Preferred Solution: Satellite C series stucks after Toshiba welcome screen

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

does anyone have any idea on what to do next? or how to use the product recovery disk?

any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Answer:Tecra M3 - Stucks at the Toshiba screen

Hi nmirza,

Does your notebook always hangs on this Toshiba BIOS screen or only if you try booting from Toshiba recovery disk?

Maybe your recovery disk is scratched and you should try another one?

I have a Toshiba Portege Z930-D3S laptop. I wanted to run a system recovery and did everything exactly as in the manual page 4-24, Section System recovery Options. The tool told me that the recovery partition is empty (or something like this) and the recovery cannot be performed. I definitely did not erase it and do not how it can be. Then there was an option to erase sdd and I thought that this might help (don't ask me why) and that the tool would erase everything but the recovery partition. So, I chose it.

Now I have the frozen screen with "Toshiba Leading Innovation" and cannot enter any menu neither by pressing 0, nor by holding F8. I cannon restart the laptop, it seems that it simply fall asleep when I press the power button.

Please, help me to recover the system.

Hello all,

I recently decided to upgrade the Memory in my lovely laptop.
I went online, found suitable RAMs and ordered.

What i got are 2 of these:

Installation is very easy, but as soon as i turn on my laptop, it stucks in a black screen with a white underscore upright.

I guess its a incompatibility problem ?
Could you please help me out?

Thank you.

Answer:Satellite L675-10T stucks in a black screen after new RAM upgrade

I think you are right? it looks like the modules are not fully compatible even if the online dealer page says they are?
You can remove the new RAM modules just to check if the notebook would boot up properly? I guess the unit will power up correctly?.

Solution??? Use another RAM modules? I made good experience using Kingston modules? they could be a little bit expensive but I think they should work properly.

I have a Satellite Pro C850-1FN and for some reason it gets stuck in a Preparing automatic repair screen on bootup. It will sit with the text on the screen and then after about 8 minutes a blue screen will show talking about a problem and then the PC re-boots.

The cycle is then continued.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Answer:Satellite Pro C850-1FN stucks in Preparing Automatic Repair screen

It looks like the automatic repair isn?t possible.
Did you try another option ? HDD recovery?

The HDD recovery procedure would start new system as well as driver installation and would set the notebook back to factory settings.

I think if system repair isn?t possible, your next step should be the HDD recovery.
In case the HDD recovery would not work too, then you should use the Recovery disk.

Dear supporters,

Model: Satellite L775D-10W
OS: Win7 64 bit
Problem: The booting procedure gest stuck after "Windows loads data" and a progress bar undertitled with "Microsoft Corporation", resulting in a black screen and a moveable mouse cursor.

The same problem occurs everytime...
pressing F8 >> all options (icluding safe mode) >> boot gets stuck
Booting from Win7 64-bit DVD >> boot gets stuck
Booting from Win7 64-bit DVD >> all options >> boot gets stuck

Is it likely that the graphic card is broken or that the corresponding driver is not fitting anymore?

Thank you for your time in advance!

Answer:Satellite L775D-10W - Boot stucks: Black screen + mouse cursor visible

Graphic card problem might be possible but in such case the POST (power on self test) would not be passed and in my opinion it would not be possible to access the BIOS.

However, this is just a theory?
Try to boot the notebook using some Live CD like Linux

I would also recommend you to start the advanced boot menu. (pressing F8) and to choose Repair my Computer option.
Then choose ?Toshiba HDD recovery?

This option would recover the notebook back to factory settings.

I can't find my last post regarding this, so apologies if this is a double up...
Other than disliking the OS 8.1 with its  OVERLY ANNOYING start screen/"charms" appearing whenever THEY wish, this appears to be a great little Laptop!
Reasonable specs for my needs, not unlike my 'Vista girl', but with a 750Gb hdd....
but.......... other than the A/C and WiFi lights at the front right, I don't see any others?
CPU activity in particular... so how do I know when it's running/struggling/etc???

Answer:CPU activity light on Toshiba Satellite C50-B series....?????

Hi OliviaITlover Depending on the laptop/computer brand and model you have, you won't have the same lights as others. Some offers light for the A/C, network (WiFi), network (Ethernet), disk usage, etc. while others only offers light for the A/C. Personally, I've never seen a light for the CPU usage. If you want to know your CPU usage (and if it's struggling), right-click on the taskbar and select Open Task Manager. From there, you'll see your CPU usage and if it's struggling or not.

I've had my Toshiba Sat 1900 laptop for about 1 years now and I'm starting to get a few problems with it. I find that the computer is running slow, the monitor is acting weird when I scroll up and down I'm getting a wigly/wavy look from the screen (pixel problem?) and it just doesn't work as good as it did.

I've been told laptops don't last as long as a desktop pc. Is this true?

What should I do about my laptop with these problems? thanks.

Hello everyone,

My little more than one year old Satellite notebook won't turn on when I press the power button. The lights next to the button work, but the computer itself doesn't turn on (no HDD, no CPU).

I took it to a service, and today I called them - they're telling me that the video card overheated (and I didn't really understand, what I got out of it was that the soldered pins got detached) and that's what's causing the problem. They said they can solder it back for $250...

I'm a little skeptical, because I know that I can boot a [desktop] computer without a video card, at least to hear the HDD and the CPU.

Can it be possible that my computer doesn't boot because my video card is detached from the motherboard?

I'm also a little skeptical because I think what they're trying to do is rip me off, that's why I'm asking if this is reasonable. They charge me $30 bucks either way now that they opened my computer and "checked" what was wrong, and they walk away with even more money if they get me to agree to repair it...

My fear is that possibly they even fiddled with my video card now (let's say that the problem was a simple wire and they ruin the soldering on my video card...) just to get me to pay $250 bucks for the computer back.
If I choose to not repair this computer, they'll probably offer to buy it off of me for about the same price if not lower, and it's still a very good lapt... Read more

I am thinking of purchasing the Satellite L300-1AQ, how will i be able to connect to my Toshiba Regza 37" LCD?

The LCD has no VGA only 2 HDMI ports, is there a Toshiba notebook that has a HDMI port?
What is the most cost effective way on connecting any Toshiba notebook to my LCD TV?

Thanks for your help....

Answer:Satellite L300-1AQ Connection to Toshiba Regza 37" LCD AV series 37AV505DB

As far as I know the L300-1AQ supports only the RGB port (VGA port).
This port provides only analog signal and I doubt you will be able to connect it to HDMI port because you cannot convert an analog signal in digital signal.

I don?t know what further ports the Toshiba Regza 37" LCD supports but I think in this case the HDMI port is not useful.

(I think I posted this on the wrong forum at first- hope this one is ok!)
Hello everybody, first let me say hi as I'm new to this site!

I have a Toshiba Satellite U305-S5077, with an Intel Pentium Duel-Core processor T2080, 1024 MB DDR2 SDRAM (512MB X 512MB) (uses PC2-5300) 160 GB HD.

I'm looking to upgrade the RAM because it runs a little slow for my tastes with Windows Vista.

My question is, would it be beneficial to invest in another Duel Channel/Duel Core RAM Stick, or would it be just the same just to purchase a regular old memory stick (non duel core)?

BTW, the RAM's that I'm looking at in particular are:

CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Notebook Memory

I don't know much about duel core/duel channel, but when I went on to Crucial's memory uprgrade site, it said the following:

Q: Does my computer support dual-channel memory?

A: Yes.

To benefit from the performance advantages offered by dual-channel systems, you should install memory in identical pairs. Installing a kitted pair is the best way to ensure that your modules are identical, right down to the chip count.Click to expand...

So it seems to me like it would be better to buy the duel core.

Oh, and one last question, does maximizing/increas... Read more

Answer:Need help please making a Duel Core RAM purchase for Toshiba Satellite U305 series

Thanks again

Thanks Again.

Found a replacement for my motherboard.

Unfortunately the support personnel there was unsure if some chipset could still be usable. Is it possible that any of them would be damaged or already have been damaged? How can I check without a second pc to check them?

I desperately need to fix my pc. My brother's projects are all inside the hard drives (I have two) which is a little difficult to extract in pc rental shops without the software (their school issued it for uniformity).

hey all,

unfortunately my much loved netbook has aquired a cracked screen right about here <<<^^>>>>
will Toshiba be able to replace it? does anyone know what sort of polices they have?

Answer:Toshiba NB series - Cracked screen

I doubt Toshiba or any notebook manufacturer would cover a cracked screen under warranty. The standard warranty only covers manufacturing faults, not accidental damage.

I think the LCD screens are cheap anyway so I would send it to a Toshiba Service Center and get a quote. There is an ASP list on the Toshiba website in the support section.

Well, I accidentally dropped my laptop...on my foot no less. The screen worked for some time afterwards, however started to flicker and just recently went completely black. I took the screen apart and saw no damage. The screen is NOT cracked or damaged in anyway. I can shine a flashlight on the screen and see my desktop just fine. Now when I open the lid, it will stay on for just a few seconds, but goes black. The problem? I'm confused. Is there a part for the screen that I can simply replace? or do I have to buy a completely new screen? It seems like a waste since my screen isn't cracked or damaged, just the back light is gone. There is no inverter in this model so that is not the issue, it is all LED. I'd appreciate any feasible answers to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance

I had a previous thread about the same problem back in May of this year about my screen going black. I replaced the screen with a new one and everything seemed to be fine until a few days ago. Opened lid and screen was gone. So far I've done basic troubleshooting to try and figure out what the problem was. Last time I was able to connect a monitor to the laptop and use it, this time that isn't working. I've drained the power supply by removing the battery & plug holding power for 30sec and trying to restart. I've also checked the memory this time, removed old and put in a new set, still nothing. The diagnosis I've come up with is that it may be the video card which I know is integrated onto the motherboard. One thing I did notice is that it's taking a while for the fan to pick up and come back on and it came on when I closed the lid. It does not shutdown now when the lid is closed. Sorry for such a long description of the problem, I just wanted to be as detailed as possible and get some kind of feedback as to what this might be. Thank you

-Remove the battery and Power adapter
-Press and hold the power button for 30-45 seconds (with battery and power still removed)
-Insert just the battery and attempt to boot the laptop.
-Insert just the power adapter and attempt to boot the laptop.

If still unsuccessful: Remember to remove battery and power before removing/installing components

-Remove the power and battery
-Remove the hard drive from the laptop and attempt to boot with the battery installed. Do you receive any error message?
-Remove the memory modules from the laptop
-Insert just the battery and attempt to start the laptop (you should receive beep error)
-Try inserting just one module of memory and test (swapping modules after each attempt)
-Remove the optical drive and test.
-Try disconnecting the CMOS battery for a few minutes then re-connect and try.

The loading bar gets to the end, then restarts from the beginning. It's been doing this for a least 2hours....

Surely rating the performance isn't important. What should I / can I do? Shall I continue to let it runs it's course?

Why is it doing this anyway? What is it struggling to install?

This evening I bumped my computer screen as I rested it down (not too hard, but it slightly slipped from my grip).

The laptop appears to be functioning okay other than an issue with the screen. About 3 quarters of the screen is not working, it is just white background, with colourful streaks, and a large diagonal black line.

Is this likely to be simply a broken screen, that could be solved by replacing the screen itself? I am waiting to order a new screen but I don't want to spend the money if the problem is likely to be something else..

Also I've been told it's relatively easy to replace the screen yourself. I've done minor repairs on laptops/pc's in the past (new keyboard/track pad). I don't have warranty/insurance and can't afford a pro. Is it something I should be able to do myself?

A few weeks ago I very kindly filled in an online questionaire for Toshiba. The theme was 'it is now over two years old and it's still working. A week later a big two inch line appeared down the middle of the screen! My last notebook from another manufacturer lasted me five years and my nice has now used it for a further two without event.

I thought I would tell Toshiba about this stroke of misfortune. I logged into the website support pages and looked for the 'contact us' information. Nowhere to be found. So it looks like I need a new laptop.

Answer:Screen Failure on Satellite A series

This is very pity but what to say. Every notebook is a high-end product and I think a hardware fault can always happen.
To avoid a trouble I recommend always buying an additional warranty.
In such case the warranty will cover everything.

Just only some words about the malfunction;
Well? it sounds like a GPU (graphic chip) fault.
But to be 100% sure you can connect the notebook to the external monitor. If the same will appear on the external display then you can be sure that this is a graphic card fault.

Unfortunately, the graphic card is fixed on the board and it?s not possible to remove only the GPU. In such case the whole motherboard must be replaced.

This is my second toshiba, first one was with me for years.
I have a new one now satellite c series but every now and again the screen goes completely black.
I have found the only way to recover from this is to switch it off and wait for 60 seconds before turning back on.

I can find no commonality between the situations when this happens.
I have googled the problem and there seems to be a connection issue to the screen on some models.
Is this my problem or is it something else?

Answer:Screen keeps going black on Satellite C series

Could you provide some essential information firstly?
It would be useful to know what notebook model and what system do you have exactly.

Did you check the notebook in connection with external monitor?
If not do that. It would be interesting to know if something would be visible on 2nd screen while internal screen is black.

Answer:Where to get screen hinges for a Satellite A45 series

Hi there,

why don?t you just send your machine to an service partner? If you still have warranty it should be no problem asking the service partner for a repair.
Otherwise, if you want to do it yourself, you will have to look at google and type "yourmachinename hinges" and you should at least found a dealer, which is selling some parts.

If you need something to search for a local servicepartner, then I have a good link for you:

my laptop is about 10 months old. Recently the screen appears to go off. What actually happens is it becomes so faint I can't see anything.

I've connected it to an external monitor and there the screen displays, so I presume there's no problem with the graphics card.

Is there something wrong with the invertor or back light? The odd time I tilt the laptop monitor up or down, the screen will return or the odd time the screen will work again (out of the blue), but eventually fade to black again.

Any help or pointers is appreciated, thanks.

Answer:Screen turning black on my Satellite C series

Yes, I think there is some problem either with FL inverter or the display.
But this depends on notebook model you have purchased.
Either you?ve got a notebook with backlight display or without backlight. In such case the backlight is controlled by FL inverter.

From my point of few in both cases the faulty part should be replaced in order to fix this issue.

The notebook is 10 month old and therefore the warranty should be still valid.
Don?t try to fix this issue at your own hand but get in contact with authorized service provider in your country for get it fixed under warranty conditions.

I just bought my laptop and twice in the last two days i've been in the middle of something and then all of a sudden the screen goes blank.

The computer continues to run but the monitor just goes black. Could this be from overheating or is it something more serious like a defective product and what can I do to fix it?

Answer:Screen of Satellite A series turns black

Make sure the video driver is properly installed. Try connecting an external monitor and see if the problem continues. The problem reproduces if you move the screen?. It is always a good idea to bring the unit to a Toshiba Service Center for further diagnosis

My Satellite L50-A is stuck in a reboot loop. I have powered the computer down and emptied the battery.

Every time I plug it back in I see the opening Toshiba screen (with no invitation to press F2 to enter set up) then it goes back to the rebooting screen.

I have tried using a bootable recovery on a flash drive but t doesn't work.

What is there else to do?

Answer:Satellite L50-A stucks in reboot loop

I presume you have tried to reinstall original recovery image. This should work.

Enter BIOS and set it to default settings. after doing this restart your notebook and press F12. Choose USB device as bootable device and try to start recovery image installation again.

Hi there,

I'm hoping someone can help me or knows what to do. I have Satellite C660-15r it was turned off properly but when put back on it came up with start windows normally as if it has been interrupted, I clicked ok to that but instead of loading it has gone to do some sort of recovery only it hasn't been able to complete this and instead has said there is nothing to recover.

It is know stuck at this and will not go any further says to get system admin to log in however its not allowing to log in or do anything apart from shut down and restart, I have been trying to factory reset but it will not work at all I have tried many attempts with 0 and other options i have been told this doesn't work but I can get up f2 and f8 on load up all that works ok but I cannot find any option to be able to factory reset. it gives me options to recover but they take me to the same screen with no improvements and safe mode will not work.

I hope someone can help me I will be so grateful.

Thank you in advance.

Shell :)

Answer:Satellite C660-15r stucks and no recovery possible

At first I must say that recovery option is available if notebook has ?factory settings?. After reading your posting I don?t know if you still use original OS installation that you got with your notebook or maybe OS preinstalled on your own.

I presume you didn't create recovery media (DVD) using preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator, right?
In your situation usage of recovery disc could be easiest way to fix this and install original recovery image.

Can you please post exact notebook model?

Answer:Re: Satellite P870 - screen flickers for some time after Toshiba splash screen

I don?t know how it looks like but something like this should not happen. If you have brand new notebook contact your local dealer as soon as possible, explain the situation and ask for replacement.

If you are not happy with your product you can get replacement. In my country customers have 14 days time to do this.

Hi, I'm having trouble with the screen on my Toshiba Satellite L775-S7352 when it reaches the Welcome screen on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. This happens while reaching the Windows Welcome screen & sometimes it will reach the desktop before going fuzzy. It boots fine into Safe Mode.

I've already checked the HDD and the Memory - they are fine... I've done a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit from the manufacturer's recovery disks - the screen and everything else worked fine even through the first round of Windows Update (193 files) the machine rebooted after the updates and I checked for more updates. As soon as the installation of the second round of updates began the screen went buggy.

So I formatted the HDD and tried another reinstall - I successfully reinstalled the system and this time the screen went buggy trying to search for the first update for this reinstall...

Is this an issue with the screen or the GPU? any ideas?

Answer:Blue vertical line appear on screen of Satellite M series

If this blue line is present from the first second after switching the notebook On than I presume it is because of defective graphic card. To be sure try to connect external display to see it the same will happen. If yes, it is evidence that this line occurs because of defective hardware.

Does it appear using special software like Microsoft Office Word?

I have been looking through all the post in this section and I am also one of the many users who has bought a Toshiba notebook that dosent work.
It starts up and then gives a black screen with disk error text in VERY weak text, almost not visible at all.

I dont know what to do, have tried all this usual things but to no avail.
Annoyingly i can see quite a few people with the same problem posting threads here.
Nobody seemed to be able to post a solution, the only suggestion is to take it to a service workshop.

Does anyone have a solution or is it just poor quality products in general?

Answer:Black screen and vague text on Satellite L series

Hello buddy

Please be a little bit realistic. Your problem description is so bad that I cannot understand your problem.
You didn?t write which notebook model do you have, you didn?t write what you have done with your notebook, you didn?t write which error text is shown. With short words: no any useful info in your posting.

As I can see you found only two people with ?similar problem? although nobody knows exactly what your problem is.

So if you want to discuss here about this issue be so nice and explain exactly what happen with your notebook. Other solution is to visit nearest service. It is much easier to understand the problem if the notebook is placed in front of you.

When laptop is on the internet, and updating/refreshing the screen, if I don't keep moving the mouse, the refresh goes very slow, or just stops.

This happens on another Toshiba laptop I know of.

I have windows 7.

Any clues? Thanks

Answer:Satellite C series - need to keep moving mouse to refresh the screen

To be honest I cannot imagine what is happening with your notebook but probably its just an software issue…

Perhaps you should simply close not essential processes running in the background… additionally you could try to clean and repair the system using the freeware tool called “CCleaner”.

After that reboot the notebook, defragment the HDD and finally check the notebook performance.

If it doesn’t help, you may try to recovery the notebook back to factory settings … not quite sure if this would be a real option for you but in case of software malfunction, this should definitely fix the issue.

Hi everyone!

I have a "M30X-124" which normally runs on 1,6GHz, when I use it with my power supply.
No matter what I change on the processor speed in that Toshiba tool, it still runs on 591MHz!

I didnt used it for 2years. Now I saw that problem.
My mainboard was changed before i stopped using it. I read in some forums that its a processor/mainboard communication problem... and that there is a microcode update (or whatever) on CD which fixes the problem. I tried that microcode fix from another notebook, but without success .

Do someone knows about that problem?
Where can I find that fix-CH?

Thanks in advanche!

After using for couple of hours, the key E of the keypad seems stuck up i.e. I cannot key in anything as the key e appears continuously.
I have to re-boot the computer to overcome this.

Anyone have similar experience and what can I do to prevent this from recurring.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite A200 - keyboard issue - E button stucks

I didn?t notice any such similar issues.
But it would be interesting to know if this is a mechanical issue with the E button or if this could be related to the software (Vista update) issue.

To be honest I can?t believe that an Vista update could cause such issue.
I?ve got 2 notebooks and Vista was preinstalled on both notebooks.
I updated it and something like that has never appeared.

If you want you can check if the same issue would persist after the Recovery procedure.

But in my opinion there could be an issue with the keyboard and maybe it?s advisable to contact the ASP for keyboard check and for a keyboard replacement if necessary.

However, recommend checking the +Reset your PC+ option

Last night I was working on a slideshow using windows movie maker in Vista. I had trouble getting the software to recognize my video files for my camcorder so I was suggested to try and download codec so it could play my files.... I have no idea what I was doing but gave it a shot.

Even though the codec didn't work even after download I was still able to run my computer normally. This morning I woke up and continued to work on my slideshow but my computer would not play my slideshow. All it would do was play the audio and music files.... Everything else seemed to function so I decided to reboot.

My computer will reboot but now my screen is black. It still "functions" I can see it changing different colors of black and grey as it is rebooting... and I can hear all the audio that comes along with rebooting but I can't get my laptops screen to work.

I hooked up my desktop monitor to my laptop to see if the monitor would work that way and it did for about 30 sec and then turned black also. I then rebooted and hit F8 and ran in safe mode with my desktop monitor still connected. I am able to run in safe mode but not reboot normally. I think I downloaded some virus with that codec.

I then decided to unhook the desktop monitor and just hit F8 hoping the screen would show up on my laptop... but that still won't work. It remains black.

Now I am running in safe networking mode so I can find out what to do next. I tried a system restore in safe mode but I think ... Read more

Answer:Screen wont turn on and can run Vista in safe mode on Satellite P series

I'm a newbie here but have you tried.....

1. Press F8 (either press and hold or press repeatedly) while Vista boots and then select a Safe Mode. This should automatically brings up the Administrator account (no password necessary) and you can then reset your usual account to administrator.

2. Simply delete all enabled user accounts (including the one you are logged in as) remembering to leave the Administrator account disabled. Then log out.

3. Use Offline NT Password & Registry Editor to either unlock the Administrator account or promote another user to the local administator group to regain access to your locked Windows Vista PC.

4. Also Vista has a hidden super-user account.

Just my 2 cents.

Hello to everybody,

I'm italian, I've a Satellite A300 with Vista Home Premium, I payed 30 euros for the free upgrade to Windows 7 that reached my house yesterday. I received 2 DVDs:
- 1 to "make ready" my laptop : *TOSHIBA UPGRADE DVD*
- 1 to upgrade the O.S. : *WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM UPGRADE DVD*

+The first step:+ to use the first DVD: all right, "the system is ready to install Windows 7, please insert the second dvd". When I insert the second one, I accept the license and after that, the first step of istallation: *"system compatibility check"*
*This steps is my problem.*

I restated more than 10 times the praxis but it jams at that step, I left laptop at this step all night long but today morning it was still there, no advances, it's obvious that there's a problem, but I cannot understand if it depends on my laptop or on the DVD.

I tried to start the laptop with Windows 7 DVD inside, the system start by the DVD but it ask me to format the partition in which are vista files and this is not an upgrade. I bought an upgrade just to not delete previous programs and to not format the first partition of my laptop's disk.

How to do, whom can i turn to?
Does anyone have the same problem?
Does anyone know an escape?

hi everyone,

I have a toshiba satelite pro 4270 laptop, and have finally got pretty much everything configured correctly and sorted out after expperiencing RAM propblems. Right, so heres the slight problem with the laptop, which involves the screen. The screen is 13" and (unfortunately) has a max resolution of 800x600. Basically the problem is the screen is verry laggy, and when i type on MS Word, it takes like two seconds for the text to come up on the screen, and the laggyness is making using the laptop a negative experience. I first suspected the graphics were not up to the job of displaying xp, but i connected the laptop up to an external monitor, and the laggyness problem is gone. There were also a few older games i was intending up install on the laptop, but there is no point due to this problem.

Does anyone know wether toshiba just made duff screens on toshiba laptops, or wether there is any way to change screen response rate?

many thanks in advance!

Toshiba Satellite L755-S5153
Windows 10.

It was upgraded to Windows 10 sometime last week. Ran fine for a few days, then when they went to turn it on a few days ago, it flashed the Toshiba splash screen and the screen went black. Now, when you turn it on the power button comes on and hard drive light flashes, like it's accessing the hard drive. The fans also kick on, but it sounds like it's pulsating.
The screen itself does not come on at all, no back light or anything it just looks like it's still turned off.

I pulled the hard drive and backed up the files on it as a precaution, when doing so I tried to boot the system without it to see if it kicked me out to needing a media to boot from, but it acts the same, except that the hard drive light still flashes like it's trying to access the hard drive that's no longer there.

Any ideas on how I should proceed, or any idea what caused this?

** Sorry for sounding scatterbrained, long day at work.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite, Screen Doesn't Come On.

The first thing to try on any laptop with a blank screen is an external monitor. If it is connected and on, most laptops will use it when you turn on the laptop; but, some may make you fuss with the key which looks like a screen somewhere along the top.
If the external monitor works, try reseating the video cable on the system board end.

I got a Toshiba Satellite S50, it?s about 6 months old. Now when I turn it on all I get is the "Toshiba leading innovations" screen and that?s it.

It doesn?t go past that, just stays there. I can get into bios, I don?t have the original hard drive that came with the laptop, I have a 500gb 2,5" Toshiba hard drive. I want to put my windows 8 on the hard drive.
I?ve created a bootable USB with windows 8 on it, set the laptop to boot from USB, changed to UEFI BOOT but nothing happens when I reboot the laptop. it just stays on the "Toshiba leading innovations" screen.

Any ideas what I can do or is the motherboard knackered?
I?m assuming the warranty is out the window as the original hard drive is not in my possession as the original owner took it out as it had his private data on it. Will Toshiba fix this for me?

I only want it to pass that ?Toshiba screen..but no joy..

Answer:Satellite S50 - cannot pass Toshiba welcome screen

Hi Billy,

In the BIOS have you also enabled 'Secure Boot' under the 'Security' options in the BIOS, WIndows 8.1 requires this to be enabled.

Also your warranty will depend on if the HDD is 'User Accesible' - did you have to remove the whole bottom cover to change the HDD or just remove a door? If you only had to remove a door you will not have voided your warranty as this is a User Accesible part, if the HDD is the cause of the problem you will be charged for repair, if the Motherboard is the cause you should not be charged.

Hope this helps,

I have a just barely 6y/o Toshiba satelliteA135-S4666. Few says ago was working perfectly fine, now the screen footed blank after a few seconds of turning on. It's still running and sometimes i can get the screen back on if i move it back and forth.
That at least gets me to believe maybe a wire is just loose and not the graphics or motherboards. I just need some directions on were to go from here.

The lcd screen backlight work fine, but screen is reddish. When I connect the external monitor to the laptop the video is great. When I installed a another used lcd screen into laptop the is white, and no video. So, I ordered another video cable hoping that this will fix the problem. What could cause the lcd screen to be white? The external monitor work good with the laptop, I am not getting any video to the lcd screen. Could the video on the motherboard be bad?

Answer:toshiba satellite a40 laptop-LCD SCREEN

I don't think you have a bad video card if the image on the external monitor is fine. It sounds like its either the video cable or the backlight inverter. If the original lcd screen is bright enough and clear enough (except for the reddish tint) then I'd suggest trying the new video cable with the old screen. If you still get a reddish tint then I'd recommend replacing the backlight inverter (if you can - not all laptops allow this).

The only reason I can think the new screen isn't working is due to no/out-of-date/incompatible drivers. Still, not sure why the screen would be white. Have you tried the screen with a different laptop?

I and my wife have same toshiba satellite laptop. Her laptop screen suddenly started showing white and some colored disorted lines on half screen. Yesterday I took at my laptop screen and replaced on her laptop and display worked fine.
So is it that i have to replace whole lcd or it could be some part like I remember there is a cable attached to screen.
Any help will be appreciated

Answer:Toshiba Satellite L675 LCD screen

When this happened on a granddaughters Toshiba it was due to a make up spray "wicking" through the rim. A new screen was needed as there was a bit of "shorting" on th circuit board concerned.

Hi guys. my mate rang me up today and said that their laptop screen just went blank. i asked what happened and they said it just went like that. i have read about inverters or backlight. How can i fix it cause its out of warranty. also how do i get stuff off the hdd if the comp is really dead? Can i just take it out like a pc and hook it up to another? Any help would be great
i will post more if i find out anything else about it.
Cheers Matt

Answer:toshiba satellite blank screen

If you can shine a light through the back and still read the writing on the screen (it will be extremely dim) then it could be a bad inverter or backlight. If you test it out and can't see any writing on the screen using a blacklight then the screen has gone out and will need to be replaced.

Hi everyone, I'm very sorry if this has been asked and answered before. I have a Toshiba Satellite L305 series laptop running windows vista home premium. Last week I got a blue screen that I didn't read in time so I don't know what it said, and then it shut down. I tried to restart it but only get to a black screen with a moveable white arrow. I tried using windows startup repair, it gives me a white bar at the bottem that says loading files then the windows copyright screen but then just does the same thing and goes back to the black screen. I've tried booting in safe mode, booting with last known good configuration, and system recovery. I've also tried using a recovery disc, that I had to buy from toshiba b/c I lost my disc in a move, to no avail just the same black screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW when I put the recovery disc in you can hear the disc spinning and the fans working until it gets to the windows copyright page then everything dies down and black screen time.

Hi All, I have a g560 laptop which i bought just a month ago and use it for my study and entertainment purpose. I have noticed that sometimes when im using the laptop for more than 2-3 hrs. It starts giving me white screen. Lets say for ex. when the screensaver is supposed to come up, I get a white screen or when I am shutting down the white screen flashes for two times or when I turn the pc off, Its stuck at the white screen even though the laptop is off. The only way I can get the screen is off is by taking the battery out and then put the battery back in. In the past one month I've got this issue multiple times. Any help would be really appreciated. I work for a branded computer manufacturer myself but bought a LENoVo because my brother has been using a lenovo since the last three years without an issue. Thanks in advance

Answer:Stucks at white screen

Maybe you need to update your BIOS. BUT WAIT!! If you do that, do it under DOS.
Please, look from this:
Also, you can call Lenovo's support.

My P500 has a habit of getting stuck at the Toshiba Leading Innovation screen, sometimes it will go past it other times it won't. I have gone into the Bios and 'load default setup' that will work for a few days.

Taking out the battery helps too. I have run a full hardware diagnostics on the Hard drive and it reports as healthy. It's a stroke of luck if I can boot into Windows.

What would be causing this?

Hi there, I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 and just today I've encountered a frustrating problem. Let's just get a few things out first.

I had intended to turn it off last night, but it didn't shut down. There was some message about a program still opened or something like that (not a big deal I thought as I had gotten it a few times before). I just clicked whatever it was that ended it or turned it off anyways. So today I come back to turn it on and it was on that message. I turn it off and come back later to turn it on. I noticed there was a black screen and I could not do anything. I hold the power button to turn it off and restart it. It loads the Toshiba/Phoenix screen fine. Then I get to the Windows Recovery screen. It gives me two options.

- Use the Windows Recovery thing to try to find and repair any errors
- Start Windows normally

I tried the first option a few times but it said there was an unspecified problem due possibly to some hardware configurations (did not do anything before). I restarted and pressed F2 and looked for anything that might have caused it and I exited without saving any changes (Toshiba/Phoenix thing) and then it led me to the screen with the Safe Mode and other options. I chose Safe Mode just to see and it led me to the log-in screen, but after that it would not let me see those same options again. Anyways, I would start normally and at the loading screen, the bar would load but there is no Vista logo. After that, there's ... Read more

Dear all,

I have Toshiba Satellite M70, I need help and i will describe my problem:

- Few days ago my screen went black suddenly, i don't know how cause i was away from the laptop.
- Until yesterday, when i boot my laptop, it gives me black screen all the time but when i put him in standby mode by closing the notebook for few seconds and then i click the on button, my screen starts displaying fine until my next reboot and i start all over again ( i usually keep my notebook working almost 18 hours which means there's a lot of time to my next reboot)
- But Today, I booted too many times , it gives me black screen and the standby mode doesn't work anymore. But few times today when i was trying to boot, the screen displayed the Toshiba screen for only 1 second then gone black again.

P.S. You can see hardly threw the black screen everything if there is a sunlight facing the laptop.

Thank you in advance,
Best regards,
Mr. Mher Krikorian

This is very useful info?
I think the issue is related to the FL inverter?
The FL-inverter is a small part which controls the display backlight.
If this part starts to malfunction then you would see everything like behind a thick fog?

In my opinion the FL inverter should be checked and replaced if necessary?
For that you have to get in contact with an local service technician?

Greets & happy new year!
