Question: Computer Not Showing Display, BIOS Problem.

Hi Guys, i have HP Pavilion P6510Y computer, 2gb Ram, Quadro Fx 400 Graphics Card, From Past few days i was constantly getting BSODs. i was thinking that Ram is faulty so i checked it with third party software. Ram was fine. i checked all the hardware component and everything was fine. so i decided to update Bios. While updating the bios i lost power for 1-2 minutes and now my computer dont show anything on moniter screen. all the power functions are working fine, Fans, Processor, Ram, Lights everything is working fine but i cant get the display. i reseat all of its hardware components but still cant get display. i even tried to reset CMOS setting by shifting the jumpers but still got no luck. i cant go into bios setting, cant get into windows to run bios updater again. Please help me......is there anyway that i can copy the bios into a usb flash drive and then run the bios from it?

Preferred Solution: Computer Not Showing Display, BIOS Problem.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've plugged everything in, and i'm quite sure it's all been plugged in correctly.

On the motherboard is 3 little lights. Saying:

HDD LED

+5VB

The top 2 lights are red, and the bottom light is green. I'm guessing that is symbolising that i have a problem.

When i turn on the computer, my moniter stays on stand by. All the fan's and lights show up, even the LED's on the fans, but i get no action from my moniter.

shouldn't i see the bois information?

on to my dvd drive. i've plugged it in, with the 4 pin power bit, and an IDE cable which goes into my primary IDE slot.

I get power, but when i press the "eject" button nada happens. When i take OUT the ide cable, the disc tray does actually eject.

i've stuck in an old CD drive and it does the exact same. any reason why?

I got this PC off a friend for free. He said it was all working before hand and so on.

So I just stuck a 1TB SATA HD in my computer, and it's not showing up when I open up My Computer. I've re-started about half a dozen times. I went into the BIOS, and the BIOS sees it. I have very little exerpeience with SATA so maybe I'm just doing something stupid. FWIW, my main HD is on SATA 1 and the new HD is on SATA 3. PLZ HALP!! Thanks

Answer:New SATA HD not showing up in computer; showing up in BIOS

what's happening is the drive hasn't been formatted so it's not showing up in windows because there isn't really anything there. You have to go to disk management and format the drive.

I am hoping someone has found a solution to the following:- I have a W540 in a ultradock docking station with three external monitors and I have advanced mode on dock enabled to utilise the NVIDIA graphics however on boot the bios screen is not shown on any of the external monitors. As I have a bios password then as it does not display the prompt on the external monitors then I need to guess if it is asking for the password or not. It is a minor irritation especially if an error message or something stops the boot. From the following article I can solve the issue by using standard video mode but I wish to use the advanced mode. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/W540-BOOT-Screen-Display-on-external-mon... The following are my display settings in the bios:- Boot Display Device         [Display on dock]total graphics memory     [512MB]Video mode on Dock        [Advanced]Discrete GFX Perf Mode   [High Performance]Boot Time Extension        [Disabled]   - I have tried setting this to the maximum but no joy I have updated the firmware of the bios and the dock but to no avail - any suggestions on how to show the bios on the external monitors with advanced mode enabled?

I first had this problem about a week ago, it happened after I turned my computer off and then tried to reboot immediately, I was not getting any output on my monitor, I turned the computer off and it started working again 30 minutes later.
Fastforward to now I have the same problem however it doesnt see to be going away.

Answer:My computer is not showing a display

Leave it off and unplugged. Press and hold power button till it dischargers.
Try again, or before you go to bed or tomorrow.
When it boots, hopefully it will, run System Restore to a week ago or so, as a precaution.
(Press Windows key and R and type rstrui )

I just bought this tower from someone, HP Pavilion Windows Vista Home Premium OEMAct. It worked for an hour and a half. Then it said that it was shutting down to correct a problem. It never came back on. When I first got it I blew and vacuum so much black dust I never saw that thick before. I cleaned out both fans with blowing air and vacuum. It worked for 1 1/2 hours. He also had installed windows 10 on it. There is not many programs installed on it, he said he only used it to play games, and there are a few photos in the picture library. Answer:Computer suddenly stopped showing on display

Hello Would like to help but first what is the specific model of your PC? Dirty PC is not good to begin with. Upgrading from Windows Vista, amazed the upgrade worked, to Windows 10 is another snag in finding the problem. Suggest you try going back to Windows Vista and diagnose problem with factory operating system. Do you have HP recovery discs for Windows Vista? Maybe you can start there to find problem. Grzy

So for the past week or so I have had a problem with my computer that I have never encountered before, I looked on various sites to see if other people had this problem but I found no permanent solution. I was hoping maybe I could get some help here so here goes:

I turned on my computer one day to find that there was no display at all, I restarted the computer, the motherboard bios screen and the Windows 7 start-up screen displayed just fine. Once the Windows startup screen passed, the display was completely black and the blue light on the monitor turned orange. I had dealt with this before and figured maybe the power supply was bad (The whole computer is about 5 years old) so I tried restarting in safe mode.

To my surprise, the display worked fine in safe mode. I toyed around a bit in Safe Mode and then restarted and the display was working as normal. I left the computer for a few hours came back and the screen was once again dark. It seemed as soon as it went into screen saver/suspend mode it never came back. In order to get the screen working again, I had to restart in first safe mode, then regularly.

I thought it might be a problem with my video card (NVidia 8800 GT) so I proceeded to test it with a high end graphical game (The new Devil May Cry) and I was able to play for 30 minutes without any problems so I just stopped the game and decided to come here. I have no idea what the problem could be, as I figured my GPU had finally died but it seems to still work well.

Hi all,

I'm having a problem with a 3TB Western Digital Red drive.

It does not show up in My Computer, Disk Management or Device Manager or diskpart >> list volume.
Also a no show in the Western Digital Data LifeGuard Diagnostics tool and CrystalDiskInfo.

It does show up in BIOS (See screenshot) and also in the Intel Rapid Storage Technology tool (See screenshot)
In both places it is showing as 0GB though.

What I've tried:
Unplugged all other drives except the C Drive and the 3TB WD, same result as above.
Unplugged all other drives except the 3TB WD and launched the installation CD for both Windows 7 and XP to see if either would recognise it. Neither did.

I'm out of ideas (I did see a few things online I didn't try, like uninstall the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers from the Device Manager, since I don't really know what that means I didn't)

Hello everybody! I was wondering if anybody can help me with a small problem I have. When I go to Settings under Display Properties, it's showing that I have 2 monitors when I only have 1. I'm including a jpeg in case I'm not explaining it very well.

The first monitor is the one that I am using, the second doesn't exist, yet it says that it's the default monitor? This is also a fresh (within 3 days) install of windows XP, the only things installed have been drivers for the video card and a game. Under display adapters in device manager it says that I have 2 video cards, ATI Radeon 9600 PRO and ATI Radeon 9600 Pro - Secondary. I only have the 1 video card.

I also receive an error when I try to select the ATI catalyst control center from desktop properties, here's a screenshot:

Any idea what's causing these problems? I'm at a total loss here

Answer:Display properties problem, showing I have 2 monitors

Your first picture is showing that your video card is capable of handling two monitors but you are using only one. Does this not reflect reality?

I don't know anything about the Device Manager or missing file issues.

Afrer not using the computer for a week, my pc suddenly powers up by it's own each time I open the slot for the CPU on my extension meaning I don't have to press the power button on the CPU which is weird, and instead of hearing just one beep, my CPU makes 2 more beeps after the first one.

After that this weird BIOs would show up(as shown on the attachment) and when my computer finally starts up, it would suddenly flash duplicates of my home screen forcing me to restart the entire thing. Any solutions?

Answer:Startup question - computer showing me some kind of BIOs?

CMOS checksum error means the CMOS battery in your computer needs to be replaced.

It's a CR2032 and is about the size of a quarter. They usually coast around $2.

Power off the computer, disconnect the power cord then open the case and look for the battery.

This shows how to replace it on an Emachine. Yours may not be the same but should be similar:

I'll start by giving a bit of background, my computer wasn't retaining the time after powering off.
I changed the CMOS as that appeared to be the problem looking around the net.
I have 2 hard drives on my PC (win 7 op system asus P5-nd), after changing the battery, PC wouldn't boot coming up with the message "bootmgr missing" I then went into the bios on startup, set the PC to boot from DVD then did a repair of w7 which told me I had a problwm with boot (which I allready knew),managed to getthe PC booting fine from the primary drive.
So far so good, PC now up and running, but only one drive showing.Went into disc management,2nd drive notshowing, rebooted into setup, only one drive showing
The 2nd larger drive only has some video images on, which ideally I could do with accessing, first drive has opp system, program files etc.
Any suggestions, many thanks RG

Answer:2nd Hardrive not showing after boot problem follin bios battery replacement

I'd remove the second hard drive from the PC and put it in to a caddy. Boot up, then connect the second hard drive via usb so that you can take off all your documents. Make sure that all docs are available to use, not corrupted, before formatting the usb second drive. Reinstall the second drive physically to the desktop. See if Windows now sees it.

Hey friends yesterday i got a Hitachi Deskstar Hard disk (160 gb) from a friend.wen i conect it to my Desktop (ASus dg41 chipset m/b. 4GB DDR3 kingston Ram,Intel Dualcore original (3Ghz)Processor.And 450watts new smps power supply)IT show zero bytes in bios and not shown in windows explorer,I see it in Device manager, wit zero space.I reconnect this Hard disk to my friend desktop (Lenova desktop)(Actually he gives me the hard drive to use).In Lenova Desktop it shows the space in windows explorer. And works normally.I try to conect this hdd in several desktop systems bt same result that not showing in win explorer. Why this is not showing in other desktops(except lenova pc) ?Is there any way to get it works on any computers.Plz help me

Answer:Hitachi Hard disk showing 0 mb in bios & Not showing in windows explorer

QuoteIT show zero bytes in bios and not shown in windows explorer,I see it in Device manager, wit zero space. The Bios recognizing the drive is the lowest level of recognition. If not recognized at this level its usually a jumper setting, cable issue, or Bios needs to be flashed with a newer version. Is this hard drive an IDE (PATA) drive or a newer SATA drive for starters? If it is a IDE (PATA) drive it could be jumper set wrong, (Master(MA), Slave(SL), Cable Select(CS))If its a SATA drive I'd try a different SATA cable with it to rule that out.*I wouldnt jump into flashing your Bios with an update unless you find information supporting a known issue with the version you are running and hard drives. A bad flash can kill certain motherboards that dont have Bios protection that can revert back on wrong or failed flashes.

Normally this laptop has a monitor plugged into the HDMI port. One day during routine maintenance the laptop was unplugged from the HDMI port and ever since the display is not working. The entire desktop image is moved slightly down about a 1/4 of an inch and about an inch to the left leaving a 1 inch black unusable section of the display and moved the windows taskbar partially off the screen. I have tried re-installing the drivers - system restore. Nothing seems to work. Is this machien broken?

Answer:U310 Display not showing the entire desktop black section on right side of the display??

Hi Telecotek,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with display in your Lenovo U310 laptop.

As you have mentioned that there is a black section, try to change the resolution and check for the issue. If you are connecting the LCD monitor set the resolution according to the size of the screen.

The maximum resolution of the system is 1366*768, please check while connecting to the external monitor if this resolution is set.

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

Best regards,

I flashed a new AMI BIOS for my ASUS A7N8X-VM mainboard to cater for an upgrade from 512MB to 1GB of memory. I'm pretty positive I used the correct BIOS (for interest the filename was A7N8XVM109.zip, the executable BIOSPAT.exe) Now after the initial BIOS info screen I just get fuzzy lines on my monitor. I can get into CMOS setup in the normal way but cannot boot from a floppy - it doesn't get that far before the sceen goes fuzzy. I have seen some stuff on thew Web about 'VGA problems' being a known issue after BIOS update, but have no idea if that's what's happening in this case or how to solve the problem. Help!!!

It's been three+ years since I built a new comp... Serial ata, PCI-e, dual channel ram, and 24 pin mainboard connections were foreign.

Having everything(sic) connected, my new 'puter powers up, runs without complaint(left it on for five minutes or so, and manually shut it back off), but nothing comes to my moniter(ie: it stays orange/yellowish in sleep mode, instead of green for an active connection).
There are also no beep codes.

Specs:

Antec Smart Power 450w
Asus A8N5X
Athlon 64 3200+
1GB stick of G.Skill
Evga 7600GT

That's just what I'm trying to get it to bootup/display Post with.
I've also:

1x 1GB G.Skill stick
250g Western Digital
NEC DVD Burner

Which remain disconnected/unattached for the sake of my sanity.

Every fan(case, mobo, cpu, gpu) runs, the motherboard and front panel LEDs lightup fine. There is no restart/shutdown of the system at all.
The soft/hard resets work perfectly. CMOS is/has been also set to default.

Both of the moniters I've tried to hookup to the 7600 are Analog(Viewsonic CRT, Dell LCD), and the 7600 only has DVI outs. Thusly I've used the pack-in DVI - RGB connectors. If there's a problem with displaying the inital bios using those and not straight digital, I've not come across it on websearches.

The only other thing that I've read about was the 12v rail needing ample ampage(20+). My 450 Antec allows for 15a on +12V1 and 17a on +12V2.
With the card's fan... Read more

Answer:New computer build powers up/stays on, but no display/post/bios

Looks like you'll have a real nice system once you get it up and running!

Couple of questions:

1. Do you have both of the power connections to the motherboard? There should be two, the 24 pin and the 4pin.
2. Do you have the power connection going to your graphics card? Most newer cards (but not all) require a 4pin molex connection from the PSU directly to the card.
3. Did you hook up the case's speaker? It would have been one of those tiny annoying to connect wires (assuming your case has a speaker - they are very small and hard to find). If your case has a speaker, this is very useful. The beep codes may tell us what is wrong.
4. Did you use the riser pins into the case's screwholes (under your motherboard) before you installed the motherboard into your case? (some cases have the riser pins pre-installed for you, some don't).
5. What speed ram are you trying to use? Do you have a different make of ram you can test in there?

Also, take a look at the LED lights on the motherboard and see what color they are both before and after you hit the power button.

Hi Guys,  I'm the IT handiman at a local business. Things have been going okay, so they brought me a Yoga 2 Pro that they had abandoned because it's screen went weird so now it only shows colors.  So, when I turn on the computer, the display immediately starts cycling through colors. When I use an adapter to the micro HDMI, I can see the display on an external display. I can even change the display settings to essentially use the yoga as a computer tower log onto the computer like normal and enable RDP so I can get SOME use out of the machine as a server box, but that feels like a waste of a high performance machine. Video.  IDK what's wrong. If it was a graphics card or something, I would think that I wouldn't be able to use the external display. I'm not sure what's up or what to see about trying to order and replace.  Anyone have any idea what I should look at? I can make this laptop into the little print server we need, since it's not good for much else right now, but I'd rather get it back in service as a laptop and use a lower end machine for a simple print server.  Help me? Please?

Answer:Yoga 2 Display only showing colors. Seems to still work with external display.

I looks like a dead LCD display, or a dead ribbon cable to me, I had a similar issue with my C340, wasn't software related. You can try to contact Lenovo support, they may be able to repair it. http://support.lenovo.com

Yesterday morning, for no obvious reason, the display during POST and BIOS password was through the external VGA socket, NOT using the normal screen.

After WinXP starts it displays using the normal laptop screen and everything runs fine.

I cannot see where to amend a setting to display the BIOS POST normally on the inbuilt screen.

Acer say I need to send the PC to them for major repair. Can that be right?

Hi all
First time I've posted here. Nice to meet ya'll. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

I'm having an issue with my Compaq 5108US (AMD 1.3 Ghz, 80 GB, 512 MB RAM) not booting up properly. Once powering up, nothing displays on the monitor. At first, I thought that it was my video card (ATI Radeon 9600). But given that the card is relatively new (1 1/2 yr old or so) it didn't seem like the issue. I tested a few things but to no avail. Still nothing on the monitor.

I also thought that it may be the monitor, but hooked it up to my laptop and no issues at all. Monitor works fine. I've also tried to hit F10 to get into the BIOS setup and also tried to boot from a recovery CD, but nothing works.

After trying a few other things that didn't work, I took a step back and tried to think of what else might be causing the problem. I rebooted once more and noticed that the lights on the keyboard don't ever flash and listening to the computer it doesn't seem like it's fully booting up. Given that the keyboard lights don't flash it seems like it's not booting properly through the BIOS.

At this point, I'm stuck. I have no idea what's wrong or how to fix it. I've had nothing but problems with this poor computer and am about two steps away from junking it, stripping it of any salvagable parts and buying something new. However, I can't understand why it just died on me. It was working... Read more

Answer:Boot Up Problem -- No Display -- Possible Bios Issue

Hello Atbennet

I would disconnect all drives and see, if you can get post ( power on self test ) if you are not able to get that then it's pretty hard to go any further.

Check your cables make sure they are attached firmly and no pins are broken or bent.

When was the last time you checked the power supply unit and I have heard of video cards failing in 6 months.

You could try unpluging everything from the board, except / cpu, ram / keyboard/ to see if this works. Then you can add devices one by one. Theirs a good chance your pc hangs up after a certain point after bootup, which could be caused by your hard disk drive.

Hope this helps.

Hi Group,I have a problem with my display settings.I have a T520 I use for work and it lives on it's Lenovo docking station 90% of the time. I have it connected to 2 22" monitors through the DVI output on the back of the docking station. With the T520 if the laptop lid is closed the monitors won't turn on untill windows boots. This normally wouldn't be a problem but our company forces the use of Microsoft BitLocker which requires a pin to be typed in during the boot. On my old T420 when I booted the device I could leave my laptop closed and the DVI monitors would be the primary display and show the boot up sequence. I went to change this setting in the BIOS and the only options present are ThinkPad LCD and Analog. The info to the right had side of the screen says to set it to Display Port/DVI to use the monitors as primary displays during boot. Has anyone fixed this problem or know how to address it? I'd like to keep my laptops lid closed on my desk to keep dust out of the keyboard and it just looks nicer that way.

So all I have from H520s left is its hard drive ram and motherboard(THAT MOTHERBOARd) which I hate very much. Basically it's my fault... 2 days back I went in BIOS to hopefully change some settings because my ethernet didn't work and I thought hey "Default Settings" sound great so I applied those. After that I got black screen, restarded my computer and now I have "No Display Signal", I tried the CMOS removing and basically every possible hardware solution there is, nothing helps because hey... It's a some sort of MAHOBAY lenovo motherboard, no one knows what is it. I had this "No Display Signal" problem before but that time I was able to at least use PC with on board graphics(the "display" problem was only for GPU). Now I can't see even with the on board graphics. WTH? I could enter the BIOS without display and guess like where the settings is, but hey again its mahobay and there is no videos or images for help. Basically I can't even know the model or whatever because, you know why. Im very pissed. If someone maybe could tell me the steps in BIOS to change settings for display that would be great. Or I will just order a new motherboard. (Kinda stupid to spend money because of this little thing, but what else can I do.//)Thanks.

Hi Mietish, welcome to the forums,

hopefully the following site will help you; it's the service training site for the H520s which also includes a BIOS simulator which you can use to navigate the BIOS settings.

After installing the 1.19 BIOS the external Acer X233H flat panel (1920 x 1080) is horribly unstable.  I used it instead of the T400s LCD via a docking station.  The Acer display is unusable - it appears to get and lose synchonisation every few milliseconds.  It is always like this during boot and after windows 7 x64 comes up.  Once booted if I go to the T400s LCD, and back to the Acer it will usually settle down.  The BIOS readme states the BIOS fixes some external display problems, but it seems to have caused others. There does not appear to be a way to back off to the older BIOS.  Is that correct?  No older BIOS files were visible on the downloads page.  I also tried to reinstall 1.19 just in case, but the clever utility says I already have it and stops there.

Answer:T400s - 1.19 BIOS Problem w/external display

1. are you using the displayport, dvi, or vga port on the thinkpad.2. does the problem occur if you are using the T400s own displayport or vga.

Hello. This laptop is almost a year old (still under warranty). It was in HP service center and their conclusion is that everything is OK with laptop because they could not reproduce error with their HDD and their OS (that is what they actually said). Problem is with display. From time to time (not always) thin white line is shown on top of blue or gradiant blue or similar color (I'm attaching links to photos because they are too large to upload - if you look closely at photos, you will notice it on blue color): Photo 1Photo 2 Now, I picked up laptop from service last week and my warranty is valid for 2 more weeks or something like that. Any suggestions what to do? It seems that HP Service Center (MR Servis d.o.o., Zagreb, Croatia, Europe) doesn't care or they are not capable to properly test laptop. I paid for laptop almost 1.000,00? and month or two after warranty goes out I will have broken laptop? Thanx in advance,Stanislav Vlasic

Hello!

I recently received an Satellite L500-1XL, working just fine until i gave it to a friend...
The problem is that he updated the bios to V 2.10 (don't know why) and since then the image on the display appears like 15.4" even in bios.

Any ideas what could cause the problem?

Thanks

I can't see any of the text on my computer. Like when I go on start>All Programs it is all white, but, I can see text on the internet how do i fix it??

Answer:Problem with computer text not showing up

Hi rewindurmind !

Do you have an XP install CD with service pack 2 ? If not then you can borrow one for a friend for the following purpose only. You can do the checkdisk part with any XP CD but you'll need a CD with SP2 integrated to run sfc.

I'd start with a check disk to make sure there are no errors on the drive. With the XP CD inserted reboot the computer and repeatedly press the del key to enter the BIOS utility. If del doesn't work search for some message telling you which key to press to enter setup or have a look at this site.

Once in the BIOS change the boot order priority to CD-rom first, save and exit. When prompted to do so press a key to boot from the CD. Press 'R' to access the recovery console on the screen with that option. Choose your windows installation if prompted to do so (press enter when prompted for a password if you didn't set any administrator password) and type chkdsk /R (press enter to confirm the command). If there's more than one drive then rerun the scan on the other drives : change the drive letter by typing X: where X is the volume letter of your other(s) drive(s) and rerun chkdsk /R. Scan only the hard drives. Report if the check disk utility finds any errors.

If no error were found then restart in Windows normally (reset the boot order priority to hard drive first or don't press any key to boot from the CD when prompted to do so), go to start => run and type sfc /scannow (the space after sfc is important). This will run the sy... Read more

I have a desktop computer with a gigabyte GA-870a-UD3 motherboard, AMD Phenom X6 1100T CPU, xtremegear XG-P700 power supply, GTX460 graphics card.Symptoms:My problems started yesterday, when I tried to turn on my computer after not using it for a week.  It wouldn't boot, sometimes freezing at the BIOS splash screen, sometimes not loading the BIOS at all but the fans just whirring, sometimes taking a long time to load the BIOS, but eventually doing so and booting fine.  Once it froze at the windows login screen, and it also sometimes booted up normally.  However, after a couple hours of gaming, it froze.  I took off the case and laid my computer on its side, as it previously had issues overheating. This seemed to make it boot up easier, and when I put it upright and closed the case, it wouldn't boot.  at one point I put the computer upright while it was on, and this caused it to immediately crash.  While it was working, I did get I chance to monitor the temperature while I was gaming, and it did not seem excessively high (45C while idling, 60C while gaming.  my previous problems were due to crashes at exactly 62C, but I had since fixed a motherboard setting and it had operated at well above 62C without any problems).  Today, I have tried to get it to turn on several times, and the best I have gotten is freezing at the BIOS splash.  It still seemed to be sensitive to being upright vs on its side, but at this point it's... Answer:Bios won't display; not power supply or video card problem

Your paperclip test does not rule out a flakey PSU...borrow 1 of the same or greater wattage and swap it in there...That being stated if it doesn't power up properly you need to remove the components from the case and do a proper bench-test adding 1 component at a time before you assume it's the MBoard or CPU...or both.Post back with results.P.S. Remove the vid card for this test as it may be a likely culprit...and use only 1 stik of RAM for your bench-test.

We have T570 laptops and Bios version 1.09 and some on 1.19 bios version.  New Bios came out to upgrade to 1.21 4/27/2017.  We've download the new Bios and upgraded it but in Bios still shows 1.19 not 1.21.  We try to run the upgrade again and says we have the latest version.  Anyone have a solution for this

1.21 (N1VUJ04W) 1.21 (N1VET31W) 1.11 (N1VHT21W) 01 2017/04/25
1.19 (N1VUJ03W) 1.19 (N1VET29W) 1.09 (N1VHT19W) 01 2017/03/30Found the 1.21 on Lenovo site is still packaged with 1.19 files to flash.  Once run the 1.21 file it extracts to C:\Drivers. In that folder show N1VUJ03W which is the 1.19 not the N1VUJ04W 1.21 and in the flash folder has the N1VET29W 1.19 not the N1VET31W 1.21.  Who ever packaged the 1.21 did not add the new files for 1.21 or the link to download is still pointing to the 1.19 exe file..

So recently I purchased a Galaxy GTX 460 768MB video card. I was previously using a BFG Tech GTX 275. When I first installed the GPU I was on an ASUS P5B Deluxe WiFI Edition motherboard. I am now on an ASRock P64 Extreme4 motherboard. I mention the old mobo because the problem has been the same regardless. So I link the issue to the GPU.

Anywho, the new Galaxy card on boot, displays it's own Bios information before the mobo Bios page shows up. It's actually the first thing I see on my monitor. It just simply displays Galaxy Bios version (etc. etc. etc). It doesn't last for more than 3-4 seconds, but I personally feel it's an unnecessary delay. Especially since I'm so adamant about computer efficiency and I try to get my boot up times as fast as possible. Just a personal hobby I enjoy! So I was curious if there is a way to disable this initial Bios screen? I did many google searches and couldn't find the problem to a a perfect description. Some people did mention that it has to do with a motherboard conflict, but that's why I mentioned bother motherboards. One was old, and the one I'm on now is brand new. I've never purchased a Galaxy card until now, so I'm curious if it's unique to their brand? I've never updated Bios on a video card before and I'm not sure if it'd cure the problem either. Anyone familiar with this situation? Thank you!

Edit: I'll take a picture of the Bios screen and post it quick. I just thought about doing it, but I typed this entire message and I can't ... Read more

When connecting my GeForce 6600GT card to the TV (via s-video), I get a pattern of large dots, in slightly-slanted rows. This becomes very pronounced - and very distracting - when watching movies in full-screen mode. I tried playing with all the card settings I could find, but it made no difference. Anyone has any idea how to deal with it? TIA.

Answer:Problem with computer display on TV

Good description of "retrace lines", but not sure what you can do.

The TV's AV in may be less effective hardware wise at blanking them, or the TV out circuitry may be less effective at blanking them. Thats unlikely to be user adjustable in any sense.

Does the TV out settings have the ability to turn on/off "Interlace Mode" ? May or may not have, and the setting may or may not help.

Some PC's TV Out (S-Video) use a signal summation adapter circuit in the cable to produce AV for the TV, these may also be less effective. However we don't know how you are connecting.

Greetings all, I am a new user here. I recently upgraded to a P4 3 Ghz machine using the same LCD Samsung I had on my old computer. Since I don't game I'm using the integrated Intel graphics card. My display now has vertical bands of softness intermittently across it. I've intalled all the required drivers etc. Would this be a graphics card problem, software, any ideas ?

You don't have a graphics card since your using integrated. Try re-booting several times to see if it improves. Sometimes when you change a CPU it could take a couple re-starts till everything is recoginized.

Dear readers,

I am currently working on a car computer. For this purpose i want to use a compaq armada e500 laptop + VDO daytom mm5000 monitor.
I Successfuly managed to power it up and. As it has rgb video input (3 pins NOT 4 as normally in rgb) i connected it thru a sync combiner which schema i attach here

The problem is that the output looks like that

the resolution i use is 640x400 refresh rateis 60.

Please note that if u try smaller or bigger resolutions (like for example 640x480 or 512x400) everything on the monitor is completely unrecognizable.
Any ideas what am i doing wrong?

Answer:Car computer - monitor display problem

Hi Detergent,

I am also interested in being able to connect the same VDO dayton mm5000 monitor to my laptop (with analogue vga output) and also to an analogical source of video to its cvbs connector...

The main problem that I have is that I not been able to find the pinout of the connector that have the lcd monitor  ... I would be very thanked if you could put this information it in this same thread or send it to me by email

It is possible that the problem that you mention could be caused by the maximum resolution that supports the screen, that according to the manufacturer is of 400 x 234 pixels... although perhaps using another one sync combiner could work...

Thanks in advance and a Greeting

I use NVIDIA GeForce 6200 LE the currently installed version is 163.71. I did upgrade this previously to fix this problem but with no results.
Sometimes after I boot up, windows move is a sort of wave effect from top to bottom, for instance, if I scroll down a webpage, it loads from the top to the bottom after I move my scroll bar aswell as moving a window, the contests loads in the new location from top to bottom, also I am unable to open my Nvidia desktop manager and my Nvidia control panel is not there, but it reappears afew minutes later, which then, I cannot open either.
Also, I am unable to put my computer on standby, as the standby button is faded out which will be fixed by a restart.

When this happens, my display tells me it is at 640 480 resolution and Lowest (4 bit) which I cannot change, when my monior is actually at what I usually use, 1024 x 768 and Highest (32 bit).
If I click okay or apply, it does change to the low resolution and colour quiality, and i can then change it up to my default.

I should also add that I have changed my monitor with another one, same problem.

Hi, Before Xmas I bought a tablet X201T ( i7 2.13 GHz, 4Gb ram, Win 7 pro) with the following display: 12.1" WXGA LED Panel with wide viewing angle This display was the only option since the ultrabright outdoor display seems to not be anymore available in the website and I don't care to have a touchscreen in a tablet. My tablet has the following problems when in PORTRAIT MODE: 1) In Windows Journal: if I select the highlighter or I decide to open another application, like adobe reader, and then I return to my windows journal page, near to the dot cursor it appears another icon that bugs a lot especially if you are trying to write. Basically I see the dot and next to it, on the upper right side another symbol. For example if I select a thick highlighter and then I select the pen, I visualize the dot of the pen and on the right side next to the dot a colored semitransparent bar belonging to the previously selected highlighter.  This happens only when the tablet is in portrait mode! 2) In Windows Journal or in other drawing applications ( I have autodesk sketch book pro) in portrait mode: if you draw close to the border on the camera side of the tablet or if you cross the black border in the display on that side of the tablet, drawed lines appear that go from that side to the other side of the page...like if you draw a straight line from that side to the other ... My friend has a desktop pc that has a non working graphics card or graphics card slot (im not sure which one doesnt work..)

before, he had the BIOS setting to "onboard" instead of "PCI-E x16" because the graphics card wasn't recognized by the pc (the computer had to use the chipset driver for display driver)
even when installing the driver for the GeForce 8800 GT, it couldn't find compatible hardware, meaning it wasn't connected (when it was, physically)

i tried taking out the grpahics card and putting it back in.
then, i booted into bios, and i changed the primary display adapter from "onboard" to "pci-e x16"

but the thing is, in the pci-e x16, the graphics card is not recognized so when i plug the vga cable into the graphics card, there is no output.

if i try putting the vga cable back onto the motherboard, the primary video adapter is still @ pci-e x16 so there is no output there, as well..

how can i change the setting back to "onboard"?
i tried resetting the bios by taking the battery out and putting it back in, but i think the default setting for the video is "pci-e x16" since the PC came with a graphics card.

should we go out to buy a new gfx card to see if the pc recognizes it and possibly provide output on the monitor?

or should i take out the gfx card and then boot it up to see if it automatically switches to onboard?

i can't think of any more solutions on how to get the display working again.

How long did you leave the battery out for? Sometimes it can take upto 10 mins to work.

I would definitely take the card out and try booting up again , like you say it may switch to onboard again.

Failing that, borrow a card if possible to see if that works.

For my main monitor I have a Samsung SyncMaster which is connected to my SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4650 through the hdmi port and I have a sceptre tv plugged into my second port which I have plugged into my DVI port. I've had it this way for about a year and haven't really had any problems. I just purchased a Lilliput 7" Um-70 Mini Usb Monitor two days ago. At first it worked great, I had my tv on the left side and my usb on the right side. Last night I decided to play Oblivion through steam, the only way I can play oblivion without it freezing is that I have to disable all monitors except for my primary one. Now though when I try to bring my other two monitors back I can only get my usb one or my tv. They both won't be on at the same time for some reason. I've tried restarting and unplugging and replugging them in but it still isn't working.
Any ideas?

My Hp Pavilion a529n fails to produce a display on a monitor that works fine with another computer (I am using the same cord to connect both).

The problem is somewhat intermittent -- occasionally it works, but most of the time the monitor reports "No Signal". The display adapter is on board, so if it is failing, then I guess the whole system board is junk, since there is no easy way to repair or replace an on board display adapter. Any suggestions?

I am in the process of building a new computer.

Mother board: Gigabyte GA- 8IPE1000 Pro-G
Processor: Pentium 4, 3 GHz, 800 MHz FSB
Memory: Mushkin DDR 1 GB PC 3200
Video Card: Gigabyte ATI Radeon 9250
ETC

Here is the problem I'm having:

I installed the MOBO, Processor, Memory, hard drive, and video card. Booted the computer just to check before proceeding. The CPU fan starts, but I don't get any video. I thought that maybe it was the video card, so I removed the new card, and installed my old working video card. Still nothing. So I thought it was a problem with the mobo. I returned the MOBO. The new MOBO arrived today, and installed it...still no video. So then I removed the new processor, and installed my processor from the old computer, the one I'm using to post this, still nothing.

I have built three computers before this one without problems. Can someone please help me figure out what is causing this problem?

Thanks.

I am not positive what all is related & what is a separate problem. Sometimes (for no apparent reason) my desktop will go blank (just wallpaper- no icons, taskbar, etc.), then everything will reappear (task manager won't respond while it's blank either). The only thing different is on my taskbar, after it has done this, some of my icons(random ones) will be missing or the arrow to show the hidden ones will be gone. I also often will start running worse until I log off & back on. This started happening every once in awhile(maybe 1-2 times a week) approx. 1&ahalf months ago. Suddenly, here in the last week or two, it started happening alot more. Then in the last 3 days, it has been doing it ALOT (at times, more than once an hour). I had thought it may of had something to do with my home network card (<--3months old) maybe being bad because I knew lately if I did anything w/my local network (enable it, disable, repair), it seemed to do it approx. 4 out of 5 times at least, but it does it now nomatter what I'm doing(it has done it 1time so far since I started this post). I don't even have to be connected to the internet! I can be on a webpage, on "my computer", or I don't have to be doing anything!!! Just in case it did have anything to do with my local network, I unplugged my network card & deleted the local network & it still did it. System Restore didn't work, my video card(ATI RAGE mobility) is up-to-date, I haven... Read more

I was going to put a new anti virus on my nephews computer, but it said to uninstall the current anti virus first. He had AVG, so I uninstalled everything and when we re booted it, it would start and then the screen would go black. My nephew unplugged it to restart it so much trying to fix it that the screen just stays black when you turn it on. I put a boot disc into the drive and I heard it load, but I can't see anything. I have never slaved a hdd, but I do have a hard drive enclosure and have read the instructions and watched you tube videos, I am just not sure it will work and I don't want it to contaminate my system. Any suggestions?

Answer:Can I fix problem by hooking hdd to another computer as a slave- NO DISPLAY AT ALL

Hi I would suggest you save any data from the drive and reinstall the operating system and drivers for that machine and start fresh,Avg and many other anti virus have unistall tools from the maker which are best used when uninstalling Download tools and utilities | AVG UK this is one way to save the data Use Ubuntu Live CD to Backup Files from Your Dead Windows Computer

Hi, I'm trying to get my mother's computer going again after being down now for two weeks and I've tried everything I know to fix this thing. It had a virus sometime last year (july 04 I believe) that complety broke a new cdrw drive by opening and closing it too much. She had the HD wiped and a new OS (XP home) installed and it worked fine with a new cdrw up until now. The entire system cut off and on over and over again so she disconnected all power for a while then hooked it back up. It worked ok for a day then just cut off. Thats when she called me lol. When I start the computer it cuts on and all the status lights come on and blink like usual but I get no display on the monitor. So I checked the monitor and its fine (works great on my pc). I checked the vid card seating, it was in properly and then I finally changed it out to an older (backup) card I have to see if that was the problem but still had the same results. I changed the power supply and even put a spare HD in the system and it still does the same thing. I checked the RAM seating and I even checked to see if the motherboard was still spaced from the case as to not cause a short and none of those seem to be the problem. I opened the case to further inspect the machine and cut it on, the CPU fan and the all the other case fans cut on and run. The HD is audibly running but I'm not hearing the usual beep from start up and the only way to cut the machine off is the switch on the power supply (pw... Read more

Answer:Computer bios problem

Try from basics. Disconnect everything, except floppy drive (if there), 1 stick of memory and the graphics card. Try to boot into BIOS, press Del a few times when starting.
If no video, try another card. If no go, in all likelyhood your mobo is shot.
If it works, add 1 item at the time and reboot. eventually you should find the 'sinner'.

It's as if the screen doesn't actually get any signal from the computer until the operating system has kicked in (I have a blank screen for quite a while until it finally starts displaying the OS, at which point it is logging me in.

Hi, its been awhile for me posting but I always love reading other peoples questions. This is about my nephews
Dell Tower & Monitor. Win-8. Okay his screen is black. The mouse pointer shows and the icons next to the clock are showing. He can't get the start button to bring anything on screen. Now if he reboots with Ctrl-alt-delete (3 finger salute) the windows screen shows up and the Dell Computer sign shows up but no wallpaper after that. Just black screen & cursor from mouse. We tried some of the buttons on the side of the monitor but couldn't get away from black screen. I think some button was pushed by accident on monitor by their kids. 5 yrs old. I know we have a working monitor & tower but that black screen & cursor is all.

Answer:Display not showing on monitor.

What's the model name and model number of that Dell desktop?
What's the "service tag" number and "express service code" number on it?

Hello everyone. I have this old computer that I have not used for maybe about a year and a half. I decided to try and fix it since I could put it to use or give it to someone. The specs of the hp slimline can be found on this link here http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03791266. My problem is that no display shows at all, but the computer turns on. Currently it's Windows 10, but it was windows 8 before the upgrade. Patio said that if I can perform a factory reset, it will work again because it won't have windows 10 anymore. I looked up methods and tried one where I press f11 and move to the reset option. The computer only has dvi connection and thats how I connected it to the monitor. I know the monitor works since I tested it on another computer. Any ideas?

Looking at Display Adapters in Device Manager of my Thinkpad 540p laptop I see two display adapters listed, an Intel HD Graphics 4600 and an NVIDIA GeForce GT730M. The reason I was looking was that I am having some issues with some photo display software and it was suggested that hardware GPU acceleration could be the problem and I was checking that the drivers are up to date (they are). My question is: do I need both these adapters to be enabled? Could they be conflicting? I am hesitant to disable anything without asking advice first. Can I disable (say) the Intel adapter without seriously disabling my machine?

Answer:I have two display adapters showing...

It's referred to as switchable graphics. It's quit common these days on tablets and laptops. My ASUS laptop has an AMD Radeon HD 7660G and a 7670M. With the proper drivers installed the PC can switch between the two on the fly without you even noticing it. I can also manually set which one is used for certain programs if I want via Catalyst Control Center. You may be able to do the same with the software installed by the OEM. I don't have a similar system so I can't tell you where to look though. Once you find those settings try the NVidia and then the Intel to see which works best for that program. I think you can also set the NVidia to do everything, not 100% sure though. With any luck somebody that has that setup will chime in with better info.

Hello. I have a GTX 1080 and two displays. One is a Qnix 2710 Evolution II @ 100hz, and the other is a Vizio D50u D1 with 3840x2160 @60hz.

A few days ago, I was able to switch from my monitor to TV by simply turning it on. After I pressed the TV's power button, the monitor would automatically shut off, and the TV would run at 4k 60hz.

With no new driver updates/noticeable changes to the TV or graphics card, the TV display has stopped working as a monitor all together. I get "No signal". Nvidia control panel does recognize the display, but now shows my TV as "SGD FRCX". It was "D50U-D1" a couple days ago.

My Qnix monitor runs just fine by the way.

It gives me options to set the resolution (which does nothing since the display doesn't show), but does not give me the option to set it to the native 3840x2160 @ 60hz like it did before.
I re-installed my graphics drivers and the problem still persists. I'm not too sure what to do.

Hi Peeps,

I have recently installed windows 7 now for a while. Before 7 I had vista and then xp, both which I used dual monitors.

Since switching to windows 7, dual display does not work any more, I have two monitors which I tried with the addtional main display, both of them power up with the light displayed on the monitor, but there is no input detected by the monitors.

I have swapped my graphics card now twice at pcworld 9800GT pci-e, so I know its not the graphics card.

Monitors I am using have VGA connetions but have a adapter to fit into the dvi port.

One mointor I have tried is this one Octigen-Welcome to Octigen

The other one is a stock flat screen I got from packard bell I have no link for that one.

I have no Idea what I am not doing right, help, something in windows which is not working?

This is symptomatic of driver issue. Go to the GFX card manufacturer's site and download the latest drivers. If this does not work, there are a couple other things we can try.

Ok so out of nowhere I've had these two problems with my computer. I don't know if they're related, the one started like a few days before the other. I'll explain:

I noticed a few days ago when I go to turn off my computer and you get the 3 options: Standby, Shut down, Restart, that my option to put the computer on standby was dimmed out and I couldn't select it. I hadn't done anything different with the computer or anything, it just happened out of nowhere.

And then a few days later, when I booted my computer up in the morning, my monitor said "Input out of Range" and then the monitor when to sleep. I checked to make sure everything was plugged in correctly, and even unplugged and replugged, but it did it again. So then I started it up again, it did it, but once my monitor went to sleep I hit a key and again it said "Input out of Range" but then instead of going to sleep again my monitor just keep itself on and it booted up like normally and I was on my desktop... it makes no sense. It does this every time I start up my computer now and all I have to do is wait for the monitor to go to sleep and then hit a key to bring it out of sleep but still it's annoying.

I don't get why it's doing this and I haven't added any new hardware or anything or done anything new to make it do this...

Answer:Can't put computer to sleep, also monitor/display problem on startup

It all started when one day I was playing a game...no problems, no errors, no different than any other time. All of a sudden the game froze....the sound started to loop, every command i tried didnt respond, couldnt ctrl+alt+delete, couldnt alt+tab, nothing. After letting it sit for awhile and seeing no difference, I turned it off....only to find out that when I turned it back on, the front computer lights were NOT lit, and the monitor was acting as if the computer was turned off, the green light blinking with a black screen. The fans were going, the drives were spinning, it sounded and looked no different on the inside. When I tried to restart it or power it off, nothing happened. Neither the power or the reset button was responding, yet it will turn on with a push of the power button. I switched out my geforce ti 4200 128 mb DDR with an old TNT2 32 mb graphics card to see if my card had just been fried....but I got the same response. What I couldnt do, however, was put my geforce into another computer, because it was simply too large to fit into my other available computer, an old and compact little HP Pavillion. Could the pre-set 32 bit color depth and 85 hz refresh rate be too much for the old card to display, therefore producing a blank screen? Is my graphics card really burnt out from just over a year of use??? Is there ANYTHING I can do on my own?!?

I have a computer with vista basic and have dual monitors with a generic video card and it has works fine. I recently upgraded to Vista ultimate and now when I go into display,it is showing only one monitor. Both monitors on on but with the same screen. Since it is a generic video card I cannot find where to set up the monitor to view seperate utilities/programs. Any suggestions?

Answer:dual monitors not showing up in display

exactly what video card? sounds like you need to install vista drivers for it. If t came with the system, you should be able to go to the computer manufacturers and get the proper drivers. If you purchased it separately, go to the video cards manufacturers website and get the driver there.

Normally for dual monitors all you have to do is to right click desktop, click on properties, and click on settings.

Hi, I don't know what a 'brightness bar' is, I'm afraid- perhaps you could explain how you normally make that appear?

Would you be interested in being able to control the brightness by, e.g, holding down the CTRL key and the scroll button on your mouse? This (and volume too) can be done with a small freeware program called Volumouse.

You can choose key combinations to do this to suit yourself.

It seems like I keep having one problem after the other, recently I have noticed lines and dots on my display, I have noticed this issue more on gradients.

Here is an example image of what I am talking about:

The image is of the background in my Steam client (this does not only happen in Steam), notice the dots towards the bottom of the image as well as the horizontal lines.

My monitor is a BenQ E2420HD connected by HDMI, I am using a Nvidia GTX 580 with the latest drivers installed, I have tried reinstalling my graphics drivers but it has made no difference.

thanks,

Hello,
Recently I tried to change my Quadro 1000M GPU to AMD M4000, but it was not working.. Computer powered on but display was not showing anything. Tried display diagnostics (D+power on button), it showed all the colored screens...
After a huge struggle, I have change back to Quadro 1000M and it was ok.
Then I tried to disable Intel HD adapter (read that it might help) and changed GPU to AMD M4000.. still not showing anything..
Then I decided to go back to Quadro 1000M and now it is the same with Quadro 1000M GPU... Display not showing anything... When I tried to reset BIOS (with coin battery detachment), at start it showed BIOS loading screen (even tried diagnostics after BIOS reset, everthing was good) and everything as usual but it didn't boot up, just restarted and then the same black screen problem..

But when I go to the properties there is no option about it there....that area of the properties box is just blank. So I can't figure out how to get it to show up on a dual display. Any ideas?
