I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

HDMI is digital only, and VGA is analog only. a cable will almost definitely not work.

Hello, I would love to ask for some help!
I've recently purchased the newer Dell XPS 13 9360 Non-touch (not the 2 in 1) and am having some trouble with using an external monitor. The screen (on the external monitor) keeps on flickering and has a very unstable connection.
I've searched and found that apparently lowering the power output of the WIFI network adapter can fix this problem.
The problem is that the current XPS's wifi adapter doesn't allow the power output to be changed. The previous fixes were geared towards intel wifi adapters.
The general power settings for the computers doesn't show wifi card power controls.

I have updated all the drivers for the computer including the wireless adapter. Still the options doesn't change.

Has anyone found a way to get a stable external monitor to work with the Killer Wireless Adapter cards?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer:XPS 13 9360 External Monitor Flicker with USB C - HDMI Adapter [Killer Wireless Adapter]

For what it's worth: For me (XPS 13 9360, QHD, i7, 16 GB, Killer WiFi), external screens are perfectly stable, even with wireless being on relatively high throughput load, albeit not high power (energy) load.
I am connecting both HDMI and DisplayPort displays, each with cheap native USB-C adapters (i.e. through Thunderbolt). I also have full success with a Dell DA200, through its built-in HDMI graphics adapter.

I need to know if the HDMI motherboard in a 60" Samsung Plasma TV can be used in a Sony Bravia 52" TV. The motherboard in my Sony died and I have access to one in a Samsung Plasma that's screen cracked.

Answer:Is a 60" Samsung Plasma HDMI motherboard compatible with a 52" Sony Bravia HDMI motherboard.

No, it would not be, in the past I had to repair a tv for a friend that had his board shorted that was an LCD Sony Bravia 52 Inch and its board was very specific as with all Sony Products. The Boards on the TV's are the hearts and the companies that built them don't allow for parts to be interchanged easily. Your best bet is ebay and finding the part number to find a board, that's how I got the one I used to fix it.

The sound was working on my SAMSUNG and I was trying to temporarily disable it, so I would not distrub my housemates.... So I clicked "disable" on the control panel Sounds gaget, thinking this would temporarily turn it off, like it does within the Networks gaget (I turn off wireless at work, and network port at home).

Well it did not temporarily disable it, it deleted it from the system. I have managed to get it to see the HDMI TV at 1080p resolution, but sounds
don't work on the TV since I clicked disable.

I have tried every setting on the control panel, such as sound devices, graphics, displays, tried the "find a device" all to no avail. How do I enable the sound for the samsung?

TIA, Rhino

Answer:24" samsung HDMI and sound

I would try to reinstall the driver for the Samsung, assuming there is one. There might also be a separate driver for the Samsung's sound.

My parents just recently purchased a Samsung television to use as their monitor. The computer has an HDMI port and we have already tried quite a bit of troubleshooting and different approaches.
The television and HDMI cord have no problem (it connected just fine with a laptop and displayed with ease).
We've tried each different way to power on the systems.
The computer isn't recognizing that the television is plugged in (not showing up on devices) and is not being detected as a secondary display in the display monitor settings. We've tried adjusting the different resolutions, as that seems to be an issue at times with televisions as well.
I've seen that some people have been able to make this work by simply working one screen at a time (such as unplugging the original monitor and only having the television hooked up), but that doesn't seem to be our issue.
From what I've seen, it seems like out next option is upgrading the video card or trying to connect the television with a converter to the VGI (though we were hoping for the audio/video HD output of the HDMI).
Does anyone know if there is something that we're missing?
I know it's an older model, but it seems like some people are able to get it to work just fine.

Any and all help is appreciated, thank you.

Answer:Inspiron 580 HDMI to Samsung TV issue

What model discrete video card or integrated video and which operating system? Is the tv on and switched to HDMI input and is the original computer monitor disconnected? Your video card is probably not capable of running 2 monitors especially if you have the standard integrated video which cannot use dual monitors. Only one output of integrated video can be used on older computers.
If the tv is the only monitor it would be much simpler to purchase a $100 monitor instead of a tv especially for non techies. It takes tweaking to use a tv as a monitor--every time it is turned on. Not a good choice unless your parents are computer literate. They should realize they won't be able to watch broadcast tv on the tv at the same time it is being used it as a monitor. So there is no advantage to this setup.

Hi,
So I have tried everything. I update the drivers for both my graphics cards and they are both the latest drivers.

When I connect my TV to my laptop, the TV screen goes blank for a few seconds (normal) and then I get a searching for signals...and then a few minutes later....no signal.

The laptop is a brand new Acer aspire v nitro. The TV is a much older Samsung one 40 inch LED. Model number: ua40d5003br

I tried the usual Windows + p, etc...but like my computer just refuses to detect the display. Settings says no other display detected, and control panel display settings only shows one display. I factory reset the TV and everything....still nothing.
I don't know how to use nvidia control panel to do this cos there is no display options I can see there and Intel HD graphics center doesn't detect the display either.

Any suggestions? The cable is 100% working and so is the TV. I don't really have any other way of testing the HDMI port on my laptop as the tv is the only output monitor I have.

Thanks in advance,
Vishwas

Hello,

I have searched many threads and tried many things to solve this problem, but my limited computer skills are beginning to show.

I have recently Upgraded my Samsung Q320 Laptop from Windows Vista 64 to Windows 7 64, and have had limited success with the HDMI. At first, the HDMI video worked, but the audio, although saying it was working, was not sending audio to my TV.

I have rolled back drivers, looked for updated drivers, etc, and am now not able to even get the icon for the HDMI audio to come up on the Volume panel. It used to before I started troubleshooting. Now when I connect my HDMI, the video works, but in Audio setup, it says that the HDMI audio is not connected. I have attempted to make it my default sound card, but the option is greyed out. I am starting to go insane, as I do not know what I am doing wrong. I have tried the connection from startup, etc, and no matter what, it is not working.

Thanks for your suggestions, I appreciate it alot

Answer:Samsung Q320 - HDMI Audio

mortron, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Had a quick look here,

Q320 performance 13.4" - Q320 - Notebooks - mobile computing | SAMSUNG

and it looks like Samsung has most, if not all the necessary drivers for that laptop for Windows 7. I also had a look at the HDMI driver and it is nothing more than an audio driver from Nvidia to enable the HDMI audio on their video cards that support it. One thing to try instead of the drivers from Samsung is the latest directly from Nvidia,

NVIDIA DRIVERS 260.99 WHQL

which should also have the necessary audio driver in it (if you try it make sure to not install the 3D Vision driver if offered, it isn't needed and that video card isn't strong enough to make use of it even if you had the 3D Vision kit). If that one doesn't work you can try using Nvidia's auto scanner/updater for it,

The WARNING IS: Samsung Monitors DO NOT WORK under HDMI with all Graphics Cards

To say I am disappointed with the Samsung Monitor I purchased recently is a gross understatement but in order to keep my post free of bad language, disappointed will have to do.

I have a Samsung LCD 21.5 B2230H / Model: LS22PUHKFW/XM

When I purchased the Monitor it did not come with an HDMI cable (I can see why now) I bought one but the HDMI connection would not work, I spoke with Samsung Service and they said it was the HDMI cable. I bought another HDMI Cable, an expessive BELKIN HDMI cable and it still did not work.
So I took the Monitor back to Samsung Service Centre, they had it a while and said it was repaired but did not even have the facility to test a HDMI Monitor with the computers at the service desk. I got the Monitor home and guess what? It still did not work!

As Samsung Malaysia PJ seem incapable of testing HDMI Monitors I returned the Monitor to the vendor, ALL-IT Hypermarket Sdn Bhd (Ikano Power Centre) yesterday. (Great Company by-the-way) ALTHOUGH THEY ESTIMATE SAMSUNG WILL TAKE 3 WEEKS TO GET MY MONITOR BACK!

At least ALL-IT had the facility to test the Monitor! They tried it with my PC, HDMI did not work, they tried it with their PC, and it worked. They changed the Graphics card in my PC, HDMI still did not work, they tried my PC with another HDMI Monitor, and it worked. All they seem to be able to prove is the HDMI connection of a Samsung B2230H does not work with an AS... Read more

The Samsung rv510 laptop I have has a rubber plug blocking the HDMI port.
I assume it's because they use the "Case/Shell" for multiple models and this one does not come with it.
My questions:.... Are these built into the mobo or is there a Video card I could replace inside?
I'm assuming it's onboard in which case I will need to get a VGA+3.5mm audio to HDMI adapter in order to make this work?

I am trying to connect my laptop (Thinkpad R61) with my TV (Samsung LNT4665F) using a DVI/HDMI cable. Because the R61 doesn't have a DVI port, I am using it in the IBM 2504 Docking station. I have docked the computer, connected the DVI/HDMI cord (using HDMI in 1 on the TV, which I believe is the only DVI accepted HDMI on the TV). I followed the Samsung instructions to then hit "Fn-F7" on the laptop. Unfortunately, nothing is happening. It doesn't appear that any signal is pushing out to the TV. I am not very tech savvy. Hey guys,
I have done some searching but to no avail. I have tried everything I can find/think of with absolutely no luck.

I have a brand new Samsung LN46B750 which I have connected to my desktop for use as an HTPC. VGA works fine, but I would much prefer to use a digital connection. SO, I have an HDMI <> DVI adapter and a monoprice HDMI cable connecting my GeForce 6800 to the HDMI/DVI port on the HDTV.

I have tried 182.5 and the latest Nvidia drivers as well as the generic W7 drivers. It's all the same.

Everything works fine in the OS so long as I make it past the Windows splash screen. And unfortunately, that never happens. I believe that the problem lies in the auto adjustment of the screen when 7 starts loading. (If I boot without the TV connected, and then connect after the splash screen has loaded, everything is perfect.) Is there any way to disable the auto detection/adjustment of the TV and just have the OS always boot into 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz. I am really tired of the blank or black screen every time I reboot. This is a terrible bug with W7 or EDID and it needs to be fixed now Microsoft!

Thank you!

Answer:No Signal on Boot with Samsung HDTV over DVI/HDMI

I have a Samsung LNT4665F.

The problem actually lies in the Samsung - the I/O board is, well, been replaced a few times. Service warranty even replaced the entire TV after four failed repairs.

The good news - Windows 7.7600.16385 with an ATI HD3850 no longer gets caught by the Samsung oddity.

Hello

I just bought a new computer with a geforce 570 GTX with a mini hdmi output. This i wanted to connect to my samsung TV. First off, my PC only recognises a second monitor when my TV is connected at boot.

When i try to select HDMI source on the TV it's greyed out and i can't select it, because the TV doesnt detect a signal. I found a workaround for this, as i connect my laptop to my tv through HDMI (which works flawlessly), select source --> HDMI, then unplug my laptop, and plugin my new computer to the same input - meanwhile not touching the channels on the TV.

Now i get a picture on the TV from my new computer, it's crystal clear and actually works - but there is an error message across the TV screen: check signal cable - which never goes away. In addition the source HDMI is greyed out again, so if i navigate away from the source, i can't select it again. It seems like my TV doesnt detect that there actually are a signal, even though it's displaying it.

For troubleshooting i tried this: Tried 3 different cables of different lengths. My laptop to TV works flawlessly through HDMI - so it's not the port on the TV thats faulty. I tried connecting my new computer to my friends TV (a prosonic), and it works.

So i think it has to do with the combination of my new computer and my TV - as they apparantly works separately.

I also tried updating the firmware on my TV to the latest version. I tried updating GTX drivers (even tried a few older versions as well).

Answer:Nvidia GTX HDMI to Samsung TV, check signal cable

Welcome to Seven Forums letifere. Yours is a common issue, which you may have discovered in your search. I'm a TV tech, and I have run into this many times. It is not really a TV "problem", as the TV is working as designed. As you know the input will not show in the input list if there is no signal. Your TV also needs to do a "handshake" with the PC (any HDMI device).

It's possible if you boot the laptop with the TV already on, you may find the HDMI input becomes available (much as when you trick it).

1st off, are you plugging the HDMI from the PC into HDMI1 (DVI)? This is the input for connecting a PC.

I hate to say that many give up on HDMI from their PC and resort to DVI to HDMI adapters (there is a PC/DVI Audio in mini jack next to the HDMI1 (DVI) input).

I'd suggest speaking to Samsung customer support, as they have no doubt dealt with this many times, and might know a "trick"

I must admit that I have little hope for the quick and perfect solution, but I will give it a try. I just bought an Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition VN7-792G with Windows 10 and an external monitor for it, a Samsung LS32D850, and connected both with the HDMI cable that came with the monitor. It worked extremely well. However, when the laptop switches off the monitor for any reason, like a reboot or an energy saving setting, then the monitor stays black. I have tried many things, but the only ones that work seem to be these: Unplugging and re-plugging the HDMI cable. This works every time.Switching off the monitor for a long time, at least several minutes, then switching it on again.Even disconnecting the monitor's power cord for a minute is not enough to make the laptop send an HDMI signal to the monitor. All other attempts to wake up the monitor yield only spotty or no results, like switching the monitor configuration in Windows (Windows key + P or the equivalent Fn + F5). I can always activate the laptop's built-in display that way, but not the external monitor. I also tried changing the monitor input from HDMI to Auto and back, and various other actions, to no avail. I checked the Windows Intel video driver, which turned out to be up to date. I changed to another HDMI cable?same problem. I have not yet tried to switch to the NVidia graphics adapter, because I'm not sure how to do that. If this is still unsolved, this is quite disheartening and dissapointing - all hardware and software has been out for a while and is pretty unjustified that such a high end computer would not have something as simple as a DIGITAL out for sound in some form - especially if it is part of the specs. This was a $3000+ computer once it got upgraded at purchase time!

Hi all.. Just wondered if anyone can help me.. I'm having trouble connecting my ideapad via HDMI to my TV. The Z580 is running windows 8. I cant seem to duplicate the laptop screen to my Samsung TV. I have tried windows button and P but it just doesnt show on my TV when i select duplicate.  Does anyone have any solutions to my problem please? I have checked my hdmi cable.

Answer:HELP!!! TROUBLE CONNECTING MY Z580 TO MY SAMSUNG 7000 TV VIA HDMI

hi KERMITZBITZ,

Can you try the following:
1. Make sure the Video driver is v9.17.10.2817 by downloading the following::

Intel VGA driver_64bit0mvg11w8_64.exe80.7MB

2. Adjust the laptop and TV resolution to 1024x768 and try Windows+P to check if the display extends or duplicate.
3. If applicable, try a different HDMI port on the T.V.
4. To isolate if it's a Windows / drivers issue, try to install Ubuntu via Wubi. (this dual-boot's your Windows OS and Ubuntu, if you're finished using it, you can uninstall it anytime via Programs and Features under Control Panel)

If all troubleshooting steps above doesn't work, there's a possibility that the HDMi port is defective and you will need to send the unit in for service/ Support phone list here.

Hope this helps.

If I could wake up the monitor that way, I co... Read more

Have you tried to connect your laptop to another monitor or TV?just to be 100% sure it's a laptop issue. i'm not 100% sure but if i remember correctly display port is managed by nvidia card, HDMI is managed by Intel until your run a compatible 3D software (games or programs) that switch to nvidia card.

Hi, I have a T410 lenovo laptop and have just purchased a DisplayPort to HDMI converter so that I can have my laptop connected to my Samsung 32" TV. I have also purchased a 4 port CubiQ CS1794 switch, to allow me to connect my PC and my work laptop using the same screen, keyboard and mouse. I am having issues with the laptop, as when I have the settings set to "clone" and the lid of my laptop open, all seems to be fine, however as soon as I shut the lid OR switch the Display on the TV, the laptop goes blank and reboots. I can only assume that the laptop display driver or DisplayPort is not capable of handling my TV.  As soon as I try to go in to the Resolution settings, it just restarts the laptop. Problem is..could it also be the KVM switch?  I can't think why it would be, as my PC and Games Console all connect fine through this, and so does the laptop when in clone mode, it just seems to be when I give sole control to the TV that it doesn't like it. I am wondering therefore if the graphics card/adapter on the laptop is just not good enough to handle the TV alone? My Spec is: Lenovo T410 - Intel Core i5 M520 @ 2.4GHz with 4GB RAM on 32-bit Operating System - Intel HD Graphics Has anyone experienced this, or can anyone advise what would be causing this? Thanks Andrew

Hello.I have Samsung Smart TV ES5500KThe Laptop PC HP ProBook 6570b, Windows 7 Pro, x64And fully working cinematic HDMI Cable plus DP to HDMI Adapter (Brand new).I also upgraded all required drivers and software, even including BIOS. The problem is very unusual.  After I plug in every thing, the PC seems to see the TV but it is not recognizing it, after I set extend screen I can go to the next screen but my TV display shows error to check the cables, etc.   I can not see anything on the TV display.  The other strange thing is that in Windows settings resolution for TV is setted to 640 x 480 and there is no way to change it.   PS. I also pluged in VGA cabel to the HP laptop and LG Screen, and there is no problem. I tested the TV and HDMI cabel with different Notebook (Asus Series X553M, Widnows 10, x64), and there is no problem with display.I was considering buying a VGA to HDMI but only as last way of getting that TV working.I have no clue what can be wrong. Please, help my.Best regards.

Hello Community, I just purchased a lenove ideapad y 580 and am trying to connect it to my Samsung TV in order to watch online streams on my TV. Sadly the TV is not getting a signal from my Laptop. Is anything else I would need to to except pressing Fn & F3? I am not really an expert with these things as this is the first time I am even trying to connect something via HDMI. :-) I will be thankful for any help you can give me. Edit: Problem solved. It seems there was just a problem with the hdmi port I tried to use on my TV. I switched to a different port and now it is working just fine.

When I use the Toshiba utility "HDMI out" to connect my Satellite P300-19K to my Samsung LE35B450 TV I get the message "This is only effective when the PC is connected to a TV which supports HDMI control through the HDMI cable".

Does anyone have a workaround for this? My Samsung TV is recent and has 3 HDMI input plugs and all give the same result. Is there another Toshiba driver that does not require this feedback control feature? This hardly seems reasonable since all I want to do is display & normally there's no 2 way communication through an HDMI cable anyway.

Thanks in advance for any help out there.

Answer:Satellite P300 - HDMI out won't connect to Samsung TV model LE32B450

I?m not 100% sure but I think in user?s manuals is clearly described that this tool is designed for usage with Toshiba Regza TVs. With other words it is Toshiba specific function.

If you want to have picture on your TV use ?standard? procedure for this purpose. Connect notebook to your TV using HDMI cable, enable HDMI port (HDMI channel) on TV and use FN+F5 key combination to switch between notebook and TV.

Hi,

I have been building media centers (since XP MCE) for about a year now. Last month finally purchased my first big LCD TV. Last week, I bought an AV HDMI receiver (Pioneer VSX-520-K) and have spent the last week trying to finalize chaining all the components together into the best possible config. I am at 15m from the top of the mountain, but stuck there.
Bit of history...had an NVIDIA Geforce 7300 (DVI/VGA/Svideo) in the Mobo before, and this card was capable of using the full resolution of the TV, through VGA. Activating this PCIex card in the BIOS disabled my onboard ATI Radeon audio/video output. When I bought the AV HDMI receiver, I wanted to make use of the HDMI outbound sound, so took out the NVIDIA and activated the ATI HDMI onboard.
So config at that point is
Mobo send Audio/Video to Samsung TV over HDMI, sound is forwarded by the TV via fibre-optic cable into the Pioneer receiver.
Woohoo! Great sound - 5.1 in my speakers...but at first I noticed that the image quality was not as good as with the NVIDIA VGA, and them I noticed the underscan, 1inch black border lost across all sides.

In a lower res the underscan is gone, but the icons and edges are less clear. I know the TV can do better in its recommended res.

I did a clean W7 install to start with a clean system.
I think I have installed the correct ATI radeon drivers and CCC versions. Found lots of forums on the internet about this. An overview of what I already tried without luck...

Hi all,

Just to let you know my problem is solved.
The way to do it was to use a freeware tool called "Driver Sweeper". ATI apparently is poor on the garbage-collect capabilities when removing drivers during CCC un-install.
I ran Driver Sweeper and removed all drivers and CCC stuff. After reboot, graphics seemed horrible, but after re-installing the latest 10_11 ATI suite all was fine.

Now got a crystalclear screen at 1920*1080 @ 60Hz

Dear All,

For the previous two years I have been running my Samsung TV as a monitor extension via a HDMI cable.

I have recently moved house and rewired my set up and now the computer is not outputting the signal to the TV.

Diagnosis so far:
Tried a different TV - no luck
Tried a new HDMI cord - no luck
Updated video card drivers - no luck
NVIDIA Control Pannel > set up multiple displays > my display is not working > rigourous display detection - no luck

Perhaps I need to check my HDMI output from the computer, maybe an internet wire came loose during moving??

And the TV is a Samsung PS43D450

Can someone please help?? Thanks in advance!

Hello,

NVIDIA geforce 8200 does not detect LCD HDTV PC connected to Samsung LE46530F1W by HDMI

The PC is running Win 7 Premium Home 64 bit SP1. It is connected to a 19 inch monitor (Viseo 190W) via a vga cable. The monitor is at 1366x768 at 60HZ.
The nvidia driver version is 275.33.
The tv is a recent Samsung LE46530F1W and is connected by new HDMI cable from PC to TV.
The TV reports that this source is not connected. The current resolution of the TV is 1920x1080 at 50HZ.

If I look in Nvidia control panel, under 'setup multiple displays' - I only see the Vi##SPAM## 190W as a single display. I choose 'My display is not shown', followed by 'Rigorous Display Detection' and 'Yes' to 'Would you like your TV enabled'. This puts a 'tick' in the 'force television detection on startup' checkbox. The 'restart now' button is greyed out - I restart the PC anyway, without effect.

The TV does not recognise it is getting a signal from the PC. The PC does not recognise the TV display as existing.

Any advice would be welcome as to:

Am I posting in the right forum?

What should I do to make the TV display my PC output?

This small 2-in-1 works using the HDMI port when connected to my (older, 17 inch) external flat panel monitor, in this case using an HDMI to VGA converter unit. If I connect it to a somewhat old (CRT, not flat panel) Samsung TV using a standard HDMI cable I cannot get it to display to the TV. I have another (work supplied) larger Dell laptop (Inspiron 15 3000) that can display to this TV, using the same HDMI cable that won't work with the Inspiron 11. Both laptops have Windows 10.
So:
The HDMI port on the 11 works, as does the cable.
The TV can work with at least some laptops, since the 15 can display to it, and I must have the TV input selection correct (HDMI2).
Do some laptops simply not work with some TVs? For example, maybe the Inspiron 11 can't be set to a correct resolution that matches what the TV needs, but the Inspiron 15 can? Maybe I need some kind of driver update for the 11, or have not found some setting I need to change?
Thanks.

Is there an image quality difference between if I use HDMI to DP or DP to HDMI adapter?
a,5870nd both will work with Eyeinfinity, yes?

Answer:HDMI to DP or DP to HDMI adapter?

No, there is no loss of quality using DisplayPort to HDMI or to another interface. I don't think there is a HDMI to DP adapter.

Eyefinity requires that all monitors beyond the second one are connected through a DP port, but an adapter can be used.

Hi,We are connecting a Dell Vostro Desktop 3040 SFF to a Samsung MU6400 smart TV by HDMI cable. We also have a cable TV box connected to the same TV, also by HDMI cable. Whenever the Dell cable is connected, the picture from both sources suffers intermittent faint horizontal lines scrolling slowly up the screen. When it's disconnected the cable TV picture is normal. We have switched the cables round and tried different cables but it seems to make no difference. Is this likely to be a Dell PC or cable issue?

Answer:Vostro Desktop 3040 SFF, Samsung MU6400 smart TV, multiple HDMI in interference?

So you verified that the cable TV box directly to the MU6400 does not have the issue.Do the same for the Vostro Desktop 3040 SFF.Disconnect the cable TV box HDMI cable from the MU6400. Using only the Vostro Desktop 3040 SFF connected to the MU6400, do you see intermittent faint horizontal lines? If not, then the common fault is the MU6400. You should check on the Samsung Forum.

I have a U510 with the useless mini-VGA and no adapter has worked for that, so now I am looking for a good HDMI to VGA adapter. What is a good one for under $40? (Online or at Best Buy, RadioShack, or Staples)Thanks!

Answer:The best HDMI to VGA adapter

There's no such thing as a HDMI to VGA adapter. HDMI is purely digital signal, while VGA is pure analog signal. You'd have to get a converter that not only could change the shape of connector, but also decode digital sitnal and encode is as analog one. I don't even know if anybody makes such a thing. Why would you use VGA anyway? HDMI is superior in quality and functionality. VGA is susceptible to e-m noise too.EDIT: Ok I did look it up, and there are HDMI to VGA converters. I must admit I'm surprised. Still, I'd avoid it if possible. If you do need it, I can't recommend one as I never used one, but maybe using the one you can get from Lenovo might be a good idea?http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:item.detail?...

HI,  I have an hp envy laptop (m6-aq005dx) and it has a usb-c port. I wanted to display a second output monitor. I have already used my hdmi port so i thought the hp usb-c to hdmi adapter would work for my laptop since there was no software or drivers needed. Anyays, it is not working. everytime i plug in the display adapter, it says the connection may not work, try another cable. I have tried several hdmi cables, and even the adapter by itself. Is my laptop not compatible? i have also tried a few different display drivers for my laptop. When looking into the device manager, is shows up as a usb adapter but with error. I'm thinking that  my port is only meant to give output and not input. If so, what are other alternatives to output to two monitors..

Having said that, there are two types, active and passive. The type you get will depend on your configuration. For a three monitor configuration, for example, you will want an active converter.

I have a 24" DVI monitor but I only have a computer with a VGA and HDMI port. Will using a dvi to HDMI adapter work or is there another solution.

Answer:dvi to hdmi adapter

Generally, using a DVI to HDMI should be fine, although you should note you will not get any sound from the DVI itself. It really just depends on what screen you have, and how compatible it is. For example, on my old computer, all I had was a DVI and VGA. Because my TV was off-brand (all it had was 3 HDMIs), it wasn't able to decode the converted DVI to HDMI and thus wouldn't display anything. But for an actual computer monitor, you should be OK.

I have a Windows 10 hp laptop and a Cable Matters HDMI to VGA adapter. I usually plug my laptop to an HD TV but am having to do this for a while.
I understand this can be tricky, as hdmi to VGA is digital to analog conversion. I got it working yesterday after plenty of fight, not in display options but windows key + p and selected extend. When done working I closed my laptop lid. Since then it has not worked. Can any you help?
I'll tell you what I've done and what it's doing. Now, Windows does indeed think it's connected to an external monitor. Everything about windows says so - there's two icons in display. I can move things to other monitor. But, the monitor doesn't agree. It's blinking in standby.
If I unplug VGA from monitor, it realizes it. If I unplug adapter from Windows, it realizes it. But there's still a gap and I can't find the answer.
I've restarted, shut down, combinations of those with plugging in adapter before / after, I've deleted generic display from device manager, tried a different monitor, and other various "windows nudges" I call em. Went to manufacturer's site, not any help there. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

I'm really hoping someone here has experience with this issue and can help me. I have a 37" Philips CRT TV which I have connected to my computer so that I can watch videos on it. I have been using it with an older laptop that has S-video output and it has been working perfectly. Recently I upgraded my computer and my two modern graphics cards do not support S-video, only DVI or HDMI. I have been using an HDMI to composite adapter with no issues except that I had to adjust the screen size to make it fit. However, the image quality is pretty bad, so I just purchased an HDMI to component adapter. I am able to make it work by setting the resolution to 480i, but when I attempt to resize the screen, the image becomes distorted beyond recognition. I really need to adjust the screen size because the edges of the screen are cut off. I have tried changing the resolution, but it doesn't work unless it's set to the default 480i resolution. I have also tried a VGA to component adapter (with a DVI to VGA adapter) and that didn't work at all. I really hope I can make this work so that I can use component instead of composite. The only other option I can think of is to install a third graphics card that supports S-video, but I'm not sure I could find one that is compatible with Windows 7.

If you're wondering why I don't just get an HDTV, it's because I play a lot of classic video game consoles that look best on my old CRT TV. I'm ver... Read more

I have 2 TVs currently serving as my screens. I've lately been helping family and friends fix small issues on their computers. I've come across a few PCs that have only a VGA Display Port, while both of my screens only have HDMI ports.
I asked someone at a local parts store, if a wire that is VGA male one side and HDMI male the other, would do the job. He told me in long detail why that would never work, that I needed a signal converter to change the display signal.
Basically he said when adapting a VGA screen to a HDMI port was possible, and the reverse (HDMI screen to VGA port in pc) is not.

My question is, if I bought the cord linked below, would I have to do anything else other than just plugging it in? Or do I indeed need this converter I was told about?

Thanks in advance

Answer:VGA to HDMI Display Adapter

You will need a signal converter of some type. A simple wire cable with different connectors on each end will not work. A VGA output has three analog video signals. An HDMI input expects all digital signals.

Hi, so I have an E 530 with a GT 630M which I occasionally use for a bit of FIFA. The game runs great but when I connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI the resolution and performance completely mess up. I checked the display settings and that shows the Intel 3000 integrated card as the display adapter instead of the dedicated 630M I've set to default for the game with no way to change it. Is the HDMI only capable of utilising the 3000? I've tried both the latest Nvidia and Lenovo drivers to no avail.

I have an IPAD mini and bought an adapter that lets me attach it to an HDMI cable and to a TV. When I try to watch TNT it will show the ads, but when the actual show comes up the TV screen goes blank. I still get sound, but no picture. I have the "Watch TNT" application that I use to watch the shows, and it works fine on the IPAD but not on the TV. Any thoughts?

Not too long ago, I bought a VGA to HDMI converter to connect my laptop to my TV, but I wasn't able to get it to work, and the tech support guy I talked to from Monoprice's chat suggested it was probably incompatible with my TV, so I had it returned, and then I bought this on the recommend of the same guy: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p..._id=1011403&p_id=8079&seq=1&format=2&rep=mike

But the problem is, I hooked it up, installed the drivers, and still I'm not getting any picture on my TV screen. I have the input set to the correct station. Everything's installed correctly. And I even reinstalled the drivers from the website of the company that produces the adapter. Still nothing.

Do you guys have any ideas? Because I've spent a lot of time trying to get this to work, and I'm not having any luck. I've asked on a couple different places, and I haven't had much luck there, either. If anyone here can help me out, I would really appreciate it.

Hi, so here's the problem, I bought a brand new graphics card today, the problem is my monitor only has a VGA slot in it and the graphics card has HDMI and DVI. So I looked for the HDMI to VGA converter I had and used that, it was working well for awhile, no display issues at all, and then after awhile my monitor lost signal and this annoying high pitched ringing noise started, it seems to be coming from the adapter since everytime I unplug it and plug it back in, everything would work perfectly for awhile and then the same problem would start all over again. I tried using our TV directly and the problem doesn't occur with it. Is it advisable for me to buy a new HDMI to VGA adapter or is that a waste of money?

I recently ordered the Lenovo Y550 and I was just wondering about using the HDMI to connect to a monitor using a DVI adapter. The question is if I will still be able to use the laptop speakers or the headphone jack to connect to external speakers for audio. Or will the computer automatically shut them off thinking that audio is already being transmitted through the HDMI out?

I'm planning on connecting my W500 to my Sony KDL-40V2500 LCD television. Is there any advantage to using a DP cable and a male HDMI to female DP adapter, verses, a male DP to female HDMI adapter and using my existing HDMI cables? I would rather use the second option because it would be cheaper, plus I'm not sure if they make a male HDMI to female DP adapter. Also, please post any websites that sell these adapters (your searching skills might be better than mine). I have only been able to find a few....Monoprice, Startech, Wal-Mart is now selling one.

I would like to know if this adapter can work from a DVR (security cameras)
I have a 15m VGA cable running from the DVR to a TV, but the VGA port of the TV got lightning damage and now I want to use it's HDMI port, which is undamaged. I found this on ebay: click here
If this one will work, would it need to be powered via it's USB cable ? If yes, can I power it from my computer which is 1meter from the TV ?
Thanks in advance for usable advise.

Hi all, I'm having problems trying to connect my computer to my tv via my display port to hdmi adapter and hdmi cord.  I am no expert with this type of things however I have tried many different things I have seen on the internet with trying to get your dp to hdmi to work. But still nothing comes up on the TV. I brought the computer second hand from a company which was used for work purposes. I have a feeling that perhaps there is no drivers installed or the display port is not active... is there any specific driver I need to make sure the display port works? I am extremely out of my depth with this sort of thing.any help is greatly appreciated right now

Hoping someone is willing to help me figure this out.

When I got my last Dell Desktop (January, 2008) it did not have an HDMI (hdmi?) port.

Now, I have another monitor (with an hdmi port), and I have an hdmi cable (two cables, actually), but cannot connect the monitor via hdmi.

Can anyone tell me if this (*link below) would be the correct adapter (all four ends of my two cables are male):

* http://www.sfcable.com/ADA-AV54007X.html?c=dvi-hdmi-displayport-adapters

Somehow, I just don't think it's correct...?

Maybe it's THIS one (or is this the same as the first link, please?) ---> http://www.texastvmountsplus.com/tcd2029.html

Hey guys! I want to connect my samsung 30 inch HDTV to my Toshiba Satellite L505. And i found two kinds of usb video display adapter: one is no brand usb to dvi hdmi vga adapter and another is SewellDirect Minideck USB to DVI Multi Display adapter. I don't know if my 30 inch tv can be compatible with FULL 1080P movies. Here is those two adapters:
USB to HDMI Adapter-USB 2.0 to DVI/VGA/HDMI Multi-Display Adapter
Sewell Minideck USB to DVI, VGA and HDMI Display Adapter - SW-22857, $99.95

Any suggestions will be appreciated! thanks

Answer:Compare USB to DVI HDMI VGA Video Adapter

The Sewell one supports more resolutions, so get that one.
The no-name one doesn't have 1280x720 listed in its specs, which is what non-1080P TV's use.

I'm connecting a laptop with HDMI to a Dell U2311's displayport however it's not picking up the signal.
I'm not sure if I'm answering my own question but after a bit of research a few posts have said that you can't have the DP as the input [to the monitor] if you have HDMI as output [from the visual source], you have to either have it vise-versa or just displayport to displayport.

Just asking for confirmation of this as I was sent a replacement cable after I believed the first didn't work, now I've got two of these cables which are probably both fine but I've got no other way of testing them.

Answer:HDMI to Displayport adapter problem

Apparently it is possible to go from HDMI to Displayport but you have to use an active adapter which cost about ?50+. May as well buy a new monitor

I'm trying to find the datasheet or technical specs for USB-C to HDMI (P7Z55AA). My product didn't come with any.  When I try to access it through the support website, it says that there are no available documents:  However, I was able to find the specs for another USB-C to HDMI Adapter (N9K77AA):  So here are my questions:  1) What is the difference between N9K77AA and P7Z55AA?2) If there's no difference, then can I assume that the specs mentioned in N9K77AA datasheet apply to P7Z55AA as well?
