YOGA 710-15IKB BSOD

Question: YOGA 710-15IKB BSOD

Hi, i bought this laptop with Windows 10 a couple of weeks ago and it ran smoothly for the first few days then it started to give me the blue error page. I did the recovery twice and the updates but the problem is still there. Fan is very noisy and the double finger tapping as right click doesn't work either. Any help? Thanks.

Preferred Solution: YOGA 710-15IKB BSOD

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... Question: Yoga 720-15ikb

Hello, i am thinking of getting the laptop above, but I have a few concerns. 1) is the wireless card in it already an intel 8265ac card? Is not, can it be upgraded with a FRU 01AX704? I'm not sure if it's compatible with the bios whitelist on this machine and my googling skills haven't come back with much! 2) what make is the SSD in this machine? Is it PCIE-NVME based? It only says 256gb. Can hard drives be replaced for any model or does it have to be in the whitelist like wireless cards? I'm hoping it's a Samsung pro 960 256gb! 3) I've also heard it's hard to install windows from scratch on these machines due to the controller for the hard drive being set to RAID rather than AHCI/NVME, which means windows doesn't detect it upon installation. I've heard there's a bios out there now which allows AHCI to be selected from the bios so it makes it straight forward enough (a lot of linux users wanted this!) but Lenovo have said it may cause issues with performance if installing windows through this way? Is this just Lenovo covering their backs or is this a genuine concern? any clarification on the bottom point would be great. thanks!

Lenovo support, thank you for bios solution for windows it's really helpful, but you forgot one thing. That thing is Linux users!! Instalation Linux for that laptop is like a developers quiz, you should become UNIX developer to start FREE Ubuntu on that device. After installation new issues - drivers. What`s going on, Lenovo? I can't use my fingerprint on it, cause no drivers!!!! And the most painfull for me: NOIZE from laptop, it`s like a reactive rocket, on battery it work just 2-3 hours(at the same time linux use less CPU and RAM). Hopeful you'll provide any solution for us (Linux users).  https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByHLDA4zXQ5eQXZEQVdfUWEwbDQBest regards,Bogdan

I have Sketchup Pro 2017 installed on my Yoga 720 laptop at work.  On paper it seems like this computer should be more powerful than the machine its replacing, but its performance in Sketchup is really slow.  It makes the program really difficult to use because its freezing and lagging so much.  I've run a quick diagnostic on the machine and it passed.  I also have run Sketchup with the task manager window open and it seems to be using about 35-45% of the memory while its running.  Is it a graphics card issue?  My collegue ran one of the same files I've been working on and it worked fine and her machine is in theory less powerful.  She is using Windows 7 however.  Could it be an operating system issue?  Any other ideas?

I started having a problem with my screen when I tried to install a program called Monosnap. At first my computer screen was completely white and I had a hard time seeing anything. I uninstalled the program and it got a little better. Virus scans said I didn't catch anything. I reset to my previous Windows back up point and it got a little better. It still had like a white film over the screen with like a halo of pure color around the edges. Then I reinstalled the display driver and that fixed the problem with the permanent white film over everything, except now it randomly flickers completely white, with verticle lines. I've included a picture.

Using both the physical and on screen keyboard I can't send this desired input. Driver reinstalls did nothing. The hardware is fine. I can even get (alt+fn+down) to work. This isn't a global hotkey issue as best I can tell either. Some reported issues included the Intel Graphics Control Panel intercepting these inputs, so I disabled its hotkey manager and the problem persists.

So, I too am reporting the ghost touch issue with my Lenovo laptop.  This is on the Yoga 710-15IKB model.  Same exact issue that others are reporting on the 700, 710, and 900 models.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled ALL drivers found for this model, updated drivers via Microsoft, have the BIOS update, made countless changes to the touchpad to see if it is the issue.  But, NONE of those things have worked.  The issue appears to happen randomly after waking up from sleep.  Usually within a few minutes after wake.  I can do NOTHING to stop the issue once it starts other than to hard reset the power button, then wait a few seconds and restart.  Once I've done that, the issue is resolved until... whenever it randomly wants to do it again... usually the next day. Lenovo... there has to be a solution to this!  You resolved it with a firmware upgrade on the older 700 model.  Can you work through the issue and get us a solution?  And, please, don't say to send the unit in for repair.  The issue clearly is a firmware issue.

Having issues with constant ghost touches on touchscreen. Have tried checking for updates, uninstalling/reinstalling driver. Ended up disabling driver. Tried re-enabling after a bunch of updates and there are so many ghost touches that it took over a minute to click the "disable" button and make it stop. Have seen previous models have had luck with firmware updates. Anything like that available for the 720?

I just bought this machine and the display color is rather yucky and washed out. I did play with color calibration in the Windows 10 settings, and was able to match my existing monitor by turning red and green way down and then cranking up the saturation in Intel UHD 630 settings. The problem is, the screen now gives me headache because blue is turned up relative to red and green. So now I'm looking to see if I have the right color profile to begin with. The color profile associated with the monitor was "sRGB display profile with display hardware configuration set to.." Is this the right profile for this laptop? I did search and I couldn't find the color profile for this laptop. Microsoft site says I need to get the monitor driver, not the display/graphics driver, but I don't find that either. Does anybody know where I can find the downloadable color profile for this model?

Hello, I was typing something today and hit a combination of keys that suddenly popped up the message "Autorotate enabled". I didn't know what I pressed but if it were something that I did not want I would not have any way of reversing it because I cannot find a list of keyboard shortcuts that Lenovo has. Is this available?  For reference Windows 10 has this list: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12445/windows-keyboard-shortcuts but it does not cover autortate, for example. Thank you

Hi there,  My very new Lenovo Yoga 710 (15" IKB) laptop/two-in-one has been fantastic so far except in one regard. Whenever I play a game, the fan gets quite loud and the temperature shoots up. I'm not one hundred percent sure if this happened in the first few days but I have come to notice it far more recently. When playing a pretty standard game, such as World of Warcraft, the temp will shoot up to somewhere around 65 degrees celsius (sometimes up to 70) with the bottom getting quite hot, and the fans will become quite loud. Even a very low requirement game, like FIFA 15 (which is obviously 2 years old now), can cause the temp to reach about 60 degrees and the fans to get loud, and when dowloading a driver from Nvidia I noticed that the temperature had again risen, this time to 52 degrees with the fans spinning loudly again. I had earlier had a display issue that I fixed by downloading diplay drivers from Lenovo's website. I'm not sure if there's any driver I could download to rectify this issue (I already updated BIOS from the download on Lenovo's website)?

Answer:Yoga 510-15IKB screen turning white

Hi, MP87 ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

If you get the white screen during POST but the display is fine on an external display then the cause if most likely the LVDS cable. Try to reseat or change this part and observe.

Hello, last thursday I got my brand new Lenovo laptop Yoga 710-15IKB. Everything went smoothly with the setup and the computer looked great was working fine. When I finished setting up some essential programs browser etc, and was watching a youtube video my laptop just froze, fan was running but the screen keyboard cursor frozen. I thought nothing of it and restarted my computer and nothing happened after that. So I thought I was free to enjoy my good looking device. But now after my third usage I closed my laptop and went out to run some errands I came back an hour later or so and tried to open my computer and keep on using it but to my surprise the screen stayed black. Completely black, no flickering or anything. So i tried to reboot it by holding the start button down for 10s giving the computer a minute or so to rest then turned it back on. Same thing happens Keyboard lights up for a second or two then the fans just keep running and the screen stays completely black. This is extremely frustrating since this is a brand new computer and I desperately need it for studying and work. Screen black, computer starts and runs I can hear the fans keyboard lights up at first but screen is completely black. I would appreciate a quick response Lenovo, I had so high hopes for my new laptop. Best regards, Elisabet.

Hi, I have this problem, which I also had on a 710-15ISK before I replaced mine with this model due to cracked screen. Intermittently, while "computering", the keyboard will stop working as expected.Only a variety of keys will work, like some mode has been activated by an accidental key press.Like I said, this happened on my previous 710 as well. It's frustrating because I'm learning programming, and the issue doesn't resolve until I sleep the laptop and unsleep it, which makes me believe it isn't some key combination I'm hitting, but rather maybe a jam of the keyboard. The same keys stop working each time, and same for the keys that remain working. If I can if it happens again, I will write down each key working/not working, but until then, does anyone have some insight on this?

Last week I spilled drop of coffee+milk on my trackpad and it stopped working properly (I know you think I must have actually dropped a gallon but I asked my friend to come over and open my laptop with me and after we opened it, he couldn't see anything -- he was skeptical that I had dropped any liquid whatsoever, so, yeah, it was a drop of milk+coffee on the wrong place..). The pointer was behaving erraticatly and my friend and I, not tech savvy but rational ppl, figured that it must have short-circuited. So I went to ebay and order a replacemente part. The trackpad came with the keyboard + palmrest. The trackpad seemed to be a perfect match. The palmrest was a little bit different. My laptop has the fingerprint reader but the one I ordered didn't have. I thought it wouldn't make any difference since I only wanted the trackpad. The replacement arrived. I swapped the trackpad, made sure all cables were connected (there's actually only one but you got the point), closed my laptop, turned it on and... the trackpad was still not working.  Does anyone have any idea of what I should do next? I took a closer look on the letters and numbers I found on the trackpad and compared the original with the replacement and there's one or two numbers/letters that are different but they are otherwise identical. I can't make sense of why it didn't work and can't think of what to do next. I'd really appreciate some feedback. Thanks,

I have come to my last resort, which feels like I have wasted money on this Yoga - It has taken me almost a year, I still don't have a clean event log and the only thing I have minimized is the locking up of the machine when the nvidea goes haywire.  Simple answer - on edge and explorer I force fed it the crappy Intel chip.  Now it's 'rev up' is limited.   I'm running Win10Pro 64bit. up to date on everything.  This situation has been since the first day I used this thing.  I can't trust it enough to use for work, so here it sits. just something to do nothing much with.   Is there a real fix for this that makes better sense than having a GPU that isn't used?

Currently I'm playing music on Google Play music which plays fine until I'm about to click on another page or go to the home of google play for example and it stutters for a few seconds. Also not sure if this is related, when I use my bluetooth speaker, audio stutters really bad, worse than when using internal speakers. Possibly two different problems but for now I really only care about the internal speakers stuttering as I rarely use my bluetooth speakers on my pc. Any hardware can be specified.

Hi, I just bought this laptop 2 days ago, and i really am impressed with how it performs. The only problem i've incountered earlier this morning is that some of the keys in the keyboard didn't work (the P,Z,C keys). I left it on sleep the night before.  After i restarted and remove my mouse from the laptop, it suddenly works again. My question is, is this showing some sign of malfunctioning keyboard? I don't want to always have to restart my laptop and doing all the steps above. Any advice?

Hello! In the past few days, my yoga laptop has been having this issue where if I unplug my headphones once, they won't work again till I reinstall my driver and restart my laptop.  However, once they are unplugged again I'm back at square one.  I've tried with three different set of headphones (different two earbuds and one normal over the ear type) and I have the same issue.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Realtek High Definition Audio driver a lot of times in these past few days.  I've even tried installing it via redownloading the file from the lenovo support page and nothing seems to work.  Once the headphones are unplugged, only my speakers work.  It is like the laptop kind of recognizes that the headphones are plugged in, but will not play sound through them.I've also noticed that when I start playing music (while the music is still picking up my headphones) the music will start really quiet and then suddenly get VERY loud at random despite the volume number it is on.  Once it gets louder, it stays that way until the headphones are unplugged.  Then, I hear nothing once replugging them in.I'm not sure what to do and I hope I can get some help. Thanks!

On my brand new yoga 710, from time to time, the screen with start to do small shifts vertically.  Windows is up to date, went through and did intel specific driver scan, which came up with lenovo having a custom display driver set. Has anyone else experienced something similar to this.... this is my first touchscreen system I have ever dealt with, so I'm not sure how these custom drivers function.  It is about one pixel shift, which is not much, but enough to make me want to throw this thing out the window 4 days after buying.

Two days ago, my internet was being slow, and I had the adapter reset as per usual through the WiFi troubleshooter. The adapter for the first time caused a BSOD when doing this. So I thought "Fine, its a one time thing", I didn't get the chance to get the error message but the cause involved the adapter, I know that much. When my laptop restarted, I noticed a nice little "x" on the speaker tray icon. Scrolling over it, it told me that "No Audio Output Device is Installed." Nothing I did would fix it, including the basic solutions across the internet such as uninstalling the drivers, etc. While looking at the drivers, not all of them were missing, only maybe one or two, definitely one in the Sound, video and Game Controllers area with the name (MEDIA) in it (that much I remember, I believe it was from NVIDIA too), along with one that was put into the "Other Drivers" area, or whatever it was called, by Intel but with a yellow exclamation mark on it and it related to audio. I got the problem to be fixed by doing a system restore back to the 10th, before some updates occurred.Last night, my keyboard was malfunctioning (not allowing me to backspace, only allowing me to type in certain areas, not allowing me to use the letter "C", and telling me to backspace by hitting "Alt + LeftArrow." (And this was occurring in multiple browsers, not just one)I did another system restore and the audio problem reappeared, but this laptop is quite new, I've ran out of restore points to go back to.... Recently I found out that my lenovo yoga 710-15ikb laptop doesnt support digitizer active pen technology. Its hidden in online talks and also frustration when you buy a $70 wacom bamboo ink pen to find that it doesnt work. I understand that most active pens wont work with my computer because the screen (and maybe motherboard) dont have a digitizer. However, I have been looking online and some retailers appear to be selling digitizer lcd screens for my specific model. My question is whether or not these retailers are selling aftermarket screens and if they are will the digitizer work once one is installed? Also, I have a lot of experience doing repair work, mainly with digital cameras and building my desktop, so the task of replacing my laptops screen is not a problem Im just unsure as to whether or not buying a new digitizer lcd screen will work. I dont want to spend money that I dont have to if it turns out that I am just being misled.

Thanks!

Let me know if you need more clarification I'll be around for a while.

I have looked through all the documentation from Lenovo and on these forums and have not been able to determine which version of the HDMI spec (1.4 or 2.0) the micro-HDMI port supports. Although this laptop has a 4K display, I wouldn't necessarily expect that the micro HDMI port to be 2.0 but it would make since and would be a smart thing to do.

As in my subject, can the Yoga 720 (15-inch) be hooked up to a 2560x1440 @ 144Hz External Monitor? I understand that I have to get a usb-c to DisplayPort adaptor to get it to work. However, I am not sure of the DisplayPort specifications in this Thunderport 3 port of Yoga 720 as for a laptop to run 144Hz on an external monitor, it has to be at least DisplayPort 1.2.

Answer:Yoga 720 - 15IKB: Can it be hooked up to a 2560x1440 @ 144Hz External Monitor?

I'm not an expert with monitors, but I'd check the monitor's specs to see what kind of inputs it'll work with. I would imagine the monitor will upscale or adapt to the input signal. It'd be silly to make a monitor that wouldn't work with anything the installed base of computers can throw at it.

Hi everyone. I have tried searching here and on Google for a solution and can?t find anything for Yoga 710-15IKB owners. The only relevant thread I could find was from this user who is describing essentially the same questions, but nobody came up with a solution. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-710-Touchpad-Settings-Area-settings/t... I am trying to activate two touchpad features on my new Yoga 710-15IKB. Two finger scrolling. Two finger right-click tap.Increase speed of touchpad. (The mouse curser is painfully slow, even on the hightest pointer speed setting). However, I can?t seem to find any place to change these settings?I have tried the following: Navigating the touchpad settings via taskbar, looking at each tab (including the ELAN tab). There is no place to make touchpad gesture changes.Going into Windows 10 control panel settings for the touchpad. The only adjustment I can make is ?touchpad sensitivity?.Updating the ELAN driver in Windows 10 via ELAN tab > properties. This does nothing.Downloading and installing various ELAN/Synaptics touchpad drivers from Lenovo.com, none of them activating any ?gesture? settings that I can find. This one specifically did not even work? http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds118370 My questions: Does the Yoga 710-15IKB even support touchpad gestures? Are there any owners with this model who have success with activating gestures? Thanks for your... Ended up taking the laptop back to Best Buy. The Geek Squad rep and I compared the model on the shelf. While the driver information matched, my model did not recognize the trackpad as being standalone (it was acting as a mouse in a PS/2 port). We concluded my computer had a faulty trackpad and got an exchange. All is well!

After i upgraded to BIOS 2XCN30WW(V2.05) dated 2017/06/21 i started to experience lags and temporary freezes (for 20/30 seconds and it would recover) while using windows 10 creators edition. The lag/freeze can be described as a period of time every 10 minutes or so in which the computer stops responding to keyboard input and eventually to mouse movements, if you had a youtube video or audio playing in the background it starts coming out distorted, everything makes you think there is something hogging the CPU or RAM, it recovers itself after 20 or 30 seconds, sometimes less than that.I first blamed Slack Client but quickly found that it didn't have anything to do. It didn't seem related to load as the CPU/RAM usage in Task Manager remained low during these periods.I then blamed a recent Windows Update patch , which i rolled back prompty without noticing any changes. My last option and what ultimately resolved the issue is the rolling back the BIOS upgrade that i applied at about the same time of the windows patch.I enabled the Allow Back-Flash option in BIOS setup and rolled back to version 2XCN29WW, and the problem dissapeared for good, and just to confirm that the BIOS was to blame after a few days of happy computing i decided to give the new BIOS another try and TADAH! soon after the update the freeze/lags started again.I just wanted to share this with you guys in hopes that if you are having similar issues you can resolve them using this message. And since Lenovo doesn't seem... Hi! I have read everywhere that fn+esc should activate/deactivate Paper Display (for example here) but it does not seem to work on my new Yoga 720 15". I found this but it is supported only by different models. Any ideas on what to do? Is the hotkey function working on other Yoga 720 computers? Thanks!

I have a customer who has the above model Lenovo laptop. She hooked up an an external display via HDMI using a HDMI-mini HDMI adapter connected to the mini-HDMI port of the laptop which was working fine for more than a few months. She was using the Best Buy Insignia brand. All of a sudden, the external display no longer detected the laptop and the laptop didn't detect the second display. I remoted in and checked everything out and it seemed OK as far as drivers and such so, for simplicity sake (and after having her verify the external display was working wtih other devices), I had her pick up an Insignia HDMI-miniHDMI cable and just bypass the adapter. She tried that, no luck. So I remoted in again and uninstalled the Intel and Nvidia drivers and reisntalled them using the drivers from the Lenovo website. There was no change. I've done some extensive research about this issue in the forums and there have been other models with similar issues and the fixes were... using a different cable, different adapter, or both. These were mainly solutions to solve the problem of secondary displays not being detected at first, not fixing the issue of it working just fine for a while until one day... nothing. Has anyone come across an issue similar to this? I'm trying to get more of a definate solution versus swapping more adapters and cables around. One last idea I have is to hook it up to my monitor via an HDMI to DVI adapter using her HDMI to mini HDMI cable but I have a feeling, th... Read more

Yoga 710-15IKB Laptop (ideapad)  80V5   - Ghost/phantom Touch IssueThis issue almost made me crazy. I have try to  find out anyway to solve  but all failed. my english is too poor  so I copied another friend's post becaused we have the same issue and also have the same way try to solve this. thanks bro.Geochamp Dear Community, dear Lenovo People, I have the same problem. It usually occurs after waking up the Laptop from Standby. Sometimes, not always, a reboot helps. What I encounter in detail:- "Ghost Touch" Phenomenon  ,Ghost touch What I've tried so far to fix it: Firmware update: Even though my screen is an LG and is clearly affected, the firmware update program told me it is "not at risk" and wouldn't need an update. So this solution: https://support.lenovo.com/de/de/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/Yoga-3-1470/Solutions/HT1... does not work, at all.Updating drivers: I've updated drivers several times with no lasting positive effect on the issue. Win 10 Updates: Seem to have no effect whatsoever, but I figured are worth trying. Lenovo Updates in Lenovo Companion: No effect. Hardware check in Lenovo Companion: Reports no hardware failures. Calibrating Touch and Stylus: No effect. Once it even got worse, but it certainly didn't fix anything... I don't know... Deactivating and reactivating touch screen in the Device Manager: Seemed to help at first, but the issue keeps reoccurring.... Read more

Hi, after using Google and searching through forums I'm still stuck with the following problem. For a installation at the Deutsches Museum in Munich I need the Yoga to boot itself at a defined date/time. Shutting down is not the problem, but automatic boot is. Normally there are two ways how to do this- Wake on LAN- Wake on RTC- Wake on Power (if a PC gets connected to a power source it will start automatically) I'm missing those options in the BIOS settings. But maybe I've overread something. Maybe I have to look somewhere else. The only source I found (not yet tested) was https://tinkertry.com/wol-over-usb3 where I have to built my own solution. Anyway, is there any chance to boot the the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro or Yoga 3 Pro at a specific date/time? Best wishes

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro/Yoga 3 Pro - Missing BIOS function to automatically boot the Yoga at specific time

I have been spending hours to find a way to apply WOL to a yoga 3 pro. I could not believe that it is simply not there. Is that to protect the user or a mistake? Is there an update I missed somewhere, or is a correction  being prepared? Thanks

Question: Yoga 900 BSOD

I bought my Yoga 900 in early 2016 and it soon began to crash.  Under warranty, I took it to an approved Lenovo service centre.  They wiped it and said they could not find any hardware problem.  It worked fine for a while, but began crashing again towards the end of my warranty.  I wiped it myself but it continues to crash.  I recently took it to a local repair shop.  The temporarily replaced the hard drive, but the problems persisted so they re-installed the old hard drive.  They also did something to the graphics card, but I'm not exactly sure what. One of two messages appear when it crashes: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAPDRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Both with:What failed: iaStorA.sys I am now at the point where I am ready to throw the computer in the trash.  Can anyone help me on this one?  Thanks in advance.

Question: Yoga 710 BSOD?

I've had my Yoga 710 since July 2016 and have had intermittent BSOD since August 2016. The first time it happened, I was taking notes in lecture with the laptop on my lap. I was unable to turn the laptop on for a few minutes afterwards, and I'm not sure what the error code or driver were. Over the past week or two, I've noticed more frequent BSOD while using the laptop. Usually, the error is system_thread_exception_not_handled, and when there is a driver listed, it is rtsuvc.sys. I've tried uninstalling the webcam, restarting, and reinstalling the webcam, as well as updating the driver. None of this helped. I followed the steps in this post a few hours, but I don't know if it fixed my problem or not. I would like to get this solved, as I'm afraid of the laptop crashing in the middle of an exam. Any other suggestions? I'm running Windows 10 64-bit if that helps. Thanks!

Question: Yoga 2 pro BSOD

Hi everyone My Y2P is having a lot of BSOD (memory_management, etc...)It's started a week ago after a week of utilization with a Virtualbox event like booting a Vm...I've upgraded the firmware from 27 to 31L - loosing by the way luminosity.Upgrading the Lenovo Power Management service too (all 13 nov releases). Seems to solved the BSOD...but Since yesterday were the Y2P now loops in BSOD, even in any Win8.1 rescue mode. I've passed the MemTest86 tests without any problem. So it's not a hardware memory defect.Booting a Linux usb seems to work fine.- EDIT : I experienced a crash in linux...So it's my Win8.1.I noticed that my firewall service was down after making the firmware upgrade... it may have contrated a virus since then. Plus all the littles anoying behaviours : 2 finger trackpad (ok it's Win8.1), 1 finger select, display flickering, display DPI (ok it's Win8.1 again), not-so-high-screen-luminosity with latest firmware, not-so-long-battery-duration, ....So, I've decided to send back it to my dealer.I'll try to recover it with my first full backup... Nope. The Recovery mode doesn't start but crashes.Bad deal.

Answer:Yoga 2 pro BSOD

Did it start just after you updated your BIOS and Lenovo Energy Management?Memtest86 is weak. It doesn't always detect errors. I usually use Prime95 for RAM testing.

Hi I bought two months ago a Yoga X1, came with Windows 7 (preinstalled) and 16 GB of RAM. Every 10 days or so, I get BSOD. It is very hard for me to tell what is causing it, since sometimes it happens overnight when no program is running (except those in the background). I am attaching the zipped dmp files, renamed with a txt extension. I have installed all the windows updates possible with no success. For reference, I had a Carbon X1 for three years before, never installed a single windows update, and never had any bsod problems. I wonder if the problem could be related to having put too much RAM in the computer (somewhere I read the computer could be overclocking, whatever that means). If so, why would Lenovo ever let me configure a machine this way?

I received my X1 Yoga on 28 march through ATEA.comFrom the start I had 5-10 daily freezes due to bad win8x screen driver on a win10.I bought the best possible Lenovo warranty from ATEA.com, covering onsite repair & accidental damage. But according to ATEA , the Lenovo warranty I paid ATEA for, was for some reason non-genuine/faulty.So on 8 april ATEA started investigating the faulty Lenovo warranty, and asked me not to report any errors to Lenovo, before the faulty warranty was fixed.Problem is my X1 Yoga is drowning in errors, and the Lenovo warranty is also on error - its like a bad joke :-)So I have daily freezes, + the horribly and terrifying BSOD have now started occuring 1-2 times per day.So now I have ditched a 3.000 EUR machine with 5-10 freeze/BSOD problems per day. I will never buy Lenovo again due to suspicion of fraud with non-genuine warranty sold by ATEA.com. Both Lenovo & ATEA.com stand out untrustworthy, and after being loyal to Lenovo X machines for many years, I will change to a trustworthy brand.#BSOD #Lenovo #X1Yoga #ATEA

I have a Yoga 3 11 with Windows 10... I'm experiencing occasional crashing after the computer wakes up from sleep. I'm pretty sure it's being caused by the touchpad (running Synaptics 10.0.13.0). Anyone else having/had this problem? One observation I've made... when the lid is closed, at about 30 degrees before shut it switches to tablet mode. Perhaps the touchpad driver gets confused as to whether or not it needs to shut off the touchpad/keyboard...

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 13 - BSOD

You have a Realtek RTL8723AU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter:

I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win8/8.1 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 and later systems - using older drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have the latest Win8/8.1 drivers - DO NOT use older drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

Lot's of Windows Updates failures in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report. If the problems continue, please post over in the http://www.eightforums.com/windows-updates-activation/ for further expert assistance with this issue.

Both of the memory dumps point to networking issues, one to the wireless and one to a USB device - so it's most likely an issue with the wireless USB adapter. Please remove the adapter and it's software -then test the system to see if that stops the BSOD's. (connect to the internet with a wire, or with a wireless PCI/PCIe card that plugs into a slot on the motherboard).

Please uninstall the Magic Control program as it's driver dates from 2011 and it may not be compatible w/Win8.1

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT... Read more

Read more

My Yoga 13 is just over a year old and has just started crashing about 3 times a day. I think its hardware related but not the most knowledgable on this stuff. Power button also doesn't work on the laptop. Had this machine for under two weeks, not much installed on it and all of a sudden i keep getting a BSoD at least once a day.
mostly KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

i ran scndsk and the only thing that is odd on the report is:

Examining 1 corruption record ...

Record 1 of 1: Bad subtree in index "$I30" of directory "\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\ee8ec565250656e6722ee121783b9984 <0x6,0x2421b>" ... no corruption found.

1 corruption record processed in 0.1 seconds.

Windows has examined the list of previously identified potential issues and found no problems.
No further action is required.

I ran memory diag and no issues either.  any ideas to resolve would be appreciated!

If possible, upload the dump files for analysis.Go toC:\Windows\minidumpUpload all those files by copying (Make sure you copy the files otherwise you will get access denied, even if you're an administrator) them to the desktop and compressing them in a single .zip folder.Or even better, upload a Kernel memory dump.Go the StartRight click My ComputerSelect PropertiesClick Advanced system settingsClick on the Advanced tabSelect Settings under Startup and RecoveryThen under Write debugging information select Kernel memory dump.Once a dump is created go to:C:\Windows\memory.dmpCopy the file to the desktop, zip it up and upload it to a file sharing site like Onedrive. After the upload is done post the download link in your next reply.

Hello, I'm experiencing issues with my Lenovo Yoga 2 13. It started at the time of the anniversary update of Windows 10 Home although I can't be sure it really started there. Before that everything was running smoothly. Symtoms:- In some applications the sound gets noisy, like an old scratched vinyl disk.- When running my old Warcraft III (normally in Win XP compatibility mode), the computer freezes in a loud buzzing sound after a random time, from 2 minutes to 1 hour. Forced shut-down pressing the power knob is the only way to unfreeze it. What I tried and didn't improve the situation:- Reinstalling the applications.- Changing the audio drivers to a generic version.- Updating Windows and all possible drivers.- Reliability monitor -While trying to update the BIOS using Insyde H20FFT from the Lenovo Support I get an error:"Get platform ROM map error in SMI!"SMI Return Code: 0xEF I'm trying to figure out if it's a hardware issue before reinstalling everything. I'd be happy to try your suggestions.

Hello there, In January this year, I purchased YOGA 910-IKS 13.9 FHDi5-7200U, 16GB, 512GB SSD, WIN 10 I just want to point out, that laptop is beeing used for normal activity, like everyday surfing, watching movies few programs and without any tweeks to software or anything. For the first two moths, I was very satisfied with it. However, just 2 months after using it, laptop was unable to charge, and official service diagnosed that the motherboard is in defect and it has to be replaced. Very shocking to me that just after 2 months, the motherboard in high class laptop has to be replaced. I've waited 3 whole weeks for the process to be done, and by the time I've got laptop back, I've noticed new problems. Crazy loud fan (just the left one!) and problem with touchpad (which had now double click, improperly installed after service). I've sent laptop to 2nd service to get this problems repaired (which were obvious result of unprofessional first service). 2nd service lasted 10 days, and it concluded that the touchpad was unproperly 'clicked' to the rest of the laptop body, but aswell that the left fan is working properly. I was shocked. You can hear the difference in fans between left and right one. The right one is working flawlessly, but the left it's scraping onto something. Their explanation was that the "left one is working louder than the right, that the right can be heard only in silent room". So lets conclude, I had laptop for 2 months, and then it ... Read more

Hi,After purchasing this notebook in November I have been experiencing regular cases of BSOD. Usually happens once every 3-9 days and more than half of them have been caused by 0x000001d3. I thought the problems would go away after updating my drivers (about a week or so) through Lenovo Companion but I am still getting the same crashes. The crashes happen fairly at random and I am usually only running stuff like Chrome, MS Office applications and Spotify. I tried using the hardware scanning tool in Lenovo Companion but passed on all the tests. Does this mean that this is a driver issue? The crash dump files can be found in the attachment. Otherwise I am pretty happy with this computer and hope this can all be fixed with an update.

I've gotten BSOD/reboots regularly on my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro running Windows 8.1 since I got it around Thanksgiving. It's basically the vanilla machine with the removal of the Superfish crapware, the addition of iTunes, Office, and some tools to help triage this and general wifi strength. The BSOD always puts a similar error message in the event log, but it's also often preceded by a series of errors from the Bonjour service (like "Task Scheduling Error: m->NextScheduledSPRetry 79609").
Here's the error:

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000009f (0x0000000000000003, 0xffffe00084335e20, 0xffffd0013f836960, 0xffffe00083481010). A dump was saved in: C:\windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 022415-4250-01.

I've downloaded all the most recent drivers and updates I can find from Lenovo's site, and it seemed to help for a day or so, but it's still happening.

The BSOD seems to happen almost every time I close the lid of the laptop or if the screensaver kicks in for more than 10 minutes or so.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi.I have problems using my mechanical keyboard with my my lenovo laptop. Sometimes theres a delay when pressing keys and sometimes they appear to "stuck". Very rarely the backlight even blinks just like a connect/reconnect. I have tried the keyboard in other computers and it works perfect.I have looked for updates for anything USB-related and also for bios, can't find anything newer than already installed.Any advice?

Hello, I have a 510-15IKB that comes without an optical drive, but with the possibility to add an extra HDD. However, after opening up the optical drive bay, it seems that I will need a sata-cable to connect the HDD to the laptop. Where can I find such a small sata-cable?

My yoga 710 (6th gen i5) would get bsod at least once a week. Usually when I am on chrome or on word, .I got this in october, the motherboard actually failed in november, forcing me to send it in for repair. They had to replace the whole motherboard as a result of the repair.  bsod started beginning of this year, even after the cumulative update for windows 10 it's still happening. the errors i have gotten are:KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, what failed: igdkmd64.sysSYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, what failed: igdkmd64.sys does anyone have any experience with this? I did some research and was told that hardware drivers might be the issue but i did a scan and could not find anything that needed to be updated.

Hello, last week I bought a brand new Yoga 2 13".It came with Windows 8.1 preinstalled and I immediatly upgraded it to Windows 10 (after the update I did a clean install).Everything work flawlessly... except for a "little" issue: when I cold boot the computer and I get to Windows 10 lock screen, if I try to unlock the screen by touching or clicking the touchpad (Synaptics) 8 out of 10 times I get a windows blue screen (DCP_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION).When the computer reboots, if I'm lucky I can touch the touchpad and login but if not I get another blue screen. Usually at the third reboot everything goes fine. The problem seems to happen more frequently at first boot anyway. After I manage to login everything works perfectly, not a single issue. After a lot of investigations I figured out that if at lock screen I don't touch the touchpad but I unlock by using the keyboard (or an external mouse if connected), things works as expected without any BSOD.I even booted a Linux distro to be sure, and with that I can use the touchpad whenever I want without any troubles. So, given these evidences it must be a problem with Synaptics Touchpad drivers... I'm actually using version 19.0.13.0 that I got through Windows Update, which is the same version for Windows 10 available at Lenovo Support Site for my model.I have used Windows 8.1 for just few minutes, so I'm not sure if it has the same issue (even tried another Win 10 clean install). Has anyone faced the same problem? Is there a fix for t... Read more

Answer:Yoga 2 + Win10 + Synaptics driver = BSOD

A small update 15 days later... Although the issue seems to happen more frequently at lock screen, I experienced few random BSOD even during normal usage (and as a coincidence they happend immediately after touching touchpad). Proably this model is not "really" Windows 10 ready (yet). I don't know if this happens in Windows 8.1 to but I don't want to waste time rolling back to it and hoping it will work... so I ended up installing Ubuntu 15.04: I've been using it for a week now and everything seems to be working flawlessly.

I am having a problem getting this frequent "graphic driver stopped responding..." message and a "video_scheduler.." BSOD after that. Something like this: Steps I did:Did OKR. Clean driver. Lenovo driver. Windows update intel Driver. Latest Intel HD 4000 from their site. The BIOS version is upto date but I reinstalled again.NO luck. .I tried both Win 8 and 8.1 here. .. I tried all these possibilities.. Did clean windows install from a non-lenovo windows 8 image. Wiped SSD. Windows was fresh, clean and no bloatware. No Luck.  Updatet to 8.1 .. did all possibilities again.. no luck. I called Lenovo Tech. They remote to the laptop and what he did is uninstall all graphics driver and use windows generic driver. He stopped auto windows update (since windows updates the driver). There's no error, but the laptop performance is horribly slow. Scrolling long PDF and websites is wavy and the HDMI port is useless.Lenovos solution is unacceptable. The laptop is bassically useless.  Are you guys experiencing the same thing too? Do you guys know a solution. I really like the laptop but it is unusable. BTW, I bought this laptop ~3 weeks as scratch and dent at their lenovo website. I wonder if there is a hardware problem for this. Also, the wifi sucks.. sigh

Good day everyone,

I came to you and asking for help in order to fix what others tend to evade it as much as they can. To put it simple I work as an IT support and recently somebody reported that it cannot power on the machine. Apparently two laptops wouldn't turn on so a call has been raised to the Support company and short after a technician came and replaced the motherboards on the damaged laptops. All nice and shiny till one of them started crashing with BSOD errors (the ones in the topic title), it had been already upgraded to windows 10. To mention that both laptops are identical and also I notice that after the motherboard replacement the technician had some problems booting to a service stick in order to replace the SN and he made some changes to BIOS in order to complete his task. Later on in my attempt to search for a solution I came across a BIOS update on Lenovo website (V1.22 newest to which I update it successfully, board had V.1.18) which stated that it fixes an issue with the service USB stick not being recognized. Reverting the BIOS settings to default, resulted in being unable to boot into existing OS from the HDD, so I had to install windows one more time. To my surprise it did go well for few hours but short after it appeared again, making it unusable for work. Drivers are up to date and there aren't any other programs that my cause this issue. A second call has been raised but I still wait a reply from them. I attached the Zip files requested... Read more

Answer:BSOD CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT and MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION on a Lenovo YOGA 12

OK, first off - these errors are typically hardware errors.  But over the years we've found that they can also be due to compatibility issues or even low-level driver problems.Secondly, some of this may repeat work you've already done.  Please let us know if you've already done something that we suggested. Your UEFI/BIOS (version JEET73WW (1.22 )) dates from 2016.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  This is just in case there has been a more recent update.FYI - W8 and W10 communicate more with the UEFI/BIOS than previous versions of Windows, so it's important to ensure that the UEFI/BIOS is kept up to date (and that outdated UEFI/BIOS' may be the cause of some compatibility issues).Only 54 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most systems have 180 or more.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available (and didn't experience any errors).Interestingly, there are 3 STOP 0x9C errors listed in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report. These errors were replaced by the STOP 0x124 error starting with Windows Vista.I'm not sure of the impact of this, but it bears watching IMO. The installed programs don't seem typical for what I'd expect to see on a Lenovo system.I would suggest visiting the... Hi! We have a number of ThinkPad Yoga 11e, most of them are about 1.5 years old and we're currently updating their Windows 10 image and BIOS. Imaging process completes fine, but updating the BIOS has caused us a lot of issues. When updating BIOS from within Windows with the latest BIOS Update Utility (1.26) from Lenovo's website the laptops crash with a blue screen of death (BSOD). We then tried all previous BIOS versions (from 1.10 and up), but they all crashed too. The current BIOS version on the laptops is 1.10, but even that failed. We initially ran the installer from our network drive with the installer file renamed for easier identification. We have since tried renaming the installer file back to the original name and running it locally. Have also tried running it only with wireless enabled, running only with Ethernet enabled. At one point we thought there might have been another installation process running in the background (drivers, Windows Update), so made sure that had all completed. The BIOS upgrade still crashed the laptop. We have been unable to pinpoint any of the above scenarios to be the culprit, as now some of them work randomly. Two machines side by side, one will work and the other one will fail. We're pulling our hair out with this one. Has anyone else had this experience and have you found what steps need to be taken to successfully complete the BIOS upgrade every time?

I have been troubleshooting all weekend while I await the arrival of the recovery CD that Lenovo support is sending per the latest support call. The BSODs only started after I received my Yoga back from Lenovo repair depot. I then requested in-home repair at which time a technician replaced the system mother board, after which we quickly saw that it did not resolve the issue.
I downloaded the DM Log collector Tool from this site however after watching it seemingly collect a bunch of information the resulting zip file that appears on my desktop is empty. Thus I have used the SF Diagnostics Tool. OS is Windows 8.1 Pro. I appreciate any assistance since I have lost confidence with Lenovo support!

A couple days ago, I got a BSOD and now my laptop has not been able to boot properly. It gets stuck on the Lenovo splash screen, then a couple seconds later it shows a Boot Drive not Detected screen and it doesn't give me any options for a drive to boot from.I've tried unplugging the internal battery and holding the power button for 15 seconds, tried removing the SSD drive and putting it back in, and have tried selecting Legacy Support in the BIOS settings.  Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Answer:Yoga Pro 2 - BSOD/Disk Drive not Detected

Hi KaelGK,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Try checking on the BIOS if the SSD boot drive is still detected.
Running bootable diagnostics would help identify the issue.

Alternatively , you can swap the SSD to another pc to test detection and image integrity.

Update us how it goes.

Hi I just bought a Lenovo Yoga 2 13 online. After unpacking, I turned it on and completed the initial automatic configuration (keyboard, wifi, account, etc). Reboot and BSOD ":-( you pc has run into a problem". The laptop reboot itself in "automatic repair", bit it freezes with black screen (not BSOD). If I turn it off and on again, same cycle (BSOD, reboot, black screen). The novo key get me directly into the black screen freeze (after choosing "system repair" and just after the lenovo logo with rotating dots) I never arrived at the point of having Win 8.1 running. The laptop is brand new. I don't think I need installing OKR8 image since the novo key menu is there and I didnt touch partitions. I am not a newbie and I could try reinstalling win 8.1 from USB drive, but I dont want to break the warranty. Any hints?

Answer:[SOLVED] Yoga 2 13 just arrived: BSOD after first configuration

SOLVED. Volume 0 (432 GB, one of the 7 partitions of the disk), for some misterious reason, was not formatted, and instead was of type RAW. I found that by running diskpart from a USB windows recovery drive of another laptop. I formatted the RAW partition and started "system recovery", which brought back the laptop to the original state, and this time everything went smooth.
