Toshiba Satellite L505-110 recovery.

Question: Toshiba Satellite L505-110 recovery.

I have disk with 32 bit system recovery but my x64 partition got deleted.

I cant order recovery x64 becouse my laptop is too old and they dont have this in offer.

Maybe Toshiba Support have my version of system/ or drivers alone in archive and they can send me it ?
I would be happy with drivers alone for x64 becouse there are just few of them on website.

Preferred Solution: Toshiba Satellite L505-110 recovery.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:I have toshiba satellite L505 laptop. It is 8 years old.

If the system is running and the LCD is showing progress when you light it up then the monitor or its contact to the cable or cable itself is bad and your back light (LED) is quitting on you. You can try the almost closing the laptop to see if it lights up again which would indicate a bad cable at the hinge. You can open the laptop (or get service) to see if the ribbon cable is properly seated at the motherboard and behind the monitor. If neither then the monitor may be bad.You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Swapped motherboard in this laptop because the old one had died. After plugging everything in and double checking all of my connections, here are the symptoms I am having now:

When the machine boots to windows I have no keyboard or touch pad. I have keyboard function at post long enough for me to hit f2 and get to the CMOS settings, after that I lose keyboard, except for using the function key and f4 to change monitors,

On boot up I can turn number lock on and then nothing again. I have tried resetting the CMOS, o have tried pulling all the cards like wireless and modem, tried different sticks of ram and even pulling the hard drive. If you have any thoughts or have seen this before please clue me in,

Thanks,

Eddie

Answer:Toshiba Satellite L505-ES5018 Drivers Needed !!

yes... the problem is probably related to the fact that the computer is built for use with windows 7.. perhaps find out what components you have installed and check with the manufacturer of those parts individually... or upgrade to win7... best of luck

Hello,

I have a Toshiba Satellite L505, using Windows 7 Home Premium. I have created a "Recovery Disk" using Toshiba Recovery Media Creator, saved into a USB pendrive.

My hard drive is split into 2 partitions (using Disk Management, in Computer Management), the main one, C: contains the OS and all my installed software, and the secondary, D:, all my data.

I would like to reinstall Windows 7 using the recovery pendrive, but my question is: will that erase the main partition, C: only, or it will delete everything in D: as well?

Thank you very much!

Answer:Satellite L505: would recovery erase all my partitions?

> will that erase the main partition, C: only, or it will delete everything in D: as well?

The Toshiba Recovery Disk would format the whole HDD and would also erase all the partitions which are created on the HDD?
Therefore you should backup the data on an external medium (USB HDD, disk, USB flash memory, etc?) before running the recovery procedure?

Hi,

I have a Satellite L505 with pre-installed Windows 7 64bit. I have created a recovery DVD (2 discs) with Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator after the first use.
I want to restore the factory settings now, but I cannot recover my L505 neither with HDD recovery nor Recovery discs. The problem is following:
(I tried first with HDD recovery, didn't work - I've same problem with recovery DVD)

1. Boot with Recovery Disc 1
2. It starts the recovery process
3. The process creates partitions and copies images (Disk 1 and 2). After it's done it ask reboot the system.
4. After the reboot I see on the screen: "Preparing for first use..."
5. After 1 Minute I see "Please wait... finishing the installation" message.
6. After 5-6 Minutes the laptop reboots automatically (without any error)
7. Step 4-6 is repeatd infinitely; and I cannot use the lapotop

It seems the installer cannot finish the installation. It was the same issue with HDD recovery too, I thought the recovery disc will help... didn't.
After many attempt I tried to delete all partitons on HDD, but did't solve my problem.

Any suggestion?
Thank you in advance!

Answer:Satellite L505 - Recovery installer can't finish

Hi kwarc,

I have a similar notebook ? Satellite L500. I got the notebook with preinstalled Windows 7 too but I don?t have any issues to recover it. Both works ? HDD recovery and the Toshiba recovery disk that I have created.

I think it?s really hard to say what the reason is, maybe a problem with the recovery image or hardware. Can you try to install Windows using a Microsoft disk, please?
Does this work?

In worst case you need help from an authorized service provider. The technicians can check your notebook. :)

Hi guys,

I have a Toshiba Satelite L505-141 (Ser: 3A027302K) but unfortunately it had an issue and my hard disk broke.
I change the hard disk and after that I realized that I have my recovery disc as well.

I found that I can order the disc from here (https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/) but this site is to ship it within Europe and at the moment I'm living in Australia. In the billing details I can't choose Australia.

So, my question is if it's possible that I can download an image (by purchasing of course)?
If not how I can set up a delivery address in Australia?

Thanks in advance

Now, to my knowledge it?s not possible to download the recovery image

I think the delivery to other regions than Europe isn?t possible and I think the recovery disk for European notebook models cannot be ordered outside the Europe.

Hello,

I have a Toshiba L505-110 laptop, Windows 7 64 bit Turkish and it began to slow down recently so I want to recover windows 7 but in some Turkish forums, guys who tried recovering like that, faced a problem.

The problem is that Windows 7 was set up on computer as 32 bit.
I wasn't given a dvd of operation system of W?ndows 7 64 bit and it was told that we could easily make our own recovery dvds with the help of toshiba recovery media creator.

I prepared 2 recovery dvds but now I am afraid that I will have Windows 7 32 bit if I recover Windows.
I bought this computer because it had 64 bit windows and I paid its price so I want to go on with it again..
It has been a year since I bought my PC.

What should I do to be able to recover my operation system as Windows 7 64 bit again?

Thank you for your answers.

Answer:Satellite L505-110 recovery problem of Win 7 64bit

Hi

The OS which was preinstalled is WIN7 64BIT HOME PREMIUM & additionally you should got the 32BIT DVD
So if you create the Recovery disk then the disk should contains Win 7 64bit.

I think you should simply recover the notebook using the created Recovery disk and I think the 64bit Win 7 should be installed.

Hello,

I bought my computer last year around March. The operation system I got with the laptop was Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Lately I'm thinking of format my laptop by using the Recovery CD that I receviced with the laptop. I dont know why but the recovery CD has Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit! Why its 32bit and not 64bit?

The laptop comes with 6GB Ram and Core i5 and I wont benefit my laptop with 32bit Operation System. Is this normal? I was suppose to get the 32bit operation system (really wired if u guys make a laptop with 6gb memory)! This really makes me feel angry. I feel like I was tricked.

If ts the company that I bought the laptop from and not Toshiba's fault I demand and investigation or something like that since they really make a bad name for u guys.

Please answer me as soon as possible.

tnx,
Andrei Braunstein.

Answer:Satellite L505-141 - Recovery disk contains Windows 7 32bit

Hello

Before you wrote such stuff that is not correct please check the specifications on Toshiba website first and have a look in your *user manual* !

The notebook was delivered with a recovery disk that is Windows 7 32bit so everything is ok with this disk and you got the correct one.

The interesting point is that the recovery disk for Windows 7 64bit you have to create yourself as mentioned in *user manual* ! You can create this disk using preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator. You need some blank DVDs to create the disks and that?s all. After doing this you can restore the preinstalled Windows 7 64bit everytime when you want.

Now it?s too late for doing this but you can order a recovery disk here:
https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

I can understand you that it would be better using 64bit Windows on a notebook with 6GB RAM but don?t forget some older applications don?t run on 64bit and require 32bit. Furthermore I?m wondering that you don?t saw a message that reminds you to create the recovery disk. This message you get after the first start of your computer:
+Important INFORMATION+

+your system is equipped with hard disk recovery system. if you need to repair+
+your computer by restoring it to original factory state, you can do it directly+
+from harddisk (press F8 when you boot your computer, choose "Repair your computer"+

Hello, I have a question.

I bought a Satellite L505-10k a month ago. It came with Windows 7 x64, 3 partitions (I don't know why, 3? seriously?). I tried to install Linux erasing the last partition , known as "Data" and I screwed it completely. I used the recovery DVD to bring back the laptop to the default settings and I found out the system that comes to do the recovery is Windows 7 x32.

Any idea why the systems are diferent?

It's just a minor issue I guess, The only thing wrong is that the x32 system does not recognize the 4GB RAM. I'm using only 3 GB RAM now.

Answer:Satellite L505-10K - Recovery disk contains only Windows 7 32bit

Hi Cabo_Nobbdy,

I think you should check your user manual and the specificaitions of your notebook firstly before you start a question. I have founded the following information:
+Operating system: Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (pre-installed, Toshiba-HDD recovery) and Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit (Toshiba-Recovery DVD)+

That means the recovery disk for Windows 7 64bit you had to create by *yourself*!!!
The recovery DVD that was delivered with your notebook contains only 32bit Windows 7 and normally you can create the recovery disk using ?Toshiba recovery disk creator?. I don?t understand why you didn?t do this because after the first start you get this message:
+Important INFORMATION+

+your system is equipped with hard disk recovery system. if you need to repair+
+your computer by restoring it to original factory state, you can do it directly+
+from harddisk (press F8 when you boot your computer, choose "Repair your computer"+
+and follow the menue instructions) or create a bootable Recovery Disc Medium for this purpose.+

+Toshiba recommends you to create Recovery Disc Medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator" to ensure+
+hat you are able to restore your computer to the original factory installed state, even if your computer+
+gets seriously damaged+

But now it?s too late for this and you have to order a new recovery disk from Toshiba yourself:

Toshiba Satellite L505-10k

Can't make any recovery disc when I open toshiba recovery media creator, it says: an unexpected error occurred. Close the program and then restart it (error code: 0D00F6-49-00000015) and then I click ok and then it comes again and then I click ok and it comes again and I click ok and then the program comes and when I create the disc it comes to the verification, but then it says: Unable to read the following file. E: \ Boot \ fonts \ chs_boot.ttf (error code: 02015-20-00000000).

I really do need help, I'm afraid something will happen to my computer, so is there anyone who knows something about this kind of problem?

Thankful for your help.

Answer:Satellite L505-10K - Unexpected error when using recovery disk creator

Hi putte32,

To be honest I never received this error message before but it sounds like that the recovery disk creator doesn?t work properly... You should try a HDD recovery to restore factory settings. Maybe then you are able to create the recovery disk.

Otherwise I would contact an authorized service provider. If you can?t create the recovery disk, the guys should be able to help you to finish this procedure.

Hello,

I have a Toshiba Satellite L505-S5990 and I had to do a system restore. I ordered the recovery disks from Toshiba and put disk number one in. This took me to the Toshiba recovery wizard I used the option to completly format the hard drive wiping all partitions so-on and so-fourth. I put in disk 2 when prompted and clicked next. All was going well untill the end when I received an error code F3-F200-0002 at which time the only option was to click next and then the system would shut down. I then tryed the restore again this time useing the restore factory defaults options on the restore disk. I put in disk 2 when prompted and hit next. I then received the error again at the end of the restore.

What can I do now?

Answer:Satellite L505-S5990 - Recovery Disk Error F3-F200-0002

Hi DustinB22,

I had a similar issue last month that the recovery disk didn?t work properly. First I thought the disks are not ok (scratched) but then I used a Microsoft Windows disk to format the HDD firstly. After this I tried the Toshiba recovery disk again and this worked now!!!
So you should try this too. As I wrote you can use a Microsoft disk to format the HDD or another tool. Maybe it works?

If not you can also install Windows from this Microsoft disk.
Check this!!!

Hello
I was wondering if someone can recommend to me how I repair the Lan connection in my Toshiba L505 Laptop. Windows kept shutting down suddenly and my laptop was feeling warmer than usual, so i thought the fan needs to be cleaned. I went in and I was able to remove the keyboard and lifted the area underneath the keyboard high enough to use an air spray to clean the fan. It seemed to work. but when I turned on the machine, i noticed there was no internet connection. I went into the device manager and there were yellow highlights on all the items related to the Lan and wiredless connections. I had the laptop confiqured wirelessly. the machine could not detect any wireless connections. I also connected the laptop directly with a wired connection and it did not work either. I obviously disconnect something or permantely damaged it.

I was looking for a service manual for the laptop but couldnt not find one online. Does anyone know where I can find something that visually shows me where the connections are and what they look like. I can try to reconnect this way.
Many thanks

I have this laptop with 3 Partitions
The main partition got corrupted and apparently wiped so all windows folders have been deleted and a low level format carried out
I still have the recovery sector
Just wondering how to reinstall it back onto the main partition
I tried F8 and it took me to a screen to choose language but after that it said "You must log in to access system recovery options"
I guess user data has been wiped from the main partition ?
Are there any other keys to press on startup to access the Recovery partition ?
Thanks

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Recovery

Look at the boot screen when you start the computer up - that's the one with the Toshiba logo all over it - and you should see commands like 'Press 'Del' for BIOS' and 'Press 'F8' for boot choices'. There will be one for 'Recovery' if you have a recovery partition. It is sometimes 'F2' but by no means always.

Press whichever is the specified key while the boot screen is showing and the recovery system should start, and once you have made one or two choices via dialogue boxes it will just run until it is completed.

TWO POINTS. The first is that this process will wipe all your own data and applications off the system. I would suggest that you take the hard drive out and slave it to another computer - you may need to use some sort of 'caddy' but they are widely available - to try and save what you can of your own data.

The second is that this process will restore your computer to the condition it was in when it was built !  This means you will have to uninstall any manufacturer installed software that you don't want, and that you will have to re-install all your own appications, and you will have all the updates to do since it was built !

The important bit here, if you decide to go down this route, is to try and back-up your own data - documents, photos, whatever - this is the valuable stuff. You say a 'low-level format has been carried out'. This may mean that your data is already gone, but see if you can still save any of it.

Good luck,

Toshiba satalite l505 freezes up on factory restore?
I'm trying to do a factory restore on my friends laptop. The internal hd restore would freeze up during the 3rd or 4th configuration system screen. So I ordered some disks and did a format on the hard drive and did another factory restore with the disks. It still freezes up at the same spot. Even after leaving it all night while I sleep.

Ever time (tons of times both with the internal restore and disks) it freezes up at the same spot. When you restart the pc it goes into the login screen and only shows admin available with no usable password and can't get into it saying that the user isn't set up or the sort. Forgot exactly what it said.

I thought it might be the hard drive so ordered a new one. Still freezes at the same spot.

Please if you know how to fix this tell me. I called customer support and all they want to do is order another disk. But I doubt the new disk they sent me and the internal hard drive would both freeze at the same place if it was the disk.

I've also tried searching the net and so far no solutions. just more people complaining about it doing it to them also. I know there's gotta be a solution somewhere.

Answer:Toshiba satalite l505 freezes up on factory restore?

What is the reason for the restore? The original problem is often the same reason restoring won't work. You may well have a hardware problem.

Are you sure the disks you are using are for that exact model of machine?

Are there any known or past problems with the optical drive that could make reading the disks a problem?

Is memory OK?

How did you "format" the drive? Formatting a drive before installation has not been needed in Windows since 2000. Most formatting tools would create incorrect partition or file system types (formatting is technically only for file systems, but some tools also partition). It wouldn't be a bad idea to delete the partitions and install to an empty drive.

Hello everyone,

I bought a used Lap top off of a former classmate of mine and after using it for about 6 months, I decided to do a complete factory restore on it to clean it up. I do not have any recovery disks so I need to do the factory restore using the HDD.

for some reason I can not run the factory restore. I follow the correct steps (FAQ :: How do I run a System Recovery? :: Support :: Toshiba :: Computers, Laptops/Notebooks, Tablets, Televisions, DVD and Blu-Ray Players, Camcorders, Storage, Accessories, and more) but it will not go into the restore mode. It just beeps and starts windows 7. Is my recovery driver corrupt? How can I repair it?

I have a Toshiba Satillite and it is running Windows 7. I think it might have originally been running Windows XP and the previous owner upgraded to Windows 7. I've lost contact with the guy I bought the lap-top from.

See attached for a screen shot of my drivers.

I hope someone can help me out!!

Thanks,

Ro82

Answer:How do I repair my recovery HDD on my Toshiba Satellite

If he upgraded to win7 - the recovery partition would contain XP.

The upgrade proces would likely cause problems with accesing it.

If you need a win7 install disc, you can get the .iso files from links at my digital life.

Just google:

win 7 sp1 iso my digital life

You would need the windows 7 product key. get it from your existing installation , before you reinstall.

You can find that with any number of programs - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html

Hi all,

I bought quite old laptop from my friend Satellite A100 Pro and he lost windows XP Pro CD,
I have product key.

Can i get from somewhere Windows xp pro eng cd and install it on my laptop with my cd key?

thanks for ur help

Answer:Satellite Pro A100 - No Recovery CD - Can I use the Toshiba key?

Hi

The serial key which you have found at the bottom of the unit belongs to the preinstalled Toshiba Windows OS and it?s a OEM key which will NOT work with other Windows XP disks.

This mean that if you want to install the Windows XP on this notebook then you have to purchase the Toshiba Recovery disk again from the ASP in your country or you will take a original Microsoft Win XP disk and will use this disk and the key which belongs to this Win XP OS.

You?ve got these two options.

How d I do a Destructive Recovery on a Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5928. I have no discs, but I would like to reset to factory new.

Answer:Destructive Recovery Toshiba Satellite

Your computer may have a recovery partition on the hard drive. Try holding down the 0 (zero) key while powering up the computer from a totally off state. If the computer has such a partition, you will get a Toshiba Recovery Wizard screen. One of the options will be to restore the factory software. Selecting that should then change the screen to give you the option to restore to "out-of-the-box" state.

Click the "User Guide" tab on this page for the computer's on-line user manual that includes information on recovery options.

I have a Toshiba Satellite P205D that runs on Windows Vista. I was having a few occasional problems with my CD/DVD drive, my updates wouldn't install, and many of my programs were seemingly corrupted as well. I tried to do a system recovery to the factory settings, and now I'm getting a message on start-up that my bootmgr is missing . None of my F keys are working, except F2 and F12. I have made several attempts at recovery since with two brand new sets of recovery disks. I have gotten the following error messages: 0x8007045D Boot: WIM; Boot .SDI; Preinst.crc and Preinst. SWM. I tried changing my boot order, and received an F3-F000-0008 message. I am desperate for help and would greatly appreciate any suggestions

Hi, my laptop has a 250GB hard drive which is split Windows (C) 116GB and Data(D) 116GB. The Data contains the Toshiba HDD Recovery Software(7GB).

My C drive is nearly full, is there anyway I can either reduce the size of the D partition or remove it totally.

My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

Thanks for your help.

Not sure if I'm in the correct forum?  I tried to redo my Satellite P300 with the recovery discs I burnt when I bought the laptop.  No recovery partition on this model. The discs indicated an error right at the very end, and of course by that time the "C" drive was wiped.  Outside of buying recovery discs from Toshiba, if they're still available, does anyone have any ideas?  Thanks for any help you can provide.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Recovery Disc

I would try running the recovery discs again, this may have been a 'blip' and may not repeat. Make sure the discs are clean.

Failing that, what OS did you have on this laptop - XP, Vista, Win 7 ?  If you have a Windows validation code on a sticker on the bottom, and can lay your hands on an install disc for your OS, you can re-install Windows that way. The only problem you are likely to have is sourcing the drivers for the graphics, sound, wi-fi, etc. and the best place to go for them is the Toshiba web-site. If you google 'Toshiba satellite P300 drivers' you will find a number of links.

If all else fails, you can always try Toshiba for recovery discs. I have a set for a Satellite of slightly older vintage and I must admit I have never checked them for integrity !

Thanks

I have problem with Vista - it became too slow so I want to recover to factory settings.

I went through the process described on [http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm] and then instead of "Toshiba HDD recovery" as a last option - i have "Restore the complete Windows operating system" which is the last after "comand prompt". When I click on that I get another box with warning telling me "when you reinstall windows OS the hard drive will reformat and all data will be lost" and "if preinstalled files are damaged you can use the product recovery disc(which I didn't get)" and there is no next or any button except OK which I click and it just takes me back to the "Systems Recovery Option" list...

I also don't have Toshiba recovery disk creator - it was not preinstalled when I bought computer - although I had all other toshiba software.

And I know that I can buy recovery disk, but I don't feel like paying 30 bucks for something I already should got with computer - and my computer is still under warranty.

Toshiba Satellite L650-12Q
Windows 7 64bit

I am attempting to re-install Windows using the Toshiba HDD Recovery software on my hard disc in order to restore the computer to factory settings.
I followed the procedure to do this in System Recovery Options, but received the following message:

"The recovery of the operating system is impossible!
Could not find HDD Recovery folder on second drive of the first hard disk. There is no valid HDD Recovery environment on this computer."

Further details:
Prior to doing the above, I backed up the system and files and folders using AOMEI Backupper. I then made the mistake of merging partitions C: D: and E:, E: contained the HDDR files.

After trying the above recovery and receiving the message above, I re-installed the system file I had backed up to an external hard disc, which resulted in a copy of C: drive and E: drive containing the HDDR files.
Unfortunately, when I tried to recover the OS, the same message appeared.

I then tried to use a System Restore disc I had created a few weeks ago, but found that for some reason that CD is blank.

The good news is that the computer still works - slowly - and the HDDR files appear to be still there but, for some reason, inaccessible.

What are my options? I want to go back to initial factory settings so that I can start afresh and re-install the programmes and files that I want. (I have backed up all my files and have installation discs for programmes.)

I have a Toshiba Satellite C655D that I am trying to do a factory recovery on. I have found how to supposedly access the recovery but it does not work. You are suppose to power off the laptop and hold down the zero (0) key and then press the power button...but it does not work. I can boot up with a Windows disc, BartPE, Hiren...etc. and I can see the 12 GB recovery partition, but can't get to it.

This is a Satellitte C665D-S5332 laptop and some of the instructions are for models close to this. Does anyone know how to bring up the factory recovery menu beside using the Zero key thing? Or does anyone know what kind of image backup Toshiba uses to make the image? i.e. Acronis, Norton...etc. Maybe I can use the actual program to restore with.

Help?

Answer:Can't Access Toshiba Satellite Factory Recovery

5) Select Recovery of Factory Default Software; click Next.

My laptop is Satellite C55-A-1K6

In the past, i have deleted Toshiba System Recovery Partition by mistake when i install new OS to my laptop then i sent my laptop to Toshiba Service and they recrate standard partitions and send my laptop to me back.

I need to ask that question to you now;

When i open Disk Management in Computer Administration i see two partition that named Recovery. One of them is at the begining of the disk and it is 1 GB, other one is 11 GB and at the and of the disk. Which one is for Toshiba System Recovery?

On the other hand i have just created 3*4,5 GB Toshiba System Recovery DVD via Toshiba Recovery Media Creator . Instead of i have those dvds am i still need Recovery Partition to Recovery my laptop in the future?

Now, if i delete all partitions on the hdd now, can i still use Toshiba Recovery with these 3*4,5 GB DVD?

Thanks...

Answer:Satellite C55-A-1K6 - Which Partition is Important for Toshiba Recovery?

Original recovery image contains operating system, all necessary drivers, Toshiba specific tools and utilities, and of course some additional software so it cannot be 1GB only. 11GB partition is for recovery image.

> On the other hand i have just created 3*4,5 GB Toshiba System Recovery DVD via Toshiba >Recovery Media Creator . Instead of i have those dvds am i still need Recovery Partition to Recovery >my laptop in the future?
Generally speaking you don't need it anymore. Using your created recovery DVD you will be able to install original recovery image anytime you want. In case that HDD will be effective and exchanged with new one you can use these discs to install original recovery image.

Many people don't read user?s manuals and do not create recovery media. After some experiments they are surprised why HDD recovery image installation doesn't work anymore.

I hope some other Toshiba notebook owners will read this so here is original info from Toshiba recovery reminder:

I am wanting to format and reinstall windows back to its factory state as its running really slow. I dont recall on having a recovery cd on buying and was told i just need to push an F key on boot up as recovery files are on hard drive. Is this correct?

Answer:Re: Toshiba Satellite A100-332 Recovery Question

No this is not correct. On this older notebook model Toshiba didn?t offered HDD recovery image. Recovery image is saved on DVD media. When you want to install recovery image using DVD recovery media you can use F button at the startup.

To install HDD recovery (if saved on HDD) there is another way to do this.
So what you can do is to order original recovery media or install operating system using Microsoft installations CD/DVD.

Hello.

This is the situation:

I have Toshiba T130 notebook with no DVD drive. After installing Win7, I shrinked D partition by tool in Win7 and used the free space to install Linux with GRUB. Then I shrinked the C partition also by Win7 tool and used the free space to create another one. This however told me something about dynamic disk or something...

But somehow it broke GRUB so I decided to reinstall Linux. But the partitions were somehow broken but I installed Linux on the last partition. Since then I could not boot Windows nor repair it because D partition was actually deleted!
C partition with Win7 seemed intact.

When trying to repair computer and try to fix boot, I got an error 0x090 or something with partition table error. So therefore I deliberately decided to create new partition table using Gparted which wiped off my HDD. Then I set up new partitions: 3x NTFS, (400 MB recovery, Win7 partition and another one) + extended partition containing NTFS partition + ext4 partition + swap.

Then I copied files from hidden (which I had backed up previously) into hidden partition on the laptop HDD + I copied Toshiba recovery folder into 3rd NTFS partition (I had backed up those files immediately after getting the laptop).

Now, I'm stuck with 0xc000000e error when trying to boot. I also followed this thread: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=53952&tstart=15

Answer:Satellite T130 - Toshiba recovery USB creation

Oh mann what are you doing is amazing. ;)
The whole HDD structure is now screwed up. I?m just asking myself why you have done this on this small Satellite T130.
I mean it is all OK what are you doing and you can do what you want with your machine but my personal opinion is that you have wrong notebook for all this.

Satellite T130 is small ultra portable notebook designed to offer maximum of mobility and offer long battery running time when you are out of office or travelling around. So I think most important thing for such notebook is well installed and configured OS that runs stabile and with minimum of power consumption. This notebook doesn?t have optical disc drive and the whole situation is more complicated if the original ?factory settings? are changed.

What you have now on HDD is nothing but ?jungle? and for me it seems pretty confused.
If you have checked ?User?s manuals? document you can find exact explanation what can be done with recovery image saved on second partition and what kind of recovery media can be created.

Recovery image is not designed for usage with third part applications so it can be problematic to create recovery USB disc.
Thread link you posted is best thread about this theme and if this will not help I really don't know what you can except to order original Toshiba recovery DVD and make clean OS installation to get ?factory settings? again.

Answer:Re: Satellite A300-1MO - Can I use any Toshiba recovery disk?

No, you cannot use any Recovery disk? you have to use the recovery disk designed for this notebook model.
The point is that recovery disk contains a image. Image is a package which contains OS and Toshiba drivers?
If you would use another recovery disk then the image would be installed with not compatible drivers and this could lead to further problems?

Every new Toshiba notebook provides a Toshiba Recovery Disk creator tool. This tool can create a recovery disk?

Hello,

I have a Toshiba Satellite U205-S5002. Yesterday when I attempted to start my laptop I received this error message: windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system

And something about pressing "r" from the recovery disk. Well, I booted from the only disk I received when I purchased the computer and there is no option for repair. The only options available are to return the laptop to "out of box" condition, or to erase the hard drive. In addition, every search I've done on this error message references a recovery console, yet I cannot seem to find one.

I have several very important documents that I did not back up. Also, this happened after I shut the laptop down and put it in my laptop backback (in a nylon zipped pocket) and wonder if it could have overheated? I'm dreading the possibility that my documents cannot be retrieved.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Specifically I need to know if and how I can get to the recovery console (I've tried F8 to no avail).

Please help...

Thanks

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Can't Find Recovery Console

Hi, and welcome to TSF!

You need to borrow a Windows CD because the Toshiba recovery disk does not have the recovery console on it. This will allow you to run the recovery console.

Moved you to Microsoft support/Windows XP

Hi ..

my friend has this laptop: Satellite A300-20P.

I'm not sure what he did, but he installed Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit, then 32-bit again. The whole thing messed up.
Anyway, he didnt make a recovery disk for his laptop (damn thing). Now, becasue I have a Toshiba laptop too I know that there is Recovery on the Harddisk on the D partition (not the windows partition). I tried to use "Repair Windows" booting Windows, when I try to restore the whole PC from a backup media it says " No backup media found", now I'm not sure if the recovery sector still available or not, because the Windows cant boot. So is there away to find the recovery media?

If this mission impossible, then I have Windows Vista Ultimate to install and I can download the drivers from the site? The problem is, how I will make recovery media when install the Windows and the drivers ?

Please this is urgent.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Satellite A300-20P - How to restore from Toshiba recovery?

Hi

To be honest I?m confused at the moment because first you wrote about a problem of your friend?s notebook and you wrote something about your own notebook where you try repair Windows.
So I don?t understand what you mean exactly.

But fact is you have two possibilities to restore factory settings:
1)Use the Toshiba HDD recovery option. You can start it if you go in advanced boot menu (F8) and select ?Repair my computer?. Then follow the screen instructions.
The first partition of the HDD will be wiped and you get factory settings back.
2)Use the Toshiba recovery disk. It?s very similar to HDD recovery option but whole HDD will be wiped (all files will be deleted). After this you have factory settings back, too.

So that?s all what you can do to restore the factory settings. If the HDD recovery option not work and you don?t have a recovery disk you have to order a new one from Toshiba directly.

Alternative you can use a Microsoft disk to install Windows and then download and install all drivers and tools from Toshiba website step by step.

What are the main differences between the L505-144, L555-11K and A500-1GL?

They are the same price and seem to be very similar, with only small differences in processing power, graphics card and sound.

Which is the best model?

Answer:Re: Differences between Satellite L505-144, L555-11K and Satellite A500-1GL

Hi

I think you should take a look on the Toshiba notebook specification page and should compare both notebooks:

*Satellite L505-144*
http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-L505-144/1081190/

*Satellite A500-1GL*
http://de.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-A500-1GL/1080934/toshibaShop/false/

Satellite L505-144 has been released in UK and the Satellite A500-1GL has been released in Germany.

The L505-144 supports faster and better CPU, it has been delivered with Win 7 32bit and 64bit. It supports the nVidia instead of ATI GPU but the HDD is smaller 320Gb instead of 500GB?

Hello folks,

my name is lynn. I have been told on a different forum that my laptop does not have bluetooth on it. So, i went and bought a bluetooth adaptor made by targis. It is a usb device. I have it installed with all drivers. I have a bluetooth iblue 737a+ gps receiver; again, all drivers installed on my laptop for it. For some unknown reason, my computer sees the bluetooth adaptor, but refuses to see the bluetooth GPS receiver. I have had it up at Office depot all morning since i bought the adaptor there, but they could not figure out the problem either. The receiver can be seen when connected via a usb mini cable, but the program i wish to use it with, microsoft streets and trips, requires i use it with bluetooth and not a cable. The adaptor doesn?t see my Windows Mobile phone either. I know the GPS and phone are working properly and fully charged because they see each other and I can use my GPS program on my phone with no problem. . I am out of options and/or ideas. Can anyone suggest anything else i should try? I do have an account on msn and would be happy to voice or video chatg there if someone needs to explain something lengthy to me. Oh, and i am blind so use a screen reader to operate my windows 7 lalptop, but that should not have any bearing on figuring this confounded thign out!! :)

thanks, lynn w.

When i try to make Recovery dvd with TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator the burning fails.

I have Satellite C50-A-19T with TSSTcorpCDDVDW_SU-208DB_T cd/dvd-rw unit.

During burning process i get an error that say that is impossible read the file D:\ZZImages\ZZImages\install29.swm (the .swm file in error change with different attempts).

I marked the option to verify dvd after burning.

I tried a few times: i try make a single dvd (requires 3 dvd for complete recovery).
i try 2 times with verbatim dvd+r the fist try failed, the second succeeded with the same kind of support.
i try make dvd numb. 2. for two time with dvd-r and dvd +r support and it failed again.

On windows error report i find this error:

and this alert:

+ODD Firmware Update to fix problems with the Toshiba Recovery CD creator+

I see this solution by upgrading firmware for different models of cd/dvd-rw units

http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9C02RP0000R01.htm

but not about the model I have.

i have:

TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator version: 3.1.02.55065006
windows 8.1 x64.

there is a solution?
is a known problem?

Answer:Satellite C50-A-19T problem with TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator

If fie that belongs to recovery image cannot be read than there must be problem with recovery image files and not with optical disc drive.
Have you tested optical disc drive functionality on some other way?

Does Toshiba recovery media creator offer option for recovery USB media? If yes, try please to create recovery USB to see if the same problem will happen again.

I recently bought a new Satellite L300D and then promptly proceeded to get it infected with a virus.
I didn't have anything on the computer yet that I couldn't afford to lose, so rather than try and fix it I decided to recover the system to factory state.

I started the HDD recovery wizard and I think I interrupted it at the beginning of the process (because I needed to move the laptop and wouldn't be able to leave it plugged in to finish).

When I tried to start the process again I get an error shortly after beginning. The wizard starts by preparing partitions, and then gives me an error:
ERROR: F3-FF00-0020
An error has occured.
Please press OK to turn off the computer.

What's happening here? What are my options?

Thanks.

Hello,

my experience with computing is very limited, so I will be using very simple language and maybe some stupid words.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L300. I want to reboot it because of some research and some discussions that have been made through it.
I know that even if I delete them in my history they still remain in the hard disk, HHD.
So I wanted to reboot my pc, I have contacted computing guy who sold me the pc and he said that I can use a recovery disk to get back my original windows but does it mean that this disk will also install the old memory?

In short I was to boot my pc to get rid of all the images, msn discussions, google search being made from my pc.
Its History, the ones that are still keept in the pc but I can't get access to.
I haven't created my recovery disk yet but will it include my old files and history? or just windows and the drivers?

Answer:Satellite L300 - Toshiba Recovery Disck, what does it memorize?

Hi,

As I understand you want to format (you call it ,, reboot) your hard disk to remove all the information such as history, files that nobody can read it.
Please, remember if you even format your hard disk, it's still possible to recovery all the data from your hard disk.
As I know, there is a good software called Tech Erase, it can securely destroy all the data on your hard disk and almost impossible to recover it (depending what algorithm use choose). But I don't understand why you need it. Do you have something special?
About talking recovery disk, you can make a new installation but the information from old one can be recovered by the special utilities.

i bought my lap last april and after the crash of the system.
I used the recovery disc that i made from the image on the hard disc but it erased all the data in the two partitions.

My question: Is there a way to use the disc to format partition C only without erasing the data on the other partition?

Answer:Toshiba recovery disc usage for Satellite A300-211

Hi

No. the recovery disk will format the whole HDD and will erase everything from the HDD and partition.
The usage of the HDD recovery procedure will format only the C and will leave the data on the data partition.

Hi!

My sister has a Toshiba Satellite M100-164 (PSMA0E) which she's been using for 2-3 years.

I've formatted it. Last year to install Windows Vista. But, unfortunately, I've also deleted the hidden partition for this upgrade. Plus, as you might guess as well, I've not created the recovery media, prior to my formatting. She started saying she's not happy with the system and requested me to convert it back to its previous state.

In the forum I saw that the user {color:#ff0000}*["locojava" asked a question about a driver he was searching for his PSMA0E|http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=199573#199573]*{color}. I wanted to reply the thread but it was locked.

So, I'd appreciate, if "locojava" or any M100-164 users who have the recovery media would contact me to find a solution. I want to make a clean install to make her happy with the factory-settings laptop. I also can buy the duped cd(s) so that the problem be solved.

Thanks.

I've been trying to recover Satellite C670D-11K using new Toshiba-supplied factory system recovery discs. Both discs do their thing until the very end when I get these messages:

Error c/program files\mcafee\virusscan/dat\000.0\avvscan.dot (error=1117)
Error restoring image
request could not be performed beacuse of I/O device error
Error Image x could not apply win 7 V:\\HDDRecovery\SWIMG\15434XSP.SWM Index 2 from HDD to C

Only option after this point is to press any key and I get the blank Toshiba screen

When I switch laptop back on I get message 'boot mgr is missing'. I have tried the recovery disc a couple of times since and things don't get any better. In fact I just get a big black screen with cursor after

Suggestions welcomed please? I thought buying the recovery discs would be a simple solution but should I give in and go to a professional now?

Thanks, Paul

Answer:Satellite C670D-11K - Toshiba recovery discs is not working

I presume you use recovery discs that you have created using Toshiba recovery disc creator tool, right?
It sounds stupid now but something went wrong and I?m afraid recovery discs are useless now. Fact is that you cannot change anything or force notebook to install recovery image properly.

Only thing that you can test is - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD4103KB0000R01.htm
I don't think this will help but you can test it anyway.

Now you have two options:
-to order original recovery disc from Toshiba
-to install own OS version using Microsoft installation disc

Answer:Cannot install Toshiba Recovery image on my Satellite notebook

You can install original recovery image and set notebook to ?factory settings? using two possible options:
-to use HDD recovery installation (F8 at start-up and ?repair my computer? option)
-to use recovery DVD

If I understand you right you have installed own OS in hope to use your notebook but on this way you have ?deleted? this repair my computer option so you will not be able to start installation from HDD. Your only option is usage of recovery DVD.

Now the million dollar question: have you created recovery DVD following Toshiba advice to do this?

Hi there,

I have a Toshiba Satellite L655 with Windows Home Premium 64bit. I have recently got into problems with my operating system. Unfortunately I did not know about HDD recovery option, so I just reinstalled OS with Windows 7 installation CD (i've got one).

Now I'm aware about HDD Recovery and I'd like to get my system back to it's original "Toshiba's" state, but there's no "Toshiba HDD recovery " item anymore in recovery menu (F8 on startup)

I still have HDDRecovery folder on my D:\ disk with 7.5 Gb od data. But how can I get it back? What do I need to install to have the "Toshiba recovery" item back again in recovery environment?

Thanks,
Ivan

Answer:Satellite L655 - Get the Toshiba recovery option back

Hi buddy,

The Toshiba HDD recovery feature is only available on preinstalled operating system. If you have installed another version it?s not available anymore.

So in your case you would need the Toshiba recovery disk to restore the original factory settings. Did you create the Toshiba recovery disk before installing Windows 7?
Usually this can be done with out of box settings because ?Toshiba recovery media creator? is preinstalled. That means you need some blank disks to create the recovery disk.

If you don?t have the recovery disk you can order a new one here:

Hello everyone,

My question is about the Recovery Media Creator procces.
I was about to create the recovery and I noticed there are several options (DVD 4.7 Go, DVD 8.5 GB and USB Flash).

My Toshiba Satellite L855-12X is with a Blu-ray Disc Drive burner and would like to use a BD-RE I bought for backups.

Does anyone have a solution to use this media ?

Answer:Satellite L855-12X: How to use BD-RE with TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator

I have the same optical disc drive in my Satellite but no option to use empty BD for recovery media creation. I presume preinstalled Toshiba software cannot handle with it.
Best thing you can do is to create USB recovery media.

To be honest I?ve created two back-ups (DVDs and USB). I can always use one of them if necessary.

I also need to restore my P200 with the Toshiba CD. There is a note on the pocket : insert CD, power off, power on with F12 press, select reader and follow explanations. I wonder if it is possible to reformat only the 2nd disc.

Answer:I need to restore Satellite P200 with the Toshiba Recovery disk

Using original Toshiba recovery CD/DVD you can install clean operating system and have ?factory settings again. Before recovery procedure starts the whole HDD will be deleted and formatted.
With other words ? you will lose all your data.

If the notebook is delivered with 2 HDDs the recovery DVD can be used with HDD1 only.

Hello, I am a new user and found this website to ask for help. Here is my problem.

My brother's Toshiba Satellite A105 caught a virus. He uses Windows XP SP3. The system starts up fine but when I get to the desktop, it loads horribly slow due to the virus. CPU usage remains at 100%. So I turn it off and back on while pressing F12. I have the option of booting from cd, hdd, fdd, and I forgot the other one. I do have a recovery disk I put in. So I highlight the cd option so it boots from the CD. It begins saying "Loading RAMDISK image" then loads another thing then just starts back up as normal into the desktop once again. Second try, I go into BIOS and change it so it boots only from the CD when it starts up. And again I get "Loading Ramdisk image" and the other thing that loads. I forgot what it said. when it's both done loading, it starts back up all over with "loading ramdisk image". It just endlessly loops. Getting no where.

I also tried going into safe mode for a system restore to a certain point. Mind you, the system restore window took about 1 hour to pop up. The laptop is [I]that[I] slow. I left it for about 4 hours to do its system restore to a previous date and it didn't fix anything at all.

Another try, I waited for the whole system to load. I put in the CD and waited for the Toshiba System Recovery to pop. (Took about another hour for it to pop up) With patience, it popped up and I pressed "Preform a system recovery"... Read more

Answer:Toshiba Satellite System Recovery Boot Loop

Hi troubled.user,

Try going to safe mode again and see if you are able to get internet access while in safe mode. Assuming you do, try downloading two programs called "HitmanPRO" and "Malwarebytes". Install them both and then first run HitmanPRO then Malwarebytes. Let both programs run and detect any viruses/spywares on your computer and delete them. Hopefully this helps you out.

Hi,

I'm having trouble fixing a Satellite C50-A Laptop, which was running Windows 8.1.

The main issue is a 'no bootable disk' error message.

The secondary issue, which is stopping me solving the first issue, is difficulty using the Toshiba USB recovery disk.

Any suggestions or advice on either of these problems would be much appreciated.

Troubleshooting this PC so far........................

The laptop has only had 13 months of light use.

I have no idea what caused the initial issue, but it's now giving a 'no bootable disk' error message.

( I'm not at all clear on how these recovery partitions are supposed to work. And I'm not familiar with UEFI / Secure Boot etc. Does this error message mean that the boot partition and the recovery partition both became corrupted simultaneously? Or are there some main boot files which might have become corrupt? )

I used a Linux live CD to access the drive, read-only, and managed to recover data. This would suggest to me that CD, CPU and RAM are all working okay, and the disk is still accessible. I'm not sure if this is a correct assumption.

It looks as if Windows has got itself mangled during some quick hibernate process, but I'm not competent enough to troubleshot a Toshiba partition / Windows 8.1 corruption issue from Linux.

So I reset the BIOS after using the Linux CD, and purchased a Toshiba USB Recovery stick.

Ideally, I'd like to just repair Windows, if that is all that is broken, and leave everything else as it was. ... Read more

Hello,

on the laptop TOSHIBA C660, replaced the hard drive and, as a fact, the OS flew down (Windows 7 SP1 HB x 64).
Installed not licensed, there was no way out, on the Microsoft website, to download the image, the key from the laptop is not suitable.

Not a licensed image, there was no desire to put, the assembly is an assembly, naturally installed such an operating system behaved badly, buggy.

Done, and now the laptop does not work.
In the service center installation of OS and drivers costs 3500 rbl.

Offensively. So I'm looking for help on the forum.

Please, kindly request help. Thank you.
