When I go throught the ordering options for the T410 (on the Canadian site), after the "System components" when I click "Continue", I'm taken to the Services and software page which is blank except for the "Continue" Button.  There are no options for what support/warranty to choose at all.  What's up?  Anybody else see this?  Are the options just being updated and that's causing a problem or is there something more going on?  Anyone know?

After a little consideration, my loose space key is not bothering me that much. But my "e" key has started to squeek. It is getting so bad that when i use the X220 to take notes during meetings, people smirks and silently laughs. It's getting kind of annoying. So!I've been browsing through the forums and the lenovo.com page but still can't figure this out:Is there a way I can actually talk/write with a real live human being and explain my situation? I want them to send me a keyboard as I'm pretty sure I can replace it myself, the manual and videos are great. My other option is to use a local company for the job, and that means I'll be without a computer for a week or so, and I'd really like to avoid that.  Thanks!

So, I didn't know where else to go to ask this question, so I put it here.  If you know the answer in a different forum page, please let me know. The hard drive to my HP crashed and I recently purchased a new one.  I have gotten to the point where I am going to need to obtain a new OS for it. I made it to the HP website, to the "HP Support - Order software and driver media" page to purchase the software/driver that I need for it.  I would like to purchase it, but it seems that the website will not accept my Serial Number.  It's nothing complex; it simply won't let me type it in.  I am able to put in my information on the other bars (name, address, etc.), but won't for that line.  Does anyone know how to fix this issue?  I'm worried that it's going to tell me that there aren't any more left, which would be awful, and I'm hoping that it's just a webpage bug.  If anyone could help, that would be great.

Hello!
So I just ordered a Dell XPS 15 and got the confirmation email and everything. When I try to click on see order status a blank page shows up, when I try to search by the Internet Receipt Number, nothing is found. I tried calling Dell Norway several times, but a automatic voice machine say I should go to the website for answers or chat with Dell. When I open a chat no one there is willing to help me and are giving me a email to a 3rd party shop that sells Dell computers, but they can't help me because I didn't place a order with them.
I'm getting so frustrated with this I'm considering canceling my order!!

Just called the IBM/Lenovo parts department and tried to order a replacement heatsink for my T60 (the fan in mine is getting pretty noisy). I opened up the machine and compared it with the pictures in the HMM and the FRU is 41W0467. I tried looking this up on their parts website (not found) and then called 877-719-0841 and they just told me the part number is invalid. The parts line person told me to call tech support and gave me their number. I called and gave them the machine serial number and they told me they couldn't help me because the machine was out of warranty. They refused to even check if the FRU was valid, much less help me find an alternative p/n "because the machine is out of warranty". He kept saying it was a company policy that they would provide no information for an out-of-warranty machine. I asked if he worked for Lenovo or IBM and he said both. I asked to talk to the guy's manager and he said there was no manager for out of warranty machines and then he hung up on me. Amazing. I'm actually glad I called so I could see just how bad things have gotten. I was starting to think about a W520, but now once my T60 finally dies I'm done with Lenovo for good.

If you could post the Type and Model Number of your system members will be able to check the part number you need. I personally suspect you may have a typo there and might be looking for 41W6047, you'll need to scroll down a little.

I tried to order a DVD/ODD bezel as well as the rails w. screws which secure it when loaded into the bay. The tech support person with whom I spoke was rude and condescending beyond belief and just repeated the script "I hope your experience with Lenovo tech support exceeded your expectations; have a nice day" and hung up on me. If anyone has ordered these parts and can comfirm the FRU numbers, please post them here. If anyone from Lenovo lurks on these forums and does anything to actually help users rather than just deleting critical posts, the case number in question is A062FC7. I'd rather take helpful and polite in Manila than rude and nasty in Atlanta anyday.

Hi, When I ordered on Dec. 2007 the Recovery Disk for my Lenovo 3000 J115 desktop had to call 1-800-426-7378. Don?t remember the prompts, but found a rep that transferred me to what appeared to be the right department. May want to make sure you specify that it is for a Desktop or you?ll get bounced around to other departments, like I did. I gave the 1st rep all my info including model #, name, address, serial code, etc?, to place order, then at the end he asked if it was laptop and I said no and he had to transfer me to the desktop department & I had to start all over with the order.  Would like to have been able to order it online, but that option did not appear to be available. It was out of warranty when I purchased it so it cost around $60 with shipping. Now on a related note, my chance to vent about the 1st time I tried to order the recovery disk. 1st a little background info. Purchased my Lenovo 3000 J115 Nov. 2006. It was installed with Windows XP and had a voucher to purchase Vista upgrade, when Vista was released, which I did. Vista arrived around Feb. 2007, & I promptly installed it. So far so good. March 2007 purchased music equipment specifically Digidesign hardware with Pro Tools software to use with my new Lenovo computer.  I know comp. may not be built for that, but I?m just getting into music software editing. We use Outlook 2000 and one of our users wants to set the order in which the email addresses appear in the TO line. When she chooses names from her address book, the names appear in reverse order on the TO line.
Can we turn this off?

I have 3 email accounts I use with thunderbird. How do you change the default account when composing messages? Quite frequently I forget to change the account I am using when composing and the email gets sent from the wrong account.

My sister told me that her Windows Mail is really strange. I can't help her because I don't use Windows Mail so I am asking on her behalf.

a) When she opens her Contact list , the names are in alphabetical order (which is expected) .However when she composes an email and clicks on the "To" button , the name list displayed is not in alphabetical order by name but strangely ordered by email addresses. Is there a way to rearrange to resort by names?

b) When she types a name in the Address area ie in the box next to "To" , another page opens for search. Is this normal ? With Outlook ( which she used to use until she changed to a new computer running Vista) when you type the name a list of potential email addresses appear. IS there a way to fix this?

I'm piggybacking on here because I have a similar problem. I imported my address book from Outlook Express and now when I begin to type in the name on "To" line it doesn't find the contact. For example if my contact is Joe Smith, I use to be able to type in Jo (and the auto fill would kick in) Now I need to remember Joe Smith's email which might not be anything like his name ([email protected]) How do I organize my address book like it was on O.E.? I want them alphebetically by first name, not by their email address.

I've been having way too much trouble navigating the Lenovo support pages.  Like most companies, it seems they try to hide their contact info within all of the troubleshooting guides written for first time computer users.  Anyway, could anyone direct me to Lenovo email support?  I'm abroad right now and cannot call their phone support line without paying long distance.  The only email support that I could find was IBM Electronic Service Call, which seems geared towards IT professionals and businesses.  Any usefull referals are greatly appreciated.Austin

i sent an email 2 a freind and he said he carnt stop receiveing it he is running xp and e mail claint is outlook so i sent the same email to some one else and they said they received it no worries i use norton to check for viruses because this bloke said it was my computer and i sent him a virus but that carnt be i check all emails i use incredi mail as email client and norton checks everything i send can someone help me and my freind out as he dosent want any more emails from me then i heard today it is doing it to all of his emails that get sent to him from different people

It more then likely is a virus. Norton, sadly, does not pick everything, infact you'd be lucky if it did pick up anything.

Try AVG or AVAST (they are free anti-virus programs but are a lot more efficient)

You might also find help in the highjack section. The link on the top right of any page (one that reads "Having problems with spyware and pop-ups? First Steps") will help you with that.

When I look at warrenty status it says:This product has a three year limited warranty and is entitled to mail-in or carry-in repair service. But I cannot find any support email!Living in Amsterdam, I cannot use the (USonly) webforms for support requests. Furthermore I payed for on-site-support ??? If I phone technical suppport the cannot put me through to contract administration and they cannot see my warrenty status. Anybody having the same problems?

Okay bit of a riddler i think....

I am trying to add my mothers old NTL World email account onto her new Outlook (Hotmail), now im abit mythed with how to go about filling the server information for outbound and incoming. To be fair its something i know very little about, there are sections for port number as well. Can anyone assist in what i need to fill out on the Outlook add an account section and the correct settings to get all her old emails to bleed into this new Outlook email?

Does anyon have a contact number or email for support? i have a unit in for repair for overtwo months and when i look up the support ticket it simply says "On Hold'.  When i get in touch with customer suppport they say call 800 474-6836 which no one answers but a chatbot and will not pass you through to any human or give you a email to get answers.

I need to know if anyone knows what is going on with Yahoo email or if they know a better way of getting hold of their support. I've already sent 3 support forms in and NO RESPONSE. I have tried to open my Yahoo email since 11:30 yesterday and I get the message that I have copied following my message here. I haven't changed any settings on my browsers or computer. I have tried it on different browsers (FlashPeak Slimbrowser and IE) and I tried rebooting and nothing has worked. I don't have any trouble accessing other web pages on the same laptop. I can go to MY Yahoo page without any trouble and it shows that I do have 24 messages in my inbox but I can't open the link to get to them. I even tried clicking on Sign Out, but I get the same message. It is sooooo frustrating! My opsys is WinXP. I haven't done anything unusual in the last day or two that I can remember. I really need to get into that email account! My backup email is [email protected].

My ideapad z580's hard drive completely failed after a random Windows update ravaged my computer with its awfulness. I need support and repairs, but I live in Tokyo now and don't want to be charged a million yen trying to call a u.s. support number. I can't even find my computer on the support page drop down menu; it goes from z575 to z585 and completely skipped over z580. I've had a million problems with this machine's performance from day 1 and really I just want to go out and buy an axe and chop it to oblivion but it's the only computer I'm going to get so I NEED to get it repaired! How can I get this hard drive repaired/replaced from Tokyo? I am within warranty, and I got the super duper kind.I only have a smartphone now, and using lenovos website is incredibly rage-inducing so I'd really like it if support could help me through email to create a service request.

Welcome to the forums and sorry to hear about your trouble.
 
Looking at the International Warranty Services (IWS) lookup page, the Z580 has warranty coverage in Japan but it's thru phone support only. I would recommend you contact the helpdesk on how to go about getting the HDD replaced and the OS reloaded.

In addition, if a Windows Update corrupted the OS (causing it to not boot into Windows) then there maybe a chance to recover it.
 
Things that you can try:
Option 1:
Shutdown the machine, press the OneKey Recovery (Novo) Button then select System Recovery.

If successful, the System Recovery page should appear and just follow the prompts to restore the system to factory settings.

1. If the Z580 came preloaded with Windows 8/8,1, using a different PC, follow this guide on how to download a Windows 8.1 ISO. When finished, follow this guide to create a bootable UEFI flashdrive.

There used to be a well-hidden location on the Symantec Web site where SOME assistance with their software could be handled by email--anyone know if that still exists--I could not locate it.

I need their help to determine how to solve the inability of the latest LiveUpdater to successfully update the Norton 2005 AntiSpam Components and Norton 2006 Norton AntiVirus Norton Program Update (English).

Although I have been a loyal Norton user since Peter Norton started the company, I will NEVER use their products again.

It is also amazing that with updated antivirus definitions, one or two of the new Zlob Trojans got into my computer and Norton could not find them or keep them out, although Panda and Ewido's online scans found these Trojans once my computer was infected.

Hi,I've an approved RMA for full refund for an X230 that I'd purchased from Depot. The restocking fee was waived as I'd ordered another X230 (better EPP deal).I shipped back the unopened X230 and Lenovo acknowledged the receipt of the laptop on Feb 5. And since then there has been no update on my refund. I was told it would take 6 business days for the refund to be posted back to my account.Now it's over 2 weeks and when I contacted post sales support - this is the reply I got from them: *************Hi,We regret to inform you that i am unable to get any information on this order, I am still working on your order. An answer like "i am unable to get any information on this order" from customer care themselves doesn't really inspire confidence with Lenovo. The second X230 that I'd ordered, has issues with the IPS display having a yellow tint and the touchpad being super jumpy. Had sent it to their repair center who unfortunately were not able to see the problems at first but later accepted the problem with the touchpad alone and they're getting the laptop re-imaged. Why does it say that I will receive the laptop 2 weeks from now when it says that I should expect it within 1-3 days?

Answer:Dell site says XPS 15 gets delivered in 1-3 days, the order date for my order is 2 weeks from now...

Generally when that happens there has been a burst of orders, or there is a part on back order and the sales site hasn't been updated yet.  The delivery times are just estimates and could be sooner or later depending on various conditions.

Nevermind the details, but Skype people insist that my Skype ID doesn't exist, even though I use it once or twice every week. Now they have changed the website to remove links to email.

And it's not like I've been a freeloader. I have probably spent $100 over the years on Skype doing calls from overseas to landlines.

Any suggestion will be received gratefully, I know that this is an OS forum, but Skype is now owned by an OS company and also there are a lot of sharp techs on this forum.

We have recently had Windows 7 installed at our small business, we are having a problem with printing specific emails, when we reply to an email that has an image in the signature and we quote using £ symbols on reply, when we print the email out the £ symbol turns into a square.
We have changed it to plain text formatting which allows us to have the £ symbol but we loose our signature (as this is htm attachement) and email formatting (lots of double line spacing)
We are printing through a network using infotec MP201 which has latest drivers and Windows 7 64 Professional

I was requested via email, by customer support at Bleeping Computers.com to submit my CF log. There are two, because the first time, the Windwows Recovery Console would not install, but instructions said to let the log finish, so I did. The second log is different, obviously with the installation of the Windows Recovery Console, the results changed. Both completed, as expected; however, the first run actually 'rebooted' the system, and when that happened, Kaspersky automatically turned on, and I noticed several files or processes were blocked. (Files blocked by Kaspersky were pv.cfexe and fi.cfexe - have no idea what they are, but thought I'd let you know.)

The second log installed the Windows Recovery Console and did not 'reboot'; therefore, Kaspersky was turned off the entire time, which probably accounts for some of the discrepancy between the two logs, but since 'YOU GUYS' are the gurus, I thought it best to submit both, with a detailed exlanation as to why there are two logs and what happened.

Norton discovered a virus on my computer yesterday named W32.HLLW.Gaobot.gen

I could not repair, so I tried to download 'fix' file and I couldn't get on the Symantec website. I can't run liveupdate, and no matter what site I go to to get to Symantec it says not found.

I went to my neigbors and downloaded the fix, did the fix, reformated my hard drive and loaded XP home, (needed to do this and thought might as well now) got everything reloaded, installed, no problem, except the Norton, still can't live update or even get on their site

This morning I woke up to find my Norton open, saying I had the same virus again, I again, did the fix, says it is fixed but still cannot get on Nortons site?

I don't know if settings are wrong, I messed with everything under the internet security, added norton/symantec as trusted sites. I would like to just email symantec tech support, but I can't find their email address anywhere, I have even tried to guess at what it is but they came back

HELP...please someone, tell me how to fix my problem or let me know the tech support addy.

I took the free update to windows 10 and it did not carry forward the licence for the pre installed  Windows Office. This means that I have an option to purchase a replacement licence from Microsoft. I have spent over an hour today with windows support and they say that HP can reset the licence - does anyone know how I can contact HP Support as I cannot use any of the MS Office unless I pay Microsoft.

Norton discovered a virus on my computer yesterday named W32.HLLW.Gaobot.gen

I could not repair, so I tried to download 'fix' file and I couldn't get on the Symantec website. I can't run liveupdate, and no matter what site I go to to get to Symantec it says not found.

I went to my neigbors and downloaded the fix, did the fix, reformated my hard drive and loaded XP home, (needed to do this and thought might as well now) got everything reloaded, installed, no problem, except the Norton, still can't live update or even get on their site

This morning I woke up to find my Norton open, saying I had the same virus again, I again, did the fix, says it is fixed but still cannot get on Nortons site?

I don't know if settings are wrong, I messed with everything under the internet security, added norton/symantec as trusted sites. I would like to just email symantec tech support, but I can't find their email address anywhere, I have even tried to guess at what it is but they came back

HELP...please someone, tell me how to fix my problem or let me know the tech support addy.

been looking around the website for an email and havent really found one, all i found was phone numbers and this forum which neither have worked for me to get help with my Lenovo Y650. I posted on here over a week ago about my problem and no one has answered me and called Lenovo UK yesterday and talked to a guy that put me on hold 2 times and kept me on the line for 30 min and all he suggested was to re install over and over, hold the power key while no power is connected to refresh, then turn off my firewall and antivirus, then blamed that it was a software issue while it ran perfectly on my HP laptop.  so now i want to know a third method so i can hopely be satisfied with the laptop i bought. so anyone know an email to any good technical support person?Thank You.

The Windows Photo Viewer will not display photos in the order they are sorted by Windows Explorer.
This is not referring to the slide show feature, just the forward and back arrows.
The only order pictures can be viewed is by name despite Windows Explorer being set at view by date, ascending.
I have repaired Microsoft Live Essentials, uninstalled and reinstalled but the issue remains.
This is also not an issue with photo tags or photo names.
Windows Explorer sorts as selected but click a picture in the middle to view, click the forward arrow and instead of the next date picture being viewed, the next name picture is viewed.

What is obviously missing is an entry in the registry called DropTarget. This entry tells Windows Photo Viewer to display the images in the sorting order of the folder Photo Viewer got called from.

Non-solution:
I saw that at least in my registry there is a DropTarget defined in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\photoviewer.dll\shell\open\DropTarget. From the name of the key and from reading the docs this looks as if it would be applied to all calls to this program, but -if that actually is the case- for me this entry does not work. It has been there (at least) after my Windows 10 upgrade, also the "Clsid"="{FFE2A43C-56B9-4bf5-9A79-CC6D4285608A}" seems to be fine, but it does not do the job.

Solution:
For me, this problem was present for jpg and png files, but not for bmp, dib, gif, jfif and what else can be opened with Windows Photo Viewer. To fix this, I have added the following to the Windows Registry:

 This is my Order Number: 2FFVLJI've always owned a Thinkpad for the past 10 years and am a staunch Thinkpad fan.  The R60 and Z60m have been reliable and faithful companions.  I have been recommending Thinkpad to my colleagues and friends.  Hence when I needed a new laptop, I went directly to lenovo's site and ordered a T510 (Web Special) on 4th August 2010 using a valid credit card.  For two days the status was "in process".  On Aug 6th, I was unable to login in usng the cust no and order no to see the status.  When I called the sales customer service, I was informed that the order was cancelled from lenovo's side.  They pointed me to the credit card department for further information.  When I called the credit card department, they claimed information mismatch as the reason for the cancellation but they could not point out what exactly was the mismatch.  I can assure you that the card is valid.  Currently I'm not able to place another order for the same model from lenovo's site as it is no longer available.  This is very regretful as I was really looking forward to getting my laptop of choice.  I tried calling the sales dept but they are not available as it is weekend now (everyone needs a break )  So I have emailed them for help.  I'm yet to get a response.  This has been a nail biting experience.  I'm anxiously waiting for the response from the sales dept.   Will it be possibl... What do you guys use for a Linux mail server that also has built in web mail support? I need something that...

a) Will run on Fedora Core 4
b) Is Free
c) Is not a huge pain in the ass to set up and maintain.

I found Open Exchange but don't know if it's any good...

What exactly are you wanting to do?
A full Exchange type setup, with shared calendars, and etc?

There is no 'single' package (with the exception of maybe openexchange heh) that will do all of this. If you need to have the full features of something like Exchange, be prepared to do some legwork, as you will have to install and configure many pieces of software.

For a basic mail server, the system is made up of various components and softwares that you will have to setup:


A good MTA (mail transfer agent -- IE mail server) I recommend looking into is Postfix
Next,
If you want users to be able to check mail via a webmail system, then you are going to need two things:
A webmail client, for which, I suggest Squirrelmail

In order for squirrelmail to work, you need to have it backended with an IMAP server. I personally use Courier-IMAP

Now all of this might not make much sense, so here are some links to mail server tutorials that you can read through (all are for linux, the setup should be similar on Fedora for you)

Does anyone have an email address that will put me in contact with someone in Canada? I spent three hours trying to get help that wasn't through the telephone, telling half a dozen people that I couldn't use the phone to get help. Technical support won't chat with people in Canada and I just jumped through a dozen hoops, only to end up in the same place. I am hoping to find some kind of ONLINE communication with Lenovo about warranty work on the IdeaPad.  I do not want to be forced to call.  Unfortunately my experience so far with Lenovo and my first computer purchase from them has not been satisfactory, and now that I am having new issue with the laptop, I am hoping to at least cut out the extreme inconvenience of needing to deal with the issue via phone. Is there an email address or form submission page available for US customers?  I found one for storage and accessories, but cannot find one for computers.

does any one know the email address for google mail tech support.

I have poured over their site and cannot find any way to actually contact them. It always ends up joining the forum.

My wife has a spam mail problem and after some testing I can isolate the problem to the google mail site. The problem as been reported on the google user forum but as these posts are over a month old and there as been no comment on the furum from google themselves I need to draw their attension to it.

I had a reset password link image not showing in my email. The company said to contact yahoo support. I gave him remote access and he pointed out a lot of microsoft services that had been stopped. Support tech said I have a trojan  and wanted 150.00 to remove.  My virus protection is not detecting anything. I have also ran malware bytes and super anti spyware. I have a windows 10 computer that is only 2 months old. It came with Mcafee virus software which I just removed because I don't like it. I installed AVG antivirus which I have used for years with no problems. Thank you for your help!

I have 400+ photos, all are in the same order by date created and by name, so no matter which way I sort them--by name or date created-- they are in the same order. When i view them with microsoft office picture manager, some of them -- about 20, at random throughout the list -- are out of order.

Our email has a queue system that splits email as 1 (priority), 5 (medium), 10 (bulk). Problem is, a lot of clients put down fake emails/names that have no destination. We set it up as after 24 hours, the email should be deleted. Problem is, it stops trying to send the emails after 24 hours but they still remain in the queue, overflowing the damn thing with tens/hundreds of gigs. After scouring the internet for more info (and failing), I figured that either two things can happen:

- I post on forums asking for more help
- I post on forums asking for the Microsoft Support Incident and how the process works (can this be part of the technet package?)

I'm sorry to write this kind of issue here on a public forum, but was forced to and I can see that I'm not alone In a short words ... after a long service repair of my Yoga 710 and a long way of proveing to the seller that the hardware has a defect (fan is blowing straight to the microphone making noise), I've got money refound on 03.04.2017 !Total time that I was without funds and without a laptop lasted from 10.01.2017 to 03.04.2017 (83 days, including Lenovo Service Support - 32 days). I have got only one sorry word from Lenovo nothing more. That's all for my effort to contact them, explain everything, loosing my nerves, all invonvieniences at my bussiness etc. I asked finally what will you do if I want to buy new Lenovo product in the future (maybe small discount for me) but didn't get answer until today...Where should I write an email concerning complaint about Tech Support  ?

 I bought TPS230U in may2013, and one monthe ago, the laptop just turned off by itself and wont turn on anymore. I had tried troubleshoop refresh and resetting options but it doesnt work.
My warranty certificate is still valid for itnernational support (now I live in  Brazil), so that, I called Brazilīs support (My laptop ID is: Type 3347 2GU S/N xxxxxxx 13/02.
At the first time I contacted by phone, the attendant asked me to (once again) turn off the laptop  and call back again. Well, I did it, adn (of course) it didnt work. So I called once again. The second the new clerk said I should buy a cd or dvd ( which could not be via USB stick ) , download from other computer and copy  an image file  that lenovo would understand the problem . I explained that I had not cd to record that moment. But he was very rude, and told me that it the  support goes to my house and concludes that there is a software problem and not hardwa, I was supposed to pay for the visit. So, I went to a store and bought a recordable CD , recorded the ISO file and got home to insert it into the laptop and....for my surprise,  my laptop doenst have any  entry for CD ! I feel that lenovo has been really disrespectfull with me and all I want is to have a simple support to my laptop, but I still couldnt have. Pleaase let me know how can I solve this problem before my waranty term expires!!!

i currently have a dell Inspiron 5558 laptop for over an year now but the screen stop working over 6 months ago, i looked up the warranty information at the time of screen stopped working and was re-assured that it showed February 18, 2017 therefore i did not consider that it is very urgent to call tech support since i have other laptops. today when i call the support service, i was informed that product was not registered and i have to pay $233 to replace the LCD screen, they still argued that dell warranty website showed the correct information but when i looked it up, the website still displays the same.  did anyone else encounter this issue??

I keep receiving calls from fake MICROSOFT Tech support with various telephone numbers. Strange, they do not show up in my phone on line logs. They wanted me to go to FASTSUPPORT\763721586 ( do not use  these numbers). It is a company  called FASTSUPPORT.com. they also give you a complaint department where you can enter the number that you feel is causing you problems, the number of the LOGMEINRESCUE type remote access code. of course it is clear to them that you are suspicious and they will get rid of the  phone operator who didn't succeed. So do not bother to leave any complaint.

I have a T430s laptop and it is less than 6 months old. It starting getting blue screens within a month of purchasing it. Technical support has been helpless in trying to fix the laptop. First, tech support told me to turn update my computer daily. Then another tech support employee told me to turn OFF my auto updates. This did nothing and over a few weeks the blue screens progressively got worse. Next, tech support told me to run a diagnostic on my computer which turned up nothing. Then, they tried giving me recovery discs and a new hard drive. After that failed they took it in to replace the system board which made the blue screens worse. Then they sent me MORE recovery CDs to try to fix the problem and that also made the blue screens worse. I called tech support after this and they said they would send in a request for a replacement laptop. I was told I would hear from someone in a couple days. FIVE days later I got a called from someone asking if I wanted a replacement and I said yes. Then I was told I had to wait two more business days to get contacted about it. Another 3-4 business days later, someone called me to tell me that they would NOT be replacing the laptop despite the fact tech support could not fix the laptop. After calling tech support once again, I was told that they wanted me to send in my laptop again for up to 7 business days! This is completely unacceptable. I have just sent a thinkpad back for repair for the first time in over 20 years of owning  Thinkpad.  I have had 8 thinkpad  series laptops in my time as well as a few desktops and now lenovo phones. I am absolutely horrified with the diabolical Thinkpad support. This is meant to be business level support. I feel like I am phoning up Curry's.  Laptop sent back with hard disk in it and I am being told now that it "turned up without a hard disk in it". Now undercurrent of me lying. Original problem had not been assessed and I still don't have my laptop back after 3 weeks. Customer service agents just tell you anything they want to get you off the phone. I suppose all things come to an end but my loyalty to the Thinkpad brand is probably over now.  I am sure I am not the first. Has anyone else come across this?

We are Dell resellers and had placed an order for 43 Laptops - Dell Latitude 3560 with Dell on 13th June, 2016. We delivered them to our customer on Friday 17th June, 2016. On Monday 20th June we discovered that all the Laptops are faulty and are not functioning properly. They have not been able to use a single system due to touchpad issues in the entire lot
We have made innumerable calls Dell to resolve the problem, but the team is unable to identify and rectify the problem. 
We have spoken to our partner account manager, regional account manager, Service Specialist and Escalation Team, requesting them to provide us with a solution at the earliest as their work is getting hampered. Our customer has to deploy the same by 1st July however they do not have any Dell Laptops functioning correctly.  
How do we escalate this to the Dell management and get a replacement ASAP

Hello there, I'm interested in finding out more about the X220 - In particular the actual bandwidth available to the i7 Version of the X220 with it's USB 3 port. I'd like to be able to use the Black Magic Design Intensity Shuttle with this laptop, however it requires a Super Speed USB 3.0 Port. It's common for laptops to only use a single PCIe lane interconnect, giving the USB3 Port only 2.5gbps of available bandwidth. This won't be enough to allow that capture card to work  A similar situation also exists for the Expresscard slot - To be able to support Expresscard v2.0, It needs to provide 5gbps (2x PCIe v1 lanes). If it does this, It's possible I can buy an USB 3 Expresscard which will have enough bandwidth to use the card. In short I would like to know if the super speed USB 3 port can actually function at the intended speed, and is not crippled to half rate.

I paid for 3 years of support and accidental damage in home support. Together, it cost around $400 on my new XPS laptop. Afew months after I bought XPS 15 9560, I pulled out the charging cord, and a round piece of plastic that was inside the port came out too.
I called technical support at 5 pm EST, and received someone in Southern India. I gave them my information, and they confirmed that I had service. They then fought with me for 15 minutes, telling me I could NOT have any in home service. The representative, who kept calling me by my first name (no respect)  said I had to send my laptop to a depot in Texas for them to identify the issue. Finally, after I insisted, the representative, S. Sirya Kiran, FINALLY allowed me to get in home support IF I sent him photos of the damage. I did. Finally, I received an email telling me to select a date for service, which I did, 12/18/17 between 9 am and 1:00 pm .
I took time off and waited. No one came by 11:30, or called. So I contacted World Wide Tech Services. They then told me they didn't have enough techs to handle my area, so they were NOT coming. I asked why no one gave me the courtesy of a phone call and they had no answer. They said a new company, Unisys, would contact me. (I doubt they ever will.)
Is this what Dell gives people for their money as far as support and accidental damage in home service for $400? This is an outrage.

Started about a month ago - pops up over and over and over and over - about every five minutes or less.  I've got a Dell Studio XPS with Windows 7 Professional.  Another forum said to just uninstall Dell Support Center (Support Center Software) - but when I try to uninstall it - THE SAME STUPID WINDOW POPS UP ASKING ME TO INSERT THE SOFTWARE.  I tried doing a Browse and it's looking for DSC20.msi.  I haven't managed to find it yet.  I have at least found \Program Files(x86)\Dell Support Center but there's so many sub-directories...
I shouldn't have to be jumping through so many hoops just to uninstall a program.  This is driving me crazy and I haven't found an answer online yet.

I clean installed windows 7 on my Y650. Then camera is not working, microphone is not working (even if I use external microphone, it is not working). I tried using vista driver but not working. is there any way to make them work? really frustrated ...

Someone told me in another thread, and I also read here, that



All Wireless N routers support dual-band 802.11nClick to expand...

implying that any wireless N router can use the 5 GHz band as well as the 2.4 GHz band. Isn't that the implication?

Then why is it that when I browse routers, only some of them list both 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency, while others list only 2.4 in the specs? I want to switch my network over to 5 GHz in order to get away from all the interference I'm getting, as discussed in this thread.

So what's the real answer? Will any cheap "wireless N" router be able to do 5 GHz, (e.g. this one?) or do I need a more expensive dual band one?

No. The 802.11n standard supports 5GHz, but does not require it. Now if a device was 802.11ac, it will have a 5GHz radio since that standard only works on that freq.

I have a situation where someone has 2 email addresses. One of them is now redundant and I have deleted it from the People section. However, when I am set to make a new email to that person and type the first letter of their name, in the pop up window (that you can click on) their old email address still appears.
How do I delete this from that list? Can find no way to do so.

In new email, start typing the address you want to remove. When you have enough characters for auto complete to show it (sometimes one letter is enough), use DOWN ARROW key on keyboard to select the address in question and press DEL key.

When I installed Win8 on one computer I need a H.P. printer driver. So I went to H.P. support/download did not find the needed driver so I called their Tech. support. A friendly support guy looked at my system and told me my copy of Microsoft Win8 bought at Best Buy was not a legit copy, also my system had been infected and they needed to remove my Win8 clean my system and reinstall Win8. made me a deal of a reduced price of $250US I knew this was not right so I begged them good buy went to Best Buy where I have good friends in the Geek Squad. they got the needed driver and printer works fine.
Today my Netgear routher died, called Netgear to get my lifetime warranty. This also was a support in India guy said it would cost $39US to make sure it was the router I said thanks but no thanks. Took my old Netgear router back to Best Bye where I bought it three years ago and they gave me a new Netgear router. I needed setup help so called Netger as new user also in India guy was friendly looked at my system and helped me get it setup. Then he informed me my computer was under attack and my files were being read he could fix my system and protect my files for the small sum of just $85US. Well I was using a small backup H.P. computer on the Net. hardwired and it was almost never used. So I knew it was a India Tech. support scam again.

This is a General question regarding the end of support for XP. I realise at the end date the computer should be backed up in case you have to format the disc at any time after the end of the support period.

My question is does the built in Windows back up in XP when backing up the system include the installed updates? Or is it best to use third party software to do this.

I believe Windows just backs up your personal files and won't do the entire OS. You'll need a 3rd party program to do the entire HDD.

Also you really should think about upgrading to Windows 7. Staying on XP after the end support date is not recommended as you will lose security updates from Microsoft as well as patches.

So I am sitting here on my MacBook Pro which in my opinion does not have any wireless issues whatsoever, it works. I still own this ThinkPad with a garbage wireless card, and I feasted my eyes on an Intel 7260 but lo and behold, it isn't on the whitelist! Scouring eBay and Amazon I did find a FRU, but would the number of that FRU be the same on the Hardware list? Lets see, well I cannot even find it. All I get are Page Not Found errors which to me is a hilarious joke of Lenovo's support. What does this mean for me? Is my X230 at a very very unnecessary end of life? Should I like, fork out Ģ1400 for an "upgraded" model that probably won't fix most of my problems? My problems is money and saving money. Should i now look elsewhere? No, because I'd rather keep my money to actually FIX my current laptop's problems (the N2200 is a garbage card and would like to replace it with something that's up to date to todays technology but that isn't happening by the sounds of it) I am frustrated with my current laptop's problems and it's having a large effect on my studies. And possibly you can also lose customers by inadequate non-existent support and failure to give us the freedom to actually let us upgrade for those who do. For those who don't, more like.

Some how my old friend managed to upgrade my PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 with that chipset driver CD I gave him. I don't know how he did it. I would ask him but he moved to Germany. Anyway I've heard you can run the setup with Windwos Vista compatiblity mode but I don't know if it is safe. Anyone know?
 

Answer:Motherboard support CD does not support your operating system

Download the drivers from the manufacturers website. The driver CD is likely outdated anyway.

What is wrong with MS Tech Support, they say they dont support One Drive. I cannot connect to One Drive with any of my Windows phones, iPhone, or Android cell. I called tech support and they told me they are not trained to support One Drive for cell phones. I have spent lots of money on my equipment to be told they do not support it.

I have a Thinkpad T450s and it is just over a year old. It still has 3 more years of warranty. Edit: Warranty type: TPJ (This product has a four year limited warranty which includes a warranty upgrade. This product is entitled to parts and labor and is entitled to Depot service).Recently the lenovo solution center gave an critical error for the HDD (Read test failure) and I submitted an online request reporting it. Without even sending me an email or contacting me, they sent me a new part and gave me zero information about it. Apparently every other person can replace a HDD now!  I have created 3 more cases calling their tech support to send the laptop for a depo repair. Everytime the request is rejected 'at the vendor' according to the customer care. Neither the customer care people or tech support can tell me why. Every time they create a new case, tell me I will receive a depo bag nect day, and I dont receive anything, have to call depo customer care and on hold for minimum 40 minutes, only to hear that the case has been rejected they dont know why.One tech support told me now I have to send the new part back before creating a new case, otherwise it will be rejected again. but he does not know how I can send the new part back. The return label sent to me was for the faulty HDD.Can anyone help? What is the point of paying for warranty if I receive this type of service?

I have a new ASUS notebook and it uses Windows 8. On my home pc I have Windows Vista and was able to set up multiply email accounts in Window Live Mail. (my charter, my hubby charter, 2 school google accounts and yahoo)
I was able to read mail coming thru our main email acct (my charter), if an email came thru that needed to go to my hubbys account or another account I was able to drop and drag it to the other account listed on the screen.

I have most of my emails set up on my new ASUS notebook. Is there any way to drop and drag emails from one account to another? I can drag the email and hover over the new email account, but it does not drag it.

Thanks for any help. I am new to the notebook thing and windows 8.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium on my desktop..i use the windows mail program and every single day, after i send an email to a friend of mine i get a email in my junk mail folder saying:

A corrupt mail message, ID 1217875865501 from <MY EMAIL ADDRESS HERE> has been
detected.




and it only does this when i email this one person. we basically email chat.
How can i stop these notifications?!?!

My PC Dell Aurora R4 won't update properly due to it not being on the list of windows 10  creator supported drivers PC from dell. Does anyone one know if dell is going to correct this matter.
This is urgent as this leaves me as a customer vulnerable, due to the W10 System of queuing downloads and there is a security one that is waiting.
I have checked directly with Microsoft Technicians and they confirm this is the issue "No Driver support for Aurora R4 Listed, W10  Creators edition. Can dell Update an then inform us a the machines cost a pretty penny and are meant to be future proofed with drivers even without a warranty. Thank you. Dell Support "Assist" just ran without giving me an option to stop, pause, or control in anyway.  It was using nearly all computer resources (I could barely save the word document I had open at the time).  This isn't "assist" more like computer take over.

How can I control the S. "Assist"?  How can I adjust the time between it's runs (currently it looks like monthly)?  After finishing it's scan or whatever it finally closed (cuz it wouldn't close the 20 times or so I clicked the "X").  I then opened it, looking for some results of the scan, and found none.  How can I view results?

Right now, seems like worthless bloatware.

Also, there is not a [New Post] button on the Laptop Forum (at least for me).
