Preferred Solution: Computer showing wrong time

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just had a new harddrive put in, luckily my computer was under warranty. It is an HP desktop running Vista. Every so often my clock shows the wrong time... I figured out it happens everytime my computer automatically synchronizes my time.

Somehow it is synchronizing it wrong. How can I stop this?

Answer:Time is showing up wrong

Hello Barbee,

You might check to see if the Time Zone is set correctly, and check the CMOS settings in the BIOS to make sure the date, time, and time zone are set correctly there to.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Warning: the following descriptions involve time travel - you may or may not go cross-eyed. This gets complicated, so follow closely.

Windows (7, 64bit, build 7600) Explorer is showing a -6 hour difference in time from my actual file date. This is NOT simply the time difference between my computer (in Central time zone) and the server (on Eastern time). Explorer is ignoring the server's time stamp and subtracting exactly 6 hours from the time of the what the server should say. I know this because I'm also looking at the exact same folder and files using XP and the time stamps are exactly as they should be. I modified a file locally (on W7) and copied it up to the server. The time stamp local is 9:36a. The time stamp on the server should be 10:36a, but instead it says 4:36a. So, I copied a file from the server back to here and it reports locally 6 hours later (10:38a) than what is on the server (4:38a). Looking at the exact same files through explorer on XP shows that the time should have been 10:38a.

If it wasn't for time showing correctly on XP, I'd assume it was a problem at the server, but there seems to be something in either the display of time, or in the way it sends the file's time-stamp.

And now I'm testing it on another ftp server, which I think has their time set to UTC (my 10:00a is their 4:00p). Using XP, I create a brand new file locally, and transmit it to this server. It initially appears with the same timestamp as the original file (10:16a). I t... Read more

This isn't stricktly "installation and setup" I don't think, but I can't find anywhere else it fits either, so hopefully it is OK here.

I have made a couple of system images using W7's own native system image creator, but they automatically identify themselves with the wrong time and date. My OS clock is correct and my BIOS clock is correct AFAIK (i.e. going into the pre-boot settings where you can shuffle up the boot order and checking it in there) but my images are created showing that one made at 14.00 was made at 3.40am if using the disc and searching for a system image to restore from, and if I go into the backup and restore centre within W7 it tells me the most recent system image was made at 12.40!

It also puts them all in a folder with today's date, I had a heart attack thinking it had overwritten my previous backup despite saying that would not happen on an external hard drive (but would on a network) but when I go into the startup repair booting from the disc it does indeed offer me both options, albeit with strange times on them. Is that normal and is there a way I can force it to place each image in a separate folder without that complicating the restore process?

Oh, as an aside the "create a system repair disc" thing doesn't work for me, nor did it ever work when I had Vista. I can write the disc, it simply doesn't boot. Not too annoying because the installation DVD has the same tools on it, but just another part of the process that is n... Read more

This is not a huge problem but is actually pretty annoying.
I am using a Vostro 5460 LAPTOP but the "support for Vostro 5460" page shows a picture of a desktop PC. When I check out the "Manuals & documents", for example, it turns out Dell Support identified the laptop as a "Dell Vostro 24 - 5460" (a desktop model I guess?).
For your information, the service tag and express service code shown in Dell Support is correct for my laptop. Not sure why it shows as a desktop. PLEASE FIX.

Asus laptop, Windows 10.

My settings all appear to be right but all of a sudden my computer says it is 10:52 PM when it really is 9:52 EDT (Gainesville FL), yes it does say to detect daylight savings time. I rebooted, no luck.

Help please... Bob

Answer:My computer has the wrong time!!

Hi Bob, welcome to the Ten Forums.

Sounds strange, especially thinking that EST is one hour less than EDT, not one hour more. When your current time is 9:52 PM EDT but the PC thinks it's EST, it would show 8:52 PM, not 10:52.

Check if you have time zone set automatically, if not set it:

If you for any reason do not want to set time zone automatically, be sure the set the correct time zone:

The time is wrong on my computer and when I try update the time is gives me a message that says "an error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with time.windows.com" I tried to change the server but each one will not work.

Any suggestions?

Answer:Wrong Time On My Computer

Well...the time could be wrong because you need a new CMOS battery. The CMOS battery affects the system clock, which affects the time displayed onscreen. As for sychronizing...that may not be possible if the CMOS battery is weak/dead.I just successfully synched this system using time.windows.com as the server.LouisCMOS Battery Replacement - http://www.liverepair.com/encyclopedia/art...cmosreplace.asp

So before I get started, a bit of background knowledge -
- Im 15 and know essentially nothing to do with computers.
- Ive had this computer since I was about 11.
- I have a genuine copy of windows.
Around 12th December 2016, I was stupid and thought Id download a random file off of the internet. It turns out, this random file gave me a bleep ton of adware and I instantly panicked. My dad would kill me if he found out I did this, so Im hoping its nothing to do with this. Im pretty sure it was just adware, but just adding it in for the possibility. I rebooted into safe mode, deleted the files, stopped them for starting at start up and it was fixed (I hope). I had two unrecognised names in my task manager; vnlgp.exe and gpylra.exe.
Fast forward to maybe spring time 2017 (could even be closer to summer, I cant remeber exactly when), I started getting pop ups from window activation technologies telling me that my windows isnt genuine. As you can tell, Im kind of an idiot so I just ignored it hoping itd go away. I cant remember whether I did anything for this to happen, but Im pretty sure I didnt. Shortly before this, I had to move my computer, and when I got it back to its original position, it wouldnt shut down properly when I turned it off. Itd be stuck on the updating screen, so I had to manually turn it off. Even to this day, although it does turn off by itself, it downloads updates every time i turn it off. I'm not a fan of malware removal.  I prefer a clean install of Windows, so I know there aren't any problems.  After four years a clean install will clear out all of the trash that has accumulated over time.

We all have watches in our household and most of us use a wrist watch to know the time. Are they accurate? Which one is your reference? How do you know which one to choose as a reference clock?

Windows XP has built-in time synchronising software and updates the clock on a weekly basis automatically or manually when you need to have the accurate time display. This is one clock which can be a reference in household. For accuracy the computer clock can be linked to the atomic clock and have the same updated on a regular interval and all the other clocks can use your computer clock as reference.

Unfortunately the Windows system is too busy and at times is a hindrance to the onboard clock and renders it inaccurate without your knowing about it.

If you are looking for accurate time there is no better FREE software than the Dimension 4. It is far more powerful and customisable than the bundled software which came with your Windows XP Operating System. It corrects the computer clock at an interval as frequently as 15 minutes if you so desire without any input from your side. This gives you the most accurate time as an ordinary user. It also senses if you are online and would not pop up to irritate you when the computer is offline. This is the default behaviour of the software. It just quietly sits in the sys tray and does its job. It also does not consume too much of resources, just 500k of your ram to do its job. By hovering the mouse on the icon in sys tray you ... The best thing to do is download bluescreenviewer and run it. The main cause of the problem should show up in the first few lines.

It could be the graphics card is overheating but that usually results in a different blue screen. If the cpu is overheating, the system doesn't usually blue screen. It wouldn't hurt to check to make sure all the vents and fans are clean.

Shortly after I pressed the Power button for the first time on my brand new Windows 8 laptop, I was brought to the screen where I set my time zone. I changed the default - Pacific Time - to my time zone - Eastern Time - and continued setting up my computer. Not long after, I realized that the time shown on my computer was wrong, and when I checked I discovered that the time zone had reverted to Pacific Time.

The problem is: I cannot change the time zone! (Yes, I am an Administrator.) Whether I do it from the Start Screen or the desktop, the time zone always reverts to Pacific Time. I even tried running tzutil from an elevated command prompt - the time zone will not change.

How can I change the time zone to Eastern Time?

But if I start the computer the next day, the time is wrong again. I have found some information in Google. It's critical that my PC keeps the exact time as I record TV shows on it so just a few seconds off one way or the other will make me miss the start or end of my shows.

I found it was drifting off too much between syncs so I found a program that lets me set it to sync daily, however it seems like most of the time it gets the time completely wrong, often as much as 30-90 seconds off. I did notice that when syncing manually in the time settings it normally gets the right time each time, so I don't know why the scheduled syncs get the wrong time.

I did try several of the time servers with the same results.

Is there just no way to get the Windows time sync to work properly and if not are there free third party programs that can do it reliably?

Thanks

Hello. Here is my issue short and sweet.

When I use ANY of the web based emails (Yahoo, Gmail, Comcast) on computer A, all of my emails are stamped an hour earlier than real time. By real time, I mean the clock on the computer AND the analog tick-tock clock on my kitchen wall. Both display the correct time accurately.

When I use ANY of the web based emails (Yahoo, Gmail, Comcast) on computer B (or C or D), all of my emails are stamped with real/correct time that matches my kitchen and computer. These computers ALSO reflect correct time.

With either computer, any file created or saved has a date and time stamp that is correct and reflects real time. Whether saved with a web app, a windows app or a cmd line app.

On all computers my time zone is set correctly. The "adjust for DST" box is checked. I also ran TZEDIT to confirm that my DST dates are correct.

One revelation (and I believe herein lies the key). If I look on computer A at the bottom of the "Date and Time Properties box: the current time zone says : Eastern *STANDARD* time. If I look at computers B, C or D. The "Date and Time Properties box says: current time zone: Eastern *DAYLIGHT* time. I can not find any way to change the "STANDARD" to "DAYLIGHT".

Now for the big question. How is this resolved?

Thank you.

Answer:Satellite Pro M30 - real time clock shows a wrong time

Hi Reinhard

I agree with you. It is time to replace CMOS battery. It is not easy and the unit must be disassembled. If you are not familiar with disassembling procedure it can be dangerous. A small mistake can result with hardware damaging.

If you want to do it alone you will do it on your own risk. Be sure that you use the right battery. Maybe you will not believe me but if you use wrong battery it could cause the battery explosion or other damage.

I am not 100% sure but the RTC battery must be placed on the left side near the touch pad. If you want to make it alone please be very gently. The notebook parts are very sensible.

Every boot my computer's clock is 7 hours fast.
The time zone is correctly set to UTC -08:00
I have set it to synchronize with time.windows.com as well as time.nist.com, to similar results.

When clicking the "update now" button I get the error: "An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with time.foo.com. This operation returned because the timeout period expired."

(and with traditional Microsoft incompetence this error message was placed in the actual dialog, so no copy and paste! I get to type everything out!)

Clicking it again successfully synchronizes it.

I DO NOT want to do this every damn boot, as it requires clicking through 5 separate dialogs. What the hell is up here?

Answer:time wrong, while time zone is correct.

"An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with time.foo.com. This operation returned because the timeout period expired."

"time.foo.com" returns a message that it does not exist when pasted into the URL box [Address box]. One thing usually necessary is to enter the BIOS Setup during the bootup and set the time correctly. Then I sometimes find it necessary to go into Settings and turn Off the automatic check and set of the time.

I know this question as been asked previously in the forum, but I have had no joy in locating the answer. So here's hoping that someone can refresh my memory.AMD Cpu purchased as a 2400, but in running mode checks, it now shows as 'AMD Unknown CPU Type' with a running speed of only 1793MHz.What is the reason for this, and how can the problem be corrected, as it doe's appear to effect the performance of the computer.

Answer:AMD Cpu showing wrong speed

I beleive that 1793 is about right clock speed for the 2400+ processor.Try click here SIW and see what it says.

Hi,

Firstly, I changed all my settings in my bios to AHCI and my Jmicron controller 363 to AHCI + IDE. Now, my DVD drive won't show up in my device manager and there are multiple controllers under IDE ATA/ATAPI that weren't there before. Any ideas on how I can get the DVD drive to work under SATA and fix the multiple channels under the IDE ATA controllers?

Thanks. The pic is below.

The name showing up in the start menu is wrong. I changed the name in my hotmail/outlook/msn account quite awhile back, before I even got this computer. But the name showing up on the computer is the old one. How can I make it correct and show the changed name?

Answer:Wrong name showing in start menu

Hello pancake,

That would be correct then. The original user name will always be used in places like this.

The only true way to fully change your user name is to create a new account on the PC with the name you wanted instead.

I have tried to drag it over and close it, or try to click print on the primary monitor. No matter what I have tried it keeps showing up on the 2nd monitor. I am just curious if anyone has any ideas as to how to get it over to the primary monitor and make it show up there all the time.

Thanks.

Answer:Win 7 showing wrong network icon

Why is it a wrong icon? If you don't have anything plugged into the ethernet port, then it's by definition disconnected. If it really bothers you, hide the icon or disable the interface.

And seriously, don't fucking bump your post after 30 minutes for a ridiculously trivial issue. You'd expect with 10 years experience on these forums that you'd have better sense.

I was using windows vista built in burning software. This all stop working after I copy an paste folder to other folder on the disc .

I than tried Nero 9 the basic burning software and when in Nero burning software I click on analyze disc it shows 5 sessions and 337MB used and that is about right .I than tried to make copy of bad disc .When I click copy disc it copies it and than tells me to put in new disc and copies to it but it is still not showing up when I click on start , computer ,DVD drive .

I have a 74gb raptor that i use for windows and games. When i goto my computer..select C: and hit properties it tells me i have 50GB used (49.8gb) yet in the drive view its only telling me i have 6gb free. I tried installing a game and it gave me disk full. I was shocked because i have had 4-10 decent sized games on this drive before , but right now all i have if battlefield 2142 and WOW.

I've done searches on yahoo and such , peole with same problem get the answer , U know 1gb doesnt mean 1,000,000,000bytes, on a 100gb drive you may only get 92gb . i understand that part but i am missing roughly 23gb of space i cant account for. I have show hidden files and folders on too.

any help?

Answer:HD showing wrong space free

Badkitty, this sounds to me like your system restore feature is utilizing a lot of space...I often see this on some client vista machines..and XP as well. Can you verify? Try turning off system restore to see if it will give you all that space back...A warning though this will erase all your restore points so it is your call You can then turn back on if that is what it was..will start building points again.

this isnt major... but annoying.

i have lost my jpeg logos they just show up in my folders as the standard windows logo for anything windows doesnt know what it is.
they are saved as jpgs, and open perfectly fine but i am really annoyed about it. please help.

i have just tried saving as other formats and none of them have a logo except bitmap

thanks

Answer:jpeg logo showing wrong

Which Windows version?

This is for XP but should be similar for the other win versions, try this right click the image icon and choose Properties.. does it say next to type of file does it say JPEG? and underneath next to Opens With what does it say?

what you could try is right click the file and choose Open With then Choose Program ... then from the list choose Windows Picture and Fax Viewer ... tick the "always use selected program to open...." with box at the bottom and click apply.

if its anything to do with assigning an icon to that file type then I will have to continue this when I get home, unless someone else carries on.

not sure if the above is the right way to put this but on boot up the system says my processor is an amd 1245 mhz i know this is wrong because when i had a crash earlier last year the friend who fixed it for me bought a 2.2 ghz which was recognised by the system initially but some months later after a seperate issue where i got a bad checksum error i selected load defaults and carry on ( i think this is when it happened), just ran everest for another problem and that states the same processor type, my question is am i losing anything by the system being like this and if so how can i correct it easily?johnny.

Answer:pc showing wrong processor speed

only a guess with this one...but I would check the BIOS settings...maybe something there has been corrupt...perhaps making it go faster has done something to it...get in touch with your friend and see what he says...

I recently upgraded to Windows 7, and in Xp my overclock showed correctly. As 333X10.5=3500 but even though my bios settings are still the same and all c1e is turned off, windows 7 is showing that i have 266x10.5=2800. cpu-z shows this aswell, including asus utility (every program i've tried has said the same)

Any ideas as to why windows 7 shows this? and is windows 7 really underclocking my system? or is this just windows 7 showing inaccurately?

Answer:Windows 7 showing wrong CPU speed.

Don't forget to turn off both C1E halt state and also "speed step", unless the bios settings were messed with that should work. But in most cases and if you aren't overclocking those settings can save power and are very useful.

Make sure you aren't using one of those lame Windows overclock utilities because they will mess with your bios settings big time.

Answer:DVD burning gone wrong now disc showing nothing

Burning multiple sessions to a DVD-R disk is most likely the problem. (Ideally, you should be using an external hard drive to backup) You should use DVD-RW, rewritable, disks and just burn everything in one session, close the disk; then move onto next DVD-RW, burn everything, close disk. continue this until you are back to the original disk in a rotation, then erase the disk, and continue on.
As for why you cannot see data on the DVD-R disk, it's most likely because of the multiple sessions. On a DVD-R or +R disk you should burn once, and be done with it. You might be able to recover data with a 3rd party program, but since it's optical media my hopes are not high. Be sure to have the "show hidden files & folders" option ticked on so maybe, if the files are hidden on the DVD-R disk you might be able to see them.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I hope this helps you in the future.

In general, it is not possible to transfer an installed operating system from one computer to another, unless the hardware is near enough identical, and even then there are usually issues. Is this "new" computer supposed to be built out of brand new parts? What are the specs of the new & old computers? A thought... how trustworthy are these people? Could they have just put all your old parts in a new case?

Lumia 625, phone worked fine for a week, then suddenly lost 30% of battery overnight.
Saver App showed Internet Explorer using over 100% in the past 24 hours in the background, despite IE being denied backround running.
I performed a hard reset, after which the Saver App doesn't show usage statistics correctly. At around 80% of battery charge it still says every app has less than 1% of usage.
Lastly, on the second page it says time since last charge is 0 minutes. Sometimes this corrects itself if i reboot the phone, but then suddenly turns back to 0 again.
I did another hard reset but it's still the same. Anyone have any insight?

Answer:Why is my Battery Saver App showing the wrong statistics?

Original poster here, i just registered an account. I should add that the Data stats app was also showing wonky statistics, initially it displayed around 60 MB of mobile data use and a little bit of WLAN data, but after a reboot they were reset to zero. I doubt this is supposed to happen?

I use Google calendar for all my work and school shifts. I am also subscribed to my sister's Google calendar to see her work and school info. So whenever I bring up Cortana, she always shows my sister's meeting details before showing mine. If I bring up the details in the calendar though, it doesn't list the meeting anywhere and my sister's calendar isn't even in my list of calendar's on the side. In fact tonight, I just deleted my sister's calendar (because she made a new one for the next semester since she doesn't realize she can just keep using the one instead of making a new calendar every semester) and it is still showing meeting details for the deleted calendar.
Does anyone know how to get Cortana to stop showing meeting details for subscribed calendars and just show mine?

We work for a website, educationworld.com

and one of our editors in the room can't access the website since a couple of days ago.

her hosts file doesnt look out of the ordinary, doesnt list the wrong ip or anything..

but when she types in educationworld.com the lower left of her IE window is trying to load the ip: 209.247.79.163 (old one) and she gets "page cannot be display". It should be trying to load 69.43.199.47. Same thing when she pings educationworld.com, she gets the 209 ip. I had her flush dns, didnt work. she also cleared her cache.

I had her type in http://69.43.199.47 into IE and our home page does come up, eventually, but it takes about 10 minutes!

We cant figure out what the problem could be.

I appreciate any advice!!! I've looked everywhere

Thank you!

Please, why are you entering a URL or IP in the "lower left?" Try using the IE Addressbar instead.

Are you talking about the old Addressbar in the Taskbar? This was disabled awhile back by an MS Update due to legal issues (it is used for more than IE and that was the legal issue). I found out after installing SP3 and the Taskbar, Addressbar option disappeared altogether.

If you look at the screenshot of the Toolbars list from Taskbar, Properties w/SP3, you see that the Addressbar is no longer listed.

If you insist on having the Taskbar's Addressbar, there is a rumor that there is a fix. BUT, is it legal?

Ok, so I placed an order for a t400 about a month ago, and I recieved it a week later. However, when enter my serial number and the type of machine here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/PART-LOOKUP.html The warranty status only shows up as 1 year. The thing is, I purchased a 3 year warranty with my T400. I called customer service inquiring about this 3 weeks ago and they told me that their database just had to be updated, but now it's been a month, and warranty status hasn't changed (however, the parts have shown up). Although I'm pretty happy about my laptop in terms of build quality, the fact that I may be getting short ended here (over 200$) is something that is definitely disheartening. Another thing: the order status for my laptop still says "In Process" despite the fact that I've had my laptop for over 4 weeks - could this possibly be the reason behind warranty problem?Message Edited by Flavored on 08-12-2009 02:38 AMMessage Edited by Flavored on 08-12-2009 02:39 AM

Hi, CPU uses a technology called SpeedStep technology. It won't run its full speed if NOT required and it can bump up its normal speed when required. More information:          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpeedStep Regards.

Hi, I have a lenovo g500s. recntly, i updated all the drivers and supported programs provided by lenovo from the lenovo website. everything works just fabulously except the LSC. The LSC keeps showing warranty expired today even when i refresh it. doesn't change even when i'm connected to internet. The end date shows: 22nd september 2014. but the warranty tab on top shows expires today. The LSC version is 2.4.002 Help me out buddy. It's such a turn off when you are trying to keep your laptop error free.

Answer:LSC showing wrong warranty alert on my G500s

hi rider3764,

Welcome to the Forums.

Just to verify, when you updated LSC, did you uninstalled the old version from the Control Panel or did you let LSC overwrite the old version with the new one?

If you did the latter, consider uninstalling LSC and re-install it again to see if it fixes the warranty issue.

Lenovo Solution Center for Windows 8.1 (64-bit), 8 (64-bit), 7 (64-bit)

If the problem remains then this is most likely a bug in the LSC (which will may get fixed in later versions). You may also verify the warranty status of the machine on this link.

Regards

ok, so i just got a new laptop yesterday from ibuypower.com...its an AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile, 2.0Ghz...well, in the system properties it shows it as 803mhz...thats if i go to my computer, right click and go to properties..if i go to start, control panel and system properties through there, it shows up at 1.6Ghz...i installed a game yesterday (age of empires III) and it said requires 1.4ghz, but i only had .8ghz...well, i restarted the game and that message didnt show up...so i exited and went to my computer and then system properties...it showed it as 2.0ghz...technically, it should be 4.0ghz if its dual core tho (correct??)...i refreshed it and it went back down to 1.6ghz...whats going on there??? is there maybe a driver thats not compatible with the hardware or something??? here are my system specs:

CPU: AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-60, 2.0Ghz
RAM: 1Gb ddr2
VGA: Nvidia Geforce 7600 GO 256mb
MOBO: MSI megabook (dont kno anything else)
HDD: 60GB 7200rpm SATA 150

the model on ibuypower.com under notebooks/AMD is Battalion 101 CLX

any help is GREATLY appreciated..

Thanx,
Joe

Answer:processor showing up as wrong one in system properties???

Because you have a laptop w/ a mobile CPU (Turion) it will only draw as much power as needed.... therefore at idle and light usage you get the reading of 800mhz.... and that's why the game didn't give an error: 'cuz when the power is needed, the CPU steps up to what is needed. You can get more info about this from either AMD or from your laptop manufacturer.... if you notice that the CPU is not stepping up, check into a driver or BIOS update, but it shouldn't be necessary. Mobile CPU's are designed this way to conserve power comsumption, extend battery life, and to reduce any possible thermal/heat problems..... it won't show as 4.0ghz even if it's dual core; but it should show as two CPU's running at 2.0ghz. I've seen the dual core Intel chips do that. For detailed CPU info, download either CPU-Z, Crystal CPU, or CPUID (CBID??? It's the one for AMD's only: Central Brain Identifier.). All are free and can be found in the Processor download section right here at 'The Geeks'. Also look into AMD's power tool (also in the Processor section) and maybe AMD's Cool-n-Quiet driver/app.....

Answer:Lenovo Solution Center Showing Wrong Warranty

Hi Mayank,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

There was an initial bug in LSC where extended warranty was not accurately shown and this was addressed in version 1.1.006.  Several changes to the functionality of warranty lookup have been implemented in different versions of LSC to address other considerations.

In some cases, the Lenovo Solution Center is displaying a message, ?Unable to determine warranty?, for the System and displaying a message, ?not available?, for the Battery.

This could occur on any Lenovo system running Windows 7 or 8 and running LSC.

These will be solved in version 2.0.018 or higher of LSC.

Warranty status can be checked on the Lenovo support site at any time:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_IN/product-service/warranty-status/default.page?

Do post us back for further queries.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

I defined the custom colour as ffffc5 which is supposed to be a really pale yellow as seen here

But instead, it looks like this:
I figure it could be from Windows using ABGR instead of the RGB I used to get these colours from Paint, but how could that change the hexadecimal code I translated it to?

Hello,

Sure hope someone can help me with this. Certain desktop shortcuts created in IE-7 keep showing wrong logo -- i.e. for entirely different company! It's always the same 8 or 9 shortcuts.

Examples: My Hotmail logo appears with an Old English sort of "T" (Daily Telegraph?)...Google shows wrong company logo...All 4 shortcuts to pages on my own web site will show Bank of America logo (often after I've visited that on-line banking site). Another site shows the eBay logo!

Deleting these misbehaving shortcuts will not solve the problem. The very same "wrong" logos will appear on the newly created shortcuts.

Strangest thing is: If I put computer in Standby mode for perhaps a couple hours the lgos in question will correct themselves!

I should mention that each of the shortcuts in question will access the CORRECT site, but the wrong logos have me flummoxed!

Any help in resolving this will be most appreciated.

Answer:SOME shortcut icons intermittently showing wrong logo

you could delete iconcache.db and reboot. sometimes the cache gets corrupted.

In File Explorer, if a folder is selected in the left navigation pane, the normal behaviour is for the right pane to display sub-folders of that selected folder.

The attached screenshot shows strange behaviour.

If the library "1Documents" is selected in the left pane, there are three sub-folders: Documents, Downloads, and Downloads. (The Downloads folder with the yellow icon is an empty folder that I can't remove. It's discussed in another post.)

I would expect to see exactly the same three sub-folders in the right pane.

In fact, the entire combined contents of Documents and Downloads are shown. You can see that "Anki" is displayed twice. One instance of Anki is in the Downloads folder. The other instance is data that is used by Anki, and is in the Documents folder.

BTW: "Beyond Compare" is a data file in the Documents folder. All other visible files in the right pane are in the Downloads folder.

How can I rectify this issue so that only three folders are shown in the right pane?

Thanks.
.

Answer:Why is the right pane of File Explorer showing the wrong contents?

I assume you have been moving the location of your default Windows libraries. Have you considered, with a full copy of your data offline, resetting the location without copying your files back to c: drive. Then redoing it. Could I ask how you did the move? Did you use the Windows "Move" facilities found on the "Location" tab when you look at the library properties?

My parents have a Sony VGC-RB33GY desktop, and it comes standard with Windows Media Center Edition 2005, although it shows version 2002 under the system tool in the control panel. One of the first updated that was put in by sony was the rollup update, made in 2004, which is before the computer was even available. Why is it still displaying version 2002, even with the second rollup installed as well?

Answer:System showing wrong Media Center Edition

Well I dont know 100% why but my Xp computers say the same thing I think it is because they were designed in 2002? If you have the booklet for the o/s from sony it should say version 2002 on it too I think

When I look at the Processes tab of the Task Manager, the User Name displayed is not for my currently logged-in account ('Josh'). It is showing the User Name of the other account on this machine ('Matt'), even after I have deleted that account.

This happened after I was told to create a new Administrator account before I could create the normal account that would be 'Matt'. I create the new Admin account and named it 'Josh' then from the new admin account I created the 'Matt' account, which is a normal user account. Ever since this, the Task Manager always shows 'Matt' for processes.

Also, when I do things like install new programs and the installer asks for the first user name (a field the OS automatically fills with the User Name for the current account) it autofills with 'Matt'.

I've no idea why Windows is doing this, and I'm asking if there is anything I can do to fix it. If no one knows why it's doing this but can provide me with a fix then I'll be perfectly happy.

Thanks.

Using Windows 8 and Nvidia GTX660.
Using a windows 'theme' as desktop
Sometimes on my desktop I see small random rectangles or squares of the wrong colour displayed. I can't work out at what stage they appear, but I can easily get rid of them by switching to another theme and then immediately returning to the original.
This doesn't happen anywhere else but on the Windows desktop.
However, I have a need to know what is causing this, in case I need to have a component replaced on warranty.
Any suggestions?

I have a Lenovo T520 Laptop Running Win 10 Pro Verssion 1511 OS Build 10586.633. The problem I'm having is that in the status bar, the icon showing the internet connection has the good old yellow triangle and when I hover my cursor over the icon it says "NO INTERNET CONNECTION" yet if I click on my browser it goes right to the internet. I have no idea as to why this is happening. Can anyone help with this? Thanks.

Answer:Wrong indication in taskbar showing no internet connection

Do you connect to the internet with an Ethernet cable or with WiFi?
Go to Start/Search and type ncpa.cpl and press enter. Which connection is saying No Internet Connection? the Local Area Connection or Wireless?
