Lenovo ideapad y510p NDIS 6.40 suppurted wifi driv...

Question: Lenovo ideapad y510p NDIS 6.40 suppurted wifi driv...

I'm running my Lenovo ideapad y510p with Windows 10 64-bit operating system and tried to get miracast working on the computer. Miracast needs NDIS 6.40 suppurted wifi drivers and it seems that my computer only has NDIS 6.30. As I have understand, 6.40 support should be available, but Lenovo dosen't have any drivers that I can see with NDIS 6.40 support. My wifi is Intel centrino wireless-N 2230 running driver version 15.18.0.1 from 30.4.2015. Can found any newer drivers. How to fix this, or is Lenovo once again laking up to date drivers in their computers? Name NdisVersion---- -----------Ethernet 6.30Wi-Fi 6.30Bluetooth Network Connection 6.30

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi All, after long digging around, I turn to you for help. I seem to have same problem that half of the internet, but I'm still far from solution As you can probably duess I got my Smart TV finally and wanted to profit some tech (namely Miracast) but my Z580 has NDIS 6.3 (I checked) which is not compatible. The issue is that the latest Win8.1 drivers on Lenovo support site for that model date back to 2013!!! Do you know if any NDIS 6.4 WiFi (broadcom) drivers exist for that model?BTW... I installed LSB from the support website but it does absolutely nothing gets stuck at 10%Thanks in advance.

Hi, i'm AlessandraI've bought today a lenovo y510p and i have some wifi problems. If i connect the laptop with the hotspot from my phone it works, but if I connect my laptop with my wifi's home it doesnt work. So, i have Fastweb connection and i probably think that: Windows 8.1 goes in  conflict with fastweb.Could i install windows 7 without any drivers problem? Or there is other solution? where i can find drivers for win 7 home with this laptop? thank you for your help

Answer:Wifi problem IdeaPad y510p

I am not sure but I am guessing that FastWeb is an Internet service provider. So, what issue are you getting? - Are you able to see the Wifi?- Are you able to connect to your Wifi?- Could you post a screenshot of your "Network and Sharing Center". For that go into "Control Panel" and select the option.

The internet connection keeps dropping constantly. It works fine on other devices and laptops, doesnt drop even once. But on this expensive laptop i can barely get it to work more than 5 mins. After that i have to disconnect and reconnect the connection. Please tell me how to make it work. I got the laptop two days ago, and if even a basic thing as wifi doesnt work on it Im thinking about returning this.

As the title describes, since upgrading from Windows 8, to Windows 8.1 i started getting WiFi issues. Windows does not show it as dropped, however whenever I start moving data across the wireless link, the response-times get way out of hand. I do not have this issue if i reinstall the computer to Windows 8, but as soon as I upgrade to Windows 8.1 i get this issue. I have tried with the 16.5.1.6 driver available from http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS037926, without any midigation to my issue. I have also tried the Intels 16.11.0 driver available from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23726&lang=eng I am currently using the Intel Driver, but neither seem to perform any different for me. Anything i could try to get around this issue would be appriciated.

Answer:Ideapad y510p - WiFi timeouts since update to Windows 8.1

Update, It seems that this issue only occurs while another computer is activly using the Wifi as well. As a test i enabled AP Isolation in my Accesspoint. This seems to have fixed the issue. It feels to me like the Intel N-2230 adapter is listening in on too many ocnnections, and therefore has problems with accessing my AP. (ie. the card is occupied with checking that traffic, and therefore is missing what I think to be more prioritized traffic between my computer and accesspoint). Now I'm down to average reply-times below 100ms. And what I consider a normal rate of dropped packets. Still, it feels like something needs to updated in the driver for the WiFi-card.

Maybe you accidentally turn airplane mode on while using the ethernet. Press Fn + F5 and turn airplane mode off.

Hello everybody!I'm new to this server, and have got a major issue with my laptop. It keeps restarting. When I press the power button, it lights up and the laptop starts booting. Then, the lenovo logo is displayed for approximately 30 seconds. Then it shuts down again and restarts itself. It keeps doing this, all the time, unless I eject the battery... I don't know what to do, and can't find similar problems elsewhere (some keep restarting, but they get to see other screens besides the lenovo logo). I'm a producer and I make music for labels. I've got a project stored on the hard drive of the laptop and I desperately need it! How can I fix this problem? Any suggestions?Additional information:Single geforce gt755m graphics cardi7 4770QM processor8gb ram16GB SDWindows 8.12 months out of warrantyI've been using this laptop for school (though I've travelled rarely with my laptop, used it more as a desktop), music production and games.I've got norton internet security installed so I doubt it could be a virus.Maybe a problem/error with windows 8.1?I've always been very carefull with my laptop, and it has never dropped or anything like that. It's in perfect condition for it's age.One thing, the battery has become "lazy" (about 1 hour on maximum preformance, 2 to 3 hours on energy saving)I really hope someone has an answer to this and can help me out!Kind regards,Justin Nederkoorn

Hi Just got the y510p laptop and am trying to install Ubuntu so I have this bootable DVD and I wanted to try Ubuntu before installing as usual but I can't get the laptop to bot on dvd. On boot menu options there is only EFI and some kind of network options but no dvd.I tried following instructions here but no matter how many times I press F1 during startup, I can't get to boot menu and windows starts directly:http://support.lenovo.com/en_CY/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT036814Is it not possible to boot on dvd. The dvd is ubuntu 13.10 supposedly compatible with EFI and secure boot.I don't understand why there is no option to reorder boot devices like on all my older PCs. I manage to get BIOS setup pressing restart and shift and then selecting UEFI firware settings and I do get to bios setups but again no way to find the option for booting on a dvd. Any advice? Answer:lenovo ideapad y510p boot on CD/DVD

to get the computer to boot from a cd, turn the computer on and press f12 as soon as the lenovo icon appears (if you are obsessive it would not hurt to press it over and over again) this will eventually cause the boot menue to open up. you will probably see a few different options, but if you have a useable boot disk in your optical drive, one of the options will have DVD in the name. pick this one. Once the disk boots up you will probably get a black screen. if this happens, turn up your screen brightness by pressing fn + the up arrow key. you should see the ubuntu loading bar after that. good luck

Hello guys,  I bought my Lenovo y510p for months ago, tried with several SLI games to run those. They all crash, and returns the screendriver has stopped working. I have the y510p with GT 755m sli. Any solution for this?? If I run without SLI all is working good.

Have you updated your video card drivers with the latest drivers from the Nvidia website?  Have you monitored your GPU temperatures to see if either of your GPUs are overheating?  You can try using GPU-Z to monitor your GPUs while gaming.

Hey all, I recently recieved a Lenovo y510p for the holidays and I was wondering if anyone was running into the same thing I was, and it definitely wasn't a brick wall haha. When I play BF4 on all lowest settings(although it can run on high settings easily), the laptop becomes ridiculously hot within a measly 10 minutes. Is this normal? What can I do to fix it?  I use an external Keyboard and Mouse so that I don't have physical contact with it. The laptop is elavated and I have a usb powered fan beneath it. It helps noticeably when I'm browsing the web or watching videos. Even when I play games (steam) such as l4d2, counter strike, etc., it never gets as hot as when I play bf4 for 10 minutes. I fear it may ruin the laptop and just break it if I continue to play it.

I've had my Ideapad y510p for about 2 years and recently the charger stopped working.  At first it just needed to be re-plugged in, then it needed to be plugged it at weird angles and held up to charge, then it had to be in the exact right position, with no motion.  Then it just stopped charging.   From what I've read it sounds like this may be a problem with the port, not the charger, but I've tried using a charger that fits my computer but isn't the right voltage/wattage (or w/e) and it will charge for a time, then stop, then continue to charge if I plug it into a new socket. I tested it by taking out the battery and turning it on: with the inappropriate charger, it'll still work, with the old charger, it won't turn on.   As far as I can tell, there's no physical damage to the charger, though it's possible it might have been dropped or mishandled when traveling with it.  I know for a fact I've dropped my computer several times, but I've never had charging problems immediate after, and all those instances were a good while back.   So is it more likely that my computer is the problem, or just the charger?  I still have the warranty on my laptop; if that's the problem, can I get it fixed?

Hi, I got my new Lenovo Ideapad y510p for a month ago, and  three weeks after it started acting wierd by having a slow startup and sometimes it just had black screen when it was starting up. Sometimes I have to hold down the  power and try several times to turn on the computer. When it do start up, at the begining (after the lenovo logo) it makes some black screen switching (not sure if it correct way to describe it), and then it take ages for it to get on the login screen, and get on desktop, its like it doesn't have an SDD. Answer:Problems with Lenovo Ideapad y510p

Hi Zenadbeg,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your Y510p laptop is not working as expected and takes long time to boot into Windows, below are the steps to check and resolve the issue in the computer:

Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.
If the issue persists even after performing Flee Power then resetting BIOS to its defaults should resolve the issue
To access the BIOS menu click the NOVO button which at the left-hand side of the computer next to AC power adapter jack.
Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on ?F9? Key and select YES.
Now Click on ?F10? Key to safe the changes that are done in BIOS, restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Hope this helps!!!

Do post us back if the issue persists.

Hi,I am interested in the Y510P SLI (5938 9550) Dual SLI for Malaysia.I'd like to know more information about the RAM on the laptop. Is it a DDR3L (1.35V) or DDR3 (1.5V). Hi.I am considering buying Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p,to be more specific I want exactly this model from newegg.com. This model has 5400rpm 1tb HDD which in my personal opinion is not good enough for this laptop so I was planning to upgrade it to SSD but I am not if this is possible to remove the existing HDD and replace is with my SSD as I see no HDD bay on the back of the laptop, the manual also provides no information on how to acess the HDD. There is also no information on the size of the hard disk drive on this model,is it a regular 2.5" HDD or are they using other size drive..? I have chatted with a few representatives online, but they could not provide any specific information, one of them told me that this is possible, the other one said it is not.I hope someone can provide detailed information on this matter.Thank you.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p HDD Question.

hi quick5and,

Welcome to the Forums.

The official Ideapad Y510p specs sheet has not been released yet but the 1TB HDD is a regular 2.5" SATA HDD (same as the Y500, see page 38-40 of the hardware maintenance manual on how to access the HDD)

Other SKU of the Y510p, like this merchant, sells a hybrid 2.5" drhve (sample specs here)

As for upgrading the HDD to SSD, you may want to check Crucial's SSD upgrade for the Y510p or go with an mSATA drive (according to these reviews, the Y510p uses an M.2 (formally NGFF) mSATA drive).

Please check this pdf data sheet in the future as it will enlist the official specs for the Y510p.

Best regards,
neokenchi

I know very little about upgrading computers, but I know that it can be difficult to upgrade laptops because of how tight they can be inside. I was wondering if it's possible to upgrade the Lenovo Ideapad y510p with a NVIDIA GTX 750 video card. Thanks.

Answer:Nvidia GTX 750 in Lenovo Ideapad y510p

The laptop already comes with a single 750 or 755 GPU along with the intel GPU. Depending on which one you have you can add a second one to the ultrabay (if you can find one for sale) but you cannot replace what is already built in. The second problem is that the ultrabay 750 cards are all defective currently so adding a second one won't work.

Hi, Short Version:My laptop screen has been messing up (Massive flickering, white/green lines) simliar to what dozens of other people on these and other  forums reported. Sent laptop in for warranty, didn't fix problem. I want to have  my laptop replaced or refunded. This is a 1000$ laptop, and I cannot afford to get a new one. The type of "support" I have received from Lenovo has been very poor, I hope I can get some help from the official Lenovo mods here. Long Version:My Lenovo Ideapad y510p screen had a slight flicker (not very noticeable) when I got it, however I searched online and it seemed to be the same for many people and not getting worse. Howver a few months ago the flicker started to get really bad and the screen also had these white/green noise lines appearing and disappearing (even in BIOS and across multiple operating systems, so this IS NOT a software issue but a hardware one). I contacted Lenovo support and after a lenghty process of having me reset and reformat the computer they told me that I would have to send it in for warranty repairs. I am a college student so it is very difficult to part with my laptop for 10 days, I had to wait until a few weeks later during spring break when I sent my laptop in for repairs. I SPECIFICALLY mentioned on the information sheet that this was NOT an LCD issue or a display issue but an issue with the laptop design/motherboard, but after 10 days of waiting I got back my laptop with just the LCD scre... Hi ElectricCrayon,

Im sorry to hear about your experience..
What I would Suggest since in your situation the problem is HW and it definitely need to be repaired and since you cannot have the laptop leave,
You can Report that the Porblem is not repaired and You still need a repair. Let them know that you can send the computer in for repair at a later Time.
They'll Give you a Case number and When you call back once your ready to have it repaired, Even if your warranty expired, You can Provide the case number where you reported the Issue. And They'll Honor the repair.

Hope this helps

I just got my new ideapad laptop last week and its been working wonderfully until about 2 days ago. I usually use my laptop in my room which is separate from the modem/router. The connection in my room was fine but when i played online games, i noticed incredible lag. My internet speed dropped around 4-12mbps and has been this speed since. When i move to the room with the modem/router, the speed is significantly faster (obviously). I'm not sure if this is a problem with my laptop or my router. I've upgraded the intel n 7260 drivers to the latest version and ive turned off mcafee firewall but its still super slow. Any way i can get the speed back to normal?

But since last week or so I noticed the level suddenly dropped to about 38%, then 37, 36, etc, a bit everyday. It still says "plugged in and charging", but the icon doesn't have the charging animation, nor does the % go up. I called tech support earlier and he said to unplug the charger, then reinstall the Lenovo power management software. This didn't really solve the problem, in fact all it did was lower the % down to 25% now, because all this time the charger was disconnected running on battery power. I think basically the battery is not really charging even though it says it's charging, or it could be just not calibrated correctly? Anyone know what I should do, besides buy a new battery since that's the last resort? The laptop is roughly 1.5 yrs old, never had this problem until last week. I heard about the battery gauge reset method, but people warn that it could also damage the battery.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y510P battery problem

hi KevinLQ,

Thanks for Posting.

Have the computer boot to the BIOS mode.
Press F2 when you turn on the computer
While in BIOs Mode unplug the AC adapter and let it Drain until it shudown on its own.

This will Drain the Battery from any charge and will count the battery as 0
Now Recharge the battery and check if it will be read by WIndows correctly.

If this shows the same problem, You can have the system Serviced via Warranty.

Hope this helps

Hello fellow Lenovo users, i will start by saying having been a Lenovo brand user since my X41 in 2006 and having purchased over 8 laptops from the brand based on the rich experiences i have had over the years i am really disapointed at my Y510p i purchased a few years ago. After ownership of 6months i started to notice the screen would flicker as stated by hundreds of other owners.(just type Y510p screen flicker into youtube and see for yourself) I am sure this issue is not new to you  and there are many posts about this. After contact with customer services who constantly tell me it is driver/software related, which it clearly is not i would like to ask why such a prestigious brand such as Lenovo will not admit that this model was shipped with a design fault? I understand that there would be expense involved but after being an avid fan of Lenovo for over 15 years and having purchased over 13 products from tablets for my kids to phones for my wife and the new laptop i buy every 2 years for work, this is small fry. I can never buy another machine from you again now as i have lost all faith in your design/testing and the lack of willingness to accept liability when so many units have the issue makes me sad. This has become a bit of a rant, which i know is not what he forum is about but i feel people should know all the details about a company ethos before they spend their hard earned money on a sub standard machine. So since christmas is coming, I was thinking it would be cool to upgrade my 8gb RAm to 16gb My question is: what kind of memy card I need to my lenovo ideapad y510p? and do I need to change my old memory card aswell if im buying new one? Also is it easy to change those RAM cards ?

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad y510p - memory upgrade

They're RAM sticks, not cards, and they're fairly easy to change out. I would suggest looking for something in the 1866mhz speed, though I think you need lower voltage memory. So I'd get something 1.35v or lower.

Hey guys,

I installed Windows 10 on the 29th and have been mostly happy except for one major issue: when I leave my laptop alone for about 10-20 minutes, the OS completely locks up and all I can do is hold down the power button and force it to shut down. For those of you who don't know, the Ideapad Y510p is equipped with a Nvidia GeForce GT 750M graphics card, and I have read about a conflict between Windows Update and the GeForce experience program. I've tried to change the settings so that it runs only on the integrated Intel graphics but unless I did something wrong, that hasn't worked either. I've checked Windows Update and GeForce experience and both programs as well as the drivers are all up to date. I'm at my wits end and am seriously contemplating downgrading to 8.1 where I never had this problem. Any responses are greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Hi, yesterday my Lenovo Ideapad Y510p wouldn't turn on.  It was working fine in the afternoon, but when I tried to turn the laptop on at night, it wouldnt turn on.  The white power button is lit as well as the led lights indicating there is battery and etc.  There is no sound or noise that comes from a normal boot up.  No fans whirring, nothing.  Even the keyboard lights don't turn on nor do I see the lenovo logo or bios.  Nothing happens when I tried to turn it on except for the power button lighting up (it stays lit). I've tried using the novo button as well as holding the power button for 30/60 seconds wth the battery and charger unplugged, but none of it works.  Any help? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y510p - Laptop won't turn on.

Dear RaymondWu,

Welcome in lenovo community,

Please try to,

1- Remove the charger and the battery >> hold the power button for 20 seconds.
2- Connect the charger only >> hold the power button for 10 seconds.
3- turn on the laptop normal and feed us back please.

Also please try another charger if you can.

Hello, I have my laptop since 2 months and it is working good. I play most of the games with very good performance. However, recently I noticed in AfterBurner that my GPUs are not as cool as before and are working at 95-97 C when playing Battlefield 3 for longer time. I suppose it is a dust problem in the air vents, because it was keeping around 75-80 C before when playing that game at the same settings. Can some one give me a hand what is the proper way of cleaning it up without voiding the warranty? Lenovo customer support said that opening the back cover to clean it won't void the warranty, but I can't open it. I remove the battery and the second GPU from the ultra bay and wWhen I unscrew the 8 screws I can't remove the cover. It looks like it is still screwed to somewhere. Can some one give me some instructions from that point forward. Thanks

Hi Vaskovass,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your Y510P Laptop is overheating nowadays which was working as expected before, as you have informed accumulation of the dust in the vents is one of the major reasons for heating. Performing ?Dust Removal? which is one of the options in the LEM (Lenovo Energy Management) should resolve the issue. Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y510P reset/wipe

hi jiroah,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

While the computer is turned off, you can try pressing the OneKey Recovery button to restore the unit to factory defaults (this will wipe all data on the OS partition (eg. C:\) and will restore the preloaded Win8 OS, softwares and drivers).

Note:
If you have files on the D:\ drive, you will need to manually move/delete them as this will not be touched by OneKey Recovery.

Hello, System info: Lenovo Y510P, i7-4700MQ, 8GB RAM, 1TB Hybrid Hard Drive 5400 RPM with 8GB SSHD, Single Nvidia GT 755m, ODD , 1920x1080 FHD Anti-Glare Display, Windows 8.1 64-bit, BIOS Verison: 74CN44WW(V3.05).  I purchased my Y510P back in June of 2014 and for the first 3 months I did not have any problems. After being in school for about a month (I am in college), my laptop started experiencing a problem with the graphics card.  At random times my screen would start to filcker about every, thirty seconds or so. The screen would then go black after some time and the mouse could be seen flickering at the center of the screen. After a few minutes, a BSOD would appear with the error SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (nvlddmkm.sys). I know this is an issue with the Nvidia graphics driver and I have updated it several times to both the beta drivers and release drivers and the issue still persists, although it has become less frequent. It has started to occur after having the display off for prolonged times. The issue appears to be independent of background activity. (i.e music playing, downloads in progress, or idle) Recently in the past week, my laptop started experiencing severe boot issues. This has happened twice with both events two days appart. The first time boot problems occured, I turned on my laptop like normal to work a group project in one of my classes and the reolution was skewed per application. I am currently having trouble disabling hyperthreading on my Lenovo Ideapad Y510P. The reason for this is because Rainbow Six Siege crashes constantly and most Reddit posts have suggested to turn it off. I have tried various solutions, but none of them have really worked. Hello.I am the owner Lenovo IdaePad y510p Intel i5 4200m.Not so long ago I bought a i7 processor 4810MQ.Both the i5 4200m and i7 4810MQ work on the Socket G3 also known as RPG 946B/947 or FCPGA 946 but with the difference that the intel i5 4200m has a TDP of 37W and Intel i7 4810MQ has a TDP of 57W.So after update the BIOS to version 3.08 willingly I took up the replacement processor. To my surprise, after an exchange with i5 to i7 4200m 4810MQ laptop will not turn on, for a short time (1 to 3 seconds) shone on the white button "power" but immediately afterwards extinguished.I suspect that it is a voltage input to the processor, but the BIOS is not possible because the feature voltage change is not visible / hidden. I hit it on:https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/3546-lenovo-y410p-y510p-unlocked-bios-wlan-white...but it seems to me such output last resort, and I wanted to ask what to do now.I do not want to believe that the 300W power supply does not could handle the additional 20W per processor. What to do in my Lenovo IdeaPad y510p to use Intel i7 4810MQ?I'm sorry for his handling of English who constantly grind. Thanks!!!

Answer:Low Memory Battlefield 3 Lenovo Ideapad Y510p

There is another thread on this forum that deals with specifically that issue. I will summarize the solution here -Just keep your in-game resolution same as your desktop resolution. So if your desktop is running at 1920*1080 then keep the game resolution also the same. Also, try to tone down the graphics settings a bit. Do not keep them at Very high or Ultra, its good for this memory problem and also the heat. (if you have high temps) Another thing, would be to check your Task manager while gaming and see which processes are using up max memory. I got this error only once while playing Hitman:Absolution. Now, I play FIFA 13, Thief, Tomb Raider. Spec Ops The line at High settings and have not had any problems. My memory usage  in normal use is around 35-45% and gaming memory usage is 55-70%, depending on the game.

Answer:It is possible to Update Lenovo Ideapad Y510p processor i5 to i7

hi Nkama1993

Welcome to the Forums.

Although it's possible to replace the CPU on the Y510p (see page 61 of the HMM), upgrading the CPU is not cost effective as you may also need to replace the motherboard (upon looking at the spare parts, the 37W mainboard for the i5 dual-core CPU is different from the 47W mainboard for i7 quad-core CPU).

Considering the price of the i7 CPU and a compatible mainboard, I think it'll be much better to invest on a new Core-i7 system.

Hello! I have had this problem for a LONG time now, and it is getting very frustrating now. Whenever my screen has a large area of a dark color, my whole display begins to glitch out and flicker. Not only do I have this problem, but there is a problem where there are pink and green areas covering places where it shouldn't be, if that makes any sense, I don't know how to explain it. I have tried so many ways to fix it, but none have worked. I had reinstalled my drivers MULTIPLE times, I had sent it back to Lenovo for repairs, I had unplugged some cables that people had said would fix it, but still, the problem still persists. I do not know what could fix this, and it is so aggravating! It seems like everyone who had this issue as well can never get it fixed either, and their thread gets suppressed and never to be heard from again... any help is appreciated at this point, I can't even bear to look at my laptop screen anymore because the flashing and flickering irritates my eyes. This seems like a problem with ALL y510p's, and I don't understand why anything can be done about it. Thanks in advanced.

From about 3 weeks ago, my Lenovo Y510p (GT 750M Sli, purchased in 2013) started to make this weird grinding/buzzing sound at random times on the CPU side of the fan. It was barely noticeable if I had headphones on at first, but starting from the second week the noise and vibration of it grew louder. After doing some research for possible fixes, I have tried the method openining Energy Management and running the Dust Removal feature to temporary solve the problem. However, that method only worked for about a week, and starting from the third week the buzzing remains very consistent even after I run Dust Removal several times. Does anyone here know what is the problem exactly? I know for other models, people have been able to solve the problem by updating their BIO driver provided by the website. But all Y510p users seen to have that problem early enough to just get a refund or send it back for exchange/repairment using their then still active warranty. I would like to know if there's any way that I can fix this without having to spend money for the fix when it is proven it is the company side issue since even fresh new purchases of the same model ran into the same exact problem within days.

Hi there! The headphone jack on my new Ideapad Y510P laptop seems to have problems whenever I plug in my headphones into it. The sound usually comes out of only the left bud until I twist and turn the jack and then the sound comes out of both buds. Would you guys happen to know of a solution to this problem? Thanks in advance for a reply

Did you try using other headphones? The plug is usually the culprit in those cases.

Hello.

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p and it has erratic BSOD behavior, usually after sleep mode, but not always. Would love to get to the bottom of it and appreciate any help you can provide!

I've attached the necessary file as per the BSOD posting instructions.

Thanks,
Alexander

Answer:BSOD on Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p, after sleep mode usually

Only 48 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 60 to 80 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available.

The memory dumps blame usbccgp.sys, but MSINFO32 lists ks.sys (kernel streaming of video driver)
And this seems to happen during a power down event (such as power off/hibernate/sleep/etc)

Finally, what applications do you delay using Startup Delayer?
What USB devices do you have connected?

I'm concerned about your version of Diskkeeper as it dates from Jan 2013 - well before Win8.1 was released.
Can you update it? If not, please uninstall it while we're troubleshooting.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

You may not find an update for this one, if so, just leave it be:

Hi, I recently got a Lenovo Ideapad Y510P. Within the first day of having it, the laptop began to randomly reboot without notice. I did the windows updates and nvidia... The rebooting continues. For a brand new laptop I wouldn't think I would have these issues.I am attempting to update drivers but I am having a hard time understanding which driver is needed when it gives me two different options for Windows 8, do I need them both or just one? The wording is also different between my Device Manager and the page Lenovo gives.Any other tips or suggestions on how to get rid of this random rebooting issue are more than welcome.

Hey! I recently bought an Ideapad Y510P from an American seller on eBay, despite myself being located in Australia.  My issue is that, my battery will not charge unless I insert the battery, while my laptop is booting up. So basically it won't charge if:I power on my laptop with the battery insertedIf I remove and reconnect the charger adapter while it's runningI'm not too sure why it is doing this, all I really know, is that is started after I ran a battery calibration using Lenovo Energy Management.  I've contacted Lenovo Australia, but they said that they can't assist me because the laptop was manufactured in the United States, so they keep directing me to the Lenovo US technical support.BUT I've called the technical support in the United States about 3 times now. Two of which resulted in the technical support officer ending the call abruptly. I also called Lenovo Indonesia, and I got hung up on again. I'm not a mean person at all, nor am I showing any impatience/anger. So I'm a little annoyed about that. The first guy who help me from the United States, told me to remove Lenovo Energy Management and he told me to also uninstall an ACPI battery in the Device manager. None of which actually helped But at least he tried to help me! I really want this fixed because I need my laptop to complete Uni coursework.  I'm also in love with it . It's the best laptop i've ever had, I just want to be able to use it properly again &... Read more

Hello, I have a ?Y510P Leonovo Ideapad? and found out, that the mainboard contains an empty port-connector labeled with ?SSD?. A picture of this connector is in the attached image. I am planning to upgrade the Laptop with an SSD-card to improve system speed. Within this context I have a couple of questions, regarding the specifications of this port and suitable SSD-cards: Does this port both accept SATA as well as PCIe SSD-cards?Is there a limitation on the maximum memory-size of the installed SSD-card? Can I install a 256GB SSD-card? (For example ?Transcend MTS400 256GB SSD?) ?Can I partition the SSD-card in a way to fully install Windows 10 on it, making it the boot partition. The SSD-card should then be visible as a standard drive C:\ under Windows. Can I also install a second operating system (Linux) onto a second partition on the SSD-card, making it a dual boot system?I would be very happy, if anyone could help me with these questions, so that I can upgrade the laptop with the appropriate SSD-card and configuration. Thanks in advance,electron8000

My brand new Y510 was shipped with Windows 8 but is now running Windows 8.1 without any significant issues, except for the long cold boot time -- 233.4 seconds BIOS time as shown under the Startup Tab in Task Manager. When the power button is pressed, the Lenovo logo screen comes up and stays like that for 233 seconds. Then the OS starts loading as shown by the circling dots. After that it takes around 45 seconds to complete the boot process. My question is -- how do I reduce the BIOS time from an unacceptable 233.4 seconds?Thank you.

I have a lenovo ideapad y510p and everything was fine until for I thought I'd do the battery reset in the lenovo energy management,at first the battery was dead and laptop wouldnt turn on,,I found one way around this which is that first I take the battery out and then insert the ac adapter, the laptop turns on then I put it in hibernate while I insert battery after which it seems to charge but only after I do these steps, but if I take the adapter out and insert it back in,it would stop charging.this is all because of the lenovo energy management software battery reset.I've uninstalled it but it doesnt work.any suggestions?I'm guessing one of the steps after full charge during the battery reset the battery gets drained where it says "plugged in and not charging" until it reaches zero is the problem.

Hello, so I've had this problem for almost a year now, and I've tried everything to fix it. First, I checked the levels of the microphone, set it as default, still no sound. I tried listening to the microphone, and I get green bars but not from me, just me playing with the microphone jack. I uninstalled the drivers, then reinstall the realtek audio hd sound driver, and that didn't help either. I don't know what to do from there and I need your help!

Hi chalessandro,

Thanks for Posting!
If you already reinstalled the driver which will reset the Audio Settings plus the Steps in this guide still won't make the microphone to work.

You can try to reach them here

Hi all,I have had my Lenovo for a little over a year. It suddenly decided to direct me to a troubleshooting blue screen (with options such as refresh and reset) if I try turning it on (It's labeled by the computer as automatic system repair.). All the options on troubleshooting, such as refreshing, resetting, or performing a system restore, are not allowing me to use them.I tried using the button near the charger to access the system restore and set it to its factory settings (with OneKey Recovery) but if I try turning it on, it still redirects to the automatic system repair and the blue screen. It is a month past warranty, so Lenovo is asking me for $99++ and 7+ business days to restore to factory settings.must be an easier way? I have all my files on Carbonite, so I really just need to get to the factory setting. Could anyone help me with some ideas? I really need this computer for work. It used Windows 8, which is what it initially came with.Thank you, and take care!!

If you can download installation media from Microsoft, you can create a bootable USB and boot from that to fix it. You need another computer (with internet connection of course) to do that though.

This has been an exhausting day! I've been trying to figure this out for quite awhile.

To start, I'll post some information.

My webcam was working fine yesterday! I tried doing a system reboot to the the week before that and alas the issue prevailed. My internal webcam is not being registered by my laptop!

So the solution that seemed obvious enough was to check my drivers, update them if necessary. Which I ended up doing. Alas, the issue prevailed.

Checking the device status, I received the error "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." The device is currently registered as 'Unknown device' as I uninstalled the driver. I was receiving the same error when I did have the original drivers though.
Looking up what the error means, it meant that the device was disconnected. I'm not entirely sure how this could happen though with an internal laptop. I also need to get a new copy of the drivers (Which don't seem to be registering the device upon installation).

Anyway any help would be appreciated as this has become a huge headache for me, and i just want to skype with my friend!

Answer:Need help with internal webcam drivers for Lenovo Ideapad y510p.

It might be that the webcam has failed if everything else has been tried.you can take it somewhere and have it looked at but im not even sure they can be fixed when they go. it might be cheaper just to get an external webcam such as a logitech.

Hello, I only found out after purchasing the Y510P laptop that it for some strange reason does not support 5Ghz networks, only 2.4Ghz. This results in me having insanely slow connection every single night around peak hours (7-11pm), and I'm unable to do anything like watching movies, playing games or download stuff. Does anyone know exactly how to upgrade the wireless card on this laptop so it supports 5Ghz networks? Do I have to go out and buy another wireless card, or is it software upgrades like drivers only? I'm not a computer major so a walkthrough would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have had my Y510p for only a few weeks but it has taken me many evenings of hard work to get the laptop into a usable state. The laptop came with Windows 8 and a cost free update to Windows 8.1 in the app store. Upgrading created a whole slew of problems not only with drivers but also with the scaling of applications such as Chrome which required googling to find how to change the settings so that a decent font resolution was possible for all apps. One of the initial most irritating problems was that the touchpad could not be set to be stable - it was constantly jittery and when right clicking it often took several attempts to get a right click menu up on the screen before any of the options could be clicked. Also it was impossible to set the touchpad to do single finger vertical scrolling. The final main irritation was that there was no way to set it so that a gentle tap on an appropriate area of the touchpad would give the equivalent of a right click on a mouse. Usng the clickable bottom right of the touchpad was very frustrating all the time as well as  noisy, and I was close to abandonning the touchpad altogether, and resorting to plugging in a mouse instead. This remained a complete frustration until earlier this evening when I finally found the solution, not through the Lenovo site but on another laptop forum.  The Lenovo support matrix shows that the current driver available for the Synaptics touchpad is version 17.0.10.12.  On the ... Hi,I had my lenovo for a few months now and it was running fine until this problem started to appear. After I put my computer to sleep/hibernate/shutdown at night, the next morning it failed to power up. What is wrong with my laptop? Do i need to change my motherboard? I did the lenovo hardware check and it says nothing is wrong with my motherboard or hard drive. Please help!!Thank you

Answer:Lenovo ideapad y510p failed to power up after sleep/shutdown

hi mikebui1204,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

When the machine turns ON, it undergoes hardware functionality check via POST. If the machine suddenly turns off then it's likely that there's a hardware that's either not properly initializing or is malfunctioning.

In addition to the motherboard and HDD diagnostics that you already ran, can you consider running a test  on the GPU , memory, and CPU.
- Lenovo Diagnostic Solutions (see Quick Tests)

Also, if you have the 2nd GPU via ultrabay, try to temporarily remove it and observe.

I've been having problems with my ideapad y510p, just as i bought it. After 3 times sent to warranty because the laptop won't charge (either with or without the battery), i found it was the Energy Management software preinstalled that was messing it up. After running a battery calibration (supposedly to improve the battery life), it discharges the battery and, supposedly, without shuting down, it should charge it again, but instead, without warning, turns off and restarts as if i had disconected the lap. all's well until i disconnect the laptop to take it to work. now (and the last 2 times) it won't receive any power. IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN FIX THIS? i want to check here before sending it to warranty service, as i've been receiving an awful service, and it seems to be a problem with software (lenovo's software), it probably won't be covered (that sucks, guys, it's your software, but anyways). please, please, a little help, i paid good money for a laptop that's been used like 2 weeks in 4 months

Answer:Lenovo ideapad y510p overheating|Non-paged pool too high

Your Chrome/Steam open temps are higher thean expected. You should buy a laptop cooler, that would be my advice. Its the first step in keeping this laptop cool and running long.

Now, to the crashes. I also get Display driver Stopped working on accassions, not specifically related to Temp.

1) How do you know that laptop crashes as soon as temp hits 85? (Since you are playing a game, how do you know)
2) You Paging File (Virtual memory) size is fine at 8192, no need to change that)
3) Do not update BIOS, unless you are sure of what BIOS version you are installing.
4) Is your system SLI configuration?

Now try these steps -

CLEAN Drivers Install -
1) Download NVIDIA driver 337.23 from the website.
2) Go to Control Panel >> Device Manager  >>Display
3) Uninstall the graphics card.
4) Go to Programs & Features and uninstall everything related to NVIDIA
5) Restart the laptop.
6) The drivers may  install automatically on restart. You can also install the drivers downlaoded in Step 1.
7) Restart and play a game.

Cannot say about your voltage offset but I can check that when I get home in CPU HW Monitor or GPU-z.

Are the games orignal? Sometimes cracked games can crash the drivers.

I played Shadow of Mordor and it crashed my drivers several times (maybe once every 4 hours), so its a problem with the game (or maybe my SLI config) but these things happen on a PC (laptop).

Like the subject said. I had a laptop I own back in 2014 and now my laptop does not want to turn on correctly anymore. I asked a local technician when I was on vacation during the middle of the week when I turned on the power button. Nothing displays on the screen. And I know my warranty has expired a year ago, but I am looking to see if it's possible to replace it with a working model or exchange the broken motherboard for a compatible replacement, even if the new motherboard is a different model, but works enough to be compatible with it. Was there ever been a recall on the motherboards when it was used for this laptop? Is there anything I can do for this laptop?

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y510P - motherboard fried, warrenty expired. Can I do anything about it?

Hi TheFallen13  ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can always proceed on POST (power on self test ) for the systemboard.
This would be to identify at what end did the systemboard fail specially if the power button would still lit solid.

Similar discussion ( a bit long but did resolved the issue on a unique way ) on this thread that you can review for things to check ,  Useful on issue as no display , power solid on issue.

Would pressing the Novo key turn on the pc? What is the Machine number from the sticker?

If another motherboard even a generic one would be compatible and fit nicely on the chassis , you can always custom built any laptops and you may even get spare refurbished motherboard in a recycle center or surplus shop.

Tried to check reports but no recall on the system and model and it may be an isolated case.
Update us how it goes.

So i have bought a lenovo laptop, the internet wifi worked good for 2 days but today i was deleting some things from x86 programme files.....so after that my wifi was connected but pages wont load, i tried reseting my pc and router but nothing. If you think i deleted a file then please upload them for me or tell me what to do, thanks!

Answer:Lenovo y510p wifi problem, please help !

It would be very hard to determine what was deleted. As it is a new laptop I would suggest that you perform a system restore using the NOVO button. If you have some important data on the system please back it up to an external drive before restoring. The NOVO button is on the left side of the laptop. Advice - Do not delete folders from Program Files or Windows folders. They are usually installed programs, you should uninstall them from Control Panel >> Programs & Features.

I tried with some new drivers and stuff but still the issue remains the same. I am currently using Windows 8.1. No matter which wifi I connect to , I get the same problem. Somebody please help me.

Hi guys, I have bought ideapad y510p with an already pre installed windows 8 and intel vga card. however, i have found out that the nvidia geforce GT 750M is not installed, so i have downloaded the driver with the latest version R331.65  So, normally i have installed the driver. and now even though that i have the latest drivers i wonder why i still have the 1366x768 as the highest resolution and not the 1920x1080. also to my wonder is why when i connect to the monitor it can have the 1920x1080 and not on the laptop screen. so please guys can you help me to have the 1920x1080 resolution? thanks and regards.

Answer:lenovo ideapad y510p doesn't configure to a screen resolution 1920x1080

Page 27 of the hardware maintenance maual list two types of display employed in this model.Y510p: 15.6" 16:9 FHD wedge type LED panel1920 × 1080 pixels Y510P: 15.6" 16:9 HD wedge type LED panel1366 × 768 pixels (200 nit) (IPS option) Based on your statement of the problem your unit must have the HD display and not the FHD one. Thus using this display will only result to a max of 1366x768. But if you use a higher resolution external display you can set it to a higher resolution. In other words your video card is capable of high resolution but it is limited by the display unit used in your computer.
