dell inspiron 15z 5523 - pantalla negra, 3 beeps, Windows 10, windows 10 actualización. DELL es una estafa

Question: dell inspiron 15z 5523 - pantalla negra, 3 beeps, Windows 10, windows 10 actualización. DELL es una estafa

Hola!
Saludos

Hello!

I see that many have the same problem, since installing windows 10 my inspiron 15z 5523 died,

Two options or you hear the 3 beeps so dreaded, or directly the screen goes black.

When I took it to the service they told me that it was mother's problem, but they could not import it to Argentina so I consulted another service ... there they told me that I should have a short, so they took the mother to solder and they gave it back to me Without doing anything to him because they did not find him any problem.

Investigating I found that I could disarm it and removing the current from the capacitors could cause it to revive,

I did the following steps

1 remove the CMOS battery (for that you have to remove the keyboard and the top cover of the notebook)

2 I turned off the battery with the switch it brings in the mother

3 Press the power button to drain the capacitors of the mother

4 I left the compu in that state for a while (10 to 15 minutes)

5 Replacing the CMOS battery and activating the laptop battery

6 I closed and put everything back in its place.

7 squeezed power and ripped up perfect as if nothing. (In the boot process recovered an earlier version of windows)

I used the machine without turning off for a few days and worked flawlessly, without throwing any kind of mistake or anything,

The other day you see that you updated windows and again the same problem,

What is the solution that they pose ... I saw that many people are the same ... I need the computer to work can not live disarming it every time I have to restart it.

For now I asked for a lenovo backup and, luckily, it works perfectly. The subject is that I have to return it and I do not have to work. I feel deeply defrauded and deluded by dell, both in their telephone service, and by their on-site service.

Nobody gives you an answer, nobody helps you, I had more than two months the notebook in the official service of Argentina and were not able to do anything, they are a papelon.

Please if someone knows how I can solve it, I appreciate the help

regards

So my laptop has had this weird thing where i have to try powering on multiple times to get it to boot. So upon booting i hit f12 and ran diagnostic it said nothing was wrong and i then restarted it no problem. Shut it down and the next time i went to boot it just give 3 beeps. I think im going to be needing a new motherboard and i had a few questions. When dell installs new motherboards is the windows activation code the same because i had my free windows 10 upgrade and no that this info is on the mobo and dont want to lose that and have to buy a retail copy. I recently did a fresh win8 install with the dell recovery usb and then upgraded to windows 10 again with no activation issues and was wondering if it would be the same with a new motherboard?
My other question is whether dell links your service tag to your windows activation because i can get the motherboard and due it myself cheaper and use the asset tool to put my express service code and service tag myself.

My computer was beeping on start up and would start beeping randomly while the computer was on. Sometimes it would beep non-stop and I would have to disable the internal speaker. I updated the bios and that fixed the problem, but my webcam driver and internal mic driver isn't working anymore. I've been looking around and I can't find anything. So, I came here in hope that someone can help.

I'll provide any additional information if needed.

Answer:Webcam drivers for Dell Inspiron 15z 5523?

Hi Legended,

Do you have any yellow exclamation marks in device manager?:

If so, you could try installing the updated audio driver (from Dell) for the mic problem; however, I don't see any specific download for the webcam, so you can either search Winodw Update for an optional driver download or try installing a simple 3rd-part webcam utility and that might fix your issue with the webcam.

Also, even if you don't have any exclamation marks in device manager, I would still consider the above recommendations as well. However, there may be a few better options forthcoming from other forum members but this (at least) this can give you a place to start. Good luck.

Hi, I've been experiencing the same problem for quite some time.
I can recommend reading this: en.community.dell.com/.../19615708
As Rebird19 suggested, it might have something to do with palm sweat. Cleaning the touchpad actually did the trick for me.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15z 5523 Laptop shuts off randomly after 20 - 30 minutes.  I have run system diagnostics, reloaded the OS, and cleaned the cpu fan and board.   The only error present is the showing that the main battery which is internal is no longer good.  Anyone have any ideas?

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15z 5523 Laptop shuts off after 20 - 30 minutes.

Hi bassundergrace,Can you Private Message me your Service Tag on the system? Also, when it turns off like this is the system plugged in (with the AC adapter for power) or just running on battery? If the system is only turning off on battery then the battery will most likely need to be replaced at this point. However, if the system is turning off after 20-30 minutes use and it is plugged in (it could be the adapter/system board is going bad etc), but before jumping to that conclusion is the system being used on a flat service? The reason I ask is because the system could be turning off due to it getting too hot (due to ventilation). Before the system turns off does it sound like the fan is running at a high speed?Best regards,Brad

Hello, I have in my service a Dell Inspiron 5523, Service Tag 358YKW1. The laptop worked with 2 x 4 gb ddr3 12800 low voltage memory modules which is supposed to work with. Suddenly stopped working with any other memory modules than one 2 gb ddr PC8500 1,5v. Is working without problems only with this memory module, like is in love with it . I tried everything 1gb, 2gb, 4gb ddr 3 different frequencies and brands, low voltage and normal. I think is a chip problem, but I wanted to eliminate the bios problem. So I downloaded a bios update from Dell website but when I try to update the laptop hangs does'n matter if I try to update from DOS or any Windows (7,8,10). I located the flash chip on the motherboard and I could try making a reflash on that chip externally but the Dell download section offers only an *.exe file, no bin file. Long story short, do any of you guys had similar problem ? Or do you know how to get a bios file? not exe, but  *.bin, or whatever this ami bios had ? Thank you.

Hi all,
I'm really struggling to install WIndows 7 on a Dell 5523.  I've got the majority of the drivers etc. installed but am struggling to get the WIFI up and running despite installing the Qualcomm Atheros drivers successfully.   The minicard drivers don't seem to install, nor do the Nvidia drivers and I'm not sure why.
I've installed the various intel chipsets (I've reinstalled to make sure I got them in the correct order), but device manager still shows that there is an unrecognised network controller:
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0034&SUBSYS_E052105B&REV_01
I've tried various bits of advice online, including similar issues identified on this forum, but just can't seem to get it to work.   Any idea where I might be going wrong?
Thanks in Advance!

Hi,
SEQUENCE of BEEP is first 6 and then 5.
As i mention in the subject my Dell Inspiron 1564 is not turning on.When i push the power button, it makes beep sound and no display means dark screen. First it makes 6 BEEPS and after 2-3 seconds it make another 5 BEEPS sound and their is nothing display on screen.
I tried various methods to turn the display on but no one results.i did the following steps to check or to make it turn on. Here i mentioned all:

Firstly i  disconnect all the PERIPHERALS and take off the battery and then press and hold the power button for few seconds....
Then i run the LCD test to make sure that the LCD is working fine...Yeah it's working fine because i saw the color bars.
Then run the DIAGNOSTICS to check the other hardware but everything is working fine

I tried these different ways but nothing happens.Still my INSPIRON 1564 is off and making annoying beep sounds .Please HELP ME!!!

Answer:Dell Inspiron 1564 Not Turning ON. Make 6 BEEPS first and then followed by 5 BEEPS. Please HELP!!!

Hello Gitesh23,
6 beeps on an Inspiron 1564 indicate video card failure. However, 5 beeps on the system indicate CMOS battery failure. Hence in order to isolate the cause of failure, I would request you to try connecting an external monitor to the computer and check if that works.
You may also try re-seating the CMOS battery and check if the issue persists. Before performing the steps, read and follow the safety instructions in Dell Knowledge Base Article: "Precautionary Measures for Personal Safety". Remove all power sources including AC Adapter and Battery before you remove or re-install an item in your computer. Please see the service manual for instructions on how to re-seat the CMOS Battery: http://bit.ly/14fkggq
Please try the steps and write back with your findings.

Hey guys

Trying to fix an issue with the mrs' Dell notebook; which is an Inspiron 15z 5523.
1st thing - it's out of warranty, so need to try a self-fix if possible, if not, I'm sensing it may be time for a new laptop for her so any tips on data recovery will be appreciated down the line.
Also worth mentioning that this has come about a couple of days after installing Windows 10 - unsure if that's related, but worth a mention.
The issue is that no matter what, we're faced with a blank black screen, with no backlights or LED anywhere. It's now started beeping 3 times in succession which as far as I can tell from the troubleshooting (here) is a system board failure.
For now though, I've done the following:

Allowed the battery to drain and try running on AC power
Reset the motherboard (using the paperclip/reset button method)
Troubleshooted using the above link
Confirmed that it is out of warranty

The main priorities are trying to get this working again and if not, getting the data from the laptop to allow us to get it onto a new one if necessary.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jesse

Answer:Inspiron 15z 5523 Notebook - 3 beeps, black screen

Yahooo!! Sorted!!!

Thanks guys for all your help! It's really appreciated!

A few things that I noticed. In terms of getting it restarted when the three beeps were happening:
1. There were no clear "this will always work" instructions. Doing the right thing will work sometimes and not others.
2. The most consistent method I had which resulted in not just clearing the beeps, but a successful boot was as follows:
a. Remove CMOS battery.
b. Either Remove main battery, or move the little switch under the keyboard (to the left) into the off position. This just disconnects the battery.
c. Press and hold the power button to drain the capacitors (Now that the cover is off, this is just a tiny silver button...so you'll need a screwdriver or something to easily press it....preferable an electrical screwdriver!)
d. Leave the computer in this state for some time. At least 10 minutes, but if you're having difficult, do it overnight. I've no idea why this delay should be necessary, especially after draining the capacitors, but it seemed to help make it more consistent.
e. Put the CMOS battery back in, and either put the main battery back in or slide the little switch under the keyboard back to on.
f. Again wait 10-15 minutes. I've no idea why this seemed to help, but it did. Perhaps the CMOS battery does something after being reinserted.
g. Do NOT connect any USB drive. Inserting a USB drive triggers a startup in this case. Instead you should just c... Read more

Hey Guys,
Recently a week ago, I watched a movie and put my dell ultrabook to sleep, the next day, when i started it up, The laptop started giving out three beeps, Then i took it to my local service center who said that the motherboard was faulty, I didn't seem to believe them, so i disassembled the laptop and replaced the cmos battery, after an overnight capacitor drain.

The laptop finally started, and i was met with the dell logo, I tried tapping F2/F12 to no avail, then a black screen appeared mentioning "PXE-ROM : Exiting PXE ROM", This screen comes very rarely, Only after 12 hours of cmos drain. I can't seem to access windows, My hard drive is well working.Any help would be appreciated

We just recently purchased a new computer but am struggling to get our printer installed.  My printer works on my desktop ( I work from home so yes I have a desktop).  The printer also works with our other laptop via USB. Something happened sometime back that disrupted our Wi-Fi connection so I just never got it back up and running.   Anyway, we have this brand new laptop. I have been on the Support website and downloaded the drivers. save the files to the computer , unzipped them and executed the setup. The printer shows on my computer but it still says the drivers are missing.  It doesn't work hooking it up to the USB port etc....

I am ready to send my new computer back...so frustrated.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have just bought a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 15.6" Laptop
...and I want to use my Dell u2412M monitor, to extend the screens for my workspace ( or simply use the bigger monitor screen).
To achieve this I am using an HDMI cable with an HDMI to DVI adaptor to plug the cable into the Dell monitor.
I've tested the cable on my old Sony laptop using HDMI to DVI and it recognises the monitor and works (my other laptop was running Windows 7).
However the new laptop won't recognise or see the monitor at all when I plug in the HDMI cable?
I have checked under "manage my devices" and the graphics card driver seems up to date on the laptop.
Is there something I need to download to make the monitor work please as I assumed it would plug and play.
Many thanks!!!

Hello,
I have recently upgraded to windows 10 and everything seems file except one problem I am facing which is the wifi card connectivity issues. My connection to router drops very frequently, curently the generic driver which windows think is appropriate is installed. I wanted to undate that with Dell's driver which I can't find on driver download section. 64 bit WiFi driver is NOT there. 32 Bit driver is but that won't install on my machine.
Can someone from Dell help? either to give me the link for correct driver download or confirm driver is not available in which case I would need to downgrade to windwos 8 as the system is unusable in its current state.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15R 7520 SE - Windows 10 64 Bit WiFi Driver not available on Dell Site

Hello,
On the Drivers & Download pages for the Inspiron 15R 7520 there are only 64-bit options for Windows, whether 8.0,8.1, or 10.   So those drivers are the ones for the 64-bit version of Windows 10, as long as you filter the operating system option to Windows 10 64-bit.
The file name may state "Win32" but if you click on the "View Details" link, and then check "Supported Operating Systems" near the bottom of the page you'll find that the driver supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
You don't mention which wireless card you have in that system so I can't link directly to the specific driver.  Which card do you have and what error are you getting when trying to install the drvier?
I would also recommend updating the firmware on your router.  Many routers need an update to be able to handle Windows 10 specific drivers and cards reliably.   What router brand and model are you connecting to?  And do you have problems with all routers or just this one.
Lastly, here is a link to the Dell Networking & Wireless Support Center.  You will find a few support articles in there that may be of help to you.
Let me know which card you have and when the last time you updated your router and, if you can't get the connection to work, I'll see what else I can suggest to help you.

This laptop had some user profile problems. Now sorted, but no wireless icon and no connection. I have uninstalled the WLAN driver, then downloaded the latest one from Dell. In DevMan, WLAN adaptor shows as working normally. In Network and Sharing Centre, Wireless Network Connection shows as Disabled. I right click and choose Enable - a panel pops up, says enabling then Enabled, but Wireless Network Connection still shows Disabled. Off out for a couple of hours - any thoughts welcome (I'm sure I've had this snag before, but memory isn't what it was!).

Hi, I can't seem to get anything higher than 1920x1080 in the list of available resolution options when I connect my Dell U2713HM monitor to my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop. I've run this monitor at 2560x1440 on another laptop over HDMI in the past but that was with Windows 8. The Intel HD Graphics 530 Control Panel doesn't offer any resolutions above 1920x1080 for the external monitor and adding custom resolutions results in the error "the custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity". I'm using the same high speed HDMI cable that worked at 2560x1440 with this monitor on my previous laptop. I'm fully up to date on all of the drivers for the laptop.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not sure what else to try. Could this be a Windows 10 issue? Should I try the standard Intel HD Graphics 530 drivers from the Intel website?

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15 7559 connected to Dell U2713HM monitor over HDMI can't do 2560x1440 resolution in Windows 10

Hi JonoBloo,
The hardware on the system supports the 2560x1440. It should be a software issue. I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the video card driver from Dell website as these drivers are tested on the Dell system. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the video card.

Press the Windows key and Start typing devmgmt.msc and then press enter.
Select the Display adapters listed and right click on it.
Now select properties.
In the properties window, under Driver tab, click on Uninstall button.
Check “Delete the driver software for this device.”
You want to delete the driver click OK.

After the uninstall finishes restart the system. Then reinstall the Intel video card driver for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the video card drivers from Video section onto the system and install it.

Hello,

I have a problem with my new laptop and it happens only sometimes. It is around 1 month old and it had this problem from the beginning . The laptop is a DELL INSPIRON 3552
1. DELL LOGO appears
2. Screen backlight is ok
3. Windows won't start ( window's logo doesn't appear ) and if i plug an external mouse the cursor is on the black screen.
If I shut down the laptop from the power button and the start it again it works. It's very random. Once I had to restart the laptop for 3 times before the windows started.
Any ideas ?

Answer:DELL Inspiron Windows screen black after DELL logo

Hi,
Thank you for writing to us!
As we understand that the system doesnt not boot and just goes up to the Dell logo and after multiple restarts the system works fine.
In that case ,Can you boot the system into " Safe mode " and check if the same happens..You can also perform a system restore and also check for updates pending .
Thanks

I am constantly having this problem with my laptop. As I plug in and unplug my headphones throughout the day, I've noticed that after a couple times the bass gets really quiet and almost completely drops out. Since I have some pretty decent audiophile headphones with really great bass, it is super annoying and noticeable.
One workaround I have discovered is to go to the audio settings (either in Windows or the Dell Audio app), and switch the Default Format (the thing with 24-bit, 48000Hz in it)  to something else, play some audio, then switch it back.
A little word on my setup: I have the latest drivers from the Dell download page installed. I am running Windows 10 64-bit with all the updates. I have Waves Maxx audio "enhancements" disabled. My Default Format is usually set to 24-bit 48000Hz, but the problem eventually happens no matter what I set it to. The "headphone size" option is set to "Medium", but as far as I can tell this option does nothing if I do not have Waves Maxx enabled. Switching it also does not fix the problem.
If I play audio using WASAPI (this basically means that the music player takes over the sound card completely, and bypasses whatever audio processing Windows and the driver has) the problem does not happen.
How do I fix this problem? It's incredibly annoying, and most likely has something to do with the audio driver, since this does not happen in Linux, and it did not happen when I was runn... Read more

Hello.
So yesterday, I was using my 3135 inspiron, it was running all fine with Steam and Google Chrome both open. I was checking on my phone, and my notebook shut down of a sudden, a force shutdown. I turn it back on, it starts giving me the 7 beep code, I looked it up and it was a CPU Cache test failure. Is there any way I can fix this?

My laptop does not start up, showing up a black screen with 4 beeps, and as this means a memory issue I tries a few steps
- Tries removing both the Rams ( 2 x 4GB) Then 2 beeps turn up.  This generally does mean Motherboard is good.
- Tried interchanging the rams,  this time I don't hear any beeps, but still the same issue blank screen.
- Tried with one ram at a time (both slots and both rams) vice versa. Same 4 beeps.
- Tried with a new single 8gb ram(both slots) ,  still in vain (4 beeps)
Please suggest me, what should be done and what is the problem with. Much needed help.
Thanks.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 5537 4 beeps

You've pretty much isolated it to a bad mainboard - replace the mainboard.

The Inspiron Duo beeps 4 times then pauses and beeps another 4 times, when you turn it on. Also,  there is just a blank screen nothing pops on. Does anyone know what's wrong and how to fix it?

Answer:Dell Inspiron Duo 1090 beeps 4 - how to fix?

It's a memory error - could be the memory module or the  socket.
Unplug the system, remove the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec. Remove and reinstall the memory module (service manual link below).  That may fix the problem.
If it doesn't, since there's only one module, you'll need to replace it with a new one.  If that doesn't solve the problem, it's the memory socket that's bad - in that case you're probably better off replacing the system, as this is a relatively old model and the mainboard isn't going to be inexpensive to replace.

Hi,
I have an issue with my laptop.. it beeps 5 time(loud) when I turn it on then when it loads the Windows it goes really quiet but still beeping.
I know that 5 beeps usually means changing the CMOS battery.. I did that but still beeping.
P.s i ran the diags, everything work fine with not a single error.. the windows boots properly (I can even keep working on it) and I have no problem regarding the drivers or other components..

Answer:5 beeps on a Dell Inspiron 5110

It could be a failure of the battery slot on the motherboard. Try a diff new cmos battery and make sure it is seated properly.

Hello.
I see I am not alone with computer recently being out of warranty and now no longer works - getting the 7 beeps.  I see that there are many posts on this site as well as others with folks having the same problem, yet I have not found any information on a recall notice from Dell.  It doesn't seem right/ethical/honorable to require folks to get an extended warranty to fix a "known" problem.
Royan, if you can provide some guidance on how I should proceed in getting this resolved, I would truly appreciate it.

Answer:Dell Inspiron M5030 - 7 beeps

Hi cslip,
The 7 beep code indicates that there is a processor failure. I would request you to send a private message with your system service tag, as I need to check a few more details about the computer. Hi, My sister was using her computer and she booted up windows 7. She then tried updating steam and opening chrome. Her computer then lost the display and crashed windows. It started doing beep codes. I can't tell how many beeps there are though. its either beep-beep beep or beep-beep or beep beep-beep.

Any help is appreciated.

Here is a Youtube Video
Dell Beep Code for Inspiron 560 - YouTube
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/qJcJteVwhP0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Answer:Dell Inspiron 560 Error Beeps

That does not sound like normal beep code to me. If that is 3 short beeps in each series it is too fast. There is no way to tell if there is any short or long beeps in that because it is too fast.

Here are the beep codes for the Inspiron:
And here is a link to the manual:
http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...n/sg/sg_en.pdf

First thing to try: shut off, remove power cord, wait a few minutes, then connect the power cord and try and start up again.

You might try performing a Clear CMOS (resetting the BIOS). I don't know what motherboard you have in the computer, so I don't know if it has a CLRTC or ClearCMOS jumper, but most do.

Procedure:
Note all your current BIOS settings (Ignore this in your case)

Shut down the computer > remove the power cord.
Remove the 3v battery.
Move the CLRTC jumper from pins 1-2 to 2-3.
Touch a metal part of the case and Press and Hold the reset button for approx. 30 seconds to discharge all power from the board.
Put the CLRTC jumper back on pins 1-2.
Replace the 3v battery > replace the power cord > boot.
Immediately go back into BIOS and reset all your preferred settings. If the CLRTC worked you will need to reset the date and time.

There is also no video.

There is a indicator light when the unit is turned on.
I removed the battery and held the start button down but that did not do anything.

What is my next step to trouble shoot this machine?

I have a Inspiron N5110 which beeps 8 times on start up and nothing comes up on the display, external monitor works fine.  I replaced the lcd and the same thing.  Is there sometining else I should be looking at??

Answer:Dell Inspiron n5110 - 8 beeps on start up

Eight beeps means a display failure.
Since the external monitor works, you know it's not a fault with the video card.
With the notebook off, hold down the "D" key and power the notebook on.  If you get solid colors on the screen, then you know the LCD is good.  I would look for a problem with the video cable.  Just resently, someone found that the front bezel was creating a problem with the video cable.

Answer:Dell Inspiron N5010 7 beeps no display

Seven beeps is a mainboard  or CPU failure - more likely the board than the CPU.  Given the cost of a board and age of the system, the best course of action is to shop for a replacement system.
If you must repair this system, the board you need is this one if you have Intel graphics
www.parts-people.com/index.php
and this one if you have ATI/AMD video:

I have been working on a Inspiron N4030 laptop and has been one problem after the other. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. When i first looked at this laptop it would not get power, no lights. So i replaced the power jack card (common to go out), and battery. That did not fix it, so i then replaced the mobo. It booted great and was pretty quick, well not even 3 boot ups and then new problem. When I would power it on, only the power and CD lights would flash and then continue to flash on about 2 second intervals. Then i tried using the FN and power to bypass POST and this worked only to get hung up at the Dell logo, which in turned created a new problem of 7 beeps. I found a fix to let it keep beeping for a few hours while wrapped up (to get warm), which i tried and it quit beeping after 30 minutes or so and was very warm, this fix also worked because i made it to the Windows screen, then locked up again. At this point there are no beeps, the FN and power does nothing, and am back to only the power light and CD light flash every 2-3 seconds. Sorry for the long post, just wanted all details known.

5 BEEPS AT STARTUP IN DELL INSPIRON N 5110

Hello,

I am using a DELL INSPIRON N5110 , 2nd gen Intel core i5 ,4GB RAM,1GB NVIDIA GT525M graphics card,640GB HDD and Windows 7 Home premium. My laptop was functioning properly for 1 year but I had a serious misfortune last Saturday. My laptop fell down to the tiles floor from my cot ( approx 45cm depth) . After repositioning I tried to boot the laptop which had gone off. It booted with 5 continuous beeps, the sound of which decreases in intensity when the welcome screen appears. But the sound still persists. You know how much annoying is it to have! I did a thorough system checkup and diagnostics which turned out to be normal. All components worked properly, I played FIFA 12 , watched some movies and accessed the internet. The only problem I find is that the caps lock indicator is not working now. I tried to contact the DELL helpline that day itself but I couldnt reach them as the call got disconnected all the time. When finally I got the line, I told them my problem and they finally told me Ill have to get my motherboard replaced which will cost INR11,000 . very sadly, my laptop warranty had just expired two days prior to the accident. When I went through various forums and communities, I got an idea to do a battery flea and after that the beep disappeared. Unfortunately the beep came back after sometime, still 5 in number !! I also got an info that there could be some issues with the CMOS battery which can be replaced. I am t... Read more

Answer:5 beeps at startup in dell inspiron n 5110

Hello Anees, and welcome to TSG.

You are most likely correct that the 5 beeps indicates a CMOS battery problem. There is no way of easily knowing if the fall loosened the battery in its socket and it needs to be reseated or if the fall damaged the motherboard in the area of the CMOS battery with a broken solder connection or a broken trace on the motherboard.

Checking the CMOS coin cell battery will require disassembly of the computer as described in Dell's on line documentation here:
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/insN5110/en/sm/index.htm

A local computer repair shop should be able to do the work for you and tell you if the problem is more than just a loose battery.

Most standard laptop warranties that I have seen do not cover damage caused by abuse, like dropping the computer.

EDIT: I have no idea what you mean by a, "battery flea".

Hi All,
I am very much frustrating that I have purchased the Dell laptop 15R N5110 three years back. Now the issue is that when we try to start the laptop it start starts beeping of 7 Beeps and then nothing happens after that. The warranty over the laptop has already been expired  and contact to the local laptop repair engineer they told that we need to replace the Motherboard.
Also, In the market there is not the new motherboard available and they provide us the refurbished motherboard which is not trustable to spend the amount of 12000 for this motherboard. Please suggest dell community. What should we need to do.
Regards

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 : Problem 7 beeps and not start at all

The mainboard is likely the faulty part, as you know.
Given the age of the system, cost of replacing the board and the fact that you'll get at best a 90-day repair warranty, you're likely better off buying a new system -- this one is now on the order of five or more years old -- and therefore not worth repairing.

I own a Dell Inspiron 15 3542 and whenever I reboot or start it and I hear five beeps. I looked it up and it says that would be due to CMOS Battery failure. Kind of crazy the CMOS battery is failing when I have other computers that are 3x older with CMOS Batteries that are still kicking just fine.
With that said I wanted to ask is there a preferred place to buy one? And if so can someone tell me where? I don't want to end up buying a cheap battery on eBay or from a third party amazon seller.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15 3542 - Five Beeps (CMOS Battery?)

It's a CR-2032 button cell - you can buy them just about anywhere - Amazon, CVS, Target, etc.
If replacing the battery doesn't solve the problem, the clock chip itself is bad - meaning a mainboard replacement is required.

Hi, I have had my Dell for just under three years and never had a problem. I upgraded to Windows 10 last night and it worked fine the following morning but then unexpectedly the laptop had turned itself off. Now, if I press the power button, the screen does not do anything and after about five seconds there are three beeps, which then reoccur.I have investigated and found that this model has not been tested, however Microsoft failed to mention that when telling me my specifications were fine for an upgrade.I am wondering whether I can do anything cheap which will both save my laptop and all my work :(. I have already tried physically checking my RAM and reinstalling windows 8 to no avail.

Error code 2000 0415 and 2000 0321.

for error 2 got msg LCDFDID check- FDID EEPROM.
What should I do to troubleshoot or repair the laptop I bought it very costly and its used less than 3 years.
Any help will be appreciated.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15Z 8 beeps during start and screen split into 4 parts

Hi GEEKPS,
The 8 beeps is a LCD failure error indicator. And hence the epsa errors relating to the LCD cable.
Is this a touch / non touch screen?
Update the BIOS if possible - http://dell.to/2fUAg8C- restart the system and check.
If the issue is not resolved, for touchscreen - you would need to replace the entire LCD assembly.
For non touch, download the service manual from the above link - reseat the LCD cable and check. If the issue is not resolved, the replace the LCD cable - this is the part you would need - http://bit.ly/2eg0YZ3
If the issue persists, then replace the LCD accordingly.

Looking for guidance on how to get my laptop working again. I removed the screen assembly because of a broken LCD panel. I haven't been able to find a replacement, so I'm hoping I can just use an external monitor. The only problem is, when I try to boot it up with an external monitor, the laptop beeps 8 times in a row continuously. The external monitor lags on the Dell welcome screen, but the f2 and f12 keys don't work.
I've tried everything the forums suggest:
removing the battery, holding down the power button, and restarting,
removing the hard drive,
loading with the D button held down

Please advise.

I recently changed the screens on my laptop without difficulty. The next day i went to classes and brought my laptop since it was now fixed. When i went to turn it on it was very dark and i couldn't adjust the brightness. I couldn't get pass the log on screen so i held down the power button but it would not turn off so i took out the battery. I put the battery back in and left the laptop alone till i got home. I thought that the problem with the screen was a wire came loose or something of that nature so i took apart the screen and made sure everything was plugged in. I put it back together and put the battery back in and went to turn it on to see if the screen problem was resolved and it wouldn't boot or anything. I don't get any beeps, fans, or lights that turn on. HELP!?!?!?!

Disconnect all the external peripherals.
Unplug AC Adapter and also take off the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 10 to 15 seconds.
Connect the AC Adapter back and check if the system is working fine.

So I'm getting 4 beeps from my N5010.
I remove both RAM sticks & I get 2 beeps (no RAM detected) so I think my motherboard is good.
I've done every combination of RAM sticks in the slots to try to isolate a bad one, & I'm still getting 4 beeps no matter what.
What next?

Answer:RE: dell inspiron N5010 doesnt start only beeps 4 sounds

Hi F1098,
4 beeps are bad memory and 2 beeps are no memory as you are already aware.
Now, have you tried each memory module in each slot and it fails with 4 beeps on every case? If yes, then I would suspect the motherboard to be faulty. The chances of 2 memory modules going faulty at the same time is very rare. You could however, test this memory module on another machine to confirm if it is functional or not.

7 beeps is a mainboard or CPU failure -- on this model, the CPU is permanently soldered to the mainboard, so both must be replaced.

Hi, I have several problems with my laptop. It began when it sometimes stuck on first logo. I did recovery but it didn't help. So I tried to flash new bios A13(I had A06) from windows. After restart I could see only black screen. After unsuccessfull trying of everything I disconnected CMOS battery to reset bios and since this act I get 5 beeps at startup even if I changed battery for new one. I finally boot to windows but: Bios stayed unchanged(A06) and my battery is now on 0%, it says charging but it doesn't charge. I did DELL diagnostic tests from boot menu with 100% success. In these tests battery show 1%. I tried to flash bios again(from DOS, v. A08) and the same result, black screen at first (for long time)and after boot BIOS stayed the same - A06. Thank you for any help or advice. Martin

Reboot the computer.
When prompted during POST, press the <F2> key to enter the setup screen.

Press the <Enter> key on Yes to Load Optimized Defaults and restart the computer.

Also, Check if the AC adapter is detected under AC adapter type in BIOS.

This pc is not under warranty any more. It was working fine (with the exception of mouse being rather slow), but this morning, when I turned it on, funny thing happened: it started to beep. It makes 4 beeps, -break -another 4 beeps and so on. The computer does not boot up. There is green light in the back, but pc doesn't work at all and nothing happens on the screen. Just this beeping continues.
I unplugged it, unplugged all connections/ waited 20 minutes / plugged everything back in - it didn't help. The computer just beeps and doesn't work.

If anyone here could help me fix this problem, I would appreciate it a lot.

Basically I took them out and put them back in (they don't really get in so easity and I had a few scary moments while trying to do it - but finally I managed to put all 4 of them in).

Then I turned the computer on and ...there was 1 beep and...nothing. But I thought that was a sign of progress, since I had 4 beeps before. So, after turning the computer on and off a few more times, all beeping stopped and finally the monitor came alive (before nothing was happening on the screen) and asked me how I want to restart the computer. I decided to start in in regular mode...and it started!

It turned out that all documents are still there.

So, even though no one actually responded to me - still I guess I should thank the archives on this forum for helping me with this problem.

After installing an automatic update, my labtop was working perfectly fine last night i closed it i believe around 1230 am. Ive been trying to turn it on since 7pm today and it will start turning on and not show the logo and keeps making beeping noises. Is there any way I can fix this please

Answer:Dell Inspiron 11 3000 won't turn on and beeps 5 times with black screen.

Hi,
The 5 beeps are normally a signal that there is a problem with the CMOS battery that powers the BIOS on the system (among a few other things).  This is not the battery that you think of that powers the system on, off, etc., when it's not plugged into an ac adapter.
Try this:  Remove the battery and AC adapter from the system, then hold the power button down for 10 to 30 seconds.  That should remove any residual power in the system.  Then plug the AC adapter back in and see if the system powers up at that point.
A quick question, when you say it won't show the "logo" are you referring to the Dell logo or the Windows one?  You may also want to see if you can go in and reset your BIOS if you actually see the Dell logo show up.
Let me know how those two steps go and if it helps or not.  If not, please let me know if you're seeing the Dell logo at all when it starts up.  And also which version of Windows that you're running on the system.  If you're seeing the Dell logo but Windows won't start it leads towards something different than the CMOS battery, although the 5-beeps would seem to indicate that was the problem.

So I have this Dell Mini Inspiron 1018 not in correct working condition. As stated in title:
-Powers on.
-No monitor, completely blank.
-Not hearing any kind of beeping.

Any ideas on a solution?

Answer:Dell Mini Inspiron 1018: Powers On - Blank Screen - No Beeps

Sounds like a display issue, such as a bad LCD or connector.
Try plugging it into a monitor to rule out the possibility of a bad video card.

My laptop inspiron 14z couldn't start and got 3 beeps and black screen, I had windows 10 installed and Bios A13.
The BIOS update A13 seems to be the problem. With a downgrade to A12 I fixed it. And you need to do that in ms-dos mode cause the bios executable doesn't let you do a downgrade on windows) I first thought that the problem was windows 10 but the computer had the same problem once I installed windows 8.1.
The difficult part was to start the computer again, I followed a youtube tutorial (portugues) to disassemble the laptop and it started, so you can flash the bios. Go youtube and search for inspiron 14z 3 beeps. (notice that in my case the laptop started some times at the 3rd time I pressed the power button, some times I needed more that 20 attempts but finally it booted. You don't need to press any F keys convination or whatever people says, it will eventually start and I don't have explanation for that)
Once in windows make a bootable MS-DOS USB using for example Rufus app. (MSDOS, not FreeDos, I couldn't flash the bios with freedos option) and put the bios in it. BMWZ4A12.exe, can be downloaded from dell website.
Then boot UEFI setup restarting de laptop and press F2 at dell's logo. Maybe you can't access the UEFI when you restart, if you can't, you can access the UEFI using the Recovery setup in windows (search recovery, click recovery setup, go advanced options, troubleshooting, change UEFI settings, restart) go to BOOT section an... How can I contact dell for product replacement or motherboard exchange.
I had an xps back in the day where a lawsuit was involved.  Is there a similar aituation this time as scores of people are having this issue

Answer:Dell 15z 5523

There is no such situation with this model.  If you need a repair, you can contact the local shop of your choice or contact Dell for a repair estimate quote (there's a charge for the estimate, which is applied to the repair cost if you go forward with the repair).

Hello, when I power up my Dell Inspiron 15R 5537 my laptop beeps 7 times and the monitor remains black, do you have any recommendations for how to resolve?

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15R 5537 Beeps 7 times with blank video screen at start up

This is a bad mainboard and/or CPU.  Both are soldered together, so you'll need to replace the board.

Hello,
I have a dell Inspiron 15 N5010 which is about 4 years old. It was working properly, but suddenly it went off and when i restarted it, there was nothing which appeared on screen, but  there was a beep sound which went on until i turned my laptop off. Even the startup screen didnt appeared during this. The power button lights up, fan is running, but the screen is not coming up.
I have noticed one thing also, if i put it on for long time, so that it gains enough heat due to constatnt running and then I restart it, the screen will come. and after sometime, the screen distorts and after few seconds, the laptop screen turns black and the beep sound appears which start crying until i turn laptop off.
Thanks in advance for any help that is actually helpful.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15 N5010 Beeps on startup continuously and wont show screen

Hi letsrock35 ,
I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check if you are able to switch ON the system properly without beeps.

Switch off the computer.
Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.
Remove the battery from the computer.
Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
Then connect back all the peripherals and check if you are able to turn on the system properly without beeps.

Also, I would suggest that you run the diagnostics on the computer by following the steps mentioned in the video below and check if there is any issue with the hardware on your system.
http://dell.to/164l6g4
Please let us know the number of beep codes you receive they should beep in a pattern. In addition, connect an external display to check if the issue reoccurs.

Dell Inspiron 3000 11" (3147) - 5 beeps 4 times on boot, and when it boots, there is no WIFI (network card also not listed in device manager).

All I could find on that beep code is that "5 beeps means replace CMOS battery".
But it's not "5 beeps", its "5 beeps 4 times", and my CMOS battery is fine at 3+ volts. I replaced it just in case, but it still did not help any, as expected. Any ideas?

I have a Dell 15z 5523 that turns off the power to the USB powershare port whenever the laptop sleeps or is turned off. So I can't  keep any of my devices charged through the port. Powershare is turned on in the BIOS. Is there something else I have to do to enable it?

Answer:Powershare on Dell 15z 5523

Update:
Looks like I fixed the powershare charging issue. I took out the keyboard. Under the the bottom left side,  there is a small slide switch. It was in the on position but I switched it on and off a few times. I plugged my phone in and it started charging right away. So there must have been a bad connection in the switch.

I found an old Dell Inspiron 530a in my house, it was stored because it didn’t work anymore, so I got in the job of restoring it. I found out the problem was the PSU, so I replaced it and it worked fine for about a week but 2 days ago, the computer froze for almost 2 hours, so I turned off the CPU. After that, the computer does not want to boot, I press the power button on the front of the PC, and it remains in an orange light, and in the inside, there is also another orange light in the Motherboard. The fans start very loudly and don’t stop until I unplug the CPU or I turn it off from the power button. I have tried these “solutions” for what I think is the problem:

Removing the Motherboard battery
Removing the RAM
Disconnecting the 24-pin from the motherboard
Disconnecting everything from the PSU
Switching the jumpers near the batteries

I don’t know what the problem might be, but I am almost sure that the PSU is not, since I bought it with a higher capacity than the original PSU and I have done the tests with a jumper in the 24-pin connector
The new PSU is a  “Coolmax V-500 Series 500W 120mm ATX Power Supply” and everything else are original Inspiron 530a parts.
Thanks for any assistance you can give me

hi all
i have bought dell inpiron 5559 laptop from one week, i cleaned windows 10 pre-installed from the factory and installed windows 7 by converting hard disk style from GPT to MBR and allowing unsecure boot and changing boot sequence from UEFI to Legacy Roms
after installing windows 7, all Onboard i/o ports are not working except DVD-Drive
for example i inserted a  USB flash memory and it wasn't recognized, i tried to install another windows and use another USB flash memory and the problem is still exist
is the operating system recovery image on dell support can solve the problem and get the laptop to its original state ? if i burned to to flash and tried to boot from it will it work and recognized or should i burn it to DVD as DVD is the only working devices right now ?

I am going to preform a factory wipe and reset  on my Dell Inspiron 530 which has windows Vista Home Premium installed. My question is will I have problems downloading any of the factory software and drivers or update the system if windows is not supporting Vista ? This is my first time doing this and any advice will be appreciated. Thank You.

Answer:Does windows support windows vista after a factory reset on Dell Inspiron 530

Microsoft have ditched support for all IE versions earlier than 11 and only allowed up to version 9 on Vista. Google have also ditched Chrome support for this operating system. Office 2013/2016/Windows Live Essentials all do not support Windows Vista.
Consider the Operating System at End of Life.
Theres no official free upgrade path to Windows 10 TH2 however you may use the unofficial 10130 Upgrade path. The Inspiron 530 runs Windows 10 64 Bit TH2 well.

Had gotten the message from Microsoft that my laptop could upgrade to Windows 10. Did so on 7/29/2015 and things seemed ok, but it was very slow and wireless mouse's scroll wheel didn't function. Then bluetooth stopped working. Ran the program to go back to Windows 7 and it said it completed properly, but now it won't boot. Can't go to safe mode and when I looked there are no recovery points saved. Even though warranty has expired, Dell support agreed and sent me "Reinstallation DVD" for Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit. My problem is that I really don't want to do factory reset type of install as we have thousands of photos on this laptop and they can not be replaced. Any help would be appreciated. I am using our desktop to post and I can not access the internet from the laptop. I did, when in adnavced menu, get it to boot once without the constant rebooting and it ended up at a blue screen saying I needed to run my anti-virus program. I am not that computer savy, so be prepared for a lot of questions.

Answer:Dell Inspiron N7010 won't boot Windows 7 after downgrading from Windows 10

You can still retrieve all your data. Download the Hirens boot disk here. Unzip the iso file to the desktop. Burn the iso file using WIndows 7 by right clicking it and selecting Burn Disk Image. On XP you can use Imgburn. If you use Imgburn make sure you opt out of any optional programs it installs. Attach a USB flash or external drive. Boot the Hirens disk and select MiniXP. Double click Computer. Your hard drive may be a different letter than C:

Copy, do not move, the files from your hard drive to your external drive. Make sure you can open them on the other computer before doing the clean install.

If you do not have an available CD or DVD you can create a bootable USB flash drive. If you prefer this method then I will post the instructions.

Edit: You may want to also save your browser favorites or bookmarks.

What can I do to access Windows 8.1?

Answer:Windows 8.1 Dell Inspiron 660

See if doing the following gets you to Advanced Options with USB support. You may be able to do a System Restore. You shouldn't have to shutdown and restart more than 3 or 4 times to get Advanced Options.

Hold the Power Button for 5 seconds or until the computer completely shuts off.
Press the Power Button to turn the computer on.
As soon as you see the rotating loading circle, press and hold the Power Button until the computer shuts off.
Repeat this process 2 or 3 times until you see the Preparing Automatic Repair screen.
Let the computer boot to the Automatic Repair screen.
