I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Just recently, my super fast notebook struggles to do anything. It fails to load any pages in a browser before it shows 'not responding' and / or crashes the browser completely.  I've uninstalled the Chrome browser and tried again and the same thing happens. The same behaviour in the Edge browser where I also cleared all the data. I recently installed Adobe Photoshop and wondered if that could be the problem so I went to the control panel to uninstall it.... but the control panel freezes and so far I've been unable to uninstall it. I'm now having to use a work laptop for personal use as the notebook which was purchased in January is simply useless, slow and freezes a lot when trying to do tasks that it recently used to zip through with ease. Can anyone help? Has there been a problem with a Windows 10 automatic update recently?  thank you

My laptop suddenly stopped charging when plugged in, and only charges when it is switched off. Also the space bar stopped functioning. I bought it 9 months back and it's still under the warranty period., but they said they will be able to fix the space bar problem only and not the charging problem and for that I would have to pay up. And the charging port that they would change would be under warranty only for 2 months, which means as per HP service center it could stop working again!!!!. I'm a doctor and I live alone. I've hardly used my laptop and no one else uses my laptop. I read somewhere that this was a problem faced by many people using HP laptops. This could be a manufacturing defect. I don't think I should be charged for hardly using my HP laptop that has an inherent defect. You are looting your customers. Kindly revert back.

It was kind of a curve ball, and a little unsettling, because I thought I had solved the problem. I think I've narrowed it down to my graphics card, since a lot of the recent BSODs point to it, but I'm not sure if it's because the drivers are bad, or if the card itself is bad (it's an Nvidia, and I thought that those cards are able to withstand gaming for several years, so I'm a little disheartened if it's a bad card).

Specs:
OS: Windows 7
x64
The original installed OS was Windows 7, I think (this is a used laptop)
My OS is a full retail version
Hardware around 4 years old
The OS was re-installed 6-8 months ago.

CPU: Intel Core i7 Q720 @ 1.6 GHz
Video card: Nvidia GeForce GTS 360M
Motherboard: I'm not sure, but I assume it's the original Asus version?
Power supply: Asus N193 85V
System Manufacturer: Asus
Model Number: G60JX
I'm hoping that this is maybe a driver problem, and not something serious like a defective card or maybe faulty RAM.

Thank you for reading this!

Answer:After a few months of no BSODs, it suddenly came back

Hello NocturnalSleep,

Various differemt bugchecks but they're all pointing to your GPU drivers of DirectX one way or another. I'd recommend uninstalling and reinstalling your nVidia video drivers and reinstalling the latest version. If you're already on the latest version, I'd recommend uninstalling and installing a previous version to the latest to be sure it's not a simple driver issue.

Driver(s) in need of update:

Hello all, I hope you experts can help me out with these BSOD's I'm getting lately.

Heres my problem,

When ever I watch a movie and press pause after an hour or so I get a BSOD, and this also happens when I listen to music files for a while or just watching some flash videos on the internet.

I didn't have this before so its only been recently, I've been running windows 7 64bit for months now, always stable. I wouldn't suspect my hardware to be the problem as I've all ready looked in some minidumps with Win Debugger but I'm clueless on how to read them and find the cause. I've also seen some differences in the BSOD's its not always the same cause. Yet its always when I do the same thing when it happens or so it seems..

Here's my hardware,
GA-P55-UD4 - Intel Core I5 @ 3.9ghz 1.312v - GeIL DDR3 2x2gigs cas 7 1600mhz @ 1488mhz T1 2:8 7-7-7-24-54 1.65v - 260GTX 55nm 216 896mb @700mhz/1404/1200 SLI - Asus Xonar DX - CM Real Power M700

Trust me its stable, I've ran countless of tests before, and the minidumps always blame "vista's" drivers. (quite funny how windows 7 is actually vista under the hood, a bit modified of course)

Anyways I've included the files that are required in order to let you experts figure it out. I hope that its enough, I could also include some dumpfiles if those are required.

Thanks in advance.

I have been using Windows 10 for an extended time, and have not dealt with any issue with BSODs so far. However, they started in the past week, and have been frequent. It appears to be a Bad_Stack_0x109 error, but I have no idea how to fix that. I have attached the zip file.

I can collect any more information if it is needed to help me fix my issue!

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Regular BSOD suddenly after using Windows 10 for multiple months

Only one of the dumps indicates a possible cause, all the rest show ANALYSIS_INCONCLUSIVE.

I see a BIOS update for FUJITSU LIFEBOOK E544 on the Fujitsu web site. Try updating the BIOS.

No Windows 10 specific drivers though.

I do see a lot of Windows 8.1 drivers. Try installing the Intel wireless driver from the web site since the one dump indicated a problem with Netwbw02.sys which is part of the Intel wireless driver. If no help install the Chipset driver.

If still no help, give Driver Verifier a try.

I bought a brand new Lenovo Thinkpad T460S in Nov 2016. This is supposed to be their premium business laptop range. I uses it daily, simple computer work. Lately it starts to have problem hibernating and waking from sleep/hibernation. Yesterday the steel left hinge suddenly broke. I contacted the Lenovo Support today and they replied : The three year international Warranty does not cover the hinges. It's like you buy a new car, then the hinge of your drive breaks and it's not covered by warranty? What kind of logic is that? They want to charge me for the repair. I am getting a quote from them, this is probably the last Thinkpad I will ever buy from Lenovo! I am getting a quote from them. I wonder if we can get the part myself and attempt a self repair. But this is deeply disappointing!

This began yesterday. When outlook is opened it begins a send/receive as per usual. Only it is receiving 700+ emails that date back to June. And it just keeps on receiving them over and over. I have received and deleted them numerous times. Actually, I've noticed that it doesn't always complete receiving all 700+.

I've checked the email account settings and all is well. I've spoken to the ISP (bellsouth) and verified with them that the settings are correct and that the webview version of my mailbox (ie, the server) is not holding/receiving these messages. So now what?

i know it leaves a copy on the server, but i don't remember when it send them again.

I have 2 PCs, one an HP laptop, the other an ASUS desktop, that are both pretty well configured almost identically, same programs installed, same settings and tweaks.

I?m running the latest version of 8GadgetPack on both and had no problems at all for months. (I only use the MS clock, calendar, and weather gadgets.) Then a couple weeks ago they started freezing on my laptop. I noticed the clock was almost 45 minutes behind one day. I tried to double-click it and then right-click on it and then tried the other 2 gadgets. All 3 were frozen. I closed all 3 down with the task manager and re-opened them. They ran fine for about 5 minutes then froze again. (The clock stopping is the give-away.)

I did a system clean with CCleaner and then rebooted. The gadgets loaded and worked for about 5 mins again and then froze up again. After a few days of trying to solve this I decided ?screw it? and went to uninstall it. I saw a ?Repair/Reset? option on the uninstall screen and decided to try that first. It worked, and the gadgets started running normally again and continued to do so for a few weeks. I thought the problem was fixed. Today, out of nowhere, the freezing started again (I noticed the clock had stopped)! I tried the reset again, which didn?t work this time. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Still freezing. Now I?m at a loss.

Answer:8GadgetPack freezing suddenly after months of trouble-free performance

After viewing the FAQs on the 8GP website, it mentioned some issues can be fixed by going into the "Tools" menu and selecting a different display size for the gadgets. There's only 2 sizes available, small and regular. I tried "small" and that seems to have somehow fixed the freezing issue (for now). It's been several hours and none of the gadgets have frozen.

They're quite a bit smaller now, but they are legible. I'd prefer to have them the regular size, but this is okay I guess. I'd like to be able to figure out why the display size affects the performance.

I bought a Novatech PC in December last year and after a month began getting BSODs firstly when playing Assassins Creed 3 and then with other new games such as Bioshock Infinite and Battlefield 3. There didn't seem to be any trigger within the games, just a random crash at random times - anything from 30 mins to several hours after starting to play. The only pattern was the games it crashed in and that, after the initial crash and restart, the PC would bluescreen very soon after loading up the game again.

The errors have included:
0x1A
0xD1
0x50 (most often)
0xA
0xBE
0x3B
0xF4
0x24

I've run disc checks, memory tests, GPU stress tests and all have come back negative. The only possible lead was running a CPU test in OCCT (Home) which causes a BSOD pretty quickly every time.

As the PC is still under warranty I also contacted Novatech who suggested I try removing the Creative X-Fi card and front panel as I added them from my old PC. This seemed to help reduce the number of BSODs but they did still occur, particularly in BF3. I've left the card in recently as it's the only way I can use my 5.1 speakers and the BSODs have been much worse - even occurring in Minecraft a couple of times and when I left War Thunder on idle on its menu for an hour or so.

I've attached my SF Diagnostic output below.

Any help would be great. Thanks!

three days ago, everything was fine. i have a windows vista pc, 32 bit, gateway dx441x. it has a wireless adapter. the other pc in my house is a windows xp gateway that's plugged into my linksys router. the modem also plugs into the router. ive had it set up this was since june and havent had any problems.

three days ago, i turned off my vista pc and it said "installing updates", which it does from time to time. this has never created a problem before. well the next day i could not get onto my network. every time i tried to connect, it said "windows cannot find any networks". i clicked diagnose the problem, it returned with another variation on windows cannot find any networks in your area. both my pcs are desktops, they have not moved an inch. the computer hooked to the router is still working and able to use the internet. i unplugged the adapter, plugged it back in, rebooted, nothing worked. at that point i decided maybe my adapter was broken so i bought a new one. i installed the software for it first, then plugged in the adapter. same problem - can't find any networks! i called linksys, their advice was to uninstall the driver and reinstall it. i went back to the old adapter, since i had ruled that out as the problem. uninstalled the driver under device manager. it went away. put the driver cd back in, went to install, it said this is already installed do you want to continue. i clicked yes, followed the prompts. Hello all,

First off, I am a nerd, my wife is a nerd, we have six computers in the house, running windows / linux, and who knows what, 2 tablets, 2 cell phones, ps3, wii, and a sony web tv.

Everything can connect to my router with no problem.

My 2 month old Sony Vaio, which I use primarily for mobile web development and graphic arts, was really a wonderful machine.

on 01/08/12, I purchased a wacom bamboo tablet, installed everything, and was having a great time sketching things on the computer tablet configuration, when after bout three hours of playing, suddently, I was dropped from wireless connectivity with no reason.

I checked with my wife, who was watching a netflix movie and happily computing on the other side of the couch, and she was connected. So I restarted my computer, everything came up fine, connected to the internet, and after about 60-90 seconds of normal internet happiness, I lost my connection again.

For the last 24 hours ish, this computer has been rebooted, restarted, the router has been restarted and unplugged, I have reset everything, uninstalled the tablet (It doesnt make sense to me how a usb drawing/mouse device may have any effect on my wireless, but hey... at the end of the rope)

And nothing works. Every other device connects just fine.

So, here I am, fellow nerds.

Anyone have any idea why in the heck my computer would run the internet over a wifi connection for only an apx 60 second run?

I need to conquer this,... Read more

I update and save quite a few files each day, and I can see in File History that there are many saved versions for these files.
This would fill up my backup drive fairly quickly, and therefore, I need to reduce 'Keep saved versions' from the default of 'forever' to about 3 months.  But does this mean that all files older than 3 months will be deleted my File History backup?
 What happens to all my files that have only ever been saved once, but are older than 3 months?  Are these retained in File History or deleted?
The forums on File History do no make this very clear.

Hi, I have a problem, maybe the most perplexing I've ever dealt with on a computer. A couple weeks ago, 80% of my games stopped working. Literally, one night everything was fine, the next morning, almost nothing would run. Some games (like FEAR) give me the generic "This program has experienced a problem" dialog box, while others (like IL-2 Forgotten Battles) give me the cursor hourglass for 2 seconds before they just stop. A couple of games still work, notably Eve Online and Far Cry. Basically I can't find a pattern as to what will work or not.

I messed with it a lot trying to fix the problem, with no luck (obviously). After a day or so I decided to do the mother-of-all-troubleshooting, a clean Windows installation (XP Pro). After all, it had been awhile, and that was the one thing that has always fixed problems in Windows. However, after the installation, absolutely nothing had changed. It was at that point that I noticed another problem, which I can't help but think is related: my Game Controllers control panel won't open. Sometimes it beeps in protest, but usually nothing. In my Device Manager, both my game controllers are seen and properly categorized, but the control panel won't open. But that's the least of my worries.

Sometimes Windows installations just don't work quite right, so I had no problem redoing the whole process, including another format of the disk. Same problem. I was getting desperate now, so I unplugged eve... Read more

I purchased said unit Sept. last year and within a few months the battery started discharging for no reason I could see. Battery returned to Lenovo, tested and a new battery sent out (old one apparently kaput). I thought the problem was solved until a few days ago when... Battery starts discharging again for no reason I can see. Laptop eventually went into hibernation. Unplugged charger, plugged back in, switched on then powered up the laptop and the battery started charging. This sequence of events was repeated 3 times in 1 week, until yesterday when powering up the laptop failed. Took the battery out and tried laptop on charger only. Nothing. Put battery back in and tried to power up - then noticed battery indicator gave 3 orange flashes 1 second apart before stopping. Did the battery discharge thing (pressing in the power button etc.). Still nothing. The unit seems to have failed completely. Can someone tell my what I might be dealing with here - a failed motherboard? Yet again I'm going to have to send this laptop back for repair, and it's been nothing short of a nightmare because I rely on it to do work. I've never experienced something like this before with a purchased laptop and I suspect the original battery problem was caused by a fault inside the laptop. As the machine is still within warranty can I request a new machine or a full refund because I simply don't want to use something which may be inherently unstable? Looking at the views ... Hi,

Iv been running two games for some time now that have both been working fine. However, for reasons I don't understand, they have both suddenly stopped working at all UNLESS I right click on the exe files and choose to "Run as.." Administrator.

The games are GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas. As I say, both have been fine but have suddenly started acting up. There are no errors or messages displayed if I just click the shortcut or the exe files, they just don't run. Both run fine if I run them as Administrator, although of course I have to set them up again and copy saved games across etc.

In between working and not working I have installed new monitor drivers but thats about it. Other games such as Ghost Recon and Oblivion continue to work as normal.

Any ideas would be much appreciated at this point.

Thanks

Max

Answer:Games suddenly not working!

maybe it's a less good solution but you could go to the administrator's windows account and change the settings there and put yourself as a administrator, then you don't have to move game data etc

I cannot play some games, for example: Gothic 3, Dead Space, Far Cry
see these photos:

Gothic 3:

Dead Space:

But the following games are ok: C&C RA3, Gothic 2, Mount & Blade, UT2004, UT3.

This is my computer:
OS: Vista x64 SP1
Graphics: Radeon HD 2600 XT + Catalyst 9.1 (8.12 tried too)
MB: ASUS P5WD2 Premium
Monitor: LG W2442PA-BF - LCD 24"

It was OK 14 days ago. The only thing what was changed is my new LCD 24'' monitor. But I think, this is not a problem, because I tried to connect my old 19'' CRT monitor and these games are not playable. I tried reinstall catalyst, but nothing has changed.

Sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand.

Answer:suddenly I cannot play some games

After this weekend wasted with installing/uninstalling drivers and programs installed last month I find out this problem is only under my user account. If I run these games under admin or another limited account, it is ok. I compared running processes under my and other account, there are no differences, I even tried to kill almost all processes, turn off firewall, antivir, but nothing helped. I wonder what possibly could be wrong with my account? Maybe I will have to switch to other account, because I think I will never find out what's wrong and maybe it is the fastest solution. But if you have any idea what to try, please give me advice.

Since i first bought Windows 7 i quickly noticed games ran slowly. I had first bought Win 7 32 bits, then, after finding out that win 64 bit was much faster I decided to get win 7 64 bit. Yet, that's not the point. Later on i realized that it was not just that they always run choppy, but in certain moments they started to run perfectly well and very smooth, although this lasted only for about seconds, very strangely for about a minute.
So, I first suspected if it was something with Windows 7, but then i found out that it was not either windows or Direct X 11, as it seems most games run quite better in win 7 for those who have high specification hardware.

So first of all, here are my specifications:
.Windows 7 64 bit
.Intel Pentium D 2.80 Ghz
.Nvidea GeForce 8600 GTX
.2 GB RAM
.Audigy 2
.1024 X 768 resolution

I'm sure it's not specifically the games because i have tried many of them. When i speak of games i speak of high detail 3D games of course.

There are more hardware components that could have something to do of course (such us the hard disk). So what do you think is causing this problem?
What should i do to solve it?

Answer:Games suddenly turn to run chopy

just as a side note: For your system, a 32-bit windows operating system MIGHT run faster, as the minimum requirement for x64 (64-bit) is 2GB of RAM, and the system usually idles at ~1.5GB, while on the other hand 32-bit can idle ~450-650MB, which would leave more RAM for games.

I would only recommend x64 for those with 4GB or more and/or those that need x64 for specific applications.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On to your real question!
Well i would like to know what game(s) you are trying to run. Also, if you could, please include the year that it was released. thanks
And finally, please follow these steps: http://www.techsupportforum.com/f217...ns-452654.html as these reports will give detailed info about your system
All my games suddenly start running slow at random times during game play, it goes to about 7 fps for around 5 minutes. If i alt tab to the desktop for awhile it goes back to normal speed. I've made sure to close all the windows other than the game, and i've checked the processes for anything taking up a lot of CPU usage but i haven't found the cause of it. Any suggestions please?
Note: I have installed the latest graphics driver and DirectX
Hi everyone,
Big problem is at hand, all my games have stopped working under Vista Home Premium.
One game runs only but with physics glitches and slowdown issues, thats Crysis.
I noticed this when I wanted to play Racedriver Grid, and it wouldn't start. So I thought maybe the game needs to be reinstalled, but no it didnt work. I tried every patch, every fix that the techie's at Codemasters said, but no.
Then after not being able to fix it in about 3 hours I gave up and wanted to play something else. And that game didn't work either.
Now before anyone asks, what I installed....nothing. No driver updates, no anti-virus, the machine isn't even connected to the internet. And one night I was playing and the next morning nothing worked.
All the games are in the processes list but they seem to be idle, they always have the same size in the memory and the same CPU usage percent.
Please help, if anyone encountered this problem.
Thanks
My machine is a:
Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi3845
Intel Quad Core 2,4
4GB DDR2 RAM
Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT
Vista Home Premium
Hi, I have a problem here. I just came back from service depot after servicing my Y560. Previously, my Y560 was totally dead, so  I brought it to service depot to be repaired. After a week, I got information that my Y560 has been repaired. They said they replace the motherboard. Yes, it works, my Y560 can run and start to OS. I brought it back to my home and test it by playing some games. First, I try PES 2011 with high graphic quality. No problem occurs. Then, I try GTA IV, also with high graphic quality. After 10 minutes playing this game, my Y560 suddenly going off. So I press the power button to start the notebook. Surprisingly, when I put my hand near the cooling fan located on the left side of this notebook, I feel that the temperature is very high. As I remember, my old motherboard never got temperature as high as now. Fyi, I'm using ATI version 10.8 for display driver. I'm not sure what difference between my old motherboard and new motherboard. I just have record from CPU-Z, as below :================================================================================================- Old motherboard :   DMI BIOS              vendor   LENOVO            version   30CN51WW            date  ... Answer:Y560 suddenly going off during playing games
its definitely overheat. The hardware is shutting down preventing overheating the main components(like cpu, gpu, chipset...or random part of motherboard). Solutions:1.  Thermo-past under cooling system(olive/gold colored tubes with the FAN) is old and needs to be replaced.2.  Cooling system itself is not well good secured on the motherboard. Just use the screwer to get to the motherboard tighter. Or could be that they gave you **bleep**ty motherboard..  Anyway, as you can see, BIOS flashing on Y560 can be fatal..so...i advice you to do it only if everything else failed.
About three months ago I noticed a severe drop in my fps throughout all my games. Before this issue I was running most of my games at max settings with a solid 60+ frames. Some include DOOM, Dark Souls 3, Counter-Strike Global Offensive, Fallout 4 and so on. Now i'm all my running games at 3-20fps with lowest settings. It might be worth mentioning that Valve helped this issue for me by telling me to turn off XBOX DVR. However, this hasn't done anything major . Unfortunately, I can't pin point exactly when this problem occured and if it had to do with driver or windows updates. Here's some of my pc info:
-Intel(R) Core (TM) i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70 GHz 2.71 Ghz
-Installed memory (RAM): 16.0 GB
-EVGA NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 960 Graphics Card
-MSI Z170A GAMING M3 Motherboard
-CORSAIR CS750M Power Supply
-100g Solid State Hard Drive
-1tb Hard Drive
-Windows Edition: Windows 10
-64 bit operating system
Over the months i've done a wackload of stuff to try and fix this issue. Some methods include:
-Dust cleaning
-Unparking Cores
-Many virus scans with several different pieces of software
-Virus scanning in safe mode
-Testing games in safe mode (they still ran like crap)
-Altering individual game's graphic settings
-Unplugging computer hardware and re-plugging back in
-Uninstalling drivers with Guru3D DDU and getting updated ones from nvidia's website
-Resetting my pc with windows 10 easy reset method
-Praying to God
Unfortunately none of these actions helpe... Read more
I tested many solutions like buy a cool pad or placed a fan in front of laptop's fan or i defrag my hdd nothing helps. I hope someone can help me or tell me if anyone have this laptop too have the same problem or not
Alright, time for a story. About half a week ago I tried to log on to play a game I play regularly on. That game is Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Prior to this night, I had no issues with the game.
That night, I did. I found that when I'm loading into game, I get horrible framerate issues. So much so that when I am outside in the general world and not in a building, I got no more than 10 fps, where I used to get 90. I don't even get a lot of fps inside a building, which requires significantly less loading.
I did 2 things that night relative to GTA. Installed a mod pack and accidently set the assosciation for the texture files the game uses to automatically open with a certain program. I uninstalled that mod pack completely and I managed to undo the assosciation of the file extension. I even reinstalled and even used a game directory that was 2 months old. All attempts had the same problem.
Interestingly enough, I had to reboot and I tried after rebooting (I assumed maybe I just had too many processes running), but it didn't work. I rebooted another time, and my fps was back to normal for awhile. I went to bed then. I wake up the next morning and try, the fps is tanking again. I reboot later that day and try again, and fps is working.
I haven't been rebooting to check the past couple of days.
Now this is where the problem seems to be more than just the game.
First, no other game I have played so far has given me an issue. However; YouTub... Read more
I am not a person to help you but I find it interesting that I posted a similar problem about the same time you did.  I lost sound capabilities on every start-up.  I solve the problem (temporarily) by going to device manager and disabling and then enabling the sound driver associated with my speakers.  But the problem persists upon a restart.
What caught my eye in your post was Nvidia GeForce.  It seems I recently updated the driver per their proprietary offering and pop-up window (not Windows Update module).  I am now wondering if my problem is associated with Nvidia??
Its been a week and suddenly my all games are lagging like hell, even at low setting those games which were like 30+ fps are lagging
I have nvidia 740m, ci3 , 4gb.
I formatted my laptop 2 times (win 8.1 and win 10 - kept win 10 ), updated all drivers but still problem same.
Please tell me how to analyse the hardware performance or anything to do.
I used to play NFS Rivals at 28-30 FPS at low (custom 1366x768) settings now its 10-12 fps
Answer:Games lagging suddenly on Nvidia 740M
I don't have a solution, but I can contribute to what might be happening.
Starting with the driver updates from a couple months ago, a driver crash will cause the video card to think it's in power-saving mode, and start underclocking itself by as much as 33% of it's normal clock speed. This of course can seriously impact game performance. To fix it requires either a system reboot, or disabling and re-enabling the driver in the Device Manager. Neither workaround is convenient, so I actually went back a few driver versions until the problem is resolved. I think I'm using the earl-April drivers, but I'm not at my main computer at the moment to check.
So, I've been trying for the better part of a week now to help my brother figure out what's wrong with his computer. It started about 2 months ago when his League of Legends started to give him problems, crashing several times before a game started. After several fixes, he finally got it working again by simply running as admin. That worked till about a week ago and now his launcher crashes every time so he can't play the game at all now. While we're trying to fix this problem, we play some games on Steam, such as Left 4 Dead 2, which works just fine. Two days later, his Left 4 Dead won't start up and then he soon finds out none of his games will start up that are 3D. (Games like Divekick still run fine for him.) So now he can't play anything 3D.Here's what we've tried so far that has resulted in minimal changes.-Restarted the computer several times.-Completely updated windows 7 with even optional updates.-Verified game cache files.-Updated drivers as much as possible. (This got Saints Row 4 to work again, but nothing else 3D does.)-Tried a .blob fix for the Steam client-Tried reinstalling League of Legends and various steam games, but problems continue to persist-We haven't done this yet, but I doubt it's a registry issue, because he downloaded a new game I gifted him and even that didn't work.-Tried running everything as admin.-Have run several anti-virus and anti-malware checks on his system to find out if there is a v... When was Hamachi installed? I've used it before, and it interferes with my WiFi, try disabling it through the Network and Sharing Center:
1. Right click on the Network bar on the bottom right
2. Open Network and Sharing Center
3. On the left: "Change adapter settings"
4. There should be a Hamachi one, right click and disable.
5. Try and see if the problem persists, it can be re-enabled in the same manner.
Hello Guys,
I recently got a new Satellite A500-19W, but while playing games it suddenly restarts.
Any idea what might be causing this and how to solve it.
Thanks,
Answer:Satellite A500-19W - Suddenly restarts during games
Hi Malek_1,
This happened also to me on Satellite A300. The reason was because my notebook was overheating and so I decided to clean it using compressed air spray. It?s pretty easy because therefore it?s not necessary to disassemble the notebook and it blows out the dust from the cooling ventilators.
Check this!!!
Furthermore in Windows Power Management you can choose between different cooling methods. I use ?Maximum Performance? mode.
You could go to the site itself and ask them. I'm sure they have some sort of helpdesk, or customer service. (might get trolled at first bear with it lol)
Flash is what you need to install though for those games I believe, get the latest version for your browser from adobe. It might help..
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ make sure you unclick the 'install this too' box to not get bloatware
They might have blocked your ip or something talk to pogo mods about it; if updating flash doesn't work. (don't assume anything just ask)
Alright, this is a somewhat long story, but I feel that all of this information may be relevant to the problem. The events are listed in chronological order.
1. Everything is fine. I have no problems with anything.
2. I buy Magicka, a game on Steam, at the behest of a friend.
3. We play for 6 hours straight, no problems.
4. I turn off my computer.
5. The next day, I update AMD Vision Control Center to version 11.8.
6. I don't play anything that day but I experience strange graphical errors. My memory is a little foggy, but I'm 75% sure that this as after I had updated.
7. Errors included a strange screen flickering that I can only describe as a constant screen tearing effect on my desktop. Then there was this odd mirroring effect. It was like my screen was split down the middle and then swapped. My screen also went black randomly twice, at which point I had to hard shutdown do to unresponsiveness. Upon restarting my computer both times, Windows detected nothing wrong. No error messages, nothing.
8. The Problems seemed to stop abruptly.
9. Tried to play Magicka the next day.
10. Played for 2 minutes before the screen went all black or white and my entire system locked up.
Ah yes, another entry in the cycle of my PC problems has begun. I'm basically coming here for help every 3 months now :P
I apologize if the title is vague, but I can't identify which part of my laptop is problematic. I do have a few pointers, though. Earlier this week, my laptop suddenly started ejecting air through the vents loudly while I was casually browsing the internet. Open up the Task Manager, and every antivirus in my computer is gobbling up disk speed carrying out some action. Of course, I was immediately afraid I was going to fall victim to WannaCry, but alas, the antiviruses kind of just died down. Another detail: yesterday, there was a critical Windows 10 update.
Just today, I start up the laptop. It takes a good 30 seconds to go from black to the starting screen, unnatural. Log in, flick my mouse around, and immediately notice the lag of the faded blue box that appears over a desktop icon when you hover over it. Open up a game, and it's running like a slideshow. I grab the latest NVIDIA graphics driver update, thinking that would be the fix, but it wasn't to be.
I have the dm_log_collector zip attached for reference.
I see Bitdefender..
Absolute basics:
Please run a check on your disk.
Download and run Hard disk sentinel (trial) and post a screenshot of its GUI.
Please post a screenshot of your task manager, organising any columns of interest high to low by clicking on the relevant column tab. Repeat for different columns if useful.
(Ideally when you notice problems)
Then do a clean boot (see Tutorial section or search if unsure how to do that)
Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts
and repeat the above.
Please also post a screenshot of your update history. In particular, is there anything of interest around the time you mention 'earlier this week'?
Well I have been playing it for about a week now and it runs smooth maxed out and 4x AA. Now all of a sudden it runs at like 3 FPs and even when I switch to low settings its 10 FPS. WTF is going on? I've tried rebooting and ending most of the big processes in task manager. Also it runs fine in single player as normal but multiplayer is totally messed up n laggy. I have current date drivers and Game Boost which helped to increase FPS a bit so could it be that? because it started the second time I used BFBC2 with gameboost on. I run it through Steam too. Please help this is annoying. Oh and if this is important when I start playing CPU usage jumps to 100%. I'm not sure if it did that before.
Hi, I hope this is the correct area to post this. Games are what trigger the problem, though I suspect it is a hardware issue so please let me know if I should repost it somewhere else.
Basically, yesterday I was playing Hearthstone and my computer suddenly went black (as if there was no battery and someone pulled the plug) and then restarted in a few seconds. I actually thought it was a brief power outage in my building (silly because my battery was in at the time).
Anyway it happened again a bit later when I tried to play World of Tanks, and I also tried Eve Online and Team Fortress 2, both caused the same issue, though after different amounts of time. Eve Online ran for a good 15-20 minutes before it happened. World of Tanks and TF2 make it happen within a matter of seconds of joining a game (garage/menu don't cause it). Hearthstone doesn't seem to make it happen every time, I've completed numerous games without issue but as I said the first time I saw this issue it was with Hearthstone. The only other game I've tried is Hammerfight which is a pretty low-intensity old thing, and it did not cause the crash. All these games are things I've played regularly for months and I haven't changed the graphics settings.
It's never happened while not playing a game. I can watch videos and surf the web and use non-game programs without issue, although I haven't tried anything super intense like video or model rendering.
Hi I have a serious problem and need some help. I have a Lenovo ideapad y560. It was working great until last days. It started to shut down suddenly while playing games like call of duty 5 or fifa 11. Interestingly, while the battery in and ac adapter is NOT plugged in there is no shutting down or power off, everyting is perfect. However, While I plugged in(whether the battery is removed or not), in any case, pc suddenly shuts down in 5 minutes. I have formatted my notebook but nothing has changed. I have not updated Bios, I do not know the version but it must be the first version. I tried to use it only with plugging with the adapter and removing the battery but it did not work as well. As I said, while the battery is in and ac adapter is Not plugged in, it works fine but when I plugged in it just shuts down suddenly in 5 or 7 minutes. The problem can be associated with the ac adapter, I do not know..Any ideas? Should I send the notebook to the Lenovo technical service?
Answer:Lenovo Y560 suddenly shuts down while playing games
you may need to clean the fan and/or try to update/reinstall graphic card drivers.also, please, check the bios version that you have:( press windows + r, type "msinfo32" then enter )as i know, the latest one is 71.
Recently my computer has started crashing on me. I have this sudden overheating problem. When im playing games, the thing just starts to burn. Here's my specsintel i7 2.2 ghznvidia gt 520m6 gb rami know that this isn't exactly the best gaming computer ever and that the gt 520 is a low end card, but it used to work just fine. It was hot before too but never shut itself down before. I could play my games for hours. Why did it start overheating  now? I did some research and most people seem to think the reason could be dust or something blocking the fan but i dont know how to check it on a laptop.
Answer:Laptop suddenly started to overheat. Never happened before for the same games
Is the activity of using the game the only time when the overheating occurs or is it present all the time now? Yes dust/dirt inside can cause the cooling ports to be restricted and reduce airflow.To get a better picture of what the actual temps are you should download/install/run this free program.http://download.cnet.com/SpeedFan/3000-2094_4-10067444.htmlIt would serve us better to have a comparison of gaming temps and computer just on and running the test results. So please provide both. Have you noticed any audible change in the fan sounds (increase or absence of sound)? To try and remove any internal debris you should open all available user access panels and using only canned compressed air endeavor to remove it. You can also apply the air via the cooling ports but caution there as you will be significantly increasing the fan rotation speed and that can cause a fan failure. If you have access to stop the fan rotation when applying the air that is desireable to prevent the possible fan damage. Also remove all power to the computer when doing the cleaning.report back with your findings/results.truenorth
Now I wouldn't be posting a gaming issue under the virus/malware threads but it was recommended by Macboatmaster, a Trusted Advisor. My issue was that games were suddenly running suddenly at 3-20 frames compared to my original 60+ frames. This started around 3 months ago and I've been battling it ever since. I don't know what's wrong. One day I was playing fable and then I exited. I was going to take out my wc3 CD out of the CD drive because I was going to play it on my other comp, but it wouldn't open. So I resetted the comp and then the CD drive opened. Next thing I know playing fable again, the computer all of a sudden resetted by itself. Now when playing any games, the computer would crash. Sometimes just clicking links and such would make my computer crash.
An error message sometimes pops up at the start of windows. The message s STOP 0x000000EATHREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER. It says that it's a graphics issue, but I installed the most recent drivers and it still doesn't work. The last resort says to replace my video card, but I'd like to hope that there's another way. When it crashes the screen turns black for a few seconds, then resets or instead of turning black, the colors and pictures of what's on my screen would just get all messed up. After turning off the autoreboot under system failure, all the screen does is stay black now. My video card is an ATI RADEON 9600
Note: I've had this video card for 2 years already.
I don't know why this is happening =\, but here's my minidumps if it helps.
Answer:Computer suddenly crashing/resetting when playing games.
Hello and welcome to Techspot.
All your minidumps crash at your video card drivers. They all have a bugcheck of EA.
0x000000EA: THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER
A device driver problem has caused the system to pause indefinitely (hang). Typically, this is caused by a display driver waiting for the video hardware to enter an idle state. This might indicate a hardware problem with the video adapter, or a faulty video driver.
As you can see. This is either a problem with your video card drivers, or with the card itself.
If your card is overclocked, reset it to the defaults.
Try uninstalling, and reinstalling the drivers. Maybe try a different version of the drivers.
Check your card for overheating. Make sure any fan on the card is running properly, and that the heatsink isn`t full of dust.
I've got a new laptop (Dell Inspiron 17r special edition) for 1 week now, and last night I've been playing Devil May Cry and I started noticing lag. Normally, I would play Devil May Cry and Resident Evil 6 on highest settings with google chrome and utorrent running in the background and it would not lag.
Does anyone have an idea what might have caused this?
Answer:My new laptop suddenly starts lagging when playing games.
It could be one or more of the following..
1) your system is overheating
2) Windows may be running maintenance in the background such as updates or defrag. This is most prevalent the first few days or so of starting windows and has many updates to catch up on.
3) spyware, malware, virus, etc... Get rid of the 30 day free trial AV and purchase a full version or use Free AV such as AVAST FREE.
I use AVAST FREE and malwarebytes antimalware and I have absolutely NO problems with such things.
There may be other programs that run scheduled tasks such as scans or updates, When I gamed I used to use GAMEBOOSTER, its a free program that temporarily shuts down all programs and services that are not necessary to run windows and stops automatic updates as well.
It is configurable to allow some preferred services that you dont want to stop, the best part is you can restart all those services and programs again with one click and without rebooting the computer.
Let us know what you find
Hi,
After the 10/9/2016 windows 10 update, some of my video games have become capped at 40 fps. Yesterday prior to the update, all games were running smoothly at high fps (I have a geforce 755m). Today, I tested it with League of Legends, CounterStrike Global Offensive, and TF2. League and CSGO both run at 40 fps, while tf2 doesn't have an fps cap. I tried restoring to the previous version of windows, but that didn't work. I tried reinstalling the games, but that didn't work either. VSync is already disabled, and i tried disabling HID compliant devices but that didn't work either. If anybody could help, or share a similar experience, that would be great, thanks!
I have a dell inspiron N4110 laptop with switch-able graphics cards (intel HD 3000 and radeon HD 6470m). I used to use the radeon HD 6470 graphics card for gaming, but recently I've gotten a huge drop in performance when using it, in which games like minecraft I used to get 60fps solid and now it's around 20fps. I've updated my drivers over 10 times already (for some reason driver update from official site never works) but still this problem persists. Could it be a problem with hardware?
So about a week or two ago my system ( Windows HP firebird 802 running windows 7 64 bit) was running fine. All of my games ran smoothly frame rate was normal and no troubles whatsoever. But one day seemingly overnight my computer suddenly became agonizingly slow. Normal funcitons worked such as internet and video buffering. Although every single game that I use would run at an extremely low frame rate. To the point that it is basically unplayable. This effected games even as low res as minecraft. To fix this sudden slowness issue I ran a full scan of Norton 360 to check my system and nothing was found. I did a similar full system scan in malwarebytes and found a couple of issues but none of which were alarming and all from recycle bin. After the removal of these two issues adn restart, the system was running just as slowly as before. So i finally decided it would be worth it to try a system restore to see if I could restore some of performance. The list of things in my system restore points consited of about 5 items all of which were updates except for the fartherst one away which was NOV 6. THe rest were on the same day and labeled as a windows update. I am unsure as to exactly what date these were. I chose to restor my system to the november 6 date. Upon doing this my system seemed to be cured. All things were suddenly running fine again. And had no problems whatsoever. But then after about a day, my system shut off and said it was configuring updates... These updates were ... Read more
Answer:Windows Framerate issue.(games/photoshop) Started suddenly.
HEY! Sounds frustrating. I would suggest slugging through all the updates. Updates can be corrupt but there normally hot fixed pretty quick and your issue could be addressed through these updates. I would also set my video card settings to default than run dxdiag.exe. witch you can do from the run menu or what ever it is on your OS. This is a direct X trouble shooter and will hopefully identify any issue with active x or software issue relating to video. Finally i would download sysinternals proccess explorer from sysinternals.com this is a tool which will give you way more imfo than task manager. Any oddities or rouge programs/crashes/ even malware can show up on your process explorer and can give you clues as to what to do next. Hope this helps.
Hi all. I am having issues with my NVIDIA GeForce GTX750. I discovered today that when I try to play a game, it's suddenly extremely slow and jerky. This issue has come a bit out of nowhere, as it was working fine when I last played a game (the same game) a couple of weeks ago.
The only unusual thing I've done recently with this desktop computer has been to move it interstate. That was about two weeks ago, and I haven't noticed any issues with any facet of the computer until today when I went to play at game on Steam for the first time since I moved.
Specs
Inter(R) Core(TM i7-4790) CPU @ 3.60GHz
16 GM RAM
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Windows 10 Home
Additional Notes
- I attempted to access the NVIDIA control panel but it won't let me, saying: "You are not currently using a display attached to a NVIDIA GPU"
- The GTX750 is still recognised by my device manager though
- My computer's not in power saver mode, which was my first thought
- My latest GeForce driver is up to date; is there any other drivers I should be chasing down?
I'm pretty hopeless tech wise so please bear with me and let me know if I haven't provided the correct/enough info. Thanks!
I have a Lenovo Yoga 710 11IKB 80V6, which has an i5, 8gb of RAM, and an SSD. This is NOT a WIFI issue. For months, this laptop was capable of running youtube videos properly, and running The Binding of Isaac ( a very non-demanding game, one which this laptop meets its requirements). Even simultaneously.. Now, when I go to Youtube, the home page is very slow. When I play a video, it is somewhat choppy, and sometimes stops loading completely. The same happens on Twitch dot com. It is very slow to load.  Oddly enough, if I play The Binding of Isaac, and it starts to get slow - sometimes it will become fast again (for a short time) if I quit the game, and restart it. Even Spotify starts up slowly. All other functions of this computer are fine. The task manager tells me it only runs at 15% CPU and around 40% RAM when I run the programs  listed above, simultaneously. And I have a lot of space left on my SSD. The battery/power settings are at High Performance. AND I frequently scan with my Webroot Anti Virus. I hardly download anything at all on this computer as well. Only word and excel documents for school. I shut off my computer daily as well. My drivers and Windows 10 is up to date.. What is wrong with my computer? Can this be replaced under the 1 year warranty? I loved this computer until this week.
Hello!
For the past 4 months i have had an issue with my computer suddenly restarting during certain video games, without any bluescreen or anything, so no dump logs either. The past year i have gradually replaced my MB, CPU, GPU, ram and HDD, so the only thing that is older than 6 months is my PSU, a Chieftec Smart Series 550W(which ive had since november 2010). I first only replaced my GPU, without this issue occuring once. I then upgraded my CPU, RAM and MB at the same time, and this is when the problem started. Whenever i tried to play CS-go on max settings the comp would just restart after 5-15 mins of playing. The ram that i had got was faulty, and i got it replaced, but the problem was not gone after that. This issue also occurs ocasionally when i play world of warcraft, it might happend once during 2 weeks. Now i recently also installed GTA5 and the issue also appears to occur here, after 25-45 minutes of playing. With cs-go i managed to get rid of the issue by simply tuning down the graphic settings a little bit. I havent tried this with GTA5, as i dont want to play it with any lower settings. It might be worth mentioning that i can run CS-GO and world of warcraft simontaniously without the issue occuring, i have at least done it for hours and its never happend yet.
I have turned off automatic shutdown on failure in advanced windows settings.
I don't know what caused this; the sounds(in my headset) suddenly stop then resume again. I'm sure that it isn't caused by lag or other internet related issues, I'm using the same headset after my computer has been replaced entirely and my past OS is WinXP. But my speaker works fine and doesn't encounter that problem, I also used that in my past WinXP pc.
Am I encountering some incompatibilities?
I've never had any problems with this computer, but this month I started getting BSODs, first while playing the Witcher 1, though I have no tech experience I tried to search on my own and using WhoCrashed found that apparently outdated Nvidia and Etron USB 3.0 drives were to blame, ok, all's well, I even finish the game, then a week or so later, when I'm already 30 hours in Witcher 2 already the Blue Screens come back, and this time I'm stumped, as neither WhoCrashed nor BlueScreenViewer seem to give me any hints.
Please notice only the two latest minidumps are from this second wave of problems, 012513-30186-01 being the latest, if you read all of this thank you in advance, I'm really up against the wall here and I'd appreciate any sort of help or guidance.
Hi all. I am having issues with my NVIDIA GeForce GTX750. I discovered today that when I try to play a game, it's suddenly extremely slow and jerky. This issue has come a bit out of nowhere, as it was working fine when I last played a game (the same game) a couple of weeks ago.
The only unusual thing I've done recently with this desktop computer has been to move it interstate. That was about two weeks ago, and I haven't noticed any issues with any facet of the computer until today when I went to play at game on Steam for the first time since I moved.
Specs
Inter(R) Core(TM i7-4790) CPU @ 3.60GHz
16 GM RAM
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Windows 10 Home
Additional Notes
- I attempted to access the NVIDIA control panel but it won't let me, saying: "You are not currently using a display attached to a NVIDIA GPU"
- The GTX750 is still recognised by my device manager though
- My computer's not in power saver mode, which was my first thought
- My latest GeForce driver is up to date; is there any other drivers I should be chasing down?
I'm pretty hopeless tech wise so please bear with me and let me know if I haven't provided the correct/enough info. Thanks!
Answer:Games jerky and sluggish - graphics card suddenly not recognised?
As you say that you moved the computer a long distance, I imagine that the monitor was disconnected.
The I7-4790 CPU has built-in graphics, so I suppose that your unnamed motherboard has graphics ports on the rear I/O panel.
I'd guess that the monitor was connected to one of those rather than to the nVidia card. That would seriously bugger the graphics performance.
If I'm mistaken, I apologize in advance.
The battery in my first gen S10 died after about 7 months. Fortunately, I was still well within my warranty so Lenovo held up their end and replaced it. However, after about 8 months that second battery too no longer holds a charge and my original warranty has since expired. Phone support reiterated as much and denied any help.  This leads me to ask, shouldn't the second battery carry with it a full one year warranty? How can Lenovo not stand by a battery that dies in less than a year? This seems like more than just bad luck and has me questioning whether I will purchase another Lenovo product in the future.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a custom built PC with custom built case that I bought from an enthusiast about 4 or 5 years ago. It boots on a 10000 RPM raptor drive and I store media on a 1 tb striped raid composed of two 500gb seagate drives. When I moved a year or so ago there was an issue that required me to replace the Mobo, CPU fan and RAM. I've got an i5 with a good mobo and enough ram, 800W power supply that's new and more than enough. Good airflow.
There are a ton of specs below, I don't like troubleshooting hardware on my main computer (like wrenching on a car that you need to get to work) so I'll get to the point.
A week or so ago I went to play Divinity: Original Sin, which had played the day before with no issues. Nearly immediately I started seeing graphical artifacts and within minutes the screen glitched out and locked, held for a bit, I saw the "graphics crash and just recovered" blip while I was hitting cntl alt etc locked up and had to hard cold boot.
This was repeated. I tried a different game (new one I got on sale through Steam, both are through Steam which might but probably won't matter) and it started glitching and locked within seconds.
I should note that neither of these games are in any way graphically intensive. Anyway, I immediately assumed that my old Geforce 8800GT is finally demanding to be upgraded. I immediately suspected the video card.
Troubleshooting I realized this: My CPU and GPU temps were not noticeably high (I tested ... Read more
Answer:Graphical glitches while watching youtube or playing games only, started suddenly
What is the make and model of the PSU? Saying its 800W isn't enough, there is quite a difference between low and high end units of the same, advertised wattage. Also, bare in mind that all PSUs degrade with age, so its output will reduce over time. The rate of degredation will depend on the quality of the unit and the amount of load that is put no it.
The 8800GT is an old card to say the least (released in Summer 2007), however they were very capable in their time. If you are gaming then you could definately benefit from an upgrade, do consider your PSU quality, age and capability if you go down this route though.
Your symptoms sound fairly typical of a GPU problem or possibly power. I would possibly lean more towards a failing GPU based on you saying you get artifacts during Youtube videos which are not GPU intensive.
You say your temps are OK, what are you using to check? Can you check voltages with that also?
I've noticed for some time that my relatively new ~1 year Lenovo Flex 4 yoga, which has switchable graphics, has been running slower.  For instance, VLC has been unable to run certain movies, and running gameshow to record my powerpoint talks now leads to freezing and inability to save movies.  I finally found some free time to try a very basic 3D game (broforce, the overworld, 2 seconds into the game), and then my computer instantly slowed and shut itself off.  I downloaded the Heaven Benchmark 4.0 and the same issue occured, it barely rendered graphics and then froze.  I have all of the latest drivers and updates installed via a clean install.   Put simply, my computer is now completely unable to perform the most basic tasks that seem to be gpu related without slowing to a crawl and shutting itself off.  This includes very old games, new games, benchmarks, and even python rendering medium to large images.   Please please advise some tests I can do to see if this is a software issue.  I work a very very very hard job and this computer is my lifeline, and I need it not to have this issue.
Answer:Lenovo Flex 4 - 1470 suddenly can't run basic games, graphics benchmark, shuts itself off
I see that the AMD driver is indeed being used for broforce and for the horizon test, and that the GPU usage shoots to 100% and the gpu gets to over 100C instantly (within 5 seconds).   Hardware or software issue, thoughts?
I usually like to leave my computer on overnight. So I go offline, disable my wireless, and put on a video playlist in full screen to help me sleep. Anyway, today I woke up and saw the Windows Media Player no longer full screen, and the wireless switch was actually turned on. This is strange because I know I turned wireless off and I frequently check my system with Malwarebytes.
What could this be? Did someone snoop in my computer? Thanks in advance for the support.
Hello, and thank you for reading this.
As of just today, for some weird reason, my computer has just started to hiccup and freeze out of nowhere, and it's more prominent with any program that uses the internet (i.e. Firefox, Steam, etc), but it freezes up the entire computer along with the program.
This is especially aggravating as just yesterday, my computer was working absolutely fine with no hitches or sudden slow downs, but by today, it just starts to act this way, despite me doing anything to the computer at the time.  I have also ran a complete virus scan twice to no avail, and I tried using System Restore, only for it to fail.
I'm currently running under Windows Vista Home Premium x64. I've attached a HijackThis Log, if anyone can read that.
 HijackThis Log.txt   13.05KB
  2 downloads
I would hope that this doesn't turn out to be a hardware issue, so if this is something of a software issue, I would hope I could fix this, as I really need my computer as it has important school files and such.
Answer:Computer suddenly slows down suddenly and sporadically for minutes
Hi Twistervtx and welcome to BC.Sorry for the delay in response to your thread.HijackThis doesn't enumerate 64bit systems very well, but i can see some problems in the report.P2P Warning Please note that as long as you're using any form of Peer-to-Peer networking ( Frostwire, Ares, uTorrent etc.) and downloading files from non-documented sources, you can expect infestations of malware to occur.Once upon a time, P2P file sharing was fairly safe. That is no longer true.P2P programmes form a direct conduit onto your computer, their security measures are easily circumvented, and Malware writers are increasingly exploiting them to spread their wares onto your computer. Further to that, if your P2P programme is not configured correctly you may be sharing more files than you realise. There have been cases where people's Passwords, Address Books and other personal, private, and financial details have been exposed to the file sharing network by a badly configured programme.Many of the programmes come bundled with other unwanted programmes, but even the ones free of any bundled software are not safe to use.When you use them you are downloading software from an unknown source directly onto your computer, bypassing your Firewall and Anti-Virus software. Hardly surprising then that many of these Downloads are being targeted to carry infections.Having a P2P program running at startup is even more dangerous!You may decide to continue P2P sharing, but keep in mind that this practice may be t... Hi dunkinrick. Welcome to TSG. What browser version are you running? If Internet Explorer, you can give this a try: Open up IE, on the Toolbar up top click on on View>Text Size> and make sure your size is set to medium or whatever size you want to use to view webpages. If you don't have IE or this does not solve your problem, let us know and we'll go from there.
Question: down for months
This computer got a virus several months ago. It redirects the browser and doesn't allow me to do a lot of things, so I got frustrated back then and stuck it in the closet. I fired it up this morning, deleted a bunch of programs, and decided to give it another try. Here's the DDS Log:
Answer:down for months
I know, being patient is one of the rules, so I apologize in advance. Maybe the title I chose, "down for months" gives the impression that I'm not too interested in resolving this issue - I don't know. I am very interested in getting help with this. I realize this is free voluntary help, and I appreciate that. I noticed that I've had 28 or 29 views, but no one has replied. I'm honestly not trying to seem impatient. Just curious that's all. I have no idea what's wrong with this computer, or how to read that DDS log. My concern is that, since there have been 29 views, I'm assuming those who do know how to read that log have looked at it and decided not to get involved, for whatever reason. If someone who reads the log and doesn't want to help could just leave me a reply saying, "You're screwed - your computer is now an anchor" that would be very much appreciated also.
Thanks again and sorry if I seem impatient. I'm not . . . much
Site looks great... But, when you put in OT at work and have a new born at home it's hard to visit your favorite forum.... I had a quicky for the group to help solve - a 3 parter.
1st part - create a user form to display xml data - what is the vba code to display an xml node in a user form text box.
2nd part - create a macro that when run captures the hilighted words in the current PPT slide then displays it in the VBA userform textbox.
3rd part - on the same userform create a button and code that when clicked will add the text from the "selected text" field then add it to the XML doc.
thanks in advance for the input,
Ok I have a small medical transcription company, we were recently forced to move our servers from where they were housed and setup our own, I was scared and leary of this but we went with QWEST, as the local cable company for the area we housed our servers didnt have static ips, QWEST does.
Our setup consists of a DVI server, an FTP server, an email server, and 2 computers used as dns controllers, along with our Sonicwall firewall.
So we set everything up, call up our name registar to point to the new IPs etc, everything was fine about 24 hours later as everything was working well, most everyone was reset back up except for 3 transcriptionists.
Well these 3 people cannot connect period, they cannot ping (times out) we did trace routes, stops at my reserved gateway, and doesnt go through to the IP.
Through troubleshooting we have found one common factor, all 3 that cannot connect/ping etc have Comcast cable for an isp and all 3 have ips starting with a 24, so they all have 24.x.x.x ips etc.
I should also note that I also have Comcast for an isp but my IP starts with a 66 and I can connect fine.
I called Comcast and was originally told it was previous internet abuse issue, yet the tech support at Comcast is of the basic level, I try to explain the issue to them and they want me to reboot the modem and computer, try using ftp program, etc. the issue isnt connectivity to the internet, its to my servers, like I mentioned earlier they cannot ping or trace route or... Question: 6 Months Later...
Ok, so here's on my ongoing struggle...
Bought a bunch of new supplies back in february: Asus A8N-SLI Premium Mobo, AMD 3800 x2 CPU, 2 GB Corsair PC3200, Nvidia XFX 6800 XT, 480 W Aurora Power Supply, WD 74G Raptor SATA, and such....
Installing Windows XP, everything goes fine through the formatting, and the non graphical setup. Once it gets to the graphical setup...It's lags on the 39 Min remaining screen...and sits there with no progress for about a minute, before turning off my machine automatically. When i took it to a repair center...they had no issues installing it. Peculiar. This morning, I got a system error, and had to reinstall windows. Same issues I was having earlier with the turn offs. I'm wondering if it could be the power supply or APC unit. It's an old 300W apc, and might not be able to handle the power. I've tried a new vid card, had the mobo RMA'd, New ram, the works....yet nothing.
Any suggestions? (Not paying another $175 to have a repair center install windows :X)
Thanks in Advance.
Got an Aspire E1-522-5659 in late October  2013. Here it is June of 2015 and my notebook is dead. For weeks it has been giving the USB Unrecognized error with -nothing- in a port. The  2 of the 3 ports stopped working. Then they all stopped working. Blue screen when turning on saying there was usb error and it needed to restart for a week. Tried everything I could find online to fix it. Now? Won't even turn on. Sits at Acer screen doing nothing. Tech guy tells me it is the motherboard. In a less than 2 year old machine?! Horrible waste of money on what should have been a good product. Should have done more research I guess.
My friend was having a problem with her pc in uni and when she came home I offered to fix it. The problem was that There was nothing on the screen at boot up (CPU fan hard disk and CD-rom were fine). So I decided to change the motherboard, and was also forced to change the CPU and becasue it was an old socket 7 board.This solved the problem everything was working fine. She returned to uni last weekend and the problem has returned, nothing on the screen. Any ideas, PSU maybe? Thanks in advance, David.
Answer:Two motherboards in two months
It may be, especially if the monitor is also plugged into rear of PSU. If it is, then try a separate power lead for the monitor. j.
**WARNING**Unfortunately one or more of the infections I have identified are Backdoor Trojans, IRCBots or other Malware capable of stealing very important information. You need to stop using all Internet Banking sites, change passwords to all sites with sensitive information from a clean computer and phone your bank to inform them that you may be a victim of identify theft. More often than not, we advise users that a full reinstallation of their Operating System is the only way to ensure that their computer will ever be 100% clean again.
Unfortunately I have found what is known as the ZeroAccess rootkit on your system. It is an especially nasty infection that can take quite some time to clean as well as may have damaged your system files itself. As a warning, during the cleaning (if you choose to do so) you may lose internet access with this computer and in the end we may need to reinstall the operating system anyway depending on the extent of the infection.
If you would like to continue with the cleaning, please continue with the following instructions and I will be more than happy to help. ... Read more
One of my friends is having problems with monitors....
Apparently, the computer in question has went through 3 monitors and on its 4th one now, since May....
Anyone have any idea as to what would cause this?
All of the monitors haven't been brand new, but have not been used much either.
I instantly assumed a power issue... for the following reasons:
1.) He lives in very small area with very low quality power lines anyway
2.) The area we live in is known to have lots of power issues
3.) I took a look at the machine... when it first comes on, the power supply sounds like it buzzes, but then quits by the time it gets into windows..... this doesn't happen everytime, but sometimes.
The power supply is a 250 watt atx power supply.
Answer:3 Monitors in last 5-6 months
