Preferred Solution: Help Micro sd card slot on my X1 yoga isn't detecting!!!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My X1 yoga arrived less than a week ago. Just discovered micro SD card does not lock into the slot i.e. no click. It pops back out immediately.  Should I do a Depot repair, return system or visit nearby authorized service location? Thx. I am in USA and have basic warranty.

Hi all, I've just taken ownership of the ThinkPad Yoga 370 and suspect that the Micro SD slot is faulty.  Basically, the card gets sticker into the slot once pushed in and it'll take a long time to slowly pull out the card from the slot. Also, the notebook doesn't detect the card when it's in.  Im pretty sure I got the right side of the card into the slot.  Can anyone confirm if the slot is suppose to eject the card with a "spring" motion? Cause I don't have that, that's why it's sticker.

Readyboost is used to supplement the RAM in your PC to speed up the boot process. If you want to see pictures or video stored on your SD cards then you need to turn it off. Click Here to find out how to do it

So, I've been trying to play a game (Shatter) that requires a video card with higher standards then the one built into my Inspiron 530 (G33/G31 Chipset Family). I decided to buy a new Nvidia video card (Nvidia GeForce 5600 AGP 256MB). I got it into the PCI slot (it did seem hard to get in) and now the device manager will not show the card. Any suggestions? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Hello HP support, Since I bought a hp tablet (x2-10-n111nd) with micro sd slot four months ago, I have had issues with a disconnecting micro sd card. I have had extensive contact through telephone with the HP support, but still the issue has not been resolved. The problem has been identified to be a bios issue, NOT a driver issue.  I am not the only one with this problem: see  http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-x2-210-Product-Nr-L5G94EA-AB... What especially frustrates me is that HP has never responded on the above thread or showed any action to find a solution to this problem. Will you finally respond now HP?

Hello, I have an A31p with two 512mb cards  (one in each slot) but it only shows 512mb total memory.I've tried swapping the cards between slots 0 and 1, and also tried removing the slot 1 card, and always end up with 512mb.I've run the PC doctor utility that comes on the laptop, but I haven't found much more info there.I assume this means there is a hardware problem with slot 1.  Any ideas of how to fix this?If there is no way to fix this, can I use a 1gb card in slot 0? Thanks in advance...

Answer:A31p only detecting one memory slot - is 1gb card ...

Welcome to the forum! One RAM slot going bad is a faily common problem on ThinkPads of that generation, the most affected one being T30, but I've seen it on A31/p, X30 and T23 as well...now, to the answers: a) You can install 1Gb DIMM in your A31p. Mine all have 2x1Gb and work great. b) You can also try putting additional pressure by applying a thin piece of paper between the DIMM and the slot itself, or putting a post-it or two between the cover and the slot. c) There are companies which do this type of motherboard repair, I  have heard good reviews about hammershead tech. Hope this helps.

Can anyone confirm if the new HP ENVY 13-ab004na laptop has an SD card slot or a Micro-SD card slot please? The website description suggests it is a micro SD card slot but the photo looks like a regular SD card slot: http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=Y3V82EA&opt=ABU&sel=NTB I asked HP via Twitter who said micro SD but also referred me to the above web page so I think they just read their own blurb. I cant really see why it would have a micro SD card slot - pretty pointless - but would like to get a definitive answer as it will influence my decision to purchase... I would have emailed HP customer support - if they had an email address !!

Answer:HP ENVY 13-ab004na - SD or Micro SD card slot?

It is an SD media card slot. You will need an adapter to use a micro SD media card.

My Windows 10 (64 bit) Lenovo Yoga 3 11 has been suffering from the constantly unmounting sd card problem for some months. It used to work, so I doubted the problem was hardware. I realise this thread is under Android tablets but I'm sure I've seen posts in this thread from Windows users.

I searched the internet for the problem and could find no definite solution.

So I decided to kick arse and came up with the following solution which worked a treat for me and my Windows 10 Lenovo Yoga 3 11:

Insert SD card
Open My Computer (file explorer), open properties of SD card, hardware tab, select SDHC Card, select properties, General tab, change settings, driver tab, select Uninstall
Download driver from http://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-2-pro-lenovo/download... and install the driver by double clicking the file
Download driver from http://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-13-notebook-ideapad/d... and install the driver by double clicking the file
Restart windows (may not be necessary)
SD card problem should now be solved!

I am waiting for my new Yoga 900. I read the so-called "full" SD Card slot is not 32mm deep as a standard SD Card. Can you confirm it is shorter? Is it 16mm deep like in the Yoga 2? Is there an adaptor for 128GB micro-SD that has the perfect size and been tried?

Answer:Yoga 900 SD Card slot

A standard SD card goes in only to 16mm, not the full 32mm depth.

How deep is the sd card slot in mm?  Im looking for possible storage expansion options prior to purchasing.

Answer:Yoga 3 11 SD card slot depth.

hi BradB111,

Welcome to the Forums.

From this specifications page, the Yoga 3 11 can take a 4-in-1 card reader (SD, MMC, SDXC, SDHC).

These SD cards have the following dimentions:
SD / SDXC / SDHC - 32.0×24.0×2.1 mm (1.260×0.945×0.083 in)
MMC - 32 × 24 × 1.4 mm

From the info above, the SD card slot likely have an additional 1mm in its dimension (33mm L x 25mm W x 3.1mm H).

I have a ThinkPad Yoga 14 with a EM7455 WWAN broadband card in the M.2 slot.  I can not for sure locate the SIM card slot so I can put in broadband provider sim (like one from T-Mobile or AT&T).  Documentation shows it on the back opposite the fans with a pin hole to pop out a SIM tray.  There is no slot on back of the case. I took the cover off the botton of the Yoga 14, which is where the M.2 slot is located.  At the back about where there should be a SIM card tray, there is a 8 contact SIM socket labeled SIM1 on the motherboard.  I am assuming this the cellular SIM card socket, but it will not take a micro-sim card.  It is to loose to hold it.  It looks like it needs a sim tray.Anyone have any experience with a ThinkPad Yoga 14 sim card or have a suggestion?  Photos of motherboard and sim slot below.    Thank you, Gerry          ??                                                                                          &... Hi all,  I'm contemplating making a MAJOR lifestyle change and converting from Mac to Windows and am seriously considering buying a yoga machine, but, I'm a little un certain about what model would be the right fit .  Right now I'm using a newer model Retina MacBook Pro and have most of my files backed up to a minidrive card that sits flush in the SD card slot of my laptop. I'm hoping that I will be able to take this out and plug it into a new Yoga so that it maintains a flush fit and dosen't stick out at all. HAving said that I was wondering if anyone in the community could help me out and offer an estimate or exact measurement onthe depth of thier  SD ports. I'm thinking about getting a Yoga 2 or 3 Pro but any input is greatly appreciated.   Thanks!!

Answer:ALL YOGA series SD Card slot...advice needed!

Hi,

In Yoga 3 Pro the SD card does not go all the way in and sticks out I'd say 2cm.

Hello, I have just gotten a T61P with a Smart Card Slot.  Is it possible to replace this with an Express Card Slot? I have looked at the parts lists and can see no differences in Motherboard or Bottom Case part numbers for a 6457-8LU ( which I have, and has a Smart Card Slot ) and a 6457-8Jx ( which has an Express Card Slot ). Looking at the FRU Manual, it looks like an involved process to get to the Card Slot, but I think I could handle it.  ( Electronics Tech for more years than I like to think about  :-)  ) Any input would be appreciated! Regards Michael

Well im not sure of a way to find that out it really is easy to open it up and take a look. And most video cards are compatible with every system as long as you match PCI card to PCI slot and AGP card to AGP slot ext.

Hi,

My laptop came installed with a 4GB RAM in slot2. The other slot has been free. Today I bought another 4GB module with same specifications and after inserting to slot1, it did not get detected.
I swapped the modules, and the new RAM is functioning perfectly. However, the RAM in slot1 is not getting detected.
I have installed CPU-Z, but it too did not detect slot1.
I have also run a memory test, but it did not detect any errors. The BIOS is also showing only 4GB!

What is the solution to this? I need my laptop to have 8GB RAM.

regards,
Rinjo

Answer:System not detecting slot 1 with 4GB RAM.

My guess would be, that your version supports only 4GB or 6GB according to the manual.
There is also mention, that it supports only 1.35V RAM, make sure both are setup the same.

Hi, I searched through the topics on Micro SD issues with the Ideapad 100s, and couldn't find anyone who had experienced something like mine.  Hopefully I am just missing something obvious. I bought an Ideapad 100s in April this year, and I just opened it today and started to use it.  I bought a blank Micro SD card for storage, but I'm not able to put it in.  I followed the instructions which say to slide it in, and wait to hear the click.  All I hear is the Windows sound telling me that it has been inserted and detected, but then it slides right out again.  I'm not quite sure how it is supposed to lock in place.  Is there some step that I am not taking? Thanks for your help.

Does it matter which PCI-E X16 slot you use? My board has 2 full X16 slots and I want to run my GTX590 lower down in the case to move it away from my soundcard.

Answer:Re: Satellite M60-104 PCI card Slot or Express Card Slot?

Did you take a look into the user manual?
There are all the details about the M60 series.

But as far as I know the M60-104 unit supports the Cardbus 32-Bit/PC-Card 16-Bit slot.
So you could use 1x PCMCIA Type-II only and 1x ExpressCard.

I have a AMD 7870 Dual slot video card on my Asus M5A99X-Evo Motherboard. It is installed in the first 16x slot...and I also have a PCI-e 1x XF-I Titanium Sound card. The problem I am having is that one of the 1x slots is covered by the video card, and the 2nd one is open, but right smack below the Video card. My Video card is the Sapphire 7870 GHz Edition non OC.. Attached is a picture of what I am trying to explain. My other question is: Will this cause issues since one of the GPU fans is semi covered? Its it recommended? Last question: If I move this to one of the 8x slots below on my motherboard, will it cause my 16x PCI-E slot to slow down? Thanks ahead of time for any help you can provide.

Computer Specs -

Asus M5A99x-Evo Motherboard (AM3+)
AMD FX 8350 8 Core (4Ghz)
Sapphire AMD Radeon 7870 GHz Edition (2GB)

DVD-ROM (SATA)

Answer:Question about PCI-e slot below dual slot video card

My opinion ...

Yes, setting up like that will have an impact. The air flow to your GPU will be restricted so it will more than likely run hotter than it did. It may still stay withing recommended specs, but it will run hotter.

The motherboard has onboard sound (Realtek® ALC892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC ), any particular reason why you don't use that? Onboard sound is perfectly good for gaming and the like now, its not like older machines where you needed a dedicated card for decent quality. In my opinion, you only need a dedicated card if you are doing a lot of detailed audio work (mixing, remastering and other specific audio work). This would totally remove the issue.

hi there,
i need to know which know which graphic card will fit for my computer. Ie i want to know which type: DDR ,DDR1 or ddr2 i bought my computer in 2007, but thats not enough to tell.
so please let me know how do i know which pci slot i have?

Answer:which graphic card slot do i require for my PCI slot

The type of memory doesn't matter, its the type of interface the computer supports among a few other things to watch for.

You likely have a PCI-Express slot, as long as it a x16 slot it doesn't really matter if its a version 1.1 or 2.0 slot.

Is this for your Dell or another computer? Whats you budget and what needs do you have for the video card?

Didn't get a display after the POST and OS Boot, so I moved it back to slot 2, un-installed the drivers for the card, then moved it back to slot 1... Same problem.. I'm getting tired of messing with these cards..

Hello, I am using a Yoga 12 trying to connect to an epson projector.  I am trying to connect via VGA using a USB3.0 to VGA adapter at the Yoga.  This is in a school environment and the HDMI port on the projector is not an option.  This method worked on the L440 model, but I can't get it to work on this model.  The Yoga is using Windows 10, no matter what I do it seems like it won't detect a 2nd screen (display settings show only one screen detected).  All of the latest drivers are installed.  Any input you may have in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Hello everybody, I got a problem with my Yoga 3 11 (besides the one with the throttle at 0.49 MHz) and its rather annoying since it was not like this from the start. Whenever Im trying to connect my Yoga to an external monitor via the micro HDMI slot, nothing happens anymore. I tried the "windows + P" of course but when I chose an option, nothing happens. Tried it with different monitors, different cables (both worked before) and with updating the drivers. I cant say what caused this problem and I cant tell exactly when it happened, but in ~November it worked fine.  The solution for the Yoga 2 series (cutting a bit away) does not work out, the cable has space when I put it in the slot entirely. Do you guys have any idea if I screwed the settings or where I could have a look to repair it?Would help me a lot since Excel is rather hard to work with on an 11 inch screen  Thanks in advance!

Answer:Micro HDMI on Yoga 3 11

Still no one with any idea? Also tried it with a projector, again no success.

Hi there, I have the Best Buy version of the THinkpad Yoga 14. for about 2 weeks now. When I first bought it, I tested it out and the pen works. Now I am in class and I tried using it and the pen is not registering. The touchscreen works (e.g. I can draw in OneNote with my finger). I tried hovering the pen over the screen and it is not registered at all.

I know the pen automatically charges when it is in the holder. So I think it should be fine on battery.

So I don't know what else to do to get the pen to work??

This morning I was using my laptop and I was charging it. After about an hour, I realized that the battery indicator had changed to something unfamiliar. The symbol says that the battery is not being detected by my computer. I don't know what exactly caused this. At the time, I was playing a flash game that I have been playing regularly for the last five months. I've had the computer since August of last year. Otherwise, everything else is working fine.

Hello, I have a Yoga 2 13 laptop with Win 10 and wanted to use an external monitor. So I got a micro HDMI to HDMI cable and hooked it up to my monitor, but surprise, it does not work.I already tested the micro HDMI to HDMI cable and the monitor with my Sony A6000 camera,it worked fine, first time and every time.Already read the Yoga 2 Pro thread about cutting a bit of plastic off the micro HDMI cable, not neccessary, measuread the depth of the micro HDMI port on the laptop, 5.2 mm,and the length of the metal part of the micro HDMi cable, 5.5 mm. When I plug in,I can hear and feel the click-in-place of the cable in the port, it goes all the way, and thereis still a bit of room, 0.3mm, left on the outside, so definitely not a metal part length problem.Already tried un- and re-installing both the Lenovo and the Intel driver for the Intel VGAdisplay card, no fix.Basically it behaves like this, when I plug the cable, the monitor wakes up, but immediatelysays "Entering Power Save Mode" and goes back to sleep, like it recognizes a connectionbut there is no video signal coming. On the laptop there is no sign of a connection,in the Display settings, when I press Detect, I get "Didn't detect another display."Also tried changing the order of plugging the cable and powering up the monitor,no solution.Tried giggling a little bit the cable inside the port, nothing. What else can I try? What can I debug ?Anyone else is using this setup?, does ot have similar problems ?Thank you so much.

Hi, I've got a Thinkpad Yoga with the built in 128gb SSD, and have been thinking about upgrading the storage. As it came with the 128gb SSD from the factory, I'm assuming the M2 slot will be free... Does anyone know what the specifications of the M2 slot are, or if it is usable for a non-caching drive? I'd love to put in a 512gb M2 SSD for my additional storage needs - it would just complete what I see as an otherwise perfect device. Obviously if this is not possible, I will simply replace and clone the existing SSD, but if I can avoid that it'd be ideal. Thanks!

Hi all, I have a Yoga 2 Pro with Windows 8.1 Pro and the SD card slot is not working.  Reloaded the drivers, tried different SD cards and still can't get it to work.  Nothing shows up in disk management, its like the card slot doesn't exist. Tried a bunch of things with Lenovo tech support, but no solution.  Any ideas before I have to send it back to Lenovo and be down a laptop for 10 days? Thanks in advance for your help!

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro SD slot not working

Uninstall drivers and instead of installing drivers from the Lenovo website, just reboot windows and let windows handle the installation. See if that helps. Also check device manager to make sure there are no warnings on that specific device. Also check the SD card..make sure it is not in the "Locked" position. The reader would not be able to read it if it is locked.

The new generation of fast SD cards called USH-II has a second row of contacts.  While much faster download speeds are possible, the hardware and bus must support this standard.  While UHS-I cards can be used, UHS-II cards are potentially much slower in UHS-I slots. Does the Yoga 3 - or any Lenovo laptop - support UHS-II SD cards at this time? If they don't the workaround is to use a USB 3.0 card reader with a UHS-II slot.  The card readers run around $40.  Older card readeer are usually UHS-I.

That is a good question. Thanks for posting. I've been wondering about that myself.  I've used a Kensington cable lock for years on my ThinkPads, but haven't been able to with my Yogas. I have had my Yoga 2 Pro for about a week now. Slowly adapting to the ins and outs of the device. Just recently acquired a micro-HDMi to HDMi adapter to connect the Yoga 2 to my TV. Needless to say I was a bit dismayed when I noticed that the adapter worked, but only if I tugged on the connection (towards the front of the machine). When I let go, the screen would disconnect and I would have no picture. This angered me a bit. I read a bit about others having the same issues.I slept on the issue one night and then in the morning I decided to take matters into my own hands. Grabbed a nail file I had laying around and shaved off about a nail file's width off of the end of the micro-HDMi connector. I could barely see any difference in the cable connector. Then I tried plugging it in and voila. No issues whatsoever. Tried angling the connector towards the back, down, up, front. No interruptions...I know it is a bit frustrating, but I like the rubbery feel of the Yoga 2 body and was willing to do a bit of DIY to make this work. Took about 5 minutes in total. Now am happy again...Give this a try if you have a problem with the connection.Just thought I'd share... lootzius

I'd like to get video from a Yoga with micro-HDMI output (female) to a monitor with (normal) DisplayPort input (female). I've looked around and there don't seem to be many good solutions for this. Aparently HDMI to DisplayPort is not possible without an active adapter? The best I've been able to come to is: 1) Monoprice high speed micro HDMI (male) to HDMI (female)then2) Cable Matters HDMI (male) to DisplayPort Converter (female) - this plugs in USB for powerthen3) DisplayPort cable (male to male) Are there any better solutions for this? That's $55+ just to get to DisplayPort. I also think the Cable matters converter will likely send at max 1080p signal. Thank you for your input(s).

Answer:Yoga micro-HDMI to Displayport options

What model of monitor is it, if it is a DP++ input it should be able to use a passive adapter but will be limited to I believe up to 1920x1200.

I'm unable to get my X1 Yoga to detect external monitors when plugged into the OneLink+ dock. This started occuring when my computer upgraded to the creators update. I thought I found a thread of others with the same issue (linked below), but it turns out I was waiting for a fix that didn't apply to me. I'm super frustrated right now. Stuff I've tried so far.1. Updated all drivers using Lenovo Service Bridge (even optional drivers)2. Installed the Fall Creators update preview (after being told it would fix the issue)3. Completely reinstalled Windows4. A Single VGA monitor5. A Single Display Port Monitor6. 6 different cables At this point I'm convinced there's an issue with the dock. There's a firmware update available for it, but you can't install it unless it is actively connected to a monitor (go figure).  When attempting to install, I get the code 255 "Can't connect to Synaptics VMMxxxx DP hub IC" If anyone has any sugestions, I'd greatly appreciate it. I have a Twist S230u and just purchased a Transcend 64GB micro SDXC card (UHS-1 rated), which comes with an adapter to the SD interface that is compatible with the Twist's media card reader. Up to now, I have not tried to use any card larger than 32GB in the media card reader, and have never had a problem, whether using true SD cards or micro SD via adapters. But with the new card, I seem to be able to access only the first 32GB of memory. Once that limit is reached, files put on the card seem to go down the memory hole in a very strange way: As long as the card is active in the machine, files continue to transfer over to the card with no error indications.  But if you try to read them, they seem to open as empty (perhaps as filled with zeroes?). The file properties show correct information, and there is no data access error in trying to open one of of these files, but application programs complain of corrupted (wrong format) data. Now, if you eject the card and put it back in, the system complains of problems and asks if you want to scan and repair. Electing to do so yields the baffling response that the card was scanned and no errors were found! On top of this, the system still complains of card errors and asks if you want to scan and repair. This cycle will continue indefinitely.  But if you elect to skip the scan and use the card anyway, the directory seems readable, all the files seem accessible -- EXCEPT that files put on the card past 32GB have disa... Read more

Answer:Only 32GB accessible on micro SDXC card via Twist media card reader

More information: It appears that the file system on the card looks OK to DSKCHK, but the dirty bit is set. Trying to reset it with fsutil, I am told that the computer cannot write to the card. I have tried to do this two separate ways: 1) by having the card (in its SD adapter) in the Twist's built-in card reader, and 2) by putting the card (in its adapter) into a USB SDHC card reader. The card can be read perfectly in both situations, but can neither be written to (including dirty bit reset) nor formatted. Command-line tools show the filesystem as extFAT, so it seems as if Windows 8 understands the card format. I alerted Transcend tech support to this and they simply replied that the card in question was 64GB (which I told them!), and I needed to be sure that my computer hardware could give me full access to the entire 64GB range. Can anyone point me to a spec for the S230u that says definitively what the upper limit on card capacity is through the built-in media card slot?

I have looked through all the documentation from Lenovo and on these forums and have not been able to determine which version of the HDMI spec (1.4 or 2.0) the micro-HDMI port supports. Although this laptop has a 4K display, I wouldn't necessarily expect that the micro HDMI port to be 2.0 but it would make since and would be a smart thing to do.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro won't display on External Screen (thru micro HDMI)

I have done more troubleshooting and found out that if I push and lift the cable plugged into the micro hdmi port on the Yoga 2 Pro then I get a video connection.  It seems that the female hdmi port on the laptop is quite recessed.  I am using a new RocketFish micro hdmi to hdmi cable (RF-AP316).  It seems like the cable male plug is not long enough to fit in the female port (some women have big problems with this).  The bezel of the plug is absolutely flush with the side of the labtop unlike the usb and power plugs that "bottom out" in their female connectors and show a slight space between the bezel of the plug and the side of the laptop.  IT seems that he micro hdmi male plug is not bottoming out in the female port which is preventing a good connection.  This seems like it could be a design flaw with the laptop as I believe most cables will have this problem.  But if I apply vertical pressure to the plug it gives me the video on the monitor.  The new Yoga 2 Pro has a ruberized material around the sides of the laptop to provide good grip and protection when in stand mode etc, and this is what creates the space between the port and the plug.  I will try to go buy another cable but have little faith it will work.  Worth a try though.  Will post my findings.

For quite a long time I've been planning to buy the Yoga 720. However, I don't have money to buy anything but the base model. Even though only 8gb of ram doesn't bother me too much at the moment, I would like to upgrade eventually down the line. A sales representative has shown me the PSREF. Through checking there, I seem to find that the only models with an extra slot are the ones that come with 16gb of ram (8gb soldered and an extra slot filled with 8gb stick). Does that mean that the model: 80X7001WUS  has only 8gb soldered in without room for upgradeability?  Thanks for any information.

Answer:Does the yoga 720 have an extra ram slot on the base model?

Hello and welcome,

If you scroll down the page you linked and expand specifications you'll find a link to the base spec.  The way I read it they all have a RAM slot which may or may not be occupied depending on specific MT-M.

That said, I have no personal experience with this model.  This is based on what I read below.

I experienced the same - and also inconsistently that the system is going sluggish/lagging heavily. To fix problem with HDMI downgrade to drivers for Win8.1 - it works but hopefully Lenovo will fix this issue with Win10 drivers!? Overall upgrading to Win10 has been a bad experience (regarding the lagging of the system which usually occurs after 20-30 min after logging on). I've tried removing all third-party startup programs (including Lenovos) - but to no help. The frustration is increasing - any tips will be appreciated :-)

Hi Has anyone had a problem with their yoga 2 pro shutting down when pluggin in a micro hdmi cable? And if so is this fixable? I noticed a user at notebookreview forum had the same issue but it seemed to go away using a different cable - I am just wondering whether, irrespective of whether it works with another cable, i should return my machine in case it goes wrong again in the future with a different cable that may work initially... Thanks

Answer:yoga 2 pro system shuts down when plug in micro hdmi cable

I have the same issue, I have to insert the cable when the computer is turned off. I also had the problem that the socket is too receased to allow the cable to connect properly.

The micro-HDMI port on my Yoga 2 Pro needs to be replaced.  I'm hesitant to send it out for repairs, as there are no authorized repair centers in the country according to Lenovo's website, so it would likely take some time to ship to the US, and I need access to the software for business purposes.  So I have two questions that hopefully someone whose been in a similar situation could answer... 1. Am I able to order specific components for the Yoga 2 Pro, without sending it in for repair?  It looks as if the HDMI port resides on a circuit board that could be swapped out? 2. If I need to send it in, is there a process for creating an image of the SSD (or more specifically the partition that has Windows 8.1 on it) so I'm able to run it on another machine?  Cheers,

Answer:Ordering Yoga 2 Pro micro-HDMI port replacement part

Just a had a look at the Parts Lookup section of the support website.  It looks like the part that I need is part #90004971 - "VIUU3 SSD Board".  But it is apparently not customer-serviceable.  So that leaves me with option 2.

Answer:Satellite P200D-12z - Card Reader driver needed - SD card slot issue

Did you install a generic version of Windows? You need to install the AMD chipset driver first, so other PCI devices can install properly.

What is the size capacity of the SD Card?
Are you running XP? You may need to install Service Pack 3, or a Microsoft hotfix for SDHC support.

I bought a SB X-Fi notebook card for my x-41 Tablet - it is an Express 34mm card.  My X-41 takes type 1 & 2 cards, I believe it on on a Card Bus.  Does anyone know if an adapter will make this sound card work - either express to pcmcia or express to USB?I have USB 1 - not USB 2 - I have done a lot o research and am waiting for a response from Creative Labs, who makes the card.  I will post when I find out.

Lately, My laptop is very slow in recognizing my usb stick, or my Hard drive (usb 3.0) or my sxs cards through my express card slot. It 's also slow in recognizing my sd-cards through my card reader. I have a very fast laptop. A lenovo W530.

I just started a while ago, and I can't get it to recognize faster . Everything else works just fine and fast.... but it takes up to 4 minutes to recognize these things.

Can somebody help?

Tx

Answer:Laptop slowly recognizes usb stick/sd card/xpress card slot

Hey tidri. 2 things come to mind if it previously worked. One is a reinstall of all the drivers for the mobo, and the other is a full AV/Malware/Rootkit scan. If everything checks out, a full format and an OS reinstall would be my third move.

I have thinkpad w530 w windows 8.1 I am trying to capture video footage into my computer using a firewire card that of course plugs into the MEDIA CARD READER SLOT. I can't get the computer to recognize my camcorder- the camcorder connection does not show up in DEVICE MANAGER I am using HDVSPLIT to capture the video and also in hdvsplit there is a message, "camera not recognized" or something like that.  I am not sure if the media card reader is bad, or maybe the firewire card is bad or maybe it is the hdv split that is the problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Answer:How do I tell if my Media Card Reader/Express card slot is functioning correctly?

Hello,

Could it be the ExpressCard slot that the FireWire card plugs into?  I've never seen a FireWire card that plugs into the media card slot used for SD Cards.

FireWire cards can be a little tricky to get working sometimes, especially when interfacing with a camcorder.

Have you checked with the manufacturer to see if Windows 8.1 drivers are available for it?  Even if they are not, it may be possible to use Windows 7 or even Windows Vista drivers.

Once you have verified that the FireWire card is recognized, plug the camcorder in again, amd see if it gets recognized.  If it does not, check with its manufacturer for Windows 8.1 drivers, just like you did with the FireWire card.

At that point, the hardware should all be working with Windows 8.1.
