I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

would be great if the right click on my synaptic touchpad worked. Was fine until I moved from win7 to win 10.

Answer:right click on my synaptic touchpad doesn't work

If the touchpad works (not defective), and only started the behavior since moving to 10, then I would guess it is a problem with the touchpad driver.

It could be due to the wrong driver being installed, a corrupted driver installation, or a driver conflict.
Since the generic Windows 10 touchpad driver seems to work well with Synaptics hardware for most folks, we can start with a bad driver install.

The first thing to try is to go into Device Manager and uninstall the touchpad. If asked to remove the driver also, do so. Then restart the laptop and the touchpad will be reinstalled with the same driver. Test.

Otherwise, go to the laptop manufacturer's website and find the most recent driver offered there for your touchpad. Try and install that driver and test.

The previous driver allowed for edge scrolling but latest version does not have the capability.I understand for those upgrading to Windows 8 with touch screen capability this is not an issue but what about us who do not have touch screen. In my opinion this is a major flaw. Please let me hear form you if you too are unhappy about the new Windows 8 Touch pad driver. By the way, I tried rolling the driver back but the previous driver causes serious erratic behavior. Below is a screen shot of the version for the newest Windows 8 Touch Pad driver.

This problem appears on Windows 8.1

Answer:[Dell touchpad] one finger scrolling feature missing on Windows 8 doesn't work

Try this:
1) Go into c:\program files\DellTPad\
2) In this dir I have
  a)  DellTouchpad.exe: this is the app called from control panel whose picture you posted.
  b)  DellTPad.exe alternate utility to set touchpad setting. When launching this I have this option (translating into english) "one finger actions/multi-finger actions", and then it allows you to set single finger vertical/horizontal scrolling.

The Touchpad gives no action, but the USB mouse (Genius) works perfect. Reloaded the driver of the touchpad. Not solving problem.
What can I do ?

Answer:Touchpad doesn’t work on A30

HI Heidrun,

I believe there is an option on the A30 to disable/enable the touchpad. I think it may be FN + 9 but I am not entirely certain (I don't have my A30 with me at the moment).

Hi Team, When I am using my laptop while sitting on a couch, it seems to get warm really easily and then the touchpad seems to stop working. It operates very funny and tries to change the screen size. I have to reset the Synaptics pointing devices everytime it hangs. If I keep it on a stand or hard cover, then it seems to work better and it barely hangs. Would you know as to why that happens frequently as I travel a lot and can't find a support to put in underneath everytime. Thanks for your help. Regards Sidd

Hello, To begin, sorry for my  english, it's not my native language. I have bigs problems with the touchpad of my VN7 for weeks. Indeed, at the beginning, i used my laptop and suddendly my touchpad stopped to work without reasons. When i rebooted my laptop, the touchpad worked during a few minutes then it didn't work again. I've upgraded my laptop on windows 10 and i've downloaded the last drivers but the issues were the same. Actually, the touchpad doesn't work at all even if it's detected in the control panel. I have to use my mouse to continue to use my laptop. I don't know what to do and i'm desperate. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello everyone.

Recently, I did a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium on my MSI GE600. At first, the touchpad behaved the way it should. But now, it is not even detected. I rebooted the laptop and it worked again. Most of the time it doesn?t work though.

I have installed the Elantech driver of the MSI site, so I?d like to know what you think the problem is and how to fix it.

Thank you so much in advance.

Answer:Touchpad often doesn't work

I have recently dealt with this same issue on an Asus laptop. The touchpad does not function correctly, but the issue is sporadic. A USB mouse works fine.

The first thing I needed to determine was if this was a hardware problem or a software problem (OS or Drivers).

So what I did was wait until the touchpad stopped working and then rebooted with a Linux Ubuntu USB stick connected. Booting into Ubuntu I found the touchpad still did not respond. This told me that the problem was hardware. The touchpad has to be replaced.

So that is what I would suggest. You need to know what kind of problem you are dealing with so you know in which direction to focus your efforts.

Answer:VN7-791 touchpad doesn't work

Hi, Probably the question is stupid, but I give a try. In Settings, Devices, Mouse and Touchpad do you have the setting "Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected" off?If yes, try to disconnect all the USB devices from your PC and try to see if the touchpad is working. If not try to see if FN+F7 will help, but I don't really expect to help. Also, you could try to turn off the mentioned settings. Not the last, in device manager isn't your touchpad by mistake disabled or has a yellow exclamation mark?

Hello.

I've got a VAIO VGN FE11M.
My touchpad doesn't work since yesterday.
It's really weird because I checked it in my device manager and it says that everything is okay.
Now I've reinstalled my whole computer because I thought that it doesn't work because of the drivers.
It still doesn't work.

Can anyone help me?

Well i have an Acer Aspire E5-511P, yeah i know its a cheap system. I had a Dell Inspiron1720 that lasted about ten years, and still have. Anyway on my Acer something happened after i bought, Acer doesn't do anyhting about it, and its a major problem they have. Either there was a windows update somewhere that stopped my Touchpad from working. Is there a way to find out what touchpad i have inside. I downloaded a driver someone put on Acer forums, but that doesn't seem to fix the problem. Any ideas, can i get another touchpad installed maybe something better. Or does someone have an idea on how to fix this. I am also using windows 8.1

Is the touchpad showing in Device Manager? If it does, is it shown as a problem device - yellow question or exclamation mark?

I don't get why my touchpad doesn't work when I unplug or turn off my mouse. I found all the settings. I realize I may get an answer I don't want. Download drivers etc..

I can live with this problem (unless I suddenly don't have my other laptop), especially after spending the night searching for, downloading and installing drivers for my other laptop. I was surprised to find that the windows 7 professional (my home machine is windows 7 home) didn't provide me with network and other drivers. I wasn't seeing any wireless connections. Initially I was using an internet stick and the problem wasn't visible. I take that machine out with me. I had it home last night and that's when I found the problem. And trying to get that touchpad driver had me wondering about this one. I don't use my laptop keyboard on my home machine, preferring a natural contour full keyboard I plug in, so I never deal with the touchpad, otherwise I'd be hitting it all the time, which I used to do. I am a mouse guy. If I had to to take this machine out, the touchpad thing would drive me nuts. Any thoughts?

Answer:Touchpad doesn't work

Hi Aarby,

Some computers have keyboard shortcuts which could be a separate key on the keypad or a combination of the Fn + any other Function key depending on the system model for enabling or disabling the touchpad. Since you have not mentioned the system model of your computer, some steps you may try are:

1.Go to Control Panel > Mouse > Device Settings>Click Enable (if disabled).

2.Check under Mouse Properties in Control Panel>Hardware>Mouse. There may be a check-box for Disable Touchpad/Pointing Stick when external USB mouse is present. If this is checked and you connect an external mouse to your laptop, the touchpad may be disabled.

Additionally, we recommend you check the system manual or try some of the steps mentioned in the link below.

Hope this helps resolve the issue. Please reply if you have further queries.

Note to Admin: I think this is the operating system itself, as I remember there have been updates inbetween (and after). If this is some sort of virus, I apologize and please move to appropriate thread.

On my HP PC with windows 8.1 I've always been able to just log in. The last 2 days though, the touchpad/keyboard won't react (so I can't insert my password) when I first start the computer. When I then command "restart" (with the mouse, which does work), I get the same loginscreen but this time I can use my touchpad/keyboard.

So this problem is manageble (just always restart after just havign started the computer ), but I would like to understand why it goes wrong at the initial start up. Any ideas?

I have a HP 15-ay083TU laptop with Windows 10.The right click button on my touchpad has suddenly stopped working.I checked the synaptics touchpad settings and the two finger scrolling feature is enabled.

Answer:Right click doesn't work on touchpad

Welcome to the TenForums

First off create a restore point.

Within the settings for Synaptics, at least on mine, there is a restore all defaults, have you tried this. To isolate it is a Touchpad issue, and not something in Windows, do you have access to a mouse. Do right clicks work on a mouse?

If you go to device manager and find your device and look at driver, is the Roll Back driver greyed out. If so you can't roll back but if it is enabled you might want to try rolling back.

Hello! So yesterday morning my laptop completely shut down and I couldn't figure out what was happening. I had things to do, so I left it. When I came home, I opened it up and found out that the entire thing had been updated to Windows 10, and I don't know how since I never gave permission. Anyways, I figured there was nothing I could do so I got over it. But as the day went on, I discovered that my touchpad doesn't work whatsoever. I searched this problem and heard that I'm supposed to tick scrolling off in settings. Since then, two finger scrolling works, but NOTHING ELSE (even though all the boxes are ticked). This is very frustrating because I now can only use my laptop with a mouse, which means it's basically a computer for the time being. Please help! Thank you!

I got this laptop in 2014 (It had windows 8 or 8.1 on it at the time ofc) Then I upgraded to windows 10 and for about a year it was fine but then it broke for unrelated reasons. Not hardware reasons though. And I forgot about it, then I decided to install Linux mint to it and it worked fine. Then I decide to go back to windows 10 and the touchpad didn't work. So I went to linux again. Repeat x5 and now I'm at #6 and it still doesn't work! And it works on linux perfectly!

Hi,

if your touchpad is not shown in device manager there are two possibilities. If there is shown an unknown device you have to reinstall the driver. If not there must be a hardware problem that has to be solved by service.

My problem is that ever since I upgraded to Windows 10 (and chose not to keep your pre-installed mess and unwanted antivirus software) I haven't been able to get my touchpad working.  EDIT:It seems to me that your search function for the site was bugged, the first time I used your tool to copy and paste my Serial Number the tool wouldn't find the model. As of now, I still don't get any search results when searching for "ES1-331" on the site (using Google Chrome). It's extremely frustrating that a simple search for the model doesn't show up any results, and that in some cases you are directed to a "buying" page, instead of a support/drivers page. I'm still confused as to how the site works, fix this please! I've already done the following:-Windows Update (Up to date)-Fn+F7 hotkey to enable/disable the touchpad Regardless, I've managed to install the touchpad drivers for Windows 10 before the download site went down. Installed for the correct OS (Windows 10 x64) rebooted, tried Fn+F7 combination, touchpad still didn't work. EDIT2: I finally managed to get it working, I still don't know exactly what I needed, but I installed a few of the drivers I found on the site for the model. Drivers found at www.acer.se/ac/sv/SE/content/drivers/-;YOURSERIALNUMBERHERE For those with the same issue, try installing both Touchpad drivers (Elantech and synaptics) as well as the IO, Chipset, TXE drivers. Cannot use touchpad and keypad at the same time. Shift keys are the only keys I can use at the same time as touchpad. Everytime I diable smartsense it turns itself back on when I go back into settings. This doesn't matter as it does not work anyway, it continues to disable touchpad when using keypad regardless of smartsense being on or off.   Also changed general settings so there is no delay and toucpad is always on, doesnt make a differnce either way.

Answer:Satellite C70-B - Touchpad doesn't work

Hello

On this virtual way it is not easy to say for sure what the problem is but I cannot imagine that touchpad is defective after short period of time. Although, everything is possible.

Please check in device manager if touchpad is properly installed and listed there.
If there is everything OK, be sure touchpad is enabled properly. Check please FN+F5 key combination.

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Lenovo Community,

Am sorry to hear about your issue,

I?d like to ask you to press on FN + F6 together to make sure that the touchpad is enabled if still the same,

Maybe you can try to start the recovery for the system through the one key recovery button which is going to return the machine back to the initial state like a new machine,

But please take a backup from your data before starting in the recovery and please check the below link for the One key recovery:

Hey fellas..

I have Toshiba Satellite L40-18W, bought from middle east and unfortunately its touch pad isn't working.. I checked and rechecked every possible place if anything is disabled or not properly configured but found nothing.

As there were quite a few errors in the OS I formatted my hard disk and installed WXP Prof, installed all the drivers but the touch pad still ain't working. I am very confused as before and after formatting the pointer moves a little when I use the touch pad at the beginning of start up???

The best check is to install operating system with original Toshiba recovery image and test it with ?factory settings?. In this case touchpad should work properly. If not contact the service and let them check your notebook.

As it said in the title of the topic my touchpad does not work any more, Does not show in deviece manger any more.It all starts after Windows 10 doing an update for the older driver of the touchpad. The version that windows installed is Elan 11.5. So the problem was after the instalation of that version the touch pad start to behave strangely like not working for few seconds, lagging , jupming all over. So what i did first is to roll back to the older version from the device manger. The version of the driver after going back was Elan 11.4.64All goes well until i restart my laptop the touchpad doen't work any more and the keyboard too. From there i did alot of install uninstall of alots of driver with no luck.NB: The touchpad does not show in the devices manager all along this install uninstall processThen i found this method that makes my touch Pad works for 2 hours before it start the problem all over again from the begining. The methods that manged to make it work was:      -Uninstall of the driver      -Restart      -End all process related to Elantech      -Delete all forlders related to elantech in the register      -Delete the folder related to Elantech located in C:/programme/Elantech      -Doing a clean instalationBut this method doen't work any more, i don't know why and the touchpad does not show in the device manager even as unkown deviceSo please ANY HELP IS... Answer:Y510p Elan Touchpad doesn't work any more

Dear SirWelcome to Lenovo Community Would you please try to go back to the previous windows version, if it works so there is no compatibilty between the driver & windows 10 & you must wait any new update for this driver, if its still not working so you should go to the service center maybe you have a hardware issue. Best Of Luck

Hi,

FN+F9 doesn't seem to work (touchpad is always active). I have drivers for alps touchpad.
Every other FN key is working currently. I've seen other replies on that matter and all seem to have solutions that are model related.

Answer:Qosmio F50 - lock touchpad doesn't work

I recommend you to remove Value Added Package from the system.
After doing this restart your notebook and install latest version from Toshiba support and download page.

You can find it under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > version 1.1.19

Hi, I just bought a new Lenovo U31-70 with Windows 10 already installed on it. There is a problem with the double tap feature, it doesn't work. The feature is enable in the option. This model of Lenovo has Alps touchpad driver and I'm not able to find on regedit where to enable the double tap, this workaround instead works if you have Synaptics drivers. Who can help me?

Answer:Satellite Pro M30-701: TouchPad doesn't work after XP Pro installation

HI Jorge,

If you have re-installed your system using the Toshiba recovery discs then the touchpad should have the correct drivers and be fully functional. I seem to recall that it is possible to disable the touchpad using one of the 'hot-keys' (F9 on my SA30) so check that this has not been inadvertantly pressed.

Hello,

few days ago I noticed that my touchpad of my L300 does not work any more. I preferably work with USB mouse but need touchpad also. My System (Vista) tells that the touchpad is aktivated and is working. I have already deactivated and activated the touchpad again and I have also actualized the touchpad driver all that without any success.

Can anybody give an advice?

Thanks
Bertram

Answer:Touchpad doesn't work on Satellite L300

I rely on the touchpad as I don't use a mouse and in the few days that I have had my L350D I have experienced touchpad problems several times.

~The scroll function will suddenly stop working and, on some occasions the enter key on the keyboard will stop working too. However the left touchpad key continues to work.

Changing pages, starting a second browser window, or just changing to a new application can trigger this.

I can't be exact about remedy, but going into the touchpad control settings and changing them sometimes works as does restarting the laptop. Once having to leave it off for a while was necessary.

I don't feel that this is a problem with the laptop, so much as a problem with Vista, as I have experienced similar problems in the past with a High-Grade laptop, where the touchpad settings would seemigly take it upon themselves to change for no apparent reason.

I updated my computer about 1/2 weeks ago and the 2 touch scroll feature doesn't work. I went to advanced touchpad settings to see if I could fix it there but the results were that it is on. I went to check if maybe I did it wrong and sure enough it still
didn't work at all. Can you please either give me a step by step guide on fixing this or a link to a bit of software that fixes this?
And yes the touchpad is up to date, the system won't even let me click it.

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with a fresh install of the operating system. Which unit are you referring to so we can try and narrow this down a bit?

Also, did you reinstall using the internal media or recovery software you made or purchased from Acer, or did you install a non-OEM copy?

Answer:Lenovo Y510P touchpad doesn't work at all

hi cocopops12,

From your findings, it does look like the touchpad is faulty. To verify, can you please consider doing the following:
1. Shutdown the machine and press the OneKey Recovery (OKR) button. On the Novo Menu, select System Recovery
   - Link to picture

2. On the System Recovery menu, try to use the Touchpad and see if it moves.

If the Touchpad still doesn't move even in the System Recovery screen then it's likely the the Touchpad is showing signs of failure. In this case, I recommend you contact lenovo and report your findings as you may need to send the unit for service to replace the Touchpad.

Hi

I?m afraid; I don?t understand what you want to do :(
Do you want to enable the touchpad or what? Please post more details

You can enable and disable the touchpad with the FN+F9
If you want to change some touchpad settings so I would recommend entering the Mouse option in the control panel.
There you could find the touchpad properties.
In the properties you should be able to find necessary touchpad settings.

If it worked for a couple minutes when you were using it, and now it does not even after reinstalling the operating system, there could be a hardware problem that requires a service. You would need to contact the Acer technical support in your area to see what options are available to you.

I have tried to install the drivers from Lenovo's website, without luck, tried installing the generic drivers, same result, i even tried to install the "Intelligent TouchPad" pakage for Windows 7, but still nothing... Everything but the four fingers gesture is working fine, so i dont know what to do... Hi all

I bought this brand new laptop in September. When using the mousepad I find that rather than the cursor always moving as expected, it sometimes magnifies the screen, I.e, it zooms. I have to press the escape button to make the cursor move again (after pinching the touchpad to bring the screen back to size). I thought maybe it was just me not being used to the touchpad but my wife says it annoys her too. I've hardly used the laptop so do you think it's faulty? Would this be covered by the warranty? It is very, very annoying.

Thanks in advance for any help

Paul

Answer:Touchpad doesn't work after Windows 10 Anniversary...

OMG, i don't know if i should be happy that i found a solution (in a very random way) or sad that after almost a year acer didnt come out with this solution. And it was a pretty easy one.Well, honestly in last month i was forgetting about all this touchpad nonsense, mainly because i was using Linux anyway, but last days i really wanted to solve this problem, lol! After installing all kind of apps, softwares, firmwares,...lol you guys have no idea what i tried (of course i created a Restore Point before messing around with the pc, just in case)...i decided to try ("why not" i thought at this point ) even the oldest W8.1 drivers, from the Download page here for my E 13 model...BAM! It works! and be aware, i'm not talking about the "basic" set on bios touchpad, no, i mean the proper multi touch "advance" touchpad! Like it supposed to be! YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHH! So, to sum up: Guys, i know it sounds weird, but YOU HAVE TO INSTALL THE OLD W8.1 IO DRIVERS IN THE W10 ANNIVERSARY EDITION!In my case, i have a Aspire ES1-311 so i used the old IO Drivers_Intel_603.9600.1948.29470_W81x64For Windows 8.1.Don't know for other R- and S- Aspire series but please spread the word, maybe this solution could apply also to them!

Hi all i need help urgently because this is driving me crazy. First of all, i am using XP PRO. My laptop is fairly new, only about 4 months old, i've had no problem with it at all. I formatted my laptop yesterday and reinstalled all the drivers which i downloaded here:

http://www.isd.toshiba.com.au

and everything works fine except the touchpad. I've already installed Common Module, Touchpad On/Off utility and i have the latest BIOS installed and reset all settings to default, and i made sure that the touchpad option is enabled in the BIOS, as well as pressing FN+F9 to enable it during Windows.

I have installed the latest Synpatics touchpad driver which i downloaded from the Synaptics homepage. But for some reason it just doesn't work, i don't know what's wrong here. My touchpad worked before i formatted my laptop, it worked fine and never had any problem. Please tell me what's wrong because i need to use my touchpad sometimes as well so i can't use a mouse all the time.

It's quite possible the touchpad is not working since you opened the system to reseat the motherboard battery. It could be the BIOS on this product did not include the flag for the touchpad. Unfortunately we cannot provide repair information but to rule out a software problem we would suggest you restore the system back to factory configurations via eRecovery utility. If at that point the touchpad still doesn't work, we would recommend repair.

This also only happens on Windows 7 from what I can tell, as I dual-boot with Ubuntu and Ubuntu has never given me this problem before. I can also use safe mode with Windows 7 and have the touchpad function fine all the time.

If I look into the device manager when the touchpad is unresponsive, it will say that the PS/2 mouse failed to start.

I've updated it to the most recent driver as found here:

But this problem still persists. Any ideas how I can figure out what's wrong?

First at all, sorry for my bad English.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro C50-A-153, the problem is his Touch pad, doesn't work correctly, the mouse doesn't move and when i move the finger on the pad, it seems like if i were rolling the bar "or the mouse wheel".

Sometimes, the "mouse" works correctly for a 20seconds, and after, again the same. External mouse works fine.

There's not the problem of "Fn" functions. I tried to shutdown, put off the battery and press the power button for 50seconds. I tried too to uninstall the Drivers from the Touchpad, and i think i have tried to change all the properties on the "Control Panel - Mouse".

Anybody can help me with that?

Thank you.

Answer:Satellite Pro C50-A-153 - Touchpad doesn't work correctly

On most Toshiba notebooks is installed Synaptics touchpad driver. With this driver there are available additional touchpad settings. try please to change these settings and disable all functions that you don?t need.

How to do this you can read on https://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD3101Z30000R01.htm

Answer:z 50 75 pressing keyboard touchpad doesn't work

I have the same problem with a Y50-70 and ELAN Touchpad/driver too. It has been sold to me as a gaming Laptop and now one major functionality you need for gaming doesn't work - what a mess. I spend hours in the Internet reading hundreds of articles from people with the same issue.1. Solution: Disable the Palmcheck function but unfortunately the ELAN SW doesn' provide this option.2. Solution: Change the Touchpad sensibility (some say max, some min) - neither works with the ELAN driver.3. Solution: Go into the Registry (regedit) and change parameter (DisableWhenType_Enable and DisableWhenType_DelayTime_Move in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elantech\SmartPad\), to 0 with Regedit. Didn't work for me too. 4. Solution: Uninstall the ELAN driver qnd let Windows install a generic PS2 one during re-boot. This finally did it for me, however you are losing all the additional functionality of your Touchpad and can onlwy move the cursor plus right/left click. No zoom; no scroll, no multiple finger functionality anymore. So be it, I bought the Laptop for Gaming. I'm pretty disappointed about this but hope there will be better driver coming out soon.

I checked in the BIOS and the touchpad is activated
I tried to deinstall the driver and reinstall it from toshiba website with no sucess

Hi, i have a brandnew Thinkpad Edge 13" (NV13CGE). Windows 7 Professional was installed. I installed Ubuntu 10.10 too. Ater 2 days of working with the new notebook suddenly doesnt work anymore. So i have tried to install gpointing-device-settings under ubuntu. But it seems that the operatingsystem does not recoginse the trackball. Same under Windows 7. I tried to reinstall the driver with the latest version from the lenovo support site. But windows 7 too does not recognise the hardware. After this i thought about a connection problem of the cable. I opened the laptop like its described on the lenovo website und removed the keyboard. And then i inserted it again correctly and did a bios reset. But even after this, on both operating systems no trackball is recognised. What else can i do? I have a programming intense job and sold my last notebook the day before my new one arrived. So i'm not fine with sending it away because simply i really need it... Now im working with a normal usb mouse. but this is not so nice...  Thanks for every advice and support! Kind regards, Rain

My mom has a Acer 5102. The touchpad and keyboard don't work on the laptop. I tried plugging in a mouse to the USB and that didn't work either. All I want to do is back up my files to an external hard drive but I can't do it without a keyboard or the touchpad. I tried doing FN + F7, and FN + F6, and even FN + F7 + ALT. I heard those key combinations work, but it didn't in my case. Also, she said at first the OS wouldn't boot for a couple days, but now it boots but the keyboard and touchpad doesn't work. Does anyone know what the problem could be?wee

Answer:ACER Keyboard and touchpad doesn't work

Try http://www.laptoprepair101.com for a good desciption on how to disassemble a laptop.Be VERY careful when disassembling. They are fragile and the connections are short. The ribbon cable under the keyboard might be the problem although the USB connections are integrated on the motherboard and with your earlier problems might point to that as the cause.

Hi, My ThinkPad TouchPad has stopped working. I've tried installing the UltraNav driver, only to get the following message in the end of the installer: "This Synaptics pointing device driver package does not support one or more of your pointing devices and will not be installed on those devices. Please contact your OEM for a correct driver package" The TrackPoint works, but it is really not ideal for me. I've also tried to install the latest driver from Synaptics only to get the TrackPoint working. I could then update the driver using Windows driver update, pointing it at the UltraNav files, but it only installed the TrackPoint driver??? It seems that the TouchPad is dead, how can it be reinvoked? Even the buttons of TouchPad are not working. Running latest updates from ThinkVantage System Update . Please advice

Did you ever find the reset option for the Lenovo t60p? I know there is a series of keys you can press but I do know remember the specific ones. Thanks

My daughter's laptop touch pad on her Acer started to play up at odd times and she has now worked out it is when she uses it whilst it's plugged in and charging. Does anyone know why this may be happening? I will post details of model etc if relevant but sounds like a generic kind of problem to me? Basically stops working whilst plugged in but works perfectly on battery. Thanks in advance to anyone who may have seen this before and can advise me.

Hey,

I opened some time ago following thread:
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=228228&#228228

I installed the driver. It worked for some time.

After a few restarts - the same error is back.

No scrolling (no matter with 1 or 2 fingers), or other special functions of the pad were more possible. :(

Can someone tell me why the problem occurs? And why again and again if I did it once fixed?
What can I do to ensure that the problem is solved for every time?

I hope, you can help me.. ;) Thanks!!

Answer:Touchpad doesn't work properly on Satellite A500

Hi

The touchpad special functions can be configured in the control panel -> mouse -> device settings -> settings button
There you can enable and disable all possible touchpad features like scrolling, tapping, etc?
Of course the touchpad driver has to be installed properly.

I don?t know why this happened again, but in most cases different updates (Microsoft updates) or other preinstalled software could cause this?

I have a Sat Pro L20.
When i press the right button on the touchpad, nothing happens. The Left button works fine.
I have checked in the Mouse properties that the left button is set as the primary click and the right button set as secondary click.

Thanks.

Answer:Satellite Pro L20 - right hand button on touchpad doesn't work

Hi

Maybe the touchpad button has a physical malfunction.
But firstly you could try to reinstall the touchpad driver. Check if the reinstallation will change something. But telling the truth; I don?t think that this will solve the problem. Anyway, trying is for free, you know.

But if this will not help so I think you have to replace the touchpad.

Answer:Touchpad scrolling doesn't work after Windows 10 upgrade

I don’t know what notebook model you have but fact is that not all notebook series are supported for Win 10 upgrade.
In such case the Win 10 drivers will not be released for such unit….

The touchpad scrolling requires additional touchpad driver…
If your unit supports Synaptics touchpad, you could also use the driver from Synaptics driver page:
http://www.synaptics.com/en/drivers.php

But currently driver for Win 10 isn’t available… you could try to install and use the Win 8.1 driver but I’m not quite sure if it will work properly….

Hi

In the past i have used the Fn+ F9 to stop the touchpad from working (i usualy had a mouse nearby and that works better), now i tried to use it again and it doesn't turn on anymore?
Only windows 7 (64bits) has been installed since.

what do i have to do to get the touchpad working again?

(i've already tried to install the value added package but that gives an error on instal)

With kind regards

P.S i am using speedfan to cheak my grafic card temperature because the laptop has been shuting down in the past (never does that with windows 7 though)
and the temperature of the grafic cards gets over 100 degrees celcius, when plating the biggest games, is that normal?

Answer:Qosmio X300-15R - Touchpad on/off doesn't work on Windows 7

Hi

What error message you get exactly if you install Toshiba Value Added Package and where did you download it?
I ask this because this tool is necessary to use the FN keys.

If I search for Qosmio X300 and Windows 7 64bit I can find a correct VAP version that should work. Maybe you should try to download it again!

Regarding the temperature I think it?s only necessary to clean the notebook using compressed air spray. This could blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators.
Check this!!

I have an E530 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  From what I can tell the Synaptics UltraNav program is running normally. However, after the comuter has been to sleep (lid closed) and then wakes up (lid open), the touchpad does not work at all.  I have updated the drivers for the touchpad and even uninstalled and reinstalled them and there is no change.  After about 5 minutes from waking up, the touchpad will just start working.  Can anyone help?  Thanks!

Answer:E530 - Touchpad doesn't work after sleep mode.

Hi

Welcome to the community.

As per your concern when the system wakes up from the sleep mode then TouchPad does not work.

To diagnose, I would suggest you to please update the Power Manager software and Bios of your system from the below mentioned web link.

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?

Afterwards, please restart the system and check whether the issue gets resolved.

Regards,
Sameer

Hi

Have you tested an external mouse on the notebook? Does it work?
Is the touchpad listed in device manager?

Normally you can enable or disable the touchpad using FN+F9. Did you check this?
Maybe you have to install the Value Added Package for this.

Hi,

I have this problem with my touchpad. I'm running Vista Business and have my touchpad drivers installed but the Fn key combination for turning it on/off doesn't work. It starts to work when I install value addes package but then my FN brightness key combination doesn't work

What can I do to make all of them work?

Answer:TouchPad On/Off FN button doesn't work on Satellite A200

You must install all stuff listed in ?Installations Instructions? document. Please install all stuff as listed in this document because installations order is very important.

You must understand that using FN keys combination you have influence on several different applications. Touchpad ON/OFF is separately application. ?Flash cards? is separately applications and part of Value Added Package.

Simply install all Toshiba tools and utilities and everything will be ok.

In safe & uefi modes, the touchpad doesn't work & there are 3 yellow flags on the system firmware, the monitor & the I2C controller. (ES1 laptop is only a month old). SFC/scannow is no help. Uninstall & reboot doesn't work. Don't really want to restore the whole system. Yet, in regular startup mode, the device manager has no red or yellow flags & the touchpad is ok. Ideas?

OS? as safe you mean windows safe boot?

Hello,As the title says, I can't use the touchpad on my T470p. I did a factory reset, installed all the w10 updates and the BIOS updates. Then I downloaded the Ultranav driver, but after it asked for a restart, nothing changed. In mouse properties, I don't have access to "Advanced settings" to have access to the "Synaptics Control Panel".
