Anyone know what kind of HD ibuypower.com uses?

Question: Anyone know what kind of HD ibuypower.com uses?

I'm in the process of configuring a new system on IBuyPower and unfortunately they don't tell you which brand HD they use on the customization page. does anyone have any experience with them? I'm hoping it's WD just cos I seem to have the best luck with them. Size capacity I chose was 500GB.

Any input would be much appreciated !

Preferred Solution: Anyone know what kind of HD ibuypower.com uses?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Question: www.ibuypower.com

http://www.ibuypower.com/mall/lobby.htm

has anyone heard good/bad things about this site?

I'm someone who lacks the ability to build their own PC and i've seen quite a few people recommend this site for building gaming rigs, so i was wondering if this is a good place to buy a PC from...

Answer:www.ibuypower.com

my desktop is an ibuypower computer which i think is pretty good but their tech support is really sh*tty and on top of that say if u purchase 2GB of ram and your motherboard will only support 1gb they will only give u the 1gb and they wont even tell that ur mobo aint compatiable with it. if u want to build a ocmputer there like i did i searches the stuff i was getting and made sure it would work with each other. but if u can get it built and it performs well its a kick ass computer like mine

I want to build a Laptop computer for ~ $2000. Ibuypower seems to be the only site where I can find a laptop that is high performance, good price, and 15in. Everywhere else (that I can find) only has laptops that are either less good spec's, or good spec's and 17in.

Answer:Ibuypower or eMachines?

Hey.

I have never heard of an Ibuypower, but I do have an Emachine. I am still using an Emachine 333id model. I would say an Emachine. Go with what I know LOL.

I am on my 3rd machine (4th if you want to be technical). Built the third time. Build the machine if you can afford it. If you check my past post you can see just how fustrating it can be, but normally not that hard.

Having issues with BSOD and i can't find out why or how it happens. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
thank you. I've never used a forum before, and have no idea what else to do in my position. I uploaded the files that you will need to solve this if you can, thanks again. Also my temps read around 40-60 because i play mmos, and my rear fan runs hard core alot even with case open, and idk if its just the fact that its a gaming pc or if it is telling me of a soon to come heat problem.

Answer:BSOD like many others. New iBuyPower....

Hi,

Uninstall Avast then use the removal tool. Set Windows Firewall and Windows Defender to Automatic and start them too, using services.msc.

Update Realtek HD Audio codec driver from their website:

RTKVHD64 RTKVHD64.sys Fri Mar 29 09:40:06 2013 (515599B6)

Update motherboard bios to newest version.

Likely that the memory is not configured well, mismatched, or defective.

Please attach a screenshot of CPU-Z first tab, one of memory tab and one each for each stick of RAM of SPD tab - along with newest crash dumps - if necessary after completing the above. (Or perhaps Avast removal is the trick instead.)

I found a really decent laptop from iBuyPower.com, but I have a concern about it.

When I google search P170EM, I find that it's made by "CLEVO". And that it's listed a LOT cheaper at other places. I'm willing to spend $1700 on a laptop with no questions asked. But if I can get it cheaper, and more options, then I'll go that route. So what gives? I also find that Sager NP9170 is extremely familiar to the one at ibuypower.com

Either way, what are some good websites that offer gaming laptops? I've been messing with iBuyPower, SagerLaptops.. I'd REALLY like to have a AsUS laptop but I can't configure them :'(

The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

Answer:Ibuypower Or Cyberpower Laptops?

Ummm , the styling looks a little old, like the " C " series Dell. It is also AMD. More then likely it is a good notebook. awahat you have to think about is worst case scenario, this probably will not happen, what if you have a major failure. How good are they with warranty. Will they send you the part like Dell does or will you need to send the whole notebook in. I see a lot of Dells which also means if a few years down the road you crack the LCD, you more then likely can buy one on ebay instead of paying double or triple from the OEM. Also site support like drivers. support email. How much do you have to spend ? Have you looked at alienware notebooks ( they are owned by dell)

This was an "Opened and resealed" deal from nobetterdeal.com. I knew the unit wouldn't last for too long as-is but I did at least expect it to work on arrival. Out of the box it would turn on for about half a second and then it would die. After I got it opened, I reseated RAM and GPU and all of the other motherboard connections and then it would start. When I connect it to a monitor, though, the monitor  just sits there in a dormant state. BIOS doesn't even try to run. Neither the motherboard's connection nor the graphic card's will work. I know the motherboard is at least partially functional because the CPU and GPU fans are running. The tech told me it was either the motherboard or the PSU, but given that the stock PSU that they use on Amazon is only $25, I'm betting that it's the PSU, but I'm not an expert. I had the tech trace the serial number and it turns out that this website nobetterdeal bought the unit from amazon. com after a customer returned it. I have about 24 days to decide on getting a refund or keeping the parts. What do you think? Does it sound like the PSU? Or is it more likely the motherboard? Thanks!Specs: Motherboard: Gigabyte Ultra Durable GA-78LMT-USB3PSU: ALLIED ATX12V Model #:  SL-8320BTXOther Specs:     AMD FX-4130 (3.8GHz)    8GB DDR3, Power Supply: 300 WATT    1000 GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive    AMD Radeon 6670 1GB    Windows 8

Answer:iBuyPower Dead On Arrival

Update: I've tried starting the computer with 1 stick of RAM installed and no RAM installed. Didn't make a difference. I've also tried starting it without the graphics card. \Also, the CD-ROM drive will not open. I've confirmed that it's connected to the PSU and the motherboard, but no love. I'm not really sure what that implies. If it sounds like the PSU I think I'll take the plunge and buy another one for $25. If it might be the motherboard too..idk.

Does anyone out there know if the iBuypower computers or other computer out there on like Tigerdirect or the ZT brands from Costo are any good? I've never heard of them but keep seeing them popping up everywhere....

I've only ever had a Dell, HP or Gateway machine.

Answer:iBuypower and other non-namebrand computers

They're most often made from quite much better quality parts than Dell, etc as they don't get exclusively extra cheap motherboards and other parts like the big brand companies. They do sometimes use lower quality power supplies though, quite a feat considering what the factory built boxes have. I wouldn't recommend getting any of them without modifying it yourself and selecting a quality power supply for it, or replacing it yourself to save a few dozen dollars, as well as getting a longer warranty for the PSU.

Hey all, new to the forums and in pretty serious need of some help. I bought an IBUYPOWER prebuilt gaming rig last... April I think, and its been working great for me. Recently however ( the last month or so), the sound keeps going out. It went out for about a week before randomly coming back (nothing I did), and now its been gone for about 2-3 weeks. The sound icon down by the clock shows a red x and says that no speakers are plugged in. I've tried a bunch of things to try and get my audio back on, but no luck. I'm not sure what I would need to provide here for anybody to help me, or what I SHOULDNT post for security reasons, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some important notes
*I have Windows 7
*I have two jacks for my speakers, one in the back where you would typically expect to find one, but also an additional one in the front panel. Neither one apparently works, leading me to believe its a driver issue.
*Gosh idk what else to put down! any help would be greatly appreciated, I used to think I was capable with computers but this seems to be beyond me

Hi everyone...I'm in the process of getting a new computer and I'm currently looking at this online place called www.ibuypower.com ... basically that site lets you choose the components and they'll put it together for you. I searched the parts on NewEgg and the price actually came out higher hahah

Anyway, what's troubling me is that a look at their ratings at ResellerRatings.com is "great" http://www.resellerratings.com/seller2001-p3-s1-d1.html

So my question is has anyone here had experiences with that company along with suggestions, etc. Thanks in advance.

Hey!
What seems to be wrong us that the UEFI can't seem to detect the harddrives when determining boot order? That's my best guess. I really have no idea. If I load Bootable media, such as my installation drive, it detects it just fine and all my components are fine and I'm able to format and install as I please.
However, I'm unable to access the UEFI configuration, as the pc just stops.
Twice in the past few days it's been able to work itself out and boot as normal, so I know it's not a harddrive issue, but it's extremely rare.
I formatted and installed a fresh windows on a secondary drive to see if that would help to both avail.
I have a video showing what happens, but I can't upload it

Back in December 2009 I bought a computer from iBuypower. I have just recently noticed how slow the install is because I got a new copy of Windows 7 for my 13inch MacBook Pro(2.66 Core2, 4GB RAM) and it seems to run games faster and be more stable. Could it just be a early version of 7 that is causing the problem? or is it hardware?

My wife and I noticed a funny smell the past few days. I am short on cash so we i opened my laptop up and took my motherboard out. It is dark brown all around the dc jack and there are melted parts that dripped down.
Can anyone tell me what should be my next step? Can I fix this? Or is it not possible?

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie here, so I apologize if this post isn't perfect. But don't worry, I haven't posted any logs yet.

I am running Windows XP

I have had a weird problem for a long time (maybe 6 months). Everytime I open a program, I get a pop up saying

"C:\Windows\system32\skqncbib.dll" is not a valid image and I need to check my installation disk.

I just ignored it for a long time. I also had the problem that when I started up my comp. I had to run explorer.exe from the task manager. It wouldn't load on its own.

So yesterday I decided to try and "fix" the problem...

I saw a bunch of stuff on combofix. So I tried it and ignored the disclaimers. (I know... I know...)

Well, it quarantined my explorer.exe file (turned it into explorer.exe.vir)

How do I get this back and how do I fix those pesky pop-ups and the underlying problem?

... and no... I don't have my installation disk.

Thx in advance

you can try CPU-Z which is on majorgeeks. then check out the SPD and see if it provides a model number or anything, there might be some other programs the can tell you. Otherwise if it has a sticker on or a fcc code then you could google the information and see what it comes up with.

Whenever I try to save or back up data, my computer will not cooperate. I have tried using floppy disks, but they don't have enough room. I want to know what kind of CD-Rom to buy to copy data onto. I have an emachine running XP with these specifications:

Intel® Celeron® 2.60 GHz Processor
128KB L2 cache & 400 MHz FSB
Intel 845GV Chipset
40 GB HDD
256 MB DDR (PC 2100)
56K* ITU v.92 ready Fax/Modem
48x Max. CD-RW Drive; 3.5" 1.44MB FDD
64 MB Shared Memory

Thank you for any help.

Answer:What kind of CD-Rom to buy?

These days you can get DVD writers fairly cheap, which lets you put a LOT more data (single layered about 5 times more data). That entire HDD will only take about 10 DVDs to back up, as opposed to 57 CDs.

Doesn't matter too much on the brand, shop around and see if you can find one on special offer or somthing.

And hang on a minute, how are you managing to run XP on a computer with 64MB of memory.... more to the point why do you have a 2.6GHz processor with 64MB of memeory? Are you sure thats the right number?

Adaware found Coulomb Dialer. Do ALL dialers reek havoc on your phone bills? Or is it only for people who use dial-up connection?

I have a PACK-MATE 8102 (Packard Bell) with a MMX 333 processor. I have 32 mg RAM and want to add more, but have been told I need either DIMM ram or EDO ram. I do not know what kind and my book does not tell me. I do not know where else to find this info. Thanks

Answer:What kind of RAM do I buy?

You need to look at your system board. Edo is a type of Simm ram. That ram will look like a mini board long and skinny with chips solderd onto it. Dimm is quite a bit longer and will be stick out. I will investigate for you but you should be able to tell the difference.

Question: some kind of bug

Hello,
I have a problem with my brower(s). Its a redirecting issue. I've ran superantispyware, malwarebytes, and spybot search and destroy, and all three have found trojans and issues that I believe I have eliminated. But now theres another issue.
When I do a search on both firefox and IE, I get redirected to a different site. This happens also in safemode with networking.
I'm to the point where I'm deleting startup entries in MSCONFIG, and disabling add-ons. But something tells me I'm directing my attention to the wrong place because nothing has helped.
Any ideas??

Answer:some kind of bug

Please run the tool here How to remove Google RedirectsWhen it is done, a log file should be created on your C: drive called "TDSSKiller.txt" please copy and paste the contents of that file here.Rerun MBAM (MalwareBytes) like this:Open MBAM in normal mode and click Update tab, select Check for Updates, when doneclick Scanner tab, select Quick scan and scan (normal mode). After scan click Remove Selected, Post new scan log and Reboot into normal mode.

Performance Tips
Notice 224 : SMBIOS/DMI information may be inaccurate.
Warning 2507 : Mainboard has too few memory slots. Upgrading the memory may be difficult or expensive.

I'm confused as to what kind of memory I have. It says DDR-SDRAM, so which one is it!? And also, doesn't Warning 2507 and Tip 2511 contradict each other?

Thanks in advance

Question: What kind of RAM??

Ok a quick question.

How do I find out what kind of memory I need?
(PC133, PC100)...????

I would like a total of 256MB thats all my board says it can have.
The guy at Staples says my comp won't see just one stick of 256, I should buy two 128's for it to work. Is this true?

My board is old , it can use both types of RAM (SIMM or DIMM)

I want DIMM of course.

If it will help here is some board specs:
Microstar MS 5156
Cyrix 266 proccesor
intel chip set 82430TX
Cache Memory - Supports 512K pipeline burst memory

up to 256MB of main memory
supports EDO Hyperpage mode DRAM, standard DRAM, and SDRAM

I know its old but how can I tell what to get?
Where do I look?

Any one have some RAM, that would work, they want to part with?

Then i can continue using the program / images. ALthough the Nero window comes back a few times so It's really, really annoying. Please what the *censored*?

Answer:Need help. Some kind of bug.

Sounds like your computer came with annoying Trial software. If you do not use Nero, go into Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs (or "Uninstall a Program" in Vista)Find Nero, and Uninstall it. (Only if you don't want it!)If this does not solve the problem:What operating system are you using?Possible solutions (if NOT solved by removing nero)Wrong file association types. Correct the file associations to the correct program.

Question: What kind of RAM?

Hey guys, my parents are looking into buying some ram, around 128MB why? ask them, but anyway would a 128MB module work in a comp of this caliber?:

Windows 98SE
3GB HDD
currently 40 MB RAM
Pentium 166MHz

I looked at the mobo and it looks like it would house a dimm module. but i dont know for sure

Answer:What kind of RAM?

We would need more information about the motherboard. But if the motherboard supports it then yes. Win98 and ME can recognize/support up to 256MBs per DIMM mod.

My daughter brought her computer because it quit connecting to the internet and printing. I ran Mbam and Supraantispyware and found 14 trojans, and 497 spyware threats. I've cleaned everything off and she was getting Hard drive failure warnings, but the warning wanted you to click and buy their program to fix it, so I'm not sure the HD is really dying or not. I uninstalled all her toolbars, (she had about 6) and got rid of "weatherbug" etc... I copied all her pictures and data to an external hard drive.

The Hard drive she has is 160 GB (off system properties but no clue what brand. CPU is a 167 Gigahertz AMD Sempron 2400+; Memory is 496 MB Ram (according to Bellarc Slot A0 has 512 mb and Slot A1 is empty. Her motherbaord is KM266A-8235 Bus Clock 166 megahertz.

I see on Newegg I can get a 500 GB Seagate Bare drive for $49.00 but I don't know if SATA or 2.0 or 3.0, 7200 rpm etc.. is compatible.

How can I get her more Ram. Can I buy one stick of 512 for the other slot? Will it read 1 gig of Ram?

She's getting married in 3 months so with all the expenses, I'm trying to give her a system that will work (even if slow). She's running Win XP Home Edition.

Thanks for your help

Answer:What kind of Ram and HD do I need

First Thing - About the program that says your HDD is dying is most likely a scam similiar to another scam that changes your desktop background to something that says your computer is infected with Adware and that you have to buy product to fix it, when there is nothing wrong at all. It actually changes the desktop background and makes it impossible to change back until you remove it with a fix created by some people online. What is the name of the HDD program that says your HD is dying. Or google the program online and type in scam with it and see if there are any links on other forums talking about it and how to fix it.

A great program to see about these problems is called HijackThis!. http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/

There are several free programs online that are by far better than anything you pay for, examples are ccleaner, defraggler, some free virus software like avast and avg. If you don't mind paying an extra 10 to 20 dollars a year there is a program called spy sweeper that works well when I used it but I have not used it in several years. Most of the time the renewal will be cheaper or have a deal of some sort with it. Googling about the top best free computer programs would not hurt, or top 10 list. Most top 10 list are fine, done by other users. But if they are sponsored by a magazine or something they may slightly biased, but that does not mean they don't work. A poor example would be PC Magazine sponsoring MagicJack. The truth is MagicJack doe... Read more

Hello =) I'm new to the forums, although I've been an avid fan of the great advice around here. I'm certainly no guru, but I've learned some odds and ends here. But this has stumped me. I wanted to check with you guys before I moved on to the official forums.

About two months ago or so I revamped my computer. Had to reinstall Windows because it had become corrupt (surprise, surprise). It was great, I got programs and everything downloaded to STOP malware and other miscellaneous things from entering into my system. Well, now, I'm stumped.

I just redownloaded Ragnarok Online, for anyone out there familiar with the game. As I was loading up the installations...I had the weirdest problem. My computer...slowed down. Like, really slow. And then it froze (this all happened for approximately 18-20 minutes). I noticed however, that it has something to do with ZoneAlarm and its update manager. Whether I'm right or wrong, who knows, but I noticed the difference of having it not running vs. having it running. The speed difference is quite significant. But, I ran through the Malware Removal guide and I'll give what I've got here. I didn't run a few programs; and that may be to my fault, if you want me to go over the steps, that's perfectly fine.

But here's what I've got so far.

Also, some of my text on my computer is in Spanish, and that's why I've gotten a little...well, freaked out.

Sorry if this has been answered already (searched but couldn't find it) but I would like to add an SSD to my new E 550.  I was just going to do a swap out for the regular HDD with an older SSD I had but I found out that my older SSD is too large. So at this point since I need a new one, I was wondering if I could get an SSD that would allow me to keep the HDD as additional storage. Can I get an m2 or msata SSD?  And where does it go exactly?  Any warranty issues?  tks, Ty

Answer:New E 550, what kind of SSD and where does it go?

Hello and welcome,

I'm not personally familiar with that unit, but I don't see any mention of an m.2 SSD or slot in the (English) Hardware Maintenance Manual - ThinkPad E550, E555, E550c   or the Base Specification.  I do see some reviews complaining about the absence of an m.2 slot.

Unless someone else has better information, your only option may be a 7mm 2.5" SSD.

Question: What Kind of PCs?

When Windows 7 is released, what kind of computers do you think will be available? I mean, touch is a huge part of it, so there would be little point in having 7 on a PC with no touch capabilities. I'm thinking that most PCs will be like the current HP touchsmart, everything built in, but do you think there would be normal tower PCs, and have stand-a-lone monitors, with a touch screen (how would it connect? A normal screen connection + USB? Or maybe by then HDMI>DVI).

I'm just curious as to what we'll be buying with 7 pre-installed or ready.

Answer:What Kind of PCs?

absolutely - touch is a new technology that not a lot of folks are going to make a lot of use of - however, big bulky boxes like the one I am currently on (and the one I am currently planning to upgrade in about 6 months - yes, already!) will still be around.

Not everyone is going to like touch, and I don't foresee it becoming a *major* player in the PC market until you get a hybrid of touch *and* voice controlled - then you'll really have a spiffy PC.

Of course, by then, we'll also be able to control them directly by neural caps monitoring out brainwaves too

i just got offered a job and i need help with some questions i dont have answers to. i need to find the best way to organize pics, movies, and information. i have to use the pc at this office which sucks and is slow but i know that one of you guys have a better way to do this that would speed up the process. basically i need the best way to, for example, organize joe's stuff. joe has a property he is selling. my job is to upload information to a program that builds a website for that property. i need a program or something that can create a file for joe and in that file is all the property pics, personal video clips, property information. etc. i saw bumptop was no longer available. someone please mentor me on a better way to work. thankyou

Answer:anyone kind enough to help me out?

Nothing will do this work for you. You can use a Content Management System such as Drupal to help the process but you still need to know how to configure it to work how you want. Otherwise I suggest you hire a web designer/developer to create exactly what you need.

Hello, I have a Dell Inspiron 3650 Desktop. I bought some Dell RAM on eBay and have a problem installing it. After inserting the RAM and plugging in everything, I turn on the PC. The power button that is usually white flashes orange and it doesn't start up. Nothing on the screens. So, did I buy the right kind of RAM? Its 2x8GB 1600mhz PC3-12800 UDIMM 240 pin. The number matches the one on Dell's website for my Inspiron (SNP66GKYC/8G.) I can't attach pictures because the limit is 1000kB and mine are all 1.45M+. The only difference I see in the two types of RAM is the new says 2Rx8 and the old says 1Rx16. Is that my problem? Please reply. Thanks

Hi again, was wondering if there are any programs , for instance, i make a lot of text documents, and when you click properties and theres a summary( usually put text in summary). Is there any apps that let you see the summary of text files without having to click on properties, just move mouse point over files , so it will show it. But i want it to show extra things. Like those mp3 custom tags for mp3s. But for text files, anyone have any ideas.

All it shows it

Answer:Anyone know of this kind of app

In Windows Explorer (eg:My Documents) If you go to View - Choose Details... you will see more display options.

Of course this will display the data for all the files at once.

I don't know if there is a prog like the one you want - bound to be though.

You can hold the Alt key down and double-click on a file to view Properties

Hi to all and here's hoping you can help me: since yesterday my pc has been playing up but it's just the boot up which is VERY slow taking 20-30 mins to complete. I have no lack of speed with anything else like online or just working offline. I've scanned with Antivirus,Spybot, Adaware all in Safe Mode and defragged plus cleaning out all the temp files and cookies..but it's still really slow. Nothing seems to be using up loads of CPU so i can't figure it out. I've even cut down my start up functions to the bare minimum. I have'nt had WinXP pro on for long and it's been a pain in the neck since i installed it. My system ram is 320mb and i have an INTEL PENTIUM II processor 331MHZ. If i need more RAM to run XP efficiently wot type of RAM do i buy for this old pc??Any help would be great as i've run out of ideas now and really need the input............thanks ROZ

Answer:Do I Need More Ram And If So What Kind?

You should have enough RAM to run XP. 512 would be the least amount of RAM I'd prefer to work with on a modern system, but with one that old you may not be able to install that much. The bare minimum processor recommended to run XP is 300MHz, 400MHz recommended, so it'll run relatively slowly overall.

A half hour boot is pretty excessive for a boot up time, though. What programs are installed, other than standard Windows?

Ok, there is a gaming server that me and my friends play on. We all have static IP's so it's not a problem, but a few of our friends are on dial up and their IP's change everytime they connect =/. It's a private server so they block other IP's other then the ones on the allow list, but the people with Dynamic IP's and with dial up can't get on since their ip's change =/. Is there anyway to .. I guess the word is mask. Make it appear as some number that always stays. Any help would be appeciated, I know that sounds kinda odd, lol.

Answer:Kind of an odd request but ^^;;

I'm using Earthlink dial-up, and a static IP is available for extra bucks.

Hi guys,
My PC has stopped working and I'm pretty sure the PSU is the problem, as it's been making weird noises for a while. I'd like to have a go at fixing it myself. It currently has a basic 500W PSU but that doesn't seem to have been very reliable. My PC specs are intel quad core CPU, 8GB RAM, 1GB Nvidia graphics card, 500GB HD, running Windows 7 home premium (sorry I don't have more detailed specs, but I can't boot it to check them at the moment!). I'm not a gamer, but I am a professional graphic artist so my usage is somewhat demanding.
Looking at PSUs online there seems to be a huge variation in price. I see a basic 500W PSU for £8.99 which seems really cheap and I'm not risking that. But then some of them are up to £200! Given the spec of my PC, could someone with more knowledge recommend a PSU to me? Wattage and recomended brand if that makes a difference? I don't mind spending a bit more on something which will improve performance and reliability, but I also don't want to buy something expensive if I don't need to.
Thanks!
Jim

Answer:Confused! What kind of PSU do I need?

"its been making weird noises for a while"
That's probably due to the fan or fans not working properly, and the failure of the psu!.
The replacement would need the same fixing holes, so check the measurements before ordering a new unit.
As for the make and model recommendations, someone else might have a few suggestions and link.
