Preferred Solution: Revert back to Win10 from Insider Preview

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Revert back to Win10 from Insider Preview

The only way to go back is to erase the insider preview and do a clean install of version 1607.

Today Gabe Aul has posted that from the next build of win10, insider will have to use theirs MSA (used for insider program) to login into windows to allow them to receive the free RTM.
My problem is that I have the insider preview (already with MSA) on my main PC in dual-boot with win8.1 but I don't want to continue to use it for the insider program. I want only the final and stable release of 10 on it. But I want to still be an insider, so, can I install the next build on another PC?
If not I unfortunately have to leave the insider program. I twitted even Gabe but he doesn't answer me... Can someone help me?

Answer:Win10 Insider preview on a different PC

Windows 10 has an option in Settings > Update and Recovery > Windows Update > Advanced update options to "Stop Insider Builds" I think.
When you receive the RTM build, you need to click "Stop Insider Builds" and you'll stop getting the pre release builds, however, you may be required to roll back to a previous version of Windows. This is to stop pirates getting free, genuine copies of Windows 10 without helping Microsoft test the operating system.
In terms of installing another pre release build on another PC, if you install 10130 on another PC, sign in with your MSA, you'll still get Insider builds without leaving the Insider Program.
This is just my understanding of it, but if I'm wrong, anyuone correct me :-)

Error message on my Windows Update page:

"Theres a problem getting preview builds
your preview build settings nned attention. go to advanced options to fix this issue"

I go into advanced settings, and see that my MS Account is linked correctly.

"Your security settings need attention to get preview builds."
"fix this issue" button, click this, and it says in order to make this change it needs to restart the PC. I do this, but it doesn't fix the problem

The problem of not being able to get Insider Preview builds persists after a "reset windows 10 and remove everything" reset.

Answer:Win10 refuses to get Insider Preview Builds

If you don't mind reinstalling all the 3rd party programs you have installed, then do a CLEAN install.
Backup your personal files to an external hard drive or an USB flash drive.
Download the current Win 10 ISO from Tech Bench link below > burn it to a bootable DVD or USB > then do a clean install.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw...load/techbench
If you are asked for a product key, just click the SKIP option and continue.
Activation will be automatic.

Once you have a clean copy of Windows 10 running, then enable the Get Insider Preview Builds option.

I looked in the search engine to see if this topic had been covered but didn't find anything. And, to be honest, I don't know if I should be here in the Win10section or the 8.1 area.

Anyway, I upgraded to Win10 some time ago and there's just too many problems with it, so I want to go back to 8.1 How do I do that, please and thank you?

I'm a student, and my university installed Windows 8.1 Enterprise on my personal laptop. I'd like to upgrade to Windows 10 (Pro, preferrably), but I likely won't do that if I have to pay for it myself. My understanding is that Enterprise versions won't get free upgrades to Windows 10 come July 29th.
Is there any way that I can do this for free? I'm signed up as a Windows Insider, but I haven't installed any builds yet because this is my only machine and I'm finishing my dissertation--- can't afford for anything to go wrong right now! (Also, while I'm pretty tech-savvy, I'm not an IT professional, and I wouldn't know where to begin if something truly failed.)
Thanks!

Answer:Any way I can move from Win8.1 Enterprise to Win10 insider preview for free?

Which version of windows was on your laptop before your university put the enterprise version on it?
If this was a win7 or 8 then you could reinstall this and you would be able to get the free W10.
(You,personal, can not get a free upgrade for the enterprise version because it's "not yours" it's a volume license so your university could update the license to W10 and then your laptop could go to W10)

Hello all,

Real quick, I'm having an issue where I try to update from Build 15031.rs2_release.170204-1546 to the next rs2_release available via Windows Update. The update downloads, does the pre-install, boots me into the traditional blue screen of updating, finishes, then reboots me to get back into the OS. At this juncture, I am at a blue flag and white dot circle, which has stopped spinning (it spins for approx .75 seconds) and halts, machine stays in this state ad infinitum. I can reboot it, at which point it goes back to the same state. If i shut down, then power back up instead (cold boot), the machine reverts the upgrade and goes back to the previous build and everything is honkey dorey.

Thing 1) I do not have a wireless USB mouse/dongle. Please don't recommend I remove it as one does not exist.
Thing 2) I have removed two possible culprits (Creative SoundBlaster Z card, Asus Wireless-N card). No change.
Thing 3) I have unplugged all video (except 1 Display Port), all USB connections, and the Ethernet cable. No change.
Thing 4) I even went so far as to disconnect my NZXT water cooler USB connector from the motherboard header and reboot. No change.

Most posts I see, it's a "Oh, your wireless usb mouse is causing issues" or, "the PC is having issues discovering USB devices during it's boot process, disconnect them". Well, I've done it, and it's still busted. This has happened with /every/ developer preview update since Win 10 was release. The first... Read more

I read through this and don't see anything I can help with except for what could be called a stupid question: Could it be your computer is too good for the IP versions? I pose that only because I have IP on a Dell 530 SFF computer and a Dell Optiplex 755 computer from back in Vista and Win7 days and working fine. I did have to use an Add-in Video card in both as the onboard graphics adapter had no drivers for Win10.

I had booked windows 10 (family), and got it on my computer a few days before July 29th, without doing nothing.
Now I'm back to insider preview (build 10525) without doing nothing either.
My computer works alright, but I would like to understand :-)
Did anyone had the same "problem", and how can it be solved ?
Thanks in advance

HI Guys
How can I roll back from Windows 10 Insider Preview 17017.1000 (rs_prerelease) to the current stable version when i do not have Windows.old.

THis current release is a nightmare BSOD & GSOD i am only on slow release as well.
So is it possible to do without a fresh install; I want to keep all my apps files and settings.

Answer:Can i Roll Back from Windows 10 Insider Preview 17017.1000

No, alas.

Possibilities:
1. Restore your PC using a previously created disk image. We constantly urge people to use disk imaging routinely E.g. Macrium Reflect (free). That's especially relevant to people taking risks with what are effectively trial builds.
2. Image what you have. Clean install a stable build. Buy a licence for the appropriate Laplink or Easeus product. Using that and your image you can automatically reinstall most of your programs and recreate settings etc.
(One-off license)

You would need to work out how much your time is worth, given the number of reinstalls and configuration, vs the license fee and a shorter task.

Today is the official release of Windows 10. I want to upgrade to the release version. I'm checking for updates and there's no update available.
I'm running on build 10166. I tried rolling back to 8.1, but it recovered to the same build (10166) of Windows 10 IP. I have lost my activation as well and can't reactivate Windows.
Anyone know a better way to update to the release version of Windows 10?

Hi,
I installed the technical preview on my Surface Pro (gen 1), It's great and all. Gets smoother with each update, however, I'd like to revert back to 8.1 pro so I can reserve my copy of Windows 10.
I don't exactly know if the tech preview will auto-update to the full OS when Win10 releases July29 and I've tried to search for an answer to that question and the answers I find refer to Microsoft releasing "ISOs" when the full OS comes out and I don't know how to do those things so that's why I want to revert back and reserve.
This is my first time trying out OS preview builds. I made a USB recovery drive before I installed it though.
I tried using it to refresh my SurfacePro back to windows 8.1 using my USB recovery drive, but the only option I get when it comes to choosing a target operating system to refresh is just windows 10.
Any help with this?
Thanks

Some possible fixes
Uninstall and reinstall.
Try LSRT.

Hi folks,
although I opted out of the insider program about a week ago I still received the newest build to my phone. Since every build thus far had been an improvement I decided to install... Oh boy, of only I hadn't! The current 95.100 build is a real mess; a lot of apps won't even open, no app will stay in cache, so while I write this I have to be careful not to turn off the phone or switch to start screen, otherwise all will be lost. ;p
On top of that there are a million smaller flaws that really take out the joy of using my Lumia 930. It is unacceptable and I have to do something about it. But before rolling ask the way back to 8.1 I wanted to ask if there was a way to revert back to e.g. .164?
Thanks for your time, advice is much appreciated!

I ran into an issue during a build of Win Prev plus my RAM needed replaced, which was expected sooner or later, and had to reinstall windows with a recovery disk. The disk I have is for Windows 7. So now that I'm back on Windows 7 I'm having issues reregistering my pc for the insider program and unable to figure out how to reinstall the Insider Preview. I may be just too tired and missing something obvious here....but if anyone can point me in the right direction to get the Insider Preview reinstalled that would be great. I have some old instructions on how to do this (I currently have Win 7 and Win 10 and want to add Win 10 insider version) but they do not work with Win 10.
The instructions I have involve a command prompt to rebuildbcd. But with Win 10, when I get to Troubleshoot/Advanced Options there is no command prompt option.

Answer:How to triple boot, Win 7/Win10/Win10 Insider

The rebuildbcd worked by booting from a USB drive that has Win 10 Insider. Going to Repair and advanced then to command promp, entering bootrec /rebuildbcd I was able to add the Win 10 insider to the boot list.

With both drives installed start command prompt and type msconfig and press enter. Go to the Boot tab and tell me how many entries do you see. In mine I have five entries.
In order to triple boot like you want you will need to see three entries.

I messed up! I and I alone decided to download Win10 on our family laptop and my family hates it. We are not the most tech advanced family, we don't have one account for every individual its only the administrator account,. I managed to figured out how to revert back to Win7 but it says that the files have been deleted. I went online to find a solution but we are very confused. Microsoft has a site to download win7 if you have the product key which we do but because our computer came preinstalled with Win7 64 bit home premium by the manufacture Toshiba inc. we have to contact them. But aren't most computers preinstalled with some operating system? Well Toshiba wants to sell us a disk for over $100 i forget the price. Does anyone have a solution to this problem I have to pay the $100 out of my own pocket for not asking permission first.

Answer:How to revert to win7 after downloading win10?

I'd make a backup of your current windows 10 state, just in case, and try installing from the download.
You'll need to find some drivers for your components, but it shouldn't be hard with google, and if it doesn't work then restore to windows 10 from the backup and then you'd need to buy the disc from Toshiba unless you still have your original recovery disk which should have came with the laptop.

Answer:Win 10 Insider preview to Win 10

If you can't get the update via Windows Update (in Settings), the best thing to do is to roll back to your original Windows version and upgrade to Windows 10 from there. Note that if Insider Preview has been installed for longer than 30 days, you will not be able to roll back. If that's the case you will have to clean install Windows 10 or your original version of windows.

Doesn't matter what antivirus you use, it will not going to protect you 100% all the time. That basically say, as long you have a good common sense, Windows Defender should do fine. You can add Malwarebytes Anti Exploit to protect against exploits, and Malwarebytes Anti Ransomware BETA to protect against ransomware, and Malwarebytes Anti Malware free and Hitman Pro for weekly on demand scanner.

To clear up, I want to know if it's worth downloading the insider preview on my Nokia Lumia 830? Why I ask is I know the first initial release of Win 10 Mobile is coming out in a week but I'm really eager (like really hyped) to see what's different from WP 8.1 to WP 10. I've seen so many screen shots that I just want to try it but I don't want to have to go through all of that hassle, just to have to reset it a week later. I'm very conflicted about it.
So should I take my chances and go all out or wait for the official release?

Answer:Downloading the insider preview on my 830?

I was in the same boat until finally trying it last week on my daily driver L830. But I first hard reset 8.1, then installed Insider Preview app, updated to W10M, then a final hard reset. And I started fresh and did not restore a backup.
I'm happy with it so far. Battery life is not that great but it has stabilized after a few days. Not running many apps in the background. No major issues. But I haven't installed this latest cumulative 10586.29 update yet. I'll probably wait till official OTA carrier release before trying another update or hard reset.

A friend of mine's laptop has insider preview installed and activated with a Microsoft account. The current version has expired and he can't boot to desktop. Can I get the latest insider preview iso and reactivate how Win 10 insider preview. How do I go about this?

Answer:Insider preview expired

I would need more info.

1. Before there is the now expired Insider Preview, what was the previous operating system running in that computer ?
If it was Win 7.................... which edition ? Home Basic, Home Premium, Pro, Ultimate ?
If it was Win 8/8.1.....................which edition ? Home or Pro ?
Was the copy genuine ?

2. Do you have the product key for that previous operating system.

Hello.

Everytime I open Windows Update I get a red line of text saying that I must approve some sort of config for the Insider Preview program. I never intended to do so. Why is this line appearing? Any ideas?.

PS - Forgot to say that my Win build is 14393.105

Answer:Annoying nag about Insider Preview

This one?

It's a minor but annoying bug in 1607 (didn't happen in 1511). It's triggered by clicking on the 'Windows Insider Programme' option in 'Update & Security'. If (like me) you are not an insider then you cannot get this message to go away.

To remove it you'll have to use regedit. Got to:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\UI\Visibilityand delete all keys except the one called (Default).

I have 3 computers and 1 VM I will be putting Windows 10 on.

Toshiba Laptop - using IP build 10240 - originally upgraded from 8.1 Pro. I will continue IP here, opt in.
Dell Laptop - using IP build 10240 - originally upgraded from 8.1 Pro. I do not want IP here any more, want to opt out.
Lenovo Desktop running 8.1 Pro. No IP and don't want IP.
Oracle VM on 8.1 Pro system running IP build 10240 - Clean install build 10122 then upgraded to 10240. - Continue IP, opt in.

All use the same MS account though on 8.1 I use a local account even though a MS account is setup.

So my question is, what gets what?

Toshiba laptop continues in IP so stays at 10240 + updates?
Dell laptop - I will have to restore 8.1 then do the free upgrade to 10?
Lenovo desktop - free upgrade to 10?
Oracle VM continues in IP so stays at 10240 + updates?

Can you post a screenshot please? 10240 is the final build, Insiders who are running it have exactly the same build as people who've upgraded.

Answer:W10 for phone comes for PFD or only in Insider preview?

Only through the Insider Preview you can get the TP builds and not through PFD.
And for the official build you do not need any of the above apps.

Answer:How can I upgrade from the Insider Preview to RTM?

Current info is that the Insider Preview build 10124 is the same as the RTM, so there's no need to upgrade.

IF you're asking how to upgrade from the Insider version to the Released version -- you can't. To get the Released version, you have to either do a clean install (in which case you won't be able to activate because there are no keys at present), or you have to restore the previous Win7/8/8.1 and upgrade from that.

Hello everyone.

I have installed a win 10 insider preview on my laptot as soon as they announced them. Now I haven't been using my laptot for nearly a half a year and got stuck. I changed the date in BIOS to 2016, and was able to boot into windows, but like ten error showed after login. It's a 14391 insider preview, and it won't update to anything newer, because it's still saying, that timestamps says it is out of expiration date. And when I wanted to change the date, it wouldn't let me, saying that I don't have the permissions. I also checked, that this version expired a month ago, but how should I knew that before. I then restarted my PC, and now it won't boot anymore, even after BIOS date change. What should I do?

Thanks for any advice.

PS: I still have Win 7 installed on this laptop if it can help something (or can use Linux Live usb, or even plug hdd into another computer).

I can't seem to find any firm answer to this online, so i thought I'd check here. More than a year ago now I built a cheap pc from parts I had lying around so that my young kids, who are just starting to type up presentations for school, didn't trash my machine .

Anyway, I installed the Insider Preview version of Win 10 onto a blank drive and they have been using it ever since. I thought I read somewhere that after the free upgrade period expired in the summer, the Insider Preview versions would become a legal version, and for a while that what it showed on that machine. More recently though, the preview build number is now shown on the bottom right of the desktop where previously it was blank.

The latest slow ring update borked web browsing for us, apparently a clash with the free version of AVG I had (now removed in order to see web sites!), but that got me to thinking that since this machine has become quite a big part of my kids daily use, maybe it's time to drop out of the Insider program.

What I cannot seem to find out is what will happen as far as the license goes - TLDR, if we drop out, will we have to pay for a full retail license, or does it just stay activated as it is?

I've been on the insider on my 1520 for a while and the latest build is working ok. Now the insider builds have been split between devices I'm worried that the builds for the new devices will be a step or two backwards in terms of bugs and usability.
Thanks.

I'm sorry to create a new thread. This topic has been addressed in other threads, but it's hard to make heads or tails "IF" I should, or "IF" I can even do this. Driver compatibility, software, et.

In a nutshell, I want to take a computer with Windows 10 factory install, and install Windows 7.

Again, I know there's tons of variables, but here's the crux:

I can't build a custom machine b/c I want to take advantage of 0% financing from a particular retailer.

I want to buy one of the better Desktop machines I can afford ($700+/- from a National retailer)... (fastest processor I can afford (prob. Intel), most RAM I can afford, most Hard Drive Space I can afford, et.). All of their machines have Windows 10 factory installed of course (a few have win8 -but they aren't as fast, less memory, et).

I've had a new Windows 10 machine for about a week now. I just don't like Windows 10. I've spent far too much time tweaking settings, adding icons, figuring out privacy settings, trying to make Win10 compatible w/ 3rd party programs... on and on. I see its upside, but it's not for me -I guess I'm old school and "know what I like".

**So, given the above scenario... can I take a Clean Windows 7 Install, w/ product Key, install Win 7 and revert a NEW Win 10 machine back to Windows 7? **

I had to assist a customer of mine today who had allowed his Win7 system to upgrade to Win10
The PC was suffering frequent total lockups with no obvious cause - other than the upgrade.
There were no event log clues or crash dumps - so hunt the bug or downgrade back to Win7 ??

I downgraded him back to Win7 and used GRC Never10 to keep him there.
Fixed a few corrupted applications and all was well

Except for one thing - the Task Scheduler had masses of corrupted task error messages
Apparently the revert from Win10 back to Win7 is known to cause this problem
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/80e4f83d-1529-4405-b8e3-d1d636f8b71c

I found a special utility that repairs the Win7 Task Scheduler Library
https://repairtasks.codeplex.com/
The reviews look really good - might be worth a look if you encounter this issue

Doug Collins - Computer Support Engineer - London UK

Answer:Task Scheduler trashed after you revert to Win7 from Win10

Hi DougCuk,

Yes,I've used it and it certainly does what it says on the tin.

As a side note my machine was faster before the repair so had to go into task scheduler to stop/disable some tasks

But other than that a beautifully written utility.

Answer:New Computer w/ Win10 Factory Install >> Revert to Win7?

So long as the hardware in the computer has support for Windows 7, you shouldn't have any problem installing Windows 7.

This use of the word "revert" is incorrect here. You won't be "reverting", you'll be "downgrading".
If the computer uses UEFI, you'll need to ensure that your Windows 7 install media was created relatively recently, or create your own.\

You'll want to completely wipe the hard drive of all partitions when you go to install windows 7 as windows 7 doesn't use the same recovery partition configuration as Windows 10, and you'll likely not want to waste that space.

When I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 Pro my Win 10 was activated. I decided to stay on the Insider Preview and today was upgraded to version 10525. I have had a similar issue almost every time when I have been trying to join a new machine to Insider program. In my case I have had to turn AV real time protection off and disable firewall to get it work, then when done turn AV on again and enable firewall.

I think it's at least worth to try, it just might be that it works also when trying to leave Insider program.

However I still did not get any update.

Is there any new way to force this update?

Hi
If I register myself in the Insider Program, can I try to install Windows 10 on a machine that has Windows XP already running? Can I leave the program at any time? I know that If I leave the program my Windows 10 license become inactive. In that case can I reinstall Windows XP again, or I can't because there is already the registration of the componentes in Microsoft servers when I was running 10 on the machine?
Thanks in advance

Answer:Testing Insider Preview on XP machine

The first question is whether the WinXP can meet the requirements for Win10. The next question would be if Win10 will have drivers for the devices on the WinXP computer, most times won't. I've not heard of WinXP working with the digital entitlement of Win10. Win10 was not offered as a free Upgrade to WinXP [only Win7 w/SP1 and Win8.1] so would assume that wouldn't be a path for Upgrading. And I haven't seen a Retail version of Win10 that can Upgrade over WinXP or WinVista. That said, I have Upgraded a couple of WinXP computers to Win10 but only after Upgrading to Win7 w/SP1 so as to get the freebie. There were drivers available for those Win7 computers which will be a key item for the ability to Upgrade, Win10 may or may not work with Win7 drivers.

If you would like to test the "Core" version...

Replace the pid.txt with an ei.cfg file. You can then select Home edition at setup - during setup it will prompt for a key but you have the option to skip, it will activate automatically with this key after completion: BD8NM-JGY2P-8JJYD-WTYKR-HQRJM.

ei.cfg:

If going the ESD upgrade route, upgrading a Seven Home Premium or less or the basic Windows 8, you get Windows 10 Home.

Hi Guys and Gals

I used to have windows 10 Insider Preview running on a separate partition on my laptop, until recently.
I had a choice at boot-up as to which operating system I wanted, either the Insider or my regular Windows 10 Pro, then, all of a sudden the choices were not there. I just couldn't get into the Insider system.
I thought that if I deleted the system I would be able to download a fresh installation, but, I just can't find an installation that will load. I keep getting the error message "winload.exe has expired" and there is nothing I can do to get my Insider programme to load and work.
Please, please, has anybody got any ideas as to what I can do next, I still want to be a member of the Insider programme, but can't download a loadable replacement.

Waiting with fingers crossed

If you have no eligible system for a free upgrade (and Vista is not eligible), then you will have to buy a Windows 10 license. The insider preview versions will eventually expire and will be useless plus they are not eligible for a free upgrade.

Just got it updated while I was out fixing other folks' problems, got back and the computer wanted to restart. Now I get no text on the various screens during startup, just blank dialog boxes. Can't get any program icons on the Start menu, can't get Settings show any of the choices to find the way to go back to 14905 which worked just fine. Can get to some of the things on the right-click of the Start button, need to find how to go back to 14905 from a Command Prompt. The icons on the Taskbar will bring up programs which lets me do a few things such as get this screenshot:

I can get Settings to come up but again no text in it.

Answer:Insider Preview 14915 broken

Just no text, or the links are broken too? Because, we could guide you to click correct choices, or you can check on some other PC...

sfc /scannow doesn't help either probably...

Did anyone receive a message on thier phone that a restart is waiting to update your phone? I got one today and I did and my L1520 on Wph 10 is running smoother and faster.

Answer:Windows 10 mobile insider preview

I've been getting those messages for over a week. I bet you're still on the same OS version because MS hasn't released anything yet.

You can't get Insider Fast on the 920, it isn't on the supported list.If you use Insider on the Release Ring, the same version is fetched as the recent public Upgrade received by these phones (10.0.10586.xxx): Phones Eligible for Windows 10 Mobile Official. If your phone is not on the supported list, then 10586.xxx (Threshold) is the end of the line. You may as well use Insider and select Production to un-enroll your phone from Insider, but at least you have W10M. WaaS (Windows as a Service) will deliver future updates within Threshold to you without any Insider access required.Check out this thread: Windows Insider Testing and You [Recommended Guidelines]For right now, Windows Device Recovery Tool is only flashing 8.1 to models that did not launch with 10 so it is the way to revert if you don't care for W10M: Windows Device Recovery Tool FAQIf you need additional help or have more questions or details to share, please join the site so you can reply in this thread. Another day, another week and finally another leak build from Wzor yes this is dubbed 10102 and has wiped my mind I am so amazed at how far this Build has gone through and as I say this yes it is a bit new. Also the build 10105, 10107 and 10108 remain imminent. So WZOR might have some leaked builds ready for tomorrow or in the next few days. Yes 10102 are now available: https://mega.co.nz/#!6F9hlZSS!wBjS3plB1Lj7pkACPfnSHtawe2X7sS41TcZGrK9Cijg

Answer:Windows 10 Insider Preview 10102!

Do not recommend bothering w/ leaked Builds.  "Everything comes to he who waits"

I've have two Dell desktop PCs currently receiving Insider Preview updates (currently both at IP 14332). I see no reason to keep my newest desktop XPS8700 in the IP stream. I recently upgraded the XPS8700 to PRO last February. The older desktop coverted over to Pro when it coverted To Win 10.

It would seem the process should be straight forward and simple but I find it a bit confusing
Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer:Removal of one of my PC's from Insider Preview updates

On the machine in question, choose to stop receiving insider builds.

Settings -> Update and security - Windows insider program -> Button at top.

Hi guys,
I had rolled back to Windows Phone 8.1 on both my lumia phones almost 2 months back & wanted to try the current channel. I have installed the Windows insider, enrolled for the fast ring and to my disappointment, no updates were anymore to be found.
Does it mean I can never avail the current preview channel on these lumia phones?

Does it mean I can never avail the current preview channel on these lumia phones? Exactly, as MS Insider team warned. Uneligible phones can't use Insider anymore because Release Preview Ring is reserved to Redstone builds now, no more Threshold (available for X2X serie too).
But there the solution : [Guide] Installing Redstone on Unsupported devices (X2X Series)

Greetings All,

I am on 14393.351 build. I would like to opt back into the Preview builds to test the latest build.

My question is, if i upgrade to latest build, can i opt out of getting any future Preview builds without having to go back to Anniversary build (14393.0) or could i stay on the latest build??

I read Brink's tutorial but my brain just ain't computing today - i thought it said i could stay on the latest Preview build & opt out? I know that wasn't the case earlier but i'm not sure what the buzz is now.

Thanks for any & all replies!

Answer:Opting In & Out of Insider's Preview Builds

Preview builds will expire. You can opt out at any time and stay on the current insider build that you have installed, but it will expire on the predetermined date and stop booting.
