Preferred Solution: Pavilion X2 - SDXC compatible?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

SDXC is not listed on the spec sheet so I assume the answer is no, but I figured I would check and see if someone could confirm before I purchase a smaller SDHC card.  I would really like a 64GB card but don't want to shell out and have to return it.

After installing the memory card and copying music over to it my phone comes up either with an error code 80070003 or only plays a 30 second clip of the track. I also have a problem with photos disappearing when stored to the memory card.
I have tried changing everything back to the phone's memory but still have the problem with the music player

First of all your phone is compatible with your SDCard. (but there are "fake" SD cards
Did you format the SDCard in your phone.
Code 8007003 can indicate that you try to copy DRM protected music.

There are three form factors: standard, mini and micro. You need standard sized memory cards. See Wikipedia below. If you use micro SD or mini SD cards you need to use a adapter. Most micro and mini memory cards come with a adapter.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital

I have a Satellite A500-1GH having Windows 7 64bit. I'm about to buy an SD card, and I was wondering if the SD card slot at the front of the laptop is compatible with SDHC cards and the latest SDXC cards. If so, do I need to download some software and/or drivers for these kind of SD cards to work?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

SDHC is definitely compatible.

As for SDXC, I think there is a Win7 WindowsUpdate that supports SDXC.

Nowhere in the documentation, web site is any info about what kind of controller and hence what size SD cards this model is supporting.Even Lenovo tech support doesn't know that info!I am really hesitant to buy a SDXC card of +32GB only to find out it supports on SDHC cards, thus limited to 32GB... thanks for any useful info, Ralf

Answer:What kind of SD card controller is in a Lenovo IdeaPad 120S-11AIP? SDHC or SDXC compatible?

Hi ITWorxLA,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per system overview :
IO port: Memory card slot (SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC)

Platform specification:
One microSD Card slot, supports up to 2TB

Usually there would be stickers on the box or laptop to indicate the format it also supports.
You can try to find/borrow  a spare 32GB SDXC to test first before purchase.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Answer:GTX 750 Ti and HP Pavilion p6-2108p? Are they compatible

Abestbeats, welcome to the forum. The reason people are having problems with the "GTX 750 Ti" model is because it requires UEFI Firmware in the motherboard.  HP didn't begin using full UEFI Firmware until mid-October, 2012.  Your computer was introduced in December, 2011. Depending on the maunufacturer of the video card, they may have a VBIOS update to make your card work with your computer.  I know the EVGA, for example, has updates for specific cards.  You have to contact their Tech Support for help.  Also, you may have to upgrade the power supply unit (PSU) in the computer, if you haven't already done so.  It is 300W. Please click the "Thumbs up + button" if I have helped you and click "Accept as Solution" if your problem is solved.

Hi, I would like to know if my laptop Pavilion dv6 1125 is compatible with windows 7? My current OS is windows vista.Thank you,Omar

Answer:Is hp pavilion dv6 compatible with windows 7?

Absolutely. Anything that will run Vista will run Windows 7. Not remembered much but at the time Windows 7 came out one of its selling points was "unified driver architecture" where Vista drivers are supposed to work in 7, and they usually do. I do recommend a clean install of Windows 7 and not an in-place upgrade. You will have to buy Windows 7 of course.

It's good to be part of this community. I have found a lot if interesting info that has helped me as a self-taught computer guy.
I live in West Virginia and I am 50 years young.
.....The questionis this...... I have a HP 541c Pavillion with AMD Athalon 2000+ 1.67 ghz. I put it in a New Case that is bigger. I am Modding it a little with UV lazers and Cathode tubes and even an extra DVD burner and HD.
The Power supply is ONLY 200 WATTS. I am running out of connections.
Can I change to a Bigger PSU or am I limited to this as being Proprietory to the MOBO?
Please let me know soon....I am going nuts.
And i love this place . It is full of more info than i will ever use. Great Idea.

Answer:Compatible psu for HP 541c Pavilion.

Hello cosmotek and welcome to Techspot.

As far as I`m aware, HP use Proprietary mobo`s and psu`s. Check with the HP website, just to be sure.

You might be better off getting a new atx mobo and generic atx psu. You`ll then be able to upgrade to your hearts content.

I have asked this question last January and never received an answer back on the forum although almost 200 people have also looked at my question probably looking for the same answer. I bought this 2 in 1 laptop/tablet last December and nobody has given me the correct answer as to what stylus IS COMPATIBLE for it. I have called tech support and sales numerous times to try and get help from HP and nobody seems to know the answer, they just give me a guess. I purchase what they have told me in the past and of course it doesn't work. So if there is someone who actually knows what they are talking about and can test out to see what stylus will work for this laptop/tablet before giving me a guess that would be great! I have an HP Pavilion x2 13.3" 2-in-1 laptop, 13-R100DX and would like to know what stylus would work for writing not painting or drawing. I have Windows 10 downloaded on my tablet and would like to know also what apps will the stylus work best on from the Microsoft Store that I can download in order to do so. It would also be nice if there is palm rejection included in the stylus because I do a lot of writing. I don't care if it is an HP product or not or how much it costs but I expect a guarantee that this stylus is going to work. I know I have been told in the past that tech doesn't know about any other stylus outside of HP but I also don't want to be given a serial number to special order a product and if it doesn't work I am going to be told that I... Hello and welcome to the forums, stephen316.

I have serious doubts that that particular PSU of yours would be able to handle the power requirements of the GTX 680.

From what I've read, It is a budget PSU that is not even Gold Certified or able to deliver the proper amperage for a beast of a card like the GTX 680.

680W G7 Power Extreme ATX PSU : PC Power Supplies : Maplin Electronics

Check out this thread from sevenforums, where another user in your situation literally blew his graphics card away when attempting to run his GTX 480 (another high end card from NVIDIA) on that PSU:-

GPU killed my PSU?

Have a look at something like this for a quality PSU capable of driving the GTX 680:-

I have an HP Pavilion(P4 socket 478) that I am working on right now. A friend gave me the fairly scavenged remains of a Dell Dimension 3000 for parts. It also was a socket 478 P4.
Could anybody tell me if the parts are interchangable? The mobo and CPU from the Dell are intact and could be a decent upgrade to my HP if possible.

Answer:Dell Dimension - HP Pavilion compatible?

You could look up specifically the specifications of your HP product (via S/N) by going to THIS thread

Same applies to Dell computers (via Service Tag) on THIS thread

ie There is a maximum CPU limit on processor specifications, but initially it looks interchangeable

I recently acquired the HP Pavilion dv7-4263cl.  The previous owner had put Windows 10 on it but there may have been a driver issue. Answer:Is the XZ288UA Pavilion dv7-4263cl Windows 10 compatible

Hi: Unfortunately, that model is cannot run W10 correctly, and I agree with you that the graphics and audio will not work right. HP does not support any of their notebook or desktop PC made before August of 2013 for W10. Here is their info sheet on that subject. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05195282 Now, many HP PC's built before Aug of 2013 will run W10 OK by using Vista, W7, W8 or 8.1 drivers, but in the models with dual graphics like yours, those graphics drivers won't work. You might be able to get the audio to work by using a W10 IDT audio driver from the 15t-j100 notebook, but there are no guarantees, and really no point, since the graphics not working is a show-stopper.

Hi, I've recently purchased a HP Pavilion p6-2018uk which I've upgraded with extra memory (8GB) and a 500W PSU. I'd like to upgrade to an external Grapihcs Card, but I'm having issues which I think from what I've read is to do with the BIOS. My motherboard is a Foxconn H-CUPERTINO2-H61-uA TX (Cupertino2). Other relevert  specs:Intel Core i3 2120BIOS 7.16 (Latest) - Using Legacy Mode, not the UEFI (Many card these days require BIOS v8) I have two graphics cards, but neither work. The Frist is a new Nvidia Geforce GT 710 (1GB) - Passive Cooled - this will only work if you do the trick of waiting for the BIOS message to appear on screen and wait for the two beeps a minute apart then press the Escape key. This then allows you to boot to windows and install a driver for it. But this is a pain as you have to do this every time you switch on the machine even when the driver is installed. Next up I have a used Nvidia Geforce GTX 550 ti (1GB) - with fan - this allows me to boot to Windows directly, but there is no response on the monitor, no signal. The cards fan turns (I've the extra power lead connected by the way for the card). As this is a used card I can't confirm it works, and I don't have means to test it on another box. I've tried several suggestions, such as disabeling the onboard graphics via Windows, although as I've no power to the monitor I doubt it would work, and in tests it didn't. The BIOS doesn't appear to have any setting... Hello,  Can someone show me where to get  a list of compatible wifi cards for my G6-2288. The current Ralink  RT3290 has been giving me some trouble lately. Thanks for your help.ra

Hi: See the Maintenance and Service Guide on your notebook's support page for the supported wireless cards, chapter 3, page 24. http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-g6-2200-Notebook-PC-series/5296082/model/5317012/man... It looks like you would need to replace the current card with one of the same, because that is the best card offered for that model.  It is the only one offered with bluetooth.

Answer:Compatible graphic card for HP Pavilion Slimline 400-020l

Hi, You need an UEFI enabled, low profile, low wattage graphics card with a full size bracket.  Sometimes graphics cards are shipped with both brackets.  Your PC only has a 270 watt power supply so your pickins will be limited. I have seen some cards that might work but the graphics card manufacturer's all recommend a bigger power supply. A higher wattage Slimline power supply from Athena might work in your PC. You can use GPU-Z to determine the performance (memory bandwidth) as a place to start from when looking for a graphics card.

Question: SDXC T410s

Hello All,I have recently bought a T410s and the SDHC card reader is a lovely addition but with a limit of 32GB.The new SDXC format can go all the way upto 2TB thus it would be very useful for storage expansion as the SD card does not stick out of the machine. Is there anyway now or in the future to replace the current card reader with a SDXC one.I know you can remove the SDHC and are left with an expansion slot but just wondering if anyone has anymore information on this. Thanks

Answer:SDXC T410s

I was wondering about this toppic as too, as I have asked here. Also this guy as well as that guy. Unfortunately, no one seemed to have gotten an answer so far. It would be interesting, as these are all models which should be what was described as the next generation in this article.

Hi, john_es

I would make sure that your BIOS and Media Card Reader drivers are fully up to date, since these can sometimes cause issues with peripherals not working as intended. The BIOS can be found here and the Media Card Reader driver can be found here.

Hope it helps,

I bought 2 64Gb SDXC cards back in September and my PC running Windows 10 PRO recognised these cards and I was able to write to them. I bought another one a few days ago, but the PC will not recognise the card and when I tried the 2 cards I already had again, it wouldn't recognise them either. The PC will read an 8Gb Kingston 133X card and lots of other small cards without problems. My laptop will read these SDXC cards without problems. It is running Windows 10 Home, which is also Version 1709, build 16299.98 & both laptop & PC are running what appears to be the same driver - a generic Microsoft driver dated 21/9/2006 version 10.0.16299.15 Also my digital camera and my Panasonic video camera will recognise the cards. I've tried updating the PC driver, but Windows insists that the driver installed is the best available. The PC has just done a big Windows update but that hasn't cured the problem. I'm baffled - has anybody got any suggestions?I don't really want to roll back to any old version of Windows, especially as I've no idea when the problem started. The card reader is built in to the PC and came bundled with the machine (about 7 years old) and appears to be some generic make as there is no manufacturer's name visible. I've ordered a plug-in card reader to see if that will work, but I'm not hopeful.

Lenovo T510 4313-CTO Recently reinstalled Windows. SD card reader works, but now recognises my 64GB SD card as 32GB (27GB). I have reformatted the card (using another device) as exFAT, FAT32, and NTFS. None of them show correctly. Sometimes when I insert the SD card, Windows instantly says the card needs formatting, but only allows 27.8GB to be formatted. I have reinstalled Windows before, but have always used the official Lenovo recovery discs. This time I used an official Windows 7 Ultamite disc. Once installed I downloaded all the drivers from the Lenovo web site. Everything works perfectly but the SD reader. I am 100% positive the SD card reader at one time recognized my 64GB card. I used it for over a year to transfer files directly onto the 64GB SD card.

I hear they are going be coming out soon.

Yes 1TB or 2TB memory cards!! There is 16GB and 32GB cards now !! But they are very very very very costly .And when SDXC come out only the rich will be able to get it.

Why is memory cards and like flash so costly? I mean I get get 500GB hard drive or 1TB hard-drive alot cheaper !!!

Not to say with cloud computing with your data on the internet is future.

Answer:What do you think of SDXC (up to 2TB SD cards that are as fast as SATA 1 HDD's !!

Unfortunately, trying to predict how a device not yet on the market will actually perform is the geek version of fortune telling.

Using SSDs as an example, the concept of no spinning platters implied better reliability. In reality, most of the first generation SSDs were far more prone to failure than a standard 7200 RPM HDD (I worked in retail at the time; the return/RMA rate on every brand except Intel was off the charts!).

As for the price, I have a few theories: First, manufacturers of any new product attempt to recoup as much of their R&D costs as possible when it first hits the market (think of DVD players, LCD monitors, etc.). Second, it likely costs a lot less to build a standard HDD than a solid state unit - especially when you factor in economies of scale (when you produce millions each year, the manufacturing/labor cost per unit is much less than an item produced in smaller quantities).

Hi and welcome to SF!
Yes, Windows 7 recognizes these formats natively, but I recommend that it be with the SP1 installed. As to whether your card reader will be able to read them, I'd say no - taking into account the age of your Dell. But if you can tell the model of card reader, I could tell with more certainty. Use Speccy - Download in case of not knowing what type of card reader. I look forward for your reply.

Okay, to be precise: Reading speed is absolutely as expected, but the problem is clearly the writing speed. The writing speed is only around 10 MB/sec, as described above.

Thought I'd post this for anyone who's looking at SDXC cards and finding as much confusing information out there as I am.  I recently ordered a 128gb SDXC card to use for video on my Canon T2i camera.  Looked around on the internet and on this site to try to determine if the card would also work with my W510.  Pretty much everything I found online indicated that the card reader on the W510 probably would not work with the exFAT file system required for SDXC.  Even the support site at SanDisk contradicted itself.  In one place it indicated that an SDXC card could be used in an SDHC reader as long as the operating system supported the exFAT system.  Windows 7 supports the exFAT system natively.  Then further down on the page it indicated that SDXC cards could only be used in SDXC devices.  Another site I found indicated that the Ricoh 5-in-1 reader included with the W510 would work with the SDXC card but not with the exFAT file system and therefore might have trouble with any card over 32gb.  Their resolution was to change the file system... which would basically mean the card would no longer truly be SDXC.  So, I didn't find anything conclusive.  I got the card and of course the camera supports SDXC and all works well there.  Decided to try it in the W510 and was very pleasantly surprised to find that it worked.  Clicked on properties it indicates the file system is exFAT and recognizes t... Reinstalled Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller software (v 2.14.18.01), updated BIOS (v.1.38?).can read all SD/SDHC/SDXC cards up through 64GB.Purchased a 128GB for portable storage.  I see the Ricoh appear under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers in Device Manager but no drive shows.  I can view/use the card through USB and portable memory card reader.  128GB SDXC card does work on Acer Aspire S internal reader without issue.128GB Card is a Patriot LX 128GB SDXC Class 10 and UHS-1.64GB Card (works!) is a Sony 64GB SDXC Class 10 and UHS-1 as well. Any way to have the card reader software updated (if necessary) to support 128GB SDXC card?

Answer:T420s doesn't support 128GB SDXC

Double check in Disk Management that the 128GB card is getting a drive letter assigned to it. Sometimes Windows forgets to do it automatically.

Answer:Thinkpad X1 Carbon and SDXC Class 10 SD Card

Hi, deanmitchell

I looked up your machine in the Personal Systems Reference and it should work (page GS1-1). It has a 4-in-1 port that can read SDXC cards. I have never tried it myself, but it should work by all technical aspects.

Best,
Adam

I read the thread on the Yoga 13 being sdxc compatible but want to know if the sdxc card needs to be exFAT formatted or if I can buy a sdxc 128 gb with 400x speed but not exFAT formatted.

Has anyone imstalled a 64GB SDXC card and had any issies with it on the Yoga 13? I installed the card, formatted it to be safe and started using it. All seemed fine until I placed data on it. The card would cause the Yoga13 to do some or all of the following;Bog DownLock upStop seeing the SD card, it would disappear from the installed media listContinuously need to RESCAN the SD card (very slowly - 90 seconds or more), and sometimes lock up in the processKeep the Yoga from shutting down Now, I have NO issues with a 64GD USB drive, super fast loading and never causes any issues. If I remove the SD card, the problems go away. So I know the response is going to be YOU HAVE A BAD SD CARD, which is FINE, as long as I do not buy another $60-$100 card and have the sample problem, only to find out it is a driver issue that needs to be resolved on the Yoga 13. If anyone has a SD card they are happy with and have none of the issues, could you let me know the Make/Model. Also, if anyone has had the same problem and have tried multiple cards, also let me (us) know so that we can try and get the manufacturer to at least tell us a fix or update is on the way! Thanks in advance......D

Does anyone if the X220's card reader will take SDXC cards (larger than 32GB).  Since the SD card sits flush when inserted, there are fairly large cards out there, that could be used for storing stuff that doesnt need fast access like music or movies.

Answer:X220 Card Reader - SDXC compatibility

I?ve also checked user?s manuals for your machine and you are absolutely right. This SDXC card should be recognized properly. The capacity is definitely supported.

You must understand that we cannot say for sure why the card is not recognized properly.
Is card reader installed and listed properly in device manager?

I have a HP Stream 10" laptop with the standard Windows 10 Home image on the built-in eMMC. There is very little scope to shrink the windows partition enough to install linux along side on the same eMMc.  I have therefore purchased a 64GB micro SDXC card, inserted same into the micro SD slot and attempted to install Linux as follows: Distributions were Mageia 5 Live on USB and OpenSuse Tumbleweed on USB CD, using essentially the same approach. The existing UEFI partition was mounted as /boot/efi  in the partitioning setup in each case and nominated as the boot partition. Linux root, swap and home partitions were defined and formatted to ext4 with appropriate mount points on the second SD card. In each case, the relevant installer completed without errors.  However, on reboot, both cases immediately went into 'grub rescue' mode, listing a uuid that could not be found during the boot process. After issuing 'set' then following with ls on every item shown came up with 'Filesystem unknown'. Using the other approach, of booting a Linux live system, mounting installed directories, chroot and attempting to run grub-install ended up with an error message saying something to the effect of  'no corresponding BIOS disk for this device'. So, my first question is whether what I am attempting here can work at all. I know most UEFIs don't support booting from SD cards.  Here, I am attempting to use the relev... Read more

I recently purchased an 64GB SDXC card and formatted it to Fat32. Sometimes it works, but most of the time I am unable to copy files to it. Windows 8 keeps saying problem with drive or something that pops up in top right corner. Anything I can do about this? The SDXC card is Pixtor SanDisk.

Answer:Unable to copy to SDXC 64GB Fat32 Windows 8.1

FAT 32 can not save files larger than 4GB, are you trying some of those maybe ? For those you need to format it to NTFS or xFAT.
