I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

HP Supports Assistant shows that I need Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver - sp72370 driver for my Envy 360. Before I install this driver I can see that things are a bit laggy, ofcourse I dont have graphics driver. So I install this driver and everything works fine. However, Windows Update (always) pushes an update to this driver namely Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) HD Graphics Family (This driver was provided by Intel Corporation for support of Intel(R) HD Graphics Family), and the moment the update is installed everything goes down. The laptop starts lagging, the lag is visible while opening drives and programs, especially Firefox becomes a mess. Typing becomes terribly laggy, you can shift to tabs, page opening is slow like hell.

Ony because of this lag I had to clean install Windows 10 thrice as I though that it will fix the problem. I had to run ChkDsk for quite a few times on my 750 GB HDD. But then by hit and trial I narrowed down the problem to this Update, and we all know now it cant be uninstalled either. Please help.

i have a gateway computer and i want to record some audio from my computer. i looked online how to do this and stereo mixer kept coming up. i looked in my sound and show disabled and disconnected devices are both selected and i do not see stereo mixer in the list of recording devices. can someone please help me on how to get it?

Answer:conexant high definition audio and intel(R) High Definition Audio HDMI

The Conexant HD Audio would be the device that supplies the Stereo Mixer, if Gateway enabled it. Some vendors have not enabled it to avoid DRM (Digital Rights Management) issues. I've seen a couple of Dell's that way.

Have you tried reinstalling the Gateway supplied driver? If not, give that a try first.

Gateway Support - Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / NV Series / NV54

If that does not work, unless you can find a compatible Conexant driver somewhere else you may be doomed.

It would be great if HP included some instructions in their update section to walk us through, step by step, how to install a new driver when the previous one must first be uninstalled. Most updates are just click and download. Nothing else required.  But some of us aren't all that comfortable uninstalling drivers and don't know where to begin.

Answer:Intel Bluetooth Driver update--how to uninstall current driv...

Hi, Thank you for posting. You should not uninstall previous driver prior to updating new one. In Windows 10 you can install updates via Windows Update or Device Manager (preffered method). Here is how >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03330139 For non-critical, not so important and other updates, you can also use HP Support Assistant (HPSA) >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03467905In HPSA, please skip BIOS/UEFI updates.  Hope this helps. When I try to update my Yoga 260 20FD to the latest Intel HD Graphics Drivers (build ID N1CDT27W, v 20.19.15.4444) from the support site: the install package begins by stating that it will install 20.19.4444. However, once the installer starts to run, it begins to install an older version, v. 20.19.4352. Upon re-start, Control Panel and Device Manager both confirm I'm running 20.19.4352.I have tried un-installing the existing graphics driver and restarting prior to running the upgrade package, with no success. Build IDs N1CDT27W (v 20.19.15.4444) and, previously, N1CDT23W (v 20.19.4380) both install an older version of the graphics driver (v. 20.19.4352).Does anyone have any idea what might be going on here? Thanks!

Hi: According to the specs I found regarding your notebook, it comes with the Intel/AMD switchable graphics. http://www.freecomp.net/m_pages/lapspec.aspx?a=G6-1147sx The only driver you can install is the AMD graphics driver found on your notebook's support and driver page. That is a custom driver that installs both the Intel and AMD graphics adapters. The Intel graphics driver is only for notebooks with just the Intel graphics, which is why it is not installing. Do not attempt to force the driver to install, or allow windows update to install an updated Intel graphics driver, or the switchable graphics will no longer function.

Hello,

I've got a hard time at my girlfriends pc here.
I'm actually ASHAMED to post here as i'm a ITer and usually fix stuff myself.

So..here is some back ground information:
A while back my girlfriend bought a Medion PC at the Aldi (dutch thing).
It had vista on it and she wanted xp. So I was like: sure..i'll fix it!

Installed XP everything wen't fine except for the audio drivers. But didn't had time to check that so leaved that untill today.

Today i started my search...And so far I installed 7 different drivers and NONE worked. In the meanwhile after I tested a driver to see if it worked. I used a driver cleaner to clean all the "remains".

I used:

2 Drivers found on driverguide.com
The official latest HD sound driver from realteak.com.tw
A driver found on google somewhere
The driver found at asus that fitted my motherboard
The driver at medion, they don't provide a XP driver but for some reason i could install the vista driver...didn't work.
A other driver found via google

Also to make that clear, I currently have 2 "unknown" devices in my pc:

One is called pci device with this as it's properties -> details tab (used http://pci-ids.ucw.cz/ to check)

The other one is called Multimedia Controller..now comes the REALLY weird thing! let's check properties -> details tab (used http://pci-ids.ucw.cz/iii/?i=11317133 AND http://www.pcidatabase.com/search.php?device_search_str=713... Read more

Hi All, I've been struggling for about a month.  Since I reinstalled Windows 10 Home (1067) (on a new SSD) the 100-15IBY Camera and High Definition Audio Driver has failed with Code 52 unable to verify digital signature. Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52) I've tried everything... permissions on files, bcedit command lines, downloading newer drivers from Realtek, reinstalling windows again with Legacy and then UEFI modes... disabling Secure Boot, reinstalling again with Secure Boot in "Setup - Disabled" mode... The only way to get the audio and camera to operate is to reboot in safe mode and disable the Driver Signature Enforcement - that only works for a single boot.  So I know the drivers are correct and the devices work... it's a trust issue with the drivers. The High Definition Audio one is specifically a Microsoft Driver... why wouldn't that be trusted!? Please anyone?  It must be a common problem - has anyone solved it? Tony

Hi everyone, I would be very grateful for some help please!

My laptop recently installed a BIOS update - I don't know what this was but since it happened I have been having sound problems with my laptop. After the update I had no sound. I read around and found how to get the sound back on - I did this by uninstalling AMD high definition audio device and high definition audio device. I would then restart the laptop and the sound would be working again. But when the laptop would be turned off, on turning back on it would re-install the above 2 things again automatically and the sound would no longer work.

I noticed that when the sound was working realtek high definition audio was listed under sound, video and game controllers in the device manager and when it wasn't working this wasn't there. Every time I uninstalled the AMD high definition audio device and high definition audio device the realtek one would be automatically installed when the laptop was restarted but then taken off on the next restart. I tried disabling the first 2 to see if that made any difference but it didn't. I noticed the drivers could be removed for the AMD high definition audio device so I tried that - that is now fully removed but I still have the problem with sound.

My laptop keeps automatically installing high definition audio device. When this is listed the sound doesn't work and the realtek high definition audio isn't listed. When I uninstall that - on the first restart the realte... Read more

Answer:realtek high definition audio and high definition audio device problem

First, the AMD High Definition Audio Device is ONLY for HDMI audio. It has nothing to do with the PC audio (speakers and/or headset).

Are you sure it was a BIOS update? Those are normally not automatic. The BIOS is the heart of the PC and controls the hardware configurations.

The basic Windows installed High Definition Audio Coded/Device is a generic audio driver. It can be installed for the PC audio and/or the HDMI audio. As this is a generic, basic function driver, the correct hardware driver needs to be installed.

Without the actual HP model number, I can't research what actually belongs on your PC. Apparently it is RealTek, but as it isn't functioning properly, or conflicting I still need to research the PC's specs.

I think my question is this: how do I set up VSX-1124 (a Pioneer AVR) in Control Panel/Sound and Hardware/Sound so that its driver is Realtek HD Audio and not the Intel Display Audio one?

In Device Manager under Sound, Video and game controllers, I have two sound card drivers, Realtek High Definition and Intel Display Audio. I don't understand how Realtek High Definition Audio drivers work in relation to the Intel Display Audio drivers. If I go to Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound then Playback, there are four options, as you can see from the picture below.

I'm guessing that if I choose the receiver as my default device that I'm using the Intel Display Audio drivers and any of the other three options that I'm using the Realtek drivers. Is this correct? If the receiver is the default device, everything works fine; I get sound from sites like cnn.com and I can listen to internet radio, etc. However, if Speakers are the default device, I don't get sound. Is this normal? If so, what's the reason for having Realtek? If it isn't normal, will I notice a difference if I use the Realtek drivers? If I would see/hear a difference, how do I get them to work?

Answer:Realtek High Definition Audio and Intel Display Audio

The RealTek is for the regular PC sound. The Intel Display Audio is for HDMI sound. If an HDMI cable is plugged in Windows will automatically default to the HDMI as the "default playback device". If you have an HDMI cable plugged in and want the PC sound you must manually change the playback device. If you want both HDMI and PC audio, you can't have that as Windows will only allow one default audio playback device.

Does this answer the question?

I know, most of you are probably tired of reading about the issue with CCC 10.8. But, I'm not here to talk about that so bare with me.   Since I never really have a legitimate use for the switchable graphics feature on my laptop, mostly because I am gaming and watching HD videos, there really is no need for me to use Intel HD graphics. So I was wondering, if I was to uninstall the onboard graphics using Safe Mode, then try updating my Radeon HD 5730 from the AMD website, would it cause any system instability? I am aware that this is a considerably new system so every trick on the book hasn't been tried yet. But before I try this, I've already created a system restore point to this very moment so if anything goes horribly wrong (e.g. BSOD) I can revert it. All I need is the unbiased advice of a somewhat  'experienced' person to give me a green and/or yellow light for this little experiment.     System specs are; 15.6" IdeaPad Y560Intel Core i5-450mATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 with Intel HD Integrated Graphics4GB of DDR3 RAMWindows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Answer:Can you uninstall the Intel HD Graphics drivers from Y560?

I don't know the answer, but I do know I would not trust a restore pointto get it all back if there is a problem. Got a external hard drive? Make a system image and recovery diskin Win 7, Backup and Restore. Works great for fooling around! Just my opinion.

Hi,

Recently I've noticed Chrome getting sluggish and realised that the System process was using up an unusual amount of CPU power. I took a look at it with Process Explorer and found that the culprit thread was ntoskrnl.exe!iodeletedriver. Tried doing some further probing with xperf, but symbols aren't loading properly for some reason (might shed some more light-will post back once I get this to work). I began to notice the high usage occurring when chrome was rendering pages and videos, so my first guess was the graphics driver. My laptop also has an nVidia GPU, so I tried running chrome using the GPU for rendering. Hey presto, usage went down instantly. All drivers are up to date. Anyone familiar with this thread or got any ideas for some more debugging I can try to further identify the issue? In my google searching I've come across people having similar issues with the system process, hd graphics in particular, but could not find anything about this thread. I'm going to post about it on the Intel forums soon too, just wondering if anyone here has any ideas. Cheers.

Answer:Unable to install AMD/Intel Switchable Graphics Driver

Installing generic drivers from Intel and AMD solved the problem. The drivers given on HP site are not working. This is a shame that HP cannot specify correct drivers for its own products on their site.

Hi All,
My laptop is a dell inspiron 14r N4010 which is installed on win 7. One day, all of a sudden my windows was unable to boot. I force powered off the computer and upon restarting i got an error message that a recent h/w or s/w change has caused windows unable to boot. I tried system restore but no avail. I went ahead and reinstalled Windows 7 on my laptop and i could see that upon installing the Intel Graphics driver , I started to face the same issue again. Upon startup recovery, i get the following message:
Root cause found:
"A recent driver installation or upgrade may be preventing the system from starting "
Repair action: System files integrity check and repair
Result: Failed . Error code= 0x4005

Since I've zeroed in on identifying it to be the graphics driver issue, the question is how do i get the driver installed and have my system working. Without the driver, my screen looks ugly with the 800x600 resolution.
Also, I've been usng the same driver till the day my system first crashed with this issue. Can anyone please comment on how to get over this issue?

Thanks,
Atul

I'm not entirely sure what happened to my machine, it used to work when I got it out of the box. I was able to toggle the brightness higher/lower, but now it stays maxed out. By brightness, I mean the LCD display backlight is at full brightness. I am unable to turn it down by pressing FN + Down Arrow as well. See this screenshot:http://i.imgur.com/0PfHQ9O.png Basically, whenever I try to press FN + Up or Down arrow it stays there and is unable to change. I think this is some kind of problem with Windows Drivers, as I have tried to load my Ubuntu Linux distro and was able to change the brightness there. I know it's not a hardware issue, it's most likely a software issue. I have tried re-installing my graphics drivers many times, and I know my Intel Integrated HD 3000 Graphics Driver is up-to-date. If you have any suggestions or advice, please leave a reply below. Oh, I am tech-savvy so I will be able to follow your replies, there will be no need to dumb it down for the average electronics consumer! Thanks in advance.

Question: High Definition

If i get a 8600gts which supports hd . and my monitor is kinda old.
will it still run hd.. or does my monitor have to be hd to run hd?

thanks

Answer:High Definition

HD means high definition, and since the monitor can produce that high definition, there won't be HD. You need a HD-resolution monitor to view HD imagery.

The 1GB is barely minimum even for a 32 bit OS. I don't know how much you can install on that PC but at least an additional 1GB of RAM is needed. 4GB total if it will allow.

Hi, I purchased a brand new HP 15-AY503TX Laptop a week ago. As It was Free DOS, I had to install the Windows 10 64 bit OS and Device Drivers on my own. I downloaded all the Device Drivers from this HP Website HP 15-AY503TX Windows 10 Drivers  I experienced problem installing the Intel HD Graphics Driver, it closes with the exception saying the "Hardware doen't meet the minimum Requirments". Then I installed the AMD/intel Switchable graphics, it installed successfully.  Now After Restarting, I right click and saw AMD Settings. Intel Graphics settings are missing. When I try to open the AMD Settings, It said, AMD Drivers are missing or not working properly (Later I understood that the AMD Settings wont work unless the Intel HD Graphics Driver was installed). What I did is, I installed the Windows 7 Intel HD Graphics Driver. Then updated the Drivers with Windows Update. After the Windows Update My Intel HD Graphics Driver was successfully installed and working. I can open the AMD Settings also. Now, the Laptop started to Freeze (Balck Screen with Backlight On and no response to the Inputs from Keyboard or Mouse) randomly. when using Google chrome, when scanning virus,  or any activity other than gaming. I guess this is problem with the Graphics Driver. But my question is, Why HP Provided a Driver which says that the Computer doesn't meet the minimum system Requirements?. Do I miss any Hardware in my Laptop?.  And ... Read more

I recently ditched my cablebox and subscription. I get 16 DTV channels via risking my life mounting a home made db4 onto my chimney. I've purchased a ULTRA converter which inputs toslink/digital audio and DVI-D from the PC and outputs hdmi to my plasma tv. I have an older (really old) ATI 9800 PRO video card which has 128mb onboard ram, has its own power input from the powersupply, and outputs DVI-I (both analog and digital).

I've also purchased a good pc tv tuner (ATSC) which I will be able to use my PC as a dvr and watch anything on my plasma from online or recorded.

What will be the real quality of streaming video, say from a network show that has full episodes online in supposed "high definition," compared to live hd from an actual hd cable box? I'm wondering if it will actually be high def coming from the pc, from the internet...

Hello Everyone

My girlfriend bought me a new computer as the last one decided to die on me. I have had this new one now for around a month .. its not a massively high tech machine .. with really sophisticated graphics cards an stuff .. but its doe's the trick for keeping me in touch with the outiside world .. tho I do have a problem with I think is the sound card/driver .. I am not a total computer boffin who knows alot of deep in theory stuff about computers .. but I would like to think I know my fair share .. anyway the problem is that I get quite alot of crackling noises from my speakers everytime I play my music via my windows media player .. so naturally I did alittle research on the net .. when I came across a site that had the option to download AUDIGY SOUND CARD DRIVERS .. which solves crackling sound problems .. downloading from the mirror option was great .. but when I tried to open it via a burning programme called>> ImgBurn .. well ImgBurn just kept prompting me that the file was an>> invalid or unsupported image file format .. the iso being>> SBAXWXCD .. even when I downloaded the ImgBurn programme .. well with the actual download .. there was a step by step picture/text tutorial of how to load up the iso file properly .. so I knew that I did everything the right way .. but after a few attempts I just gave up .. hence>> invalid or unsupported image file format .. then I came across this site and found the option to download>>... I don't really know where to post this but i do run windows vista so i suppose here will have to do,
all right here goes, i have a new pc with a 9800 gtx oc graphics card and a 37 inch full hd(1080p) LG tv, i have found i get a better picture connecting to the tv via dvi-vga rather than dvi-hdmi strangely enough, anyway, the point is i have downloaded some hd content in mkv format, some at 720p and some at 1080p and both look really good and much superior than dvd but not as good as i believe it should be, i use vlc player to playback video.
Is there something I am missing? At a friends house I watched a football match in hd(720p) and it was amazing, so, any ideas on what i need to do to get optimal hd quality?

Am aware that HD technology has been around for a while in Japan and USA but soon it is to hit the UK, with Sky broadcasting next year. Also conscious that different formats are being produced.I understand that most current TVs (plasma, LCD etc) will be unable to utilise the technology since a dedicated socket is required. But what about CD/DVD formats ?Are the current various recorders/rewriters and players also going to be obsolete ?Since the technology is not new, have manufacturers started to produce products to accomdate this new revolution ?Any feedback would be gratefully received.

Hello,

I was wondering if there was any such program from IDT for High Definition Audio for my computer. The program I am trying to find allows you to adjust (referred to as an equalizer) the sound, for example like the one built-into Windows Media Player, as well as enhance the overall sound (by giving more control over microphones such as boost, etc). On my desktop, there is a similar program called Intel Audio Studio if that helps to describe the program more sufficiently.

My computer is the HP Mini 1000 and it is currently running Windows XP Home. Thanks.

My problem is that afer installing the Beats Audio software I get low quality sound, but it was necessary for me to install Beats, because my main notebook speaker was not working without it. I really enjoy the generic  Windows driver when I use headphones, the quality is really great. However, Beats audio does not fit my needs when using headphones but if I uninstall it I cant hear sound from my main speaker. Is it possible to play sound throught headphones using generic drivers and Beats audio when watching movie without headphones?

I want to run Solidworks, and some graphics software (Illustrator etc). So on the face of it a WUXGA display at 1920x1200 sounds great - but I have heard some doubts about this.My current display is set at 1600x1200 pixels so does this mean that I should want the WUXGA 1920x1200 format? Trouble is you can't see examples working side by side anywhere. So any practical advice/real world experience?

I have to update my Sigmatel Driver sooner or later, but in the mean time I'm having a little trouble with my codec.

on my sound in my control panel, on my playback tab it says my speakers are working
IDT High Definition CODEC

and that's all

on my recording tab, it says my microphone is disabled, but I don't have a microphone so that's not an issue.
IDT High Definition CODEC

it says my Line in is currently unavailable
IDT High Definition CODEC

it says my stereo mix is currently unavailable
IDT High Definition CODEC

on my sound tab it says no testing available (greyed out)

I would like to get my sound working before the weekend is all.

I am close by if you need more info, but tell me how to get it. Most of this is new.

My PC is a Windows 10 with 2 internal drives (C:, H:) and 2 external drives (D:, F:, G:). I have various shares setup across all the drives so I can access them remotely on our home network.

From my Android 7, using ES File Explore, I can access shares on D:, F: and G: but not H:. I eventually found a security error so I backed up the files to another external drive, reformatted drive H: and restored files. I then recreated the 3 shares.

The problem only exists when trying to access these shares from ES File Explorer on my Android 7.

I get the error message:

Login fails
This may be caused by:
- WLAN is off
- SMB server is out of network space
- The IP is invalid
- Blocked by the firewall
- SMB service is off

Since I am able to access all the other shared directories I know it is specific to just this one internal hard drive. I have no problems when I use any other Windows 10 device on our LAN or even my old iPhone (which I use like a tablet and not a phone).

I have been struggling with this problem for a VERY long time and am utterly frustrated. I really hope someone can help me.

Hi, after a restart of my laptop (Dell Inspiron) the audio wasn't working, I hovered in the tool bar and the sound was with a red X meaning problematic, I clicked it and the window started searching for the problem which was IDT High Definition Audio Codec, I continued by clicking the windows to solve it, but it didn't and the problem remained.
In the msinfo32-->Componets-->Problem Devices it says IDT High Definition Audio Codec error code 39, I don't know what that means, I downloaded a new driver but it was a rar file, I extract it and they were some componets similar to IDT but I don't know what to do, I clicked the setup but it didn't do anything or any other applicaton in that folder.
Please a little help as I can't seem to find any solution, neither restarting solves the problem neither pressing again and again for windows to automatic solve the problem, tech specs are windows 7 ultimate 32b and laptop Dell Inspiron.

I have purchased a High Definition Aiptek camcorder but am struggling to find a suitable Windows video editing program which will recognise and import the .mov files which the camera creates.I normally use Windows Movie Maker or Ulead VideoStudio but neither of these programs recognise the format, which Windows Explorer describes as NSmov.I am using WinXP.

Answer:High Definition Video Files

convert to AVI they will play in Windows Movie Maker then, .MOV is a quicktime formatclick here

Anyone know the answer to this one? HIGH DEFINITION
Hello again everyone,
i am unsure if any of you will know the answer to this one so here goes.

I have a 9 month old baby and want to purchase a High Definition camcorder but i am unsure of when i store the video files from the camcorder to my PC if windows vista can pump out high definition video footage on to my large screen television.

I currently have my computer set up to my 46 inch LCD television and the picture quality is absolutely brilliant but just want to know as to when i save a video file from the camcorder to pc if vista can produce high definition pictures to my television.

Hope some of you understand my question and can give me some advice.

Emma

Answer:High Definition Pictures Camcorder

Hi-def (1080p) is no problem for Vista or any modern OS as long as the system (especially the processor and video card) has enough power to handle the video files in real time. If you're running 1920x1200 on the 46 inch LCD right now without any slowdowns while multitasking chances are good you have that covered.

Format compatibility between a recorded video file from a HD camcorder and something on the Vista machine that can play it should be less and less of an issue unless you are depending on particular software to play the files such as Windows Media Center which is probably more restrictive as to which formats it is compatible with. In such a case you would have to use a conversion program to change the format to one that was compatible.

I convert everything to divx or xvid-avi (so I can readily make it into a downscaled DVD if desired) and play 1080p (some, not all, most is just 720p which also looks very good) on a 42 inch LCD with VLC Media Player ( a player with lower system resource requirements than most players) using a 512 mb video card, 2.4 Ghz single processor and XP PRO and it works brilliantly and flawlessly.

In your case it might be as simple as saving the camcorder file onto the Vista machine and playing it with a player that can handle the file if all you need is playback to a large screen in hi-def.

After re-downloading Realtek Audio to my new hard drive, it did not include the "playback equalization" feature that was in the original software. This feature allows all music played on my WMP to be heard at the same volume level. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You,

Michael

Hello my problem is that my new hp envy m6-1225dx is not giving out audio output when a headset is connected, however the external speakers are working perfectly.
A close observation show that under the device manager, the audio playback icon for headset does not change its settings automatically to default device as it should normally do, but instead the external speakers remain the default device while the headphone remains on default communication device.
An attempt to change this settings manually when headphone is connected proves abortive, also an attempt to update the drive also says the the installed drive is the latest for my system, pls help me out!

Answer:AMD high definition device not plugged in

Thank you for the additional information. What is the make / model of the monitor with the speakers?  You may want to reinstall the original driver for the sound device.  It may be a glich that occurred when it was being moved. I suggest contacting the person who had the computer to see what they may have done that could cause the problem.

Hello,I've been having quite a problem with my laptop.Upon being turned on, the built-in speakers will play sound for a few minutes before cutting off. I've cornered 3 reasons that trigger it:1. Naturally, after anywhere between a couple of seconds and ~5 minutes2. Plugging anything into the jack.3. Switching the media being played, say, click on another youtube video, play another track from iTunes, etc.I had found a temporary solution to the problem which was to use a bluetooth speaker, which's sound, I suppose, relied on a different device/driver to work proprely. In addition, I had to have one media file playing continuously, with or without audio, for the sound not to abruptly cut off when I decided to play any other video or listen to any other music (Trigger reason 3). Hence, the first tab I had to open was a 24h Nyan Cat video, that I let roll on minimum volume whilst I did other things. Bear in mind this 'solution' was necessary  to the bluetooth speakers functioning, and USB headsets work the same way.It does not work at all on the built-in speakers or on any playback device plugged into the jack.I've tried... so many different things.  It's been about 6 months since this awfully frustrating problem began. High.
In my add\remove programs window is a High Definition Audio Driver Package. It has after it, kb888111. Is this just an update patch from microsoft?
I ask because that's all there is.
I can't find where the driver itself is installed. It looks like an update, without a program. If i need these drivers, where could i get them?

Hi,

I'm getting the following message:

'Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device'...

It appears that the High Definition Audio Controller is having a problem installing (The System cannot find the file specified).

I have tried downloading the latest driver, but it still doesn't appear to install.

Does anyone know of a way to solve this - I've tried a lot of different things, but I still get the message that there is 'No Audio Output Device is Installed'.

Thanks,
Gub

Answer:High Definition Audio Controller

Hi Gub,

I'm assuming that this is onboard audio. Check in Device Manager to see if your audio device is listed under Sound, video and game controllers. Double click on the audio device and see what it says in Device status.

You might also check in your BIOS to make sure that the onboard audio is enabled.
