Satellite Click 10 LX0W-C-104 Windows 10 - Plugged in, not charging issue

Question: Satellite Click 10 LX0W-C-104 Windows 10 - Plugged in, not charging issue

Hi, i have a click 10 that has recently started saying it is 'plugged in, not charging'.

Both batteries are available, and the dock battery is at 100%, whilst the tablet battery is discharging and will not charge in windows from the cable or the keyboard battery.

it also says 'plugged in, not charging' whether i take the cable out or leave it in.

i have tried the 'remove accpi drivers' trick, and i am running the most recent bios 1.7.

One strange thing to note is that undocked, the tablet will charge as normal, but when i remove the cable it stops charging as expected but still says 'plugged in, not charging'.

really confused with this and not sure what else to try.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

also to note is that it charges perfectly fine when switched off using the supplied charger.

Hello all,
I have recently acquired a Satellite Click 10 LX0W Toshiba notebook.
The specifications says that it is compatible with micro SD with UHS-I (max. size: 128 GB)
According to SD Association, the Bus Mode UHS-I is compatible with UHS Speed classes 1 and 3 (http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/speed/)
However, the card I bought (Kingston 64 GB, micro SD XC I, UHS speed class 3) does not work properly in this notebook but it works perfect in other devices.
The card is recognised by the Satellite Click 10 but reading or writting is extremely slow and often give error messages. I cannot even format it using this notebook.
I think there is something wrong with the Toshiba notebook but can you give me your opinion please?

Thank you!
Regards,

Answer:MicroSD does not work with Satellite Click 10 LX0W

Same here

Toshiba click 10 with windows 10, micro SD card 64GB Kingston Class10 (UHS-1) does not work. Card is detected allright - can see it in Storage Manager, but can not format it. If I format it in some another device, Toshiba click 10 can not use it - it can not write to it - it will destroy ntfs/exFAT FS on card. Event viewer is full of SD card related errors.

Any suggestion here, please?

Driver is from 2006 (on windows 10) but can not find never anywhere.

Hi!

I just bought and Toshiba Click 10 Hybrid computer, but after using it for some time the sound starts crackling (will post a video when it happens again). Disabling the device in the playback devices, and enabling it again fixes the problem for some time, restarting the windows also fixes it. Also, it happens in the device speakers and in the headphone jack.

The user in this review, also reports the same problem.

Does anybody knows a fix for this problem.

Hello everybody.
I am new in the forum and i also have to admit i do not have a clue about laptops. The problem:

I have a SATELLITE CLICK 10 LX0W-C-104 with Windows 10. Although i do not have files and the total capacity of any programs that i have downloaded as extra is very small, approximately 5 Giga, i can not download the windows updates. It appears that i do not have enough space. Can i replace the 32 Giga SSD with something of bigger capacity like 128 GB? Someone told me to use a micro-sd card but is this only for files, like documents or images? Or should i just leave the windows not updated??

Any response will be helpfull

Thanks

Last year I purchased a Satellite C660-1G3 laptop from UK; even today, I am using the factory settings, and running the originally installed Windows 7 OS. The following is the issue that I started facing yesterday onwards:
- Even when the battery is well-plugged and the laptop running, the Power Meter indicates a falling charge level, with the "Plugged in, Not Charging" notification. The orange LED keeps blinking

- However, when I completely shut-down the laptop, without touching anything (not even touching the adapter or the power cord), the orange LED indicating battery charging process stops blinking and becomes stable

- On re-starting the laptop, for about 1 minute or so, the battery appears to be charging (orange LED not blinking and "Plugged in, Charging" message). However, soon the orange LED again starts blinking and the nuisance message again comes up

A couple of things:
- the battery seems to be working fine and charging properly when laptop is shutdown (in fact, till a couple of days back, the battery used to show 2:30 hours of time available on 100% charged level)
- is there some issue with the Operating system? no idea on that

can experts help me in resolving this issue? I do not really want to approach the Service Center due to long distance involved.

regards
- Biren

Answer:Re: Satellite C660-1G3 - "Plugged in, Not Charging" issue

Hi Biren

Not sure if I can help you but I would like to provide you some tips.

1) Check if your BIOS is up to date. If Toshiba European driver page provides newer version, then update the BIOS. Additionally set the BIOS to default pressing F9 and save changed pressing F10.
2) Try to calibrate the battery. To calibrate the battery you should discharge the battery completely and charge the battery again. Repeat this procedure 2-3 times in the row.
3) Remove the battery and AC adaptor and press power button (30 sec long) then connect both parts and check if the LED would start blinking again.

Finally I think that the notebook should be tested using new, good working battery. But if the issue would still persist, then I would assume that your motherboard might be affected.

Hello,

I seem to have an issue with the 2nd Battery on my Click 10. The notebook is about 1 month old. The 2nd battery is always at 100% and never depletes, so I only getting approx. 40% use out of battery 1 before it turns off. It does not give me a low battery warning as it normally shows around 55-60% remaining. I have looked at the handbook and believe that the 2nd battery should be used 1st but this does not seem to be the case on mine.
Has anyone had this issue before and if so how did you resolve it?

Many thanks for reading.

Hopefully there is someone out there who can help.

Hi all,

I have some serious looking charging issues with my new (6 weeks old) Satellite click mini.
It seems to be a new addition to an already long list but I had a look at previous posts and could not find the same problem.

The battery ran out about a week ago and I only connected it yesterday evening to charge overnight (I was on holiday ). This morning I tried to start it and it won?t start at all. The only thing it shows every 10 to 20 seconds (without touching the device) is the charging screen. If I believe the screen both batteries are empty but the tablet battery is charging (now for 5 hours without a change in status). It still won?t start when pressing the power button.

Did anyone have a similar issue? Could it be that my battery is just very deeply discharged and patience will solve the problem? Any other recommendations?

The BIOS is upgraded to 1.7 since I had all the other described charging issues at the start and it seems to have fixed those at least.

To be honest I am getting a bit fed up with it. I really like all the benefits of the device (size, tablet detachment, USB connection etc. ) but the list of problems really gets a bit long?

I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance.

Sas

Answer:Satellite Click Mini L9W-B: new charging issue?

I hope you resolved this. I had the same. The problem seems to be that the unit is switched on and there is not enough power via the mini usb to both run and charge the batteries at the same time.

The solution was to hold the power button down for 15 seconds to ensure a forced switch off then leave to charge and check after a few hours by a very short touch on the power button, not enough to switch it on. Hopefully you will see some charge in the screen battery.

Hello all, Now I've checked other forums about how to fix this type of issue and nothing seems to be working for me. Whenever I try to disable/uninstall Microsoft ACPI-Compliant, it will enable or reinstall itself whenever I reboot. And the only way I can uninstall it is through it being disabled. My battery is stuck at 24% as I've also tried to change the output through energy management. I did seem to fix something as the light to indicate that the power source is in now lights up, however, it still blinks from time to time. It isn't a problem with the outlets. And whenever I remove the AC, the machine shuts down entirely. I've also tried to update the BIOS but I cannot because my battery is below 30%. So anythoughts?

Hi I had issue with battery for a while... when charger is plugged in it says plugged in, not charging. When I test battery with UEFI it says Faliure ID: GQ939Q-8GH9KH-XD7WMF-C0DQ03. I've sent laptop to verified HP service and they changed battery. When I've got the laptop back the battery issue start happening again. They told me just to update BIOS so i did and motherboard broke. I sent laptop again for a service. They changed motherboard ant told me battery issue isn't happening any more. When I've got laptop back it started happening again. Bottom line, new battery, new motherboard, latest BIOS and plugged in, not charging issue keeps appearing.Tried installing new battery driver also, didn't helped. Do you know what might be a problem?

Have a HP Pavillion G Series and it's a little over 3 years old.  I started getting the "plugged in but not charging error" for a while, and I wasn't too stressed cause I would just keep it plugged in most of the time, but now the battery is completely dead.   I've tried the the fixes for it but nothing helped.  Every so often if I unplugged it and pligged it back in it  would charge for a couple of minutes then stop, unfortunately once the battery got below a certain point if the laptop became unplugged it would just shut off.   Not sure if there are any more troubleshooting tips for my specific model or if I should just replace the battery? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, all. I have had my Ideapad P400 for a few years now and i have never encountered a problem like this one. I just recently upgraded to Windows 10, which i actually like a lot, and all of a sudden, my battery says "plugged in, not charging." It will only charge up to 59% and it dies very quickly. I thought it was the battery, so i bought a replacement and installed it. It did the same exact thing. I've tried doing a battery reset in the energy management window, i have tried downgrading to windows 8 again, and i have tried looking up different firmware updates that could potentially fix the problem, but nothing. If anyone has any idea on how to fix this problem of mine, i greatly appreciate it. This is really my last shot before i have to take it in to be repaaired. Thanks! -Frank C. (P.S. This is my first time posting in any forum, so i hope i didnt leave anything out.)

I tried for like 30-40 mins and it was still 0%, but after some time it started charging.

Hey guys, I hope someone can help me with this.

I bought a Satellite A500 approx. a year ago. Last night I decided it was time for an upgrade, so I looked at the new a500s. Put my current one up for sale online.Woke up this morning with a little problem.

When the power supply is NOT connected the laptop will NOT boot up. When I connect the power supply, while the laptop is still turned off, the charging battery light comes on for about 10 seconds then turns off. When I boot into windows, it says 34% remaining on battery, plugged in, not charging. I have tried every answer google has given me so far, I even restored my laptop to default.

Please help me, as right now my laptop is unsellable and frankly quite useless.

Cheers,
Erik.

Hi smokegfx,

What happens if you try to start the notebook with AC adapter only? Can you start the computer?

Probably the charging control on mainboard or AC adapter is damaged so the battery can?t be charged anymore but this you can test if remove the battery and test it with adapter only.

I've had this problem on my dell laptop as well, where the charger does not charge the battery.

What they did was send me a new charger, just more powerful or something than the one before. Was just wondering if there was a better way to handle this situation?

As the last time each charger kept on breaking and breaking. Also, if it is the only way, could someone link me to a page where I can find a charger?

Thanks in advance.

Why do you think this problem is related to charger? How long you want to change chargers?
I cannot say for sure but I presume there must be some problem with power supply electronic placed on the mainboard.
In my opinion this should be checked by Toshiba service provider.

How old is your notebook?
Is warranty still valid?

Hey people, well I been having this problem just recently now, I have a Satellite P100-286, Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium, and my problem is that after I?m using my laptop for a little while on AC power if I am charging it, it will stop charging and if I hover over the battery icon n the task bar it will say "Plugged In, Not Charging" and the battery life will not be 100%.

I also notice that when this happens the battery light on my laptop is not blue indicating battery is full (obviously), but neither is it orange indicating it is being charged, some times I notice the light flashes when this happens but not all the time. I have played games with the AC adapter plugged in, and sometimes the laptop has switched off and when I turn it back on and "resume windows" the warning message will show up saying 1% remaining etc.

Please someone help, and give me some advice on why my battery doesn?t charge sometimes, I have searched the net on this matter and people say it is not the charger or the battery itself but it is a hardware problem, please some kind and cleaver person out there help me please.

I KNOW THAT IS A LOT TO READ IM SORRY...hehe... BUT PLEASE HELP :p

You should know that it?s not easy to provide an exactly fault diagnostic without putting the hands on it.
What we can do is to provide some kind of suggestions?

So my opinion it could be a faulty battery? so firstly the battery should be checked.
If the problems will still persist then an power supply electronic malfunction could be possible?

However, the hardware must be checked and this can be done by an ASP in your country?
So it would be advisable to contact such guys and to ask for the help?

Hi there,

I have a a Satellite L655 Laptop, and it was working fine up until a week ago, when it suddenly displayed the message: 'PLUGGED IN NOT CHARGING'

After quite a bit of troubleshooting, I have tried many things including removing the battery and running directly on A/C power. Everything appeared normal from a mechanical point of view.

However, after also updating the driver software of all 3 components of the battery (found through the device manager), the only thing that works each time, but is very soon reversed, is actually uninstalling 'Microsoft ACPI-complaint control method battery.'

Firstly, I have no idea what this actually is...but i cant have to do this every day in order to get my laptop to charge. I cant always have a power supply when I need to use my laptop...can someone please help me as to what on earth has happened to my laptop, and what I can do to permanently fix it?

Thanks very much,

Anelia

Answer:Satellite L655 - plugged but not charging

Hmm? you could try to remove this Microsoft ACPI-complaint control method battery and could change the automatic driver installation for the device.
1. Click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Properties.
2. In the Tasks list, click Advanced System Settings.
3. On the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Windows Update Driver Settings.
4. Select Never check for drivers when I connect a device.
5. Click OK twice, and then close the System dialog box.

Now the driver for Microsoft ACPI-complaint control method battery should not install automatically.

But I guess this isn?t an best solution for you but probably only system restore would help to solve this issue.

Otherwise it could be an battery problem and this means that battery needs to be replaced.

Answer:Satellite L300 - plugged in but not charging

> Don?t want to buy a new battery for no reason

Well, so in such case you should visit one of the service points and should check the notebook with a new battery.
If it?s not battery issue, then I would assume the issue is related to motherboard problems?so this would be the worst case?

By the way: are you using the latest BIOS version on this notebook? Ensure that latest BIOS is installed. But if BIOS is up to date then a new battery should be tested.

Hi

For me it looks like a battery would be faulty.
Are you able to use the notebook only with connected AC adaptor?
If yes this would mean that AC adaptor is OK.
Fact is that battery starts losing the own performance after being charged for 400-500 times. So I would recommend testing the notebook using new, good tested battery.

Can you charge the battery while notebook is turned off?

Generally speaking if the notebook starts with charger plugged in the charger works properly and the problem must be the battery itself or in worst case the charging control on mainboard? :(

On Toshiba website I have found an interesting article:
[I have difficulties to charge my battery to 100%. What could be the problem?|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ35007K001ZR01.htm]

Hi,

I bought a refurb L750 from Curry's/PCWorld back in October 2012.

As soon as I got home, unboxed, and plugged in my laptop I noticed that my battery status was "0% available (plugged in, not charging)".
I tried restarting, unplugging/replugging, etc.

I took it back within an hour of purchase and the guy looked at it and "fixed it".
He said he looked on the Toshiba forums and saw there was some driver issue that caused this problem.

Problem is that this issue has come back as of today and I can't find the fix.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!

Answer:Satellite L750-22X - Battery plugged in, not charging

Hi

Did you try to calibrate the battery?
Disconnect the AC adaptor and keep the notebook running at battery power only.
The battery should be discharged fully.
Then connect the AC adaptor again and check if the battery would charge.

My Satellite L450D-11X (pretty new!) is plugged in but the battery is not charging and the battery light is orange. The life neither drains nor increases while using it plugged in. I tried to update the BIOS but not sure if I did this correctly. Thanks for any help in advance.

Answer:Satellite L450D-11X, Battery plugged in but not charging.

You can try the following:

1. Re-insert the battery pack
2 Unplug the computer from the AC adapter and turn it on. Let the computer run under battery power until the computer turns off, indicating that the battery is fully discharged.

if it still doesn't charge, it can be battery malfunction. In this case, you should contact the Asp (service center) to replace it. They will do it for free as you say it's still new.

I am running Windows 7 on a Lenovo Ideapad Y530. I recently got a new battery after having issues with my old one, and I've become a victim of the apparently common "plugged in, not charging" phenomenon. I have been successful in fixing the problem by shutting the machine down, unplugging, removing the battery, etc. but the problem recurs whenever I go into hibernate mode. Is there a way to fix this so I can start using hibernate again? Thanks.

Answer:"Plugged in, not charging" issue recurs after hibernating

Hello soynog,

Kindly try the following steps.

Uninstall the Lenovo energy management software and refix the battery.
Charge the battery to 100 percent then install Lenovo energy management software again.

The battary plugged in, not charging issue has been posted multiple times in this forum. The solution being taking the battery out, uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI-Coplient Control Method Battery, then restarting the laptop. I have done this over 10 times now, and it works everytime. However, this has become an everyday issue and I am looking for a permanent solution. Is there a driver update from HP or Microsoft exist which would solve this problem?  All of my laptops drivers are up to date as per HP Support assistant software, and windows 10 is also up to date.  Please let me know if there is a better solution. Thank you,Amitava

Hi Team,

Since last week I started facing this very commmon issue ''plugged in, not charging''. It began by stopping at 75% and then went on deteriorating and today morning it was 3% (and wouldn't charge). I have tried all the possible solutions mentioned here by reading the threads. Is there a bug with WIndows 10 or I need to replace something. Kindly help.

Here are the following options which I have already tried:
1. Removed the battery and switched on the laptop with AC supply and uninstalled Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and shutting down. Battery reseated and switched on - Didn't work
2. Shut down the computer completely, unplugged the power cable, removed the battery and let it rest for about 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, put the battery in its place, plugged in the power cord and restarted the laptop - Didn't work
3. Removed the battery and let it cool down for 2-3 hours. Put the battery back in its place and plugged in the AC supply and restarted the laptop - Didn't work

Answer:Plugged in not charging issue with Dell 3521

Check the system to see whether or not the AC adapter is recognized - F2 at powerup.  If it's not, in order:
Replace the adapter.  If that doesn't solve the issue,
Replace the DC power jack inside the system, and if that doesn't solve the problem,
Replace the mainboard.

Hi everyone,
I brought this laptop (inspiron 15 5557) on 29th December, it was perfect until yesterday. As mentioned on the topic, the message popped up on my laptop and I couldn't turn it on without being plugged.
When the laptop is plugged and turned on, the battery icon is black and it looks grey-ish. If I place the cursor to the icon, the message 'plugged in and not charging' appeared, and if I click the icon it mentioned '100% fully charged'.
I have tried to update the BIOS file and drivers through support assist. But the updates couldn't be installed properly somehow. Every time after reboot, the same version and type of update remains in the 'Driver and Download' section. Initially, I have seen BIOS update released in August 2015, and I have been installing it  for more than 5 times until another BIOS file which is released on 5th Jan.2017 appeared. Now, the BIOS file is installed (hopefully), but the chip-set update with same version and release date is still not installed yet after updating and rebooting for more than 10 times, which is:
- Intel Serial IO Driver V30.100.1519.7.A00 (Release on 27th August 2015) 11MB
Also, there is constantly an update notification coming from 'dell update', same as the chip-set file, I have been installing it for 10 times, but it is still here....
Back to the battery issue, I have tried to uninstall and re-install  the battery pack, but still without being plugged in, I cannot tur... Read more

Yesterday I've noticed that my battery is on 74% - plugged in-but not charging. Laptop is functioning ok, no problems.
Before this problem occurred, I've started it up, it was working for 10 minutes on battery, without charger plugged in.

Then it just shuts down by it self. I thought that maybe battery was low, so I plugged it back on. After a while I saw that it's not charging, I've plugged out power-it shuts down like there's no battery present. Tried to remove battery, plugged out cable from outlet, put battery back, cable, started it up and still nothing.. Today it's on 72% and still not charging... Laptop is 2yrs old. Battery was working great until now.

Please help if you know solution, thank you!

Answer:Re: Satellite A500 (PSAR9E) battery - plugged in, not charging

What to say?

Start notebook without battery and when the Windows is fully loaded put battery in place.
I presume battery will be recognized properly. Is the situation the same when this happen?

It will be interesting to know how it works with brand new battery. Just then we can say more about that. Is battery the problem or maybe power supply electronic?

It is not easy to say what is wrong there.

hi venketkumar,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Can you check the Lenovo Energy Management Software.

There is a mode there where the software will stop the charging at 58 to 59% battery charge to protect your battery

Maximum Battery life will let the battery work as normal, charging it to 100%
Optimized for battery health will stop the charging when it reaches 58% to 60%, showing Plugged in not charging

Let me know your findings
Thanks

Answer:Z500 touch battery issue plugged in not charging

hi lebanese,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

If you're following this article on how to fix the battery charging issue for the Z500 Touch but a "No battery attached" error appears, try to turn the computer off and hold the power button for 20secs. When done, boot back into Windows and check if the battery is now detected.

If same "No battery attached" error appears then I'm afraid this firmware update won't work as the battery or the connection of the battery to the motherboard might be defective (the battery needs to be connected for the firmware update to work).

I recommend you contact Lenovo and report the issue as you may need to send the unit for service.

Pretty much what it says in the title.  I have recently been needing to use my Notebook for extended periods of time, and I had found that, despite the laptop reconizing that the charging cord is in, it fails to charge while in use and only charges when the computer is hibernating or when then laptop shuts down. I've taken a look at the battery settings, including Conservation Mode which seems to cause this type of problem, but I've had little to no luck fixing to problem. I would really appreciate if someone could give me some advice on how to fix the issue, as it is getting in the way of my work having to use it for only an hour, then have it charge for an hour.

Hi Guys.

I have always had fairly good battery life out of my 18 month old laptop, but suddenly it is saying "0%, Plugged In, Not Charging".

The second I unplug the power cord it switches off (needs to completely restart when plugged back in). I have used the Toshiba PC Health software and it says my battery has good health.

I have ordered a new charger online (Waiting on it to arrive). But I suspect it is more of a software issue - I just don't know WHAT? Can anyone help out? My computer took it upon itself to update to Windows 10 this week, but this was happening prior to that, but now I am dumbfounded on where to even find anything on this dumb system and my head is going to explode.

Replacing the battery is not an option due to funds - i'll deal with that if I have to down the track.

So anyway, in the meantime can someone please recommend something I can do? I have read through the forum and through google but the sudden upgrade to windows 10 has made it really difficult (and used all my mobile data, making it an expensive, unwanted upgrade!)

After changing my laptops hdd i am unable to charge my battery chk the following setting and the power daignostic report

Answer:(0%avaible plugged,charging)Power Efficiency/Battery issue

Have you tried removing all power, then removing the battery, and then pressing and holding for 30 seconds the laptops power button. Refit the battery and try again.

Is the battery an original type supplied by the laptop manufacturer ?

Although I don't hold much hope, you could also try uninstalling 'ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery' that you can see in control panel and then clicking 'scan for hardware changes' on the top line in device manager. Don't uninstall anything else.

Often these problems are down to faulty batteries.

Has any in the forum encountered this issue ? Any help is greatly appreciated.

hi prad,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

 Can you try the following:
1. Turn off the computer but let the AC adapter remain plugged-in.
2. While the computer is off, let the battery charge for about an hour or two and observe the light indicators. When finished, turn on the computer check the battery status.

If the battery still stays at 4% and the battery notification is still "Plugged-in, charging" then I recommend you contact lenovo and report the issue as you most likely need to get the battery replaced.

Hi,

the click mini had a micro USB, and a full size one on the keyboard

I prefer ethernet to wifi

I have an adaptor that converts ethernet into micro USB, but then I can't charge via the same socket.

Is there an alternative?

Thanks!

Answer:Using both Ethernet and charging Satellite Click Mini L9W-B

not really.

there's nothing wrong with wifi speeds, 54mbit/s is more than enough, if it's slow over wifi it's not a problem with the wifi.

I have one more question:

I noticed, that in the first 5 months the charging time for my Satellite click mini was about 6-8 hours for both batteries. Now it need much more time. Currently it is loading since 13,5 hours and the keypad-batterie isnt still fully load (I will post the exact ending time later...).

Is there maybe a problem or is this normal? I mean the charging time has nearly doubled...

Thanks in advance

Answer:Charging time for Satellite Click Mini L9W-B

As far as I know battery reach the best performance after some time of usage…this means that the battery must be charged and discharged several times to reach the best level… but this means also that the battery charging time would increase…

So from my point of few there is no reason to fear that something could be wrong with the battery… you know…

Hi,

I just recieved my Satelite Click Mini a few days ago and there seems to be an issue with the battery in the keyboard.

When I received the laptop I fully charged it and all was fine. I have been using the laptop frequently and noticed today that the main battery was down to 3%. I assumed that the power would revert to the 2nd battery but it did not and shut down. I then recharged and powered it up however the charging seemed to stall at about 40%.

After checking the forums I thought that a bios update (to 1.7) would solve this however it has not and other issues have flagged up. The first battery charges very slowly and seems to stall at 70% the second battery is showing at zero percent (before update it was at 100%), it also states that its plugged in and not charging.

Also, and i don't know if this is linked, but I found it extremely hard to type in this forum as the screen is flickering and I have to wait after pressing each key. I have had to post this on another laptop.

Any help would be appreciated, I am worried this laptop needs to go back to the factory.

Many thanks

Answer:Satellite Click Mini L9W-B - Battery/Charging issues

There have been a few ideas thrown around here in the forum. Easiest thing to try at this time would be to leave the tablet AND keyboard plugged into the wall to charge overnight. If the notification centre is still showing that it's not charging you might have to try a (maybe several) cold reboot (hold down the power button for 5-10 secs while tablet is on) to try to fix it. I would also ensure that Windows Update is up to date.

I'd just like to pitch in just for sharing's sake that BIOS update 1.70 increased my batttery life immensely. I was having to charge the tablet every night, now I can go every other night.

Hi, I've bought the Click Mini and have been setting it up for my personal use today. However I noticed the keyboard battery isn't charging. I have upgraded the bios to version 1.7. What I see now is that the Tablet is charged, which is good, but the keyboard is 'charging' according to windows, but it also only stays at 0%, thus not charging for real. I do also hear a high pitched noise coming from the keyboard when it is trying to charge. I have only tried to let it charge while it is in sleep mode so far. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Cheers

Edit: Another thing I want to add: When I first opened the box containing the laptop, I had to completely charge it first before use. It was not possible to start the laptop without charging it first.

So, I have installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 on my Click 10, which I have come to regret.

I have been unable to install sound and wireless drivers

I'm downloading drivers from the Toshiba driver website, putting it on the laptop and running the install. First the driver extracts, then a windows message appears asking if I want to run program, I click yes, then nothing happens.

CAN ANYONE HELP???

Even if someone could use Double Driver (a program that allows the backup of drivers) to backup the drivers and email them to me, I would owe you a massive favour.

I've also tried install Windows 8.1, but the exact same thing happens

Appreciate any help you can provide.

Things have been good with my Yoga 3 pro until this weekend. Battery life was a good 5-6 hours, but after a recent windows update it appears the battery will no longer charge. My second G50-70 laptop has an issue of not charging at all ever since i upgraded to windows 10, it's not the battery since the same battery charges well on my another laptop, it's not the power supply since it charges the other laptop. Answer:G50-70 - Plugged in, not Charging [WINDOWS 10]

This is probably due to an outdated or corrupt "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" driver. To correct: - Right Click on Start, and open Device Manager.- Open the Battteries section.Under "Batteries" you will see three items, one is the battery, one is the charger, and one called "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery".- Right click on each one and select "Update Driver" to obtain the latest driver.- Reboot and test If this doesn't resolve the problem, instead of selecting Update Driver, right click on the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery", select uninstall and reboot.  If the above steps fail, you might also try the following - Go to start- Lenovo Settings- On the side, select "power" (battery icon)- Turn OFF conservation mode.- Reboot. Good Luck

I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen3) Model 20BS touchscreen  running Windows 7 64 bit. The battery is not charging -- it's in a perpetual state of "plugged in not charging"  and even when plugged in, it?s losing appr 1 percent per day (down to 31%). This has happened a few times over the past 3-4 months since I got the machine, but I've managed to find things that "fixed" it (at least temporarily): - Resetting the power gauge worked once - Changing the custom battery charge threshold worked a few times - Plugging in the power cord at different stages of reboot seemed to fix it once (although not sure why / how) Based on previous thread posts, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Power Manager and then tried to run Battery Gauge Reset, but to no avail. And the reset only appears to run for about 30 sec before the system tray icon switches back to normal. Thanks in advance. Karl

I downloaded and ran the HP Support Assistant battery test and it said my battery was OK. The battery diagnostic tool ESC -> F2 is not in my bios cuz I did a clean install of the OS ...? How can I fix this plugged in not charging error. I'm at 73% battery. I unplugged the AC adaptor from the wall and then took a paper clip and shorted the DC plug with a paper clip. Didn't help. Please help. Thanks!

I've had this computer for about a year.  Bought it used. Replaced the battery a couple weeks ago.  All of a sudden tonight I realized it didn't seem to be charging. I checked the cable, the plug, etc. Switched plugs - you get the point. Still getting the "Plugged In Not Charging" notification at the bottom right corner of the screen.  I saw a few other older posts about this problem but didn't find anything related specifically to the T420 and/or Windows 10.  Could someone enlighten me? Thanks! nodnarbz

Answer:T420 Windows 10 Plugged In Not Charging

Hi nodnarbz,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums!

Request you to perform the below troubleshooting steps and revert with the results.

Try swapping the power cord and battery if possible.
Try checking in settings whether there is a change in power plan or power option. Eg: check whether the charging has been disabled

Please find some of the Steps to check the power option in settings:

In the Control Panel, open up the Power Options. Open the plan settings and visually check that all are properly set. Be on the lookout for incorrect settings for the battery, display, and sleep options. For example, your battery settings may cause trouble if you have set the computer to shut down when the battery level drops too low and set the low battery level at too high a percentage. You can also assign actions like sleep and shut down when your lid is closed or the power button is pressed. If these settings have been changed, it's easy to suspect a power malfunction even though there's no physical problem with the battery or charging cable. The easiest way to make sure that your settings aren't causing problems is to restore the power profile to default settings.

Please post back whether the above steps helped you.
Thank you, have a good day.

Have an R61.  My battery isn't one of the affected in the battery tips sticky. I upgraded to Windows 7 a few weeks ago from Vista, and upgraded my bios at the same time.  I couldn't get audio to work on the laptop, so haven't used it until I fixed audio today.   Since I hadn't used my laptop since I just noticed, but the battery is at 0% and I have the plugged in not charging error.  I doubt this is a hardware issue since it happened right after a Windows 7 and bios upgrade.  Any idea what I should do?

My Hp Envy 15 x 360 PC running Windows 10 has had no problems with charging or maintaing charge before. About a year old, I woke up to see it at 44% while it had been plugged in all night with the message "plugged in, not charging".LED is blinkingI checked all cablesHP assistant battery check says: Primary Battery OK (0)Cycle count 225/1000Battery Age 723 daysTemperature: 30 degrees CFull Charge Capacity: 67%Current: 1793mATerminal Voltage : 12057mVStatus 80AC Power: YESThe most interesting (nerve-wracking) part is the notification says "plugged in, charging" while I run the battery check!!!!! And the charge percentage has gone up. So I keep doing checks to get some extra charge but it is only a few seconds, of course!

Hello, I have reinstalled Windows 10 Pro with the ISO image from Microsoft. I had to, because after installing Lenovo Companion and Lenovo Settings from Windows Store and updating all the drivers (and 2 BIOS updates), my computer stopped working. Now my computer runs on clean Win 10 Pro and with the latest Business branch updates only. Yesterday the dreaded "Plugged in, not charging" problem has started (I've experienced it before on my TP E430 and I had to change the battery there). The battery is stuck at 79%. I emptied the battery two times, but it didn't help. Any ideas what I could to? I'd appreciate your help. Thanks.

Answer:Lenovo G50-70 Windows 10 plugged in not charging

Hi acejavier10 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Initially , in such issue first to try is remove microsoft acpi-compliant control method battery .

Try uninstalling Energy Management and shutdown the pc,  unplug the ac charger and remove the battery .
Without battery and charger , press down the power button for 15 seconds to drain remaining power.

Place back the battery and charger and use the Novo button (Item 2 page 9 left side) to turn on pc.
Novo screen should appear offering BIOS set up . F9 to load defaults , F10 to save and exit.

Without the Energy manager , restart the pc and check .
You may reinstall it back from the support site under power management.

You can review the power checkout step guide provided here (page21-22) .

Update us how things go.

Answer:Lenovo G50-70 plugged in but not charging on windows 10

Hi rohitreddy77,

Thanks for Posting!

Try resetting the Battery gauge meter.
Turn OFF the computer and unplug the AC adapter.
Press the Novo or OKR Button to boot up with options.
Select Set up utility or Enter Setup
You should arrive at a page like this

Now Stay on this screen without the AC adapter plugged in until the computer shuts off itself due to power loss.
This will drain the battery to zero (May take couple of hours)

Now Plug in the AC and charge it till 100% and it should be good to go.

Regards
Solid Cruver

Hi all,

Laptop is a 5 years old HP Pavilion DM4-2153ca.

Issue started a few months ago when laptop was shutting down at 63% battery, and when I plugged it it would charge until 9x% and then say "plugged in, not charging".
In the meantime I upgraded to Windows 10 and the issue wasn't solved.
I formatted and did a clean install of Windows 10 and still not solved.
HP advised I revert back to Windows 7 as this is the "original" OS for my somewhat old laptop.

So I just re-installed OEM Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 that came with the laptop, and the issue got worse, now it shuts down at 96%.

I also uninstalled and re-installed battery drivers, didn't work.
I tested the battery in the HP UEFI Support environment and it passed, so I can't calibrate it.

At this point I don't know what to do, and I don't think it's a battery related issue because it never fully discharges. The laptop just shuts down before! Help!!

Answer:Laptop shuts down at 96% battery and "Plugged in, not charging" issue

This is battery issue, nothing relates to windows &or battery drivers, if any.

If you leave the battery plugged in all the time, with the main power on.
Sooner or later, battery will not be able to charge properly, as you encountered now.

The percentage you see may not be real, hence it may force the laptop to shutdown without warning.
There is nothing you can do, unless either get a new battery, or use it as home with main power on.

Answer:"plugged in not charging.." - driver deletion issue!!

I have userd the method on a few laptops, It is only partially succesful. But, Nomally on a reboot, it reinstalls itself unless you do actually have a hardware problem in your machine.

Hi Guys, I have had to change my battery, got a brand new DELL battery but I can't get it to charge...I'm running Windows 10 PRO. I have tried the fixes listed above but unfortunately NONE has solved my problem. Any suggestions?

Answer:XPS 12 9Q23 Power Charging Disabled / Plugged in, NOT CHARGING

Hi DAEMONROD.
Where have you purchased the battery from? Does the old battery charge fine when plugged in?
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Test another power adapter and check. If the adapter fits in loose, then the dc port needs to be replaced. You would need this part.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

I recently had my Qosmio F55-Q502 repaired by Toshiba.
Two issues were addressed and one is fixed.

However, the second was attempted to be resolved unsuccessfully.

When I attempt to play multi-media games such as Call of Duty IV, even if the system is fully charged, within minutes the system will start to blink the "backlights" and then when I see the charging icon, it says "Plugged in, Not Charging."

This really concerns me as I have read online many similar issues, but none of the solutions seems to work.
To have to restart the machine everytime this happens and your in the middle of a game, really stinks!
I even had it happening with SimCity4 which is an ancient game.

Any good suggestions on this?
They did replace the battery when it was sent in which seems to be what most people say needs to be done.

Answer:Qosmio F55-Q502 - charging icon says: Plugged in, Not Charging

Hello

If your Qosmio notebook was in repair I think you should not discuss about any issue on forums but make a pressure on service and clarify every single problem with your notebook.
Please do this because the warranty is still valid and now is the time to clarify everything.

I am not hardware specialist but it sound to me as some power supply electronic issue but I cannot say for sure. Talk with service. Try to clarify this with them. Be nice, be cool and everything will be ok.

Hello and peace on you..
I have a DELL Inspiron N5110 from early 2011
I was using the laptop correctly..The laptop was plugged in and the battery was charging..Then i removed the charger let the laptop on battery until suddenly the laptop shuts down without even telling me that the battery is low or even leaving some "emergency" charge on it (usually 7% or 5% i don't know)..I plugged it in to charge it again and open my leptop and i found out that the battery is not taking charge anymore!
I tried to see if the propblem is with the connector and tried to remove and put in again the charger and it ddid not work
i tried also to remove the battery and put it in again, it did not help
Now it is stuck on 2% of charge from 5 days and it's plugged in!
The laptop says that the battery is charging, but actually it is not charging and the charge level is the same from days
I looked up some solutions online like uninstalling ACPI microsof from Device manager and reboot the laptop..It did not work
"Jauge de batterie" which is an integrated software related to DELL, says that the battery health is good and that my battery is working properly
The laptop works fine with only the charger plugged in and battery out
PS: the laptop heats usually but i think it did not affect the battery at all since it was working fine and the charge took me about at minimum 30 min on high performance to be emptyed before this happens.
Please, i'm seeking for help
I hope you can ... Read more

Answer:Battery says: Charging, but it is not actually charging while plugged in and is stuck in 2% for 5 days !

First thing to check is wherther the sysetm recognizes the AC adapter - F2 at powerup to check that.
If it doesn't, try a new Dell OEM AC adapter - if that doesn't fix the issue, replace the DC jack board, and if that doesn't solve it, the mainboard.  Note:  you MUST use a Dell adapter - NOT a third party unit.
If the system DOES recognize the AC adapter, but won't charge the battery, chances are the battery is bad and will need to be replaced.
You cannot solve the issue without checking and, if necessary, replacing these parts.

i have been using this laptop for 2 years i get it from my friend .

from start it always charges battery upto 56 percent.

and i thought that there is problem in the battery cell and in few months battery backup becomes very short.

Yesterday i bought a new battery for my laptop but it is giving me the same problem which i had with my previous battery.

So this is not battery problem.

Things i have tried

1)Removing battery and uninstalling windows ac adaptor from Device manager.

2)Removing both battery and power Adaptor and pushing the power button for 20 sec if there is any residuel current.

Nothing has worked for me so far.

I would be thankful for your guidance.

Thank you

Hi ! Over the past two weeks I've spent my time troubleshooting why my recently (used) bought X240 is not charging the internal battery. Short timeline: 1. Bought used X240 in good condition but with dead internal and external battery - working well when using power supply.2. Came home and tested that thing -> both batteries show "0% - not charging" (with Win10Pro installed) *suprise, surprise*3. Ordered both new internal and external battery.4. External battery came 1.5 weeks ago. Installed it and worked like a charm (Battery 2 (external): X%, charging).5. Internal battery came the day before yesterday. Installed it and did not work -> "Battery 1: 53% - plugged in, charging - Battery 2: 6% - plugged in, not charging)6. Waited the recommended 6-12 hours like it was written in the "manual" to get it fully charged.7. Next morning -> Batterystatus unchanged (see point 5) ... It's stuck at 53%. Though the status says it's charging, it doesn't.8. Simply tried out what's going to happen when I pull the cable of the power supply -> Notebook instant off *hmmm*9. As the external battery was obviously blocked from charging by the internal (as it was not charged), I've taken out the internal battery again and et voila, external battery is charging again.I've tried to remove both batteries and perform the "Magic Trick" (press the main power switch for 30 secs) and I've also pushed the "reset" switch on the backside near the battery. Sadly without any result ;-(... Read more

Hi there.

This morning i was checking some things before i left home for the day, my cat jumped on my laptop, after he got off i straightened it back up on my lap and heard a click as the laptop screen turned black, the power lights over the button and the red power light were still on.
i held the pwer button down and rebooted, the screen lit up and showed a 'rtc battery low error' i pressed enter and went in to what it was telling me too i immediately pressed exit cause i had no idea what i was doing, the computer rebooted and went to windows normally i signed in and conneted to wifi then i noticed it wasnt charging, i put the charger in and it flickered then went dull, i realized it wasnt charging, so i restarted again, it was a little slow but when i went in to windows it took forever to recognise my Wifi and it would not charge no matter how i moved the cord. I decided to leave it until i got home (am not there yet) before i worried but when i sat it on the floor on its side it was charging, i laid it down and it wasnt then i tried it back in the previous position it wouldnt charge.

I know this is kind of an essay of a post but if anybody could give my any ideas or tips on what could be wrong, it would be much appreciated, thanksss

Recently bought a brand new Lenovo Z70 laptop, and swapped the HDD out for a SSD. I did a fresh install of Windows 10, using a USB I created from Microsoft's website. Now the laptop won't charge. It's telling me it's "plugged in, not charging". I have tried all of the solutions I have found so far, with no luck. When the laptop is plugged it, it doesn't drain the battery, but it doesn't charge it either. It's hovering at 59% right now. All drivers have been updated. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated. Thank you!
