Suddenly unable to Browse Internet with Edge

Question: Suddenly unable to Browse Internet with Edge

Having been "upgraded" to Windows 10 some weeks ago, I was managing to get it to behave (more or less). On 9 November I received another update. Since then I have been unable to Browse any sites on my Dell N7010 laptop - they all come back with {site name} Not Responding. My Thunderbird email is working fine from the laptop and I can also browse with no problems from my Android tablet, using the same router.
Have tried clearing laptop cache and history etc and have also done a System File Scan with no errors reported.
I don't have any other browsers on the laptop to try.
Very grateful for any help or advice.
Thank you

Preferred Solution: Suddenly unable to Browse Internet with Edge

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello there and thank you for taking the time to view my post. About two weeks ago I was suddenly unable to connect to the internet despite having a full wireless connection. I am using an 802.11n WLAN USB card which checks out fine in device manager. Naturally I ran Spybot and Malwarebytes to check for a virus, they discovered a few things but nothing particularly sinister.

Then I checked windows firewall to see if the problem lied there. But when trying to access the firewall I would get the error 0x8007042c restricting me from accessing it in any way. I tried a system restore and sfc/scannow command prompt to no avail. I also tried Microsoft's official solution to this problem with no success.

Answer:Suddenly can't browse internet WIN 8

Hello there and thanks for taking the time to view my question. About two weeks ago I suddenly was unable to browse the internet. Despite being connected with a full connection bar. Naturally I scanned for malware using malwarebytes and spybot, which only found a few minor things.
It was at this point that I thought about checking windows firewall for any problems. But whenever I tried to change any settings I got an error code 0x8007042c and was unable to proceed further. I tried activating it manually through services but encountered the same problem.

Hello,

I'm quite a newbie when it comes to networking and internet stuff, and I would like to ask the experts here for advice about a problem I got recently:

I use a WindowsXP SP2 computer, and I connect to the internet via a modem on the LAN. A router is also connected to my computer and another one in the living room so that we can share a connection. The other computer runs win2k.

I've been having internet problems for a while now, but they alway disappeared when I turned the modem off and then back on. However, a few days ago, I started being unable to browse suddenly after a few minutes of surfing, although I'm still connected to the ISP. I went to my network connections, disabled and enabled the Local Area Connection, and suddenly it worked again, but only for a few minutes. In order to be able to browse the net continuously, I had to disable and enable the LAN every 2 minutes or so, and it gets incredibly annoying.

Whenever I am unable to browse (I'm still connected) and I try to repair my local area connection, the window is never able to get past 'renewing IP address'.

I have phoned my ISP and they don't know what's going on, especially since the other computer is still able to connect properly. I have also tried the winsock fix, IPconfig /flushdns, /release, /renew and a system restore, and the problem is still there.
I appreciate any help I could get on this matter.

My husband & I try to remotely support his father's HP desktop. In the last month or so he can get email, TeamViewer for remote access works fine we can ping websites by name and IP but cannot browse to them by name or IP. We have done all the things recommended on MS site for Fix Network Connection (Fix network connection issues - Windows Help
) but nothing has worked so far.

We have reset router and cable modem, verified network drivers, flushed DNS, verified browser DNS settings. This computer is hardwired, other computer on wifi on same network works fine.

We are 5 hours away. We made a generic "recovery drive" on a flash drive and sent it to him but usb keyboard and mouse won't work for him to use that option. Tried ps2 mouse, won't work. We don't know where to go next. Keep in mind, my FIL is 88 years old so help from his end is negligible at best.

Initially ran Network troubleshooter few times with no errors found. Now it gives Missing Protocol, says it fixes it, but doesn't.

On my laptop, I am connected to the internet, and can access MSN Live messenger (and hold conversations with people). However, if I try to access any webpages it comes up as page not displayed, and the diagnosis comes up as having no problems. I have tried accessing Google Chrome, error message reads:Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET). I have also tried accessing Safari, error reads 'unknown error (kCFErrorDomainWinSock:10054), and also windows explorer, which has no error code. I really dont understand how how I am coming up as connected, and able to access MSN Messenger, but nothing else?? My work laptop, and flatmates laptop are both working fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Answer:Unable to browse internet after SP2

Do you have a firewall installed? It may be blocking internet access and need to be configured. SP2 enables the built in firewall by default which may be conflicting with a one you already had installed.

Hey Guys,
Here is the situation.....my home network consists of 4 PCs connected via my Linksys router which is in turn connected to my cable modem. Now after a year of no troubles all of a sudden no computer on the network was able to use an internet related apps. I contacted Linksys tech support and they informed me that most likely my cable modem service provider had blocked the router's MAC address to prevent SOHOs being setup in homes. So the tech support guy walked me through changing the MAC address of the router to the PC in my room. After some testing with the PC and router (remember they now both share the same MAC address) I was able to connect to my service via my router.....Great news right? Well......now all the other PCs are unable to browse the internet using IE, Netscape, Opera ....etc
but the odd thing is that all the PCs are still able to ping each other, the service providers DNS servers and any external websites like yahoo.com and lycos.com but they cant browse any web pages except of course for the one PC sharing the same MAC address with the router which is having no problems.
I cant help but wonder if having the router share a MAC address with a PC on the same network is causing this problem.

Network consists of:

2 Windows 2000 Professional (one of these machines is working fine)
1 Windows 2000 Advanced Server
1 Windows 98
Linksys 6 port router
No firewalls installed at the moment.

Error message states : "Page cannot be displayed"... Read more

Hi everyone...My normal computer has a problem!I am unable to browse any websites from internet explorer. I get the 'page cannot be found' error message for whatever site I try to go to. I can access the rest of my home network and I can ping my router successfuly.I have recently had some virus and spyware activity on the computer which I cleaned with PC Cillin, Ad-Aware and HijackThis. Just before the current problem I had a blank icon (grey space) in the task bar system tray. When I hovered the mouse over it a box said something like 'asterix system tray icon...right click me'. Right clicking did nothing. I got rid of this by removing what looked like dodgy registry settings in HijackThis. So I don't know if I deleted anything important to internet explorer in the registry or if this is coincidence. Unfortunately I did not take notes during the process. Most things like this turn up a search on google but this one has me miffed.I have uninstalled internet explorer (v6) and reinstalled from the disk (v5) and it still doesn't work. Next step, failing a solution will be to format and reinstall :(Is anybody able to offer some info? Or possibly point me to a registry fixer? Many Thanks.

Hey everybody, i found this forum and browsed around a bit and it seems theres a lot of smart computer guys here, so hopefully someone can help me! A couple weeks ago for some reason i could no longer use the internet explorer i had always used to browse the internet, and also couldnt use google chrome browser that i also sometimes used. Then i noticed an Internet Explorer 64-bit option on my computer (never knew what it was) so i opened that and now i can browse the internet with that. But, i cant view any videos on youtube and a lot of the webpages are limited in what it will show me, and seems very slow. Do i have a firewall issue or something? I'm really confused as to why this happened, and I'm just stumped as to what to do. Thanks in advance for anybody that can get me going in the right direction, help is much appreciated!

I am using a Dell Latitude E6400 Laptop and have been wirelessly connected to our home internet for several years without any problems. However, of late I have been having problems browsing despite my connection being OK and signal being very good. I am able to still listen to music on spotify, as well as chat on facebook, but cannot load web pages or search for anything on youtube/google etc. I use google chrome but experience the same problem on IE.

I have checked whether it is a problem with malware and have removed all threats, but still the problem persists. the only way I have found of temporarily fixing it is disabling the wireless and reconnecting, whereby it will work perfectly again for anything between 5-50 minutes.

I have not changed my router recently so do not think that is the issue. I'm beginning it may just be a hardware fault with the laptop!

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Right, so when I got home this evening, I was looking forward to some relaxed surfing and checking on my mail and such, but as you've guessed, that didn't happen.

Basically, the problem is as follows, I am able to get an adress from my router, I am able to ping inside and outside the network, the rest of my family's computers, including the laptop I'm writing this on, works. I am, however, unable to connect to applications and surf the web, msn cannot log on and Firefox and Iexplorer gives blank pages with "cancelled connections". I once during the evening managed to log on to msn but not initiate any new connections.

Routerrelated lookups; I've tested two different cables from two different interfaces on the router which on switch resulted in working for 2 seconds, and same on switching back, checked settings on the router if it was blocking or such. Also tried powering it on and off.

I am finding this problem to be a bit of a puzzler, I have 3 pc's networked together and connected to the internet through a switch and then to a BTrouter, all connected via Ethernet cabling. None will connect to any page using IE10, one has google chrome that will open google, do a search if I type in a subject but if I try to open one of the found pages it won't open them, if I type in a website address same problem.
If I go into windows Live mail it will send and receive mails, suggesting to me that internet is connected. I have ran scans with Combofix and Malwarebytes which found next to nothing and booted into safe mode but still no success. I can access the software on the routers so that connection is fine.Have rebooted router and also changed the router for a different make and still no success, both routers seem to tell me that broadband is connected.

This was all working OK some days ago and then all stopped working.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received

Answer:Unable to browse the internet Windows 7

Let's try this; using an Admin user login, get the command prompt and then enter:

ipconfig /flushdns
net stop "dns client"
Quit any existing browser, restart a browser and try Google again.
If you can run like this (btw: it will be slower to resolve the url), then we need to investigate youretc\hosts file. If you still can't surf the net correctly, we need to dig deeper.

I upgraded my OS from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate. When all was done and over, updates installed and so on I upgraded the Internet Explorer as well from IE 8 (included in the Win 7 install) to IE 9 (I used to have IE 9 before on Vista). A little bit after that I had to uninstall re-install the VPN client for my work and things started going south.
Currently after I start the computer the MSN Messenger is not working, the Yahoo messenger is not working, IE, Firefox and Chrome are not working.
IE just hangs, sometimes is displaying [<endif!>] but it seems to find the sites because I can see the icon of the page changing
Chrome is not able to connect even to google.com but it let's me down nicely (doesn't hog resources like IE does)
The Internet connection is fine because I can ping, I can connect to my work's VPN, sometimes even some https pages are briefly working.
Once I connect to the VPN everything works great.

Now comes the weird part after I connect to the VPN and disconnect, the browsers work, the IM works ... so something gets reset in that process and makes it fine but I have no idea what. (NOTE: IE9 is still barely moving - you request a page go get a snack and maybe it has loaded)

I have looked at numerous threads on different forums and I tried a lot of stuff but nothing seems to solve the problem.
I tried the netsh winsock, netsh int ... , ipconfig /flushdns, msconfig to boot in safe mode,

I even uninstalled the antiviru... Read more

I upgraded my OS from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate.Click to expand...

That's a pretty expensive upgrade. Especially considering that you didn't do it until almost three years after Windows 7 was released. Why? And from where did you purchase it?

So my question is what happens when VPN gets started that makes it possible for me to browse even after I disconnect from it?Click to expand...

Usually a VPN will block all other networking (resembles a firewall in that regard) when it is running. When you exit from it, it should stop blocking other networking. That seems to be working. Sometimes just having a VPN installed, but not in use, will cause networking trouble. So I think that your question should be, "why is my networking blocked before I use the VPN?".

Maybe some startup program that prepares for a quick start when you access the VPN? Maybe a firewall or security suite that is corrupted or mis-configured but somehow gets "fixed" by the VPN? Maybe something about just having the VPN installed that we won't be able to figure out?

error, i use a bluetooth or USB connection via my cell phone,. I can
browse internet via the same connection on my laptop but not on my
desktop, is it some virus/spyware or is it some hardware/software
settings issue? how to diagnose the problem? please help...
and yeah also suggest me any portable anti-virus that I can take from my
laptop to my desktop because there is no internet on my desktop so
can't update anything...

Answer:Connected to internet but unable to browse

Run some scans with general AV softwares, and it wouldn't harm to post a HJT log to the malware removal forum just to make sure the issue isn't malware related. If it isn't malware, try resetting the router. If this dosen't work, try disabling your network adapter and re-enabling. If none of these work, run CMD as an administrator, type in ipconfig /release, hit enter and wait. Then ipconfig /flushdns, after this, ipconfig /renew. One of these should help your problem. If not, nothing else comes to mind and I'm sorry that I cannot assist further.

EDIT: Make sure to do the CMD commands in that order, wait for them to complete each time.

Hello, I am having an issue with a computer that otherwise works fine. I am unable to browse any website via domain name or IP address, with any web browser. Things I have tried include:

Problem: Cannot connect to internet with any web browser

Notes:
- PING works, internet connectivity with other applications work
- ALL web browsers affected (even portable variants)

- Affects all network connections (wireless or ethernet, tested different wifi connections)

Process:
- Network Diagnostics: [NOT RESOLVED] [Inconclusive]
- Reset browser settings: [NOT RESOLVED]
- Driver reinstallation: [NOT RESOLVED]
- svc /scannow: [NOT RESOLVED] [No issues detected]
- Safe Mode usage: [NOT RESOLVED] [Issue persists]

This edit is to clarify, not bump, my post. I found the infections in the malware bytes log after posting: Rootkit TDSS, Rogue.RapidAntivirus.

I have been asked by a neighbor to fix their computer after update to IE8 failed. I am unsure exactly what caused tohe update to fail; I was called in at the point where clicking on the IE8 icon on the desktop would lock up the computer.

Here is what I have done prior to beginning this thread:
1-With help from Microsoft Support, I uninstalled IE8 after trying unsuccessfully to restore to a restore point prio to the update.

2-At that point, I had the PC connected to my network; it was running IE6, but would not load any web pages. Thinking it was a network issue, I took it back and installed it on their network. Same problem.

3-Thinking I had a conflict between IE and AOL 9.0, I uninstalled AOL. No change.

4-I brought it back to my network, where it is currently connected, reinstalled IE8, and configured TCP/IP like my other PC's.

5-The problem looks like a DNS problem, because I can ping any IP by address, and I can browse to Google by address. I installed Firefox; same problem.

6-Several posts regarding this problem mentioned malware as a possible cause, so I copied a Malware Bytes install file from another PC ion the network and tried to install it. It would not install until I renamed the file. Then the executable would not run until I renamed it. I had experienced this symptom previously on an infected machine, so ... Read more

I am using the broadband services of an internet provider in Quebec named Acanac-Inc. From the past few days, I am unable to access internet through WiFi. The internet is showing connected. But when we try to access a webpage it shows like "Cannot be displayed". I tried the same with a LAN cable connecting the laptop directly, and it works fine. What could be the problem behind this. If anybody knows, please share some tips to resolve this.

Hello everybody. I hope you will be able to advise me on a very irritating problem I've been experiencing with my netbook. My flatmates and I recently got Sky broadband - their laptops connect just fine to the internet and they are able to use it without any problems. Mine also connects, but I can't do things like browse or use Skype, etc.

When I go into Google Chrome, I'm told there is a DNS error that was unable to be resolved. Mozilla tells me that I have a problem with my server, and IE doesn't work either. Also, I am receiving very few packets. For every 2,000 or so packets that are sent, I only receive 2 or 6. When I click 'repair' I am told that my IP address cannot be renewed. The thing is, the internet works on my netbook at my mother's house, yet it doesn't work in my flat or other places like wifi spots.

I've tried so many things, such as clearing the DNS cache, releasing and renewing IP address, I've set the properties of the wireless connection to obtain DNS and IP automatically, I've tried pinging, I've turned off all my firewalls, I tried system restore, I've fiddled with certain keys in the registry, I even rebooted my entire hard disk last night and it still doesn't work! I'm really at my wit's end with this and I don't know what else to do. The problem is way beyond my comprehension now.

My netbook is a Toshiba NB100 which runs Windows XP. I'd greatly appreciate an... Read more

Hiya

I'm a relatively experienced Windows user, but I'm absolutely stumped by what's happened. Basically, I am able to browse the internet for about 5 minutes after I log onto windows, but after that internet activity basically stops, despite still being connected.

What happened was this. My virus-scanner (Avast!) updated yesterday and flagged around 20 files as being viruses (rootkits, to be exact), all of which were .sys files in the Windows/System32/drivers folder. I started moving them to the chest, but a few I actually deleted, thinking that they were replicating themselves as I moved them to the chest.

Well, these turned out to be pretty important drivers. I actually deleted drmkaud.sys, along with two others. As soon as I realised what I was doing, I started to click "No action" in Avast! instead, and restored as many as I could from the Chest. After restarting windows, I had some pretty serious problems due to the ones I'd deleted.

Anyway, I managed to download the files I'd deleted, but I still had some consequences - I somehow lost my boot.ini file; I started to get errors from some other programs; and of course my internet connection stops after about 5 mins.

My symptoms are very similar to these: http://forums.techguy.org/web-email/641277-solved-suddenly-cannot-browse-internet.html

I too am on a LAN, although I haven't yet tried renewing my IP each time it happens.

Would anybody have any clue as to what is wrong and ... Read more

Answer:Solved: Unable to browse the internet after about 5 mins

Oh, ok, problem solved!

For your information, this seems to be quite a widespread problem - I found someone else on a different forum who had the same problem, and they believe quite a few people had it.

Zone Alarm (I don't know whether it's just the free version or retail as well) can sometimes prevent you getting onto the next after a few minutes. There's no error message or anything, and it just prevents browsers from exploring the 'net - email and MSN etc worked absolutely fine.

So I uninstalled and reinstalled Zone Alarm and it all works!
Thanks anyway 8)

Currently I am showing that I am connected to the internet with no issues but when I open a browser or open Skype (anything requiring an internet connection) i am unable to connect. I have been looking all over the forums trying to find a solution. So far I have verified my DNS server is working ok as I can ping both the ip as well as Google in the command prompt with no issues. I have tried multiple browsers (Google Chrome, IE, and Mozilla Firefox) all with no luck. I have tried ipconfig /release and /renew with no luck. It is important to note also that I am typing this up on my laptop using the same direct connection I'm using for my PC with absolutely no issues whatsoever. I have also seen a lot of threads saying that it may be a proxy server but I triple checked in the internet options that no proxy servers were being used. After troubleshooting this for about 5 hours yesterday I decided to format my hard drive and reinstall windows 7. After completely reinstalling windows 7 I am still getting the same indications and after all this I am still unable to connect to the internet. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have a rather strange problem. The solutions mentioned in this and other forums didn't really help. When I turn my recently bought laptop on and get connected to the internet (wireless ADSL) with no issues. Later on, I couldn't find exactly what triggers it, suddenly I can not browse internet anymore- except for google sites like google.com, gmail etc. My Skype works and I can talk & use the video, I can download using utorrent. I can ping google sites, but I can't ping the modem. I can't ping the ISP. I reset the modem and the PC and sometimes it works - sometimes it doesn't??? I use LENOVO G550 with W7 Starter. I'm running clueless, please help!

hi,

i'm just a newbie and i could really use some help.

my dsl and wifi were working perfectly well until the system suddenly broke down on me 2 days ago.

i use a tenda 5M wireless broadband router model w541r, connected to a dsl service provider (pldt) and work on 2 laptops an old twinhead e12kt running windows XP, and a newer toshiba satellite m305d-s430 running windows vista.

basic problem now is that i can connect but am unable to browse (unable to resolve host) using my wifi router but am able to connect and browse with my laptop connected directly to the dsl modem.

the router is working prefectly fine however otherwise (i can connect using the router ip address and adjust router settings). my router has always been set to auto-detect settings and had been without any problems previously. i have tried releasing, renewing, and rebooting, and connecting and disconnecting my router and dsl.

after browsing some forums, i've tried fiddling with my ipconfig

here is how it looks like connected to my wifi router

Ok, so I've been trying for most of the day to fix these issues to no avail, and I've done something that's apparently made it worse. I'll do my best to include everything that might help.

Basically, my internet claims to be connected (via wire to router, computer isn't wireless enabled.) but when I open a browser (I normally use Chrome but no browser is working) it came up with the Error 105 no matter what address I try to access.

So far, I have tried resetting my router and waiting, using cmd to reset winsock and resetlog, I've fiddled with some of the proxy settings and immediate downloads. Of course, I'm not entirely certain what half of those things have done, but nothing seems to have worked properly. I've uninstalled all of the firewall/anti-virus programs I had installed, which hasn't changed anything either.

I have had the 'connected but not connected' issue before since it happens quite often, but usually I disable it, restart the computer and just connect again, then it'll work - but this time it hasn't.

I noticed in a lot of threads it helps to have the information given from ipconfig/all, so I've copied out what I get from that below.

* I've just noticed that the host name has changed to STACYSC, when it's not supposed to be. I think this is from me attempting to connect to a wireless connection before I realised it wasn't enabled - could this be an issue?

I'm on here trying to find help for my girlfriend. She has had a problem for almost a week now in which she cannot get on the internet to browse webpages. It keeps coming up with unable to find/load pages (like she has no connection). However, her connection is fine according to her computer and she is able to use msn and msn voice to talk to me. In addition, she's had some nasty bugs in her computer. She's had no anti-virus program, but I bought McAfee (Total Protection for 3PC's) and sent her the installer since she couldn't download it herself. She isn't able to install it because it keeps saying she can't connect to the internet. She did several scans with Malware Bytes and repeatedly found trojan.vundo and virtumonde. I downloaded HijackThis and had her run it, then had it analyzed and we fixed the .dll files that were associated in it with virtumonde. However, she still can't get online to browse and neither McAfee or Trend Micro will let her install their programs. (Trend Micro keeps saying there's a threat on her computer that won't allow them to continue to install and asks her then to scan. After this is just stops.)She also experiences several "ghost" error messages in which the error sound is made but no message ever shows. It has to be looked up in the events viewer to figure out what error occurred. Below is her log. I just had her run another scan with Malware Bytes and it came up empty.  Hi The computer  that is slow is a desk top tower. In a home.  it is a E machine.
it has windows 7  professional  with service pack 1
DO KNOW :  I am very new to windows 7 and all it's features.
When I brought this computer home  last Nov. it was lightening fast at everything! so much better than  the windows XP  it replaced, I was thrilled.  yet Now starting in  April 2015  it is as slow  or slower  as my old Windows with XP ever was  ( and partially the reason for saving my  pennies to get this windows 7 computer)...and  now I'm upset. feeling  like I have been taken.

Computer displays the following :
3.8 windows experience index
Intel pentium dual 2.0Ghz  processor
64 Bit

Has Ccleaner installed
has Comodo antivirus and Comodo cleaning essentials installed.
All virus scans  find no infections,  and report that all is well and protected.  ( B/C of the way the computer is operating i'm doubting that and betting there is an infections of some sort)

I Have run Comodo cleaning essentials and  results find no abnormalities or infections.
Have run TFC and JRT  and the computer shows no signs of improvement.
have run rKill  and it  finds  no abnormalities  or infections.
All virus scan results  find no infections.

Answer:Windows 7 computer suddenly slow to get on internet, slow to browse websites etc

Hi flywelder Maybe we aren't looking at an infection here. There's tons of reasons why a system can slow down, and not all of them are malware related. Let's try to take a look at this issue under another angle shall we?MiniToolBoxDownload MiniToolBox and move the executable file to your Desktop;Execute MiniToolBox and check the following options:List Installed Programs;List Last 10 Event Viewer Errors;List Devices - Only Problems;List Users, Partitions and Memory size;Once this is done, click on Go and wait for the scan to complete;Once the scan is complete, a log will open. Please copy/paste the content of the output log in your next reply;

I also tried Microsoft's official solution to this problem with no success.------------------System Information------------------Time of this report: 8/18/2013, 18:23:26Machine name: GREGOperating System: Windows 8 Pro 64-bit (6.2, Build 9200) (9200.win8_gdr.130531-1504)Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: System manufacturerSystem Model: System Product NameBIOS: BIOS Date: 02/05/10 19:13:52 Ver: 08.00.10Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHzMemory: 8192MB RAMAvailable OS Memory: 8172MB RAMPage File: 1397MB used, 14966MB availableWindows Dir: C:\WINDOWSDirectX Version: DirectX 11DX Setup Parameters: Not foundUser DPI Setting: Using System DPISystem DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)DWM DPI Scaling: DisabledDxDiag Version: 6.02.9200.16384 64bit Unicode

I've just recently upgraded my computer from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After that, I am facing internet connection problem. I'm still able to connect to the wifi and have no problem connecting by the ethernet port, however, the only problem is I am unable access other applications/programs that require internet connection such as Steam, Google Drive and Google Chrome. The only odd thing was I was able to connect to without having any problems is The Edge.

Chrome just doesnt load at all when I type in any URLs(Google) and it only shows: This webpage is not available, ERR_FAILED.

Help is much needed and I would be really grateful if anyone is able to provide a solution to this issue. Thanks in advance.

Ive a 3 year old acer that is hard wired into a sky router. Yesterday I logged on but was unable to connect to internet. All wireless PC etc in house work fine.I hard wired a different PC and that worked so it appears to be my PC. It wont even connect with a belkin usb wireless.
Its still on windows 7.
Any advice ??

Answer:suddenly unable to hard wire to internet

"Yesterday I logged on but was unable to connect to internet."
In that case it's likely to be easier and quicker all round if you do a System Restore to the day before yesterday or so. Here's how if you're unfamiliar with it.

Hi,

I have been using my laptop to get on the internet with no problems. Then a couple of days ago, I tried to get on the internet and there is no connection. I actually noticed it before I started my browser when my anti-virus updates didn't download. I checked all my connection settings which were all fine, got a new ethernet cable, and did a system restore with no luck. That was about all I know to do. I have high-speed internet and the modem is working properly because my PC (that I am now on) gets on the net just fine. Nothing happened to the laptop that I am aware of, I just don't understand how one day its fine, and the next there is no connection. Can anyone offer any suggestions? I appreciate your help.

Thanks!

Answer:Laptop suddenly unable to access internet

You may need to update drivers for your wireless card (inside your laptop). This happened to me on my Acer laptop. Visit your laptop manufacturer's website and look for the latest drivers for your model.

Simply select the Settings and more menu and click the ?Full screen? arrows icon, or press ?F11? on your keyboard. Full screen mode hides things like the address bar and other items from view so you can focus on your content.

To exit full screen mode, move your mouse near top of the screen or swipe down with your finger and select the ?restore? icon in the top-right, or press ?F11? again.

Answer:Unable to browse Web

Normally we require you to follow all the steps in this Sticky thread < READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal > before we will even consider asking you to post a HijackThis log. There is always a work around. Couldn't you have downloaded all the programs and updates on another PC and possible burned them to a CD or a USB Flashcard and gotten them to the problem PC?

At any rate, HJT logs must only be posted when requested and they must be added to your message as an attachment. Please read the tutorial in this Sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

I will change your log to an attachment for you this time so we can try to make some progress on this PC. I will look at your log and post suggestions in the next message.

Well I have seen Bargains.exe as a virus before. I would suggest running your AV and spybot software to get rid of it. If it doens't find it you might want to boot into safe mode and run them again.

Answer:unable to browse

what happens when you open browser? just blank white screen?
go to
tools>internet options> connections>LAN settings. and make sure its on auto detect and not a proxy.
also try deleting cookies and cache and temporary internet files.
put security down a notch, maybe medium high level?
if no work
advanced tab. reset advanced settings

I'm having same problem, and it also started from yesterday. I don't know if this is something related to an update that my PC automatically did before yesterday because I restored my system to previous day and IE 7 still not working. Another odd thing is that I can use all messengers, email and others, and I can use "ping" Yahoo and other domains under DOS, but I can not "ping" another PC in my home.

Firefox works fine now and only IE have problem. I'm so get used to IE and would really like to figure out what causes the problem.

Thanks for all your input!

"What's the good to be part of this forum? No one helps!!!!!!"

Well, your thread was started only last night. Maybe not many people have seen it. This is also not the best forum to have placed it.

If your problem is really "does not launch any browser" perhaps the appropriate Operating System forum would be better. And if your problem is actually that (browsers launch, but) you do not get internet access through your browser on the laptop, then the Networking forum is definitely the place to be.

Consider whether you want to click on the red triangle and ask a moderator to move this.

Also give some information that can help the potential helpers. Stuff like OS, network details (sounds to me like maybe wireless with the laptop but I see no mention of it), etc.

Question: Unable to Browse

Hi guys.

I am having browsing issues.

I have recently put a new hard drive in my laptop, done a fresh XP install with up to date drivers, loaded basic software etc.

I was able to browse via firefox on a wireless connection but gradually over a day or two browsing has become intermittent - when I enter a URL it immediately says "Done" in the bottom left hand corner and the page is blank.

IE gives a similar response, Thunderbird times out and AVG can't find the server to update.

I can ping and resolve DNS.

Connection is via wireless with a different host every day - i'm on the road for a few months. The connections are good as I can sit with my second laptop and everything is ok. I don't have access to a wired connection until January.

However, if I put my old hard drive back in the laptop I can browse and email no probs - so I think that rules out hardware issues.

This has happened twice - first time it happened I deleted the partition and did another fresh xp install.

I've reached the limit of my knowledge - any ideas?

System is a Dell Latitude D820 500Gb Sata /4 GB RAM

Hi folks, just found this forum after searching for clues to the above problem. I have done all the ipconfig stuff and DNS flush, and my computer is showing that I am connected to the internet with WiFi. My computer has actually downloaded some updates while I was trying all the fixes but the bowser will not search, I even tried Mozilla but it would not browse either.
It is not the router as my other laptop connects no problem with XP, this laptop has Vista and someone else has Vista and can't connect. There is a desktop connected all the time with no problem either.
Any ideas please?
Cheers
Dave

Answer:Explorer unable to browse

I don't know if you have tried it, but it may be a firmware issue. If you haven't tried it try the fix it for me from Microsofts site. There is also explanations on why internet will work for XP but not Vista.

This issue occurs because of a difference in design between Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). Specifically, in Windows XP SP2, the BROADCAST flag in DHCP discovery packets is set to 0 (disabled). In Windows Vista, the BROADCAST flag in DHCP discovery packets is not disabled. Therefore, some routers and some non-Microsoft DHCP servers cannot process the DHCP discovery packets.
To have us fix this problem for you, go to the "Fix it for me" section. To fix this problem yourself, go to the "Let me fix it myself" section.

Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or from certain non-Microsoft DHCP servers

In XP I clicked on the icon for the 98se pc (client) and a msg says: "\\\Jim-e\shareddocs is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact administrator of this server to find if you have access permissions".
"The Network Path was not found"
I went to the Microsoft "Search the Knowledge Base" website and it has a 98SE help page pertaining to this error msg and it says: Go into the registry to HKey_Local_Machine_Software_Microsoft_Windows_CurrentVersion\Network\RealModeNet. then it says: "Delete the AutoLogon Key Value". I went into the RealModeNet folder and it shows 5 paths in it but AutoLogon ISN'T in there.

this may help. quoted form www.chicagotech.net.

NetBIOS and WINS are required in a mixed network
NetBIOS and WINS name resolution is required only on mixed-mode (Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000 and XP) networks to provide backward-compatibility older versions of Windows. If you have a domain mixed-mode network with DHCP and DNS, you are better to cerate WINS in your system. In workgroup mixed-mode network, most people enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP to resolve NetBIOS name to equivalent to IP addresses. Alternatively, you can install NetBEUI protocol in the clients.

Hello
We have hosted our site on our own server which is situated in USA. Now here in India I have a fixed IP. But when I go to my website nothing happens. It just keep loading the page without anything being displayed.
I have two other servers again which is situated in USA. When i connect to them via remote desktop and from there i can browse my website without any problem.

Can you let me know what the problem could be.

Thanx

Is it a new domain? Any chance the DNS changes just haven't propogated to India yet? If so, nothing to do but wait.....

Answer:Unable to Browse, Even Though Connected.

Moved to the software forum.

First thing to try is to go to start / run / and type:
sfc /scannow and have your xp cd handy. Run it at least twice. Let us know how that goes.

This has been an ongoing problem since a computer upgrade last October. It is intermittent, which makes this difficult to diagnose.

When I connect, (dial-up modem)I appear to connect , when I click on the icon in the systray, the status says I am connected - but no web pages come up. I get the usual Page Cannot Be Displayed message. I disconnect and immediately re-connect - and everything is fine - I can browse. This might happen several times a week but not everytime I connect.

A couple of weeks ago it reached the stage that I could not browse at all. As I needed the computer for some urgent work I decided to take it to my tech place as being the quickest way to get back online and as I could not connect I could no longer access this site. What a joke. It was 10 days before I got the computer back. First they said perhaps I had spyware. I said no, I run several programs to ensure I do not. Then it was the modem, then they said not the modem, then they said they would have to re-format. If I had known that was what it was going to end up as, I could have done it myself.

When I finally got to pick it up, they said I did need a new modem after all.I wonder.

They still haven't a clue what the problem was. Now, after using the computer for 3 days , it is starting again. This morning I could not browse until I had disconnected and re-connected. Then in the middle of a session, it stopped finding pages, then a few minutes later, everything was fine again.

I am suspecting some sort of virus, but I am not sure at this point.

I have a network of about 8 PC's with one NT 4.0 domain server. PC's running 95,98, 2000.

on the pc's I am able to log in and get my drives mapped automaticially. I can see and access the files on the mapped drive which is on the NT server. However, I cannot browse the network!

There is one pc(win95) where I can see several of the other pc's but I cannot see it from any others.

There are two hubs. I have re-booted the server several times, tried different ports on the hubs for some of the pc's. I ahve reset the hubs several times. No change.

All internet capable pc's are monitored with norton anti-virus.

I did a quick search and came up empty. Anybody?

I have desktop computer with router and broadband connection, win98se, everything works fine. I added laptop with card for wireless connection through the router it works, laptop has XPpro.

Next, I wanted to network the two. I started with laptop and ran the network wizard and a functioning bridge is present, and it recognized both the desktop and laptop in the view workgroup computers.

Next, I take the setup disk from the XP and put in Win SE and run the set up. I reboot and it gives me the entire neighborhood but when I click on entire neighborhood, I get "unable to browse the network".

I have found some cites for advice, but cant resolve this problem.

From what I understand, Microsoft is continuing support for Win98 longer, but that doesn't help.

Any step by step ideas for a newbie to networking who is very frustrated. I hope I didn't forget any information and tried to explain step by step what I have done.

Thanks

Houston, TX

Answer:Unable to browse the network

The basics for troubleshooting are:

1. Make sure you have the same IP scheme (e.g. 192.168.0.x).

2. Make sure you have the same Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS IP addresses.

3. Make sure you can ping the other computer's IP address.

4. Make sure you can ping the other computers by name.

5. Make sure you have the same workgroup name (watch for trailing spaces)

6. For troubleshooting purposes, turn off XP's and any other firewall software. You can always add more complexity after you get it working.

7. With XP, make sure you have the same username and password as the person logging onto the other computers. The default setting for XP Pro is to require a password for network access.

8. Apply the registry edit to fix the browsing delay from XP to Win9x computers

There continues to be a lot of misinformation about needing NetBEUI or to changing the NetBIOS setting. You can ignore both. Installing NetBEUI to solve a networking problem will just mask a some underlying and potentially important misconfiguration with TCP/IP. The default NetBIOS setting works fine so there is not need to change that either.

I'm unable to browse a certain website(www.taobao.com) once I click a link on www.taobao.com. Going to the homepage its fine, but once I click anything on the site, it cannot be loaded. I can ping the website. I used another computer or phone to browse the site, the problem is still the same. No firewall is blocking that website.

Well this is a strange problem. For months now my network has been working fine. However yesterday, I started having problems.

When I attempt to browse the workgroup I get "Workgroup is not accessable" on every computer on the network.

However when I type in the machine name manually in a run box i.e. \\computer2\

it comes up fine. This leads me to beleive that my permissions are right. Like I said, this just stated happening. If anyone has seen this before please let me know.

Answer:unable to browse network

dont you have to put \\computer2\drive or folder??

I have a Dell 9200 (4GB ram) just did a clean install of W7 64bit.

All went OK ... but now in a strange position ... it can browse internet no problem, get to any any sites ... but will not download anything ?
When I click on download .. normal download box opens but nothing in the 'download To' or' Transfer rate' fields. Eventually they time out and drop.
The top bar of download window shows 0% and does not change.

And nothing is ever downloaded.

Tried several sites nothing will download.
It has however downloaded many windows updates and installed them, so it must be able to get data OK..

Only thing other than standard install is after OS loaded I moved the default user profile location (as per tech doc here)
I have tried different ports on router .. and even swapped ports & cables of PC's that are working ... still dame .. browses happily, but no downloads.

First thing I want to download is anti-virus ... cant even download Kaspersky file.

On network & sharing .. it shows that connected to LAN ... and if I open the LA icon .. it does show as active and happily sending & receiving

I could start again and do install again ... but to save time is there anything I can do here ?

Answer:Will browse but unable to download anything ?

Hi is this wireless or wired issue?

1. Have you tried a different browser to see if the issue persists.

2. Review local firewall settings.

I'm trying to share files between two PCs. One is Win 95, one is Win 98se. I'm using a crossover CAT5 cable. After I've configured the two computers and all the network settings, protocols, services, same workgroup name, etc.

They've both got TCP/IP, NetBui, and IPX, file sharing is loaded and checked.

The Win95 is able to see the Win98se, but the Win98se PC can't see the Win95 PC. When I click on network neighborhood, then entire network, I receive the following message:

"Unable to browse the network. The network is not accessible."

The Norton diagnostic program says: "Enumeration failed, result is 1245" It won't elaborate.

I'm going nuts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HELP. I have a 2 PC peer-to-peer file & print sharing network. Both PC's were Win 98 SE until I upgraded one to Windows XP Pro. Since the upgrade the Win 98 PC can no longer browse the network and access any files on the Win XP PC. The XP PC can browse the Win 98 PC with no problems. I double checked my shared folders, and the enable file sharing settings on both PCs, and even disabled the XP Firewall in an attempt to figure it out, but nothing works. Any ideas?

Although a lot of this is probably working, the basics for troubleshooting are:

1. Make sure you have the same IP scheme (e.g. 192.168.0.x).

2. Make sure you have the same Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS IP addresses.

3. Make sure you can ping the other computer's IP address. If this fails, just for testing, make sure you turn off XP's as well as any other firewall.

4. Make sure you can ping the other computers by name.

5. Make sure you have the same workgroup name (watch for trailing spaces)

6. For troubleshooting purposes, turn off XP's and completely uninstall any other firewall software. You can always add more complexity after you get it working.

7. With XP, make sure you have the same username and password as the person logging onto the other computers. The default setting for XP Pro is to require a password for network access.
