how can I get a version of windows 10 x64 version 1607 for an RCA Tablet 2n1?

Question: how can I get a version of windows 10 x64 version 1607 for an RCA Tablet 2n1?

I have an RCA Cambio 2n1 Tablet running Windows 10 version 1607 (Anniversary Edition). I have a program that I desperately need to run that is only offered for x64 systems. I understand that I have to do fresh install but I cant seem to find one on Microsoft's site. The windows Update Tool doesn't offer the version I need.

Preferred Solution: how can I get a version of windows 10 x64 version 1607 for an RCA Tablet 2n1?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi Welcome to Window Central! I'm sorry, but I have no idea what your trying to accomplish. Research shows me you are already running 64bit. If that is not the case, you would have to update your OS to a 64bit system. That is not a easy task. Here's link to WC "How to"! I have ugraded to version 1607 and I notice the restart time is 2.5 longer than version 1511. The boot time is about the same on both versions. I also did a clean install of version 1607 and the restart time was still about 2.5 times as long as version 1511.
What is going on with version 1607?

Answer:Why does Windows 10 Version 1607 take about 2.5 times as long to restart as Version 1511 does?

What is going on with version 1607? you've checked startup programs? Any that are on by default?

Microsoft still hasn?t released the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Mobile users, but that doesn?t mean they?ve completely forgotten about their smartphone customers. After this update I have a Windows-Old folder, 17.6 gig. Can this folder be deleted? Happy with update and will not go back to 1511.

Answer:Windows 10, version 1607

Its normal behaviour for the installer to leave this folder behind. It allows you to roll back if something went wrong. If you're sure everythings behaving normally then yes you can remove the folder. Use built in disk cleaner, click on c: then click the clean up system files button. Make sure old system install is ticked.

I've been getting a black screen with the moving dot circle every time I start my HP desktop, which moves on to "Restoring to your previous version of Windows (v7). Yesterday, Microsoft Support helped download Windows 10 version 1607 upgrade (from 1511).  Download failed. Now, MS tells me that the HP desktop I have doesn't have the necessary components (drivers?) to install v1607. MS wants me to clean my computer of everything (inlcuding programs) to install v1607. I do have all backed up on external hard drive, but cannot imagine how much time and effort this would take. Note that the MS upgrade is automatic and cannot be cancelled, so it will keep trying to do this download. Is HP going to test my  Pavillion p7-1206 so that it may be used with Windows 10 v 1607?  If not, is there a solution to running the Windows 10 version 1511 succesfully without getting the black screen and "restoring" message? BTW, I have HP support assistant insalled and have plenty of memory.) I love my HP desktop and I also like Windows 10. Help!

Answer:Windows 10 version 1607 Updgrade

@LizL778 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! Your PC came with Win7 and unfortunately, HP does not supply Win10 drivers for it.  Win7 PCs had a generally hard time with the initial Win10 Upgrade, and it looks like each new version, causes more and more of them to fail subsequent version upgrades.  The next Upgrade -- to version 1703 -- is coming out in early April, so if your PC will not Upgrade to 1607, that does not look good for 1703. What MS is saying is only partly true.  While it's true that you don't have Win10 HP drivers, there is really no reason why this should prevent either downloading the Upgrade or running it. So, what are you running now -- Win10 version 1511, or Win7? Also, HOW did you do the Win10 Upgrade download? We can proceed when you provide the information. Thanks

Have Lenovo v570 and 2 nights ago MS pushed update version 1607 for windows 10. PC had basically a black screen with blue Windows logo in center of screen with a small spinning wheel like in lower center. I let the go for several hours and then pushed to old power button. PC restarted and went back to same position. Waited several hours and nothing changed. Rebooted and held Windows key down and was presented with options to continue with Windows 10 or advanced options. Did continue and same result. Next time did advanced options and tried to go back to previous update and it failed saying select Reset PC option under advance options. I did not do this as I am hesitant as I understand it the Reset will remove all my applications but leave my data. I am not sure what that means, Office, TurboTax, etc, etc???
Did some research on line ... and saw something that said after restarting the third time Windows will automatically restore back to prior version. Well that did not happen.
Just wondering if anyone has thought on this and what action should I take. I do have a system restart set but forget when I last did that -- think right after I went to 10 earlier this year. That could be option but not sure what is total ramification if I chose that option.
Thanks in advance.

@HaroldK Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! Unfortunately, the Stream line, with only 32GB of disk storage, can present serious problems with Windows upgrades and updates. Here are a couple of threads with steps you can take to recover some disk space:http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3012-disk-cleanup-open-use-windows-10-a.htmlhttp://winaero.com/blog/how-to-clean-up-winsxs-folder-in-windows-10/ Also, there have been reports that you can use an SD card as supplemental space for Windows Updates. Unfortunately, you can not RUN Windows from an SD card or USB stick unless you have the special Enterprise WinToGo version.Good Luck

I did not know the "Anniversary Update" would install, like, Windows 11. (may well have been)
I first had issues with the update error 'Can't yada, yada due to USB device.
I found a reg fix for that. Loaded the update and it took like forever.
OK, finally finished and last reboot. Up pops Windows 10 version 1607 which just almost destroyed many
of my settings and enhancements I had made to my preferences. Well this sucks.
I played with it for a while and then, totally disgusted, restored an image prior this update.
I installed show/hide updates. I also reinitialized the reg change I made making sure MS won't just sneak it in.
Good luck with that. I'm just venting. I'll be normal again tomorrow.

Answer:Windows 10 update to version 1607

Yep the way W10 updates is pretty frustrating, the best you can do is Defer feature updates, and it will take longer to update.

But the Anniversary is pretty good compared to the Creators update, IMO.

I would not go making a bunch of changes and customizations to W10, because you know it`s gonna update to a new version sooner or later.

Hello All, here is a good one:  (Maby a MOD will give this to development to take a look at this, unless someone hasseen this before????....) I have Several Thinkpad Yogas (20CDCTO1WW), After installing Win10 1607 & Microsoft Office (tried 2010 - 2016)All experience the same problem. If you open MS Word (Or Excel) Click insert, then select object, select object type - Microsoft Equation 3.0 & selectok, you cannot select any symbols.  When Clicking any button, it is like the calibration is way off.If you click the title bar to move the equation symbols, the bar moves down and to the left. I have confirmed this is something to do with the Windows 10 1607 & the Yoga.  The previous version of Win 10 itworked properly.  I also tried this on various models of Desktops  & Win 10 1607 and it works properly. I have tried different drivers, versions of Word, BIOS,  external mouse, but it makes no difference,  It has something to do with Win 10 1607 (Build 14393.222) & Yoga or so it seems. Maybe some type of driver issue?, if anyone has any clues I would appreciate it.           Thanks in advance!

Windows 10 Version 1607 driver signing changes - gHacks Tech News

Microsoft announced recently that the upcoming version 1607 of Windows 10, known as the Anniversary Update, will only load kernel mode drivers that are digitally signed by Microsoft.

The change won't affect all systems however the company notes, as only new installations are affected in the beginning.

Starting with new installations of Windows 10, version 1607, the previously defined driver signing rules will be enforced by the Operating System, and Windows 10, version 1607 will not load any new kernel mode drivers which are not signed by the Dev Portal.

The list of exceptions to the new policy is long. Below is the most important information in regards to the new kernel mode drivers policy:
PCs upgraded to Windows 10 Build 1607 from a previous version of Windows (for instance Windows 10 version 1511) are not affected by the change.
PCs without Secure Boot functionality, or Secure Boot off, are not affected either.
All drivers signed with cross-signing certificates that were issued prior to July 29, 2015 will continue to work.
Boot drivers won't be blocked to prevent systems from failing to boot. They will be removed by the Program Compatibility Assistant however.
The change affects only Windows 10 Version 1607. All previous versions of Windows are not affected.
Microsoft notes that the change is done to make Windows more secure for end-users.

We?re making these changes to help make Windows m... Read more

I have had already working Windows 10 in my laptop, but after upgrading to latest version the USB mouse stopped working. The touchpad works. USB is alive because pendrives and USB external disks work fine, the mouse (tried three different) does not (in none of the ports)
I reinstalled the mouclass.sys and mouhid.sys drivers. Are these correct? There are drivers for PS2 mouse too, but I think they are for touchpad in my case. Anyway, no success.
Rebooted many times.
How ever The Mouse Device status claims: "This device is working properly", which is false!
My desktop has the same version of Windows 10 and no problems at all.

Is anyone else having issues with 1607? Mine is that I lose data within folders on a drive. When I reboot, the drive disappears. I have switched cables and Sata slots and it is still the same. I am running a WD Red NAS 6 TB drive. I have installed it into another Windows 10 PC and there does not seem to be any issues.

I downloaded 1607 ISO from Microsoft and created the bootable USB with Rufus.

I know there has been issues with 1607 and Microsoft are aware of it and have given a KB update which I have but it has made no difference.

Also, how can I download a 1511 ISO please?

Previously, my laptop (ThinkPad X140e) got Win 10 Pro (Ver 1511), upgrading from OEM Win 8 Pro. All was well then. I installed a flavor of Linux after that to see how it goes, and I didn't like it after all. I created a new Win10 Installation media, using Windows Media Creation Tool and a USB memory stick. Little did I know about the new change applied from ver.1607 (Windows 10 editions for education customers), the new installation of Win 10 activated as Windows 10 Pro Education. I suppose my ThinkPad X140e was given Education OEM license for some reason, even though it was bought independently. Win 10 Pro Education seems mostly identical to vanilla Win 10 Pro that I know of. However, I see some '* Some settings are managed by your organization' messages in some of the Settings menus, and I really don't like it. Is there any way for me to get Windows 10 Pro, instead of Windows 10 Pro Education? This Link (Upgrade Windows 10 Pro to Pro Education from Windows Store for Business) has a section about reverting process; I don't think it applies to my case.Any advice?

I had that also with this update.
So here is what I did to get over it.
I restarted it then ran the Disc Clean Up app
Which cleared all traces from the Disc
Then let it download and install, which took some time
Then it installed to 30% then Restarted then finished at 100%
Which again sat there for some time then flashed up it had finished and now running all ok on all my systems
Hope that may hopefully help you with your problem

I own a Z1 Working station G1  WM429EA  SN: [Personal Information Removed]   and following the pressure of Microsoft I installed Windows 10. This was a bad thing to do and after many efforts I managed to get a running machine. Then Microsoft came with the major update 1607 and my machine was not willing to take it. After long efforts with Microsoft support they managed to ruin my running version 1511 and now they say that I need a clean installation of Windows 10. I have checked all info's available and it seems that G1 is not the best machine for Windows 10. Can you help me ?

I know you don't want to lose your important data. I highly recommend putting the hard disk in an enclosure and connecting it to another PC and copying all important data to an external storage device. Since you had Windows 10 installed that means you Windows 10 license activation key is safely stored online at the Microsoft licensing servers. You will need to download the Windows 10 Media creator and use it with a USB flash drive (4 GB minimum storage capacity) to create installation media. Use the following URL to get the Windows ISO installation media creator.https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 Once you have done that, boot to it and install Windows 10. It will be activated once you go online. All required drivers for Windows 10 are at the following HP support web page.http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5230511&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4192 Install the chipset and IMEI drivers first, then install the graphics driver software.

Hi I have a problem with the update Windows 10, version 1607 that cannot be installed, informing HP Client Security needs to be uninstalled... Is there, or will there be, a new version of HP Client Security that will allow this Windows update? Currently using HP Client Security Manager 8.3.18.2044 (and HP Support utility advise there are no updates required for HP software on my notebook). Please advise. RegardsStefan

Hello...I'm currently running  Windows 10 ver. 1511 in an HP Pavilion e9110t with eight gigs of ram, Intel Core 2 Quad 9550 and Nvidia GTX 750Ti video card. Everything runs good and stable and does pretty much what I ask it to do. My problem is that Windows 1607 won't install until I finally reset the computer and the update went without a hitch. After the update I was unable to use my mouse and other USB perifrials. I checked device manager and saw that the USB Host Controller and USB Hub were not installed and flagged. I searched for days trying to find the proper chipset for my product and found that Intel no longer supports the G43 express chipset and nor does Windows v,1607. So I'm stuck with windows in a loop trying to install and failing to do so. Unfortunately it appears that I will have to stick with v.1511 unless a fix is available. Your thoughts?

This update downloads and apparently installed yesterday but this morning started to download again. Then claimed there was not enough memory and I needed to insert memory stick or sd card. I have tried both but neither are recognised once the installation has gone ahead and the laptop restarts. Any help would be very welcome.
Thanks.

Hey, ???

I'm just getting a Windows update now (ca. 10:13 AM Brisbane Australia) - my laptop screen suddenly went black and when things reappeared, previously-open windows were misaligned and differently sized.

The Windows Settings box which had been showing downloads (I had hit "search for updates") was blank. I rebooted it and it shows "Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607" downloading. I'd researched 1607 and had understood it amounted only to a download in megabytes if you already had 1511 (which I do).

I'm on metred connection - is this going to happen all the time??

Don't know you're whole situation, but that wording and the size of ~3GB sounds an awful lot like the Anniversary Update download.

This is a brand new machine -- had it maybe 2 weeks.  Bought this configuration for games such as Rome Total War, Skyrim, etc. After the Microsoft -- Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3199986) on 11/08, the R7M440Graphics with 4 GB has stopped being recognized. The system now only uses the integrated R5 graphics which has limited memory.  Some games warned me and allow me to use main memory, others just lock up. The Radeon software shows it "Linked" to the R5 but it is not being used.Is there anyway to make the R7M440 the primary graphics?

Hello Everyone-

The place that I work with is tasked with creating a customized tablet to have in our showrooms. We were planning to use the Surface Pro 4 with Windows 10 version 1607. We were successful locking down with what we wanted on the machine through Group Policy on a Windows 10 1511 test machine. We exported the 1511's .xml and tried to import onto a test machine with the 1607 build and just did not work.

The desktop/display screen was missing two customized videos we created as Internet Shortcuts, but more importantly after the export the 1607 was not locked down as much at the 1511 test machine. What I mean is in 1511 a customer would not have been able to access via a right click on the start menu the Control panel, Command Box, etc. Plus in the 1607 they were able to run searches by clicking on the magnifying glass in the task bar to pretty much access anything on the device.

Our goal for the 1607 device is for it to have Automatic Sign on through Group Policy with the each machine in one OU in AD and having one user name for that OU as well. So after the Automatic Sign on the employee could show a costumer tiles that have been customized with out Content but a child or anyone else could not access games, internet, or delete our tiles.

We just don't understand why it worked on the test machine with Windows 10 1511 but back fired on the 1607 test machine. We have tried to Use AppLocker but that has caused some wrenches on our test machines as well ... Read more

My computer keeps telling me I have an update which requires a restart. It is listed as ? Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607. (Is this what they are calling the "anniversary update"?) I don't know which build/version I currently have. The problem is, I have tried to let it update quite a few times, but it fails due to one or more components not able to be configured. This has been going on for many months now. Currently I have the "delay updates" checked so I do not have to let it try again. I keep hoping Microsoft would eventually have a fix for this, but so far I don't see one.

Any idea what I can to get the feature update to install?

Answer:• Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607. Problems

to find out the version that you currently have:

-right click on the start button
-go to "Run"
-type "winver" (no quotemarks) and hit [enter]
If I could provide any advice before installing a feature update;
it would be to update your drivers (special attention on Graphics and Chipset drivers)

Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3194496)

Three days ago my desktop tried to update 1607 3 times. Each time on reboot it says failed to update and reverts. Each day it tries again at shutdown.

Yesterday my second(son's) computer updated and all I could see was a black screen with a circle. Had to do a repair and it reverted back 2 two updates. Note, this computer does not have integrated graphics - so that fix process would not work.

Now the wife's computer wants to update but I am not restarting it - if hers goes down it will be hell in my household.

I looked on the web and don't see much about this update getting fixed by Microsoft. Any ideas what I should do? My main computer is asking to try again and it will just fail or worse - black screen. I told the family not to shutdown the wife's but I know at some point it will try to do the update on its own.

This is the worst mess we have ever had, but all I see are web pages about the anniversary update - not this one.

After applying this update I found a number of problems.
The most disturbing was that all restore points had been deleted and that system protection had been turned off.
I also found that Microsoft Games for Windows 8 v1.2 no longer worked, not even after a reinstall.
I was extremely pissed off, but luckily I had taken a backup so I immediately restored my system.
Unfortunately I didn't check what else might have been affected.

Anyone else experienced problems?

Answer:Problems after Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607

The Features update to Windows 10, version 1607 is not like the cumulative updates. It doesn't patch the system, it is a full install of the revised OS. As such, you previous system has been archive in the windows.old folder should you wish to go back to the earlier build (this option is available for 10 days). This is exactly the same process as upgrading from Win7/8 to 10.

Your previous restore points were for the previous version of windows so do not apply to this new OS. In fact, they would probably break your system if there was any way to restore them!. They have been archived along with the old system and would be returned along with it if you had rolled back to the previous build. Some have reported that system protection was turned off after the upgrade to 1607, but this is easily turned back on again.

The Microsoft Games for Windows 8 were removed because (as with an upgrade from 8 to 10) they are deprecated features of Windows 8. Setup deletes all such deprecated features that it finds as part of the install of the new OS. You can't reinstall them because the hacks used by the 3rd-party sources to repackage these games and fool Windows 10 into installing them don't work in 1607. Apparently updated 'hacks' have been made, you'll need to download a new version. Be careful where you download them from, you may get more than you bargained for (malware may be an unwanted 'extra').

Hello JRAllen72653 Welcome to the Ten Forums!

One advice I can provide here would be to try a different method for either update by upgrade or planned clean install which doesn't seem to be what you have been looking for. When the Redstone 1 update didn't even arrive here for 3 separate desktops as well as a recently new laptop where 10 came already on not seeing the update still lead to fail of the MC Tool to see the immediate online upgrade take place or create the usb media needed.

Twin solutions were then sought! The first in order to see all machines updated was to download the "windows.iso" by way of the MC Tool which equals both the 32bit and 64bit flavors for both the Home and Pro editions. We call that a "4 in 1" type of download that covers everyone.

The second item on the agenda did opt to use a 3rd party program not the Windows option to mount the iso downloaded onto each machine or run from a flash drive where the setup.exe main executable would be manually started to watch each upgrade install take place. Once all systems were set which included one desktop only lately being upgraded from 7 Home Premium to 10 Home and then still waiting for the update to go on before return to owner was to visit a MS download iso type page to grab both the 32bit and 64bit smaller Dual Edition iso downloads to keep onhand.

Hello everyone

I just woke up to a Windows 10, version 1607 update and a lot of my stuff has been changed. For instance I had the arrows removed from the shortcuts on my desktop icons, but now they are back. I had used this method:

Shortcut Arrow Icon - Change, Remove, or Restore in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

I also had my window accent borders changed to solid black, but now it's back to some default gray. Moreover when I clicked the start menu my account info (like my account's pic) as at the top, now it's on the side.

And lastly when I right click my taskbar I no longer have "Properties" to change features there...
That's what I noticed in just 5 mins. My update history simply says

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607
Successfully Installed on 9/24/2016
Anyone else getting stuff like this?

Hi, well my issue is that this update downloaded, but an error occurred and couldn't be installed. I didn't know what to do so I restarted my laptop and now its downloaded again. Should I just install it again or is there anything to do to make it sure it installs correctly? The update is listed as: Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3201845).
I'd appreciate any help at all. Thanks.

I have Windows 10 Home 64-bit installed on a PC and have realised that it's been failing to install the anniversary update 1607 for a few months (I'm always seeing the 'Update and Shut Down' option but then getting a notification after start-up which says 'Updates failed to install').

In the Windows Update settings I can see the following message "Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607 - Error 0x80240fff". Some other updates for Windows 10 1511 have successfully installed through Windows Update last month.

I've created a USB stick using the Windows Media Creation Tool. I first tried running setup.exe from the USB - it seemed to be working until the upgrade just stopped, went back to my desktop and gave me a dialog which said 'Windows 10 installation has failed'. I also tried booting from the USB and upgrading that way but it suggested that if I wanted to keep my documents and programs I'd need to do it from within Windows rather than booting separately.

This is now driving me a little crazy! Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this? I'd like to keep my documents, programs and settings if possible.

Hello,
I suggest you start with a couple of basic checks:
- your file system
From an admin command prompt
[Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin)]
chkdsk C: /F

Morning.
This is the first time I am trying to use the Calendar since I bought this laptop 6 months ago.
I never logged on to the MS store.
The Calendar app came pre-loaded on my pc when I purchased it from Best Buy.

Windows 10 home premium.
Version 1607 (after the latest updates from MS.)
I log on with a local account.

I "left click" on "time of day" in the lower right corner of my screen and I get a pop up calendar.
(So, I'm thinking, "this is good.")
But when I click on the "+" symbol to add an event, the Calendar app tries to start, but then simply disappears.

The same thing happens if I click on the "Start" button and then scroll to "Calendar" and click on it.
It tries to start (A blue Calendar screen appears for a moment) but then disappears.

Hmmmm.

I did an Internet search and a bunch of folks describe what sounds like a similar issue.
The good folks seem to recommend different fixes.
And some folks say they have not been able to fix the issue.

Couple of questions, if I might ..............
Do I need to be signed into Windows 10 with a MS account in order to run Calendar ?
(I'll bet the answer is no. But I "have" read a couple of "How to use the Calendar app" documents where it says you DO need to use an MS account.)

Has anyone experienced the above issue ?
And if so, has anyone managed to fix it ?
Or does anyone have some advice ?

HelloI'm having a problem with Windows 10 pro installing Window updates. Every-time I try to update from Windows 10, 1511 build (OS10586.839), to the latest build, I get this error message "Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607 - Error 0x800700c1".  This happens when it's at around 33% windows install and it just kicks me back to the desktop with a message telling me that it's failed to install. I really don't want to go through a whole windows reinstall and was hoping someone here could suggest something that might be wrong. Thanks!

No quick answer.  Have yu already looked over this:https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-info.aspxThat will lead to:https://technet.microsoft.com/itpro/windows/manage/waas-quick-startThat link  has important information about how and when to update a Windows 10 version you are using. As mentioned in the article, extensive documentation about how it works gets to be just too much. One needs to select just which updates are needed. Here is what I understand. If you want everything, you need to have the last release of Windows 10. Look at the video, if you have not already.

But it works fine on selecting basic mood BIOS. But i think for a laptop user advance touch-pad option is so important. I cant figure out for what change this happened ?? How can   solve it please ??

Windows 10 Version 1607 driver signing changes - gHacks Tech News

(hit link ^^ for entire story, snippet below):

The change affects only Windows 10 Version... Read more

Answer:Windows 10 Version 1607 (Anniversary Update) driver signing changes

This is kind of old news in that this change was announced last year but got delayed. I'm not sure what the practical implications are in that anyone loading unsigned drivers probably doesn't have Secure boot on. This one is a non-issue.

Answer:Can't seem to start Windows 10 calendar. (Home edition version 1607)

Hi, I've just tried this with a local user which I created for this.

Initially Calendar prompts for an account, so I filled in details of one of my email accounts.
I launched Calendar, and could add an event.

So, in my experience, no, you don't to be signed into Windows 10 with a MS account in order to run Calendar.

I could suggest you try re-registering it (see the Tutorial section for example), but as I avoid the universal apps I can't offer a specific idea at this point. I do use a calendar, but it's a 3rd party freeware program.

Hi -I know the T520 is old, but mine is in excellent shape (new keyboard, new hard drive) and I want to keep it a little while longer. Windows 10 is trying to install version 1607, and it fails every time. Microsoft support says I need to deactive Secure Boot in the BIOS, but the T520 does not seem to have that option. My BIOS version is 8AET46WW (1.26) and I would like to know if it is possible to update this BIOS any more. I don't see any information or downloads anywhere that indicate that it is possible. None of the Lenovo tools seem to work, and the System Update tool only proposes to update my SD card reader driver! Thanks a million for any advice you may have.

Hi,

Occasionally I find that Windows 10 becomes unusually laggy and unresponsive. In particular, I find that when I hover my mouse over the icons in the Taskbar, the icons are not highlighted quickly or at all. In Windows Explorer, a similar thing happens when I hover the mouse over files. Tool-tips are very slow to pop up, and when they do they tend to appear incomplete. Mouse clicks are not received immediately, and everything is just slow to respond.

I find that can avoid the problem by restarting. The problem appears in about 1 in 4 or 5 work sessions. It's not hugely annoying but it concerns me.

My current version of Windows 10 is version 1607 (KB3194496). I don't have a previous version or update that I can roll back to. Any help with this problem would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer:Lagging Taskbar, Windows Explorer, and Tool Tips (version 1607)

How to deal with lag? Reinstall windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
- recommends clean install

Hi, hard to know what to suggest. I'm replying 'cos no-one has so far.

You can try elimination
- safe mode
- clean boot
- disable shell extensions (e.g. using shellmenuview)

You can try an in-place upgrade repair install

You could try technical analysis trying to see what processes are doing when the system is misbehaving
(Procmon, Latency Mon e.g. - even the task manager).

And naturally try searching the forum for reports of lag and slow response (there are plenty)

I am having a problem connecting to the internet. A few days ago both Ethernet and Wi-Fi was working, now when I try to connect to a network for wifi it shows that its connected however it says "No Internet, Secured" when I connect it to Ethernet (which was more reliable since wifi would flicker on occasion anyways) it says "Ethernet: No Internet"

I went through the troubleshooter and it says there may be a problem with the adapters, I decided that I would start by rolling back the wifi adapter since it was the only thing I could roll back, it failed, I decided that I would uninstall all drivers related to networking, no dice. On top of those I almost everything to try and reset network settings when it came to both adapters however, those failed. Finally I decided that I would completely reset the computer but every time I tried it simply said the computer could not be reset and no changes were made.

The problem that was given to me by the report is that there is a problem with both adapters
(Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter)

Also note: I do not think it is a hardware problem, upon the rise of this problem since I was able to use Ethernet once, after the initial problem, however that is not possible anymore I honestly think it is the new windows update however I cant roll back because this problem came 10 days after the initial upgrade

Hi GygaBie. Welcome to the TenForums @GygaBie.

First I would power cycle your router.

Then shutdown Windows by holding shift key down and clicking shutdown. Then I would disconnect plug from wall, remove battery, hold power on switch down for 30 seconds. Wait a couple of minutes, reassemble and test.

If that doesn't solve get the Network drivers from Asus (your laptop vendor) and install. Before installing ensure you record currently installed versions number, then confirm after installation.

Hello. . .
I use the fingerprint reader to login to my Latitude E5550 every time.  However, I was unable to do so after the latest Windows 10 update (version 1607).

It did still show in the Windows Device Manager (i.e., no "Unknown Device" listed)
I went into the DDP Console to try to register a new fingerprint (for troubleshooting), but it wasn't reading the swipes
I attempted to update to the latest firmware/drivers, but that only caused unknown devices to show up in the Device Manager (ControlVault Firmware v3.3.15.0 and ControlVault Drivers v3.3.14.68)
Switched back to the older driver (v3.0.48.26) and all devices were once again recognized

Any suggestions for how to get around this?  It's not the end of the world, but I *really* like using the fingerprint reader (I paid extra for) to login.  If I can provide additional helpful information, please let me know.
Thanks!

I selected a drive with 120GB of storage available, so it should have enough space for download, but it doesn't work. I also have Metered Connection enabled because I have metered connection and I don't want to download updates. Is there a way of downloading apps from Windows Store with metered connection?
