Error in the installation of Synaptics WBF fingerprint drive...

Question: Error in the installation of Synaptics WBF fingerprint drive...

Hello, I am trying to upgrade the driver for the Synaptics Fingerprint driver using the installer: sp77398.exe. When I ran the installer, I received an error saying: "Synaptics Fingerprint Sensor Driver software is already installed. to continue installation of hte Synaptics WBF DDK, please delete any existing enrolled fingers using HP Protect Tools and then un-install the Synaptics Finger Sensor Driver Software". So I removed the enrolled fingerprints, un-installed the two Synaptics applications i found under "Programs and Features", and went to the device manager and deleted the Biometrics driver, however, i am still getting the same error message. Please help.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Last June Synaptics announced a series of biometric fingerprint readers. The news said that they should be available in the 4th qtr. 2016. Were can I go to get one?

Answer:Where can I buy the new Synaptics's USB fingerprint reader?

Hi and welcome.
This was asked before.
I still don't see it anywhere for sale yet.
There must bugs with it or it was cancelled by Synaptics.

With the pc booted and fully working, the installed fingerprint reader functions corretly. If I shutdown the notebook and I restart it, it still functions and I can unlock / login using the fingerprint. If I reboot manually or if the system reboots for example because of updates are installed, the fingerprint stop working. So I need to reinstall the driver using the "repair driver" feature.

Hi everyone,
Windows 10 updated itself to the Creators Update this week and I notice that my Fingerprint Senor will not work after sleep mode.
When I check the Device Manager it disappeared from device manager and if I choose the show hidden device it says the Synaptics VFS7552 Touch Fingerprint Sensor is disconnected.

I have updated the latest driver from Dell webpage and problem is persists. The only way to "fix" it is to reboot the Laptop and the Fingerprint Sensor will work but when it goes to sleep it will disconnect itself again.

Do anyone know how to fix this issue?
Thanks.

Regards,
Derek Tang

Hi, I have the Lenovo Yoga 720 15 IKB 80X7 (4K display), since many days ago, I'm currently posting this on 7-20-2017, the fingerprint of my laptop stopped working so now In the windows hello sign in menu it shows a message in which it says "Windows Hello is not available on this device", the fingerprint option doesn't appear there anymore. When I check the issue on the "update device drivers menu" an exclamation mark appears next to the synaptics drivers WBDI, in the section of biometric devices. When I click on it to see more information it appears this message: "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31){Operation Failed}The requested operation was unsuccessful." I show you in the picture the information I get in the driver tab. I do not have the option to roll back the driver so I can't make it work again. I checked and it is the last driver available so far but it doesn't work. By the way I have the same exclamation mark and the same message of error in the driver "system interface foundation driver", code 31..., is there any link with it?I've already re installed windows twice through the option "reset this pc" from the configuration menu, one without deleting my files and the other removing all, but I still had the same issue with the fingerprint reader since the beginning of the new start, it didn't work. Does anybody have the same issue and a solution? Thanks in advance

Also run System Update and if all else fails try to download the driver, not the software manually from the Lenovo website. Hope that helps.

Before updating to  version 3.3.2.27 I've uninstalled the previous version (3.2...) on my X200 and agreed with the removal of the fingerprint data when I was asked. The installation of 3.3 breaks however, saying that The wizard as interrupted before Lenovo Fingerprint Software could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again. Where is the installation log file that could possibly identify the problem?

I am running Windows 10 on an Acer and recently downloaded and installed the update for the Synaptic touchpad (January 17, 2017).  After rebooting my laptop, I can use the touch pad to move the cursor when logging in, but once the system as loaded,
I cannot move the cursor using the touch pad.  I can left-click and right-click, and shrink and expand on the touch pad, but have no control over the cursor.  I currently have a mouse attached to the computer in order to move the cursor.
When I click on the link for more information about the update, there currently is no information.  Quite frustrating.
Please advise as how to resolve this issue.
Thank you.

Answer:Drive installation error..

Did you get the most current drivers from nVidia? Was this card and upgrade for a system or did you buy this from another source and install it yourself. I have a 6800 PCI E in my Dell and i had touse the Dell drivers not the ones from nVidia. For some reason the ones from nVidia didnt work right. As far as what you are missing...they are just the newest and most stable (read as most current given all things in hacker world) drivers available. Some programs might not run without them. Some games might give problems. It all depends on why the new drivers were written in the first place. Only nVidia can tell you that much.

I have tried to integrate the fprx32_582_4824ww.exe fingerprint utility into our XP SP3 build process so that it installs silently - following the instructions detailed in the text file fprx32_582_4824ww.txt This states that: ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software also supports silent installation.32-bit OS:1. Open a command prompt, then navigate to the folder where you   downloaded the the installation file.2. Run the fprx32_582_4824ww.exe file using the following syntax:   fprx32_582_4824ww.exe <PROPERTY=VALUE> /q /i However, this "silent" install pops up a dialog stating "Open File security warning" and asks "Do you want to run this file?"Publisher: Upek Inc, etc Further down in the same instructions, there is reference to running an SMS install by calling a "setup.exe" program - clearly not applicable to this executable which has a totally different name. So how can I make this utility install SILENTLY, ie without ANY prompt dialogs. ThanksEdT

Answer:X41T Fingerprint software silent installation not possible

Did you try  /S /V/qn? I have also some issues with installing the fingerprint software, I need to do some setting like some of this metioned here but the installation doesn't start at all. ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software also supports silent installation.

32-bit OS:
1. Open a command prompt, then navigate to the folder where you
downloaded the the installation file.
2. Run the p961b_fprx32_582ww.exe file using the following syntax:

Example:

I have a Sat A300 running Vista - on startup the AES1610 fingerprint ident program wants to install - but the program is already installed and working properly.

I have followed each of the processes the installation asks for and still the program wants to install at startup - I would like to correct is problem other than disabling the device

Any ideas

Answer:Satellite A300 - AES1610 fingerprint installation loop

You could go into Regedit (Start/Run/Regedit).

Search for the key RunOnce and when you find it, scroll two up to RUN. You could remove the install program from the list if it's there and close Regedit.

Do please take care. My advice here is at your risk!

Thanks.

Answer:Synaptics Touchpad drive

Hi Zsofia,

Uninstall the driver and then go to windows update. It will detect your touchpad and install the correct driver software. You should be able to use your touchpad even without the synaptics driver as Vista has native drivers for your touchpad.

Hi, I recently replaced the hard drive in my boyfriends laptop, the hard drive was 100% healthy. I Installed a fresh copy of Vista and everything was running swimmingly. I installed a few programmes but nothing sinister, ccleaner, firefox, nero, just the usual suspects. The laptop did loads of updating which was to be expecting considering the new installation of vista. But then I encountered a problem where every time I opened something, like the web browser or even task manager, the programme would open for a few seconds and then close down when you went to click something. I rebooted in hope it would rectify it'self but upon restart encountered a blue screen error. I tried to reboot in safe mode, again encountering the blue screen error.I tried F9 hoping to be given the startup repair options but that option was missing from the list, so I ran the vista disc and initialized startup repair from the disc. It recognised there were problems and told me it was attempting repairs. Once the startup repair and finished the laptop rebooted to another blue screen. I ran the vista disc again, ran the startup repair again. Once startup repair had run it told me this time that it could not repair the problem. I then tried system restore which failed on two occasions.I ended up formatting the hard drive and installing another fresh copy of vista.Everything appears to be ok again now. But I would like to get to the bottom of what happened to prevent it happening again. Luckily it wa... Read more

Hi DAVANDEN, Some report that installing the driver twice works, so you might try just running the driver install again and see if that fixes the prolbem You might also try uninstalling the device via Device Manager Control Panel (right click on Start > Device Manager), selecting "Delete the Driver Software for this Device" if offered, and then rebooting before trying to reinstall the driver. Good Luck,   Good Luck.

What to say dude?????? seems you did a big mistake and bought a wrong CD/DVD drive.

You should know that not all drives are compatible and can be used in the notebook!!!
As far as I know the user manual provides info about some supported drives!

But if you don???t know what drive is compatible try to contact the authorized service provider in your country and order the new supported one!!!

Anyone know a way around this and why its doing this?Click to expand...

OK..here it goes.  I've been trying to install a new primary hard drive (WD 160GB IDE) and then install XP Pro.  However, each time it boots to the install disc I get the blue screen with the UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME error.  Most of the troubleshooting guides I've read in regards to this say to boot to the Recovery Console and run the check disc, however this is a brand new hard drive and I can't get to the Recovery console anyhow as it fails before that.  In addition, this is the second drive I've tried so I doubt it's the drive.  This is what I've done so far:BTW..I have a Dell Dimension 83001.  Per Dells suggestion, boot to XP with at least Service Pack 2.  I tried XP with SP3 and that didn't work.2.  Per Western Digitals suggestion, boot using the XP reinstall disc....that didn't work.3.  Swapped old 80 conductor 40 pin IDE cable for new.......that didn't work.4.  Tried setting jumper to master and cable select......neither worked.5.  Update BIOS to latest version...AO7...that didn't work. For what it's worth...at the bottom of the blue screen there is an error code as follows:STOP:0x000000ED (0x89E34030, 0xc000010, 0x00000000)..........got this code after I booted to the reinstall discSTOP:0x000000ED (0x89E3B8C0, 0xc000010, 0x00000000)....got this code after I swapped the cableAny other ideas?

OK, I upgraded my Toshiba Satellite C55-B5302 laptop to Windows 10 yesterday (it formerly ran on Windows 8.1) , but today, I wanted to change my touchpad settings, because I noticed that my cursor was set to the "none" (the one that looks like it's from Win2000), I found the Synaptics settings, when I clicked it, I saw this

"Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver. If you have installed another PS/2 Pointing Device Driver please uninstall the Synaptics driver by clicking on the Yes button. You then need to reinstall your pointing device driver for your external device again. Do you want to uninstall the Synaptice driver now? [Yes] [No]"

this happens every time. How do I fix this???

I have Windows Vista SP2, running on an Acer Aspire 4730Z, 32-bit OS. My biggest problem right now is that I cannot disable tapping because I can't get into my mouse options. Somehow, during a windows update (which doesn't change during any of the rollbacks I've done) my mouse options became inaccessible.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I tried installing a different version of the Synaptics driver, and I tried installing the other acceptable touchpad driver for the Acer Aspire (Alps). The Alps driver didn't work at all and the other versions of Synaptics were worse.

When I uninstall, there are a ton of locked registry keys that stay in the registry and get in the way of a clean new install. I think this might be part of the problem. Even if I change ownership and permissions, I can't seem to get rid of them. I've only tried it with one of them, but I assume the same would go with the whole batch in that location and I don't know if that would help or hurt anyway. I have run sfc/scannow since I didn't think it would hurt anything, but it didn't fix anything. I also ran chkdsk /r and that didn't seem to change or find anything either.

I have searched this topic pretty thoroughly online and, although others have had similar errors and even the same combinations of programs causing errors, none of the suggested fixes have worked for me so far. I need new suggestions.

A possibly related problem is that I keep getting a security ... Read more

Hi everyone, I'm having a little problem. I was trying to install windows 7 on a Gateway w350a laptop, and I get an error. Prior to this error, I deleted the vista partition that was on it, im guessing along with all the drivers. The error says that the computer can't detect the hard drive drivers, and doesn't let windows 7 start, even though it's installed. I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong, or if there's a way to keep the drivers. I just did a factory reinstall of windows vista, but I want to give 7 another try. Thanx

An updated driver for the Lenovo X1 Carbon 4th Gen Synaptics touchpad was released on 12/25/17. Our company uses Lenovo and we have received a lot of calls and tickets about this error. Has anyone reported this yet?

'
They only way to get rid of the error is to uninstall the driver. If you do this, you get poor performance from the touchpad.

Hi,

I have bought new Toshiba Satellite P300-PSPCCA two weeks back and fingerprint was working fine. Suddnlly it stoped working. I was getting error message Fingerprint login unavailable when I boot my laptop. I try uninstalling and reintalling Truesuite software and dirvers but no luck. I downloaded latest software from toshiba website but still no luck.
I was looking for solution and I read on many forum that need to roll back driver, if that does not fix then only fix would be setting it to factory default.

I try rolling back drivers but it still didnt fix the problem. Finally I set my laptop to factory default and still having same error message......
I have also tried deleting all fingerprint through Truesuite software but I am getting "Error : Failed to delete fingerprint"...

There is no option in bios to delete fingerprint from memory..... cause i have seen in IBM there is option in bios to delete fingerprint through bios... but not in toshiba...

I really need help with my issue.. please.... someone help me out .....

Answer:Error: Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver

Hi

It look like the touchpad driver stopped working.
I have no idea why but I recommend installing the driver once again.

Visit the Toshiba EU driver page.
Choose your notebook series and download the touchpad driver.
Then unzip the driver package and install the driver.
Reboot the notebook and test it again.

Question: FingerPrint Error

I have an odd problem with my T60p. I recently got my notebook return from service for a broken security chip which they fixed. Now i'm having a problem with my fingerprint (internal). It says that the device needs to be installed on the main window log in. So i checked whether the service tech forgot to plug it back in. The touchpad works fine. And I even connected the touchpad/fingerprint portion to another similiar ibm T60 and the fingerprint scanner is working fine too. I checked the BIOS and the fingerprint scanner is activated and it doesn't look to be the cause of the problem either. Howvever, the ThinkVantage FingerPrint Software ==> Control says "Cannot enroll user. cannot find fingerprint sensor device." All the text in the "system settings" is faded out and it wont allow me to change any of the settings. In the Control pannel, there's nothing registered when i open the Fingerprint Sensor. In their EasyServ Repair Center Report, they said they updated the BIOS/embedded controller too...  Please HELP @[email protected]! and the fingerprint scanner was working fine before i sent it off for repair. Message Edited by inspiron41 on 10-11-2008 01:20 AM

The indicator light in the sensor wont turn green and the text saying "Please swipe your finger on the sensor" turns red. I also tried to disable all driver injections and all drivers and insted manually installed a driver for the network card and run System update to get fingerprint manager pro, but the problem still remains. I have talked to lenovo in Sweden but they wont try to help me or try to tell me what could be the source of the problem. Dose anyone have any idea what could be source of this problem or how to solve it? Best regards!

Answer:Fingerprint enrollment error

Problem solved.Reason.In the first i used the wrong driver. After i changed the driver i was testing the fingerprint reader with the inbuild local administrator account. It seems like the fingerprint reader dosent work with the inbuilt administrator account.During my troubleshooting i tried with an other local account but when i tried it i had probably alredy manipulate the driver so it dident work. Conclusions, the fingerprint reader dose not work with the inbuilt Administrator account.

Hello, I'll give a little rundown... so I bought a Cherry GmBH Fingerprint Scanner/Smart card Reading keyboard, and the installation CD had a list of Windows versions it works on, and Vista and 7 aren't on there.

I tried installing and running everything from installer to the demo in compatibility mode but nothing works. The keyboard works, but the scanner doesn't.

At the end of an install I acquire the error "error 0xE0000235 UpdateDriverForPlugAndPlayDevices". I updated all my drivers and nothing.

Also, when I run the demo for registering my fingerprint it says "can't open scanner". I'm sure the keyboard isn't defective as it is new and unused.

Oh and please don't recommend that virtual PC thing because I don't want to install that right now. Please, don't be harsh if I posted something incorrectly, I am new here and haven't gotten a chance to read the rules.

Please help! I don't want to have to find out I wasted money for no reason because Microsoft made a "no-no" on their part.

Ok so I have a T61 thinkpad running XP Professional and my problem is that everytime I choose to login manually and surpass the actual fingerprint login screen I get an error before it allows me to type in my password. The error says at the top of the window: Fingerprint Software Error then in the box it says Cannot logon to this passport.  An internal error has occurred (object: clsid-not-found(CID_Bio::Gui::CssObserver_Creator)).  After that I have two options to click ok or details and when I click details it there are two columns the first says "code" and under it "0xe7210001" then the second column is"Description" and under it says the same this as before in the main window "Cannot logon to this passport......." I think it might be just something wrong with my registry for some reason but also when I attempt to install the thinkpad updates the fingerprint software option is always there so I believe its simply not installing. Please help with any information pertaining to the problem I cannot seem to find any information on this.  Thanks in advanced

Answer:T61 Fingerprint Software Error

I hava a T61 thinkpad running Vista Business and get pretty much the similar error. At every boot I get the following error screens and I can not even choose to login with my fingerprint. http://666kb.com/i/b3edkj5whcu9g0tiq.png After trying to click the error messages away (the one at the bottom pops-up again and again, after clicking OK) I can log in manually but my fingerprint scanner does not work at all. When browsing and awaiting the fingerprint request there is also an error message arising (translated to English it says: "For the requested operation a fingerprint authentication is needed, but the device is not installed. Checkif the device is plugged-in/connected and repeat the operation" ) http://666kb.com/i/b3ed5gehvb17kn1wy.png This I do not understand, since I never have deinstalled any Lenovo software in order to avoid such problems. In the device manager everything looks ok (I already deactivated and activated the fingerprint scanner, but with no affect) I just rechecked TVSU too, but I'm up-to-date I also checked TVFS (ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software), but after starting it I get another error, which says: "VTAPI+ is not initialised (Error Code: 3)"So I checked the folder of TVFS and found a file named "vtapipql.dll" which is described as "VTAPI+ Interface", but here I am at a loss.  I'm appreciating your help! Thanks in advance, and please excuse my not so perfect english, it's not my mother tongue.Message Edited ... Answer:X301 - ThinkVantage Fingerprint SW unable to find Fingerprint Sensor

Go to device manager to check if the driver version is 11/xx/2008, if so, unintall it, and then reinstall the fingerprint software from Lenovo.  It will install the driver with version dated 10/xx/2008.  This solved the problem for me.

I have a user who swears that if he places the T61 in his lap (at home or at the airport) and attempts to fingerswipe, it will not work.  If he places the T61 on a flat surface, (even an angled, hard surface) he has no issues.   I have tried to recreate this on my T61 and have not been successful.  I have not physically watched him, at the office, nor has he said anything about issues at the office.  I have not heard of this issue with any of the other 200+ laptops we have configured for FA, but, because the individual in question is my boss and an executive to boot, I cannot convince him that his situation is unique. Has anyone else experienced this issue?  Is there a fix?  Should I tell him he needs to layoff the caffeine?

Hi, I'm having issues getting the configuration to work. The X220t internal fingerprint reader works fine. I got single-sign-on working from boot right into my Windows 8 domain account. However, the external reader from the USB Lenovo Preferred Pro Fingerprint Keyboard (conntect via USB on Ultra-Dock) does not work at all. It's recognized fine and shows up in Windows Device Manager without any issues. It does use the same driver as the internal one. Not sure if that is intentional or not. Might be the same hardware. But the Windows Biometrics Settings show that device an "Unavailable". I already resetted the fingerprint data (in BIOS and Windows 8). Note, the external reader worked fine in Windows 7. It stopped working during boot quite a while ago, though. Thus, there might be a BIOS issue as well. The BIOS is set to "external -> internal". Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I am using win 8.1 (fully updated) and used to have working fingerprint logon. Now it stopped working. Suddenly I can not use Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro (V 8.01.42(x64)) anymore. Whenever I try to start the application, it asks me for my Windows password, but then responds - "The device is not connected to the computer. Please insert the authentication device." OTH, in the device manager, under Biometric devices, I see Synaptics FP Sensors (WBF) (PID=0017) Also windows fingerprint sign-in option is greyed out. Any hints, what can I check?

Try this:
1.  reboot and then press F1 at "Lenovo" logo to enter BIOS setup
2.  Change to "Security" menu
3.  change to "Fingerprint" item
4.  Choose the option for "Reset Fingerprint Data" - what happens?
5.  Press F10 to save and exit
6.  Try to enroll fingers again - what happens?

Hi. I've searched this whole forum and it seems that no one has this problem... I've downloaded the latest fingerprint software (5.8.2.4462).Installed the necessary drivers. (p961b_fprx64_582ww) The driver installed smoothly as well as opening the software, but when I tried to enroll, and this message, "Cannot find fingerprint sensor device", pops up. It did the same thing when tried clicking on the tutorial. I've looked into the setting, but there's no option of enabling or disabling the sensor. The "Bio service" in Device manager is enable and working properly. So I'm just lost... Any hint/help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I installed Windows 7 on a new (smaller) hard drive using recovery disk. After installation went successfully (according to the pop up the dialog box), the machine restarted and I got the error "No bootable device". The machine is Acer Aspire one netbook with Windows 7 Starter.

The computer detected the hard drive in BIOS. I also connected the hard drive to another machine externally and here's the partition info:

12GB Healthy (Recovery Partition)
102MB NTFS, System Reserved, Healthy (Active, Primary Partition)
97.67GB NTFS, Acer, Healthy (Logical Drive)

How do I get this laptop to boot up with the new hard drive?

Answer:"No Bootable Device" error after win 7 installation on new hard drive

did you check your bios and make sure the new harddrive is set to the first device to boot from?

X1 Carbon, originally Windows 8, now Windows 8.1Fingerprint reader stopped working after battery ran all the way down.  Cleared all Fingerprint data in both set up and Fingerprint application.  Took option to upgrade Fingerprint software to 6.0.  When trying to register new Fingerprint data get error message "E7210005 Fingerprint sensor is exclusively used by another application".Having read, elsewhere in the forum, that Fingerprint problems can be reset by disabling internal battery, and powering down the entire system, tried that.  Same problem on resume. The light on the fingerprint reader no longer illuminates.Ideas welcome. thanks in advancePhilip

Answer:Fingerprint reader software error

I've heard this problem before, and the only solution seems to be replacing the fingerprint sensor.
To confirm HW problem, try this:
1.  reboot into BIOS Setup
2.  look in the security menu for fingerprint
3.  choose the option to reset fingerprint data (or something like that).
4.  You should either see a successful message, or else a message about fingerprint reader not attached.  If you see the latter, it means HW problem and the fingerprint sensor needs replacement.

day 1 with my new x1 carbon...and i got this message when i tried opening the fingerprint reader:E7210001: an internal error occurred (object: objlib_noload(C:\programfiles\ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software\homefus2.dll)). Any any help for this laptop that i paid quite a hefty price for?

Answer:x1 carbon fingerprint reader error

I am getting the same error right out of the box!  You have got to be kidding me.  Really?  Based on when you made your post, it looks like we probably got our computers out of the same production run.   Very frusterating especially since is supposed to be the top of the line. Did you have a chance to give tech support a call?  I am dreading what the response from the first line tech support will be...probably have me reinstall the OS.

After several months of flawless use of the fingerprint reader, It has recently stopped working for me.  I don't know what is different about my system since I haven't really installed any programs to cause any change in my system.  I think the finger print reader could be broken.  Recently upgraded to Windows 7 x64.  Finger print reader was working when I installed new driver except that it didn't show a successful fingerprint like when I had on a vista log in, but when other people try to use their fingers on my reader, it didn't work. I have tried to re assign my fingerprints but the fingerprint never matches (after getting three swipes down).  And while trying to reassign my fingerprint, it would say that the print was too short.  I tried to change the bar to "more convenient" and it still doesn't work.  Anyone know a better fingerprint reader software that would fix the problem? Or am I correct in that the thing is broken and I need to get a replace ment. Specs: T400 - 7417CTO,Finger print reader version: 3.3.0.56  tl;dr--fingerprint reader is messed up anyone know how I fix it?

Did you ever get anymore information about this?  We are deploying v5.9.3 as part of our imaging process with Configuration Manager 2007.  We see this only sometimes when we image a T410 Windows 7 Pro x64 computer.  A reboot will fix the issue.  I have not been able to figure out why this happens.

I'm having problem in FingerPrint management of my Lenovo T400 notebook, the digital register application today IS NOT WORKING ON WINDOWS, since Windows 8, 8.1 and now 10, because the Lenovo Fingerprint or FingerPrint ThnikPad are giving errors from versions Windows 8, 8.1 and now the 10 and the Lenvo so far has done nothing to solve it. Awaiting return.

Answer:Lenovo FingerPrint with error in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10

T400 doesn't support Win8, Win8.1, or Win10.  There are no drivers for the fingerprint sensor that T400 uses.  Only Win7 is supported on that model.

The new machine T430 i7 2349 was just bought on 10 Mar. But I found the Fingerprint doesn't work at all. It always give a message " an internal error occurred(rpnp2:wr(232)), error code:E7210001".  Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance!

try this. http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X201-Fingerprint-software-error/td-p/296290 reinstalling a fresh copy of win7 does seem a wee bit too drastic. to add on, you might want to run a windows system restore, and find out whether one of the potential windows update modules may have cronked out the fingerprint software. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-SG/windows7/products/features/system-restore

Answer:Lenovo X230 FingerPrint Error

If you re-installed Windows and this problem still happens, I'd say there's a strong possibility that your fingerprint sensor has failed and needs to be replaced.  Even if the device looks OK in Device Manager, this really doesn't mean much.  All it means is that Windows can talk to the USB device that hosts the fingerprint sensor, but the fingerprint sensor itself could still be malfunctioning.

Some things that can help confirm hardware problem:
1.  Shut the system off, does fingerprint green LED flash slowly?  If so it means that the sensor contains some fingerprint templates so lets try to clear them.
2.  Turn the system on and press F1 to enter BIOS setup
3.  Go to the Security menu and choose Fingerprint, then clear the fingerprint sensor.  You should see a message about success or failure.  Failure definitely means HW problem.
4.  If you see a message about success clearing the fingerprint sensor from BIOS, then shut the system off again.  The green LED should not be flashing anymore because you cleared the sensor in BIOS.  If the green LED still flashes, then it means HW problem because the fingerprint templates were not really cleared.

So try the above steps to try to confirm the HW problem, or just call service in your country and request help.
