Support unreachable, YOGA 500 battery issues

Question: Support unreachable, YOGA 500 battery issues

Dear Lenovo Support, I posted my issue with my YOGA 500 a few days ago (see following), and I was suggested to contact the technical support. However, I could not reach anybody when I call these two numbers (Netherlands: 0204990153, 09006546540) this Friday afternoon. Neither could I find the email address to send a request. I have read that the service is normal today during the holiday periods. I am traveling soon, and I would like to get this problem solved as soon as possible. Could you help? Thank you! ---Simple question but very troublesome. I cannot charge the laptop when the power is on, while the charging functions normally when the power is off. When the laptop is on, I could see the battery sign on next to the bettery indicator on the screen, but the amount just stays stagnant. Please help me with this issue. Thank you! ---

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am consistantly getting less than 5 hours on my yoga 920 even though the reivews and sales marketing state 15 (or 10 for uhd). I have taken a number of steps to reduce power consumption: Shut off cortana, set to power saver plan, and low brightness setting. I have been using the system only lightly for web browsing and reading gmail. Is _anybody_ getting decent battery life from their yoga? If so please provide advice. I spoke lenovo technical support that they stated that 3-5 hours is expected - not the 10-15 advertised. I feel that I have been sold a bill of goods by their advertising and reviewers. From the chat" JOE LAW: what battery life should I expect for my yoga 920 JOE LAW: is it the 2-3 hours you first stated Shaine: 3-5 hours is the normal battery life for your unit. Shaine: And all the depends on how the computer being used.Shaine: I understand that and I would feel the same way, that's why you may consult our Sales Team to check what they can do about you concern, Joe.

Hi all,   I just purchased a new yoga 2 11 and my battery only lasts around an hour from a full charge. I am in balanced mode. This can not be normal right. I did transfer 11gb from sd to hard drive. I am not sure if that would matter.

so I've seen others post about this and now must admit I'm having the same issues.  Even in sleep mode, the battery often drains. And the batttery gauge is not accurate.  Put laptop to sleep last night with about 3 hours of batttery. Turned on this morning and still showed the same. Was cruising the internet and Yoga Pro just shut down  -- no warning, nothing..... Plugged it in only to discover the battery was completely drained. I had no apps opened when I put Yoga Pro to sleep so why the battery drain?  And why did it show 3 hours and then just shut down, no warning, nothing?   is there a way to correct these issues? No reason for battery to drain in sleep mode and then to shut off without even a warnign when showing 3 horus of battery life is kind of insane for a brand new laptop. Hope there's a way to correct things.  Thanks.

Answer:Issues with battery on Yoga Pro 3

To Update: I just fully charged my battery and turned on Yoga Pro.  It showed fully charged. I had 2 hours of battery with the Balanced Power Plan. I am losing one percent about every 2 or 3 minutes.  somethign is really wrong with the battery life on my new Yoga Pro 3  -- both battery life and I think the battery time gauge. I have never gotten more than 3 hours and  all I do is browse the internet, send emails, etc. No movies, not even any musici. This is cray unacceptable when I was expctingd 6 + hours of battery life. Please someone tell me I can correct this. Thank you

Hello everyone,I bought a Lenovo Yoga 2 11 laptop around 2 months ago. I noticed shortly after buying it that my battery life was going down very rapidly. I confirmed it was the case by running a few battery reports over time. Here's the latest report:DESIGN CAPACITY34,040 mWhFULL CHARGE CAPACITY12,830 mWh You can see how it has simply been losing all its capacity in a very accelerated fashion since I bought it (having even started with a considerably smaller amount than the design capacity):PERIODFULL CHARGE CAPACITYDESIGN CAPACITY2014-10-29 - 2014-11-0530,038 mWh34,040 mWh2014-11-05 - 2014-11-1228,324 mWh34,040 mWh2014-11-12 - 2014-11-1922,788 mWh34,040 mWh2014-11-19 - 2014-11-2623,432 mWh34,040 mWh2014-11-26 - 2014-12-0323,301 mWh34,040 mWh2014-12-03 - 2014-12-1021,589 mWh34,040 mWh2014-12-10 - 2014-12-1722,623 mWh34,040 mWh2014-12-1820,040 mWh34,040 mWh2014-12-1921,775 mWh34,040 mWh2014-12-2022,223 mWh34,040 mWh2014-12-2120,945 mWh34,040 mWh2014-12-2216,572 mWh34,040 mWh2014-12-2319,073 mWh34,040 mWh2014-12-2418,233 mWh34,040 mWh2014-12-2515,087 mWh34,040 mWh2014-12-2615,665 mWh34,040 mWh I'm very disappointed since I bought the laptop very recently, and only use the computer lightly for my university studies (browsing the web, reading books, etc.) I even used Conservation Mode provided by the Energy Manager that comes installed with the PC (basically sets up battery limit at 60% in order to protect battery life) before these problems emerged. I have been using my Lenovo Yoga 710 15" for a little over a month now with no issues.  However about a week ago I noticed a significant drop in my batteries performance from 7+ hours of usage time to less than 3 hours of usage time.  Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? What is the best way to resolve a a faulty battery for a pc that is still under lenovo's warranty? Note* I never leave the computer plugged in after a full charge and only charge the pc once the battery is below 10%.  I ran a diagnostic check and it confirmed the significant drop in usage time as well.

Hello, I recently purchased a Yoga 2 11 for my mother for Christmas, running Windows 8.1.  I myself have a Lenovo P500 laptop.  On the Yoga, putting the computer into sleep or hibernate will drain the battery by 50% in 24 hours.  On my P500, I have frequently been able to leave it in sleep mode for 4-5 days with barely 20% battery drain.  I'm wondering if this is a battery issue, or is there some setting I'm missing that's causing it to drain so much in a low-power state.  Thanks.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 2 11 battery issues

So I've been researching this problem online and it seems like it is a VERY common problem among the Lenovo Yoga 2 models.  Lots of people saying that even while in hibernate the battery will drain by at least 30% in 24 hours.  This is not supposed to happen.  I have also not found a single solution to this. Very disappointed.  I may have to end up returning it for something else.

Last September 2016 I bought a new Lenovo Yoga 3 PRO, I was quite happy with the battery life and the overall quality of the product. Now, 6~7 months later I still quite happy with screen, audio, materials... but not with my battery life. I give this computer use as home main driver for coding and web browsing, with some photo editing with Adobe Lightroom from time to time, nothing intensive that might heat up the computer on excess. I also try to give the computer "healthy" battery cicles, not leaving 0% battery for long periods neither leaving 100% battery plugged all the time. However, when today my battery seemed not to charge and have been experience shorter and shorter battery life over the last months, I was shocked when I saw on HWMonitor that my total battery capacity droped from 44.000 mWh to 14350 mWh. I could not believe it. Check here: That is too much battery loss for such a short period using my computer! Any idea of what I can do to fix this? I have just been unlucky and got a lemon with this computer? Should I send it back to seller?

I am having some problems with the battery on my Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13.  I have searched the forum to find a mountain of topics with problems similar but not quite the same.  I have also tried a lot of the suggestions to resolve the issue but none have worked so I guess i have to start my own thread. My Lenovo has been working fine (well has fine as could be expected with these machines) up until last week.   I had been using the machine in work without issue and put it into the car (fully charged) to take home.   When i went to use it again a couple of days ago I plugged in the charger as normal and turned it on, only to find it completely dead.   The power machine didnt turn on and the power button didnt illuminate.   My initial feeling was that i may have accidently turned the machine on while in the car and this had drained the battery.   I also thought that perhaps the power supply was faulty so I bought a new one. When i tried the new power supply it was the same result as the original, (not turning on and no illumination on the power button).    I went back to the original power supply, this time there was a fan noise (although the machine did not turn on), and the battery indicator flashed repeatedly orange (which i believe means the battery is below 5% and needs charging.   So i left the oringal power supply plugged in overnight to charge.   Next morning the battery indicator was still flashing repeate... I recently purchased a Inspiron 5759 laptop from Amazon, from Dell, and since purchase, the battery intermittently cuts out, for no seemingly no apparent reason.
I've tried to get help from tech support 10 plus times, but neither the  Service Tag or Service Code will register so the door to help is locked.  I've checked back in 48 hours, as directed by the system, but still, nada.  I've called Tech Support, and the Inspiron department places me on hold when they can't track the number and this hold amounts turns into being hung up on.
Now my battery does not work whatsoever and power management says it cannot communicate with the battery.
If anyone can help, I would very much appreciate it.  This is an otherwise perfectly fine laptop, but I'm at my wits end with the battery and the lack of help

Answer:New Inspiron I7 5759 Battery Issues But Numbers won't register so I can't get tech support

Your best bet is to contact Amazon and return the system for replacement (assuming it was purchased direct from Amazon, and not from an "Affiliate" storefront on Amazon).  If the latter is how the system was purchased, contact the seller directly to arrange a replacement.
Unless the seller can sort out the issues with the service tag, you won't have a warranty to use.

Hi, I purchased my Lenovo Yoga 710 about 3 weeks ago. My battery life is not very good at all. Right now, it is 81% charged, and says it only has about 3.5 hours left. What gives? Shouldn't I have at least six hours? Also, my fans are running constantly, and my brightness keys don't seem to adjust the brightness.

Lenovo X1 Yoga 2015 i5 6200u 8gb ram Windows 10 home premium 52wh battery QHD Display Okay, just some background. I am a proud 5 year owner of a Thinkpad X220, which I still use.I purchased a X1 Carbon (non-yoga) 2015 model, I sent it back because it was having fuzzy text and lid closing issues. (The FHD screen is horrible) see my other post on that. Lenovo sent me a new X1, I sent it back for same reason. I got my X1 Yoga today. It looks, feels amazing, I wished it worked too, that'd be nice. I kind of wish they would test their laptops before selling them lol. Choose what closing the lid does... "sleep"... I close the lid, it sleeps. Open the lid, it beeps loudly and display does not resume, but keyboard lights on. I have to manually hold power button to shut down laptop. I turn it back on and it goes back to my windows I had open. I wish Lenovo would sell a Thinkpad X1 that when you close the laptop, it would sleep, and when you open the laptop it would resume, that would be awesome! Also, I had it in tablet mode, I put it in laptop mode, and the display remained in tablet mode. I had to go put it back in tablet mode and then back into laptop mode for it to show me the laptop display mode. #ridiculous Battery Life: It so variable. Sometimes it says I have 3 hours of battery on a 90% charge, sometimes it says I have 9 hours left... I'm just browsing the web, no videos. Lenovo, if you're reading this, please don't a... Hi. I'm not sure where exactly to post about the yoga line, but I guess I'll try here.  Basically I got this comp about 5 days ago and I like it, but its not completely what I want.   The fan noise is  bit jarring and theres also a high frequency whine which is pretty irritating.  I would like to return it and get something different.  I would be willing to accept a lenovo credit to buy a different lenovo product because my main desire is simply to get a full refund without the 15% restocking fee.  Is this possible?   The issues:  The advertised battery life is somewhere around 6 hours but I have found that even turning the brightness all the way down only gives about 3.5 hours.  Is this reason enough to demand a refund?  or can they still screw me with the 15% restocking fee?  Beyond that the frequency whine which I guess comes from the cpu and a coil or something is pretty bad.  I decided I would rather wait and get a yoga pro 2 (or a different lenovo product) which hopefully won't have this issue which is why I would be open to a lenovo credit instead of a full refund.   Thanks for any ideas, love this comp, I just wish it functioned as... advertised?  cheers

Answer:Yoga 11s issues. Battery Life + Return policy? Full refund without 15% restocking fee?

Fan noise is very normal, certainly for their small size. The smaller the fan, the more noise they make. I have built several computers before. 80mm fans made considerable more noise compared to 120mm at the same rotating speed. Have you checked for a BIOS update? It removed most of the fan noise for me.Depends on how long you own the Yoga 11S. I say take 1-2 hours down from advertised battery life. That would be your maximum. Note that the advertised battery life is saying: "up to # hours!".I think your battery life is fine.

I just received my Yoga 3 Pro-1370 Laptop from the Lenova Repair Center - this was the 2nd service request for the battery issue.  The laptop battery still does not charge when the AC adapter is plugged into an electrical outlet.  Sometimes the charging indicator light will indicate that it is charging - but charges 10 - 15 seconds and goes off.  Confirmed the battery is not charging even though the light is not on just to be sure the issue is not with the power indicator light.  At this point the Lenova Repair Center has had possession of my laptop longer than I have in 2017.  Not sure where to turn to, Call Center/Support seems to be encountering problems and can't log a Service Call?   Seriously, I was asked to schedule a call for them to call me when their systems are up?  Laptop is under warranty, but I'm beginning to think they are trying to run out the clock. I'm typing fast - as Battery Life is below 10%   Any and all suggestions are welcomed.Regards.

Hello!I am trying to find out if DisplayPort is supported on the following two models: - Yoga 710-14IKB (80V4003LMX)- Yoga 900S-12ISK (80ML000RMX) I need to drive UHD TVs (4K at 60fps) and various high resolution displays using DisplayPort (HDMI 1.4 only supports 4K at low refresh rates).  It seems to be difficult find out looking through the documentation provided by Lenovo. When Battery Status Indicator turns orange (20% battery) the Yoga 13 becomes very slow The trackpad stops working, and the laptop in desktop mode becomes unusable. The volume also is turned down to 0, the volume status window is always present in the top left of the screen and even if I use the keyboard buttons to increase the volume, the laptop immediately reduces the volume again to 0 within about a second. Interestingly using the Windows Metro screen and the touch screen, most of the Windows Apps are okay, but not all touchscreen functions work, for example swiping the screen to get the charms menu does not work. I have tried disabling the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal framework in the BIOS and uninstalling the Intel Dynamic framework drivers but it has made no difference. Any ideas ?In its current state the laptop may as well turn itself off at 20% battery  ThanksKevin

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 500: battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery

Hi, Denkendale ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Do this test -

1) Switch off the laptop.
2) Disconnect power supply. Keep the battery connected.
3) Try to Turn ON the laptop.

If the laptop does not turn ON, the battery is faulty.

Also, Try turning the laptop off, removing the battery, unplug the AC adapter, press and hold the power button for thirty seconds, install the battery back into the laptop but don't connect the power cable and try to start the laptop on battery power.

Update us how it goes.

I've had my Yoga 13 for a few years now, but it wasn't until last fall or so that I started to get 'Unauthorized Battery' warnings upon start-up from the Energy Management program. This is a bit ludicrous to me, as the Yoga 13's design makes it impossible to switch out the battery on your own (ie. it's the original battery, and not an unauthorized replacement). As a result, my laptop stops charging, which is a concern for me as I am a university student who doesn't always have a power outlet handy. I understand this is a serious bug or issue. The first time (and subsequent times) it happened, I found a similar thread here on the community board which advised numerous fixes which have worked for me in the past whenever my laptop starts displaying the unauthorized battery warnings. This time, however, nothing I do seems to work and I'm getting ridiculously frustrated. The things I have tried thus far (that previously worked, but this time around, did not):- Uninstalling and reinstalling Lenovo's Energy Management program - NOTE: Usually uninstalling this program removes the 'block' on battery charging, but this time around it doesn't seem to be working. - Fiddling around with the Energy Management program's power settings - Uninstalling Notebook FanControl (which I used to control the random fan accelerations that the Yoga 13 is prone to)- Doing a hard boot by holding the power button - Booting from BIOSThe last time this happened, I had the unit sent i... I have brand new lenovo Yoga 15. From the first start up I am getting this error message: Battery Not Detected I don't know what is going on but this is a new machine right? Anyway, the laptop is connected 24/7 to AC, yesterday I needed to unplug it and after 5 minutes the system turned off. After turning it on I got this error screened: Critical low-battery error The thing is after I turned it on for the second time everything was great. The battery said that it's 100% charged. But after another 5 minutes or something the battery turned off again - WTH? Does the laptop's battery is broken and I need to give it for the guarantee?

Hi TomHG Which is the full model number of your machine? What I would try to do first is try to update the BIOS of your computer and the power related drivers just in case. But the message that is showing the problem on the BIOS (before Windows boot) it is not nice. I would try tp update the drivers with the following tools- Windows Update- Lenovo System Update- Install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion.- Check on Lenovo Support site the driver for your model. If after updating the BIOS and power drivers of your computer the problem remains there, I will recommend to contact the Lenovo Support Center. If you are still under warranty Lenovo should fix it by replacing any part. Regards

I updated to 8.1 and noticed that the orange battery light now blinks all the time (about 1 per second) and the battery only charges 50 - 60% range.  I have Lenovo Energy Management enabled and set to maximize battery life (power plan=balanced).  Tried running the Battery Gauge Reset - it ran for 10+ hours before I had to cancel it to use the laptop... how long does it take to run?? Any fixes? Anyone roll back to Windows 8.0 with any success?

Hello Folks,After having received a new Yoga 3 14 yesterday I noticed that there were a lot of screen ghosting issues, especially when using high contrast apps or leaving apps on the screen. Even when the system is booting the afterimages are there and persistent, and continue to build on top of each other. I have already rolled back and updated the graphics card, updated the BIOs, installed the firmware update to fix ghost touches etc. but the afterimages of chrome and the taskbar and explorer windows remain, only leaving the computer off for several hours solves but I don't believe that to be a pragmatic solution. If anyone else has had this issue or has fixed it please comment!

My Yoga 3 Pro-1370 does not detect its own battery. At the lower right of the screen, it appears the battery sign empty and crossed by a diagonal line. When I click on it the message "The battery is not used" appears.  OneKey Optimizer says: "No battery is present". Please see two images attached. Got the laptop and the battery inspected by a professional but he couldn't fix the problem. He himself updated the Bios, Windows, cleaned the inside and the fan of the computer but the problem is still there. Please provide me with a solution ASAP.

My Yoga 3 pro is still a nightmare and so far is unusable given onging battery problems. However I digress. The thing wouldn't charge past 72% and took 2 days to get to that from 51%. So yet again I searched the net hoping to find something new and I noted yet another updated battery guage realeased only a few days ago. I also noted that someone had suggested deleting the windows battery drivers in Device Manager after disconnecting the battery which I figured couldn't hurt so went ahead. Once I reconnected the battery, plugged it in and waited for it to download the battery drivers, I noted it didn't install the ACPI component. Now lo and behold, I have no battery guage at all. In fact it says "The battery is not used", but of course it is. I then tried the latest battery guage driver but no improvement. Can anyone help in this age old problem? Cheers

My laptop is Yoga 500.

What is the optimistic value for "Low battery level" and Critical battery level"?

What points shall I consider in setting these two battery levels?

Is it safe to run the "Battery calibration" in this laptop, some posts mentioned running the Battery calibration meshed up the system.

Hello.  I would be grateful if someone can help me with solving the following battery issue.
My XPS13 9343 (with Windows 10, 2015 model) recently stopped charging when connected.  I have conducted BIOS test, stress test, system test, battery test recommended on Dell forum, but could not find any issues.
Then ran device manager and checked & updated drivers, tested for virus, scanned the system, but could not detect any issues.
Lights on AC adopter is on (static) , and the front light under the touch pad turn on white briefly when connected then turn off immediately when plugged in (when disconnected, orange light comes on).
It seems charging is disabled...I might have touched keys without realizing (I checked whether there were hot key to enable/disable charging, but could not find one).
Since it is an ultrabook, and the battery has no issues, I have not opened the back to take out the battery.
I brew into the connecting hole, but it did not solve the issue.
Please help!

Answer:XPS 9343 (2015) battery not charging - no issues with battery or AC adopter when tested

If the system doesn't detect the AC adapter correctly, the battery won't charge.  That's the first thing to check - F2 at powerup.  If the adapter shows unknown, either it, the DC jack, or the mainboard is bad.  Replace parts in that order.
If the system DOES correctly identify the AC adapter, but the battery won't charge, odds are (particularly given the amber light), the battery is the faulty part.

Greetings. As a fix to my battery just dying from 99% to 0% in 15 minutes all of a sudden (!), I follwed the advice on another thread to run One Key Optimzer and use the Battery Conservation mode. This apparently preserves battery life through only charging the battery to about 60%. Does this mean if I want my battery to live I have to sacrifice 40% day-to-day battery life? (He who would gain his battery life must also lose his battery life-amen?)I also tried the solution of uninstalling ACPI (?) battery settings in Device Manager and rebooting. A-What do I dooo? To paraphrase The Smiths, does the Yoga 3 rule me, or do I rule the Yoga 3? I don't know....

Hey there,
Yes you read it correctly: I have just received mine, which I purchased because of battery life and overheating and fan noise issues on the Dell XPS 13 i7 7th gen. The 8th gen was supposed to have solved all the issues the previous version was plagued with...
Well... I unboxed it, loaded all of my softwares, installed all the WIndows updates, Dell drivers, you name it. Charged it and started using it. When I unplugged the power cord, first estimate was 4hrs on the Windows battery indicator. Then I installed BatteryBar to have a more reliable estimator. Same.
Later on, I discovered a very strong and very loud fan. Unsurprisingly, the underneath was burning hot.
Got the support team on the phone, whilst I was talking with them, the fan kicked in and I even could give them a glimpse of how loud that was over the phone.
Has any of the lucky owners of the XPS 13 i7 8th gen come across similar issues?
Sometimes, I am just baffled by the world there is between the promise and the reality....

Answer:XPS 13 8th gen i7 16GB RAM QHD+ Battery Issues 4hrs battery life tops

A brand new system may have an unusually high level of background tasks running simultaneously, such as Windows and other applications checking for and downloading updates, Windows monitoring your usage to optimize technologies such as PreFetch for your usage patterns, etc.  You might want to conduct a battery test after things have settled in a bit more.  The QHD+ display takes 2-3 hours off of the expected battery life, but you should still get 7-8 hours under normal use.  Then again, if you're heavy on WiFi and max out display brightness, you'll get less than that.  The fact that the fans are kicking on also suggests there's an unusually high level of background activity running, so check Task Manager to see if you can find out what's responsible for that.

My Lenovo Yoga 900 has a cracked screen. I called Lenovo and the rep that I talked to told me they don't do repairs and told me to take it back to Best Buy or to another computer repair tech to have it repaired.   Best Buy said they couldn't replace the glass and neither could the tech that I took it to. This seems absurd.  Why would anyone pay over $1200 dollars for a laptop that can't be repaired if needed?  I'm at a loss, I don't know what to do and I want it fixed.  Does anyone have any suggestions? I just find it very hard to believe that Lenovo won't repair their own merchandise.

Answer:Can't get support for Lenovo 900 yoga

Who did you call?  If you have a nearby Lenovo Premier dealer near you, you might carry it in.  It certainly can be replaced.  (It might be expensive.) The manual indicates that the entire assembly (hinges, lid, etc.) are replaced as a unit, but I'm sure it can be taken apart, but I I have never done so I cannot describe it.  I have done similar models and they took less than 1/2 hour.  My guess is that it simply snaps together, but as I said, I haven't done it so I don't really know.

Answer:What is the max capacity of SSD that Yoga 13 can support?

Honestly, the manual was written at a time where 512mb was the max available on the market. Given that the 1TB was only just announced in December, I doubt the manual was updated.

As with regular SATA, I don't believe there are controller limitations until 3TB.

The new generation of fast SD cards called USH-II has a second row of contacts.  While much faster download speeds are possible, the hardware and bus must support this standard.  While UHS-I cards can be used, UHS-II cards are potentially much slower in UHS-I slots. Does the Yoga 3 - or any Lenovo laptop - support UHS-II SD cards at this time? If they don't the workaround is to use a USB 3.0 card reader with a UHS-II slot.  The card readers run around $40.  Older card readeer are usually UHS-I.

hi~i wanna know that if yoga 11 can support broadband or not~

Answer:can yoga 11 support broadband???

hi xiangtan,

When you mean broadband, are you referring to high speed internet access via an ethernet cable? If this is what you mean then yes, the Yoga 11 supports this (you will need to get a Windows RT certified USB to Ethernet adapter as it has an in-box driver for it).

According to this microsoft article, the Cisco-Linksys USB300M has a driver that's compatible for the Windows RT. To install the driver, check this website.

I need help comparing the Yoga 2 Pro and Yoga 13, but I don't mean to compare them by their specs.  Yes, I know Yoga 2 Pro has a better processor, is thinner and lighter, and has a QHD screen, but that's not what I'm looking for. What I want to discuss is not what you find in a typical review.  I want to discuss the issues that people seem to be having with these laptops.   I want to see what issues both of these laptops share and what they don't.  I currently have a Yoga 13, and I'm debating whether I should return it and get a Yoga 2 Pro, but if it has more issues than my Yoga 13, then I don't want to do it. Issues that I know of so far: Yoga 2 Pro  (I've never had this laptop so I'm only going off of what people have been complaining about) Yellow Color Issue (looks musturd / greenish)  (But is fixable, to a point)Wifi Dropping Flickering screen?(Are there more?  I don't know much about the Yoga 2 Pro) Yoga 13 (I've owned this for about 10 days) Weak Wifi  (An issue I have only sometimes)Loud Fan Noise / Fan always on  (Manageable with Notebook Fan Control program)Problems with streaming videos in anything other than laptop mode (My issue)Plugged in but not charging (another issue I ran into)Hinge becoming loose (Hasn't happened to me yet)(What else is there?)  So that's all I know of so far.  What other issues have people run into with these two laptops.  Which laptop's iss... So, I bought this top of the line Latitude 12 M7 with 4K screen, and that was a biggest mistake for all...
The battery life is like 2h 2o min, and that horrible keyboard with a stand behind the screen is not user friendly. I can't even use it on my lap, and thank you for some "horrible" re-engineering design, the Latitude 12 doesn't have a keyboard like the 11 or 13 has! So no built in battery to power the tablet, and no regular laptop style closing lid. Why??? Why someone design something backwards ?
By any chance the Latitude 11 keyboard with the built in battery would fit with the 12? Or in the near future they will realize this model is way overpriced, and the battery life is a joke ?
I am at the point to sell this, forget about I7 and 4K and just buy a Latitude 13 6 gen M5 with a working battery life. Any of you have a suggestion, what I should do? Is any other model recommendation with size of 11-13 , with a decent battery life?

Hello, I purchased two new Yoga 12 notebooks and have tried to wipe and install my own volume license version of Windows 8.1. I downloaded the drivers from the support site and installed all but am getting problems with the xHCI USB 3.0 controller. The driver always shows as failed state.  When I try to go and download the xHCI driver as a standalone driver it shows as only available for Windows 7. When I try to install it I always get the error "This product does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software". At this point I do not have USB 3.0 and my digitizer pen does not work when touching the screen. My other notebook does work, but I have not installed my copy of Windows 8.1 on it. The driver must be somewhere, can someone point me in the right direction? I already tried to use system update but all it found was some bios update and wifi drivers. Hi, I bought my Lenovo Yoga 11e from Amazon. The specs of this laptop is 2016 model, 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM, Windows 10 64bit. I recently ran the Samsung Magician software and also Crystaldisk info software. It showed that the SSD is only running at 1.5Gbps though it is capable of SATA 2. The reason I did this benchmark on the laptop was because I frequently heard some noise from the speaker when steaming a youtube video. There seems to be some bottleneck with disk IO or maybe CPU. Memory is definitely sufficient for 4GB. Anyone has information how to upgrade to the SATA 2 interface would be greatly appreciated. I checked device manager that I am running the standard ACHI interface which I suppose comes with windows 10. Thank you!

Now I got the Yoga2Pro and I ran into a problem after installing fresh Win8.1 Enterprise: I need the Lenovo Yoga Software Suite (Transitions, Motion Control, etc.) for the computer to work properly, and it can't be found anywhere so I called.  I talked to two different people - both expertise didn't exceed the information available on the marketing materials on Lenovo.com, they both told me the software I am asking doesn't exist ... had I stayed on the line longer, I would probably be questioned whether the laptop I have in front of me actually exists too. I understand it's a brand new system and apparently Idea systems are no Thinkpads ... but who do I turn too regarding support, I don't think I am asking for much

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga Optional PEN Support

Hi RikaashYou should provide more information about your Yoga (Type Number from the back). If your Yoga has a digitizer input in addition to the touch input on the screen then some of the Wacom pens would work (I'm using a Wacom Bamboo Feel with my Yoga S240 20CD). But Lenovo sells some of its Yoga types in two versions, with digitizer and without. When your Yoga was delivered without a pen included, it's probably not "pen enabled". Neither a Lenovo pen nor a Wacom would work then.Regards,Stephan

I've just spent the past 2 hours on the phone with Lenovo support, that has no idea what they're doing. I spent several hours researching and I can't figure this out. I bought 2x Samsung S27C750 monitors and the micro-hdmi to HDMI adapter for my Yoga 2 Pro. Step 1: I connect micro-hdmi into Yoga 2 Pro and the HDMI end into 1st Monitor.Step 2: Add additional HDMI cord from 1st monitor into second.this is where I'm stuck I get a view on 1st monitor, but second can't display anything. Lenovo said it's because I only have 1 HDMI out port on the Yoga. Which I agree with, but there is no way to customize these laptops to add a 2nd or a third. I watched YouTube videos of people doing multi-monitor support, so I know it's possible just don't know how. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro - Multi Monitor Support

As far as I know, you cannot daisy chain HDMI.  You need a second output from the computer, probably a USB to HDMI adapter plugged into a USB port on the computer, or an entire docking station (with a video port) plugged into a USB port on the computer. Or, if you can get the mythical WiDi to work, that would be an option, as well.

Dear Lenovo, I am writting to complain about your equipment as well as the technical support team you have in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (GBM Dominicana; GBM-DR). I bought a brand new Yoga 2 Pro laptop from a friend that brought it from the U.S. last year, in its box and seals intact, full warranty, for around 900 USD. After having it for 9 months (and roughly 6 of use), and several visits to GBM-DR, this faulty equiment is useless!! Here is the recap: 1. First, a "tag" was making contact with the CPU fan. GBM-DR ordered a new fan and change it. 2. Then, the WIFI connection kept dropping. After checking, GBM-DR decided to replace the wifi card, which took like two months. As you can imagine, I spent whole month using the computer for non-internet purposes. 3. Afterwards, I took it again to GBM-DR because this time the machine did not turned on. I demanded for a new equipment since this one was giving me so much trouble, but the people at GBM-DR told me that ordering a replacement for this machine was not possible. The motherboard was damaged and the repairment would take 2 months. I was left 2 1/2 months without computer, and very unsatisfied. 4. When they returned it, the keyboard lights weren't turning on, so I had to come back. They fixed that right away. 5. Lastly, on last december I brought the computer because the screen started to flicker and black out for no reason. The people at GBM-DR told me that my warranty was over and I ... Read more

Answer:Complaint about Yoga 2 Pro, & Technical Support in...

The same thing happened to me. I haven't even used the computer for the last 3 months because "support" just kept saying they couldn't help me because it was a software problem - and there was NOTHING on my computer but what it came with. Still under warranty and I'm out of the USA, I too feel cheated. I told the service to look up the problem on this site because it's not only me. She said, it's only me. Nice! I can send this back to America. It's taken about 30 hours of trying to fix it myself, now I just avoid it. I know this is a problem with the configuration of LENOVO and Windows 10 because the same things happened when I updated my Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 from Windows 8 to 10. I'm overwhelmed and unsatisfied to say the least.

I am interested in the Yoga 3 14 and can not find details regarding support for WiDi/Miracast.  All that I can find in the specifications for the machine describing the wifi adapter is "Lenovo 802.11AC" Al

Answer:Yoga 3 14 WiDI/Miracast support?

hi Al,

Welcome to the Forums.

For Miracast to work, these requirements must be met:

PC with the following:

Supported Intel graphics
Supported Intel® Chipset
WiFi adapter that supports Miracast
Latest Intel® Graphics Driver installed

A display (e.g. TV) that supports Miracast or a TV paired with a TV adapter that supports Miracast.

For Intel Wireless Display, check this system requirements.

Seing that the Yoga 3-14 uses different hardware configuration, you will need to specifically ask a model that supports the above requirements.

Hello!I have just ordered a Yoga 900 and was wondering if it is possible to use the Microsoft Display dock, which came with my Lumia 950 phone, to output video-signal to an external monitor and use as a USB hub?I would love to test it out myself, but since the dock has to be powered, I'm somewhat afraid that it could potentially fry the computer. If anyone has any experienes around this, I would love to hear them :-)

Hey guys I would like to set up three monitors in my room and wanted to know if my Lenovo can handle it. I am in school studying programming, so I would be using it for development purposes, not gaming. I need some help to figure out if the laptop can do it, and what I need to buy to set it up. I have a monitor mount and monitors in mind, so the easy part is done. Seems like I will need a docking station. (??). Looks like this one meets my needshttps://www.amazon.com/Dell-Display-Docking-Station-D3100     OR this onehttps://www.amazon.com/Club3D-DisplayPort-HDMI-Multi-Display-CSV-5300H If I connect these to my laptop and 3 monitors, is that all I need to do? Thanks for any help

I get a dialog box when I connect the power adapter to my Yoga 2 Pro that is titled "Limited Power Support."  The rest of the dialog box says "he connected power adapter cannot supply enough power. Use of this power adapter may lower system performance." This is the adapter that came with my Yoga 2 Pro, and this has happened since I owned it.  Is this an issue with the power adapter or the Lenovo Energy Manager software?

Hello! I joined your forums in order to post this question: Does the Lenovo Yoga 700 2-in-1 w/ integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 support an external/dual monitor? I bought an LG Ultrawide monitor (model 29um58-p) to act as a second monitor- but cannot get a steady image on the monitor.  Does this model of laptop even support a second monitor?  I plugged the monitor into a desktop tower as a control and the monitor displayed a clear steady picture instantly.  That dekstop had a Radeon card in it. Could it be an issue of resolution or refresh rate?  Does it have to do with Lenovo's special display drivers (to work with the convertible tablet feature)?   I tried downloading and installing the "windows 10" drivers for the monitor from LG's website but the installation kept "failing".   Any advice and assistance will be greatly appreciated.  The monitor is a black Friday purchase and I have to decide whether or not to return it before I travel. Thanks!FA

Hi, is this pen compatible with yoga 520? https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B00VES9FHG/ref=s9u_simh_gw_i4?ie=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00VES9FHG&pd_rd_r=T7... On the product page it is written that yoga 520 has the active pen support, so i think that the better thing to do is to buy Lenovo official active pen (?)Thanks

I'm interested in buying a Yoga 900, fact is I have nearly made up my mind. One issue is that I really need to use external displays, on the road for presenting, but this is easy. At home I want to hook it up to my KVM (requires VGA) and cabeled internet connection. For home use, I've been considering a USB-C adapter from Startech, the DKT30CHV: https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-USB-C-Multifunction-Adapter-Laptops/dp/B01EKARUUS/ref=sr_1_19?ie...What do you think, should I go with this or with a more standard USB 3.0 based port replicator? Will the above work? Anyone who tested? I have not had a USB-C equiped device yet, so I am a bit unsure. My alternative is something like the Startech USB3SDOCKHDV:https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Universal-Laptop-Docking-Station/dp/B00DNULJHW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF...The latter is more expensive, but I guess that is because the latter has "it's own" video adapter. What do you suggest? Which is the best / safest choise? Thanx/Karlsson

Does any of the 14" or 15" thinkpad yoga's support stylus? If so, could you tell me the exact model and exact stylus to get?

Answer:Does Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14/15" Support Stylus?

Hi

It may help you to know the exact model number of your Thinkpad Yoga and check the PSREF Books: http://psref.lenovo.com/Book

Some TP Yoga support it and some not.

On my case I have a TP Yoga 14 (full model number 20DM008UUS) and it works with the Thinkpad Pen Pro (4X80H34887).

Hi all, Recently bought a Yoga 500-14ISK (i5-6200U and NO Nvidia GPU). I have not yet updated to Windows 10 build 10586, so maybe that's the issue, but I wanted to confirm: I'm using the 45W power brick that came with the laptop, but the Lenovo Settings app is giving an error saying "The AC Adapter has limited support, cannot support your computer fully and should be replaced as soon as possible". If I try a 120W brick from a ThinkPad W450 it says that the AC adapter is working normally. How is this possible since I'm using the specified adapter for the laptop? Thanks!

I'm very interested in the Yoga 2 Pro for my work as a developer.  Currently, I work with a Lenovo X220; at work, I dock it and work on two monitors. At home, I work directly on the X220. But working in Visual Studio 2012 on the X220 screen is not really ideal! I plan to switch to the Yoga 2 Pro, since it offers a better work at home experience. But I have not yet found out if it's also dockable/connectable to multiple monitors. We've looked at a Lenovo Carbon model that used a USB-docking device to connect a monitor, but the performance there was really bad (everything the external monitor displayed lagged behind).  I need to know if the Yoga 2 Pro can be docked decently (no display lag) to multiple (2 or more) monitors. Has anyone tried this yet?

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro - Multi-Monitor support? / Dock

I have a Yoga 11s, which of course is a different machine, but I would guess my experience should apply. I read terrible things about the Lenovo USB hub/dock, so I did a little research before buying my 11s. I found very good reviews on the Plugable UD-3900 USB3.0 dock, so I went ahead and ordered it when I ordered my Yoga. I have been extremely happy with it. It has HDMI and DVI out, Ethernet, audio out, and extra USB ports. All I do is plug in to the Yoga's USB3.0 port and my second monitor comes right up, and I have external keyboard, mouse, and ethernet. It is truly like using a docking station -- I don't have to monkey around with anything when I connect; my Yoga just instantly turns into a desktop machine, including switching to wired from wireless network. I set my Yoga in the "stand" position as an extended desktop. It really works and looks great. The only 'downside' -- if you can call it that --  is that you have to plug the power cable in as well, you can't power the Yoga through the USB. So technically you have to plug in 2 things, not just one USB -- no big deal. Also, I have not actually tried audio out through the dock, so I don't know if there are any issues there. Also, I have not connected a second external monitor, but I assume it's possible to use both HDMI and DVI at the same time. I don't know what performance would be like in that configuration. For me, video performance with one external monitor + Yoga is excellent -- it feels ... Read more

Hi, I recently bought a Yoga 910 in Portugal and since the unboxing I have noticied a strange clicky noise when gentley tapping the touchpad.I have read in other threads that this isn't normal and I would like to contact the support here in Portugal. Can anybody help me out on that matter? I have already contacted the phone support, but the call goes to the Spanish call center and they didn't realy help. Over a week later I was contacted by Visonic SA but I wasn't by the phone and they haven't replied. I really need the PC to work and I can't help to ship out the laptop and not have it for weeks. Does anybody know who I can contact in Portugal to discuss the issue and see what kind of support I can get? Regards

Last night my screen started flickering between brightness levels, then I noticed that my battery was practically dead even though it was plugged in. I also got the message "Adapter has limited support". I have two adapters so I tried the other one and got the same message, so obviously the adapter is not the problem. I can get it to charge sometimes, but other times I get the same message about the adapter. Is the port the likely problem and how can I fix it?
