Lenovo Ideapad 500 15ISK - Compatible SSD's

Question: Lenovo Ideapad 500 15ISK - Compatible SSD's

Hi all I want to replace my current HDD which has a capacity of 1TB with an SSD, preferably of the same capacity as I'm hoping I can just clone the drive before swapping it into my laptop. Which SSD's are compatible with the laptop? Are there any restrictions when it comes to the capacity of the SSD? Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So I bought  Lenovo Ideapad 700-15isk with GTX 950M 2GB DDR3 a couple weeks ago and whenever I try to play a game (any game, even from year 2009), my GPU starts overheating and when it reaches ~83C, it automatically downclocks itself to 405mhz. I tried to install drivers from scratch, both from OM and from Nvidia, and that didn't help me. I've also gone through a clean installation of Win 10, that didn't help either.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just got my Lenovo Ideapad 700-15isk on the mail today, bought it with freedos (I already have a retail w10 license I want to transfer to it). Last night I prepared my bootable w10 usb and tested it on my old laptop to verify it works. No problem. I can't get it to work on the Lenovo, no matter what Bios settings I choose. I don't really mind if it's UEFI or Legacy at this point, I'm reinstalling next week when I get my new ssd disk, I just want to be able to get windows in for now. My usb stick is formatted as fat32, with windows 10 64-bit, I got the ISO using the media creation tool from Microsoft, and put it into the usb with rufus. At first, I was getting a winload.efi error (with either uefi, legacy, legacy first, uefi first and all variations you can think of). I redid the usb, this time just mounting the ISO file and copying the files manually. Now I'm getting winload.exe file might be damaged or missing. The mystifying thing is that the installer boots just fine on my old asus laptop. It's been years since the last time I did this, so I'm probably missing something obvious. Can anybody guide me on how to get the windows install screen to come up on this machine? Thank you in advance.

Hi VNat,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

With secure boot disabled and boot mode on legacy (F10 to save) , try to review the steps for downloading the ISO and creating an installer with rufus GPTpartition scheme for UEFI (option 2).

My battery seems to charge very slowly when connected to AC and when I unplug I lose power in less than 20 minutes and the diagnostic says battery is in "Fair" condition and only charging at 41.38% of its original full charge capacity.  When I called customer service since I am still under warranty, they just said I could send in the laptop for repair which takes about 7 business days or go to a Best Buy for the GeekSquad to repair.  I went to Best Buy, but the Geek Squad said they would have to send it off for 13 days so none of this was helpful as this is my only laptop and I need it daily so to send it off for 7 business days would be difficult.  Are there any other options for repair that reduce the time significantly?  I can't believe Lenovo doesn't offer overnight shipping to expedite the process

Hello guys!I had a problem with this laptop and support center replaced MB. After replacement everything is working fine except there is no serial number and MTM programmed in BIOS (it just says INVALID). So, LSB and similar tools can not read serial number and take me to support page. I have SN and MTM written on the back, but I want them to be programmed in the BIOS. Support center told me they don't know how to do it and to ask Lenovo. So, here I am - asking  I flashed latest E5CN61WW BIOS version and I see there is WinFlash64.exe tool that came with BIOS. I'm pretty sure this tool can program serial number, but I'm not sure which option to use and how. There are many of them when I use WinFlash64 -help switch: dak, dss, dpm, dps, dvs and many, many more... Attached to this post you can see help output. So, what is the correct command sequence to write serial number and MTM? Thank you!

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad 700-15ISK Won't boot up

If that is a recent photo of you laptop in the BIOS, then that is a very good indication that the error is probably NOT hardware related, so sending it in to Lenovo would likely not resolve your problem.     Furthermore, the error you are seeing displayed is coming from the Window Operating system, and indicates that some important system files needed for Windows to start up properly are either missing or corrupted.     Typically such errors are not fatal, and can repaired or restored fairly easily by running Startup Repair, System Restore or running other recovery tools from within Window's Recovery Environment.  The last resort would be to backup any data you have stored on the SSD, and then Reset Windows to the default state or resetting the system to the factory default sate, all of which your IT person should be able to do. The error message usually would contain more information than just "Recovery  Your PLC needs to be repaired", so any additional 0x00000??? error codes or information you can provide would help direct you in the right direction.  Best of Luck,

Hello, I just purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad 110-15ISK and the volume is very low.  I have done the following:- Install the audio drivers.- Augmented the volume to 100% by holding FN+F3.- Augmented the volume to 100% in the Windows audio settings.- Disabled the audio enhancements. If I can't do anything else, this is very disappointing. My phone's speakers play louder than this laptop, this is ridiculous. So please, tell me there are solutions and that these speakers can actually play louder than what it is right now for me. Because right now I am about to return this laptop and go with another company. I know this is a cheap laptop, but I would still expect better because a speaker from the dollar store plays louder than this laptop. The sound is especially low on Netflix, and this is one of the reason this laptop was bought. It is a bit better on YouTube, but it's still disappointing. I tried running the Windows 10 Netflix app or running Netflix from a browser, either way, the audio is low.

Hello Lenovo Community!  I'm a proud owner of a Lenovo IdeaPad 700-15ISK. I like this laptop alot, even though I only got it a week ago. There is a problem, however. My touchpad is "jumping" at specific time intervals (approx. at a 3 second interval). The "lag" doesn't last more than 0.5 milliseconds, but it's really, really annoying. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling the Synaptics touchpad drivers (I use Windows 10). I tried the ones from Lenovo Support, then the generic ones. I also tried disabling PalmCheck. It didn't work. I tried disabling Realtek Audio Manager, as some people on these forums had a problem with the audio driver causing some kind of conflict, on other laptop models. But that did not work either. Then I installed Ubuntu, and the problem still persisted. I have this annoying touchpad problem even in boot menus! (like Windows/Ubuntu menus, before installing the OS).I opened up a program, which is incorporated into the Synaptics Driver on Windows, called MoodPad, which basically draws a line when you swipe your finger across the touchpad surface. I noticed there are gaps inbetween. I posted some photos to make things more clear. The intervals are fixed, no matter if you swipe the finger across or not. For instance, if you happen to swipe it 2 seconds after the previous "lag" had occured, the next one will occur after 1 second (there is a 3 second interval, as I said before), and so on. Here are the photos from MoodPad. The red circles rep... Read more

Since I opened the box I have had problems with this laptop.  I have seen a lot of people posting issues relating to the video card error - Lenovo has posted a driver solution for some models, but it has not fixed mine yet.  Aside from this error and the diagnostic failing, apps are constantly crashing, screen flashing non-stop on certain websites or doing certain functions, screen blackout, etc.  Hoping this is all related to the video card error and not some additional problem.  Anyone else having these problems?  Any timeline on the fix?  I have been trying to be patient but it's getting increasingly frustrating... especially with a $1000 brand new laptop...

I'm having some lag with my touchpad, about every 3 seconds. Searched around about this problem and did some updates on the driver.

Even did a factory reset, but same problem.

Anyone having similar problem and fixed it?
Read somewhere that it may have something to do with the Realtek HD audio software/driver??

Using external mouse for the most, but would be nice to have the option to use a functional touchpad from time to time.

Hi Mina,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

1)  Shut down the computer.
2)  With the battery in (but AC adapter removed), attempt to turn on the computer by holding down the power button for 30 sec. This should not turn on the computer.
3)  Remove the battery.
4)  Again, attempt to turn on the computer (AC adapter not plugged in) by holding down the power button for 30 sec.  This should not turn on the computer either.
5)  Replace battery, plug in the AC adapter, and turn on the computer.  The battery should begin charging.

I hope the above information helps.

So I bought this laptop 3 days ago. It seems like it has a charging problem. It sometimes charges when I let the laptop in sleep mode or close the lid. I sometimes get a full charge but then, when I'm using it, it just stops charging for no reason. To "force charge" it, I discovered that if I first unplug the charger from the laptop itself, then disconnect the cable from the power brick, plug it back in the laptop and connect the brick back again, it seems to charge for around 4 more minutes. I tried updateing the BIOS with the support from the official Lenovo support site (this one) but it does not work. I heard about the removing the battery and pressing the power button but I can't remove the battery.  The power brick and charger are original and seem to work fine. Should I try buying another charger? Please resond to this as I'm desperate. Thanks much !

Just bought the above laptop a couple of weeks ago, and beginning to get things setup on the machine. This is my first Lenovo machine, so I hope it turns out to be a good choice. I usually resize my drives on a new machine to have a C drive, a D drive for data and documents, and a M drive for all media files. I find that using the disk management tool in windows usually suffices for this purpose, but for this new machine, the existing partition seemed a bit different. (see attached image) Also, reading on these forums, I found many posts about One Key Reocvery not working after said partitioning is done. Have attached the current partition setup as it came from Lenovo. I find Lenovo's sizing of the C drive pretty unusual in that I would like to store data on a drive other than C. I am afraid that any attempts to resize or shrink the partition will result in OKR not working in the future, or other such issues. Also, the D drive has Lenovo drivers, which I can backup and possibly move into another folder, but is there any issue that might occur if I delete this to create the drives according to the partitioning I desire? In short, what is the best way to ensure that the OKR is not affected while allowing me to partition the C drive as per my needs.

I bought this laptop about 6 months ago because of its specifications, good price and I because Lenovo is a trusted brand. Now I have a serious problem with the battery. It only runs 4 or 5 minutes without AC power and then the battery is completely empty. I bought this notebook in New York (B&H Photo Store), but I'm from Brazil, and here we don't have this battery to buy and replace. I don't use a lot the notebook, maybe 1 time per week. I have another notebook from DELL, and it is 4 years old, I use it every day to work, and I can use it without AC power about 2 hours (original battery, never replaced before). I hope Lenovo can help me.Thanks. Leandro.

The part number on my AC Adapter is 5A10J46690, the one Lenovo lists to buy is 888015027, what I need to know (Which I can't figure out) is whether or not this is the same AC Adapter as the one I have currently, which does not work. Seeing as I can't find a single adapter matching the part number of my current one. To clarify slightly, my laptop is the Ideapad 700-15ISK Type 80RU00APUS. Apologies if I picked the wrong category for this, I'm new to the forums and majorly need the help.

Hello All! I have just gotten the Lenovo Ideapad 500-15ISK and have been experiencing Hardware Scan Fail within the "Mathematical Operations Test" of my Intel HD Graphics 520. I have checked support and other forums which have addressed this issue, but all these solutions have not worked for me. I read that this is a false positive and that updating the VGA would help, which I have done, but does not fix the solution. Could anyone please help me find a solution to my problem. Thanks.

I had this problem also with my same model 1 week old laptop. Tech support found a different driver on the Intel website that corrected the problem. But, I also am experiencing another odd and random problem that others have discussed which is a pop up window in lower left corner of screen that says the Intel Graphics display stopped working and Windows is trying to repair it.

Hey there, just got my new notebook a few weeks ago. Started using Skype yesterday, but there's an issue with the webcam. I mean, it works, but it's extremely dark. I tried tweaking the Lenovo Settings, but increasing brightness and contrast only makes it worse, the video loses color and kinda greys somewhat. Any ideas on what's wrong here?

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad 110-15ISK Webcam Issue

I haven't Skyped but have same PC a 110-15isk and also notice the camera produces a dark capture. Don't know if you could try reducing background lighting which maybe camera is reading off bright background? I noticed if I have bright light in background it makes my image more darker. Its not a great camera for sure.

Hi, guysMy lenovo is great. I love it, it is really fast and works smoothly. BUT.... when it is on battery and the battery level reaches 30%, the CPU automatically goes from 3.2GHz (single core), to 0.8GHz (single core). The Power management is always to High Performance. The only solution is to make my Windows 7 to sleep and then to wake it up. If I plug the AC - it's ok, regardless of the battery - always works fine. Do you have any idea, why that happens and mostly how to fix it??? Thank you! CiNEMAN

Hello. I have had my Ideapad 300 for several months now and I really love it except for one thing, the trackpad. Due to where my hand and fingers naturally sit, there is a spot on the trackpad that shows a little more wear than the area around it. In this picture ( http://imgur.com/bJovhqL ), you can see that there is an oval shaped region that looks a little different. The problem I am having is that several times a day (up to several times per hour), the trackpad goes nuts.  It doesn'ttrack my finger correctly and performs multi-finger actions even though I'm just using one finger.  It jitters around the screen if I try to use it, and I just have to wait for it to self-correct by staying off of it for up to 30 seconds.  If I look at the trackpad icon on the bottom right of the taskbar while it's messing up, the trackpad is registering multiple fingers. I'll use one finger, and the icon will display 1 finger, 2 fingers, 3 fingers, 1, 2, 1, 3, 4, etc.  Like I said, I just have to wait it out for it to go away.  And on one occasion, I noticed that even if I hovered my finger above the trackpad without actually touching it, it would still register fingers, like it was being super super sensitive or something. I've tried everything reasonable to fix it, tweaking the settings, uninstalling and reinstalling the trackpad, updating the drivers, using the OEM drivers, and nothing works.  It's getting very annoying, and ... Hi! As of yesterday, all three of my USB ports malfunctioned, and whenever I plug in anything new it says "USB device not recognised, The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognise it".  It also shows "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" with a yellow exclamation mark and "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed" in Device Manager. There's definitely power coming from the USB ports, just they don't respond to anything I plug in, such as my mouse. I've tried everything I can find online about the error, except updating my BIOS.  However, the BIOS that pcsupport.lenovo.com suggests for my laptop also gives me the warning message "This BIOS is only for Lenovo ideapad 310/510 - 14/15ISK(with touch).  Are you sure you want to update this BIOS on this machine?"  As I don't have a touchscreen, I'm not 100% sure it's the right one.  If anyone could please let me know which BIOS update I should install, or (even better) how to fix my USB issue, that would be fantastic.  Thank you!

hi all , i had bought the Lenovo ideapad 310-15ISK , 2TB HDD with windows 10 preloaded on it already . the performance of the laptop was extremely slow and bad , i made many complains and no one has replied,  finally looking into the problem i found out that the HDD is the reason being very slow and always loaded on 100% ... so i decided to go for an additional SSD , used the CD-ROM cuddy for adding a new 240GB SSD .  Question is , how can i change boot to be from the new SSD ? , and how to install windows 10 again on the new SSD ? i cant find the original windows 10 iso file or product key ..where does lenovo store the original windows installation files ? i cant clone the current HDD as i've installed many programs and size is beyond 240GB now so it will be extremely hard to clone it to the new SSD . i prefer to do fresh windows installation .. kindly advise what to do ?

So I'm planning on buying this model: Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15ISK, but the one I'm looking to buy doesn't have an SSD and doesn't specify which ports are still available, only that it has a 1TB HDD. So I wanted to ask: 1. Does it have a free M.2 port? all models of the Y700-15ISK should have them, or am I wrong? 2. Which type of M.2 SSD does it support? M or B+M? I already sent the same questions to the retailer, but I am still waiting for an answer so thought I'd ask here as well.

Hi, I have just bought a new Ideapad Y700-15ISK for my wife. It works fine with Windows 10, but there is a small problem. The shop where I bought it changed the original 1T hard drive to a SSD and installed drivers and Windows 10 on that, however it seems that most Lenovo software, apart from a few Lenovo drivers, are missing. I am wondering if anybody here can tell me what Lenovo software is usually shipped with this PC. The drivers are easy to find on the support page, but I don't find a list of other software packages. I suppose it is of interest to install the Lenovo Power Management drivers and applications even if the PC seems to behave nicely on battery alone with the Windows/Intel power management. I have already worked several hours on battery only and I still have 66% left. Any ideas of what is necessary and what can safely be ignored is very wellcome. Regards,Frode

Hi, I recently received an Ideapad 700 that came with 8gb of RAM and a 1TB 5400rpm HDD with Win10 installed on it.  Because 5400rpm is rather slow, I purchased a 128GB M.2 SSD and installed it correctly.  The computer can see it and recognize it. My issue is I am having trouble transferring Win10 from the HDD to the SSD and getting it to boot from the SSD.  It seems it just defaults to the HDD and I am not sure where I am going wrong.  Currently I have wiped the SSD and am starting from square 1. Could anyone please help me out.  I don't want to break my wife's laptop before I get a chance to give it to her.  thanks!

Hello, I have a 120GB SSD drive on which I would like to install Linux side by side with Windows that comes with the computer. On the drive I have several partitions, some of which I would like to remove to make room for Linux:260 MB EFI128 MB Reserved91 GB Windows C: (I already removed and merged into this one the partition that contained drivers)1000 MB WINRE_DRV18GB LENOVO_PART1000 MB LRS_ESP Ideally I would like to create 40 GB Linux partition from partitions: 6, 5, 4 and part of 3. I would like to preserve the following functionality:Be able to enter BIOS (e.g. change Boot sequence) with possibly broken Windows (I assume this is done by pressing the NOVO button)Reinstall and activate Windows which come along with the computer (I have no external installation media)Reading on this and other forums, I understand that functionality 1. is associated with the LRS_ESP partition 6, right? If I remove it, will the NOVO button still allow me to enter BIOS/change Boot sequence? If I understand correctly fixing Windows is associated with partitions 4. and 5. From what I read it should be possible to export the LENOVO_PART to external media (pendrive). Am I right? How to do it and how will bringing back the system to factory defaults look like with pendrive (I guess OneKey Recovery will no longer work)? Furthermore, it seems it is not advised to remove WINRE_DRV partition. But isn't its functionality doubled with LENOVO_PART? Best regards,Antoni

I have read older topics enough but haven't found a solution. Laptop is very quiet in idle mode but every time when I use browser (Firefox) and open a new tab the CPU fan starts spinning which is very annoying. I'm using Windows 10 and I have turned Windows Defender off. Also I flashed the latest BIOS (E5CN58WW) but so far nothing changed. Temps are around 35 while I post this but seems that SpeedFan can't control the fan. Only thing I noticed that when I open a new page / tab, CPU usage increases from 4 % to over 50 % depending on the page. Please, is there any solution for this?

I have upgraded my lenovo ideapad 510-15isk from 8gb ram to 12gb ram and the laptop origanaly said installed memory (RAM) 12.00 GB (11.9 GB usable) now after 4 days it says installed memory (RAM) 4.00 GB (3.88 GB usable)  how can I fix this I have tryed reseting the laptop and reinserting the new 8gb ram stick and swaping back to the origanal 4gb ram stick but nothing has worked and also cpu-z recognises the 8GB ram stick But I just cant use it.

Answer:lenovo ideapad 510-15isk ram upgrade not registering

I presume that you are indeed running a 64-bit version of Windows, since you had 8GB to begin with, so the 4GB limit of a 32-bit OS should not be an issue. If you enter Setup/BIOS, is the full amount of RAM recognized?    If so, save and exit setup and see if Windows will now see the full amount of RAM.     Try the same with your original 2x4GB configuration too.   If it is recognized by the BIOS correctly, then it is somehow being limited by the OS. This is a long shot, but it is worth checking.     Right-click Start >> Run >> msconfig.exeSelect the Boot tab, and then click on Advanced OptionsCheck the Maximum Memory box and if it displays the full 12GB, select OKSee if Windows now reports the correct memory.Repeat the steps above, but now uncheck the Maximum Memory box and select OK Good Luck,

I recently bought a M.2 SSD and I want to use it as a cache drive. Intels RST requires AHCI mode, I was under the assumption that I was already in AHCI mode but my inability to create any raid volumes through the disk management or have my drives recognized by the RST app says otherwise. There is no option to change my mode from IDE to AHCI in BIOS due to it being locked. How can I work around this?

Answer:Lenovo ideapad Y700-15ISK how to put into AHCI

Look in the device manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller, it should say Intel(R) 100 Series/C230 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller. For your second part of your question, you need at least 2 disk with unallocated areas to make a RAID array. But, saying that I would never setup a software RAID (ie windows) array and the BIOS doesnt support a hardware RAID

Dear  I have just purchased Lenovo Ideapad 310 15ISK. Notebok configuration is great, it is fast and body is good design but one thing bothers me, it is a screen resoultion 1366x768. The colors on the screen looks a bit pale, and the resolution is that way that you can see almost pixels on fonts and objects on the screen and icons are big. It reminds me on the resolution set by default when you just install fresh windows copy and hardware use default drivers for standard VGA display. This is how it was after installing fresh windows 10 home. After that when I installed offical Nvidia Geforce driver nothing changes in quality of display, like hardware doesn't detect driver software. I have never seen this in my time using computers. It is always that display quality somehow improves after installing a driver. Could it be I am missing somthing in settings, or this is just the way how it should work.  Thanks for help.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad 310 15ISK resolution issue

Hi PfeifferBL, Just like to ask did you also update the Intel Video Card Driver? Try the driver from www.intel.com if the one from support.lenovo.com does not improve the image quality. Cheer,

Dear Lenovo community. I have recently began to feel the effects of PalmCheck - the 'Palm Tracking' setting for my touchpad - after starting to play games on the laptop, which needs me to simultaneously use the keyboard and mouse. Initially I thought this problem could be fixed when going to synaptics settings for my trackpad, but I was wrong; the 'Palm Tracking' setting was unchangable in the 'Advanced' section. I know that I have the most recent trackpad driver, so what do I need to do to be able to alter the settings of 'Palm Tracking'? Thanks for reading, Zane
