exe->itopens files for am AMD on an Intel i7 box

I have a Recording Studio (using Sonar X3).

I wouldn't think the Delta 66 is the problem.

I would suspect malware of some type. If you don't have Malwarebytes, download and run that, to see what it detects.

Is there any AMD (Or ATI) listed in the Control Panel/Uninstall a Program? Also what is the KB number?

Hello,
Ive created a GPO to decrease the Temporary Internet Files Amount from the default 250 MB to the desired 50 MB. In this GPO I changed the default registry settings "CacheLimit" under "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\5.0\Cache\Content" to the 50 MB.
After the user logged on i checked the registry to verify if rhe gpo is applied successfully, and the value was changed correctly to 50 MB. However, after starting the Internet Explorer and checking the properties, the default value of 250 MB space appears.
Refreshing the registry reveals that my 50 MB setting was simply overwritten to the default value of 250 MB after starting Internet Explorer.
Why is this happening and how can i prevent that?
thanks & bye
Philipp

Answer:IE11 Temporary Internet Files Settings GPO

Hi,
Could you please have a share with the network environment and the IE version?
To increase the Disk space used in temporary Internet Files, we should configure the following two registries:
1. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Content

Change the CacheLimit value to the size you want (change the Base to Decimal);
2. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Cache\Content

Change the CacheLimit value to the same size in step one.
Please check if the above could solve the issue.

Hi I need to open 41 Internet Explorer (version 11 ) windows and then perform Screen Capture of each of them. The 41 pages are on the same intranet server. The web pages are made with OLD Adobe SVG, they autorefreshed by themselves.

I have a basic script/macro that brings the ?WinActive? by title, one by one, and save the ScreenCapture (image) from the Clipboard to jpeg image.

Currently my PC hardware is Intel I5 vPro, 8 Gb RAM, 250 SSD, Windows 7 Pro 64 bits

My problem is after 4 hours or so, the PC starting slowing down and my script abort, due to the decrease in the PC performance, when he is too slow to bring the next IE window as the Active windows

I have tied to clear my temp folder after each cycle, it help a little bit but It still crashed after X hours

Given that I want to a full refreshed of the 41 Web Pages within a 2 minutes threshold. I cannot Open and Close the Internet Explorer each time. So, I open my 41 pages in 41 tabs, and flip from one to the other with the script using the Title
of the page. Then restart the process

Currently I have No paging in the Virtual Memory (8 Gb only of RAM) but it was doing the same when it was set to "let
Windows manage virtual memory". Do 16 Gb of RAM or more would help me or other settings that I should set specifically?

My macro is made with "Macro Express", would it be better to use another macro software as AutoIt ?

Thanks

How I can disable "what do you want to do with" question when opening PDF document in web browser?

Answer:IE11 ask open or save when open PDF

You mean on Windows Phone? If yeah, I think you cannot. The Internet Explorer browser is programmed to prompt you to choose what to do with a file that has a .PDF extension whenever you click download. You can always save and find it in your DOWNLOAD folder on Phone or SD Card or if you choose to open, Windows Phone detects a PDF App (Adobe, Tucan, Reader etc) and opens it with it. Mind you, if you choose to open, you cannot access the downloaded file except through the app you used to open it.

Hi,
I'm currently have the issue, that mainly PDF files are handled different ways on each website.

First example: I open a PDF file in our document management system (Intranet), I only can choose to save
the file. If I open the catering menu pdf (Intranet), it opens directly in the IE11.
Seconde example: I search google for any PDF (i.e.
http://www.orimi.com/pdf-test.pdf), it opens within the IE11.
If I open Outlook Webaccess, I only can download the file.
In the past with IE 10, I have been asked to open or to save the file.

Any idea what happened here? IE 11 is configured through GPO.

Thank you for your help!

Hello,
I have a problem with IE11 when downloading *.tif files from an intranet server.  When I click the link to download one of these files it opens sometimes and fails other times.  I can try to download the same file 10 times in a row and it may fail
4/10 times and open the other 6 times.  All other file types (pdf, docx, etc) download fine.
Now the odd thing is that the file I am trying to open is a *.tif but IE will say that *.tiff (yes, extra 'f') has been moved or deleted.  If I close IE and reopen it and then view downloads, it now says *.TIF (all caps) has been moved or deleted.  I
believe that there is something in IE that is trying to download *.tiff files instead of *.tif so it can not find the file and gives me the error.  The only odd thing is that it works some of the time.
This worked fine on IE8 and IE9 (never had IE10) but we recently upgraded to IE11 and now it is exhibiting this issue.  If I use Google Chrome it works fine but we rely on IE for a lot of inhouse applications so other browsers are not an option.  I
am at a loss and looking for any insight.
Thank you.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I searched the site and found nothing relevant to this problem. Ever since the Patch Tuesday updates of 11/12/14, the system has been building temporary internet files and cookies by huge amounts even when IE11 has not been selected from the desktop. I can go in as the Admin. and delete all of the temporary internet folders and cookie folders that I am allowed to. There are some that are blocked even from the Admin., reboot the system with no applications launced, and watch the files build. In 30 minutes, there will hundreds of files and dozens of cookies created, even though no browser was launched. The system has two users defined, the Admin and the one we use for normal operation. Our grandkids use this system, hence the second user without Admin rights. IE11 is used only by my wife, as I use FF for my browsing (with AdBlock Plus & Ghostery enabled). We have a standing policy of running CCleaner (v4.19) after every browsing session. I have also noticed that the process SVCHOST LOCAL SERVICE will have many instances running. As many as 10 to 20 of them. I also can stop the browser service for awhile and have to do so to get rid of all of the temporary internet files and the extra SVCHOST processes. If left alone, the browser service will start up and the runaway begins anew. I know IE is integral with Win7. Also the temporary internet files point to html pages we have never gone to. It looks like IE11 is using our sy... Read more

Answer:IE11 Temporary Internet Files & Cookies W/O IE Loaded.

I think I found the reason for all of the IE activity. I ran MSERT.EXE last night and it found "win32 trojan downloader" on the system and removed it. It appears that fixed the problem. Here's a link to MSERT.EXE. I ran a full scan as the quick scan didn't find anything. I also went and deleted all of the existing temporary internet files that were on the system.

Microsoft Safety Scanner - Free Virus Scan with the Microsoft Safety Scanner

Update: It's been nearly 24 hours since MSERT.EXE ran and the runaway IE file building has ceased. The system has been shutdown and booted three times in that period and no repeat of the problem. I'm going to call this one solved.

Hello,
I'm encountering a problem on different computers.
Internet Explorer 11 and Edge are not able to open files from a shared folder located on the same computer.
For example, let's say I typed this "\\10.100.100.10\folder_1\DOC_FILE.doc" on the address bar.
The browser then shows : "This page can't be displayed".
When I display more information, the error "INET_E_RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND" appears.
I have already tried to uncheck "Enable TCP Fast open" and it is still not working.
It seems like this problem cannot be reproduced on all IE11/EDGE browsers, and can be encountered on both Windows 7 and Windows 10.
Any ideas ?
Best regards

hi there,

why does IE11 remove all web passwords when you use CC cleaner and the option "saved passwords" is UNTICKED? it seems as though it's ignoring that, unless they are stored elsewhere and they get cleaned with temp files and company cleanup.

That setting seems to work for Chrome and Firefox, where passwords are kept.

any ideas?

thanks

hi there,

I would like to know if it's normal that after doing a "maintenance" cleanup on the pc, Ccleaner & PC tools "Clen Your Disk" option, (cookie/temp files, etc), then IE11 will lose all saved passwords. on Ccleaner the option "Saved Password" is UNticked.

On Chrome and Firefox instead, even by cleaning cookies and temp files, the passwords are still there.

Is it a bug or is "normal" ? I am not saying my IE11 is not asking me to save passwords as some other people reported, mine works fine just that once you clean temp files and cookies, also the passwords go.

thanks
Gab

Very normal, if you don't exclude your forums cookies from the clean list.

When you click on a Favorite in Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10 (1607), IE only opens a blank page.

We could narrow that problem down - it apparently only occurs if Favorites are redirected to a file share and Enhanced Protected Mode ist enabled.

It works fine in IE11 on Windows 7 though using the same configuration (redirected Favorites + Enhanced Protected Mode).

We have got a problem to open Office files in
Word through our Externel net (sharepoint2010 server) after an
secutityupdate for IE11 at 8-9
September 2015. We checked that
it was KB3087038 who caused it.

We work with office web apps and from there
we'll be able to open up in
read-only mode / edit mode, but then
the error message below. If we click
OK and let  Word be left opened
the document opens correclty.

The error message that comes is as follows: "The operation
has been canceled due to restrictions in the computer.
Contact your system administrator."

It works with IE10. We have an
ADFS server between SharePoint Server
(Externel net) and the client that
it should open on. Seems that
the key does not comply with the
first session but then when there is an established
Connection, it works.
Is it IE11 or could it be a certificate problem at the ADFS server(ticket server)?

Hope someone understands this!

Question: IE11 Gripes

Hi Folks,
I'm planning an automated roll-out of IE11. Maybe I'm missing something but it appears to me that MS haven't been very helpful with providing us with a package that will minimize the disruption to end users.
Here are my observations thus far.
1. After installing IE11 Enterprise mode wasn't available. After a lot of digging I found out it only

comes with certain versions. If you download the IE11 installer direct from MS (as of August 31 2015) and deploy it you won't get Enterprise Mode until you install an upgrade patch.
2. Upgrade KB2929437 will enable Enterprise Mode. However, it comes as an MSU file which, unlike a conventional updates doesn't extract to a CAB file. So this is not IEAK friendly.
3. From my own experience and that of
others who used IEAK 11 to create an MSI installer, it appears the per-requisate updates I've set to install before the IE11 install are ignored. The installer still tries to update via the Internet
4. When the IE11 pre-req patches are installed a restart is needed before the IE11 installer can kick off (same
post as above).  This makes an automated deployment very difficult. There is a suggestion of using DISM in the post above but there isn't consensus that you can get away without restarting.

Question: IE11 Problem...

OK, here's a strange one:

Upgrade my wife's machine from 7 to 10. Upgrade seems to go perfectly. Enable Administrator account (because we ALL log in as administrator around here, it's just easier) and all her settings, etc. are there...

...EXCEPT, when I run IE11, the pages don't appear. If I add a site to the compatibility list, it works normally, but otherwise it just doesn't display.

If I run IE11 in other accounts, it works fine, so something loading or some setting in the Administrator account is keeping things from working correctly. I've tried removing things from the startup. I've upgraded 3 other machines here and haven't had this problem. I rolled back to 7 and uninstalled add-ins, etc. and upgraded again, reset the IE11 settings, etc, and it's still doing it.

Any ideas?

I have windows 7 and did an upgrade to IE 11I have had problems with internet access sinceshould I go back to IE6 or other version, and how do I do that?

Answer:windows 7 and IE11

I have heard that some folk have issues with IE11 on Windows 7.Firstly try IE Reset:IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Reset button. If that's no better you can remove IE11 from "Control Panel > Programs and Features". If you can't see it make sure all MS Updates are set to be showing. If you uninstall IE11 it should revert back to the previous IE version.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek

After installing a new hard drive in my friends Dell computer everything worked fine till IE updated to IE11. Once it restarted windows would not recognize the password. It recognized it multiple times before the upgrade.

Answer:win 7 update to IE11

What's the model name and model number of that Dell computer?

What's the "service tag" number and/or "express service code" number on it?

How was Windows 7 installed in the new hard drive?

Question: IE11 Issue

Need a little help.
When I go on MSN, IE11 shows gray boxes where pictures go. It seems to to be only happening on my account. I created another user account, and IE11 displays properly on MSN.
Also, Store will not open on my account but opens on the newly created account.
Any help would be appreciated.
