Outlook 365 email date-time wrong on sent emails

Question: Outlook 365 email date-time wrong on sent emails

I've been having this problem for about 1 week and I'm tearing my hair out. I send an email (happens on all accounts) and the time date is correct in my sent folder, but when I receive a reply from the recipient I notice that the time date is a different time and 1-1/2 years in the future.
This happens when using Windows mail on my desktop (Windows 10) or through Outlook from my browser. I've tried both Firefox (my default) and Edge. Some problem all around.
My date, time and region settings are all correct. I have removed and re-added accounts through Outlook online and Windows Mail.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Outlook 365 email date-time wrong on sent emails

That time is when receive on your email server. The time setting is messed up on your email server. If you send yourself an email it still goes thru a SMTP server to your incoming email server.

On the 30th of Dec. my "received" column in Outlook 2002 changed to the 2003. Now it says 2004. The date in the actual email is correct when I open it.

It only does this with messages that I receive thru Yahoo. The ones I get thru another server have the right date.

All other programs and even the calendar in Outlook 2002 are all correct. It seems that Yahoo is somehow sending the wrong code to my browser.

This has not happened to me before and is doing it on both my computers.

I can't find a tech support address at Yahoo. Anyone have one for them?

Please help. I am frustrated!

HELP!! Does anyone know HOW to customzie the Date and Time stamp on emails in Outlook 2010? I want each and every single email to show up in my Inbox (whether read or un-read/new) as the DATE, i.e. 6/19/2012 9:24am I do NOT want the words "Today" or "Yesterday" or "Tues" - AND - I want the entire DATE to appear and the TIME to appear on every message. I find and sort emails by time and date. I used to have that as a default in Outlook 2003. How do I change the default in 2010 to be what I want?

The clock on my PC is right, but in Outlook it is wrong, I changed from Outlook Express. The time is wrong on incoming emails. I've triple checked the PC clock and triple checked the Outlook clock settings; both are correct. Outbound emails show the correct time, but incoming are 1 hour late on the displayed time. I've been to the MS website and checked everything. Also, under PC clock settings/internet time gives me an error msg when I try to synch the time with internet time as well . It's driving me NUTS

I hope someone can help. I can't really say if it's from switching from OE to O, or from the early daylights saving time...I'm guessing the latter.

The other problem I'm having with Outlook is importing emails. I have Comcast and those emails transmit fine; sending and receiving. But, work uses FuseMail for webmail, which imports into Outlook fine, but when I try to respond to work emails in Outlook, it will not send the emails. I have listed in the settings. Any advice?

Thank you

Hello - strange problem one of our users is having - when she picks up a draft email (she has previously prepared) then sends it, the email is recieved with the draft date, instead of the sending date. This means that the recipient cant see the new message (they will find it in listed as being recieved on the "draft" date). I have been unable to duplicate this error! Has anyone heard of this happening?

I'm using Outlook 2003 and have multiple email accounts. I just switched the default email account. However, when I send someone an email it says it is from the old default email address. I've looked at the properties of my new default account and no where in there does it mention this older email account. Outlook clearly is showing that the email is going out on my new default email account but the reply to email or the from portion is from another email account. Any suggestions?

I have Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 running on a Windows NT 4.0 SP6 server. All is well except for the 'sent' date on emails. Due to the rule in the Outlook calendar where all entries are pushed forward or back an hour when the time zone changes we have the "Automatically update for British Summertime" box unchecked on each server and computer and simply change the time every six months. The time on the email server is correct and the time on the desktop computers is correct. However when we send external emails they seem to arrive an hour before they were sent and when we send internal emails they seem to arrive an hour after they were sent. This does not make sense and I don't know where else to look for time settings, can anyone help please?

Answer:Exchange Server putting wrong date on emails

Delete the rules and see what it does. The emails should only get the timestamp from the server.

Hi guys,

I have windows 7 proffessional x64 on a dell studio laptop and my problem is this;

When I shutdown my laptop and turn it back on again the time and date are wrong. I have had dell replace my motherboard twice and had 2 new CMOS batteries installed. This did work for a while but then it started again. I have tried using a different server for the internet sync but that had the same problems. I have been looking through forums and can't seem to find anyone who has found an answer for this particular problem.

I am sure that someone out there knows what the issue is.

Please help me

Answer:Wrong date and time

Hiya pal & welcome to the forums.

This isn't a fix but maybe a workaround. Have you tried a third party app like time sync etc. Here's a link to a free one that might help you out SP TimeSync. synchronize your computer's clock with any high precision atomic time server

Here's another one but I don't know if it works with 64bit atomic-clock sync

Ok here's the deal.

A friend's clock kept getting out of synch and was causing problems since many of her programs rely on the date (accounting). Anyhow, obviously the first thought was that the battery on the mobo was dead/dying and needed to be replaced. After doing that I left assuming everything would be copacetic.

But no. That wasn't the problem. I'm going to run a check for viruses but I have a feeling that's not it. Any other suggestions?

Have you checked Settings/Region to ensure the Country/Region is correct, and Settings/Date+Time to make sure that Set Automatically is on? That should get time and date from your carrier network.

I have a brand-new computer with a clean install of Win 10 which I've been using for about 10 days now. While the system time is always correct, every couple of days when I boot the system the date will be off by a day or two, usually ahead. I have reset the date in the BIOS and keep resetting it in the Date and Time screens of Settings. I have experimented with synchronizing both with NIST and Windows time servers. So far nothing has solved the incorrect date problem. Since it's a new box it seems unlikely the CMOS battery is at fault, and even if it were that should result in incorrect times as well as dates. Where should I look to correct this problem?

Answer:Time correct but date often wrong

I would talk with the vendor ASAP. You may need to exchange the machine within your 30 day free typical time window.

Sounds like the problem occurs when the system was off and then powered up? Is the system overclocked?

It is very possible in that case that your motherboard Bios Battery has died, like all batteries they need replacing at times. They are generally on desktops a button battery type but do consult your motherboard manual on which type to get. This would be the first thing I would be checking.

I just got my hard drive back. I bought the computer in Sept. and the HD went. So it had to go to California. When I got the computer back the time was California time. I clicked on the time in the right hand corner and changed it to Eastern Standard time. It is still accurate in the right hand corner but people are saying my emails times are all wrong. They are receiving them before I've written them. And... to increase the mystery everyone's emails are coming to me with the wrong times. What could be wrong? Is it possible California time is still active somewhere else on the computer?

I'm using Outlook Mail. I went to my mail on roadrunner and the times are accurate so the problem is somewhere on my computer.

Answer:Time is wrong on emails

I changed the time and thought I'd set the time zone but evidently I didn't. I reset it to Eastern Standard and checked Daylight savings and the time on emails is accurate. Hope it's fixed for good.

Hello. Here is my issue short and sweet.

When I use ANY of the web based emails (Yahoo, Gmail, Comcast) on computer A, all of my emails are stamped an hour earlier than real time. By real time, I mean the clock on the computer AND the analog tick-tock clock on my kitchen wall. Both display the correct time accurately.

When I use ANY of the web based emails (Yahoo, Gmail, Comcast) on computer B (or C or D), all of my emails are stamped with real/correct time that matches my kitchen and computer. These computers ALSO reflect correct time.

With either computer, any file created or saved has a date and time stamp that is correct and reflects real time. Whether saved with a web app, a windows app or a cmd line app.

On all computers my time zone is set correctly. The "adjust for DST" box is checked. I also ran TZEDIT to confirm that my DST dates are correct.

One revelation (and I believe herein lies the key). If I look on computer A at the bottom of the "Date and Time Properties box: the current time zone says : Eastern *STANDARD* time. If I look at computers B, C or D. The "Date and Time Properties box says: current time zone: Eastern *DAYLIGHT* time. I can not find any way to change the "STANDARD" to "DAYLIGHT".

Now for the big question. How is this resolved?

Thank you.

I have a situation where someone has 2 email addresses. One of them is now redundant and I have deleted it from the People section. However, when I am set to make a new email to that person and type the first letter of their name, in the pop up window (that you can click on) their old email address still appears.
How do I delete this from that list? Can find no way to do so.

In new email, start typing the address you want to remove. When you have enough characters for auto complete to show it (sometimes one letter is enough), use DOWN ARROW key on keyboard to select the address in question and press DEL key.

This is very strange. I created a time tracking system for the company I work for. What they do is enter the time they start each task throughout the day and at the end of the week it all gets imported via VBA into an access database for the manager to review time cards. We had a need for people to be able to edit a record after importing so I set it up to do that. Problem is I found out when Excel sends the "start time" over to Access, it is sending over the time, for the year 1899. If I open Excel on my PC, click on Cell A1 and type 8:15 AM and hit enter, it shows in the bar at the top "8:15 AM". If i store that time in a variable in VBA and format it to show the year associated with that time it comes through as "12/30/1899 8:15 AM". This totally screws up my ability to edit records because when I programmed Excel to edit records it is searching based on a date/time to find the unique record because for John Doe and his time card he will have only one job starting at 8:15 AM on 4/9/12. So it looks up the record by the combination of the date and time. Problem is Excel is not storing a time as "today at this time" so lookups are failing because the year is wrong.

How come if I type in 8:15 AM in Excel it is not stored as 4/9/12 8:15 AM? The date is in a different cell on the sheet so if there is a way I can append the date with the time I guess that is what I will have to do. But as of yet I don't know how to do that.

Hi, All,I have recently installed Format Factory and am very happy with it except for one thing: It stamps the wrong date and time on every converted file. I've had no response from their support e-mail. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to correct this?Ted.

Answer:Format Factory has wrong date & time on converted file.

Which date are you referring to. A file has three dates associated with it. Created date, modified date and accessed date. They can all be different. What format factory is probably doing is changing the creation date while leaving the accessed and/or midifed date the same or some other permutation.Be careful though as you can have a created date that is later than the modified date. There is a perfectly logical reason for this as the created date is the date it was created on that particular computer although it may have been modified at an earlier date on another computer.Stuart

I have a user on the network whose Outlook is putting "27 January, 1998" on every one of his outgoing messages. His PC "clock" is keeping accurate time & date. Anyone seen this behavior before? Have a solution?

Answer:Outlook uses wrong date

Most likely, your user has dd MMMM yyyy set as the date format under Start-Settings-Control Panel-Regional Settings, Date tab. Whether it's his short or long date, I'm not sure. Generally, here in the US, they would be mm/dd/yyyy and can be selected from the dropdown or the appropriate format typed in, such as I had to do to duplicate the behavior on the short date field.

I have spoke to someone who is dependent on sending customers' emails. It is vital that the email dates are correct. I think the problem started when the clocks went ahead.I have instructed them to do all updates for outlook 2003. I verified that the problem is not related to their email host. The date stramps are correct when they send out email usijng webmail. Her computer is free of viruses and spyware and is maintained very well. She did a detect and repair as well. She has Mcafee as her antivirus scanner and no firewalls that I know of.I spoke to her email server and they have not any such issues regarding their server.Maybe someone out there has dealt with thiis before. My hunch is that maybe by upgrading to outlook 2007, this problem would get resolved. I have a gmail account I use to communicate with my former spouse about concerning our children. On at least three occasions I have found emails in this account 'appear' out of thin air so to speak. I understand now that email date and time can be spoofed. What's the best countermeasure for this? Is there any way to prove a date and time was spoofed? Could anyone recommend a lay persons article or thread that might help me understand some options for better security? I realize gmail may not be my best option.

Answer:Email date and time spoof

Email is not a secure application. Using any programming language, one can write a short program to send email using any email address one chooses. The spoof is not just the time and date, but also the 'from' address too. To counter that, one can use PGP to generate digital signatures. PGP creates a pair of keys, a private one and a public one. To generate a signature, the sender takes her message and combine it with her private key to produce a signature block of scrambled text, and attaches it to the email. You upon receiving it, use her public key to verify the signature block. If the message is original and not modified, the signature will verify.

I am using Outlook 2007 and i keep about 2 years of all sent emails in the Sent emails folder.

The automatic archive for this folder are set so that any emails older than 2 years, are moved to the archive folder.

A number of months ago (been too busy to tackle this until now and can't remember if it started before i moved to Windows 7 or after) i noticed that many emails in my Sent folder have blank headers. By that i mean the following are blank Sent: Date and the To: Recipient's name

These emails appear to be all older than 4 months... but i am only guessing this based on looking at the content of the email and trying to remember when i sent them.

When i click on the email the content looks ok for the first few lines... and then the rest of the content seems to be chopped.

I have only seen this in the Sent folder, although i have many other large folders.

Recently I?ve had emails from two friends in separate far eastern countries whose emails to me have date-time stamps which are 7 and 9 hours ahead. By this I mean the date-time shown in my Outlook 2002/XP inbox is correct but the date-time shown in the email content when I reply as being 7 and 9 hours ahead, respectively.I have verified with both friends that the date-times shown in my Outlook are always the correct UK date-times relative to when they sent their emails. Their PC clocks are also correctly set to their local time zones. Their time zone differences do not relate to the 7 and 9 hours date-time differences. They use different ISPs, in different countries and I do not have correspondents using the same ISPs to see if they are the only ones affected. Previous emails from both of them have been fine.Has anyone experienced this phenomenum before? Or know what could cause this?

Answer:Incorrect (ISPs’?) Email date-time stamps

Turns out to be a case of "user error" for one of my friends. She was adament she has the correct date and time set. Which she did. But she had the Time Zone set incorrectly as for another country where she was at!! Every time she corrected the Date and Time, the automatic weekly Internet Time check and adjustment changed it to the Time Zone she still had on her computer!Chances are that the other friend has done exactly the same thing so I?ll tick this as resolved.

Hi everybody,

i got the problem in my outlook express that in the date and time.
The problem is, let say i send email on 25 Mar 2005 and the time is 1.05pm.
But when the receiver receive the email, the email date shown is 26 Mar 2005 and the time is 4.25am. That mean the receiver cannot know the exact date and time i send to him.
And my computer date and time is no problem.
So anybody can give me advce for this problem?

Answer:outlook express error date and time

But when the receiver receive the email, the email date shown is 26 Mar 2005 and the time is 4.25am.Click to expand...

Does that happen with email from anyone but you?

The receiver (or you) should click the clock in the system tray and check to make sure the time and date are correct. And also the time zone. Other than that, it could be a server or the location of the server that is causing the problem.

Outlook Express 6: When I view my sent items folder, the date & time in the SENT column displays the actual date / time that the message was sent. However, when I open the messasge to forward, print etc., the date displayed in the header changes to the current date & time. How do I fix this?

I have a problem with Outlook Express. When I delete emails I no longer want to keep (from Inbox, Outbox, Sent and any of my other Local Folders) and then run Scandisk it will frequently show an error (and sometimes more than one error). A typical error message looks like -

Window Heading - 'Scandisk Found an Error on Model 93 (C

The 'C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook Express'
folder contains incorrect information about 'Sent Items.dbx'

This file or folder's last modified date or time is invalid or is in the future.
This may be because your computer's clock is set incorrectly.
ScanDisk repairs future dates by changing them to your computer's
current date setting. ScanDisk repairs out-of-range dates or time by
changing them to the nearest setting within the valid range.

Then there is a choice of three repair options - I always choose to
'Repair the error'

The folder in the error message varies quite a bit as does the '.DBX' file. An other frequent error folder is
'C:\RECYCLED\NPROTECT and this is followed by a DBX file with 8 numeric digits followed by .dbx (eg 00004188.DBX

I should make it clear my system clock is at the correct time, I rarely change the time and, certainly, I don't change the time when I'm using any program (including Outlook Express).

Anybody got an idea as to the cause of these errors? Thanks.

I have a situation where a new user has managed to set all 2000+ emails in their bosses inbox (in Outlook 2003) to Read - the boss is not happy. I have explained until I'm blue in the face that there 'may' be better ways to organise their emails...

Does Outlook record a time / date stamp for WHEN an email was marked as read / unread, and is it possible to filter by this so we can effectively select & set all emails not Read before a certain date back to UNREAD.

And save a trainees job.

I have a script I have modified to print all unread pdf files in the inbox and mark them as read. Now I would like to add a date and timestamp to the attachments that print out. So the paper copy says the date/time it was received. Or it could say the filename on the printout since I have it adding the date/time to the filename when saving. Is there a way to add this to the printout?

Dim mailItem As mailItem

Dim myItem As Outlook.mailItem
Dim pdfName As String

This just started.

If I create a new folder in Outlook and move emails there, the date/time stamp of these emails change to the date/time I created the folder.

Doesn't happen when I move them to existing folders though, only new folders.

To see if it's specific to my Outlook, I connected to another on a terminal session and the same problem occurs.

I need to write a rule in Outlook that will sort by date, the option listed is specific dates and i could accomplish what i want by simply editing the rule each week. I work 4 10hr shifts then i have three days off, when i get back to work i have 400+ emails in my inbox. I want to create a rule that will automatically sort all mail that is one day old to a specific .pst folder then i will sort it individually from there but it gets all the previous days stuff out of my inbox so i stop getting that pesky admin message "your mailbox has exceeded its size limit"I would set up individual rules to sort these emails but i need to go through them individually to make sure i see all of them and dont miss anything. From what i have found this can be accomplished through VBscripting option built into outlook, however i'm a bit rusty on program language. Can anyone make a suggestion on how to write this rule?

Answer:custom outlook rule to autosort email by date

why not just your Exchange Administrator to increase your quota? Failing that, setup the auto-archive option to move mail older than a certain number of days. It quite simple.

I started to use the Outlook app on my iPhone and it has a feature where you can make an email reappear in your inbox at date/time you specify (swipe an email to the right, specify a time and the email is removed from your inbox until that time. It's great for returning to important items while sending out of office replies). I love this feature, but haven't found a way to replicate this functionality in Outlook 2010 on my laptop. Is there a way to do this aside from flagging something for follow-up with a reminder?

But, my job uses FuseMail for webmail, which imports into Outlook fine, but when I try to respond to work emails in Outlook, it will not send the emails. I have listed in the settings. Any advice?

Thank you

since this started happening when i turn on, or restart the computer the date is wrong. it is always 2 years wrong.

the date(day/month) is correct so is the time but the year is 2005 not 2007

i have already
-replaced the battery on the motherboard

ive checked the cmos date and set it correct when i replaced the battery,

cmos date time is correct at start up just wrong when i get in to windows.

anyone have any ideas what could cause that? as i haven't got a clue. im not useless with computers so any other details that might be needed could be given.

He accidentally set his time to the correct date, but in 2008, ie. one year ahead.

He quickly fixed the issue by setting the date back to 2007, but still all the received mails are stamped as if they were received in 2008.

Is there any way to revert this to a correct state?

I have an account which I use on desktop (Windows 8) and iphone 4s.
There are a few email addresses on this outlook account, one of which is my domain, run through gmail.
I have enabled IMAP and POP settings in the appropriate gmail settings.
I have added the email of my domain to my account using POP3 info (as wasn't an option to do it another way).
I have enabled POP in options/connect apps and devices with POP in settings.
I cannot use the app as my phone can't have ioS 8 on it, but I have added as an account on the email set up.
The issue is that whilst I receive some emails on both desktop and iphone not all and so I have to check both desktop and mobile each day to ensure that I've seen all my emails which is v frustrating.
Does anyone have anything to suggest that I might have missed in the set up?
Thanks very much

Answer:outlook email problems during receipt of emails

One thing you could try - assuming by the tags that you are using Vista and Outlook 2007 - is the following...

Go 'Start' -> 'Control Panel' -> 'Programs' -> 'Programs and Features' ->
locate 'Microsoft Office <your version here>' -> right click on it -> select 'Change' -> then select 'Repair' and then 'next'...see this process through and try Outlook again.

More questions...
Did you install Office yourself or did it come pre-installed?
How much RAM do you have?
What is your Internet connection?

Outlook 2007 is a real memory hog - anything less than 2GB I have found to be terrible...and particularly with Vista.

I sent myself some new calendar appointments/requests from Outlook at my office to my iPhone (via my hotmail).

For some reason, the invitations that appear on the iPhone are an hour out. E.g. I send a meeting for 0930 and the iPhone enters it as 1030 in the invitations/calendar. I presume it has something to do with the time zones, but these appear to be the same.

It's a problem at the iPhone end, because if I view the invite on my hotmail on a PC, the times are correct.

Anyone had this problem?

Answer:iPhone - calendar invites from Outlook - wrong time

Problem solved! I had been overseas and the time had changed back but the time zone had not.

You also have to change the time zone of the calendar as well as the clock, by switching off automatic.

Hey guys,
Using Outlook express 6 at home, and any emails that are sent or received from it are wrong.
For example, using that email account i send one to my work account, the arrival date on the email at work will be 12hrs from now..
And an email coming into the suspect account will be 8hrs old..

There is no consistency between the time offsets, ive checked the clock and TimeZone settings on the computer, and my internet provider (internode) assures me it is not to do with their end.. Which is true because my other internode account works fine..

Ive even tried the same account on Mozilla on the same computer...

So this all leads me to think it is a particular setting somewhere on the computer in question...

Any ideas? been bugging me for months!

We are running Outlook 2003 in XP SP2 Home Edition. My wife and I each have our own user name, etc.

We have 3 POP email accounts: Hers, Mine and Ours, with different usernames and passwords, all with the same ISP ( I have set up her Outlook account to receive Hers and Ours, with instructions to leave a copy of Our messages on the server for 10 days. Of course, I have set up mine to download Mine and Ours, leaving Ours on the server 10 days. That way, theoretically, I'll see all my email and our email, she'll see all our email and her email, unless one or the other of us doesn't get on for 10 days (highly unlikely...10 hours maybe).

Mine works fine. But she keeps getting stuff like the CERT reports, stuff from The Tech Guy, reviews from ZD Net and other stuff she doesn't want to wade through. When she opens one, at the top it is clearly addressed to me, not her or us. When she pulls down Tools and selects Email accounts, Outlook shows her only two: Hers and Ours. Microsoft KB search reveals nothing; ditto Help search.

Any clues? How come she can't stop getting mail for an account which is not listed in Outlook, or even in Start/Control Panel/Mail/Profiles/Accounts?

Thanx for any suggestions...

I have a person in my office who has discovered her contacts are not correct. Well they are except the display is showing the wrong email address wrong name. So instead of showing

Joe Doe
[email protected]
<Joe Doe [email protected]>

She sees

Joe Doe
[email protected]
<Jane Somebody [email protected]>

obviously sending out other peoples contacts isn't good. From what I understand it goes to the correct person it just shows someone elses contact information
this just started thi afternoon.

Answer:Outlook Shows Wrong Email in Contact

Has she tried deleting the contact from the address book and adding it back? Try it on a couple of them to see if this resolves the issue.

If it does, then she can delete and add back the rest of them. The only downside to this is that it would be tedious to do if she has a lot of contacts.

Maybe someone else will have a better idea for a cure.

Hey guys,
I have a question about coding and setting an excel file to send emails. I am using an excel file to track maintenance work orders and I would like to get an email each day for each work order that is requested to be finished on that days date. I have attached the excel file I am using, and the column that is important is C, "Date Needed" - If that date is today's date, the cell turns red and I would also like to get email notification about it. A separate email for each cell that matches today's date.

Also, if possible, I would like for it to look at all the sheets, not just the current month's sheet. For example, if a work order was filed in July but wasn't needed until September, I would still like to get the email reminding me that it needs to be finished on xx date in September.

I have attached the excel file I want to use.

I have searched all over this forum and others and have found many posts similar to this, but I am not a great manipulator of code, so I cannot get any of the other solutions to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

We send out emails to people that have signed up to our website but not completed the process.

We then receive loads of failed emails due to incorrect addresses, closed addresses, over quota etc.

Currently we have to search each failed email, get the email address and search for that on our member database.

This is very time consuming so I have spoken to our web designer who states that if we could get a list of the email address from the failed emails then he could bring up all the data we need.

So the question is can we automatically search the failed emails and create a list of the email addresses.
