I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:Help! Lenovo Y700 Static noise when playing games ...

Hi there, Baracka        -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

I might also suggest checking with headphones to see if the sound operates normally with headphones.  If not, then it is likely the driver, or the audio chip (but more likely the drivers).

If it works fine with headphones, but not speakers, then maybe there is a pinched wire shorting out the speakers.
In that case, I would contact service - they should be able to fix it and would be able to identify what the problem turned out to be.  If it is just one or two random cases, then perhaps exchange makes sense.

Update us how it goes.

Answer:Lenovo Y700 hang/Freeze when playing games

Seems like this is a windows file and the reasons could be as wide as corrupt registry entry to a corrupt windows installation.

Usually to check for windows errors, click on start then open CMD with admin rights
Type scannow /f
See if any error pop up

Since its a new laptop, you can try to Reset the PC to factory settings and install softwares carefully. Its possible the some software corrupted this file.
To Reset the PC (Note - This will delete all personal data) -
1) Shutdown laptop.
2) Press One key recovery button
3) Select (Advanced options) Troubleshoot > Reset this PC

When I first had this problem it would only freeze once a day. Now it happens everytime I try to play a game. I have seen some other posts on this forum to try to fix my problem but I still haven't found a fix. I have reinstalled windows, moved some games to my ssd, updated BIOS, updated graphics card drivers / downgrade drivers, etc and the problem continues to happpen. This it what actually happens: Im like 1 min into the game and then all of a sudden the whole laptop freezes and the audio from the game keeps on repeating. The laptop doesn't let me alt + tab, alt + F4, the mouse and keyboard doesn't work at all, I'm forced to do a force shut down. This problem only happens when I'm using the AMD grahics. If I play a game on the intel graphics it won't freeze but the game is barley even playable.I really want this problem fixed!  Please help me.

My R9 M375 in my lenovo y700 laptop seems to have a problem, while in game and under load, the GPU keeps going from 820mhz to 1005mhz, this manifests as stutter in games and annoys me quite a lot. Here is a picture of gpu-z while playing a game. And also why does the gpu usage vary that much under the same loadIt is supposed to stay at a 1005 mhz at all tims under a game.

Hey everyone,

So I have a Logitech G35 gaming headset, which is amazing and I'd never want something else. This is my second one, since the earcup of my previous one fell off.

Whenever I play games (Currently Eve Online, League of Legends and Minecraft), any sound that is not the game causes extreme static in my headset. For example, during a game of League of Legends, I like to play some music and/or be on skype with people. However, as soon as I introduce any other sound than the game (so the music or skype) I sometimes hear extreme static noises.

I've sometimes thought it coincided with me pressing lots of buttons on the keyboard, but I wasn't able to reproduce it that way. I've also tried to see if it was the USB port, but other ports do the same thing. It reminds me of static noise, but I don't know how to check for this or how to stop it.

Please help, as this is extremely annoying and ruins my experience with this headset (or deprives me of my music during games!). I have the latest Logitech Gaming Software installed, as well as the latest Realtek HD drivers. If any other info is needed, I'd be happy to provide.

Answer:Static noise through USB headset during games

Do you have your Headphone cable close to other high powered devices or cables such as higher voltage or even lower voltage cabling. A lot of times you will have issues with signal bleed when it is too close to either. I see it all the time when I set audio equipment up for others.

Hi,Don't usually post on these sort of sites so the fact i've been compelled to register shows how much this ones getting on top of me!OK, so i recently built my first computer and everything has seemed for some time now. Then around mid-June I was playing Doom 3 and i noticed this wierd intermitant static noise comming from the speakers.  At first when it would only play intermitantly and wouldnt occur when some programs (eg divx, winamp, certian games) were playing sound.Over the last month though the noise has increased and increased to the point where i am now driven to distracion.  I can no longer play games/movies/music because the white noise/static coming over the speakers is now un-ceasing.It is driving me up the wall and i dont know what to do.I've tried using different cables (which i know work) and different speakers (which i also know work) neither has helped and the sound has persisted -thus i deduce that it is something within the computer itself. Some one told me it might be because there are loose wres touching the psu, so i opended the computer tied everything up nice and neat etc -it didn't make a blind bit of difference. The soundcard is built into mother board (motherboard is Gigabyte GA-K8NF9).Any ideas?Want any more info about comp?-JnmimI've tried re-installing the drivers.

My laptop speakers work perfectly. But for some reason, there is static noise whenever I play any songs from any of these cds: Showbiz, Absolution, H.A.R.P.P Tour 2008 (all by Muse), There isn't a problem with the cds, I played them all perfectly on another laptop. The speakers work fine, except with the above cds.
I should also mention that I tried updating the sound drivers.

What is causing this and how do I fix it?

Answer:Satellite L500 speaker static noise when playing certain cds

Hi

Have you connected external speakers to your notebook and can you notice the same issue there?

In your case I would install the latest sound drivers and BIOS from the Toshiba website. Both you can download on the official Toshiba website.

Furthermore it would be interesting to know which OS you have. Can test it with factory settings, please?

There's a continous static noise that plays while headphones are plugged in. Audio drowns it out but it's always playing in the background and you can hear it if you're not playing anything. I've tried uninstalling the Realtek driver but Windows just reverts back to it when looking for a new driver. I also tried updating the driver software through the device manager and choosing the "High Definition Audio Device". Anyone experience the same issue and find a solution? This has been going on for a year now and it's getting unbearable. W540Windows 7 SP1

I'll cut to the chase....

Lenovo T430 Laptop, Window 7 sp1, 64 bit

Just today this started. I haven't had any issues before. When playing anything audio (e.g., YouTube, ZeroPunctuation, MP4, MP3, any audio) there is the occasional buzzing/static/cracking noise (kinda like what you'd hear fiddling with a headphone jack) coming from the speakers. It happens regardless of volume (hardware volume, or software setting), or whether I'm using the laptops speakers or headphones (I've tried with various headphones, including some quality BOSE) making me conclude it's not the tweeter or cone of the speaker itself.

So far I've tried updating all the platforms like Flash to see if the issue was that. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Realtek driver, disabling/renabling through Device Manager and restarting, and even using the Troubleshoot Audio Playback.

This is driving me insane as having good audio is a major component of my daily activities. Thank for the help

Hello, I have a question. My Lenovo Yoga 720 15.6" doesn't overheat, although I've noticed something rather odd. When I play Fifa 17 with the charger plugged in, the fans are very loud and the laptop gets pretty hot. When I play Fifa 17 on battery only (charger not plugged in) the fans are quite silent and the laptop doesn't get hot at all. Why is that? For all I know, I would expect the exact opposite...Thanks in advance!Kind regards,Tijs

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 720 15" : hot when playing games on charger, cool when playing games on battery???

The CPU runs at full speed when it is plugged in and runs more slowly on battery to save power.  Faster = more heat.

I have owned my Y700 since around July, and have had a mostly positive experience with it. However, while playing some games, I am met with a diagonal line from the top left to bottom right corners of the screen that behaves like screen tearing. I have made several attempts to eliminate this issue myself, but have had limited or no success depending on the game being played. At the time of writing, the biggest offenders for me are Minecraft and Starbound. I have tried playing both games with Vsync enabled and disabled, and I have ensured that they are utilizing my 960m GPU through the Nvidia Control Panel. I have enclosed a screenshot of the issue from the game Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst. If you have any feedback that might be helpful, please let me know. Thank you.

Sometimes it stops, but whenever I play sound in the computer it always in the background. After a bit of researching I found that what cause this is the Nvidia drivers that installed, when I disable them, it stops. How can I fix this? I don't want to keep these drivers disabled since I need to use the Nvidia video graphic from time to time.(btw I tried to switch between Realtek drivers to windows generic drivers, It didn't work) Thanks in advance!

Hi.
Welcome to the forums.

Can you please post the full model number of you Thinkpad? Are you using Windows 10?

I have a TP Y 14 (20DM008UUS) with one of those ThinkPad In-Ear Headphones (57Y4488) (and Windows 10 64bits) and I don't apreciate any static sound while hearing music or videos.

How are you disabling the Nvidia drivers, from Windows Device Manager? Disabling the NVidia display adapter worked for you to remove the noise sound?

I always try to keep the Thinkpad Yogas driver up to date. Do you want to give it a try updating the Nvidia and the Realtek drivers?

Let me know your model number and we will check the support page for the latest drivers.

Hi! I have an Ideapad Y700-15ISK running Windows 10, bought new last August. From day one, there's been a persistent problem during games: every few minutes, the system will hitch / freeze / stall for 1-2 seconds, and the audio will st-st-st-stutter during the stall. These are not ultra-modern games with demanding system requirements - I've noticed this problem while playing XCOM: Enemy Unknown, The Blackwell Chronicles, and most recently, Thimbleweed Park. It can happen apparently randomly, but I have noticed it happening fairly consistently when the game is loading an audio file that hasn't been played before in the current play session, so I'm wondering if this is a HDD access problem? The system came with an SSD and a HDD; Windows is installed on the former, while Steam and all my games are installed on the latter (1 TB WDC WD10SPCX-24HWST1). I have seen a few other threads where people seem to experience a similar problem, and have tried the following solutions to no avail:Updating all driversUpdating BIOS (current: CDCN37WW)Disabling Windows indexing on all drivesDisabling antivirus (AVG)Disabling wifiUninstalling Intel Rapid StorageEnsuring that the game is using the NVIDIA card and not integrated graphicsIn Windows audio settings, checking the Enhancements-->Disable all sound effects boxI was going to try a Lenovo Solution Centre hardware scan, but the program seems infinitely stuck on the "Loading" circle, so I guess I won't be doing that... An... Hi, community.  i've just bought a Lenovo y700 and it is only a day old. I was playing music and noticed  that the subwoofer doesn't seem to play anything. To prove this. I went to realtek properties and disabled the front speakers leaving the subwoofer on 100 and turned on realtek audio up to 100. When I replayed music, there was no sound at all. I've seen another thread of this problem with the Y700, but there was no solution. I've tried installing the realtek audio driver on the support page for the Y700, but that didn't do anything.Any suggestions?Thank you for any assistance.

Hi all,

Been having some problems with my PC since it was first put together 6 months back, but recently it has become an almost recurring problem.

During games the system will often freeze up. This is accompanied with a series of 'static' lines dancing across the screen and the souns cutting out to a static whine. Usually, the screen goes black, then comes back on, although there is no longer any sounds. Sometimes it never recovers and has to be rebooted.

When it happens seems to be random. League of Legebds only had it happen when the game was really busy on screen. However Diablo 3 (Beta) did it from an options menu, and Super Monday Night Combat did it 4 seconds into game start. League has stopped doing it since I turned the graphics settings lower, butreally based on the spec below it shouldnt have any problem running at max settings.

My PC doesn't have a sound card - it is all done through the motherboard. I nearly always have last.fm (flash based music website) running in the background. My best guess is either there's a sound conflict, or, since the graphics card appears to reboot and League stopped doing it after fiddling with the graphics, there's a fault at the graphics card end.

The site I followed for building the PC did suggest adding a soundcard to prevent a conflict, maybe this is the end result of that?

I managed to get a quick video of the 'static' effect I mentioned when playing LoL. In this case, it never recovered.... Read more

I'm having some problems with my computer (less than two weeks old) that I can't seem to resolve.

Whenever I play games I get a complete system freeze seemingly at random, with no contact with mouse or keyboard. The system doesn't automatically reboot, though. The game graphics just freeze and I get static hissing/high pitched beeping sounds. This usually happens a couple of minutes after I start playing, but at times I've been able to play for longer periods of time without any incident. These lockups seem to be more frequent the last days though, and I've even gotten two outside the game enviroment.
At first I suspected it was the temperature of the cpu or video card, so I purchased two additional fans, so I've got the cpu temp down at around 43 when idle and around 50 when playing games. After that I tried downloading and updating all the drivers for my video card, though the result was the same. It feels like I've tried anything. The directx diagnostic tool doesn't find anything wrong with my computer and I'm fairly certain it's not an irq conflict.
If anyone might be able to help me with this problem I'd be most grateful.
(Btw, my two sticks of ram are of the same brand)

This problem has happened twice already in a span of about two weeks. I was playing Dota 2 when suddenly the whole screen freezes. The strange part was that my cursor was still working, but nothing was responding when I clicked. I tried the Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get to my task manager, however it send me to a black screen. The cursor still changes to that hand with the pointer finger up when I place it near the region where the options are supposed to be. I clicked the last one which I believe is the task manager option, and then it sends me back to the game with the game cursor but this time with a black screen.  I really want this problem fixed

Answer:Lenovo Y700 freezes while playing game

Problem (most probable) - Your Display drivers are crashing.

This problem is quite common in PC games and few tips to avoid this are -

1) Install a Stable GPU driver. Hint - The latest drivers are usually not the most stable ones.
2) Always perform a Clean installation for the GPU drivers.
NVIDIA already gives an option for a CLEAN INSTALL. If you have AMD, unistall everything related to AMD/Catalyst Control Center and then install the stable drivers.
3) Reduce the graphics quality of the game, sometimes running at max or too high graphics can cause crashes.
4) Keep a check on CPU and GPU heat. If your GPU is heating up too much, it will freeze and crash.  You can use CPU HWMonitor or GPU-z to monitor the stats.

Let me know and I can provide details on some of those topics. Thanks.
(I am planning to create a video on this, so hopefully in 2-3 weeks I should have something. You can follow me on youtube if you want - Rockykoston).

So I just bought a new laptop, toshiba satellite p755-s5390, and have been noticing some static crackles/ lag. When I play music (pandora) sometimes it randomly has a static spike and lags my mouse for 5-10 second periods, then goes away. This also occurs when I'm playing an online game (airmech). When it happens while playing, it lags my screen and shoots my ping up to 500-1000 when its normally around 75-100. I also hear the static while its lagging. I have tried re-installing my sound drivers but that didn't fix anything. I know its not my outlet because I have gone to different homes/hotels and its still there. Could it possibly be my Ipod? Thanks for helping!

BTW, running Win 7 64bit

Hello everyone, I recently facing problem with my CPU I think. When I start to play a game (Elder Scroll V: Skyrim) , my CPU suddenly became so noisy. I don't know if the game will crash or what will happen to it, so I just close the game and everything back to normal. No noise from the CPU anymore.

When I'm listening music, running other program or anything, my CPU doesn't have this annoying noise, but when I'm playing, the noise started.

I'm using Windows 7 Professional, a i5-2500 processor, a NVIDIA GeForce 9500GT and Realtek Audio (From the motherboard I think, because I didn't add any sound card?)

Any help would be appreciate

Answer:Noise from CPU while playing games

I would guess it is the fan on the Video card. Some speed up when needed(when playing games usually, or something graphic intense, to keep the card cool enough.).
I suppose it's a possibility that it is the CPU fan, but usually if it's loud enough to hear that well, it's the fan(s) on the video card.

Firstly, i want to say that i've seen many topics related to this problem on forums , but didn't find the solution. The keyboard randombly freezes when playing, problem didn't occur while browsing or doing random stuff. In order to make it work again, it requires to push the power button for restarting PC, because after restarting it through START/POWER/RESTART i get that BIOS or whatever it's called table about starting in safe mode, but i can't click on it because keyboard still doesn't work. I've tried updating KB drivers, but it says it's up to date, tried unistalling them on safe mode.WIN 10

My ideapad Y700-15ISK has been freezing while playing games for about 3 months now. It will be completely fine with no stuttering or lag during game play but seemingly at random it the keyboard will start not recognizing inputs and I will be forced to shut it off using the power button as during full screen games you can only exit them with the keyboard. The strange thing is that the game will still recognize mouse input as I can move it to make my character look around and the game runs fine as normal. This has happened with 3 games so far with varying degrees of severity and just recently my PC crashed while watching a video and wasn't able to reboot until I turned it off and on again. I am not to experienced with laptops but I suspect there could be a problem with the graphics card as I have noticed minor graphical blips during videos. I have contacted Lenovo support on mobile but they have come back with the solution of doing a factory reset 2 times so far. Its always nice to get a second opinion especially now with the crash that recently happend. Thank you for reading.

Answer:Lenovo y700-15isk ideapad blackbars in games

This is pretty common with many of my own older games, many of which don't natively support 16:9 aspect ratios. Go through your game's settings and make sure you can't adjust the game's resolution to your screen's native resolution, or any other 16:9 aspect ratio resolution, such as 1024576, 1152648, 280720, 1366768, 1600900, 19201080, 25601440 and 38402160, not exceeding your rig's maximum. (Mine only goes up to 1920x1080). If not, you have 2 less than ideal options: You can look for a game patch or tweak that enables widescreen resolutions. WSGF dot ORG is a good place to look. Sometimes game HUD elements get stretched but the primary graphics get rendered right, or some other side-effect; the site above lists known issues to each of their fixes. BUT, if you're not careful, you can mess up your game, so back up the entire game / game settings folder(s) / registry before applying any changes. Or, if the game is old enough / undemanding enough to run using your rig's on-board Intel graphics rather than the Nvidia GPU, you can use Intel's* scaling settings and stretch-to-fit, which will fill the screen and the black bars... but stretch the images and "fatten" everything.  * If there is a way to do this with the Nvidia Contol Panel, I haven't dug deep enough to discover it. To make the game run on Intel Graphics: - Right-Click a blank spot on your desktop, Select Intel's "Graphics Options > Panel Fit > Scale Fullscreen"&n... I am currently experiencing a loud fan noise whenever I play any games. This fan sound worries me as my previous laptop which is lower spec, doesn't produce the sort of loud sound from the fan. I went through everywhere related to system cooling and thermal framework settings in the power settings but still cannot reduce the fan noise while playing games. I hope anyone would be kind of you to solve this problem that has been worrying me these days. Below are the specs of my laptop.

HP Pavilion 15 ab-071tx
Windows 8.1
Intel core i7 5th gen processor at 2.4Ghz
8GB RAM
GeForce 940M

Answer:Loud fan noise when playing games

the noise that your fan generates would mean it's working hard to cool your computer.. this is good..

unless your fan is making clicking or sounds/noises that give you the inclination that your fans are broken or somehow screeching or the ball bearings need oil or perhaps there is too much dust in the vents,

then your only option is to deal with the noise of a fan..

For some reason, Laptop manufactures these days are letting go of quality product design and pushing little tiny plastic houses with hot CPU and hard drives and Memory and big hot Video cards..

If you haven't read up on this go ahead and have a loo at Lenovo's and what they are dealing with! I also have a Lenovo laptop and the funniest story is that I literally have to have my fan blasting at full speed.. It's not really bothering me but the sound of air being pushed is there.. but it doesn't kill me.. but thats me..

If I don't run my fan at full speed, my little plastic piece of heat just turns off and doesn't perform adequately.. Your lucky you got HP which hopefully doesn't do what Lenovo does to their customers on $1000 laptops by the way! the injected major restrictions to the laptop which cause it to not be able to even use the hardware inside of it because it's too hot.. hence why my fan is running at constant full speed 24/7.. Lenovo by the way even put a restriction on the way the fan works and I can't use it the way I want to to cool my computer! So the funny story is I cut a wire th... Read more

Hi people,

I bought a new computer back in June which I built myself. Everything worked fine, until now.

Nothing has been moved, knocked, or changed inside the case.

Problem:

When I open a game it starts buzzing. I looked online and I don't really know what kind of buzzing it is to determine the problem.

I tried to change the v-sync in the game settings and the buzzing changes to a different buzzing sound.

My friend told me it is coil whine, but I'm not sure? I only bought it in June. I haven't been gaming much either. (It never did this before).

I uploaded a video, the sound might be a bit quiet, but you can turn up your sound a bit. (I promise there are no loud sounds in the video to pop your ears/speakers).

http://youtu.be/wWtKCRP27Ek

PC Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7 4820K @ 3.70GHz
GPU: PowerColor TurboDuo R9 280X OC 3GB
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4
SSD: Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB
RAM: Patriot Viper 3 Black Mamba 8GB
PSU: Corsair RM 850W

Operating System:
Windows 7 (64-Bit)

Can anyone determine what the sound is? and what I should do?

Many Thanks as always, Chris. :wave

Answer:Buzzing Noise when playing games

Try routing your audio cable as far from your video cable as possible . . . sometimes a poorly shielded cable can cause interference or receive interference from other data cables. The fact it only happens when you are gaming (i.e. heavy graphics usage) indicates this could be the issue.

I've also read where someone solved this type of issue by going from 16bit to 24bit audio . . . but I have no direct experience with this.

What brand computer is it? Anything on their site about such an issue? If a custom build, check the motherboard site and web chatter about the board for mention of such an issue.

I have just purchased my OMEN by HP Laptop PC - 17-w033 from Best Buy.  One of the reasons I bought it was the reviews I read about the low fan noise.  Well every single game I have tried the FAN Starts spinning loudly. I have changed the CoolSense settings with no change.  Regular use of the laptop and it is as quiet as a mouse.  Therefore is it the GPU that is installed or something else?  Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Hello, I've bought a Lenovo y700 ideapad 15isk 3 days ago with Windows 10. The problem is, when I'm "playing" for example CS GO,  or Hearthstone my ping is jumping from 40-50 to 1700 or even 1900 almost instantly and the game is unplayable. The weird thing is when I'm surfing the internet the ping is normal (25-30). I've tried almost everything to fix it, from changing Windows options (turning off P2P, and all the stuff that might have influence on the ping) to changing options in my network card which is Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260. Have you got any ideas what can I do with it? Sorry for the grammar mistakes I might have done, but I'm not native english speaker.I'll apriciate every kind of help from you guys.Hoping for fast responds

I would like to know how do i reduce the fan noise when i play any games. I doubt its because of there are many dusts in my fan. This laptop is just 1 week old. That loud fan is annoying and worries me and i wonder is there any way i can change the settings of my fan or what do i have to do to reduce the fan noise.

I tried advanced power settings in the Intel Thermal Framework Settings and the system cooling policy and it seems like there is no difference.

I am using HP Pavilion 15 ab-071tx

Intel core 5th gen i7 processor, 2.4Ghz
8GB Ram
GeForce 940M

My bios and windows is all up to date. Any help to the solution would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Answer:Loud fan noise when i start playing any games.

If new I would consider a replacement. Some laptops are just noisy, yours is pretty high end graphics wise and may need the fan to run at high speed when playing demanding games. They generally don't have the best cooling.

Do you have the latest drivers from HP site? There may even be an updated BIOS that addresses the issue.

I've noticed a high pitched whining noise that sounds like it is coming from the power supply/GPU, both being less than a month old. The weird thing is, it only makes the noise when I am playing a game, for instance if I tab out, the noise will stop and if I tab in it will start again. I've mainly noticed this on a game called League of Legends which doesn't have high requirements anyways. It's just annoying me and I'd like to know if there is a fix. I'll list some components below, ask if anymore are required.

GPU: MSI 280X 3GB Gaming Edition (Twin Frozr IV)
PSU: 800W Storm Silent
Mobo: MSI B75MA-P45 MATX
CPU: i7 3770 3.4Gh/z (oced to 3.9)
RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX Blu

Answer:High pitched noise only when playing games?

lewis1188,
Welcome to SF. Could the noise be coming from the Twin Frozr?

Hello I have have installed a new Geforce Gtx 660 Ti and now when i open CC or World of Warcraft I get really bad feedback noise but if I downsize it the sound goes away if I open Itunes I can faintly hear it but not as bad as the games (wow is the worst) . it does not matter if the sound is on or off for the games I still hear the feedback buzzing noise? Geforce techs are clueless. 38 days past purchase so i guess i am stuck with this video card. I can use my old video card and it is fine NO noise at all

thanks for any help

Answer:New Geforce Gtx 660 Ti Have bad feedback noise when playing games

Hi, what PSU (power supply unit) have you got?

try to re-intall Nvidia drivers.
What type of noise is it?
Is it related with the GPU fan?

Hello! I've recently (and for the first time) built a gaming computer. For some reason, however, when playing recent and hardware-intensive games like Dead Island Riptide and Witcher 2, I get through about 5 minutes of gameplay before I start hearing a strange buzzing/stuttering noise through my earphones - accompanied by the screen freezing, making it hard to alt-tab or bring up the task manager. If I leave it in this state for too long, then the computer will bluescreen and restart, with some error along the lines of DRIVER_OVERRUN_STACK_BUFFER.

It's very strange, especially since I do not get this error on other games like Mount & Blade: Warband and even Red Orchestra 2 is fine (which is one that I think would cause problems, being quite hardware intensive itself).

Does anybody know what this error from the BSOD means, and perhaps how I may fix this error? One other thing it may be is that when swapping my GPU, i dropped it in quite a cringe-worthy fashion (if you can imagine) - so it might be this.

I'll post my specs here if this helps:

CPU: Intel i7 4770
Mobo: Gigabyte z87-D3HP
PSU: Corsair hx750
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16gb (2x8)
GPU: GTX 660 Ti

For those of you out there thinking of posting "google is your friend!111one LELELE" - I have googled the problem! Hello All,

I have built my own PC and I've been facing random freezing with buzzing sound issue while playing almost all games (Battlefield 3, Assassins Creed II and Revelation, CoD - MW 3, and Black Ops, Batman Arkham City and recently Saints Row 3) this freezing issue is really random and can happen anytime during gameplay.
I've updated all drivers (graphics, sound, BIOS etc). One thing to note is some of these games work without freezing for hours when I set Affinity to two CPUs but when I start playing Saints Row 3 with Affinity set to 2 CPUs the games becomes very slow and if I increase CPUs then it freezes after few minutes. I've tried to reseat the heatsink with thermal paste added two cabinate fans one blowing out and one in but this has not solved my problem.
I ran HWiNFO64 tool and saved log file of various readings while playing Saints Row 3 when freezing issue happened and I do not see any heating problem.

I would really appreciate any help to solve this issue.

And I could not get the games to open (I got various errors - Blue Screens).  I did however see that the problem is form the Intel graphics (it will not update - it remains with version 20.19.15.4474, even though on the Intel website there are a couple of updates available). I tried some updates but the computer keeps crashing.  Anyone has any clues as to what I can do ?  I'm attaching a dump file from FM 2017 game ...

Hi,
It's been a year and a half since I built my and after the initital construction I've had very few problems. The past couple of months however I've noticed the fans gets really noisy when playing games.
So I opened it up and gave it a good clean for the second time since purchase, this time giving it a more intense clean taking parts out to get at them properly. It took quite a lot of cotton buds to get rid of the dust. Unfortunately the clean did nothing for the noise.
I have the stock CPU cooling fan, 2 blue LED fans and a normal plastic one (which has recently started wobbling after the recent clean so I'm probably going to have to get a new one anyway) and two small side fans. I was just on wasteland 2 and it was making the loud noise since starting up so I ended up putting my headphones on to try and ignore it and I realised at this point I should probably get to the bottom of it.
After restarting and entering the BIOS the CPU temperature was hovering around 44C, with the CPU fan spinning at 1600rpm and the two Blue led fans around 1200rpm. The plastic fan and one of the side fans are plugged directly into the PSU so I presume they're on full power constantly? The other side fan isn't connected due to lack of sockets.
GPU: Gigabyte ATI Radeon 7950
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K
Case: Zalman z11+. Near the bottom of the link it lists the fans.
Thermal compound: Zalman ZM-STG2 3.5g
PSU: Corsair CX500M
So basically I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to fix t... Read more

It is not coming from the tower either, the sound is coming from the top of the monitor (where the speakers are) and continues emitting when the computer is muted.
There is a continuous light buzzing sound but the sound is really amplified when playing steam games for example Skyrim, The Witcher, and Firewatch as shown in the video for some reason "lighter" games like Minecraft have no effect.
I've noted that on 0:20 in the video it does stop for a split second when changing the graphics settings
I am running Windows 10, have an Asus monitor and am using this aux cord: iXCC 3-Ft Tangle-Free Male to Male 3.5mm Auxiliary Cable
I thought it was the aux cord at first but I have tried using another one and the problem continues.
Thanks for your time in advance!

I've tried checking the event logs and there doesn't seem to be anything in there when the lock happens and the PC is completely unresponsive during the lock.

I've had this computer since June of last year and just recently in the past 2 weeks it has been making a very annoying buzzing sound (the tower not the speakers) while playing games. It is a physical buzzing noise. Not a "alert beeping buzzing noise". It's physical and annoying. It only happens when I'm playing games. When I tab out of the game I'm playing the sound is gone. All I have to do to make the sound go away is minimize the game. But it's really annoying having to deal with this while I'm playing games. Can you help? What are the main causes of this and how can I fix this in a simple way?

Answer:Annoying buzzing noise coming from tower only while playing games.

Answer:Hard lock, loud noise crash while playing games.

I am having the exact same problem. Tropico 5, Prison Architect, Battle Field, Guild Wars 2 at this point.

20 minutes or so in and It freezes. The only relevant error is the critical error in the logs related to the hard reboot. I have an AMD 7790. From what I can tell it worked fine before I upgraded to Win10 but I don't want to say that for sure was the cause because I was really busy with work for 6 months and did not play any games during that time (March through August).

I have:

1) reinstalled windows 10
2) ran Fur Mark for 8 hours (no crash)
3) Ran memtest86+ for 24 hours (no errors after 12 passes)
4)removed existing AMD drivers with DDU and installed the beta drivers
5) blown out the dust from every crevice of my PC (there wasn't that much since I have filters)
6) re-seated my GPU
7) scanned for malware with malwarebytes
8)cleaned my registry with CC Cleaner

The only thing that I have not done is adjust my timeout settings in the registry because I have not seen anywhere that doing so would solve this problem on Windows 10 (seems to be a vista/7 solution)

My last resort will be to buy an Nvidia GPU and hope that there are no issues.

I don't know why this is happening. Whenever I'm in-game and press my function keys (f1-f12) nothing happens. I only hear the sound that you get when opening an .exe file, or changing your sound. Some people have said this is because of the Windows 10 keyboard shortcuts, but I don't know how to disable them.

This is caused by a dying video card or a corrupt video card driver. Try going to AMD's support website and download and install the latest driver for your version of Windows. Pay attention to whether you have a 32 or 64 bit version of Windows

So recently this started happening.I have my Lenovo g50-30 for about 4 months now and it never happened before. When i started playing it was working fine no problems i turned off the pc went to sleep and next day this happened.I started playing and after 5 minutes of gameplay my screen turned black and my pc just turned off.I thought it was caused by overheating but when i checked the temperatures they seemed pretty normal. This happens every single time i try to play any game which i have on my laptop i even tried reinstalling Windows but sadly it did not work. The Laptop itself does not have a cooling fan which i do not understand.Any advices are very appreciated and i would like to get this thing resolved.I am not really handy with laptops so i can not really think of anything to do.

When I don't play the temp is around 55. I try to play CoD Black Ops 2 and the CPU temp grows in an instant and I can't play the **bleep** game. The only moment I could really play the game was when I used it outside, its winter, so the laptop was really cool. A cooling pad wont help with more then 10 degrees but it really is not enough. I've seen many people have problems with this processor i3 2348. GPU is 635m nvidia. It's so frustrating for a laptop to seem to be so good but actually be quite weak fro its price. The specs mean nothing if you can't use them. Since I don't think I can fix it I would like to know what kind of different processor I could update to.

You can try setting the maximum Processor state to 99% This can Prevent your system from triggering Turbo boost, which I believe is one factor of your system over heating and throttling down.
Follow this guide on how to get to the settings.

For your CPU upgrade.

Hi I have a serious problem and need some help. I have a Lenovo ideapad y560. It was working great until last days. It started to shut down suddenly while playing games like call of duty 5 or fifa 11. Interestingly, while the battery in and ac adapter is NOT plugged in there is no shutting down or power off, everyting is perfect. However, While I plugged in(whether the battery is removed or not), in any case, pc suddenly shuts down in 5 minutes. I have formatted my notebook but nothing has changed. I have not updated Bios, I do not know the version but it must be the first version. I tried to use it only with plugging with the adapter and removing the battery but it did not work as well. As I said, while the battery is in and ac adapter is Not plugged in, it works fine but when I plugged in it just shuts down suddenly in 5 or 7 minutes. The problem can be associated with the ac adapter, I do not know..Any ideas? Should I send the notebook to the Lenovo technical service?

I bought my Lenovo y580 with windows 8 and the recent IT fair. Supposedly this machine can play starcraft 2 on high with around 60 fps due to the Nvidia GTX660 However whenever I tried to play starcraft the moment I set the graphics to high the gme cashes and causes the entire computer to become unresponsive. I have also faced a similar problem with games like dota 2. I have already tried updating the NVdia drivers and setting the games to run on the Nvdia GPU. Can someone please give a solution cos I really put quite a it of money into it and its not working as I want it to. Being my first Lenovo product this is really a let down. Please assist ASAP.Thank you

hi larikrohail,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Your system might be experiencing Freezing lagging issue.
Sometimes it is caused by a background program that's using too much process.
You can isolate this by performing a clean boot.

I would suggest disabling the antivirus first and check if it going to improve. Some times a monthly or weekly Virus scan of the PC can cause slowness or freezing.

Best Regards,
Solid Cruver

My Lenovo Ideapad Z710 (Windows 10) works just fine most of the time, but when I try to play games, first some individual pixels and as time goes on the entire screen starts flickering until it?s almost impossible to play. If I turn off my graphics card, a NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M , it worked fine again. Now first of all, it would be nice to know whether anyone knows what the cause of this first problem is and how to fix it, as I would like to be able to use my regular graphics card when playing (enables me to play on a higher resolution). Added to that, I?ve now noticed that on other games, there is a flickering, without the pixel flickering first, no matter whether or not I deactivate my graphics card. Anyone have an idea where this problem could stem from?

Hello, I have been experiencing a very frustrating issue with my new Ideapad Y510 which I had purchased just a few days ago.  Minutes into playing games, my screen would suddenly turn black and my system would restart.  I have been conducting extensive research into this problem and notice that many others experience the same. As far as I know, all of my drivers are updated. Please look into this problem.  Unfortunately, I am very close to sending this PC for a refund.   Daniel.

Answer:Brand new Lenovo Ideapad Y510 crashing while playing games

Hi Daniel,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that your new Y510 Laptop is restarting while playing games. Please let me know if the system is restarting because of increase in CPU/GPU temperature increase also would suggest you to check using the Laptop on a Flat Surface to make good air ventilation and check if there is any Dust/Foreign particles stuck in the air vents. Please let me know the findings.

Hope to hear back soon

I've tried setting the battery settings to high performance, disabling the other graphic card (Intel HD something) and changing the Processor Power Management settings, but nothing seems to work. I don't know if this is entirely on-topic to this specific forum, but help would be appreicated regardlessly.  Thanks.

Answer:Why does my Lenovo Ideapad Y510P lag (whilst playing games), when it's not plugged in?

I'm not an expert, but as far as I know if the power cable is not plugged in then you cannot use the SLI, so only one card is working. But I may be wrong, correct me this case.

Hi, I bought Y700 Touch-15ISK Laptop around 1 month ago and i noticed 2 thing that kind of bugs me. First problem is very simple to explain but doesn't seem that easy to solve, everytime the laptop is plugged charging if you touch it you can feel static electricity . How bad can this be to the computer? Second thing, after i turn of the computer if my mouse is plugged-in i can see the mouse is still on due to the light under it. Is it normal? Thanks for your time and help.

Answer:Y700 Touch-15ISK Laptop static electricity

Hi Luis and welcome to the community,

Try plugging your adapter into another outlet.  If the outlet that it is plugged into isn't properly grounded, that could cause the shock.

If this is a wireless mouse with a dongle, it is normal for it to be on if the dongle isn't attached back to the mouse.

Regards,
Dave

Has anyone else noticed this unusual phenomenon ? When running on the battery only, I get a mild static discharge sound from the speakers about once every 15 minutes.  It does not happen when plugged in.  I noticed that Lenovo has engineered in numerous ground/bonding points inside, including static shields over the hard drive and RAM.  I've not seen such extensive grounding and shielding on the other laptops I've owned but I've not had static problems either on those other laptops.  In the end, all this engineering seems to have a downside when the static does not have an escape path (the ground plug of the power cord) when just running on the battery. I guess I will be running plugged in whenever possible as it is not a good thing to have static build up in any electronic device.  The speakers appear to be taking all the abuse, but who knows. I've also noticed that the cooling fans are more stable when plugged in.  On the battery, I get more surging of the fans.

In searching the forum, the problem of a static discharge with your model doesn't appear to be a common one.  I would recommend you contact Lenovo Support for additional warranty assistance.

I have lenovo y410p. While I was playing dota2, it has message alert "display driver stopped responding nvidia" this game will shut down and also in csgo game. How to solve this problems.

Answer:Lenovo Y410p display driver stopped responding nvidia while playing games

Hi God,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing.

Firstly, which operating system is running on your laptop?

This error occurs when Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR) feature detects that the graphics card (GPU) does not respond within a period of time and reinitializes it with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM).

Reasons could be:

The display driver is outdated, missing, corrupted or broken.
Your video card is very old and there isn't a fully compatible video driver for your Windows OS.
There are too many programs running at the same time in the background, which causes conflicts.
It takes more time than permitted for GPU to display graphics to your monitor.

Please refer to the below link for better understanding.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Regards,
Shashi Kumar

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Seems there is a space between the electronics beneath the surface.  When tapping the surface there is a resonating or clicking sound produced.  Hard to describe but unlike any other touchpad I use.  Can this be normal with Synaptic?

Hello again everyone !Since building a lovely quiet PC I've noticed there's a continuous low 'static electricity type noise' coming from my CRT screen !It's only really noticeable late at night when all is quiet but I'm on the quiet PC holy grail!I was just wondering if TFT make this low pitch noise as the technology is different ?I'm guessing from the one laptop that I used briefly, that TFTs are completely silent ?

Answer:CRT VS TFT Static Noise ?

My TFT is completely silent. But then I never noticed any noise from its' CRT predecessor. If you're looking for an excuse to buy a TFT then this is original but will do quite nicely!
