Satellite C70D-A-11E does not boot anymore

Question: Satellite C70D-A-11E does not boot anymore

After a regular shutdown I cannot boot the system anymore.
System starts but does not boot.

Referring to the manual (section 6, solutions of problems) I tried to hit [F12] after power on but nothing happened.
Same when hitting [F2].

My impression is that something failed on hard disk drive.
:-(

P.S. system has Win10 installed.

Preferred Solution: Satellite C70D-A-11E does not boot anymore

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

ODD on my Satellite C70D-A-11E (05.2014) won?t to read DVDs anymore. It doesn't matter which one I try it simply doesn't work.
Latest driver is installed.

Answer:ODD on my Satellite C70D-A-11E wont read DVDs anymore

Hi

If optical disc drive is installed properly maybe is reading lens dirty. Try to clean it up.

Other way, if your ODD can read CDs but not DVDs it can also be hardware malfunction. The reading lens cannot be calibrated properly and cannot find the right position to read DVD media.

In such case ODD must be exchanged.

Try to clean lens up and check if the problem persists. If yes contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.

Hello,
Just bought a Satellite C70D with Win 8.1. Everything works (as far as I know until know), except boot from DVD. I disabled in the bios the Secure Boot and changed the boot order to DVD first, then USB and then HDD. The DVD drive starts, but then it skips to the HDD and Windows is started. First time I tried there was a message like "DVD boot not supported" or something like that.
The DVD is bootable, so that is not the problem.
I would like to install Linux Mint alongside Windows.
Anyone solved this problem already?

Answer:Satellite C70D - How to boot from DVD

Update: changing from UEFI to CMS in the BIOS Advanced tab makes it possible to boot from DVD, but Windows won't boot anymore.... Is there any possibility to boot from DVDE and still be able to start Windows as well?

I'm looking for a new display for my Toshiba Satellite C70D-A-11K!

Please help!

Answer:Need new display for my Satellite C70D-A

Hi

The Satellite C70D-A-11K was equipped with the 17.3" LED color LCD panel with the supporting max resolution of 1600 x 900 px
You should be able to order such display panel from local Toshiba authorized service provider or you could check some 3rd part online dealers who provide compatible notebook parts…

As I mention above: you should look for the 17.3" panels.

Hello everybody,
the Toshiba Sat C70D-B-317 (PSCLEE01L009FR) is on it's way and I don't have it for the moment but I would like to know if there is a way to add some Ram to this machine without opening everything?
Also, is it possible to change the HD in the future in the same conditions?

sorry, but it's my first PC laptop and as a Mac user I'm completely lost with all these models and different serial numbers.

I thank you in advance for your answer.

Thierry

Answer:Satellite C70D-B-317 - Ram upgrade

1. yes you can upgrade your RAM, This laptop has 2 slots with one 4GB standard so if you would you can put one more 4GB. With 2x4 you have Dual-channel and that works much faster than single

I don't know if your HDD can e upgraded. When it's not possible you can always buy a external HDD

I hope i helped you

My wive purchase this computer coupple of months ago. It was from the beginning ferry slow on windows 8
The wurst laptop we ever had. We feel robbed of our money.

2 months ago we started with Ubuntu. It Still slow. IS there anybody with the same problems?

Greetings

Marco

Answer:Satellite C70D-A-108 is very slow

Hi Marco

I don't have this notebook model and cannot confirm what you wrote but fact is that almost all new notebooks are pretty slow at the beginning. Many applications are set to start with Windows and this, of course, slows down boot time.
Windows updates are also set to automatic so in the background the machine will download and install many updates so this will slow down your machine rapidly.

In my opinion you should install original OS that you got with this machine and optimize it a bit.
Remove all useless stuff, change start-up option and disable automatic Windows updates.
In the past I have noticed that original preinstalled antivirus is also responsible for notebook?s performance so I don't use original preinstalled application but my own version of Avir Antivir and it runs perfectly.

Check all these options and I hope your machine will run much better than before.

pci encryptions/decryption controller and unknown device.

Can someone help me out with it?
Thanks

Answer:Need some drivers for my Satellite C70D-B-10U

According notebook specification your machine was delivered with preinstalled Win8.1 64BIT ML.
Original preinstalled version is perfectly configured with all necessary drivers.

The question is: what are you doing with your machine?
Do you try to use some older Windows version?

Good evening,

I'm sorry to disturb,
but I find myself in a situation to which I find no solution,
that's why I come here asking for some help.

A friend has just purchased the following laptop:
- Satellite C70D-B-307

but the worry is that apparently it is impossible to have access to the HDD recovery to execute the factory restoration.
I try all possible solutions that I find on the web and none of it works.

what to do ?

does Toshiba sell the recovery DVDs that will restore the computer to its factory state?

Thank you very much .

I have a C70D-A-107 and want to speed up this notebook. Already placed 4gb extra memory so the notebook has now 8gb internal. I doubt whether it is usefull to put in 2x8gb. I think the processor is just to slow. It has a AMD E1-2100 inside. Is it possible to put in another (faster) processor?

Answer:Speed-up Satellite C70D-A-107

The Satellite C70D-A-107 was equipped with an AMD Essentials E1-2100 Accelerated CPU (1,00 GHz, 1 MB L2 Cache)
It’s not the fastest CPU therefore the notebook performance isn’t the best…

But CPU upgrade isn’t officially supported by notebook manufacturer... therefore I don’t think that you will be able to upgrade the CPU…

I read about successful Intel CPU upgrades but did not meet anyone who was able to perform an upgrade with an AMD CPU

Hello folks,

my Satellite L40 18P won't boot anymore. All I get is the Power LED to go green. The DVD ROM drive blinks and I can open and close it - but that's it. Nothing else happens.

Any idea in the forum what I can do to get the notebook boot again ? Or please ask questions for additional details.

many thanks, Johi 13

Yes Joshi we need additional details.
Can you see anything on the screen?
Have you tried to test it with external monitor?
Since when you have noticed such behaviour?

What was your last activity?

I have a Satellite C70D-A-114...

i hardly used it because it was slow

so i wanted to sell it

first i wanted to set it back to factory settings

doing that, in that process i seem to have deleted all files

so now i get message no bootable disc etc.

Tried everything, there is simply no recovery file

So where can i find such a file for free? It's just not normal that it is not on the site.

Answer:Need recovery files for my Satellite C70D-A-114

All you can find for free are all drivers, tools and utilities. Original recovery image (software package) is not for free and if you need it you must order recovery disc directly by Toshiba.

You can order it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

By the way: in user’s manuals document is clearly described how you can create recovery installation disc. I’m wondering you didn’t make it in the past.

Answer:Can I replace the HDD in my Satellite C70D-B -00P model with an SSD?

Generally speaking yes, you can do this but problem is that your notebook model doesn't have HDD cover at the bottom side.
To have full access to the HDD the bottom cover must be removed completely but it should be done by authorized service only.

Of course you can try to do it alone but I?m afraid you may lose the warranty.
If possible contact nearest Toshiba service provider in your country, explain the situation and ask for help.

I have 2 issues with my new Satellite C70D-B-32U.
When I put it in sleep mode, it does. But after about 5 minutes, it goes automatically to hibernate. This I don't want. And I don't want to disable hibernate, because I do use it when the laptop is not in use for longer periods. The power settings in control panel do not reflect this behaviour. In the settings, I specified that the laptop should never go to hibernate. Hybrid state is disabled.

And secondly, more importantly. Whenever it goes to hibernate, I can only wake it up with the power button. Not with the (internal) keyboard, not with the usb mouse. I would like an option to wake it from hibernate by pressing any key on the keyboard. In bios power on keyboard is set to on. Is there anything else I can change to have this available?
Actually if issue 1 is solved and the laptop stays in sleep mode, this issue is also solved since from sleep I can wake on a mouseclick which is also fine.

The OS is windows 8.1

My girlfriend bought me a new Toshiba laptop C70D-B-10U (my second Toshiba), it is a good laptop apart from the speakers they are terrible. I didn't want my first post to be a complaint but, Toshiba cut corners when it put the speakers in this series of laptops.

Or have I not set them right has anyone else had this problem, any ideas or solutions thank you.

Answer:Bad Speakers on Satellite C70D-B-10UM

I think your notebook has only small stereo speakers and the sound is not the best. I have Satellite S50-B with Harman/kardon speakers and sound is really good.

You can try to change sound options but if you want to have better sound I’m afraid you need external speakers, Maybe BT speakers.

Hi There,

I have had a Satellite C70D for about 18 months now, but have not used it in the past year as I have been disputing with customer services about the windows licence for the machine as I lost it when I formatted the original hard drive before installing an SSD and they wouldnt send me a copy of it. I have now bitten the bullet and bought a windows 10 licence again. However since building the machine a few days ago, I have been having a couple of issues and as it is now out of warranty, I cannot contact customer support (Who I found unhelpful even when it was in warranty!)

The first issue is when I boot up the machine, occasionally the keyboard will not work, I cannot type the BitLocker pin and I have to remove the battery and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, this then fixes the issue for a few reboots before it goes again.

The second is that occasionally it will boot up with a red x next to the WiFi symbol, but it detects the WiFi card, usually a reboot fixes this but not always. I have reseated the card and still no avail.

Can anyone shed any light on what may be causing this? The BIOS is up-to-date as are all of the drivers.

Thanks in advance for your help

Hello,

I picked up a brand new c70d-b-10u today from a well known retailer.
I turned it on, set the language, gave a computer name, hooked up to a wi fi and then it asked for Other User Password!

I never entered a password to start with so why is it asking for one?

I cannot get to the shop again until next week and urgently need to get up and running.

Any ideas greatly received.

Try to recover the notebook once again using the HDD recovery option.

The recovery procedure would reset the notebook back to factory settings… usually after that no passwords should be set…

So I bought this laptop a few months ago.
For the past few weeks the Laptop stopped playing sound.
I watched a stream in Chrome.

So actually I should be able to see the sound playing in the mixer.
But I wasn't able to play any sound or get any deflection in the mixer.

Then I installed Speccy and as this administration window popped up a sound was played and it worked.

I have no idea why the sound stopped working and why it started again.
Is someone able to help me?

I am using Windows 8.1

Answer:Satellite C70D-A-11D - no sound, random

The main thing is that you have sound again. It is not easy to say what was wrong there.
Have you installed some updates or anything else that can be responsible for this sound issue?

Hi all,

My grandmother recently bought this Toshiba, mostly i recommend people a Toshiba but this is going to far.

I wasn't aware that she bought a laptop untill she called me and said she needs help because she never worked with such a slow computer as this Toshiba.

So my question is

How much logic does Toshiba has? I mean putting 6GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM ( ok nice for a casual laptop ) doesn't quite fit with a >>1GHz<< processor. for the rest the specs aren't terrible.

Can somebody explain me why this laptop has a 1GHz processor with 6GB of RAM. this doensn't makes sence at all

Hi All,

I have an Satellite C70D-A-11D ... when I use once the FN Key to do a Print Screen or use the Screen-Zoom on the Space Key...

I am not able to use the Keynumbers 1 to 4 neither the space Key to enter a space between two words...it always change between the bigger screen solution or the normal solution...

I only can change the FN Key again after change the settings in Display settings and after a reboot...
So I cant use FN without a reset with the F1 to F12 Key use and a reboot...

Normaly the FN Key works only if it is pressed...if not the normal Function of the Keys 1 to 4 or F1 to F12 will work if configured in the settings, or not?

What to do?

Kind regards
J?rgen

Answer:Satellite C70D-A-11D Function Key deactivate after use

First of all you can change between the special function key mode (without pressing FN key) or normal (standard) mode (Hold Fn first to use standard F1-F12 functions.)

This function can be changed in BIOS.
In BIOS go to Advanced -> System configuration

Check this option.

Then choose HDD recovery option appearing in the boot menu.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I am kind of screwed over here.. I have now burned through 2 laptops last week.. both were Toshiba Satellites Model:C655-S5132. I was running iTunes, Google Chrome, ?Torrent, and Google Music Manager on both when they died. What happened was they both froze up when I was listening to music in iTunes and I held the power button down to shut them off.. now they won't boot. I am only really concerned in getting one of them to work for right now due to the fact that I don't have a computer other than these two.

So...
The computer I am trying to fix will boot up past the Toshiba Screen and then will go to a black screen with a white flashing underscore in the top left corner and will not boot any further. I am able to use a windows 7 install disk to try and fresh install it, but I get an error message when it tries to move files. I was somehow able to access the explorer and view all my files through the install disk so my hard drive isn't crashed at least. I cannot boot in safe mode, I cannot boot to last good configuration, no system restore files work, I don't have a saved system image, and I cannot get into Toshiba recovery console.. what the hell do I do now? I just want this thing to start up.

Please someone help me out.. I will gladly provide you with any more info that I have if you need it. Was running windows 7 home premium 64 bit before it crashed.

Thank you for your time.

Back up your files, unplug all other HD's and peripherals,

Boot into BIOS setup to enable Legacy BIOS if present. Next check BIOS Boot order for an EFI Boot Disk: remove it, set DVD drive first to boot, HD second. Then set SATA controller to AHCI. Save changes and Exit.

I removed the HDD from laptop to copy files onto master pc as there was virus. The problem is when I put the HDD back into laptop I cannot boot windows. It comes up with usual boot screen. The 1st BIOS password: I entered it and I press enter and get told its CERTIFIED.

But it just sits there and does nothing else. I then rebooted from CD and i can access the HDD so the HDD is ok and connected. I went into BIOS and set BIOS Password and HDD password. Went back out enter my password and got message saying.
CERTIFIED, HDD WAS UNLOCKED

Again it just sits there what can I do?

Answer:Satellite pro A120-151 - Can't boot from HDD anymore

Hi mypcclean,

Maybe you have the virus now on your notebook and so you can?t boot anymore?
This would also explain why you can access the HDD by a bootable disk.

I doubt that?s a problem of your notebook, I think you have to reinstall Windows. You can take a Toshiba recovery disk to reinstall Windows.

To be honest I’ve never heard about such touchpad behaviour.
Have you tested all touchpad settings?
If there is option to set all of them on default settings please do this and test functionality again.

Anyway, best hardware test is to reinstall operating system and check touchpad functionality with “factory settings”.

Answer:Satellite A100 - Shut down by itself and will not boot anymore

hi Laptop Larry,
try to boot without the batterypack....

can you see the "toshiba screen" while booting?

you can also try to:
- remove hdd
- remove added memory (with no mem the unit should "beep")
- remove odd (cd-drive)

if you cant get the system to boot (able to enter bios, see toshiba logo on screen, no beep)
than it's possible that your mobo died...

Hi Everyone,

I had windows vista on my toshiba satellite laptop.

I decided to downgrade to XP Pro and the installation was going fine.

I didnt realise I hadnt plugged my laptop into the mains and as a result the laptop switched off during the installation.

I had agreed to format the drive and then popped out for 10 minutes.

When I returned the laptop was off.

I have switched the laptop back on and the laptop asked me to press anykey to boot from cd.

I pressed the key,

It says setup is starting and then the screen goes black.

I've tried this 4 or 5 times and nothings happening.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi all,

I have a Satellite Pro 6000 that is quite old, but until yesterday it was working fine. Today, it won't start anymore. The indicator LEDs are on (220v:green/power:green/battery:orange) but the BIOS or OS won't start. Fan doesn't work either. The FN key seems to work - if I press it, the indicator below F11 lights up. If I press and hold the power button the power indicator LED goes off.

I've removed the battery to see if that might help, but it basically gives the save (non)result.

Is there any way to do a hard reset? Or is it curtains for this laptop?

Like to hear your thoughts on this one.

Answer:Satellite Pro 6000 doesn't boot anymore

Hi

Try to disconnect the AC adaptor and remove the battery a leave the notebook for a while. Wait about 20-30 min, connect all parts again and try to boot up.
If it will not work I assume the notebook hardware malfunctions? Maybe it?s a motherboard fault (power supply electronic) or CPU.
Who knows?. Without any hardware tests it?s not easy to find out what device malfunctions

Hello Folks,

I bought a *Toshiba Satellite C850 - 1F2* with *+Windows 8+*.
After installing, upgrading to *+Windows 8.1+* and setting up everything, the whole machine worked pretty fine.

BUT since yesterday the laptop won't boot anymore!
When I turn it on, the HDD makes click and click and the system tries to boot from DVD, from USB, from HDD, from IPV4, from IPV6 and then it says, that there is no bootable device.

Unfortunately I wanted to make the +Windows 8 Restoration-/Rescue-DVDs+ this weekend!
Huh!!!

Well, I still have an *+original Windows-7-DVD and license+*, which would be good as well (I used it the last years).
*YET*, I cannot install *+Windows 7+*.
It says something like that, that +this system is not available for Secure Boot+.

I read about "Secure Boot".
So I pressed F2, turned the laptop on and could with this reach the BIOS.
It is a *+InsydeH20 Rev. 3.7+*.
*BUT*, when I go to "Boot Mode" I can only see, that this option is greyed and I cannot change from +UEFI Boot+ to +CSM Boot+.

Even the change of the HDD made no difference.
I put in my old HDD with Windows 7 installed (wich works in the other laptop), but the system won't boot, for it is +not suitable for Secure Boot+.

*So, WHAT NOW?*
I mean, it cannot really be the Toshiba politics, that you need to throw away your laptop, if the HDD breaks, can it?
For I didn't create the Rescue-DVD, I have just my Windows 7 DVD and another HDD with installed Windows ... Read more

Answer:Re: Satellite C850 won't boot anymore - broken HDD

>I hope, that someone can give me any good advice, what to do now ... without throwing the Toshiba laptop away
Let?s start with this sentence. You must not throw your notebook away. There is always some ?last step? that can be done and in your case you can contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.
This notebook model is pretty new so I can imagine the warranty is still valid so I think you should contact service and ask if you can get new HDD for free. I mean why not if the warranty is still valid.

When I start the notebook, I only get a black screen (after the Toshiba/Bios Screen) with a blinking cursor. Nothing else happens. I didn't do anything like changing configuration, updates etc. before this happened.
I am able to boot the computer from the CD drive (using a XP pro CD or UBCD4win) and access the hard drive (so I was able to copy all my data to an external hard drive), it just won't boot windows (XP professional SP3) from that drive!

Using UBCD4win, I ran diagnose tools like memtest and TestDisk, without any errors reported. I also ran DFT (drive fitness test) from Hitachi (which is the manufacturer of my hard drive). Didn't find any errors, too. I also tried the windows repair install, which ran fine, but didn't change the situation at all. Moreover, I tried fixboot, fixmbr and bootcfg/rebuild from the recovery console, didn't fix the problem. Loaded BIOS defaults - no change. I'm running out of ideas...

So does anybody have an idea, what's wrong with the system? I can't find any error but that thing just won't boot from the hard-drive. Any idea/input is highly appreciated!

Answer:Satellite M30 does not boot from HDD anymore and I can't find any error

Hello

A long story buddy and at the moment I doubt that your HDD is faulty. I have read your posting exactly but have you tried a full format of your HDD? As far as I know you have only tried a repair installation of Windows so in your case I would make a new clean installation.

That means you should boot from the Windows XP disk, delete all partitions and create a new one. Then format the HDD and try to install Windows XP.
Maybe it works.

Good luck and keep us up to date.

Hi there,

I was bought the above model of laptop for an early Christmas present which usually sits down in the living room, my old Satellite Pro sat down there with no issues however with this device the wireless signal is very low and I appear to be having it sitting right next to the wireless router (which is located upstairs in my sons bedroom), I wondered if there's any steps I could take to improve the signal?

It baffles me how a new system has such a poor wireless signal when my old Satellite Pro which was 6 years old had no wireless issues whatsoever.

My other issue is from the moment I switched the laptop on (yesterday when it was delivered) the updates on Windows Update are slow or don't start at all, is this an issue or just normal?

I'd appreciate any help or input at all, thank you.

Hi all,

excuse the new thread but I haven't found any answers anywhere online, just speculation and it's for different models.

So I have a C70D-B-10U, running windows 7 64bit pro. When I formatted it and updated everything, it just kept crashing when trying to play back videos on Windows Media Player. I cleaned the inside and replaced thermal paste, updated to even newer drivers, and started using VLC as my default media player. It rarely crashed BUT it always does when I try to start playing games (nothing heavy - League of Legends). Laptop seems to be doing well with memory tests, no faults detected.

I've read that this could be caused by:
Faulty GPUFaulty BatteryFaulty PSUBad Capacitors on the MOBO

Has anyone had any similar experience? I've reinstalled Windows and it's the same story. If it's a motherboard issue, I guess it would be better to just get a new one?

Thanks

Update: I decided to test the RAM and it seems like it can't handle 8GB. Both 4GB sticks work on any slot, but when I have all of it on the machine it crashes. Do you think it is a motherboard issue?

Hello,

I have buy a Satellite C70D-A-11T and pass it on Windows 7 64 bits Home Premium.
I install all the drivers and I haven't any problems.

When I want to connect it to my TV for first time, I discover there is no sound on the TV.
I try to go on the speaker (near the clock of windows), right click, sound, first tab (I think it is "Playback" in english... I have a french Windows) and my device (TV) doesn't appear.

I come back on Toshiba Support website to download the last driver "HDMI Audio driver" for my laptop, I connect the cable, and it appear in the sound properties. I select it as my default device and the sound come right from my TV.

Great !

But when I restart my laptop (with or without the HDMI cable), the TV disappear from the list in the sound properties, the only one solution to recover the sound is to reinstall the HDMI Audio Driver.
If I start the driver installation with the "advanced" option, I have the list of drivers to install and I see all drivers are already installed, but the HDMI Audio Driver will be upgraded... I install it and it work until the next restart.

Could you explain me why the version of the driver don't stay on the system, and how to make it work without reinstall it everyday ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi

Well, I?m wondering why you purchased a unit with an internal (part of CPU) graphic chip if you want use the notebook for gaming?

The notebook supports the AMD Radeon HD 8400 graphics which is part of AMD Quad-Core A6-5200 CPU.
Such GPU is similar to Intel HD GPU which is also part of Intel CPUs.

Such internal graphic cards are not really designed for gaming? of course you would be able to run and to play a game but don?t expect too much?

Hi,

I have a toshiba C70D-B-306 (psclee) laptop and I reinstalled windows 8.1 from a seperate DVD because i exchange the default harddrive for a fast ssd disk.

Everything works but in my device manager I have 2 unknown devices listed (with exclamation mark), as far as I know I downloaded all available drivers from toshiba support website for this laptop and installed them but the 2 unknown devices simply will not disappear.

Can someone tell me which driver I exactly need for these 2 devices?

The 2 devices are:
ACPI\ASD0001\2&DABA3FF&1
and
ACPI\SMB0001\4&FE73487&0

As mentioned, i allready downloaded all drivers for this laptop and installed them, windows is ofcourse up-to-date. Also I let windows search for drivers on the Internet and on the whole drive, but no drivers where found.

Who can give me the golden tip?

Answer:Satellite C70D-B-306 - 2 unknown devices in device list

There is a good method in order to find out what drivers are missing.
First of all you should check the DEV (device) and VEN (vendor) IDs

Here is an short instruction how to find this details:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD0302U00000R01.htm

Knowing the device and vendor ID, it should not be a big deal to get the right drivers.

At the other hand you should install also additional Toshiba software (Toshiba System Driver) released for Win 8.1
Please note also that there are two Win 8.1 driver areas: ?Win 8.1 update? and ?Win 8.1 32bit/64bit? categories
In case you would not find all drivers within the Win 8.1 update check also the Win 8.1 32bit/64bit categories.

Hello,

after a Windows Update yesterday my system won't boot anymore - no matter what i try!

And i tryed a lot to make it boot again.

thinks like:

- Switching uefi to csm and back depents on try
- Different original Windows installation DVD's (Win 7/8 x64 & x86)
- Different USB Sticks
- Erasing the HDD on an external PC
- Reset the UEFI with F9 while in it - system just crashes!
- Removing the BIOS-Battery and the Main-Battery while also removed the Power supply for like 2 Hours
- Replacing the DVD with an another one
- External tested the RAM and HDD - status ok

I can access the boot menu and the UEFI itself (chanes here gets saved and system reboots), but past that i just get a black screen with backlit on, num lock won't react anymore, need to powerdown to reset.
On start i also see the Toshiba Logo.

Is there an external way to fully reset the UEFI beside Load Defaults while in it?

Any other suggestions what i may do?

(Sorry for my poor english and greetings from germany)

Answer:Satellite L875D-10E won't boot anymore after system update

Hi

> Is there an external way to fully reset the UEFI beside Load Defaults while in it?

There is no other method to change the UEFI mode.
You have to do that in BIOS (press F2)

In order to boot from external medium or to install systems like Win 7 or others, you have to change disable the secure boot and have to change from UEFI to CSM mode.

In case you would use the Toshiba Recovery medium, such changes are not necessary.
Did you try to reinstall the system using Toshiba Recovery Disk or USB Flash Recovery stick?
Did you create such recovery medium in the past?

Hi all,
I have a Satellite A500 that does not boot anymore. When the power cable is connected and a battery inserted, only the LED indicating that an adapter is connected turns on, not the one showing that the battery is charging (It's the same for a second battery).
When I press the power button, nothing happens: nothing on the screen, no LEDs start to flash and the fan doesn't spin.

I've tried disconnecting the cable, removing the battery and pressing the power button for 60 seconds multiple times and it didn't help. The other suggestion I've read was to do the same with the CMOS battery. However, it's not really removable for this laptop.

Does anyone know what I could do or does it look like a motherboard failure?

Would be grateful for any advice to remove the back panel.

I've removed battery, ~16 screws + 1 tiny screw at the optical drive and whilst it does 'unclick' everywhere else, there seems to be something stopping the panel being removed just above the battery compartment and don't want to force it.

Even our IT guys at work cannot work it out.

PLEASE HELP.....my new laptop is very slow so have purchased RAM but can't access the back.

Answer:Satellite C70D-B-30D: How to access back panel after ~16 screws removed

At first I must say that you should not remove bottom cover alone because it will cancel valid warranty. If there is no RAM cover, RAM should be exchanged or upgraded by authorized personal only.

I know every of us think it is easy to do and want to do this alone.
What I know is follow:
2 screws in the middle are fixing the keyboard. What must be removed are 14 screws and small flat screw at the optical drive. That’s all. There is no other hidden screw.

Of course there are also small plastic holders and bottom cover must be removed very gently.

Hi,

Problem now is that Windows will not start up and it wont work in safe mode and I am afraid that all my friends photo's and files are now gone.

I am gutted!

Can anybody help?

Answer:Satellite A300 - After installing Vista SP1 it doesn't boot anymore

Hello

What happens now if you try to boot Windows? Do you get an error message or something else?

Normally before you install something like a Service Pack or Windows 7 you should backup all files first and this should be done from time to time? Normally ;)
I think you can only recover the data if you put the HDD in an external HDD case. Then you can save the data on another computer.

After this you can make a clean installation of Windows 7 or alternative install Vista using Toshiba recovery disk and then Windows 7.

I wanted to set up Ubuntu on my computer, and followed the instructions in the first answer to this thread: dual boot - How to install Ubuntu alongside Windows 7/8 - Ask Ubuntu

As instructed, I created a logical partition using EaseUS software. I did this on my H:/ drive, a hard disk drive (whereas Windows 7 was installed on C:, and SSD).

After a mandatory reboot for the new partition changes, I did not immediately go to install Ubuntu, although I had Live USB to do so. Instead, if I remember properly, I booted into Windows to make sure everything was OK, but only to find out that some "Windows could not boot properly", giving me the option to 'Launch Startup Repair' - which I did, but to no avail. All it did was reported that some 2 system files were missing or corrupt.

I then installed Ubuntu on a third drive because I still needed it to perform some benchmarking. I did this using the 'install alongside windows 7' option.
But now that I don't need Ubuntu anymore, all I am interested in is getting back to Windows, while keeping all the files and programs intact.

How should I go about fixing this? Delete the logical partition on the other drive? I also have that Windows installation CD, and I'm thinking its repair options could be useful - but not having a whole lot of self-confidence, I don't know what steps exactly to take to preserve my files.

Hello,

I am studying for my A+ certification and I wanted to try to install Recovery Console on my PC. I set the CMOS boot order to first boot from the CD ROM drive. I put my XP Professional installation CD in and restarted the computer. Once the XP setup program started running it looked like it was copying files, which scared me because I thought it would ask me before it did anything. So then eventually it got to a menu screen and I decided to press F3 and quit the setup, without installing Recovery Console. I went back into CMOS and reset the boot order to boot from the hard disk drive again, then saved and exited. However now it won't let me boot into Windows anymore, but rather prompts me to insert a bootable floppy or CD-ROM, which is obviously not what I want. I think I may have erased or copied over Boot.ini, and possibly other files. I want to go back to my previous settings before any of this occurred, and I need to keep all of my previous data, settings, programs, etc... in other words I don't want anything erased or changed at all. I'm hoping somebody can provide me step-by-step instructions on how to do this. I would greatly appreciate any help. I am using Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3. If nothing happen I am afraid you must contact authorized service in your country.

O/S Microsoft xp
Satellite A80

Got a problem with the Mat****a UJ-830S dvd-ram drive it suddenly doesn't recognise any dvd or cd-rom.
Checked already the latest drivers and still no responce.
Sometimes i get the message that there is a problem with an I/0 device.
The only thing it does is the light burns and it starts up during 3 sec.

Does anyone know what the solution to this problem is or what can be the cause of it?

Answer:DVD-RAM of Satellite A80 is not responding anymore

Hi,

maybe you should try to remove the drive in the device manager so windows will reinstall it.

If this doesn?t helps, you should contact a authorized service partner since it could be a serious hardware failure..

Would appreciate some feedback from you. :)

Hello,

I've a M30 laptop and it was a good laptop, but one day suddenly it crushed. When I boot up the laptop nothing happens, the Power Led switch on, and the battery and Power conection too.

Not any menssage is displayed on the screen, the screen stay black, iluminated but black, no BIOS, nothing at all. By the other side I can't hear tha habitual noise, no HDD, no FUN.

I've dissambled it, and look for any unwired conection, or any stupid problem, but I'can't find any.

Does anybody know what it's happening?

Juanma

Answer:My Satellite M30 does not start anymore

Hi

I don?t understand why you have disassembled this notebook if you have no experience with such fault diagnostic.

Believe me; usually it?s not possible to provide an exactly diagnostic. For me it looks like a motherboard fault, possibly also the CPU malfunction but who knows!

Without a notebook check it?s not easy to say what?s wrong. So I think you will have to contact the ASP in your country to for a help.

Best regards and greetings

Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1V9 with Windows 8.1.

A few days ago I noticed that the dvd drive does not recognize any disc I put in.

This morning I restarted windows. and since then my notebook is stuck in an apparently infinite loop of failing auto repair.

Please? Can anybody help?

Answer:My Satellite L50-B-1V9 does not start anymore

Hi

Start your notebook and press F12 to enter boot menu. There you will find recovery option.

Use this option to enter ?Windows 8 recovery and repair? options. Try with system restore (advanced options). Maybe this will help you.
Check this document please - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ES0000R01.htm

Last night our new Satellite computer stopped working. Have tried to restart.
Have held On/off for 10 secs, taken plug out and battery out for couple of minutes and tried again.

It would appear power is on as the 1st and middle lights are on at the front of the computer.

When I press on button battery light goes orange then back to white, and computer will not start.

Any ideas?

Answer:Satellite - Does not turn on anymore

Hi Al Hendo!

Can you please tell us what Satellite notebook you have exactly?

I?m not sure what the reason is because I?m not a notebook technician but I think this problem is hardware related and you need professional help from an authorized service provider. The technicians can repair the notebook for you.

I?m pretty sure that an ASP can help you more as the users here. ;)

Hi,

Recently I noticed how my notebook would make a crazy amount of sound from its cooling fan(s). Now it has never been a silent one, but last summer it started to sometimes simply switch off power-down after it had been blowing like crazy. It had gotten extremely hot, not outside, but the Toshiba itself. And I never understood why, since I wasn't doing anything particularly CPU-intensive.
Last week I noticed how the power/battery LEDs would stay unlit even when I clearly had the adapter attached to it, with 220V on it.

Yesterday however it powered down while working with it, and it will not start up anymore! No matter what I press, I see the LEDs do all kinds of things and it sometimes for a second tries to start up, but then immediately powers down again. It doesn't even get as far as the screen showing anything anymore.

This laptop dying on me is especially strange because
- I rarely use and rarely have used my laptop, and it's only 3 years old. I've used it about 2 hours a week, maximum.
- It has never fallen, been hit, gotten wet, gotten extra dusty, nothing external could have caused this.
- I have added an extra RAM module a year ago, it now has 768 MB, but this RAM is way below its capacity and is even Toshiba RAM especially made for this notebook.

So, are these untis just supposed to die after 3 years? What is this?

Answer:Satellite A30-404 won't start anymore!

Added to that: I don't want to send it in for repairs, since I have sensitive information on its HD that I don't like others to mess with, or even read. Is there an easy way to access the HD outside of this notebook?

Hello,
I ordered a Toshiba Satellite L10-108 a few days ago in Holland. I just got an email that it isn't deliverable anymore, so I would like to check out how long it has been gone, because it still is on the website...
Greetings,
HBronsveld

Answer:Satellite L10-108 isn't deliverable anymore?

Hi Hans,

The L10-108 is definitely not listed on the Toshiba UK web-site.

Hello,
This is my first message on this forum. I have a Satellite 5200 701 for 3 years now. I can't watch movies on my TV anymore. I could use this function in the past.

Last november, I formatted my laptop with Toshiba's CDs. As I had no TV, I had not tried using the TV Out function. But now that I have one (different) TV Set, I have tried to use it without success.
When I press Fn + F5, nothing happens. When I go to the screen selection, I can select the 2nd display but in "advanced", I can't find the same features as I had in the past (before the formatting). I don't have in "advanced" the Nview utility...
Is it a problem of driver? From Nvidia, or Toshiba, or Microsoft? Hardware problem...?

I don't know how to solve this problem.

regards,
jimbow

Answer:Satellite 5200 701: I can't use the TV Out anymore.

Problem solved.
Very lucky.

The "Hotkey" was not installed on my laptop, so Fn + F5 had no effect...

sorry

hi,

my Satellite M30 wont startup anymore.... when I press the power button, the power light goes on, the cd light blinks once and then nothing happens...

can some one plez point me in the write direction?

plz help!!
thanx

Answer:Satellite M30 won't startup anymore

Hi

You know, without any detailed tests we can only suggest what could be wrong.
I think there must be definitely a hardware issue because I assume you cannot see the ?Toshiba splash screen? at the beginning of the boot procedure.

It could be something wrong with the motherboard. I don?t know if it helps but try to remove the power pack and the AC adaptor from the notebook for several times. After 10-15min you could put the power pack into the notebook and connect the AC adaptor. Try to boot up.

But if it doesn?t help so in my opinion a technician should check the unit.
Sorry for this general suggestion but I think this is the best way to find out what?s wrong.

who can help me??
dieter

Answer:Satellite M70 will not start anymore

Hi Dieter,

looks like there is something damaged on your machine. Regarding my experiences you can't do much on your own. Probably some part has to be replaced, maybe the mainboard.
Anyway, you should contact service to solve this.

Hi,

The display went black while I was working. I turned off the notebook and turned it on again. Now I can see lots of little colored rectangles. An external connected Display shows the same result.

Many thanks in advance
Toru

Answer:Satellite M70-152 - No display anymore

Hi buddy,

Well, that means the internal LCD display of your notebook is ok and works properly. So the reason must be another one and I assume it?s the graphic card or mainboard itself.

But before you exchange something regarding hardware, make sure that newest display driver is installed from Toshiba. Maybe this can help?

Otherwise you really have a problem. If the mainboard must be exchanged, it?s not cheap but an authorized service provider can tell you how much it costs exactly.
Alternative have a look on eBay for second hand spare parts. ;)

i wanted to start my notebook. it isn't doing anything. I have a black screen. there is a little green light that goes on and off all the time. And the fan is making a lot of noise..
I can't do anything. i can't set it out..

does anyone know what's wrong??

Answer:Satellite A50-110 isn't working anymore

HI Ellen,

Do you see the normal Toshiba splash screen during the initial Post and BIOS load ?. If you do then the flashing green cursor in the top left hand corner of your screen indicates that there is a problem with your hard drive and the system cannot boot the operating system correctly. You will need to try to restore your OS from the recovery CDs and if that will not work then you may need to replace your hard drive.

If you do not even see the Toshiba splash screen or the BIOS settings then you may have a faulty main board in which case you will need to refer to an Authorised Service Agent for your notebook to be checked.

I can not tap my mouse pad anymore.
Just stopped working one day. Buttons work, and I can scroll and move cursor on mad, but not tap.
No settings help, and reinstalling drivers does not either..

Any suggestions?

Answer:Can not tap on mouse pad anymore on Satellite Pro M

Hi

You said you have checked all the touchpad settings and nothing helped?.
Did you check also the single Touchpad device settings??? These settings provide many control possibilities and you can enable and disable the tapping and touching?

Nevertheless, I must say for me it looks like a hardware problem? seems the touchpad malfunctions?

A friend of mine has had a similar problem with the notebook?.
Suddenly the mouse courser moved crazy on the display and it was not possible to control it neither with touchpad nor with external mouse.
The technician has replaced the touchpad and the keyboard and till now everything works? so probably you will need to replace the touchpad hardware

Hi there,

Another challenge for the experts ! Without going into too much detail, by moving hard disks around etc. I managed to screw up my 8.1 boot settings.
Partition-wise I should be ok as the 350mb "system" partition is still there, containing all necessary files.
System will however go straight for automatic repair and tell me it was not able to repair the problem.
bootrec /scanos returns 0. Bcd file seems fine when I take it through bcdedit. Renaming the bcd file and trying to rebuild one doesn't work either as it says there's no installation found.

I did not touch any partitions nor files btw, everything is still there and in tact as far as I know.

Thx in advance !

Answer:8.1 boot settings screwed, cannot boot anymore

Ow and bcdboot, bootrec /fixmbr /fixboot /rebuildbcd, etc don't do or solve anything

Hello guys,

so.. I started using Bluetooth a while ago, using the Internet via cable.. Today I wanted to use my WLan again, but it didn't worked (worked good before).
So I tried to activate it via FN+F8, but all I can see is activating Bluetooth, so the one for WLan disappeared?
The WiFi LED is only flashing when Bluetooth is on. I'd rather disable Bluetooth than not being able to use WLan.

I believe it's a similar problem as
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=67514&tstart=0
but I really didn't want to install a wrong driver or anything.

I'm using a Vista 32-bit and my PC-Tool said I'm using these Networks currently (I just copy and pasted since I honestly have no idea, hahaha).
Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0) Version=6.208.729.2008 MAC-Adresse=00:23:5A:05:61:05
Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN Version=12.2.0.11 MAC-Adresse=00:21:5D:62:D8:1C

I'd so happy if anyone could help me fix the problem anytime soon, since I really need the Wireless capability soon. Thank you :)

Answer:Satellite A350 can't use WLan anymore

Hi,
do you have try this from MASTERG?s post?

"Hi

The FN + F8 would not work if there is a WLan driver problem.
So would recommend doing this:

First of all remove AC adaptor and battery.
Press Power button 30 sec long
Then connect both parts again.
Now power up the unit and press F2 to access the BIOS
Set BIOS to default pressing F9 and save changes pressing F10
Access the BIOS boot up the Windows OS
Now download the compatible WLan driver (I guess its Intel WiFi 5100AGN)
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/

After installation of Wlan driver, install the Value Added Package and Flash Card Support Utility.
Reboot the notebook and try to enable Wlan again."

Hey, would anyone help me.
My A60 notebook won't burn cd's and dvd's anymore.
It just don't seem to read the empty discs.
Some regular it reads but won't start and some it won't
even start.

Answer:Satellite A60 won't burn CDs and DVDs anymore

Hi

Sounds like a corrupted drive device.
Usual such issues happen if the drive lens cannot calibrate properly.
In my opinion there is no much to do. I think only the drive replacement will solve such problem.
As the Toshiba authorized service partner for a compatible and supported drive.

I tried to put a SIM Card in the slot behind the batterie, now I cant get it out anymore.

Can anyone tell me how to get it out?

Answer:Satellite A665-14F - Can't get SIM card out anymore

Hi koalabaer,

You have installed a SIM card in Satellite A665-14F even the notebook doesn?t have 3G card?! Why you have done this? SIM card will not work with your notebook.

Usually you can get out the SIM card if you press the SIM card to partially extend it out of the computer. Grasp the card and remove it.

Check this!!!

Answer:Satellite A60-122 CD/DVD drive does not read CD anymore

Hi!

Have you tested different CD?s? Check this!
It could be that the drive is faulty but try more CD?s. Maybe some are scratchy.

I had a similar problem year ago. My CD/DVD drive didn?t read any DVD?s. I have tested all DVD?s that I had but without success.
At the end I must replaced the drive. :(

Hi there,

my Satellite Pro M10 (PS630E-G207V-GR) doesn?t allow me to turn it on via ist power switch; and if it turns itself (!) on after a bunch of minutes, it doesn?t allow me to turn it off anymore. I already tried to exchange RAM, CPU, HDD, AC power adapter, FAN, but nothing helps. I suspect the motherboard to be the culprit one. What part could be defective on the motherboard? Which Toshiba P/N do I have to order for the motherboard?

Any more hints and tips for tracking down the culprit component?

Thanks and kind regars,
Achim
