I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

my daughter dropped my phone and the screen cracked a little but now the whole touch screen dont work it worked fine for a few minutes but now it dont work at all

Answer:Why is my screen not turing on after it got a small crack on it?

Loose connector.
Try and press (GENTLY) on the screen at the top and then the bottom.
Seek qualified repair even if that lets you use the phone right now. The "fix" would likely be temporary.

It was brought to my attention today that there is a small crack (about 1 inch) in the plastic screen on one of our LCD Monitors. It doesn't seem to have affected anything. The monitor dispaly still works fine. It actually looks like dirt or a scratch, but it's deeper. I haven't messed with it too much.

Has this happened to anyone else? If it doesn't get worse, will we be able to use the monitor as planned? Thoughts, comments, suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Answer:Small Crack (in LED Monitor)

Without seeing it, it's impossible to know. Since the monitor works with the crack, I'd use it until it doesn't work. Obviously, if it's under warranty, I'd get it replaced if you can.

I know this has been brought up before but my crack is very small. I have had the laptop since 6/10/15 and this laptop has been sitting on the same table ever since purchase day. I opened it up today and heard 2 small cracks and then I looked on the bottom and saw this (see picture). Found a couple of replacements for the bottom on ebay for 45 dollars but should I go ahead and do it or should I ignore. I brought an extended warranty with accidental damage protection which extended the warranty to 2 years as well if that helps

Sorry to hear of the problem with your new system.  Your only option in resolving the problem would be to contact Lenovo Support for the repair.  Replacing the part yourself will only result in your warranty being void.

Hi, I have a Thinkpad T520 with some physical damage to the casing.  A small piece broke off at the bottom left corner of the hand rest.  I have the piece and I wanted to know what kind of adhesive I should use to put it back.  I have this LePage Epoxy that is 2 tubes that you mix together before applying:  Would this work?  If not, what else can I use?

Answer:Reparing Small Crack In Casing

Epoxy is not good for holding things like this together. It is much better as a filler. It is hard but doesn't bond well when there isn't much surface strength. I would use somethink like super glue or even the type of glue sold to build plastic models. I keep both products around for repairs.

(not sure if this is the right section to post this, please move topic if not)

Anyway, my nephew got to my laptop and put a scratch/crack on to the cover of my laptop. (HP Pavilion g7-1310, 17.3 inch screen, only 4 months old). I am not sure if to call it a scratch because it is not smooth to the touch.

Its located on the top right corner if you are looking at the screen. It's about two inches long and a hair width wide. I'm concern that the crack could worsen over time. My laptop works fine, no sign of any real problem as of now. I tried contact HP but they told me to replace the cover would cost me over 350 dollars.

Should I be worried about this crack? And if so any home 'remedies' to fix this problem? All advice would be welcomed.

Answer:Deep Scratch or Small Crack on Laptop Cover

Looks like a crack. Check if the sides are at different levels by running a fingernail across and see if you feel a 'step'. (or is that what you meant by 'not smooth' ?).

I doubt it will get bigger if you handle the laptop carefully.

The 'right' way to stop it growing is to drill a small hole at each end of the crack but unless you have very steady hands or a drill stand I wouldn't risk it !

Hi! I brought my lenovo 6 months ago and my experience was very bad.... After i tink around 2 months. Whenever i open up my laptop, there is like a crack sound. I couldnt see anything visable until yesterday when the bottom of the screen just pop out. I went to the service center and was told this is not covered in the warrenty and he was sure I had drop it before to have such a problem. However I AM 100% SURE i have not drop my laptop before. My previous 2 computer could use for 5 and 4 years respectively but this lenovo brand computer that i tried is a disappointment. I was told the estimated cost is around $300 if i would have to repair it and it would take 1 month to fully fix it. I am a student. I have many upcoming projects to finish. Do you think i will have 1 month to fix this problem. And that $300 is just too much.I am pretty sure it is the quality of the laptop since i have NEVER drop it before. Although i close and open the laptop many times due to the need to travel between school and home almost everyday, isit that what a laptop is for to be portable? Please find out for me what can I do with this problem or are there any cheaper alternative out there since i am not that rich to just throw away my money for this.

I have a cracked screen on Yoga 2 13  and i am thinking to replace it. Since warranty is not working I contacted the service centre and they offered the replacment for the price of new laptop. So I said thanks either I will use as it is or find cheaper.  So please help me find the cheaper one which the most importantly fits to my one. I bought it in China (but not there anymore) and as I see the whole screen no. is 73048979. Also it issaid on paper  "13,3 FHD LED TS". I find part no. like B133HAT02.0   or LP133WF2 SP A1. But not the previous one. Can you help with finding the right one. It is frustrating a bit since I am not tech man. I am thinking sending back from here: http://www.365laptoprepair.com/Product/Lenovo-Yoga-2-13-Screen-Only or from ebay where I can find cheaper Chinese one. Is the screen from the link fitting my model? anyone knows?

Hi I have hp laptop with following properties: Natural Silver 13.3" pavillion x360 13 s194nr convertible laptop with 6th gen core i5 processor, 6 GB of ram, touchscreen 500 GB hard drive and windows 10. recently my touchscreen digitizer has been broken and I had such a hard time to work with my laptop. I want to replace my broken digitizer by the new one, but unfortunately I couldn't find any web site providing me a link to buy a digitizer, although I searched a lot. I lived in Pakistan and needed it within reasonable time. So, I just wanted to know if there is anyone here knows how to buy a digitizer for Natural Silver 13.3" pavillion x360 13 s194nr convertible laptop?

Answer:Where can I buy a touch screen digitizer for hp?

Hi, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I have gone through your issue of touchscreen digitizer has been broken. So there are Two option: 1.  If your product is under warranty then contact HP call center and asking for that hardware replacement in HP service center. So hp executive will help you as needed. Also you can call if it's out of warranty and want to fix it. 2. You can purchase online also , as few online sellers are selling that product and fix it on your own. I would recomend the option 1. Hope this will help. Thanks.  ****Click the White Kudos star to say thanks********Please mark Accept As Solution if it solves your problem****

My computer screen got a random crack on the bottom and it has spread throughout the entire screen!!! This crack wasn't my fault and I just bought this computer two months ago. It will cost me $350 to fix which is insane. I've already spent a ton of money on this computer. I can't even use the touch screen on it anymore because of the crack. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to do? I was thinking about possibly going to a small claims court. I really just want to see what everyone else has done.

My daughter dropped her HP 100B All In One computer.  It landed face down and on top of a hard object.  The screen was cracked and it worked for about a week but now it cycles through to Windows Boot Manager, Windows Error Recovery and it doesn't go further.  If I hit F8 repeatedly and hit repair then it cycles through to a blank screen and I can only move the mouse.  I do not have a VGA, HDMI, or any slot to connect an alternative screen.  And I have files that I need from the computer.  What are my options?  What can I do?

Question: Crack in screen

So obviously I would say I have a crack in my monitor and I am sure alot of people have asked this question I have even read of some already.

This is repairable? the real question what kind of repair? read something about plastic sheets and some glass by chance could you tell me which this is? last question how much is it to repair just a estimate so I can see if its worth it or not. I mean the crack is so small that you hardly even notice it like 3 inches on a 26 inch monitor :P.

I have an HP TC4400 Tablet PC with 1024x768 resolution and i want 1280x800.

1) Would it be possible for a 12.1" wxga (1280x800) screen to work correctly in it? Does HP use a generic monitor plug-in for all their laptops that would allow the screen to plug in?

2) If the resolution was higher would that require a new digitizer?

I know these are tough questions to answer unless someone on here as done this in the past but any input would be appreciated.

Hi guys, So I took my laptop out of my bag about a week ago and found this:http://imgur.com/HIRHJ(I took the photo today, I've been too busy to deal with the issue for the past week but I've played around with it now.) As you can see on the screen, there is a large crack across the top right (which I have no clue where it came from, considering I had nothing in my bag but the laptop and my bag was never impacted in any way). Most importantly, however, no image is displayed, which renders my laptop unusable as a laptop (and I desperately need it for uni, fortunately this past week was a break but now I am without a laptop to take notes in...) Plugging in the laptop to an external monitor works fine as expected, however, so does the digitizer pen. i.e. if I wave my pen above the broken screen, it appears to work perfectly on the duplicated external monitor, clicking and all. So, my guess is that all I need to do is replace the screen, right? According to the manual, http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/0a60175_04.pdf (where mine is 4294-CTO), the LCD panel I want is 04W1545. I've found one for $175 which is great, but when I asked if the place could also replace the screen for me, they said it would no longer be a tablet. They said they "think I might need to get the full screen + digitizer for $650 + installation" which is utterly ridiculous, considering that's nearly the price I paid for the laptop. What I wa... Answer:Screen replacement - digitizer support

replacing the Tablet LCD is a very expensive exercise, since there is also a digitizer layer involved. Try calling Lenovo warranty service, and ask about aftermarket parts sale, and specifically request the parts . But it won't be cheap, around the price that you have been quoted for the full repair. If you are worried about cost, then you should probably sell your current laptop for parts or as it is. And then get another X220t.

Aftermarket parts for the X220t screen assembly isn't widely available, so this drives up the price of available parts. From the picture, you got the X220i Tablet, which is not sold in Australia.

Hi,i bought my netbook S10-3 about 5 months ago.Since then, I've been taking a very good care of my netbook. But today when i opened it, there was a crack acroos the screen. It was fine until yesterday on my desk, and I never dropped it nor stepped on it.I just put it in my backpack to go to school and took out from the case, and there was a crack.I am 100%  sure there was no mechanical impact or damage to my netbook or even to my backpack. so i called Lenovo, and they say "LCD crack" cannot be covered under warranty, and I need to pay "$280" to replace the screen.I don't know how this happened. Yeah. of course the screen cannot crack by itself, but still i don't understand. Is there any way that this problem can be solved under warranty? or at least in a less expensive way?I am a poor college student, and there is no way i can afford $280 right now. Thank you

Same issue here. I am normally a MAC girl and do all my work on my desktop MAC. However, my husband recently talked me into getting an HP laptop (Spectre X360 touch screen) to do my work on. Last month, after working on my laptop until around midnight, I closed it and went to bed. When I woke, I got the children ready for school and out the door and opened it to begin my work. As I was writting, I noticed that it would stop and then make and audible noise. I though it was strange but kept working. Then I noticed small round dots popping up near the top of my touch screen as though I was touching it. I thought it was really strange so I even videoed it (still not noticing the crack). When I finally leaned to the side at an angle I finally noticed that it had a crack around the top near the camera and that travels down the right at an angle. How is this possible? The laptop doesnt move. It sits in my home where I work and I open it and shut it. It is only used for work and I am the only one who uses it, not even my husband uses it since he has his own desktop HP for work upstairs in our room. I don't understand how it was cracked, why this keeps happening to this model and why they wont simply admit the screen is defective. I love my laptop and want to keep it, but after paying what I did to purchase it, I will not pay that kind of money to replace a screen that is obviously not up to par. Maybe it is time to go back to a MAC? I haven't used it since it cracked because I am afr... Read more

Answer:Lenovo S10 : A crack behind the screen

Hi Dieucocto,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Take time to review the hardware manual especially for the LCD panel assembly (page90).
Inspect other parts that may also be affected aside from the LCD rear cover assembly (item 5 page 114) that is chipped from the image.

To get the correct part to order, best to order using the FRU/Part number that would also show in the parts lookup page using your serial number.

Hope this help answer your query.

I recently purchased a T430 from Lenovo.com. When it arrived, there was a crack on the back of the screen casing near the hinge. It doesnt appear to have happened during shipping because the box and packaging was intact. I called Lenovo support and they said they could replace the laptop, but unfortunately, I leave for university in a few days so I will really need this laptop until at least december, so not having a laptop for a few weeks to get it replaced doesnt seem like an option for me. I said that I could send the laptop back in december to get it replaced but apparently I cant do that, but I could send it in for repairs at that time but that would cost hundreds of dollars. I am slightly irritated at this point because I do not want to pay for someones manufacturing mistake (The screen bezel was also coming off but I was able to pop it back in). The computer is completely functional, and I can deal with using it for this semester, my main worry is that the crack might get larger and cause an issue.

Answer:Crack on screen case.

I haven't heard of such problem with all my years with Thinkpads. If I were you I would be cautious. That crack depending if its where the LCD cables are might exposure to the insides. Sending it for repair to Lenovo isn't such a good idea. They charge a lot less if its a third party. Also FYI you can also buy a new LCD for a cheap price and replace it yourself. Hope I helped, Tominacus

I ordered a thinkpad yoga off lenovo.com with the 1366x768 screen on Feb 23 and I haven't received it yet. I could've swore that when I chose the screen resolution their was none that specified it came with the pen and wacom digitizer, but now I'm second guessing myself. Now I see that it only comes with the 1920x1080 FHD screen and it that option specifies it has the pen and wacom digitizer. So I'm just wondering if the earlier models from lenovo.com came with the wacom digitizer and they just recently switched it to only available on the 1920x1080. The part # for my computer is listed as 20CDCT01WW.

Hello Summary:I bought a 20CD0001IV about two months ago (Demopool). I need it for work and drawing, but so far I have numerous issues. And right now I'm kinda lost: What should I do? Send a support question to lenovo/IBM EC? Contact my retailer? Are these common problems? I'm also not sure about my warranty. The Lenovo Solution Center says, I still have warranty. The different parts of the website say different things. I'll assume worst case: My warranty is likely expired. I tried:Fresh Installation Windows 8.1, newest drivers, newest Wacom drivers. Tried different settings. Calibration, Pressure Curves, all the stuff. Have 3 different Pens. Searched google, searches this forum... Problems:Massive Ghosting, I know, there is a solution on the forum. It says to replace the old screen with a newer model, but is this possible if the warranty is expired?Calibration is a mess! The digitizer point wobbles under the pen, this is most obvious near the screen border, where straight lines turn into curves. But it's also an issue in the middle of the screen. In some places the cursor is 2mm top left of the actual pen tip, in other places it's bottom right UNDER the pen. I tried all kinds of calibration already... I know about a "dead spot" issue, but this was fixed with a firmware update and my issue is all over the place, not just one spot. The screen is not very solid. Even medium pressure with the pen leads to dark and light display glitches near the tip. Pen press... Read more

Answer:TP Yoga numerous issues with screen and digitizer

I did some more testing with the maximum pressure issue. And it might be related to the pressure level of pens. As far as I know the Yoga supports 1024 levels. I have a new Wacom PL-900 and it has only 512, and the pressure problem is strongest. It is the same with the original Yoga pen, I'd say - even though this should have 1024 levels? But with an old Samsung Series 7 pen I need to press harder to reach 100% pressure - although it is still not really "hard". I'm not entirely sure how many pressure levels the Samsung Slate pen has, thought it was 510, but have seen some reviews mentioning 1024...Anyway, I posted this issue in the wacom forums.

Hi, I have just finished installing my Nokia Lumia 520 Digitizer but I have few problems with it. The digitizer works but if I switch my phone of and start it up again it stops working and I have to factory reset it by using the buttons to make it work again.
Could someone please explain me why my digitizer stop working if I switch of my phone. I've been with the charger in my pocket all time now to make sure that it doesn't run out of battery.

I need to replace my touch screen glass as it is broken. Mine is 2C version of it. There are people selling universal versions of touch digitizer online saying its compatible and original with Microsoft name on the top of it. I want to know how many versions of it are there in the market and which one is MS genuine product. or Are universal one's compatible and works fine with my device ? Also where can i buy a genuine MS Touch screen digitizer for Lumia 535 online india ?

Answer:Touch screen digitizer Microsoft Lumia 535

Be wary on line. You get what you pay for. A lot of them, even if they say Microsoft on them, aren't OEM, just Chinese knock offs. Also when replacing digitizer on the 535 you can't just change it and it works. It didn't for me and I had to 'dead' flash it. A Microsoft service centre can replace it, but, for the cost if replacement, why not plump for something like the 550? At least you will then have 4G LTE device and a more up to date chipset, or the great 640, or even a Blu Win HD LTE?

I have a T410s (2912) with a muti-touch screen running Windows 7 Enterprise - it works very well for finger gestures and such. But I'd really like to use a pen instead of my thick, sausage-sized finger. Is that possible?  A standard pencil or BIC ball-point pen has no effect when it is pressed to the screen. I called into Lenovo Support and eventually was told - nope - only your finger. Can I purchase a special "Digitizer pen" such as those for the Tablet PCs?  Or is the human finger the only input method on this screen? Thanks,JeffR

Answer:Is there any way to use a Digitizer Pen on a T410s multi-touch screen?

You need a special stylus for a capacitive touchscreen. Search for "iphone pen" or some-such.

My sister got a Toshiba laptop and soon after getting it the screen cracked for no reason at all. We think it may of happened when she shut it down and closed it. I know for certain that the damage has been caused by a fault that a lot of Toshiba laptops have involving a Heat Spot in the monitor. I'm not really sure what it all means so i was wondering if anyone could explain it to me so i can sound like i know what i am talking about when i report it. any help will be very much appreciated

All of a sudden, went to turn on the computer and the screen appears broken on display only. It has this big blot and crack look on bottom right. Looking at the screen without it turned on, it looks fine. It was NOT dropped. Why is this occurring. It's only 2 months old. Very disappointed. How do we get this fixed. Also won't let us get past this screen to use the computer. Is this still under warranty?

Answer:Screen appears with a crack looking blot

That certainly sounds like a cracked screen. The model number you have provided is not returning any search results. Very difficult to get HP to replace a cracked screen under warranty. The default reaction is that it must have been broken, not that it just broke.

Hey guys, two weeks ago I discovered a tiny crack in the screen of my x300. I closed the lid the evening before and opened it the following morning and there were colored vertical stripes (by now the screen is just black or white). It's not broken physically, it's just below the surface of the screen. I couldn't help it. It didn't fall to the ground nor did I mishandle it. Since the laptop is still in warranty I mailed it to Lenovo but they told me that I had to pay $760 (!) for them to repair it.I bought the laptop back in Germany and the dealer didn't offer me any additional warranty services nor did he inform me that the 3Yr warrant I purchased with the notebook did not cover screen defects whatsoever. Since I didn't do anything wrong I think this is unacceptable given that I paid 1400 Euros (~$2100) in November 2008. Is this really not covered by warranty? I have the feeling they just wanted to make it look like it was my fault. Thanks for any help.

I have a left screen hinge crack on my Z480. It catches when I open the lid and I fear it's going to get worse. This is actually the third problem I've had with the plastic on this computer, and from reading other discussions I don't think I'm alone. I tried calling tech support. My laptop is out of warranty but it's not 2 years old yet. I haven't dropped it. The guy pretty much told me what I expected to hear (that there's nothing to be done) and told me to take it to a local servicer but when I asked if he had a recommendation he said he "didn't know where I lived." I live in Cincinnati, OH and told him I could share that info with him but instead I got a lecture on the impermanence of material things. I would just really like to know my options and get any help from the manufacturer of this product.

Answer:left screen hinge crack

If you bought your computer with a credit card, call them up and ask if they offer free extended warranty on items purchased with their credit card. MOST credit cards doubles your warranty (at least 1 year past the initial year). However, the claim will need to be filed through the credit card company and needs to be covered under the basic warranty. Since you have "cosmetic damage" you will need to prove to the CC company that the issue is with the device construction. You can probably do so by digging up old post and sending them a faxed copy of all these posts.

Hello Approximately 6 months ago I purchased a Ideapad v570 laptop from Best Buy (USA) and havebeen very happy with it (ok the keyboard is massively jumpy but I've learned to live with it) Last night I was using my laptop until after midnight, I put it to bed plugged into the charger andopened it up this morning to find a internal crack at the bottom left of the screen that has spidered up bothsides of the screen making the screen blank and unusable. I'm calling it an internal crack because the neither the glass or the casing is damaged - just what's behind the glass. The screen has not been bumped, dropped, or had anything dropped on it. I do not carry the laptop by the screenonly by the base. When I transport the computer I carry it a padded case and inside a paddedbackpack but yesterday my laptop and I stayed at home.I purchased a Lenovo because of it's reputation of being a hardy brand but I treat mine like a princess.I haven't even taken the plastic off around the screen and the outside casing. (my friends get a big laugh out of thisbut I try to protect my laptop in every way) Last night (as always) the laptop was in a secure dry place with no kids or pets around and was completely normalwhen I left it. Today it is cracked internally with no signs of damage from the outside. I took it to Best Buybut was told to contact the manufacturer, so here I am. Please help

Answer:V570 Screen With Internal Crack

Hi, sorry to hear about your problem, however contacting the manufacturer means, contacting Lenovo support in your area. They will advise you. Hope it gets fixed soon. P.S Your comment that 'haven't even taken the plastic off around the screen and the outside casing' well you should take it off, both from the outside casing and around the screen. They're not protecting the laptop, rather cause problems, when laptop is on and may well have something to do with the current problem, e.g accumulated heat.causing internal stress ?'m only guessing however.

Hi

When I turn the display off, the touchscreen and digitizer are still enabled, so, if I touch the screen, the display comes back on. Any way to solve this?

Also, not sure if related, if I turn the screen off and leave it overnight, the battery drops by 25-30% in about 8 hours. Same thing happens when I leave the screen turned off for a short period of time, the battery just doesn't last. Not sure if its because the touchscreen and digitizer are still on.

P.S. Running on upgraded Windows 10 64bit.

Hello all, apologies if this is a duplicate issue, but my searches did not turn anything up. I just received my new TPY a couple of days ago and have been happily installing software. Today was the first time I really tried using my digitizer pen, as I finally had time to open Photoshop and Illustrator. In doing so, however, I discovered pen calibration is completely messed up for the top edge of the screen. I tested it outside of the Adobe programs and the same problems occur there. I have already gone in and tried recalibrating my pen more than once using the calibration tools in the Control Panel. Is this a known issue that I just need a driver update for or is this a hardware issue? Any help is appreciated. Thanks,Erika

If you have or can get a remote display, connect it and see if you get good picture on it.You may have damaged the ribbon cable. They are pretty fragile. You might open it up where you can gently  wiggle the cable while it's on and see if it changes.

Good day. I purchased a manufacturer refurbished ThinkPad X220t  with warranty for one year. The laptop came with a factory seal. When I turn on a notebook,  the operating system(win 7 Prof 64bit) automatically install. At the end of installation in device manager  all devices have been identified and worked fine.  But in computer details in the "system" was written ?No Pen or Touch Input is available for this display?. Then I installed all the drivers on a laptop from Lenovo website again and again. That did not help. Then I reinstalled windows (win 7 Prof 32bit). That did not help. Previously, I had two X200t and when I installed windows 7, the digitizer immediately was detected, for the good work of  the touchscreen it was necessary to install drivers. But the situation with the X220 for me incomprehensible. Explain what I did wrong. The type of ThinkPad printed on the back label is 4294-CTR(in BIOS the type is 4294-CTO).

I have a Lumia 520 that had a small dink on the upper right hand corner with the tiniest crack on it. I was using it like I do normally, and then 5 minutes after I put it in my pocket, a long crack is diagonally across my screen. Bearing in mind this had a case on, I was wondering what caused that crack to grow so big. It's rendered the bottom half of the crack of touchscreen unusable and I don't have the money to repair or replace it. So what should I do?

Answer:Nokia Lumia 520 unorthodox screen crack?

Well, it was chipped, once you damage glass to the point of cracking/chipping, the glass will crack along the grain very easily, more than likely you flexed it a bit while it was in your pocket and under the stress the crack worked its way down, the only thing you can do is replace the glass or buy a new phone.

Hi, I recently purchased a lenovo yoga 13 through lenovo and unfortunately, as mentioned in the title, the screen has been comprimised. What occured is the following: the computer was in my backpack in my car for a couple of hours in a cold environment (Seattle WA) and when I pulled it out at my friends house and opened the lid my desktop popped up and no more than 2-4 seconds later the screen cracked. In addition the touch feature of the screen is no longer working. I am racking my brain trying to think of what caused this but right now I am leaning towards a rapid temperature shift.  So as noted in the title, I am looking for some advice on what to do next. Will this be covered under warrenty? If not how much would a replacement screen cost? I can submit pictures if supplemental. Thanks.

Answer:looking for consulting on Lenovo Yoga 13 screen crack

Hello mricci, As long as it is not customer induced damage, the screen is replaceable under your warranty. I do not believe changes in temperature would be considered CID. In other words, as long as you didn't drop it or throw it, it should be replaceable. I would contact the Ideapad Support line and schedule a repair for it. Keep in mind for future references that when a computer is exposed to temperatures coler than 32 F, the liquid in the lcd can freeze up when that happens. To warm up the computer, it must be exposed little by little to a warmer temperature to avoid damage to the screen and condensation to it's internal hardware. Hope that helps.

Answer:Dropped Laptop, Flex-2 15, screen won't go back together/broken digitizer

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

I'm not an owner of your model, but it would appear to me if the screen is not snapping back into place there might be something misaligned or possibly a broken piece of plastic preventing it.  To correct the problem you might have to do a little disassembly to find the cause.

For your reference I have listed below links to your model's Hardware Maintenance Manual and a Lenovo Training video series.  You might find that information useful in trying to correct the problem

For some time ago i installed a Archicad-crack on my computer (Windows Vista, Inspiron 9400 laptop). I found it on thepiratebay.org though in the comments some people said that they had found a trojan in a file called "setup.exe". But in the guide that the uploader had wrote you were supposed to delete that file and install another setup.exe, so i decided to install it and make a reboot afterwards if something went wrong (it was stupid but i was desperate for that program atm).

So after i used the program a day or so my computers fan?(is it called so?, you know the breezing thing that cools the computer) starts and the CPU went up to 100% without any process taking all that power. And some seconds later half my screen gets filled up with like flimmering lines (from the bottom of the screen to abit over the middle). So i used Search and Destroy Spybot though it didnt go away so i rebooted my computer. And now a day or so after the reboot the virus/trojan starts again!!!

Now when the virus/trojan is so deep in my computer that even a reboot cant get it away, do i have to turn it in to some technician or is there anything for me to do? Oh and after the reboot the CPU doesent go all the way to 100% but it still slows the computer down!

Thanks for any tips or answers!

Hi, I just notice now I have a crack on the screen on my gf's x220t. She and I NEVER droped it, NEVER put pressure on the screen, NEVER put any sort of heavy objects on the laptop.  The crack is small (about 1 cm), very thin, it's hard to see but can be felt very easy when using the digitizer. Her computer also gets alot of thermal sensor failure at the begining of the boot (which can be fix by removing the battery and going into the BIOS). Can I get some help from lenovo STAFF on this. This is a 1300$ laptop. Please be resonable and don't tell me I've used it too hard. There could be a way to verify that the laptop didnt go through severe conditions and that it's a default in fabrication... Otherwise lenovos screen are made out of very cheap material. We both have a model 4294CTO x220 tablet I also made a quick video which can be found on this URL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXOfVnAcYQY  Moderator Note: Edited subject to match content.

Answer:x220 tablet scratch/crack (about 1 cm, very thin) on the screen

this forum doesn't have a dedicated staff to personally troubleshoot issues.   everyone here (staff included) is here purely on a volunteer basis.   first and foremost this is a peer-to-peer forum.

with that said...

unless you have the gorilla glass model (non-multitouch), your X220T's display is polycarbonate.   based on your video, it looks like it could be a scratch in the writing surface rather than a crack, especially being along the horizontal plane and parallel with the pixel grid.   cracks tend to be more random where scratches happen most often along the X or Y plane.

Hello

I bought a Toshiba Equium A200-15I laptop about 15 months ago, and I am not sure whether it is under any kind of guarantee or not.

A few weeks ago, I tried to turn on the laptop but a crack had suddenly appeared in the screen and the display was damaged. It appears as if the crack is internal, since I can't feel anything on the screen's surface.

I am wondering how it is possible to find out whether the laptop is under guarantee or not, and if not, whether it is possible to repair the problem.

Many thanks,
Ken

Answer:Re: Equium A200-15I - crack appeared suddenly in the screen

Hi

That?s pity dude?

I?m afraid such issue could not be covered by warranty.
Such cracks cannot appear without any reason?
I think something has affected the display and led to this crack?

Anyway, you could simply ask an ASP technician in your country for details and further handling but I doubt the warranty would cover the replacement.

I have a HP Pavilion m6 1045-dx. The rear casing of the screen was the first issue, as it began to become unattached, as you can see here:

I did not take care of this right away, so now the problem has only gotten worse so that now a part of the front bezel around the screen is cracked and the LCD is that same area. This is all due to stress closing/opening the lid, because since that panel on the back case of the screen began rising it is putting pressure on that area of the screen causing more damage.

Needless to say, it is probably time to fix this. In addition to the screen problems my built-in webcam/mic is not working, possibly because is goes through the screen and has become disconnected or something.

I have attached a couple more photos to show the damage. As far as the LCD goes, I know the only thing I can do is replace it. I am wondering about using some epoxy on the back screen to repair it, and also to seal the crack in the front screen bezel, or possibly replace it.
If I end up replacing the screen case (back) and bezel (front) plus the LCD screen itself should I be worried about the webcam and wireless antennas in the screen?
Also, out of warranty and in addition to all the parts charges they would charge me labor as well looking at around $300 USD so I opted to not go for that.

Long lasting epoxy suggestions?

Answer:HP Pavilion m6 Stress crack on screen bezel, casing, and LCD

Hello bensonmojo. Welcome to the Forum.

The wire that connects to the webcam is snaked around the outside edge of the bezel, behind the display screen. Very possible the wire is severed or frayed.

You will need to replace the outer lid cover, the bezel, and the display.
The display screen is attached to 2 thin steel rails which double as the hinge for the lid. The only structural protection for the screen is the lid cover. The bezel is little more than decorative, but protects the wiring. So not replacing any of these parts would be foolish.

Good place for replacement screens in N. America:
LAPTOP SCREEN from $34.99, replacement LCD screens. Repair Tablet, Acer, Apple, iPhone, iPad, Samsung, Dell, HP Compaq, Toshiba, IBM Lenovo, Sony, Asus, Gateway.
Be sure to watch a video on replacing a screen.

As for the cover and bezel, look for a non-working laptop of the same model line on Ebay and cannibalize it for parts.

I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon and take very good  care of it and keep it in a laptop bag with padding. Today I used it, closed the lid and put it back in my bag. When I went home and wanted to use is I took it out of the laptop bag and opened up the lid and there was a black block at the top left of the screen.  I noticed a crack but is in the inside of the screen and not on the outside and I can't feel anything with my finger or I can't see any scratch or mark. There is a vertical pixelated line from the top of the bottom of the screen. The only thing I can think that could have caused is was when i opened the lid I used the top left corner to  open the screen. All I can think of is that because the lid is so thin and  flexible putting pressure on one part of the lid caused the problem. If there is zero external damage cause will the warranty cover fixing the screen?

Answer:Thinkpad X1 Carbon has internal screen crack from opening lid

I always tell people that it is best to use 2 hands or, at least, to open from the center.  I agree that the lid is thin and flexible.  I suggest taking it to a dealer and talking to a person.  With screen problems, it is best if both parties are looking at the same thing.

I have a X201 Tablet had always worked well.Yesterday suddenly the screen became completely black.I connected to the external LCD monitor and the computer works perfectly. But the internal monitor not. At least as a monitor.I can not see anything in the screen not even in backlight. But I can use the digitizer on screen... Namely if I touch the screen with the pen it makes me mouse. It seems strange because I was convinced it was a matter of cables. What can it be?Should be the illuminator? I think not, because in this case should be seen vaguely. Is that correct? Then I thought, or the display itself or cables that connect to the main board?I opened but everything seems to be ok. What is more likely is.I would like to understand it before you buy spare parts useless. How can I test which of the components is?I hope someone can help me,Thanks in advance

When I open the laptop there is a cracking sound on the right hinge. The cover to the left hinge broke partially off and that side isn't loose or anything. The right side though has always had the cover over the hinge and had made a cracking sound for a while now (about 3 months). The hinge didn't feel loose and there was no affect on the screen or performance in anyway. The screen starts up as it should and the touch screen is working. Problem is now it IS getting loose. The screen seems to also be popping out of the laptop cover? Or shell I guess? Not sure if that is the right way to describe it....the screen is detaching from it's backing. I really think it's the cover over the hinge that is causing the hinge/monitor to not open right. Any suggestions for a do it myself fix?

Well i am new to this forum and when i was looking for ?Lenovo customer service? on Google, i realised that there are many people in the same boat as me.Well i never imagined this to happen to me, but the fact is it has happened. I purchased a new ?LENOVO G550 DC-T4500? which is a new laptop by Lenovo at a very low price. Well i had a low budget and was thinking of getting a small netbook, but then I saw this Lenovo ad at center.com and went and purchased it from them on 11th November 2010. I got the laptop in my office and kept it there for a week. Finally after 7 days i took it home. I did not use it instantly because I had to setup many things like Microsoft office etc and just didn?t get the time to do that. Finally after 7 days I opened it up and installed Microsoft office. I used it for like 2 hours. The next day i opened the laptop and then was trying to set the internet, and after an hour the laptop screen went blank. I did not use it even for 4 complete hours. I gave it back to center.com and they asked me whether i dropped it. Well the fact is i never dropped it. It was used just like for four hours in total. I don?t have kids or pets in my house. I stay with my husband and we both are old enough to handle laptops. Well this crack was not an external crack on the screen but an internal crack on the LCD screen. Now isn?t that weird that there is no crack on the laptop but a cack developed on the LCD screen and they say that it has been dropped. Now i do... Read more

Answer:LENOVO G550 DC-T4500 Tragedy, Internal crack on LCD screen

first let me say that I am in know way implying that you broke your screen but you can crack the LCD screen without causing damage to the case you can set something on it and cause a pressure crack pressure from your fingers can crack it  as for internal external it appears to be internal because the clear plastic on the outside does not crack like glass there had to be some kind of force to crack the screen they just don't brake they go out from time to time as in no video but not crack

I am puzzled. My x220t runs criminally hot. Using speccy I have recorded temperatures in the high 80s celcius topping 90 once when it is chomping data or multitasking.

In fact it gets so hot at the blower end that it is uncomfortable to have on your lap for any period of time. I wonder do others  owners find their machines get that hot, especially when working on processor intensive work. Mine is an i7 with 8gb.

here is the weird bit.

I left my computer to download a lot of files and to undertake a large amount of crunching of data overnight. I left it on a chair in tablet mode. When I came down in the morning the screen had a series of cracks, which corresponds with the edge of the exhaust port. Its not a mystery, just lucky it did not go on fire.

The computer was boiling to the touch, thankfully no fire, or burnt chair.

needless to say it had crashed during the night as the lenovo recovery system was booting up.
Has anyone else experienced a really hot running machine? what about the glass cracking. It is slightly bubbled at the base of the glass.

I am worried about leaving it on to do any more work (I work for a university and tend to get the machine to crunch data at night).

Needless to say the engineers will be out on Monday to have a look at the machine.

Answer:x220t : I think my machine overheats and caused my screen to crack overnight

Can you post some picture links about the screen problem? The laptop will get hot when you push the CPU load at 100% for couple of hours. But it is not going to be hot enough to cause a crack in the LCD. Unless there is a sudden temperature change of more than 20 or 30 degrees within a second or so.

Hi guys! Please help me if you have some experience/thoughts with this weird screen issue. From day 1 (when I bought the laptop), there was a brighter triangular region in the low left corner of the screen, starting from low left corner of the screen. In this region, all the pixels were 50% brigher, but--it was a relativly small region (5mm x 5mm) in the corner of the screen (just above Win start icon), so I wasn't proactive with servicing it and just left it as it was. However, the "brightness region/crack" slowly started growing, and, month by month, now it expands from lower left corner to top middle edge. It is a very "geometrical" and triangular region, but some months ago, another independent region started forming more to the bottom center of the screen, which is more circular and doesn't have straight edges. So this has been slowly progressing for the past 2 years. I' ve finally sent the laptop for service, but the guys there said it is a "result of a liquid spill", which is like totally unacceptable for me, well since obviously a) I haven't ever spill anything over it, b) it was there from day 1, slowly growing in size -- would that happen if it is a result of a spill? It seems to me that liquid spill issues are more "organic shape" spots (more circluar, not triangular), and that they are more-or-less fixed size over time, while this one is triangular and grows with time.Obviously if this can be the result of some liquid spill, then I'll have... My laptop is less than 6 months old and it's already falling apart:

Is anyone else facing this issue or knows how to fix it?

Answer:Is anyone else facing the issue that the bottom plates crack apart when opening the screen on XPS13-9350?

My Inspiron is doing the same thing on the opposite side. A common problem that Dell refuses to recognize.
Dell support told me it was my fault.
