Question: My elite book 745 won't boot up after interrupted update

Hi my daughter's elite book was updating when it was switched off, now on power up i get the window icon and the circle of dots then a flash of a box at the top 1/2 of the screen then it says restoring from a previous version goes dark and then repeats this cycle over and over. Preferred Solution: My elite book 745 won't boot up after interrupted update

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello all, I am asking for my daughter who has a HP Elitebook 6930P laptop. When she goes to boot it up, it gets just so far and shuts itself off as if there was no power to it. This happens when it is plugged in or running off of the battery.

She is currently running a scan disc to see what the computer actually picks up.

She has had it the same time as I have had my Dell Latitude E6410. We got them both at the Electronic sale at our fair grounds last year.

What could be wrong with her HP?

Thanks

Answer:Hp Elite Book 6930p Boot Issues

hi, everyone. I'm CaMidltn's daughter. The elitebook is mine. Its running a comprehensive hdd self test at the moment. I went to boot it up about 3 or 4 days ago, and it got past the boot menu option, gave me the windows loading icon, then suddenly shut off, like the battery had been yanked out. When i would try to reboot it, it would give me the boot menu, get past that option, then show me that it was trying to recover windows. (which i guess is normal given that it randomly shut itself off with no warning.) right now the hdd test is at 70%. It lets me do the diagnostics perfectly fine, but when i try to boot it beyond the screen with it offering this, it shuts off. I have tried to attempt to boot on strictly battery, battery and plugged in, and even strictly plugged in. All with the same result.

Any advice or thoughts you guys have would be very helpful at this point. I'm great at figuring out select things when it comes to computers, but this issue is way out of my depth.
Thanks in advance.

Hi All -  I have an HP EliteBook840 G3 and downgraded it to Windows 7 Enterprise (Our System Image). Since the downgrade, when booting as a normal laptop, the Intel Boot Agent forces a network PXE boot. When plugged into the docking station, it boots to the Windows 7 Image normally.  Does anyone know what I can do to solve this? When outside of the dock, it will not allow me to push (ESC) to enter the system bios.  I have several other HP laptops that I've downgrade with sucess, this one seems to me the trouble maker.  Thanks! G

Alright so the problem is as follows, recently my laptop was giving me a few issues so I downloaded the hp software that is supposed to help. Well it didn't do that it bricked my machine. It recommended a bios upgrade, and seeing as I do not like updating bios I went to chat with the support team, not very supportive as they told me to update my bios.I downloaded the file clicked install followed the steps and it restart.... has not turned on since.Stats:Windows 7 enterprise 64bit (work laptop, for the most part lol)Last know bios from 2012What's happening:When attempting to boot the system the screen is black, the power logo illuminates, caps lock blinks, wifi logo solid yellow, power logo solid white. The fans ramp up and do not stop, the power led won't turn on even if it's on the charger.Yup. FML.

Answer:HP Elite Book Folio 9470m won't boot ugh!

Update let me clarify, 5 blinks with scroll lock and caps lock(long pause between each blink), then fans ramp up, now I have power led wifi led and disc drive led all illuminated. But no caps lock or scroll lock led blinking after the 5 blinks. I pulled the cmos battery and the battery out of the laptop, waited..... and now plugged them in.Will keep you guys updated if anything changes.

When updating my BIOS today I encountered problem of my laptop EliteBook 2570p not booting after update of the BIOS. It has a black screen with no signs of working hard disk or screen and the only things that working are the led light of "power on" and blinking "AC power" light. I read some information on the hp support but BIOS restore with key combination does not work for me as I cannot turn laptop off. Hard reset also did not work. Whenever I will plug battery or AC adaptor back two LED lights mentioned above will start to work indicating that computer is actually working. Can somebody help with this issue or suggest what to do best? Thanks!

Aloha,

I'm helping out a friend. He has a Sony Vaio laptop. He tried to download the latest XP system updates a couple times and turned off the computer during the download. After the first time everything was fine, but after the 2nd time he must have interrupted it at a critical point. Now XP won't boot, goes through the XP screen and once in a while a message pops up very briefly that says not enough virtual memory and then reboots.

I can't get it to boot in safe mode either. Also tried to boot from the XP CD and again restarts on its own.

We'd like to fix it so he does not lose any info on the hard drive.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Mahalo,

Hello,

I just got a new Acer laptop with Vista and a Windows 7 upgrade. I installed the upgrade, and everything went fine, but after I shut it down it went into auto installing updates.

As I was on critical battery and couldn't find my charger, it shut down before completion. Now whenever I try to restart I get an error screen (which is only on for a second or two so I can't get the numbers off it) and then it tries system repair, which fails, and if I try system restore, this also fails.

I would have been happy to re-install the OS, as with it being new I have no important files on, but didn't get a Vista disc with the laptop and my Windows 7 disc is just an update disc.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Steven

Answer:Windows Update interrupted and now cannot boot laptop

Just took a photo of the screen as it flashed up and have the full message and error codes from the error screen. I've also put the Startup Recovery error messages/code below. System Restore says it runs fine, but then on restart it just returns to the Windows Error Recovery screen, then the Stop Error screen regardless of which restore point I choose (from 3)

My HP Elite Book just quit and won't respond to anything.  I can see a red light on the back left side but the computer won't power up or respond to anything.  Normally, I can power it up from the front left side or the screen itself but nothing happens.  I know it was fully charged as it was plugged in and prior to it stopping the battery was 100%.  Truth be told, I accidently got my foot caught in the cord when I was carrying it a couple of days ago and it landed on the carpet but not a scratch anywhere on the computer - remains pristine but the bottom piece came off during impact.  I slipped it back on and didn't have any issues with it before or since - until it just quit!  The last thing I was doing prior to it quitting was powering my Fitbit Surge and working on an article within a couple of programs.  It was working perfectly and I lifted the computer to log on and it blacked out so to speak.
Obviously, I know nothing about how to fix or resolve the issue so guidance is so much appreciated.  Did I mention I am on deadline for an editorial story and that computer has everything on it including my story!?!

Thanks in advance!

Update clarification it is an HP ProWindows 8.

Answer:HP Elite Book stopped working

Hi, Sorry about the trouble you seem to be going through, You could try the following steps to resolve the issue, however if none of it works, you may need to call hp on 1800-474-6836 to get a pickup-repair & return setup, unfortunately that would take about a week or 2 before it can be fixed.Hopefully this helps you (fingers crossed).1) Hard reset to ensure there isn't any static causing the issue - Remove all external devices connected to the pc, disconnect the battery and then hold the power button in for 30 seconds without the adapter connected.2) If there is a light showing up on the charger port & on the power button but the pc doesn't have a display, you could attempt to connect your pc to an external monitor and transfer all your important documents to an alternate pc and work towards completing the editiorial piece before deadline...If that doesn't work - i'm afraid you will need to call HP.

Hi everyone, I work on the helpdesk of a company and one of my users has been having an issue. He has an Elite Book 8460p and just recently started having issues with the touchpad on his computer. When he double clicks the upper left corner of the touchpad nothing happens. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for the Synaptics Touchpad twice, with drivers directly from the HP site. I have also switch the user's hard drive to another 8460p but the same issue happens. I have attempted to disable the touchpad in the Synaptics Device Options under the Mouse section in the Control Panel. After I hit the Disable button, it does turn the touchpad off for a time, but it seems to turn itself back on randomly. I would disable it, apply and hit OK to close the windows, test the touchpad and it would reenable itself. Has anyone else seen a problem similar to this? I was hoping there was a way to disable it in the BIOS, but I did not see anything.

Answer:can i use an HP w1907 Monitor with a HP Elite Book notebook?

You would be much better off with digital signals. I would do HDMI to DVI, not VGA. Somehow the signal from the monitor to the computer is not telling it to use a wide aspect ratio.  Which Elitebook is it? If you have a video configuration utility on your computer...e.g Intel HD or nVidia, you can perhaps create a custom resolution but with the hardware you have the computer is seeing it as an old school 4:3 ratio and you need to have 16:9 (widescreen) options. What options is Windows offering you?

Evening,
I hope someone is able to help me.
I have two external hard drives and both are connected to my pc all of the time as one is accessible by my wife and the other for system back ups or saving additional information.
However, I have noticed that my main back up drive is no longer visible / accessible through WD Smart View and was previously protected by a password. The display on the front of the drive is no longer lit and I am just left with a white dot of a light on the front to signify that power is connected. I have check all power / usb leads and all work fine and the pc recognises the connection of the drive with a sound but still this drive remains invisible and not displayed even in my computer.
Therefore, I am in need of some help as trawling through various forums I have drawn a blank on where to go next.
Any help in trying to access my drive would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I have a HP Elite Book 8470w with Windows 10. I found on the HP driver download site the driver for the fingerprint hardware but I can not find the software which works whit it and therefore register my fingerprints. Before upgrading I used HP Security tool (with Win 8.1 64 bit). Does somebody can help me finding the software? Is there a change to use a windows base program too? Myn thanks

Answer:Fingerprint Software for HP Elite Book 8470w - Windows 10

Hi: Yes, the ProtectTools software was replaced with the Client Security Manager software which is not listed on your notebook's support page. See if this version works from the 840 G1, which was the successive model to yours... HP Client Security Manager provides enhanced Windows login and website single-sign-on capabilities. Security Manager is also the host for HP Client Security plugins, and therefore should be installed before other Client Security modules. This package is provided for supported models running a supported operating system. ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp74001-74500/sp74101.exe

It appears that the problem is a defective login process. Is there any way, short of a reinstall, of fixing it?

It would be *really* nice if MS would tell what was preventing shutdown. I've hated messages that just say there is a problem, but give no details, since day 1.

Answer:Locked out after interrupted update

Hi, if you have a previously created system image or disk image, a routine procedure we strongly and repeatedly advocate, you will be quickly and easily able to restore your PC from your previously created image set, held on external storage.

If you have nothing like that (e.g. created by Windows Backup and Restore, Macrium Reflect, Acronis True Image, Aomei Backupper.....), you are in significant difficulty.

There's a very much outside chance you might get your PC to boot normally by restoring the backup copy of the registry, but there's absolutely no guarantee of that.

If you did get that far, I think you would find inconsistencies with your system files which would probably need an in-place upgrade repair install (which is like Windows installation but keeps almost everything) and can only be run after a normal boot.

I need help. I have a new Dell Inspiron with Windows 8 installed. I have used it about a month and can loose anything if I have to. This computer has no CD drive so using a boot up disk is not an option. I opened my computer and on the screen had an update need to be installed. So I hit OK. The install paused and after 2 hours, it hadn't progressed. There was no where to pause install, and nothing I did gave me a pause button. So, I did the dirty, I shut down the computer.
Now, of course, it is a blue screen.
I can tap the F2 and get the start up. I was think that I could go to factory settings. But, Im no computer expert and this sight seems to have experts. I will be eternally greatful for help out there.
I did search for this question on this sight and all said to use a disk, but I have no disk drive. Unless I need to use an external drive for a disk.
Thank you in advance for anyone who will take the time to help me.

Answer:Interrupted Update on New Computer

Can anyone give me a suggestion on this thread. I really don't want to call Dell and pay the $125 tech help. I know this was a self inflicted problem, but the update was frozen and didn't know how else to pause, or stop it.
So please "Tech Support Guy's", give me a suggestion, or a place to look for help.
Sincerely, "Gal with limited Tech Knowledge"

hi,
i wonder if someone could advise me here......
i recently did a clean install of XPH including SP3, and then went to download latest updates to date (about 40 of them including IE7 etc).

the updates downloaded, and then started to initialize/install. After the second one installed, i was interrupted and had to cancel the updates installing. The next day, i went back to redo the updates, and the Windows Updater went straight to the installing part and completed successfully. I have them listed in Control Panel\ Add-Remove Programs.

to get to the point >>>> now i notice in my Windows Explorer, under the root of C:\ i have a new folder called 006a144(etc etc) with a Sub-Folder called "Update" >>>> 128 files, 42Mb.

the Folder contains files with extensions of xx.MUI, xxxx.dll, xxx.MOF, executables, etc. Sub-Folder is IE7 related.

Would this be a temporary Folder for the purpose of the Windows Update ? and would it be safe to delete ??

(i think i know the answer, but thought i'd just ask)

thanks....

Hi everyone

My grandparents have just bought a Advent Roma 2000 laptop. However, from the moment it was switched on, there were problems.

For one, I didn't find the instructions were sufficient, and I found it difficult to find whether things were been done correctly during installation, especially as we are people who have never even seen Windows 7 before.

Anyway, we switched on the laptop, and a screen saying it was installing system drivers was on for about 40 minutes, so we left it an extra 2 hours to finish the install. We went back to the laptop, and the system had restarted.

As the laptop booted up, an error message appeared stating that windows could not be installed correctly, and to restart the laptop to complete installation, which we did. However, that didn't work. We tried booting in safe mode and various other options, and the system recovery is obviously not able to be used.

Any ideas, as the lapto can not be used!!

Question: Boot interrupted

I have a fairly new Acer netbook that has suddenly started to have a booting issue. Before the problem started, the normal sequence was that just after the power button was pushed, the cursor would show up at the upper left corner of a blank screen, and two or three seconds later the words, "Windows starting" would come onto the center of the screen and the booting would continue as normal.

Recently, however, the booting process started freezing at the point with the cursor in upper left of the black screen. I learned that if I hit control/Alt/delete the screen would go black for a couple seconds, and then the booting process would resume as normal with the "starting windows" coming on again.

I should also mention that using control/Alt/Del doesn't always work the first time either. Sometimes I have to do it two, three or four times to get the booting going again.

Does anyone know what may have caused this problem, and more importantly, how to correct it?

Answer:Boot interrupted

Whenever I'm confronted with a Windows or boot-up problem that has no other obvious cause, I test the hard drive first before looking elsewhere. The most reliable test is the drive maker's own testing or diagnostics software. The links are here:

I daresay the hard drive is fine but it's best to be sure of that first.

Question: Boot interrupted

This just started after using Windows 10 normally for two days.

In the boot process at the start I get a black screen headed by "Edit Boot Options" which then describes the correct boot path etc. and is followed by [ /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN ].

If I then click on "submit", the boot proceeds normally.

How can I get rid of this extra step?

I am trying to do a Java update, which I have done before without any issue, but now it is giving the following message and not installing:  "The wizard was interrupted before Java 7 Update 51 could be completely installed.  To complete installation at another time, please, run setup again."

Here is what I already tried:
disabled all startups:  same
disabled all nonmicrosoft services:  same
disabled all services (except windows installer):  same

I searched this site for the above message, but nothing came up.

Thanks.

Answer:Java update: "The wizard was interrupted..."

I would not bother trying to update Java. Java is at V7 update 55. Uninstall your present Java and download the full offline installer here, either 32bit or 64bit depending on your browser. As noted, if you are using IE64bit along with IE32bit then you would need to install both versions.

Naturally these things always happen at the worst time...last night I'm resizing a partition on an external hard drive and browsing at the same time, which I think had a hand in crashing my laptop. Apparently this happens all the time with Paragon Partition Manager, as Google suggested this topic (Interrupted operation: Insert the Recovery CD - Paragon Community Discussion Forums) before I even finished my query. It says I need to fix the Master Boot Record. Here's where I am right now:

1. "Interrupted Operation" error when rebooting. Windows asked for a recovery CD.
2. Changed boot order from HD to CD drive.
3. Refused to click through my OEM recovery CD because it only appeared to include the option to format my laptop
4. My laptop has a barebones optional OS which I can use only to play music and visit websites. From here I can see that my HD is still intact.
5. Tried System Recovery Options but OEM CD wouldn't allow it.
6. Bought a copy of W7 from Office Max in an attempt to get to the recovery options screen.
7. It worked, but before I could get to the command prompt to follow MBR - Restore Windows 7 Master Boot Record, Windows recognized a startup problem and offered to fix it automatically...so I accepted.
8. Automatic fix did not work. Not only does booting from HD still show "Interrupted Operation" message, the W7 cd no longer loads.

I'm extraordinarily distraught. My entire life was on that laptop, including my college transfer essay (and on t... Read more

Answer:Interrupted Operation, won't boot

Have a look at the partitions - are they still as they were, and do they contain a recognized filesystem.
Did you boot the Paragon recovery media to see what is going on?
Boot Paragon cd - rt click the Hard drive ( not a partition) and select update mbr.

When I recently tried to reboot my computer, the boot sequence stopped and gave/gives me the following message. "Hardware Monitor found an error. Enter Power setup menu for details." Hi,

I just recently installed Windows 7 Professional 32bit onto my HP dv9700, and it's been working just fine. As is the case with shifting to a new OS, there were loads of updates to install. The last one was to do with the video/graphics card, however something interrupted the installation process and I had to shut down in the middle.

Starting up again gave me a black screen, no logo, no login, no nothing; though I could tell that the underlying system was all there because it could still scan my fingerprint and log me in (you can tell by the sounds).
I can't get into safe mode because I can't see anything, and there is no cursor either.

When I shut the lid, and reopen (after logging in) the screen would 'melt' into white, then it would show a brief outline of what looks to be my desktop back when it was running on vista (i.e. I can faintly see my sidebar and gadgets). Though now not even this is happening, it just stays black. Despite this, I'm pretty sure the problem has to do with the graphics drivers and not a hardware meltdown of the graphics card.

I don't have an external screen to hook it up to, so I've been trying to figure out a way to restore the system drivers back to the last workable stage while going in blindly. Any ideas??

THANKS!

Answer:Black Screen after interrupted update installation

You'll want to start it in Safe Mode by mashing the F8 key during startup and selecting "Safe Mode with Networking" from the existing menu. You should be able to see everything as Safe Mode utilizes software rendering and will not resort to using your video drivers. You can then use this as an opportunity to install the correct video drivers. If somehow you cannot install the drivers within Safe Mode, you can use Safe Mode to uninstall the existing drivers and then boot back into regular Windows and reinstall them.

Edit: urgh, I noticed you cannot even see the menu for Safe Mode. This has no relation to your video drivers at all, which means there is some corruption of Windows or you really do have a hardware problem. Given it's an HP, I would not doubt it in the least.

If you wish, you can go into the recovery environment by grabbing a Windows cd and performing the instructions present in the article here to do an SFC scan of all your Windows files. If worse comes to worse (as in your system did not come with a Windows cd and you did not manually create a recovery cd yourself) then you may have to backup your files using an environment like Parted Magic to another drive and then run the recovery partition on your system (which often comes with OEMs nowadays) to give it a clean slate. If that still does not remedy your video woes, you must've coincidentally ran into a video hardware error as you were installing your new OS.

Hey !

I had a very very disturbing experience in which I was forced to shut down the computer, but failed and accidentally sent it to sleep.
Unfortunately, it never managed to wake up. It stayed during half an hour blocked early in the restarting process... I took my chance with a hard-reset.

And then it becomes insane. It gives me the cold shoulder, just hanging in a "Reverting changes" task. It's been a good while too.

I stand in awe wondering how is it even possible to break my setup like this. Considering the damn thing came with no restoring CD of any kind, on a scale of it's all fine to you're screwed, how exactly would you rate me ?

Thanks for helping !

Answer:Interrupted during wake up, can't boot anymore

It might have a recovery partition where you could revert it to factory settings.

If you can get into the bios enable the boot menu which should activate F-12 to show the boot menu on startup.
If so choose 10 & get into recovery options.

I got a new computer approximately 2 weeks ago, with windows 10 as It's operating system.

Earlier today I decided to update and restart my computer. It all wen't smooth and normal, until I logged on to my user account. I saw the familiar screen greeting me like it would when I logged on to my account the first time on a new computer. The whole "Hi", "Don't turn off your computer, it's getting ready", etc. Whatever the reason for this I don't know.

Anyway, I accidentaly stumped on the power switch as I was getting a PS4 controller from behind the computer and it shut down. I started the machine again and logged on to my account, only to see a blinking black/gray screen with the occassional glimse of my taskbar before it instantly dissappears again. The only thing I saw was the black screen and my cursor. I had no ability to do anything, except "ctrl, alt, tab". I brought up task manager and saw that I had no access to almost anything.

I browsed the internet for a solution and figured I would just reboot it. I downloaded the win 10 installation software onto and usb hdd. I then booted it through task manager in my desktop, it started installing normally as expected and restarted a couple of times. Then another annoying thing happened. After a restart, my screen did not respond to the computer at all. It is connected with DP to my GTX 1060 and I tried additional connections in terms of HDMI/DVI, but to no avail. My computer just didn't recognize... Read more

Hi, your second paragraph sounds like it was doing the build 1607 upgrade, and you interrupted that.

Given that you bought it recently with Win 10 on it, I assume it has a recovery partition. If so, I suggest the easiest way forward would bte to use that.

Before doing so, if you have any data you haven't backed up, you should be able to do that using (e.g.) the boot disk freely available from the top post in the Software and apps section of this forum/

About 6 weeks ago after a Windows update (on my desktop Windows 7 system) and then on the following shutdown it did the usual "Do not turn off computer... Installing x of xx updates'. After it did a few then it just hung on one of them for more than 18 hours, so I did a Hard Reset. As I recall Windows restarted OK, no immediate issues. Since that time I have done 2 or 3 Windows Updates and all seems OK.

Now one of my programs that I had not run since the interrupted update that uses WMI is not working. (runs fine on my Windows 7 laptop)

After a little investigation (see http://www.sevenforums.com/performance-maintenance/243922-wmi-corrupt.html) I discovered that winmgmt is not working. From the cmd prompt (privileged):
C:\>winmgmt /verifyrepository

It just gives a pop upwindow saying:
"The program can't start because wbemcomn2.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem"

Indeed wbemcomn2.dll is not on my system, but I do have wbemcomn.dll. On my laptop system (also Windows 7) I can run winmgmt /verifyrepository and it works AND on my laptop there is no wbemcomn2.dll, only wbemcomn.dll.

So I believe that interrupted windows update may have messed this up causing WMI related programs to look for wbemcomn2.dll when they should look for wbemcomn.dll.

Any ideas how I can track down and fix this problem?

Thanks!
Curtis

Running Windows 7 under Parallels on Mac OSX.

The system started an update and in spite of the warning not to turn the computer off, the update got interrupted.

The restart has been 'Preparing Your Desktop' for about 2 hours with no diagnostics or any indicators.

What should I do? If I stop the restart will Windows 7 come up in 'Safe Mode'? Or what??

TIA

Answer:Update interrupted, restart hangs on 'Preparing Your Desktop'

In theory, crashing the system should force it back to the previous checkpoint, and it will attempt the desktop update again. If you're lucky it will go through this time.

It may abandon the update, and roll back to the uninstalled state.
It may also refuse to boot, in which case you should have the option to do a startup repair, and use System Restore to get back to a stable state.

Hiya

i _think_ this is the correct forum.

PC has Windows 8.1 on SSD and Windows 10 on HDD.

The install of Windows 10 was over a Windows 7 installation - and i had it keep all data and programs. Which is did successfully.

When booting in 8.1, it decided to repair the disk with Windows 10.
A fuse blew and now Windows 10 will start to boot (windows logo showing) and then will just go to a blank screen.

Trying to access the Windows 10 HDD from 8.1 - gives

Running EaseUS Data Recovery on the drive shows that the original data is there..

So my question is how can i rescue my Windows 10 with all my apps and data?

Answer:After Interrupted HD Repair Windows 10 wont boot

Hello buzzbuzz Welcome to the Ten Forums!

Having a fuse go or a breaker tripped on you isn't a garden party! I've been right in the middle of something and lost files, data from that type of incident on occasion. If you made the Recovery Drive for 10 or made up the live media for 10 then you have readily available options to work with in order to get 10 running again. (Notation due to the size exceeding 4gb a 5gb or larger usb flash drive will be required to see that made up)
That would be the Recovery and Repair Tools included on the live media for things like the Automatic Startup Repair tool, other troubleshooting options, that includes the command prompt option still, and the last resort of the PC Reset that will bring you back to Day One with the need to install programs again!

What you can do from the 8.1 side is right click on the G drive 10 is on and open up the Tools tab to run the Error checking option. That will start up the Disk Check tool to scan for any disk errors. And besides the startup repair option and the PC Reset you also have the option to see an in place Upgrade to Repair type install that will 10 going again. Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Forums[2]=Installation%20and%20Setup

These are some of the most commonly used repair options available. If you need to see the 10 installation media created having seen an online upgrade by way of the 10 app you will also want to follow the steps seen in the guide for downloading... Read more

From my point of few the EPROM module has to be re-flashed once again using special BIOS crisis recovery disk.

Usually such procedure could be done only by authorized service provider available in your country.

But I found an interesting posting about BIOS flash procedure on U400 series.
See last post [here|http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=62852 ]

But I?m not quite sure if such info would be helpful and if it would work in connection with your notebook. However, in case it would not work, contact the Toshiba ASP for help

Answer:Elite Book 8540w Windows 7 or Windows 10?

@Mrstenter, I don't think you're understanding the topic at hand. HP Support Assistant won't see that Windows 10 is a viable OS for this laptop, so, it won't find anything for it.While most of the components do indeed have several updates, available from the component OEM, HP has been terrible about supporting this "Enterprise-Grade" "Elite" mobile Workstation. The Support Site for the 8540w has been a mess, and terribly inconsistent, pretty much the whole time it's been available, it's a big reason that when it was time for a platform update, I went for a Dell M4800 instead of the comparible EliteBook/ZenBook/ProBook. Now, @Bredzy as far as Windows 10 is concerned; I let the upgrade happen to mine: I tried 8 and 8.1 out on it, and went back to 7 both times.10 has been good so far. All of the drivers I have in place before the upgrade were still in place after the upgrade, which was nice, and even OneDrive is syncing, despite the fact that I don't login with my hotmail account. If you do rely on the mobile broadband card, you'll probably be a bit stuck there. I haven't tried the fingerprint reader out again, yet, because even in 7, the weird blend of Validity and ProtectTools never really jived for me, plus, PT only integrated with IE, which, I basically never use, so it was pretty worthless once the laptop is initially unlocked. If you want to get most of your drivers updated before the upgrade, here's links to everything I use, f... Hi I'm running windows 10 on a 8540w.  It seems to run reliably, but with no deidicated HP drivers i have had to cobble together a selection.  These are my findings. Please add to the list.  I am using version 8.0.3.1345 of HP Protect Tools Security Manager to enable the finger print log-in.  with Validity Sensors Inc driver 2.3.0.0.  This now works as pre boot protection along with bit defender for drive encryption.  but is a bit clunky with the log in screens.  Sometimes after boot swipe it loads directly to desktop other times it will ask for fingerprint or pasword then after swipe need a windows login button to be hit.  Video drivers for NVIDIA work, i cant recall if i have looked for an updated version of these, but it recognises as the correct 880 I seem to recall installing an older version that someone had found worked with windows 8. V 8.02 for the control panel rings a bell but i dont have a record from a forum but i dont have a record.  The graphics driver currently running is 9.18.13.4174 dated 29/06/2015.  Sound and networking seem to work ok and if not those drivers are easy to find.  the buttons at the top work to some extent with HP quick launch 6.5.10.1 - Except the mute button not changing colour.   The ambient light sensor is someting i havent tried to get working but would be handy.  Webcam works ok.  I have no way of testing the sim card slot but ... Good morning,

I have a 4 years and a half old Sony VAIO computer with windows 7 home.

The computer was working properly until a month ago or such. Sure, maybe a bit slow since it's a bit old already yet it was working quite decently.

Unfortunately, one month ago the computer ran out of energy while it was starting (when Windows was initializing) When I tried to turn it on once again, I discovered it would go into an infinite loop trying to restore Windows 7 without success. I tried restarting it in every single mode, yet it wouldn't happen.

I tried to fix the error by using f8 and guiding myself by the assistance of the computer but did was a failure as well.

All I managed to achieve was to make a scan with FRST.

I would appreciate any help/advice on what to do next.

My Elite x3 is bricked after build 15063.251. Microsoft force the update on you and in my case it gets through the download and installation and fails during the application of the build*during the gears phase at the end.

I have rebuilt many times from the stand alone devices recovery tool and can find no way out of the loop where the update is applied and then bricks the phone. Is anyone else seeing similar issues or should I be returning the handset under warranty?

Answer:Elite X3 bricked after creators update

If there really is no other solution i strongly advise to get it replaced. Updated mine with no problems.

Printer is not recognized and needs orginal system BIOS version 2.05 updated to version 2.99 first then to version 3.04 for  HP Photosmart D7560 model printer to function.  The latest driver has been downloaded to the 320 watt hard drive and softpaqs sp73099 and sp7888 are loaded on a USB flash drive.  But, F10 DOS Flash and HPQ Flash  have not worked on the Flashing System ROM feature to update the BIOS version v02.05 Rev A. I have created a recovery USB drive if necassary to roll back to the original Windows 7 Pro 64bit operating system.  Please let me know if it is possibleto update the system BIOS without having to use a recovery option. I don't have a windows 7 disk to restore this computer system.   But I do have full version CD's of Windows 8 and 8.1 that could be used if Windows 10 was not a factory installed upgrade.  This desktop computer is a Refurbished Convertible Minitower that has worked very well so far.

I 'm suffering a boot problem with my (just over 2 years old) HP Elite 7300 MT. Booting stops at the Invent screen. No reaction to any keystroke whatsoever, even the keyboard lights (keylock, numlock, capslock) are off and do not respond to pressing the related keys. I tried removing ALL connections to the systemboard (including system fans), only power and front panel remained connected but that did not help. Switching on with all memory removed too resulted in continuous beeps (as expected). Swapping memory with a newly bought module did not solve the problem. Any suggestions anyone?

Answer:Elite 7300 does not boot

Hello, Once you replace the system board, you will need to enter the feature byte and build id in the BIOS for Windows to be activated. This information can be found on a sticker on the chassis. Please call tech support at 18006251175 and they will guide you through the process if you encounter any issues.

I'm looking for some help on how to PXE boot an Elite x2 1012 G1 tablet with a HP Elite USB-C Docking Station for SCCM 2012 OSD. Everything we have tried has not worked and the BIOS doesn't recognize the docking station's Ethernet port. Thanks, Michael

Answer:HP Elite x2 1012 G1 PXE Boot

Hi Michael, did you see the support advisory on using PXE with the HP Elite USB-C dock here?: link I tested one and found the following worked 99% of the time to PXE boot. 1. Turn off 1012 and disconnect the USB-C dock for say 20 seconds2. Reconnect then wait for the usb c dock to sync with 1012 for about 10 seconds, notice lights on dock change pattern.3. Power 1012 on4. You may see a black screen for a bit before the HP logo appears5. At HP logo press F12 to PXE boot There is currently an updated BIOS link you can try. I suspect there will be a bios update coming to resolve this. I currently use "HP USB 3.0 to Gigabit LAN Adapter (N7P47AA)" link to PXE on the x2 1012 for SCCM 2012 R2 WinPE10 deployment. It uses the Realtek RTL8153 "Realtek USB GBE Family Controller" and  Its been 100% reliable. I havent injected any drivers as PE10(win10) already has them. Here is the driver softpack (windows 7, 8, 8.1,10) if required. link: sp73996 P.S - For anyone looking for the Win10 x64 x2 1012 SCCM client driverpack you can find it here link (For Windows 8.1 you will need to build your own barebone driverpack by installing HP SDM(HP Softpaq Download Manager) find x2 1012 and click on "Build Driver pack" and output as zip file, extract the zip and use in SCCM.

There are many driver and other updates available from HP (bios, utilities, firmware updates, etc. Is there any priority of installation? Do I need this stuff if everything is working fine? How do I find what's already been updated? Thanks for caring!

Hi all. Before I continue, I would like to thank any and all responses in advance. I would like to update my Bios.My current bios version is K01 V02.05. I am currently running Windows 10 and as I understand it, None of the Bios releases for the Elite 8300 are supported by Windows 10. If that is correct then I would have to install the correct OS version to coincide with the Bios I am installing. Depending on how these bios updates must done this could be a very tedious process.  I would like to update to a UEFI bois. After searching through the support forum I read that this is any version 8 bios or after. There are many bios updates for the 8300 and one is a version 8 bios. It is listed as version 8.1.57.1556A (sp69775.exe). Please correct me if any of the previous is wrong. First question is can I choose any applicable Bios update for my specific PC (most recent or preffered) or must I update the bios sequentially, in order of release, until I reach the desired Bios update? In other words can I go directly to this bios or must I install all bioses before this one in order?  Any thoughts and recommendations are welcome. Thanks again.

Answer:elite 8300 cmt windows 10 bios update

Hi @Jimboj Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting. Yes, your PC does not officially support Windows 10. It is an old model and only supports (officially) Windows XP, Vista and 7. Best runs with Windows 7. Windows 10 has been released after the PC was produced. You cannot bring UEFI to the BIOS just like that. What is BIOS, what is UEFI:https://www.howtogeek.com/56958/htg-explains-how-uefi-will-replace-the-bios/  Personally, I do not recommend you update BIOS unless you experience some specific issues with your existing BIOS and you are sure that the new BIOS will fix it. If it ain't broke - don't fix it. Updating just for updaing and just for using the latest verson is not solution. Any kind of update (no matter for what and who relesed it) can fix 2 issues but may introduce 10 more issues. Additionally, upgrading the BIOS (for any vendor) poses more risks because BIOS recovery is not that easy as compared to typical software updates IF something goes wrong. Same applies for Windows Updates, OS update, drivers updates, etc - upgrade/update IF you have issues which you know are fixed in the newer version or for some severe security issues. Otherwise, keep the existing version as long as possible. Therefore, if your Windows 10 works fine now and if BIOS is OK, don't touch it  ** If you insist on updating the BIOS, here are the official instructions >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00007682You sh... Answer:HP Pavilion Elite HPE-372f can't update BIOS

Hello Gamer My guess is windows 10 is not giving best chipset and storage driver for your HP pC. One incorrect system driver can cause all kind of strange problems. You are correct as no BIOS updates are offered by HP and HP is not giving windows 10 drivers for PC also. I don't think this problem is good to fix using windows 10. Do you have any errors in Device Manager? Grzy

Hi folks, I have an Hp Elite 7300 MT with a Pegatron mobo and AMI bios v 7.12. I am fully aware that this bios does not support the new UEFI protocol which is required to install new video cads.  I plan to upgrade to a GTX 1060, and I want to know how I can upgrade my bios so that it works with UEFI and I don't have to worry about finding a card that is legacy BIOS compatible. I've dont a lot of searching on the web and have not found a solution. Appreciate your support.

I have an HP Pavilion Elite e9220f, I am running windows 7 premium edition.

I scanned for viruses with Norton, restarted, and it came up to a black screen with a blinking curser in the top left corner of the screen. All I can do is ctrl alt del and return to the same screen, I can get into bios and switch from my hardrive to boot from cd rom, but that is no help. My computer came preinstalled so I do not have a windows disk or anything to boot from. F8 F11 and nothing else work except F10 to bios.

Does ANYONE know anything i can do to boot up in anyway..
PLEASE help

Answer:HP Pavillion elite e9220f won't boot

"I do not have a windows disk or anything to boot from"

You were supposed to make a set of recovery CDs yourself when you first got your HP computer. There is an HP Windows utility installed which allows you to do that, and the user guide points out that fact.

Without any system backup CDs, you can start recovery from the hard drive by repeatedly tapping F11 as soon as the HP splash-screen appears at boot time:

Elite 8300 SFF PC.  I prepared a bootable USB flash drive but cannot get the Boot Menu or Boot Order configuration in BIOS to see the drive.  Exactly the same as in this other unresolved thread:  USB not available in Boot Menu In "Device Configuration" (BIOS) it is listed, but NOT appear in the Boot Order configuration, even if I save changes and reboot.  I have disabled UEFI and Secure Boot, enabled Legacy BIOS, as I intend to install Windows 7 x64.  During boot I press ESC or F9 to show the boot menu and the USB drive is not listed.  All USB ports are enabled.  Tried front and back ports (except the USB 3.0 ones since W7 does not have in-box driver support for USB 3.0).  I tried preparing it with both Microsoft USB DVD Tool and Rufus. The flash drive has worked fine with several other PCs.  e.g. I have HP Pro 4300 SFF and the flash drive boots no problem there it is configurable in BIOS and selectable in Boot Menu. First attempts on Elite 8300 was with BIOS v2.99.  But I also tried it after updating the BIOS to v3.03 because the release notes remarked about improving USB support, but there was no change same problem.

Hi everyone, I have an Elite 8300 ultra-slim that runs fine on its own, runs fine if I connect my USB3 hard drive after it's running, but will not boot if the USB drive is already connected. It goes through the BIOS startup screen, the "starting windows" message flashes on for about one second, and then it restarts and goes into the "windows failed to start" screen. Details:The 8300 is the base model, with core-i5, 4gb RAM, 320gb internal drive. (QV997AV)OS is Windows 7 Pro 32-bit.The external drive is a Seagate Backup Plus 3TB drive. It has its own power supply.Other things connected: ethernet, Logitech USB wireless keyboard/mouse, tv or monitor via display port. Things that have not helped:BIOS settings. In the "boot order" menu, I have disabled everything but the SATA internal hard drive AND in "storage options" I have disabled removable media boot.BIOS upgrades. The PC came with BIOS v2.05. I tried 2.57, then 2.90. Same behavior.Moving the drive from a USB3 port to a USB2 port.Reformatting the external drive with the existing partition.Deleting the partition from the external drive, creating a new one (GPT), and (quick) formatting it.Going through the startup repair routine that windows offers, with the external drive connected. This resulted in the system not booting ever, and I had to fix that with the recovery routine from the windows install media. I think the external drive only powers up when there is something on the USB line, but even if I do a... Update on this. I connected some other drives ... a Seagate GoFlex, which is powered through the USB line, and also a couple of flash drives. Those devices do NOT prevent the system from booting. Only the larger drive does. I would love to know if I have to avoid all drives that have external power, or if it's really just this particular one that I have to avoid. Any thoughts?

Hi all,

My 8100 won't boot, I get no output to the monitor, and after about 12 seconds, the cpu and power supply fans speed up to maximum rpm.

I've reseated everything, and when I remove the ram, I get the 5 beeps as well as the fans speeding up to maximum rpm.

Any ideas on what is happening?

Regards,
Brenton.

Answer:8100 Elite won't boot but fans are going flat out

Hello, I understand that the system is not POSTing. Please try removing the CMOS battery and all the RAMs in the unit. Power on the unit. If it beeps 5 times, Put one stick of RAM in the unit. You can try a known good RAM on it if you can get hold of one. If the unit still does not POST and the fan revs up high, I am afraid the system board will have to be replaced. Thanks,Robin
