'Dell Inspiron 15 7559 2 Amber Lights / 4 White Lights LED flashing

Question: 'Dell Inspiron 15 7559 2 Amber Lights / 4 White Lights LED flashing

Hi folks,
Having a problem with my Dell Inp 15 7559 I bought this a month ago and it was working fine last night. Went to boot it up this morning and noticed a pattern of LED flashes, 2 Amber first then a pause, then 4 White flashes.
Nothing comes up on screen can hear the laptop trying to boot at start but nothing..... Seems strange to happen out of the blue? This is happening on both powered and battery.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:flashing amber and green lights

My first guesses would be the CMOS memory is corrupted, or power supply. Do you remember hearing a single beep when it did work?

If you open the left side of the computer there should be a CMOS reset jumper next to the battery. With the PC turned off and unplugged, move the jumper to the reset position for about 10 seconds then move it back.

Also, have you verified the monitor works with another computer?

If that doesn't work we can try other troubleshooting steps.

I have a pc I am trying to help a friend fix. It is a Dell
desktop xps 400 with windows xp installed. She at the start of this got
some error about the internal battery ( she does not know the exact error)
so after checking around she replaced the cmos batt. Now as soon as I
plug it in it gives an amber light flashing at the power button and on the
rj45 connection on the mother board. It will not start at all.
The power supply tests good with a tester. And I tried another power supply with no impact. The other light on the
mother board is green. The cmos battery is installed and good. However
this box acts the same with or with out the cmos battery installed
same blinking lights.
The documentation from Dells site would show that the blinking amber light means an
internal power supply problem. I have replaced the cmos batt. And
reset the jumpers and still have exactly the same issue. Any thoughts?

Answer:xps won't boot, flashing amber lights

Sounds as if you have a bad motherboard or a bad PSU. Even if your PSU tests good with a tester it maybe not perform under the actual load of a PC. Try a differnt PSU and if it still has the same problem then it's a faulty mobo.

Hi,

I have a Dell Optiplex 780 and when I went to power it up the other night it did not power up.  I'm getting a solid amber light for the power button and lights 2,3, and 4 are blinking above it.  Any idea what this means?

Answer:Dell OptiPlex - Solid amber light, lights 2,3,4 blinking

According to the 780 Service Manual page 13,
Solid Amber Power Light = Second state of the light at power up. Indicates the POWER_GOOD signal is active and it is probable that the power supply is fine. Look at the diagnostic lights for further information.
Page 15 shows that 2/3/4 = A possible USB failure has occurred. Disconnect and reconnect every USB device, then try to power on.

Does anyone know where to find a guide to the LED flashing codes for an Inspiron 11 3153?  On the Dell support website it appears different machines have different meanings to the flashing LED codes.  Mine is flashing 2 amber then 7 white.  Preboot diagnostics passed clean, as did website hosted diagnostics.
Thanks

Hi there,
I have a brand new (2 days old) Inspiron 15 7559. Today I went to turn it on, and it refused to power up. The backlit keyboard came on, and I noticed that the front LED would come on, then after awhile it would start blinking orange.
I've tried it without the battery, just on AC mains; and just on the battery and the result is the same.
I tried looking around for some information but haven't found much related to my issue. Any suggestions or easy fixes? Or is it something that needs to taken into Dell?
Thanks in advance!

Hello -
I hope Bev is still around as she has been so helpful to me in the past.  I have and 8400 that shut off while I was working.  I thought the power to the house went out...but it was just my computer.  Blinking amber light on the power button, no diagnostic lights in back.  Tried to start up, nothing.  Read posts here about it and tried removing CMOS for 10 minutes, removing PCI cards and disconnecting all power and connections from drives to MB (no change...still blinking light, nothing else), then did the jumping test from green to black (yes, I probably should have done that first...) and got nothing on that.  No fan, nothing.
Can I definitely say it is the PSU?  If so, is the PSU from a 2400 interchangeable with this one?  If it isn't, are there particular brands I should look for or stay away from when purchasing a new PSU?

Thanks so much!

Answer:Dell 8400 blinking amber light won't start, no diagnostic lights

Blinking Amber means Bad Power Supply.
This particular model needs tin snips to cut a hole in the back for a regular power supply.  If you buy the startech model it will fit without requiring case modification.
Or you can buy one from an OEM vendor.
The 400 Watt ATX12V 2.01 Dell PC Power Supply is compatible with standard ATX style versions of following: Dimension Series Models: 1100 / 2200 / 2300 / 2350 / 2400 / 4300 / 4400 / 4500 / 4550 / 4600 / 8200 / 8250 / 8300 / 8400 / B100 Optiplex Series Models: 170L / GX60 / GX150 / GX240 / GX260 / GX270 Power Edge Series Models: 400SC / 600SC Precision Workstation Series Model: Model 340 / 350 Smart Step Series Models: 100D / 150D

I bought this a couple of years ago from a local computer store. It's been very reliable and I run Ubuntu 16.04 Linux on it. This afternoon I had a power drop of a second or so and since then when trying to boot the issue in the subject happens. I can get to boot as usual by pressing the power supply test button which gives me a green light on the power supply and then pressing the power button will let it boot normally. I don't have any version of Windows installed so it's not possible to run any diagnostic unless there are some Linux based ones.
Thanks for any help

Answer:Dell Optiplex 780 MiniTower, power light flashes amber diagnostic lights 1 & 3 flash

Blinking Amber power: Initial state of light at power up. Indicates system has power, but the POWER_GOOD signal is not yet active. If the Hard Drive light is off, it is probable that the power supply needs to be replaced. If the Hard Drive light on, it is probable that an onboard regulator or VRM has failed. Look at the diagnostic lights for further information.
1+3:  Memory modules are detected, but a memory configuration or compatibility error has occurred.
You could try resetting BIOS to see if you can clear the error.

Reboot and press F2 to open BIOS setup
Copy down all current BIOS settings
Power off, unplug
Press/hold power button for ~15 sec
Open case and remove motherboard battery
Press/hold power button for ~30 sec
Reseat RAM modules in their slots
Reinstall battery- good time for new CR2032 coin cell, if this one is old
Close case and reboot

If that helps, go back into BIOS setup, and confirm that all settings match what you wrote down. Be sure to save any changes before exiting setup.

This is going to sound stupid/crazy/dumb/etc...but tonight, for the first time, I noticed a flashing white light on the front panel of my Dell XPS 8700...the light is next to the "Mini/MMC SD/RS/SDXC' slot...doesn't appear to have anything to do with putting an SD in. The light is sporadic, sometimes quickly flashing and then nothing..other times multiple flashes. My computer appears to be working fine.
I have searched all over the Dell site and can't find anything...I know on my laptop I have a flashing light next to the battery light..I have always assumed that is the processing light.
I feel like this something I should know; I just want to make sure that it is a normal thing.

Answer:What do the flashing lights mean on the front of the Dell XPS 8700?

Hi Troyj1972
Thanks for writing to us.
Do you see a cylindrical icon beside the light, it indicates the hard drive.
Which means there is a continuous access of data on the system which is indicated by the hard drive activity light. Even if you haven open any programs the HD activity will still blink as the windows is using few backend programs , drivers etc.
The system is working normal, nothing to worry about.
Regards

My DEll 780 Optiplex was working fine until last week when I notice that the computer will not boot, as the power button flashes and then the 1 and 3 lights flash simultaneously, the power button flashes again, then the 1 and 3  lights flash simultaneously, in a repetitive pattern.
Does anyone have any thoughts as to what the problem may be and what could correct the problem? Any assistance or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I have a Dell XPS 13 9360 laptop. Purchased almost a year. This is already the third time the laptop won't boot up and gives me an LED error code. Last two times I was able to run a self test and it fixed itself. This time it won't even run the self test when I press the Fn and Power buttons. Reboot it with pressing F2, no luck seeing the BIOS screen. Please help.
From reading this forum, seems like alot of XPS 13 users are having problem with their laptop. Should Dell has a fix or recall for this issue?

(I'm sorry for double postings) Case of NumbSkull syndrom. I hope I am posting in the right place. I recently bought a used Dell Latitude XT. The biggest issue is the service tag sticker was removed before I purchased it ( I didnt know this). When I try to boot up I get flashing lights at F4,F5, and the Cap Lock buttons. This will stay flashing with the fan shutting off after about 2 minutes. After the fan is off and I leave the unit plugged in and with the battery installed the lights will turn to solidly lit after about 2o-25 minutes. I can not access the Bios F2 or any other of the F buttons. This unit was orgianly sold with the Vista OS system. The seller installed Windows 7 Professional on it. I have tried unsuccessfully to get help from Dell. With out Service Tag Number they give me a line of *stuffing* that they cant help me without that number. I also asked if I had to replace the MOBO what would be the best to swap out. Again no Service Tag number no help.. Please I need a Computer Brainiacs help here. I am out $300.00 and really need to get this unit up and running. Thank you. Stuart

Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum and have had the below issue for about a week now.
I've been looking for solutions in this forum and online but nothing worked or matched the symptoms.
Symptoms are :
The computer when powered up does not start,
Screen remains black,
Touch sounds buttons mute and raise volume blink in unison,
Lower sound button remain on,
This is for a Dell Studio 1535 I have had for 7 years. Running windows 8 for 4/5 months now.
I have tried : A solution by Krypebud posted here 6 years ago : which was to download the firmware ISO I and reboot the computer. This did not work.
I have also checked that the screen does not work on a second monitor : it does not.
Additionally I have tried the LCD BIST test which works fine, no distortions, colours all seem fine.

Would anyone know needs to be done here ? (apart from buying a new laptop)
Please be simple in your explanations I have very little knowledge of computers, assume I have no idea about anything.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Greg

Hello guys
I'm having a problem with my Dell studio 1535 running Windows 7 64bit.
When I power on the system, the screen goes blank. Then the volume up and mute buttons keep flashing while the volume down button is on but doesn't flash.
I have connected it to an external monitor but I don't find any display in the beginning and after sometime a weird screen with an array of square blocks of different colours come up.
I have tried the LCD bist test and the results are grey blank red green blue white blank red green.
Also the Bluetooth lights up and goes off and then becomes steady.
I haven't tried opening the system.
Could anyone diagnose the issue?
Thank you

Hi, I had bought my laptop in late September of 2016 and am just outside of my warranty period.  I use this laptop for school work (involves some autocad and waveforms 2017 work).  Recently the display has started flashing black with it being more off than on.  This makes the laptop unusable for me as I now have to connect it to an external monitor to use it.  With the desktop extended or cloned the external monitor works fine through HDMI and the laptop screen flashes and pulses.  Some times the screen works fine for a minute and then will go back to flashing.  The first couple of times it happened was while in fullscreen mode watching youtube.  I would close chrome and it would start working normally.  This put me down a software path.  I have tried updating both the intel video drivers and the Nvidia drivers.  My current drivers are Nvidia: 22.21.13.8205 and Intel: 21.20.16.4627.  I recently also updated my BIOS drivers to 1.2.4 to try to solve this issue.  No adjustments I have made in software has made it better and it seems to be getting worse with time.  The screen on this one is the 4k touchscreen.  I mostly keep it in 1080p though due to software compatibility issues. Even with the screen flashing the touchscreen still functions normally and tracks at all corners.  I am hoping this is not a hardware issue as I will be extremely disappointed if that is the case.

Thanks,
Michael

Answer:Dell Inspiron 7559 Laptop - Display flashing

Just went into the preboot test screen to test the screen.  #1 for some reason it shows as 1024x768 on that screen.  The display works fine while on that screen, when it shows the horizontal and vertical colored bars, and while the screen is flashing the solid colors.  It messes up and flashes as soon as the box comes up asking if I saw the test successfully.  This strikes me as weird that the test is good until the confirmation box pops and then if freaks out.  Anyway just adding more data into the issue to try to help get this resolved.

Hello,
I'm facing the following issue with a Dell Precision 5510 laptop with latest bios 1.2.14 A13. It appeared suddenly, I just rebooted a working system.
The laptop does not boot anymore and the Dell logo is not shown, however, the diagnostic battery led blinks 2 times white and 2 times amber.
According to the error table that I found here http://www.dell.com/support/article/uk/en/ukdhs1/SLN295101/EN#2016_to_Present that means
System Board : BIOS, ROM Failure
and the suggested next steps are:

Flash BIOS to latest revision
If problem persists contact Tech Support for further troubleshooting
Did anyone had a similar experience?
How can I re-flash the BIOS from a non-booting machine?
I found some tricks for the Dell XPS 9350 (extracting HDR and ROM files from bios executable and plugging a USB drive) but they do not seem to apply to this laptop.
UPDATE
I found http://www.dell.com/support/article/uk/en/ukdhs1/SLN300716/en but I'm still unable to recover the computer. I keep getting the 3:3 blinking pattern, even after I put the latest BIOS (renamed to 'BIOS_IMG.rcv') into a newly formatted FAT32 USB stick (2 GB). I also tried with different USB sticks, and both USB ports.
Any help is really appreciated
Best regards,
alessioc

Hello everyone. I'm currently working on a friend's Dell Inspiron 17R-5720 running Windows 8. The LEDs on the front (Status, Loading, Battery, WiFi) are all off, even when battery is installed, and AC adapter is plugged in.

I've checked his AC Adapter with a multimeter, and it shows it's giving off the correct amount of power. I've also tried a working charger from another computer, and it's still not being recognized. I did a bit of troubleshooting before taking it apart, thinking it would be the laptop's DC Jack, so I went and replaced that, only to find it still is acting up. I even tried to take the battery out, and plug it in just with the AC Adapter, but no luck.

Now I did get it to power up once (with the battery installed) for a few seconds, with the message, "this battery is temporarily disabled" as shown in this thread. I powered it down, but it refuses to power back up again. I don't want to say it's a bad motherboard, but that's what I'm starting to believe it is. Has anyone else experienced this before?

Thanks!

Answer:dell inspiron 15r se Service tag D6X0FW1. No power no led lights.

It's an Inspiron 7520 with discrete video - any board for that model with that video will work.  That said, putting $250-300 into a board (plus labor) into a 4-year old system makes for a questionable economic choice -- you are probably better off putting that money toward a new system.

Hello,

I have one of the newer model Dell Inspirion laptops. How do I turn off the light that accompanies the power button and the charge light on the front. I'm able to turn off my backlit keyboard, but these two other lights are quite bright and annoying when I'm trying to play movies in a dark room.

Answer:Laptop lights (power/charging) - Dell Inspiron

Hi DELLUSER16486,
What is the exact system model?
The power led and the leds on front are also used as diagnostic indicators. If there is any hardware issue on the machine, these leds help isolate the source of the issue. Hence, there is no way to disable the leds from turning on, as they would be connected to a cable soldered to the motherboard.
Download the service manual / specifications for a better understanding of the machine - http://dell.to/1n3X2po - enter the service tag and download it from the Manual section.
Write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

So i have a dell inspiron 15 3521, about a year ago, it started turning on, but wouldn't charge. Then, the battery completely died and it wouldn't turn on. Also, when i plugged the charger in, the light on the charger unit turned on then off. I then proceeded to buy a new battery and charging unit. It turned on perfectly and worked well, but the battery wouldnt charge, and when the battery's charge was all out, it would start up, show the windows loading screen for 30-60 seconds and then mysteriously power off. (Same result with battery+charger in) When i tried turning it on with just the charger in, the front indicator lights would turn on for a few seconds, then turn back off. I tried getting rid of the static built up by pressing the power button down for 30 seconds, but no progress. I know that the outlet is working perfectly, the battery works well, just doesnt have a charge, and has been cleaned. I think the problem is either with the laptop not accepting power (for lack of better words) or the charger not producing enough power. All help is appreciated, and needed... Thank you! :)

I thought that the problem with the screen was a wire came loose or something of that nature so i took apart the screen and made sure everything was plugged in. I put it back together and put the battery back in and went to turn it on to see if the screen problem was resolved and it wouldn't boot or anything. I don't get any beeps, fans, or lights that turn on. HELP!?!?!?!

Answer:Dell Inspiron n5010 wont turn on, no beeps , no lights, nothing.

Hi Jamien606,
Do you see light on the adapter? You may drain the flea power and see if that makes a difference:

Disconnect all the external peripherals.
Unplug AC Adapter and also take off the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 10 to 15 seconds.
Connect the AC Adapter back and check if the system is working fine.

Keep me posted. Please reply for any further questions.

Hi, I'm new to the forums so I'm not sure if this is in the right section but on my old Dell Inspiron 8600 the battey led light keeps flashing orange 4 times followed by a green light. I've read that this is caused by a faulty battery cell. However, since this model is so old it would be a waste of money to buy a new battery. Is there a way to fix it so that this doesn't happen without buying a new battery or taking the battery out of the laptop? Is there a registry fix or what not that will sort out this problem or will I have to shove my battery in the fridge (an answer to someone else's post on another forum)? Thanks

Answer:Incessant 4 orange and 1 green blinking lights on Dell Inspiron 8600

do you use it with the battery portable - or always plugged in ?
does it work without the battery installed - some machines will and some wont

as you say may not be worth replacing - certainly not, if always plugged in

As you have no fans running this sounds like a power supply failure which could be internal.

Hello!I was curious if anyone had any suggestions regarding this issue and what may be done to correct it?
We have replaced the power supply, CMOSS, HDD & motherboard and we still only get the solid amber light and a black screen along with the 1-2-4 diagnostic lights.

Thank you!

My Optiplex 780
- will not post
- will not beep
- will not output any video

When I push the power button,
- Diagnostic lights 1 & 4 flash
- Power button is of solid amber

When I turn the computer off:
- if I press the Power Supply test button, it illuminates green
If I disconnect the power cable
- A tiny LED on the circuit board (next to AUX PWR label) stays amber for a minute or two.

Diagnostic lights 1 & 4 are not documented in the Dell manual. I have tried to disconnect all peripherals, all drives, all cards, even all RAM, still no POST no beep, no video: just the fan running, and diagnostic lights flashing.

Any hope for this computer?

Good Morning all,
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 (7559) Laptop.  When I went to go power on the laptop, the keyboard lights up, but nothing appears on screen.  I also noticed the "Battery Light" indicator on the laptop was flashing.  It would flash white four times and then flash orange two times.  In the beginning I thought my laptop had died so I went ahead and charged the laptop.  I was able to charge the laptop, so I'm thinking that the battery is still good.  I'm hoping someone out here on these forums can help me diagnose and resolve this issue before I contact tech support.  Any information you guys/gals can provide is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 and whenever I boot up the computer, either from sleep mode of from when it's off, I get a flashing white screen. The screen has vertical zig-zag lines on it that are spaced out and it just keeps flashing. I have to turn my computer on and off enough times for it to finally boot up properly.
I've had the computer for a little over a year it has an Intel graphics card. I tried to restore to an older system image, but I have no system images on my computer. Would resetting the computer help? If so, how do I preserve Microsoft Office on my computer?
This is a really frustrating and time consuming issue, and Dell has really *** customer support, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Question: Flashing Lights

So I might have an issue with my Y50 laptop, and I'm not sure what's going on. Recently I've noticed that I periodically will have flashing lights when I'm on my computer. The power button and power light will blink a white colour, while the battery light will blink an orange colour. These do this at full battery, half, AC power or not, etc. The laptop also runs and works perfectly fine, it just flashes randomly while I'm doing work. I know the indicator lights and show a few things, but they don't seem to match the issue I'm having. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

they all flash together for a few seconds at a time, intermittently.

I'm assuming that this happens without any other problems? What are you using for a keyboard? Any special "features" or software associated with the keyboard? Are you by any chance hitting any key or keys when this happens?

I was playing Sim City, with my power cord plugged in.  Suddenly, a window popped up very briefly that said my computer didn't have enough memory, and then the screen went black.  Then the power light and the red lights behind the keyboard started to flash periodically, like one flash-burst every five seconds.   I tried turning the power off, but everything continued flashing in the same way.  I tried unplugging the computer, and that had no effect.  I made sure the connections on the cord were okay, and they were normal (also, I remember that the icon showed it was charging while it was still on).  I tried taking the battery out and waiting 60 seconds and putting it back in, but that also had no effect.   What should I do?

So we got a new DSL/wireless router and I plugged it into the telephone jack and power outlet correctly.
However, there are certain lights that flash, and I don't know what they mean.

Power: Green. Obviously means it's turned on
WLAN: Yellow/orange. What is this?
DSL: Flashing green, what is this?
Internet: Light is off

Answer:Flashing lights on router ... What do they mean?

WLAN: Wireless Local Area Network
DSL: Digital Subscriber Line
Internet: the World Wide Web

Even if I felt like reading your manual to tell you what the colors and states mean I cannot because you haven't given a link to the User Guide nor even specified the router.

Greetings,
I recently installed a new OS onto a blank hard drive. The OS is WinXP Home (Service Pack 2). After I finished installing it, I went on to install Norton Antivirus 2002. The only devices plugged into the PC are the monitor, keyboard, mouse and Ethernet (Cable). Everything was working fine untill I turned off my computer and plugged in the rest of the devices (printer, modem, joystick, speakers). When I started up the computer, The Windows XP loading screen moved slow. When the computer finally made it to the Welcome screen, the keyboard lights (NumLock ScollLock CapsLock) blinked erratically and the muse would freeze from time to time. Before I screwed anything else up, I wanted to see if anyone knew what the problem is.

I beleive it may have to due with some of the device drivers for the cable modem and router not installed, but I had them connected when the computer was fine, I even connected to the internet with them.

Answer:Flashing Keyboard Lights

I believe you are headed in the correct direction. Check your device manager to confirm all devices are installed correctly. The joystick sounds suspect to me, everything else should be fine.

Hi there,
I have a Sager laptop (p3 900MHz) that doesnít want to boot.
When I turn the power on, a green light flashes a few times and then goes out.
Then 3 red lights start flashing. These lights donít have a symbol ( like HDD or Sleep)

The HDD does start to spin, but the CPU-fan doesnít. After a while the whole thing over heats and it turns it self off.
If I power the fan artificially , the red lights keep on flashing.

Anybody know what this means ?

Answer:No Boot : 3 red lights flashing

Hate to tell you this but it seams like your laptop just died. If the CPU fan is not running and the system tries to boot and you leave it on the CPU might be fried. I know it has an emergency shut down through the BIOS but that may not totally protect you from frying the CPU. Have you tried to plug it into A/C power and not use the battery? Could be a bad battery as well.

Just my thoughts.

Hi, recently when i go to switch my XP 700 printer on, after a few seconds of booting up all 6 lights, 3 each side of the display would flash and I had to switch it off. At first I thought it was a jam of some kind so i would pull out and push in trays and eventually after 3 or 4 attempts it would work. Last night however, no matter how many times i powered it off, pull out the power etc and removed and inserted trays it would nt come to life, just these lights flashing each side of the display, is this a counter reset issue of is there a proper jam of sorts?

1. Reseat the memory modules to ensure that your computer is successfully communicating with the memory.
2. Restart the computer.
3. If the problem still exists, remove all the memory modules and install one memory module in memory module connector 4.
4. Restart the computer.
The following message appears: Alert! Operating in Debug Mode. Please Populate Memory in Pairs for Normal Operation.

5. Press <F1> to boot to the operating system.
6. Run the Dell Diagnostics.
7. If the memory module passes, shut down the computer, remove the memory module, and repeat the process with the remaining memory modules until a memory error occurs during start-up or diagnostic testing.
If the first memory module tested is defective, repeat the process with the remaining modules to ensure the remaining modules are not defective.

8. When the defective memory module is identified, contact Dell for a replacement.
NOTE: If necessary, the computer can operate in debug mode until new memory modules are installed.Click to expand...

My concern on this is that you say the lights are blinking, and the documentation indicates a solid light for the light code. I would suggest reviewing the URL noted above. If you have difficulty using Dell's memory diagnostic, we would suggest Memtest, per this tutorial... http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic62524.html

I just thought I would pass this on, but have not experienced this problem myself. A lady on my forum had PC trouble last year and blamed her ISP. She changed services, but the same thing happened this year. After seeking technical help the prblem was cured. This is her posting. Whether it was coincidence or not I don't know but she swears the PC is OK when the lights are off!"If you have ADSL and you have Christmas lights that flash, you may end up with an intermittent ADSL connection. Therefore if you have any ADSL problems, the first thing to try is switching off your Christmas lights. The problems are generally linked to lights that flash, since these are more prone to generating RF interference that can affect ADSL. In theory CE marked light sets should be OK, but there is the chance of grey imports which may not actually meet all the European standards. To avoid problems, it is generally best if you keep wiring for your Christmas lights away from the telephone wiring, and avoid running the cables parallel to each other."

My laptop started having trouble with logging me on. It would often take really long and sometimes not log me in at all. After my most recent login, I put my laptop in sleep mode, like I usually do. I went to use my laptop a few hours later and it would not turn on. Before you say my battery is dead, I know my battery is not dead, it just came off the charger. When I try to power it on, the power button light flashes, one second on, one second off, and so do the keyboard lights, the screen backlight, and even the fan powers on in this interval. At first I couldn't get it to even power all the way down until I found some odd forum about some weird "code" with the power button, but when I turn it back on it just does it again. I've also tried removing the battery among other things. Does anyone know what is wrong and/or how to fix it? Thanks.

Dear all,

I have a lenovo U310 touch, about 5 months ago it was rained on. Fortunately though it was off, so after about 3 months of drying I tried to charge it, but after a couple of hours of waiting the only thing that happened were two flashing led lights (both the white and orange one). After I tried to turn it on, it started up a little, but immediatley turned off again. This process can be repeated after charging it for about an hour.

I was wondering what the flashing lights mean. It would be a great help to know which part of the laptop is broken or if it is just entirely broken. I was thinking about buying a new battery and checking if that might be the problem, but first I was just wondering if maybe somebody could shed some light on the situation.

I had a nice printer but when my computer was infected the printer driver CD was erased, so when I rebuilt the hardrive, and reinstalled all my stuff, the printer driver CD was blank. Trying to download the driver from the internet was unsuccessful, since the printer was so old!!!!!!! that they don't have the driver on line anymore (what a rip off!).

My daughter came home from college with a laptop and printer and offered to let us use the printer. The only cable it had was a USB cable. I thought that was the problem at first, since the Plug and Play wanted a regular printer cable. But I think (I am not sure) that the Plug and Play is recognizing the USB cable, but when the wizard is almost finished, it offers to print a test page. Each time an error message comes up saying that I should check the printer connections and try again. The printer lights start flashing.

The printer has three lights, a green power light and two red lights. Those two red lights start flashing, as if some foreign object is stuck inside or paper is jammed. I have checked it a million times and can find no obstruction. Any ideas what to do next.

This is a PC with Windows XP and the new printer is an Epson Stylus C84

Any help would be appreciated. My son could sure use a printer for his schoolwork!

Thanks
Cynthia

Question: White leD lights

Fully charged my laptop as I was using it and then switched it all off to go to bed including the charger. There are still two very small white led lights blinking (think just one now) what is this? Something to do with battery? Or heat?

Answer:White leD lights

It sounds like when you turned off your computer off for the night that you actually put it to sleep instead of totally shutting it down.  When a laptop is in sleep mode the power button will blink to let you know that it is standing by.

Try turning off the computer again, but look at the available options and choose Shut Down and then see if the light still blinks.

Hi, i had my thinkpad charged 100%, took it to the library for some study sessions and after 10-15 minutes the screen just shut off. then when i tried to turn it on, the lights for battery AND charging plug flashes on and off, battery is orange charging is green.  I have tried removing the battery and reinserting, tried no battery with charger and battery with charger, and still same result, the laptop does not boot up at all.  Is the mobo bricked? is it salvedgable? can i sell it for just some money?

Answer:x61 flashing lights, possibly bricked? help!

Hi,

Today, for no discernable reason, the power LEDs on my Dell Inspiron 600m laptop (right-front, underneath main display, four small lights) began flashing red. Generally, they only do this when the battery is about to run out, but it now seems to occur at all times no matter how charged the battery is or whether the machine is even running on battery power at all. The only time it seems to stop is when I actually take the battery out of the machine (running on AC power).

What is the computer trying to tell me? The battery seems to work alright, although it appears to be the culprit in some sense. Could it be something else wrong with the power system? Am I endangering the computer at all by continuing to use it despite these flashing red lights?

Any thoughts or suggestions concerning the above would be greatly appreciated by this relatively clueless computer user.

Thanks,

Sam

Hi - I'm new to these forums and looking for some help. I have experience with desktop computers but this is only my second notebook computer and I don't know about it very well.

I have a Compal E80 custom laptop; 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo, 2Gig DDR RAM, GeForce Go 256mb, WinXP Pro gaming notebook. It's been working fine for the last six months but recently there's been a problem with the power - I was just looking for some advice before paying to have it looked at...

When turned on, plugged into the AC:
- Turns on perfectly, green light for fully charged battery. When trying to do anything (music, movies, games, etc) the battery light turns off for a second, then all the lights start blinking (main power, AC, battery). The charger light then flashes between red and off.

When I pull out the power cable the machine runs perfectly from battery.

When turned off, plugged into the AC:
- The battery charges perfectly with no problems, no interruptions.

Plugged into the AC with no battery:
- Runs fine for a few minutes then turns off without warning.

I currently run without my second monitor or external hard disk (to reduce power consumption) but the problem still occurs. Can anyone suggest what may be a problem here? I thought it was the power adapter at first but the fact that the battery charges when the machine is turned off leads me to believe otherwise....

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Gareth

hello!  My Pavilion dv7 screen has gone black.  There are 2 lights flashing - one next to caps lock and the other between the end and page up keys on the upper right corner.  I've read the previous posts about doing a hard reset which I have performed with no change.  I've also hooked up an external monitor but am stil unable to see anything.  Unfortunately, my farm's  books are on this laptop and I need to bill out.  Any additional suggestions? thank you! Stacey

I just replaced my battery on my Acer C710 Chromebook. The power light and operating light are still flashing. The power light sometimes stops lighting up. I could really use some help with this. I know that I have two spots on my power cord that became bare in a couple of spots taped them up thought that would solve it all.
