I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:Lenovo ideapad yoga 11 bios

Turn off computer> Press the OKR button> BIOS If the BIOS ain't broken, don't try to fix it. In other words, if your computer works fine and you are able to access the BIOS, LEAVE IT ALONE and don't try downloading one from Lenovo's website.

A message popped up saying I have a critical update and then this message says it is only for these models. Is it safe to say if I get this message then my laptop is one of these models? Answer:Enter Bios Lenovo Ideapad YOGA 11

Hi coucoune1633 ,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

To enter the BIOS , turn off the pc and use the Novo key (item1 page12) to power on .
Novo menu would appear offering BIOS set up (for changing boot options etc. )
System recovery option from one key recovery initial back up would delete everything and restore to factory defaults.

About booting to safe mode:
Since starting with Windows 8 and up , usual F8 on boot is deeply embedded on the recovery making it hard to access.

If Windows cannot boot to a viable stage for to access advance recovery menu :

1. Shift + F8 works on some system , do it at same time you see the lenovo splash screen repeatedly.

2. Forcing recovery mode on windows 8 : turn on then suddenly turn off pressing the power button , then on and off again for 2-3 attempts , Turn on and see if recovery screen would show up for the advance option.

3. Some system have F11 / F12 on BIOS to launch the recovery / boot option

4. Using a bootable media ( USB rescue image often useful for repair / back up  , using Windows media creation tool  )
If Windows 8/10 does not start: (using the command line)
How to boot into Safe Mode from the Windows 8/10 installation media or recovery USB flash drive.

Hi,One day my laptop (lenovo ideapad yoga 13) stopped working. Every time I turned it on I got a notice that there is no SSD (don't remember the exact notice). So I got a new SSD, but the computer still doesn't recognize the drive (the bios has: hard drive - not detected). The laptop has an additional slot for a SSD, so I tried using the other one instead (tried every variation of drives in slots.... well, except of no drive in both slots, but I'm sure that win't work....)When I insert a bootable usb with ubuntu installation on it, it starts fine, only can't install the OS because there is no disk space.I'm sort of lost with this....Is there anything I'm missing? Is there anything I need to do in order that the computer will recognize the SSD? When repairing another computer (with a HDD) all I did is insert the new one, so I figured it's the same here. Thanks a lot!!!!!p.s - while trying to figure out the problem, I saw a small switch (with 2 states, that cannot be accessed without opening up the laptop) next to the SSD slot. I thought it might have something to do with that, so I played with it a little. Well, it didn't work, and now I don't remember where it started out. I'd also like to know what's that switch, and also where does it have to be.

Hi, I changed the wifi card to a Intel Wireless-AC 7260 to have 5Ghz and decent speed. The BIOS does not accept this as it is not whitelisted. Manually modifiying the BIOS would not be a huge problem but i refuse to do this because I bought this laptop with my money, don't want any company (neither Lenovo nor FCC) to limit what I do. I live in germany, so FCC is not my part. I bought this laptop and can do with it whatever I want. I am just pissed about this and dont want to spend my own time to fix this. I never had a Laptop with device whitelist before. Would I have known this before I bought it, I would have chosen another device / company. Is there anything I can do to avoit manipulating the BIOS on my own? Thanks for help. Silberling.

Hi, after using Google and searching through forums I'm still stuck with the following problem. For a installation at the Deutsches Museum in Munich I need the Yoga to boot itself at a defined date/time. Shutting down is not the problem, but automatic boot is. Normally there are two ways how to do this- Wake on LAN- Wake on RTC- Wake on Power (if a PC gets connected to a power source it will start automatically) I'm missing those options in the BIOS settings. But maybe I've overread something. Maybe I have to look somewhere else. The only source I found (not yet tested) was https://tinkertry.com/wol-over-usb3 where I have to built my own solution. Anyway, is there any chance to boot the the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro or Yoga 3 Pro at a specific date/time? Best wishes

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro/Yoga 3 Pro - Missing BIOS function to automatically boot the Yoga at specific time

I have been spending hours to find a way to apply WOL to a yoga 3 pro. I could not believe that it is simply not there. Is that to protect the user or a mistake? Is there an update I missed somewhere, or is a correction  being prepared? Thanks

I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... My daughters Yoga 11S has thin horizontal line. She is in college.Should I panic?  Do I need to worry about full "black screen" crash?Missed warranty by 2 months. Disappointed anyone have ideas or suggestions?

Answer:Thin horizontal line on Yoga Ideapad Yoga llS

hi kbrunk,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums and sorry to hear about your trouble.

Horizontal lines are commonly caused by an imminent failure on the LCD (either the LCD panel or the LCD cable) or the GPU. To identify which component is failing, the unit must be connected to an external display. If the display is fine then the culprit is the LCD cable, otherwise, it's the GPU (which is integrated to the CPU (CPU is soldered to the motherboard)).

In the event that the problem is with the LCD cable, you can opt to:
1. Contact lenovo for service
2. Have the machine serviced at a professional computer repair center (if they don't have the parts for the repair, you can purchase it online (like this item).

If it's not convenient to have the unit serviced at the moment (ie. need it for an upcomming exam, thesis, etc.), the computer can still be used if the horizontal line is still bearable but I recommend you get it serviced ASAP.

Regards

Hi,
I have Lenovo Ideapad 300-15ISK type/model 80Q700DRSC.
I want to update BIOS, so I downloaded D5CN47WW. In text file it is written that this is BIOS for my computer.
Everything seems fine but when I execute BIOS exe file it says that this is BIOS for Lenovo Paris 300 notebook!
What Paris now? I tried to google but only can find Paris in France.
I am user of Lenovo notebooks for many years (from IBM ThinkPads to this days) but when txt Readme file said
this is update for your computer, it was! This is confusing for me so I cancelled update.
Can anybody explain this mistery?
Thanks in advance

Hello my friends ! A time ago i bouhgt two Lenovo ideapad 100 14 IBY (FreeDos Version) and install Windows 10 on it with UEFI and GPT Partition Table. All works fine until i want to play around with Linux and install UBUNTU Mate in UEFI on one of them. The install was easy but the Performance on Ubuntu with Bay Trail and the don't working Bluetooth was a reason to switch back to Windows 10. After that the Problem beginns. The Bios don't let me save changes anymore (only time and date !). There was no UEFI ESP and GPT Support since i install UBUNTU and the Bios Menu looks like that:Bios Entries on a blank DiskBootingThe Disk is Blank there is no ubuntu on there (Don't know waht the EFI Entries are no Hardware is connected). And when I boot also go to Network Boot there.(No Matter a USB Stick is connected). So what i did: # I Dismantle it and disconnect Battery and Cell and wait half an hour. # Nothing changes !# I change the HDD. # Nothing changes !# Reflash the BIOS by edit the plattform.ini - CheckByBios=1 - Error Cannot mount EFI Partition. # Nothing changes !# Install Windows 10 - Make mbr2gpt.exe and bcdedit and bootrec. # Nothing changes ! I can install and run Windows 10 in MBR and BIOS Mode on it. But no USB Stick was displayed in Boot Menu. So now Iam on my Limit and the Question is there a way to put UEFI and GPT back on it or does the BIOS locked in this State. For me UEFI is MALEWARE so why can a simple UBUNTU damaged my BIOS and ... I took out my 1TB 5400RPM Harddrive that came with the Ideapad Z585 and replaced it with a faster 500GB 7200RPM Harddrive.  I then changed the boot sequence in the Bios to start from the CD/DVD drive and installed windows 8 from Windows disks. I also installed the necessary drivers.  I made the new drive have only two partitions and no recovery partition. After installing windows the laptop was working great until I pressed F2 and went back into the Bios.  While in the Bios I changed the boot sequence back the way it was to boot from Harddrive first.  I also removed my password. Now everytime I try to save and exit the Bios the screen goes black, then goes right back into the bios. I removed the 500GB Harddrive and went back to the original 1TB harddrive that came with it.  Now the Bios works fine.  How do I make it so the bios works with the new drive? Thanks for the help Greg

When windows 8 was installed was it in uefi mode and the disk formatted as a gpt disk? I'm referring to the 500 Gb 7200 rpm hdd. Aditional question: Is the Windows 8 that you use 64-bit?

hey kayjay,im currently checking with the engineers about this and will get back to you as soon as i can

Just checked with engineering, It is because those people purchase a new machine and those will normally have  the newest BIOS from manufacturer.

However Lenovo does not always update BIOS to the latest version except that when we need BIOS to solve some problem.

It is normal that the BIOS in the support site not to be the  newest.

HI, Please skip to paragraph six for the actual issue I am having--the preceding paragraphs include info that may help to identify how to fix this. I am posting this using my HP desktop running Windows 7 as my Lenovo Ideapad 110 cannot connect to internet as explained below: Firstly, Sorry if I am breaking community guidelines in any way with this post. I did multiple searches but only came up with "forgot my BIOS password-how can I reset it" type posts. I am looking for urgent help to get back into the "BIOS" of my Lenovo IdeaPad 110 running preinstalled Windows 10. Everything was running fine until yesterday. This is when I made the mistake of thinking I knew more about the system than I actually seem to lol :/ So, yesterday--I entered the "BIOS" screen upon startup using F2 (function key+F2). I went on to disable wireless connection ability (to test something unrelated), and also switched Boot from strait UEFI boot mode to legacy/UEFI boot-with UEFI being the default boot option.  I don't know if any of the above have to do with the issue I am now having but I wanted to share it just in case. Here is the real issue as of now: Also yesterday at the same time while in "BIOS", I also went on to set an "admin password", the one you must type in before you can even get to the lenovo splash screen to enter "BIOS". Basically I believe this is referred to as a POST password although I am not an expert cleary (hence asking for the experts' he... Read more

Hi, I have the ideapad 300-14ISK (80Q6) were it comes with a HDD of 1Tb, I recently updagre it with a 250Gb SSD from Sandisk, and the computer does not detect the HDD at first power one, but if I restart with ctrl + alt + supr it restarts and then loads win 10 without problems. bios version is: D5CN43WWEC version is: D5EC43WW I have reset default settings, enter the secure boot to setup mode, reset factory ec from bios, swap to legacy (just testing because win 8 and up must be on UEFI) and nothing works but problem was very identified because only happend when is SSD and detect until second boot. if I power on, then power off and then power on, it be considered as two cold power on so it does not detect HDD, for detect drive must restart after the first boot does not detect in order to work.

This laptop came with DDR3 1066 4gb ram (0914 model), and I upgraded it with 8gb of 1333 DDR3, yet the laptop only utilizes the ram speed of the 1066 still, (confirmed using several diagnostic utilities; AIDA 64, Speccy, etc) I need to be able to access the advanced options in the bios to configure the ram timings. Normallly (all the time) the bios "advanced menus" are non-existant, but this ONE time where I booted it up and by luck it had ALL insydeh20 bios options unlocked (don't ask me why I chose to fiddle with the bios at that exact moment, I dont recall  ) Anyway, I was hoping that there was maybe a key combination or something that I had inadvertadely pressed at that time to access these advanced options. I spent extra money getting this ram off newegg vs the original 1066 replacement oem (it was recomenned by newegg i go with the 1333)... I would hate to see my money somewhat wasted due to not being able to utilize the full clock speed of the new ram.  I should add that I have done extensive google research on this topic and I have fiddled around with modifying the "EFI" of bios to create my own custom rom, but should it really be so hard? Lenovo should allow us access to this naturally. And the i5 480m is stock clocked at 2.69 ghz but can "turbo" up to 2.9ghz. To me, I the only thing I see keeping me from reaching the 1333 is the bios menus being hidden away. If anyone has some insight on this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Answer:Ideapad Z560 Question about Insydeh2O BIOS configuration - RAM Timings, Bios Advances Options

The site Compuram clearly show that your system can run on the 1333mhz ram, I think you should try updating your chipset drivers in device man.  P.S. You could try Intel® Driver Update Utility and do an auto detect to see if it will update your chipset drivers to see if they work with the 1333mhz ram

Hi,  I have a Thinkpad Yoga S1 which has served me well for a year or so.  Recently it has started to develop a problem where it "stalls" upon boot.  1. Laptop is powered off2. Press power button3. laptop keyboard lights up and fan begins spinning4. about 3 seconds later the entire system shuts down5. The process repeats Sometimes I can leave it in this cycle for 3+ minutes and it'll just keep cycling. If I close the screen it halts the cycle (shuts the computer down) and occassionally upon power up it'll cycle a couple of times and then boot into Windows. Here is a video of the symptom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THCn6yFuprY   When it has booted into Windows, I have taken the liberty of running a Lenovo Solution Centre hardware scan. Processor, Memory and Motherboard all came back good. However, when I tried to update the BIOS, the system returned an "Error-116 Failed to read BIOS from ROM" Further, "Error 116" is listed as an IBM System board read/write error.  Unfortunately my warranty ran out a couple of months ago, so I'm looking at a self fix, and don't have any appetite to pay £800 for a new main board (besides, the one in my laptop was a new one installed by IBM under a warranty repair 4 months ago! It shouldn't be broken).  Can anyone suggest any fixes?

Hello, I have a lenovo ideapad Yoga 13, bought in Thailand in 2013 with no more warranty. Not long ago i managed to spill a whole cup of tea over the right side of the keyboard. To my surprise it appears that I only managed to destroy the SSD, as the laptop turns on and just doesnt find anything to boot from.  so, my plan is the following: open that machine up,take out the ssd and put in this "ADATA 128GB XPG SX300 MSATA SOLID STATE DRIVE" . Here is my question number 1: will this likely fix my problem or is there a good chance i fried something else that im just not aware of? ok, say i do this and everything suddenly works again. Can I just install windows8 or whatever and it will recognize the license somehow? Bios does mention "license type: win8 std sgl". I have neglected to make a recovery USB thingy because im lazy. Also, how would i go about finding out what my windows version was exactly, i assume if i try to install 8.1 if i have an 8 license i might screw things up. Also not positive what the "base" language was, english or thai. Or does it not matter at all? thanks in advance for any advice, thomas

Answer:ideapad Yoga 13 - replacing SSD

So, I guess you are able to see BIOS and get upto a black screen where it just doesnt find a boot drive?

You could try booting from a USB first, just to make sure that your USB ports are working. You will need to create a bootable USB using Windows copy. I believe you can download windows from Microsoft or any other website.

The thing to note here is that the windows to be downloaded should be the same as what was on your system, I think it should be Home edition.

Also some of the Fn keys - i don't know what they do. Is there an explanation somewhere? Thanks

i probably wont be able to explain this properly but i will try my best else i will be going to contact lenova via hte phone.

For some reason i cannot launch anything on my lenova ideapad yoga 11 s.

for instance i click on the internet explorer icon in my little panel or the camera or the calendar or the photo's icon and they do not actually open, what happens is that they appear in the bottom task bar as if they are open but they arent opened i cannot see or access them.  To open internet explorer i have to go to the search field on the computer and click on it here once it appears and then it opens.
does anyone know what the problem is with the computer and why it has suddenly started doing this.

I am not sure where to post this query on the lenova forum so if its the wrong section could you let me know and i will re-post in the correct forum.

Thanks in advance.

Hello there. I have an IdeaPad Yoga 11S, and the OEM 128GB SSD is running out of space. I believe the OEM SSD is a 1.8-inch drive. So if I were to get a larger SSD, would it have to be 1.8" as well, or could I use a 2.5" drive instead? I already have a 2.5" 500 GB hybrid drive that might work well, or I might just go buy a new SSD...but the 2.5" drives are cheaper and more widely available than the 1.8" drives.

G'day people,So my issue is the following: after around 6 months of mild use of my relatively new tablet (afterall, a 6-month old machine isn't old, is it?), one morning it just died on me. It happened several weeks ago, and I have since tried everything I could think of, but to no avail. The **bleep** machine would not enter the OS, but rather keeps rebooting again and again and again. I made a video of the first couple of reboots, and posted it on youtube:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzwGKOAaues Any ideas of what to do? At this point I wouldn't mind formatting everything, since the data stored on it is not crucial anymore. Thanks!!

Got the ideapad yoga 11s for a surprise gift on christmas. And just  found out there is also a version of the ideapad yoga with a stylus/wacom pen. That would have made this apparatus just perfect for me. So my 3 questions quite simply are:  1. Can anyone tell me if this version can be "modified" to work in the same way (e.g. pressure sensitivity) if I can acquire the pen / a pen separately?2. Can a pen indeed be acquired separately?3. And what kind of pens would work? Please help And thank you to anyone who can tell me the answers! Edit: Suppose I need a digitizer. I presume this model does not have it? I don't even know what that is physically - so is it something I CAN accuire for this machine?

Answer:Ideapad yoga 11s WITHOUT a pen - can I get it to work with a pen?

Only digitizer pens and digitizer displays have pressure sensitivity. If you want this, take a look at the ThinkPad Yoga for your next purchase. You need a capacitive stylus pen, like the Wacom Bamboo StylusThis is a relatively good article worth reading: http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/best-digital-pens-writing-apps-and-stylus-tablets/

Is there any possibility to shift from RT to just Windows 8??If not, here are my issues: There are very limited free apps, I can't even run a decent Anti-virus software. It keeps saying cannot run this application; including basic ones like Google Chrome (without purchasing i.e., why can't I simply download from internet).I require softwares of accounting like Tally and it doesn't run. What do I do? :/Also in Local Disc--Users list, the name doesn't change no matter what I try. Please help!

Answer:Ideapad Yoga 11 with Windows RT 8.1

Hi there, Unfortuately there is no way to change from Windows RT to 'full' Windows 8.1. Windows RT devices (such as the Surface, Yoga 11 and some other devices) use an Nvidia processor rather than an Intel or AMD processors. This means that the only apps that can run on Windows RT are the ones from the Windows Store. Software such as iTunes, Google Chrome, Firefox etc. cannot be dowloaded and used on Windows RT as they are not compatible. If you want to run 'traditional' Windows programs you will need a different computer with an Intel or AMD CPU no software other than what you can download from the store can be used on Windows RT.

Hi -- I've a bizarre problem that's suddenly developed on my IdeaPad Yoga 13: _all_ internet connections show as "limited" and won't allow any access to the internet. I'm seeing this with wired ethernet as well as Wi-Fi connection.  Other PCs and devices connect to these connections just fine, but the Yoga won't: I can't get it online at all. This suddenly started a couple of days ago, and I wasn't install any new software at the time. Any ideas?  Alan

That limited thing has started happening to me as of a couple days ago too.  No wifi issues before that.

Hello, if this is the wrong forum, please let me know where to post. I couldn't find anything for an ideapad. Anyway, I have the ideapad yoga 13 and it will only charge up to 12%. I've tried to reseat the battery, recalibrate the battery, reinstalled the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under Device Manager, tried a different power supply, and uninstalled the power management software. It will charge, but only to 12%. The system tray says that it is plugged in and charging, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm not sure if this is a software issue, mobo issue, or batter issue. I'm comfortable reloading Windows 8.1 on it if I have to, but I don't want to waste anymore of my time trying to troubleshoot this thing. Has anyone had this issue or know the fix? Thanks!

Answer:Ideapad Yoga 13 will only charge to 12%

Hi.I don't know if an Ideapad has the same apps preinstalled as a Yoga 2 PRO. But I had almost the same problem, and found out that in the Apps section (the Lenovo section) there is an app called "Energy Manager" and within this there is an option called "Conservation Mode" - the last tab. This was turned on, and after I disabled it, it would charge the battery to 100%.I don't know if this is a solutuion, but it is worth a try :-)Kind regardsFrank

Hello I have been using this yoga13 for the last 2 weeks. I have recently started to have screen freeze. Windows does not respond. the only way out is to press the power button and hold. When i try to restart the device immediately I get a message saying no hard disk found. However if i wait for about 5 mins and power on again the device starts normally with no error messages.  Now since this is a new laptop I know the chance of having a faulty harddisk is really very small.  Has anyone been having the same issue ?Is this the normal behavior of a faulty ssd?

Answer:ssd failure in ideapad yoga 13

Just started having similar problems the last couple of days. Is something perhaps off in the latest Windows 8 update? Have to shut down using power button twice as it would not respond as it should. Would not let me correct a not responding memo on an sd card for instance and then would not restart normally. Hope these things do not become chronic as this is otherwise a good machine.

The only things I didn't like were the Intel HD 4000 and no backlit keyboard but I can live without those. After finding these forums and reading many reviews, I have found that there will be more than just those 2 issues. I have found out about the following problems: -Low storage (can possibly be repartitioned to 11x GB after some work.) (Also has SD card slot for upto 128 GB)-Certain Windows Updates updates breaking startup, shutdown and touchscreen-Irresponsive touchscreen (Can be fixed from forum post)-Weak WI-FI...     I really can't live with this. I need it working everywhere in the house. -Noisy Keyboard-Rotation Lock Button issue-Noisy fan If there are anymore problem/fixes to these problems, list them here please. I was really looking forward to getting a tablet-ultrabook but I don't think I can live with these problems...What do you guys think?

In your UEFI (BIOS), on the Configuration page, what is the state of the Intel Virtual Technology setting?
If Disabled, try setting to Enabled and see if that gets you going with Hyper-V.

Hi, My name is jenny , i am having a major issue with my Lenovo Ideapad yoga 13 and was wondering if anyone could help me diagnose the problem. First the problem started when the laptop refused to turn on.So the lenovo laptop will not power up whatsoever even with a charger plugged in or with the battery removed and the charger plugged in. I replaced the battery and it turned on immidently but the battery slowly died and refused to charge. Now i am back to square one. I replaced the internal power jack where you plug the charger in and it still will not turn on and there is no lights indicating any power at all. Is is possible that a internal power cord can cause a battery to stop charging. Does anyone knwo what this could be? I know the computer motherboard is ok because when i replaced the battery the computer came on right away and the computer was fine but the battery refuses to charge.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 Issue

Hello Jenny, welcome to the forum.

Just a thought, but are you able to try another charger and/or charging cable? The fault may lie with one of these, rather than with the Yoga 13 itself?

Answer:Ideapad Yoga 13 can't see 5Ghz network

Yes I have this issue too. Its because the wireless card in it is only 2.4GHZ (opened the system and took a look at the card). It looks to be proprietary, very very tiny card.  I am not sure if this would work, but I am going to try to buy a pci-e mini wireless lenovo card and it put it in there and re-route the antenna wires. There are two pci-e mini slots, and at least in the 128GB version, only one of those slots is occupied.  Anyone else have other thoughts?

I left my ideapad (which was working fine and charging) plugged in this morning with the screen closed in a hotel with one of those keycards that control the electricity in my room, so that when I left all the electricity turned off. When I returned and turned the electricity back on, my computer gave no signs of charging, and appears to be completely dead. Nothing has happened to it (to the best of my knowledge), it was right where I left it, as I left it, but the thing appears dead. What happened???? Is there a solution???

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11 not turning on?

So I guess the issue here is that the battery is dead and it won't change, but I'm baffled by what could have gone wrong between 9 AM and 3 PM when it was just sitting there

at some point since the machine is now officially available today.

if you have the machine, have you looked at the D: drive? as i understand IdeaPads, that's typically where the preload software installers are located.

Hi,  Bought the Yoga 11s about 5months ago. Running i5 (4th Gen) and the Windows 8.1 update.  Unfortunately, my dear Yoga has become, for all intensive purposes, dead! Put the system on sleep mode, left to grab a coffee and paper, came back and the system was completely unresponsive. The power button is not working (held for more than 10 seconds, no response), the reset button is not working (held for more than 10 seconds, no response), when the system is plugged in, the charge light is not activating, the fan is not activating, etc...As I said, for all intensive purposes, the system is dead.  Completely at a loss for what to do. I really do love this machine and still do think its great; now, just need a way to save it!  Thank you in advance for any insights you may be able to offer.  Thank you.

Answer:IdeaPad Yoga 11s - stuck in downward dog!

Open it up, unplug the battery for 30 min, then press the OKR to turn on your computer (NOT the POWER button), Enter the BIOS, disable secure boot and fast boot..... If all works well, you should boot to windows.... If Windows boot kills your computer again, remove the battery again for 30 min, press the ORK button and hit Recovery.... The recovery option will make you lose all your data.... If you do bring it back to life, uninstall programs like Comodo, Buddy-soft stuff, etc. Some programs are known to brick the yoga.

Hello All. Just bought this guy and have a couple questions. Is there any way to make the button part of the touchpad NOT be part of the pointing? On EVERY other touchpad I've ever used I can rest my left thumb or finger on the button and use my right hand to do the pointing and scrolling on the pad. This on is set up so that two fingers anywhere on the pad conflict with each other. Also, is there any side edge motion that will scroll a given screen up or down like almost all other touchpads? I know that this is a touch screen and all of the above can be done with that but it's slower to take one's hand off the keyboard to point, click or scroll sometimes. I find this to be a big oversight if there is no workaround. ThanksB

Hello all, I have a Yoga 13 Ideapad and recently after waking it up from sleep mode I am unable to use the TouchPad at all.  This issue is not related to the disable TouchPad button on the F6 key.  I've looked at tons of other threads and here's what I've done so far: Updated the BIOSRe-installed the synaptics driversDisabled the ymc service None of these have fixed my problem and this is becoming increasingly frustrating. More info:  If i go to mouse properties, there is no mouse device hardware found. Also, occasionally i get an error message saying that there was no synaptic pointer device found or something like that and the message asks me if i want to uninstall the synaptic drivers. Please help!!!

Answer:TouchPad not working on Yoga 13 Ideapad

Some other additional info: This is the error message i get:  I've also tried starting in safe mode and the TouchPad still doesnt work. I've plugged in an additional mouse via USB and the pointer finally appeared, but I'd prefer to just use the TouchPad. I also still get the above error message when i go to mouse properties even with the USB mouse plugged in.

Hi everybody, I'm looking for a solution to draw/take notes on my lenovo yoga 13. Laptop's screen is capacitive, no digitizer, so I'm wondering what kind of stylus/pen can work with it. I'd like to have a pen with pressure sensitivity, but based on my research I couldn't find one that works for sure.Is there an active pen with bluetooth that can actually write on this screen? Or any active pen for that matter?Otherwise I'm stuck with those lame capacitive pens that are everything but accurate, even the bamboo solo doesn't work with it.Any ideas? Thanks for your help in advance!

Answer:LENOVO IDEAPAD YOGA 11 2696

Good day and welcome to the community.Sorry you're having difficulty.
Since you can't get into Windows to (re)start the recovery/restore process, you might need to do so from the Boot Menu as described on page 23 of the user guide: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_yoga_11_ug_v1.0_may_2012_english.pdf

I've never seen or used a Yoga 11 / Windows RT model, but you could try pressing Fn+F12 when you see the Lenovo boot splash screen to see if you get the Boot Options menu described. I don't know if you'd be given any options to retain any files or settings from this kind of restore/recovery, so please use caution.

Hope this helps you a bit.Regards.

I have the same problem, air bubbles in the LCD screen. I have an IdeaPad Yoga 11 out of warranty. Will Lenovo fix this? It looks like a serious manufacturing defect that ought to be repaired no matter when the limited warranty expired. There's an implied warranty of merchantability on a product for sale that essentially guarantees through implication, that a product will reasonably conform to a buyer's standards and that the product is suitable for sale. A buyer has the reasonable right to expect that the item he is buying will conform to basic expectations. I don't think Lenovo has met this standard. Please repair my LCD screen. Thank you.

Hi, I bought the ideapad Yoga 11s at the end of august this year. I was all working fine until around the end of September when the screen started to intermittently go black and when the screen was pressed it would suddenly start appearing (as if there was a loose wire). To rectify it I needed to hard reboot it, and it seemed to work OK until the next time it happened. Today the screen is completely black, the battery light is showing as charging when I plug the mains adapter in, and when I press the power button, it "looks like" it is turned on but the screen is completely black. Any ideas what I should do about this? And how it can be rectified? I have it setup perfectly so would ideally like a solution/fix for this machine? I do need to use it for work next weekend too so I will need to try and get it back up and running. Can anyone help/advise? Many thanks Sarah

Answer:Ideapad Yoga 11s screen is black

Hopefully someone with more knowledge than I have will provide some better advice for you, but I'll throw out a couple suggestions. A) Hold down the power button until you are sure power is completely off, then restart and see if you get anything.B) Try connecting via HDMI cable to a monitor or tv and see if you get a display. If so, try rebooting, reinstall video drivers, and at the least, do your work stuff like this until you can send your unit in for warranty repair. I haven't found this forum to be teeming with Lenovo technicians, but maybe they will prove me wrong. Best of Luck!

Hi and welcome,

I do not know what's wrong and what should cause it to happen, but there's one thing I'd like you to try. In the system tray, next to the clock in the bottom right hand corner there should be a red 'Harmony' icon. Can you please right click (or tap and hold on the screen) on it and turn it off? It will turn gray. Now, try to use your Yoga in tablet mode and let us know if there's any change/improvement.

I found this happens when the process "FMAPP" running in the background. I read in some sites that this process belongs to "Realtek High Definition Audio Driver", but in my expirence when i kill this procces nothing not changing to audio. 3) The screen too dark and yellowish, any solution to fix it? Specifications:OS: Windows 10CPU: Intel core i5 6200UGPU: Intel HD graphics 520 + NVIDIA 920MMemory: 8GB DDR3

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13, which came with an i5-3337U processor, 4GB RAM and 128SSD. I replaced the ram with http://www.integralmemory.com/sites/default/files/uploads/dpdf/IN3V8GNAJKXLV.pdf as I often found that 4gb wasn't enough. My laptop is now running at about 60 degrees celcius for each core. I don't know what it was before as I hadn't measured it before, but the fans sound louder. Have i installed ram that isn't compatible or something? It runs well and multitasking is now better, it just seems louder and hotter than before. Thanks in advance.

Answer:New RAM issue Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13

Hi, DM  ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

First of all, I recommend you update your motherboard BIOS if an update exists. Sometimes new memory profiles will be included. It's probably a timing issue, not a frequency issue.

To test properly you would have to: 1) Run with slow memory for five minutes in idle. Record highest CPU core temp. 2) Repeat with faster memory. 3) Repeat with slower memory again (because things are heating up).

Update us how it goes.

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11 since a while, but now there's a strange problem with the touchpad. If I just tap it once, it acts like I'm tapping twice. So If I want to move the pointer, it's always selecting, so the touchpad is actually useless. The touch screen still works though.I tried updating the system and renewed the system, but it didn't help. Could this be a hardware problem?

Hello, I've been wanting to do a completely fresh install of my Yoga 13, but I want to make sure I can do it without causing any issues. I am assuming that since the Windows License is stored in the BIOS that I can re-install at anytime and the license will be carried over without issue? If anyone could confirm this that would be very helpful. Also, I was wondering what the best way to backup the factory install software would be. I noticed that the Thinkvantage recovery software will not install on this machine, so I'm pretty much left with a third party option (Which I'm not too keen on) or the built-in recovery system for Windows 8. Does anyone have any experience using that system with this unit? Lastly, since it's a very unique unit, I'm concerned that I retain 100% of the functionality of the unit when the reinstall is complete. Is the driver manifest on the Lenovo support site complete? Will there be any nasty surprises waiting for me when I find out that key function drivers are not available there? I've had some pretty nightmarish reinstalls with other OEMs before and since this is my first personal Lenovo (Been using them at work for years), I just want to make sure everything will work fine and that I can still restore to factory should I wish to sell the unit later on. Thanks for your assistance.

Answer:IdeaPad Yoga 13 Fresh Install

I can confirm that the restore will bring it back to the same state as when it came out the box (with all the drivers installed as shipped) You can also create your own image with the built-in backup so you can get back to a custom config just the way you want it.

I'm trying to run the newest Doom game on a Yoga 13 ideapad and keep getting errors.  I believe the problem is the graphics card.  I tried downloading the latest from Nvidia but when I install it I get an "installer cannot continue" message.  After some googling it seems to me that my computer doesn't allow any other graphics card than the Intell HD that it shipped with, but this card is incompatible with what Doom runs on.  I could be wrong about any of this because I am not at all a techie person and just struggling to figure out what's going on.   Anyway, so lately I've been trying to find some way to get Nvidia to install and run as my graphics card or driver.  I've seen some instructions on how to edit some file manually and it's extremely confusing, and I tried it but I'm pretty sure I didn't do it right, so I'm trying to find some other way to do this.  Is it even possible to run Doom on this computer, or does the graphics card just make it completely impossible?

Answer:Getting Nvidia to work on a Yoga ideapad.

You do not have a Nvidia card, so stop trying to install a Nvidia driver! Your computer does not have a video card.  The graphics (Intel 520 or 540) is integrated on the motherboard.  You will not be able to buy/install a Nvidia card.

I have been considering purchasing a Windows RT device as a replacement for my aging windows 7 laptop. I am especially interested in an RT device because of their portability, simplistic nature, and above all, price. A windows RT device is also optimal for me because I only do a number of things on my laptop, such as browsing, Microsoft Office work, and using a number of light desktop applications that could be easily replaced with applications from the windows 8 store. Therefore, I don't think it makes much sense for me to bother purchasing a high power laptop running the full version of Windows 8. I should also mention that I am a student. I have narrowed hunt down to two Windows RT devices: The Microsoft Surface, and the Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11.
I like the Surface because of its beautiful industrial design, decent display, touch covers, and all the extra touches that Microsoft put into the device to make it special and unique. However, my greatest concern is typing on the touch cover; specifically, I worry that typing on my lap will be a painful process. 95% of my work on my Laptop is done with it in my lap while sitting on the couch, rather then having it rested on a table. Therefore, if the device does not sit well in my lap, it is significantly less valuable to me.
Before you mention the Ideapad Yoga's price, you should know that I have family connections to Lenovo, which allows me to get the Yoga for the same price as the Microsoft Surface. I especially like the Yoga be... Read more

Answer:Surface RT vs. Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11

I would tell you, like all people to jump ship and abandon RT. Why would you want a limited OS when you can get a tablet running an atom for the same price? The Surface is a beautifully built machine and I really like the yoga's hardware design, but 799$ for a windows RT computer is laughable. I bought the HP envy x2 and love it. If you want a premium device with a decent keyboard, nice all-aluminum design and full windows 8, I recommend the HP envy x2. Also the Acer Iconia w510 is a great tablet for 599$ you get 64Gb running windows 8 and ASUS has the vivotab smart for 499$ with 64 Gb and an atom and I think they have the weird keyboard/cover thing that the surface has as well. If you REALLY wanted a surface I would say its not a bad choice but the yoga is. But I'll say it again, why limit yourself with RT when you can buy windows 8. Samsung and Acer are already not doing RT anymore because they said consumers don't see the value in it and its because there is no value in it, not when an atom tablet costs the same amount. That's my 2 cents but I have some programs like putty, matlab, office 2013 academic,
visual studio pro running on my tablet. The thing I will tell and think hard about this, are you sure there aren't ANY x86 programs you might want like turbotax, office pro, firefox, google chrome, vlc, utorrent just to name a few?
